Hey, Empire. It's Rob. Before we get started tonight, I wanted to take just a minute to address the happenings of the last week.

When tragedy strikes, it makes all of us feel a myriad of emotions. Fear, hate, frustration, empathy, sympathy, rage. It's all there.

We want to find someone to blame. We want to dig into the past to find what we think or clues to what happens in the present. There are a lot of people saying a lot of things that don't seem to make any sense.

But at the core of it all, these are real happenings that happen to real human beings. These are people that have lost their lives. These are people who have damaged them that cannot be reversed.

These are families and friends who have lost loved ones. We cannot pretend to understand a mind that brings pain and suffering to an event that can be seen as a tribute to the human spirit. We cannot try to comprehend what happens in a small town to a factory that takes away homes and people.

We cannot assume the background of a person that opens fire on a college campus. And to use the suffering of others to further your own personal agenda or conspiracy theory that may or may not be thoroughly researched and vetted for facts is neither appropriate nor helping promote a resolution of peace. We cannot focus on the darkness because that is what the darkness wants.

We have to focus on the light that shines at the end of the tunnel. And as human beings, we must believe in the triumph of humankindness and know for a fact that no matter what comes our way that good always wins in the end. Evil cannot consume us and turn us into that which it is.

No matter what your higher power is, lift up the victims, their families, the first responders and all involved to them and never give up on the power of good. Boston, West, you are in our thoughts, in our minds, in our hearts, and in our prayers. The following is a sooner or later production.

When we were talking about the ABC mini series version of the Shining. I said that Tim Daily was in it. It was actually his wings co-stars, Steven Weber.

Wasn't it? So I was kind of a round about Kevin Bacon kind of a thing. But it worked.

And I wouldn't call it. Had you not looked it up. Had I watched SNL on a timely manner, which I finally did today.

These that Galifonakis episode is going to be made the fourth. Not made the 25th as I read on EW dot com. I took somebody else's word for it.

And it bit you. Well, normally EW entertainment weekly's website is a reliable source. Just not this time.

You could just watch SNL with it when they announced it. It did say May 4th on the little bump. Well, they did, but I didn't get around to watching until today because I had 20,000 other things I had to get to.

Well, I'll get caught up on it. But right now I'm on last week's survivor. So then I have one episode of community two episodes of Vegas.

And the first two episodes of Da Vinci's Demons. And then I'm caught up on all my normal show. I got caught up on Da Vinci myself.

Let's get to the NASCAR. Is it weird that every time I play this, I just get nervous that I'm one day closer to Metallica Sowing me. They don't like it when the user stuff about that.

I mean, a large thing about it. I just say I told them one night. And they were really drunk.

They don't remember. Okay. Kind of like how Tarantino got Brad Pitt to agree to be in glorious.

Just has a new state. I don't know what that's right. I don't know that's right.

He got him drunk on wine. I got him to sign the contract for next but not that. Yeah.

Wow. Called the next day. So when are you going to show up to start shooting in Brad Pitt's like, shooting what?

So after last week's Texas race, Joey Lagano and Shads, Faber driver. Brad, cause Laoskey. It's canceled.

I don't care. You say to me, do I say to me? I don't think I'm having to worry about that.

Both Docs 25 points for unapproved parts on their cars for Texas weekend. They also got to find 10 grand a piece. There's something on them.

Something on the back of the car wasn't up to spec. And they had to get replaced with the last. So very last minute.

Crew Chiefs Paul Wolf and Todd Gordon will be suspended for the next six championship points races. And they'll be on probation for the rest of the season. And team manager for both of them, Travis Geysler and their individual car chiefs and team engineers are also on probation for the rest of the season.

Other drivers hit with penalties that not as severe are Martin Shoex Jr and Ron Hornedate Jr. I mean, don't they know that people actually look at the cars when all that kind of stuff? Or they just try to get away with it?

Brother, you ain't cheating you ain't winning. That's true. Right.

You know, just get the guy in front of a little push. You know, it's going to call it a little love tab. Just we don't love tab.

I think they should do it like death race 2000. I would frighten Stein. Yeah.

