I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse podcast. And it is so great to be back with you and to have sports. We're going well for now. in the immortal words of a theme song. He's back in the studio. We've let him out of the computer and put him here in three dimensions for us, but still two for you. He is my co-host. He is Alex. Hey, man. Kind of feels a bit Tronesque being outside in the real world and not sure how I feel about it. >> Irvin's Arcade. >> Yeah. Uh, Don out on assignment as is Jen room tonight.

But not out on assignment, but out in the hallway is our engineer and the host of Big 12 Talk with a brand new episode coming to you very, very soon. He is Jay Gillespie. What's going on, brother? >> I'm doing well, man. How are you doing? >> I can't complain, man. We got a lot to talk about this week, and I know you guys are getting ready to fire up as soon as the Big 12 decides what it's going to do. Uh, I know they've canled their media day. >> Yep. So that that may be something that kind of hinders what you guys are trying to do to get that thing up and running.

But let's go ahead and dive right in as we do with NASCAR. Today we were at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 in New Hampshire. Here are your top 10 finishers. Starting in 13th, going to 10th place in the number eight Chevrolet, Tyler Reic, once played by Vin Diesel. Starting in third place, winding up in ninth in the n number nine Chevrolet. Number nine. Number nine. Number nine. I'm sorry. I watched Beatles anthology this week. Uh he is the attorney at law, Chase Elliot. I feel like they they should just call it the Chase the playoff the the Chase Elliot for the cup.

It feels too biased. >> Fair enough. Oh, we have a new name this week. Starting out in fourth place, winding up in eight in eighth place in in the number 41 Ford. He fought at Little Big Horn and he lost Cole Kuster. That's all I got. >> We can work on that. >> Call him uh not Fla. >> General Cole Custer. >> There you go. That That sounds like something you'd order at a bar in Kentucky. >> I'd like to be I don't know. I just made that up. >> I could get that in Texas. >> Could you? Uh start starting in the poll position, but dropping to seventh in the number 10 Ford, Eric Alarola.

>> Starting in 19th and winding up in sixth in the number 21 Ford. That's another thing I watch a lot of. >> You know, it's one of those where it's like it's D Benadetto. >> It is D Benadetto, >> but you always cut off the D. >> I know. >> Man, I'm just going to drive right by that block. Sometimes jokes should not be told. Um >> Oh, I didn't go there. You did. >> I live in the gutter and I wasn't there. >> But I've been watching a lot of Animaniacs lately, too. uh because having the entertainment center in the guest room now I own the entire series of animiacs unfortunately not available on Blu-ray yet but getting to watch some of the good feathers and just hearing the god pigeon and I'm telling you >> one of the greatest episodes they ever did was when they did Westside Pigeons.

>> Yes. >> And I I was shocked. I know we're on a tangent, but that's what we do on the show. I was shocked that that was season one. It that see tends to happen with some of those older shows especially with like the animation like there uh the last time we were talking about that and it happened was when we were talking about Batman the animated series and you're like oh that was all just one season. >> Yeah. There's a place for you here on this statue for you. Ah >> I love the good feathers. Uh starting in seventh place winding up in fifth in the number four Ford.

Kevin Harvick. Joey Lagano starts in ninth, winds up in fourth in the number 22 Ford. In the number 19, Toyota going from 11th to the bronze medal is Martin Trux Jr. Denny Hamlin starts in the silver, winds up in the silver in the number 10 Toyota. >> Not going to go with the Denny's joke. >> Oh, the moves over by Hamlin. It's a little warm in here. I'm a little off the game. >> That's true. >> That's my fault. I forgot. I left my fan at home. That's my fault. winning the race starting in fourth place and holding on to win it in the number two Ford Brad Kesallowski this week.

So, let's get into if the playoffs had started today. You're odd men out and boy it's a tight race right now for 16 because 17 is Dylan 18 is seven time seven time seven time seven time seven time seven time seven time champion Jimmy Johnson. However, both of them are within six points of the guy in 16th place right now, and that would be one Eric Jones. So, there's still kind of a battle for that last place as we're getting closer and closer to the playoffs every week because time. Uh Jones is actually only two points behind Reic.

Reic is 10 back on the Poet, William Byron. Byron, however, is uh let's see, 14 and 11 is 25 points back on Denadto. Uh I feel like that should be his middle initial. >> Denedto or I got a name for him. >> Oh boy. >> D Benadetto color. The colors of D Benadetto. No. >> Colors of Benana didn't work. >> No, it doesn't. >> Okay. Um have a D Benadetto with cheese. I mean, >> no. Benad, he is seven points behind Boer. Boer is 25 point or I'm sorry 55 points back on Boer and Bowman. So the archery brothers very right next to each other in the playoffs right now.

Uh Bowman is 22 back on Kurt B and he is only a point back on his brother Kyle Bou. So you got that going for you which is nice. Kyle is 13 or 14 back on Alarola. Alola is 25 20 26 back on Trux. Trux is seven back on Lego. Logano is 19 back on Chase Elliot, attorney at Law. Elliot is four points back on Hamlin. Hamlin is 29 back on the Stone. Ryan Blay, who is only three back on Kzalowski. However, Kezalowski still got some work to do if he wants to have that top playoff spot because he is 97 points back on Harvick.

Lot going on. But let's talk about what happens coming up with NASCAR because we are we really are at the time when when NASCAR really starts to pick up the pace a little bit. >> No attended. >> Yeah, exactly. We have two races next weekend at Michigan. >> On Saturday at 4:00 Eastern on your NBC Sports Network, we have the Firekeepers Casino 400. I didn't know there was a Brooklyn in Michigan. I think there's a Brooklyn just about everywhere. Uh, it's 156 laps, 312 miles. Both races this week are the same exact.

Why is it a 400 if it's only 312 miles? >> Because it's 400 laps. >> No, it's 156 laps. >> I don't know. I'm I'm guessing at that point. >> And then uh next Sunday at 4:30 Eastern, also on the NBC Sports Network, same track, but it's the Consumers Energy 400. And then we race on Sunday. And then uh SummerSlam weekend, we're racing both days. >> Mhm. >> And then we're racing the following Saturday at Daytona because that is actually that's not Labor Day weekend. That's the weekend before. >> Correct.

Labor Day weekend there in Darlington. >> So, but we are racing Labor Day weekend. >> Mhm. >> And then we're back to single Saturdays. Oh, that's that's Oh, wow. That Darlington race is the start of the playoffs. Yes, it is. So there are I mean are are they caught up >> or are they just we're going to race as much as we can what's throwing it off? >> Are we just going to race as much as we can to get as many races as we can because unlike some other sports they want to like like level set their their stats.

Um >> that's a possibility. >> So we've got one two three four one two three four five six more races until the playoffs. >> Well there's an interesting question uh that is kind of a tangent from what you just said. Are they trying to level set their stats or are they obligated by contracts to have that many? >> That's also fair because of the way NASCAR does what they does versus any other sports. I think the only sport that I could compare that to would be tennis >> because they have so many tournaments that are have sponsors.

>> Oh, okay. See what I'm saying? I was thinking of this >> sponsored by event. I thought of sponsors on the cars >> also possible >> could be both >> like in order to get paid they have to have x number of >> I don't want to say laps but appearances in races >> because I was thinking I was thinking more from the actual event >> itself yeah >> that may be the most in-depth NASCAR conversation we've had in >> that might be the most in-depth conversation on NASCAR ever >> I wouldn't say ever cuz the original co-host of the show is a very big NASCAR guy >> shout out Cody.

Yeah, Cody did. Cody was very into that. Cody really knows NASCAR and so he's he was the genesis of us starting that and we've just never not done it. >> It's only been a couple of months that I learned that they don't always just turn left. So I'm >> Oh, if they have road courses. I see. I like the road courses. >> I like the road courses, too. I like the idea of it. It's the ovals that I have a problem with. >> I just I don't know if I could be at a race as loud as those things go. >> I don't know if I could be at a race that long either.

>> All right. I guess the infield and just having a party is the real deal. Put your tray tables in the upright position because it's sports talk time. Jay, you ready to talk sports? Yes, sir. Because this is Jay's forte and we always go alphabetically in the organizational names versus the sports itself. Let's start with the MLB with good news. Congratulations, Mike Trout. He and his wife welcomed the sun into the world this weekend. Now, if you remember before the season started, Trout was one of the guys that we talked about where he wasn't going to get into the whole thing because he didn't want to be away from his family when his wife gave birth.

So, now that she has, am I correct in saying he now if he want like if he wants to get okay, the kid's born, I'm ready to play, he still has to quarantine for four, is it 14 days still? >> I think the entirety has been thrown out the window based on We'll get there in just a second. >> Uh based on three teams now, but at the same time, I believe I don't believe there is a quarantine aspect to it because of how often they test. I believe they just return, but there is no set thing like for the NFL if you opt out is that um or for the NBA where you opt out and that is your final decision.

