That's what she said.
For posterity's sake, it's actually 744 on the east coast, and it's 340-444 on the west coast.
It is the 26th of August in the year of our Lord 2018.
It is season 9 episode 7454 times this voice has welcomed you to the clubhouse podcast.
We're so thankful that you're with us, whether you've been with us since day 1, whether
this is your first time listening or you're somewhere in between.
We couldn't be happier that you're here, welcome.
My name is Rob, I am the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast, and I have a tasty
beverage in my arctic container today that I'm very much enjoying.
Got a little green, oh, what's the name of the brand of my tea?
Gold Peak Unsweet tea, we're lemon in it, very tasty, shout out to Gold Peak, if you guys
want to sponsor the show, hollage boy.
I'm not alone sitting across the desk for me, is my co-host, and a man that I saved
the drop to intro him that we normally use for now.
Oh yeah!
Chad is here.
I was about to raise all kinds of H.E.
Do I not always have a plan, sir?
Do I not always have a plan?
Chad's gonna say, dude, we couldn't get some love for the month of the day.
For some reason.
And I also am rocking.
You've got the Yeti, though.
You're high-falutin' that I am.
Although I want to get one of those handle things that you have, because I do enjoy that
quite a bit.
I got this from a woman that was doing a fundraiser, but I got this that I know I've seen them
in a academy.
You can get them anywhere.
Yeah, I just need to get one.
But I think the tall part of mine is wider, so I don't know if there's an iffy universal
or you have to get a certain size.
No, it's their universal.
But I tried something new today.
There was a shortage of the Suggernsweak tea bags that Lipton makes that I always drink.
That's what she says.
Ah, so I had to go.
I had to settle.
I'm like, okay, this is going to be a really bad mistake, or I'm going to pat myself on
the back for this.
It is a huge honk and like, like planters cheeseball-sized canister of Lipton's sweet tea instant.
And I know that can go.
I know.
Yeah, that can be very dicey.
I can go either way.
And then I got to think of a way to win.
I've been drinking the cake cups for years, and all that is is instant.
And it's also Lipton, so bear with me.
Put it in, put like a half of a serving, like maybe a half a quart in a pitcher.
And it was flawless.
It is some of the best tea I've had without having to brew anything, so check it out later
sometime.
If I can find a diet version, I'll bring you some.
Rounding out the day, this is the official fact checker of the show, and a man whose shirt
rivals yours, sir.
We're all three sports in some interesting colors tonight.
I've got my here come the mummy's t-shirt.
You've got your macho man shirt, and Don's got his promani shirts.
You may know him as fond Don Goba, his momma name him Don Ford.
I'm going to calm Don Ford.
What's up brother?
Since we're talking drinks here, you said cake cups, right?
Get that one where you can put your own stuff in there that's empty.
Oh, I do.
Yeah, put that one in a seat.
Yeah, use that Lipton thing and try it in one of those and see if that works.
I thought about that.
I, I, I, I see how that I did that.
Smart.
That might be better.
I'm telling you.
Smart.
I know things.
That's the second time I've referenced that this weekend.
We want to take just a quick minute before we get started and send some love to a very
special person in the empire.
He is one of my best friends.
He's the reason you and I know each other.
That is he is true.
He is the reason that Chad and I know each other.
Rick Futrell is having a medical procedure tomorrow to get rid of some blockage that he
has on his left side.
So, uh, bubble we love you and so we're praying for you and so we hope everything goes well.
Thank you Trinity for taking care of him.
And thank you to Megan for helping out at the house with her brother and sister.
So we want to give love to the entire Futrell family because they are, they're blood
to us.
Amen.
And get well soon because we want your butt here in the studio.
We've been trying to do this for eight years.
It's about dog on time.
So let's go through some, through some updates and corrections for last show.
The, the outstanding achievement in popular film will not happen until 2020.
Oh, really?
Yes.
I found that out this week.
And Alita Battle Angel was the title of the film.
We couldn't get that one right at an anime fest last week.
How many different shots did we take at that?
Ethan Peck is the grandson of Gregory Peck.
Okay.
Found that out.
We didn't know that on the last show.
And Mad Moxie is from Borderlands where I don't remember but we didn't, I don't think
we actually got it out.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
So, again, thanks to everybody at anime fest for having us out last weekend.
We had an absolute blast.
I also had a great time at our Summer Slam show last week and I'm going to kind of tease
something.
And we'll talk to you guys about it after, okay?
Alex and I have been working on something for the remainder pay per views of the year.
That I think is going to make things really, really interesting.
And I'm going to run it by you guys off air.
Don, don't look at me like that.
It's a good thing.
I like where it's going.
It's going to make it a lot more fun.
Because right now, we have, what do we have like 90 points between Dock and Steve and
Cheese?
Don, what's that look for?
I'll tell you, when we talk off air.
Okay.
You all right?
Yeah.
You sure?
I've been wanting to talk to you about something.
Okay.
We'll talk off it.
I know that look.
Yeah.
So, you're okay though.
Yeah.
All right.
Good NASCAR as we normally do.
The Bristol Motor Speedway race yesterday, is there not a name to that?
Although, we were off this week.
So yeah, we were off this week.
We had the Bass Pro Shops and our A Night Race.
I love that.
So your top 10 finishers, as we didn't cover it, Kevin Harvick started in 6-1 up in 10th
in the number 4 Ford, 7x7, 7x7, 7x7, 7x7, 7x7, 7x7, 7x7, Jimmy Johnson, and the
number 48 Chevrolet starts in 13th, winds up in 9th.
Alex Bowman in Junior's old car, the 88 Chevrolet starts in 22nd finishes in 8th.
The stone, Ryan Blaney, he wins stage 1, but he winds up in 7th after starting in 10th
in the number 12 Ford.
And the number 14 Ford, Clint Boehler, again, he was great in the Hunger Games, starts
in 16th, winds up in 6th.
And the number 20 Toyota, starting in 14th, winding up in 5th is Eric Jones, Jones.
And winning stage 2 and winding up in 4th after starting in 19th in the number 22 Ford is
Joey Lackano, Chase Elliott, dirty in love.
He was in 9th, started in 2nd, 1 up in 3rd in the number 9 Chevrolet, Kyle Lackano,
Chase Elliott, the new sheriff in town, Kyle Larson, you always get those confused.
You would think I would remember since it's my bit.
Kyle Larson gets the silver medal.
He starts in the pole position, winds up in 2nd, the number 42 Chevrolet, and Kurt
Boehler in the number 41 Ford starts in 9th and wins the race.
Monster competition standings.
We have only two races left until the playoffs, kids.
And right now, the odd man out is Ryan, he is 12 points behind Ricky Stenhouse, Junior.
He is 79 points behind Bowman, Bowman is 42 points behind Jimmy Johnson, Jimmy Johnson
is 31 points behind Eric Jones, Jones is 17 back on Eric Almarola, Almarola is 39 points
behind Chase Elliott, Elliott is 10 points behind Danny Moons over my hamlin, hamlin
is 22 points back on Kyle Larson, Larson is only 1 point back on Keselowski, Keselowski
3 back on the stone, the stone 35 back on Lagano is 8 back on Boehler, Boehler 20 back
on Kurt Boosh, Kurt is 53 back on Martin Truex, Junior Truex is 11 back on Harvick,
now 43 back on Kyle Boosh, like my quick math there, you are better than I am with that.
Coming up next Sunday, and this is so strange, this is the third reference to this that's
come up in my life in the last week.
Next week from Darlington Raceway, while we're on the air, because it's a night race,
because it's Labor Day weekend, the Bojangles Southern 500, for those of you that live
in the south-west, like we do here, you may not, Don, you know Bojangles, Bojangles is
like Popeye's chicken, but it's better, and that'll be live on NBCSN, so you got that
going for you, which is nice, let's see what the closest Bojangles would be, we could
be on our Fairburg, Alabama maybe, probably, because Popeye's does the whole Louisiana thing,
so they pretty much have everything on this side of the Mississippi, I'll let you guys
look that up as we get into some TV talk.
Netflix has renewed glow for season 3, I have yet to watch it, I know, so do I, everybody
is telling me how great it is, I just haven't had a chance, and it's got my house in
over here, and it's done.
Okay, Alabama 34 to 10, Georgia 108 locations, Kentucky 12, Maryland 5, North Carolina 313,
that's where they're at, Pennsylvania 1, South Carolina 135, Tennessee 68, Virginia 68,
and Washington DC is one in West Virginia 8, so I think Tennessee might be the closest,
or Alabama, Alabama, or depending on where you're at, yeah, to us though, I think.
Yeah, well Tennessee versus, how many are in Florida?
None.
Oh, 10.
Hey, no, we had him in South Florida.
10, sorry.
I got a little excited because I found one in Dallas.
North Carolina.
Like there's a Dallas in North Carolina.
You can actually look that up in Wikipedia, and it'll tell you all the cities, all the
states that have your cities name it.
Big news for the lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin, the Big Bang Theory, will end after
season 12.
So this is it.
This is the big swan song for a show I've never really liked.
This is me expressing my remorse, because I don't care.
If you start talking about the cost, because those guys are only like a million in episode.
Yeah, so it's like 50 million, and they're just like no things, I'm not going to change
my life at all.
No.
Cassidy McClinty from Love Simon, who we saw earlier this year, she's going to join
the cast of The Walking Dead for season 9, and what they're calling a significant role.
Wish I could care.
I really, I really wish I could care.
I mean, when did The Walking Dead jump to Shark after season 4?
Wow.
Yeah, it's, they've been, I mean, they've been limping along, I mean, they've been, it's
kind of like American Horror Story.
They've been shambling along like a walker ever since.
Like American Horror Story, first couple of seasons are great.
Well, I'm glad you mentioned American Horror Story, Don, because as you know, the upcoming
season Apocalypse is going to be a crossover between Murder, House, and Coven.
Okay.
This of Farminga will play both of her characters.
Wow.
Okay.
From that.
And also, it was announced that Delamick Dermann and Connie Britton will return.
Good.
And they've already, there's already been pictures from the set, they're already working.
This year's DC TV universe crossover will be December the 9th through the 11th, and
we've talked about this that it's going to be, they're going to Gotham.
Yeah.
That will introduce us to the character of Batwoman, but you will have Superman and
Lois Lane.
I did see that.
Involved.
And I'm wondering who our Lois is going to be.
Oh, oh, no, no, no, okay, never mind.
We know that.
We do?