This is this weather from the Kansas Speedway. I've actually stayed at a hotel about two blocks from that speedway. There's a hole.

They've got like a whole shopping retail entertainment complex right around the speedway. Of course. They've got like just like a minorly ball park right next door.

It's a nice lineman. I was probably having done more stuff like that mapping out. They got like a little outdoor mall kind of like our fire wheel.

Right next to it would make sense. It's got nice nylon with strong air flow. So really it's the man.

It's an oil area right around that speedway is. that speedway is huge. When you go out there for the week and the race is sort of an afterthought because you haven't so much fun before the race.

It's greatness. There's a hooters right there. There's a couple of barbecue joints.

With Kansas City BBQ. Is there a pluckers right there? That's not that I'm aware of.

We met that's a list we haven't done yet is ranking barbecue. Oh, fighting words. Oh, there we go.

We have a Viacone deos and a huge Viacone deos in the world of television and sports kind of covering both of the Uranus of this show with local with local impact no less. Yeah last Tuesday at the age of 83 or who would have been 83 this year. George Allen Pat Summerall passed away.

I mean, you could spend a whole show just talking about this guy. Easily. He said now more Super Bowls than anybody in history.

He's on 16 of them. That's amazing. 26 masters tournaments and 21 U.S.

Opens. God. He also contributed to 10 Super Bowls on radio as a free game host or analyst.

He played for the Arkansas Razor back from 1952 to 1961. And then, oh, the Arkansas Razor back from the NFL. Oh, and in the NFL, there are some rates of college.

Look at P.D. diseases. He probably didn't.

My mom. She was an Arkansas that that particular one. Yeah, she's around that time.

Yeah. He retired in 2002, but you know, he did a lot of stuff locally here in the Dallas world and in the state of Texas. But my, the interesting stats to me about him.

He was not only did he kick field goal, but he also played defense too. If I remember correctly. And one thing you absolutely cannot exclude is the fact that he was the other voice in the book.

I'm sorry. He played on all three. What?

Defensive and tight end and place kick. Good night. But man.

But for years when you played John Madden football, he was the other voice you heard. Thank you, John. Oh, just putting up with Madden.

He was a fourth round draft pick for the Detroit Lions in 1952. Played the preseason with the Lions before breaking this arm. And then after that he went on to play the Chicago Cardinals from 53 to 57 the Giants.

And he, of course, he was part of the grace game ever playing. So we say to you sir, Viacom Deos. Generations are going to be denied greatness without you being here.

Fans of the show Revolution. Well played. Their season finale has officially been moved back to June.

They've had to bump everything back a week because they delayed this past week because of coverage of what happened in Boston. So everything's still on schedule. They just bumped everything back a week.

Right. So if you're, I think, I don't know if my wife's still watching that show or not. I'm just wasn't one point.

I've got two more episodes to watch. It's it's a fairly entertaining. Although I'm still wearing it.

They get, you know, form, fitting leather pants, you know, for everybody, but in that, you know, it is the after the apocalypse. I'm wearing it right now. Well, yeah, the apocalypse I'm hit yet though.

Things that make me feel well, you know, no one takes a shower. So I'm back there. So I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of things of the zombie apocalypse.

Amazon has put some of their zombie land. Yeah, they've done a TV series for zombie land. A couple of people I know have watched it getting kind of mixed reviews.

Yeah, watch it yesterday morning. What do you think, sir? I mean, I mean, the first mission is did we need this?

Well, apparently somebody thought we did because I know I got pitched around Hollywood for a while before somebody committed to actually throwing some money at it. But you and I kind of briefly talked about it yesterday if I remember correctly. There were a myriad of conversations.

Well, the primarily the guy that was, because this is literally the same character is just different people playing them. But I hear zombies are in nowadays. You know, oh, duh.

Well, you just go walking, dude. I mean, zombies are very zombies are the new vampires. Um, I don't even know if they're the new vampires because they've kind of been around for a while.

They just, they're really, really popular mainly because of the walking dead. But the, the guy they got playing Woody Harrelson's character, Tallahassee just doesn't work for me. He's just, I mean, and they, they show his like his first encounter with a zombie is he's actually working for a catering company that delivers lunches to corporate, you know, you know, corporate business lunches and stuff.

