But I am not of course alone in the studio joining me across the desk. There is a man who may not be a man's man, but he is a man. He is my co-host, he is Chad, welcome sir.

You are sounding rude. It has been it's been a weekend, once you first of all want to thank everybody that came out and saw Grace descending yesterday and above and beyond, sure, it had a great time. It is a little warm in there, but it had a great time with our friends in our comics anonymous, helping them celebrate another year of their program over there.

We live in a fourth anniversary of that ministry, so God bless them. This Saturday, we are going to be out in Quinlan, Texas. We are going to talk about that just a little bit later, but I want to thank everybody.

Also, I am going to quick shout out to a friend of mine, Claire Stager, who was in town from Boston, for a conference, got to have dinner with her last night, knowners since I was in the sixth grade, pretty much known her 75% of my life. So we have dinner along with friends of the show, a Phil and Shane and Mar, and a friend of the show. Julie Wake got to have dinner with her on Friday night, because anytime somebody from back in the day comes in town, we want to make sure that they are welcomed, had a great time last night, and I've really been trying to take it easy today, but had a lot's going on, man.

And it's not slowing down, but that's just that is the life that we choose. Alright, let's get right into it into corrections, have a couple of them from our last couple of episodes. One that we didn't cover at blues, House of Blues that we needed to.

We were not sure if Frank Gorshin was still with us or not, he's not, he passed away May 17th, 2005, so we're a little slow on the other side. Wow, I feel like a jerk, and in last week's show, I was talking about the sting deal with Hogan, that they did the video package for, he actually had them in the Scorpion Death Lock. He didn't have them in a small package.

That was my mistake. How to go back and watch that again. Oh, there is that.

Anything that you need to correct from last week's episode, so I want to thank everybody that listened in for our night of champions pre-show. Not exactly how we thought it was going to turn out to be. No, I'm going to watch that.

May or may not be a show week after next. That is the completion of the 12th cycle around the sun of me being married. So I have to find out what the lovely and talented Mrs.

Urban has planned for that evening if anything. Thank you, you should just plan that to be doing a show. Well, I mean, she may, she may, you know, we may do something on another night.

I don't know. But also the day before our anniversary, that's coming up in a couple of weeks on the 10th of October, for another show, Kobe Gregory getting married. So congratulations to Colbus Maximus the first.

Let's get into some NASCAR shall we? Today was the Sylvania 300. Why don't you do that race at night?

The third of, I'm sorry, the second of three races in the first round of the Chase for the Cup. The last time we did a show, we talked about NASCAR, the Chase hadn't even started yet. That's how long ago that was at Hertz.

Starting in 12th finishing in 9th is Casey Kane in the number 5 Chevrolet. Also in the number 7th Chevrolet, starting in 21st and finishing 8th Martin Truek's junior, Jeff Gordon starts in 10th, 1st, 7th and the number 24 Chevrolet. And rounding up the bottom half of the top 10 all in Chevrolet, 6x, 6x, 6x, 6x, 6x, Spring Cup Champion Jimmy Johnson starts in 5th, 1st, 6th, Car Lebord has the pole position but winds up in 5th.

In the number 19 Toyota, Greg Biffel starts in 25th place, winds up in 4th. Nice. Biffel did a little bit of a little bit of driving today.

And that was family did not invent the game with the plastic ball in the plastic pack. He's in the number 16 Ford starting in eighth finishing in the bronze medal position Joe Lillogano. I feel like there's a lot of people at home.

Now, the only standings we're worried about right now are your top 16 because those are the guys that are currently in the chase. So, Clint Bovier drops one to 16. He trades place with Kevin Harvick at 15.

Paul, yes, my family owns the hardware stores minority in 14th. Kyle Bush. You ready for this sir?

Shoot. Drops nine slots to number 13. Right now, those four are the odd men out going into next week because after next week, we get rid of the bottom four in that 16 to get to 12.

So I'm getting a little fired up now and just starting to fall. Want to say what's up to Russes in the chat room? I was good to see him in there.

Now, if nothing changes, here's your top 12. Dropping two to 12, barely holding on right now is Dale Earnhardt Jr. You want to know how many points separate him and Kyle Bush's in 13?

