Oh yeah!
Just for posterity's sake, it is 704 on the east coast.

It is season 9, episode 4, 451 times this voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse podcast.

Welcome.
My name is Rob, I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse podcast, and I'm about ready
to go somewhere where it's going to be hot, so hot, I cooked things out my shorts, a little
crotch pot cooking, it's all hot.
Just saying.
Chad under the weather tonight, so he and Jules are both not feeling well, so we hope
that they're getting well, Don is at a function with his lovely wife this evening, so he is
not here, but that doesn't mean I'm by myself, because remember, that's only ever happened
once, and it ain't never happening again.
I don't care if I put the cats in these chairs, I ain't never doing a solo show again.
Sitting in the co-host chair tonight is the newest member of the cast, and a man who's
actually wearing a Star Wars t-shirt, deceiving him and threw me a little bit, but he's sitting
in the co-host chair, so it kind of works out nicely.
Alex is here, hello sir.
Yeah, but what?
Minus 30 years?
Yeah, but still.
Yeah.
Well, but the other part is still old, huh?
Do I need to clarify that you are not going to Vietnam, just for the listeners?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm not.
And rounding out the day is the lady of the house who's returning to the show, who is
just like me, getting ready for very big things here in less than three weeks, General
is here, hello friend.
Hello everyone.
So we wanna make a quick announcement and we're gonna be fixing this on our Facebook page
momentarily. We told you that when we're going to be doing the show at who
needs sleep, that we're going to be in hour 34. That is not the case. We are now
in hour 35. But not because we lied. Right. Because we had to rearrange some
things. Because roles have changed a little bit. I'm going to be a lot more
involved in front of the camera. And we can talk about that at a later date.
But nobody's left. Everybody's here. It's just we've had to rearrange some
things so that I can be a little bit bigger of a presence. If you know what I mean.
And we're still ready, man. September 1st. We're ready to rock. I had a great meeting
with the board yesterday. Got some really cool things squared away. And remember
this Wednesday, if you're in the Dallas, Fort Worth area, 7 o'clock, Alamo and
Las Cominas, Army of Darkness. It's going to be awesome. That's one of my favorite
cult movies. See, I don't know if I can call that one a cult movie because it was
distributed by Universal. Like the first two, yes, because they were independent
films. I think it's more the style that makes it the cult movie, but I
understand where you're coming from. So let's go. We have a lot of corrections
for none updates from last week. Stephen Moffitt was not untrue blood. That was
Stephen Moyer. That's on me. The Las boys and less than zero were both in
1987, but the Las boys came out three months and a week earlier. But Jamie
Gerrts had plenty of work before both of them going back to 1981. Still, Jamie
Gerrts, how you doing? Something you, my friend, did not catch. The
general did not catch this. When we saw Linda, I referred to her as a secretary.
You are a secretary. She is a treasurer. I had no earphones. I couldn't hear what the
funny thing is. I heard that and I thought something had changed and I didn't want
to bring it out. No, sorry about that. But yeah, I only heard like that. We had limited
equipment and I had no earphones. Actually, do you remember in the middle of the show
when I just sat up and looked straight at you confused? That was it. Okay. Yeah.
Sky scraper, as of last week, and we'll take a look at this week when we get there,
Sky scraper last week was barely clearing 200 million foreign. Oh, so it's not like
it's killing it worldwide. Too much English. We'll have to take a look when we get there.
Alexander Didario is 32, sir. So I'm good there. Mr. Can you really see how you
doing her? I can. And that wasn't her. That was. I said, I was
Andrew Didario. Okay. It was. I called you on that up for the figure. No, because I'm
the one that admitted this Lena Vega thing that she was born during winter break of my
senior year in high school. Right. And Angelina Jolie did do a movie called
changeling in 2008. Okay. But we were talking about the changeling. It has nothing to do
with the film that came out in 1980 because the Angelina Jolie film was actually nominated
for Oscars. Oh, wow. So so Dom was right there. He just wasn't thinking the right film.
He said there was. He was right. So all right. So let's start like we always do with some
NASCAR talk. Today was what was today? Sunday? Sunday? Yes. Today was the consumer's energy
400 because what says consuming energy better than NASCAR? Because they did consume a lot
of grass, a lot of grass, a lot of gas. Driving in a circle. That's not always a circle.
Sometimes it's an oval. I think this was I think this was a I think this is an oval at Michigan.
Here are your top 10 finishers starting out ninth dropping to 10th to finish it in the
number 22 for Joey. No. Chase Elliott. Do we see a turning it? Well, I see the new
sheriff in town. I always get this mixed up. I'm not going to lie. I don't really pay
this. Okay. Fair enough. He started out in 21st one up in ninth in the number nine Chevrolet.
Starting in the pole position and dropping to eight by the end of the race in the number
11 Toyota. Denny Moons over my hamlin. Eric Almarola starts in 11th and winds up in
seven in the number 10 Ford in the number one 41 Ford starting in 12th, winding up in six
as Kurt Bush. Starting in eighth and finishing in fifth in the number 12 Ford is the man
we call the stew. Ryan Blaney starting in fifth, winding up in fourth in the number three
Chevrolet is the new sheriff in town Austin Dillon. I think she'll chase Elliott's
turning it law. Yeah, I think so too. In the silver medal position starting in 18th and
winding up in second. Brad Keselowski in the number two Ford and winning the race today starting
in the bronze medal finishing in the gold medal and he won two two of the three stages of
the race is one Kevin Harvick. Maybe let 108 of the 200 laps. That's going to be a win.
So here are your current cup standings. If the playoffs started today, which they're
going to we're only have three weeks left in the regular season of NASCAR. So if the
playoffs started today, your odd man out is going to be Paul Menard, but he is own and yes,
his family does own the chain of hardware stores. He is only eight points behind the Ricky
Stenhouse Jr., which as we know, NASCAR law says you have to have at least one junior on
your roster at all times. But Stenhouse is 98 points behind Alex Bowman. I don't have no,
oh, oh, my phone's not in here. So they can't go off. Let's see Jimmy six times six times six
times. I'm sorry, seven times seven times seven times seven times seven times seven times.
NASCAR champion Jimmy Johnson is 30 points ahead of him. By the way, there's apparently a vocal.
There's a bobblehead of Jimmy Johnson in the lobby that I didn't notice until yesterday with
a cowboy hat on. I think I saw that last year. Johnson is 24 points behind Eric Jones, who is 53
points behind Eric Almarola. Almarola is eight points back on Chase Elliott, a turnied
love. Elliott is 34 points back on Kyle Larson, cave man lawyer. Kyle Larson, three back on
Denny Moons over my hamlin Moons over my hamlin three back on the stone, the stone 22 back on
Kezalowski, Kezalowski six back. I'm sorry, 14 back on Joey Lagnano. Lagnano is 11 back on
Bowyer. Nine. Yes, right. Bowyer is 22 are 18 back on Kurt Bush. Kurt Bush is way back on
True X True X way back on Harvick. Harvick now 62 points back on Kyle Bush. So let's look at
your schedule. Where are we next? Next, we're going a night race on Saturday this week. We'll be
watching NXT takeover. That's going to be Bristol. It's going to be the Bass Pro Shops NRA
race. Boy, can we just can we just call that the NASCAR race? The Bass Pro Shops NRA race. Let's just
throw Bud Wizer on it. Let's get this thing going. Good mercy. I don't know because Monster has
their name on it. So that's the NASCARIEST race ever. We call that Southern friendly. That'd be the
most NASCARIEST race ever. Add some biscuits and gravy and you got a turn on it. I'm in on that.
And now I'm hungry. You're welcome. Thanks. Let's see. But that's going to be a Saturday night race
730. I believe that's all Eastern on NBCSN from Bristol. And then they're actually going to be
racing as they're going to take the following week off because the next race, the Bojangles,
Bojangles, that's good eating right there. The Bojangles Southern, you know what I'm talking about
sir as well. Bojangles Southern 500s are actually going to take place during who need sleep as
we're wrapping up. That that race looks like it will start as we are going on air or if an hour
before. I can remember if all times are Eastern if they adjust it. I think they adjust. It depends
if your if ESPN is adjusting its 5 p.m. Okay. Central. So that's so that's going to be well on
its way by the time we hit air that night as well. All right. Let's talk some TV headlines real quick.
So announce this week your casting for batwoman. I kind of did because she's going to be on
a arrow first because that's going to be the crossover. They're going to Gotham. And then she
was supposedly spinning off into her own show Ruby Rose. You might remember her from John Wick chapter
2. She was in that. I think she was spending it wasn't she in like the last Fast and Furious movie
2 or something of its ilk. Something of its ilk but it wasn't Fast and Furious. So she is your
batwoman and people are saying good on you because she reflects most of the more A's of batwoman
herself. Right. And a lot with what they want to do with the character. Rejoice. Total
bellows renewed for season 4. Now my sister does love that show but she knows I do not.
Interesting additions to the cast. I don't think she loves it because of the total bellows.
Now she's kind of her tunes kind of change about him. Real as of that show. Oh my. Because of his
level of crazy. Ruby Rose was in triple X return. Triple X that's what it was. That's what actually
she won me over as the hunter who hunts poachers. That's that's near and dear to my heart because
she was but she was also I mean I thought she was underutilized in John Wick chapter 2 but she was
really great. So interesting additions to the cast for American Horror Story Apocalypse.
You ready for this? Go for it. Lily Raib. I'm going to go there with you. Gabarei Sibide.
Yes. For Sibide. I'm sorry. And good on her because I love do you remember the whole thing
with her in stern. Mm-hmm after precious. Yeah. That was. I really hope he paid up on that
because that was a crappy thing to say. Yes it was. Let's see who else has joined the cast.
Taisa Farmiga. Maybe. Those are the Farmiga's freaking out. Francis Conroy.
And one Stevie Nicks. Thunder only happens when it's raining kids.
So you got that going for you. And that's going to be on horror story. American Horror Story Apocalypse
coming up very soon. The Walking Dead has announced what the time jump will be before the new season
starts on October 7th. They're going to jump 18 months. That's about right. I got nothing.
Well if they're I think they're going to try and tie back to the books a little bit better this
season if from what I've heard spoiler alert for older comics. Hold on you got to wait.
If you're going to do a spoiler alert. Oh I didn't realize you had to scroll. I have no
because I have I have sound effects for for spoiler alerts. Hold on. Okay. Three, two, one.
Okay. There's going to be a lot of prisoner Negan. Okay. That was a big art.
You have it a lot. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I had the wrong button. Yeah. You have a lot of buttons.
But they're probably going to try and tie a lot back to the books on a really big arc of prisoner
Negan but I don't know how they're going to do that. Exactly. That's me. Well when you have your
main actor for nine years basically say or eight years say yeah I can't do this anymore. I'll
fulfill my obligation for one more year but then I'm gone. Yeah. House of cards. Season six will
debut November 2nd. This will be the final season with Robin Wright's character now taking over
because of the Kevin Spacey thing. Yeah. Let's see. Homeland season eight will be their final
season. Never watched an episode. I've heard good things but it's one of those things like
everybody I know that's watched it enjoyed it but that's I haven't seen it. Slotterhouse five is
going to be a series at epics. They did have some success with the get shorty didn't they? Yeah
but do I need a series for Slotterhouse five? Not the feel good book of the year.
Feel good? It's not selling. In this department.
Seth Rogan. Okay I want to cut you off right now and say that horn was undeserved but please
continue. General you know we're talking about. Not yet. Seth Rogan. We all know who he is.
Stonerest laugh in history. This might be the most biased report you've done in a while.
Seth Rogan wants to be the driving force behind the revival of a show. Under normal circumstances I
would go you have my attention because Seth Rogan is money. But he wants to reboot
American gladiators. I love American. I love American gladiators. I love but Seth Rogan in American
gladiators. What are they going to be competing for weed? What's going on? No no I want you to
follow me on this tangent. Think about how many times you thought who comes up with these contests
and how could we modernize them. Now you give somebody who basically just spends 23 hours a day
smoking pot and let them come up with events. I am on board. No no I want the listeners to know
only Rob controls the soundboard. This is not a cosine flush. It's just two against one.