He's like, you're, you're tuna salad and you know, and then this zombie comes crashing through and he picks up the lunch cart and crushes the zombies. Let's go. And speaking things of, of the ilk of the medium that we're talking about, I, I know you missed last week's show.

Doc, we're, we're trying to get a, uh, a rest of development marathon together before the new season starts. I'm in in four weeks. I'm so in.

After nine years doing the theme for Sunday, nine football, Faith Hill said she is not coming back this fall. No way. And I'm so relieved.

Why, she's not down on Faith Hill. It's not that I'm down on Faith Hill. It's not that I'm down on any particular artist to not a fan of the ladies.

I am not a fan of the rock and roll intro to football. Just play the stinking game. So you weren't a fan of the, uh, never, never was.

And it's nothing personal against any of the, nothing personal against pink for doing it, that the personal against both of us for doing it. It's just not necessary. You know, you know, they're going to hire somebody.

First few seasons were great. Then all of a sudden it would crappy and then I never returned to it. Fans of George Lopez rejoice.

He is returning to the sitcom arena with a show on FX. So you know, that's going to be family-oriented. It's going to be called St.

George and it's going to be about, this is the quote, the chaotic life of a recently divorced working class Mexican American attorney successful entrepreneur. And this is not on side by CHORNIC or TBS. Welcome to the show, Dad.

There he is. Welcome to the big show. Genius of that.

It's at least so untripable. That was good. I was a fan of the original series.

I like the George Lopez. I just, I kind of like him. All my friends.

Well, my whole thing with George Lopez is do comedy that's not racial. Exactly. That's my whole thing with him.

It's okay. Funny and funny. It's funny.

It's funny. You know Mexican American and white and black stereotypes. We get it.

Give me something else. Be it divorced entrepreneur. That's what his his paycheck's bigger than mine.

Yeah. There's money that holds no. Never get that talk show.

He had two. Well, that type of comedy works for you. It really well.

It does. But, you know, the depends on the chicks. It all depends on the girls that are going to be on the show with them.

I get one of those things that he's going to be the least interesting person in everybody else around the world. I was a big fan of the conversation. I was too movie-caliente.

We have a couple of television biocontiosis. ABC has said don't trust the B and apartment 23 with the Vanderbeek is officially done. The remaining episodes of that show will air online if you're interested in such things.

Note, this was on ABC, right? Yes, sir. Note to ABC, why don't you stay away from shows that have the B word in the title?

Because both of them that you float it out there got shot down before an entire season was done. It's Disney. And NBC can't sell the show.

After three episodes. Was this the reality show? Yes, the matchmaker thing.

Eva Longoria was an executive producer for. Because she knows about being in a happy relationship. She was called ready for love.

When there were a couple of dolls, guys in the night or something, there was something in the news about it. I think just one, I believe, is one, as far as I know. Okay.

I think they were trying to compete with ABC's Bachelor. And because we have to reach all demographics, if you're a 12-year-old girl, Glee has been renewed for two more seasons. That's what you have called Getty Leone Tour.

And last night, the Clippers beat Memphis 1-12-91. I'm going to say something. John's beloved Clippers, not a slouch team.

So right now, Indiana, today, Indiana beats Atlanta 107-90. San Antonio over the lakeers, 91-79. Whoa.

And currently going on, your Miami Heat up, 26-19 on Milwaukee with a minute left in the first quarter. Although Milwaukee really thinks they're going to win this series. Not going to happen.

Yeah. It's hard to believe that the NBA season's already in the post. It just, this season went very, very quickly.

Let's go ahead and move on and do a little bit of a segment we like to call POI or person of interest. First of interest is a segment we do on this show, where we pick an entity, a person or an entity, and we debate their greatness or lack of there of, oh, I need to do this too. The pendulum swings back to me and we're going to go back to a story we talked about earlier in the show as what prompted POI this week.

When we talked about George Lopez getting a new sitcom on FX, and it got me thinking, you know, I knew George Lopez was decades ago. As a younger man and to a certain degree as an older man, big state of comedy fan. Bit of a state of comedy, aficionado.

