It is Tuesday night!
It is the 8th of February in the year of our Lord 2011.
It is 8 o'clock on the east coast.
It is 5 o'clock on the west coast.
It is time for the clubhouse's Robin Cody right here on Ustream.
Welcome.
A lot going on.
Even Chad said to me today he goes, man, y'all got a full show tonight, don't you?
I said, yes sir, we do.
Chad, can you hear me okay?
Awesome.
I thought we had some technical difficulties, but we are good to go.
Welcome to the clubhouse's Robin Cody.
I am Rob.
I'm joined each and every week by the other half of the name of this title that is Cody.
Hello.
I want to start off real quick.
A man who probably didn't think he'd ever reach 50.
50.
Happy birthday Vince Neal.
Well, I don't know if he's going to have a happy birthday.
Vince Neal turned 50 today.
Because isn't he spending his 50th birthday in the clink in the Pokey?
Not that I know of.
I know there was something going on in Vegas that Nikki and Tommy were going to be there tonight.
Well, he's going to spend some time in jail this year.
I don't believe you.
He's going to be there tonight.
Or will it?
Yeah, those two were in Vegas with him.
But some things going to be set on fire before the end of the evening.
So shout out to Vince Neal.
We welcome you.
We appreciate you being here every week.
Let's get into corrections.
He's crazy machines that we have.
Got the email for Pricewaterhouse late today, but I got the email.
Last week clean.
Did you have anything?
I did, you know, I got to look it back and I re-listened.
I did not have anything that just stuck out to me.
Hmm.
I didn't see anything either.
It's like looking for this on sometimes.
And then it's taking me away like a Christopher Cross album.
Go sailing.
Oh, greatness.
You know, he didn't have his picture on the front of the album because he didn't think
if he put his picture on it and it would sell.
Probably wouldn't have.
Probably kind of like Colin Hey thought.
If you've ever seen Colin Hey lead singer of minute work.
Probably the same.
He has one eye go in this way, one eye go in that way.
Got the Perry Saturn thing though.
Yes.
Actually, I think one of them is, may not be real.
Is he a dad?
Colin Hey?
He was on scrubs a couple years ago.
You are so quick to put people in the ground if you're not sure.
I don't know why.
By the way, according to Twitter, OU just canceled classes for tomorrow.
So the whole city expecting 10 inches of snow tomorrow.
So we're expecting something here in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
90 and sunny.
Tell bad they'll miss that thing.
As we've been telling you for the last few weeks, we have revamped the show.
You may think you've got the format from last week, but you don't.
We're mixing it up again.
We're going to do something a little bit different ordered every week.
Just kind of keeps it fresh, keeps it nice, keeps it clean and crisp.
As the kids like to say, did the kids say that?
Good, me.
Okay.
We're actually going to start with a little smackdown.
Well, they don't say anything.
They text it.
Maybe they text it.
They text it with short words.
Yes.
Speaking of which, just someone want to talk to you about off air of that nature.
We're going to talk a little smackdown to start to show off.
We are starting to show with wrestling.
Why?
Because we can't.
So I didn't actually get to watch smackdown.
I had to actually read results because apparently WWE has been slacking on getting their shows online.
I lost my internet access and my cable access on Friday due to the freeze and couldn't get Smackdown.
But I did read a recap of it and read it very, very thoroughly.
Let me ask you something.
A Wrestlemania pinata?
This guy.
What?
This guy.
I did watch this.
This guy.
Thank you for picking up my slack by the way.
Now, this guy in my opinion can do no wrong right now.
He's on every show.
Alberto Del Rio right now is over as a guy heel or face that I have seen in a very long time.
There's one guy I will compare him to right now.
And he was backstage of the rumble.
Carry on the clipboard.
Yes sir.
Yeah.
Del Rio is so over.
It's just unreal.
I don't know if anybody including him could have seen this coming.
Yes.
I mean, and it's not like with him I'm not ad nauseam yet.
Which is weird because you would think he would be an overkill.
But he's really not.
I'm kind of curious what the evolution, excuse the pun, of him is going to be.
But right now I think he's funny.
I think he's a good, kind of a break of momentum for people.
A little different change of pace.
Yeah.
So, especially on that show because you really talk about a show that's begging for a shot in the arm.
And apparently it's getting it.
I mean, we'll talk about that here a little bit later.
If you missed smack down this past week.
There is a new, there is somebody replacing somebody else at the announce table.
And the person that somebody is replacing I found to be strange.
As soon to be Hall of Famer in my personal opinion.
Booker T joins the announced team on Smackdown replacing Striker.
Yeah.
Why are we replacing him?
I didn't think.
I thought it'd be Cole.
I thought it would be Matthews.
Yes.
I don't know, but I'm.
Because Cole.
Cole's going to be on both shows for a while.
Yeah.
Striker may be thinking about getting back in the ring.
Do we know why?
Or maybe if is this thing with Lawer facing him out and are we going to put Striker on Raw?
Could be.
Could be.
I'm kind of, if it's not JR in the King, it to me, Raw's clunky.
If it's not JR, the King to me, it's not the same.
Yes.
But congrats Booker T that we're doing something with this signing.
I thought this might be something that we should.
He's announcing, he's coaching on tough enough.
And we still haven't seen Kevin Nash.
Good for Booker T.
I'm kind of wondering what's going to become a Nash.
I still think he might be the GM, which I think screws up the whole storyline.
But it wouldn't be the first time.
But he's here.
Is he here?
Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm a little confused.
Now this here had me burning up.
Well, we knew about this on Monday night of last week that Vicki was going to make the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Defended in a way.
It's never been defended before.
And the way we do this is Edge and Kelly Kelly and a two on three versus Zekeler.
And both members are like, oh my god.
The thing I think that bothers me is, why are we putting Lake Hool entitled World title matches?
Oh, you know why.
I just, I don't know.
When your husband is the Undertaker.
Like I've said, you do it every once.
This show, the Orton rumor, something's got to become of this because the show, you've got to freshen up the bed over there to me.
So, well Orton's got a movie to push here very soon.
I don't know if you read about that.
He's doing a movie where he's working with that Harris.
And Harris is a teacher who's got a kid who's a bully in Orton is the bully's dad.
Okay.
I read about that a few days ago.
Okay.
Is it just, hey, if you've been on a push in the last five years, we'll put you in a movie.
Huh.
Is that how this works?
Yes.
Okay.
Can I get a movie?
All right, let's get a movie where I get to shoot stuff.
Huh.
Oh.
Yes, it's all that too.
Happy 39th Big Show.
Go Frenchie.
No, he was, didn't realize he was that young.
Drinking out of my Frenchie summer slam cup this evening.
Yeah.
The Frenchie at the Big Show was above the equator of 40.
But yeah, the like cool thing.
Frenchie's two years over the knee.
Yeah, I don't know.
There was just something about that seeing them in a match with that type of implications.
It was kind of very weird to me.
And afterwards, Kelly Kelly is fired.
I saw.
Apparently, and they put her on the alumni page.
But if they fired her, why was she in Dallas with the Bella twins promoting?
You know, I was super bold the next day.
Technically, the next day, but almost a week later.
I was thinking that, but you know what?
Hey, the curtain's been pulled.
Nobody, let's be honest.
It is, it is what it is.
Vince has got to, in my opinion, work that bit.
That's just weird to me.
It's kind of like Vince almost wants to put, try, wants to put Pandora's box back together.
Yeah, that's true.
But you sent me an email saying ratings are steady.
Yeah, they're still people within the company and backstage and sci-fi.
The ratings for this thing are still very positive.
Well, let's be honest from a sci-fi standpoint.
Yeah, I'm sure.
It's doing ratings on sci-fi.
That big of deal.
I mean, I love the sci-fi network.
It turned me on to Firefly.
It brought me Battlestar Galactica.
I believe that the, I believe the Smackdown is before a show called Merlin.
Is that what comes after?
As I, once it ends, I just hit stop, but by Merlin.
Merlin.
Which is, it wasn't that an NBC show or a mini series or something?
Something like that.
Because that's to say, it's still an NBC universal.
Yes.
Now is Cape Comcast or something?
Somebody bought that.
Cable Town, if you watch 30 Rock.
But, I mean, that's what's going on here.
Not killing.
I just want to put it like her.
Like her.
I just, I wonder what we're doing with her.
I mean, are they, are they twe-
And I do want to talk about this a little bit.
Are they tweening her?