I just do it. No I fully am on board. It can't be as bad as the first reboot they tried to do with
and I'm gonna say it Terry Baleia. And Lailali. That's true but I didn't want to throw her into the muck.
I enjoyed that. I mean it was Hogan being Hogan but I love the concept of American gladiator.
I very much enjoyed it. And I love the idea of somebody who has a different mic atomally ECW general
manager. Now you can hit the crickets. And but my point is is if there's somebody that's gonna
find a new way to present that it's gonna be Seth Rogan in that ilk. Be a lot of green coloring
on the screen. That's all I'm saying. I'm good with that. I like green. Uh and in other news of
why is this a thing? As we mentioned Alexandra Dodario earlier. How you doing? If you're getting a reboot
of Baywatch. No! No! No! Anything tied to the movie? Not that I'm aware of. They're calling
it a remastering. That just sounds uncomfortable. Or they're just gonna call it Baywatch post-op.
Remember we had Baywatch nights when Mitch turned into a vampire hunter. I thought that was an
entirely different show. Is that what that was about? Yes. I never watched any of it. They were like
vampire hunters basically. I genuinely thought that was a different show. I guess the panic glad I
never caught that one. It was one of those late night shows and I was working nights and I was like
this why is this a thing? Aren't you supposed to be in Hawaii? I remember the show but I didn't
ever watch it. Is there anything about Hawaii that combines with vampires and makes that work?
They did a Hawaii spin off too. I thought there was Baywatch Hawaii. Yeah I thought that was the
California thing. No they were in Hawaii for that. But that did give us the Jason Momoa.
Well, if there has to be something redeeming at all times. No that doesn't. I believe there goes.
TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week, AP Bios season one. Didn't realize they finished the season.
So, mausole top to them. They did not ever do that as well. It says here and now season one but
they didn't get a season two. So it's the complete series. Mr. Mercedes season one. I believe this
was a Hulu thing. That was based on a Stephen King property. Seal team season one. My wife enjoyed
that very much. Twelve monkeys. Season three and four. Didn't realize they got past one. Yeah.
Season four of NCIS New Orleans. The Blacklist season five and Arrow season six.
So that's what you got this week. Arrow is the next one I'm going to try and catch up on.
Strappin. It's... Well, I got to start at the beginning. The CW is in a weird place in general right now.
Yes. But I've heard great things about where I'd be beginning.
Well, and I enjoy Stephen and Mel. Don't get me wrong. You're going to get past about season three
and it's going to be a bit of a tough watch. Oh, just letting you know.
So let's talk POI, shall we? You always seem to the Clubhouse podcast. We do our show weekly.
We also have special editions. So make sure when we review things of that nature we have four of them
that just hit you the other day. Make sure you check out our website, www.theclubhousepodcast.com.
That's our website. Oh, speaking of which you, uh, you haven't listened to this week's special
editions yet. I have not. I've been very football intensive for the next couple of weeks.
You take a little flack. I'm just saying. Oh, I know. Make sure you follow us on social media,
Twitter's at ClubhouseShow. Everything is in the Clubhouse podcast. All three words in that order
or you're going to wind up somewhere different. You can follow me on social media if you'd like.
Everything is yes. That Rob Irvin that has spelled ERVIN. My normal co-host for this show is Chad
Womack. Kobe's feeling better. He is Chad NPG69.
Let me sit your turn, sir. I'm Vex Blight. I'm all social media.
Jen, I'm on Instagram. We really have done this show before I promised.
The official fact checker of this show is we were done already. No, we always do plugs in the
middle. You're just not paying attention. The official fact checker of this show is Don Ford.
You can follow him at F-A-N-D-O-N-G-O-O.
F-A-N. There's two A's to begin, three is the end. No wonder I could never find them.
Yes. You can also email him for information on how we can come through a live show,
which we're going to be doing this Saturday, August the 18th. We're going to be live from
two to four central, I mean we're going to be broadcasting, but we'll be live recording the
podcast at AnimateFest. This is a first for us. Yes, very good. We're going to go out there and
see some cool anime stuff. That might tie into the list. I'm just saying. We'll be out there
from two to four on Saturday, so come hang out with us. All that takes is an email to Don to say,
hey, we'd like to have you at our establishment, at our convention, whatever. We'll come through
the show. We ain't scared. You can email me, questions, comments, concerns. I'm going to go
pound sand. I'm Rob at the clubhousepodcast.com. Chad is Chad at the clubhousepodcast.com.
Charlotte Parker's on Pinterest, because we're morally obligated to say that. We are your one-stop
shop for all things pop culture, and we're going to get into POI. POI stands for person of interest.
It is a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity and we debate their
greatness or lack thereof. This week, very interesting topic for you kids. As we have established,
I've been traveling quite a bit lately for my job, and I enjoy it very, very much.
So I've heard of this thing, and I was kind of skeptical about it, because I thought it was
going to cost me an arm and a leg. So I did some research on a little thing called TSA pre.
I don't think there were check comes at the end. I was just going to call TSA pre, and I checked
the check is their logo. They call it pre check, but they do have a logo with it.
And it's really not expensive. It is not. 85 bucks for five years.
And the way it works is you go onto the website, and it takes you about five minutes to
fill out the application, and then you send it off. And then on the website, you make an appointment,
because you have to go in person to make the payment as well as, no, you don't do an envy.
Oh, they don't look nervous anymore. Oh, wow. So my thought process, this was two weeks before I
traveled to Ohio a couple of weeks ago. So I didn't really want to go to the airport, even though my
works right by the airport, but they also have a locus. I don't want to pay to park, you know.
So they had a local office, but the local office said we can get you in, but our earliest possible
appointment is August 30th. Sorry, I got two trips between now and then. Right.
So the, but the airport was like, hey, we can get you in tomorrow morning.
Let's do that. So I went in the next morning or next afternoon, made an appointment. Now,
somebody got there before me, but he didn't have an appointment. So he had to wait.
And so the young lady was like, come on in. You have your, you have to bring your ID. I had to
bring my birth certificate. You have to bring two forms. And they give you the list on the website
of what you have to bring. All she did was sit me in her room and take my fingerprints.
Now, she said, you know, when we submit this, it can take up to 30 days.
Sorry, I'm traveling a week from Monday. She goes, well, let me take a look. And she goes, well,
your fingerprints are coming in really, really clear. So it may not take that long. Okay,
take my $85 because it's going to last me for five years. So worst case scenario, you know,
and also we have at least one concert venue here in the Metroplex that you can use it at and skip
the security line. So that's winning. So it actually came back in two business days.
I got an email, checked the status here's what they call that your known traveler number.
So I had went to American Airlines website and put that in there because I wasn't, I was like,
how do they know when I get there? So I got to put the number in my phone to just to be safe
because they don't have an app. TSA has an app, but it's more about like, here's stuff you
should bring to the airport, here's stuff you should pack, stuff like that. You have yours as well.
Actually, I got mine a couple years ago when it first started out. The fingerprinting process is
what they used to refer to as your interview. Oh, okay. But people thought they were going to be
getting grilled so they didn't jump on the bandwagon so much so they stopped calling it an interview.
Okay, fair enough. So got my KTN, put it in the American Airlines website, put it in our
company's website that we use for travel. Went to the airport two weeks ago, got my ticket,
and it's, I still don't know how they know your, your pre because there is a very, very,
very small marking on your, when you hand them the card, your boarding card. Yeah, but I have it
in my phone. Okay, then at that one there should be a small marking on it somewhere. Or maybe when
they scan it. So I got my boarding pass, went up there. Now coming back was a little bit different
than going out to Columbus. And again, don't believe me when I say the humor of my flight to Columbus
being flight 1492, that humor was not lost on me. So I got to, I got to go the separate line,
which was nice, because if it's one of the things in the site that annoys me is that there really
should be two lines at the airport, one for first time travelers, and one for people that
are what they're doing. Yeah, then this is kind of what the paycheck is. So I go up there,
how you doing Mr. Irvin, okay, got your ID, bleep bleep bleep, get in there, don't have to take
off my shoes. Nope, already winning there. Didn't, because normally I have to take four bins.
Right. My laptop can go, I mean my backpack can go through by itself, but I had to put my personal
laptop in a bin. I got to put my work laptop in a bin. I got to put my shoes in a bin. Because
what I do with everything else, being the experienced driver that I am, I actually take my wallet and
my keys and everything else and I put them in my backpack. Same. So that way I just pull them out of
my backpack on the other side. I don't have to do all that do the rigour moral, got to take off my belt,
did have to take off my belt. See that's selective, but that's not a big deal. I can deal with that,
because that's all I had to do. Now coming back, they made me, they made me take my laptops out of
the bag because they couldn't, they're actually couldn't see all three layers. Okay, but that's not
that big of a deal. That's Ohio. Well, that also makes sense. I mean, they're not just, there's a
logical reason the machine wasn't equipped with that. Right, right. Dallas was fine, Columbus was not.
Yeah, the belt thing is selective. The one they usually stick to is if you have a coat or something
that has to go separately. Right. And yeah, like if you have a light jacket on, you don't have to
take that off. Right. Which I thought was great. I am totally on board with this. Oh, I've
completely and totally on board. I've been using it for a couple of years. It's fantastic.
It's one of the greatest things ever, because I don't have to go through the rigour moral. I don't
have to deal with the stupid people that are like, what do you mean? I have 19 laptops. What do you
mean? I have to have a separate bin for each one. Or the guy to just keep setting it off.
And then you could stuck behind him. And then you find out he has an artificial hip that's
been doing it. Oh, you mean I had to tell you that? Yes. Yes, she did. I love TSA Precheck. I love it.
Because then I don't have to see the five minutes afterwards putting everything back together
and putting my shoes back on and all that stuff too. Actually, there's another benefit that you
have not gotten to use with it. If you go to somewhere that is a friendly traveling location,
say an island set of islands off the coast that's not quite American, but they're very friendly with
America. They run that stuff too. And when you have to deal with immigration and you get to skip
parts of that, fantastic. Nice. I'm on board with that. I love to test that theory someday.
Oh, we will. But I'm totally on board with this. I love this. I was a little skeptical because I
thought it was a lot more expensive than it is. Now granted, 85 bucks in the shot for anything is
not cheap. Right. But you're talking, but you're talking 20 bucks a year, 21 dollars a year. Yeah,
less because you're at five years. Oh, yeah, more than 85, 21 times five is 80 or
something like that. Times five would put you at a hundred, sir. Yeah, not included. Again,
I've told you people I don't do math well. You have enough. Is he over the love? I'm just saying.
But I'm totally on board. Now, if you're somebody that doesn't travel,
but you should also look at the website. I don't know if the website tells you, but find out where
else you can use it. Because like I said, the starplex, you can use it there. You can just not go
through the regular security line and go right straight in. I think it's a brilliant deal. They're
doing a lot of stuff like that with the clubs and select cities, I believe. I think Vegas is
getting on that. LA has a lot of that too. It's just so much easier than dealing with the whip.
Because I miss the days where dude, I got a three hour layover in Dallas. All right, I'm coming
out. I'm going to walk you day to day. I miss those days. Traveling has become a beating.
And anything that the airlines can do to make this easier. And we've done my travel tips before
and we may have to do them again some days soon. Because people just can't handle flying.
I may have to ask Sean for that since now she's what two to three weeks a month. I mean,
this isn't what's going on. What it takes to take a flight somewhere and become just
it's a beating. Like if you can't store it above you, check it. I carry my backpack on the plane.
My backpack sits underneath the seat in front of me. But then I've got somebody that's sitting
in row three who has a bag that's above the seat in row 34. And now I got to deal with the
beating of them going against the grain as we're getting on the plane. And they have to be the
first one off the plane. So they're going to run to the back. Sorry, Homer, you're going to wait.
But the other part is is that may not be there doing it. Maybe somebody who's sitting in row 34
going, I'm just going to leave my bag here and nobody stops them. But you know what? Again,
you're bringing a suitcase the size of Alaska, which you're not supposed to anyway. True.
Like packs smart. Tom saying. But TSA, pre-check, I'm in.