Yes.
If I'm not mistaken, Smadana, no, wasn't that Jenna Dewan, or what she was, she was Lanna.
Was she?
She was not Lois.
She was the other Lane.
She was Lanna Lane.
I think she was Lanna Lane.
You have to look that up.
Yeah, let me check that.
Jenna Dewan.
How are you doing?
Let's see.
Bruce Box Lightner is replacing Brent Spiner as the vice president on Supergirl.
So we've got Tron for a vice president.
And Wonder Woman for the president.
If you remember correctly.
Yes.
We've got a goal.
Let's see where are we here.
Kyle Seacore is going to play Caitlyn Snow's father on the flash, so we're going to look
into that storyline this year.
And a lot of DC news today, you know the DC universe app, get ready to fire up.
Kevin Smith's going to have a show.
I saw that.
It's going to be called DC Daily.
Still not going to buy it.
You're not?
No.
I refuse.
I'm not buying CBS all-axis and I'm not buying this because I really believe that this
is going to get to critical mass and it's all going to shrink right back down because
people are going to say, I'm not going to pay you five bucks a month and you seven bucks
a month and you fifteen bucks a month and you five bucks a month, I'm sorry.
I'm going to end up spending more than I would spend on cable.
That's true.
And he's also writing a new hit girl comic series.
By the way.
Who is?
Kevin is.
Hit girl as in.
As in hit girl.
That's happening.
Let's see.
Netflix developing a sequel to Death Note after that failure.
We talked about that on last.
Was it a failure or was it?
It was not received well.
Okay.
Remember we talked about that last week when we were at anime fast.
Yeah.
I just remember that it had it had difficulties connecting with people because of its you
tried to shrink it into one movie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You can't do that with the story.
Lucy is her Lucy Lane.
Lucy jumped to one plane.
Okay.
And Hulu reviving Veronica Mars with Kristen Bell.
Kristen Bell.
Okay.
The people from the good place are actually being very gracious and letting her do both.
They're letting her split time.
That's good.
So don't put it in.
My wife checked out the good place.
She said she kind of liked it.
It just I can't get into it.
I watched a couple episodes and look at me.
It's just it's just not my thing.
A lot of TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
Swat season one that revival.
I don't think it's making season two so it might be the complete series.
Really?
Chicago med season three.
Lucifer season three and I think this is their final season if I'm not mistaken.
Lucifer?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The flash season four Brooklyn nine nine season five Chicago fire season six.
I know you're a big fan of the Chicago shows.
Once upon a time season seven scandals final two seasons NCIS Los Angeles season nine.
Can you believe that?
Doc's favorite number?
No, I really can't.
Criminal minds season 13.
What?
And a documentary called 30 years of summer slam.
This week on TV and DVD and DVD and DVD and DVD and DVD and DVD and DVD and DVD and DVD.
M-O-U-S-E.
Walk talk.
It's been a long week.
You always see the Clubhouse podcast.
We appreciate you being with us next week's show.
Normal time.
Different place.
Next week is who needs sleep 2018?
Make sure you bookmark who needs sleep dot org in your browser because man, we're going
to be doing a lot of cool stuff.
We're going to have bands.
We're going to have podcasts.
We're going to have round tables.
We're having a nerd girls round table sir.
All right.
Real fast.
Swat season two was renewed.
Okay.
Okay.
In March.
In Shamar more than that if I'm not mistaken.
Yes.
But we're having a nerd girls round table at midnight leading into our cosplay dance party.
So the Donna is going to be leading a nerd round table of all females, which is going
to be really awesome.
I can't wait to see that.
What's the cosplay thing?
Cosplay.
You know what cosplayers are?
No.
Costume.
Okay.
Okay.
So people like D-Ritch, friend of the show, you saw a lot of it last week and it's a ton
of it on Saturday.
Okay.
That's cosplay.
Okay.
So we're going to have a dance party with a DJ for three hours and people are going
to be dressed in costume hanging out and having a good time here.
Do you want me to come in my costume?
No.
No.
Not that one.
I actually have a real costume for Halloween.
Yeah, but dabba.
You have a dabba.
Do now.
We're not yet.
That's where that comes from.
See?
You leave the door open.
I'm going to tap it.
You have a dabba.
No.
No.
You want me to.
If you want to dress up in your Fred Flintstone and you want to come shake your
tookus for three hours, who am I to tell you otherwise?
Because that's acceptable and I make a good Fred.
The man he has a point.
Just imagine.
You really can't debate that.
I have the outfit.
He makes a better Fred than I made Bambam that one year.
Yeah.
You make a good rock.
I know that.
I'm just, you know, like I said, if you want to come in, come, I'm not going to stop
you.
I might be in another room, but I'm not going to stop you because I was trying to audition
for the No Way Hosea line and I actually worked in a No Way Hosea reference.
It didn't work from Adam Rose.
I'm not going to work with this guy.
Oh, you mean it's not.
It isn't.
It's working.
No.
It is what it is.
But join us.
We're going to be on our normal time.
Go to hoonysleep.org.
We are going to have the audio up.
I just don't know how long it's going to take me.
I'm going to try to get an audio recording of it so I can get it uploaded, but it's going
to depend on how everything works out.
And we're going to talk more about that at the end of the show.
So stick around.
Let's get to P.O.I.
P.O.I.
Since we're person of interest, it is a segment we do on this show where we're going
to take a person or an entity and debate their greatness or lack thereof.
And for me today, it's lack thereof.
This is something that, in theory, is great.
But in Dallas, in practice, it is not.
Oh.
Do I know where you're going with this?
You might.
Many years ago, there was a time where it didn't take me an hour and a half to go 28 miles.
And I wish I wish I was exaggerating.
For those of you that don't know, I might say 28 miles.
It's 28 miles from my garage door to the front door of my office.
If I leave at 6 a.m., I might work at 6.30.
If I leave at 6.10, I might work at 7 o'clock.
Wow.
So my window for traffic is incredibly narrow.
When I leave, it doesn't matter.
It's a mess.
It doesn't matter.
It takes me an hour and a half.
So Dallas, in its infinite wisdom, decided to do something about it.
And they created the express lanes.
Problem.
They never really finished them.
There is a plan.
But they never really finished them.
I hate these things.
Road construction in general, in this, in this bird, is always a dicey proposition.
Like you just said, they'll start something and I'm like, where is the finish line?
And in theory, this was great, because LBJ, which is also known as I-635 here in Dallas,
traffic now.
But it's now 70 miles an hour when there's not traffic.
You can drive 70.
The express lanes are 75, which is even better, because now I can go faster.
If you are on the western half of it, it's amazing.
It's three lanes, sometimes four.
And I'm burning.
Dude, I'm burning.
You're talking about the lower level stuff?
Yes.
Okay.
The express lanes.
The subterranean stuff.
Yeah.
The problem is the eastern half of it is just the old HOV lane, which is one lane.
And it's got these stupid plastic stupid things that they're not stopping anybody from
doing anything.
They don't harm your car.
They just cut in and out whenever they feel like it.
Yeah.
And that causes worse traffic because pen people are cutting in, but they stop because
they want to wait for a hole.
That's problem number one.
Right.
It was where that divide happens.
And I'm sure the other cities are dealing with these same things.
Here, where it goes from the three lanes to the one lane, if you're coming east, it's
just past what we call the high five, right, which is a nightmare unto itself.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Which is easily of the entire stretch of 635, the second busiest section of it.
Where's the first, the 35 split, mm-hmm, web chapel, the Preston, oh, okay, okay, okay,
which is about five miles away from where this happens.
Right.
Bottle-necking traffic from three lanes to one in the worst possible place to do so.
And then you've got other people trying to get into that HOV lane in the same place.
And with the stupid plastic things.
And if I have my history right here, it was about what four years ago that we witnessed
that accident at that very spot, but that wasn't it didn't exist yet.
That wasn't in the express lane.
That wasn't on the upper level.
Yeah.
It was in the same geographical open.
And Don, I don't know that we've ever told you this story, but Chad and I, when we were
working together, we were carpooling to work one day.
We actually saw somebody cut somebody else out.
Didn't even stop.
It's the only time I've ever seen a car roll and land on its roof and ground to a halt
like right beside us.
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
I mean, the lady in that car got really lucky because one of the people that stopped was
a nurse.
Yeah.
And that's what enabled us to move on.
Yeah.
But there's another part of it, too, that's an even bigger issue.
Because they say, in air quotes, we all know that the tolls change.
It's not a static toll, right?
And they say higher times that it's based on the traffic and the heaviness of the traffic.
I call shenanigans on that.
I believe it's on a timer.
Really?
Uh-huh.
Because I've seen it change.
Yeah.
I've done the research here.
I've seen it change and I marked the time when I saw it change.
And I've seen the same thing happen two or three other times with different traffic patterns.
So like from 515 to 540, it's one thing and then all of a sudden it'll, it'll, yeah.
And then exactly 20 minutes later.
Because I used to love taking the express lanes.
Because they do save you time.
Unfortunately coming home, it just hoses the beast.
But going in, it was great.
But when I realized it was costing me six, seven bucks each way.
Got it.
And then you add, and that's, that's what, ten miles stretch of road at the most.
Then you add to it.
So you got me six, seven bucks each way, almost 20 bucks a day.
Five days a week.
Yeah.
Remember that my wife works three exits down the freeway from me.
Hmm.
So this is 150 a week to train the two of you.
That's rent.
Yeah.
Wow.
And I'm like, my, my original thought process was, well, if I'm sitting in traffic I'm
going to spend that in gas.
Incorrect.
Oh, no way.
It's about my patience because not with the new car.
I get better gas mileage.
Hmm.
Now, when I was in Vegas, my, I had one of those Dodge chargers with the, it had a hammy.
And you know how your car can show you your gas mileage?
Well, mine can't.
But yeah, I know what you're once, yeah.
You know what that thing gets?
The hammy in the, in the charger?
Hmm.
About 16 bucks to the, 16 miles of the gallon.
Yeah.
You know what my Chevy Equinox gets?
Hmm.
28 to 30.
Thank you very much.
Nice.
And it's a smaller gas tank too.
This is just a, it's a failed idea.
Yeah.
It's, it's, it's not as bad as what it is on I 30 where they have the concrete barriers
that they move back and forth every day.
Oh, God.
That's a failure.
That's a failure.
I've said that since, as long as I've lived here, that's a failure.
