It is 702 on the East Coast.
It is 402 on the West Coast.
It is the 15th of April in the year of our Lord 2017.
It is time for season 8, episode 34, 437 times.
This voice has welcomed you to the clubhouse podcast.
Live every Sunday night, 7 Eastern, 4 Pacific, your one-stop shop for all things pop culture.
And yes, our chat room still doesn't work.
Welcome.
My name is Rob.
I am the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast.
And for the first time in, I can honestly say literally months.
I'm caught up in all my shows, at least for the next 58 minutes, but I'm okay with that.
We're going to talk about that.
You know I'm going to call an audible, we're going to talk about that a little bit later.
But I'm not alone, because I refuse to do the show by myself.
Sitting across from me in the co-host bar stool.
But not a bar stool sports, that's not does, not us.
We love them, but at least he is my co-host and a man who's feeling his age today.
And that's not an age joke, because I go through the same stuff every day.
He is Chad.
Welcome, sir.
Turn the mic on.
Turn the mic.
I had it on earlier.
Turn it off.
You're really not good at this.
Live, podcasting, and I'm like, yeah, we need to start doing mic checks at the beginning
of the show again.
We had it working before you got here.
I didn't touch the mic.
I touched the mic.
I touched the mic.
Next to him is the lady of the house, and a young lady who put up a very excellent
picture of herself on Instagram over the weekend.
We are very proud of the progress she is making.
General is here.
Hello, friend.
Hello, everyone.
And rounding out the dais is the newest member of the cast.
And a man whose generosity extended to Chad today, as he bought Chad and Nintendo Switch.
He is Alex.
Welcome, sir.
It's okay.
Sometimes I feel Chad's age, too.
Did you take a picture of this thing and post it by any time?
I had none.
I was leaving that to the ear.
You should probably do that.
I did that to fit it on our Facebook page.
Okay.
Chad said he wanted to Nintendo Switch and Alex technically got him and Nintendo Switch.
A functional.
It is.
And it is functional.
You are correct, sir.
Chad's going to put that on our social media so you can check it out.
We're back to abnormal.
This is the first studio show that's not WWE involved.
We've done.
I want to say since before the chamber.
I almost want to say before.
Maybe right after.
No, we did ones after.
Did we have one?
Yeah.
Maybe right after the chamber, but it's been at least a month since we've been in studio
to do a normal, fully action-packed show.
I haven't listened to our WrestleMania show yet, so I have no corrections or updates.
But we'll do what to say if you survived WrestleMania, God bless you.
That was a five and a half hour pay-per-view, sir.
By the time it was all said and done, and it was all over about the crying, there was
a lot of that.
Because we're going to talk about other things from WrestleMania weekend today that I didn't
realize.
And probably one of the biggest wrestling headlines we're going to deal with this week.
Wow.
Something is about to happen that I'm very not happy about.
Alex and I talked about it earlier today, that I'm not, I'm not happy.
Because it's the driving force behind something that I have.
So stick around for wrestling talk.
We call that a tease, kids.
And for the first time in a long time, I think we've only done it once this year, we're
going to start with NASCAR, because literally NASCAR started, and we haven't done a regular
show since the day tone of 500.
So that would even be before the chamber, because that was the week before or the week
of the chamber.
Our last regular show was February 11th.
There you go.
Before the chamber.
That would be what?
After the rumble.
So week after the Super Bowl.
So you were close.
Alex.
So by the way, we're going to start, we're going to change the, starting in season nine,
we're going to change the, the tally I've decided.
We're going to give you a number of weekly episodes and a number of total episodes.
Because we are slowly getting to the point.
We are less, we're about 57, 67 episodes where our iTunes exclusives are just as many
as our weekly episodes.
Oh, wow.
So before too long.
We're going to give you the normal weekly episodes and we're going to, you know, cumulative
total.
Because I think that's important.
Yes.
All right.
So here, Russ says he's listening in.
We appreciate that brother.
Hey, Russ.
Uh, so sir, would you like some NASCAR results from today?
You can't have them, you know, why?
Because the race is tomorrow.
Oh, okay.
Good.
Tomorrow, we will have the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500.
I guess it's still kind of started at that.
It's in our town.
I think maybe the weather threw everything off among other things.
Because for those of you that don't know, April and May are the two most volatile months
of the year weather wise and our weather, it's kind of like God's been spinning a wheel
and wherever it lands, that's what the weather's going to be that day.
And apparently it's been hail on my house.
Yeah.
A lot.
I see what you did there.
Yeah.
Okay.
To the point where I actually remind me after the show, I've got to go outside and, and
cut a branch off of a little tree that's outside the guest store, guest room window.
Because it's, it's scraping up against the window and making this horrible noise that
keeps me up all night.
Or is Freddy Krueger trying to break into your backyard?
So next week from, I'm sorry, today, this would, oh no, we were, we're at Bristol.
Last week was the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500.
I apologize.
We were actually at Bristol Motor Speedway, they're going to race tomorrow.
Next week, only for specific people because they're racing on Saturday.
Because it is the Toyota Owners 400.
So I guess the other racers just can't do that.
Racers are a thing on that.
Thanks for staying with me, Chad.
All right.
Let's just go to some standings here.
I was getting a message from Chef Brent.
Oh, okay.
So right now, if the playoffs started today, you're, you're, your, your, your, uh, I'd
mean, out would be William Byron.
Wasn't he a part of the continental Congress?
He is.
That was Willard.
Wow.
You're just lovin' softballs tonight.
He's had a practice.
We got to go to the restaurant.
Doin' well tonight.
It's been two months.
What do you expect?
Where's the fail horn?
So he is 10 minutes behind Ryan.
Hello, Newman.
And Newman is a point behind Paul Menardi.
And yes, his family does own the hardware stores.
Alex Bowman.
Webster.
Moving on.
He is eight points ahead of Menardi.
Austin Dillon, the new sheriff in town.
He's, uh, five points ahead of Bowman.
Eric Almarola is, uh, eighteen points ahead of him.
Eric Jones is about, uh, twenty-six, uh, what the heck was that?
About sixteen points ahead of him, but he's also nine points behind Kyle Larson.
Do you, you didn't get the Eric Jones thing?
No.
Based on the Houston rapper, Mike Jones?
Nothing?
Wow.
Larson in my hair.
I think I might already have a title for tonight's show.
It's going to be called getting back into the swine of things.
Larson is twenty points behind Denny Hamlin.
Make sure you get that with a side of hash browns.
Hamlin is two points behind Kurt Bush.
I prefer to lose over my hamlin.
That's where I was going with that.
That's at Denny's.
Denny Hamlin.
Oh, sweet.
I'm glad NASCAR is the first segment because you've already struck out at the plate, bro.
That was years and closer.
I mean, three swings and three minutes.
Uh, he's, uh, thirteen points behind Brad Keselowski.
Keselowski is twelve points back on Clint Bowyer.
Bowyer is a point back on Martin Truex Jr., who is seven points back on Kevin Harvick.
Kevin Harvick is about eight points behind the man we call the stone, Ryan Blaney.
Lenny is thirteen points back on twenty three points back.
I'm sorry.
I'm showing again.
Oh, and again.
Oh, is thirty eight points back on Kyle Bush, who is leading.
So you got that going for you, which is nice.
We've already talked about what we are next week, and I didn't even know where we were
this week.
So we're off to our running start, kids.
That's what we do here on the show.
People have often asked me, Rob, do you ever edit the show before it goes up?
Probably should.
No, no, because he that's, but see, that's the genius of this show is that we don't edit.
I mean, I, I can't say never because there's, he actually said genius without the figure
close.
There's times.
It's fair.
There's times where I have to edit because certain people say certain things that I can't
let go out to the mass public, but if you listen on you stream, you, you get it, you
get anything for a better or worse for everybody who bet that I was the result for any editing
you have lost.
That energy drink right before the show might have been a bad idea, because it's a new kind
of energy drink I haven't tried before.
Shout out to V8.
10 grams of sugar.
Not bad.
Orange pineapple, two of my favorite things together, and a billion grams of caffeine.
It was very high in the caffeine level on the side of the can.
I miss caffeine.
Oh, I see fireworks coming.
I would never miss caffeine.
I have not had any sense thanksgiving ever just, we're just trying to get the thing back
working again.
This just got a TV talk, shall we?
Can you hit me that tire iron over there, Alex?
After we get the wheels back on the back, somewhere don's listening right now going, it's
not me.
This one's not on me.
It's still Don's fault.
Everything's Don's fault.
First and foremost, we want to send our best out to the family and friends of Onewill
Farrell, who is recovering after a serious car accident, late Thursday night slash Friday
morning.
What I'm reading, he was the passenger in the car.
What I'm reading is the car did roll over, you got one point, I don't have all the details,
but he is recovering.
Like so.
He was coming back from an appearance where he actually appeared as Ron Burgundy on stage
at some event and Scotch, Scotch, Scotch, Scotch down in my bin.
Speaking of SNL and their alums, SNL announced, did you see this May 5th announcement, the
Cinco de Mayo show?
No.
Host, Donald Glover, musical guest, childish Gambino.
That's happened at least once before, hadn't it?
This happened a bunch of times.
How about say at least once before?
So our Swift's done it, MC Hammer's done it, Justin Bieber's done it, I mean, Paul Simon
was the first.
But have any of them used two different names?
Unless Garth Brooks hosted and performed his Chris Danes, I don't think so.
He did?
I believe that that happened at once.
You can go ahead and vocalize that, that's fine.
Oh dear.
That's what, that's why I wasn't vocalized.
We have breaking news that we're going to talk about here in just a little while, breaking
news.
I came across that while looking up information on Will Farrell.
Wow, okay, fair enough.
Yeah, that needed to be included.
We'll talk about that here in a little while.
So we do have a title for the Bad Boys spinoff series that's going to be on NBC, starting
the Gabrielle Union, and it's what the original title for the fourth Bad Boys film was going
to be.
Why are we still doing this?
Well, that was the original working title.
Bad Boys for Life, even though neither one of them are in the show.
But it's about Gabrielle Union's character who was leaving the DEA to join the LAPD because
that's what you do.
And she's going to be partnered up with a character named Nancy McKenna, a working mom
who is jealous of Sid's single lifestyle.
I can't get a sequel to the heat and you're going to give me this.
Was it Nancy McKenna, the name of the-
You're thinking Nancy McKenna, thank you.
The actress from The Facts of Life.
Yes, I was like-
But we're like going for a real stretch on a character name here.
Yeah.
You wouldn't dig-
You wouldn't dig an inch in.
Yeah.
Just let it go for now.
We'll talk about it here in a moment.
Alright.
Another interesting thing that's going to be coming up here-
May 11th, yeah.
Chad, have you had a chance to check out the Duck Tales Revival?
Yes.
Did you see who's joining that cast on May 11th?
As the alter ego for Gizmo Duck.
Character's name is Fenton Crack Shell Cabrera.
No.
Be one Lynn Manuel Miranda.
Oh, really?
There's going to be voicing that character.
We're so ready for next April, aren't we?
Because that's when it all goes down, brother.
We're less than a year away from Hamilton being in our fear of Earth.
Oh, I was just like, where are you going with this?
And if you miss the announcement of the cast for Dancing with the Stars,
by the way, season 26.
I think we're getting a little loose with the term season.
We've already been loose with the term Star for years.
Well, no, this one, because you know how often does an athlete win?
More often than they may.
Very often.
Yeah.
This is all athletes in this particular run.
So you're going to have Olympiad Adam Rapon.
Remember him.
No.
Also Olympian Janie Anderson.
Janie Anderson.
I apologize.
Josh Norman.
Okay.
Arike.
I can't ever say his last name.
Yes.
Chris Madzer.
Johnny Damon.
Oh, dear God.
Mariah.
Mariah.
Mariah Nagasou.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
I know who that is.
Jenny Finch.
How you doing?
How you doing?
Antonio Harding.
Oh.
Hey.
It's your season 26.
Dancing with the Stars cast.
You had Nancy Kerrigan.
It's, you know.
You got it.
It's Kerrigan.
They're just trying to capitalize on the ice, huh?
You're success.
Exactly.
And they're not wrong.
So that's your cast.
So go to Vegas to make your bets now.
And if you want to bet with house money,
you can bet that I will not be watching.
Never watch that episode.
Don't plan on stocking.
Although, Jenny Finch, how you doing?
Well, you didn't even watch with Nicky was on it?