Baseball's been a little bit more running loose and wild with it as we've seen for multiple teams. Uh, but would >> Jay, have you got a line on this at all? >> Say that again. >> Have you got a line on this? What what the MA Major League Baseball is really trying to do for people like Trout? >> I am actually uh I'm actually researching that right now because it was an interesting point you brought up. >> Now, on the other side of that, we find out today because Alex currently as of August 2nd, 2020 is a Mets fan.

uh for now. Cespedus now opting out of the season because of Corona virus concerns which we didn't know until I got the notification I think at 3:28 central time where the the club couldn't even get a hold of him. Yeah, we we were watching the game and the the subtext was, yeah, nobody in the organization knows where Sespus is and all he's been doing is hitting the cover off the ball since we got re or since we got started and he's missing and now he's opted out of the season based on what's going around.

I can't say I entirely blame him. >> And we're going to get there in just a minute. Uh, Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly suspended eight games after plunking the Aspro Astros and then running his YAP or I'm sorry, uh, Dodgers pitcher and Chris Katan SNL character Joe Kelly. Uh, lot of uproar about this. In a 60game season, it is the equivalent of what they say 18 games technically. So, as a pitcher, that's about three starts roughly. But what I find interesting about this is he didn't get ejected. Everything happened after he struck out a player and he was walking off the mound.

Maybe the nice swing bord may have had something to do with it. >> I I read I can read lips. I know what he said. >> I I I wasn't going to go there because we we're family friends. >> But that was part that's part of the situation though. >> But >> part of it is him of the running of the mouth. I love how they called it a bench clearing brawl. It wasn't a ball. Everybody kind of come out and was like, "Hey man, that was a bad idea." >> Everybody got about like 12 steps out of the the dugout and were like, "Yeah, let's get into a Oh, we're just we're standing around >> 12 feet or 12 feet.

Is that okay?" >> Yeah. >> Not as funny as the the >> pirates. Yes. >> First of all, >> that was hilarious. >> Air fight from now, you know. >> Yeah. Air fights. >> Yeah. >> Um pitcher and great impressionist Derek Holland. Well, but yeah, I think it was actually Derek Shelton. >> No, it was Holland. Oh, >> Dererick Holland got ejected, but I think it was Derek Shelton that's the manager that they came out and and the the um as he was walking up to him, reached into his pocket and grabbed his mask >> and then they got too close and they had to stagger.

>> Like that could be a top five 2020 moment at this point. >> Yes, it's Derrick Shelton that was the manager. >> But D, have you ever heard Derrick Colton do his impressions? >> Yes, they're impressive. His his Harry Kerry is one of the funniest things I've because he he >> see the one that gets me is a Schwarzenegger. >> Yeah. But it's the fact that he can not only do the impression, but he know he's sharp enough to do the comedy that comes with it. >> See, and I I feel like it's he's not really doing a Harry Kerry impersonation.

He's doing a Will Ferrell as Harry Kerry impersonation. >> Well, that's like the old saying that says nobody does George HW Bush. They do Dana Carvey doing George HW Bush. It's the same thing. Uh, and just like that, I woke up Wednesday morning and texted Alex because Florida. >> Yep. Now, uh, correction, Chick McGee, you know, I love you. They are the Miami Marlins. They're not the Florida Marlins anymore. >> That that those habits are dying hard with a lot of people. >> Well, it's alliteration.

There's too many there's too many syllables to be that alliterative. It's the same amount of syllables. >> I understand that. But when it's you expect it to be shorter and closer together. >> No, Miami Marllins flows nicely. >> Nothing in the Marlins flows nicely. >> Oh, that's a nice park though. >> Except for co >> I like that park. >> I've never been there. >> I haven't been there yet. >> Hopefully I can go there next summer when I go down for my reunion. >> Hopefully we can physically go down there.

>> Oh, I'm driving. I don't care. >> No, I meant for the park. >> Oh, that's fair. Yeah. >> Uh but but hey, Globe Life is still doing tours. >> That is true. And the barn looks interesting. >> We need to make a field trip. >> Have either of you guys been? >> Not yet. >> No, not yet. I want to. I I think we should make a field trip. >> Uh Jess has been pushing to go, so she'll definitely be in on that. >> All she do is call us. Let's go. >> Not to plug uh any of the other shows, but the mom game, Emily Jones is she's uh I think she was there a few times.

Uh >> we are allowed to say hello to Emily Jones McCoy anytime we want because she was one of the people at Ragnarok that did a video and she name checked me. So she can do whatever she wants. She has cart blanch in my opinion. She has also done the big show for Who Needs Sleep twice and I am a huge fan of her and The Mom Game is a great show. You should be checking that out, too. >> Well, that's also not one of the shows that's ducking us. So, we definitely want to give them a pass. >> That's fair.

People try to You can't You can't escape us forever. Uh, so Baltimore leaves before the Florida homeowner opener. >> The Miami home opener. See, I just did it. Um, >> technically it is Florida, though. the the uh the I just lost who are the current world champions? >> The Astros. >> The Nationals. >> The Nationals. Oh, Nationals. I couldn't remember the Nats. The Nats apparently on Wednesday had a team vote and said, "We ain't going." >> Yeah. >> Which I thought was amazing, >> which also appears to be the smartest move a team is making.

>> Teacher, we're not doing the homework today. Um, so then the Phillies have to cancel their series with the Yankees because the Marlins were the visiting team when the breakout happened. By the way, the guys that tested positive just got home yesterday via sleeper bus. They didn't even charter them a plane, which would have been the smarter move anyway because you can seal a cockpit on a plane. a bus that's a little bit tougher. >> Well, if it's a quote unquote sleeper bus, we don't know that that's true.

>> Just saying. >> Well, we have you ever been on a sleeper bus? >> Well, then after that, um I can either confirm nor deny. >> I haven't. So, I don't know. Maybe that cockpit is cut off on a bus. >> Well, then how do you get off the bus? >> Two separate exits. >> Uh but at then we find out Friday that the Phillies have suspended or Thursday the Phillies have suspended operations quote indefinitely. Yeah. If you would like to know the definitions of indefinitely, >> no, please >> go to last week's episode.

>> Hi, Don. >> The Brewers delay. By the way, Don, I said, Don and Jen, both out on assignment tonight. Uh, the Brewers delay their home opener. >> Then Major League Baseball comes out and says every team has to have a compliance officer. Now, good luck. >> Yeah, surgical masks must be used instead of cloth masks. However, the problem there is the cloth masks are branded. >> Yep. >> So, what you're seeing now is what WWE is doing. >> Uhhuh. >> By wearing the surgical masks underneath the cloth masks, which then make brings into question your >> Why do you have the cloth mask?

Yeah. >> Um, but the qu and by the way, double headers now will only be seven innings a piece, >> which is something that has been in the works long before COVID. I'm very intrigued. >> Agree. Disagree. >> A double header is two games. No, just a concept. >> OKAY. OH, JUST TWO GAMES. You're gonna do this thing with extra innings. It's free baseball. So, I'm not really going to debate you on that. >> I pay for two games. I'm getting two games. Not softball rules. >> What are your guys' thoughts on the injected crowd noise?

>> I like it. Hate it. I I I hate artificial noise. It >> It's not as bad as the artificially injected crowd. >> We'll get to that. >> But the noise, >> especially we get the NBA. >> I I appreciate that somebody is paying attention though. I They have been good about the noise or or the cheers as we'll call it or the booze. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> They're timing it very very well. >> I like it because if I didn't have it, I feel like on a certain level I could be taken out of the game. That's fair because I'm not necessarily paying attention to the cardboard cutouts.

>> Yeah. >> Or the mascots blooper. Um talking to you. But I but the the crowd noise to me brings ambiance and I I I like that it's not it's not NBA the show or no NBA 2K. Um, but I I like it. I I haven't seen the Fox presentation, so I You have? I have not. >> So, I need to see what that looks like. >> I It can't be as bad as the NBA. >> It can't. >> I will also go as far as to say that I played sports. I was on teams through or up into college. >> You did. >> So, there is a bias on my side. I like hearing the calls from the dugout.

I like hearing different aspects of it. I don't care if you have to tag it TVMA. Let him drop an Fbomb. I don't care. But at the same time, if you're >> also better than the NBA in the NBA, >> if you're filling in noise, you're just adding noise. Let people get kind of an a sneak peek of that people actually do scream he's going or something along those lines or different shifts being called or I find that to be intriguing because it's more of the chess match that baseball can be. question goes, we now have three teams that have been affected by this directly and then probably another three to four affected indirectly because they were supposed to play those teams.

