The Clubhouse – Episode 4

August 3, 2014 Season 5, Episode 4
Read Transcript

Hey, what's up, Empire? It's Rob.
Uh, tonight's episode is dedicated to a young man who left this moral coil way too early.
Chris Coronado.
I first met him 12 years ago when he was just 16 years old working at a sports bar that I'd DJed at for 13 years.
He was too young to be able to serve alcohol so he was a host and became known as Chris the host.
He always had a love of life that reminded us all that being in a bad mood or having any negativity doesn't do any of us any good.
He is one of the most fun people I've ever been around and I even referred to him as one of my little brothers.
He touched the lives of so many people.
As was evident this weekend at our sports bar which was packed to the guilds with people giving well wishes not only to his family, but each other.
Tonight's guests are two other members of this family that we have cultivated over the last 12 years and we will be giving our tributes to him later in the show.
We consider taking tonight off but what we realized is that he would want us to bring you as much laughter and entertainment as we possibly could so the show will go on.
Personally, my brain is not only trying to process what happened two days ago, but even just truly believe that this has happened.
Losing a friend is tough enough, but losing someone who is as close to your own flesh and blood as possible without sharing a parent, well that's just as tough.
We love you, Double C, and we raise a glass to your memory.
We know you're listening up in heaven and you're smiling down on all of us that love you.
The following is a sooner or greater production.
No orange, no orange, no orange.
Good morning!
Let's go!
Hey y'all, I'm bringing heat.
Bees to know how tight it's every week.
Breaking news and I don't even try.
You know it.
How'd you get so popular?
It is 7.14 on the East Coast.
It is 4.14 on the West Coast.
It is the 3rd of August in the year of our Lord 2014.
It is season 5, episode 4, episode 263.
The clubhouse is live and on the air, we welcome each and every one of you individually, no matter how you're listening.
Whether you're listening live on you stream, which we hope somebody is right now.
Because we're not real sure that we're broadcasting up, but we're doing this anyway, because we're also recording it for everybody that listens on iTunes.
If you subscribe, we appreciate that as well.
It looks like we are having technical difficulties, but we're going to keep broadcasting and see if this thing gets fixed.
My name is Rob, and it's definitely August.
And that's what I have to say about that.
We're going to go around the Horn and introduce you to who else is in the room tonight.
Joining me across to Desk, as he tends to do,
is a man who is a man's man,
at least according to his wife who is a British descent, and there might be a conversion chart there.
He is my co-host, he is also an approuser for the show, he is Chad.
Welcome, sir.
Thank you for having me.
I've got some feedback from Don, he's saying that he's now having problems logging in.
Really?
So, but we're going to soldier on, because that's what we do.
And worst case scenario, I'll play it back into you stream later tonight, so it will be in both places, because I'm that dedicated.
Also, joining us across the desk from me tonight, if you know how our studio is set up,
and if you don't, go to our website, there's a picture of it,
is a man that is waiting for the next person to make a hype comment about him so he can tell them he is a lab mouse on stilts.
He is a good friend of the show, good friend of ours, Cliff, welcome, sir.
Thank you for having me.
It's been a long time since you've been in this studio.
Been a very long time.
We're glad to be back.
We're glad to be back.
Also, joining us is a first time guest, and a guy that I have been badgering to do this show for the better part of four years.
Another great friend of the show.
I'm the only person this week that cannot brag about their children,
because I'm the only one in the studio that doesn't have a kid.
But he is Patrick, welcome to the show, sir, as well to you.
It's good to have you here, man.
We've got a lot to get to, gentlemen.
So let's start with corrections.
Don says he's in the chat room, but here's nothing.
I don't know what's going on.
I'm trying to pull up the app on my phone.
Yes, see what you can find out, because I'm showing a recording happening.
It says we're live now on the app.
Okay.
I'm checking it right now.
I'm just sort of confused.
I don't know.
Last week's show was clean.
So after I listened back, I didn't hear anything unless you didn't hear anything.
Or else you did hear something.
I don't know.
I just work here.
Chad's saying no, we're good.
So let's start and get right into a little bit of an ass car.
Today was the Go Bowling.com 400.
Which I've always thought it was weird that your sports promoting another sport that's usually on at the same time you are.
Capitalism.
It's Merca.
Your top 10 finishers.
In the number five, Chevrolet, Chevrolet, Chevrolet.
Again, this week has most of your top 10 finishers.
Casey Kane, who started in 12th.
Denny, no, I was not on LA law.
Hamlin comes in 9th at 11th.
And the number 13 Toyota Ryan.
Hello, you men.
Comes in 8th.
And the number 31, Chevrolet.
He started in 21st place.
But he is not the lowest starter to finish at the top 10 this week.
Jamie McMurray, number one in the car and number one in your hearts.
He finishes in 7th.
And then in Chevrolet, he started in 5th position.
Jeff Gordon started in 5th.
Finished in 6th.
And the number 24, Chevrolet.
Greg, no, my family did not invent the game with the plastic ball and plastic batch of playing your backyard biffle.
Finishers in 5th in the number 16 Ford.
He is your lowest starter.
He started in 25th.
Finished in 5th.
So a strong finish for him.
Clint Bowyer in the number 15 Toyota finished in 4th.
He started in 14th.
Joey Logano started in 2nd, wound up in 3rd in the number 22 Ford.
Kevin Harvick gets the silver medal in the number 4 Ford.
And winning the race and now winning both races at Polkino Speedway this year.
Number 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. with another win this year.
So it looks like he's finally got the ship right a little bit over there.
Your current points totals.
And I think by next week I'm going to do some research and get all the winners together to figure out how many people are going to require being in the chase.
Your Eggman out.
Your odd man out is Greg Biffle.
He is in 13th Kyle Larson.
He says like a television executive.
Kyle Larson.
Like a producer for a game show or something.
A Kyle Larson production.
There you go.
He's in 12th.
Kevin Harvick in 11th.
Kyle Bush in 10th.
Clint Bowyer in 9th.
Carl Backflip Edwards in 8th.
Joey Logano 7.
Joey Logano 6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times.
Spring Cup champion Jimmy Johnson.
Not that Jimmy Johnson in 6th.
Ryan Hello Newman in 5th.
Matt Kenseth 4.
Chad's favorite driver Brad keselowski in 3rd.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Even though he's won both races at Polkino.
He still trails Jeff Gordon by 17 points.
But he's won a race so we automatically gets in the chase.
And I don't have my protractor so I can't tell you how the only thing stacks up right now.
I believe it's this comp.
I need an abacus or something.
I don't have an abacus.
Close on tangent.
I was terrible at math too.
I think having an abacus is going to help you, budge.
You got anything on the app chat?
It's just blank.
It's like we're having some technical difficulties on you stream.
Everyone in the chat room saying they can't hear anything either.
Tell them we're going to keep trying and see what we can do.
Misty's in the chat room.
Don's in the chat room.
Oh, there's some great people in the chat rooms tonight too.
Next week, next Sunday, one o'clock Eastern on ESPN chat.
Are you ready?
Hit me with it.
It is the Cheezit 355 at the Glen.
Shut up.
I'm not kidding you.
Cheezits.
Looking for mature cheese.
I don't know, but that'll be at Watkins Glen International.
Is it really international like you're not driving across borders?
I mean, it's in New York, but still.
I don't think they're crossing into Canada in the process.
All right.
That's where we are next week on your local ESPN.
You're listening to the clubhouse.
We are your one-stop shopper, all-thing sports and entertainment.
We've done the sports.
Let's do the entertainment and talk a little bit about television.
Do we need to turn this up a little bit?
There we go.
So this week, America changed.
As we had the premiere of Sharknado to the second one from the asylum.
And we're getting a third one, by the way.
Of course.
We are getting a third one.
It sets a sci-fi ratings record of over four million viewers.
Over four million people tuned into this thing.
Why?
Why?
Four million extremely bored people.
Four million people with nothing to do.
But you know who I found out really digs these things?
One stone cold sea Boston.
We know Doc does.
We know Doc does, but that's just...
That's an assumption.
He's just left of center.
When we say these things, are we talking about the overly cheesy corny?
The asylum is the studio that produces these...
Teradacto lizard crossover movies.
I got what you're saying.
Bronto bear.
We try to find old 80s actors that don't seem to have anything else to do, like eye-and-seering.
Bront, awesome green.
You know, I don't know if the bag is in one of these or not.
He's too busy being married to the...
The bag.
That's what we call him.
I mean, that's what the kids in the...
The clothes and the hair call him.
Is it?
Is that what they call him?
I don't know.
I'm really trying to make it sound like I know what I'm doing here.
And it's just...
It's not working.
Yeah, the app is saying we're off the air.
Yeah, because I stopped the recording.
Oh, okay.
But let me try to start it again and then try to...
See if maybe we can get something to signal somewhere.
Because we are recording in Audacity.
I mean, I'm looking at it right now.
So...
So we'll be safe for posterity if not...
Yeah, we got posterity going on.
Four million viewers for this thing.
It's all I'm saying.
I don't get it.
Four million.
I don't think it's meant for us to understand it, actually.
So I'm broadcasting again.
We'll try to start recording again and see what happens.
And I'm just going to experiment with different settings for the audio on this.
Oh, maybe we might be on.
We may be on.
I'm seeing things move.
Let me see if the...
We'll check in the chat room and see if anybody can hear us.
Things are looking like they're normal again.
Well, that's normal as this show can look.
I mean, let's be honest.
It says abnormal as it is normal.
We've never claimed to be normal.
So I'm...
Misty says no.
Misty says no.
Something...
We've got something going on because we've got levels moving.
We'll give it a few seconds.
More stuff for season three of Arrow.
These are three or four.
I think we're in four.
Maybe three.
But Charlotte Ross.
You know who she is.
She used to be on days of our lives many years ago and don't ask me how I know that.
She's going to play Felicity's mother on Arrow.
Let me tell you something.
I am after seeing the trailers that they showed at San Diego Comic Con for the new season of Arrow,
which kicks off in October.
As much as I was in before, I'm even more in now.
You were pretty devoted to this thing.
This is one of the best shows on television.
By a country mile.
So still nothing?
I'll check the app again.
Hang on there.
Let's show...
We've got things moving now.
Let's see if this...
We've got anything here.
Go ahead and ask the question for me.
Because I'm trying to multitask here.
But also we're finally going to get Oliver and Felicity going out on a date.
Apparently.
Of course, Black and Mary's going to return.
We have Rochelle Google coming this year, which I'm very excited about.
But they haven't shown him.
They just showed kind of a back picture of him.
Why can't I get to San Diego?
That's all I'm saying.
Also, we know that CSI Cyber is coming this fall with Patricia Arquette.
Cyber.
Yeah.
Cyber Cyber.
I don't think they know why I'm laughing.
Oh, no, no.
For those of you that are joining us, maybe for the first time.
I'm the only person that knows what the music in the background is.
Chad has no clue.
I love it.
So...
I love it.
Me and Cliff over your dance.
Yeah.
You know what this is, right?
No, this is computer blue by Prince.
This is super meringue.
Cyber.
CSI Cyber.
That's how we get it done, kids.
There you go.
Let's see.
Don says he restarted it.
The play button works.
The ad runs, but still no show.
Tarnit.
But I've got stuff moving.
I don't know what's going on.
But joining her on...
...on CSI Cyber...
...will be one Peter McNichol.
If you remember him from Ghostbusters 2.
You these v-go.
You were like the buzzing of fries to me.
Maybe the younger kids might know him from Ali McBeele,
but I know him from Ghostbusters 2, and that's what I'm sticking with.
Same here.
First thing I knew him from was my bodyguard.
Oh, jeez.
I watched that at HBO once, I think, in like 1987.
And it was a retro movie in 1987 at that point.
I don't know what's going on.
Why we cannot get a signal today.
Remember who his bodyguard was?
Phew.
Judge Reinhold.
Adam Baldwin.
Oh, okay.
The great Adam Baldwin.
Mm-hmm.
Very, very frustrated with this right now.
It's also going to air Sundays at 10 Eastern.
Which I don't know what kind of faith that shows in a show
when you're going to put them on that light on a Sunday.
Yeah, no kidding.
We all also know that I am not the president of the Patricia Arquette fan club either.
Really?
Her emotional range is about that of a newt.
In my personal opinion.
I've actually met that woman.
At the time when she was still with Thomas Jane.
I'm not saying that she's not a quality human being.
I'm just saying her acting leaves something to be desired.
That's all I'd say.
Well, I wouldn't put her on a level of what's her name.
Kristen Stewart.
Oh, no.
A lady void of all emotion.
I think you're a vampire and I love you.
Very good impression.
I think you're a Huntsman and I love you.
You're a bad queen.
It's frightening.
It's like she's in the room.
I've been working on it, actually.
I'm the rich little of my generation.
You put more into your acting like her than she does in any role she's ever played.
Also, we've got casting news for Gotham.
Which we know now will debut September the 22nd.
The Monday night on Fox.
They're giving up the Monday says,
eight o'clock Eastern spot.
Which frustrates me greatly.
Because I have too many things on Monday nights now.
But one of the stars of Dexter, David Zayas,
is going to play Mahba Salmaroni.
So they're filling up that cast, man.
Oh.
Gotham should have.
Okay, Missy says now she gets a high-pitched squeal.
That could just be me talking.
I don't know.
Oh.
Missy, now it looks like it looks like it's normally supposed to look, but I don't know.
How much of a delay is between what they're posting and what they're hearing?
Usually about 15 seconds.
We're going to keep trying.
I'm going to record record this.
So I'm ready for Gotham.
Gentlemen.
I'm in.
Oh, big time.
You know I'm in.
Cliff.
Why are you looking at me like this?
I need you guys again.
You've got to help me here.
You should know this.
You should know this.
But not everybody that listens to the show knows you guys.
And so they got to get to know you.
That's part of you being on the show.
I don't know if they want my personality all over the place.
You don't care.