Nope.
I don't.
Just that show does nothing for me.
It's very popular.
People enjoy it.
Yes.
I just figured you.
I have paid for tickets to those shows.
But never watch it.
Which Nicky are we speaking of?
Bella.
I'm not a Nicky ball fan.
I know, but it was still a wrestler.
Yeah.
Is she?
Okay.
She gets a paycheck from them.
So I'm going with, she's paid the bill.
I mean, she's gotten so did Jenny.
She's gotten better over the years.
But I still wouldn't confirm her.
She is paid to be a wrestler.
How about that?
She is a WWE employee.
She is an entertainer.
There you go.
Chad, do you remember the film?
I said picnic at hanging rock?
Yes.
Amazon's doing it as a series.
Yeah.
I see.
I remember reading that fairly recently.
Starring the Natalie Dormer.
I'm a huge fan of her.
How are you doing?
I've been a fan of her since the tutors.
He's not a tutor.
No.
Fans are.
We're getting back into it now.
Fans of Colton Haynes get ready for next season
because he will return to the cast of Arrow as a regular.
Ooh.
So Red Arrow is coming back.
Good.
I'm going to say it though.
I'm sorry to have a problem with Arrow.
Because Oliver Queen is becoming Olivia Benson.
And that was the reason I bailed on SVU.
Because it's like, how can we screw with Benson this week?
They're doing that with Ali.
Now, granted.
If I haven't bailed on Gotham by now,
I'm not bailing on Arrow.
But oh, my God.
I've been dying to talk to you because I watched it.
I know where you're going.
I haven't seen it.
I haven't seen it.
That is straight trash television.
It's a friend of the show, Derek labeled it as his guilty pleasure.
I can't even call it a guilty pleasure.
It's my Batman bias is the only thing that keeps me watching that show.
The way I look at it and the conversation I want to have with you
is that if you were put off by Ready Player One
and how far they strayed from the source material,
there's no way you can watch Gotham with the clear conscience.
I've said that since season two though.
This is awful.
It's just like they've written themselves into such a corner
and they can't get out of it without digging deeper.
We lost the light of day at this point.
This has got to be like an Earth 4 version of Gotham.
This is stupid.
I don't even know that the CW could fix this.
No, it's completely broken.
It is completely broken.
I saw all the social media posts about the big reveal.
At the end of last week's episode.
Right.
I was like, you know what?
I'll give it a shot.
I said that as soon as they introduced that character,
I go, this is where they're going with that.
Yeah, this is because this was way too easy to get to here
from where we were.
Yeah, it's red hair.
It had red hair all over it.
And how clumsily it was handled.
I'm like, wow.
This is like how Lucas churred up the script for a fan of minutes.
You did this over a weekend.
The only thing that made me giggle a little bit was the song
that the band was playing when Gordon showed up.
Yeah, I looked at Joseph like,
is that what I think of what she goes to?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was.
So the crux of the episode is this kid Jerome
who we're assuming is the Joker at this point.
Because he's been laying over.
I'm not even going to spoil anything
because I'm that sadistic and you're going to have to watch it on your own.
Because he's been lingering for two seasons now.
I've literally dropped out in season one.
So this is all news.
He's kidnapped the mayor and the police chief
and some of my ranking church official.
And he's got him at the middle of this music festival.
And he's got explosives in collars
that he's just going to blow their heads off.
If Bruce and this character who is his brother
aren't brought to the edges.
I'm sorry.
I'm glossing over because it doesn't make any sense.
Well, because it's a music festival.
There's all of these instruments on stage.
And as Gordon pulls up.
The band of his cronies.
There's a lot now a band.
He's playing the 66 Batman theme.
Which made me giggle.
And I believe there were even vocals involved
if you listen closely enough.
I couldn't make out what he was saying.
But probably that man.
Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying.
It's just this show is just.
Oh.
Like I get to it and my because I have a list now
because we're going to talk about that in P.O.I.
Your priority.
No, it's just a list of by by an order of how old the shows on behind work.
Got it.
And I get to Gotham and I'm like.
Okay.
Okay.
Here we go.
It's like when you hit.
It's like when you had thunder on your D.F.
Oh.
Right.
But you know most of that on the network now.
About half of the thunder episodes are available on the network.
And I'll let know what I won't be watching.
I do want to watch that first one just for staying.
I want to watch the sting moment again.
Because I can watch that over and over and over again.
So fans of outcast on cinematics.
That will be the season two will be premiering in July.
So get ready for that.
And news that I'm interested in.
Preacher returns June the 24th.
I've got you.
I really got to get.
Okay.
The only thing I'll tell you about Preacher.
Season all of season one has nothing to do with the comic.
I never read.
It leads up to it.
I never read.
Season two.
The only thing that I can tell you that's weirder than season two is Legion.
Because there's nothing on television that's more confusing and makes my brain hurt more than Legion.
I wouldn't give that the time of day either.
Although I enjoy one of the things that tells you is that Aubrey Plaza has the market on crazy chick rolls.
And she does it really well.
She's not acting.
I like Legion.
It's just so trippy.
Yeah.
It's not a show that you can put on and do other stuff.
It's a show that you have to sit down and pay attention to because there's a lot going on here.
And it jumps between realities.
And in season two there's two whole episodes that just take place in his head.
So it's the inception of episodic television.
It's the inception to me board me.
No.
The whole aspect of this is we're going to throw things all over the place.
You're not going to guess anything.
But then when we get to the end we're going to you're going to know what we want you to know.
Yeah.
Oh god.
I like Legion.
And that's what it does.
But it's just so trippy.
Like it's one you literally like shut off the rest of the world for the minute because every episode runs longer than an hour.
Because even without commercials it's 51 minutes.
Well then how well did you digest American Gods?
Very much so.
I enjoyed it.
I'm ready for season two.
Okay.
Because it was so it was so freaky like Legion is trippy.
It's a different kind.
American Gods is out there in its own kind of way.
Legion goes in another direction of just LSD flashback kind of TV.
Hey Russ we did see that.
We're going to talk about that here in a little while.
Let's see.
What else do you need to know?
So this new show that Ryan Murphy is doing called Pose.
It's a musical series set I believe in the world of modeling.
It's going to debut June 3rd on FX at nine Eastern.
Listen to this cast.
You have Evan Peters.
James Vanderbeak and Kate Mara.
So I'll be checking that out maybe.
Peyton List and Wayne Brady are going to join season three of colony.
The USA show.
Wayne Brady?
That's what I read.
Seems an odd fit.
I thought he was touring with Hamilton.
Maybe he's doing it in between.
I know he was in the Chicago production.
I don't know if he went straight touring with it or not.
Yeah they were making a really big deal.
He was joining the touring production in Hamilton.
Fans of NCIS rejoiced.
They've been CBS's renewed them for season 16.
My God.
Mark Harmon apparently returning.
Didn't know he was gone.
I didn't either.
The other place Abby Shooter's the one I knew was leaving.
They said that Mark Harmon was returning and it was a big deal.
Interesting.
So let's have gone.
It news.
And it news that's kind of making me go.
I don't know if I want this but I kind of really do.
There is talk of a 30 rock revival.
I did see that.
I love 30 rock.
I kind of feel like it needs to sit where it is but I'm curious to see what they would do with it.
But I was also curious to watch Will and Grace and I didn't and I was curious to watch Roseanne and I didn't.
So take that for what you're paying for it.
Adam Savage news from him this week.
He's returning to the science channel to host Mythbusters Jr.
Okay.
So you got that going for you.
Didn't we call that Mr. Wizard going up?
No no that was before Mythbusters.
That's what I'm saying.
But Mythbusters was the adult version of Mr. Wizard.
Now we're reverting back.
We're rebooting.
We're getting some kids to think things through and processes through.
I'm on board.
I'm on firecracker.
I'm on board.
Don't do me wrong.
Oh god.
But I'm just saying.
It's not just pushing, sending science.
Let's test some theories.
No, I'm on board with it.
Don't do me wrong.
HBO has renewed Barry for season two.
This is the.
Already?
Yeah.
Well, I mean.
Hater's returned to SNL was great.
And it's getting rave reviews on the show.
I saw the premiere and I was just like, alright.
I think it may take a little while to just kind of lock him into a role like that.
I think that's what it is.
I can't.
I can't buy him as it is.
Silicon Valley renewed for season six.
I feel like I should be watching this show, but I really don't want to.
You should.
I've done with it.
No, no, no.
I thought so.
Miller was gone.
Well, he's got his own set of problems.
He's dealing with it.
That is true.
But you guys know my issue.
I mean, Alex specifically, you know, my issue with one of the stars of that show.
That is fair.
That Verizon campaign is absolutely beating.
And I know that I like Thomas Middleditch, but that campaign is terrible.
And it's just, and they're just beating all of those commercials into the ground.
You know, less of that more of a range than the Arby's commercials.
Although I would.
Have you seen the newest one with it with the, with the euros?
No.
No.
That's not new.
They bring it back every year.
You haven't seen what they've done with it.
No.
Oh, they're playing holding out for a hero.
Oh, yes.
Yes.
I'm holding out for it.
You.
Yeah.
God bless you, VingRames.
But I, to bring it back to the Silicon Valley, it almost makes the campaign that's so annoying
that he does worth it because he gets so much punishment during the show.
From the episodes I've seen, he does pretty much take out Netflix news.
They have renewed Alexa and Katie and on my block for season two.
They've renewed Jessica Jones for season three.
Oh, nice.
But they have canceled everything sucks.
Yeah.
People were all up in arms.
Because apparently there's a big cliffhanger to end of that.
Yeah.
And it's just going to literally end on a cliffhanger.
The CW has renewed all of its DC properties for next year.
They haven't announced IZombie yet, but apparently IZombie that announcement always comes later.
But John Constantine will be joining Legends of Tomorrow.
Great season finale this past week.
There's a moment towards the end that makes the whole thing worth it.
I was very excited.
I don't want to give anything away because if you haven't watched it, go watch it.
I've bailed on that show too, season two.
Broad City is going to end after season five.
I know some people that are big fans of that show.
Yeah, but those, those girls are getting a lot of work in other areas.
Absolutely.
Oh, absolutely.
Did you also see this, uh, another announcement that Netflix made this week.
Martin Scorsese is directing a documentary based on an SC TV reunion.
Really.
Very interested in this.
Hmm.
So TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
Uh, the Einstein Genius.
You see within the next series that's going to be.
It's this National Geographic series called Genius.
The Einstein was season one.
Right.
Season two will be Picasso.
And he is being played by.
Welcome to the, how do you say?
Yes.
I saw that show.
I saw, yeah, I saw something on that.
Yeah, because one of my favorite SNL sketches of all time.
Yeah, because Jeffrey Russia is apparently not doing.
Well, I'm sorry to hear that.
Yeah, he's, he's become ever since the accusations.
He's become a complete shut-in.
I know.
That's one thing I love about living near a fire station.
I can relate.
We got one run down the street.
Also season one of claws.
And this has been your hearing test for the day.
Yes.
If you're into that show, which I'm really not.
Season three of 12 monkeys, that thing's apparently still going.
Did not know that.
Didn't know that either.
Season three of Killjoy's, which Fred and the show Jim Bragle,
who's going to be on the show very, very soon.
He is participating in an online project that I'm finding very,
very interesting and I don't want to give it away.
But he's going to be on the show very, very soon to talk about it.
So, but he's a big fan of Killjoy's.
It says it's an amazing show and you have to check it out.
Chef Brint just asked.
Any news on Krypton?
Is anybody watching that yet?
I have heard nothing but wonderful things.
It's only six episodes.
He says it's the best.
Briggle is watching it.
He says it gets better every week.
I'm going to wait till all six episodes air and then I'm just going to binge them all.
I think I'll do the same thing.
I have the DVR going on that too.
Because my whole thing is for me, it could go either way.
Because like this could be cool or superman's grandpa.
Yeah.
Like literally.
That's what it is.
So as much as that Doug Smallville.
And season 11 of MST3K drops this week.
The newest version.
They're calling it season 11.
So is it all the originals or...
No, have you not heard the word?
No.
Pat and Oswald's in it.
What?
Yes.
Oh no, you're going to need to do some research on this.
Felicia, daily people involved.
Oh my god.
It's on Netflix.
Oh, I'm so in.
I can't believe you didn't know about this.
I had no idea.
No.
I've heard wonderful, wonderful things.
Yes.
I haven't had a chance to check it out.