What, what is going on with the character known as Kelly Kelly?
I'm very confused.
A bunch of six-way diva matches is all I've seen it.
Well, how is this working into the Drew McIntyre thing?
Yeah.
It's probably need another person that needs a, maybe a little bit of a change of scenery.
Risa?
Yeah, I think her on Raw.
I was going to say, you won't really go to TN.
No, I'm talking about she probably wouldn't, wouldn't, wouldn't hurt her to get on another show.
It might not.
Yeah.
Chad's answering, asking an interesting question.
I have not heard about this.
I don't know if you've got any information on this.
Chad, let me do some research on that before I put something out there on that.
That's crazy, though.
Let's do a little music news.
Get ready because I'm, I'm interested.
I am.
Do you really have an interest in this?
I want to see how this sounds because I'll be honest with you.
Nobody to me, listen, okay, I'll stop.
Nobody sings anymore.
Everything's auto-tuned.
Everything's these robotic voices and all this kind of stuff.
But have you heard her perform live?
No.
I saw her.
I don't want to hear her.
Pretty good?
Well, I'm just kind of, that was, that was a big one.
She's one that tries a little harder than she should live.
We're all talking about Lady Gaga and if you haven't heard her new single entitled Born This Way.
Yes.
Drops on Friday to Radio.
Because that was a big album for her.
The fame?
I'm curious, can we do it again?
Can this robotic type Marilyn Manson Madonna crossbreed?
Can we do it again?
Yeah, that's a perfect way to put the, that's well done, sir.
Yes, I mean, I'm impressed by that.
Can we, can she build off the success of her last album?
And let me, let me just say, she's doing it right.
I've always said the way you get, you sustain in this business is don't let that star fade.
And she hasn't ever since just danced dropped almost two years ago now.
She has been constantly dropping music in.
She's ready for her new album.
After she said if she won a VMA, she was going to announce the name of the album.
She did, it's going to be called Born This Way.
She had a picture, New Year's Eve of her with it on a back of a gene jacket.
I just, like this song I like a lot, the telephone, it's a good song.
I just, I don't know, I'll listen to it objectively.
I'll put it to you that way.
Hopefully we'll have a report for you next week on the show of what we think of it.
We're going to talk about this next young lady a little bit more later,
but I did want to mention this because I saw this next headline today.
Let's go back to a simpler time, shall we?
Always thought she'd be the first one naked in playboy.
Almost what?
Almost what?
Almost what?
Some people I'm sorry, it's an entertainment show here too.
I thought it would be Britney.
I really thought that she would be the one because she went from bubble gum to dirty.
Well that took about seven years to have a baby.
We are talking of course about Christina Aguilera.
It's not the story you think it is, that's coming up later.
Today we find out apparently she's been enjoying a little bit of the sauce if you know what I'm saying.
Apparently she is drinking heavily, her friends are trying to get her to go into rehab,
and apparently she's saying no, no, no.
To the point where she just drinks until she passes out is the report I read today.
You know what I bet she drinks?
Zima.
Can they make that anymore?
I can see Aguilera kicking back with a Zima.
A little smeared off ice maybe.
Stop a couple jolly ranchers in the zone.
Chad and I had this conversation Monday afternoon before raw.
I used to be very on board with her.
Zima soup.
He said when did you turn on her?
And I said I can tell you exactly when I turned on her.
Right after she had her baby.
If you remember she didn't choose on the cover of People Magazine,
but they had the first pictures of her and the baby.
Since this was not the best selling issue of People Magazine ever,
she fired her, she fired her publicist like two days later.
That's that point I turned on.
Exactly.
I did see that.
Yeah.
She's got to understand that no matter what she does,
relevance is in the rear view mirror right now.
She had the problem that Brittany came out first,
had the big hit first, so no matter who you were,
you were always going to be in that shadow.
Whether you were Christina, whether you were Mandy Moore,
whether you were Jessica Simpson,
anybody of that ilk, you were going to be in that shadow.
That's right.
She thought she could fix it by changing her image every other day.
That didn't work.
Somebody online has how refer to her as a negative of snooki the other day.
And I'm like, that's not real far off.
She's something else.
You know, I haven't really followed her career.
I mean, you like to just pick a tabloid and she's in it.
Mm-hmm.
This was a simpler time for her.
Love this song.
As long as she stays away from...
You remember what her first kind of sort of single was?
When she on the Mickey Mouse Club?
She was.
But after that, when she first kind of had her first solo song,
it was a song from the soundtrack of Mulan.
I don't remember.
You told me that.
Yeah.
And she had real short hair.
I mean, you see the video and you're like,
is that the same girl?
If you have the Mulan DVD, it's on there.
But you know, she's from Pittsburgh, so.
Well, we'll talk about that later too though.
I didn't know she was from Pittsburgh.
That makes more sense to that.
Was known as the...
National Anthem girl at one point.
No, no, no.
She is again.
That's a different reason.
Reflection.
Reflection is the name of the song.
He's absolutely right.
Interesting story coming out of my section today?
Actually, this came out last week,
but it was really starting to be promoted today.
We have somebody in southeastern Florida
who is running for mayor of the great city of Miami,
M-town.
And when I heard this, I went,
it makes sense and he could actually win.
Who is this person?
Wait for it.
Let me see your problem today.
Shake them.
Do it with your friends.
You heard me.
Luther Campbell, formerly of two live crew,
is running for mayor in this great city of Miami, Florida.
One of the things that is on his,
I guess you could call it a platform?
Well, you know, to me,
if you ask anybody for the University of Miami hurricane,
flip-ball team of the 80s,
this is his second term for mayor.
No, it's his second term.
It may be his first ever mayor,
but it's not his first term as benefactor.
That's true.
Yeah.
Good luck, Luther.
Luther kind of turned it his back on one of his,
his stronger constituent sections of his populace.
When he wants to tax strippers,
he wants to tax them and then use that money
for inner city school projects.
He said in an interview over the weekend,
don't be shocked if he wins this election.
I'm telling you now,
if someone who grew up down there lived through it,
this guy could win.
I'm just letting you know now.
Let's move on to new releases
in your record store this week,
and that's right, I'm going to call it a record store.
I'm that old.
I just like the name of this first band.
I know who they are.
I couldn't pick out any of their songs,
but I know who they are.
Band is called, and you will know us by the trail of the dead.
They are a heavier group, obviously.
Album is called the Dow of the Dead.
Dow, of course, no T.A.O.
That is pronounced Dow.
I'm here to give you a little
international instruction today.
Also, a Dow, very popular with the kids.
She has a new album out called 21,
and what do you think about this last one on the list, sir?
Remember when this came out,
the original, not the deluxe edition.
Um.
Black Shooter.
I'm talking about Shooter Jennings,
Black Ribbons.
The deluxe edition.
It's about an old dish jockey,
he row of his, with a Black Ribbons.
Okay, okay.
The tapes?
Yes.
I always like Shooter.
I think he knows he's never going to be as good as his dad,
Wayland Jennings.
I like Shooter.
Who did he open up for?
Here.
Locally, that was a big thing.
He's opened up for Kid Rock.
He's opened up for quite a bit of people.
He's one of those guys.
Maybe he was one of the opening acts for that three doors down
in the Skinner Show.
I believe he was.
I believe that right now.
I think.
Yeah, I like Shooter.
Shooter, I like Shooter a lot.
I think I like his sound.
He's just never going to be one of them major blockbuster guys.
It really doesn't want to be,
it doesn't have to be.
I mean, he's Wayland's kid.
He owns it.
He's got his state.
But you know, he's not.
He's at the son of ladies and gentlemen.
Mr. Conway Twitty.
No, he's not.
He's not.
That's true.
That's going to do it for music.
We are burning through this because we've got a,
we're kind of, I guess you want to call it.
Yeah.
Back in, heavy on the show this week.
We're going to move on to a little bit of news.
We're going to head back to sports for you real quick.
Well, some people are right now.
We go to the NBA.
Cleveland Cavaliers, congratulations.
You now have officially gained sole possession of the record
for most losses in a row in NBA history with the big number 25.
What is going on in Cleveland?
It's this LeBron hangover.
Does he really make that much of a difference to that team?
I think it's a team that, you know,
they almost messed around last night and beat the Mavericks.
So I missed that game now.
Cleveland, I thought for a second, Dallas is fixing to lose
the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wow.
I mean, they really showed up.
I thought they played well last night.
I think it's a deal.
