The Clubhouse – Episode 52
Read Transcript
It is 701 on the East Coast, it is 401 on the West Coast, it is the 25th of June in the year
of our Lord 2017 season 7 episode 52, but not the season finale, 400 in two times this
voice has welcomed you to the clubhouse podcast, we're happy no matter how you listen,
whether you're live with us on the stream, whether you're checking us out on the archive,
or whether you subscribe on your favorite podcast app, we don't care how you listen, we're
just glad you do. My name is Rob, and we are down to the final week, and we're going to talk
about what I'm talking about here momentarily, because we've got a lot of people in this room
right now in the studio, joining me across the desk as he tends to do from time to time,
is my co-host, and a man who may or may not have gotten a haircut in the last week and a half,
I can either confirm or deny his chat, that would be a no. Okay, because when you first got here, I was
like, did he get a haircut? I need one, but let's do what I'm going to hold a little froy. I'm
going to check it myself. Next is him is the official fact checker of the show,
and a man who owns one half of our title for tonight's show. You may know I'm as fond on
go, but his mom and name him Don Ford, I'm going to call him Don Ford, welcome sir.
Howdy! Oh Lord, mercy on my soul. Next to him is one of our two very special guests tonight.
I said it on social media, and I did do the math correctly. We have two very special guests.
One is a guy. I have known longer than I've known chat. That is a true story.
He beats you by about a year, not by much. Okay, I can live with that. He is one of my favorite
people in the world, and a man who survived New Year's weekend with me. He has changed
to Monsterman. Welcome, sir. Talk right into that thing, sir, but he can hear you.
Thank you. There we go. Here we go. Yeah, I got to get that one. It's got to be a little bit
hotter. Behind him is our other special guest, and a man that's also going to get his own segment
part of his segment anyway. A guy that I've known longer than both of them. He is Jason B, and
he is here for a very special reason. We're going to talk about say hello, sir. Hello. And
rounding out the day as is the lady of the house. I think we've officially got the contract signed.
There were some legalities, the lawyers had to be put in a cage. Thunderdome was involved. It wasn't
pretty, but she is now. I guess we're just going to have to say clubhouse proper. Yeah, so
it's official. Gen Rome is officially clubhouse proper. Welcome, friend. Hello, and now I'm
out. It's official. It's in the record books. For those of you, please go back and listen last
week. So a week before last episode, we had our 400 steps. I cannot believe it. In this week,
we're going to hit 300 iTunes exclusives over 700 episodes of this show in almost seven years.
Season finale will be week after next for great balls. I can't believe we're still saying this
WWE great balls of fire. And now you're being sand and tone. We'll deal with that in two
weeks. We're going to save corrections and updates for next week because we're going to have to
talk about point updates and things like that in grading cards that weren't really that great to
begin with. But we're going to do some little different right now. So Don and I had a nice long talk
this past week. And tonight's episode is called the summer ban 44 preview and a major announcement.
Obviously summer ban 44 is not Don's part of the title. So we're going to let Don kind of take
this thing for a minute and make his special announcement that I will not spoil because it's his announcement.
Well, it's been referenced on this show a few times my lady friend Faith who you've met.
Well, she doesn't like. She's too scared to get out of the show. No, she didn't sing the
all I did. No, she didn't sing. No, she didn't. She didn't. She didn't. She didn't. She didn't. She didn't.
She didn't. She didn't. She didn't. Yeah, she's also flexible. And uh, due to you know,
we're just going to say for reasons that are needed and I'll believe it at that. As of last night,
I am officially off the market and I am engaged and that in reason being because you're in love and you want to
to send the rest of your life, but we're really, we're up in the date but still I love her and
see Don and Faith together, you don't doubt that he's not the most romantic in the wording department.
But yeah, but he's not a lexicon. Daniel still he is not.
Yeah, we have an issue, the date's going to be July 23rd, which is a Sunday, about five o'clock and I already talked a bit about the man who's going to be doing this wedding and the big one in a year from now.
Yeah, that's going to be.
That would be me.
I will be officiating this.
Okay.
This union.
Okay.
Do I dare use two words?
What's a Facebook live?
It's just called.
I think that would be the bride's call, we probably need to run it past her.
I'm just going to put it out.
I'm going to show tonight.
It's not a show night.
You'll see.
We got to grant content from somewhere.
Okay, so.
I mean, I've got news.
It'll be like season 8, episode 8-1 and we're taking a week off afterwards.
But, you know, it's going to be the 23rd, which is an idea of a WWE paper view.
But I'll bring it up to her because we got screening Tuesday, right?
Uh, the, uh, big-guiled.
You do.
You'll be doing that.
Okay.
All right.
We're going tomorrow.
Okay.
All right.
I want to do that one too.
But, uh, she'll be there Tuesday.
But that's on a paper.
Sorry.
Yeah.
I now bring it to you man and wife.
Bing, ding, ding, ding.
We are alive.
Oh, but yeah.
So congratulations.
Thank you for your time.
Yeah.
I've talked to, you know, you.
And, and rumors of a, a Ford family visit for this.
Yeah.
We've never met Don's family.
No, we haven't.
Oh, no.
There are many people that believe about Don's family.
Like, they believe about my wife.
Like, she does exist.
But nobody really believes that.
There.
People think that Don was growing in a lab.
Yeah.
But no, you're going to still think that.
My mom, my status.
There was radioactive news.
My sister, my dad and step mom.
And, uh, actually, possibly your her two brothers from England may be coming out.
Wow.
You'll think of her late with it.
Yeah.
And by the way, you're wife, a huge fan of the, of the future.
Uh, of the future is this Ford.
Yeah.
Yes.
And I think they reverse this all through.
Oh.
I just realized that they will be fake Ford.
I know.
I was thinking that.
Yeah.
But, uh, no.
Actually, we're saying F squared.
It's better.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Look at Rob.
I'd say no response to anything.
It's happening.
Just don't make her name.
Don't make her change her name to fantastic or something.
I'm a fake, dirty, Matthew Joep.
So that was cute.
And yeah, I like that.
Fantastic.
Faith Ford.
Thank you.
Let that on.
I blame you.
I blame you.
I blame you.
I blame you.
I didn't hear that.
That actually came from Chad.
Donald.
I, I for the record.
Do not do not.
Chain your name.
So, what's the big word with And we got to say.
Mozzel top.
Mozzel top.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
So.
All right, so I know I'm heading Song and give up.
My mic.
And.
And please give our best to Yor.
of our best to your new leapage row.
Toy on say, yes.
So, yeah, say that a bunch of times
because you gotta get used to saying,
say, if you want to say, if you want to say,
if you want to say, if you want to say, yes.
Well, you're not gonna have long to say it.
Yeah.
So, yeah, better half works.
Yeah.
But fiance, so.
All right.
All right, we love you.
Go do your things, sir.
All right, congratulations.
Yeah, thank you.
All right.
And now is if he's gonna come in and take that chair
or Chase is gonna take that chair
and see if he can take it.
So we're gonna, we're doing a little bit of a shuffle here.
So don't sit down and round your go.
All right.
So let's just go ahead and get in with two some NASCAR talk.
As little as we actually do on this show.
Today was your Toyota Save Mart 350 from Sonoma.
I can't help but get go there.
It's like wine and NASCAR.
Top 10 Finisher's Jamie McMurray.
Because I don't think wine.
I think NASCAR.
See, they don't give me the cool stuff
like where they started anymore.
Jamie McMurray in 10th, 9th goes to the stone himself,
Brian Blaney, Chase Elliott, attorney at law
in 8th, Kurt Busch in 7th.
Dale Earnhardt Jr gets the top 10 finish
in the sixth place, Kyle Busch in 5th,
Denny Hamlin in 4th, bronze medal goes to Brad Casalowski,
Clint Boyer in 2nd and Kevin Harvik wins the race today.
Let's see if we can get some point updates for you.
And this will, of course, points are always a week behind
because that's the way they're doing it this year.
So your odd men out right now are Ricky Stenhaus Jr
in Eric Jones.
They're right about 10 or 15 behind Ryan Hellow Newman.
Who is just a few points behind Kurt Busch,
I'm not doing math today.
The stone is in 13th, he's right behind Matt Kenseth.
Clint Boyer is in the 11th slot.
Starting in at the top 10, Joey like cannell
and Denny Moons over my Hamlin in 9th.
Jeremy Jamie McMurray in 8th, 6th time, 7th time, 7th time,
they were made 777, 7th time,
spring cup champion, Jimmy Johnson in 7th
or the monster in the year when they're calling it this week.
Chase Elliott in 6th, Brad Casalowski, 5, Kyle Busch in 4th,
Kevin Harvick in 3rd, 13 points right now
separate Martin Truex Jr and Kyle Larson.
So that's your board for this week,
actually through last week when they raised it,
me, she get next week.
And of course, is the holiday weekend.
So NASCAR is gonna be back in Daytona for the Coke Zero 400.
And you have a few days left
for the very special Rob's birthday
and we're gonna be talking about that here just a minute.
I'm just making sure they know to get on Amazon and place their order.
That's right, there is a wish list, Rob's year-round wish list.
Rob's out of an ATT on that, that's correct.
But that's gonna be a night race on Saturday at Daytona 730.
Daytona in the lights looks, that's a really cool looking track
when they lie to that bit night.
That's all I got on NASCAR because other than that,
I got nothing.
That's why we need barbed wire here.
Yeah, no keys are NASCAR corresponded.
We're totally lost.
So you got that going for you.
Let's get into some TV talk as we continue on
because we now got to play a little bit of ketchup here,
but I have no issue with that.
Another one of my wife's new favorite shows is no more
as ABC cancels downward dog.
This was like a show about,
like it's actually actually about a show
about a talking dog, I got nothing.
I thought it was about yoga,
so I was apparently wrong.
And then there was a little bit of hope for her last man's
standing, CMT was going to pick that up now, not doing so.
Oh, they just say not to?
No, they have not.
Alexis Blidell has been made a series regular
for season two of the Handmaiden's Tale on Netflix.
I heard good things, they made fun of it on Saturday night
live, that's what I got.
So would have you heard the title for Sharknado 5?
No.
Yes.
With it's tagline though.
Is the title again?
No, I think that was what the third one.
I think it was actually called that.
I think so.
This one is Sharknado 5 Earth Zero Global Swarming.
I mean, it just never watched a single one.
I've never watched a Shark Week at all.
And it's bad enough.
No, no, no, no, Shark Week in Sharknado
are not the same.
No, but they show them during the same time for it.
That's why they do this.
I tried five minutes of one once.
I just can't.
Like this dock, this is so up his alley.
Like I guarantee you, there will be a viewing of this
on bad movie night at Docs House that week.
Yeah, this is this is Doc's wheelhouse.
You know, and why are we doing this like,
we all know that Michael Phelps is not going to race
a shark in a pool.
Let's just put it out there.
He might.
You know what they're calling this like,
the great gold versus the great white.
It's just like, yeah.
Yep, there.
Oh, there it went.
But I will say.
Well, but I will say this, when you showed me,
if you guys seen the shark week commercial for this year,
it's sealed, doing a concert and he's singing
kiss from a rose and right in the middle of it,
he gets deep blue seed.
And the tag line is Shark Week is great for everyone
unless you're a seal.
I like you know what, it's still a bad way to be a seal.
I said first of all, why did it take this long?
Don't get it.
To get there.
Did Shark Week just actually jump the shark?
I do that to me that happened a long time ago.
I love that week.
I look forward to it.
We do have an official debut for Star Trek Discovery
September 24th on CBS All Access.
Apparently, like, they're the holdout.
CBS is the holdout for Direct TV now,
which I'm very interested in.
I'm getting a little more interested in it every day.
But you can't get CBS and you can't get showtime
because they're trying to make you do their thing.
So you tell me you want me to pay for the CBS app
and the showtime app, even though they're same company?
It doesn't make any sense to me.
But I'm telling you, as soon as Direct TV now
gets that DVR capability, that is happening.
Because I love everything about Direct TV now.
No dish, all streaming, doesn't eat any of my data.
And there's only a couple of channels that I'd be missing.
And is there anything that would break your heart?
It's weird because the way they're doing local channels,
because we're not going to get all of our local channels
for network.
But if you do the streaming, a bunch of the CBS CBS
of course has it streaming channel.
But you won't see, CBS will not be available
on Direct TV now.
But if you have a RUQ or something like that,
you can get through, I've got to say.
You can get their app, but you have to pay for it.
Separate, that's my thing.
That's why I don't understand what they're trying to do.
And this will fail.
Let's see, Pablo Picasso is going to be the subject
for season two of Genius on the Net Geo.
I've yet to watch the one, but I understand that thing.
You should have, I think, which really deep.
Colton Haynes is going to be joining American Horror Story
for season seven.
So you know, unlike other shows on other networks,
we are okay with a character going away and staying away.
I don't want to mention any names,
but their name is Agents of Shield.
Damon Lindeloff, some people like him.
Some people don't.
Some people like him because of his involvement
with Lost.
Some people despise him for what he did to Prometheus.
I understand both arguments.
He is currently talking to HBO about developing
a series based on Watchmen.
Now, it's well documented on this show, not a big fan.
I find the material to be incredibly dated.
And I visually, I thought Zack Snyder did an amazing job.
It's a beautiful looking film.
I just don't like the source material.
Not a huge fan.