Run. Run point separate these two guys because remember, when we go into the chase, all the points are reset. So everybody's got a chance to win this thing if you make the top 16.

Jamie McMurray jumps to to the 11 spots, so he's safe right now. Jeff Gordon jumps to to 10. Martin tracks Jr.

and up to to to nine. Brad kes allows he jumps one to eight. So with the Kyle Bush drop like a stone, there's a lot of guys shuffling into those positions to get ready for the next round.

Kurt Bush drops one to seven, Ryan Hello, Newman jumps to to six, Jimmy Johnson, six times six times six times six times six times six times, spring cup champion jumps to to five. Joey Logano to four, your top three stay the same. Carl back flip Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kensiff with Joe Gibbs racing.

Joe Gibbs racing has all three of the top spots right now. Right now, but the distance between first and third is 10 points. 25 separates one through six.

Wow. So one more race left and we get rid of the bottom four. That one race is going to be next Sunday at two 30 Eastern on NBCSN, the Triple A 400.

There should be no excuses for somebody not finishing the race because they should be right there ready to fix them. Dover international speedway, next Sunday, I'm I like the way the chase works. I still think I could fix it better, but I do like this elimination style deal they're doing.

It's kind of fun. So if you are a NASCAR fan, get ready next Sunday. Early day race, you think NASCAR would like start racing maybe like on Saturdays because why would you compete with the NFL?

I never have understood that, that has never made sense to me. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I don't I can figure out what it is. All right.

Let's get to this in TV talk. The Emmys were last Sunday hosted by Andy Sandberg. Did I tell you the, uh, the, uh, right, I just lost his name.

Tracy, uh, comedian. Morgan? Yes, the his bit on the Emmys last week.

You told me about it. Did I say what he actually said? I believe you did, but Jerry was talking about, he was a, he told the whole story about he came back from a traumatic brain injury, uh, was, was, was, you know, down, starting to come back a little bit more every day and he said, you know, I'm feeling more like myself today.

So I have to have to party with me a lot of people getting pregnant. Yeah. That was a predictable at all.

I loved that. But you got bus him. He's going to be hosting SNL in a couple of weeks.

First time back on television was this past Sunday at the Emmys. God bless the guy. So unfortunately, a Drew in 11.1 worst ratings in the history of the Emmys last week.

Yikes. Well, I mean, have you ever been a fan of that particular awards broadcast? Not particularly, but I also do wonder if the network change affected it.

Probably. I mean, that's when you think the Emmys, where do you think to look to watch it? On.

I don't know where, where, where do you, on ABC, no, it's only an NBC on NBC, it was on Fox last week. All that's right, because it was, they were, they were leading into it with the football games and everything. They were showing red carpet footage and stuff.

You would have thought maybe that would have brought one of the Fox had their NFL crew on the red carpet. And I heard that was a train ride. Yeah.

That was probably not a really smart move. We were a little busy with not a champions, so we were not watching. But good news for a show that you are an incredibly big fan of and you really are trying to go to me into getting caught up on the show and you know my response, I have too many shows now, but I've heard such good things.

I'm not downing the show. I just don't have room for the show in my current repertoire. Empire comes back strong.

16 million viewers. Yeah. It was a heck of a kickoff.

And what is the main demographic we always look at when we look at television ratings? 18 to 40. 18 to 49.

20 share. That means one in five people between the ages of 18 and 49 were on the Fox network last Wednesday night. Now I don't know if that takes into account the plus 2s and the plus 3s.

I don't think it does because when I read this story, it was the day after the airing of the episode. So that numbers probably higher than you, you're still in a time when I'm going to put a plus 2 in a plus 3. This is people that have it on their DVR that watch it within two days and watch it within three days.

Okay. This is actually become a thing with Nielsen, where they're actually clocking that in some of their homes. That's good.

I mean, I should catch that. But we've talked about that all along. It's like you need to count these numbers because these are still people watching these shows.

So you should really include it. So they're doing the plus 2 in the plus 3 and they really the only reason I know about that was because of the horrible dixie Carter interview on the Stone Cold podcast. Because they are living on those numbers right now.

They've got nothing else to really thrive on. Congratulations to the Dennis Leary, sex and drugs and rock and roll. It's picked up for season two.