And locally they were showing the original stuff on Channel 13, the Jules Saad.
She goes, what is this?
And why have I not ever heard about it?
And I'm like, we need to get you caught up on some stuff.
You are listening to the Clubhouse podcast live every Sunday night,
7 Eastern, 4 Pacific.
Make sure you're subscribing to the show on your favorite podcast app as well.
Because we do a lot of stuff for that audience that the live audience doesn't necessarily get.
We've done 370 of them.
So be aware of all the stuff that we're doing.
We've got some great stuff coming up that we can't announce just yet because it's not completely locked down.
But if you know what time of year it is, you know the potential of what's coming up.
So I also want to give a shout out as we're getting into POI.
We also call person of interest.
It's a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity,
and we debate their greatness or lack thereof.
Originally, we were going to talk about Andre.
Alex and I watched it today.
Okay.
I thought maybe that was going to isolate at least half of the room.
Yeah, I haven't watched it yet.
So I will say this very, very good.
Okay.
It's an hour and 21 minutes.
It's a quick watch.
But it's a really, really good look at Andre.
And I'll tell you what really, really impressed me was Vince.
He's very candid.
One thing I was telling Alex as an ended is I like that as the years are going on
that Vince is starting to be like,
okay, I can be more human and more vulnerable.
Like he doesn't have to be Mr. McMan any time there's a can.
That's good.
He's got to the point where he's like,
it was weird that when the interview chain, it just said,
Shane McMahon.
Like he has a job.
He's the only one that doesn't have a title in the whole thing.
And they didn't label Oak Irland as a Hall of Famer.
Everybody else like Flare, Hogan,
and referee Tim White is a big player because he was Andre's handler.
The great Tim White.
Yes.
A big fan of the great Tim White.
But instead, I kind of called an audible because as we get into PLI,
I want to talk about a very, very big happening in the life of this guy
in the last month.
This is something that I've been working towards for the better part of a year.
And it really, the hinge was the lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin.
We cut the cable about a month ago.
And it was an ongoing discussion with my wife because of what we've done.
We have gone to what's called Direct TV Now.
That's not a description.
That's the name of your...
Oh, you're on Direct TV now.
No, no.
Not like the time frame.
That's the name of it.
It's the name of the service.
Right.
Now is part of the name of the service.
So for those of you that are not well versed in this, here's the deal.
This is an AT&T service.
So we got rid of our U-verse.
And it is Direct TV streaming service.
I will tell you that the catalyst for me is that we have reduced our cable bill by 75%.
Wow.
That's not an introductory rate.
No, that's...
When it actually...
And I'll tell you how it works.
Okay.
So...
You have to have an internet connection, of course.
Right.
We actually upgraded our internet connection to the full-blown AT&T fiber.
That's what I've got, yeah.
Which, you know, we're paying, I think, 90 bucks a month.
I think so.
For that.
Right at 90.
With Direct TV Now, you have four different packages.
I'm actually going to...
And you can go to DirectTVNow.com.
They're not a sponsor if they want a sponsor to show it or more than welcome to.
And I want to tell you about the packages that they offer.
You don't need any equipment except a streaming device.
Whether it's a Roku, whether it's an Apple TV which we have.
I actually paid for three months up front and they gave me a 4K Apple TV for free.
Very nice.
So you download the app.
You can put the app on your phone.
You can do it on your computer.
It works anywhere.
And you can have just like...
No.
Just like...
What am I thinking of?
Just like the network.
Two people can be signed on at the same time.
There's no contracts.
All you need is something that's streamed.
So if you have a TV that has a Roku built into it.
You don't need to buy anything else.
Nice.
You just download the Direct TV Now app.
And the only thing that was really driving my wife crazy is that they don't have a...
It doesn't have a DVR service yet.
It is coming.
It's been in beta for about six months.
You know a couple people that are on the beta.
And they're saying it's about 100 hours and it's cloud-based.
So for somebody like Alex who has a lady who travels a lot.
So like when Sean's got to go to Seattle or whatever.
She can still access and watch what's on the DVR and control it.
You don't have to...
Some people like...
Like you said with your Direct TV you have to sign on to it there.
And then you can go...
It's an app.
So you don't have to ever worry about that.
You can get a free Amazon Fire TV if you prepay for two months.
Three months you get the Apple 4K TV.
So there are four different packages.
You start with for 35 bucks a month.
It's called the Live A Little Package.
So it's 60 channels ish.
The just right package is 80.
Go big 100 that got to have it 120 plus.
Now if you are a AT&T customer and you have an unlimited data plan on your phone.
You get HBO free for life.
Wow.
Also if you're an AT&T customer with an unlimited plan.
You get $15 a month off on top of that.
Very nice.
So we of course got got to have it.
You know what I mean?
Got to go big.
The got to have it package is $70 a month.
So the got to have a package with HBO once the regular billing starts.
Because to get the free Apple TV I had to pay the full price.
Which is fine.
It was like for three months it was like $240.
Which is about what we pay for three months.
With the internet.
I'm going to have for $55 a month sir.
120 plus pack.
Now the other thing I don't get like for here living in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
Your network channels are the Dallas channels.
Okay.
So I'm getting Fox 4 NBC 5 and ABC 8.
CWs on there.
Channel 21 TXA is on there.
27.
27 is on there.
The my 27.
47 is not.
So I don't get ROH.
Okay.
And it doesn't have a sports package for Nesson.
So I don't get ROH there either.
So I'm kind of working without a net on ROH.
Now Alex does have honor club.
But that's always a week behind.
Okay.
But I can still get my ROH fix.
Should I choose to do so?
All right.
Now it does have in some cases it has a 72 hour look back.
So they don't have a DVR.
On most shows if it's aired within the last 72 hours you can go back and watch it.
They're on demand.
The downside is they're on demand.
They've got to fix the audio levels because when I watch it at home it almost sounds distorted.
On anything on demand or just any any of the direct TV now on demand.
Now if I watch it on my phone it's fine.
That's that's bizarre.
But what I do instead is I'll just go to the CW app and watch all my CW shows.
Now for anything like the Goldbergs, Agents of Shield, The Simpsons, Family Guy and there's a couple others.
A Smackdown in RAW.
I can watch on Hulu.
And we already have a Hulu subscription.
So I just added four bucks a month to that and I get it commercial free.
Oh wow.
Which is nice.
Now the only thing that's not commercial free is Agents of Shield.
But the way Hulu gets around that they're like due to streaming rights.
We can't be commercial free.
However we're going to show you one commercial at the beginning and one commercial at the end.
And they're longer commercials.
Oh it's not even the longer ones.
It's like a 15 second commercial and here we go.
So I've been watching the last three weeks of Agents of Shield.
And yes I'm still on that show today.
I've had it with Hulu where it pulls up.
Like if you want to see a one minute commercial now.
No that's the Fox app does that.
Now maybe your Hulu subscription doesn't.
Does that but mine doesn't because I'm commercial free.
Now Hulu has their own version but it's kind of expensive.
Like they have a DDR service but their DVR service for their shows is like 40 bucks a month.
Screw that.
Not doing that.
So you also have options for premium channels.
Now let me see if I can pull that up for you.
I know that HBO is one of those deals where it's like eight bucks a month or something.
And like you can get HBO Cinemax stars.
Well stars comes with it.
No stars does not come with it but you can get stars.
And you get a lot of different stuff.
And they're not showing them on core or their own thing.
Yeah.
You got HBO and Cinemax are together.
There's something that I don't have why they don't have the thing on here for that.
But I think the most expensive one is HBO and it's like eight bucks a month.
It's not bad.
The other ones are like five.
So it's just like all a card just kind of picking and choosing.
Yeah.
But again, if you have an unlimited plan, you get HBO free.
Yeah, true.
And 15 bucks a month off.
That's pretty good.
That's a pretty good deal.
I mean, I've been in on this for a year.
It's been getting my wife on board because, you know, my wife, my wife likes to watch her grades and Adam Young 39.
Yeah.
She likes to watch her the voice when she wants to.
So I put the Apple 4K TV in the living room, put the Roku in the bedroom.
Now the on-demand stuff, I'm not getting in 5.1.
Not really worried about that.
Yeah.
I haven't really messed a lot with the live TV part of it.
Just to test it out.
Right.
But when I knew my wife understood, she said she was talking to one of her.
Because again, we're saving $150 dollars a month on our cable bill.
So she was talking to one of her co-workers.
And one of her co-workers was like, are you not going to watch Grace live?
You have to wait a day.
And my wife in her infinite wisdom.
And I say that not facetiously.
She shows I looked at my coworker and I said, to wait a day, saving me $1,800 dollars a year.
I said, thank you, Jesus.
She gets it.
Because yes, there is a learning curve to it.
I especially with the Apple TV because that remote, there is a learning curve to it.
Because it's touch sensitive.
So there's some things that you should have to do to kind of get used to it.
But when I watched SNL on Hulu today, and you know how I am with these musical guests,
you got 30 seconds.
And if you don't have me, I'm fast-forwarding you.
It's a 10 second jump.
It's time to do that more than I normally would with my Uverse remote.
But again, $1,800 a year.
And you're going to bother me.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's a small price thing.
Now, you can't do it on my Xbox One.
I don't know why.
Like, PlayStation I understand because PlayStation has PlayStation View.
And they want you to use that service.
I don't know why it's not compatible with my Xbox One.
Maybe not yet.
Maybe they just don't have an app for you.
It could be.
They're probably just waiting.
But I have it on the Apple TV.
At some point, I want to get a TV.
I know a 32 will sit on that counter really nicely.
And I found one on Amazon.
I just got to get some money together.
That has a Roku built into it.
Yeah, that's what I needed.
So we could still do it in the studio.
But I'm impressed so far.
It's Alex has his hand up.
Well, and since you had been talking with the sensational Shawnee and I about it,
she has been doing some research.
I've been looking into it.
One of the problems we have is we're in a bit more of a remote area
where internet can become a problem.
And there's been a lot of buffering complaints if you're not near a good source.
Yeah.
The part is, and this is allegedly, but it makes sense.
My favorite part of the reason why they're giving away the Apple TVs
or the Amazon fire sticks is if you have even the slightest issue with internet,
the Roku's have been having issue playing and buffering.
So there is that along with it.
I'm not sure I understand what you just said.
The Roku has been having issues with excessive buffering.
Oh, okay.
If there is any even a slight interruption, like a lot of internet can pick up
if there's just a quick blip.
Apparently, Roku's don't like that.
I can't kick you off.
Like, it'll buffer and we had stuff.
But that's good to know.
That's good to know.
That's good to know.
That's for your show to come right.
Yeah.
And I can tell you right now, a lot of what you said had both Shawnee and I going,
we need to look into this.
We need to understand if this is for us, then you go out on the other side of the lake
where we're out towards the middle of nowhere.
And it's like, you really don't want to do this.
Well, and there's going to come a time where that's going to get caught up.
Right.
So, you know, you just wait until that happens.
Well, I just have to wait for the older people in Rockwall to start passing away
and get a younger generation in.
And he understands that we need fiber optics.
But it's, I'm impressed with it.
Like, I was on the road a couple of weeks ago.
I know.
Don't give me that look.
I was on the road a couple of weeks ago in Boston and cued up a show to watch
when I was at the hotel.
Had no issues.
Like, got right on, went with it.
Now, my, my other issue was Ron Smackdown.
Because it doesn't have a DVR and USA doesn't have that 72 hour look back.
Uh-huh.
Hulu picks up the slack for me.
I can watch Smackdown without commercials.
Raw's a little different.
It's a 90 minute version of raw.
Without commercials.
I don't have any.
Well, here's my thing.
When I watch raw and I had it on my DVR to get all the way through, took me two hours.
So you're losing content from raw and I don't know why.
I don't know if you're losing content.
Well, for the, for the sake of this show and the notes that I take,
from my, my iPads in the other room in the backpack,
uh, I'm a little worried about that.
Because I feel like there's content I'm going to miss that I would normally take notes on for the show.
But I'm going to have to see how that works out.
Has it been explained why it's not available on the network app?
It's the contract they have with NBCU Universal.
But that might be changing too.
I would hope so.
Well, no, I'm talking who's carrying it.
Really?
I read today that ESPN is in talks to start carrying UFC events,
which now opens the door for Vince to talk to Fox.
Oh, really?
Because that contract with NBCU is up in New Year's Eve.
Wow.
Which is why they did the Facebook.