>> How far does this go before we can start having the discussion of scrapping the season? because you you can't hold the the Major League Baseball organization to the same logistics that you can do the NHL and the NBA because those are indoor sports. You can make the bubble work. Baseball and football are the tougher of the two in my opinion. Soccer sits right there in the middle because the MLS seems to be doing okay for the most part. They had a team that had results go went home. Happened twice.

Dallas being one of those teams. Major League Baseball is where my concern comes into play because I don't think they've put the right protocols in Marwin's players seen also at Magic City allegedly because of course they were. Don't get me started. I thought you were going to name drop seminal Hard Rock there. No, I don't think No, >> there were players seen at Seminal Hard. >> Okay. I had heard rumors of Magic City. I can either confirm or deny that's where they were. But it was a place of its ilk, if anything.

>> No, they did play Atlanta though, didn't they? No, they didn't play. They only played New York because they only played that opening weekend. So, it couldn't have been Magic City unless they were training somewhere. >> Well, they played at home the first series. >> It's a long way from Miami to Atlanta. No, no, no. What I'm saying >> regardless what I think the bigger issue is with this the bubble is that you have less people that you have to >> account for basketball you're not doing the entire league.

>> Well, but that's one aspect to it. But the idea is is in basketball you got what 10 11 guys on a bench at most. >> At most >> baseball you're looking at 30. Football you're looking at 50. And well actually with the uh with Major League Baseball it's 35 now. >> But my point but where I'm going with this is >> 35 guys 33 I think is now >> 18 of them have tested positive on the Marlins. That's half your team gone. Yeah. Then you know it's it's bad when I get a notification on my phone as we're watching the game today that says two days in a row with no positive tests for the Miami Marlins >> and we want to hang the mission accomplished banner.

I'm just going to be we're going to I'm really going to be watching the NLB situation very very closely especially for I think the next seven days are critical. >> I was gonna say so if uh I have a question on on that especially regarding the you know the hot bed in in Miami right now with the Marlins. What what's your what's your take on uh the protocol or the process that they're going through after you get COVID? What's the window of how you how you have to quarantine and then if they test negative multiple times, right?

I think it's like two or three times, are they allowed to come back? >> So, yeah, if they negative twice. Yeah. >> But, interestingly enough, they've been able to get fasttracked and get results in a day or two. >> But I have an interesting very off-the-wall idea. >> Okay. You have a team that tests positive. Most of them are asymptomatic. The only one that I've heard that wasn't was Freddy Freeman, and that was during the offseason, and we're glad he's better. >> Freddy's great. >> What if you have a separate pool that teams that test positive go and play each other?

No, seriously, send them to a bubble in Vancouver or something and let them play each other. I like to quote the great historian and philosopher Michael Mazaninan. >> Really? >> Yes. >> Really? >> Yes. >> No. >> Yeah. I'm not sure if that is a get the season over. >> Negative. Ghost Rider. >> You're insane. >> Yes. But we knew this. >> What would you do? Like bug bomb the bubble when they were done? Well, one of the teams is Philadelphia, so it might be a different kind of bomb. Please send all hate mail to Alex Barnhaniel.

>> I'm wearing the wrong shirt. >> Even though >> I should have worn the shirt from the last one right now. >> Although, shout out to Big Tony's Cheese Stakes in and Plano as suggested by a friend of the show, Steven Zimmerman. >> I will cosign. We are going there. >> Understood. >> That is now that I'm allowed out legit. >> That was the one of the plans if you were going to come up that we were going to do that and we're just having to redo those plans. Do we just tell them? >> No, you were supposed to come visit me and then you couldn't because you had stuff going on.

>> Oh, I understand. >> That's your business, not mine. >> So, so, so just to clarify for the viewers in the audience, what um viewers and listeners, what So, >> what do the players do when they test negative? Do they come back? >> They stay in quarantine quarantine. It's a second negative test or 14 days, I think, whichever comes first. >> Well, 14 days with no symptoms. >> Correct. >> Yes. uh but at the way that they have been expediting the tests, they're doing the two tests before they're getting to the 14 days, >> right?

Um but at the same time, if they have an outbreak such as this, they're sending them straight into quarantine. >> Uh and but the problem that you then face is the, for lack of a better term, collateral damage that comes with that because, >> you know, like like with the Nationals, like we ain't going down there, right? You know, I mean, you gotta flea dip that entire locker room at a minimum. >> It is Miami, so you might have to do it regardless. But that's my town. I'm allowed to say that. >> There's a reason that it was known as the rat box at the arena.

>> This is a mess. >> Meanwhile, the NBA doing very, very well. They came back live this weekend. Sucks to have the under in the Mavericks Rockets game Friday night. Jay, did you see that score? >> I did. I saw the I saw the highlights and I was upset that the Mavs Yeah. >> 163 to 159. I'm like, is it Allstar break? I have no idea. >> They actually extended it to eight quarters, >> but ESPN is going to be using a rail cam that will move up and down the court with the action, which I'm very interested.

But it's only going to be available on ESPN Plus. >> Okay. Uh but I will say something that I didn't think I would. Okay. >> NBA since I've come back. Not garbage. I have been enjoying the everything they've been doing. >> What do you think of the way they're doing the crowd though? >> For those of you that haven't seen this, I knocking it out. This is very very tough for me. Jay, have you seen the way they're doing the crowd? >> I have not. >> So, what they're doing and Atlanta does this, but they do it on their jumbotron.

This is how the NBA is doing their crowds. So, it's a picture on a big screen because we talked last week on the show about how they were just showing generic crowds, but they were like way up close so that it wasn't size proportional. So, what they've done is they have the big screen and on the big screen there are pictures of seats, seatbacks. They have superimposed in front of each seatback a live person watching the game on their Zoom camera. It is very strange. I have said how many times on the show that virtual backgrounds are not a good idea.

This is like the worstcase idea of this. We've had enough issues with people randomly showing up on Zoom meetings for professional situations. I love that new Heineken commercial where they're showing people that have and like their phones are flopping over. Like the one guy's on a Zoom meeting and his girlfriend comes in with like a full mud mask on and stuff like that. It's so weird. Like I appreciate that they're trying things. Jay, did you get it? I just sent it over to you. >> Uh, one second.

It's so weird. I I don't know how I feel about this. Well, it it it's almost one of those where if we were in an alternate reality where the players are having to play for their livelihood, like it's Space Jam, but not as terrible. Uh, >> everybody get up and slide, >> but everybody on the Zoom wall is like judging them as to whether or not they are pleased. My favorite one was the guy that got up and he was wearing a Microsoft Excel logo t-shirt. That was during the Milwaukee game. It was I mean a green t-shirt with the 2020 office Excel logo on it.

>> Yeah. I wonder where he works. >> Yeah. Or is getting a check from somebody. >> Yeah. We'll see. >> You know that's actually not a bad idea. Like find people that do these things and like here wear my t-shirt >> and we see it better. >> Wait, we know where to go because you can go to pay somebody to do that if they want to buy it and wear it. I'm okay with it. I can't pay somebody to wear a t-shirt of ours from pro wrestling.com/thecheepodcast. I like how you had to interrupt where I was going with this.

>> I was I didn't want you to dawn up the thing. >> I don't dawn things. >> Jay, do you see the picture? >> I'm pulling it up now. >> Tell me how wheels off that looks. It's like they're a bunch of ventriloquist dummies that are that are wearing blue pants, but they're on a blue screen background. >> Oh, yeah. >> Very weird. And then you got the people wearing their headphones instead of just using the carriers on the computer. >> Oh, there's an eject button. >> If somebody decides they want to do something like they're going to get paid for or let's say not wear something, there is an automatic eject button.

>> Oh, I love I want But I want >> I want that power. >> I want the video. >> I want that power. I want to just watch the crowd and just be like, >> "No, >> but only if it I'm only okay with this if it actually ejects them out of the picture." Like an ejection scene. Then then you have me at that point. You have >> No, no, no. Even worse, it ejects them down and you just hear screaming and fire. >> Freaking sharks with freaking laser beams on their freaking heads. Okay, NCAA, the ACC is going to start September 12th and they will include Notre Dame in their conferenceonly uh schedule.

Now, here's the thing. I know Miami is in the ACC. I know Florida State's in the ACC. That has nothing to do with what I'm about to say. I want Notre Dame to win the ACC title in the worst possible way. >> There there's only probably one or two teams that would be in the way of that. >> And they're eligible for they said it. They are eligible for the title game. >> But I mean, you think >> and my sister being a big Notre Dame fan also has nothing to do with this. I want this chaos. I want them to have to award I want them to have to award that championship to a team that isn't even in the conference in football.