It's kind of rollercoastery for me. I mean, you're a fan of it overall. I've been enjoying it for no reason because of Leary.

Leary and the the girl that places daughters absolutely beautiful. And it's he and the he and his guitars have really good back and forth like his good chemistry there. I've never been a big fan of Robert Kelly.

He plays the drummer but he's kind of funny on the show. I'm trying to recall who what I've seen him in. If you're an O and A fan, you know exactly who he is.

That's Bob. Oh Bob. Oh my god.

I just I know him is Bob Kelly in our Robert Kelly. Yeah. Go ahead and look him up now.

It doesn't look. He looks a lot different. But they've got that for season two.

So good. So congratulations to them. Are you reading around here right now?

No. Fox wants to bring the 18 back to episodic television. Well, that's not necessarily happening.

They just are there serious talks underway. You know, I liked the movie. I didn't love the movie.

But I liked the movie. Yeah. I think those guys had good chemistry.

I'm surprised it didn't do better than it did. But Sunday night football in America. And they're showing football highlights.

So I see what you did there NBC. Clever. Don't they aren't actually running that contract.

They have a pretty big chunk of us. Speaking of football, you see the big injury yesterday. No.

Messy out for like two months. Oh geez. So chaos chaos chaos.

Russ asks is asking about the Muppets debut. I watched it today. And I watched it yesterday.

It had moments. Yeah, it did. Like I just don't know.

I don't know that we need to turn the Muppets into an adult format in sitcom. Well, you have to think about who they have. I'm not sure who they have as as the staff writers.

But they have a 2015 sensibility. They're not going to keep it old school. They're going to write for an audience of today.

I hope I hope I get some get some writings under it. I do. The Splat will debut next Monday night at 10 Eastern.

This has been a big deal. And I don't know if you've heard about what this is. No.

This is a new Nickelodeon channel. That I think is going to split time with team Nick or it's going to take over team Nick one or two. It's just their 90s programming.

So basically you can't do that on television. That's 80s. That's 80s.

It's going to be an instanti. Rugrats. Things of things of it.

Yeah. Everything they showed in the 90s will be on the station. That should get some pretty good viewership.

Because I know that. But they showed instanti or just MTV. I thought they did some of the right instanti on that.

They did. Okay. Do they want to start it?

Yeah. That's right. That's right.

That's right. That's right. I get those two confused.

But that's happening. A lot of people very excited about this. They're running stiffy alone.

I'd be excited for it. The original run. Because when they brought it back, it was terrible.

The great Frankie Faison who you may remember as the landlord in coming to America. He is joining the cast of Luke Cage. Where your thoughts here.

I like the guy. But I don't know enough about Luke Cage. I've never really followed any of.

I'm a big fan of character. Any of power man's exploits. I'm intrigued though.

I mean, if Netflix's Daredevil is any indication of where Marvel is going on that. Well, have you seen her Jessica Jones teaser? No.

It's like it's just her way and the bed and the alarm goes off. They're playing loving you. And she just kind of reaches over.

Looks like she's going to hit the snooze button. And she just crushes the entire alarm clock with her hands. I guess you were playing that earlier.

Yeah. Because I heard the size. What the heck was that?

That was for Jessica Jones debuts on the 20th of November. And Resta's back. You were interested if he wasn't.

Yes. So I don't know how much you know about this next thing. Nothing.

There's a UK anthology series called Dark Mirror. It's kind of a modern Twilight Zone. Okay.

I've heard a lot of talk about it. I've heard people that love it. And I've heard people that can't.

Don't get it. And I've heard people that hate it. My fast Jules about it.

Netflix is picking it up for a revival. But it's been a long time since we had a show like that. That was like an anthology series that was kind of different every week with different stories and different characters.

Well, I just wanted that vein that I've ever really cared about, though, was Tales from the Crypt. That was a long time ago. Because I guess that was after amazing stories, wasn't it?

Yeah. And these stories really never got its legs under it. No.

And it had some great moments. The one that always sticks in my head is the one with the. The.

The belly gunner stuck in the in the in the bomber. And the belly of the bomber. And they were going to crush him whenever they landed in.

Was it him that was the cartoon artist or somebody on the plane was a cartoon artist. I just slept since then. But you barely.