That's why they did the Mixmax Challenge on Facebook.
Watch because Vince is trying to put his dealers out to see what things are viable and what things aren't.
Well, one of their most successful things has been their YouTube channel.
So they were looking to see what they could do if they could profit off of doing something online that isn't the network.
But it is a more mainstream.
That's smart.
That's very smart.
It just didn't work.
Yeah.
Well, I think it's because of what that was.
Also true.
I mean, it's smart that he's that he's keeping his options open.
That he's not being so myopic about it.
He's just like, you know, I'm right.
And I'm convinced that I'm right.
You'll never convince me that I'm not right.
I'm not right.
I'm convinced it can't be.
I know what's going on.
I just turned into a dog.
You kind of did.
All right.
So let's keep moving on talk a little bit of NBA.
Sorry about that.
Big NBA news today.
As the Pacers beat the Cavaliers.
It's the first first round loss LeBron has had in 21 straight games.
Really?
So we are in the round of 16 as a tour.
By the way, Man City won the deal today if you're into soccer.
And your wife is food.
Have you not watched the DVD yet?
Did I give you to watch?
Sir.
Are you Southern Gents of comedy?
I have not.
Okay.
So it's soccer.
You'll understand why when you watch it.
So you've got.
Norowinds is up on Portland won nothing in that series.
That's a six over a three Golden State already up 1-0 on San Antonio.
The Raptors up on Washington.
Indiana up on Cleveland.
Miami of course losing one to nothing.
Trust the process.
Yeah.
Not really.
And Milwaukee is down a 1-0 to Boston.
All right.
Let's move on and do a little bit of what I like to call MLB talk.
And we're not going to talk a lot about a major league baseball today.
But you're going to need to know one thing.
Give me just one moment and I'll tell you what that one thing is.
Would you like the comparison?
I've got it.
Okay.
Let's see.
Cincinnati has two wins.
Atlanta has eight wins.
That's all you need to know right now.
I feel slighted.
Moving on.
All right.
This is a music talk.
Boy, what a weird week for music this week.
Lindsey Buckingham out of Fleetwood Mac.
That is so weird.
That is so weird.
And get a half to be replaced by two.
Well, and the two people that are replacing him are no slouches.
I know.
That's what I'm saying.
One is Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Uh-huh.
The other one being one Neil Finn of Crowded House.
And it's taking those two talents to replace one.
It's because it's Lindsey Buckingham.
I know.
He's amazing.
That's what I'm saying.
That's not the one of the ones that I heard though.
Those are the two.
Who did you hear?
Or maybe that was in another band.
Was this a goof?
I read somewhere about Axel Rose's name coming up.
That's ECDC.
Oh, it is?
Yeah, it's ECDC.
Oh.
He toured with them last summer.
Okay.
They made it sound like it was going in a Fleetwood Mac.
I'm like, that doesn't make any sense.
No, no.
That's not only that happened when it's raining.
Are you sure that's not the onion?
No, I'm out.
Yeah, maybe so.
I don't know.
You may have wanted to check the date on that story that might have been April 1st.
No, no.
It was like a couple days ago when it was a Buckingham thing broke.
I'm like, no.
That doesn't sound like it.
I couldn't get this thing together for what?
It's because this is the last tour.
Y'all can't fight through this for one tour.
Well, fighting really, I guess.
Fighting being the operative word.
Residuals do last for the rest of their lives.
The Adele has gotten ordained.
What?
So she can marry friends of hers.
She can actually get officiate weddings.
I would know nothing about that.
But.
And, of course, this weekend being the Coachella.
I could care less.
But apparently the Beyonce reunited with the Destiny's child at the Coachella.
And then Yodeling Kid from Walmart got his moment on.
Are you serious?
I wish I was.
LA has beaten that into the ground when he comes over here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I said it.
I agree with you.
He beat it through the ground.
We're into the crust.
I love art people.
You guys know the amount of love I have for this group of people.
But LA, that clip.
Let's try.
If you ever break that thing out again, LA, you're eating that phone.
You know, you just asked for that to happen.
He's going to get fed his phone.
I blame you, sir.
Yes, yes, yes.
Music me releases in place as you get music me releases this Friday.
A perfect circle is back.
I prefer that stuff to the tool stuff.
I just do.
And the album is called Eat the Elephant.
One bite at a time.
One bite.
Alexis Taylor.
She's popular with the kids at the close in the hair.
A beautiful thing is the name of that new album.
The Melvins.
Have a new album.
You're going to wear a shirt of the band that you're going to see.
Don't be that guy.
Was that the shirt that he was wearing?
Yeah, it's Melvins.
It's been so long since I've seen that.
An old chrome medicine show is back.
Who?
You ever heard of old chrome medicine show?
No.
Very popular kind of borderline country indie rock southern style.
Exactly.
What have you never heard of?
Albums called Volunteer Pennywise.
Has a new album called Never Gonna Die.
Speak and put a pin in that because we're going to talk about Pennywise here in a little while too.
Sting and Shaggy.
Go on.
Wait, wait, go on.
It's called 44-876.
I saw this on Metacritic and I'm like,
are we taking this literally or is this a band called Sting and Shaggy?
Is this a bit or is this really what this is?
I'm actually going to type this into the...
I feel like I'm just like...
Ensuring the two biggest hits being combined.
One of them is just peaking through the window.
The other one's cheating.
I'm going to show you the cover of this album.
Oh, really?
This is happening.
This is happening.
From Onion Records.
From Onion Records.
Is that a thing?
I wonder if that's...
I don't know.
44 and 876 are like the number of days that they've been in the business.
I don't know.
It's their ages.
No reviews yet.
Looks like the single is called Don't Make Me Wait.
Oh, I'm okay with you doing that.
Oh, I do have a track list for you.
Oh, boy.
You have 44, 876 featuring Morgan Heritage and Idonia.
You have Morning is coming, waiting for the break of day.
Gotta get back my baby.
Isn't that backwards?
Don't make me wait just one lifetime, 22nd Street, dreaming in the USA.
Crooked Tree to Love and Be Loved.
Sad Trombone and Night Shift.
Queue the sad Trombone.
Striper's got a brand new album this week.
I want to say the name of this album very slowly so that you understand that this is a silly family show.
New Striper album.
Stay with me.
Okay.
It is called God Damn Evil.
You see what they did there?
Okay.
It's more of a request than a curse word.
I've heard a couple songs.
Yeah.
I'm very met.
Love the boys.
Don't get me wrong.
And Tessa Racked.
I just put on there because I like the name of that band.
I'm called Sonder.
S-O-N-D-E-R-N-S-A-U.
So I don't know.
All right.
That's like a little bit of hacky.
What did you hear about the revamp?
The songs of Elton John and Bernie Toppen that people redid some of Elton songs that came out.
I have not heard about this.
I actually did get it.
I like it.
You've got Pink, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Florence in the Machine, Mumford and Son.
Q-Tip, The Killers, Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga.
Anyway, there's several on here.
I could do without the Mary J. Blige.
Sorry, it seems to be the hardest.
We can all do without Mary J. Blige.
But it's actually pretty interesting to see these people redoing the songs.
Gaga is the closest to how Elton actually did.
Have you seen or have you heard this Ed Sheeran story?
You know, he's doing a stadium tour this fall.
Just him and his acoustic.
It's all stadiums.
Seven NFL teams have had to rearrange their schedule because of it.
How do you not get that locked down?
I don't know.
That makes no sense.
I have a question.
It's a general question.
I mean, great.
Did you got the flex thing?
However, just say it.
Apparently, Sting and Shaggy are going to be playing at Queen Elizabeth's birthday concert.
I haven't gotten my invitation to that yet.
Have you?
This thing is dropping on 420.
Have some ROH news.
I'm going to have to look at it.
I was going to contribute breaking.
Thank you for having a new album.
But that seems to be secondary to the Queen.
Breaking Benjamin had a new album come out on Friday.
I know you are a fan.
Yes, I am.
And you know that one of our prize pieces is a guitar.
Pieces, not pizzas.
It sounded like pizza.
One of my prize pizzas.
I do enjoy it a lot inside.
Just that time.
Yeah, I am a little hungry.
But is the signed guitar?
I've seen it.
It's pretty nice.
It's in a case.
I can't figure out how to get it to stay on the wall.
So we've got just some quick NHL updates for you.
Right now, before the end of the first period, Minnesota up to one.
They are trailing 2-0 in that series with Winnipeg.
Let's see.
Columbus on the power play right now.
But they're down 1-0 to the capitals.
But they do lead that series 1-0 tonight.
Golden Knights up 2-0, baby.
As they are playing with Angalis.
Did you see the scores on those two games?
No, I did not.
First one was 1-0, second one, 3-2, and over time.
And Pittsburgh up 5-1 in that final.
They're up to one in that series on Philadelphia.
So Don, we'll be happy with that.
All right.
It's time to do one quick in memoriam.
And a huge one.
Alex broke it.
And then Russ broke it.
Arley Ermi has passed away.
This is a guy.
A friend of the show, Brad Zabel, also texting me with this.
If you, in any way, shape or form, have watched anything military related in the last 30 years, this guy was involved.
For the last three or four years now, I've lost track.
I think it's a three or four that we've done that I've done the Armed Forces Bowl.
He is a huge proponent in that game because he's from Texas.
He actually does the introductions of the teams and things like that.
You would know him as Gunnery Sargent Hartman in Full Metal Jacket.
He was Gunnery Sargent Ermi.
Yes, he was.
74 years old.
This is a guy that, if you don't know the name,
I will bet my mortgage you, if I showed you a picture of him.
Oh, that guy.
I do have a question from people who would know better than I would.
The rumor I heard on the background is they had video of him while they were making Full Metal Jacket for how a Gunnery Sargent should be acting to new recruits.
And they couldn't find an actor to play it so they offered it to him and he said, sure.
I think that wouldn't surprise me.
What I had heard was he had been called in on an advisory role because he had acted before.
He was in a film called The Boys of Company C.
And it played the exact same type of character.
I mean, it's like you're just playing himself.
And they saw that him as an advisor was actually doing a better job than the guy they had hired to play the part.
So they said, we're going to go with him.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
If you don't know him from that, if you remember the Geico commercial.
Yeah.
They've been kind of firing also and there's a little bit lately.
He made...
Whoa.
That was weird.
That didn't get weird.
Something just, ooh.
Oh gosh.
Interesting.
My mic just went away.
That's okay.
Sorry about that.
He made Jack Wagon part of the American Lexicon in that commercial.
This tells me for a loop.
Like when I saw that, I almost couldn't talk.
I was like, oh no, not this guy.
He was one of those that we've said for a long time.
And when it's his time, it's going to be a tough deal.
Yeah.
And I think the suddenness of it is what's kind of just gotten me.
Just like I'm not freaking out about it.
It's going to settle in eventually.
Yeah.
I thought the one that broke yesterday was big.
And to me, this one.
Go ahead, sir.
Milo Shformin.
Did not know that.
Yes, sir.
Yes, he did.
Wow.
Please, please, fill everybody in.
Director of One Flu over the Kuku's Nest in Amadeus.
Didn't he do people versus Larry Flan?
Oh, you may be right there.
But I know that he won Best Picture Oscars for those previous two.
I thought he did.
Let me look that up.
If I see those, I learned to type here.
I saw that.
And I actually posted that on the Obit Club on Facebook.
And I was like, I was completely floored.
I saw it about like seven o'clock yesterday morning.
Oh, yeah.
I got to learn how to spell.
He did.
Okay.
So he did do the people versus Larry Flan.
I couldn't be.
I wasn't 100% sure.
I thought he had.
Yep, there it is.
He also directed the 1979 film version of Hair.
Oh, gosh.
Yeah.
The last thing you would have remembered him for was 1999's May on the Moon.
Fantastic.
This is true.
Yeah.
He did ragtime.
Forgot he did that.
Had a hell of a body of work.
I mean, an epic stuff that he was responsible for.
To God rest his soul and God rest his soul and to the family and friends of Arley Army.
Man, that's two big ones.
All right.
Let us combine our loves for pop culture and entertainment and talk a little bit of pro wrestling.
We are the kingdoms.
The greatest group in Ring of Honor history.
And you, my friends, you are checking out the Clubhouse podcast.
Fight the conspiracy and be one of us.
Yeah, Melvin's.
I love it.
Don't do that.
Yeah.
We will never not play that ever.
And hopefully we're going to get some more later this year.