Check it out. I've been in for a couple of years. So Google it. Go to the TSA.gov and then you can
get to it from there. It doesn't take you very long. It's like I'm literally a five minute
are you who you say you are? Boom. Here's what you need to bring. Come to your deal. Get your
fingerprints done. Boom. Done. Love it. Love everything about it. And I'll have to plan ahead if I ever
do it because we have issues with my fingerprints working in kitchens you tend to have.
Well, interestingly enough, they they had a problem with one of my fingers.
Sean's came back quickly because I do have the history of working in kitchens. I believe it was
my right ring that they were saying I needed to come back in. And they're like, oh, no, we just
ran it through another database and we're good. But at the same time, the only ones that really
take longer is if you have certain things on your history that they need to review. Right.
I thought it was a great great experience. Shout out to TSA for being amazing and for what they
have to go to. How rare have you heard that said though? Because that and see that's part of my
problem with entities like that is you never hear the good experiences. Right. People always just
want to whine. They're the long snappers of airport travel. So shout out to them. And then
TSA was great going both ways. People were in a great mood. You know, and I do have a problem with
the sketchers commercial with Tony Romo. Well, I just take my shoes off. Tony, your TSA pre-check.
Let's be real. You don't take it. No, no, he's not even TSA pre-check. He got his own. Well, he's
called a flight. He calls up Jerry. So all right, let's get on to it. And we're going to talk.
Are we going to do this? Are we going to do this? Are we going to do what? Just everybody take a
nice deep breath. We get to talk about the NFL. Our long national nightmare is almost over.
No, it's coming out of its sleep. But here's the thing. And as they say in the Bob and Tom show,
we're in pre-season and the games don't count, but the injuries do. Yeah, that's true.
That's my only issue with pre-season. It just wears me out. But we're going to start by talking
about hard knocks. Did you watch hard knocks, yes, sir? No, it's on my DVR, but I heard about the
Landry F-bump speech. If you listen to other podcasts, and we're okay with that, as long as you
listen to ours as well, if you listen to the Pat McAfee show from this last Thursday, he goes
in on this hard knocks for almost the length of the episode itself. You told me about this.
He's saying from an NFL player standpoint, it's horse hoey. And it's just, I mean, I was
entertained. It didn't make me believe in the Browns anymore. No, you know what made me believe
in the Browns? They looked great in their first game. Again, I just, I'm not sold yet. I'm not
talking super bowl, but what I'm saying is they looked competent. I mean, there was a part of it
that was heart-wrenching because Hugh Jackson had to deal with the death of his brother and his
mother within eight days of each other. Yeah, that was quick. And I appreciate the way they handled
that. I thought it was really well done. I'm just not sold on this team yet. I think Baker Mayfield
probably has the most potential of a Browns draft pick quarterback in a long time. That's not
really saying much, but this kid seems to get it. Yeah. Like, he seems to, and I will tell you,
I'm gonna, I'm gonna spoil this. So hold on, I get it. No, go for it. Hold on, I gotta do the thing.
Where is it? There it is. Three, two, one. They show him signing his contract, and they tell him
that his signing bonus is 14 million. So as a rookie, you have to stand in front of the team,
say who you are, what college you into, what your signing bonus was, and you have to sing a song.
See, now they do that every year on hard knocks, but they don't always include the signing bonus.
So he's already endeared himself to McAfee because the song he sang was taking me home country roads.
But he says Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma, Uncle Sam got about half the signing bonus. I'm like, no, no, no, no,
you need to tell us what the signing bonus was. He's like 7.7. We're like, no, no, no, no. The whole thing.
I mean, my living room going, we know what you signed for. We signed. Yeah, you know,
but they do address he had to go buy the RV for the quarterback and the other rookie quarterback,
the fourth string guy. He was responsible for stocking it. Yes.
I mean, they can't go anywhere but up. Well, they can go laterally.
What they're not going to, because I will say, just now being the degenerate gambler that I am and
the fantasy football nut and everything that goes along with it, there were things watching them play
against my beloved New York football giants. Tyra Taylor, I still believe in. I think I think he's a great
player. I just think he got stuck in a bad situation in Buffalo, because you know how much we both
hate Buffalo. Oh, yeah. Well, anybody with in the right mind besides Bill's mafia. But the big
gist is that that team has, I meant to bring myself a lot of sticky. You did the opposite. But you
used right mind and built mafia in the same sentence. Right. I clarified if you were not so enamored
because those two things together does not compute exactly. But the gist is there was a lot of good
that went into that. And I thought they were going to have a lot of trouble with Joe Thomas having
retired. They're long time left tackle. That offense looked good. Todd Haley kind of a nut job
as a coach, but he knows I don't get scripted. One thing McVee was saying he's like this thing,
like the way he is and the way he is. This is coming to a head. Oh, it will. At some point,
it absolutely will. But they care. But am I going to not watch the next episode? Of course not.
I love hard knocks as an entity. And it's football. I don't care. Absolutely. I'll watch Cleveland
and the Bengals play. I don't care. It's football. But you know what I did get to see in that game.
My man, say, Juan, go in 39 yards on a square. What's his name? I'm not following for this again.
Nope. Not doing it. For the listeners that don't know, Rob likes to have somebody say, say,
Juan, and then say, what? Say what? No, you say. I'm ruining it. I'm legitimately ruining it for you
just because it's such a big bit. I'm not sold. But I'm interested. Because again, it's preseason,
and I can't. I just can't put it any stock in preseason football. I can't do it. Talk to me
on September, the what? What's that said to the September or the sixth? Talk to me then.
But at least give me this now because that's going to hold because here's my thing with this off
season. I don't feel like this is a really long off season. It's actually felt like one of the
quicker off seasons we've had in recent memory. Well, it's because the draft was pushed back
further. But I'm still no less hungry for football. Speaking of football, we'll talk
about what the NFL is. But did you see the look of the new Ole Miss mascot? No. Look this up
on it. He's a land shark and not in that SNL kind of way. I cannot describe to you
the look of this mascot. I saw it today on the front page of Yahoo. And I just sat there and I was like
somebody like somebody okay that. Show it to the general. So she can see it. No, the first one I saw
was the left shark from the Super Bowl. Not that far off. No, it is not. But there is your
because they couldn't be the rebels anymore. Well, they could. They just wanted to avoid the
trouble with it. Yeah, that's the new land shark because when I think Mississippi, I think land shark.
Well, the running gig with that was they've had a really good defense for a while and they've
been the sharks. So they're just playing off of that. But you have land shark Tony. Yeah, that's
his name. Land shark Tony. Who has his own Twitter? If you want to see it, it's at land shark
Tony because I teach land shark Tony how to tweet. I can't get to my computer fast enough for that.
You said Wendy's on my stomach. Well, no, I'm on something tasty when he said when these gestures
matter. All right, so let's talk about preseason week one. I can't the fact that they've got the odds
on here. Tell me you're not betting on preseason football. That's going to be harder than betting on
hockey because there's no stability to it. There's none. I don't want to answer this,
but I do have a good pivot for that. Did you see the news coming out of Buffalo Wild Wings?
Yes, that they want to start showing having sports betting in their establishments.
Yeah, I guess it was going to be spending a lot of time at Buffalo Wild Wings if that happens.
Not me because their food still sucks. Yeah, but I know people that work there so I don't have to pay for it.
That doesn't make you taste any better. Yeah, but I can make money at it. No,
so it doesn't cost anything to me to sit there and drink it. Buffalo, Buffalo giving three,
but they still lose by five to Carolina. Chicago also doesn't cover as they lose by three to the
Bengals. Cleveland actually covered against your beloved giants. They were only giving one.
That's not the giants offense. My Miami Dolphins choked it and they were giving two and a half.
And they lost by two. So they lost by four and a half. Pittsburgh actually demolishes Philly,
31 to 14 and Philly was giving three on that. Jacksonville also doesn't cover as they lose by four
to New Orleans. Baltimore covers because they beat the Rams into oblivion. 33 to seven.
There's a theory on why those games are easier to bet. New England, of course covers because
New England. Let's see. Green Bay covers 31 17 over Tennessee. Kansas City does not cover because
they lose by seven to Houston, Houston, Houston. The Cowboys actually, we would have won on that
bet because San Francisco was giving four and San Francisco one by three. Indy is a push
because they were giving two and they win by a safety, but hey, it's a win as a win.
Right. Oakland covers because they win 16 to 10 over Daytona. The Jets blank Atlanta.
They were giving four and a half there. Minnesota all over Denver, 42, 28. And Arizona covers as they
beat the the chargers by seven. Well, there's the theory that goes along with that is whichever
team has the most high-talented rookies that need to get more game time tend to be the more
favorite in preseason. I don't really care. All right. So are you going to gloss over the news coming
out of the Pittsburgh Philadelphia game? I did not get that. That's our please. Oh, there was some
inflation issues. Oh, then apparently there was a severely deflated ball coming through Pittsburgh.
Well, I can't you push the button. That's what she said. Anyway, let's talk about this week. Thursday
night, Philly is at New England. Pittsburgh at Green Bay and New York at the Washington football club.
Friday night. I'm sorry, which New York? That would be the Jets choke, choke, choke, choke. Who
happened to have a new starting quarterback based on their reps in practice? Oh, really?
Sam Darnell played well enough in the preseason game. He's now getting most of them.
Didn't he wasn't he out looking for some food from the ground came a bubble and crude?
I'll give that to myself. There you go. I caught that when I was waiting for Alex. I don't get it.
That's from the Beverly Hills. I'm sorry. That show was long gone by the time I was born.
Mine too, but at least I knew about it. Friday night Kansas City will be at Atlanta. How old
is it? Speaking of Atlanta, when I was in Ohio a couple of weeks ago, and I know we mentioned this
last week. No, there's a connection to Atlanta when they had that MLS All-Star game. Yes.
Man, that town's crazy for that team. Man, I mean, they were saying that that team is 18 months old
and Atlanta has become an MLS town. Well, Atlanta tends to jump on their teams. They're a very,
very good fan base. And I mean, they were very, very complimentary. Let's see. Your giants will be
at Detroit Buffalo at Cleveland. Oh, my beloved dolphins will be at Carolina. Arizona will be
at New Orleans. And now we're getting into the Saturday games as Jacksonville's at Minnesota,
Oakland there. I'm sorry, because the autumn wind is a radar. They will be at the Los Angeles
Rams. Bengals will be at the Cowboys. Will they be back here yet? Are they still going to be
on the West Coast? I do not know yet. Usually it's around the third week that they come back to Dallas,
but I don't know. My beloved Buccaneers will be at the Titans San Francisco at Houston,
Chicago at Denver, and then Seattle at Los Angeles. And then you'll have your first Monday night
preseason game next week as Baltimore takes on the Colts.
Bet Baltimore. I'm not betting on preseason football. I don't care what you say. I'll bet on which
crow flies off the fence first, because that's what you do. Let's do some music talk real quick.
Only one music headline this week. Cardi B could be the new host of Catfish.
Because apparently the current guy that created Catfish is, well, no, seriously, I mean,
it's not what's going on over there. It's not pretty. There have been some accusations
that have forced one of the founders and creators of the show out. Which one? I don't know.
I don't watch the show. Couldn't tell you. Watch the documentary. That was enough. I did watch
the documentary. I have watched the show mostly be in support of the sensational Shawnee, but.
Oh, sorry. Speaking of documentaries. Yes, ma'am. The highlights documentary that you all
liked so well from 44 pages. Yes, I really dig it. Okay, it's on Netflix right now.
My problem with that documentary is it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. Okay.
I wanted more of the history of highlights for children and less about them producing that issue.
That was my issue. I mean, they still talk about it, but not nearly the depth I wanted.
I'm sorry. It's worth a check out. I mean, if you got nothing going on.
Yeah, tireless, but sorry, my tangent. You're good. You're good.
Music, new releases in places you get music, new releases this week. Animal collective.
I just like the name of that band. Tangerine Reef is the name of their new album.
Ariana Grande is back this week. The newly engaged Ariana Grande.
To a guy that likes to roll the doobies. That album is called Sweetener.
Because I don't know. Blue October with a new album this week called I Hope You're Happy
and Death Cab for Cutie with a new album called Thank You For Today.