It was in an alternate reality in 1985.
That is true.
I just, I don't know, this, this thing for me,
it'll, it'll do monster viewings.
The ratings will be through the roof.
But I just, I don't want them to go too far off the beaten path.
Well, if, if they keep the quality up in comparison
to Westworld and Game of Thrones, things of Israel.
Westworld, probably, of this TV season,
was the biggest surprise hit for me.
Because I went into Westworld very, you know what?
I'll check out an episode, maybe.
And that thing knocked me out.
Yeah, it sucks you in, like, almost immediately.
I think it would be a tie with that in taboo.
Taboo was phenomenal.
And I really fear for season two
because that season one was so strong.
You spend seven episodes going,
I have no idea what's going on here,
but I love every minute of it.
And then the payoff at the end, you're just like,
that's some of the most gangster stuff
I've ever seen on television in my entire life.
And it's Tom Hardy, I mean, come on, it's Tom Hardy.
All right, what else we got going on here?
My wife will be very happy.
I haven't told her yet, and if she hears it,
got bless her, she's in the next room.
Down Abby is going to get a film revival next year.
So, I don't think she's listening.
And, that was not her.
That was an actor playing her part.
And I know a lot of people, I am not one of these people
that are big fans of supernatural.
Yes.
They're doing a spin-off next year.
Called the Wayward Sisters.
They're going to be introduced this coming season.
And her.
Haven't they already done a spin-off from supernatural
that didn't quite work?
I keep thinking they did.
And it lasted like four episodes or something.
And if you could only last four episodes on the CW,
that's a problem.
Is that'll give anybody a whole C?
I'll have to look through that one.
I don't remember they're being a spin-off.
And if you're trying to CW, I'm saying them before,
and I say it again, if you haven't watched Riverdale,
get on it right now.
And I was going to say on the supernatural,
the Wayward Sisters, from what it looked like,
if you do watch the show, it's the two daughters
that live with the police chief who was on C and, of course,
I don't know the actual actresses' names.
But it's the two girls that have been rescued
and live with her, and it's them getting into being
supernatural fighters.
I believe that, I'll leave her correct on that
from what I remember reading.
And big Blue Ray release next month, sir.
I've filmed that I currently have on DVD,
and I will buy on Blue Ray.
Mask of the Fantasm, it's getting a Blue Ray release.
Oh, thank God.
So finally, I know, we had that at my theater
in high school, and I watched it like 140 times,
even though Gotham tried to ruin that character
for me this year.
Did it really?
That's basically what they turned Michael Chickalus into.
That is basically who his character was by the end of it.
I'm so relieved I've failed on that show.
It breaks my heart that I had to,
but I just couldn't put myself through.
You know my Batman bias won't have let me do it.
I tried so hard.
My Batman bias forced me to quit on it.
TV on DVD and Blue Ray this week, Power Rangers Dino Supercharge.
I don't know which iteration of the 19 that that is.
Season three of the strain, and they're about to start
their final season.
If it's not, I think it's this coming week.
The strain, the strain on FX.
Didn't that like just start like a couple of,
what is it like this is season four and this is their final season.
Okay, okay.
I'm putting this on there because I can.
The complete series, Blue Ray released this week
of the Rockford files.
No, that's sad for himself.
That one.
Booty, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo.
That was rocker files.
And prison break, both the complete series
and they're doing the event series that they just did.
Both hit Blue Ray this week.
So, you know what?
I'm surprised my wife did not watch the event series
because she really liked the original.
Did not care for this.
My wife got about two episodes in
and just kind of lost interest in it.
But you're getting another season of the X files.
They're going back to that.
Well again, I never watched it.
So.
I've been kind of regularity.
All right, you are listening to the clubhouse podcast.
We appreciate you doing so.
Wanna remind you because POI, I'm gonna be selfish this week
because I can't.
It is that time of year, sir.
We are a near four days away from the kickoff
of summer, bam, 30, not 30 anymore.
44 weekend.
So, bye.
Oh, gonna be a big one that you're,
I'm actually in town.
I was out of town last year at my 25 year high school reunion.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
That's why we didn't do it last year.
But it's, we're gonna talk about a little bit of it
and then we're gonna talk a little bit more about it later
because they kick off involves one of our guests
in the studio tonight.
And we're gonna talk about that in movie talk.
Cause that's gonna be Thursday night.
All right.
Friday night, we haven't set the time or the theater yet.
I would say there's a greater than zero chance
that it'll be North Park.
I need to talk to Charlotte
because we are going to see despicable meet three.
All right.
So if you want to join us, you're more than welcome to do that.
Saturday, during the day,
I am gonna be over here at the Mesquite Convention Center.
There's a Lego convention in town next weekend.
And so I wanna go check that.
I'm hoping that my niece can join me.
I haven't had chance to talk to my brother in law
but she's a huge Lego fan.
And then Saturday night, we'll be partying out
with barbed wire, out at his place.
I'm hoping there might be some cards against two
manity involved because they've started
to get into that game.
So I do love me some cards against humanity.
And then Sunday night, next Sunday night,
we will not be on air because this is my actual birthday.
So I'm taking a PTO day from the show.
But we are all gonna be for Ragnarok 2017.
If you don't know what that is,
that's myself in Devon Pike and Clay Harrison.
Now, there's like 17 people.
Yeah, there's like 17 of us that all have birthdays
in the next 10 to 15 days.
We're combining arts parties.
We're gonna be at free play in Arlington,
which is right off of 30 in the UTA area.
Chan says he's coming.
Basically, here's what you need to know.
You pay 10 bucks to get in.
And it's all old school video games
and there are original cabinets.
There's craft beers available to you for purchase.
There's food.
We're gonna be there at six.
I thought I'm not mistaken.
The official start time is six.
Show when it's gonna be out for you.
And we're gonna go till we're done.
And because a lot of people aren't gonna be working the next day
because the holidays on Tuesday
and I really drives me nuts on holidays on Tuesday,
like that.
But I'll be working from home on the third.
So, Robert, they've done free play it.
I've been to the one in Richardson.
I'm a huge fan.
Yeah, it's ridiculous because I just went not too long ago
and you think about the amount of money
as a child that you spent putting into these games.
Yeah, for the price of one roll of quarters.
One roll of quarters.
We finished Smash TV the other night
and it would have been easily $50 worth of money.
Yeah, I went on a New Year's Eve
and me and one of the other young ladies there
did the shooter zombie game.
How's the dead?
Yeah, how's the dead?
And I haven't played that in years.
And there was like a line and we kept saying,
we'll stop there.
No, we're having fun watching the two of you
because we're just giggling and laughing
and having fun playing.
And apparently it was rather entertaining.
And that's one of the fun things is people don't get mad.
They do share.
They do give turns.
They are aware of others around them.
But everybody starts supporting everybody
because it's not a competition that you're going to lose your quarter.
Exactly.
And that's the beauty of it.
It's people are respectful there.
And when I say it's not like you're going up
and you're playing a meme.
Like you're walking up to the actual cabin
that you played a 1983 and you're playing.
And it's, again, it's called free play
because it's all on free play.
You don't have to buy any more quarters.
Once you get in, that's, that's the church.
You're ready to go.
And we're all big fans of these things.
And they have pinball games.
And they feature some of the, the cabinet table top games
that you had at, like, he's on the side.
Yeah, I'm speaking of the things of its ill.
I don't know if you guys saw.
I don't know if you saw.
But right over here by the studio,
they're opening a gatties.
Uh-huh.
They're opening a gatties right here in Mesquite.
And I saw the other day and I was like,
we did a live, we did a live, we did a live.
We'd be amazed if I saw that.
That would be a major day.
We went to read it.
I think that's how it is.
Yep, that is happening.
But come join us at any of these events.
One of the things I do ask on my actual birthday,
if you just do one day a year to do this,
is take that day and don't say anything negative
on social media.
That's what I ask people to do.
If you want to bring gifts, God bless you.
But in lieu of that, just make a commitment
that you know what, I'm not going to do any
complaining on social media for one day.
Because it's just gotten to be such a nightmare of a thing
to read through Facebook and Twitter and Instagram
sometimes.
So I'll break the good.
Rebuke the bad for one day.
Take it back to what it used to be.
Exactly.
Let's have some fun.
If you want more information,
you can email me Rob.urvenetat.net
or just from a Rob at the clubhousepodcast.com.
It's going to be a catalogue of stars.
We're going to have a great time looking forward
to seeing everybody that I haven't gotten to see
in some of our conference or coming into town.
D&D are supposed to be here.
Chance knows them very well.
So we're hoping to see them.
I've got a people from all over the Metroplex
who are like, dude, I'm coming.
So we're looking forward to seeing everybody come hang out
with us.
We're going to be, you can drink all, drink, do you?
I don't drink, sorry.
I'm not going to be doing that.
But you drink water.
I do.
So I'll be some sodas involved.
And there's some great food there, too.
Is there going to be Diet Coke?
Get there.
I'm going to tell him D.
D. Take note, then we'll call a head and make sure
to his diet Coke.
So, if we flip somebody, if they know that.
That is what we're doing.
So join us for that.
We'll be, it's all over social media.
We're going to be doing all this stuff real real soon.
So now that I've done that, I've done my shameless self
promotion.
Let's get into some MLB talk.
We go straight to some standings in the American League
East, the Toronto Blue Jays.
It sucks to be three games below 500
and still five games of first play.
Oh, my lord.
They're at game behind Baltimore.
Baltimore's a game in a half back on my pseudo
beloved devil rays.
And they're two and a half games back.
Boston and the Yankees now tied.
Yankees are two and eight and they're last 10.
So Boston's caught up to them, but the Yankees have a tie break.
In the AL Central, if I can get this scrolling to work
on this computer because of this stupid framing,
let's see, the Detroit Tigers, 10 games below 507
and a half back there are tied with the white socks.
And they are both five games behind Kansas City,
Kansas City's two games back on Cleveland.
The Indians are now a half game back on,
let me just say this really clearly,
the AL Central Leading Minnesota twins
that I wake up in 1992.
So you got that going for you.
Oh, by the way, your Rangers beat the Yankees today.
Now, about there in the middle of the series.
The end was at the finale of their journey.
I guess usually those things will be a Friday,
Saturday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
And in the AL West, the Oakland A's, 34 and 42,
they are 17 games back in that division.
They are only four and a half back on law.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles County,
California, America, North America, Earth Milky Way.
They are tied with Seattle.
Gore also tied with your Rangers.
We have a three-way tie for second in the division,
which is the good news.
None of the bad news?
I don't know, do I?
You're all 12 and a half back on Houston.
I'm still not used to saying American League
and Houston Astros in this thing.
I don't know if I ever will.
I can't, I can't do it.
You guys are more than welcome to talk up anytime you want to.
Just say, yeah, we don't keep it down over there.
We can get a freaking word in.
Let's go to the National League in the West,
the San Francisco Giants who haven't been,
haven't they been America's favorite game show?
The Giants?
Is it the Giants this year?
It's the Giants today.
Say, okay, okay, okay.
Oh, no, it's not.
It's the Padre's.
The Padre's are America's favorite game show.
Okay.
The San Francisco is 23 and a half back.
Let me reiterate that it is June the 25th
and the Padre's are 23 and a half back.
And they're still only six back on the Padre's.
The Padre's 15 games back on Colorado.
Colorado's game back on Arizona and they're two and a half back
on Misty's beloved Dodgers in the NL Central.
The Cincinnati Reds there, 12 games back
and 12 games will have 500 or eight games
out of first place.
They're two and eight in their last 10.
They are two and a half back of John's beloved Cardinals.
The Cardinals are a game back on Don's beloved Pirates.
The Pirates, three back on the Cubs.
And again, we say it again this week, sir.
The A.L Central, or the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers.
We are living in a parallel, you know.
The team who at one time was a huge conflict of interest
in a major league baseball.
And now it's good to the one division that matters.
The National League East.
You'll be glad to know that Philly's still in last place.
They're 20 games back.
So any time, I know you're big on Philly failure in general.
Usually.
They're eight and a half games back on the Mets.
The Mets are free falling right now.
They are a game back on my beloved Marlins.
My beloved Marlins are a game and a half back on my beloved
Braves.
But the Braves are still nine back on Washington.
But we're right about that time
where Washington starts the meltdown.
So I'm still holding on to hope
because they're pitching just terrible.
Remember why I said how 20 Cornheiser referred to it a couple of weeks ago?
If, well, how did you put it?
If a train wreck in a dumpster fire had a baby.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It would be the National League.
The National League.
All right.
So let's play America's favorite game show.
Gentlemen, you're welcome to play.
It's a very easy to play.
It is called, what is the run differential
for the San Diego Padres?
Yay.
Here's how it works.
You're going to take the number of runs,
the podries of scored versus the number of runs,
the podries have given up.
Now, when I say that there is a subject,
it means they're the worst in the sport.
I will tell you that.
So Chad, what is the run differential
for the San Diego Padres?
112.
That's a minus 112.
Chance.
I'll go 113, Bob.
All right.
Zippy, 115, all right.
Nine of 128.
We do play, prices right rules.
If I were Drew Carey,
I would have to give Chad $1,000 right now
because he nailed it at a minus 112.
Well, play, sir.
Thank you.
So that's how we do it.
And it's that simple.
All right.
So let's move on because nobody else is in season.