You guys know.
You guys know how to stay in the lane.
It's fine.
I trust you.
So let's keep moving on.
So Disney, being the media mavens that they've turned into,
they have now started a web series.
If I could get this song to start,
we'd be okay.
Because I know what it is.
It is called Disney Drive On with the Muppets.
I'm glad you know what this song is.
Well, it's from the Green Album.
It's okay, goes version of the theme.
Oh, okay.
Well, because the original one was like 30 seconds long,
I couldn't cram the whole story into there.
The first episode with Kermit is up now.
Basically, this is the Muppets dealing with the inner workings of Hollywood.
It's going to be at least a 12-part series.
You put the Muppets in anything.
I'm just about anything.
I think that's pretty good.
No, that wasn't an old, oh no.
It's approval.
That's just, I can imagine where that's going to go.
I'm just looking forward to the day where we have Animal in a studio session with John Williams.
And then you've got a show.
Oh no.
That was a circus to code.
No, please God.
But that's none of my business.
Are you drinking it?
Are you sipping a glass of tea?
I had to have water.
That could be one of the greatest memes of the last six months at least.
Who would have thought?
That is.
That is.
That's none of my business.
And there's a Lipton tag on it.
Yeah, the Lipton tag is the accent.
I'm waiting for the day that Lipton starts the lawsuit, personal act.
Not if they're smart.
And in news, that's going to make Chad happy.
Oh, you ain't kidding.
Oh.
P-Way's Playhouse, the complete series, has been announced for DVD and Blu-ray this October.
That's one I'll get.
Oh, I know you will.
How long did that show run?
Two, three years?
Before the scandal.
Gosh, I won't say I drove by that theater when I was...
Yeah.
I can't be out on my grandparents' one weekend.
They were in Sarasota.
It was like right after it happened.
I was like, because I saw a picture of the theater in Rolling Stone magazine.
I was like, oh, there it is.
And I just kept driving, because I was going to see the necessary roughness movie,
because I had just come out.
Which was filmed here, ironically.
P-Way Herman introduced me to my emotions as a man when the bike was on the truck,
and he just absolutely was oblivious to it being behind me.
The screaming at the TV, that it's too...
Tada!
Tada!
Looks like it was on the air from 86 to 91, so four seasons.
That's a good run.
Four full seasons.
And it would have kept going had what happened, not happened.
But you know what?
45 episodes.
According to IMDB, because Paul Rubens, of course, would have been in every episode.
Yeah.
45 episodes.
If you can believe that.
That didn't seem right at all.
Yeah.
That's like 10 episodes a year.
I felt like I watched it every week more than that.
So it was like 11 episodes and a special maybe?
Maybe.
I don't know.
That's all I could think of.
But I felt that the Broadway show kind of...
Yeah, I know.
I can't watch this.
The Broadway show kind of did it in for me.
I didn't really dig the Broadway show.
Yeah.
It's the fact that they were basically just remaking the original Broadway show,
and just not doing it all that well.
Not having Phil Hartman there kind of hurt.
I forgot how epic this song was.
Danny Elfman.
It's like the first time they worked together basically, wasn't it?
The first time Tim Burton and Danny Elfman worked together?
Wasn't this their first score?
I can...
85.
So yeah, I would say so.
Yeah.
Because that was...
Batman was 89.
Yeah.
So...
Well, Beetlejuice was doing that between Batman and Phoebe.
Beetlejuice was 88.
Yeah.
Oh.
Thank you, Internet.
I should know I've got that box said.
You are listening to the clubhouse.
We are live every Sunday, night, seven Eastern for Pacific.
Although on you stream, it doesn't appear to be so.
Yeah.
Right now.
But we're working on it right now because right now we're going to get into P.O.I.
And this is where I know everybody's going to get involved.
Because everybody's got opinions on tonight's P.O.I.
P.O.I. stands for Person of Interest.
It's a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity
and we debate their greatness or lack thereof.
This week, the pendulum swings back to me, but I'm going to let kind of Chad
I'm going to let you start the discussion.
Because I'm trying to figure out some technical issues over here.
Tonight's P.O.I. is Class Reunions.
We started this discussion last week at the end of the show
and I said we need to put a pin in this because this needs to be P.O.I.
Indeed.
So begin, sir.
Have you guys gone to a Class Reunion yet?
Nope.
I have not.
I don't like the people then.
I didn't care for them then.
Well, how long has it been?
14 years.
And you?
Actually, it's just, well, no, no, no, 13, 2001.
So, yeah, 2011.
And I can't fault them on this because I went to my five-year
and realized what little people had changed.
Exactly.
And I was not a good thing.
So, the five-year for me, I didn't know that five-year reunions
existed until I moved to Texas.
Yeah.
Because, yeah, I graduated in 1991.
Which means I'm now the second oldest person in this room.
And when I heard of a five-year reunion, I'm like,
you haven't done anything in a lot of years.
You haven't done anything in a lot of years.
The people that were torps in high school were still torps out of high school.
And I think for us, social media has helped us.
And I want to put a pin there because I want to push that into
a little bit deeper into the conversation.
Okay.
Because for guys of a certain age, I guess you could say, as Chad and I are,
you know, in those days, you relied on snail mail.
That was the only way, you know, and my class, after we graduated,
we scattered.
Like, we have people all over the country and all over the world.
Like the day after I graduated, I was on a train,
headed off to do some, to cancel summer camp for seven weeks.
I came home for a week, and then I was off to college.
So, my 10-year reunion was the first time I'd seen a lot of those people
since we walked the stage.
Now, Chad, you've lived here your whole life,
but you went away, did the service thing.
The Navy thing.
But you came back before your reunion.
Exactly.
Yeah, I graduated in 88, joined the Navy in 89, served from 89 to 93,
came back just in time from my five-year reunion.
I mean, literally.
So you did have one.
Yes, I did.
Okay.
I did have a five-year, and that's when I realized what Schmuck's people could still be at that age.
And so, when the 10-year rolled around in 98, I skipped it.
I'm like.
That was, and that was right after you and I had met for the first time.
Exactly.
And it was at a really small place.
No, it's still in the existence.
There's a velvet Elvis still around.
It's something else now.
What, any idea what it is?
Right there on Greenville, over by the Grenada.
I like how you asked that question and looked directly.
It was fish, it was fishnet for a while,
and then it went back to the velvet Elvis.
I couldn't tell you anything.
All I know is that the parking lot was too small to accommodate the crowd that showed up.
Really?
From the feedback that I got, it was too small of a venue to hold a reunion that size
because my graduating class, I graduated from a ski high school.
How many people were talking about that class?
Right, like, four, five hundred in a graduating class.
No way.
Are you going to squeeze that many people into the velvet Elvis?
People coming into a club on Lower Greenville for those of you that aren't from the DFW area.
It is considered, I guess you could call it the club district.
At least back then it was.
And you were lucky to find a place to park if you got there past eight o'clock.
Right.
So, not only are you competing with the people that go there regularly,
but you're also trying to compete with your own classmates.
Because I don't know if they rented the place out or if that's just where they decided to gather.
And see, I've always found that to be a strange thing too.
When here's where the reunion is going to be, we haven't necessarily rented the place out.
This was called booking on the floor.
Gathering there.
Yeah, right.
Because I know the five year was at a place called Toberch Chili Part of that was right in the middle of downtown.
And I know it's not still.
I don't know what it is anymore.
But it was relatively small.
It's a quiz nose now.
Yeah.
Where's a quiz nose?
Exactly.
Where's one by my work?
And I found the quiz nose sandwich that I like.
Which gets your things together because Jesus is coming.
But I did find a quiz nose sandwich that I like.
Italian.
No, it's the...
Oh, it's the name of it.
I'm a fan of it.
It's got a honey mustard Italian dressing on it.
Okay.
That's very, very good.
It's the best sub in the world.
And they've got...
Well, they changed the bread up.
Because my problem with the quiz nose is you always got like nine feet of bread.
Yeah.
And like two layers of meat.
No profile.
Yeah.
Anyway, they went back.
But we...
We had to...
Off topic.
But the 20 year.
Because I never heard anything about a 15.
The 20 year.
Guys, when it comes up, do yourself a solid and go.
I am going to a 20.
Yeah.
And go to 10.
I'll do plan on going to 20.
Like you said, I just didn't think of 10 years.
Well, you're 10.
For me, I dug it because...
My 10...
Oh, again.
And a lot of us hadn't seen each other since we graduated.
Social media wasn't really a fact.
And again, it had to be done through snail mail.
Which surprised me because there was obviously somebody in my class that knew where I was.
Because I moved to a different state.
And I'd moved a couple of times once moving to that state.
And we didn't really have a...
Alumni association, I guess, per se for our class.
So the fact that somebody was able to find me.
It's a pretty interesting tale on it.
But this was also in the pre-social media days.
And like I said, a lot of us hadn't seen each other.
Right.
Yeah, my part in here, the internet was still in its influence, he really.
How does it go?
Six degrees of separation.
Pretty much.
You knew somebody, the knew somebody, the knew you, the knew how to get a hold of you.
And the crazy thing was, we went to the pre-party the night before.
Now, you got to remember, when I graduated high school,
I was 5'7 and 110 pounds soaking wet.
Here I am, six foot, pushing three bills.
Facial hair has happened.
I used to have, by the way, the sweetest mullet on the planet.
And I will defend that to my great future.
I will make that happen after the show.
You put relatively recently, I saw it yesterday.
Yeah, that wasn't me.
That was somebody else that put that.
That was post mullet.
That was post mullet.
I thought you still had long hair in that picture.
You talked about doing there's four of us together.
No, no, no, no.
I was going to have to move here because I cut it in 94 when I worked at an incredible university environment.
Oh, okay, okay.
Okay.
So when we went to the pre-party, my wife, who was my girlfriend at the time,
which we went together, she came with me,
and people were walking up to her, people that I knew, people that I hung out with,
people that I went to parties with were walking up to my girlfriend and going,
hold on, don't tell me.
She's like, I don't worry.
Don't worry.
You know, at one point, she actually said, hey, look,
unless you went to high school in Houston, you want to talk to him.
And that was kind of a weird thing for me.
But then I had to realize, oh, ha ha.
We have a server error on you stream.
Okay.
So it's not us.
I figured it wasn't this thing.
That's good news.
But she was saying, you know,
unless you went to high school in Houston, talk to him.
And on a certain level that kind of hurt me a little bit,
but I had to realize I've gained a person.
I've gained both Olsen twins.
You know what I mean?
And I've got a story that will be the counterpoint of that.
Is this is this pre or post 18?
You know, they lost weight after they turned 18?
Gosh, this was 2001.
So it might have been post.
Okay.
Then that's about three.
Yeah.
Them and their others.
Them and them and them and Elizabeth.
But for my, you know, by 15, they booked it on the fly.
So I was actually there the weekend before,
because we had a reunion of everybody that I was in bed with.
And they were like, hey, we're going to the 25 next week.
And I'm like, dude, I got to get a plane tomorrow.
I can't buy another round trip ticket next week.
But my 20, that was post social media.
Social media had now been a thing, because this was 2011.
By this point, we were all kind of past that awkward part of it.
So we all knew what each other looked like.
We'd all been, you know, kind of through the miracle of the internet.
Been involved in each other's lives.
Chad, would you mind updating the Facebook page?
Sure.
So that was a lot better.
Now, I think the 20 itself, the concept of the 20,
because at 10, you're just kind of getting your life together.
Exactly.
You know, I mean, you guys being significantly younger than us,
you think about where you were five years ago versus where you are now.
No, we're near.
Totally different place.
And where you're going to be 10 years from now.
Yeah.
See, the 20 for me was the best one.
Because the 20 is where your life is really getting going.
You're having families, you know, you get the chance to really,
there were people that were still kind of jerks to me at the 10.
One particular that I totally didn't expect.
That at the 20, we're like, hey, man, let's just hang out and talk for a while.
Yeah.
You know, after the official reunion ended, which by the way was actually on my birthday,
which is a cool winner.
Yeah.
We sat in the lobby of this hotel and we talked for another two and a half hours.
Wow.
Just all of us talking about our families and where we were going
and where we'd been and what we used to do and places we used to go.
Yeah.
The 20 was great.
And I'm really looking forward to my 25, which happens in two years, I guess.
Better foundation.
And I want to say to the people out there that went because a lot of people go to their tens,
just like Chad talks about, you go to your 10 and it just drives you nuts.
I loved my 10.
I had a great time.
We had my 10 at the same place we had our prom at, which was kind of cool.
If you went to your 10 and you didn't have a great time, go to your 20.
Because your 20 is really where you're going to see the true colors of your classmates.
Because you've kind of gotten through all the phases of your life and you're starting to settle in.
Everyone's got war wounds.
Yeah.
Yes, sir.
You've done some living at that point.
I just don't like the concept of a five.
But a lot of people have, you know, especially Charlotte, who's a fan of this show.
She's my sister and I love her.
I got this to have breakfast with her yesterday morning.
Hi, Charlotte.
She said nobody bought tickets to her 10 because they all talked to each other on social media anyway.
Exactly.
So there's that double edged sword to it that I don't see.
But, you know, I can see how it would.
And coming from guys that are younger than us, how has social media affected that kind of a deal?
Or do you think it's an enhancement or has it hindered it?
I say in my situation a little bit of both.
It makes it a little easier to get in contact with people quicker.
You know, you don't have to use so many liaisons to find someone.
But at the same time, I do.
I catch myself using social media a little too much.
Sometimes I get a little too detached from reality.
I forget why I am.
You know, just catch yourself sitting in the middle of a coffee shop.
You're like, oh, okay.
My cup of coffee has been up for 20 minutes.
Oh, my bad.
I'm sorry.
And you spell my name wrong on my cup.
Yeah.
Start over.
Unless you're Charlotte and you offer yourself a tribute.
Yeah, it is true.
I'm still waiting for it to actually do that.
And it looks like I still can't connect to you streams.