Oh, what if that was the hook though? What if what if the hook was you can win the ACC, but now you're part of the ACC. >> I want NBC to have to say ACC champion Notre Dame and everything. >> Hey, if if they beat Clemson, they're good. >> I was going to say there's only one thing that that would I would be okay with more because that's a big match. >> I like Trevor Lawrence. I like that kid. >> Well, I but he's won enough. He can lose one because I want Chaos. Well, when we get to the NFL, we'll touch on something else in that.

>> And I want Florida State and Miami fans to have to recognize Notre Dame as their champion. >> I love this. I'm on board. I'm 100% on board. >> I feel bad that I gave Charlotte my Notre Dame hat now because I would wear it cuz I've been there. I've been to a game there. >> When they beat San Diego State in the fourth quarter, I saw a touchdown Jesus. And it really does when you're sitting cuz I was sitting like on the press box side. It really does look like Jesus is going touchdown. Um, it'll be 11 games for the ACC because they're going to have one non-conference game, but Notre Dame counts as conference, which I think I I can't wait.

I want this so bad. Uh, the SEC and the Pack 12 will both start September 26 with a 10-ame conference only schedule. The weirdest thing to me, and Jay, I want to hear your opinion on this because this really could signal some very important shifts for 2020 college football. You may, and Jay, if you want to write this down and cover it on Big 12 Talk, I'm good with it. >> And you're welcome. >> The SEC Championship is scheduled for no for December 19th, >> which under normal circumstances is only two days before bowl season.

This is the one thing that we have not heard discussed yet is bowl season. Now, many people can make an assumption that we're going to cut straight to the playoffs. Playoffs. I think my my Jim Bor is pretty solid. By the way, Jay, what are your thoughts here? Because with the SEC Championship being announced to be so late in the year, do we are we putting are we already just saying flush the bowl season, no pun intended, to go straight to the playoffs? Are we still going to try to do a bowl season?

Because this is this is going to get weird. I I just I agree. It's just so close to bowl. I mean, I don't I don't see any of the the bowl seasons early on, like the bowl games early on being as big of an as an importance as they normally are. I mean, w with I think it was the Big 12, right? If they're they're looking to push it back to December 19th as well, right? >> I have not heard anything out of the Big 12 yet. They're the only conference that has not >> correct. >> And now they have said that Oklahoma is moving their opener up a week, correct?

>> Which I think is kind of aggressive. >> Yeah. I obviously the reasoning behind that is because they want, you know, a cushion between if something happens then their medical personnel can deal >> like the NFL is doing with weeks one through three. >> Yeah, exactly. So that's that's why Oklahoma's doing that and yeah, they obviously got the approval already from that. But I just don't I mean as far as pushing the the championships back, I mean then you know then it's just a mad rush to make a decision on you know let's say the Big 12 does go to a a nine or 10 game season.

Um, you know, they're obviously going to play everyone in in in their conference and then maybe have one non-conference, but even if they go to a nine-game season, I mean, that will prove a disadvantage for the Big 12 and then they push back the conference championship and then you have to make a decision right after that to to, you know, who makes the playoffs. I mean, I feel like at this point, yes, I mean, you should sort of sort of cut, you know, not cut the fat, but I mean, at least focus more on the important games.

I know everyone loves to see those bowl games. I mean, I personally do, but >> it's a big part of the show. >> It correct. I I just I don't know how it's going to be how it's still going to have the same effect when you push back all the conference championship games and then have to make a quick decision a and have I mean >> who knows I mean it it could it could play into their favor. I mean the the chaos that may ensue could be a good thing. You know people have something to talk about. >> You're dealing with too >> you would have to do selection Sunday the next day.

Correct. >> If you're going to indeed play 8,473 bowl games like you do. >> However, what what they'll probably what I think they'll end up doing power five championship winners go into your playoffs. You have an atlarge bid. Top two seeds get a buy. This could be the year that you could tinker with that. But again, we have heard no chatter about an even a plan for the postseason. And Alex, you did have your hand up, but I want to go. >> I I was trying to be courteous. Uh, what I'm going to say, I don't like >> Okay, go ahead.

>> I think we're going to wind up having the least amount of bowls that we've had in decades. >> I'm okay with that. >> No, no, no, no. I I think you're going to wind up with a situation where you have your playoff games. You have your historical bowls like the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, and different aspects that aren't part of that playoffs. And we're going to have probably 10 to 12 bowl games. I'm okay with that. I I'm okay with that, too, because especially But you also have to look at the number of teams that would normally be in those lower bold bold tiers >> that are pushing their football and fall programs back to the spring.

But the other aspect to this is you think about I I just realized I'm going to say something. >> The Tony the Tiger Bowl OR DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE THAT. SO, BUT WHAT I'M SAYING IS YOU GET those bowl games that have these smaller companies, >> Continental Tire Bowl. >> Exactly. Things like that where this is a major purchase for them as a company for the year are probably not doing great right now. >> Or >> but but wait, let me finish this real quick. >> Go ahead. >> Maybe they don't have the funds to pay for a bowl, so they just don't do it.

or with and I just thought of this just now with all of the lower tier conferences and I hate to say it that way but let's be honest that are pushing back to the spring do those lower tier bowl do you do those lower tier bowls in spring as the spring game I could see that actually I got another interesting one for you what if we move all the bowls to next summer move them all just don't do them in Texas >> anywhere in Southshaw. >> Somebody But somebody like Trevor Lawrence, >> he's just not I'm I'm calling it right now.

There's going to be a bunch of players like Trevor Lawrence who are all but guaranteed first round pick no matter what happens. >> They're going to opt out. >> They're going to opt out. We're not going to have it. Which is all the more reason why we probably will have the ACC champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish. >> Please let this happen. Please let this happen. Please let this happen. >> But I still >> Is it weird that I'm praying for Notre Dame? Is there Is there a weird irony? I don't believe that's ironic.

I believe that's expected. >> Is it meta? >> I don't know if it's meta. I think >> there is a great Haywood Bank song where he talks about, you know, if you're praying for this, if you're praying for this, God's not listening because there's a game in Notre Dame. >> It's a great song. >> Oh my. >> Um, but you're going to have a lot of people that are opting out that don't need this season. Yeah, it's going to be this is going to be a this is going to be another one of those seasons that you just kind of have to put an asterisk next to all the stats >> if we have a season.

Let's I mean I >> we're all hopeful for >> I was going to say I was going to say I was going to say let's try to take it one week at a time as as much as we want to go into the bowl you which I >> I like how the college bowl season hit or >> I want to see all I want to see all them even playing but I mean yeah it's just like it it it's a massive massive not benefit but miracle if they make it through the season. >> Well and some of the Bulls playing in an empty stadium won't be that much of a difference.

That's also true >> because if you you weren't there, but two years ago when we went to the bowl game at the the the Hunger over at um >> Fair Park >> at uh Cotton Bowl, >> you could not have filled one section when it was Boston College versus Boyise State and then >> Well, that was the one that had inclement weather. >> Yeah, it got rained out. But even when the game started, it was me and Mikey. uh Gump was there and it was just like and Phil was there and it was like you could take every fan in the stadium right now and you could fit them into one section.

So some of these bowls like the Hawaii Bowl not that much of a difference because they don't put a lot of fans in that bowl. >> I Yeah, I will say one more thing regarding the playoffs. Uh I agree with you what you said earlier Rob. This is a year uh you know if any to to be flexible, take chances, take risks on what a five team, six team, seven team playoff would look like. Why not? >> Cuz I've always wanted eight. I thought eight was a good number. >> You know what? Let let's let's match match the NFL this year.

Scrap the bowls. Let's go with 12 or uh wait, what are we up to now? 14 teams >> in the NFL. Yeah. Oh, I think it's 14. Yeah. >> Okay. So, let's go with the top 14. Play that up. Let's do the national championship game the day before the Super Bowl. Let's have the greatest weekend in all of football. >> Jeez, if I've only said that every year for the last decade. >> Yes, you have. >> And what else have I said that goes with that? The divorce rate in this country skyrockets because you play the national championship game the day before the Super Bowl in the city where the Super Bowl's going to be the next year.

Still not remembering why the marriage matters or the divorce rate >> because wives will not see their husbands for about two weeks. >> There'll be a lot of football widows as they like to say. >> Let let me go ahead and classify that under not my problem. >> Yeah. Yeah. Not my problem either. My wife just goes just let him go. He'll tucker himself out eventually. Let's get into the NFL. Antonio Brown officially suspended for eight games assuming he's signed by somebody. Is that how this works? Well, he's already retired four times this offseason, >> but I'm saying like, does the suspension start when he signs with 18?