Now, just to make you even happier with the traffic, there is that talk where they're
going to extend what they did between 35 and high five and do that all the way straight
clear to 80.
When they get it done, if they do it the same way they did it on the west side, if
they end up doing that on the east side, granted.
It's going to take another seven years and there go my taxes.
Yeah.
Well, no, actually that thing, no tax dollars were paid to do that high five.
They're making it all back on tolls.
It's an investment opportunity like it is.
But again, yeah, this is one couple and then six hundred bucks a month, and that's
what they're getting over all we used to.
And to make you even happier, there's talk of them doing that from 635 on 75, clear to
past.
Alan.
Were they going to do an expression?
No, yeah, they're working on that now.
Like I get the concept.
I have respects to the concept.
It's just the execution of it has been nothing short of a failure.
Now let me kind of say this that in defense, there's two points I want to make.
Number one is their fail is that they have a plan because a lot of people are moving
to Dallas and Texas from other states.
The population is growing in.
I know.
You're absolutely right.
They see it.
They plan on it by the time they get something done and completed to expand a roadway because
of the not our populations.
Guess what?
By the time they got it done, it didn't mean nothing, you know, because there's populations
already passed it.
Yeah.
But that's been that's been the history of this town.
When 75 was originally designed, the designers went to the city and said this thing really
should be four lanes on each side.
In the city and the state said, no, two lanes are fine.
And that's a good decade to fix.
Now I'll say this one thing which I appreciate they do in Texas is these companies that do
to the construction is they give them the they have to do what they call the time limit
bonus.
Yeah, which for those who don't know, every day that they complete the schedule ahead
of time, they get like a $35,000 bonus per day.
And every day that they fall behind, they get fine $70,000, which I think is great because
these companies go, do you know what?
We'll have them work around the clock.
The extra money they pay on ship day differential still gives them a bone extra money.
But the issue is like yesterday, if it was a prime example yesterday, I was all over
the Metroplex.
You know, I left here early in the morning to drive up to Lewisville on the north side
because I was helping for the show, Mark Walters with his comic book show this weekend had
to go from there down to the west side to go to the board meeting for who needs sleep.
Then to go back to Lewisville before I came home, they had the right lane on 35 shut down
for about a mile from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Like overnight, I'll deal with it.
Like that's on me if I'm out there in the overnight doing the thing.
Ask me again when I was living out in the colony for that little stretch, why I didn't
drive to work every day.
Ask me again.
But you gotta give it that they expanded 35 in the detonary by Lewisville over the lake.
I mean, they have really expanded it.
But what I'm saying is, I don't mind when you do that in the overnight because in the
overnight, first of all, we all know nothing new that happens after midnight anyway.
Secondly, if I'm out driving, like that's okay by me because they're trying to get
in.
But when it's new on a Saturday, that's a bad idea, but it's better than 70 a.m. on
a Friday.
No, I agree with you, but it's still not a good idea.
They have to work some time.
Work the overnight.
Plus, it's going to be cooler.
It's 140 in the shade this time of year, and you're laying tar.
They have to get done some time, and I'd rather have them do it at that time than five
o'clock on the Tuesday afternoon.
They need to do it in the overnight.
It's the only time to do it that makes any sense.
It used to be the only time they did.
They must be under the gun right now.
But here's the thing.
You look at other states, how they do that thing, and they get stuff done.
If it's some of these other states, they...
Well, we don't hear about all their woes.
I'm sure they exist.
My dad hates what they call pen dot out there in Pennsylvania.
Mm-hmm.
We saw a huge...
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Here's the thing.
Like out there is union and all that stuff and everything and yoddy-oddy, and I'm not
going to debate that.
They're not.
The thing is, is though, even we saw a huge construction site, they put them into construction
for years.
And this is, you know, two o'clock on a Tuesday when they're supposed to be working, guess
there's one person there in the whole stretch, and that's the work time for the unions.
One person.
One person we're going to hold, and he's by just surveying.
Yeah, he's doing nothing.
He's doing nothing.
Who's there?
The old comedy bit.
It says, slow men working.
I'm here.
He's shovels eating.
Yeah, I understand.
But then working on a weekend and stuff like that, hey, they're trying to get it done.
No, I agree with you, but there's a better way to do it.
When it's the last weekend, or the first weekend after school starts for some people, the
last weekend before school starts for other people, it's just a nightmare.
It's a nightmare.
Let's get this done right.
All right, gentlemen, let's move on and talk a little NFL, because preseason is week three
of the preseason.
What?
He loves the preseason as much as I live a root canal.
But let's go through the store.
First of all, boy, what a barn burner we had Thursday night, as the Cleveland Browns beat
the Philadelphia Eagles five to nothing.
How did that happen?
See, the field go.
That's what I thought.
Okay.
Just the only thing it could have been.
Hey, we won a game.
And they, and they covered the Giants beat the Jess, they were, they were giving three.
It's the preseason.
I know.
I know.
And plus the fact of Carson Wentz, the city's not playing in the preseason.
Can I not that I don't play in the show?
You can't play in what's with with Dez.
I haven't watched this week's hard enough, shit.
I know he's in it, but he hasn't signed yet.
Oh, he hasn't signed.
No.
No.
The Giants over the Jets, 22 to 16, I had 50 bucks on New York, so I think I did okay.
Denver beats the Washington football club by 12.
The Carolina Panthers beat New England by 11, again, it's the preseason, kids.
Seattle loses to Minnesota by a point.
My Buccaneers lose by a field goal.
Chicago beats Kansas City by a touchdown.
The Raiders.
Win by seven over the Green Bay Panthers.
The Rams by one over the Texans.
Don, your Steelers beat Tennessee by 10.
Baltimore beats up on the Dolphin, so I were kind of used to that.
By 17, Indianapolis over San Francisco by six.
People are saying, Andrew looks looking good, just keep him healthy, kids.
Jacksonville over Atlanta, 17 to six.
New Orleans over the Chargers, 36 to seven.
And Cincinnati beats up on Buffalo, 26 to 13, and your Cowboys just getting underway hosting
Arizona.
You know, I did it.
What?
This was week three, right?
Yep.
One more to go.
Yeah.
You know, this is where you get the third stringers and stuff to see who gets a spot.
So you're gonna, you're gonna get more of that anyways, so.
So next week, starting on Thursday, you're gonna have my dolphins will be at Atlanta.
Indy will be at Cincinnati.
Cleveland will be at Detroit.
The Patriots will be at the Giants.
The Jets will be at the Eagles.
Don, your Pittsburgh Steelers will be hosting Carolina on Thursday night at 6.30 our
time.
Jacksonville will be at my Buccaneers.
Washington will be at Baltimore, Buffalo at Chicago, Minnesota at Tennessee.
The Rams at New Orleans, Dallas will be at Houston, Green Bay at KC, Denver at Arizona,
Los Angeles at the Niners, and the Raiders will be at Seattle.
That's all Thursday.
It's all Thursday.
So that way we can start getting ready, because the week after it's going to be a whole
pretty week.
I didn't know what I did.
Your heart broken that pre-season is going to be so ready.
It's college starts next weekend.
So it's about to go down.
I thought it was already up in the running.
There might have been some days, number one right now.
Alabama.
No.
What a shocker.
It is what it is.
Alright.
So let's get into just a cup, one, only one music headline this week.
Do you see the record that was broken this week?
Yeah, I know some people that are not happy about it too, but if you're going to lose it,
lose it to those guys.
Thriller, now no no longer the biggest selling album of all time, as the Eagles greatest
hits passes the mark.
Really?
Yep.
So congratulations to those boys.
Music new release is this week, Alkaline Trio's back.
With an album called, is this thing cursed?
Amos Lee with My New Moon, Megan Schrainer has a new album out this week called Treat
Myself, and Troy Sivan, he's going to be playing at the Irving Music Factory here in
a little while.
So he's something.
It's called Bloom.
Yeah, I saw a Venge 7 Folds tour got canceled.
They were due to play here on the first.
Oh, were they?
Yeah.
Alright, gentlemen, let's talk a little bit more in for a minute.
Oh, this is going to be.
We're going to do these in chronological order.
First up, Ed King at 68.
Ed King was a guy originally in a band called Strawberry Alarm Clock, if you remember
some called incense and peppermints.
But why would you?
I actually have that.
Never mind, I'll say incense and peppermint.
Yeah, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
He would end up joining Leonard Skinnerd and would play with him, I think, till 87, and
then he would come back a little bit later.
He's the guy that played the lick in Sweet Home Alabama.
Oh, blah, blah, blah, yep.
So then Robin Leach at 76, it was so weird to see the announcement of the death of Robin
Leach because I saw him mentioned on something like two or three days before.
Really?
I was watching something and it was archival footage that he was in.
I was like, you know what, Robin, I've been thought about that guy in a long time.
This was a guy that made us realize why we all hate our lives in the 80s because he hosted
a show called The Lifestyle, The Rich and Fymus.
It was always one of my favorite Robin Williams bits that I can't go into all of on this show.
This guy's got more money than you can dream of, you know.
I'm Robin Leach with a voice so annoying, even animals say, who are you?
Can't King join Skinnerd in 72 and they went through 76.
And then he came back.
And 87.
That's what it was.
The lifestyle of The Rich and Fymus went 11 years.
Can you believe that?
84 to 95, he was born in London.
He edited the school magazine at age 14.
He became a news reporter while attending the hero school for boys earning $6 a week
after graduation.
Started a glossy town magazine at age 17.
He actually worked for the Daily Mail as Britain's youngest page 1 reporter at 18.
Wow.
In 63, he emigrated to the States, I like this, maintaining his English accent throughout
his life.
Really?
You think?
Never picked up on that.
Road for the New York Daily News.
He wrote for people.
He wrote for ladies' home journal, which launched Go magazine in 1967.
He launched that.
That's what it says.
Started his TV career with AM Los Angeles with Regis Philbitt.
I worked with Robin Leach.
Can you believe it?
I love Robin Leach.
He was a wonderful man.
He was great.
I called him Cookie.
It was amazing.
That was dead on.
I just want you to know that.
Also, you guys could know who their third was on that show?
It's a name you haven't heard in a long time.
Sarah Purcell.
Wow.
Who's the third on that show?
This real people.
He up would go on, of course, to work for CNN Entertainment tonight, and he also helps
start Good Morning Australia, and he helps start the Food Network.
Really?
Wow.
Did not know that.
See what I learned in something?
There were many of four, gave the rules for the championship, Tournament.