The news on that via the TMZ is that the co-host is leaving based on pursuing filmmaking.
All right, let's do a quick in-memorium segment. A couple of heavy hitters this week.
First, we go to the world of sport and the world of movies.
Yes.
Gen. Rome, do you remember the first, uh, Wayne's World Film?
Wayne's World. Pride time. Excellent. Do you remember the first film?
Yes. Do you remember the donut shop that they used to meet at?
Yes. The big. Yes. What was it called?
I can picture the big huge donut on the top. No, it wasn't a donut.
No, no, it wasn't a donut. It was a person. It was a hockey park.
Stan McEda. Stan McEda donut. He passed away this week at age 78.
But named one of the 100 greatest NHL players of all time. Absolutely.
Born in the Slovak Republic.
Then moved to Ontario as a young boy.
This is a guy that he was the Scotty Pippin to, uh,
uh, was it to Bobby holes? Michael Jordan. I mean, this guy was beloved.
He played, uh, his entire career for the Black Hawks.
That's some loyalty. Back, I mean, but back then that was kind of the thing.
Yeah, right. That was you had a job, but he did a lot of the dirty work that got things done.
I mean, this was, and this was a guy that was popular in the community,
uh, retired during the thing about this, his rookie year.
He started when did he 1959, 1960,
retired in the 1979, 1980 season.
That's a run all with the same team. Yeah. That's nice.
I mean, in the college, he played for the St. Catherine's TPs.
I actually, I think I know somebody that actually played for me in the OHA junior. Yeah.
But again, started with the Black Hawks in 58, retired in 80, uh, career numbers,
almost 1,400 goals, almost over, no, over 925 assists, over almost 1,500 points,
had a plus minus career of plus 159. Oh, wow. Mm-hmm.
He had, uh, six game winners total in the playoffs in his career,
12 power play goals in his career in the playoffs. I mean, penalty minutes, 169 career,
which is really not that bad. That's actually pretty low. It's actually not that bad at all.
But this guy is one of the greats of all time. And when I heard the other day, I was like,
oh, man. And then you have this one. If you are over the age of 30,
uh, we lost Charlotte Ray this week. And now that one, that one hit, it's been 92.
It's been great seeing what everybody remembers her from because it's not just one TV show.
My, my earliest memory of her was, was as Mrs. Garrett on different strokes.
Because a lot of people talk about the facts of life, but the facts of life was a spin-off
of different strokes with her character, Edna Garrett. And I mean, you always thought, I mean,
I mean, see if they show that they say it in here. They don't. She had a, I always thought she was
like five two. She just seemed very diminutive to me. Yeah, she was not tall. But with the hair,
she was six three. Yeah. So because she had this wonderful red helmet of hair that had to have
had its own zip code. No, I would say it's own like staff member keeping it afloat.
Uh, she was born April 26, 1926. Born Charlotte Ray Lebatsky. Uh, let's see. She was,
she had been divorced since 1976 to John Strauss. Oh, wow. She's one of those women that you
always, when you were having a bad day, you really just wanted to Mrs. Garrett to hug you.
And she was so great. Yeah. She was so great. Uh, she was born in Milwaukee. She was a childhood
friend of Golda Maier. Uh, I mean, yeah, her, her parents were friends of theirs actually.
So she technically by proxy, she was. Uh, she's the second of three sisters.
After a Milwaukee, they moved to Shorewood, Wisconsin. She did radio work when she was a child.
In 1942, at the age of 16, she was an apprentice with the port players. And, uh, she worked with
people like Morton de Costa, who would direct a music man on Broadway later in his career. She went
to Northwestern, although she did not graduate. But that's where she met one of her lifelong friends.
They didn't leave you by the name of Chloris Leachman.
Did not know they were really close. Uh, and of course, I didn't think about that.
Leachman succeeded her on the facts of life. She was, she took over when, when Charlotte stepped down.
Uh, other people that she knew at Northwestern, Agnes Nixon, Charlton Heston, Paul Lind,
Gerald Freeman, Claude Atkins, and Sheldon Harnock. Uh, this, I mean, she's,
everybody you wanted in either a mother or a grandmother or an aunt. She was in two shows being,
I mean, if you, if you just, if you just isolate different strokes in the facts of life,
those were two shows that were light years ahead of their time because they addressed things
that people weren't addressing. If you heard the guy on TV go in a very special episode,
more often than not, it was followed by different strokes or the facts of life. Silver spoons would
be that, that malaround, addressing things like extreme stranger danger. Oh, yeah, drugs.
When is the right time to do the, and your, your safe zones versus someone else's safe zones versus,
uh, you know, families, families having businesses, um, and when is the right time to make choices
for yourself? I mean, the facts of life we grew up, I mean, I, take the good, you take the bad,
you're taking both, and there you have. But I mean, I literally grew up with those girls. Um,
I mean, and I can even remember an outfit that I had that Tutti also had. I still, it was just
a spray outfit and I had it and she had it and I wore it to school one day and three days later,
she showed up on an episode in it. And there's talks of that coming back. Yeah,
of them doing a reboot of that. Her first big success, though, was actually on car 54,
where are you in 1961? I can believe that. She was, uh, she was the wife of Officer Lear Leo
Schnauzack, played by the great grandpa out Lewis back in those days. She was just one of those
people that just knowing she was in the world made the world a better place. And so we want to send
our best to their families, friends and fans. All right, that being said, let's go back a little bit.
Talk a little MLB because we have to. Well, it's not that we have to, but oh, yes, we want to.
Yes, we do. All right, so let me do a little bit of research here.
Would this be research setting up for America's favorite game show? That is correct, sir. Okay.
All right, in the A, I'm actually I'm going to refresh so I can make sure I have the most updated numbers
because I want to make sure that we've got what we need. It looks like everything is still intact.
Good, good, good. In the American League East, the Baltimore Orioles, they are 35 and 84.
That's not good. You are 49 games below 500 to your 49 and a half back. But did you see the record
that that terrible home or win loss led to? I know that that was the, we talked about a couple
weeks ago that they had the farthest deficit from first before the All Star breaks since they
track such things. Well, there is another one. The largest gap between wins in teams trading
for Zach Britain became the player with the largest gap going from Baltimore to New York
now has the largest win loss change of trade. And they've lost five in a row, by the way.
You've only got God. They've won 15 round games. And they are 19 games back on Toronto. I'm
always up for for Blue J failure as a Braves fan. Toronto is six and a half back on
Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay is way back on the Yankees, like 12 and a half ish. And Boston just keeps winning.
They've won four in a row. They're not going to half up on the Yankees right now.
But then the Yankees play the Rangers and they're right back in it. In the AL Central,
the Kansas City Royals 35 and 82. So get ready. Wow. But here's the thing. They've won the same
amount of games as Baltimore has. They're 18 games closer to the lead than Baltimore is.
That says something about the division. They're 31 and a half back. They're seven back on the
White Sox. The White Sox are 16 and a half back on Detroit. Detroit is four and a half back on
Minnesota. But Minnesota is now 12 and a half back on Cleveland. Again, don't start playing
major league yet. There's still time for a meltdown. You know, it's funny that you say that when
what was it two days ago, we got the notice from Alamo that they're playing major league.
I'm telling you, I mean, I love that movie. And he's just watched that movie. I'm good,
but let's not start playing in a loop just yet. Okay. And in the AL West, the Rangers. Good,
Lord. I do want to send this shout out though. You know, they're getting ready. They've just
opened the new complex of the entertainment. If you go down there and you see the big fountain,
that was designed by a good buddy of mine. Oh, wow. Austin Masonry, Paul Austin. The guy does
incredible work. So when you go down there and you see the fountain with the big
variegers logo, he did that. Very cool. It's gorgeous. So the Rangers 52 and 68,
they're 21 and a half back. They've lost two in a row. And those were both to the Yankees.
They are eight games back on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles, Los Angeles,
County, California, America, North America, Earth, Milky Way universe. And law is nine and a half
back on Seattle. Seattle's a game back on Oakland, but Houston only has a three game lead in
that division because host Houston Houston's dropped four in a row. Oh, that might be the only time
they've done it all year. In the National League and the AL West, the Padres are 48 and 72. They're
70 and a half back. They are 11 and a half back on the Padres. The Padres are four and a half
back on the Rockies. The Rockies are only a half game back on Misty's beloved Dodgers. The Dodgers
only a game back on Arizona right now. So they are locked up in a tight one. Let's see in the
NL Central, the Cincinnati Reds 14 games below 500. They're 16 back. They are nine and a half
back on Don's Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates are two and a half back on St. Louis. St. Louis is two
and a half back on Millowaw K, who my Braves beat last night. Thank you very much. I think they did
that today. They lost last night. They won today. And Millowaw K is two and a half back on the
Cubs and in the only division that matters. The NL East, my Miami Marlins 48 and 71. So we got that
going for us two and eight in their last 10. They're 18 back, but they're only three back on your
meds. Not last place. Not last place. As long as the Marlins exist, you never have to worry about that.
Until there's like the Josh Beckett year, which happens once a decade. Yeah. Well, it's when
they're not called Miami. And your meds are 10 back on the Nattinals. The Nattinals are five back
on Philly, but they're tied with Atlanta, but Atlanta currently has the tie break. Yes. So
if the playoffs started today, well, technically they don't do a tie break in baseball. They would
have a one game playoff. So tie break means no. Well, for the division lead though, it does.
Well, only for right now. So if the playoffs started today, your division leaders in the
American League would be Boston Cleveland, Houston. Your wild card right now would be Yankees in
Oakland. However, you the only really one that's that's threatening right now is Seattle. Seattle is
a game and a half back Tampa based 10 back gathered in the National League, your division leaders
Atlanta, the Cubs, Arizona, wild card currently would be Philadelphia and Milwaukee. But here's
the National League problem. You've got one, two, three, four, five, six teams within within
seven games, being the Dodgers, St. Louis, Colorado, Washington, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco.
After that, you drop down 13 and a half back would be Cincinnati. But you're only your meds are
a game and a half back on Seattle on Cincinnati. So if we can finish ahead of Cincinnati,
I'll consider it a win stranger things have happened. Yeah. All right. Let's get to America's
favorite game show. What is the run differential for the Kansas City Royals? Ladies first,
Gen. Rome, what you got? No, wait a minute. You made me go first last week and Alex is sitting
where you normally start. Alex goes first. She's different to you. I will take it. And the hard part
was what was it 200 less? I'm not going to say what last week's was. And then I had to watch
them win a game over the Cubs nine to nothing. They're still terrible. I'm going to say minus
two 15 minus two 15. Gen. Rome. Because the whole point is to not go over. I'm going to go with
my same from last week of negative two or two. The Kansas City Royals are 35 and 82. That means
they are 47 games below 500. They have won more games on the road than they have one at home.
That's not a high bar. They've lost three in a row. They're one in nine and their last 10.
Gen. Rome, had you outbid Alex? Had you gone? Had you gone? Had I done the Alex trick and
gone one more? Hey, you would have done that once. You would have hit the nail on the head. So
Alex wins. It is minus two 16. See, for me getting flak about doing the one over that I've done
once. Maybe twice. Twice. Now, who has the best in Major League Baseball?
Well, Houston's on a losing streak. They may have lost it. Chris sales been on the DL,
so I don't think Boston. It is Boston. Okay. Plus two 13. Yes. Okay, so that's four 29.
As Rob learned last time, Jen also likes the Boston Red Sucks. Yes. Yes. So staying in baseball,
but only for a moment. Are you familiar with players weekend? Where they get to pick their own
nicknames for the back? Oh, yeah, different things like that. I may have to root for Arizona
by default for the rest of the year, just because the greatest jersey I have ever seen for players
weekend is an Arizona player. And I will make sure this is open and just handed over to you, sir.
It is Brad Boxberger. And he's using emojis of a box and a hamburger. And all the other ones
are just like names. I don't know. I like Ender and Karna. Well, you're, you're, you're,
and see, because his name is Ender, his, his jersey says game Ender. Yeah, but you see your
underpants, underpants, funny. Bradhand, the bro team shape. That's a little unstable.