Because Lamar Jackson wants him. >> I don't think Lamar Jackson's great at making decisions. But, uh, I I actually I don't I believe it would be because he has no paycheck that it would start with week one. >> I I I believe his suspension would be not being involved. So, even if he's not signed, I believe it's through eight weeks. This >> I disagree. It's got to I don't know. I'm I if only we had somebody to look this up and >> now granted Now granted I it did bring up the great memes from Friday's.

How do you get fired on your day off? >> That's true. >> Uh while you're looking that up, Joe Burrow has signed his deal with Cincinnati. Four years 36 million on his rookie contract. Joey Bosa signs a deal with the Chargers. Five years, $135 million. Highest contract for a defensive player. If your last name is Bosa or Watt, you are worth every penny the leak wants to pay you and then some. >> Unless you're TJ Watt. >> Hey, I give him a pass. He's a Watt. >> Oh, no. Excuse me, Derek Watt. I got the wrong one.

>> Okay. Um, >> you have to have initials before Watt to be worthwhile. >> Patrick Mahomes further ingraining himself in the city of Kansas City by buying a piece of the Royals. >> Did we ever get confirmation on how big a piece? >> I have not heard yet. because I want to say that the Royals are one of the lower value by Forbes, not by team, just lower value by Forbes as far as buying into it. Uh, I I was watching something the other day and the there was a stat that kind of blew me away that Oh, it was because I was watching the Dodger game and they were talking to the lady that did the remodel for the Dodger Stadium for Camden and for um she worked on Turner Field, but I think she worked on Fenway.

That Dodger Stadium was the longest running stadium without a renov renovation of its kind. Wow. >> Because it had been there since the 60s without any kind of major renovation. >> And have you seen what they're doing with Dodger Stadium? It's going to be pretty dope. >> No, I have not seen this. >> It looks amazing. That this this lady like they have said like they were saying on the game last Sunday night cuz I was watching the Dodger game because again, she worked she converted Turnerfield from the Olympics.

She worked on the Camden remodel. She worked on the Fenway remodel. She's working on the Dodgers remodel. They're like, "Put her in the Hall of Fame." A-Rod was A-Rod was like, "Let me tell you something. She has made all four of those stadiums four of my favorite places to go in in Major League Baseball." He goes, "The first time I went into Camden Yards, it was so overwhelming. I was like, it can't get better than this." And I went back after she did what she did, and it made it even better. So, >> I will say Camden Yards, I if I had to pick, >> I've been there.

I have been there. >> But I if I had to pick, that's my favorite stadium. >> It is a gorgeous stadium. I >> If only for Boo. And I was there when A-Rod was chasing some home run mark. I can't remember which one it was, but I was there. >> Yeah, Pops. >> Would have been 08 or 09. >> Pops was there for Ripken's uh record breaker. >> I did see the number on the wall. Uh so the eight game suspension starts with week one regardless. >> Disagree. Uh but there are people saying that it is more uh I'm trying to think of the they're trying to see where the what the word to relay it would be is it's more ceremonial which is the not right word but because they're saying that there is another suspension apparently coming from other cases that he's dealing with.

>> Uh so six New England Patriots have opted out >> Patrick Chung and Dante High Totower being two of the bigger names. Mhm. >> Uh Jay, have you heard how this opt- out thing works? >> Uh, no. So, shock of the century. I was listening to the Pat McAfee show the other day. He was talking to AJ Hawk. AJ Hawk, who I am a huge fan of, is still very ingrained in the league. >> Brady Quinn sister. >> Yes, he did. So McAfee was talking about the minimum pay for players who opt out is $150,000. Now depending on position and and and tenure, I think it can go up to $500,000.

And he would and and Miy was like, "Well, the NFL PA finally got something wrong." And AJ went, "Not so fast, Speedraer." There's a caveat to this. If you opt out in the 2020 season, yes, you get that money, but that money is taken out of your 2021 pay. Let me say that again for the people in the cheap seats. 150,000 lowest end, great, but you lose 150 grand out of next year's salary. Uh quick note, >> how many Patriots did you say have opted out? >> Last I knew six. >> We are now up to eight. >> So almost one side of the ball.

>> And that is actually as of about 6 hours ago. >> And Bellich's in his office going, "I'm not worried about it. We're >> No, no. Bellich's on the phone telling him, "Yeah, opt out. We need this Lawrence kid." >> Um and over 30 people leaguewide now, probably closer to 40 at this point, >> positive >> that have opted out. Oh, okay. But I will say that a lot of the NFL testing based on the percentage of people being tested is significantly lower than I'm still worried. >> Well, obviously because of close contact, >> contact sport.

>> Technically, it's a collision sport. >> Yeah, I'm very worried about football season because it is my favorite sport of the year. It is my favorite time of the year. I just wanna I want to watch sports. All right, let's get out of sports and get into the pop culture part of this. Starting with TV. ABC announcing that the prime time Emmys on September 22nd will be produced virtually. I kind of been digging everything that's going virtual ever since the NFL draft and everything. It's run smoother virtually.

It's been better. There's been less fluff and annoyance. And American Idol will host virtual auditions this year as well. >> Interesting. Can we skip a year? Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Nobody's watching anyway. Uh CBS Star Trek Discovery season 3 on CBS All Access will debut October 15th. They will be adding over 70 shows next year. Wow. Now, we talked earlier this year about them changing branding, which they are still going to do because they're going to be absorbing Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, and some of the other uh Viacom um properties as well.

And apparently, and this is not I was did not know about this. Apparently, they have decided that this new version of the stand not going theatrical, it's going to CBS All Access later this year. Oh, really? >> So, the book that you can use as a carjack will be a multi-part series, which I think was the plan anyway. At least two films. >> Yeah. So, uh, Disney Plus is going to I apparently I didn't know this was a thing that was going to go theatrical, but, uh, they're going to release on Disney Plus later this year.

They did a remake of Black Beauty. >> Really? >> Yeah, apparently. >> Wait, I want to say that was about 10 years ago or >> they did they did a new one. >> Oh, really? Okay. >> Uh, they are adapting something we saw recently. Well, not recently, but before the world shut down, Once Upon this Once on this island, which is a musical we saw at the Windspear Opera House. They're adapting that for Disney Plus. It's a really fun story. Uh, I don't want to give away too much, but I really enjoyed it. But what I really liked about it is you could buy tickets and sit on the stage.

They had seating on the stage for the audience for that musical. Very cool. It's a very interesting musical. It's a little bit different in style, but I really dug it. Uh, and because Dwayne Johnson doesn't have enough to do, but I love this. Yeah, he is working with Disney Plus on a 10part documentary series that is going to look at the history of the most popular rides at the Disney parks. >> I am here >> for it. Oh no, Jungle Cruis is going to have to >> which has been pushed back again. >> Yeah.

>> Um I've just stopped talking a lot about re-release dates because I just want to go if you are waiting for it, it's not going to happen anytime soon. Uh, >> let's do the the caveat of when there is a release date, then we'll say something. >> Uh, Mark Mark Walters, I put something on his page when they when they move tenant again. I said every trailer for every movie going forward should just say at some point. That's just that's all it should say for a release just later. >> Yeah. Uh, Fox is putting a new show with Kim Catrell called Filthy Rich that will premiere September 21st at 9 Eastern, right after they premiere uh, LA's Finest, which has been a Comcast thing for a while.

Speaking of Comcast, there are rumors that G4 will be a Peacock exclusive, which makes me go, "Wait, wait, wait, wait, no, no, no. That doesn't make it a network. That just makes it something that's on Peacock." >> Yeah. If you're going to do that, make it its own app. >> Well, it was one of I want to say G4 was one of the original network apps. >> I don't know. >> I I would No, when apps first became a thing, I think the G4 app was like the first one I downloaded or at least it was in the early round and it was a link to all of their news sources, all their video and things.

It was it was a early adopter. So, there's already a framework for what you're talking about. HBO has a total of 160 Emmy nominations this year >> because why wouldn't they? >> 26 of them are Watchmen. >> That I did see. >> Go. That was so good, >> man. That was so good. I still not caught up on Perry Mason, but I need to get that done. >> Um >> I think Watchmen might be the next thing after I finish Sopranos. What I love what I love love love about Watchmen is if you know the source material, you have a better appreciation for what's going on, but you don't necessarily have to be well ingrained with Watchmen to enjoy that series.

>> I would also encourage you to go to Fat Man Beyond and go to the interview that Mark Bernardan did with Damon Lindelof after you watch it because there's a lot of spoilers in it. >> Okay, >> it's a really good interview where Lindelof was like originally that was two separate projects. He'd been wanting to because a lot of it deals with Black Wall Street in Tulsa, >> right? >> He wanted to do that as a miniseries because when he realized how many people didn't know that story and then HBO was like, well, we kind of want to do a Watchman thing and Lindelof going, I might be able to connect these two and he does it brilliantly.