This was a guy that he showed you while your life sucked, and you didn't care.
He was all over the park.
He was all over the park.
He was all over the park.
He was all over the park.
He kind of sent an eerie.
He goes, I was like the Butler allowed to the main floor from the places.
He goes with the stars.
It's like people to do the tours and see the fence around the house, but this way they
could get into the house and kind of do the thing.
Every episode, he always ended with campaign wishes and caviar dreams.
He was the original MTV crib, in a way.
If he did a Montana version, he'd end every show with moonshine wishes and hot dog dreams.
No.
Pokerines dreams.
Pokerines.
Yeah.
John McCain passed away at 81.
Oh, yeah.
I bring that.
Yes, we do.
Yes, we do.
Guys.
He's an American.
Yeah.
When you talk about America, you say America, that guy is America.
Was captured in Vietnam.
Yeah.
I mean, this was a guy, like you can't, like we can't even, we can't even scratch the surface
and do.
No, we can't do any justice, but we can't not mention it.
Oh, yeah, because he's a guy that was a lifelong politician, a guy ran for president.
No, he's a lifelong servant, but a soldier, then a politician.
Yeah, no, I agree.
You know, you're absolutely right.
I'll go with you there, I'm with on that.
But the word I kept hearing in New yesterday was Maverick, over and over, but there's constantly
Maverick.
And this guy here, I mean, he, you know, people complain about terminates and stuff like
that, but this guy thought of it as a service being in the Congress.
A lot of politicians don't.
They just care about getting reelected.
No, this guy goes, I'm serving.
And this guy served in the Senate.
Let's just be right.
He served.
He served in the military.
He served as his duty to be a senator, and he didn't care about the party politics.
He goes, I want to do what's right.
Yeah, I admired the man.
I had a deep admiration for this guy.
And we definitely want to send our both to his, to his family and friends.
And then finding out today, Neil Simon passed away a long time playwrights.
That one hit me pretty hard because I'm a theater baby, so grew up in New York City during
the Great Depression.
But he was always a big fan of the films and loved Charlie Chaplin served in the Air Force
Reserve, which he addressed in some of his plays.
He wrote scripts for radio and some early television shows.
He wrote for, since these are your show of shows.
He also worked with Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, the Phil Silver Show.
His first, he once his first play was written in 1961 called Come Blow Your Horn.
And he would go on to do Barefoot in the Park, the odd couple, which we won a Tony
Four, Bouloxie Blues, which I am a huge fan of the Matthew Broderick film of the same
way, Brighton Beach Memoirs.
Didn't he do the Goodbye Girl?
I want to say yes.
Lost in Yonkers.
When a Pulitzer Prize in 1991 for drama.
The biggest thing I think though is that he has a Broadway theater named after him.
He did murder by death.
Oh gosh.
For God's sake.
Be out of towners.
I mean, you know, there's, you've got a very short list of Broadway writers that are
just Hall of Famers, first ballot Hall of Famers.
And they probably ought to have the Hall of Fame named after him if it's built here.
Oh, you know, he's got his own theater all around.
Married for 10 years to Marsha Mason.
He ended up, led his last, but his last marriage is to Elaine Joyce.
I quote Bouloxie Blues all the time, especially this time of year.
Top African.
Top African.
Tarzan couldn't take this kind of hot.
That and I do love the scene where he loses his virginity to the lady of the evening.
And she says, come to mama and he says, if it's okay, let's not bring my mother into
this.
That was in.
I remember that was in the trailer.
Uh huh.
I remember the name of the sequel to that.
Still as Brighton Beach memoirs.
No, that was the prequel.
Then Bouloxie Blues was the second one.
But it's a trilogy.
Oh, is it?
Uh huh.
Uh, let's see.
Let me find it here.
Bouloxie, is it Broadway bound?
Yes, that's it.
Okay.
83, 85, 86.
Um.
What's going on?
Oh, just a headline on McCain, which we're not going to bring out.
Oh, yeah, please don't.
Please don't because, yeah, we don't want to, we don't want you too deep into that.
But just, man, there's another big week for an in-memorium.
Mm-hmm.
It's not something we enjoy talking about.
Last week, this week.
Yeah.
And it's, it's been a big thing.
All right, gentlemen, let's just take a moment.
All right, let's get into some baseball talk real quick.
Yes, here we go, kids.
In the American League East, the Baltimore Orioles, 37 and 93.
Uh huh.
If you had 100 losses in the betting pool, you may want to visit customer service here
in about a week.
There are 52 games out.
So are they going to run for the wild card?
They are out of it.
They're one in nine in their last seven.
They've all seven in a row, sir.
At least they won one in the last nine.
They are 23 games back on the blue jays.
Toronto is nine and a half back on Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay is 13 back on the Yankees.
The Yankees now back six and a half back on Boston.
That's after Boston's lost three in a row and the Yankees have won three in a row.
In the AL Central, Kansas City, only two games ahead of Baltimore for the worst record
in the league.
They're 34 and a half back.
They are 11 and a half back on the White Sox.
The White Sox are a game and a half back on Detroit.
Detroit, 8 and a half back on Minnesota, Minnesota, now 13 back on Cleveland.
I'm still not playing Major League.
It's not time yet.
What's Don?
Oh, it's like Don, apparently Don going to queue up Major League in the other room.
I know what's going on there.
In the AL West, your Texas Ranger is still struggling, sir.
Yeah, it's not been a pretty scene.
58 and 74.
I would say though, let's see, it's 120, 132.
The magic numbers like six for them to not lose 100 games.
So they're 23 back.
They're six and a half back on law.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles County, California, America, North America,
Earth Milky Way.
And law is 11 back on Seattle, Seattle, five back on Oakland, Oakland, now a game and
a half back on Houston.
So that's that that division's still kind of tight.
And between Oakland and Houston, that's a, that's an eight game win streak, sir.
In the National League West, the San Diego Padres are 50 and 83.
They've lost five in a row.
They're 23 and a half back.
They are 15 and a half back on San Francisco, San Francisco, five and a half back on Misty's
Beloved Dodgers.
The Dodgers of Game and a half back on Colorado, Colorado, only a game back on Arizona.
In the NL Central, the Cincinnati Reds are terrible, they're 56 and 75.
They've lost five in a row.
They are 21 games back, they're eight games back on Don's Beloved Pittsburgh Pirates,
Don, your time is impeccable, your Pirates are that you're still 13 games out.
But you're only three games below 500, okay.
So you're keeping on a float there, you are, we're not there yet, we're not there yet.
They are eight and a half back on Milawakay, Milawakay, a half game back on St. Louis, St.
Louis, now four back on the Cubs, but the Cubs have won five in a row.
And now in the only division that matters, better believe it matters, the NL East, my,
Miami, Marlins, hey, we're only, you know, 26 games below 500.
We're 21 back, we are six back on the Metz.
The Metz are seven and a half back on the Nattinals, the Nattinals, five and a half back
on Philly.
My Braves now have a three game lead in that division and for those of you playing the
home game, the magic number is now four for me to win both of the bets that Alex made
for me in the Bahamas.
Not bad.
How about that?
How much was the bet?
I don't remember.
I don't think it was very much, but a win to win.
Yeah, I'll take a win.
And money is money.
Well, yeah.
I mean, I got to do the cash there.
I'm just trying to do there.
Done.
Okay.
All right.
So let's look at the wild card since Don asked about it in the American League.
Right now, your division leaders are Boston, Cleveland, Houston.
Right now, if the playoffs started today, your wild card teams would be the Yankees
in Oakland.
Now Seattle's five back Tampa Bay's nine back passed that L.A.'s 16 back.
So now in the National League, Atlanta's the Cubs Arizona or your division leaders.
As the playoffs started today, you would have St. Louis and Milwaukee as your wild card.
Here's where it gets a little weird.
All of these teams are within 10 games of the wild card right now.
Colorado, Philly, the Dodgers, Washington, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh at the bottom of that list, but it's only eight and a half games out.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, there's still 30 games left.
Yeah.
I mean, they're locked up in a tight one right now.
Yeah.
Hello, gentlemen, are we ready for America's favorite game show?
We have to be.
It's time for America's favorite game show.
What is the run differential for the Kansas City Chiefs?
Chiefs.
Chiefs.
Royals.
I'm in football mode already.
135.
135 done.
I can do the 136.
I can do that.
I'm saying 200.
200 even.
200 even.
200 even.
The Kansas City Royals are 40 and 91.
They give a 305 win percentage.
You're winning 30% of games and you play 162 of them at the end of it all.
They're 34 and a half games back.
What are we doing here?
Okay, let me go back here.
They're 20 and 45 at home.
They're 20 and 46 on the road.
So they're consistent.
They're three and seven in their last 10.
Chad said 125.
I said 34.
Still doesn't matter.
Don said 200.
However, Don was the closest without going over because the run differential for the Kansas
City Royals is minus 225.
Oh, jeez.
Now remember I said that there are three games better than Baltimore.
Baltimore is only seven by ahead of them in the run differential.
218.
Your best in the league right now, it looks like it's going to be Houston.
Houston.
Houston's plus 214.
So they almost do in the double of the, yeah, it's almost like Don to Steven.
Yeah.
Talk to Steven.
Oh, Doc, you're right.
You're right.
I apologize.
That was wrong with me to say.
All right, let's get into our next segment and we have an intro for that segment.
We are the kingdoms, the greatest group in Ring of Honor history and you, my friends,
you are checking out the Clubhouse podcast, Fight the Conspiracy and be one of us Melvin's.
All right.
Let's talk wrestling.
And again, Craig did Don for getting that for us.
They were cool.
They really were.
They were cool.
They were cool.
Taven's great.
Yes.
What is a Melvin exactly?
It's like a dork.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because that's what they call wedgies.
Some people call wedges.
Melvin's wedges.
I never like that.
Melvin, it's a Claudia.
I have heard that.
All right.
All right.
I went too far on the run sheet.
Okay.
So, no raw headlines this week, so let's get right into raw.
So Roman comes out with the universal title.
And I don't know, Don, do you, did you check out raw this week?
Yeah.
I don't know if they lowered the microphones on the audience, but that could have been
this oddest reaction to Roman Reigns coming out I've ever heard.
Real quick.
Let me go back.
Melvin, definition, Greek, geek, square, dork, dweeb, etc., ugly person, typically male.
I just wanted to give you that definition.
Okay.
I know.
I just wanted to give you that.
But Roman Reigns.
Okay.