So we're just going to keep moving.
And I'll put it up later.
But it'll be on iTunes.
So that's an important thing.
What you did at your 20s sounds an off like what happened at mine.
I had people that yes, we're still jerks at the five that came up to me.
And I like to do that was 15 years ago, man.
I was a different person.
I'm a better person now.
I'm glad that you're here.
And about the funniest thing was that I was standing there with about six or seven of my friends.
Right off the elevators.
We were at the 69th floor of the Bank of America building in a ballroom.
Same year that you were born.
I'm sorry.
Tommy, I'm lying.
The same year.
Most of us that graduate in the year were born actually.
I see what you did there.
Yeah.
See.
So we're standing there almost like like a impromptu receiving line.
We were just standing there talking.
And people were coming up to they were like going down the road.
And I was at the very end of this row.
And they were walking up to these to these friends.
Am I going?
Can't remember you.
I'm not sure who you are.
I think I remember Chad.
How you doing?
And all these guys are looking at me like jerk.
I'm like, I'm sorry.
Did you Joe Naaman that out of there just put in your finger?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But at the end of the night a bunch of them were staying at the West End Hotel.
Right there downtown.
Downtown.
Just a couple of doors down from where we were at the reunion.
But not three.
No.
Okay.
And a bunch of them had gone to the W to the ghost bar at the in the W.
I think I think that's where the ghost bar is.
And by the time we talk about being too old for something.
Yeah.
That's me in the W in the ghost bar.
Yeah.
And they were all congregating up there.
Well, by the time we finally got to the W, they wouldn't let us in.
Because they were about to close.
So we all just went back to the West End Hotel and hung out in the lobby.
And started talking.
And the poor guy at the desk was like, would you guys like want to just hang out in the breakfast area?
Because we don't want anyone to get intimidated when they walk and try to check in for a room,
thinking that there's a miss here.
They're like, do you all want us to leave?
And I was like, no, go ahead.
Come on in here.
You know, you can, you know, there's like water and ice for your drinks and stuff.
Water and ice.
No, because a lot of us had brought liquor with us.
You know, at the W, you had the water and ice going to cost you eight bucks.
Yeah.
No, no, no, that's not end.
Oh.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we wind up going in the breakfast area and we were there till six in the morning
when they were starting to prepare breakfast.
So like, if you guys wouldn't mind cleaning up because we got to start serving people.
I'm like, we looked out the window and I'm like, wow, the sun's up.
The breakfast haven't done that since I was in my 20s.
And had the best time to sit around talking about, you know, myths about each other.
Like, you know, you know, people thought I was a certain way in high school.
I'm like, no, it's not what you're thinking.
Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, they thought I was a man horror, actually.
Say, I will not leave it or not.
I will not confirm nor deny.
That's all I'm saying.
And I'm looking at them like, where'd y'all get that idea?
I had like two girlfriends in high school.
That was basically it.
I was a monogamous guy.
Like, no, the myth was that you were like a player.
I'm like, who told you that lie?
And you said, hey, hey.
Hey, don't hate.
Yeah.
Congratulations.
It's all I'm saying.
I like how you said that.
There was like 0.8 seconds of multiplication.
Yeah.
How do I react to this?
Yeah.
Go with it.
I was a shock to you guys where when you heard it just then.
I'm like, what?
But you know, like, like, my mom has never been to a reunion.
Didn't want to has no desire to.
My mom doesn't even do social media.
She has no desire to connect with people
that she from her past at all in any way, shape or form.
Is he my parent?
Anybody she met before 40?
Probably not.
I'm sorry to find my aunt.
Where's she from?
Chernobyl.
She actually went to the same high school kidcratic went to.
In Florida.
It's true stories.
She graduated two years before he did, I think.
They went to a high school and a cliff.
And Adamson.
Adamson.
And they went to their classroom.
My dad's reunion in his 20 year and 83 at Flagpole Hill at White Rock.
And they took us with them.
Whereas my class reunion is there were really no, it wasn't a kid friendly environment.
But it was like a great big picnic in the middle of July on Flagpole Hill.
Oh, that's.
And for those of you that don't know anything about this town.
You might as well just bring your swimsuit
because you will be drenched in sweat in the middle of July at Flagpole Hill.
I remember we had a good time.
And there's no pool.
I'm just saying.
On a hill.
And I have.
So again.
Five year.
Probably not so much.
Ten year.
Curiosity in the cat.
Yeah.
Skip the 15 because there's not much you're going to see the 15.
If they do one.
Twenty.
Perfect time.
Yeah.
Even though we had less attendance at our 20 than we had at our 10.
And we didn't have a 25 last year would have been my 25th year.
And I never heard anything about anyone even planning one.
So miss that boat.
All right.
Let us move on and do a little bit more sports talk as we get into baseball talk.
And we don't have anybody outside the out of the.
The studio to play America's favorite games tonight.
We might have to skip it this week.
I'm very no.
We're not skipping America's favorite game.
Okay.
Because we will still get people on iTunes that will pause the podcast.
Make their guess.
And then go.
Yeah.
Okay.
Just saying.
Let's go straight to standing.
Unless you guys have anything that from this week from the world of baseball worth talking about.
The trade deadline happened in.
David Price.
Outside of that.
Yeah.
Well, you're you're Detroit Tigers.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Price went to Detroit.
Yeah.
Right at the deadline.
Right at the deadline.
Yeah.
They pulled that one out.
Once I stop.
Watch.
Watch.
I'll just stop.
But we can't.
Stop.
I guess we can.
Turn down for what?
Yes.
Let's go down to standings in the American League East.
The Boston Red Sox.
How the mighty have fallen.
They are 49 and 61 right now.
They're 12 games below 500.
Get 13 out of first place.
They are five and a half games behind Tampa Bay, who was three games behind the New York Yankees.
Chris Cornell's favorite team.
You're going to hear that name a lot tonight.
So get used to it.
Yeah.
And Patrick, of course, wearing a Yankee cap in his honor with his name on the side, which we greatly appreciate.
The Toronto Blue Jays right now.
Three and a half games behind Baltimore in the AL East.
Do you ever think you'd see the day where you wouldn't see Boston or the Yankees in the top two of that?
Especially in August.
Because now it's crunch time.
You know, usually this is the point where people though you're separating.
You're playing out.
You're separating out.
Yeah.
Speaking of playing now, let's go to your beloved AL Central.
Sir.
Sir.
The Minnesota Twins.
Only 10 games below 500 yet still suck.
They are three games behind the White Sox.
Boy, again, how the mighty have fallen.
They are three, two and a half games behind the Cleveland Indians.
I like the new little sea for Cleveland that they have.
I do too.
That's great class you.
And the Kansas City.
Jesus is coming.
Let me tell you.
The Royal House.
The Royal House are five games behind Patrick's beloved Detroit Tigers.
That's rough.
Tigers have won three straight by the way.
Yes.
That's cute.
Got to win some more against the home though.
You're 30 and 27 at home.
Got to open that gap a little bit.
But you're 31 and 20 on the road.
So if I've got to have one category that I've got a lot more wins and I've got losses, let it be on the roads.
In the ALS, Chad's beloved Texas Rangers.
Oh God.
43 and 68.
It says they've only lost three straight.
But I want to debate the validity.
What?
I think that they may have been there three and seven in their last ten.
So they must be like one in nine and they're with before that.
They lost three straight in the month of August.
And it's the third Houston is three and a half games better than the Rangers.
But that's sinking.
No.
Seattle ten and a half back right now.
And the team we like to call.
No.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim LA County, California, America, North America, Earth Milky Way.
Oakland.
They are one game behind Oakland.
Who's only lost.
They're there about one game lost streak.
But I believe they've got the best record in baseball.
And as they are.
Do they not?
A one game lost streak.
That's not a streak.
There's a lot.
There's 609 winning percentages is the best in baseball.
And they're only nine thousandths better than the angels.
Well, small, uh, small pinpoint here.
Everybody.
The games behind column on Texas has been modified.
That is not their games behind that is injured players.
24 and a half.
Nice.
News.
News.
We need to have him on more on wheel.
And let's keep with that.
Thank you.
In the national league west, the Colorado Rockies.
16 games below 500 get 19 games out of first place.
They are five and a half worse than the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The San Diego Padres are sinking like a stone.
Where they were in contention.
They're now 12 and a half back.
The giants have now given up a three game lead to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
That sea saw has gone back and forth about 16 times in the last month.
Misty's beloved Dodgers.
In the NL Central.
The curse of the Cubs continues as they are 17 games below 500.
And they are five game.
Oh, no, wow.
That's a huge gap.
They're 13 and a half back.
Cincinnati's four and a half back.
That's a long way between fourth and fifth.
Don's beloved Pittsburgh pirates are three games better than them right now.
John Anderson's beloved St. Louis Cardinals are a game back on the Milwaukee Brewers.
The team that is a conflict of interest since Budsieglu's daughter owns them.
And in the only division that matters, the National League East.
The Philadelphia Phillies still suck and we couldn't be happier.
They're 12 and a half back.
They are four and a half games behind the Metz.
The Metz started out strong this year.
And they've pulled the Rangers in a fall on a part in the second half.
The Miami, my beloved Miami Marwan 7 back.
But my beloved Atlanta Braves still in the hunt.
Three back on the Washington Nattinals.
Washington's been very, very sketchy the last month.
But my Braves would probably take the lead if they hadn't lost five straight.
Gotta get the wheels back on, boys.
How strong is Jordan this year?
He's doing all right.
He's not torched in the world, but he's holding setting.
He's not getting injured.
And that's keeping the nationals where they need to be.
But I know the Braves are coming to town next month.
I hope we can get a couple of minutes out of that.
It is now time for America's favorite game.
Gentlemen, get ready.
Because it's time to play.
What is the run differential for the Houston Astros?
It is America's favorite game.
We've been playing it now for three seasons.
You have to get closest without going over of what the run differential is for the Houston Astros.
Chad, we go to you.
84.
Chad says minus 84, Cliff.
91.
91.
Patrick says 100.
The Houston Astros are 47 and 65.
They have a win percentage of 420.
They are 21 games at a first place.
They're 26 and 33 at home, 21 and 32 on the road.
However, they've won three straight and they're 500 in their last 10.
The winner this week is Cliff.
You were one off.
It is a minus 92, which is bad.
However, that's how about your body language.
Your beloved Texas Rangers are at a minus 120.
9.
Geez.
And the best in the league right now.
Anybody want to guess who's got the best in the league?
Same division.
As the Rangers?
Yeah.
Oakland.
They're at a plus 166.
They're crushing it right now.
But maybe this is the year finally Billy Bean gets to prove the haters wrong.
No.
I just, if you've ever seen Billy Bean and you go, he made that casting in that movie.
Because there's no way somebody went, Brad Pitt looks just like him.
Jonah Hill may be closer, but not Brad Pitt.
I just, the first time I saw Billy Bean, I went and really did.
Really.
Listen, you are listening to the Clubhouse podcast.
We're having you stream issues.
The servers are down.
No.
But we're still going to soldier on because this is what we do.
Let us move on.
They just showed the guy.
Of course, we were dedicating this show tonight to the memory of Chris Coronado just happens to be the night that NBC is showing WrestleMania 30.
And they just showed the Undertaker streak ending in the guy with the big eyes.
They just showed him.
Shout out to Chris Coronado.
Yeah.
We love you, brother.
Let's move on to do some music talk.
I haven't played this in a long time.
Because it means we have Hunger Games updates.
Oh, yes.
The, uh, Lorda.
Is it Lorda?
There's Lorda.
Lorda is what I've heard.
Lorda.
I can't call a person that.
I'm sorry.
But she has been picked to curate and have the lead single for the Hunger Games Mocking J Part One soundtrack.
I kept saying the curate, really?
Because that means she's putting the songs together.
It's not like a museum or something.
It just seems like a weird way of putting it.
Oh, it's because of the kids with the clothes and the hair.
What are you going to do?
It's a night at Lord's house.
As long as she doesn't have suppers in the upper room of her house,
I'll be fine.
Let's draw a line somewhere.
It's all I'm saying.
You might not be okay then.
Yeah.
But she's going to have the lead single as well.
Of course, because she's organizing.
I guess you give yourself the driver's seat.
But the new trailer is out.
I have not seen it yet.
No, have I?
And you know what?
So far in.
Catching fire was really, really good.
Oh, yeah.
I'm digging this series a lot more than I thought.
And my wife being one who has read all the books,
she's been very, very happy with the movies.
And also Charlotte.
Charlotte has too, yeah.
You know, so.
So we're talking about a good transition here.
So far.
They said there's some details in the books
that they're not going to go into the movies
because it gets kind of graphic.
But the thing is the last book they're splitting into two movies
like they did with Harry Potter.
And Charlotte has said publicly,
she thinks she knows where they're going to end the first movie.
And if they end the first movie there,
there's going to be a lot of people
that are going to be really mad.
So there's that.
Can't please everybody though.
We talked about a month ago on the show
about the Food Fighters producing a documentary series
based on the recording of their new album.
There is a debut set for it.
October 17th is when that many series will start.
I'm a big Food Fighters fan.
I'm huge, huge.
David Grohl.
They said the album is 98% done.
Wow.
So I love that they're taking their time.
I don't want them to rush this because they've been on point.
So consistently.
I don't want to streak over.
I don't want it because they're so good.
I loved it.
What's the video that when I fell in love with Food Fighters
was the video when they had heat drink.
He had a dream and the big hand.
Is it big me?
No, that's.
Is it big me?
Don't ask me.
Yeah, we got the big hands.
There you go.
Yes.
I like the other one where they're doing the Mentos commercial.
Right.
That one makes me laugh.
But they just.
This is what rock and roll should be.
There's no pretentiousness to it.
And their drummer looks like a very young edge.
And that makes me happy.
Now, if you watched, did you guys watch the rock and roll
Hall of Fame dutch last year?
They inducted Rush.