And I remember George when he was a struggling comedian, but it got me to thinking and gentlemen, I definitely want your input here. Stand-up comics post sitcom. And why they're stand-up career, even after the sitcom goes off the air, tens of go.

Well, my opinion is that people expect the greatest hits toward. And with stand-up comedy, it's all about being fresh every different show. It's, you know, every season, every couple months you got change of the act.

So you'll go to George Lopez thinking you're going to see this. And it's actually not. You know, it's going to be something new.

So there are four, I think that's why the burger goes into the crap right there. But you look at the guy, and I'm going, I'll even play Devil's Advocate to my stuff on this. Louis C.

K. He's, it's a guy that has a different full hour of comedy literally every year. Right.

At the end of each year, he dumps all the material and it's all new. Yes, but that's what he's known for. He became big because of that, not because he became big because of a sitcom.

Do you think part of it, though, is because the sitcom is about him as a comic? Absolutely. Plus, he doesn't have to censor himself from his stand-up routine.

As much, no, no, no, no, no. As much as, say, somebody like Tim Allen or Rodney Carrington did when they were on ABC. They could stick to him.

He, Louis can still go kind of raw on it on it. Almost two different extremes because Tim Allen, even if he looked at what watches early early stuff, he was never really that blue. But he did go blue.

He did work blue. Not like Rodney does. Right.

And, and I thought the Rodney sitcom was a bad idea from a get go. Not as bad as a fox where the sitcom or the Ingval sitcom. But I think it's just, we've all went like three seasons, though, didn't it?

But it's still, it was just, well, because he had that one little demographic where the rest of the country didn't even know it was. It's a commentel about the third season. Well, it was also on CBS.

There you go. Yeah. Yeah.

I mean, a lot of it has to do with the audience that they're playing to number one. Right. Number two, it also has a lot to do with the level of success that they achieve at that sitcom.

And they can parlay it into either a movie career or something where they don't have to travel on the road all the time. They've made decent money. They get out of the sitcom.

They get out of the stand-up game. Pardon me, though, I've always had that. You've got to dance with the one you've brought me.

Milosophy. Maybe so. But that's what somebody like Drew Carey, I can give credit to because his, he has a daily show.

Yeah. So it's not like he's got a whole ton of time to hit the road. But somebody like Lopez or somebody like Carrington where your shooting schedule takes what?

Four months a year. Well, I remember Carrington came, he was famous for one thing, and then the sitcom was another. Whereas Louis C.

K. His comedy is one thing. And they're really not too far removed from the sitcom.

Therefore, you get what you expect. But the first show he had lucky Louis kind of was. Yeah.

Even though even though Louis kind of works in the same vein, Louis on FX more catered to him as a stand-up. Right. So lucky Louis didn't do that.

Well, whereas Louis, he says, well, because Louis is what you expect from Louis C. K. Which is really ironic, as they're in Lucky Louis on HBO, and they can really go full board with.

I know. I'm not true. We did.

But I'll tell you. And as we talk about this, there's a comedian right now that has a show. And I want to see how it affects his stand-up.

Have you seen legit with Jim Jeffries? That's a funny show. I hope I hope his stand-up doesn't sacrifice because I as blue as he works.

Right. Still funny. I'm not sure, Jim.

You know what? If DJ Qualls is not up for an Emmy this year, he's suing the academy. Oh, yeah.

Because he was brilliant on that show. DJ Qualls, who you remember from road trip. He plays and he quadriplegic.

Yeah. And he plays the, and Mindy Sterling, who played, probably in the out in the Austin powerstone, she plays his mom. Oh, yeah.

And John Ratsenberg replaced his dad, who was also brilliant this year. Absolutely. Um, I really hope it doesn't affect his stand-up.

But it just seems to me like these guys get a taste of it. Well, again, even after it falls apart, it's just like they still don't go back to it. Well, it's all the timing of when they get big.

Jeffries right now, he's getting big because of the sitcom. So therefore, his stand-ups, not going to be affected. Louis C.