That's so depressing.
We're almost a football.
We're almost a football.
You have to give time when the weather's nice
for people to be hanging out with their family.
And if they're sporting events,
they're not necessarily hanging out with their families.
But have you seen that there's already been an injury
in this three on three basketball league?
They just started, I think, today.
And they've already got an injury.
It's because everybody in that league's like 80.
And it's just, I don't know.
And like they're all getting paid like a million bucks
or something for this thing.
Yeah.
OK, then maybe it's worth kidding.
I see him.
He's an owner of one of the teams.
It's very strange.
Like in the world.
It's this three on three basketball league
that they're doing with a bunch of these legends.
It's very strange.
And it's all literally three on three basketball.
So it's like NBA Champion for a real with an extra player.
Kind of sort of.
I mean, I'm telling you, ice cube owns a team.
Alan Iverson, I believe, is on a team and owns a team.
Uh, that's a train wreck.
But you know what they don't do?
Practice.
All right, let's do music talk.
Shelby, I know chance knows about this.
So this is not going to be a big shock to him
because he's the one that originally alerted.
Need to it.
But if you have not circled September 15th on your calendar,
you need to because concrete and gold hit stores
that is your new album from food fighters.
Oh, really?
There is a track list.
I don't know why.
Why would you release a track list?
Nobody knows what the songs are going to be.
Now, weren't they supposed to do a second season of Sonic
Highways?
Yes, they were supposed to come out.
They kept talking about it.
And then they were going to go to Europe.
But you've got on and was talking about how they were having
some issues trying to figure what they're going to.
But they, yes, they were supposed to go to London in Ireland
and all of that stuff.
I love that story so much.
It was such a fantastic series.
I don't know why.
But I think it's still in the works.
They put it on hiatus after they did their little mini break
up, not break up.
But you know, we were on a break, we were on a break.
So the tour is going to start October the 14th and Richmond
Virginia after their headlining the Cal Jam 17 festival
to break the leg tour, isn't it?
Yes, pretty much.
Yeah.
But I don't know, I did not see any Texas dates.
No, at first glance.
I think I saw someone post the other day.
It might have been our friends in Oklahoma.
I think they're going to Oklahoma as the closest they're getting
here.
Taking road trip.
So are we going to road trip up to go visit our friends?
I'm thinking because I've never gotten to see them live.
And they're one of those bands that's on my band bucket list
because I'm such a fan of Dave Grohl, if nothing else.
And their drummer looks like edge.
It's very strange.
I will say this about Sonic Highways.
They did something.
And I guess this is normal in the industry.
And I would have never thought of it when they were in.
I want to say it was in there or in either New York or LA
where Grohl and Taylor were both doing the drum track.
But Taylor was playing everything but the symbols
and Grohl was doing that in a different room.
I'm like, first of all, it's genius.
And I can't believe I've never seen somebody do that.
But I think that was brilliant from a recording standpoint.
It's just you isolate everything.
I was, and this, I bought the blue rice
because I love that so much.
And Gary Clark Jr was in the Austin one was great.
The Chicago one was great.
The Washington D.C. one with the bad brains was great.
All of it.
Chicago, LA, every episode was epic.
And by the way, we're going to be in Arizona.
Joe Walsh is going to come by, play for a minute.
Sure.
Why not?
I love the New York episode where they ran into that little kid
outside and they brought an end to the studio
and I'm like, my brain would be, I'd be done.
I'd be like, just watch HBO next week.
You might see something kind of cool.
American Idol wants Lionel Richie as a judge.
Hello.
And they really do this.
This thing is one such judge.
Dumps their fire to begin with.
I thought it was just Nicole through his name in the mix
because no, the headline I have is they want him.
Oh, OK.
OK.
I thought it was just that she was trying to get him involved.
And Nicole, Ritu, was trying to get him involved.
I'm still confused why they brought the show back.
I'm a different network.
Yeah.
But why?
Because people need name recognition.
And I won't watch.
After Scottie Mercury 1, I was out.
That day is when I said this thing's rigged I'm done.
I was out before the first episode pleaded.
I just, ah, this whole thing, this whole bit.
Like can't we just do new stuff?
Please.
It's all I'm saying.
Just give me something new.
Music, new releases in places you get music, new releases,
this week.
Calvin Harris comes back with funk wave bounces volume 1.
Didn't realize there was a series involved there.
Dol drums with escape spelled like the key on your keyboard.
Jay Z with a brand new album called 444.
Don't know how we're getting a new TLC album,
but we are entitled Oddly Enough TLC.
And Stone Sour with a brand new album this week
called Hydrograd.
Oh, you mean Nickelback Lite?
According to Chad Kruger, they are.
I am unabashed on a bashedly a fan of Nickelback.
I'm going to see them next month when they come to town.
I've always said you can't,
it's kind of lame to be a fan of death leopard
and hate Nickelback because they're the same band
in different eras.
It's party rock and the difference is Nickelback's lyrics
makes sense.
I can't say what Chad Kruger on this.
I have to distance.
Come on, dude.
I mean, sometimes you gotta cut back on the drinking.
That's all I'm saying.
His face does look kind of like a foot though.
It does.
I will agree with that.
Especially after the work.
I mean, Nickelback's kind of fun to drive to.
Yeah, I mean, I like the band.
And I'm, I'm unapologetic about that.
And I take a lot of grief from people.
They're a party band.
They know what's what they are and that's what they do.
They're not trying to save the world,
but Chad Kruger really has to shut up.
Sometimes I'm not helping dude.
Not helping.
Who was it that I was?
Did he bag on in that interview?
Slip not.
Well, yeah, it's because he was bag on Cory
but he had to put masks on because the music's not that good, dude.
This is me backing away with my hands.
Walk it back.
Yeah, I can't do it.
That argument is invalid because if you look at someone
like the guerrillas that do animated and their music's amazing.
They just released a new album.
Oh, humans, and it was fantastic, by the way.
Don't they have a TV show that they're doing it?
They're actually starting the animators are going to do an
eight episode run.
I can't remember where it's going to be on, but they're definitely
it's something.
Yep.
Chad, you're a fan of the guerrillas, aren't you?
Yeah, they're not really my scene.
I mean, I respect them.
I thought you kind of did their stuff.
No, I've never gotten into them.
It's not that I'd just like them.
I just never really did that.
Fair enough.
All right.
They're not prints.
He's not doing it.
No, dude, that bus has got your name on it, bro.
Thanks.
This prints is all I've done.
But we did.
We were at that show last week and I'm going to tell you something.
Oh my god.
Dear Heavenly Father.
Sweet baby Jesus in line in the manger.
All me can mild, still I'm nippotent.
I'm telling you, see, Hans, it's one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Yeah.
It was, I heard a lot of people tell me that for 20 bucks.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh, that was all.
Four seats were $20.
Well, floor floor.
Well, but it's general admission.
Yeah.
I mean, it's house of blues.
First of all, perfect venue.
I still thought it was a little small for them.
But perfect venue.
It felt like we were our own first to have a new four evening.
Secondly.
I've got it for that.
You sure.
We talked about who Chad and I just finally got to talk about this last night
because we haven't seen each other since the show.
They started the show with computer blue.
Wow.
Which I thought was a bold choice.
But it worked.
It makes perfect sense with Wendy.
Right.
Shall we begin and we're off to the races.
They did, they didn't do a lot of deep cuts, which I respected.
Because you had a lot of casual hands in the room.
They did every song off a purple rain except Nikki.
But they also did mountains.
So there's a balance there.
But I really, really was impressed by.
And I still don't think we have an answer on this.
I don't know if there's just not used to the love or if it was the, because that crowd
was hot.
That crowd was on fire, new everywhere, even to the deep cuts, new everywhere to every
song.
I don't know if it was just that or if it was that crowd.
But there was a genuine sense of awe that came from the band as they wrapped up the
show.
And when you can, I mean, it was palpable in the room.
Like it really looked like Wendy was about to cry at the end of it.
And I was, I was impressed.
I mean, you think about how long it had been since Prince played in this town.
I mean, musicology.
Yes.
And oh, four.
Yeah.
You were there.
That was when you and Megan went through that.
Right.
And I mean, we were starving for something.
And then when what happened last year happened.
And the realization that we're never going to have anything like this again.
And then this rolls around.
It was, it was a godsend.
And they rotated the vocals around.
Probably just say four or five songs, stokely from mint condition came out and he did
vocals.
He did all the false set of stuff.
And he did a great job.
Yeah.
He did.
He really did a great job.
A lot of good crowd work from him too.
Yeah.
Well, base player call this often a couple of times.
Yeah.
Brown mark actually.
Is that how you do it often?
Well, remember when he said, remember after Robotic City, he said that he said Austin
sounds like it's a, it's a funky city.
And I don't think anybody caught it the first time.
The second time, the whole room caught it.
He's called it out.
He became that one.
He get away.
Everybody started chaining Dallas.
Dallas.
I just, I kind of wanted to go do just fight through it and go in a minute.
But they sounded just like, I mean, you could have closed your eyes and could have sworn
it was 1983.
Like it was that solid.
It was scary.
It was like, it was impressive.
I was so lost in the moment, like, there were times where I just completely got transported.
Like, people asking the next day, how was it like, I'm like, I felt like I was 15 again.
I'm glad you got that memory.
That's important.
That's important.
Here are the two of you talk about this in a C Chad space.
In that room.
I mean, they could have done a larger venue.
But I'm glad it was.
Yeah.
And the thing that was the real icing on the cake for me was that I never got to see the
revolution live.
I guess tour was love sexy.
Right.
I got dragged out of him dismantled by it.
Yeah.
I got dragged out of town kicking and screaming in 84 when the purple rain tour came
to town.
So I missed it.
That was my one and only opportunity to see the revolution live.
So everything is either been the love sexy sound of the times touring bands or some
iteration of the NPG and never got to see the revolution.
So this was like a childhood dream come true.
These were.
And no opening act.
No.
Those lights went down and here we went.
And that's the way this needed to be.
There's I mean, there's nobody that can open for this.
And again, well, other than the mother time.
Yeah.
God.
God.
I would have been a puddle on the floor if they had come strolling out.
Hallelujah.
Oh.
I'm done.
I'm done.
I'm done.
I can't.
I just can't.
Yeah.
No.
And to have it be a somewhat intimate for intimate or something like this can be that was the right
move.
At one point, the entire band, but Wendy and Lisa left the stage and that's when they did sometimes
it's nose and April, front of the show Devon Pike said he was in tears at that point.
And there were people around me that were trying to record it and they're like,
I can't even hold my phone up because I'm losing it.
That's the hardest I've cried since he died probably was when they did that was she couldn't
get through it.
Yeah.
She struggled all the way through it.
Oh, the hairs on my arm were standing and when they did purple rain, she screwed
up a line in the second verse and that didn't set up just like fighting through it.
She just kind of owned it.
He's at the end of the verse.
She was like, just ignore what you just heard.
And she just kept pulling.
She hit that solo though when I was gone.
Oh, dude, she destroyed that solo dude.
Every one of the solo she played that he played spot on every time.
The only thing that was missing for me was the other voice of the other guitar in the
computer blue father song segment.
I'm like, you're waiting for that call and response and it wasn't there.
And I'm almost thinking that that was kind of intentional.
She didn't try to double up.
She just said, yeah, this is where he would go.
Yeah.
What a great show.
Yeah.
500 miles of you go and you're we were talking in free show.
How you've talked to people that are like, oh, I'll catch it when it comes back
around.
Don't even.
Yeah.
Don't even.
It may not.
Yeah.
You may not get another chance.
This may be it.
I hope not.
I would like to see more come of this, but again, 20 bucks for floor seats, man.
It was remember we were there.
It was actually a live DVD of it to be well, there's there's clips all over social
media.
I mean, there were points where I was a little annoyed, I was like, can you please
put your phone down.
So I can watch the concert because I'm sort of watching.
I'm calling Chad hosting a watch party of the DVD coming out.
Oh, yeah.
That was just a just throw on you under that bus.
All right.
Okay.
So let's talk about one of the reasons you called tonight.
First of all, let me just say, chances come from the other side of town to be here.
This is not like right down the street for him.
So we appreciate you first of all being here, sir.
Thank you for having me.
We've this has been a seven year journey that's finally paying off.
Again, chance, and I have known each other for decades, literally decades.
It's going to be almost two, I think, though.
We're right at 90 was 97, 98, somewhere.
97.
And music, big part of both of our lives is how we met a chance as a lead singer of a band
called Bad Karma who we got a chance to work with on New Year's Eve.
And I've worked with the guys before all great guys, big fans of everybody in the band.
But chance has a specific reason for being here.
And sir, I'm going to let you take it because I've got it cut up.
I just have to do a couple things where you're talking.
No, no, no problem.
I appreciate it.
No, well, it's really cool.
First of all, thank you guys for having me out here.
There's been a lot of really great things that have been happening over the last month.
But the band's been kind of taken a break to be honest with you since New Year's.
And a lot of that had to do with various things.
One we needed to break, because that show wore me out.
Life happens.
Life happens.
And they're all very good guys.
And they're all very class-ax.
What happened was, is that as all things happen, is that everyone's kind of got their own
thing going on.
And we just kind of fell off.
And we're going to do some more stuff here coming up, probably at the end of the summer.
We've got some acoustic gigs lined up for whatnot.