And they did 2112 in full outfits.
Really?
Oh, it was so great.
And I mean, if you're at that drummer,
you're like, you mean I've got to play with Neil Peer played.
Great.
Give me about a year and a half to learn this.
This was the Mimbo.
And I've got this month.
This year is on the DVR and I haven't watched it yet.
So I've got so much on the DVR for DVR.
So in news that I'm not sure how Chad's going to take.
And I know I'm sure that front of the show,
Devin Pike's going to be all over this.
But DJ William Orbit, who did a,
who's done a lot of great producing over the last few years,
is going to produce a new queen album
with unreleased Freddie Mercury vocals.
In.
It's going to be called Queen Forever.
It's going to come out around Christmas time.
In.
Okay.
Why would I have a problem with that?
Well, because I know how you are about things like this.
Sometimes you're in and sometimes you're cautiously optimistic.
And I don't, you know, I assume nothing about you, sir.
Well, no one thinks about Chad.
It's nothing's for sure.
Let's put it in context.
The first posthumous Michael Jackson album
was a huge disappointment.
Now, what about the second one, though?
Much, much better.
Oh, yeah.
Like, I can't hear enough of love never felt so good.
And they're using that in a,
in a Jeep commercial.
Okay, I thought that is the one they're using in the Jeep commercial.
Any of you guys have any thoughts on?
I love it.
I love the second one.
I love it.
For real.
I mean, I was, I was stunned at how much better escape was than Michael.
Because I really thought they would come out strong with Michael.
I didn't know about naming it after a 90s R&B group.
I was a little concerned about that.
I figured you were going to make that reference at some point, too.
But escape was a really good solid album.
So if they can take,
I don't know where they're drawing from,
where they're drawing these unreleased vocals from.
If they were just demos or if they were completed songs that haven't been released yet.
I'm just glad they're using his vocal and didn't decide.
Hey, we're going to do an album with Adam Lambert.
Yeah, because they didn't have Paul Rogers.
But I like that stuff.
Paul Rogers, I thought, did a great job on it.
I know you disagree,
but you know, I'm also a big bad company fan.
So I was okay with that.
But I'm just, if it's not Freddie, it's not Queen.
Period.
You can call Van Halen Van Halen without it, without David Lee Roth.
I had issues with that back when it happened.
It's so to die, but I'm saying they did.
Call it a different group.
I mean, it's not Van Halen anymore.
Oh, they called it Queen and Adam Lambert,
because it's the rest of the band.
No, just no.
No, no, no.
So I'm sure we'll have a full review for that when it comes out in December.
I'll grab it.
And we'll actually have the heater on in the studio,
when you have the AC praying that it keeps it cool in here.
Because the heater is on right now.
It's just called the sun.
No, it's actually called all the equipment in the room.
That's the equivalent of the sun sometimes.
Music, new releases, and new release places where you get music on Tuesday.
These guys are back.
And I couldn't be more indifferent.
Really?
Tree Story.
These guys.
O-town has a brand new album.
And let's talk a little bit,
because I'm going to give you a very little known fact that we've actually covered on this show before.
About O-town.
This show has a connection to O-town.
Every person in this room.
I didn't.
But we're going to talk about who did here in just a minute.
So.
And he can't deny it.
Other new albums called Lines and Circles,
which is probably how they sign their names.
But.
Exiles.
Chad, do you?
What are you looking at me for?
Do you remember?
Which friend of the show?
And because this came from the very first season of making the band when it was on ABC.
That's where this band, this group was formed.
Hold on.
Do we know who auditioned for that show?
The only person I know that auditioned for a show that's been in this room.
For a show, I don't know if it was this show, but it was Brandon.
No.
So I don't know.
Look at the portrait next to the TV in the studio of Batman.
Oh, shut up.
Brent Peoples auditioned for his original making the band.
That's exactly what I thought it was.
That is a true story.
And if he's denied it, he's a dirty, filthy liar.
Just clip up looking at me and I can't look at a clip of mine.
It's not me.
You all look at each other.
No, as he went on and he talked about the show and that's what my face is.
I can only see one guy that I know that's going to be.
Brent, who's at San Diego, San Antonio Comic Con this weekend.
God bless it, man.
Dude, he's getting a lot of work.
Yes, he is.
I could not be proud of that little brother.
Absolutely.
A lot of work he can't talk about this.
I have no guts.
He has released some of the images from the Godzilla stuff.
Looks great.
I'm going to need more than quarter panels, Brent.
I know.
I'm going to need more than quarter panels.
He's doing a great job, though.
He's really making his dream work and I could not be proud of him.
I'm glad he didn't give up on it because I know he got close.
He really did.
And I'm glad he didn't give up because the kids too talented.
But somebody in the room gave him a little dust on the shoulder and say,
keep doing what you're doing, son.
I don't want to mention any names but his initials are me.
Moving on and another band you thought you'd never hear from this group again.
These guys have a brand new album this week.
This is an acoustic version so it's going to take a minute to kick in.
Got nothing.
You know who this is, don't you?
I thought it was your high rise.
What?
Kicks has a brand new album this week called Rock Your Face Off.
Rock Your Rockers off.
They might rock off the plates.
They've gotten their cheeks and forehead.
But Rock the tennis balls off their walkers.
This was a great song though.
Don't close your eyes as a great song.
Oh I'm not denying that the song was good but...
Wow.
I heard that his side gun kick is still touring.
Oh for the love of God.
Welcome for Lauderdale, sir.
Representing my hometown.
And Spoon.
They're a very heavy band.
They release a brand new album this week called They Want My Soul.
Yeah, it sounds like a ballad.
Yeah, it's a pretty song.
Let us move on because I am ready to play a song right now.
I am ready for this.
Right.
Now.
Yes.
The Autumn Wind is a Raid.
I have said publicly for years that I
load preseason football.
I load it because it doesn't count.
Right now I don't care.
I mean football.
You're dying.
You're dying.
Your football thirst.
I am...
I need football.
And we get it right now and we talk about this whole show.
How about tonight's show dedicated to Chris Coronado.
It couldn't be a more perfect night to dedicate to a show to him
because he just got finished in the studio watching the NBC television premiere
of WrestleMania 30 and right after that is the Hall of Fame game.
Bill's Giants.
You can't...
We couldn't script that better.
Thank you NBC for doing that.
Thank you for doing us a solid.
Thursday series kicks off September 4, 3 days after Labor Day.
Seattle.
Seattle Green Bay.
And Denver Indy?
Are they doing a double featured at night?
Well that's Sunday night football.
Okay.
But hard knocks they've used this week.
You got a Falcons.
You got a Falcons got it this year.
Well because you know Cleveland turned it down.
Yeah.
I thought it was going to be either them or it was going to be the Rams.
So I thought they couldn't turn it down.
I thought they...
No they have the right.
I thought they...
The league said if you get chosen you're doing it.
No the league says at some point everybody has to do it.
Okay that's okay.
They made it more.
They wanted it to be more fair to the other teams.
But let's be honest.
Are you going to watch hard knocks with the Arizona Cardinals?
There's a reason...
Yeah I mean I will but the mass in general.
I mean there's a reason the Cowboys had it twice.
They're just that team that everybody watches.
Now let me ask this because I've got some opinions in the room that I want to hear on this.
Wednesday it comes out that's ownership of the Oakland Raiders.
Openly flirting with San Antonio.
Now I have an opinion on this but I want to go around the horn first before I give my opinion.
Patrick let's start with you.
Is this a thing?
No.
No why not?
Yeah that team would not make it.
It wouldn't go anywhere.
Hey Cliff.
I want him gone.
I don't want him sharing our stadium.
Good riddance.
Chad?
I don't see how you can just you know it's already been said once that San Antonio is a Cowboy town.
Jerry himself has said.
I mean didn't they used to have training camp there?
At one point.
Yeah I remember after Katrina New Orleans played their preseason games there.
They were playing a full blown game.
The Cowboys were playing at the same time and the Cowboy ratings wasted it.
Jerry owns that town.
I don't think the Cowboy fans won't let it happen.
Jerry won't let it happen because Jerry's got pretty much all the stroke when it comes to the owners.
My personal philosophy is the Raiders are trying to get out of stadium.
Yep.
Because the Oakland stadium it's just so rundown.
And I think it's a player trying to get a taxpayer paid stadium.
And I don't know if we've said this on this show before but it's a bit on Bob and Tom.
Did you know that the NFL does not pay taxes?
Yeah.
They're a tax exempt corporation.
Wow.
Are you kidding me?
You believe that.
They are tax exempts.
It slapped me in the face with a stack of hundreds.
Yeah exactly.
If they pay taxes they could probably house the homeless in this country.
Absolutely.
But to me it's just deployed to get the city.
Now, are they going to go back to LA?
No.
Because I know.
And I've said on this show for months, Jacksonville is going to Oklahoma City.
I think Oklahoma.
I really believe that because I believe Oklahoma City has proven with the NBA that professional sports in Oklahoma is viable.
Right.
Especially in Oklahoma City.
There's no way there.
Well, Oklahoma.
Oh, yeah.
Oklahoma City I think is viable because they've got a good population.
Football would own that entire state for four months because college football there with Oklahoma and Oklahoma state.
I think it's viable.
This thing about the scouts.
I mean, this thing about the recruiting.
No, it would be ridiculous.
You know, and we proved it when they moved the hormones there for that year after Katrina.
They sold out every game.
And with the thunder, you can't get a thunder ticket unless you buy a well in advance.
I really think that Jacksonville is going to wind up there.
And I think the Rams moved back to LA.
People misunderstood.
They underestimate Oklahoma.
That's a football state.
You ain't lying, brother.
If Jacksonville didn't move there, could you see Oakland moving there instead?
No.
If Jacksonville doesn't move there.
No, because I think Oakland will stay in Oakland.
Okay.
It's the Raiders.
They couldn't take the name with them anyway.
That's why I think the Rams are moving back to LA because LA wants a team.
But they want one of their teams.
And since you can't, since they had the name before, you can grandfather that in.
Because I don't think the Raiders are going to go back to LA.
The LA Raiders was always a weird thing to me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, the LA Rams, yes.
The LA Raiders need to stay in Oakland.
It's like Santa Clara Niners.
We're going to play.
And that's where WrestleMania 31 is going to be.
Right.
But I can't wait to see that new stadium.
I've heard that.
It's such amazing things.
It's a great time to be a Niner fan.
Let me just say that.
Great.
And you are true blue Niner fan.
I am true blue Niner fan.
I've been there.
I dealt with the Garcia's and the-
Of course he is.
And the single Terry's.
One thing I will give Sing a Terry though, he got us a defense.
He preached that defensive mind state.
And we haven't left it.
And we've been pretty darn successful.
And I'm a big Colin Kaepernick fan.
I am too-
Especially since you wore a dolphin hat and put a picture on me.
I wore what I want.
And I'm just sitting there and I'm like,
I can dream.
Can't I?
It's just still crushes my soul that we passed on true breeze
for Dante Coltepper.
I just-
You expect it.
As a dolphin, you're used to mediocrity.
I'm about to say you expect a different one.
But I determine I can't buy Dolphins jerseys anymore.
Because every time I buy a Dolphins jerseys,
it's useless the next year.
He's injured.
I've got his act.
Thomas Jerseys sitting in the closet I can't wear.
I've got a Dante Coltepper jersey.
You can't use that one.
I've got a Ronnie Brown jersey.
Can't use that one.
Do what I always do.
Just buy a blank jersey.
We get a custom one just for me.
That's what you're starting to do.
The game is on, boys.
The game is on.
We have football.
I've never been this excited about preseason football
and the history of ever.
I have heard you decry it.
I just-
I don't know what it is about this offseason has felt like forever.
I think everybody-
This has felt like the longest football offseason ever.
But it feels like there's been just this increasing yearly.
Maybe it's just-
There's so much publicity surrounding it.
You see so much of it in the offseason.
And you just-
You start peeing in for-
I mean, come on now.
We look on Facebook and there's like, can you wait for football?
And then they'll throw up that massive montage of Barry Sanders
just running over 80 people.
And it's like, oh.
I just-
I'm-
I'm excited.
And of course, I watch hard knocks every year
because I like watching that inside scoop.
And sometimes you can see these guys that end up playing for other teams.
And you get a little bit of history there.
I think HBO sports does an amazing job.
Oh, yeah.
HBO documentaries in general are always on point.
Excellent.
And there will never be a day that we have Shriver won't narrate them,
which I'm okay with.
Except when you see him in-
And you're like, that's the same thing.
Really?
It freaks me out.
Let's get Sean Conroy on the NFL.
Oh, God.
Let's get Sean Conroy on the NFL.
The Yorks in Britain is on the radar.
I don't know.
All right.
All right.

Hey, let's talk to him about freed on this.
Inside the NFL.
On a cold December day.
In the frozen tundra.
Oh, God.
Yago does the NFL.

Charlotte Parker is on Pinterest because we are morally obligated to say that.
And Jules Womack is watching movies with Megan.
So there she is.
And we will neither confirm more than that, but we know that it's true.
Let us combine sports and entertainment as we talk a little bit of pro wrestling.
So we are two weeks away from summer slam.
If I do my math right, sir.
I believe you are.
And we will have, hopefully, have confirmation for you sometime next week.
Whether we will be at Fox and Hound or not.
We are not for sure yet.
They are still trying to work out the technical issues.
So we are two weeks from the paper view.
And tomorrow night on Raw, there will be no Lesnar or no Sina.
Really?
Sina is filming a movie and Lesnar just doesn't care.
Which is sad because we are about to put the belt on his dumb butt.
Please don't let that happen.
And you mean they are going to have to be on the go home show next week,
but wouldn't you have at least one of them on the show tomorrow?
You would think.
Do a pre taped piece or something.
HBO, help a brother out.
Anything is better than a no show.
Hmm.
It was not really a no show if you know they are not going to be there.
They are excused options.
Well, I am just...