K. Of course, he got big because of the stand-up who got a sitcom. So it is still given the people what they want, what they expect.

And that's going to determine the career after the sitcoms over. And it's like when Red Fox came out with Sanford and Son, you know, but I thought, okay, you know, and look at his, I mean, when you see him on stage, the guy is so raunchy. But if you, but if you know anything about Red Fox, yeah, you were lucky if he showed up for it.

Right. And if he did, if it was a seven o'clock show, he showed up at six, fifty nine. And if he was scheduled for sixty minutes, he was in the car out the door with checking hand at eight o'clock.

And yeah. Yeah. And then it's like, and took half the bar with him.

But I don't mean the Patriots. Yeah. Jerry Seinfeld, looking at his sitcom, and then based up on his stand-up comedy routine.

And then, I remember he played a comedian. He played the show. Right.

Same thing as Louis C. K. That's why he's still successful.

But I think Louis, to me, that's almost apples and oranges because, to me, Louis stayed more loyal. I don't know that Seinfeld does more than two or three gigs a year now. Not anymore.

Because Seinfeld has like $30 billion where Louis has long. He's about to do one here. But I think that's true.

But if I were somebody that had a passion for something, well, yeah. I still love to do, I mean, I'm not saying do three Ford shows a week. Think of the longevity of Seinfeld though.

When he started when he got through so you're saying, well, you know, maybe he doesn't have the passion. He had the passion for 20, 25 years. You know, as Louis has been in business for what?

15. We're still 10 more before you can get to Seinfeld. Yeah.

So is this the same thing? And I guess when we talk about that about having a love in a passion or something, you and I are both in bands. Right.

Should God forbid the day ever come that either one of us makes something of this thing? Yeah. I would like to think that even when I get to be older, that I would still, I might say that I want to do a full tour schedule every year.

But doing 40, 50 dates a year, that's one a week. I mean, my philosophy is long as it's fun. Yeah.

The moment it stops to coming fun, that's the moment you say that that's when you got to get out. Yeah. Right.

That's what you try to always had that conversation. Yeah. And when you listen to guys that show up on like shows like open an Anthony or or Bob and Tom, how they, you could tell that life on the road like that when you're just living from gig to gig on the road constantly, not even so much to the level where you can fly from gig and gig where you're having to pay your own gas and get yourself there.

Once you've reached a certain level of success, you probably, it probably has like, you have like bad memories of it. Plus you, at that point when you've reached that level, it says you've probably got a family at that point. You've got to why you got to get to do a full road schedule, but to still get out there and see your fans do three shows a month.

But I mean, but we're talking about how they're sitting there, they're, they're standing at career will go completely in the toilet after a sitcom. But that's what I'm saying. I'm not saying you've got to feel do a full road schedule.

But if you'll do a couple of shows a month, just to at least, and plus if you're, especially if you are involved in the creative process of your show, that keeps your chops sharp. Well, yeah, but you also have to count on a production team to back it. And they may not be comfortable with you just doing three four shows.

And it just gets the whole idea gets pulled. Yeah, I just, you know, maybe sign-feld has that kind of stroke. Maybe there are other comedians out there that still have, but it's you may have most comedians that have people that have that kind of talent that have a writing background before they come in the door.

Yeah. Most of them have executive producer credit on their show. Yeah.

And in, in in most cases, all they really have to worry about is booking a show time or an HBO special. And they don't necessarily have to tour with it. They get a huge contract from HBO Robin Williams ring a bill.

Moses, he hit the road. But he always has a killer HBO special that makes him a ton of money. Well, most of them tour one HBO special more us decades.

Well, no, he hasn't had to do all that money. Well, a lot of those guys tour before this special. They do all their touring doors, so they get the material on this specials actually like the, the last, the highlight.

Yeah. And after that, they can stop for a little bit. But in, in a lot of cases, they really had that, like, like, how many times has Robin Williams played gigs like at the Met and at Carnegie and stuff like that?

Because he hadn't taken that on the road. But that's 2000. Well, he took on the road because if you get the 2002 CD, the second disc is not the same.

Yeah. No, it's all, like, city specific bits. Right.