But over the like the last 30 days, I've been working on this side project and the side
project is me.
I've got original music I've put out before out on iTunes and done different things.
But I got a wild hair about a month ago.
I don't know what it was.
And Chad and I were talking about it, because a lot of people are going to say, oh, this
must be a tribute of some kind or whatever, but for the first time ever, I recorded a
cover song.
And I could have picked a lot of different songs.
I don't know why.
But basically what happened was, is that right after Chris Cornell's passing, I started listening
to the entire catalogs.
I listen to everything.
I was going through his acoustic stuff, I've covered songs, I was listening to all
a sound garden, I was going back to the temple of the dog, I was listening to all my audio
slave stuff.
Well, you know, my band, Bad Carme, as a cover band, we have been for the last 15
years, and that's what we're doing.
I did a good cover band.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate that, sir.
Thank you.
Always enjoy listening to you guys.
And one of the songs we used to cover was like a stone off of audio slave.
And it's one of those songs that was just awesome.
I loved it.
And I was listening to it.
And I thought to myself, why doesn't my band play this song anymore?
What's going on?
I can sing the crap out of this song.
And we don't play it.
What's happening?
So I just picked up the guitar and started learning how to play.
As a matter of fact, I faced book-lived it about a month ago.
And I got a few likes in here and there, and I was really just trying to work it out.
And then three days later, I recorded it.
And then a really good friend of mine named Chris Responte, who's an incredible guitarist,
I wish I could play guitar like he does.
He's traveled around and he's a session player.
He's also an engineer.
He's in the music business.
He does all of that.
And he said, hey, shoot me over the tracks.
And I'll go ahead and mix and master that for you.
I'm like, uh, really?
Okay.
In a word.
You sure?
Sure.
It's good to have friends with talent.
It is.
And he did a little bit of magic in Senate back to me.
Listen to it.
And I was, I was just floored.
So I started looking around figuring out, you know, I really want people to hear this.
I think it's something that's not only powerful in a message.
It was something I really wanted to do and put a lot of heart and soul into.
And I, I just wanted to share it.
I don't care if anyone necessarily goes out and makes this a big thing.
This was really a personal thing for me.
And from front to end, I said, I'm going to do it.
I got it done.
I got the mechanical license for it.
I got the distribution rights.
I put it out.
So it's really, it's more of an accomplishment than it is anything else.
And whatever happens for me or happens, I'm just really proud of the work and I hope
everybody enjoys it.
And I've got it cut up.
I'm using the YouTube link for it.
That doesn't have the actual video.
It's just got your, the cover that you have for it.
Speaking of YouTube link.
I'll go ahead and say this because after this show, this link that you have is unlisted.
There's actually a music video that's the second part of this that I did and I created
the video.
I did everything on it and it's going to go live after the show.
That's one of the exclusives.
And then after the other thing too, if anyone's chiming in, I know that you've got the
social media side where people can chime in pretty much the next 20 people that should
as shoot me or email, I'll send you a copy of this song.
And it's, I've already heard it because, you know, I know a dude.
It's, I really dug what you did with it.
And I could talk about it all day, but then people wouldn't get to experience it.
So I've got it queued up and this is from, this is it right here.
And I'm going to mute the mic.
So just guys, let you guys kind of just take this in.
All the car will have to new in a room full of emptiness by freeway.
I confess I was lost in the edge of a boat full of down reading how will I love, if
we'll go, we'll later rest, anywhere we want to go, and your house, I don't do
it.
No my death then, I will pray to the gods and the angels like a pagan to anyone who
will take me to have a home to a place I recall, I was there so long ago the sky was
closed, the wild was clear, and there you led me home, and your house, I don't do it to me.
Oh, I won't be shaking, I'll wait for you there, now I can't stop, I'll wait for you there,
And all I wrote to the day was gone, and a sad and regret of all the things I've done.
I've done for all that I've best
All that I've wrong
In dreams until my death
I will hold her home
And your house alone to me
Run by road
There should be
I'll wait for you there
I know I'll snow
Now wait for you there
Oh no
There you have it
I want to say that we broke premier debt
Did we not? I think we did
All right
That is amazing sir
Thank you

Because the video really compliments the mood of the song
I think really really well
That you did it in a way that
That keeps it simple
And it's to the point and you didn't try to trick it up
But I thought that was really really cool
Thank you

No streaming side out there
And you definitely when you do the search
Because I saw it on iTunes
Do it like a stone and then put chances
Name on it because otherwise
We're going to get 19 other versions of it
Or you even get to his
And that's the only one you want anyway
Because you should already have the original
Because if you don't you're communist
All right
And as we were talking about
Chris Cornell of course
That's going to put us right into our
program segment
Couple of of in this week
Stephen 1st
We lost another animal house
Cas member this past week
It's 63
Founder
I did not
Yes
I didn't see that one
And it was diabetes
I do believe
So I am pre-diabetic myself
So I tried to watch what it
Eat as much as I can
I still have gained an
Olson twins since I moved to Texas
And I am working on that
But
Just another one
We're not getting any younger
So no, you know I mean
For those of you that don't know
Because you know he even within the
The spin-off series that they did
Delta House
Was he really?
Yes he was
He was a flounder
And he was also a regular
On St. Elsewhere
Played Dr. Elliot Axelrod
And then he was also on
Babylon 5 for five seasons
Thing of her cotto
He also one of my favorite movies
One of my favorite
Guilty Pleasure movies
And this was one of those
That HPO played in like a loop
For about a year and a half
Early in his career
It was a Michael J. Fox movie called
Midnight Madness
Do you remember this?
Oh God he was in that
Oh wow
I love that
He was in that
Oh gosh yeah
I remember that was like a scavenger
Hunt that was over
Spread all over
California
He also co-starred with Chuck Norris
And Silent Rage in 1982
He survived the bus
And he was also in the dream team
With
Wasn't that Michael Keaton?
That was in that
Yeah, which is the advertising
Was that the advertising one?
No, no, you're thinking of
That was doubly more
The advertising one
Because I quoted all the time
Because I say Volvo
It's boxy, but it's good
That was with yeah
Okay, what was something
Did he Michael Keaton work as an ad
He didn't get any information
Some people
Okay, that's what it is
I'm combining way too many movies
He worked while he was working
For acting jobs in 1970
He was a pizza delivery driver
And he would include his headshot
In the pizza boxes
Until somebody would
Could catch him in cats
And that's the truth
I heard that the airplanes
They were going to go play
Let's see
You can't get away with that now
But that's amazing
I forgot about that
Remember the video for twisted sisters
I want to rock
He was the chair
He is the old boy
This is great
That was him
Let's see
What else did you read?
He was also he was in the day after
Oh god
He also was in the episode of chips
Oh my god
He was the character fanboy
What?
Was he really?
What?
So I mean
He was one of those guys
But another one this week
That I'm going to say this name
And you're probably going to go
What?
If I say the name
Henry J. Ducendorf
The second
What?
Exactly
He was one of the twins
That played baby Oscar
And Ghostbusters 2
Oh
Okay
That's going back
Apparently they didn't do much after that
But they apparently there were twins
And they opened a martial art studio in San Diego
That they operated just forever
And it was actually a headline on INDB this week
So
Luckily we have a short list this week
Sometimes the list of our in memoriams
Get a little brutal
But we can now take care of that
And combine
Sports and entertainment
And talk a little pro wrestling
Congratulations to Apollo Cruise
He became a first time father this week
To a baby girl named
It's it's SATDE so it could be shot A
We don't know
Sophia S-O-F-I-Y-A
I kind of like that spelling
It's very new of a reach
So Sofia
Yeah
Yeah
So fire
So fire
There you go
So fire
Only one note from law
Raw this week
I don't know if you saw it sir
But we have broken up into one cast
Officially
Thank God
They're the least made it a year
So you got that going for it
So as we move on
Wait
Wait does the Netflix show
Glow count as
You've watched it
I have not gotten to it
It just dropped Friday
It just dropped Friday
Allison Bree
How you doing?
I do not recommend at least the first episode
Maybe the first two with children in the room
Just saying there's a
I've been called a child but I will watch it anyway
Well I've been as far as legality
Oh you may have to approach some subjects
You're not ready to discuss
Let's just say you can listen to this show
Which she really shouldn't watch that with
Yeah
No there's some
This is why girls are different
But it was I really really I benched it
I mean I just sat there and just
Kept watching Kept watching
I really enjoyed it
And I can remember seeing Glow
Cause I loved Glow
I loved Glow
I can remember watching Glow
When I had to get up and turn the knob
To turn the channel on the TV
And my parents bedroom
With a pair of pliers
No I wasn't
I didn't have to do that but my sister had the front room
So I had the the parents bedroom
But I can remember Glow being on and I'm like
What are they doing?
It was it was bad wrestling
Like he was bad wrestling
But they had the little skits in between
Those skits is what I was like
What are they doing?
The wrestling.
And we were talking in pretty sure
There's a great documentary
Actually about how that whole saga unfolded
That's really really good
Which I believe is also on Netflix
I need to search so
It's really I very much enjoyed that
Originally it was going to be a 30 for 30
And then it wasn't
I don't know if we talked about this or not
But the flare 30 for 30 is going to air in September
Get that thing on the air
So your next 30 for 30 is going to be about Mike and the Mad Dog
It's coming up next month
Oh, speak a 30 for 30
Oh, be more appreciated again
This Tuesday
Two days from today
30 for 30 releases
Their first season of podcasts
Okay, they're going to be doing documentary podcast
The first season is going to be five episodes
They start airing this Tuesday
Yeah, they show I've already
I think we really enjoy that
Oh god, I did not enjoy the like it was so self-indulgent
So I need to subscribe to it
Other show
Yeah, I did
If you haven't subscribed to this show
The clip I was watching
Make sure you do there's a lot of extra material you get
And you don't miss out on wonderful things
Like chats
And again
Oh, thank you
And we put it out there
Don't believe me
This show goes out as is
We very rarely edit
Unless there's something that horrible that happens
Which probably three times in the history of the show
I've had to edit
Once I just decided not to
And just put an explicit tag on it
Because it would have taken me three and a half days
Of no sleep to edit it
And I think we somehow zero
No, that was the
That was the
John Landis incident
Where we had Miller and Lloyd
We're going to talk about here in just a minute
Hammered on this show
You've got skills but you are not that good of an editor
There's no way
They hijacked the show for 30 minutes
And we just kind of let them go
And then John Landis showed up in the middle
And I'm still trying to catch up on sleep
From that particular evening
Impact wrestling
Cutting back more jobs
As Shane Helms, Al Snow
And Pat Kenny have all been let go
Your agents are now Abyss and Sanjay Dut
You're letting
Talent book
This is a bad idea
I'm just saying
And by the way, Shane Helms does get tweeter the week
Because the day after he was let go
He actually put a tweet out that said
I want to wish Impact wrestling all the best
And their future endeavors
I was like, you know, I'm not a big fan of him
But that's funny
That's how you make women
Ahead of women
Bram has been injured at a house show
For EPW this weekend
So just another
Shot to the gut for impact
Friday night was ROH best in the world
We'll give you some quick updates on those results
In your opening match, El Tori Blay
And Ultimo Guerrero
Beat the Kingdom of Matt Taven
And Vinnie Marseiglia
Caesarian beats Adam Page in a Strat match
Search and destroy
Which is the Motor City Machine Guns
And a bunch of guys there
They beat the Rebellion
And as a result of that match
The Rebellion must disband
That was the stipulation on that match
But Kenny Kings on the Bachelorette right now
Which I found out this week
Which was very strange
Really?
Yeah, he is, very strange
Jay Leithel beats Salis Young
We were talking about this in pre-show
Don's very happy
Because Dalton Castle now has a belt
He and the boys beat the briskos in Bully Rae
To win the six-man tag championships
So Dalton Castle has a belt now
I, you know what
I would like to see
Friend of the Show Devon Pikes reaction to that entrance
Because Dalton Castle, he's very flamboyant
And his entrance music
is very
Somebody could sue somebody
Because it sounds a lot like
I want it all
It's really, it's all stopped
Once and all
I don't know how they're getting away with it
Because Shida beats Marty Scroll
To retain the TV, title
The Young Bucks retain their titles over
War Machine and the best friends
And you have a new ROH world champion
As Cody Rhodes beats Christopher Daniels
Dustin could not get to
Social media fast enough
On Friday night
I forget how close those two have gotten over the years
Because they're like 13 years apart
And it wasn't till Cody started working for the company
That they really really can be came close
And it was palpable
You could tell
Yeah
And of course
What happened?
There's that
We've got some new names
Joining the May Young Classic
Here in a couple of weeks
This will be a 16-woman tournament
After they did the UK tournament last year
I'm very much looking forward to this
There's some great ladies involved in this
From NXT Kimberly who's now being called Abby Lath
Jazzy the Alpha female gay bear
Kavita Davy who's a protege of the great Kali
And one Tessa Blanchard
Wait
Kali had a protege
Kavita Davy
I'm just saying
I'm so big
But all right
But did you hear the last name?