They have to know from the top.
To not show up.
I mean, Sina's mom sent a no, it was fine.
And this next stat when I read this the other day,
if Kane has a match on Raw tomorrow night or whenever his next match will be on Raw,
it will be his 400th match on Monday Night Raw.
Not in general on Monday Night Raw.
Who else is in that category, any idea?
That list has to be shortened distinguished.
Because you think about who else has been that consistent on that show?
For 20 years.
He's got to be the only one.
Yeah.
And I'm sure that Don will hear this at some point.
We'll have him look it up for us.
But as far as I know, Kane would be the only person on that list.
God almighty.
That's pretty lofty.
And in sad news, I'm kind of saddened by this.
September 16th, after 30 years,
the final issue of WWE magazine hits the show.
Really?
I read that last night.
So they're just going all digital?
I guess.
And they got the kids magazine, but that's been struggling.
So I'm sure that that will be a collector's item.
I will probably pick up a copy.
Because when I was a kid, I would read some WWE magazine and PWI every month,
I would hit them off the newsstand.
Because there was no internet.
Yeah.
So that was the only, and most of that was in K-Fave anyway.
So you weren't always getting good information from it,
but you were getting something.
Right.
So yeah, another era comes to an end.
That's sad.
I guess it's all part of that whole...
I really hope they're going to give those the people that are on that staff jobs.
Internet jobs within the internet.
Because you know who's responsible for all of their internet stuff.
Done?
Mm-hmm.
I'll be one Joey Styles.
Oh, okay.
You can't tell they're online stuff.
And there was a 70, there's a 7% workforce reduction at WWE this week,
as they're still trying to write the ship after Wall Street not real happy
with the performance of the network.
I guess that's why the magazine's going away.
Well, here's my problem with that.
They don't give it time.
Because it's only in the US right now.
Mm-hmm.
But amongst the people that go is Ricardo Rodriguez.
Oh man.
Very upset about this.
Because he did a great job.
Did they had about the Spanish announce table?
Which he was one of the most animated Spanish announcers I've ever seen.
I always saw them get away from the Spanish announce table.
Ah!
That's really sad.
Very upset by this.
Anybody else have noticed?
Nothing that I've seen.
But they said there's more coming.
Ugh.
They're really cleaning house.
And we're going to talk more about the network here.
Oh wait, we skipped that. Let's talk about it.
Go ahead.
The network for Canada.
The network for Canada.
It's going to...
Right now, they're the only country that you can actually watch the network via traditional television.
But August 12th, their app will be available.
And by the end of the month, it will be done overseas.
About time.
They're holding steady at 700,000 subscribers,
but they're needing that million, million subscriber mark.
They'll get it once they open it overseas.
Oh.
It can't be.
Canada will probably get them 150,000.
Yeah.
Because you know how big they are up there.
Exactly.
Especially if you put Hogan's name on something in Toronto.
And you get it over there in Japan.
And this past week, Monday Night Raw's lead angle was the Stephanie McMahon-Bree Bella angle.
That was the first time in 10 years that an all-female angle headlined raw.
The last time it happened was a Trish versus Lida on December 6th, 2004.
And the only other time it's happened besides that was when Steph dropped the women's title to Lida on August 21st of 2000.
So congratulations on that.
Yeah.
That didn't happen.
There's usually pretty good reason for it, because it's probably not that strong of a field.
Well, one half of that angle I thought did a really good job.
Mm-hmm.
That ain't stuff for me.
All right, let's get on talking about Raw just a little bit.
So Cena comes out in the middle.
They were in Houston Monday night.
And I really thought Cena was more over in Houston.
Man, he got booed.
Because we've always said that there are two demographics of people that Cena's very popular with.
And it's the female demographic and the Hispanic demographic.
Which I never quite figured that one out.
They pretty much almost booed him out of a building.
Really no.
I couldn't believe it. I was in shock.
I was like, really? I thought Cena was a lot more over than this.
And when Steph came out,
they were at...
Hashtag jailbird was actually trending on Twitter.
Hashtag jailbird.
That was a trend.
It truly, truly was.
Because we know she did hard time.
It was funny.
Don't get me wrong.
But I was like, really?
That's what we're doing?
And apparently,
was this what happens when you trust the internet?
We read last week that they were abandoning the Jack Squagger Alexander Rusev.
And apparently, that's back on.
I thought that was a bad idea to dump that thing.
The internet, go figure.
Now, we're going to talk more about this in SmackDown talk.
Because I'm going to be hitting the echo here in just a minute.
Oh no.
Just saying.
And a very funny moment for me during raw.
Randy is beating a snot out of Roman Reigns.
He's ready to arcay on the announce table.
Rips the monitors out of the table.
Chucks them out. Finds JBL's iPad.
Gently moves it to this side.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I was like, really, Randy.
Or, you know, JBL couldn't have grabbed the thing.
Just self-abrained a little bit.
It was just somebody's like, Randy, it's like,
Here you go.
No, don't get them started. That's that's my biggest meltdown in the history of this show was Michael Cole trying to tell me how to download an app on the iPhone
Oh, and it wasn't even right like the screenshot thing you're using wasn't even the iOS it was for oh, don't give me started
And the bell twins have a new logo looks pretty cool. It looks like a butterfly
But it's actually two bees back-to-back with it with like the Roman numeral two in the middle. I dig it
I truly do. It looks like the diva's belt. No, it looks like a butterfly. It's the Bella's logo. I know, but oh, yeah
I'm saying anything about that. Yeah, well be on that idea
Because you hated that belt and I'm telling you I know what's coming
They're gonna turn Nikki heel and I don't want this in any way shape or form. This does no good to your booking
But it's going to happen. Yep, and it just it makes me kind of sick too much riding on the wall
So let's talk a little bit as we change gears a little bit and do a little bit of TNA talk
Wow, there has not been a more confusing story since sting signing with WWE, which by the way
I think has happened since just being about controlling the story. I agree
TMZ reports on Tuesday
That spike will not be renewing impact wrestling when the contract is up in October
Both sides release a statement saying that negotiations are underway and a decision has not been made
All all indicators are saying this is a thing
And with the quality of that show in the last year and a half
Year and a half I'm gonna give it a year and a half. I'm being generous. We do it for the kids. You are being job. You do it for the kids
That this shouldn't be a shock to them. No, but yet you're still signing people
And I to my knowledge there's no takers
There's no there's nobody's saying hey if they dump it will pick it up and this was this was such a thing
This was on Bob and Tom chick talked about this on the show
Now Scott Patasnick in his infinite wisdom is like oh somebody will pick him up brother
You don't know what you're talking about no because this product is not that good. This is a textbook definition of a bad
investment
Part of it from what I'm reading is they were saying Vince Russo is no longer with the company when he still was
Apparently there's some bad blood between him and spike. I don't know why
But he has since left the company, but spikes kind of from what I'm hearing spikes kind of like that might be able to
Wait
He was the linchpin. I don't know he was one of them
That's pretty sad and Vince is going pennies on the dollar pennies on the dollar pennies on the dollar and then I'm gonna have me a sting set to sell next month
Now I would be I'd be okay if he bought it today
We're gonna push the sting thing back a month so we can get all the tn a stuff in there too. I'm okay with it
I won't mortgage the house for that DVD set maybe that has something to do with the workforce reduction as well
Make make no mistake
Because that's that's gonna be a purchase the day that thing goes on presale. You think I'm paying the express to have it at my house a day of releases
That's also tna senior director of marketing daisy marks resign. She's been with this company since 2008
She finally went you know what deuces amount
Later again rats leaving a sinking ship. Yeah, but that rat's been there for a long time
Let's talk a little bit about impact EC3 has formed an army. Oh, okay. There's that an army of what too? Well, let's see. It's him
Rockstar Spud
Rhino
Ezekiel Jackson and Jean Sitsky
Never has there been a bigger army
Then missfits in action and WCW with general erection major guns GI bro
See a current was it corporate corporal loco or whatever chavo was back then sergeant loco
And today is he trying to make out of nowhere his catchphrase because he said it like 190 times on Thursday night
He keeps throwing stuff against the wall to see what he can get to stick
It's like why don't you go back to the reboot of tails from the dark side and be done with it
We put a tail
He looks like the crypt keeper
And god bless taz for trying to carry that show, but he can't know a
Sale barge couldn't carry that show right now
Job is sale barge is a job a sale barge couldn't carry half that show right now
patron saint of lost causes
No, that's that's an undertaking that's what that is and
And that you did have this was destination X
The the tag title match hearties will remember last week. I said that's gonna be good
It did not disappoint. Yes
Allow me to give you the finish to that match, okay
Matt is put up on any Edward shoulders on the turnbuckle
Davey Richards gets up on the turnbuckle pulls him off of
Eddie Edward shoulders slams into the mat and then turns it into a code breaker
Yeah, that was the finish. I was like that was impressive. I don't care who you are that was impressive
Get these guys on raw
Why they did not sign with wwe is still beyond me. I?
I mean that that match was amazing even you because the hardies have lost a step. Let's be honest a step
They still they still look great don't get me wrong
It was still an amazing match, but for them to to hold that match the way they did
Easily match best match I've watched on on impact in six months
I say I thought I thought the hardies have been on crutches for a while now
They're sticking Jeff can definitely still go. Matt's a little slow, but Jeff still got it
Jeff did a swan ton on to the steel steps last week or a week before last
I'll mind off the top row off the top turnbuckle and landed flat on this and still finished a match heck no
When he was wrestling lastly that with that Jeff can still go. He's just crazy as a loan
So
Daniel Bryan fans bad news
He is returned now probably set for the rumble. Oh my god because he's got he's got to have another surgery
He overextended himself choking that guy out that broken to his house. I don't know
But apparently there's there's more damage they found. How did you guys hear about that?
No, he was coming home from Comic Con because they had a they had a panel last Thursday or week before of last
Comes home to his house to his brand new bride. They've been married. He and he and Breed been married
What six months maybe now? They were taken. They got married right to WrestleMania
They came home to two guys breaking into their house. Oh wow and brought Daniel chased one of them down
Put him in a rear naked choke and held him there for five minutes till a cop scotch
Apparently well apparently the guys didn't know it was their house that just happens to be a very rich part of town in Phoenix
Where they just broke into somebody's house?
You picked wrong. Yeah
What are you doing here? Don't lie. He now you die
You know me stutter
Last year in a high school football game somebody just got the snot knocked out of the tuba player in the band play
That is wrong. Yeah
Everyone slowly just carines her eyes over to the tuba player
There's that one guy going alright
They're all looking if you're going ill. You know you're going ill
Congratulations to Kelly Kelly
She is now engaged to NHL and NHL star Sheldon Sory
Either current or former Dallas stars great. I don't know if you still with the team, but yes
I will look that up. So congratulations to the Kelly Kelly big ring big ring
You could be in a helicopter with that ring. I'm not kidding you. It's huge
The next NXT special that's gonna be live on the network is set for September 11th
They're going to be doing their next NXT live show and total divas is set to return September the seventh. So that's a Sunday
So they're keeping that show on Sunday and probably there will be a pay-per-view that night with the way they've been going
Why would you do they did the season finale of that show on a pay-per-view night?
How many times have they done that now three in that show's been on the air less than a year?
Skip a week skip a week move the night
Well, I mean I get it Sunday night. You know you get ready for Monday night. We're all but on a pay-per-view night
Just push it back an hour, but have it air right after the pay-per-view if you're gonna do it that way or skip a week
Just saying it I'm getting so sick of auto correct. I'm trying to type in Sheldon. So I think he's going shielding spray
And it's a picture picture of the character Sheldon the character on big bang theory spraying room spray
Let's talk a little bit about smack down. Excuse me. I need to take a drink real quick. Why do this?
Me me me me me me me me me me me me me okay
Ready chat
Get it over with swagger
Rusev
Summerslam flag match
Smartest men alive. I
Have been calling it for two months and I have ducks is who he's playing. Oh, so he's no longer down start. Okay
And so I know we talked about this when you and I and Don with my niece went to the thial tall on
On Tuesday night, and if you want to know what we saw at little we don't at all you should probably subscribe on iTunes
I'm just saying because you might get another one this week
um
And I told you that day finally job to bow Dallas
To our truth and I was thinking to myself if you really want to drive the fans nuts
They should have waited the job bow Dallas until his 22nd match and let it be Lesnar
You can't say you wouldn't have laughed you can't say it yeah
I would have cracked up and I would have booked that guy with the big eyes to have been there that night just to make it worse
And then he could have had a new shirt that said eat sleep
Boliv repeat oh god, you know
That would have been genius to me and sign of the week this week
Goes to smack down there was somebody they were in corpus. They're on the Texas tour right now
And somebody in this side in the route has either just said attention came art shoppers John Cena shirts and aisle five
I don't know why that made me laugh like it did
But it's it's something different. It's not the same nine signs anymore
You do something different you get credit on this show. That's all I'm saying. I mean not everybody can be sign guy
Nobody can be sign guy. It's something to aspire to by the way front of the show
Rick encore signed gas good friend some day. We're gonna get him on this show
Because I am a big fan of that guy and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet
Also
Friend of the person we dedicated this show tonight. He actually Chris actually met sign guy before we did who's sign guy
He's a guy that goes to all the WDB events
Basically about probably gosh, it probably had been at least 10 years his wife passed away with cancer and
He loves WWE always has and so there was a life insurance policy and she told him
When I'm gone, there's this life insurance policy. I want you to quit your job and just follow them around
He wears a red cap. He's got like a blue worker shirt on. He's got a shirt on looks like a kiss army shirt
But it's his sign guy army and he has the most amazing signs really that all all of the guys knowing like they've all met in
Oh, we're talking about like the the poster boys
In the studio. Okay, my one of my favorites of all time was been family guy first became really a big thing
He had a sign that had quagmire and it just said divas giggity and it just made me laugh and
He's so create like the night after WrestleMania
He had one that said Hogan's cue card and it said smoothie King arena because he called the superdome the silver dome
I mean he's dead on he's a he's a we met him at a couple of the paper views of Fox and how
Really really nice guy can't can't say anything bad about him. I mean, he's an amazing guy
He's been on a deal or no deal. They did a WWE version of deal a no deal
He won like 175,000 or something and some of the some of the guys showed up like Randy was there
Randy edge it was Randy edge
Lashley a big show. What was it Frenchy? I was pretty sure it was there are two heels and two faces that were shown up
If the heels were booing him and the faces showed up. Yeah, it was really cool
And his mom was there with him and so yeah, he's a really really nice guy and he goes and apparently Vince has offered him tickets
Multiple occasions and he won't take him. Well, why he's like I want to buy my own tickets
I want to pay my own way, but Vince is brought in backstage and he's met with some of the guys and
Some of the guys have actually asked for the signs. They're like can you just give me my sign?