Carl Edwards, Jr. My love is hamburgers. String bean slinger. Okay, that's just wrong.
Okay, do we need to get a Paul Fry pop a free top? You know what? I'm giving him credit for that.
Um, Paul Walker. He's the guacamole. Yes, Monty Grandal is the Yazmanian devil. Yeah,
that's not new. David Fletcher Fletcher, Jerry Blebbins, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry.
But the creativity of, well, that was the quote-unquote top 10,
and it's picked by ESPN. But the idea that Brad Boxberger was like, no, I'm not using letters.
And it was that good. Kids that able to close in the hair. Let's move on, shall we? Sure.
We are the kingdoms. The greatest group in Ring of Honor history. And you, my friends,
you are checking out the Clubhouse podcast. Fight the conspiracy and be one of us.
Let's combine our love for sports and entertainment into pro wrestling talk.
Sammy Zane has another rotator cuff surgery. He will now be out until early 2019. But in his
Instagram post, he is in very high spirits. As he usually is, we miss you, Sammy. So get
well soon and come back. Speaking of his best friend, you see his involvement for Super Showdown
in October. Yes, I did. Kevin Owens versus Juan Chena. The problem is nobody's going to see that
match. Nobody's going to see that show. John Cena reference. Well, no, they'll see half the match.
And we probably need to talk about if we're going to do picks for that or not.
If we're going to do picks. Because that was originally supposed to be your October paper
review, but now with evolution. Well, yeah, what do we do? So we're going to have to talk about that.
I think it's going to wind up being evolution just based on a timing statement. We're definitely
going to do evolution. Whether or not we do that, we do that one. We'll have to talk. Some
raw notes. If that's the case, I want to go back and get my plus 50. You can have it. You can have it.
I know L.A. was smiling very wide during raw this week. Was it raw? Now let's put something into
context here. You guys know me. I am willing to give credit where credit is due. And I am willing to
accept criticism where criticism is due. And I am not above reproach. When my favorites make
issues or have problems, I admit it and coach had a big one this week. Whichever man gets to his
feet first will have the upper hand. Coach, you're better than that. Well, did you see the news about
what the deal with him this week is? I know who's replacing him this week. Yes, he was put
on assignment. But there it's going to be because his golf channel stuff was this week.
Oh, okay. So he was supposed to be back and they're like, no, go ahead. You leave him a boil out.
You're a big help, please. And did that Elias Lashley bit take place on a third grade playground?
Did I miss something? Second grade. That was terrible. Everything with Lashley is terrible. And we
got to figure out. Cole has got to figure out if he's going to be heel announcer or face announcer.
Because Cole says Elias uses a cheap shot. But you're like Elias fan one. That should be perfectly in the rules for you.
Commit one way or the other. I'm just saying. And like Graves know. Yeah, so Graves knows which way to go with it.
Because I think Graves would be much better as the Elias fan than Cole would be. Oh, absolutely.
Well, he think about it. He's already got the punk rock look for when he was performing. And dear God,
that first hour took forever. When I looked up and realized that we were barely through the end of hour one,
I was like, oh my God. Are you kidding me? Do you miss the 90 minute cut? Well,
and plus tomorrow I'm going to be, well, because I watched I still watch it on my DVR. Right.
But tomorrow I'm two hours behind. So raw where I'm going to be starts at five o'clock.
So I'll be able to by the time I get back to the hotel after having dinner with one of my sisters,
when I'm very much looking forward to seeing I'll be able to fast forward most of it.
Still be in bed by nine o'clock. So I'll be in a good shape tomorrow. Let's see.
You guys know I'm not a huge Tyler Reese fan.
Correct. I did not know. I can take her leave him.
But is it the gimmick or his work? I think it's the gimmick. Okay. I think it's the gimmick because he's a great worker.
When he wanted to tag with Seth Rollins and wanted to call them cross fit breezes,
that was gold. I said, you know what? That just happened. That just happened.
And then the big frilly and the look on Seth Rollins face when he said it was worth its weight in gold.
Well, the funny part is, do you think they told him ahead of time? Because it looked like he was,
yeah, I don't know that he did. He was trying desperately not to lose. Are we ever going to see
the other Singh brother again? What's going on there? No, I have no idea.
And when Owens called Mahal his guru, was that a shot at impact with that horrible Josh Matthews
Sanjay Dutt gimmick thing? I know it was Evan Bourne, whatever he's knee is now. Yeah, Matt Sidel.
Yeah. I was super excited Matt Sidel. I was wondering if that was a shot.
Yeah. Maybe not intentionally. Because it's it's an overuse term anyways.
Even though we all found out why they did it, I kind of liked having the Kevin Owens show on the
side of the stage instead of in the ring. Yeah, there was something kind of nice and old school
about that. Now, guys, we knew it was because Bron was going to pop up from underneath and wreck
everything, but still. So as we talked about last week, we know that the that the federation is
now hacking our tweets or hacking our text messages, which is why I can't tell you things I
think of anymore. It's over in person. What would stop Bron from cashing in tomorrow night?
That's never been established. The just was we know that Owens complaining that he shouldn't
be allowed to cash in before the show to give him his opportunity. But what's going to stop?
Well, what if he catches in tomorrow night? What does that do to the match next Sunday?
You know, it's not going to happen, but again, give me the book in the checkbook for a year.
No, no, no. And what in God's name was that BT music? What is going on? I have no, I have no
answers. Trying to find ways to save money. But it's hilarious. That theme song is nothing short of
stupidly hilarious. And where are these two have been for the last five years I need to know?
Well, they've been around in bad gimmicks. This thing is firing on all cylinders for me.
And it shouldn't be because this is basically the spirit squad 2.0. But this works.
Well, no, even the spirit squad kind of worked. It was just annoying. This bit is hilarious.
Now, speaking of spirit squad, should we just pivot into the ICT title? Not yet. Okay.
Michael Cole. Michael Cole. Michael Cole.
You know how I am with grammar and syntax. I want to shirt this as I don't judge people based on
the raid race, creed or culture. I judge them based on sentence structure spelling and grammar.
Yes. I can see these guys one day being future tag team champions.
Isn't technically everybody future tag team champions until they are? Well, yes and no.
Well, you know, now that the B team are champs, yes, they are. Yeah, it's fair.
I did like with the bit with the leaders of the world showing up as the tag team partners in
the course. I thought that was pretty neat. I enjoyed that very much. Does anybody really buy the
Hayman split thing? Unless you know something I don't. Because I'm not buying this. That entire
interview with Hayman, this was me. Yeah. That's it's just I hope that this that this is the true
cell for this and this is what exits Lesnar out and it keeps Hayman there. Right. I want Hayman
to always be there as long as he wants to be there because he is the best. You know what? I'm
going to go for a weird place for this and follow me along this. He's the best showman in the company,
right? I agree. But he's always been that way. Yeah. I'll tell you that first interview he did with
Austin on his podcast where he goes through his entire story. Oh, yeah. Of how like he literally
just fell into the business. Yes. I mean, I've always been a fan of Paulie even back in the NWA days.
Like, but my favorite is the story about the phone. Yes. Please, please. I don't remember the whole
thing of it, but just all I remember is seeing him as part of the war games and he's carrying a
cordless phone, not a cellular phone, a cordless phone. Well, it's supposedly they wanted him to look
like the sleazy agent type and nobody had a cordless phone because nobody was getting paid well in
cell phone. No, excuse me. Nobody had a, nobody had a, nobody had a cellular phone because nobody
was paid well enough. So he just grabbed the nearest phone and I don't even think it was a cordless.
I think it was when he took the cord off. No, it was a cordless phone because they had to have the
antenna. That's right. The antenna was there. And why are we shooting this Viking thing in every
week with Sarah Logan? We get it. Move on. Uh, there's war Raiders. That's going to be your endgame
for us. Well, don't forget her. I'm very happy and cute couple. And is this, is this the first time
that we ever flashed somebody's shirt on screen that they were wearing as an ad for shop?
That was weird to me. I think they tried it before, but it didn't work. And by the way,
it's another Michael Cole. It was Alicia Fox that tapped not Alexa Bliss. So just, just a note.
They're not two, they're not the same person. So in news that while might be interesting to the
general. Okay. We're going to talk a little bit about all in and we've got to figure out how we're
going to do that. We may just have to watch it on Labor Day. Well, I am thinking of bringing my
Apple to plug into something to stream it wherever it may be. We may just have to watch it in the
overnight or something. Exactly. Because you know, we're going to have a four hour or three hour
cosplay dance party in the middle of the night of Who Need Sleep. Well, uh, before we get off the
company, I did see something. Do you realize that at Summerslam, for the last 10 years,
there has always been a Miz or a Dolph? Really? 10 years at Summerslam. But we're going to get into
something that somebody, maybe that was mentioned last week. Let me scroll down a little bit here,
because there was something that was mentioned. And I don't know, we talked about the last, oh no,
it's this week that we're going to talk about it, but it ties to that. So all in, going to be September
1st, Christopher Daniels versus Stephen Amell, the undefeated Stephen Amell. It's happening.
I could not be happier. And it will be available to ROH Honor Club members, which is how we're going
to be watching it. But this is this is what this is Labor Day weekend. Yeah. We're working on a
plan. We're working on a plan. They should have checked my calendar. We're working on a plan.
I thought I had value to them. You got it. You got to just roll with this. We're working on a plan.
And you're going to be available for ROH Honor Club members also on FightTV if you get it that way.
But there will also be a pre show called Zero Hour on WGN America, the local, which I'm very
intrigued by because WGN is a Sinclair Broadcasting company. And with the issues that Sinclair
is having right now, because now the sale is not happening. And there's some trash talk going
on on both sides of that particular deal. I don't want to talk about movies yet.
But the other part is is that apparently New Japan is working on a deal to also stream.
Oh, really? Good. New Japan world.
Colt Cabana suing CM Punk for $1.2 million after the lawsuit that they just went through.
Because Cabana had, I guess, assumed that punk was going to pay his legal fees.
Not so much.
Supposedly Cabana has texts that where punk multiple times says, don't worry, you're good.
We got this. I got the bills. I got the bills. And then an email from punk saying,
good luck you're on your own for half. So allegedly.
And a strange story coming this week saying Jericho being destined was the word I read for
Impact. He has talked a lot about wanting to work with Don Callis again, who is the impact guy
at this point. Not to mention there is the whole bit that's been going back and forth between
Jericho and Sammy Callahan, who is a big. But they're having the match on the cruise, correct?
No. Callahan is a big Marty Skirl. Interesting. Yeah. So there may be something that is added later.
I mean, we got a couple of months to get there. Okay. But Jericho. 60 days out. Yeah, Jericho right now
has either a one-on-one with Omega and the six-man tag where he teams with the bucks against Omega.
And who are the other two that is with Omega? I can't remember all pain. Is it the Tongans?
No. No. No. No. The Tongans are not involved. Okay.
The new... I knew there were some issues there. Yeah.
Yeah. Anybody on the firing squad is not on the boat at all. Okay. All right.
But there is a six-man tag. Oh. No. Omega got pulled out of that six-man tag in favor of
Abushi because he is facing Pentagon one-on-one. Okay. Which would be a great show. Bobby Fish now set
to return him either November or December from his injuries. That's something I'll say.
Renee Young and Beth Phoenix are your commentary team for the Mae Young Classic.
They did all the tapings except of course the finals will happen at Evolution but all the tapings
have happened this week and those matches will air weekly leading up to Evolution.
Port Tegan Knox. Yeah. Tegan Knox broke her leg during her match and she tried to continue
on the broken leg. Oh, you know she did. Oh, no, no. She made it like a good two, three minutes and
just couldn't. Okay. And we talked about coach not being on RAW tomorrow night because Renee Young
will be at the table the first time a woman has been full-time as an announcer on RAW. Oh, wow.
Very excited for the Renee Young. And they have the right person. Yes. And not only Tegan
Knox breaks her leg with someone else of the women's division has injured herself as she's
preparing to return. Maria Canalis has broken her wrist. Oh. So a couple of Smackdown live notes
to the Iconics to say Becky is always a bridesmaid never a champion. She was the Smackdown
live women's champion for a good chunk of time. So the original right. So the initial. Let's tap
that. That was unstable. It was unstable. Yeah. Are we talking about the same thing? Nope. No. Okay.