I think you've got a coach and what's bad is,
I'm a big fan of Byron Scott.
Yeah, I think he's caught in a really, really bad situation.
Yeah, I'm a big fan of Byron Scott.
Always have been.
I liked him in New Orleans.
He's a player's coach.
He's a guy that gets his player.
I've always liked Byron Scott, but you're right.
Now he's been kind of lumped into this situation.
And it makes him look like he doesn't know what he's doing.
Yeah.
So I've always liked Byron Scott.
I don't know if they're going to win another game.
That's unbelievable.
But I think Cleveland probably needs,
you can't blow it up and start it over
because you've already done that with the departure of LeBron James.
So, let me add this next.
Mark's prize isn't there no more crag-ilo.
Or is the Elgoscas?
Elgoscas?
Nope, not there.
So, and I believe they beat the mark of the horrible 82 cats.
So I believe they broke their own franchise record.
Kind of like, I was demanded.
Broke their own record.
Most consecutive weeks at number one.
So, this next bullet point,
I'm a little confused by.
Well, he did not.
They were talking about Blake Griffin got in all star not.
But was it he already in the contest?
No, the dunk contest, but not in the actual all star game.
Okay, so those aren't mutually exclusive.
No, I'm very interested about that.
No, he is.
Blake Griffin is now a western conference all star reserved.
Does that mean he has a table?
There's a waiter there for it.
No, no.
He is just not starting.
I was kind of shocked when the starters were named
and he wasn't on it because right now he's definitely
getting your highlight award.
Oh, absolutely.
He is the new human highlight reel.
I think no mistakes, sir.
It's all out of him in college, not shocked what you're seeing now.
This next bullet point that you gave me,
and I've got breaking all that.
This changed even after I sent the run sheet out.
Apparently there was talk again for the 39th time
that Carmelo was going to be in a seven person trade to the Knicks.
And then the mystery guests showed up at the table
at about three o'clock today, central time,
the Los Angeles Lakers.
That took me completely off that.
That changes everything in the West.
The rumor is the package that the Lakers would offer
to the Denver Nuggets would be built around Andrew Bynum.
I think I guess they're giving up on him.
They're putting everything on Odom.
What it would be was it would pal Gasol,
which start in Bynum's absence along with Lamar Odom
and move Lamar to power forward.
Wow.
So it would take some juggling.
The Lakers can get it done.
I know Ron our test to the Bobcats for Evers.
Oh, he works out.
For either Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace.
It's being rude.
You're kind of a good either way.
Yeah.
L.A. looking maybe this thing,
maybe this thing was bad,
and now I think they might need some freshen up,
but Carmelo going to Lakers, man.
That blows the lid off everything.
Do you think that's the spark?
This proposed training?
It's the spark that the Lakers need to kind of kick it
in the gear a little bit.
That's where approaching the ultimate.
The problem you're going to have there is one basketball
two superstars.
Melo is a very, very, very selfish player.
And Kobe's never had that problem before.
Yeah, I'm going to say Kobe's not a guy
that likes to dish the rock very much.
Yeah, but I think you're going to have some.
Just like that before it is not fair.
I think you're going to have some situations.
And again, Laker fans.
I say this as a heat fan.
You're not going to go on a 30 game win streak out of the box.
You're going to have to give this thing some time.
But I wouldn't mind having that line up in first round
of the playoffs.
Yeah.
I'm L.A.
Absolutely.
But then you never know.
You've never this thing could be off tomorrow
with the Lakers and the Nuggets.
But right now,
the Lakers kind of play in the little Yankee role right now.
Could this be a smoke screen, maybe?
It could be Dallas.
Even the Mavericks have jumped off in this all of a sudden.
I think to the Mavericks need to be on this with you.
No matter what this is,
you are renting a player.
I.E.
Cliffley, Texas Rangers.
You are renting a player.
But that's what we do in this a day and eight.
Yes.
Mellow wants to be in New York.
That's where his wife's work is.
That's where he's from.
He wants to be in New York.
So even at L.A.,
even if L.A. was to win a ring,
you're renting a player in Carmelo Anthony.
In essence.
Is this the last year of his deal?
Yes.
He is a free agent.
Speaking of those L.A. Lakers and where they might sit.
Let's get into some standing, sir.
Some standings.
Eastern Conference,
as you'll always start in the east,
in the Atlantic,
where Boston still holding on to an 11-and-a-half game lead
over the New York and Nicar Fox.
Toronto.
With a playoff team every year.
In the Atlantic Conference,
they're the mighty Raptors.
Yeah.
They're 24 games out of first place.
Somebody please contract the Raptors.
Or at least move them south of the border.
Move them somewhere.
In the central Chicago,
still 12 up over Indiana.
Chicago's going through a lot of,
a lot of injuries,
but hey, they're 34 and 16.
Would you know what the good news is?
Yeah.
No one's fixing to come back.
Well, not only that,
they're closest opponents in Indiana.
And Indiana's going through some turmoil right now.
Yeah.
So that's kind of helping Chicago
kind of keep the boat above water.
Exactly.
Over in the southeast,
Miami's opened up to a four-gain lead over Atlanta,
five and a half over the magic.
Big win over the magic over the weekend.
Yes.
That's becoming a quasi-little rivalry there.
And I enjoyed watching the state.
I enjoyed watching the state.
I think it's good for the league.
Absolutely.
In the Western Conference,
we'll start in the northwest,
where Oklahoma City,
over Utah by three and a half,
a lot of early MVP talk for Kevin Durant.
Won't debate it.
Love that kid.
He said, you know,
he's another, it's like I said last week.
The only thing I don't like about him
is the colors he wore in college.
Yeah.
He's a great player.
I wasn't sure about him coming out so quickly.
I also wasn't sure about Texas retiring his number,
but that's a different story.
Great player.
Great kid.
He's starting to learn how to deal with the media now,
which is the problem thing.
That was one thing I ever put a microphone in his face.
He kind of just,
he didn't know how to act.
He kind of tin-stunned.
But he's really getting there now.
He's getting there now.
He's getting there.
Over in the Pacific,
the Lakers,
10 and a half up over Phoenix.
At one point,
you and I both know that was close to 17 games.
Yeah.
So there is a little bit of a little panic mode in LA right now.
In the southwest,
at least that shrunk a little bit.
San Antonio now just six and a half over Dallas
and New Orleans.
They better,
they better scratch and claw.
San Antonio be equipped for the long haul.
See, I don't know
because they kind of came out of the gate
and turn three.
That horse needs a sugar cube and some water.
I think the All-Star base probably about right for them right about now.
But get some rounds, get some guys down.
I'm not saying title team,
but Dallas has weathered some storms
and they're six and a half games out of first place.
It's good enough for the players.
They are what they are.
New Orleans.
Somebody please contract New Orleans.
Or the League already owns them, right?
Yeah, there are another one that I just,
when I see them,
let me ask you this.
If they moved the New Orleans Hornet, where would you move them to?
What market in your opinion right now?
Well, needs a team.
The guinea pig to me,
and we know this,
was Oklahoma City.
Maybe you talked about that for years.
That'd be a great market.
I wouldn't mind seeing,
I wouldn't mind seeing a team
which I think the league owes them.
I wouldn't mind seeing a team back in Seattle.
See, I don't.
I really never saw that one.
That was a team that that city embraced.
To me, that city has always been owned by the Seahawks.
Kansas City.
Yeah.
Kansas City.
Kansas City.
Kansas City was a big player in the ABA,
and once the NBA and the ABA had to contract some of their teams,
Kansas City never got a team again.
Could you put a third team in Florida?
Where?
Tampa.
I don't know.
Jacksonville?
No.
Because they're going to lose the Jaguar's anyway.
Yeah, I don't think so.
In the sport.
Birmingham.
Alabama?
I think somebody needs to get some uncharted water with some of these teams.
Especially when you don't have any competition.
Yes, we're all going to the same places.
Yeah.
So yeah, I think it's got to be,
I would mind seeing somebody get,
really get off the mat,
get some, get,
some invitation to it and get some,
invent something,
And really go out and work your team promote your team and build a franchise. They were talking about moving the hornets to Chicago.
No.
They've got enough support in Chicago.
Yeah, Chicago doesn't need another basket ball team.
They're about to have four consecutive things are done in Chicago.
The starless so lucky she's not listening live right now.
It just beats her down.
But yeah.
I'm on board contract contract the league you've got too many Memphis can go Toronto can go New Orleans can go I'm not saying go away.