But I still remember the one I'm talking to. Yeah. It's the one that very, very spill burgian.

Because he was involved in that show. But that one really felt like a spill burg moment. Any.

Okay We'll talk a lot about the purple and how useless it really is indeed because they say it's a game for the fans But Well, not only they don't watch it, but how many fans can afford a trip to Hawaii? Okay, you know So I'm gonna throw something out there and the likelihood of it actually working is slim to none We've had this debate before. I don't think we've done it on air, but we definitely don't know.

This is a different way of doing it This is something new I've been thinking about. I'm not. I'm not the first person.

I'm sure to think about it, but What it be? Better for them to do an NFL all-star break? To do it right in the middle of the season.

Just like baseball does just like hockey does just like basketball does And you know you know, it doesn't even have to be a full contact game. I would even make it like a flag game And do it just at different places around the country? Okay, you know, don't have a Monday night game the week before You're actually no you can have the Monday night game the week before, but not the night after And have a full week start on Tuesday Where the players get together and inform their their plays Do the game on a Saturday So that way everybody could use Sunday to get back with their teams and Monday we're back to practice I'm good with that at least it would make it mean something because do It doing it after the Super Bowl is a terrible idea.

It always has been You know, we're just gonna cut these guys checked just because you know, they don't make enough money They go hang out and Hawaii And do nothing and a game that's 180 to 150 Because one thing we know about all star games is there is no defense and you really can't like you can't with the NFL You can't make anything on the line because the Super Bowl is where it is right And I don't know what you could do Except maybe make the next all-star game at a stadium in that conference Something to make it stand for something because right now it just it just flat out doesn't But because at least with the other like Russ says you don't have an all-star kicking challenge Which Notre Dame actually did on their season with Notre Dame show this year Where they actually had one of the one of the young ladies from the women's soccer team come in and she and I was it was on them So I was on hard knocks She had a kicking challenge against a Vince Will for cuz I'm mountain up on that. I say they do an inzone dance off. Oh dear Why not I'd be fun.

I think it'd be a trip Cuz at least that way they'd be able to express themselves in the end zone because they can't do it during the regular season Well, they can't only just can't do it like they used to well, just let's see I did that to a certain point because when When what's his name is pulling a phone out of the the pad and making a phone call with it? I mean, that's a little much funny though. Yeah, but think about to be getting a baseball I mean, is it is it is it do she yeah, maybe so, but it's still funny I mean, it just injects a little bit of levity into a game that everyone just wants to take so serious now I did like to over the guy pulled the pile on off the ground and use it as a golf club and put it the ball That was kind of funny.

I didn't see that. Yeah, I've seen that before But I don't know I just think that if you're gonna because the ratings for this game have to be in the toilet. Yeah, constantly To the point of I don't even know if anybody wants to carry it anymore Probably not.

I mean, yeah, I'm sure the only reason ESPN carries it is because they go what else is going on February on the Sunday night Cuz there's right before the I want to see it's right before the NHL all start break. If not the NBA all start break Yeah, because I remember whenever we had the NBA all start game year It was when we got that big snowstorm and it was right around the Super Bowl the the following year so I mean, I think we fun It'd be more fun for the fans. Yeah, because they could actually maybe afford to go there Maybe possibly and maybe have it where the Super Bowl's going to be the next year That's what you've been saying from the get go that's what I've been saying about the the college national championship Is to do it the same weekend and Saturday night be the college national championship where the Super Bowl's gonna be the next year and then Super Bowl That's Sunday night I did say that if you do that the divorce rate in this country will skyrocket, but I'm just saying Any other discussion that you've got on that?

No, I'm all for it. I mean, I really do agree with that It's it's it's a sound plan whether or not anybody will listen. It's a fair point I just getting some TV news over the wire if you are a fan of the show undatable There will one hour season premiere a week from Friday or see that this Friday or next Friday gonna be live That's gutsy sound doing it old school All right, let us move on.