Uh, Aiden English. This thing is, yeah, it's over my head now. This Aiden English thing is
getting really awkward. So congrats to them on doing the job properly.
Because that's really what that is. Yeah. Uh, let's see. Miz. I am a secretive Miz fan.
No, you're not. But let me give you what could be the burn of the year on WWE programming.
The first two and this is a quote. The first two episodes of Miz and Mises had better ratings
than all of season three of Total Bellas. I was on the couch going.
Oh, did we get numbers? I don't have numbers to back that up. But that statement alone was worth it.
Oh, Miz has all his MTV followers. Yeah. And for those of you that didn't catch this statement
on Smackdown live, it's been eight years since the first NXT bit. Since the Daniel Bryan. Before
Nexus, when it was just NXT, when it was, no, it was a competition that happened on Raw
with developmental talent, where Miz was his pro. That was eight years ago. I thought it was longer.
And if you have not watched Smackdown live, and you're going to hear me say something that's
going to be a little shocking, so prepare yourself. So we call a hot sports opinion.
Racing self, racing self, racing self.
The main event on Smackdown, the finals of the tag team tournament.
Uh-huh. The very, the awesome chant was earned.
I can't tell you the last time I said a Smackdown live match could be in contention for
match of the year. Well, you had the right day and the bar. Go back if you haven't. They gave
them 30 minutes. Go back and watch that match. But everybody in that match are the people that
know how to do work. But again, you still have to book it right. That match was flawless from
beginning to end. There were a lot of false finishes and it didn't bother me. They told a story.
There were moves that turned into counter moves that were gorgeous. Go back and watch that match.
And if it's not on somebody's list for match of the year, there's, it's a travesty of American
history. Because I remember I texted you and I was like, dude, yeah, this main event's insane.
Such a great match.
Anything you guys have for wrestling talk? Did you have something that you wanted to mention?
Or do we cover it out? That was the summer slam. Okay, because the 10 years of Dolph and or
Miz. All right, so let's go ahead and get into movie talk. So this I can make my computer do what
I want it to do. No, no, no, no, no, no. Let's go to your box office numbers provided by our
friends at box office mojo dropping out of the top 10 this week. Incredibles two drops from 9 to 11
with $3.5 million, $5 weeks, $590 million, they're going to be okay.
The darkest of minds quickly drops from 8 to 13. And I really want to see this too. This saddens me.
$2.1 million, $2 weeks, $11 million, $34 million budget.
Let's see. Teen Titans go to the movies. Drops from 10 to 15 this week.
Okay, $1.7 million, $25.6 million, $10 million budget. That's worth probably still not going to
be in the red in the black due to marketing, but still an impressive showing. Still want to see it.
Dog days, debuts in 12th place. That would be iTunes exclusive 410. Dropping from 7 to 10 this week,
Ant-Man on the Wasp, another $4.1 million, $6 weeks, $203 million. I told you we'd give you an
update on Skyscraper. Skyscraper domestic right at $67 million or no, $66.2
$215.4 million. And what was that budget?
$125. That's what's going to make it funny, but not domestically. Yeah, but they don't care
about domestically. Those companies are making and that's the world we live in right now.
Dropping from, dropping from 6 to 9 this week is hotel Transylvania 3 summer vacation,
$5.1 million, $5 weeks, $146.9 million on an $80 million budget. So it picked up steam as time
went on, because we were saying when it released, I'm really, but it's picked up steam. Still my
least favorite of the franchise, but equalizer two still in the top five after four weeks dropping
from $5 to $8, $5.5 million, $4 weeks, $89.7 million on a $62 million budget. So Skyscraper
still needs to make some more money, but it's going to be okay. Mama Mia, here we go again,
which I helped support this weekend. Drops from 4 to 7, $4 weeks, $103.8 million, $75 million
budget. So Devon's just going to have to accept the fact that this will be a franchise.
The spy who dumped me came out last week. Drops from 3 to 6 this week, $6.6 million, $2 weeks,
$24.6 million, $40 million budget. Yeah, it's going to be a tough deal. Black clansman,
iTunes exclusive 4.11, debuts in 5th place this week, $10.8 million, $15 million budget.
And I'm just going to go ahead and say it because we saw this movie like a month ago,
and I've been waiting for it this entire time. So spoiler alert in 3, 2, 1.
Best work spikes done in over 20 years. There's a lot of reports coming up that it's
the best work period. 98% on rotten tomatoes right now. Actually, let me double check that.
And I've got people that are posting all over that this is life changing,
everyone needs to see this. Well, it's a true story. That's the crazy part. I haven't seen that
really. 97% on rotten tomatoes right now. It's amazing. Amazing. But go listen to our special
edition here's talking more about it. Slender man, debuts in 4th place, $11.3 million, $10 million
budget. So good luck with all that. Disney's Christopher Robin drops from the silver metal to the
bronze metal, $12.4 million, $2 weeks, $50 million. I do not have a budget on that. Mission impossible
fallout drops from the gold metal to the silver metal this week with another $20 million,
$3 weeks, $162 million, $178 million budget. I will guarantee you forwards probably. Let's
see what the foreign is on that. I mean, it's going to make up for a way big time. That's a great
movie. And we also like to call that iTunes exclusive 404, $275 foreign. So it's closing in on 450
million worldwide. And winning the weekend, debuting with $44.5 million on a $130 million budget,
shut up, Meg. You saw it. What do you think? It was ridiculous. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Chad and Don both enjoyed it. I told you it was before 12. It was fun, but it's absolutely
ridiculous. No, and if you want to know my choice from the sensational shionny was between the
Meg and Slender man. So I got that going for me. I'm getting some breaking news here.
Interesting. Go on. Samuel L. Jackson and Colby Smolders have joined Spider-Man far from home.
I didn't think that was new. I thought they were already in touch. I hadn't seen it.
Well, they may have been in talks and it's signed now. One step closer to getting everything
back to where it needs to be. So let's start with the Oscars.
Very confused right now. I want to hear a better explanation on this. Okay, so the Oscars first of
all have said they are making a conservative effort to keep the show no longer than three hours.
That's a win. Because there's going to be certain awards that will be given away during
commercial breaks with abbreviated versions of the speeches on board with that. But they're adding
a new award this year. I thought it was multiple. The big one that they're talking about is outstanding
achievement in popular film. Is it going to be who's getting some redundancy there? What this stems from
is people complaining that the dark night was not nominated for best picture. That was how many years
ago? Decay to go. They're not wrong. It's the academy. They're not up on the time. By the way, nice
shirt. Thank you. Thank you very much. And by the way, it's reflective too. The bad symbol is
reflective. Yes, Rob is making sure we know that man is here. But the problem that people I've heard a
lot of talk about this. The problem that people is going to face is let's say a film like Black
Panther wins this. Well, then why isn't it nominated for best picture? I think a better way to do
this would be to leave one spot open in the best picture category and have that voted on by the
public. Do it that way. Are we sure that's not what they're doing? No, this is a separate award.
I don't know. I understand that. But is this the separate award for popular vote? But it's
its own award. That's what I'm saying. You're saying it needs to be part of best picture.
You're saying it needs to be part of best picture and I agree with you. What I'm saying is does
this Oscar fit that role? I don't know how they're going to do this. They haven't said how they're
going to do it. And it's just weird. And I think it just the Oscars have never been about the summer
blockbuster thriller action movie. Is this why you know know what the point of the award is for?
Is this the MPAA just saying that they're out of touch with the public? Excuse me. No, it's the
Academy. Ampass. Is this the Academy just saying we're out of touch with the popular people?
A decade ago, yeah. In other interesting news that Alex and I were talking about earlier today
with the Disney Fox acquisition, Disney has said that they will be releasing any Fox movies
completed before the acquisition. So yeah, because it's still not going to be done until at least
first of the year. And man of the loss will be the final MCU film available on Netflix as Disney
moves everything to their streaming service. I'm still not paying for it. This city of lies thing.
City of lies is a movie about it's another one of these stories about the Tupac Biggie thing.
Johnny Depp was in it. It's being taken off of open road schedule.
Lest and they're not confirming or denying the coincidence here, but it's less than a month after
the film's location manager has sued Johnny Depp for assault and battery from an incident where
Depp allegedly hit a guy named Greg Rocky Brooks after being informed that the location they were at
was going to rap late. I just don't know if we need to start again. Didn't watch it on USA. I'm not
going to watch it now. I mean, if there's a screening, I'll go, but it's off the schedule. It's
taken on the Bigfoot thing. You know what? They don't find when they look for Bigfoot. Bigfoot. Bigfoot.
So there's nothing new. Yeah. There is a Lizzie Borden biopic. General
is just something you're interested in. Yeah. And it's going to start a Chloe Sevinny and Kristen
Stewart. Oh. The poster looks really creepy. It's Sevinny facing left and Kristen Stewart kind of
looking at her over his shoulder and Sevinny's shadow forms an axe. Yeah, I may wait until someone
else views this to see if it's a I'm out or it's a Lizzie Borden story in the firm into it.
Let me give you a couple of concepts. We love Bloom House. Did you do great work? We love
Bloom House's model, but as much. What if I told you Bloom House wants to reboot as a film?
Welcome to Fantasy Island. Well, they're Charlie's Angels. I mean, that wasn't Bloom House though.
I know. I know. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. But Bloom House being known for films like
Upgrade. The Saw Franchise. It sounds like the opposite of a fantasy. Well, but if you,
I mean, I remember the show, I remember the show, and there were some episodes that were pretty
creepy. There were there were some of those that went to the dark and creepy side. So I'm kind of
intrigued by this, but yet don't want because remember, you piano, and when it was a thing,
they tried to reboot Fantasy Island and the love boat. Both of those failed. Yeah. Love boat,
the new voyage. I never saw the love boat, but I did watch the fantasy sounds. And even those
were kind of all that dark, sir. Exciting in you. Come aboard. We're expecting you.
And Ben Schwartz will be the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog. Why? Because movies.
You know what the worst part is? I'm just waiting for the argument where he shows up
in costume for an audio job. I'm here. I'm Mr. Schwartz. We're going to need to take the
mascot head off. But no, how are you going to shoot me? No, we just need to do the voice, Ben.
I can't get through the dogs. Moving you releases in places you see moving you releases this week,
Alpha, which I wish. I mean, being on the road this week, I'm going to miss all the screenings,
this being one of them. I'm actually looking forward to this. I think this looks great. I don't
know how I feel about this. Haven't they been advertising it just subtly since the new year?
With the Cody Smith McFee. An epic adventure set in the last Ice Age. Alpha tells a fascinating
visually stunning story that shines a light on the origins of man's best friend. Probably
written by the studio. I'm just going to say that. Also, this week, Crazy Rich Asians. I really
am looking forward to this as well. I saw the preview for it. This looks great. The contemporary
romantic comedy based on a global bestseller follows native New Yorker Rachel Chu. It's a Singapore
to meet her boyfriend's family. Concepts, Wu, Michelle Yao, Gemma Chan, the oh, man. I have to say this
again. Aquafina is in this. Ken Jong is in this Jimmy O Yang is in this. This looks great.
The preview is fun. Also, this week, Gen Rome going to take one for the team. I'm very proud of
her for that because she is going to be at the Army of Darkness screening on Wednesday night.
And in doing so, gave up going to the screening of mile 22. So I personally greatly appreciate that
because he has a transformer in the band. An elite American intelligence officer aided by a top
secret tactical command unit tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive
information out of the country. Lauren Cohan, Mark Wahlberg, Ronda Rousey, John Malkovich, Peter
Berg all in this. It looks good. That's a great cast. That looks good. What about the one I'm doing on
Monday? I don't know if I've gotten there yet. I'm not there yet. It's on the list. Sassy. Of course I am.
I have to go in the order I see him on Rotten Tomatoes. Sorry. Oh, that does not bowed well.