That was a strange reaction to him.
Okay.
No, not nearly the reaction.
He got it.
The end of the show.
Yeah.
But Roman says, and I quote, I'm a man of my word.
I said I was going to beat Brock Lesnar and I did my reaction.
I mean, yeah, but the law of averages said you would eventually.
So you've been saying that for what a year now, I'm just saying.
And if you want to get Roman face heat, him saying that he would defend against Phil
Finn Balor, did it.
Because the minute he said he was going to defend against Phil Finn Balor, that crowd
was on his side.
Yeah.
Very strange.
Um.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
Just lost my thought on that, but, um, no, the, the night before they brought, they put
stroman out on purpose because they thought that would take off the heat between Brock
and Roman.
But it didn't mean it.
Because they were worried.
They were worried that they would get another, another match when Romans on the pay-per-view
where there are chanting other people's names.
And they think that stopped it because it did when you had two people who weren't too
alike, especially Lesnar with this thing, having brought out their stop that kind of
chance of other people like having a match.
And can we say a belated happy birthday this week from last week to Byron Saxon?
Yeah.
And you know who told me about that?
L.A.
Uh-huh.
The rest of him was celebrate the birth of a legend.
And then Alex sent me a screenshot because L.A. sent him the same message.
And Alex's response says, well, future Hall of Famer.
But I'm like, L.A.
You, you know this is coming.
Now you put that out there.
This is coming.
Now if they keep the angle like they ended the show with, oh, we're going to get there.
We're going to, oh, we can split a week.
So we talked in pre-show about Triple H's promo.
He cut four, him and the taker.
I still prefer the game to bow down to the king.
The game is such a better song.
But if I got to choose from the other one though, evolution is still my favorite.
Oh, evolution.
It is a mystery.
I know that.
I get goosebumps every time that thing gets there.
That whole entrance was one of the dopest things they've done in this century with the
gold coming down for the ceiling and all four of them just stand in there.
And I was at 17 when they did the game.
There was 90.
I saw it.
I was there.
TLC.
And this is, this is, this is, this is literally my words from my notes, Triple H.
One of if not the best storyteller on the mic and in the ring.
I dare you to define me.
You have, you guys that have one?
You have guys that have the other.
He is on a short list, if not the greatest of all time at both.
Paul Haman possibly.
Haman didn't get the ring.
That's what I'm saying.
You guys have, while you guys are good at one thing, you guys had a good, a good at the
other thing.
H is, if not best, he's in the metal round of the greatest of all time.
The rock.
I was just about to say.
That's what I'm saying.
I still would put H above Rocky because there's an intensity to H that I don't think has
been matched by anybody outside of the flare.
He makes them more personal than, than more than the glam ha ha.
My thing with macho, Chad was pointing to his shirt.
My thing with Savage is there was always a level of bit to Savage for me.
I love Savage.
You know I do.
Yeah.
But there was the intensity of him selling that bit that made it so dead give entertain.
But it wasn't that, that gritty realism that H brings to the table.
Well, but every, there's a time and I will tell you, go back and watch that promo.
Yeah.
Go back and watch that promo because you haven't seen it yet.
Go back and watch that promo.
But you're also talking about two completely different eras of wrestling because Savage
wouldn't go over today and you can why I don't chew it up on Hulu because Hulu does
that 90 minute version of raw.
Just chew it straight up.
You can watch it that way for free.
Okay.
I think you'll just have to watch.
I agree.
He's in the metal round.
I mean, just that promo, there are only a few who can do that.
That, that promo stopped me from everything I was doing and had me glued to the television
for seven minutes.
Hmm.
But do you know who's growing?
The Miz.
Oh God.
The Miz.
Give it to as much as I hate him from Cleveland.
Yeah.
I know.
He's one of the best heels in the company right now.
Yeah.
I just, he's one of the best talkers in the company.
We have a sign from both shows this week.
Haven't had sign of the week in a while because there hasn't been any good signs.
So from raw, it was a sign that just said, I hate my clients.
That was kind of weird, right?
I also realized that Dean Ambrose now looks like Donnie Walberg.
It was bugging me last week of who he looks like now.
I realized he looks like, not Marky Mark.
He looks like Donnie Walberg.
Oh.
The one that's on blue blood.
The one that's on blue blood.
Yeah.
He was in new kids.
Oh.
Saw.
He was in saw.
He was in saw.
He was in the saw.
He was in the saw movie.
He was in the sixth sense.
Impact.
Yes, it was.
He was the drugie in the sixth sense.
Impact show from Manchester on September 9th will air on their Twitch channel.
So if you've got nothing to do in the middle of the day on the opening day of VNFL, good luck
impact.
Yeah.
It's not from Warx.
Uh, Neville's contract has officially run out.
So he is now officially a free agent's Eric Rowan now out with bicep surgery for around
six months.
Can both of these guys stay healthy for longer in a year?
Obviously.
It's not Rowan.
It's Harper.
And I think I saw the spot where it happened.
Don, if you watch Smackdown, I think I saw the spot where it happened when he went.
No, it happened at the paper view.
But he did this thing.
Oh.
Because it looked like it happened.
That's why he didn't wrestle much.
Because when he went through the, when he went through the barrier, it looks like that's
what happened to me.
So it did happen at the paper.
Yeah, it happened on the paper view.
But then they, to lose that, you know, the, uh, Smackdown live, sign of the week, right
in the second row.
Comic sans rules.
Haha.
Haha.
Haha.
I admire your courage, sir.
Okay.
Wow.
Um, I have no idea what Gallows and Anderson were parroting.
It was something Australian.
That's all I know.
Maybe it's the WWE Australian commentators.
I had no idea it was going on there.
Uh, and why was this a special edition of Smackdown?
They kept saying in this special edition of Smackdown, what was special about it?
Not a dog on thing.
I'm a very special edition of Smackdown.
And I do like Becky's new shirt.
I really like your new shirt.
And you know what, go at the angle.
It took me a year of sticking by my guns, but smartest man alive, I finally got the heel
turn.
I'm waiting for it.
And if you had been here when that happened, you had already left on, hadn't you?
Yeah, yeah.
And Chad, you were, you were under the weather.
When that match ended, I think all of us were autorefical turn, turn, do do the turn
now, turn on her now, turn now, turn now, it was so wet.
I, I will honestly say, you know, eventually like we're Bayley turned, Bayley turned,
you know, I mean, eventually if, as long as you stay in the business, eventually it'll
happen.
But, but yeah, it's, I think it's good for her.
And the end of raw, the shield is back together and see that's the thing, change the bit.
But that was cool though, because the fact that you've pretty, you now had to turn brawn
heel for it.
You turn him heel, you turn the shield heel.
I don't know that you did.
That's what they did.
They turned the shield, they turned the shield, if I see that tomorrow night, I'll admit
that you're right, but I don't know that they did because because he kind of think he
said, I'm going to come out, you know, I'm coming face to face and he comes out face
to face.
And then right for the starts and they played the theme chat.
They did the whole zero hotel, India, echo, literally, Seth Rollins came out in full regalia.
Dean Ambrose had a compression shirt on that had the hounds of justice logo on the left
side.
And he is like unrecognizable, I don't, he looks like Donnie Walberg doing the three on
one against Strowman when he is going to do a man up cash in, that's turning them heel.
Well, I'll see you tomorrow night.
And as raw went off the air because they triple power bombed him through the announce table
and it was the triple fist and that place exploded and it did.
So I'll be interested to see where this goes.
And my whole thing is let this thing be for a while.
Don't let this be a two week thing and then you break him up again, that's what I heard.
Ambrose got hurt, that's why they kind of had to do it.
But they keep doing this thing, they all go their separate ways.
You could have kept Roman and somebody got hurt, he got hurt, he had to leave, so he had
to do something.
Yeah, but you could still kept Roman and set together.
Yeah.
That's my whole thing.
All right, gentlemen, we already talked some box offers against the movie talk.
Don, is there anything else you had for wrestling talk that you want to talk about?
Oh, impact maybe fall asleep when I watched it.
You know what that means?
It was Thursday.
I wasn't going to say it.
All right, from our friends at box office, Mojo, let's give you some numbers from
the box office this weekend.
Dropping out of the top 10 this week from 9 to 11, hotel Transylvania 3, it's made $159
million.
Wow.
I shouldn't have exclusive whatever.
Um, jeez, you're going to be able to look at something now.
I shouldn't have exclusive 400.
That was number 400.
400?
Yep.
And I blamed Don because Mama Mia here we go again, has now dropped out of the top 10,
but it made a...
Go man, Jellica.
I don't think it's there.
I'm just saying.
I had stuff to do.
I'm just saying, I blame you.
It only made $116 million.
I don't want budget.
75.
So it made money.
Hey.
Yeah, but the first one made a ton.
Let's see.
So it's dropping from 8 to 10 this week.
Slender man.
Wow.
Wow.
I'm going to say it's Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, so I like all three of those films.
Slender man makes $2.8 million, $3.25, $4 million on a $10 million budget.
XL, debut is a ninth place this week.
There wasn't even a screening for this was there.
Hey, XL.
This is the thing with the robot dog.
That's the thing I thought that bet what was it alpha was?
I don't know.
Yeah, that's not what this was.
No.
This looks terrible.
Yeah, it looks like $9 million.
Still better than Billionaire's voice club.
Oh, yeah.
Did you see that story, Don?
Because $126 period.
Black clansmen dropped from 7 to 8, another $5.3 million, $3 weeks, $32 million, $15 million
budget.
Exclusive.
$4.11.
You haven't gone yet, have you, Chad?
No.
Put it on your agenda this week, dude, seriously.
Alpha drops from 5 to 7, another $5.6 million, $2 weeks, $20.1 million, $51 million budget.
I wish I could saw that as an Austin.
Mile 22 drops from 3 to 6.
You in general, both review.
Yeah.
$6 million, $2 weeks, $25.1 on $50 million.
That's right.
You did as well.
I don't think no way, but she couldn't.
Was she not at that one?
I thought she was.
No, but our review is at www.theclubhouseblogcast.com.
That's our website.
That was a nice thing.
She did the...
Oh, she...
Okay.
That's right.
She was at the Army Darker Sky.
There's two...
Do you choose a review?
Right.
Goes from 6 to 5 this week, $6.3 million, $4 weeks, $77.6 million.
Should I?
No, budget.
But it lost 208 theaters to do it, too.
So, muzzle top, muzzle top.
Mission impossible.
