Seeing the footage that Chad and I talked about all week of what happened in Oklahoma
is like, there's no words.
And we're going to talk a little bit about some of the relief efforts that will be going
on this week as the show goes on.

is no longer with us this week.

When I was in elementary school, Paul I drive elementary and
building his Montana at a very good friend of mine named Chris Wise Cup.
And Chris at the age of 12 accidentally swall the balloon and survived.
But there's so much air loss that he had severe brain damage.
And for 30 years he lived basically where he couldn't talk.
He can he all his movements were involuntary.
He couldn't really communicate you name it.
He just lied in a bed and looked around and that was his life.
And I was able to last time I saw Chris.
I think man named Todd Garlock who was his nurse for the last seven years.
We all went to school with.
He was he graduated second in his nursing school in Seattle.
Inside it I'm going back to buildings work with Chris.
And so Chris was 2011 was last time I saw Chris as last time in Montana.
And Chris passed away this Thursday.
After 30 years of basically living life in the horrible situation.
And he took his bath.
He put him as bed he is taking an nap and never woke up.
And he was we say how tough life gets for us.
This guy had a fight every single moment of his life just to live.
And what he had lived was a horrible situation.
But now he's with God.
And I really just it's tough situation isn't so long that.
So my prayers go to Chris to Todd.
It took every for seven years.
There's a place in heaven for you Todd.
And I know Chris is with God now.
So rest in peace.
Good buddy.

Yeah, it hands theater experience and I was curious as to what this was so I looked it up and it's this thing called Dolby Atmos
And what Dolby Atmos is it's 128 tracks of audio
There are literally speakers in the ceiling in the fear so that's what so we wouldn't saw in that with the 3D
And I said we would report back on it on POI tonight
If I had to sum up Dolby Atmos in one word
That one word would be disappointed. Yeah, or as as

By the aliens and the planet and you could kind of hear it run overhead
But the only thing I thought was kind of cool was like when Benedict cumbersback was on the screen and
The camera would move like his voice would move with his face face moving
Okay, that was kind of cool, but other than that, I was not not impressed there was one scene in particular
I thought was a huge distraction. It's when
Alice Eve's character is going through engineering and I'll see and how you doing Kirk Chris Pines Kirk is
Addressing the crew as she's going through engineering you could they literally switch to like she's in engineering
And it's overhead it just got all that echo where you're in like a big hangar type
You know room and I didn't find that point that thing that as distracting as you but you couldn't hear what he was saying
And you knew that it was something important, but you know the gist of it well, but still like they cut back from that shot and
You know Spock is just kind of sitting there looking and I'm like he's waiting for his next sentence and I'm like no
Go back and repeat what the hell you just said because I could understand a word because it was so garbled
Now I know that you've kind of
We've been kind of like yeah, yeah, this this wasn't what we were expecting but honestly
I'm willing to give it another shot with Man of Steel because I personally I think Man of Steel would probably lend itself better to Dolby Atmist and Star Trek wood
If I'm all the flight scenes and fighting in the sky
Yeah, I'm thinking that might sound pretty good in that
I don't really don't know if visually
There was that much of a different especially in 3D
I really think if it's if they can up their game on the audio and
I really think that a movie like Man of Steel would lend itself better to add Miss and Star Trek
If I could when I saw oblivion at the screen they had an atmosphere
In that may the movie so do you felt like when the ship's rolling up and down these in the ships and I'm living that Tom Cruise came out about one to go
If the shook the seat do you feel like you were in that thing and I'm like oh wow

the respect that is due
To the men and women of our armed forces that have made the ultimate sack exactly to protect the freedoms that we and and being inspired by that notion
I dug up a list that was the 10 Memorial Day traditions that are more meaningful than a barbecue
And I bet I know what number one is well, I'm sorry list, but I'm doing number 10
Number 10 visit a veteran's home
I've got two of them sitting in this dude exactly. Yes
They said after the civil war the US found itself with a large number of indigent and disabled veterans who couldn't care for themselves

The first veteran's home was opened in 1864 and since dozens have sprung up to give back to our vets
It's the least that the nation can do but as but we as citizens can do more. I do like though as you talk about that
We are now living in an era, especially
Post 9 11
Where I do see more people and maybe it looks like see I look for it more now
But I do see people like in airports and things if it's ill going up to people that are dressed in their fatigues and just thanking them
Yeah, which I think is a beautiful beautiful thing and
You guys know that I have goals in this life. Okay, and I don't say this for blatant self-promotion, but
It's we don't hide the fact that I stay in a Christian rock band right grace descending