But let's move some of these people around.
So I'm on board with you there.
That's NBA.
Great little segment there.
And again welcome you are listening to the clubhouse with Robin Cody which is live each and every Tuesday night at eight on the east coast five on the west coast right here on you stream.
You can follow us on Twitter if you're so inclined.
I am yes that Rob Irvin Irvin has spelled ERVIN and I am Cody PS Hawk.
There's no punctuation.
That's all one word.
Also make sure you follow and become friends with us like our page on Facebook at the clubhouse podcast and make sure you visit our website at www dot the clubhouse with robin Cody dot com.
Find out about where we're going to be hoping to get some live live appearances.
Yes looks here the next couple of weeks will be on the lookout for that.
You get to our blogs I updated mine Friday I believe you've got a new one getting ready to come up aren't you getting ready.
I need something to hit me I'm thinking about going back to to doing some some I might be like almost a a sports time machine type thing to where you go back and maybe look at a certain player or maybe look at a certain game and that kind of things.
Also if you want to sponsor the show email our marking director she is misty her email address is misty at the clubhouse with robin Cody dot com.
You want to sponsor the whole show a segment of the show special editions we have all different kind of packages available for you on that as well let's move on shall we.
Somewhere there's a little kid trying to turn on his dad's car right now we'll talk about that a little bit later too.
As we move into movie talk.
The only headline I want to talk about today in movie talk.
We had quite a few movie trailers that aired during Super Bowl 45 on Sunday Cody and I were able to watch that game together again thanks for having us over appreciate it.
I want to run I want you to kind of give me your feelings on one by one on these because there I this to me and maybe I'm maybe I'm a little off here.
Was this more movie trailers than we normally get it was it was I was ever seen like every commercial break they were airing another movie trailer which I'm fine with that Doritos movie trailers beer back to the game.
That was the first and foremost movie that comes up next month called battle Los Angeles I believe did I see Aaron Eckhart in this trailer.
I thought I saw him I need to see another trailer for this.
And I believe Michelle Rodriguez is in this.
Yes looks looks good. I need to see a little bit more of it because the the trailer was very dicey.
Well every trailer and give you a whole lot all of the trailers they've released so far have been dicey.
I mean it's you're trying to watch but you're not sure we know what's an alien invasion movie because God knows there's not enough of those.
That was a feel for all the commercials we were all going extra terrestrial that seems to be the theme this year.
But I mean I'll check it out you know I don't know if I'll check it out opening night this isn't an event if it's not an event film I'm not going to a movie theater and I'm not sold yet.
What about you no I need to see a little bit more of it originally the Australian title for this is battle invasion L.A.
Aaron Eckhart Ramon Rodriguez Nio's in this out.
The very hot Bridget Moynihan okay former Mrs Tom Brady if I'm a recurrent Mrs Tom Michelle Rodriguez Michael Peña the great Michael Peña's also in this.
What about this limitless?
De Niro's in it.
De Niro's in it.
Do I need to me him and Bradley Cooper and Bradley Cooper takes a pill and all of a sudden he's somebody else and he does remember who he is and his life's changed.
He's very hot Abby Cornish and so you know I'll give it to I like him I'm sure eventually my wife's a big fan of him and I'm a big fan of De Niro.
So eventually I know for a fact this movie will air in my home probably be the Netflix.
So this will be maybe something on the Instagram for you.
Yeah I'll be seeing this but I mean we'll see.
Next up I might this this one might be one I'm going to check on TV to you.
But the next one up is Cowboys vs Aliens Olivia Wilde the great Daniel Craig the great Harrison Ford directed by John Favreau.
What do you think?
Looks good great idea.
I can never shock anybody or be shot.
Now I can't in Hollywood.
It's something creative and I think that's a breadth of fresh air.
Somebody did something that hadn't already been done or wasn't an old TV show or wasn't a remake so I think it's great.
This is based on a comic book series of the same name.
Also in this Sam Rockwell Paul Dano, Clancy Brown, Keith Caridine, Walton Goggins from the shield if you watched that.
David O'Hara Abigail Spencer I mean this has got some star power to it and you know me in Favreau.
And Favreau right now can do no wrong in my eyes.
Then there was this.
You sent me a message today and it shocked me about this.
Chad talks about Madam Los Angeles as the original effects guys left it to do a movie now in a skyline which was bombed horribly at the box office.
But this next one I was surprised when you sent me an email this morning and said you were out on this movie.
We are talking about the big budget for real ride that will be noticed door.
I just it looks clunky.
There's just something about this film.
We both differed. I said way back in the summer this would be the toughest one of these movies to pull off.
You think it's Captain America?
I do. I believe it's Thor and that trailer proved to me it's Thor.
Here is why I don't agree with you.
For you can pull off because it's fantasy and in this day and age with the effects we have the problem with Captain America is you have to ground that in reality.
This apparently was World War II.
I mean you're talking first of all you're talking Kenneth Branagh doing Viking lore already in.
Well I mean I don't think I don't necessarily think the acting or bad the stories bad something about then maybe they just pick some bad footage for the trailer.
Could be Natalie Portman Anthony Hopkins Chris Helms Hemsworth who you may know as Captain Kirk's dad in the Star Trek film.
Idris Elba from the wire.
Cat the very hot cat dennings is in this.
Stellen Scars guard Ray Stevenson Renee Rousseau Colm Fiora.
I just I think this is going to be greatest.
I know this next one.
This will be opening night for me in a theater unless I can score screen.
Well I'm not saying I would not go see the movie.
It's just something that I'm going to probably go with a real open mind and not really have my hopes up and not expect a whole lot.
I'm not going to walk in expecting Iron Man.
Well and in chapter or Iron Man 2 I'm not going to walk in expecting.
Oh no it's going to be a different flavor but Kenneth Branagh is a guy that directed Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
So the guy's got the chops to do it.
I mean this guy did a five hour version of him let's go.
Everybody in their brother.
I know if I've taken Oscar nods this next film.
Oh please.
And we are talking about a movie that one of my leaders in it.
Is he really?
I like him.
I was not aware that he is one of your favorites.
This releases and we're talking about take me home tonight.
Starring Tofer Grace Anna Ferris Michelle Trachtenberg.
Who else is in this thing?
There's a very funny Dan Folwell.
There's a lot of people.
This looks like a Valentine's Day.
The whole rate.
Angie Everhart.
Yes.
This looks like a Valentine's Day.
It's a very big full cast.
Michael Ian Black also in this.
Who directed this?
Michael Douse.
I don't know who that is.
And this is takes place in the 80s.
Yes.
Any trailer that right in the middle of it you drop in straight out of Compton.
I'm in.
This looks like a very funny movie.
It takes place in the 80s.
It's kind of a young kid who doesn't really fit in.
But he wants to go to this party.
It's very 80s oriented.
Yes.
It's not just a story in the 80s, but it's very 80s oriented.
We may double this.
I need to take our lovely wives and go see this.
I'll see this at the theater.
Anna Ferris.
Gosh.
She's.
She's.
I love this.
I just want to play the once in a pond time in Mexico soundtrack because I love that movie.
Next up.
We don't know much about what's going on here.
We've got.
We've had flashes.
Jack Hall's taking me home time.
The hot tub time machine of 2011.
That's big shoes because hot tub time machine was my favorite film of 2010.
Huh.
Well, she's out of my league just right there with it.
Two great films if you haven't seen them.
Next up.
We go to Transformers Dark of the Moon.
I'm going to let you go first.
And they showed a lot of great.
I like how the trailer is no sound but this siren.
Yes.
I think that.
That's a big pop.
A pump was going to walk in.
The trailer really sets a mood, a tone.
I was in on it.
I enjoyed it.
I liked it.
Of course, I'll go see it.
The movie.
I've enjoyed the other two films.
It comes out the day before my birthday.
I enjoyed the other two films.
So this one, I don't.
And this will be the last one according to Michael Bay.
I'm just not sure if anybody else needs to take the helm.
Let it go with three.
I'm good with that.
Lastly, we mentioned it earlier.
We're going to talk about it now.
I'm a little concerned as we talk about Captain America.
Also known as Captain America, the first Avenger overseas.
It's called the first Avenger.
They're leaving the Captain America part out of it.
Of course, Chris Evans, who was the human torch.
Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Dominant Cooper, also from the wire.
Another wire, people are just everywhere.
Natalie Dormer, Neil.
The great Neil McDonough is in this.