Tessa Blanchard
Really
Kali's daughter
And she is skilled
Brother, she's been arrested in Indies
For probably five or six years now
As in the Four Horsemen
Tessa and Tessa
I've been watching the Four Horsemen
Good
I gave her the DVD
I gave her the Rick Flare in the horse in DVD
When you called
I was in the middle of watching that
To tell me what time
And I had to pause it
But I was doing my research
I'm being good
Good
We appreciate that
I'm researching
Feel free to send me coaching
I'm so proud of her
I know she's doing she's doing good work
I love the House podcast
Mario Renalo is back
Great
At the NXT table and Triple H introduced him
And this is a direct quote
As the bipolar rock and roller
Oh my god
Are you serious?
If I'm lying
I'm dying
I read it and went
I mean he had to sign off on it
But the stories that I'm reading are part of the reason
He's a multi year deal with NXT
But part of the reason he went to NXT
Is to keep him as far away from JBL as possible
Uh, yeah
I mean that's that's documented
I'm telling you
Somebody needs to dig in that text
But
But also another person debuted on NXT this week
Who is on ROH on yesterday's episode
Bobby fish is officially in NXT
I like this kid
He's got a lot of talent
He's a great technical wrestler
So be on the lookout for Bobby fish
In the days and months to come
We have a Halloween release
For the new days book
Have you heard the name of it?
No
It's the book of booty
Shake it
Love it
Never be it
And it will release on Halloween
Sir
God
Jack Swagger apparently training for MMA
If that should work out well
And as we know from there's going to actually be a
We do have to make a correction for a last week's show
There will be a SmackDown Paperview next month
They're doing battleground
Um
This will be your third
Match with Orton and Gender Mahal
Rumored to be the return of the Poonjabi prison match
Because that worked so well
Yeah
Yeah
Where is it showing?
Because maybe I can get paid to sit in the seat
Uh, no that's going to be grateful
It's a fire
Is it the air mechanism?
I think that's not going to happen
Yeah
Uh, we were talking about this in pre-show
Alberto Del Rio
And page may be done
There are conflicting rumors
There
We're not for sure
But you know
Because that
We were put for those kids
Yeah
Too little too late if you ask me
Moving on and I had nothing from SmackDown
Except at least Carmella
Like nose history
Yeah
Because she did reference other money in the bank ladder
Matches but this thing just made my brain hurt
Yeah, so
Did the picks have to stay with the original match
Or are we going to, you know
No, no, no, no, picks are picks
Well no, I didn't know if it would like
Get like a bonus point for this other match
If the person you picked
No
No, unless, unless we set it in stone
During the show
The pick stay
Well, I'm at just a lot
Because that's too much math
And you guys know how I am with that
All right
Just a question
Let's get into movie talk
Shall we?
Box office numbers
Dropping out of the top ten this week
Only one movie drops out of the top ten this week
And it is
It comes at night
As $817,000
Three weeks, 13 million
I think they're going to be okay
I still don't want to see this movie
It freaks me out
In 10th place
Dropping from nine to ten this week
Guardians of the Galaxy volume two
Three million dollars
Eight weeks
Three hundred and eighty point two million dollars
Two hundred million dollar budget
And it did gangbusters around the world
They're going to be okay
Those kids aren't going to be
They're going to sleep all right
They're going to be fine
On their mattress
By the way, this past week
Was the birthday of one Chris Pratt
And now making things
Or making things a little creepier
It has been well-documented
I'm going to show up
Who my doppelganger is right?
Yes
Vincent de Nafrio
Yes
His birthday is two days before mine
I found that out today
His birthday is coming Friday
But he's
13 years old
Moving on
14 years old
He's still dating
He's he's greatness
I mean if it's going to have a sub dog
I'm going to be that guy
Dropping from eight to nine this week
After an underpants
The first epic movie
Four point two million dollars
Four weeks 65.7
Respectable numbers
Even with Kevin Hart in it
Did you really?
I couldn't make the screening
It was early morning I started
Yeah
There's a responsibility there sir
Dropping from seven to eight
Rough night
The Scarlet Johansson
Female version of very bad things
Let's see
That did
Four point seven million
Two million dollars
Two weeks 16.6 million dollars
On a $20 million budget
Pirates drops from six to seven this week
Five point three million dollars
Five weeks a hundred and sixty million
Two thirty on your budget sir
But again it's doing a ton of money
Global you're going to get another
Yeah
I'm sure
The money drops from four to six this week
Five point eight million dollars
Three weeks 68 and a half
Hundred and twenty five budget
I'd like this movie
I enjoyed this film
I still need to go see it
I thought the 3D was great
I choose a exclusive 296
The review is great
I just probably will need to go see it like
Mix Saturday morning or something
All eyes on me drops from the bronze medal
The fifth place this week five point nine million
Dollars two weeks 38.6 million dollars
Not yet a reviewed
Well
Yeah, it's getting killed
Yeah
Apparently we didn't learn any lessons from notorious
And the guy that played Biggie in that place
Biggie in this which I thought was kind of cool
But yeah getting destroyed by critics
47 meters down on movie
I know that you're interested in
Very saw the trailer in a word
Out
I'm all over it
I don't do boo
The thing about the Mandy Moore's in it
And they get trapped in a cage
47 meters underwater
And the sharks are coming after
Out
I'm all over that
That's right in my will house
Although
Mandy Moore how you doing but still
Not enough for me to see that film
But it's not even 90 minutes it's like 85 minutes
So
I think you just gave away Sharknado five
No that this is five
I'll be six
For Sharknado 47 meters down
Let's see
Wonder Woman drops from the silver to bronze this week
Another 25 million
I'm sorry we have a tie
I don't know that we've ever seen a tie before
On this show
Four weeks
118.3 million
So it's made it's money
Plus the double for
The marketing domestic
You can't only know what it's made over
See I can get you that information
Give me one second
Well in Guardians was it
380.2
And 8 weeks
And we're at 318
And half the time
Four and 334 million
This made over 650 million
Worldwide
Well it hasn't patty now set the record
For highest grossing
By a will film by
That is correct
That's all at this morning
Last week's
Gold medal drops to the silver this week
That's cars three
21.2 million
Two weeks just under a hundred
I liked this film
I did too
I couldn't just exclusive to 97
But I was prepared to
I hated
Because I didn't like the second one
And winning the weekend
But
Does it
Transformers the last night
Now here's my quandary
When it comes to this film
Getting destroyed by critics
Getting absolutely destroyed by critics
Is anyone in this room
Surprise by that
I'm sorry
I'm trying to save the world
I'm probably in the minority
But I love everything
Transformers
Except for three
Oh the last one
I thought it was a steaming pile
And Marky Mark is in this one
So I believe I see it
Transformers the last night
By the way
Is on me 22% on Rotten Tomatoes
Transformers the last night
15% on Rotten Tomatoes
Wow
That's less than
Independence Day 2
Um
I did that
Making money
Making money globally
Almost 200 million globally
Opening weekend
45.3
Now this opened on Tuesday night
Not Thursday night
So your total for the weekend
Is 69 million
Budget is 217
Right now globally
It's a 265
Here's my thing
Again
15% on Rotten Tomatoes
I have encountered two people
That have seen it
And said it's really good
Hmm
So I don't
I'm not going to make
I'm not going to be okay with Dave trying to drag me to this one
Just on general principle
Because
He dragged me to age of extension
And I wanted to hit him with something
Very sharp
Sharp would be good
Heavy blunt
Promise me, Donald Blossard
I don't get him to two thirds of the winter
Ten minutes
And I got a transform in a band
And I'm from Paris, Texas
And I grew up there
Shut up
You morgue
Even though I believe he went to Michael Bay
And he said
Can we get me a diction coach
And Michael?
No, just do it straight
It's fine
I'm not
Now audience score
Audience score
57%
That's dropped
Almost 30% since Wednesday
Wow, really
It was 85% when I looked at it on Wednesday
So the people that told you it was good
Do they use drugs frequently
These are two people that I hold them in fairly high regard
Okay
I'm going right after the show
I mean
If you've got three hours
Isn't that the runtime on this thing?
Seriously?
I mean it's
Let me see what they're going to tell me
Of course I'm still scrolling
Still scrolling
Why do I not have that on me
I mean it's one I want to go see
And maybe see it in the theater
But at the same time
Not every movie
Can be gone with the wind
I mean you have to have black to light
Bright light
I'm just asking you to try
That's all I need you to do
I mean it's not ishtar
Well I've yet to watch age a few
Because of what he told me
I'm just like then I'm out
I've got
It's awful
Yeah it's terrible
After
Like you said after three
I'm like I lost all faith in that franchise
And then I saw the trailer for this
And I was like I'm sorry
We're doing
What?
This is a thing
What is Anthony Hopkins thinking
Two hours and 29 minutes is your runtime
That's more than meets the eye
Well played sir
Well played
I just
I've had a part of that
That being said
Let's get to the big story from this past week
Lord and Miller
Fired
Not gone
Not you know
No they were fired
And apparently
From the hand solo solo movie
Apparently they found out about
About five minutes before the internet did
They walked into work Monday
It was like
Yeah
Can we see you outside for a minute
We'll see security guys for
And apparently they have six weeks of shooting to go
What is it exactly you do
We're going to need you to not come in this weekend
Uh
That's my redstone
Replaced by Ron Howard
Which I like it
I'm totally fine with this
I like it
I'm split
And do you want me to go
How I feel
You want me to go into my breakdown
On what I feel
You go ahead
I'm going to take a drink of my beverage
Think about it
You go back to 1973
To American graffiti
A George Lucas directed
Film starring
Ron Howard
Ron Howard
You fast forward to 1988
A film called Willow
Produced by George Lucas
Directed by
Ron Howard
He's going to be the closest to
And he's done a space movie
Come on guys
He's done a space movie
And whenever he
He goes
Which is why I said on Facebook
First thing he does
Hires Tom Hanks to be the person
That beats on in the castle
Right
He does it in
13 person
Yeah
I think there's been a relay
I don't know how I feel
I think there's been a relationship
Hey
This causes me grief
It's going to release May 28th
Next year
That's your release date
What I really don't understand
Why hasn't Spielberg stepped up?
Maybe he just wants to leave this thing
This is divorce
Stuff over and done with
Which one?
I mean, is he still helping to pay anybody out?
Spielberg?
I mean, I knew Lucas did
But I thought Spielberg did too
Am I wrong on that?
You still married a Kathleen Kennedy
No, Kate Kapshaw
Kate Kapshaw
Kathleen Kennedy was before her
No, weren't he?
They are living with
Yeah, they're very brief
But he's been married to Kate Kapshaw
Since in the end
In the end
In the end
In the end
Okay, then I'm good
You may be thinking Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathis
Maybe, I don't know
Rest her soul
So
And there are
People that are whispering
Shenanigans
Because Larry
Kazdins involved with this
And his kids, one of the screenwriters
So
You got that going for you
I think that where they were wanting to take it
Is not where Kathleen and company wanted to take it
And
My beef with that is
You knew what you were getting
When you're high
I agree with you
I agree with you
You knew what you were getting
But you know what?
Guess what other project
They backed out of
To do this
Which, in my opinion, is back on the table
A little as a remiller project
Called the Flash
Oh, oh, yeah
Because there's
And if you're WB
You need that director right now
Because you've gone through three
Yeah
Yeah, that would be a smart move
That would be...
I'm not saying
I'm just saying
Yeah, I didn't even think about that
Saw Legacy
Well now I'll be called
Jigsaw
Release our October 27
And this will continue in my streak
If not watching any of them
You're welcome America
I've never seen one either
We're all shaking
Our headway
Wait, that's still exciting
Jurassic World
Fallen Kingdom
Love that one
Love that one sheet
Oh, god, I got goosebumps
Proud, Proud, Proud
And another Howard
Go at Dallas price
Yes
Hmm
Ha ha ha ha
How you doing
You know the whole bit with her name, right?
I do not all of Ron Howard's kids
Little names
Are the cities they were conceded in
That's why our name is Bryce Dallas Howard
You know what?
No, you know what?
You know what?
A film got made
Here in Mesquite
Problem job?
Cotton Cannon
Oh, okay
It was filmed at Town East Mall
And at North Park
It was like one of the first things
Ron Howard was involved in directing
Why?
No, that was one of those Facebook posts
Where they said they're coming to
No, it's on
It's a thing
It's a thing
But I haven't had a flat tire
It's a thing
It's a thing
Look it up on YouTube
I saw it in Arlington
Yes
I wonder if that's when that happened
Who?
Who?
Who wants to think about that?