Well, David is going to be on the shoot.
Look at the shoot.
I know, but it's a audio medium.
You have homework.
You have homework.
So I teased early earlier that I read a headline today that's very upsetting to me.
As you guys know, there are very few things when it comes to video mediums that I am a completist about.
One of them is I have almost every WrestleMania since 20 on DVD slash Blu-ray.
I'm too behind right now.
I need Texas and I need Orlando.
It's another one that got there.
Art Bell.
Wow.
Good mercy.
Oh.
But something's going to be missing from this year's WrestleMania.
It might not be Blu-ray because we talked recently about the companies getting away from Blu-ray because sales are bad.
The Hall of Fame is not going to be on there.
Really?
They're going to put the pre-show and the RAW after WrestleMania on it because did you know that the Hall of Fame was four and a half hours long this year?
They said that by the time Goldberg took the stage, 80% of the crowd was gone.
There were superstars that were gone at that point.
Yeah, they did.
McAfee talked about him and this kid Robbie that works for Barstool.
They were doing the red carpet.
And he said he talked to Michael Cole and Michael Cole said, you can go ahead and go.
You don't have to stay if you don't want to.
And he goes, I didn't know what to do because it's Michael Cole and it's the Hall of Fame.
So I talked to a couple of superstars and they're like, look, if Michael Cole told you to go, go.
People were joking that when the pre-show started for WrestleMania, that the Hall of Fame had just gotten out.
Wow.
I think I did hear that one.
And I don't want to say, I know not everybody listens to the Pat McAfee show but go back and listen to last Tuesday's episode because he talks about his entire WrestleMania experience.
Because if you remember, he was part of the pre-show for NXT Takeover.
Fantastically.
Great.
Get a great job.
Oh yeah.
Might have had some vitamins before him.
But he tells and he says, I had four hours of sleep this entire weekend.
He actually, he was actually at access before they opened it up and he was hanging out with McCulley Culkin, who he constantly called Kevin McCallister.
But his story of his WrestleMania experience, I'm going to say this and not just because McAfee's one of my leaders, but the way McAfee spoke of this man, I have gained respect for Michael Cole.
Really?
He says, everything you know about Michael Cole is a bit.
Wow.
He said, Michael Cole off camera is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
That's good to know.
He said, every, he was to hear him talk about his experience during Takeover.
Because you know you're seeing a lot of this footage now of all the superstars backstage watching on that monitor in that room that's got all the walls that look like it's set up.
He was in that room during Takeover with Steph, with H, with Vince, with Shane.
He goes every time somebody would come in, I'd stand up like, there's no way I can stay in the seat and they're like, no sit down, you're in the seat.
He said that he did a bit on the pre show with Adam Cole, who he referred to as Mr. Cole, baby.
We thought it was great.
But McAfee really does, he talks about going to dinner at the hotel on Friday night.
And he's there like sting sitting behind him.
He said Randy Orton was basically holding court going up to every table talking to people.
That Randy Orton was amazing.
And he has kind of a man crush on Orton.
But, and I told Alex this, he and I were texting as I was listening.
It is probably the best report of somebody.
Seeing WrestleMania weekend through the eyes of a smart that I think I've ever heard.
Is he jockeying for a career with them after he has for years?
He retired.
He's not in the NFL anymore.
Oh, he's not?
No, I didn't know that.
He retired last year.
Okay, you haven't seen any of the videos.
He's been talking about this since basically the day he retired that his dream job has been a wrestler.
And he's training with repairagers in a ring that he built.
No, he bought.
And he has it in his barred of bad decisions.
Oh, yeah, okay.
Yeah, you did tell me that.
Yeah, okay.
And so he tells the whole story because when it came out that he was signed to do NXT take it.
I was like, here we go.
Because he was actually at a show that NXT did in Indy.
And he was actually involved in the show where it was Alistair Black versus Adam Cole.
And he actually did the Lesnar jump from the floor to the apron cleanly clean.
It was clean. I've seen the video.
Wow.
And he grabbed a chair out of Adam Cole's hand which distracted Adam Cole and Alistair Black won the match.
But they told him that he was on a strict no contact policy for that day.
That led to him getting the gig on NXT pre show.
And he talks that whole process like how he completely fumbled the rehearsal, but he's never good in rehearsal.
He's only good on like off the cuff live.
But that whole story of his experience at WrestleMania weekend is amazing.
And you should check it out.
As long as he's not another mangomic Michael when he actually gets his shot.
No, no, no.
He's going through the deal.
No, yeah.
Okay.
I mean, and it was really good.
Speaking of the Hall of Fame rumors next year, Bigelow is going in.
Late.
Well, they're going to be in New Jersey.
Still my point.
That's why he didn't go in this year.
You know, bam, bam, it's my boy.
He spells it wrong, but that's okay.
To you.
Forums not to.
Let's see.
Ray Mysteria will be in the greatest Royal Rumble.
Oh, boy.
So there will be some injuries in that greatest Royal Rumble.
Oh, you also don't know the big story about the greatest Royal Rumble.
Unless we talked about it the other night.
I don't think we did.
I think we did.
Seth Rollins apparently started a beach ball party after Roll on a fear Monday.
That's a dude making social media work for him.
Biggest rumor of the week is that once Bray Wyatt turns on Matt Hardy,
which is supposed to happen fairly quickly,
that they're going to bring up sanity and he's going to lead sanity from NXT,
which I'm completely on board with because I love Eric Young.
The issue of UI is impact.
Yes.
So let's talk some notes from Raw.
Just first and foremost, I know we say it every year,
but we're going to say it again.
You have got to love that post-Russellmania crowd.
That Raw after WrestleMania crowd is nothing shy of just amazing.
And I've been part of that crowd two years ago when Charlotte and I were there for Raw after WrestleMania.
There is nothing, there's no live experience like that night.
There just isn't.
I would put going to that show up against any live event of any form.
Well, who wasn't a couple of years ago,
was talking about WrestleMania for the people that pay to be there,
the Raw after WrestleMania is for the fans?
It really is.
I mean, it's a show for the fans because you get all the surprise,
you know, people that are coming up,
although one person did not get brought up to the main roster and it broke a tradition.
Andrade CN Almas did not come up after losing the NXT title at takeover.
There has been some talk that he might be on SmackDown though.
But he wasn't on SmackDown this week.
I wonder what the check was that Vince had to cut to the FCC
because they weren't even trying to mute those chants and they were not being kind to Steph.
No, really?
There were a few Steph chants.
Yeah, there were lots of S's in chants.
When she, when Ronda Rousey did her bit,
and like of the bolver.
Quote, re-broke Steph's arm.
They were chanting you deserve it.
The crowd was all over her like a bad suit.
I was kind of shocked that Nia didn't have her coins on the belt on RAW.
I think they're trying to come up with something good for those though.
But the takeover streak did continue because your loser of the women's match.
Now on the main roster, as Ember Moon showed up Monday night, local Dallas girl.
And got a showcase.
Yes, she did.
She got the finish.
Oh, no, no.
She's also a friend of the chef I met last night.
I mean, and if she see anyone, I don't know.
I believe she is.
I don't know, but I can ask her now.
But it was a great, it was, she did a great job.
Yeah.
We're so excited.
You know, Don, don those guys.
She used to go see her at MPX when she was Athena.
Mm-hmm.
Just.
And they're calling her the war goddess.
Yeah.
It's like, I see what you did there, but shame on you.
But yeah, I'm excited to see that.
And is no way Jose the new Adam Rose.
Because I don't like this bit.
You're the only person I've heard say that.
I don't like this bit.
At all.
I don't like no way Jose.
That's the end of the statement.
I think he's good.
They need to change the bit.
It doesn't.
Bits like that.
We saw from Adam Rose.
It doesn't translate.
In a smaller arena.
Yes.
It did not know the stat that.
You okay there, sir?
That's my back's from bothering me.
Oh, grab yourself a different chair.
Yeah.
Didn't know that I talked to you about.
I did text you about the stat that Seth Rollins threw out there.
Yes.
Yes.
With Seth Rollins winning the IC title on Sunday.
Every member of the shield is now a grand slam champion.
Correct.
Which I think is awesome.
I was really thinking that we see.
Why do you think I was picking Seth Rollins?
The only person picking Seth Rollins.
True.
And great speech by Paige.
Her retirement speech on Monday nights.
Her one day retirement essentially.
Well, from in-ring action, though.
Fair.
And then Channing, thank you, Paige, was great.
Lashley's back.
Was not expecting that.
Well, he was because he's Lesnar's next program.
Assuming he has a next program or he drops.
Get ready for that.
So Lesnar Lashley, after Grace Royal Rumble,
because it's going to be him and Reigns in a cage.
But here's the other part.
Did you see the details that have leaked on Lesnar's new deal?
I thought he can go to UFC and fight and still be under control.
No, no, he can negotiate.
It's for two more dates.
Not two more dates for the next year.
Two more dates.
Ends August 25th.
Oh, really?
So we're still through.
It's the week before Summerslam, allegedly.
HSO, the night goes to Kurt Angle.
As Owens and Zane walk into his office,
he says, my tag team divisions full,
but I hear TNAs hiring.
Oh, man.
Oh, no, no, except for the best reply,
I can't remember who it was from impact replying to.
It was probably Austin Aries.
I think it was Aries saying they've been trying to get the WWE
to acknowledge them for 10 years.
We won.
I think I would have rather have had AOP on SmackDown,
but it does leave room for War Machine,
whatever, the Raiders, the War Raiders.
Yeah.
It's War Machine for God's sake.
Maybe they didn't want to pay Marvel.
Maybe so.
They're still paying them for Hollywood.
That is a valid point.
But I also, let's talk about the crowd for just a second.
I find it really creepy when people wear the same clothes
to Raw that they wore to WrestleMania,
but it was New Orleans.
But there's the one that I called out on that was,
there's the one guy that has the same green shirt
in that center first row,
and has like 50 of those shirts at every show
he's wearing the same shirt.
But I was looking at the guy that had the Cookie Monster shirt.
That's how the Cookie Monster shirt.
And that's right.
Rust did remind us that the kid that Braun chose
for his tag team partner was the son of one of the referees.
Yeah.
That would be the referee John John Stone.
But you know, that's, that's a little safer
because no, don't have a backup plan.
And you guys know, I'm, I'm not the president
of Jonathan coachman's fan club,
but I'm okay with coach.
He walked a line Monday night for me.
Oh, so still needs to go away.
As Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were having their match
in the winter, we got a raw contract,
but it was a double count out
so that either one of them got a contract.
Right.
They're featuring something on the apron
because for Make a Wish,
because Make a Wish world day is coming up.
Uh-huh.
Coach says, and I quote.
You know, you guys see that Make a Wish contract?
Sami and Kevin are making a wish to get a contract.
Come on now.
That's Make a Wish logo.
I'm sorry, yeah.
I texted right.
For the first time ever,
Owens was actually behind me
from where I was watching it,
because I was watching live.
And I was like, oh dear.
And I'm glad nobody called it out,
but it was so uncomfortable.
I'm currently doing it right now.
But he gave me, no, he gave me the heads up to look for it.
And I'm sitting there thinking
and I was like, was that it?
No, he couldn't have just said that.
I had to miss here.
And I didn't put it back.
And I followed up with Robin.
He goes, nope, you heard that correctly.
And I was thinking,
that's worse than anything I could have said at any point.
Yeah, it was very, very uncomfortable.
For me.
Let's go on to some other news to Neil Dashwood,
apparently working on a long-term deal with Ring of Honor.
Mm-hmm.
So you might get some more Emma in your life.
Well, allegedly the only reason that she did not win that tournament
was because they didn't have the deal done.
Who did end up putting that?
Sumi Sukai.
Oh really?
Mazeltov?
I'm looking up something real quick.
That wound up the ROH Supercard of Honor pre-show thing
or was it the semis or pre-show?
Gala, spectacular, battle royale.
Got a texture of rust during the early part of the show
that apparently ROH may be moving to WGN America.
Also not on direct TV.
But they're adding new channels all the time.
Right.
So it may just be a matter of them just getting the deal done.
Matter of time.
Because the Sinclair broadcasting is trying to sell them off.
Oh really?
Mm-hmm.
Sinclair is their whole bit getting weird.
And if you watched last week tonight with John Oliver,
you know what I'm talking about.
Oh yeah.
That's who owns ROH.
Oh wow.
That's not the first time he's talked about that.
Yeah.