In.
I'm told a lot of this movie is going to be told in flashback.
This releases on July the 22nd.
I love the one sheet that's out.
I'm just worried what it's going to look like when he wears the helmet.
That's my only thing.
And we did see a flash that you will see the red skull.
So I was worried about Hugo Weaving not really becoming the red skull.
But he does, according to the trailer.
Again, I'll go.
I'll go.
I'll be there opening now.
Ready to rock.
I think it's got to be something that you totally clear your mind up.
As we lead up to the Avengers next year.
Yes.
Another roll cast in that this week.
Let's go back to the present now.
New releases in your local movie house this week.
Just go with it.
And no, I won't.
Adam Sandler, Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Aniston.
Adam Sandler plays a guy who hits on women by pretending to be married so that there's no regrets the next morning.
He meets Brooklyn Decker.
He doesn't try it with her, but she finds the ring in his pocket one day.
So now he has to perpetuate a lie with the Aniston as his wife.
And her kids is his kids and blah, blah, blah, blah.
Adam, what are you doing?
Yeah.
What are you doing, brother?
Billy Madison does have to go back to school or anything like that.
Happy Gilmore?
Great movie.
Yeah.
I just, it's just kind of like he just trying to do this bit forever.
And you've got to grow out of it.
It's something.
Yes.
So I hope it does well.
That was a bad movie.
I don't care what Andy.
All these hoody-toody reviewers are one of the greatest movies I've forgotten.
He spread it easily.
That was a horrible film.
Yes.
Paul Thomas Anderson, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Also this week, the Eagle.
This was a big player on the UFC pay-per-view last Saturday.
I'd say Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland, and Mark Strong.
This is a slave and a master going to look for a missing soldier.
And there's supernatural.
I think there's zombies involved.
I believe I'd rather watch Sparta because God's at the arena.
Moving on.
I know you're big on this one.
I know you've already got your tickets.
As Nomeo and Juliet.
Halt Kogan was doing a little voiceover.
Was he really?
He's got a little hardness.
I know the music's being done by Alton John.
Out.
I like him.
Hey, two words, three words, sir.
The Lion King.
Can't deny the greatness of the Lion King.
Now this one here.
Let me give you a quick rundown of who's in this.
James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Ashley Jensen, Michael Kane, Jim Cummings, who is very big on.
He's a very popular voiceover artist and some work on Animaniacs.
Maggie Smith, Jason Statham, Ozzy Osborne.
Steven Merchand from the original British version of the office.
Patrick Stewart plays Bill Shakespeare.
Bill Shakespeare?
Halt Kogan, the Terra Fermanator.
Is this role in this film?
And scene out.
Do I need Romeo and Juliet done with Cardinals?
No, dumb.
It is what it is, I guess.
Also, as much as I thought you had your tickets ready for this last movie, I know you've got your tickets ready.
I know you've got your tickets for this next one.
Tell me this bit's almost up.
You saw him on SNL this past week with Dana Carvey.
Never say never is the name of the movie.
It is the Justin Bieber story.
It's theaters on the N3D.
Can this watch not say 1459 already?
People just love him.
He'll be another, he'll be on that celebrity rehab in 10 years.
Him and Hanson?
But that hits theaters this week, man.
This kid is a force of nature.
And you can't, it's like Dan Patrick used to say.
You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him.
Lastly, this week in theaters, Cedar Rapids.
Have you seen anything on this?
Looks kind of funny, I'm interested.
Ed Helms from the American version of the office.
And Hase, John C. Riley, and Sigourney Weaver.
Ed Helms plays a local insurance agent.
Who decides he's going to spread his net out a little bit.
He's never left his hometown, never stayed in a hotel, never been to a club.
It's kind of a fish out of water story.
Ed Helms, funny guy.
It's funny in the hangover, I'm sure he'll be funny in the hangover too.
I'd check it out if I had a spare couple of hours and somebody gave me a ticket.
I'm not going to lie to you.
On your DVD and Blu-Ray shelves this week.
Life as we know it.
The Josh Duamel and the Catherine Highgold play people who meet
and get a kid dumped in their lap and they have to learn how to raise it.
Moving on.
Also this week, you again, with Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Betty White.
Basically, old high school rivals meet up again when one of their nieces is marrying the other one's kid.
This is a movie that if you've really made your wife mad.
This is how you pay your dues.
You got to watch you again.
Very still magnolia.
Really?
Really?
You're going to put a movie with Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver in this same breath as Steele Magnolia's.
So confident I was going to have to do that out.
Also this week, Tyler Perry's first foray into serious drama of a movie he didn't write called For Colored Girls.
I have heard good things about this.
I heard it did okay.
That's really all I've got because he's about to do another movie again.
Also a movie I'm sure Chad will be checking out this week and I'm not being facetious.
I'm being honest as paranormal activity 2 hits your DVD and Blu-ray shelves this week.
There were a lot of unanswered questions at the end of paranormal activity which is why this had to be done a year later.
The baby out in the middle of the road.
Don't do these kind of movies.
Not my bit, man.
Lastly this week and we'll do the rest of the releases on my blog The Romantics.
Have you heard anything about this?
Vagely.
This is a movie starring Katie Holmes.
Also another movie with Josh Duamel this week.
Anna Pacquen, Maila Akerman, who you remember from Watchmen.
Adrian Brody, Candice Bergen, and Elijah Wood.
The only way I can really explain this is the big chill meets my best friends wedding.
A little bit younger.
This is a bunch of college friends that get back together as two of them are getting married,
but one of them has feelings for somebody else and things ensue.
That's another big one this week.
Get to your video stores, get to your best buys, get to your wherever you get your movies from.
That's where those will be.
As we wrap up, movie talk this week.

hoping to expand that empire very, very soon.
Anything you want to plug, Cody?
No.
Do I cover it?
I think you got all our advertisements out there.
Let's do a little TV talk.
Very excited about this first story.
I know Chad's going to be excited about this first story.
Everyone in America today is excited about this first story.
You're being facetious, correct?
I'm stoked.
I'm excited.
I bet money this don't last a month.
Oh, it will, sir.
Coming this fall, a show we've all seen ten years ago.
To an MTV television near you, there is finally programming on this channel worth watching.
Be this and but head return to MTV this fall with all new episodes.
There is nothing more mindlessly hilarious than this show.
They've got to freshen up that bit.
As long as I get the music videos, I'm good.
Because them doing running commentary on especially music videos now?
Oh, this is a whole different level of funny.
This is taking humor to a completely different level.
And I can't wait.
This was reported late last week.
Entertainment Weekly broke this.
And I googled like a school girl.
I'm not going to lie.
I just want the videos back.
That's all I have.
What if there's no videos?
Then I will cry like a child.
Although some of the episodes themselves are funny,
when they get in the tire and they roll the tire,
I can talk about some of the episodes all day long.
But I won't.
I want you to give this a fair shot.
I did once before and it was ridiculous.
But that's the genius of it.
Also this week we got an interview with one Simon Cowell,
where he revealed at the top he's bringing his British show the X Factor
to America this fall on Fox.
He's having a little bit of a problem with Fox as far as who he wants for judges.
But right now, anybody?
You can be a solo act.
You can be any age or you can be a group act.
It doesn't matter.
Top prize is a five million dollar recording contract.
Biggest prize in the history of television.
So if you saw that little commercial they did during the Super Bowl,
which is kind of weird.
But that will air this fall as well.
Big fall for television.
Because my DDR is not full enough.
I'm going to get a little forward next week when Survivor kicks off.
That's that.
Speaking of TV, let's go do a little bit more TV news of a different style.
Because we're going to talk a little TNA wrestling because there ain't much to talk.
There's a little bit to talk about.
Man, this thing here's got to be almost done.
This first headline broke today.
And I saw this and went, really?
Kurt Angle has talked to Dixie Carter and has informed her that he believes
and so does she that TNA needs to start their own film company.
Do you see how much Vince struggles with this?
Let me reiterate that.
Vince McMahon struggles with having a film company.
I don't care that you do your show at Universal Studios.
You can't get blood right.
What makes you think you're going to have major feature films?
And do we need Jarrett in a movie?
Angle's got two or three down in the last couple years.
You're not going to get moment of truth too because that's going to the other company.
Hopefully.
I'm solid.
You're still solid on my ground.
Very excited.
What kind of promo speaking of which at the beginning of impact this week
where he took shots at Sting and Booker?