Because he was married at the time
I mean he was married very early
I understand
But we're talking Ron Howard
I mean if it was Marky Mark
I might want to think about it
But we're talking Ron Howard
The man just said
At least it's not Clint Howard
The man just said that he
He names his kids
After the towns they were conceived in
That would have been right around the time
She was conceived
I'm thinking
Because it was like
All of his kids are middle names
The cities they were conceived
And that is a true story
I'm just saying
I'm just saying
So as we continue with Ron Howard
Bloodline talk
Both of your opinions
Ron Howard's life after hours
Yes
But still a bright style tower
How are you doing
Going back to Transformers
Mark Wahlberg and Michael Bay
Both hinting that they may be done
With the franchise
But aren't we supposed to get at least
Like four more of these things
According to Michael Bay
They're doing 10 of them
The way they're marketing this thing
Was like the final chapter
Yeah
This is the final battle
But
Michael Bay was done a long time ago
They were also done after Friday
The 13th party
That's fair
That's a fair assessment
That is a fair fair fair fair
Part five the final chapter
I then so
Then it was Jason lives
Newbie
Good Lord
Jason versus Freddy
I mean this was one of those things
When it went into space
That's when I was done
Jason Xia
Let's see
So we've now found out that the Venom film
Villain will be carnage
So we're going to screw up that continuity even more
I still don't know
I haven't heard if there's going to be any mention of him
At all in homecoming
But early reviews of homecoming
Are in and they're very very good
Like the quote that I saw was total home run
So I'm only rust checked in
Gonna see you brother
I'm ready
I'm joking
I'm joking
We get to screen it
It's going to be a 50-50 shot
I think at this point
This uncle Ben died again
No
No this is after
We are not origin story
I like where they're going with it
I think this is the first one when Iron Man
And it is well if I or Stark and all of that
Yeah
We'll work with their tying it
The tying it is going to be yours
But this will be the first time this story is done
Instead of a total reboot of
We've seen this, we've seen this, we've implied this
We've seen this
This is a brand new
It's not a really new
Well it's not an origin story
Because you've already introduced him in civil war
So he's already got the powers
Right
And I like that they're not trying to backtrack it
And I'm now also old enough to say
At me, how are you doing?
It's kind of weird
Well I did cast your real young so
It's not that it's not that the anime is the older one
It's that they got a hotty to play at me
And she is a younger
And it is a little more fitting
I do love that scene in civil war
Though where he's at the park
You know he's been hitting on her
The entire time
And you know she's okay with it
And she, because though she's more stomach
She's got an Oscar
Let's see
We now know what's going to happen with pitch perfect
Three
It will be the Barton Bellas on a USO tour
Comes out in September
And the poster says
Last call pitches
Yes, wow
Wow, you know I love me some pitch perfect
And you know I love me some anti-canger
I love the first one
I enjoy the second one
We also just talked about homecoming
There will be two post credit scenes
Just two?
Guy reported today only two
Okay
So where do we live in a world only two post credit scenes?
We'll consider a guardian to have five
That's true
But then Wonder Woman had none
Well, but that's a different
Yeah, but they did one in suicide squad
But yeah, I mean it all depends on the movie
Some do some don't
But they didn't for Man of Steel and they didn't for BDS
I don't know
I just work here
I just feel in the waters
I'm just ready for Justice League
To bring it two weeks before Ragnarok
November is going to be a good month
Yeah
The other Ragnarok
The other Ragnarok
The Ragnarok that we're suing for gimmick infringement
Yeah, because you have a case
Because you're going to win man
You're totally going to win
Because they just want the tab paid for
You're just coming
Just pay the tab for free play
We'll start off by now
We'll start off by now
Time to pay pork
Will you you'll be that gracious?
I'm hoping that's wants to drop by and hang out
We're cool
I've got a
He doesn't even have to be a character
He just hang out
It's fine
You know, bring Ruffalo with you
We'll just whip it up for an evening
Just say it
I'm a solution
You can leave gold bloom at home
It's fine
I'm solutions are it
Okay
Speaking of solutions and things coming to fruition
There's another reason that for somebody that's called to be here tonight
Because Thursday night is going to be a big night
I'm very excited
I actually saw a post on social media today
From somebody else that I'm not friends with
But it's related to what we're about to talk about
Very excited
Because
What was it four years ago?
Did you hear the show?
I was thinking about that earlier today
And I remembered that Adam and Paul
I could take it a picture
Whenever we were here
That was that night
The panoramic shot
That was the night that he was here
And we were just starting to talk about
Wheels getting moving on Donovan
Wow
Which we've been talking about
On this show for about three weeks now
I've been talking about for about seven years
Well, but seriously talking about it for about three weeks
Because the time has come
Yeah
The time has come
This Thursday at the Angelica
And mockingbird station
This is the thing
The thing is here
And I am so excited about this
I love it
Chan's got to have his single get released
Whenever we have friends of the show
That get to do cool stuff like this
We want to help them promote it
Because I've always said I don't have friends
I have family
And this is another member of our family
Getting to do something
Really really really really cool
And I want you to talk about what's coming up
Thursday nights
So Thursday night
Finally
We're having the premiere of my film Donovan
And
It is
Yeah
Woo
Donovan is about a recently divorced advertising director
Who tries to be a good father to his young son
While being torn apart by his own bipolar disorder
It's a
It's a movie about relationships
And mental illness and how it affects relationships
Coupled with
Stress factors of
A divorce and limited visitation to a kid
New promotion work
And
In not taking care of yourself if you have situation
What could happen
And hopefully you're reaching some people that need to see this
This message and then move forward
And so
With that portion of the proceeds from the premiere
We're going to go to an organization called OK to say
Which is a Texas-based charity
Working to make it OK to talk about mental illness
Openly
For example
You go into a boardroom meeting
And you can't function because you have a migraine
Everybody's like, oh yeah
I get that
If you go into a boardroom meeting
And you can't function because you're in such a depression
People aren't quite accepting of that
So they're working on changing that
And again
You said seven years you weren't lying
I mean you've been dealing with this for a long time
And
I've read the script
And
And I'm a huge fan
I love the honesty in this
Like there's no punches pulled in this thing
It's a very loud look
It really really is
And I try not to be clinical or sterile with the story
And just be honest about what it's like to have this condition on a day to day basis
And how it can
It ruin your life if you don't take care of it
And what the alternative to that looks like
And there were a couple moments
As I was reading the script
Where I was going
I don't know that I've ever seen this particular angle
portrayed this real before
Like there's some of the dialogue in here
That people are going to go
All right
Let's just take it there
And I really respect it
That two words like you know what
We're going for this
And this is what we're putting out there
And you're going to just have to deal with it
Because that's what this is
And I love that
And
You've gone through a couple of different iterations
And this thing
About 4,000
I know
But that's part of being a filmmaker
When you're shooting what you write
And so this Thursday night
Angelica Mockingberg station 630
There's going to be a red carpet premier
Looks like at least one of your cast members
Will be there
Because that's the post I saw on
Social media earlier today
Right, there'll be a few of the cast members
There's going to be some crew there
And there might be some surprises
Even for me, I don't know
How long does this film run?
It's 100 minutes
So just a little over an hour and a half
I'm going to be there
I bought my tickets today
So yeah, don't think just because I know the dude
I'm getting the hook up
I'm paid for my tickets
Because I want to support
I keep wanting to say is it because that's how I know
Because I've known you for 20 years
If you know my brother can that's how I met him
At a karaoke bar
Many, many years ago that I've always said
If walls could talk
I'm glad they tore that place to the ground
You're not referring to
Angel
He knows my brother can
Well, we have to know each other
Because
Yeah, chances come around a few times
Oh yeah
Yeah, I'm all school brothers
It's another one of these relationships
That you should know each other
And you've come across each other
And it's going to be his next movie
It's going to be how you two met
Yes
But I didn't get right now
But I'm telling you this
This film is going to be something
And you really want to be a part of this
Thursday night
There have been discussions
I don't know if we've locked it down
Something you and I have been talking about
Offline
Of me helping you out with something
Perhaps after the show
Oh, the Q&A
Are we going to do it?
As far as I know
All right, I will be moderating the Q&A
The show
There you go
Time permitting
We have time for it
We'll grab a microphone
Do a Q&A
But we love everybody at the Angelica
Adam Conway, friend of the show
Who takes care of us when we go
We want to thank the Angelica for holding this
Absolutely
Because this is
This is going to be one of the coolest things
We've done in a long time
If effort on this show
Just to help be a part of this
And work with the crew on this
Come out
This is the this Thursday night
It's the official kickoff
Of summer ban 44
Weekend
This is the kickoff event
You're going to get to support several things
Yep
Not just our speaker and his movie
But it's okay to say
Okay to say
Which I have heard of
And it is a good program
And we do need to do better
By our fellow man
So go buy your ticket
Unfortunately
I have a prior obligation
And I won't be able to be there
But go
This is going to be fun
I want to hear everybody else's reviews
Email them to me
Or Facebook or something
I don't know, send me your review
I want to read what you have to say
Oh, I'm going to be writing mine
The next day
I know yours will be on the clubhouse podcast.com
That's our website
But I want to hear what the fans
The Empire has to say about it
And not only that tickets are 20
dollars of peace
There is a family five pack
I saw on the event price
For $16.66
Which I found to be a little unstable
But that's okay
I'm trying to get it
$100
And event price won't let you break it up
Whatever
But it's really easy to do
If you just go to the event page
There's a link that you can buy
But take it that's how I did it on my phone
Through event price
You can also go to DonovanTheMovie.com
And there's a link straight off of that
What easier
And I believe the trailer
The final trailer is up now
There
Soundtrack
Soundtrack on the website
You can get it from the website
We've previewed a couple of the tracks
From it
Very cool
Yeah
I know that first track
I know you'd be a big fan of
Because it's kind of got a real
Kind of a throwback
Kind of a dead or alive
Depesh mode kind of a field
It was the first thing you came to my mind when I heard it
So
Go check it out
If you don't if you don't have music to listen to
By the end of this show
There's something wrong with you
I just want to go in
Please sir
While we're all kind of feeling the love
And this is no way in any way to parlay
And what we were talking about in my segment earlier
But in all honesty
I want to know more about
Okay to say
And I'm going to go in and say it right now
I'll figure out where we got to do
And how money goes
But I'll donate a portion of whatever I make on that song
To go to that cause too
Awesome
That's what's the quality human being
You know
And if you can make it out Thursday
We'd love to see you brother
I mean this I'm telling you
I've read the script
And it's it's powerful
It's raw
It's real
It's unapologetic for what it is
And I think that's what sets it apart from a lot of stuff
That's out there right now
Yeah
I set it before I'm setting it
And you're not pulling punches in this deal
I mean this is
Seeing the second trailer
Cause I remember the original trailer
There were some different actors involved
Yeah
And it was so long
People moved away
Or said
Dude I'm done with this crap
And but the newer trailer
It looks like you were like you know
There's some stuff I wanted to do differently
And I wanted to do a little bit more solid
And you did that with the new trailer
There's also a connection to this show
In the film
But I'm told I'm not allowed to fully talk about it yet
There's somebody in the film that we've had on this show
This year
So
Yeah
Okay
Who is in
Right now my favorite film of the year
So
Very excited to have seen that
Because that is another high quality human being
But I'm a big fan of
Yeah
We could talk about him being in it
I just don't want to go
Right who far into this year
Major Dodge
Who is in
Bomb City
Which bomb cities out there
Winning more and more awards
I'm telling you see Hans
This film is when you have to see
It played at the Dallas International Film Festival this year
And I'm a
Major's been on the show
He was on the show both nights at the Dallas International Film Festival
A really, really nice guy
And since you see that you got to work with him
It's even cooler
Yeah
I don't know if he's going to be there or not
But if he is
I'm going to make sure I give him a huge hug
If I see him because I'm such a fan of a dude
I believe he's going to be there
Yeah
So I'm hoping we get to see him
Because I'm so excited for you
And I'm excited for this
Because
Again
To see somebody that we know
Get to achieve a dream like this
It's a really, really cool thing
And we want to tell everybody in the empire
Whether you're listening to us live right now
Whether you are checking us out on the archive
If you're listening to us on your favorite podcast app
And you're listening to this in a timely manner
Get to the event pride page
By tickets
By tickets
Even if you don't think you can make it
Because a portion of these proceeds
Are going to go to charity
And send somebody in your place
Because we're going to fill that joint
And there's going to be a Q&A after the film
Showtimes at 630
Showtimes at 730
Oh, so the door is going to open
630
Receptions at 630
Okay
And so you'll get a chance to interact with some of the filmmakers
I got a poster
That I'm going to hang when we get into the new studio
Whenever that day comes
Oh, maybe
But I have been following this
As long as I've known about it
And it was very early on in this show's career
That I heard about it
Since zipping and I got reconnected on Facebook
That was when I was trying to raise money
To even start the thing like that
I think the Kickstarter campaign was going on back
Yeah
Yeah
So thank you for
Brother report over the years
And thanks for having me out tonight
Oh, we're not done yet
We're not done yet
And we're going to push this thing all the way
Across the finish line for you
Because
Again
We don't have friends in the show
We have family and family takes care of family family
Always has and family always will
And
So we want you to come join us
Whether you come out because of the film
Whether you come out as the kickoff of my birthday
Weekend no matter what your excuse is
Just get there
And we're going to make sure that we get to signal as strong as possible
To get people to repost everything
So that we can pack that joint on Thursday night
And get as much support as possible
I can't wait
This is going to be
Awesome
Nineter is really set in with me
I don't know
I just want you to be on autopilot
Because you've just been so 90 to nothing
The last two months alone
I still am
There's so much to do before hand
That I really haven't had time to sit down and think
This is really happening
And whatever you need from us
We're there
Thank you
You know we're going I'm going to be there
I've already already bought my tickets
I'm going to be there
It's going to be amazing
I can't wait
This Thursday night
The Angelica and mockingbird station
If you've listened to this show
longer than four months
You know we know the Angelica
Well
Yeah
Sometimes I'm there more than I'm in my own home
Because we love going to the Angelica
We love the people there
They're wonderful
They're going to make this an amazing experience
And we want you to be there
And you know since you're on the web anyway
Go and get chances single while you're out there
It's just a couple of extra clicks
You see how I just tied it right back around
You feel like I've been doing this for almost 700 episodes
All right, so let's talk about new release
That's a new release
Let's talk about other new releases
In places you get movie new releases this week
We're going to have a review up in just a couple of days
For baby driver
It releases this Wednesday also
Okja
Which is going to be a Netflix release
I'm going to be going to that screening tomorrow night
I got to make sure I get my RCPN
This is kind of
How did you describe this?