>> So >> interesting. And uh because of that show, somebody's getting closer to an EGOT. And we'll talk about that here in just a moment. Um the Golden Globes are set for February 28th next year, which is almost two months later than normal because normally that's mid January, which means probably they're going to push the the I mean they're I know they're pushing the Oscars back anyway, >> right? >> Because of their extending qualification periods and things like that, >> especially with the special parameters that they're laying out.

So, remember when Brad Pitt played Anthony Fouchy during SNL at home as a Cold Open? We talked about it. He got an Emmy nomination for that. So, masletov to him. Wow. Uh, let's see. And it was announced that The Office will be on Peacock in 2021 with extended episodes. Dav talking to you. >> Wait, I I need you to clarify. Extended episodes. >> So, like stuff that was cut out. I'm assuming they haven't said exactly, but that >> there's your hook. At the at this whole point, it's been the only thing is that Peacock is going to get >> catch hell for taking it away from Netflix where everybody, let's be honest, there's probably 60% of people who have Netflix, just refer to it as the Office app.

>> Yeah. >> Uh but if you have the extended episodes and there's more material that we haven't gotten before, congratulations. You figured out how to fix the matrix. >> I almost bought a Threat Level Midnight T-shirt the other day. I have come close a couple of times. >> Uh let's see. Where are we? Netflix news. Uh Tiger King has gotten six Emmy nominations. >> This is the world I live in. >> But it it's one of those where it's like I need to hear what those are. >> I def I need to hear what those nominations are.

>> Money Heist, which is a uh a foreign series that they do, has been renewed for a fifth and final season. I hear very mixed reviews about that show. Uh we found out more Dave news. Uh, in September we will have the animation debut of Jurassic World Camp Crustaceious. They announced that this week. That's going to debut next month. >> Uh, let's see. Where are we? There's also going to be a prequel series of The Witcher that's going to talk about the very first Witcher. >> Okay. Because if you've watched The Witcher, it's >> I want it's it's on my list.

>> Be be prepared for time jumping. That's Oh, >> can't be as bad as season one of Westworld. It's all >> You want to bet? >> Oh dear. >> Oh, no. No, I I need eye contact. Look at me. I am the captain now. >> The Witcher time jumping makes Westworld season one look linear. >> Oh dear. Uh, >> there's no prompting. >> One of the more popular things with the kids with the clothes in the hair that they've done is they did a thing called The Kissing Booth. The Kissing Booth 2 came out recently. Apparently, they've already filmed this the third one in secret and it's going to debut next year.

>> Sean is a big fan. >> So, >> so she she's already watching. >> I know she's on the roads, but when she watches, >> she's there. They're in. >> Well, they're probably getting ready for business and things like that. So, I know she's probably not watching tonight. >> That sick person was already in the office and finished working for the day >> because that's how she rolls. >> I didn't call you sick. He did. >> I'll say it to her face. I don't mind. >> Derek Coloula, the guy that created John Wick.

You might be interested in this. >> Yes, I am. >> He is working on an animated series for Netflix based on Splinter Cell. >> Oh, okay. >> On the the Tom Clansancy series. >> Yeah. No, no, no. I'm I'm I'm very much on board. I was expecting this to go a different direction and then I realized that was more Keanu news that we didn't cover last week, but uh we'll touch on that later. Okay. Um I only put this in Netflix. This this is not necessarily going to Netflix, but because something he's working on right now is going to be on Netflix.

It's the only reason I'm putting this here because I don't know where it's going to be yet. Kevin Smith is working on a familyfriendly animated series for The Green Hornet. >> Interesting. I I will be very intrigued to see how Kevin Smith handles this based on certain things obviously with our modern times and >> bias with I think your your biggest um gauge of this is going to be when Masters of the Universe Revelations drops >> that is very and I can't wait. Have you The cast on this thing >> the cast is amazing.

>> All I know >> I just lost her name. Game of Thrones. Shame. >> Shame. Wait, which part are you talking about? Uh, >> Lena Headley. >> Yeah, Lena Headley. >> She's playing Evil in. >> Yeah, >> take my money. I I know you already do Netflix, but just go ahead and take my money. >> Uh, and Skeletor being played by Mark Camel could be one of the greatest things at 202. >> Absolutely. >> They are this and over the next six months, here's everything that the series that are being added to Netflix and in their entirety.

Mhm. >> Moisha, >> the game, >> Sister Sister, Girlfriends, The Parkers, Half and Half, and Oneon-One. So, if you watched anything on UPN in the mid '90s, it's going to be available on Netflix very, very soon. So, you got that going for you right this uh Quibby actually got 10 Emmy nominations. Who knew? Uh, Showtime has renews their Vice docu series for a second season, and Stars has renewed P Valley for season two. uh television on DVD and Blu-ray this week. His Dark Materials, the HBO series, season one of that.

Jack Ryan season two and the complete Tom Baker season 3 of Doctor Who available on DVD and Blu-ray this week. We get into some music talk. Thank you YouTube if you're Irish. They have donated $1.5 million to the Irish live music industry. Awesome. And that's after they gave€ 10 million euros to Irish Irish COVID 19 relief uh efforts in April. >> Wow. >> Like you can say what you want about Bono. Bono does love him some Bono. >> Yeah. >> But that dude knows how to help causes. I'm just saying. He's one of the founders of Red.

>> Not the band, the cause. >> Uh congratulations to Alton John. I don't if you saw this this week. He has celebrated 30 years of sobriety this week >> with a very very nice uh social media post about >> awesome. >> Uh he used the Gar Brooks thing this week. Holy saw cow. >> I saw some responses to it too. >> And you know respect baller move. Gar Brooks goes to the Cas and says, "Hey, can you just kind of make me entertainer of the year ameritus just honorary?" and they went, "No, we're not going to do that." So Gar Brook says, "Okay." Goes on the internet, goes to I think it was on a YouTube live or Facebook live and says, "Hey, I'm pulling myself out of contention for entertainer of the year." >> Baller baller move.

He's like, "Look, there's so so many guys out there that deserve it more than me." >> Yeah. >> If you if you won't do this honorary thing because I've won it so many times, which why wouldn't you? It's G. Brooks, >> right? The guy basically saved the industry in the 90s. >> I'm still a huge fan. >> He was the first country video ever played on VH1, much less made it to number one >> with the Thunder Rolls. >> Such a great song. >> Disturbing, but great song. >> I like the with the third verse, though.

>> Uh, let's see. The Chain Smokers, which I've always loved that name. They did a drive-in concert did not go well. Um, nobody was social distanced. People were getting out of their cars and they have come under a lot of fire both for and against within the industry. >> I'm pretty sure soiety was an issue. >> Uh, VMA nominations also out this week because that still is a thing. Uh, led by Lady Gaga, excuse me, and Ariana Grande. Got that going for you, which is nice. >> Yeah. Uh, from the business side, Spotify has claimed 138 million paid subscribers, but apparently suffered pretty big losses in their first all pandemic early earning cycle.

A 2% increase in Q2 versus 17% in Q1. Adup supported revenue for Spotify dropped 21% in Q2. Right now, they're averaging 299 million active users, which is 8 million more than Q1, but you're looking at less than half of those being paid memberships. >> Well, it's so when they say people have to cut back, let's >> if there's a free version of something, it's probably going to take a hit. Uh Marilyn Manson's new album will be called We Are Chaos. I don't know if I agree with the release date. I'm gonna do something called We Are Chaos and drop it on September 11th, but that's Marilyn Manson.

That was far from the shock value of it. >> We said earlier somebody could be closer to an EGOT because he already has a Grammy. He already has an Oscar. Trent Resner was nominated for an Emmy for his worth his work on Watchmen. >> Trevor Raven actually did that. >> See, the hard part with that one is I'm trying to think of Trent Resnner or Trent Resnner. How would that Tony happen? It'll happen. >> Who cares? Because I I'm not a huge N. I love Pretty Hate Machine. I think it's an amazing album. After that, it gets a little pretentious for me.

>> Well, that's Trent Resnner, >> but his work in scores cuz he won the Oscar for the Social Network. >> Yes. >> His scores are amazing. >> He He is And I actually did a report on him in my music theory class. His understanding of emotions and tone is otherworldly. And uh Jennifer Lopez and Shakira were also nominated for the Super Bowl halftime show. I didn't know you could do that. >> Nor did I. >> But apparently they got nominated for Emmys. >> Oh, that's at least half deserving >> because And well, actually, wouldn't that put Jennifer Lopez?

>> Don't say it, please. >> But wouldn't that put her threequarters of the way there? Doesn't she have an Oscar? >> I don't believe she does. >> I will look it up. >> Verify that. >> I will look it up. And if it is, I will commit suicide >> because I mean, we know she has at least one Grammy. >> Well, yes, because music voters are Comedy Dynamics has announced that they have acquired quote hundreds of hours of previously unreleased Joan Rivers material they are going to release on albums in 2021.