Booker T, nobody cares about him.
Sting, nobody cares where he went.
Let me explain something to you, Holmes.
Those three gentlemen including Kevin Nash leaving?
That sound you hear is clickers going off your programming.
Yeah, I don't...
It's still a sinking thought.
I'm trying to recreate something.
This next one is funny.
I had to call you until you knew about this.
For those of you who didn't listen to the last week's show
we ended up having to postpone our Super Bowl special edition
which is also available on the archive if you want to hear what we had to say before the game happened.
We had a little bit of a little snow problem last week.
To the tune of about seven or eight inches of snow
that's stuck to the ground for a couple of three days
and we're about to get some more apparently.
So Thursday night on impact
when we were in full...
full bore of this thing.
Mike Today says it's very important that we go to comments
made by Christy Hemi earlier today from Dallas
and she updates us on the Hulk Hogan Dixie Carter court situation.
Now, two Christy Hemi's credit.
What was in the background did appear to be the downtown courthouse in Dallas, Texas.
I will neither confirm or deny that I've been inside there a couple of times in the last 16 years
but she's in a tank top
and there's not a spike of snow on the ground.
Yeah, it was about a bombing 12.
Yeah, here.
I'm explaining something to y'all.
Just say we're going backstage and do a blue screen or something.
Yeah.
Because, yes, when they did tape that on Monday of last week
the weather hadn't gotten bad yet but it was really dog on clothes.
I just watched that and I was like, man, Dixie.
Call me, say I'm split in hairs. I'll let that go.
I'll let it go that you're gonna say I'm split in hairs but sell this thing.
Try to sell something.
At the end of the episode we realized we was revealed who they are
as fortune turns on immortal
and if you go back and you watch that episode which I'm not saying you have to
but if you choose to.
They kind of dropped really, really not so subtle hints as the show went on
because I thought I knew going into it.
I thought somebody had ruined it for me.
As the show was going on, I was like, okay, this would make sense.
AJ Sand would lean that way and how lackadaisical they were in the ring
at the beginning would make sense.
And then, here it comes.
So, memo to everyone that is not in immortal or fortune.
Welcome to the bottom of the card because this thing is going to dominate
TNA programming for about the next four months is what I'm estimating.
Probably through slam of our story in June.
You with me on that?
I'm in.
Are you in or are you just with me?
I'm with you.
I don't want you to put anything out there that you're not sure of.
But Immortal is there.
And that's what we're going with.
I don't know if this is the shot in the element company means.
Much less we're gonna have at home with the Jarrett's.
And Kurt's kids are calling him daddy Jeff.
Let's slow your old speed racer.
Never been real big on the kid in the angle.
No pun intended.
Remember when Mysterio and Guerrero did the bit with race kid?
Race kid and then they had race daughter with the punk thing.
I've never been real big on the kid bit.
No, I just, do we have to bring people's families into this?
Yeah.
Why can't we just wrestle?
You know, Papa Shongo didn't bring everybody's kids into it.
Hardly racing bring everybody's kids into it.
It's personal all that money.
Jerry Lawler in the 50s.
Just say it.
Let's talk about our classic match.
Can we do that?
We can't.
This week's classic match is one I chose.
It's about the first one I've chosen.
I'll kind of let Cody run with his little bit.
But I think it's time that I took a little something over.
We watched, I actually got to watch right before the show,
because I was having technical difficulties in my house.
WrestleMania 3.
Randy Savage versus Ricky the Dragon's team boat
was my favorite WrestleMania match ever until two years ago.
Until Sean Undertaker won.
A couple of backgrounds here.
This was March 29, 1987.
I was a freshman in high school at the time.
No, I was in the eighth grade.
I apologize.
I was in spring of 1987.
I was at the now defunct Pontiac Silver Dome.
Attendance of 93,173, which was an record for an indoor sporting event
in North America until Detroit again.
No Houston.
No.
What?
It sure is heck what in Sunday?
It's right down the road, sir.
When the NBA All-Star gave it a cowboy stadium.
That's right.
But that 87 until 2009 that held.
I forgot about that.
There were eight matches before the card.
There were three matches after.
This was a huge card at the Pontiac Silver Dome.
Two full and quite a bit of fluffiness.
Let me run it for you.
You started out with the Cannam connection of Rick Martell and Tom Zink,
who defeated the magnificent Don Morocco and cowboy Bob Orton.
You have the full Nelson Challenge, as now known as the Master Lock Challenge,
as Billy Jack Haynes and Hercules go to a Douglas Claw of the Cannes.
Double DQ in that.
Then you had a six-man mixed-tag match.
Wait till I read this to you.
Hippoly Jim and Little Beaver out.
And the Haiti Kid out.
Versus King Kong Bundy and Little Tokyo and Lord Little Brook.
So it was two four little fidgets.
Gosh.
As hillbilly students team wins.
You had junk yard dog.
Be losing the Harley race and a loser must bow match.
You had the dream team of Brutus Beef taking Greg Valentine.
How does that equate?
But beating the Rugeo brothers, so we watched on ECW a little while ago right here at the studio.
Roddy Piper beats Adrian Adonis and a hair versus hair match.
Also, Piper's Farewell match.
The Hart Foundation and Dangerous Danny Davis beat the British Bulldogs and Tito Santana.
The Natural Butch Reade with Slick beats Coco Beware.
The match we're about to talk about.
Then you had the honky-tongued man beating Jake the Snake Roberts with Alice Cooper.
The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkov win by DQ over the Killer Bs.
And then of course Hogan beats Andre for the WWF title.
Only two title matches at WrestleMania.
Did you have four belts at this point?
Did you include the WWF title?
No.
World Intercontinental Tag Women's.
I've watched this, I have.
If you don't have this, even though you can't see what I'm holding in my hand right now,
it's the WrestleMania 3 Championship Edition.
Pick this up. It's a Tunisks set.
The first disc is the Pay Per View itself.
The second disc is the Pay Per View.
It's again, but it has like a pop-up video thing.
The reason they did that was it was in time for WrestleMania 23, which was back in Detroit.
That's why they did this.
Gene Ocarlin says at the beginning of the match in a little pop-up window,
he says both of these guys were nervous as heck going into this match.
So he's exact words.
They were pacing in the locker room looking at each other.
Just the nervous energy was translated well into the match itself.
Do you remember what the theme was to this Pay Per View?
I do not.
I'm going to play it for you right now.
I do remember that after the match here.
Actually, no, that's not this.
It's the same artist's different song.
I typed it in the wrong song.
This album, same album.
It's not freeway of love, but it's the same artist.
Rita Franklin, who's zoom in?
Who was the theme song to this?
One thing I did take from this historically is how the win did nothing for Ricky
and Randy got the belt to here later.
Close circuit only.
This was not Pay Per View.
You had to go somewhere to watch this.
Over one million viewers generated ten million dollars in revenue.
Your announced team was Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse the Body Ventura.
Your referee was the now departed Dave Hebner,
whose twin brother Earl Hebner works in TNA and did screw Brett.
Watching this match.
It was set up, of course.
It been set up since superstars the previous November when Randy hit a steamboat in the throat
with the belt, supposedly crushing his larynx, and we went from there.
The moves kind of, and it's weird for me to say this, but the moves seemed more real.
Like there was a more a feel of, and my question to you on this front is,
is that because of this was a time before the curtain was pulled back?
Did you do guys worked harder to make it look more quote-unquote real?
Yes.
Because the curtain hadn't been pulled back?
Yes.
And is that part of what makes the product suffer?
I think so.
Because I was looking at this and I was going,
this real, I mean this...
Well, you also had two guys that would work, and worked well together.
Yes, that was another thing that I think made this work.
But really to me, what I take away from it is, I think there were little things in this match
that cheapened it.
I think George D. Animal Steel's involvement.
I don't know if he was necessarily needed to be involved in this match to make it go.
Part of his storyline at the time was, he had a crush on Liz, that bad.
And so he was out there at ringside.
At one point, Randy dumps, steamboat into the crowd,
and Steel picks him up and brings him back over the rail.
There were 20 near pinfalls in this match.
And that to me was part of the greatness of this match.
There were so many false endings that the crowd was on their feet.
And there, and you got to think of where this thing sat in the card.
This thing should have been right before Hogan Andre.
You would think.
But you're going to go to Sheik and Volkov,
versus the Rouge.
Was it the Rouge shows they wrestled?
You've got the DVDs, the Killer Bees.
The Killer Bees?