We're gonna talk a little College football, but in conjunction with college football. We're gonna talk a little high school football John Jay high school News and you're Santa Tony or Houston Santa Tony, I believe where two players claiming to be underneath the guidance of their coach Took out a high school referee and What can only be seen as a sanctioned hit Assistant coach has resigned Kids have been relegated to an alternative school for 75 days Which I've heard they can join the team after that, but if there's not playoffs, I don't think that will be I don't think that's gonna work because they there's season should be over by that point shouldn't Russ talks about whichever conference when that's where the Super Bowl will be I don't know that you can do that because when we go back to our previous segment Because the Super Bowl's pretty much set like three four years out because you have to give the cities time to get ready So maybe the next available Super Bowl or something. I don't know But I heard an interesting opinion on this the other day.

I want to say it was on PTI. I think it was will bond We've heard these kids on talk shows with lawyers and whatnot, but do you know who we haven't heard from the parents? Okay, the parents need to come forward and say yeah, what my kid did was wrong and we're handling it in house literally because otherwise You know The kids are all Alleging racial slurs the referee and his lawyer have both said that is not true To say that now it just sounds like you're trying to make excuses.

It does and I understand that as a kid You have to listen to your coach and your coach is trying to guide you, but at certain at certain times Common sense should take over Yeah, because I'm sorry that doesn't justify the action because if my coach tells me to do that in this day and age I'm gonna look at him and I'm gonna say I Understand your frustration, but I'm not doing that number one because I'm not gonna suffer consequences from the school Number two, you put consequences on me. This is the age of the internet, right and I will be more than happy Till everybody and their brother know That this is how you run your program So let this go now Don't press this Or maybe the kidney disease go their parents go look he told me to do this. I remember watching it about five six times That the week that it that it dropped just showing it to other people going I was not expecting This movie to wow me the way that it did because it was such brave bold filmmaking I but see my thing is And I have to be in the absolute minority here I didn't I mean I liked boyhood But it didn't jazz me like it jazzed everybody else well Just just on the simple fact that when you hear the premise of the film you're thinking okay, so what And Given what went into getting that film to the screen to me is is is mind blowing in itself that that you can Be committed to something for that long of a period of time and it came out rock solid and it yeah I mean like I said I enjoyed it.

It just didn't it didn't do for me what it did for a lot of people just saying number eight Shawshank Really because I had high high high bar going into that. I knew nothing about it really really I knew I knew didly about fair enough And given the fact that Knowing that it was a Stephen King story and we know what Stephen King's track record is like cinematically That's up and down your expectations are pretty much low to begin with and You mentioned this film to almost anybody That is a fan of film and they talk about it in reverent tones It's it is an amazing film that you just don't really expect to get that good fair enough Number seven number seven casino royale After yeah, another day and the well, it shoot after the three bond films that preceded it and given the fact that this was a brand new bond Made by an actor that we really didn't know all that much about My expectations were really low after the scene But the problem is I always set the bar high for a bond film regardless of what it is because it's changed fun well, you know, but given the three strikes that had come before it I was like okay, and you saw it you said trust me trust me on this and I went out and bought it on DVD Side unseen on your word And I Came a well I say wrong so no, no, you would not I became a bond fan all over again just on the strength of that film Because I was pretty much ready to jump ship really I mean the the the last three Brosnan films were so tarnished so tarnished the legacy of bond fair enough that I was ready to walk away Number six number six iron man See that's the one I'm gonna agree with you because my my thoughts going into iron man Like I remember the theater I saw it in with friend of the show Richard Sheely in Oklahoma City He was I thought at the drive in and he was like dude. I'll agree with you fully and wholeheartedly because you and I have a very special place in our hearts for the Originals watching the kids and the Tim Burton thing made me so angry That I didn't even see the first one until it was like two days before we saw the second one We're take I mean it wasn't too long before that that I saw it because my daughter just rode me like a government meal No, Daddy watch this watch this.

I'm like okay I'll take your word. We had to take her with a green saw because she didn't understand the way we did about the original This is true and yeah, I'll agree with you there absolutely I mean everybody was saying such great things about and I'm ready for the third one. No kidding Number four and this is gonna shock you when I say this all right The Lord of the Rings films really because I wasn't expecting Peter Jackson a guy who had done nothing But horror films low budget horror films at that to be able to Welcome Okay, um to be able to pull something this huge off.

I was in from trailer one As soon as I saw the first trailer I was like yeah, we're gonna be fine But we've been deceived by trailers before I just I had the gut feeling after I saw the trailer for this one Speaking of Iron Man. He's now on our television because they're advertising the release of a Age of Ultra my my hopes were high, but I was like can this guy pull this off? I had concerns I had fears Seeing the trailer.