Mission impossible.
Fallout holds steady at fourth, another $8 million, $5 weeks.
What's wrong with it, too, y'all?
I thought after you said muzzle top, you said Mission Impossible.
Well, my...
Please don't tell me you got to say Mission Impossible top.
It's been a long week.
You know what, that's my next film.
It's about a group of rabbis who are actually secret agents.
I get...
I get partial credit for this now.
For the 10th sense it's gonna make.
We now have a title for this episode.
It's about...
It's about...
It's about to do...
You beauty except this mission.
Not some...
And then that happened.
You're honestly gonna call this...
Mission Impossible.
That's what I'm calling it.

I don't think it's gonna need that much low. I mean this is gonna be an interesting year for you. Yeah
Danny Boyle now out of directing bond 25. It's kind of sad to hear that happening
And it's looking more and more like Daniel Craig is losing interest. They got to get this thing done
They've got to get this thing done now
Well, we we're in there in you still have a film to go but they're talking who the replacing is it's like
What I mean? I'm he's contracted for bonds 25. I know, but it's kind of like hey, why's there? I even care
Because they know he doesn't want to do another one after this. You've got to make a plan now really you have to so he said
I don't I don't want anymore. He's he didn't want to do this one
But they're like your contract says you got to do bond 25. Yeah, cuz he says it's just it takes such a physical toll
On the actor
Guardians of galaxy volume three now on hold. Yeah, not a good sign in the wake of the James gun firing
Brendan Frazier is gonna be in doom patrol
What he's playing robot man. I thought he was like just done. No, he's gonna be in doom patrol man
Okay, all right. He's gonna be the the human backstory for robot man, but another actor is going to play robot man himself because
Physicality. Yeah, CG thing. Uh new cast members joining maverick
John ham
What's your high-fiel about that?
Ed Harris I'm watching a watch ad heres read the phone book. I'm good with that and a Lewis Pullman son of bill

For the uninitiated. Yes, maverick is the top guns equal. Yes. Yeah, when I went to that top gun screening a couple of weeks ago
Charlotte got sick so Dave came with me
There were people in front of us at the end of movie gun. There's gonna be a sequel
Come here. Welcome back from the cake. Could you come here for a second? Can you step over? Yeah, just you know
I'm not talking about the male Brooks. I mean the male Gibson thing either
Remember maverick? No, that was the movie that was based on the TV show
But no the maverick is the name of the top gun. But you know, I'm talking. There's a movie called maverick
With Jody Foster and with James Garner. Yeah, yeah
Which was based on the show with because it's basically a continuation like male Gibson plays
Spoiler alert from 20 years ago. He plays maverick's son. Okay
You never watch the show. Yeah, there was a great TV show. It was a western with Jim Garner was that that was before rockford files
Why didn't it? Yeah, yeah, I love that show. It's a great show
Let's see where are we here
Wait, wait, wait, did you say you were too young? Yeah
Mentally boy, I need to tell you about these shows like I love Lucy and Gilligan's island that we're around back in the day that you
Obviously never heard of those either because you're too young
Hey, yeah, yeah
So now I'm conflicted under the explore
I was never on board with this idea. I wasn't
It's gonna be Michael Bay involved. It's gonna be weird. Guess who's playing her father?
Who? Michael Pina
Okay
That alone you know how I feel about Michael Pina that alone can't save something that is doomed to fail
Did I tell you what Bernardin said on fat man a few weeks ago
That he would pay 50 bucks to watch a 20-minute
YouTube video of Michael Pina's character and Antman just telling the entire story of the
Yeah, we talked about that. Yes. Yeah
Let's see and I totally beyond bored with it and Zendaya has been offered the lead of the lead role in Disney's live action the Little Mermaid
Okay
That last version came out last week did not do it better than Aquafina
Man, here's a point
Aquafina that's a person remember and you've seen crazy rich Asians
I think he's talking about he thinks I'm out from a name standpoint. I don't think he's actually talking from its house
No, no, no, no, okay. I thought you bit as an actor. She's not like her because she knows he just knows how much that that name
Just annoys me you're not naming that because I looked it up
Little mermaid water Aquafina
Got him to come around on the shape of water by the way. I don't know. Did you did he changed your mind on the shape of water?
I got it now, but still they didn't over did that last thing
Spend a year. This was the spoon. I had to you know
So moving your real bases and places you see movie new releases this week and I'm really bummed. I'm gonna miss the screenings this week

Not saying anything. I'm not saying anything. Okay
Because you've already seen it. Yeah, yeah, because I've got your review. I just haven't edited it yet
destination wedding
With Keanu Reeves and without a rider who are
Legally married actually are actually married. Yeah
Let's see in this the story of two miserable and unpleasant wedding guests who develop a mutual affection despite themselves
So this is like looks like a cheaper version of table 19, which is a wonderful movie and you should see it
Also this week can did you look this up sir? No, okay, so let me tell you about this film. I think I've seen the spot really think you're gonna enjoy this
uh
Josh Franco's in this Zoe Kravitz Dennis Quay Jack Raynor. Okay. Yes. I have seen the spots for this. Yeah
So chased by a vengeful criminal the feds and a gang of other worldly soldiers are recently released ex-con in his adopted teenage brother
A force to go on the run with a weapon of mysterious origin as their only protection
It looks like a like a gun from doom or something. It looks cool. Again. I'm bummed. I'm gonna miss it
Also, I had to put this on there because I saw the poster and I don't know what's going on here
It's called blood fest
Zach Levi Tate Donovan or Owen Edgerton's in this
Here's the deal
Fans flock to a festival celebrating the most iconic horror movies only to discover that the charismatic showman behind the event
Has a diabolical agenda as festival attendees start dying off three teenagers more schooled in horror film clichés than practical knowledge about neutralizing
Psycho killers must band together and battle through various madman and monstrosities to survive
This unlike something you would be interested in it does sound kind of fun. It might be up your alley
And directed by Owen Edgerton and written by over interested as well
DVD and blue rays and places you get DVD and blue ray new releases this week that was a whole map to that film was
Released at South by Southwest. Oh, was it okay. Yeah, I number searching opens this weekend too next this coming
Oh, this coming. That wasn't on my list searching. Yeah, and that might be here, but not wide
Okay, but that was at the Sundance music fills a film festival. Okay, the Sundance music. What am I doing today?
The Sundance film festival
Who needs sleep
Book club on DVD and blue ray this week this movie surprisingly enjoyable
Given that I'm a dude. Oh, that one. Okay, would die in Keaton. Jane Fonda in London. Oh, yeah, the cast. I mean Mary steam virgin Craig teen Nelson
Andy Garcia and one of my more favorite roles that he's done. I liked him a lot in this
Also, Alicia Silverstone
Katie Assletons in this from the league
Tag this week. I want to see this. Well, I mean you talk about
Polarizing. I know people that love this movie and I know people that hated this movie. I can see that I can
Really see that and I know Gen Rome's gonna have a delivery to her house this week because upgrade is this week
You need to see this movie. Are you serious about her having it? She said like we were reviewing it
She's like I've already pre-ordered diamonds on wow
This movie is you have to see this movie. Yeah, if you don't like this movie. I have
Judged your taste incorrectly for 22 years
I'm telling you like this movie is awesome
Definitely yeah, we did review we did review on it. Yeah, I was sitting in on it
It's just so good and it's so much fun
Uh, let's see also this week

But it'll be it'll be edited though, but still I mean, there's gonna show that I don't think I'm they might not edit it
You never know that's true, but it's on CNN just to let people know if they want to see it
CNN on Labor Day day and a movie that we missed at the Dallas
International Film Festival this year woman walks ahead with Jessica Stain
uh
Katherine Weldon a portrait painter from 1890s Brooklyn travels to Dakota to paint a portrait of sitting bull and becomes
embroiled in the Lakota people struggle over the rights to their land
effort really really good things about this
Uh, sear and hinds is in this Sam Rockwell's in this
I
Mean, it looks really good
Also freedom fighters the ray that was the animated deal that they did for the ray on on CW
American animals this week. This is another movie you need to see Don and I very much enjoyed this film
Is that the one you saw at the brewery? Yes, you need to check this out the the HBO alpichino paternal
paternal I was
I gotta tell you I was kind of you come on coach
I've put this way on American animals. Imagine a bank robbery or a robbery that I plan
And imagine the fact that again Don got through the whole thing and didn't leave the room
Wow that happened. I just got up to get a beer, but I didn't leave the room. That's what I'm saying
You did not leave the room. Yeah, and the criterion collection doesn't leave for the bathroom
I'd even do that and the criterion collection does memories of under development
I don't know what that is, but it's a criterion collection
Let's do just one quick tech talk. We're already in the music for that because we would be remiss
If we didn't talk about what happened this morning. Yes
19 tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. There was an active shooter
I don't know enough about the story because I haven't had a chance to do any research Chad
You tended to do more on this than I did
This was breaking like right before we were assembling for this show this this afternoon
But from what I gathered now it happened this morning because I heard it when I was up in Louisville
But the news was breaking like like an hour before you you sent out your text
but
Apparently four people have been killed
one suspect
Due to a self inflicted gunshot wound is down. I don't know if there are more
Rumors are swirling that it was a beef
Arrival re that that flared up during the tournament. I mean that's so worried worth things are going on
I am too. I was like I posted on Facebook
I'm so tired of seeing headlines like this
When are we gonna when are we gonna fix it because it's I don't think it's something that can be fixed
And it's it's sad that it's it's invading every single corner of our life music music last year video games this year
It's a movie so you gotta go back to what app aurora calrato. I mean it is just
So our our thoughts go out to everybody that's dealing with that in Jacksonville
Just and
It hurts and it just it just keeps hurting. It's it's a wound that never was an update of killing two people and sending 11 to the hospital
This was as per 741 pm central and that would have been about a half an hour ago. Yeah
So one from four to two. Yeah, okay, but I'm still I mean once too many because when they were I agree with you don't they reported the initial for it
They weren't clear as to whether or not the suspect was up was among those four. Yeah, okay, so