So I am looking forward to that because I've always found her to be very very funny and there's a great documentary about her out there right now. Uh Tony Braxton is releasing her 10th studio album next month called Spell My Name. Didn't know there was ever a problem with that. Uh, one of my favorite stories of the week. You remember when there was >> Hold up. >> Holding. She has none of the EGOT. >> Really? I thought she at least had a Grammy. >> No Grammy, no Golden Globe. She has uh she has People's Choice Awards.

>> Uh like it it's incredible. It's like every kind of major award like the only with all due respect to a bunch of other places. In fact, she's only been nominated for a Grammy twice. >> That surprises me. >> But all of her awards are like Billboard Latin. >> Fair enough. >> Uh American Music Awards, she's won a few, but everything else has been Standard Loss other than Latin uh concert or awards. >> You you remember Firefest? >> I do. US Marshalss are putting all their merch up for auction. >> Oh, what a world.

>> I needed that in my life today. >> What a world we live in. >> And I saved this for last. >> Sean, get ready. >> Oh, boy. >> October 2nd. Get your money ready. Corey t Corey Taylor's debut solo album, The Giggling Inflatable Pizza Slice. The story that will never die >> is it's one of my favorite stories to tell. Uh called CMFT. The outer two letters are his initials. Think about the inner two. >> Um but it's not just like these are tracks that go back as far as to stuff as he wrote in his teenage years >> as well as new stuff that he's written.

>> I will say of celebrities I have met, he is by far one of my favorites. Um, the album will have appearances by Marilyn Manson. >> Mhm. >> Lars Olrich. >> Nice. >> Rob Halford. >> Oo. Somebody called Zilla Kami. >> Why do I know that name? >> And one Chris Jericho. Because of course they go way back. >> Uh, there is a video out now that features Jericho, Baron Corbin, and Corey Graves. Have you seen the album cover yet? I saw the image that you I think belt. >> I don't know if that's the album cover.

I haven't seen >> that's what's being pitched as the album cover. >> Okay. I haven't seen anything that says it is. >> He has had a custom wrestling belt made for this. It looks gorgeous. >> Has his name engraved on it as well. >> So, get ready for that. October the 2nd. Uh music releases and places you get music new releases on Friday this week. Dirt Deep Purple with a new album called Whoosh. Not to be confused with Kyle and Kurd. Whoosh. completely different. Uh Luke Bryan, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here.

No punctuation. And Mary Chapen Carpenter with a new album this week called The Dirt and the Stars. Let's get into some movie talk. Uh Courtney Cox officially announces she will return as Gail Weathers in the Scream reboot. So, her and uh former WCW champion David Arquette are back together in a movie. I don't have my soundboard. >> Well, they ain't doing anything else. >> Uh, Regal Cinema is talking about reopening this month. >> It's Every time I hear these, >> they're a little bit angry right now and wait till we get to tech talk to find out why.

>> But every time I hear news like this, it's like, "Hey, we're getting ready to reopen." I'm sitting there going, >> all I know is I drove by the Cinemark West Plano and there were a lot of cars in the parking lot again yesterday, >> but it was also like in the middle of the day, >> so I don't know what was going on. Uh there is a documentary coming out about the show and creator of said show of Ren and Stimpy. It is called Happy Happy Joy Joy. That is a good title. >> Apparently not all of it's going to be that.

I didn't know that uh John K there was some instability there. >> So I'll be looking forward to >> That's one of those where I want to go with You watched the show before. Yes. >> Not good instability. >> I understand. So, instability in any form is not really good. >> Pixar has announced their next film for next summer. It will be called Luca. >> I saw some early there's some early images available. >> It's a coming of age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato pasta and an endless scooter ride along with his new best friend, a sea monster from another world that lies just below the water's surface.

>> The art on this that's available looks amazing. Uh Disney also announced their next big animation film that will have its first Filipino lead. Interesting. Uh looks very nice as well. Regina King has directed a film based on a stage play called One Night in Miami that is going to Amazon Studios. I am very interested in this. This is based on a a stage play from Kemp Power. It's about the night Cashes Clay's first heavyweight win as he celebrates in Miami with Okay, so Cashes Clay is going to be played by Eli Gory.

G- o ree as he celebrates with Malcolm X played by Kingsley Ben Adir, Jim Brown of the Cleveland Browns played by Aldis Hodgej and Sam Cook played by one Leslie Odum Jr. >> Dude, he looks just like C. >> You have my attention. >> He looks exactly like Muhammad Ali. >> I saw a still and went holy cow. like all four of them. It looks amazing and I cannot wait to see this. I want to go to there. Uh Idris Elba has said that a Luther movie is happening, which is a show that's also on my list. >> Yes. And uh Channing Tatum, Channing Tatum, Channing Tatum and Scooter Brawn are working with Amazon on a young adult musical that centers on Mc Beth told from the point standpoint of the from the viewpoint of Lady McBth.

>> Interesting. >> So we can call it that because we're not in the theater. >> Well, but it so we're telling it from essentially a villain standpoint. >> I'm I'm damn spot. I'm I'm intrigued. Oops. Uh, movies on DVD and Blu-ray this week. Exit Plan, if you remember this thing. Judging by your silence, I'm saying you don't. >> Sorry, I was still looking at the still for One Night in Miami. >> Oh, yeah. >> I'm sorry. Could you >> This is um It's called Exit Plan. It's with the Nikolai Kerwaldo. >> Yeah.

Uh, we follow Max who in the midst of an existential crisis and looking to solve a cold case checks into the clandestine hotel Aurora, a unique secretive facility that specializes in elaborate assisted suicide fantasies. His investigation uncovers a disturbing truth that forces Max to question the very nature of life, death, and his own perception of reality. I have seen the trailer for this. It's wacky and not in a not in a kind of way. Uh-uh. But this is >> in a recreum kind of way. >> Uh, a movie called Swallow, which is really weird.

It's about a girl that finds that the only way that she can experience emotion is swallowing household objects. What? Yeah, that's all you need to know. And then the Criterion Collection this week, the lost honor of uh Katherina Blum this week. >> Let's get into some tech talk. We teased this earlier. So, you remember when we talked about AMC and Regal telling Universal to go pound sand? >> Yep. Not so fast my friend. >> So the normal window for which is a more of a spoken agreement of theatrical to VOD is about 90 days.

True. Given that we are allegedly in the next year getting fast nine which I'm almost ready to start that climbing that mountain. Yeah. >> I got two more to get and then I've got them all. >> Thank you movie trading company for doing things very very cheaply. >> Thank you movie trading company for all you do. anytime you want to sponsor the show or give me free stuff, I'm good with it. Should own stock in your company by now. Um, and a little thing called the third Jurassic World movies. >> AMC has gotten into a deal with Universal where now they're like, "Okay, we've negotiated a shorter window.

Universal and AMC are in an agreement that Universal will release their films to AMC opening day, but will wait 17 days for VOD. So, you're going to get two weekends following Tuesday. Regal is not happy. Why would they be? >> Because they thought they had a friend and they don't. Yeah, but I I really think that in most circumstances because of the shorter attention span of humans, I think this is a smart move on both sides. >> Mhm. >> Because AMC will get their money in those first two Well, Universal will get their money in those first two weekends, right?

If they choose to keep it longer, they can, but Universal's like, "We're going to go ahead and release it VOD." Now, granted, you can't buy it. You You'll still have to rent it. Allah Trolls World Tour. >> I'll be interested to see how this model works. >> Well, I'd also venture to see would that make every record that stands now for ticket sales income pretty much set in stone or do we have a situation where because of the rentals it actually doesn't affect it? because there's a huge aspect that if it's going to VOD that much sooner, >> we may not see movies making, you know, half a billion dollars ever again.

>> You still might inflation. And the reason I say that is because >> you could get a movie that could have still have a good theatrical run. >> AMC is not saying we're going to shed it after two weekends. >> That's true. they can say, uh, you know, let's say Fast 9, we want to put that in Dolby Digital, Dolby Cinema for a month because we know it's going to keep making money because people to see it in that high premium format preferred. Yes. and and and Jurassic World, let's be honest, if I've got the the choice between, as much as I enjoy my home theater system, watching it in my living room versus watching it on an iMac screen, you're going to have a lot of people that don't have what necessarily the way it's the setup that I do that are going to watch it in that premium format or in any format really beyond a TV.

>> Yeah. >> I mean, that's that's still your most common viewing option is just a TV on an entertainment center. No sound, no bass, no anything else except the fact of the theater that has it. >> But we also have to think about when are we going to get those >> eventually. >> Yeah. I mean, like we said, at some point, >> tenant later. >> I I I respect Nolan and I understand the whole releasing it internationally first model so he can get some revenue. >> Yeah, >> it may not matter. He may have to just go straight to VOD with it.