I'm like okay, you're you're getting there and then walking out of the theater with my picking up brain matter off the floor. I remember It completely exceeded my expectations because I really didn't know what my expectations were Fair enough and the fact that these films were so good. Yes, they were Consistently although towers dragged a little bit Well with talking you're gonna get a certain level of that yeah, it it was kind of unavoidable I mean if they had gone word for word in from the books Really what it drives yeah Number three number three man bronze metal position mad max fury road.

So I might let's haven't seen it yet Cannot believe I don't know anybody that hasn't liked it I cannot believe how awestruck I was by that film because I wasn't a huge fan of the mad max series I enjoyed them. I enjoyed them true, but I was like it also had thunder Yeah, yeah And again lowering the bar once again and I know I've probably oversoul the heck of it. There's there's no way you're going to enjoy it as much as I did See that's what my concern is now so many people have told me how great it is that I'm I'm worried about watching it a little bit because you just don't expect it to be as good as it is You really does true Silver metal position dances with bulbs You know what I'll go with you are there because I was kind of like Again something I had to be talked into because I'm not a fan of anything based in the civil war I'm just not it was like the same feeling I had going into last of the moheekins say exact same Probably not I mean my dad taught me in both of these films I saw this film alone when I was in the Navy Just on a night out of one to get out and do something and walk out of that theater With tears still pouring down my face Fair enough they had them at that had that ultimate man-grime moment and number one number one This is actually made a different list okay Lawrence Arabia See by the time I'd seen it I'd heard so much about it that It was like okay, I see the hype and see and I hadn't heard all that much other than the fact that this was one of the films It inspired Spielberg to make film and Growing up as as in the era that we did where was a lot of Things blowing up real pretty yeah stuff's gonna explode and there were explosions in this but a lot of it was dialogue But the film is so beautifully constructed it is it is it is why it is not on on the top of everyone's list of greatest films They're made still stuns me because I know there are other films that that bump it from that list constantly Sometimes quiet it's recognized before Lawrence does and I don't I love bridge on the word required I do too, but it it will never hold the same place in my heart that it that Lawrence of Arabia holds Now I had several runners up on this list okay Our go I'll agree to there.

I had good expectations but not not nearly as good as it was when when when the credits rolled pitch perfect We were not expecting to like that film that much. I had to make you sit down because I remember when I saw it I got you knocked on my door and I was 20 minutes in it. I'm like I'm starting this over I was like you're gonna sit down here.

You're gonna watch this movie with me You were like what does I do do you have to trust me on this both Hellboy films and Pacific Rim Gilmouro d'Otoro kind of had a had a trifecta for me. Where back Rim was good. It wasn't great for me But I wasn't again wasn't expecting to do like it as much as I did The JJ Star Trek Blue both of us out of the water the first parts the Caribbean film I thought there's no way they're gonna be able to make this a decent film if they're basking on a theme park ride and it was great taken Take in yeah first taken film.

I was like Oh, God I'll go check it out and my the end. I was like everybody has to see this movie right now Hotel Transylvania I haven't seen the first one, but you've seen the sex you said so much enjoyed it. Yeah Similar flavor you weren't expecting to go like at that much John Wick.

I know you haven't seen it I know it's on my list and thank you friend of the show That's that gave that let me borrow this thing. Mm-hmm. It's got Jackson And this is gonna this is gonna shock you.

I didn't dare put it in the top 10 although maybe I probably should have E.T Really I wasn't expecting to like it that much because I had just seen poltergeist New spulbergs involvement and then of course I was really young when this thing came out And didn't think that he was gonna be able to put out two films that close together and Maintain that level and of course E.T. became the the phenomenon that it did and last but not least Nolan's Batman films Given what we were handed the last couple of films around the trailer. It's real or helped me out a lot on that one too But yeah, they were all amazing yeah And I know that was a pretty hefty list because it basically came with a top 20.

Yeah, it was really rough for me to whittle this thing down But see what you can come up with on something like this. I am not off the top of my head because I'm tired No, no, I'm not saying right now. I'm just saying.