It's the second time actually.
Oh, how funny would it be if somehow they swooped in
and got the Fox deal?
No, no.
I don't think that's funny at all.
So in the weirdest story of the week.
I'm talking about ROH.
In the weirdest wrestling story of the week.
It's announced on Monday that at the greatest royal rumble
that it will be Rusev versus Taker in a casket match.
Okay.
Normal enough.
I'm big on Rusev Day.
Every day is Rusev Day.
Friday.
Was that Thursday or Friday that I texted you?
I actually texted you when I first saw it.
No, I texted you first and you said verification.
And I sent you a picture from Facebook.
Oh no, no.
That was the Jericho chain.
Well, that's where I was going.
Well, this is why you need to help.
So Thursday or Friday, I open Facebook and the very first post I've seen
is that Y2J has replaced Rusev in the casket match.
And you're like, I'm sorry.
So I'm texting Alex.
Alex is doing research.
I'm doing research trying to figure this all out.
And what we find out is once they announced Rusev,
Rusev put up a tweet that said,
bury me softly, brother,
which to me was innocuous,
but somebody didn't think so.
Creative didn't think so.
Yeah.
Now, allegedly.
Since that happened,
that tweet is still there as of yesterday.
His Twitter, like his name,
not his Twitter handle,
but his name on Twitter,
is just a period.
No reference to...
And he removed all references to WWE,
unless he was talking to Lana
because her handles WWE Lana
have been removed.
She puts up a tweet.
I guess doing damage control
to say, oh no,
I'm the one that asked for him to be taken out of the match
because I don't want him getting hurt.
I guess staying in character.
Now, add to that,
the two of them going on TMZ
going in and out of K-Fabe
talking about the match
and how Undertaker's old
and all of these other things.
To be fair,
I did watch the video.
They were not...
It wasn't, I see.
It was his board.
Right.
But they were definitely going in and out of K-Fabe.
And there was a back and forth
with Michelle McCool as well.
Yes.
They were going in and out of character
because she had her accent,
that she didn't have her accent,
that she did, that she didn't.
There are rumors swirling
and today did not help that
because he replied to a tweet
by Aiden English basically saying,
man, thanks for a good run.
Gonna miss ya.
I believe the exact quote was
gonna miss you most, bro,
on his Instagram.
Oh, wow.
But the company is saying
that he is still part of the company
and going to be part of the rumble match.
Which, by the way,
it's going to take place
April the 27th at New New Eastern.
I thought it was New Central.
No, it's 11 a.m. here.
Yeah.
So, gonna have to wake up on the day.
I'll be watching that later
in the day and try to avoid spoilers.
Okay, thanks for telling me now
because I do plan on watching it.
Understood.
So, a couple of SmackDown notes,
Page Retires Monday night, Tuesday night,
she's the GM of SmackDown,
which I think is a brilliant move.
It's brilliant.
I'm glad they're keeping her around.
Oh, yeah.
Now, she may have held on
to that announcement of Daniel Bryan's opponent
a bit too long,
but she had better read it in the palm of her hand.
Now, let's talk about that.
Here's the other layer of the Rusev thing.
Because when she said Daniel Bryan's first opponent
on SmackDown would be,
people were chanting Rusev Day.
Rusev Day.
If you go back and watch it now,
they have overlapped that
with an AJ Styles chant,
followed by another AJ Styles chant,
followed by her announcing it.
Yeah, that's...
Yeah, that's...
That was the one that had me texting
furiously thinking,
no, no, we need Rusev Day.
And I did have to text Doc
on Tuesday or Wednesday
when I was watching SmackDown.
Because in the tag match,
Graves did say the words
canismasmacho.
And I said,
give it to Frinchment!
That's give it to Frinchment!
And I texted Doc,
and he's like,
what?
For those of you who don't know,
Doc and his family
have a lake house in Memphis
where they go every year
for the barbecue festival.
And they invented a game
called canismasmacho.
And the way it works
is you lay down...
This is supposed to...
And they have one of those
pneumatic launchers
and they place a water balloon in it.
And it launches in the air,
everybody has to lay on the ground
and the last person to move
wins.
But then they released
a newer version of it.
Oh, no.
Called canismasmacho
ala noce.
Because at the lake house,
there's no exterior lighting.
So at night...
This is why John Howser
is my boy.
They need to add a glow stick
into that balloon
when they add the glow.
Oh, no.
How much do you know it?
No way.
No way.
No, no.
They're glowing orb coming at you.
So, yeah.
But somebody theoretically
going to get hit.
Why do you want to add
injury to this?
And the thing of NXT
does continue.
I do like the iconics,
but I do hope
it ushers in a women's
tag team division.
Absolutely.
And then there's
the cash in.
No points for anybody
for a while.
Because the cash
didn't happen.
And I'm so glad I didn't
get, because he actually
ruined that for me,
but I didn't realize it.
What's that?
He and I were just
texting back and forth to
as he goes.
I thought he was watching
live, too.
Two minutes, two days,
too late.
And I'm like, what the hell
you're talking about?
Didn't realize he was
talking about Carmella
caching in until I
washed back down.
I was like, oh, that's what
he was referring to.
Okay.
Didn't get a spoil,
because I didn't think I
didn't always talk about it.
So, I didn't know he was
behind at this point.
Alex's spoilers are
spoiler-free.
Especially if we had
never read one of my
reviews.
Let's talk about, let's
have some movie talk,
shall we?
As we move on.
Guys, we're already
an hour 20 in.
This show is flying
by tonight.
Well, that's because we
don't have Don here.
Wow.
I'm not wrong.
No, Don doesn't
weigh down the show.
I'm not saying weigh
down, but we're taking
Don dance break or
singing.
Well, there's also only
four of us tonight.
For the last few
shows in this room, we
had like 19 people
all over.
Okay.
So box office numbers
from our friends at
box office mojo.com
dropping out of the top
10 this week.
Sherlock Nomes drops
from 8 to 12.
$37 million on a $59 million
budget.
Pacific Rim
Uprising drops from 9 to
14.
$57.5 million.
$150 million.
That was a huge budget.
Yikes.
Dropping from 7 to 10
this week, chap
a quiddick.
I do want to see this.
This looks really, really
good.
A little sister saw it
yesterday if I'm not
missing.
I thought that was today.
Was it today she
posted that?
I thought it was today.
It was one of them.
$3 million, $2
a $11 million.
I don't have a lot of
budgets this week on here.
Tyler Perry's
Acrimony drops from
5 to 9.
I didn't even
know that had been
released.
You have it?
Fantasy movie
League has their current
estimates.
You can do that.
But I just need
budgets.
I've got the numbers.
I've got the
budgets.
Acrimony, $3.7 million, $3
weeks, $38 million.
I can only imagine
still in the top 10
after 5 weeks.
It drops from 6 to 8.
$3.9 million.
$5 weeks, $75 million.
This was a $7 million
budget film.
Shout out to Bart Miller
and the boys
for mercy me on that.
I love dogs, jumps
from 10 to 7 this week.
I enjoyed this film
very much.
That made $5 million
4 weeks, $18.5 million.
I don't have a budget
on that either.
Black Panther still
in the top 10 drops
from 4 to 6.
Another $5.3 million.
9 weeks, $673.8 million.
Wow.
Did you see the news
on that one, though?
Which one?
On Black Panther.
The in-home is coming
much better.
It's coming next month.
May 5th.
It's coming next month.
May 5th.
It's coming next month.
It's coming next month.
May 5th.
It's coming next month.
It's coming next month.
May 5th.
It's coming next month.
May 5th.
Wow.
Yep.
May 4th.
May 5th is a Saturday.
They announced it is May 5th.
That seems weird.
Because that's a Saturday.
It's a Saturday.
For the digital release.
Maybe for the digital.
The physical would have
been the earliest.
The physical would be
we have to be the eighth
because it's Tuesdays.
So they're going to drop
at the beginning.
Well, technically they can do
what they want.
They're going to drop at the
original, rather than the
original time of the
original release date
for a 50-war.
Let's see.
Blockers drops
from the bronze medal.
The fifth place.
Or is we like to call
that?
Do we not do an
audio on that one?
No.
No, you're out of town.
Okay.
Let's see.
$10.3 million.
Two weeks.
$37 million.
A $21 million budget.
I like that.
So it's still not
making money yet because
the rule of 50.
But you're not the only one.
That has been very,
very well received.
I like it.
I like it.
I like it.
I like it a lot.
Truth or dare.
I'm sorry.
Bloom House is truth or dare.
Will not be seeing this bill.
They abuse in the
bronze medal position.
$19.1 million.
Budget.
Three of a half.
I don't know of
anybody of note in this film.
I don't know if it is.
There's no big names.
The kid that plays
Erica's boyfriend on
Jeff Schwartz on Goldbergs,
isn't it?
I did see him.
Like I said,
nobody.
No marking.
A quiet place drops
from Gold to Silver this week.
$32.6 million.
Two weeks.
$99.6 million.
On a $17 million budget.
So that can only
be one thing.
Congratulations to
the Krasinski.
Does it leave itself open
for another one?
I don't know.
I didn't see it.
That was only done.
That's right.
Don always on.
And debuting in the number
one spot,
but not strong.
Rampage.
$34.5 million.
$120 million.
Budget.
I got a kick out of that.
Alex saw today.
This morning.
Yeah.
It's better than it has
any business being.
Exactly.
Not a great movie,
but it's kind of fun.
It's really fun.
Yeah.
So it's just a few headlines
for movies this week.
Donnie Yen has joined
the cast of Mulan.
Saw that.
Very excited about that.
This Netflix thing.
They have pulled all
of their films
from the Can Film Festival.
Yes.
Because Can has a rule
that says,
if your film does not
get a theatrical release
in France,
it cannot be held in contention
for the big awards.
And Netflix said,
go Pound Sam,
we're going to pull them all.
Right.
One of them is an unfinished
Orson Wells' last film.
Oh, wow.
And his estate is begging them
to put it back in.
Black Panther,
DVD and Blu-rays,
May 15th.
May 8th is the digital.
Okay.
So I missed the one.
Apparently I've got that
makes more sense.
Yeah.
It chapter two.
We mentioned it earlier.
We talked about Pennywise.
Gonna start filming in Toronto
in July.
And they are getting some people
for that.
James McAvoyan,
Bill Hader, in talks to join
the cast.
I can see that.
Anything with James McAvoyan.
Russo Brothers,
with HSO this week.
What they want to do for
Phase 4 of the MCU.
A little thing called
Secret Wars.
You are kidding.
They said they want to do it.
Now, I didn't really
dig the newer version
of Secret Wars as much.
I want the original Secret Wars.
But it's going to be hard
to do the original
because you're already
doing Venom.
Exactly.
And it's exactly what I was
thinking.
I'm like, that's a damn shame
they're doing Venom now.
Well, aren't they talking
about that Venom is not
going to be part of the MCU?
Tom Holland's in it.
Yeah.
Right.
But what they're saying is
and what I heard was that
they're going to have
the similar people,
but it's not necessarily
part of that.
No, it's, if it's going to,
if Holland's going to be,
it's going to have to be
canon.
So, we've already got
the symbiote suit and play.
Uh, Charlize Theron says
there is an Atomic
Blanc sequel in the works.
Good.
I saw that.
I still haven't seen the
cut.
I love that.
And Gabriel Luna is your
new terminator.
Who, what?
Gabriel Luna.
He's 160 pounds.
It doesn't make sense.
It's not Diego.
Gabriel.
No, no, no, no.
Gabriel Luna is taller.
Looks stronger,
but he's also super thin.
Well, Robert Patrick
and he won.
I mean, he wouldn't
exactly, uh,
that is a fair point.
No, no, he's thinner
than Robert Patrick.
Uh, let's say he,
uh, Robert Patrick
wasn't physically
intimidating.
He just looked creepy.
Well, he still does.
It's true.
That movie still dawn on
masterpiece.
Oh, no argument here.
No arguments here.
Uh, movie new releases in
places.
You see movie new releases
this week.
A movie will be screened
tomorrow night called I
feel pretty with the
Amy Schumer.
This is a girl who is
kind of ridiculed a lot
and she bumps her head
and wakes up and looks
in the mirror.
And what she sees is that
she's basically a
supermodel now.
So it's shallow
howl from the other
perspective.
Pretty much kind of.
Uh, a movie called
traffic that is spelled
T-R-A-F-F-F-I-K.