Yeah. She actually does write her stuff, which I haven't been pressed with. I tell you what, I'm a sucker for a good pop tune and she knows how to write them.

She's got a good pop tune. I think I'm a steak. And she's hard.

Hard to believe she's Christian artist too. She's actually, well, her parents are missionaries. Yeah, I'm sorry.

That's what that means. That's true. But, you know, you know, it's good looking and she's smart.

Oh, yeah. God. Here's an artist who's the voice we haven't heard in many many moves.

And there's a probably a reason for the butt being in this story. Lauren Hill is being sued for eviction from a South Orange New Jersey mansion. She's lived in since 2009.

She stopped paying rent last month. And so this now being the second month in a row, it's the lawsuit pilot type of paperwork has been filed. But then she dropped out of the scene for a while and like she's married to a maro.

Speaking of Murphy's have a, when I used to travel as a corporate trainer, had one of my trainees, Colleen Murphy, one of her daughters was hit by a car in LA, all she was out jogging and she was last I knew she was not in choosing critical conditions. So we want to send our thoughts out to the Murphy family. But dropkick Murphy's started selling a tribute t-shirt for the victims in Boston.

In 15 hours, they raised $60,000. They have already had six digits for the sales of these t-shirts that raised from 2499 to 2699 depending on what size you get. That's great.

That's cool. It's apparently got the like the skyline of Boston and it says pray for Boston or something. And apparently they did a huge concert.

I think it was Wednesday night and somebody took some pictures from it and I mean, you couldn't breathe in there. Like you were so close to the person next to you you could tell what religion they were. That's how many people I didn't think of this.

Todd Harrell, who is the base player from the band you heard the background three doors down. He is arrested in Nashville Friday night on charges of vehicular homicide. Ouch.

There's DUI and then there's this. Apparently he was driving at a high-rated speed and he clipped a Ford truck which went out of control struck a guardrail, a travel down an embankment and overturned. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was DOA at the hospital.

Apparently he failed, so it's field sobriety tests and admitted he had been drinking hard cider and taking pain killers. There was another bag of pain killers found in one of his socks and on top of all that. On top of all that, he actually got a DUI last year where he crashed into another vehicle.

So, rough news, we honestly, our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim Brad Arnold, the boys in kind of a tight spot right now because of it. What's as three doors down, are they playing live right now? They're touring with Dottree right now.

Oh boy, and they're going to be doing another leg of the tour with like two other bands this summer. Oh yeah, sounds like their base tech just got promoted. Yeah, so it's one of those deals where they're very unfortunate and I read that today and it just made me very, very sad.

I mean as far as a fighting game goes Normally, they didn't put a lot into a story mode for a fighting game It's like beat somebody up next beat somebody up next But they tie all this together. They has anybody in this room played the mortal combat reboot from 2011 Who's so you play it? You didn't play it doc.

No. Okay, they had a story mode in there where they took almost the exact same Concept where you play as a character for a couple of matches the story loads switches to another Persons perspective of the story you play as them for a few matches And basically you they just kind of run you through a who's who the roster by the time they get to the final chapter And they did the same thing here. They have fatalities and all that stuff no friendship That's not even that.

I mean, there there are super you know for lack of a better term super moves that you can pull off when you build up a meter And they just they kind of take you out of it for a minute It just kind of plays the animation and they're completely over the top like superman's for instances that he uppercut you Out of the atmosphere into space literally out of the atmosphere I mean shockwave goes off and then he flies up behind you and then knocks you right back down And puts a crater in the ground where you land let's finish Like like doomsday he'll get on top of you and punch you through the core of the planet all the way through to the other side and then punch you back up it I mean literally pummeling you the whole way. It's not just one punch one punch Bruce calls in the bat will be after hitting you with a couple of Batarangs and you're laying there stun and he bat flips out the way as a bat will build just run you over That's because he's a ninja right I think I think Outside of Batman. I think Rob's personal favorite is Aquaman Yeah, his special mood is awesome He fires like yeah, we got us just walks.

It's just on and on and on I do like violence and this kind of say yeah, I like this you'd love this They're for a little bit more like this.