That's awesome, but he's a friend of the show and a really great guy by all accounts
You are listening to the clubhouse. Don't forget summer slam is in two weeks
We'll be live from LA. We're gonna we're gonna be on the air regardless whether we're at Fox and Hound or not
We may be back in this I'm hoping that I can clear being back here at the studio by the lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin
Okay, but we may be at another undisclosed location
That is not the Tampa Hilton enjoying another Italian delicacy
Probably not there because we're trying to rotate it around a little bit
Ask him off air about that. That's
This is a family show. Oh, what happened that night was not necessarily
Family or yet, trust me you guys would appreciate this
How that's not a meme yet. I'm still not a more popular meme anyway. All right, let's talk movies
Box office numbers brought to us by our friends at box office mojo.com
two movies topping top that left left left left now dropping out of the top 10 this week
Tammy drops from nine to 13
Making 1.5 million dollars, but it's made of 81 million dollars on a 20 million dollar budget
I have no desire to see that film neither do I like there's nothing on that film that says I want to say and I enjoy the work of Melissa
I do too. I like her better than I like her cousin
Crazy as a loon, but I had no desire to see that
No, also dropping from seven to 12 this week is Transformers really
If you guys seen that piece of junk, you know what I'm saying it again
You cannot convince me that Mark Walberg was born and raised in Paris, Texas. I'm sorry
Is that where it was it that bad guys? It's a transformer. It's in the garage
I'm not kidding you. It's that bad. It's two hours and 45 minutes long first of all
Second of all the second one was like there were second of all and this might be a spoiler award
I don't care because if you see it. I'm gonna punch you in the mouth
You don't get dyno bots until two hours and 15 minutes in and that's the only reason I wanted to see it not in the movie
I'm not kidding you they tease it in the first five minutes and then nothing until two 15
Thank you don't this popcorn. Did you did he just save you 750?
Don't don't eat if somebody gives you 750 pocket the money and run
I cannot defend Michael Bay anymore. I can't do it back to the 750. Where is this?
You see it like 11 o'clock in the morning on a Saturday that you might
Well, where does Don always go or no, he goes. No, it's done. It's value you value you's like if you have the MC and that's a nice theater
It's like 70 bucks. It's like 70 bucks for an eating show. It's not very expensive at all
I could imagine there's not many people out there in any any way
And you know, I was on the AMC embargo for a very long time so they did the marvel well
I'm not talking specifically the mr. 3 but now that they've got that dinin fork thing
Impressive
Impressive. I haven't done the cinema sweets yet, but the dinin fork I've now done twice and this was for that but
Very impressive very impressive. Okay, number 10 this week
Bill of C. More Hoffman one of his final films a most wanted man
$3.3 million for a two-week total of just over $7 million do not have a budget on that
dropping from eight to nine this week a movie that we have and iTunes exclusive for
Called and so it goes with Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton
$3.3 million for a two-week total of $10.5 million don't have a budget on that
But I don't think it was a real big budget directed by Rob Reiner
I'm gonna go ahead and say it enjoyable
Men take your ladies take your ladies on date night and you won't feel like you're sitting through a chick flick
Which is really good kind of like the other woman if you haven't seen that good flick
It's the most unchecked flick chick flick movie. I've seen in about a decade
All right, cuz you know, it's not one of these male bashing movies. It's just male that one guy
So no, it's no, it's really it's really really funny. We went to a screening of it and I didn't feel awkward
Which was nice, but if no, it's really funny really really funny very good, but did you die though?
I'm good
Dropping from six to eight this week is sex tape that is horribly underperforming
3.6 million dollars for a three-week total of 33.9 million dollars on a 40 million dollar budget
Dropping from four to seven the purge and arkey makes another 5.6 million dollars for a three-week total of 63 million dollars on a
99 million dollar budget. Yep
You're gonna get another one make them mistake dropping from the bronze medal to fifth place this week
8.7 million dollars for dawn of the planet of the apes
Four-week total of 189.3 million dollars on a 170 million dollar budget
And that's after losing 385 theaters such a good good flick sets up the third one. Oh touch down giants
So it's not gonna be ten and three giants
It's dropping from the silver medal to fourth place is the latest opus from Dwayne Johnson
Hercules 10.7 million dollars two weeks 52.3 million dollars
100 million dollar budget
This will this could be the first movie that they've lost money that he's been in in a long time
I can't I can't think of the last movie that they lost money on but I think Donald probably looked at it first two
In the bronze medal debuting this week a movie chad scene
Oh my god, the James Brown bio pick get on up also starring Ralph Trezman
But we won't hold that against the film. I did not see him in that movie. He's in it. I didn't see him
Hey, I know he played Sam Cook, but I never saw Sam Cook in it 14 million dollars
Respectable don't have a budget on it
Go see it guys. I'm telling will will do I've been waiting for this one. It is so good Chadwick Boseman
Great as Jackie Robinson amazing as Jackie Robinson and Chad said he's just as good if not better
As James I never see Chadwick Boseman watching that movie. I see James Brown. You still haven't seen 42 have you no you need to you need to watch that
It's really good now Craig Robinson is maceo all I could see was Craig Robinson
But I'm okay with that too because I'm a big Craig Robinson fan and he had his moments, but you know
Chadwick Boseman was amazing
Silver medal is last week's gold medal Lucy
Makes another 18.3 million dollars for a two-week total of 79 and a half million dollars on a 40 million dollar budget
I want to see this. I want to see this one. That's impressive. And it's you know Scarlett Johansson which don't
It's more than three men. It's more than three men. You know what I finally watched too much
I finally watched the Lego movie last night very enjoyable. I did not realize that is Morgan Freeman's first foray into animation
Really? That's what IMDb says even though he was on the electric company for many years and they had animation and he was a cowboy
He was also Dracula love to think about in a kiosk it. I love Morgan Freeman. Look it up. That happened. That was the saddest day of my career
I do love him and winning the weekend and why the heck wouldn't it? Guardians of the galaxy makes 94 million dollars
I god third biggest opening day of the year
Of course you need to get that point of the run sheet making 37.8 million dollars the only two movies that did better on their opening day are
Godzilla and Transformers really
Because that's not even called by its real name. That's just a name but Transformers really
So 37.8 on Friday total for the weekend of 94 million dollars. Did it set a August record?
I'm sure it did but you know what totally worth it
It looks it. It definitely looks it. You can see I winning go into yesterday afternoon
Brilliant now. I will tell you
The extra scene a bit. I anticlimactic
Did I mean I just kind of went oh okay, but you do see Thanos in it and all of his Thanos-ness
He's actually in the film. It's not a spoiler or anything
But yeah, and it is Brolin. It's Brolin in makeup
Oh, so it's not CG. It's just Brolin in prosthetics
Really? I didn't know that and of course
I mean the rest of him's kind of CGI because he's just so free because he's a monster
But yeah
Ronin Ronin the destroyer was awesome. You actually for the first time get to see in it's in being called an infinity gem
Finally, so it's cut down. It's not a big cube or a sphere or a Loki Poke stick or a Loki Poke stick
It was so good and Batista did a really good job
Congratulations Batista because all they really had to do was just grunt and beat no no he has lines
He has lines a bunch of them really. I think they're gonna give him that much to do they really did
I mean they really developed they developed the character of Drax very very well
And Phillian is just kind of a background person that really kind of upset me
But it was grute. That's that's what I'm really
And again, we're talking about this in pre-show
If somebody didn't tell you that Bradley Cooper was the voice of Rocket Raccoon you wouldn't have known because he doesn't use his own voice
And it works really well because every time I've seen him portrayed
He's always had a British accent. That's why I was kind of surprised that Bradley Cooper got picked for that
But it's it's really good. Go check it out. It's worth it's worth
Evening price full price
750
I'd value you. That's the bar now
So that's again Guardians of the Galaxy third largest opening day of the year
I could not be happier about how well great that movie did and you're not only getting the sequel's already been announced
You're getting an animated series too. Yes
Which and this again, we've sat on this show. I'm a big Guardians fan. This is not the Guardians that I read in the 90s
But I'll I'll take this version of it and if you're a fan of 70s and 80s music the soundtrack will very much intrigue
I've got it and it's good and the cover of the soundtrack is the mixtape that he listens to
Yeah, it's really really good and they set up a lot of stuff for the sequel
um
Which is like I said was gonna happen and and guns gonna direct this one too
It's just
It's right at two hours
So it's not it's not gonna require a ton of your time
It's just they developed the characters right
Again Zoe Saldana always hotter on film than she is in real life, which I've never understood
Like when you see on the right carpet. It's like she's so hot, but she's not she's not moving hot
She looks slim
Yeah, like go watch Star Trek watch colombiana watch this
I don't know, but it was really really good and I strongly recommend it
You strongly recommended get on up you were very very impressed with that and that's a litmus test for you
Because you are a big fan not only of jeans brown, but of the genre right
So for you to give it a ringing endorsement to a movie about somebody who was the genre for many many years
That's a big deal
So couple moves. I mean, I mean, I gotta go see it
I can't recommend it so just just just to watch him do his thing
I
We have possible age of Ultron news
We talked about three four months ago about the possibility of Katie Sackoff playing
Miss Marvel
Playing Carol Danvers, right
She's been releasing pictures on Twitter
From her top secret project and there's been too so far. We're waiting on the third one
The first picture is of of a makeup department basically putting a mold over everything but her mouth
The second picture is red patent leather
411mania.com, which is where I get a lot of news items from
Showed a picture of Carol Danvers
As Ms. Marvel
In her outfit that she uses in outer space and it is red and black
Is the sash red is that or is that the outfit that's that's when she's on earth and she's got the yellow
Okay, okay
But when you look at Katie Sackoff you look at Ms. Marvel. I'm in
This is this is perfect casting. This is the chick that played starbuck on battle star galactica
She's also going to be in the all female version of the expendables called the expensive bells that's coming next year
So
I'm if this happens I will be a happy cam counselor. I'm just saying if you can't cancel
I'm still waiting for the footage they showed
At Comic-Con to surface
Well, you're never going to see the Batman did they get pulled down? Oh, no, they said they're never going to do
Officially release that ever really did you guys see that footage?
The Batman v Superman footage they showed a Comic-Con. Oh, oh, dear God pull it up after the show if I can I
Is this the one Brent was it? No, no Brent wasn't in San Diego. Okay. No, this was at San Diego last week
And they just they didn't even announce they were just doing a Warner Brothers panel
And they killed the lights and they played about what 20 seconds 20 30 seconds that they've filmed
And it's basically
Batman in the dark night returns armor
Turns on the bat signal and he's in full armor and the eyes are glowing pouring down rain
Yeah pouring down rain cut up to the to the signal in the sky Superman staring at him in his eyes turn red and then boom
There's the logo
Oh dear God and that that that that hall went absolutely nuts. It was insane and then
Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck walk out and go and Gal Gadot and Gal Gadot because they didn't show her on the show
But got to go film bye. That was it. Thanks for coming. Oh, they did like drop the mic just out. Yeah, I'm so ready for this movie
So two years to wait the quality of these superhero movies has risen. I didn't I wasn't a big fan like the Hulk
Hulk put such a bad
The anglia the anglia version was terrible. Oh my god, but the one the incredible Hulk was really really good. This is the one you know
We're talking about Edward Norton in this. Yeah, that was a good one
And I'm ready for it for ruffalo to get a film because I thought he was amazing in Avengers. Oh, absolutely
And we're supposed to be getting that rumours are strong. Oh another rumor deadpool
The the footage is shown up. I got a chance to watch it this weekend
And I must say they did a great job of emulating deadpool's character
That's one hard character. Yeah, but the whole thing was CG right everything even the caught
I mean when he was yeah when he was on as long as we can ignore X-Men origins
I'm fine see and I was getting the impression that that was footage from the game that came out last
No, no, no, this is this is test footage is what they're saying labeling this as test footage and sir
I have two words for you when it comes to both deadpool and Guardians of the galaxy. Uh-huh. Zen pinball
Stop it. There's tables for both. I haven't bought him yet, but there's tables for both
Once the deadpool versus carnage movie
I would tell you that I'd lose it
Because the trailer for that game I thought was hilarious. Absolutely the deadpool game. Yes. Yeah
All right, this is suck it Wolverine at the end of it
There we go
John Favreaux as we have talked about will be directing a live action jungle book for Disney set for October 9th 2015
Bill Murray is going to play Balloon
You don't exactly have a really good track record of Bill Murray bears and people living together mass hysteria
This is the guy that voiced Garfield and Yogi bear and but this is the guy that photo bombed a couple's engagement photos
And then took a picture with them and then disappeared like a ninja
Don't worry as he's getting older is getting funnier and I didn't think that was possible
Zombielin oh
Zombielin you guys heard about him doing the video didn't you? No, there was a bachelor party going on. It was a two level bar
And the groom everybody was upstairs where they come downstairs and Bill Murray's in the bar
So they grabbed their phones and their film and they're like would you like to say any word to the groom?