Kind of like a Pete's Dragon
Like an Asian version of Pete's Dragon
But it's voiced over by American actors
Oh, it's not voiced over
I mean it's live action
Oh, is it?
I thought this was a
No, it's very much a Pete's Dragon
Ok, the character is CG
But everybody else is just human actor
Dispickable me three
We talked about we're going to be seeing that on Friday night
If you need to follow me on social media
Did you see I got to spend some time the other night with my close personal friend grew
In his car
It's pretty cool
A little display they had there at the cinema
17
That was a fun photo to shoot
Yes
Back to villainy
Oh, I love this
Wow, that was kind of scary
It's kind of when you walk in and get robbed
You need your picture taken with that car
And he says yes
Yes, I do
And then you realize that you're carrying it about
Two ninety and you have to sit very gingerly on the box
So it doesn't collapse the entire display
Also this week
A movie
I want to say freeze
A movie that I wish you would lift your embargo on
Because this movie looks really funny
And I will go see it
And then I'll tell you if it's worth your embargo or not
I don't know
Have you seen the trailer for the house yet?
No
This is Amy Polar and Will He Hates Will Ferrell
But Amy Polar and Will Ferrell
Yes, I saw it on Seth
Yes, they can't afford to send their daughter to college
And then the guy that plays Raffee on the league
Convinces them to turn their house into an underground casino
This trailer looks brilliant
It looks great
They have like a fight club in the basement
And this looks great
I wanted to show this to you
And tell your friends that that's what
That part got me
So your friends, it's going to happen
And we talked earlier about
Allison Brie, how you doing?
She is also in another film this week called The Little Hours
We did not, we got some press on it
But we did not get a chance to screen it
Because it was like in the middle of the day on a Tuesday
A young servant's fleeing from his master
Takes a refuge at a convent full of emotionally unstable
Nuns in the middle ages
Oh god
Introduced as a deaf blind man
He must fight to hold his cover
The nuns try to resist temptation
Oh my
This sounds like a big healthy chunk of money
Python and holy grail
Alan Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Meucci, Aubrey Plaza
John C. Riley, Molly Shannon, Fred, arm is a Nick
Offerman, Lauren, Weedman, Paul, Ryzer
Do I need to keep going?
I like to serve Robin, sketch a castle
Oh
We had a great, shaped beacon
Uh, DVD and blue right this week
The Power Rangers film
This is a good movie
I want to say this, anything
Our Rangers are related
It was good?
This movie is good
Okay, it's fun
And with the screening we went to
There were a lot of fanboys in the room
And when fanboys are cheering
That told me what I needed to know
And it was entered
It's the breakfast club with powers
Is what this is
That's the approach they took and it worked
Because I've said it before I'll say it again
There's been 19 iterations of Power Rangers
I'd hated all of them
But it stems back to when I worked at Toys Russ
But this movie is good
It's fun, it's a fresh take on it
And I really enjoyed it
Also another movie that I've enjoyed this year
T2 train spotting
Very interesting film
It's not as sequel as much as it is like a follow up
And all I really had to do was read the Wikipedia page
Because I hadn't watched the first one in 20 years
But going back and reading the Wikipedia page
It's just a refresh my memory
Great film, lots of fun
The chips movie is already hitting
Great this week
Wow
I wanted this movie to be fun so much
And I just couldn't ring myself to go see it
Also the Belko experiment
Oh god
I don't want to see this
Time to get another one
This is
This was somebody that directed this
In between two other huge projects they did
Office battle
This is not the battle one
It's the office meets battle royale
That's right
And I've seen battle royale
Because of this movie
I love battle royale
Tony Goldwinds in this
James gun wrote this
That's right
In a twisted social experiment
80 Americans are locked in their high rights corporate office in Bogota
And ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company's intercom system
To participate in a deadly game of killer be killed
I'm told that this is
I mean it's not even an hour and a half and it's just not stopped
More money
More prizes
I love it
Chad you'll be happy this week on Blu-ray
The pink Panther film collection
Sorry Peter Sellers
On Blu-ray this week
That was already on Blu-ray
No the Blu-ray release
It's been on DVD but this is
Oh that's right
The criterion collection
Does the original version of
Straw Dogs the Pecanpa film
As well as a film that we saw
At Dallas video fest a couple of years ago
Hitchcock's the larger
And Jason I don't know if you know how they do that every year
But the opening night of Dallas video fest every year
They take a film from the Silent Era
And it gets re-scored and played live by a 7 piece orchestra
Oh I think I've heard of that
And two years ago they did the larger
And it was I was more fascinated by watching
The conductor because they basically get a day to rehearse
And then they're on
But the conductor uses a specified piece of software
On a laptop that makes sure that he's still on beat for everything
I was more fascinated by watching that
Because it shows him how the tempo has to be
And it's really well done
But the criterion collection gets a hold of that this week
Nice
Tech Corner
Woo
Tech Corner
Xbox One X
I don't even know if you saw that in the last week
I never thought I'd see the day where a processor would say
Six Terraflops on it
Wow
This is going to release a November 1st
I was at a Microsoft Store last week
And then I got some more details for you
Retail price will be 499
Will be your base on that
We're still not a bad price point for this
And we'll do it will not only will be able to play in 4k
But you'll be able to broadcast in 4k through it
It's going to have almost a 2100p resolution
Literally
Yeah, it was like good God
It will do
Dolby Atmos and DTS X
But not Dolby Vision
But there are rumors of a firmware update
Kind of like Sony did with their 3d on the PS3
Okay, so as we discussed
This is basically an upgraded Xbox One
This is the new Xbox
According to the young lady I spoke with at the Microsoft Store
This is their next generation
I don't get it
I don't get it
I don't get it
It's because the technology is moving so fast
That's why they're coming out quicker
And they're going to next gen
Well like I told you that's basically what the playstation did with the PS4 Pro
I thought this was basically Microsoft's answer to that
That they're just going
Not according to the young lady
I also act the Microsoft system
Because I use your reasoning with her
I just like know this is the new thing
I find that I have to do some research
40% faster than any other console on the market
Right now
And it's the smallest Xbox they've ever released
And it really is
It's only I mean
They had a display one on there
And it's not very big at all
Like like footprint
Why is what would you compare?
I compare to the one I have in the living room
Probably about half the height
Okay but it's still got the same footprint though
From a width standpoint it's probably a little bit narrower
Okay
So we're not talking we size here but
No
But it's definitely smaller
And the the disc slot
Is a little bit more hidden than it's been before
It's there you can see it
But it's kind of like a thing above it
So it's not as visible
It better be awesome
Because I busted up my copy of pitfall on my Atari 2600
And the refresh rate on that is bad
Okay so let's speak about which
Speaking of retro games and things
This is the weeks are this Friday
We get for the Xbox One
And the in the PlayStation
Micro Machines World Series
Oh this is this week
I love
I love Micro Machines games
And they haven't done one since the end 64
Is it going to have the same guy doing the voice
I'm probably not the guy that talks real fast
Oh my god
But I love the Micro Machines
Oh yes
I love the Micro Machines games
There's a brand new gun coming out this week
And I'm so excited
Although I don't understand why it cost me
Just as much to download as it does
The biophysical disc I still don't understand that
And I haven't bought in 4Z yet
Because 4Z adjusted a DLC pack
That's all hot wheels tracks
And hot wheels got in
It looks amazing
As soon as I saw him like he was the first person
I thought I'm like oh geez
You're cover for WWE 2K18
Seth Rollins
There will be three different levels of access
For that when you purchase it
And have you heard about this Sega forever
That's going to be available
This week on iOS and Android
No
It is a free app
There'll be a $2.50 purchase to remove the ads
But it's going to be all of the old games
From the SG1000
Up to the Mega Drive
Those will be on emulators
But the Saturn and Dreamcast will be direct ports
They're the original release
We'll have the original Sonic
Fantasy Star 2
Comic Zone
Kid Chameleon and Altered Beast
With more games released every two weeks
Boy, you better have a SD card
From hell on your phone
To store those Dreamcast and Saturn games
Because they're probably going to average about a gig of peace
I'm sorry
The Saturn and the what?
No, you're not going to
Sega Dreamcast
Any other tech cornering stuff that you got for me?
Uh, E3's sneaking up on this
It's already coming gone
So that's where we got that
Now what about the Xbox X
Besides that though
Not a lot of big announcements from E3
As I was reading this week
Oh, it's Comic Con
Yeah, Comic Con's what?
Four weeks away
Yeah
So we'll have a lot of those stuff going on
And stuff that we'll miss
Because, you know, I don't have a billion
Dollars to spend in a weekend
And we are not in the right state
We're in Texas, not California
This is also a private jet
Yeah, apparently
We're just going to never get out of the hotel
We're going to get out of the hotel
We're going to never get out of the ground
All right, so this time it's on you sir
Okay
I'm
I kind of tailor this list
If you even want to call to the list
Because as you know
Friday night I made it my
Personal mission
To hunt down the
Remastered
Deluxe Edition of Purple Ray
And under Lady Graham
Well
It's available 180
Well, if you thought it
I haven't found it on vinyl
I've only got it on on CD
And I got to thinking
And I know you and I discussed at the other day
That maybe
Going down a list of albums
That needed to be remastered
And I was going down the list of albums
That I've been a big fan of
And the majority of them already have been
And then I got to thinking about
Well, what about films that I would like to see
Restored?
Okay
All right, fair enough
But a lot of those have been done as well
So what I'll
Okay then so what I really want to do
Is make this kind of a roundtable discussion
Since we have a filmmaker in the room
Fair enough
And a couple of musicians in the room
Well, I've been called worse
And then Jen
And then
And then
Huge fans of movies
And music in both you and me Jen
Let's talk about
What projects we would like to see
Both in an album form
And a film form
That we would like to see them do
Like a really good
Oopper set up
Well, I know we just got the 50th anniversary
Of Sergeant Peppers
Right
And they that thing is
You and people are loving it
With all the stuff that was originally
Supposed to be on there and wasn't
I need to see that done with the white album
Just specifically the white album
Because I love the white album
The pride and joy of my record collection
And it sits in my front room
I have an original master recording
On vinyl of the white album
I think I'm going to meet the Beatles on vinyl
From the 60s
But by favorite Beatles album
Is let it be
And I know they did let it be naked
Which was okay
But I thought they could have done more with it
As far as getting closer to the modern era
I'd like to see REO Speedwagon's high-end fidelity read done
That's my favorite album
And I've owned it on every format
I think ever
I didn't know that
I don't know what your favorite album
It is my favorite REO album
Of all time
Oh, REO album
Yeah, no, no, my favorite
I can't pick my favorite album
Yeah, that's a chance
And I've had this discussion on multiple occasions
And I can't say like that's my favorite album
Ever
Because it's just impossible
I can give you 10
I don't know though
I can go that far
Well, I mean if you had to say
Here's a list of a few things
Or if you did your bucket list of what you're taking to the island
Yeah, it's going to the island with you
Someone says, hey, here's 10
Okay, I can give you 10
But
I'm on a 10 different iPod and P3 type players
Kind of like a baby girl
I was gonna say
I wasn't
Oh, that would be so good
And make sure you listen to the review and it drops
On Wednesday
Um, this is a good list though
I mean
I mean, I
But they're coming out so rapidly now
I love what Phil Collins did with his stuff
That's right
I figured you would include this in the discussion
Well, in coming in September
I can tell you this also
Not that we haven't seen a lot of these already
But they're going to release it on vinyl
It's one of the most sought out Pink Floyd albums
Um, they're actually going to do
And another original master recording
On vinyl of Dark Side of the Moon
That was something that was coming
I think I got that on vinyl over there
But I'm not sure if I still do or not
It's coming up
Wow
And friend of the show Jon Houser
They just had the big show out in Denton
Um, where they did, he's in a Pink Floyd tribute band
And they did all of animals
And all of which you were here
Nice
In one city in bricks in the wall
No, I can't remember the name of the band
But they just played up in Denton
And I think last weekend
I'll get the name for you
I'll get it for you
Um
Dark was in Transcendence with Craig
Yeah, Jon Houser
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Gotcha
He's at like 19 different bands he's in right now
Chemical tree getting ready to release their new album
Uh, I think gobo's is going for another run
Aren't they miss them so much
There's so much bigger bands
I know
And Doc knows how it just makes me happy
Every time he says they're going to play
Um, I got one for the list
Please do
I mean, it's a group discussion
Yeah, so
Something I'd like to see done
Um
Katie lied from Steely Dan
Is notoriously known by the band
As they're most hated album
Because right after they kind of kicked everyone out
And they started being sort of a studio band only
They spent so much time in this album
Um
And they just absolutely hated it
Well, part of the reason why they hated is because they had an outdated
DBX system that wasn't functioning very well
And it overmodulated everything
But they spent so much money on releasing this album
And making it perfect that they just couldn't spend anymore money
So the record company released it anyway
Um
Well, if you listen to an original vinyl copy
I actually own one
Uh, it's horrible sounding
Now they re-did it a little bit
When citizen Dan the four-disk box set came out
Uh, that had all of their stuff
And they remastered that
But that was back in like
Gosh 92, I want to say
And audio I would have changed dramatically
I would like to see
Uh, I'd like to see a MoFi
Or a original master recording a Katie lied
Uh, not the old one
Because it still was overmodulated
You could hear how it just wasn't working
Especially on the highs
Like to see that come back out
On vinyl 180 gram and kill it
I think you could dig into the crates of some of the early CDs
That I even when I listened to now
They hadn't quite mastered digital recording
So the sound levels are way
Like pretty much
Anything Billy Joel before 80 knob
Before storm front
I think needs to be redone
An innocent man would be a great
They just they did that last year
Oh did that
And it sounds
Was it no was it was a stranger
Okay
They did last year
It sounds amazing
And I think that
More of that needs to be done
I mean 52nd Street out there then
Oh my God
And I like I said
I love that Phil's been doing that with all
I don't know if you've seen the covers
I have how he's doing the same
Yeah, he's doing doing them with the same position
That he had on the original
But it's him now
It's awesome
The vinyl is different though
Because the CD sets are two disc sets
Because the vinyl's 180 gram
It takes two albums to do the album
But the CDs
Come with a second disc
That's all live versions of those tracks
And like
Demo versions of some of the tracks too
So I've actually got both the digital
I'm starting to collect the vinyl
So I don't have them all yet
But Amazon you probably see it over there
Amazon did a box form
And it's called take a look at me now
And it's just like his eyes
Shattered glass
And it comes with two of them
I
Kind of would like to see them go back
And redo some of cruise early stuff
I don't know if the tapes are in decent enough shape
That you could do anything with them
But I like to hear some remasters there
Of crew
Yeah
As in motley
Like you'd want to hear shadow the devil remastered
Yeah, yeah
I would
I think they'd like to hear theatre pain remastered
Because they hate that album
Because they don't remember recording any of them
Yeah
And that's well documented
I just think that things are happening so fast right now
Because we're in an age where you can celebrate the 50th anniversary of something
Where has going back much further recorded music
Wasn't at a place you could do this with
Right
So
You're going to see a lot more of that coming up
From a film standpoint
So much of it's already been redone
There's still some like as you mentioned the Sergeant Pepper's album
But there was the 70s movie with the BG's and Peter Frampton
That's getting celebrated too
I know but it would be nice to see it modernized
And right on
It's just campy enough
As long as the people involved with chips are nowhere near it
Or Baywatch are nowhere near it
Did you do the Kiss movie and night at the park?