I think I don't think there's an order to it. Oh, okay. See, I thought you were talking about
starting at the good and going. No, no, it's not done by rating. Probably alphabetical. Also,
this week, a movie called The Wife with Glenn Close, Jonathan Price is in this, Max Irons,
Christian Slater, Elizabeth McGovern. A wife questions her life choices as she travels to
Stockholm with her husband, where he's slated to receive the Nobel Prize for literature.
I saw the preview on this. And actually, one of the cool things is Glenn Close's daughter plays
the younger version of, so it's done with some flashbacks and things. The daughter is playing
the mother as a younger version. And it actually, it looked really good on the preview for it, too.
The life of a musician blaze fully being portrayed by Ethan, directed and starring Ethan Hawke
this week. I wish I could go to this screening because Ethan Hawke's going to be there for Q&A.
So a lot of talk about this one as well. Let's see. Also, go ahead. The name on that one.
The title. The title. Oh, sorry. I guess he's in two then.
There's also another version of the little mermaid releasing this week with Sherry McClane.
Joe Marie Payton, Gina Gershon. I got nothing. Is this the messed up horror one they're doing?
I can't tell for sure. It says a new twist on the classic tale. Looks like it takes place at a carnival.
A young reporter at his knees discover a beautiful and enchanting creature they believe to be the
real little mermaid. Verunder? A lot of money. Also, billionaire boys club this week.
With the Ansel Elgort and the Kevin Spacey group and the Terran entered. A group of wealthy
boys in Los Angeles starting the early 80s establish a get rich, quick scheme that turns deadly.
And now to the one that the the the the general was referencing earlier.
Juliet naked rose burn and then that's the other movie with Ethan Hawke this week. That's why I didn't. Yeah, that's true.
And Chris O'Dowd Juliet naked is the story of Annie the longtime suffering girlfriend of Duncan
and her unlikely transatlantic romance with the once revered now faded singer songwriter Tucker Crowe
who also happens to be the subject of Duncan's musical obsession.
So you got that going for you. We the animals. This is another one that's been talked about a lot
and I keep missing the opportunity to check it out. But this is many Joel and Jonah tear their
way through childhood and push against the volatile love of their parents as many and Joel grow into
versions of their father and mod dreams of escape Jonah embraces an imagined world all of his own.
I mean, this looks really, really good. Let's go back and talk about minding the gap. A lot of
movies coming up this week. This is kind of kind of stacked for in for August.
Minding the gap is a documentary about three young men who bond together to escape
volatile families in their rust belt hometown as they face adult responsibilities unexpected
revelations threaten their decade long relationship. And
Doc, if you're listening, we do this for you.
We have a Michael Parais sighting in puppet master the littlest rike. Wow. All hell breaks loose
when a strange force animates the puppets up for auction at a convention setting them on a
bloody killing spree that's motivated by an evil as old as time. This is really a thing.
But that title independent of everything. Yeah.
That's a thing. That hurt. They're here. DVD and Blu-Wright New releases in places you get DVD
and Blu-Wright New releases this week. Adventures Infinity War in this week. Kids,
the physical copy digitally has been available for two weeks. How to talk to girls at parties,
which kind of came and went. Grace Jones, Moonlight and Bam,
friend of the show Devon Pike, very big on this documentary about Grace Jones.
And the criterion collection releases the Ballad of Gregorio Cortez.
So if you're a fan of that film, you've got that going for you. Right there.
All right, Tech Corner this week only one story about Tekken 7.
Megan's going to be a downloadable character.
We got to that one quick.
So you got that going for you. All right, let's go to the list.
But I believe there are also saying that Jeffrey Dean Morgan
did record the lines for the game too.
That's lifted from the show.
Well, there's also that.
All right, let's take talk. I want the list.
Well, we could also shoehorn in. It's either depending on how you look at it, Matt and Week.
It is Matt and Week.
I fell off on the Sega Genesis.
Too many buttons. Wow, too many buttons.
So as we mentioned earlier, coming up this coming Saturday,
the 18th, we're going to be live at Anime Fest in Dallas.
Very much looking forward to that.
So I thought tonight's list, we go over my favorite cartoon shows as a kid.
This was a tough list to write.
And I know I'm going to be losing a lot of stuff off because I had to get it down to 10.
I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid.
Oh, yeah, they had good ones back then.
Number 10, anything super friends.
Although I was more partial to
Battle of the Super Friends when you had the Legion of Doom.
Yes.
And they had the ship that fell into the swamp.
And every superhero had one of their villains as part of it.
But I love Super Friends in general.
And who was the voice of Robin?
Hello, I'm Keiji Keishan.
And I'll be Robin on all of your Batman animated series,
leading up to Paul Dini.
Hey, literally, I wanted to do that just because it's one of the impressions he does well.
My, I'm telling you, my Keiji Keishan is dead on.
He just said it's one that you do well.
Let's say that you do it.
If you knew how to take a compliments or just so used to not getting them from you,
number nine, that's because I, no, if I gave you compliments for everything,
number one, I'd be lying, number two, number two, then they'd be nothing.
That's true.
And number three, the show would never happen because it just beat, you know.
Just us yelling at each other like it turned into last week.
93 and 93.
Number nine, anything loony tunes.
I actually have the, the first three volumes on DVD and the first volume on Blu-ray.
And I actually found it in a limited edition box with a hand-painted bugs bunny shot glass.
Nice.
What's opera doc is the greatest cartoon short of all time.
There's a reason I have the Funko pops at work.
I can't believe they didn't do one of the horse.
It's very depressing.
Yet, but you got to speak it out into the world.
That's right. I didn't see the Funko announced this week that they're going to do
doing a black and white Alfred Hitchcock.
So number number eight, because we got to work some anime in here.
Star Blazers.
I love Star Blazers so much.
Also known in Japan as Space Battleship Yamato, which was turned into a live action film,
which closed the Dallas International Film Festival the first year we covered it.
I enjoyed it.
It's really cheesy and there's this really horrible,
actually Stephen Tyler song sung over the end credits.
But it's worth the Blu-ray.
It just is.
Number seven, depending on who you are, G-Force, Battle of the Planets.
I loved that show so much.
They tried to do a revival of it.
It just wasn't the same.
But they did a Battle of the Planets comic series in the early 2000s,
and Alex rosted all the covers.
I have them.
I have them all.
Number six, and this is one that's actually caused a little bit of controversy
on this show in the past.
Mask.
Mask was an acronym,
so for mobile armored strike command with a K.
This was a hybrid of
Transformers meets.
I guess you could just call it Cannonball Run,
because these were cars that were actually weaponized,
but they were manned by humans.
And all of the humans had masks that had,
I wouldn't say they were powered masks,
but they each did their own cool thing.
Okay.
Like they had their niche, and it was the first
cartoon series I can remember watching that wasn't Japanese,
because the Japanese were always very good at telling stories.
But there were story threads that ran all the way through the series,
and you can't get the complete series on Blue Ray yet,
but you can get the complete series on DVD,
and I loved this show.
And I remember the theme song.
Maskrews, saders, fighting over time,
fighting crime,
fighting crime, secret raiders,
that will neutralize,
soon as they arise at the site.
And then tracker, they say,
tracker's going to lead to mission.
Matt tracker was the leader of mask,
and his mask was called Spectrum.
Yeah, I loved it.
What's everything about it?
But they were definitely capitalizing on Transformers,
because it came after.
Number five, some will argue Rob,
this should be higher on your list,
knowing you, but I had to put it here.
Tiny Tune Adventures.
Tiny Tunes.
They're tiny.
They're tuning.
They're all a little looney.
And in this cartoon,
we're ruining your TV.
That's right.
Tiny Tunes was what kind of got me back into watching cartoons full time.
Because Tiny Tunes was the first time I remember a series of its ilk,
trying to appeal beyond its normal target demographic.
Yeah, it was not meant for heroes to come here.
With jokes that the adults watching it with the kids could get,
but it was still not so adult that the kids would be like,
what does that mean?
You know, it's like, I remember one of my favorite moments is
then it was produced by Spielberg.
They come back from a break,
and it was an episode where plucky had been abducted by aliens.
And they come back from break,
and they're all standing around the table drinking coffee and eating donuts.
And Buster goes,
so what's the duck making before points?
And then they look and they realize that the cameras are like,
oh, we got to go save plucky!
I was like, I don't know what this is, but I love it.
It's the only one I remember from that would be the plucky and an elevator.
Oh, the baby plucky.
Yes.
Eleleates are go up.
Eleleates are stop.
Eleleates are go down.
And then the toilet.
I want to flush it again.
Because that was Sherry Stoner who was the big voice,
heard Andrea Romano,
or the big forces behind that.
That was Sherry's kid.
Oh, wow.
And just when they did the spring break special,
which I have on video,
and when they did Tiny Toons music television,
and the first video,
are you talking about VHS?
I haven't a VHS.
Because I taped it, because I haven't body yet.
But they did a music television episode,
where the first two songs where they might be giant songs.
They did Particle Man,
and the purpose of Particle Man was plucky,
was a wrestler.
And he just keeps getting the crap beat out of him,
and Hampton is like the announcer,
and he's the one singing the song.
And then they did Istanbul, not Constantinople.
And it's brilliant.
And then yeah, I do remember that.
And they introduce them.
Hi, I'm Bab's Bunny.
Hi, I'm Buster Bunny,
and I'm not wearing pants.
Like, I love that show.
And they did a spring break,
and they also did a summer vacation one.
The spring break one, I loved,
because El Myra thought that Buster was the Easter Bunny.
And she ran into Tommy Lee Jones.
I remember that one.
His character from The Fugitive.
And he's like, I need you to help me.
And he's like, Lady, I don't bargain.
And she says, I have Harrison Ford in a cage at my house.
He's like, you got yourself me a little lady.
Like, I, that, and plucky,
traveling with Hampton's family.
And because Hampton's a pig,
his entire family was, they weren't Jewish,
but they weren't saying they weren't.
And they finished the plucky duck.
Welcome to the trip.
I love that show so much.
I got the first two DVD sets, I think.
Number four, original Voltron.
The cars was way too wheels off for me.
And Lego just announced they are releasing
a Voltron Lego set,
where you will construct the lions individually
and then put them together to form Voltron.
That's clever.
180 dollars.
They're also about to release the James Bond Lego
Aston Martin.
160 dollars.
Because Lego.
Number three in the bronze mental position,
the aforementioned Voltron Transformers.
The original.
I do have the blue ray of the 30th anniversary of the movie.
And I, I mean, I love Transformers before it was a cartoon.
The whole concept of that.
Except for I got a Transformer in the back.
Number two.
Because you knew it was going to be in one of the top two slots,
Batman and the animated series.
That show is just so brilliant.
It's so well done.
Well, it changed the game.
Do you remember the subtle thing that it did that no other show had done before?
It killed characters.
No, no, no, no, both sides.
I meant just from an appearance standpoint.
I know something.
Okay, so every animated show was done on a white background.
Yes.
Batman and the animated series because it was dark was done on black paper.
Yep.
To make it look that much darker when they did it.
And it was something like, you can't see it.
It's on black paper.
It's like, no, you make everything else pop.
And it was so brilliantly done and gave us, and I'm going to say it,
the best Batman and the best Joker.
And we're less than 60 days from the entire series on blue ray.
Now it's cross street.
Okay, that's our problem.
I'm going to get you to hear that somebody's car alarms going on offside.
But I don't know if you saw, but the blue race set comes with three mini funco pops.
Oh.
Batman, Joker and Harley.
That was the first appearance of Hartley Quinn.
Was it not?
Yes, it was.
She was actually written for the show because Bruce, either Bruce Timmer,
Paul Dinek and Richard was homesick one day,
just in a delirious fog and happened to be watching days of our lives.
And it was a Halloween party episode.
And Arlene Sorkin was dressed in a Harley Quinn outfit.
And he was like, that should totally be a character.
And then she actually voiced the character.
Right.
And they specifically created the character for her.
And now it's a worldwide phenomenon.
I remember our discussion on Harley Quinn and Harley Quinn.
And that's how the whole thing happened.
It's a great, there's a great episode of Fat Man on Batman,
where they talk about that very early on.
And number one, a lot of people would tell me,
Rob, why isn't Batman, the anime is series number one.