Is it going to follow this match?
That's ridiculous.
And one of the guys that was in the little pop-up window that came up and said,
this was a match that he watched and him and his buddies
would emulate the moves in this match.
Chris Jericho.
Yeah.
Since thank God for home video, because I rewound this match a hundred times.
When I first got it.
One of my favorite matches of all time, of course,
steamboat wins the intercontinental title.
He would defend it at a bunch of house shows before losing it to the honky-tongue man.
Then Savage would go face, and win the title back from honky-tongue man.
And then he would lose it later on that you said a year later
would win the World WWF title at WrestleMania 4.
Yes.
So, I just, it was weird how they...
been in this note.
I just, steamboat to me never really,
he never really caught on in that promotion.
It was kind of like,
it was just kind of weird to see him in the WWF.
After being in the NWA for so long and seeing him in that role,
guys when they would jump, it always just seemed weird.
Whether it was the brain busters, whether it was him, whether it was...
They just said...
They didn't fit into the bit.
Yeah.
It really showed you the difference between them.
But that's our classic match for this week.
Cody's gonna pick another one for us for next week,
which I'm very much looking forward to.
Let's talk a little college football, sir.
Yes.
Just a couple things tonight.
I've been watching schedules.
I'm fascinated by that.
And I do love it when you bring me this news.
Just a couple games here that have been announced for either this year or next year.
We'll start off with the big news coming down Saturday night here locally
that the 2011 kickoff game at the Cowboy Stadium in Arlington...
That's a Labor Day weekend, right?
Yes, will be the LSU Tigers and the Oregon Ducks.
That is how this football season will get started.
Kind of a weird matchup, don't you think?
Um, with Oregon.
I'm shocked.
You could put LSU in there with anybody in our mail.
Yeah, because you were that close to that.
I don't know what Jerry...
I don't know what he's aiming for.
I don't know what he's trying to do with that because...
Like last year, Oregon State with TCU.
I just...
I never understood...
Why are we getting so far out of the demographic of airfare travel?
I just understand it.
I don't get it either.
I think tickets for this game are probably pretty easy to get.
Unless LSU just travels like no tomorrow.
I think it'll be a fun game to watch.
I'm hoping that the friend of mine is supposed to be taking my wife and I to this game
and I'm hoping that so happens.
Got one team that sees an opener.
University of Georgia and Boise State have finally finalized their deal to play at the Georgia Dome.
That wasn't Boise State trying to get this thing into Idaho.
Yeah, I tried to power it.
I still wanted it there and then it went back and forth.
They said, okay, we'll do this.
So Georgia's still technically the home team as things are set for the Georgia Dome.
A team I'll be very watching, very, very close so this year will be Nebraska.
They get their first test of the big 10 regime for them.
October 8th.
Ohio State in Lincoln, Nebraska.
You know what?
Fun game to watch.
I'll watch that game.
I will too.
I will watch that game.
Also 2011, been announced.
Auburn will travel to Clemson.
Auburn to the Fending National Champion will travel into Death Valley.
Is that where the Undertaker's Howard Rock there?
Also one that I thought was kind of...
Woo!
Made me get kind of...
Weird.
You're losing.
You're going, okay.
Let's go.
As Oklahoma has announced a season open opponent, it will be the University of Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane coming to town.
Back to...
Back in...
Rumor is...
Tinnively Tulsa.
Atop 25.
Ranking going in the year.
I just think the big 10 has to...
Big 12, excuse me, has to get some identity because you're only playing 10 conference games.
I think you've got to get some muster on the schedule the next two years.
2012, Michigan vs Air Force.
They announced that today.
Michigan's added Air Force to their season.
Michigan Air Force?
Yes.
I'm on board with that.
Michigan also announced last week they will play the University of Alabama at Cowboys Stadium in 2012.
On board.
Michigan vs.
Alabama here locally.
Also, to announce that kind of was put up or shut up, we talked about this.
Also, Oklahoma will travel to Amon Carter Stadium.
Get ready for it, Worth Texer.
2012, as Oklahoma will play TCU.
There'd been some back and forth.
Some people on the TCU side of the room said nobody will play us.
Did you get 12 people in your stadium?
Nobody will travel and Oklahoma said hey, y'all came here last.
Let's do this deal.
So that will be Oklahoma season opener at Fort Worth, 2012.
Found that out today.
That will be a season opener.
We can go that game.
I can't miss it.
I think they move it.
I think they move it to Jerry World.
That's going to be a big game.
It doesn't seem like so now, but that will be a lot of haters.
That will be a big game.
It'll be a lot of haters fantasy.
Also in 2012, shot to see this.
And kind of want to kick back and applaud.
Texas has scheduled a home and home with Ole Miss.
Really?
Yes.
And also in 2012, we'll play at Arkansas.
Excellent.
I think you're seeing some big 12 teams going, hey, we've lost Nebraska.
We've got to meet and up.
We've got to do something with our schedule.
Yeah.
We've got to get in the conversation because we don't play that championship game anymore.
Also announced, like I'm saying, I'm watching Nebraska.
Nebraska will travel to the big house, making their first trip to Nebraska in over 70 years.
Really?
And they will battle the Wolverine on November 11th.
That'll be fun.
So a lot of your college football schedules are coming out.
I'm pretty intrigued by some of these, mostly the out of conference matchups.
And that's college football talk for this week.
This is going to get lighter and lighter and lighter as we get into things.
But some of these schedules, you can go to different websites.
And you can see a lot of your teams upcoming schedules.
Some of these matches are very intriguing.
So once again, you are listening to the Clubhouse with Robin Cody live right here on Ustream.
We are here every Tuesday night, eight on the East Coast, five on the West Coast.

Yes.
That's right here on Ustream.
If you want to email us, you can email me Rob at theclubhousewithRobinCody.com.
I am Cody at the Clubhouse with RobinCody.com.
Emails with ideas you have for the show, questions you want us to answer.
We answer every email we get.
Also, stick around with the next few weeks.
We are going to have some very, very big announcements coming down the pike I am very excited about as this show episode 31.
We have made it 31.
We are almost matching my age or past year age now.
Yes.
At least for the next couple of weeks.
Let's go back to professional wrestling.
I always like this team.
I like doing it.
I like to do it.
I do, but I like this team too.
Let's talk about some more WWE headlines as we get into RAW.
There is a new degeneration X-DVD set coming.
On April the 5th, it will be called DX1 Last Stand.
The reason I put this on here, and I don't know how much you've read up on this set,
this kind of covers that, of course, one last stand.
Yes.
If you get the blue ray version, you will get the DX reunion footage from tribute to the troops this past December.
Oh, good.
That's the main reason I put this on here, because you talked about it.
I didn't know about it.
I want to see it.
Speaking of one half of degeneration X, there is the RAW.
They're calling it a RAW taping, but it's got to be a RAW show, because it's a Monday night.
March 28th is return.
It was advertising the return of Triple H.
This is the Go Home Show for WrestleMania.
So we're not going to see him.
Allegedly.
Why would you bring him back at the Go Home Show before WrestleMania?
I don't put a whole lot of stock in that.
We'll see.
I keep reading.
His return is intimate.
Imminent, which means any day now.
Whenever I say trip, you're on.
Are you working, Gorilla?
I'm actually the anonymous DM here.
Be funny if we come out.
Everybody agree with what?
Hold up that old school I see belt.
Bring them all.
They have to blur the WCW cruiser weight title out.
Good luck.
Wow.
And what a terrible episode of Monday Night RAW aired last night.
There's really nothing to take from it.
And I will...
Vince McMahon returned to television.
I'll tell you this.
I've read this morning.
He is not a happy camper with the Orton New Nexus spot.
Randy Orton needs to realize who signs his checks.
He's very upset with the broken nose on CM Punk.
So he did indeed break CM Punk's nose.
You broke that to me today.
Yes.
Now, do you have anything on this Husky Harris thing?
Is he really injured?
No, we're having a bit.
I think they're working.
Have they just written him off television?
Yeah, I think they're just kind of working the bit a little bit.
Because I have not heard confirmation or denial either way.
So...
But yeah, not a whole lot to talk about.
I mean...
This...
Our Trues didn't know where he really was.
John Cena had a field day with it.
The only thing I think...
People, this...
This Lawler thing is going to happen.
I mean...
I know that.
Do you really put Lawler in the Miz on a pay-per-view?
And one of your chambers is going to defend the title.
The other one is...