So I guess they've kind of clarified things a little bit
Like video games should be are like especially gathering to play video games. That should be our safe haven
Well, I mean, but it's already becoming or it's it's become kind of like when you hear about these these
Swat pranks that these gamers pull on each other during twitch streams and stuff is
Well now another thing for USA the days is three, but I mean it's yeah, it's probably gonna flood
Like you said don't one is one is one too many right so that's that's very very poignant sir
All right, gentlemen. Shall we get to the list? Yeah, so next week
Yeah, you have anything going on kind of something going on next week. You're busy. Okay, gonna be getting any rest if you believe it's time
Feel like we just did this nine months ago. Well, we do eight and a half months ago. Well, we did
It's time for who needs sleep 2018
One week from right now
It goes off the air wow
But that sink in
So for those of you that need a background
For who needs sleep I want to I want to give you because we've talked about this here and there
But I don't know that you've gotten the entire story
so
last November
friend of the show and
apparently
Sibling I was separated at birth from yeah, let's not call him a friend of the show. Let's call him my family member
My brother Devin Pike beat his second battle with throat cancer
Devin and I as you guys know
With me my look my livelihood is my vocal cords as is his
If you've been to I used to just say he's the Kevin Bacon of
Geek conventions and Dallas Fort Worth, but the dude's been all over the country. Yeah doing shows and interviewing doing panels
He was just in or Lando recently did a black lightning panther like my body panther black lightning panel
there, but sure
So he called me after he was in remission from
From the throat cancer and he said
The most dangerous thing a man can say to me of his stature
You should rob I have an idea
And I said go on you have my attention because Devin and I just you've helped out
We've done Saturday night shindigs for for cons don's been a part of some of the stuff that we've done
Actually miss doing and you know he knows
He says the word we are there. Mm-hmm. We live to serve
And Devin's the kind of guy that does not take adversity
Literally he doesn't take it long down
So he had this idea
And in five weeks we pulled together who need sleep 2017 we did it over
Uh
Drive before New Year's Eve. Mm-hmm. It was the 29th and 30th of December
and
We put together a 36 hour
Internet telephone
To raise money for two
local cancer research charities
One being cancer support communities north Texas
The other being cook children's cancer and Fort Worth
We raised $14,000 with auctions, raffle items
Don't just straight up donations from people and this was just us putting it together
And so at the end of it grab one of my cards would you please? Mm-hmm
Ted Price who runs vocal now studios over in Dallas a an amazing human being
This is a guy that I have a blast just talking to
Because Ted's just as techie probably more techie than I am mm-hmm, but Ted is saying something and he's an amazing human
He just is he's one of the most caring individuals you'll ever meet
And so we were wrapping up together and
He said hey, so I noticed that the the hashtag for this is
WNS 2017
What's 2018 live on air mm-hmm and Devon said all right you put me on the spot
Labor day weekend who needs sleep 2018
And we said all right here we go and for the record
I'm the only person I am Tony Stark and I will be defending my title
I am the iron man. I am the only person that stayed up all 36 hours
And I wear that like a badge on my sleeve
So back in about March-ish
I got the call
All right robber doing this thing they were day weekend you in
I said what do you think
So we started to meet and
Devon decided he wanted to be on the next level and he wanted who needs sleep to be a 501c3 charity. So we are a non-profit
And we are a charitable organization
Which led to the next part of this story
We were having a meeting of all of us who we do so we kind of just called ourselves the leadership staff
You know, we were the ones that you know, I'm always the stage manager
There were Devon does a show I stage manage for him and he once said in a post
Make no mistake when the show starts the stage belongs to him. I don't care what I say
And he's right
He's the reason that we know the general yes
So
He said here's the thing which is also a dangerous thing
I can hear that voice saying that too as part of being a 501c3 charity. We have to have a board of directors
Okay, now he is our executive director. It's his thing right
So he also introduced us to the Donna who we love the Donna is our vice president
The
The general is the secretary for the board directors
Uh Linda Becker who I am a huge fan of she is actually a survivor as well. She is our treasurer
Notice I've skipped one
We have members at large. Mm-hmm. I
Did not lobby for this
This was not something I even fathomed I would have attached to my name in this lifetime
But
Devon asked me to be the president of the board of directors
For this organization. I'm sure you're like I'm sorry. What'd you say?
I honestly didn't think it was going to be me. I thought it was going to be somebody else
But when you're in a room and somebody says that and everybody else in the room goes yeah on board
You just kind of roll with it. I was like okay like I was I was
Blown away and humbled by that
So I have these business cards that double as ninja stars
That say president of the board of directors of who need sleep and what I want to do is I want to read you our mission statement
We aren't doctors or nurses
We aren't licensed caregivers
What we are however are entertainers
writers
musicians
broadcasters artists
We will not be silent while others fight
We are committed to stand alongside the fighters as well as their families
We will keep doing so for as long as we are able we invite you to stand with us
Next weekend
September 1st 8 a.m
That train pulls out of the station
And make no mistake people
This is a freight train. Yeah, and it's gonna go I've seen it. I've seen it being loaded up
It's gonna go full throttle
Until Sunday night at 8 o'clock
We will be live the entire time there'll be I mean we have some pre-taped segments, but they're no longer than like seven or eight minutes
The majority that 98% of this will be live you will see it as it happens
I have to defend my title
I will be changing shirts every four hours just that we're clear. So watch out watch out for all the costume changes
So tonight's list and it's not even I'm not calling it a top 10
10 reasons to tune into who needs sleep 2018
First of all we're gonna be there
Alex will be with us general will be with us because general is gonna be there. She's on the board
This is true. We had such an amazing time last year the five of us
We only do in one hour of the show
So we're gonna there's another clubhouse podcast. They'll be handling the sports. We'll be handling the entertainment
Okay, it just works easier that way makes more sense um
The you know what the one thing I would just always go back to last year's show um because there's kids
It's the only time of the year that we're on camera
Think about that first of all because you remember we have the perfect faces for radio. Yes
But every time it would cut to dawn
He had his lunchbox sitting there on the count
And it was just we all knew it was there nobody said anything it was just there
Was that your 18 lunchbox or your no it was it was his it matched his he had his Steelers jersey
Oh, I'll always watch back. Yeah, it matched his Steelers jersey
You didn't bust out the little accident party because remember that was week 17 of the NFL
Okay, all right, that's true. Yeah, so this year we're going to right before week one of the NFL weekend
I was moving yes, that's why I missed all of this um
Grace these gonna be there this year
And I'm not saying anything publicly
But if you saw my post today
Whether you've ridden with us since day one or you're just now joining us this set Saturday night
You do not want to miss please tell me you're playing thank you Jesus. Oh, no, we are okay
We're playing one hour
After we get off air I could be convinced to tell you guys what's going on
Okay, but I'm not saying this publicly. Okay. This is this is a performance and not just because it's it's my band
This performance
Is going to be one of the best we've ever done
That's all I'm saying. Okay
Bad karma is gonna be there
Love me some chance chances my boy actually talked to him this past week. We got to spend some time together
I had to go pick up some equipment from his house now
We're going to be doing we have the interview loft like we had last year the bands are gonna be in Russ Martin's old studio
Okay, however for people in the main studio we're gonna have a projector setup
So what everything that's going on the other studios will be projected in the main studio as well. All right
Bad car. I can't wait to see I love I love when chance and a boys play a
Band called not your girlfriends will be there
Uh, they are produced by Jared from Boeing for soup
Nice the oldest member of the band is 13
Really there are three of them oh wow you might want to look them up
They've got one of the things they're famous for right now is the cover of Friday. I'm in love
That starts out a little wonky, but once it finds itself
I mean you listen you're like yeah Boeing for soup pretty much
Uh
I'm very excited to announce and this just happened yesterday
That one of the people instrumental in this show existing
Is going to tell his story big Don Ellison's going to be with us on Sunday afternoon
We say this show you mean this show the show that we're doing right now. Yes, not who needs sleep
But we've talked about we talk about big Don all the time and big Don is is going through his own
fight against the disease and
I can't I'd be like
I Facebook live the couple weeks ago
Don was so excited. He put his phone number on Facebook. That's right. Yeah, I was watching that feet
And I talked to him yesterday. I just hadn't had a chance to talk to him and I talked to him yesterday
He's like dude. I'm totally in what you need
That's so cool. He and his lady are actually going to get a hotel room over by the studios because they live out of town now
They're gonna come in get a hotel room. So they're gonna come in and out the whole time. Wow. He's committed
this dude
He is one of my favorite humans like you can't
Big Don's one of those people that like you can't be in a bad mood around him
He's just got such amazing energy and I can't wait for him to share some of his experiences
uh
The cosplay dance party
From one to four in the morning
Right after the girl that the female nerd roundtable which again, I can't wait to see the Don is gonna do an amazing job as she always does
uh
three hours
Of there's we're gonna have a DJ. I'm told there's going to be a laser show involved
I don't know for sure what's going on. I need your eyes work as the president. I don't have to know everything
I just have to know things are going to happen. I don't have to know the minutia. I've got people taking care of that
But and by the way, they do call me alhefe which is a little weird
Stable I told Dave that his son's not the only one that has that name in here. Yeah
um
But after the and this is kind of an auxiliary reason but did I tell you what's happening right after the cosplay dance party
You may have but go ahead. I know you know the name los bestardos. Yes, I do
They will be doing a three hour dungeons and dragons campaign
Oh for the love of god
I really tight with them. Well, Jason Bunch is one of our writers
Oh, we need sleep. Okay, and he's part of that troop. Mm-hmm
So I explain do you want to go in it? Do you want to explain who they are you go ahead?