And they're one of them.
And an argument could be made for that.
But I'm a Batman fan before the animated series.
My Batman fandom goes back very early in life.
There's photo evidence of me at two or three
for Halloween.
As Batman, my mother made me a costume that had a working utility belt.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, mom.
That's awesome.
My mom's pretty dope when it comes to being a seamstress.
So you can't really pin that on Batman, the animated series.
Because I love Batman 66.
I mean, that was my Batman as a young child.
So you can't put that at number one.
Because when it comes to my favorite cartoon series of all time,
there is only guess you can more of the welcome to.
Would you like to take a look at it?
Let me pull the soundboard back out.
I'm not even going to try.
Alex?
I think, well, is this specifically from older or overall?
You have to make a guess.
I'm not going to give you clues.
I would say family guy.
Family guy, an honorable mention.
I very much enjoy family guy.
But I do not own any more any family guy DVDs.
Yes, that I wouldn't even try, yes.
Little show called Animaniacs.
See, that is my favorite cartoon show of all time.
I was wondering if that was going to be on the list.
Because as much as Tiny Toons did for me,
I don't have videotape after videotape after videotape in this house right down the hallway
of recording Tiny Toons every day.
I have a few.
I have every episode of Animaniacs ever.
Recorded to VHS in some cases with commercials.
Because I set my VCR to record every day from 4 to 4 30
on Fox 33 or Fox 39 back then in Florida.
And some days I was home and some days I wasn't.
So some of those tapes do have the commercials in them.
Well, and you see, the funny thing is as I thought Animaniacs was the one that did the
Istanbul was constant to Noeple.
No, that was Tiny Toons.
But they were in that same area.
Yeah, well, it was the same team, right?
When you have a character named Dot Warner.
And for those of you that don't know, that was Warner Brothers.
Before it was Warner Brothers, they were called Dot Warner Entertainment.
Because if you look at the old school Warner Brothers logo, there's a Dot right next to it.
The things that show got away with.
I go to a couple of them in reference.
There's an episode of Slapy Squirrel where Slapy, a lot of Slapy Squirrel's issue is she had her nephew.
And he's just nuts.
Well, she showed him because they couldn't use the name Bumbi about a deer.
She showed him that movie.
And he freaked out when Bumbi's mom died.
So every time it came up, it freaked him out.
Well, they're on a plane.
Somebody mentions Bumbi's mom.
Kid starts crying.
Slapy breaks the fourth wall.
Looks at the camera.
Here's your nephew's name is Skippy.
She looks at the camera and says Pavlov would love this kid.
I lose my cool.
I'm like, there is no seven-year-old on God's green earth.
It's going to get that reference.
I love this show.
There's a lot that that show got away with.
And I'm a little disappointed that Chad's not here for the one that I remember most distinctly.
Oh, the fingerprints.
The detective episode.
Yeah, because we talked about that.
The fingerprints.
And it was like, good night, everybody.
Yeah.
Whenever there was something that floored it with double entendre,
it would just be Jaco.
Or no, it was Jaco just looking at the camera.
Good night, everybody.
Yeah.
But I love the weird morality, the bully prince.
Also, one of my favorites in that same episode,
where it was like, have you seen anything weird lately?
And Slapy, again, Slapy says,
saw Wally Gator slam dance with a smurf.
Is that weird enough for you?
Yeah.
You know, I just,
have you ever seen the episode where they parody Apocalypse Now?
I want to say it's the entire episode.
Yeah, they don't, they don't, there's no segments.
The entire episode is their parody of Apocalypse Now.
And it's Waco as Martin Sheen, right?
No, no.
Well, yeah, yes.
No, it's Jaco as Martin Sheen.
Jaco as Martin Sheen.
Waco is, uh,
Martin is, uh,
I can't believe I'm drawing a blank on his name.
Larry Fishburn?
That's not what I was going to say.
He's in that movie.
Yes, he is.
He lied about his age to get in that movie.
But one of the things I love is,
you know, because in Apocalypse Now, they use the doors,
the end all the way through it.
Well, the way they do it in what they call hearts of twilight
is this is the beginning,
the beginning of our story,
the beginning.
And they do that all the way through.
This is the second part of the beginning.
And as they're,
and what they're do is they're tasked to go to,
though, to a far point of the Warner Brothers lot,
where a director has lost his mind.
Yes.
And as they're driving the golf cart,
Waco is on top of the golf cart doing the Tai Chi.
And they get there.
And the director is a bald Jerry Lewis.
And when he's talking and he's not facing them,
he's very, very,
and he turns around and goes,
Oh, it's the puppies that have come to see me.
That show is just nothing short of mind blowing on a connect.
I can't give you an episode of anime next that I don't love.
The good pigeons and the good feathers.
Did you ever see when they did an entire episode
and it was a parody of West Side Story?
Yes.
There's room on this statue for you.
I mean, come on.
Slapy, I mean, I threw a hello nurse down the other day,
completely went over the room.
It's like you people make me sad.
Well, that's how sound travels.
Yeah.
I mean, and it did.
It traveled clean through it.
But that's it's my favorite show of all time.
It's my favorite cartoon show ever.
Because I can go right now because I've got two of the three box sets.
I can go in the living room right now,
pop in a DVD of Animaniacs and it's a good day.
And I even had the separate ones they did just for pinky and the brain.
Because remember, pinky and the brain ended up getting their own show for a minute.
And they crossed over with El Maira, which was really weird for me.
Yeah, it's like they basically got to the point of like,
we're all Warner Brothers stuff.
So it's just blended.
And who was the voice of El Maira?
Go for it.
I'm going to scream summer from a different world.
Okay.
It was the voice of El Maira.
That was not the direction I was going to get.
Two of the greatest shows of our time.
We need more like, again,
I gave your Rick and Morty a try.
I can't see.
Oh, no, no, you did not give it a try.
It just happened to be on.
And I'm sitting there looking your list.
And there's ones like Scooby-Doo.
See, I like Scooby-Doo.
I didn't love Scooby-Doo.
How did he not include Scooby-Doo when he could do his KC case?
I'm again.
Well, I could say that I was on that show too.
The only thing I really, really dug about Scooby-Doo
is when they did the Scooby-Doo movies,
when then you had Batman, Robin.
This KC was there.
And also the Harlem Globetrotters and Don Knotts.
Like, I was into those.
Okay, and then what were some of these?
There was always a Captain Caveman.
I liked Captain Caveman.
I didn't love Captain Caveman.
Now, what I did like Captain Caveman being involved in
was the Laugh Olympics.
Well, that's not going to say it was always the...
Wacky Racers.
Yeah, all the, like, we are the stars,
but there's all the animated ones with Penelope Pitstop
and her little...
That would be Wacky Racers.
Wacky Racers is one of Chad's favorite of all time.
But I always like that.
And then what was the one with Deadly Do Right?
That was Deadly Do Right.
That was Do Right, but that was part of the
of the Rocky and Bullwink Gold universe,
where you had fractured fairy tales,
and the adventures of Mr. Peabody and his pet boy Sherman,
which I liked that movie that DreamWorks did a few years ago.
I very much enjoyed that film.
I've heard good things about the Netflix series,
but they did a film and I really enjoyed that film.
Yeah, now I remember your review.
I got to throw Hong Kong Fooie in.
Again, Hong Kong Fooie, number one super guy.
And I would put Hong Kong Fooie and Underdog,
kind of in the same...
That's fair.
Yeah, and I also...
But they were also part of bigger shows too.
Yes.
I don't say that I love them,
but the ones from our parents' childhood,
where it was the home of the future and all the different,
those were always cool to see what they thought
science would be like in 30, 40,
and you're like...
Yeah, well, no, no, no, I'm not talking the Jetsons.
I'm talking like, this is like,
you go through the home of the future
and you push a button and your meal pops out.
But it's not quite the Jetsons,
because it's still in 1950s home.
Yeah, I just...
A lot of people were probably going to listen to this
and they're going to say,
given your nickname,
why isn't the Flintstones on the list.
I enjoyed the Flintstones.
You know, I was going to bring that up
because I'm looking straight at the bottom line
that somebody asked me.
I didn't think it was why you had that nickname.
It's not.
Yeah.
But I have amassed a lot of
gear towards BamBam over the years.
Would you really go back?
And I don't know if you can even have access to some of this.
But they talk about it on Bob and Tom quite a bit.
Where...
Go back and...
If you can find it,
when the Flintstones were using Barney and Fred
to do commercials for cigarettes.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Pond, they got a great taste to them.
I agree for it.
No, no.
I mean, again, I enjoyed the Flintstones.
I remember when they, you know,
they did the Flintstones
and then you had the animated
partridge family and outer space.
Too much crossing the streams.
Even that sound bit was from that era.
Yeah, exactly.
But that's why that wouldn't have been on that list.
Because again,
I like what it gave me.
Right.
But not one of my favorites of all time.
And that's fine.
That's why we have these lists
in the discussions because
variety is the spice of life.
And I don't know if it's just an age gap thing
or whatever, but probably number one on my list,
almost unquestioned would be Archer.
But the question I never watched at this time, right?
Definitely not.
I didn't say it was my favorite cartoon shows as a kid.
See, now that one I have every season of
like the Rick and Morty, but I have it in digital form.
Well, I'm sure that's probably a better show too.
I'm sorry, I can't do it.
You literally saw the worst episode.
But you didn't change the channel.
You didn't say Rob,
but I came as you watched this because it's not indicative of the show.
You know what?
I'm going to irritate you.
Even the worst episode of Rick and Morty
is better than Family Guy.
Okay, the roommate's son.
No, because neither one of those episodes
were as good as the family episode.
You're going to be a guy episode that aired after it.
That is also fair.
The roommate's son was over last weekend
and was watching Bob's Burger.
So I've now seen Bob's Burger.
Bob's Burger is a great show.
I did.
And did it.
And did a Rick and Morty
and it's one where they like
time travel or something.
That's all of them.
That's all they get.
Well, no, no, but they go back and they see themselves.
That's all of them.
But the sister goes or the...
They do that in a lot of them.
Okay, and there's like an Amazon...
Yeah, that's the second episode you made me sit through.
It's the multi-universe.
No, that is not.
Okay, I don't know.
It's the multi-verse.
There's different ricks and mortis throughout.
I was working at the same time.
This is already killing time.
Totally paying attention.
It's all the same.
I'm not afraid to say it.
I did not enjoy it.
Well, that's because you're an old man who doesn't get new stuff.
That's okay.
But they did mention the Sengwan sauce.
The Sengwan sauce, yes.
That was a...
I respect that.
I respect that.
Because of what it did.
Still don't care for it.
Deserved the seven season renewal.
For people that like to roll the doobies, yeah.
Well, you know, you can't be as much fun.
I can be more fun now.
Debatable.
I'm always more fun.
Uh, most fun?
No, I'm just kidding.
Most just fun.
Most fun.
So I'm it.
I'm just funnest.
I was calling myself the most fun over here.
Wait, I was having now been in cartoon talk for 25 minutes.
Well, it's technically the list.
That's why I've named tonight's episodes.
We do way too much cartoon talk.
But it's so worth it.
All right, let's do the plugs and get out of here.
Duckdale's Futurama.
Gummy bears.
Now gummy bears.
I will give you credit for gummy bears.
Wait, gummy bears was an actual show.
Bouncing here and there and everywhere.
Yeah, there was a whole thing of Disney.
Disney, Disney, but they weren't like actual, okay.
That gummit.
They weren't candy.
They weren't, they weren't bear bears.
No, no, there was a show called gummy bears.
And they bounced here and there and everywhere.
With adventures that were beyond compare.
Medieval themes.
Shirt tails.
Also great.
But it was, it was kind of like a cheesier version
of the country bears jamboree.
I don't think I was alive yet.
Oh, you were.
You weren't by much.
It wasn't by much, but you were.
Trust me.
And gargoyles and anyway.
I never got to gargoyles.
No, no, I'll co-sign on the gargoyles.
Never got to the gargoyles.
By that point, I was kind of in a different phase
of my cartoon watching career.
We need to wrap up because I could go on for, yeah.
All right, now we can see.