And I understand like he filmed it in 35 millimeter. He wants be. I would love to see it in a Dolby cinema atmosphere or an IMAX atmosphere, but you really have to set a clock and go beyond this point. We've got to do something. I don't I don't think they do. That's the That's the hard part because if they just hold it, they they can hold it. I mean, how long did Cabin in the Woods sit on the shelf? >> A whole different ballgame. >> But I understand. But you're >> they've got to make their money at some point.

>> My point being is they could set it aside. And I have an interesting question. >> Okay. >> And it doesn't quite fit with tech talk. It kind of brings us back to movies involving Tenant. >> Do you feel bad for John David Washington? >> Not at all. Cuz he's still going to get work. >> Well, but this is his first big release >> and I'm >> I don't think it hurts his career. >> I don't think it hurts his career. the number of the number of trailers that they've released for this thing. People are getting to see him and it's building the hype.

We all know The Kids Got Talent if you don't watch a handful of episodes of Ballers >> or watch Black Clansmen >> and he's so good. >> Well, I I want to use ballers specifically, okay? Because it didn't hit me till midway season 2 because somebody told me that that's Denzel's son. >> That's how good he is. Black Clansmen, you don't have a choice but to see him as Denzel's son because the mannerisms are so similar and it's a Spike Lee joint. >> Denzel being one of his muses. >> Yeah, >> that kind of a thing.

>> To me, establish I would estab if you haven't really gone through his URA as the kids like to say, watch ballers first so that you can separate it a little bit >> and then you can go I never finished ballers. Well, did you ever hear the story about how he got that role >> beyond being Denzel? >> I don't remember. >> He played for the Rams. >> Did he really? >> Yeah, he was a he was a reserve running back for the Rams. So, he was behind Todd Gurley and I believe he was practice squad uh other than a few games.

>> So good, man. He's so good. >> Mhm. It It is. You You want to say that, oh, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It's like they're kind of different beasts and he's great. >> Yeah. Black clansmen. It just that movie is so great >> but I really wanted to see him in a more serious role and so I am waiting with baited breath >> and this is what's giving us the biting our time with Robert Patson until the Batman too. >> Also true cuz I What was it that you were saying that I need to go watch with him in it again for the bat to buy in for him on Batman or as Bruce Wayne?

Was it uh the lighthouse? I haven't seen the lighthouse, but I've heard he's very very good in it. >> Okay. There w there was something weird. >> The lighthouse is is is a journey I'm not willing to take because apparently it is a slog to get through. >> But there was something that I I said I just can't see it. And you said there was something and I couldn't I >> now for when when when they announced originally um Christian Bale, I kept telling people I've been saying this since American Psycho.

>> Yes. >> Uh but Patson, I'm I'm all in. I I think he's going to do a very good job. >> I like what they're doing with the way the origin of the suit. I like the car. I like I I like where this is going. And we might have a new Batman project coming on the horizon. So, keep your eyes out for that that I'm very excited about. Um, only other tech talk uh mention I have tonight is uh Cuphead the game >> is actually coming to the PlayStation store for the PS4 along with a remaster that will be available for free to this month to PS+ members of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

>> Oh, nice. >> So, anything that you want to talk about that I'm missing this week? >> I don't know. Did we get to touch on the game showcase from Xbox last week? >> No, we did not. >> Okay. Uh there was a lot of premiere and there were >> Comic- Con at home was last weekend. >> Yes, there were there were a lot of people that wanted to bag on, for example, Halo Infinite's uh graphics >> and that is up your alley. >> I am excited. We are going to be starting that series uh again and going chronologically >> through through Halo 5 to get ready for Infinite.

But there was a lot of people bagging on the graphics. maybe uh the FPS wasn't up to what they expected and it's like this game is still like six months away per perhaps which I say meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow >> but I I I appreciate the very polite response from Microsoft itself and their Xbox division going you do realize this is an early build that we are still working on >> we wanted to improve >> we wanted to show off some of the tech where you can see how imagery is developed even at a distance.

The fact that there is a greater use of topography, a greater use of openw world concepts and grappling hook. I'm excited for that. But it was one of those where it's I loved the demo. I absolutely love the demo and there's a lot to get excited for in it as well as some other games that uh they had been released because Ghost of Tsunami uh Tsushima, excuse me, >> I like Sushima that's without the rice. >> That's sushimi. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Yes. But uh that was getting a lot of positive for PlayStation and justifiably so.

Uh, so this was a nice reveal for Xbox with the new Fable game as well and very much touching on every uh genre and niche in their game showcase. So, I'm excited for the new Series X. And I I'm usually a a wait and see on new devices. This one I'm probably going to be day one. >> All right, stuff to listen for this week. Uh, the playoffs for Castoff continue. The semi-final rounds begin this week. Patrick Batty, the guy that defeated me in the first round, takes on Valerie Cameron in what could be one of the craziest castoff episodes ever because they are going to be recasting the Muppet movie >> with peopleork.

And I don't want to say that I was one of the judges for this week's, but I was one of the judges for this week. I picked whom I thought because the way it works is there's two outside arbiters. Craig sent me the list. I don't know whose list was whose. I just picked which which person I thought was better for the role. And I'm very intrigued. And I will save it for off air just to hear which roles. I'll tell you after it airs. >> Okay. And that'll be uh Wednesday or Tuesday night at uh 9 Eastern with the great uh with Craig with the great Craig Price.

And coming up tentatively to record, not this coming Saturday, but next Saturday. Uh I will be on Matinea Heroes recording with him uh and Allen as we uh revisit Unforgiven, which I watched it this past week. Man, that movie holds up well. The blue the Blu-ray transfer looks amazing. Uh go go go re if you haven't watched that movie in a while, go revisit it. It's really and there's some interesting facts I've got for you as I always tend to do on these things. And coming up in September, I will be guesting on another podcast which is kind of similar to Mata Heroes uh with another friend of the show.

And I can't wait until you guys find out what movie we're going to be talking about. It's gonna be awesome. Uh that's what we got going on coming up. Uh we've got some we we're going to be doing a couple of weeks in a row where we're going to have to reschedu a little bit because we've got four pay-per-views in two weeks and then followed by Labor Day. So, we'll be talking about those schedules with you. Hopefully, we'll have Jen Ro back next week in the middle chair. Uh but next week, we'll be back regular normal schedule.

Uh people have been asking me, Rob, what's going on with the website? When are we going to get new reviews on stuff? When we get stuff. Um, it's been kind of weird here and there. It's been real spotty because a lot of studios are holding on to their movies and some of the screening links and stuff just the timing hasn't been right. But we do have a plan. We are going to get back on reviewing things soon. So, just be patient with us. Uh, I've been watching a lot of movies lately just to kind of keep myself in the right rhythm.

And I've been doing little mini reviews on my Facebook page just to kind of keep my skills sharp a little bit. I have been watching uh reruns of a show called The Chase on Game Show Network that I'm very much enjoying. So, I will highly recommend that. Comes on at uh 2:00 p.m. Eastern on weekdays. I've been DVRing it. It was only It was on from 2015 to 2018. >> How do you think you do? >> Uh my in-laws seem to think I would do very well on it. My wife has watched it with me and she's like, "Yeah, I think you would do better here than you would do on Jeopardy." Uh it's a little bit more I like the pacing of it better than Jeopardy even though the episodes are twice as long.

>> Yeah. >> Um but I've been watching that lately. Anything you want to recommend because you got about four more minutes. >> Uh actually just I've been enjoying going back and thanks to HBO Max being able to watch series that I have not seen before. Looking forward to getting to Deadwood, but The Wire as you've highly recommended amazing. Uh getting through the Sopranos. Uh right now I'm actually on the last season. Uh and it has been an adventure and has given me PTSD because for those that don't know a majority of my family is from Jersey.

So it's been kind of like a time capsule unto itself. And >> and you have instructions to call me as soon as you finish the last episode. >> Yes. >> Because I want to hear your reactions. >> Yeah, it's we'll we'll see how that goes. Uh any suggestions you want to reach out to me? Uh you can find me Vexloit on all social media. >> You know what? Here's one for you and this is on Amazon Prime for free and I revisited this last weekend and it's kind of a time capsule because of the way it ends, >> but there was a movie in 2002 called Rat Race.

>> Seen it multiple times. >> Fun. Yes. >> Very I went back and re It is. It is one of those ones. It's like it's this is not going to win any awards or blow anybody away, but it is fun. that ending. I was like, "Yes, >> God." >> And God bless you, Rowan Atinson. >> Yeah. >> Uh, so let's do the plugs and get out of here. Make sure that you follow us on social media.