Really at bark we want to be the second. Oh, that would be that's one of our goals. We want to do a USO tour
Because I believe in making sure that these people are taking care of to the health. Yes, just it always have
Because I never served because I didn't feel it was for me personally
But I will you will never hear me say a bad word about anybody who is has or will serve
Yeah, the US I can personally testify to the USO tour when I was stationed in Baghdad
We had a USO
contingent come out and entertain us and
Let me tell you how big of a morale booster that was because for an hour or two
Even though you're surrounded
By the war zone itself
for one or two hours
You can forget about what's going on and just sit there and be honestly entertained by some of your favorite
Artists and our jeans weekend at my job for them the month of June is the Dallas chapter of the US
Greatness and I will give it to Walmart for hiring veterans. Yes, always on board. Okay. We're taking up all chance time here
Number two visit the local veterans cemetery
Yep, some graves are well maintained by family members, but when there are no more living relatives
That chore falls on the shoulders of local veterans groups. I've been fortunate up to go to Arlington
The IV Arlington. I've seen the changing of the guard of the two with the unknown soldier. It's it's
It is an incredibly humble you know, I saw my bucket list. I've been there. I've been there too. It's it
It's nobody can describe to you the feelings
That you get when you're just standing there and they're doing the changing of the guard. It's amazing. Yeah, my head's got to go off to
a lot of the Boy Scout chapters a Boy Scout post that go out to the veteran
Cemetery's and plant the flags
Very similar to how the old guard does it at Arlington and you're 30 minutes from Boy Scout headquarters. You know there. Yes
Number three attend a parade
Not enough cities do a moral day for anything. I'm sure there's going to be one here locally. I'm sure in the morning
Probably they said this one's pretty easy when we were yeah when we were kids. I'm sorry. I know I'm telling you're thunder hit
When we were kids, you know market Boulevard. Yes every year
It was a big stretch that went right through the middle of our hometown and they had a huge parade

He'll talk you'll be friendly and stuff, but I've never seen get emotional, but there's only
One time I've seen him cry ever and that's at the Vietnam wall
He cried out my grandma's funeral, which I wasn't at but when he went to the wall I'd never see my dad crying till that moment
This year's brother's name on that wall. I got my name
It's emotional the main junior year when we went back to DC
We got that we got to see that memorial and at the same time
While we were there, you know the statue that stands there. Yeah, that was sadly
By the way, but they were actually cleaning like they're washing the statue when we were there
And it was also kind of sat around
You know the bike crew is great too. Those bikers that do the run this year. I was every year in the morning
Yes, when you're they actually just left a bike at the wall
You know for the POW stuff, you know

Will be right next to that wall where they'll show stuff that people left over the years

I still do take the time to
honor and thank those that served before me and served after me being a veteran myself
I still go out and do that and

Since we're on a memorial day theme
I have to give a shout out to a very strong woman that I know who has
Who has been paid the ultimate sacrifice and I was with him when he did
It is Michelle Griffin and her husband was a
Comrade of mine staff sergeant Patrick Lee Griffin junior who died on May 13
2003 and I do vanilla I rack so this
As any other week any other memorial day out I will honor him
Because he he died for us and
Being being there and seeing it happen it could have been
Anyone of a handful of people me me included indeed and that's that is why
Do again remember why we do this every year. It's not just a three day weekend. It's it's you know
There's a meaning behind it and whether you served or not if you know somebody just thank them
Because you talk about a thankless job
Yeah, you are literally in a position that that polarizes your nation
And just think about how you feel when somebody just thanks you for doing something nice for
Now multiply that by about a thousand yeah, and that's how it feels when you walk up to our our men and women who serve
Or have served or are getting ready to serve it and that last that last category could be the most important because
You gentlemen know how you felt that night before
You know
As soon as you put your pen to paper
If any group of those three needs your support
It's definitely that third one. Yep to encourage those people and thank them for the the journey
They're about to embark on that will that will shape them for the rest of their lives absolutely
So all of the veterans or families of veterans are listening to this show