Dammit the fan of the park
You saw the Phantom with
The record album
Phantom of the Paradise
You saw the Jean has backed off
He was trying to copyright the devil horn
Oh good
He has backed off
That was amazingly stupid
Pretty sure
Pretty sure that the movie is at the dates back to the 5th Centuries
Oh. it's probably redded the money bag
Come on
Marker brothers have they have they have Mr.
Mr. Moneyman.
The American Sign Language Association.
She's got something to do with that too.
Pretty sure that's a universal symbol or any
Baseball Empire.
It's like going to a house.
Got to.
But much more money does Gene Simmons actually really.
He wants all of the money.
Well, he needs to go to D.C.
And talk to the other person that wants to have the money.
So from a film standpoint,
I would like to see somebody do something a remaster
and a revisit with a documentary on the original Ocean's 11.
Because interesting, I don't think people understand
how much of a superior film that is to the remake.
If for no other reason, the ending of the original
is so much better than the remake.
That the ending.
To me, the ending of the original is more satisfying
because of what happens.
And if you haven't seen the original,
and plus you know I'm with the Rat Pack.
Right.
I have a Rat Pack bias.
I kind of do myself.
The way that film ends is so much more satisfying.
And it's just been given just a regular straight,
basic B-flat DVD release.
They've never done anything with it.
And with the excess that the remakes
and now they're doing the female version.
That is kind of surprising that they've never really gone back
or the original get Carter,
which I thought had a more satisfying ending.
Why we're not doing a series on originals
and their re-nakes?
Because it can't be that tough to get the rights
to some of these things.
Because I think Warner Brothers did both of the get Carter's.
And that slight thing was passable at best.
I think possibly because they underlined the almost fact
that the original is always better.
So they do a series on underlining that.
But he's going to go watch the re-nakes.
Yeah, I just, I don't know.
I would like to see.
I'm surprised that somebody like AMC
hasn't done something like that.
Where you have just a panel discussion.
Some of we've been talking about doing for years
and we just can't seem to get off the ground.
Of doing, you know,
we don't want to do the mystery science
to your 3000 because that's been overdone.
But what we're talking about doing
and we talked about this for years
and we can't get our stuff together to do this is
just sitting around,
we wanted to start with a sandlot
and run the sandlot
do a podcast where we just talk about why we love this film
and things over and under on how many times
we hear you're killing these smalls about 150.
Okay.
Because he's to me that.
I'll take the over.
My favorite scene in that entire film
is Kevin.
Kevin Swins and Wendy Pepper corn.
Yeah.
The look on his face,
he turns away absolutely destroys me every time.
And just to go back and visit those kinds of films.
I just don't know if there's anything out there
that I need to see remastery
because it's all getting done.
Well, I mean,
I'm not even saying so much of a remaster
but just like an Uber packaging of it.
Like me personally.
I don't think that the standalone
just the first film in the series
of Raiders ever really got a really good release.
I don't like that they retitled it.
Yes.
It's Raiders of the Lost Park.
Yeah.
That's the name of the film.
I really want to see them release.
I like what they did with Alien and Aliens.
They each got their own separate releases a couple years.
Well, last year as a matter of fact, for Aliens.
But do something like that for Raiders
because it pretty much got that whole ball rolling.
No pun intended.
I swear to God.
Wow.
Wow.
Oh, good.
Duck.
And do something like what they did for ET
where they did the live at the Hollywood Bowl Premier
where Williams conducted the orchestra
as the film played.
Oh, I did it with Fantasia 2000.
Some, yes.
Exactly.
I mean, do this in like maybe do another limited theatrical run
and then just put out this ridiculous
Mondo freaking commission artwork cover
of Raiders.
Because it kind of covered that base.
I love that DVD.
They did that had the audience partitioned
page and audio track.
Right.
I was a little bit.
I really don't know what else you could do with
with Rocky that they haven't done already.
Because believe me, that was way at the top of my list of.
And what do we go back to another classic that everybody watches
of any of the Christmas movies?
You know, it's a wonderful life.
It's a wonderful life.
It's a wonderful life.
It's a wonderful life.
A Christmas story.
It's a great story.
I mean, every year everybody's watching those.
But what if like for it's a wonderful life?
If they did a release.
And it had, you know, some of the background information and some of the stories
behind the scenes.
I did test that.
Well, but I mean, I mean, I kind of killed it for you.
No.
America killed that from me when I was a kid.
But I'm just the same reason.
I don't like the Wizard of Oz.
I'm just saying maybe something like that could
ramp it for some of the people.
Do some of the documentary stuff with it that
shells some of the stories.
And FX does something like that when they do their
DVD on TV series.
Which I think they need to do more of.
But as far as like a remaster Uber set,
it's kind of all been done.
I don't know that there's anything that I think.
I mean, I don't know.
Have we ever gotten a really Uber set on the wall
from a video standpoint?
No, because Roger Waters and Alan Parker had such a
hate for each other by the time that thing got done.
That they, it, it really never came to fruition.
I mean, that's why there's a different
well part of it.
There's some differences between the movie and the soundtrack,
obviously.
But look, Roger Waters, who by the way,
I'm going to be using next week.
Which is going to be awesome.
I think you've missed him coming through this time.
No, I have not.
No, ever.
And maybe that needs to include the Wizard of Oz
with that album.
You know that, you know that that's.
That's an urban myth.
That's it.
I mean, somebody you can mainly really make anything up
that you want.
But if it starts with when the third war of the lion
at the MGM beginning of the movie and then you
put the Wizard of Oz to it, when that starts,
someone was high when they made that up.
No.
It's, no.
Yeah, that was just, but that's just recently.
There's somebody just proved it.
Yeah.
You're not, you're not.
There's a whole lot of coincidence.
Let's just hit that way.
I'm still going to try it.
No.
That means that I tried it.
I tried it.
But I think this is, I happened to like the album.
And I hate the movie.
So it made the movie bearable.
Yeah, absolutely.
Wow.
That movie tries me.
That would have been cool.
But I think that's all squashed because after Roger Waters
did his his iteration of the wall and then released
that on Blu-ray last year, that's kind of it.
It doesn't really want to see the rest of it.
You know, and there's actually another part.
I don't know if you knew this or not, but when the final cut
came out after the wall, there was actually a three songs
that were made into music videos.
And it was, it was the final cut the movie.
And it's, you can not find it.
I actually have a copy of it.
But it has the same teacher from the wall.
And he was starred in those videos.
And it's a really kind of, it's a 15 minute video.
It's like a long form video.
But that would be, well, you know,
we're not going to see what we're talking about stuff like that.
You know where my mind goes.
I need the epic Godfather.
I need it in my life.
Have you ever watched this thing?
Yeah.
Not available on any form of digital media.
HBO has shown it.
HBO has shown it in 1080p.
Why can't I get a blue ray of this?
Huh.
We actually blocked out a day and had like 10 people over at the house
and we powered all the way through it.
And for those of you that don't know what I'm going to talk about,
we talked about this on the show before.
The epic Godfather is when they take Godfather and Godfather 2
combine them into one film and it's chronological.
Yep.
So it starts with Vito as a child and ends with the end of Godfather 2
with extra scenes that were not in the theatrical release.
It's with total of like seven hours.
Yeah.
And it is, especially the 1080p looks gorgeous.
HBO has shown it.
So I know it's out there digitally because we saw it in the high
death.
Why I can't get this on blue ray is beyond me.
It's been my holy grail since the trilogy came out on DVD
in 2001.
What I need this in my life.
And I will continue my quest.
Well, you know what my biggest, what really inspired me to
want to do this in the first place was of course a friend's album.
So of course, you know what my ultimate holy grail is as far as
what I want to see remastered.
You know where I'm going with this under a cherry moon of course.
Not as a film, not an album.
Purple ring we already got.
Purple ring we already got.
The one that we are dying for celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.
Sign of the Times.
Fans have been clamoring for that thing to be remastered since it
first got released.
I mean, it's, it's missing so much in the low end.
Oh yeah.
It's, it's, it's, it's overbearing in the mid range.
It, it, it needed to be remastered a long time.
And I'm speaking to that when we go back to the show last week.
Something that, if you don't know about it, I don't know that people
noticed.
And I appreciated them doing it when they did this live.
The fact that when does cry has no baseline.
Yes.
And it was very daring for its time.
And to watch the dude just kind of take the base and put it behind him
when that started because that, well, I was afraid of it.
We're going to try to put something to it.
It's like, and he, well, it's not, it's not from him.
Right.
That's what I'm saying.
He just kind of shoved the base up behind it.
I was like, good.
We're going to do this right.
What else shows that distinction from that group as well.
There's not a huge hit that doesn't have a baseline in it.
My, my brain's locking up.
Kiss.
That is true.
Yes.
That's just not have a baseline.
Because it's just the guitar.
And, and a drum machine.
The guitar on the high hand.
Yeah.
But I've, I've been dying for them to do an overset of sign of the times.
That is, that is your favorite thing of all time.
Yes.
I mean, purple rain and sign of the times run a really close neck and neck race.
Sign of the times of what really cemented my fandom for this man.
That's what really made me realize that nobody could touch it musically.
And we, we need something that would sound better on a modern sound system.
Because when you listen to sign of the times as a whole, it's just, it's missing something.
It's missing quite a bit.
They really need to go back and retake it with that thing.
But, unfortunately, without his input, I don't know if it'll happen.
You never know.
Well, because he had input on this.
I mean, that first disc he did.
He remastered back in 2014.
With the way things are going, don't, I wouldn't say never at this point.
I would hope, I would hope that we would get something.
But, all right.
We've been out this long enough.
And we've said it all.
We've done it all.
And that case, we're going to do that.
I had one.
Oh, please do, friend.
Please do.
Um, some of you know I do a thing called bar three.
It's a yoga pilates ballet.
It's a workout system.
Um, this next week, the bar three in Richardson.
There's some community free classes.
Lauren and Lily are in training and about to become instructors.
So this week, it is possible to sign up and go try it for free.
If you're in the Richardson area.
Uh, the Richardson bar three has a fabulous staff.
But I do want to give some,
support to these young ladies.
They worked really hard to get to this point.
And they're going to get to do community free classes.
And I'm really proud of them.
We also want to send this shout out to a friend of the show from
From New Year's Weekend.
Mike Realm.
Yes.
He did a remix of the baby driver trailer.
Ooh.
That's pretty cool.
He did.
That was Mike room.
I watched it last night.
I didn't even make the connection.
That was friend of the show.
Mike room.
Nice.
Yeah.
It was all over the place.
I didn't realize that.
That was Mike Realm.
Oh, my god.
It did it really cool.
It's really remarkable.
Yeah.
He's that dude's amazing.
I was like, I still have his number in my phone.
It was like, wow.
You should text him and tell him what you enjoyed.
It would be like, dude.
It's all right.
Delete this number.
All right.