He said absolutely so they film him and goes here's the deal don't marry her yet
Stop everything you're doing
Travel around the world together for a month if you can still stand each other after that month then get married right
This thing went viral in like an hour
And then I was talking about a minute ago. There's a couple taking their their engagement pictures
And Bill Murray was just kind of photobombing like way off in the background
And the photographer was like do you want to just be in a picture? He's like sure
So he takes a picture with them that the photograph the photographer looks at his camera looks up Bill Murray's gone
And the Warner Brothers version called Jungle Book Origins is set for October 21st of
2016 a year later
Abandon this or Disney's going to bury you
Tell I'm saying
And uh, I don't know how to take this next story because I'm a little concerned um
Don't principal photography on the Fantastic Four has wrapped I saw what was supposed to be possibly the
I lie inside for the thing. Yeah, that looks kind of cool
But they're saying it's just like a placeholder for it that that wasn't
A thing that well no pun intended
I see that that they just had it set there so people would know what to look like it's to look at whenever they're talking to
Oh, but I think that's exactly what he's gonna look like at least. Yeah
I just I don't know about because I saw the four of them together in a picture that the girl playing sous-storm put on Twitter
Man, we're going young on this thing. I mean, we're going young on this thing
I saw the guy playing mr. Fantastic and he he looks like he's like in his maybe in his mid 20s
Maybe so I'll reserve judgment so I see a trailer
But we also maybe have a director for Ghostbusters 3
Maybe and this isn't the only news. I've heard about this in the last 24 hours Paul Feeg director of bridesmaids
Uh-huh is your latest rumor in a direct Ghostbusters 3?
Can we just bail on this thing because he's talking about making it an all-girl
Ghostbusters squad leave it alone. Yeah, just can we just abandon the thing now? I mean, it's
It's celebrating its 30th anniversary next month and with Harold Ray must be in gone
with no egon
And Venkman probably not doing it. He's right
Yeah, and Bill Murray says the only way he'll do it is if they kill his character in the first real and he can be a ghost in the main
All right
I mean, you know Ernie Hudson will do it as much as I like Ernie Hudson really what's he been doing
After Oz not much and Acroid may have to mix in a salad before they do it
But I'll tell you what did you just did you the picture of him and his wife on the red carpet forget on up
Donna Dixon aging well
You talk about outkicking your coverage
Dan Acroid you're on that list. Yeah, he plays he plays James Brown's business manager
Just saying
And in the strangest entertainment story of the week
The Mike Tyson bio pick is going forward with Jamie Foxx
Yeah, right Mike Tyson
Jamie Foxx
Mike Tyson
And for the young Tyson, they're gonna captain America him
They're gonna do the reverse CGI thing. Oh really yes looper
See I never sat through it looper
Lover and they did the same thing with
Joe's
Because that guy the directed that it's gonna direct star was episode eight. Oh really yes
I just
Like the the rate Charles thing you could almost buy
I don't know that I can buy him as Tyson. No
I knowing how the costume designs work. I see his face as Tyson. Yeah, no problem bald head
Absolutely Tyson
Zeke
No, no, yeah, you better start working out now
Yeah, you only put on about 30 pounds or most is he gonna do the flat top the high top fade though
The Tyson had an 89 when he was in sports illustrated. He has to
I'm not all the way out on this that picture when he was like 19 in sports illustrated
Had that feature on him and he would just stay in there with the I always remember that flat top high top
Oh, let's not forget about the eye the eyebrow the eyebrow. Let's not forget about
You know, have you seen that documentary he did Tyson?
Yeah, really good. Yeah, really really good
And his one man show that he did on HBO the one that's directed by Spike Lee
I did not know he could be that funny
And he's and you talk about when he caught the unbeatable truth
He wasn't he did be pulled no pun intended he pulled no punches in that show. He was straight up about everything
And apparently he um
Holyfield was inducted into the Nevada boxing hall of fame and Tyson inducted him
Really really yes
Did he get a certificate
Apparently they're real close now
And holyfield in bad shape
Holyfield just some real bad shape
I'm sure Tyson was like basically you're always going to be a pot of me. Yeah, well played sir
Chad Womack is Mike Tyson Oscar voters cast your ballots now. Let's not get praise right there
Hey, Jamie. Oh more than me get your spot
Music our movie new releases in places you go see a movie new releases this week

Want this or did you want with Khalifa you had your choice
Well considering that even vanilla himself is re-embracing this have you seen that commercial? No
Whatever whatever product is is promoting pizza hut. No, no, no, it's it's it's it's something on the shelf
He's playing a grocery stock guy that's putting it on the shelf and he's doing this while he's stocking it
You know friend of the friend of the show Adam Kennedy's going ape right now because he loves him some vanilla ice
If he sees that commercial he's gonna lose his mind teenage mutant ninja turtles this week
Have you heard the controversy in Australia? Oh my god. This is so bad
It's being released there on September 11
The poster they're using is the same poster they're using here where they're diving out of a building in New York
That's exploding at the top and it says September 11th at the bottom
Warner australia has had to issue a huge apology
But in this country it opens this Friday I'll go
But Michael Bay right now and me are on the outs and he I know he's not directing this thing
But he's producing it and it's got to I don't want Megan Fox to get her Megan Fox think on this thing
Because she's not April she's not April Neil to me
April Neil I mean
We could we could I know she was or I thought she was a redhead in the show
But she I still think we could have gotten like Isle of Fisher Amy Adams to do this
I didn't okay there. No, I don't Amy Adams. Maybe I do let me say
She also doesn't have the Sasha Baron Cohen stink on her um
Also in case you needed another step up movie step up all in
Got to have it. What were you before halfway? Yeah, we were we were just we were just half a for the last 14 films
I went a real moon walk. You want to say real moon walk? Was it cheating Tatum in the first one or something? Yep, somebody like that. It's where he meant his wife in room
I like how he was playing a Superman in the Lego movie and Jonah Hill was playing Green Lantern that made me happy
Jonah Hill was Green Lantern was pretty dead gum funny. It chart Charlie uh
Charlie from
It's always starting to fill a Delphiya playing 80s space guy made me happy
I
Went a lot about that movie that didn't make me happy
But you know the thing that made me most happy in that movie was Will Arnett
Yes, this is my boyfriend Batman. I'm Batman
Bruce Wayne sounds like a really cool guy
And the song
Dark no parents. I thought you meant everything is awesome. No. No, but that song did very much
I did find myself singing it to myself as I went to bed by side
Into the storm
If you are interested in that or as we like to twist your sequel
If you didn't if you missed twister in the mid 90s very first movie. I ever watched in a in a
Home theater system where I heard something come through the back channels really the when the cow
Mm-hmm
Now the first thing I ever heard on home theater was the THX wild trailer and you got to hear that punch between
Indy and his dad go through the room. That was pretty cool
The 300-foot journey. This is the new Oprah-produced film
It looks pretty funny actually the 100-foot journey. Did I see 300 the 100-foot journey? I apologize with her and Spielberg
Yeah, her and Spielberg in together. Let's go make money. We'll tell you that right now
And Spielberg's producing some new show on Fox this season
Is red band society that looks really good. I saw that the trailer for it is that the gym yesterday
And I saw Spielberg's name on it. Yeah, okay fair enough
Viola's guillin double-duty because she went from doing the James Brown biopic to doing this thing
Oh, that's right. Yep. I do the viola Davis greatness. It's all I'm saying
And if you're if you disagree with me you're wrong and you're a communist
Also this week Daniel Radcliffe shows back up
And a movie called What if
A Wallace who's burned out from a string of failed relationships forms an instant bond with charity who lives with her longtime
boyfriend
Together they puzzle out what it means if your best friend is also the love of your life
Zoe Kazan is in this Megan Park is in it Adam Driver is in this Mackenzie Davis is in this
Uh looks interesting. Well independent film
Probably be showing over at the Angelica
Probably they've got the poster up there. So I'm assuming it will be but it looks really good. I was impressed with it also
I'm gonna need to pull this one up because I don't have a deal on it. It's called about Alex
Oh, if I can type that would be great
Well, let uh
But Scott stat from a happier time say
About Alex
When a group of old college friends reunite over a long weekend after one of them attempts suicide old crushes and resentments shine light on their life decisions and ultimately push friendships and relationships to the brink
A Jason Ritter Maggie Grace Aubrey Plaza Max Mingela Jane Levy Ray Lucas
Sounds good
probably sounds like a
newer version of the big chill maybe a little bit. Yeah it does
And James Cameron's deep sea challenge 3d. I've seen the trailer for this. This is about James Cameron
Building the sub to go into the Marianne's trench
So he's literally exploring the abyss that he talked about and and it's him
It's not somebody that he appoint he goes down in the submarine. Oh, that's that's been his passion. Yeah
And they show how it how they went what they went through where the subs were failing and the designs weren't working and what it took to do it
The trailer is on nothing but trailers looks pretty good and of course you know it's in 3d and so we're gonna be the only way to watch it
DVD and blue ray new releases this week a movie. I know Chad you're interested in and I
I'm gonna wait for your decision before I decide I'm gonna watch this divergent
Yeah, I'm still I'm still waiting to watch it. I've got it, but I haven't watched it yet and also a movie based on this song right here
From the newsboys
I love this it's a great song. I was never a newsboys fan really
But when Michael Tate joined them as Lee Vocalist the stuff they've done since he's been with him has been amazing
God's not dead
Releases this Tuesday. I've heard really really good things about this. I would like I'm looking forward to seeing it
I would be this will be this will be a rental probably next week too
Also the WWE films produced Oculus
Which Don's one-word review review was
I love a one-word review speaking of WWE ladies and gentlemen my name is Paul Heyman
Don't care if you'll love or hate him. I'm interested in this yeah
Because this was the guy that made extreme wrestling a thing
You don't have Paul Heyman. You don't have ECW
No, you don't and you probably don't have a chunk of the Monday Night Wars because
Really the hardcore stuff is really kind of what separated the men from the boys in those days. Yes, it is especially during the attitude era
And the collectors edition of Phantom of the Paradise
Oh
Because we've been longing for a collector's edition of Phantom of the Paradise. This is not the kiss movie
I was fan of the park, right, but this is just as bad. That's all I'm saying Paul Williams and the things
Paul Williams
Who is life size muppet really pretty much fuzzy basically. All right, let's get into tech corner gentlemen
And the biggest announcement that came yesterday
The sale of Beats to Apple is now complete
Drake give me my money
2.6 billion in cash
400 million in assets for a total of three billion dollars. That's not gonna come up my tab, Drake
But Apple will be cutting 200 jobs that are redundant between both companies
Ouch, I guess
Does anybody in this room own Beats? I've had him had yeah, that's me. I've had are they that good because they've actually gotten
They're actually rated on that echelon of headphones as the worst headphone because I've I've heard from people in the industry that have said
They're holding now over here on on my desk. There's a pair of sole republics
These these are amazing and they're half the price exactly
You know, I got I caught a one-day sale on Best Buy where I got those are the $200 mark them for a hundred bucks
And they're gorgeous
And the boat my boss ones blow the boat is a great out of the world
Those for for home theater have really kind of cheapened up a little bit
But they're but their headphones and their earbuds are amazing
Monster makes the beats and I've never been a fan of monster headphones
I think they just do a better job with like the components the wires and whatnot
That's where their their gold lies. I just don't the headphones. I've had a pair and you know, and it's going from
White barely staying your ear iPhone, you know
Yeah, okay, of course, but whenever you're getting into nitty- I've heard you know, you get to talking about these other
Brands and it's like for that echelon and they're nowhere near worth their price and what I love about the sole republics
Sue is everything's interchangeable
So if you're if your wire goes out you don't have to buy a new pair of headphones
You just unplug them buy a new wire plug them right and they all it comes completely taken apart like I can take the ear
But the ear parts off of these the cups yeah, I can take the cups off and yeah, Chad's got the lower version of mine
But you can you can everything's interchangeable
They they make them with a college logos on them that you can buy now and they sound like when Chad bought his
The date, hmm. No, that's um, that's oh you L
This these are endorsed by like um, there's a few DJs that do Michael Phelps and endorses these
Uh, the day he bought his he was wearing them in the car and he and you know
There's no secret that Prince could probably tell you and he probably won't want to do
He'll tell you what hospital prince was born in like that's how big of a fan Chad is a prince right
He's listening to a prince track and says the words to me in the car
I am hearing pieces of this song. I've never heard before
You hear the hear the back the home you hear the bass is yeah
And I'm telling you and they're a fraction of the price of beats and they're
And they're absolutely amazing like when wait when I first found them in the store because they had to know where you could plug your iPod into it
So I queued up um a song by third day that I love that I'd use as a litmus test
And it just my eyes just to budd out and I put it on him and he's like because it starts on me one channel
He's like I can only hear one side go give it a second and it hit me was like oh my god, dude
I think I got a nosebleed. Yeah, they're there and there
I've heard that they're even their earbuds are just insanely good
Like ridiculously good you got him. I thought you and jules both had the the the the Marley
No, those that's that's Marley's not soul house of Marley's a different brand
Trust me about that because I've had those house of Marley's for a long time the house Marley's a good brand too
It's got the same logo on the other the same. Yeah, really
I especially this is settled because I bought those at radio shack for 50% off and they're really good
They but again ear buds just like clips it. They don't stay in my ears real well
So it's it's one of those things where I'll if I'm sitting still like I'm sitting at my desk
I can put ear buds in there fine, but if I'm at the gym
I've got to have full cups because I don't need all that on my head. Oh that ear it takes you
I just want a little $7 a pair at the dollar store
So because I'm not using my $100 headphones at the gym like that was we did a list a few weeks ago about gym etiquette
People that wear beats headphones to the gym. I want to be beat
Because you're you're you're spent all that money and you're in ruin it. What are you doing? Like if you got the beats
Buds I can roll with you because that's what they're designed for yeah
But there was only really one section of beats. I ever liked it. It was the executive
And I'm not paying 400 bucks for a pair of headphones. Oh, I won't point there was 650
That's ridiculous. They were six and now it's gonna be worse because now Apple votes
Yeah, it's gonna become so the proprietary through Apple. Yeah
I wouldn't put it past them if they get to where they actually start modifying the jacks on these things for those phones
And it's going to it's probably gonna jack up your iPhone price
I got a lot of bucks which is gonna suck to you because I don't want the buds that come with my iPhone
The new beat tap yeah, I'm gonna buy I'm gonna buy my iPhone 6 when it comes out
That's why I'm holding on to my four ass because I'm not buying a five S because the six is right around the corner
And I know I'm overdue from my upgrade so they'll do it for me anyway, but
Anything from your front chat for tech corner. No, we need to get to the list. All right. Let's do it gentlemen
We end every show with a list and tonight is no exception
Or is it?