They are the preeminent local shadow cast for rocky or they've been around for a long time
By the way, Angelica's doing that monthly now. Yeah, I saw that
so
I'm I'm so excited about that
It's going to be awesome and that's going to be from four to seven in the morning. Are they home basing there
Because for years los bestardos was home based at the heal and movie tavern and I don't I don't know if they're the ones doing it or not
I just know that they're going to be monthly. Okay, uh
We have awesome prizes raffles and auctions that'll be going on some through the whole time some for a very narrow time
go to hoonysleep.org. Click click on
auctions
There's certain things that you can just buy a raffle tickets for and we want to say thank you to dawn
He's donating he's already donated some stuff and he's donating more stuff. He's actually
think about done for it. I'm gonna say this
Because I can
That dude right there sitting across from me at this desk that dude is always on always
When that dude called me
From his anniversary dinner. Let's be clear on this
He and his lovely wife were having their anniversary dinner at the place. We had their rehearsal dinner
Chewies amazing big fan. Yeah
They taught me that taco cat is a palindrome
They taught you that that's I saw David T-shirt with it on they have a Chewies that looks like the Batman logo and I can't find it and I want it really bad
He called me and said so because we went there for the rehearsal dinner and the manager gave dawn
A dinner for two for them to come back on their anniversary. That's cool. Yeah
So done yeah being dawn
Because we give dawn grief, but don't like the guy that like we can give dawn grief. Yeah, you can't give dawn grief
Like if somebody comes in my boy sideways, they're gonna get a piece of meat. I don't want right
Because he knows that he's part of his family right even though sometimes he drives as crazy
He's still part of his family. That's part of being part of his family. Yeah
If you can there's none of us that can say at least one time we want to choke one of the other ones
It just doesn't happen. That's what makes this show work
But Don mentions who needs lead to the manager the manager says here's two more dinners for two throw it in a raffle
That's what I'm and we're raffling them separately. Yeah for four days. Yeah, we're raffling them separately
So we'll have two people that are gonna win those trips and I'm gonna do something that
In people don't if they knew me they'd really right here. Yeah, um
It's gonna be hard, but I'm taking down that risky business poster. I had since 97
And it's not just a risky business poster
It's an original make condition folded for mint, you know, because back in those days. Yeah, they came in like a flat envelope, right? Yeah
That Gary gave to me in 97. Mm-hmm. I've had framed on my wall since 97
Isn't there a signature on no. I thought there was no. No, it's just it's just from Gary though. We're gonna be auctioning that off. Yeah
Framed nice
I gotta take a minute here. Yeah
Do you like you too?
We gotta get we gotta get our signed by him that we're give that we're doing
By all of them. Uh-huh. Wow. Uh-huh. How did you never mind on it? We know people who know people I guess so
Do you like Hamilton?
I'm sure what if I could ever see it would you like to see it in Chicago?
That being kind of if you're the winning bid
We're gonna fly you and a guess on a plane because where should you fly?
And we're gonna put you up at a hotel in Chicago with mezzanine tickets for Hamilton. Nice. Do you like baseball?
Maybe we take you and a friend and we put you on a plane and we fly you to Chicago and you get to watch a game from the roof at rigley though next year
That's a that's a bucket list item for a lot of people. Do you enjoy the bourbon?
Maybe we take you and a guest and we put you on a plane and we fly you to Lexington, Kentucky and we send you on three not one not two three
bourbon distillery tours
This is all happening. Hey, yeah, I got stuff coming this week that I'm not gonna talk about till I get it in my hands
Because it's getting sent to me tomorrow that I could not I have a personal connection to that I could not be more excited about
And we're gonna be doing stuff all the way through the thing too like
You want to see us do something here's pledge 50 bucks and we'll do
Spin the wheel karaoke. We ain't scared of it. Yeah, I've got a question about don't one don't don't
Mean to be over I would do the bill just let this go. Yeah, because it's one of the things I'm dealing with right now. I kind of figured you were
Do you like Jurassic Park? I do quite a bit actually. Do you like speed racer?
And the original yeah, yeah
I know I should be asking this, but do you like Rick and Morty?
I
Personally, you've never watched an episode of Rick and Morty, so let me tell you what else is gonna be happening from two to five on Saturday
one of the
Most amazing people I know
Dave McDonough is bringing the Jurassic Park Jeep. Okay. All right another guy named Dave
Devon knows has a mock five
He is also built a replica of the Rick and Morty spaceship
We're gonna have him out there for three hours. Come get your picture with him. All the money goes to charity
That's kind of ironic because I'm pretty sure that a mock five has been in that parking lot before
And this one to this one is dope looking
I would put this up against that one
This one is dope looking but does it have Air Force one of the DVD player and the that I don't know I cannot confirm or tonight
So come down get your get your get your picture taken with the and all the money goes to the charity
We're not screwing around here people. Yeah
We're gonna shatter that 14,000. We're gonna have of the goal the goals bigger than that
We're gonna shatter that no doubt. We're having amazing guests that are gonna be on some in studio
Some be a Skype if you are a fan of local Dallas things
We're going to have people that you will know people that are legends in Dallas radio will be joining us
Dallas broadcasters will be joining us
Other podcasts that are hosted by vocal and others that are coming in
And then let's just talk about the most important reasons. It's the charity people. Yes exactly
None of us are getting paid for this. Let's be clear on this not a soul involved in this deal is getting paid
We do this because we believe in it. We do this because we want to see
Cancer be eradicated
We do this because one and you're never farther away from three people
That you're never farther away than three people from being affected by my old man passed away from it four years ago
My mom passed away from it seven years. Uh-huh
Cancer it will be the second leading common death cause in this year behind heart disease
So I don't care who you are you've been touched by this and
It's not my business to tell you
I
I'm fired up right now. I can tell
I'm just whether you can give a dollar
Or you can give a billion dollars
We want you to give
And then you compounded that because god knows Devin Pike is not indestructible. Oh my gosh
Yeah, I was one of you. He went through his own deal about three weeks ago where he was in a car accident
Broke six ribs cracked his jaw into places
Has had to have reconstructive surgery on his jaw and his jaw is wired shut
And you know he can't stay down. No, I need Bobby. He is your stay down Rick stay down
Like cancer tried to quiet him and that didn't work
So now this is trying to shut his mouth and that didn't work. So I texted him last week
I want to read you this text because
This dude and I are so much alike on so many levels
If you know me
You know that I am terrible
With compliments
Always have been
So I sent him a text last Sunday and I said good morning brother
Just wanted to send you some random love and thank you for having the level of trust faith and pride in our team that you do
I could not be happier to be asked to be a part much less on the level that you've asked me to
And I truly believe in the level of greatness we will achieve together
I love you brother constantly keeping you lifted up. Here's what his response was. Here's the deal
Had we not been building towards this for five
Years with all the various projects Bacon Samurai has pulled off. That's his production company. Right
I would be I would have completely suck as a producer and had this team not assembled and executed so far and continues to in this fashion
And that starts with you. You are the linchpin. You are the mouthpiece. You are the wave motion gun
Is that a halo reference?
gosh
You are my brother
dude
My response bows to his sense
We want you guys to be with us next weekend whether you tune in for five minutes whether you tune in for five
Hours whether you marathon this thing with me because I'm defending this title. I'm going 36 hours
What's up?
Because I've lost the reference. What is it?
That's the gun on the bow of the ship and star blazer. Oh, that's right. I will take that. Yeah, because I love me some star blazers
Was I knew is I knew it was a heavy geek pop culture reference. I'm like now. That's not halo. I got to look that one up
Now I know it's going to do a forehead slap when I saw it. We should do a forehead slap. I blame myself
This thing's going to be a thing and this isn't going away. No
I want to send a couple of shout outs
Shout out to errands rent to own an Irving. They're going to be supplying the furniture and the interview loft
Uh shout out cool move shout out to Chick-fil-A and Addison. They're going to be feeding our people lunch on Saturday
Uh shout out to free birds and Irving. They're going to be feeding us lunch on Sunday. Nice
Uh
Shout out to everybody that's contributed so far. We've got some amazing sponsors that are going to be a part of it
We're going to have comedians this year. There's a uh a group in Denton called Languages laughter
They are they are also a cancer charity. They're going to be coming and doing two different sets for us
This seems to be awesome. Yeah, it's it's I don't know how you're going to it 36 hours sounds like a long time
With that much going on that time's going to go by real quick and we're going to be giving you the hour by hour
Come be a part of the studio audience. We have two different
packages for you for 40 bucks. You get all access
You come and go as much as you want
For $15 you can come ah jeez. I want to say it's like from five to 11 on Saturday
If that's what most of the bands will play
And you're not going to want to miss the opening
We're going to do something to start this telecast
That if it doesn't hit you on an emotional level you have no soul
and
When the person that wanted to do what they wanted to do came to says it came to us and said I want to do the thing
I was like okay, hmm. Let's do this
It's oh daddy is about to go down
Like this is going to I mean this is what's gotten me through everything this month
Because I've been running like a chicken with his head cut off
juggling all the chainsaws on fumes and I live for it
I don't know how you do it. I really don't I because I quote the great the loss of for an American doing Johnson
Who pointed his arm forward flip that palm up and said let's go bring it
Because when you have a passion for something you never run out of gas ever that's true
That's very true and between my passion for my day job my passion for my band
My passion for this and my passion for the deal coming next weekend brother. I got all the energy in the world
Just conserve some of that
Oh, it's going to be safe some believe me. There's going to be a trip to the grocery store come Friday for energy drinks and soda
Because this nice 40-ounce Arctic is going to be full
We've got kids from Garvin high school that are gonna come help us out. I was good. I talked to them on Friday
like
They're excited good good. We talked to people this weekend and thank thank you mark Walters for letting us
Represent the charity at your comic book show this weekend. He's doing another show in November
He let us put our name on the Superman force screening
That was had with the guy that played nuclear man who did a live commentary
We watched the film and they did a lot of commentary for it
He also let us put our name on the costume contest nice, so thank you mark for that we greatly appreciate it and he gave us a table
So Linda was there all weekend passing out flyers and giving out
Business cards and telling people about the charity Matthew Warlick who did our official logo. He was there
He was a guest, so I got to go up and talk to him and thank him for what he's doing
He we're gonna do we're gonna do a different logo every year. Oh
Really? Okay, that's because he hears the thing I told the board
Enjoy labor day week
Because September 15th
We start planning who needs sleep 2019. I kind of figured as much
Because you know me. I don't do anything halfway. No, no, and you don't
Devin knew when he put when he put that title underneath my name on that card
He knew it was about to go down
The man has said it
And the board knows eight o'clock Saturday morning
I change hats now Shabbat boring two hats at the same time my president had at my stage manager hat
And
They're prepared
This group of people is ready and they are chomping at the bit. I hope they're ready. Oh, I know they are brother
The level of faith I have in these people
Is insane
Because they all have the same passion that I do
And when I told them that
They looked at me and they went okay good. I've already given them assignments to bring to that meeting
Dude, it's about to go down. I'm telling you last great as last year was
This one is going to raise the bar and we're gonna keep doing it. Oh sounds like by country mile
Who needs sleep dot org
Book market now because this isn't the only thing we're gonna be doing
We're gonna be doing stuff year round brother
Yeah, you're not just gonna hear from us in October. I mean in August
You're gonna hear from us in September and October and November and December and January and February and March and April in May
In June in July and August you are not gonna be able to get rid of us good
Because we have the people in place to make this thing huge
So join us next weekend
And
Because it's going to be
Amazing I'm looking forward to it and we've talked about this for 30 minutes and I don't care cuz I'll be talking about it all week