But isn't that the way
they spelled the thing
over and,
but this is not that.
A couple
off for a romantic weekend
in the mountains
are accosted by a
biker gang,
alone in the mountains,
Bria and John
must defend themselves
against the gang who
will stop at nothing to
protect their secrets.
Paula Pattens in this
Missy Pyle Don,
all a very
William Fitchner,
Luke Goss,
Omar Epps.
Wow.
That's a great cast.
The trailer looks terrible.
Oh, okay.
Just read,
hearing you read it.
It's another movie
that we're going to be
screening on Tuesday night
and I could not be more
excited.
I think I'm going to go
back and watch the first one
in Super Troopers 2.
Oh, God.
I don't, why do you
not want to see this?
Why do you not want to see
Super Troopers?
I never understood why.
This movie is hilarious.
The snazbear is
tasteless.
Snazbear.
And somebody's doing the
snazbear, I think it's,
um, is it Starbucks
that's doing a
snazberry?
Somebody's doing a
snazberry of something.
No, it's hooters.
Hooters is doing a
snazberry drink this week.
You know what the part
of that movie
that blows my mind
every time?
The kid,
the weird kid in Super
Troopers.
That's Mr.
Christina Hendrix.
What?
I'm freaking out,
man.
You need to see Super Troopers
because it's, and you
know, actually I know why he
won't see Super Troopers
because he hated beer fest
so much.
That's why.
That's why.
But you can't judge that
on the merit of it.
No.
I like beer fest.
Super Troopers is just
that it's the original.
It's all of the jokes
that they really came up
with.
That was their first go.
Beer fest was like
the stuff that got left
over from Super Troopers
and was still funny.
And I think I tried to
watch, what was it
when they were
like, salmon, salmon, salmon.
Oh, I tried with
Club Geride.
What did you say?
Club Geride was the
one between those two.
It was the third one.
But it's so, it's so much
fun.
And it comes out on
420.
So you know where we're
going.
But this is where they get,
they end up working a case
with the Royal Canadian
mountain.
I can't wait for this.
A movie called
Ghost Stories,
which I think you might
be interested in
Sir.
And I'm not being
facetious on this.
This is kind of a,
I guess you could call it
an anthology type film.
Like a creep show type film.
Arch Skeptic
Professor Philip Goodman
embarks upon a
tear-filled quest
when he stumbles
across a long-lost
file containing
details of three cases
of inexplicable
hauntings.
So it's kind of like
multiple things crossing
origin.
Martin Freeman's
in this.
Andy Nyman.
Paul Warren.
Nicholas Burns.
Very British.
It sounded great.
Something called Duck
Duck Goose.
This is an animated film.
Um.
A Bachelor Goose
must form a bond
with two lost ducklings
as they journey south.
Jim Gaffigan's
in Daya.
Greg Prooops.
Natasha Leggero.
Dietrich Baker.
Carl Reiner.
Stephen Fry.
Craig Ferguson.
Jennifer Gray.
Patrick Overton.
Whoa.
Ferguson and Fryer
in this.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Then you might have that.
It's a CGI animation
thing.
Okay.
I might have to check that out.
Uh.
A movie called
Codacrome.
That's getting a lot of.
A lot of buzz.
Uh.
It's set during the final days
of the admired photo
development system known as
Codacrome.
A father and son hit the road
in order to teach the Kansas
to reach the Kansas
photo lab before it closes
its doors for good.
Elizabeth Olson's
in this ad Harris.
Could you take us Bruce
Greenwood.
Dennis Hayes Bear, Mr.
President.
Uh.
That'd be all the names
you would recognize.
But I'm interested.
That does sound.
That does something.
It's too Danish.
She got me.
Uh.
Something called Corbin
Nash.
This looks really weird.
I'm trying to get the, uh.
There it is, right there.
Pulling it up in the
M.D.B.
A rogue police detective in
search of his parents killer
is murdered and reborn
the ultimate killer.
Corey Feldman, Malcolm McDowell,
Edgar Howard, Bruce Davison, Richard Wagner.
Wow.
This could be amazingly great or amazingly horrible.
Like there's no bit between us.
And a movie called Beyond the Clouds this week,
I should probably try to type with both hands, shouldn't I?
Instead of just awkwardly stretching myself.
Depends on which way you're comfortable.
Yeah, well it's on my left side, which is, you know,
I'm right-handed.
So, this was actually dated last year,
but it releases big this week.
When on the run from the cops, Amir finds
as a strange sister, Tara, who in a bid to protect her brother
lands up in jail.
Their entire lives have been clouded by despair
as unexpectedly the light shines on them
from Beyond the Clouds.
See what they did there.
I'm sorry, lands up in jail.
That's what it says.
I'm reading it.
No, no, no, I know you read it verbatim,
but it's no credit for syntax.
No.
DVD and Blu-ray, new releases this Tuesday, The Post.
I enjoyed this film very much.
I know you were in a big fan.
I didn't have a problem with it.
I just didn't like the way it ended.
I feel like that that-
But that's not what the story was.
I know, I know, it just bothered me
that it ended where it ended.
I was like, no, no, no, no.
That was what that was going.
But that's what that story was.
I know, I know.
The commuter.
Commuter.
Do you have that reserved, sir?
No.
The worst Leonieson film ever?
No.
Are you sure?
Yeah, I'm sure I don't have a reserved.
No, not that part.
Are you sure it's the worst?
Oh my god, that movie was so bad.
Was it you that would tell me you talked to somebody
recently and they were like,
I just want great movies.
No.
I was talking to somebody recently.
They overheard a conversation
where two of their co-workers were saying,
how great the commuter was.
And it was like, I wanted to stab them.
American Folk, this looks really interesting.
This is kind of an indie darling
that's coming forward now.
Two strangers, both folk musicians,
stranded in California,
take a road trip to New York in the days after 9-11.
A story about the kindness of strangers
and the power of music.
I'm interested in this.
Got potential.
A movie called Humor Me.
I hope you guys have heard about this.
It says I can learn.
There it is, right?
Say, eh, eh, eh, eh.
Do you guys think I'm learned?
Oh, once acclaimed New York playwright named Jate,
played by the great Jamein Clement,
is struggling to finish his new play
when his wife leaves him taking their son.
Desolate, broken, unable to pay their rent.
Nate begrudgingly moves in with his widowed father
played by the great Elliot Gould.
Okay, so there are two for two on that, yes.
I mean, his new Jersey retirement golf community.
So I'm in on the Ingrid Michelson is in this.
Let's see, Joey Slotnik, where's he been?
Big fan of the Slotnik.
BB Newworth is in this.
I'm intrigued.
And in case you didn't,
you had so many unanswered questions
from the first one.
I'm Blu-ray DVD this week.
Deep Blue Sea 2.
Wait, you heard me.
I did not know that was the thing.
And here they were just capitalizing
on the Meg trailer getting released.
I am so, I read that book years ago.
Have you seen the posters though?
A lot.
Yeah, there's one that's parodying the Jaws poster
and the Megs up underneath the shore.
Yeah, yeah.
I just, I'm looking forward to it again.
I'm about to make the same mistake
that you made with Ready Player 1
because I read Meg like a dozen times.
And there's like three or four books in it.
At any point did you go, shout up, Mac.
And notice it is, the book is called Meg,
a novel of deep terror.
Yes.
This thing is called the Meg, the Mike.
That's all right.
No, but have you watched the trailer?
Oh, yeah.
You can smell what the Meg is swimming.
And Criterion Collection 2 foreign films,
The Awful Truth and the Color of Pomegranates this week.
Dude, I just report the news.
Couple of tech talk items this week.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has now made more money
than any movie, book, or game ever.
Can you believe that?
90 million games sold at over $6 billion.
I don't mind it.
And you, sir, will be happy to know
that I have joined the rest of civilization.
I have updated the pinball FX3.
Thank God.
I was wondering, I didn't realize it was a whole new game.
Like I get into my pinball FX2
and I'm like, why can't I buy any new tables?
That's why.
I realized because I had to get pinball FX3
and then take an hour and a half
and import all my tables after the other one.
It was a pain.
It was a real pain.
Can I just say, and we may have to show you this
after the show, the family guy table?
Oh, no.
No, no.
Have you not played the family guy table?
Yeah, you didn't get it on too?
No, I'd stopped by that point.
No, having walked in to seeing you playing
on the Jurassic Park table.
So you did get those?
I got the Jurassic Park.
I got the universal set.
So you got ET.
Back to the future.
ET and Jaws.
And Jaws.
Jaws is very underwhelming.
Well, what's bothering me is that they're not using any
of the licensed music anymore.
Like Star Wars, I guess was the last tables
where they got everything.
But I love the family guy table
because the thing that launches the ball is Joe kicking it.
And the skill shot is you have to hit Peter,
who's sitting at the top of the ramp.
And when I hit him with the ball,
he grabbed his knee and was like,
ah, this is making me so happy right now.
I could give a crowd about the Bob's burgers table
or anything.
Well, there's an archer table in that set.
OK, now you do realize who's downloading this.
So I'm sure.
No, I'm going to cheat.
I'm going to text Sean to do it for me.
But I have very, very much.
Oh, and we've got to announce that Russ's brother
is home from the hospital.
Good, good to know.
Good to know.
He's doing much, much better.
We're very excited for that.
But I'm enjoying it so far.
I'm also enjoying beating your scores.
Kind of makes me happy.
You're better.
I have no qualms in admitting that you are better
at that game than I am.
I'm also kind of enjoying the tournaments that they do,
where you can just like, you don't have to play against people
live, but you're working towards beating other people.
It's kind of like having a ghost racer in an arrow.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm enjoying that very much.
I've got some more tables that I haven't bought yet.
A couple of the new generic tables that are out there.
I did get the women of power, the marvel.
Enjoyed that quite a bit.
What's the like steel and iron you didn't get that one?
I don't think so.
That's a good one.
It's a pretty good one.
I've got every table.
I skipped on any of these.
I got every table.
Oh, I mean, don't look at paid ones every other week.
Yeah, because I make so much money.
I'm just saying that.
I've just been collecting and I've been going.
I'm not here to judge you outwardly.
But I am enjoying it very, very much.
So I'm a huge fan.
I mean, it just constantly feeds our pinball addiction.
And it's, I mean, it's, my problem with pinball FX2
was there was like a half second delay.
There was a little bit of a lag.
This one's dead on.
Yeah, they tweaked it.
They did a really good job on this.
So shout out to the people from pinball FX.
And they kind of spit-shined every table from two
and put a little bit more glossy sheen on it.
And then, of course, they're friends of our friends
from VP cabs.
Yes, so we have to give them love, too.
Absolutely.
All right, are we ready to the list?
We're actually running a little bit ahead,
which is strange for us.
I didn't say the list.
I didn't get home the catch-walking dead anyways.
We end every show with a list.
This one is no exception.
This is a list that I've been holding on to for a long time.
Because I wrote this list after our last in studio show.
Easy, killer.
I have a job where I have to do a lot of meetings.
Some in person, some virtual.
And I was taking notes during a meeting one day.
And I said, you know what, I'm going to do a list
of 10 tips for meeting etiquette.
I'm going to share that with you right now
because that's what I do.
Number 10, check your tech before the meeting starts.
I've been to so many meetings where,
like, oh, this isn't working right.
Why don't you check it before you do it?
Number nine, if you have to log in,
because see, we use Cisco Webex at work.
We got rid of go-to meeting.
We need nothing wrong with that.
But Webex, when you call in, it gives you a meeting ID.
Okay.
That if you type it in, then when you talk,
your name can come up on the screen.
So I know who's talking.
And it's not call in user three.
Try to mean that.
Just wait until you get the user ID and type it in
so I can know, especially because I'm doing a lot
of teaching virtually right now.
Not a lot, but enough to make a difference.
And I kind of have to guess who's talking
and I had a class of 10 this week.
And so I really had to pay attention to the area code
that the number that popped up on the screen,
just log in with your name and your number
and you're good.
Help us me out.
No guess work involved.
Uh, number eight.
If you're at an in-person meeting,
put your either leave your phone to test.
I thought you were going.
Or, because there's sometimes, like,
I carry my phone in my back pocket
and I forget that I have it with me.
The first thing I do when I sit down,
besides take it out of my pocket so I don't sit on it,
is I put my phone face down.
Because, for me, it's because I am Doug from up.
Hi, how you doing, Squirrel?
Yeah.
That thing lights up.