We're gonna forego the list tonight and not just because it's my turn
um
The reason I it's unfortunate that it took
The events of the last 48 hours to get this personnel in the room
And I'm thankful that they're here believe in gentlemen. I could not be happier that you're here
We need to not make it a long time before we do this again anytime you have a sunday that you're available
You call me you're welcome to come in this studio. It's a big bad brother. It is our honor to have you
Um, if you miss the opening to the show
We lost
For lack of a better term one of the greats two days ago. Um, he's a guy that
We were talking in pre show
I've known him half his life
I met him when he was 16 years old um, so I've told the story a billion times now and
In an automobile accident on friday we lost Chris Coronado um a kid who
He really had the world by the short and curlies. Yeah, there's no other way to say that he had
So much going for him
You know to to be a manager of a sports bar
And you're barely old enough to drink right yeah, you know
You can write your ticket at that point
To be somebody who we talk all about in the pre show too. He didn't have any enemies no one like there was nobody
I'd never heard him look at somebody and so oh I can't stand that dude. I can't stand that chick
He was always just like hey, whatever man
You know he always
He loved whatever he did and when I retired the first time
From the DJ industry and that was the biggest one really
He took that mantle after I left for a little while before Brent came in as well right helped out
And when I'd go to visit and he'd refer to me as his mentor it was
It was odd for me because
I never felt I taught him anything, but maybe he just learned it by watching
Um somebody said to me on Facebook this past week that he
All he ever talked about DJing is what he wanted to be like me and I can't
He did I can't wrap my head around that because to to have somebody say that about you is
And I said this in my Facebook puts that is one of the highest honors anyone can ever bestow on me and my
My level of humility can't let me deal with that
Um, and I'm still dealing with this whole thing. So what I thought we do is we go around the horn and just give
Give your favorite memory of him and then um, we're not gonna do the plugs at the end of the show
We've done him earlier
I'm gonna play one song at the end
We play the song you hear in the background right now because when he hosted karaoke
He loved to do this song right and you're probably gonna hear some salty language because I don't have a clean version of it
And tonight I don't care
There's gonna be some songs you're gonna hear in the next few minutes that
Uh
Are of him so Patrick or I want to start with you because you're on my right
Get give our listeners give the Empire just a little taste of of Chris Coronado through your eyes sir, please there's so much um
It's hard. It's it's hard to to give one um
Um
Chris was that guy um, I I'm at Chris
Um, when I started at sports city for you know the the the time I was there um and a lot of people don't remember you worked there
I know that's how I know that you know that's how I know that you know, man. Uh-huh. Yeah
Um
Chris was Chris the host then and and we clicked automatically
I was waiting tables and you know he he came around
Hey, what's going on, you know, he just that kid he was that little ball of energy that was just everywhere all the time
He was that little brother exactly. He was that little brother and and I refer I've always referred to him as my little brother
Um wanting to know wanting to be you know wanting to be involved and whatever what's going on
Wanted you know just wanting to be around
Um, and I knew he was a good kid with a good head on his shoulder. So I was all eight come on. Let's go
Right, let's go um
I remember uh
When his when he had his first child when they found out he was you know, they're gonna have their first kid
Um, he called me one night. Say Pat, I got a I got a I need to talk to you
Hey, what's man? What's going on?
We're having a baby
Man, all right. Congratulations. You ready?
Well, no, but yeah, what I need to do. Hey
We're gonna we're gonna do it together brother. Uh-huh. We're gonna do it together
That was Chris and we did and and and both of his kids
And this is gonna sound weird, but it's the only way I can say it
They were sports at his kids. Yeah, right. Yeah
Those kids have more aunts and uncles than anybody. Oh, yeah
And and more
More people looking out for them and two very strong mothers
Definitely, definitely. You can't say a bad word about right ever and
You talk about something they didn't have any enemies even after
The things with his babies mothers didn't quite work out right still a solid relationship there. Oh, yeah, you know
Cliff, let's go to you
Man, I I didn't have a pleasure knowing Chris as long as pat here did, but I think I I met Chris
I was roughly around 24 25 years old. It was actually the first time that I'd managed to just roll in the sport city and
Instantly when I walk in I mean when you're talking about an individual that
Whenever you're in a room or an environment that it obviously changes the dynamic of the entire environment changes when he's absent
I mean, we're talking about Chris Corinato. I mean, he epitomized that type of a being you ain't lying brother
You know, it was just my initial meeting with him
I knew that there was gonna be something special about the relationship that he and I had
I everybody knows I'm a humongous audio file. I love my music and that was the first instant bond that Chris and I had was the music
I just think we remember walking in the sport city
I believe maybe Ron was there and as I'm approaching the front no one's in there
This is broad daylight maybe three o'clock in the afternoon
I've just moved into the department across the street and decided to wallow over here and grab myself a beer
Chris is just bouncing around and you can
Thinking on the reflecting back on it now knowing just how
The flip in my demeanor just when he came and he approached me. Hey, man. What's going on? What can I get you?
Okay, so obviously we've got that ball of energy there. I sit down
Next thing I know he goes up and he starts playing music and instantly the first song that he played was black and valley
And instantly that was always his track. It was always his track. I love that you remember the first song that he played
I distinctly remember because walking in the sport city. I already had like I already had the
The attitude that you know, I'm probably not going to hear anything to urban in this restaurant
Black and valley you know
And that's about you know that phrase right there. It's really sums it up little did I know
You know little did I know how big of an impact Chris
I and I had we're gonna have with each other of course everybody knows the ties and he and I have the LeBron
And that really just strengthen the relationship which is cousin ability of us to go watch games
um
Another I mean I'm gonna I guess I want to have to make this one B as far as memories go because this right here really
diecast how close and how tightly me and this guy were going to grow
The night that LeBron lost that championship to the Dallas
And 2011 and when the heat went down that first year and everyone was just rallying against Chris
I mean we're talking about a just brutal bar for a 300 400 rowdy drunk maverick's fans
After LeBron has just lost this match. I mean I and I just seek Chris pacing back and forth because everybody's just letting him have it
And finally he walks outside and he's just like I'm he's like I'm tired of everybody messing with me about this heat and I looked at him and I said
You're he too
Chris goes. Yeah, I'm he I'm LeBron and from that moment when he said I'm LeBron
That those two moments right there really sticking my head. I mean there's we're talking about thousands
You know, we're talking about hundreds of thousands of memories
I don't even want to do the other memories in justice by labeling these two specifically just because we had so many
So just going to use this time right now to just shout out Chris
I love you man art the family Renee everyone tagging the kids
I just I love you guys and I want you to know
That we are here for you and as Ben said you have the biggest support structure I've ever seen in my life
So be sure that you reach out to everybody if you need them. We love you guys Chris
We miss you RIP God bless you man and and we'll see you again one day chat
I have a couple
The one that always jumps out at me one of you guys actually posted on your face cliff
WrestleMania 31 maybe 31 29 29 39 31s next year. Yeah, WrestleMania 29 when CM Punk retain his title
Indian style
We're all like hey man your boy what Chris
Where Chris go and we're looking and we're looking at each other like where'd he go and then we look down
This is that fox and how
Sitting cross-legged on the floor cradling his head in his hands
Weeping because his boy won his mask the weeping was so intense. I thought CM had lost I didn't do I thought he had lost
I was like were you rooting for the other guy because you're a CM Punk guy. He's like I'm so happy right now
And we're not saying maybe alcohol didn't have anything to do with that
Great night though great night budget. It was it was absolutely
One of the greatest nights that we've ever spent at Fox and have for a number of reasons
I mean everybody in this room was there and
You know, I've been retired from the business now. It'll be four years in December
And I DJed for 21 years. I hosted karaoke for 16 years a lot of different places a lot of different situations
There's something about
Sports city. Yeah
I've never seen a place
That even now
You can go into and you still feel family right
There are so many people in my life now that had I not ever worked there would not be in my life right
And he's at the top of that list right, you know, I said it in my Facebook page on on Friday that
There were days. I wanted to be in the worst mood ever. I just I didn't I hated the world
He wouldn't he wouldn't let you. Yeah, right let me
He would go out of his way to come up and run his mouth at me just to make me laugh and to get me through a nine hour DJ shift
Which in the industry is unheard of yeah
Oh
Or he was always coming up to me and going hey, have you heard this? Yeah, Chris. I'm a DJ. It's what I do
but
You know, I call him double C
Because another one of his favorite wrestlers of all time is Jeff Jarrett and Jeff Jarrett always spells his name
j-j-e double r-e double t
And so that's why I call him double C because of Jeff Jarrett
And I'd always flashed a Christian cage symbol because it was always two C's in her locking because that was for him
and
He was just like he's the guy that we wish we could be right
Do you talk about somebody that can let something roll off their back right?
this is a dude that
You know and you see it in his old man. Yeah, yeah, arts the saying I can't call him art. He's just he's mr. C to me right you know
They're both people that would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it
And then they'd find another one in case you needed another one right and
He never didn't have a hug from me. He never
Didn't have something funny to tell me he never didn't have something about the kids to talk about
And when Brent called me on Friday
It was just I felt like I was in bizarre a world like
This is when am I gonna wake up from this because this this doesn't happen to rule this doesn't happen
You know one of the things I say is you never a parent should never bury their child
And that's how we all feel right now, you know, I know that's why it took me because people were like you haven't posted anything
You have I was like guys. I can't put the words together
And when the words finally came to me that's when I could put them up and I'm angry. I'm sad
I'm frustrated. Right. I have sorrow
But I know to where he is
It's none of that. He's good. You know somebody. I think it was it was a you Patrick that said that he and Ron are now
I'm more managing the greatest sports bar ever together
No, we lost Ronald last but about a year or gonna half ago
And it just
For lack of a better term dammit, right, you know, right?
Mr. C we love you so much
And I know that he's content in the fact that his family and friends are taking care of because we're all together
This is the biggest family that anybody can have and that's real talk. That's not BS
and it's hard to explain to people who
Don't know
And it's it's not you know, it's not like a an elitist thing you just you can't explain the tangible
And I cannot thank you gentlemen enough for being here with us
For those of you that don't know the viewing will be Tuesday afternoon. We'll post it on our Facebook page later tonight
Um, the service will be Wednesday morning at 10
Click go ahead sir
And you know as we sit here when you talk and I was listening to you kind of recant your story or you know go through your story there
I do actually have I
I now have come to my numero uno moment. There's no A and there's no B on this. I don't have to get this out please do
I distinctly remember
I walking in the sports city and
Chris pulled me over to the side and I was just I was in there on my own and he pulled me to the side say hey, man
This is right on the stand where he and I have just been consistently hanging out. I mean we're just
Buddy buddy at this point brother. I mean this guy is a brother to me regardless of blood or whatever
And he pulls me inside. He said cliff. There's something I want to tell you today and I've never told this to anybody right now
He says honestly
Minus boys like I've never had a
brother. I've never had
Someone stepping in my life that I that I would look at like I look at you
He's like I look up to you man. He said I look up to you as more than a brother
He's like you're almost my father figure to me just because I see
How you handle your business? He said I model my actions after you now and I mean we all know that we've all gone through our tough times
And I remember from that day there was a completely different Chris Coronado. I mean it was just
That's fixing you. How do you react to something like that when you just it just melts your brain and and to have it to be from somebody as a quality of an individual is this kid
You just can't help but have that sense of pride that you know
You know what God maybe sometimes I'm getting something done right right right and believe me little brother
You did it right or not all perfect God bless you Chris, but
You did more right than you did wrong son
And we will miss you so much and normally
Normally we would do the plugs right now, but
Tonight we're gonna go back old school a little bit and we're gonna take you home with a song and
I had to think a lot
Because I didn't want to do the cliche songs. I didn't want to do I wanted to do something different and
Well, we're gonna take you home with tonight
Uh, is one of my favorite newer bands as a Christian band by the name of sidewalk prophets
And this is off of their latest album
The album is called live like that, but the song is called this is not goodbye. So for Chad
For Cliff for Patrick for the Empire
I'm Rob the clubhouse is closed
I can see it in your eyes that you are restless
The time has come for you to leave
It's so hard to let you go
But in this life, I know you have to be
Well, you were made to be
As you step out on the road, I'll say a prayer
So that in my heart you always will be there
This is not goodbye
I know we'll meet again
So let your life begin cause this is not goodbye
I
It's just I love you to take with you until you're home again
Stirring in your soul has left you wondering
Should you stay or turn around
Well, just remember that your dreams, they are a promise
That you were made to change the world
So don't let fear stop you now cause this is not goodbye
I know we'll meet again
So let your life begin cause this is not goodbye
It's just I love you to take with you and still you're home again
Oh
I know the brightest star above was created by the one who loved more than we'll have known
To guide you when you're lost
What started as a still small voice is raging now and your only choice is the follow you are
So follow who you are
Cause this is not goodbye
I know we'll meet again
Oh
This is not goodbye
I know we'll meet again
So let your life begin cause this is not goodbye
It's just I love you to take with you and still you're home
It is I love you to take with you and still you're home
It is I love you to take with you and still you're home
I know we'll meet again
The preceding was a sooner or gator production.
We have to go, we have to go!