It's going to distract me.
So do yourself and do everybody in the room of favor,
have respect for everybody in the meeting.
Ain't nobody that important?
Put it in airplane mode.
Or, and not necessarily put in airplane mode,
because sometimes, you know, people have to,
if people are going to get, need to get a hold of you
for whatever reason, be transparent.
And say, hey, there is a possible,
oh yeah, you have a smart watch, same thing.
Just say, hey, I may be, I'm expecting a call.
And I apologize because this is kind of an important call
I'm dealing with.
I may have to step outside of my phone rings.
Or just, just like general, put a face down.
Yeah.
Be with me in this moment,
because I am taking time out of my day
to get you what you need.
Yeah.
Don't, because your boo calls us not,
it's not an excuse to get up and interrupt you.
Right, I mean, and I've even had the moments where,
you know, something's going on with a family member,
and you're watching for an update,
and it's perfectly acceptable to say, hey,
got a situation I'm dealing with,
I'm watching for text.
And if it's not that person, you just ignore it.
And if it is, you step away,
and you do what you need to do and come back.
Number seven, if you're in a virtual meeting,
and this is, I know people fight me on this all the time,
and I'm not a huge fan of it,
but I understand the value of it.
Use your camera.
Use your camera.
It helps me know that I'm engaging you
when I'm in a meeting.
Or that you're at least paying attention to what's going on.
Because how do I know you don't have me
on mute in your cooking breakfast?
Yeah.
And then it's like, hey,
can you repeat that?
No, I can't because you were out of the room.
Respect.
And the other thing about that,
I have three screens that I work with at work.
One of them is my laptop.
I'm going to put my WebEx window
on the same screen where my camera is,
so that when I'm facilitating a meeting,
I'm looking straight into my camera.
So you know that I'm talking to you,
and I'm looking right near your soul.
Okay.
I don't need Alfred Hitchcock presents.
You sound insane?
Yeah.
Those of you kids that don't know what I'm talking about,
look it up, I'm sure you can find them on YouTube.
Number six, overbook the time.
I would rather, if I know I'm going to have a meeting,
it's going to take 30 minutes,
I'm going to book it for an hour.
Yeah.
Because if something goes sideways on me,
you guys, I say it all the time.
I would rather have it and not need it,
than need it and not have it.
That's what I want to put on my tombstone, basically.
That's, I say that constantly.
You know, one of the things I teach with my day job,
one of the things I teach is people
how to facilitate one-on-one meetings with their team members.
And I tell them, you book that meeting for 60 minutes.
You better take at least 30.
But, you know, it happens to me every Monday
when I have my one-on-one with my boss.
And she'll tell me, Rob, I'm going to give you, you know,
20 minutes of your day back.
Yeah, every time I've had to try and do some kind of a training,
it's, you're starting at 60 minutes.
It may be we're just going over five things.
I'm starting at 60 minutes.
If it's going to be a full-order deal,
I'm going two hours.
And if I don't need those two hours,
guess what?
Yeah, don't care.
You're going to have your day back.
Yeah.
You know, when people come to my trainings and they're like,
Rob, what time are we going to get out of here?
I tell them, when we finish.
I, we're booked here until five o'clock.
I promise you, we will not go past five o'clock.
Will we go sooner than that?
Don't know.
Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't.
It's possible.
And in that respect, go ahead and ask questions
if you have them.
Don't be silent.
That's rule number one of my trainings.
I don't bite unless provoked.
So ask your questions.
It's important to me that you ask your questions
before you leave this room,
because I'm going to be throwing a lot of information
at you today, and I want to make sure
that you're able to process it.
But I know people little sit there and not ask questions
because they want to get out an hour early,
and then they don't have the information they need
when they do that.
Exactly.
Just ask your question.
I've trained in Colorado.
Easy to work.
Number five, avoid speakerphone if you're in open air.
Oh god.
I was teaching, I have a three-day class that I teach,
so I'm teaching again here in a few weeks.
And we meet in this beautiful,
you should see what the fifth floor looks like now, dude.
You would freak out.
Really?
Yes.
And you can't take pictures.
I think I can, I'll send some to you.
We have a collaboration area.
That hole, basically, everything from the break room
to halfway down the other side, there's no desks anymore.
It's this huge collaboration area that we've built.
It's gorgeous.
It's all walled in, but no, it's completely open.
It's hard for me to explain.
Yeah, yeah, I did.
But part of that collaboration area that we have,
I teach this three-day class in because it's more
of a relaxed atmosphere.
Well, if you see me in there teaching,
which, by the way, I have reserved the area, so it's mine,
don't come in there with one other person
and pop your speakerphone on for a 30-minute meeting
while I'm trying to teach.
Oh, lord.
Even with our white noise machine
that we have built into the ceiling,
I'm still going to hear it.
Go find a conference room or an office
and go sit in there if you're going to do it.
So crude.
Number four, only bring your laptop if it's necessary.
If I'm facilitating and I'm using PowerPoint and yes,
but otherwise, I don't even bring my laptop to meetings.
Now, I use my for my one-on-ones with my boss
because she's virtual.
She's in North Carolina, so I have to,
but that's what I take my notes in one note.
And by the way, one note, if you're not using it,
it's an amazing thing.
But if you don't need it, don't bring it.
I would rather just take some physical notes
and then go back later and put it in
or bring my iPad and type it into a note
and then export it in later.
It's about respect.
Number three, if you're in the same building
as the facilitator, attend in person.
Yeah.
Don't do it, don't do it.
It drives me nuts.
When I'm like, aren't you on the fourth floor,
come up a set of stairs.
We're in a five green.
Come over here, please.
We have a weekly standing.
Three doors down on the phone
from the meetings every day.
No, no, will not walk down to the meeting.
That's not respect.
Number two, I want to teach people
the difference between duplicate and extend.
Clarify it.
Oh my goodness.
I think I just hurt my head rolling my eyes on that one.
When you're running a meeting,
if you're it's a virtual meeting or it's in person meeting,
and you have to use a monitor in a room
or you're working off a projector.
Treat that projector or monitor as a second screen.
Okay.
Always extend.
Because if you don't, and I see this all the time,
that people duplicate, so what's on their monitor
is on the screen, they pull that up
and you see all their emails.
Or other things they have done.
Instant message.
Right.
Like, it makes my heart skip it.
I'm like, oh my god, what am I about to see?
Now, my wallpaper on my laptop is the band.
The superhero post.
If that comes up on a screen, I don't care
where I'm trying to get a PowerPoint up and running.
But I don't need any spreadsheets I'm working on.
My outlook, nothing like that needs to be on that screen.
Right.
So when you're doing,
hook to an external monitor, tell it, extend this display.
Don't duplicate it.
Use it as a second monitor.
That makes sense.
And number one, understand presenter mode in PowerPoint.
I watch people all the time
that basically just pull the deck up on the screen
and you can see all the slides on the side.
Yeah, okay, yeah.
You're not helping.
Yeah.
I mean, I saw people that were doing that
in presentations to executives.
That looks really shoddy.
And I was just like, like, they had somebody
that was, they were doing like a faux newscast
and they were bringing somebody in as a breaking reporter
and they were on the screen the whole time on the WebEx.
It's like, use presenter mode
and then just scoot it over there.
It's part of the duplicating extended thing.
You know, I want people to be successful.
That's my thing.
I've always said to be a trainer,
you have to be a very special kind of crazy.
Because people have to understand
that my success is your success and vice versa.
That's how I measure success
by how well you take what I'm teaching
and going and doing the thing.
Isn't that like the mantra of your original blog?
I know, I'm here to help.
I'm here to help you.
I'm still living on my blog.
I've been updated a year.
But it's still living on my blog.
Exactly.
For that reason.
You know, some of this is funny.
No doubt.
Comedy is what makes the world go wrong.
But sometimes I just want to go dude.
Like, like, you're making this harder than it has to be.
And people say to me, Rob,
this is some of the most obvious stuff in the world.
It still happens.
I mean, I'm not even getting into reply versus reply all.
Oh God.
I have a million dollar idea.
Microsoft call me.
But you click reply all,
you should get a dialogue box that pops up and says,
are you sure you want to send this
to every person on this email?
And even the blind copies that you don't see are listed.
No, you can't show a blind copy.
No, no, but I was saying when you reply all,
it'll go to the box.
Sometimes, yeah, but you won't see who the blind copies are.
But I'm saying you never know.
You used to.
You used to be able to.
That's how I'd always do a reply.
I'll just pull it up on the draft
to see if anybody was playing.
What I'm saying is you never know
who could be happy.
Oh, you're absolutely right.
So use a reply.
Don't use reply.
But we had recently a new person joined the company
and the leader of that department sent an email out to myself
and people because I'm a part of this department de facto.
And the number of people that did reply all is,
hey, welcome to the team.
You're flooding my inbox, dude.
Yeah.
Yeah, and working for a centralized area like I do,
we have that across the country.
It's like, I don't need 347.
Hey, great jobs.
It's like, they got it.
Send it to that person.
Because if you want to, God bless you
for wanting to give recognition because I'm all about that.
But send it to that person.
Or maybe that person and their boss.
But like, we actually had,
we're actually upgrading to Windows 10 this year.
And we had an email that went out asking people
for volunteers to be testers.
That went company wide.
So you can imagine.
Oh, Lord.
And some of the people that were doing this reply all,
literally 90 days ago, took a class that I taught
on Outlook etiquette.
You want to talk about frustrated?
Oh, wow.
I know you know better because I've done told you.
Well, obviously they weren't paying attention.
They didn't keep the notes.
Candy Crush in the background.
I'm just like, dude, seriously.
What do you want to say?
I'll say, I want you to throw that stone.
And this isn't just for business purposes.
Like, you can apply this up to your normal life too.
We were talking about it in pre-show
that we're members of a group
and we're not going to say the name of the group
because that lives on reply all.
Don't care.
Don't care.
Like, some of us have to come through.
I'm like, this doesn't affect my everyday life.
You're clogging my inbox.
Stop it.
You know, it's, and some of the stuff is, it's simple.
If you don't know how to use a software program,
PowerPoint's not as tough as everybody thinks it is.
You know how to learn PowerPoint?
I clicked on stuff until I found what I wanted.
And don't do that during the meeting.
I have seen that.
That was not the time to do it.
But that's also part of, I've literally seen people start with,
oh, I wonder if this does this.
And it's like, no, you're presenting.
That's part of check your tech.
Whenever I, if I'm designing a deck to be used
in a presentation, I will always run the entire deck
at least an hour before the meeting
to make sure my animations are right,
my transitions are right, nothing's out of control,
and the data's all there.
And know your information?
Oh, absolutely.
I did a PowerPoint thing where I put a video into it,
and I wasn't able to check the tech in the room
because it was an interview situation,
and the video didn't pull right.
But I knew that video well enough
that I could turn around and say, okay,
tech's not working right now, but basically,
here's what happens in this video,
and here's what I wanted you to get out of it.
And the person was impressed that I was able to just
free-flow with it.
You want to lose me?
Nothing will lose me faster than if I'm in a meeting.
You've got a PowerPoint deck,
and you are literally reading every word.
Oh, I hate that.
I'm like, you have just described
every corporate meeting I have.
Oh, yeah.
Because I literally say when I teach, look guys,
I'm not going to read everywhere on every screen
because I'll bore you and me.
I'm going to tell you what you need to know.
You have a copy of the deck.
You can read this later.
I'm going to tell you what you need to know.
That's like the same problem I have any time
I go to see a Star Wars film.
You've always got at least a dozen people in the theater
with you that has to say, a long time ago.
Yeah, we can all read.
We know what it says.
That's why I'm not allowed to query us
or layly anymore.
All right.
The man cares point.
Anything else you guys want to add for me
close this thing out?
No, man.
I think that's something.
It's not a list that everyone has thought
to have put together, but it's an important one.
My inspiration for the list is to be saved.
My inspirations for the list tend to come from the strangest
places.
I don't know where that came from in your head,
but I'm glad you brought it up.
I have to title tonight's episode home on as it changed again.
No, I haven't named it yet.
Well, I know you already had a name picked out of the video.
He did have one earlier.
No, no, it's actually tonight's episode.
It's going to take a minute for the wheels to get back on.
No.
A minute.
You're being generous.
Well, you know, well, it's not the literal minutes.
It's the I know that put a while.
Yeah.
Let's take the plus.
He's also assuming the wheels got back on.
I thought we were still on rims.