The only thing I can think of...
I'm confused with me here.
The only thing I can think of is...
Maybe our Trues really hurt.
And the Miz hurts Jerry Lawler.
He can't go.
Dendrana's GM says...
The person's going to take our Trues in the chamber is the Miz, the titles on the line.
That's the only way to say...
You know what?
That's true.
I'm on board with that.
You know what?
I'm on board with that booking.
That's the only thing to me that can save it.
Then what do you do with Lawler?
Put him at the table.
Where he belongs.
But then there's people backstage that say...
He's a lot of people like him.
But why now?
Why are you pushing Jerry Lawler in 2011 and not 98, 99, 97?
Why now?
What frightens me?
He's going to win that belt.
No.
No way.
He's going to win that belt.
No, he's not.
You remember when I called it when sheamus won it?
I called that a month ahead of time.
He's not going to win that belt.
Lawler wins.
That belt.
Now I'm not saying he doesn't drop it the next night on Raw.
But all this buildup about Lawler's never had a shot.
Lawler's never been the champion in the WWE.
He was the USWA champion enough for everybody and their brother.
Yes.
But all this talk I'm telling you.
Lawler wins this match.
And it's going to blow the wheels off of everything.
Also, Vincent Mann does show up on WWE Television talking about a host for WrestleMania.
The rumor that I've heard is Bob Barker, but I've also heard that the Bieber will be at WrestleMania.
Maybe to sing America the Beautiful?
Out.
What is your...
Do we need a host for WrestleMania?
What are we doing?
Historically, Vince has always tried to celebrity up WrestleMania.
He's done it.
He's always done it.
Yeah, but not as a host.
No, but this is a thing that I think he's done some in the past.
So it doesn't shot me.
I've seen him do it before.
He did it with Bob Euker.
He's done it with different people in the past.
So I just hope Pete Rose don't show up.
Oh, that's a possibility, isn't it?
It's not going to be Lesnar because he just resigned with UFC.
So, Chad asks about the rock.
I don't know that you ever see the rock on new WWE TV.
Or unless one day he finally gets in the Hall of Fame.
That's the only way you ever see him on any type of WWE programming again.
I don't know that if Vince calls him for the Hall of Fame, then he accepts.
Eventually.
Because you know he's not...
Now that he's been part of that fast and furious franchise,
he could do a 19 of those.
That's true.
And really, honestly, that's going to cover Raw Tommy for this movie.
This show was that bad.
A lot of wrestling, though.
And that's one thing a lot of people complain about.
There's enough wrestling.
There was enough wrestling.
A lot of it was really bad wrestling, though.
It was just like, okay, and here's another beat down for the Nexus.
Okay, here's another beat down for the Nexus.
Okay, here's another beat down for the Nexus.
But with a lot of wrestling,
I did like the Mark Henry famous bit.
Yeah.
That was funny.
Oh yeah.
Because Mark Henry is the cool aid man.
Here's one.
He cannot get rid of his sword.
And this aid, we got some good.
And let me tell you something.
You're really not going to get rid of it because pictures and catchers report next week.
Eight days.
Eight days from today, pictures and catchers.
If you're a Ranger fan, that would be surprised Arizona.
Yep.
Yankees in Tampa.
Let's talk a little bit.
Actually, let's go to the good old finish up first.
Because we want to.
We want to put this first first.
It needs story in its proper frame.
Yes.
Major League Baseball.
You know what?
I'm kind of hankered for it.
Yeah.
I don't know why, but I.
Yankees, because I know I'm facing an NFL lockout.
Yes.
I thought I got to have something to latch on to.
You know, and I enjoyed last season probably from beginning to end.
And really, really, really enjoyed last season.
But yeah, eight days.
We're getting ready to crank this thing up again.
And you and I are committing to go to at least one game this year.
Yeah.
I went to.
Yeah.
I haven't been to a ballgame in the ballpark in years.
But let's bring it.
Let's bring the lights down a little bit.
I'll sit down for a moment.
This is one of my boys.
I will remember you.
This is not a bit.
This is real.
Hmm.
Saw this coming.
Yeah.
Kind of did.
Yeah, for there was a small glimmer of hope he might come back.
And then it was announced late last week.
The great.
Great.
Yes.
Pitcher and the Pettit.
Retires from Major League Baseball.
Sixteen.
I have 16 seasons.
Yeah.
He's been a league.
250 wins and five rings.
He's the only player in Major League Baseball history to never have a losing season.
And on that note, I'm going to pitch this across the desk to you.
Because this is one of your favorite players.
Yeah, Andy was a guy.
You know, Andy was a.
I always thought he kind of.
He tried to take his key.
He tried to commit career suicide.
The the Astros thing.
I never got him going to the Astros.
Roger Clements.
Maybe.
That's what that was.
I believe at the time Roger Clements was his BFF.
I believe.
I believe is it.
I believe that he's a Hall of Famer.
I hope he doesn't get wrapped up with the Clements crap.
Andy Pettit.
I think he's kind of distance enough from that that I think he's okay now.
It might have.
There's a rumor that the.
That this is your brother-in-law asking us to have anything to do with the Clements testimony.
That rumor is out there.
I said he said.
I watched the press conference on Yankees.com.
He did say that he just felt like he couldn't give 100% or his whole heart into it.
And he didn't want to do that to his teammates.
Great guy.
Texas guy.
Yeah.
Texas was almost a Ranger.
It was almost traded in 97 for Rusty Greer.
Rusty Greer.
So.
And we all know that.
Yeah.
That didn't quite happen.
But yeah, Andy Pettit, one of the one we're getting further away from that generation.
Yep.
And Andy Pettit was the Astros wing of the Hall of Famer.
The lasting impression of him I will have is when him and Cliff Lee doled in the Bronx.
This past, you thought, you know what, Andy?
Cliff Lee, here we go.
And when Cliff Lee and Andy Pettit left, it was zero zero.
So that's kind of what you wanted in that top of deal.
But Andy Pettit is going to be missed.
I think if things are in an up swing there in the Bronx,
I believe they will try to bring him in.
Again, I think they make one last ditch at him later in the year.
And if they're a playoff team,
most postseason wins at any pitcher and major league baseball history as well.
Yep.
Great pitcher.
Great pitcher.
Now this thing here is getting weird.
It's the next story.
Yeah, this somebody, this, you know what, it's kind of like,
hey, wife, we both cheated on each other.
There's not, we have to divorce.
It's Yahoo!
As put this as a very ugly divorce.
This has come out to be pretty wacky.
Michael Young has told the Rangers you have to trade me
because I will not go to the DH position.
Now, I am not a proponent of the DH.
I never had that.
I never will be.
Am I wrong here?
I mean, he is much too young to be feeling this damn old.
Yeah, I'll tell you.
But...
A lot of people think he could be a Yankee.
In what capacity?
Once again, you've got a situation with a guy like me.
Well, but if...
If...
Geter moves to the outfield, A-Rod moves to short,
that's the only way this guy is.
Yeah, that's a weird...
Because if he's not going to play DH here,
what makes anybody think he's going to play DH anywhere else?
Yeah, I just...
He's the longest tenured player on this team.
I don't think necessary to position.
I think he feels like I've been the face of this franchise.
And...
I've done...
I've sat on here and went through losing seasons.
I mean, they lost 100 games two or three times in his Ranger career.
Yeah?
I think he thinks that John Daniels owes him a little bit more
than to sign Adrian Beltray.
Then you sign...
I believe signing Napoli out of Anaheim.
To me, that was the deal breaker.
Because not only are you taking away...
That's from him.
You're taking away time at first base.
Because Napoli's now been brought in to relieve Moreland at first base.
So, to me, you've kind of got a situation to where...
I believe Michael Young...
Michael Young still feels like...
I should have been communicated with more.
And as Ranger fan,
don't fall in love with your players.
That's a fan of any team of this.
This is sports business at its best.
You are seeing sports business at its best.
Hey, Mike.
You got to be scary?
Yep, got to be scary.
Could he be a Ranger till the trade did, right?
I said that earlier.
I talked to Matt earlier in this process.
And I said, I wouldn't be shocked if he wasn't around at the trade deadline.
Man, but I don't think we knew this thing was that ugly that night.
I don't think we knew the internally what was going on with the two parties.
I don't think we knew really what was going on with it.
Uglier situation.
This one?
Or poo holes in the cartels?
Yeah.
That could be one in one day.
Because this thing...
This thing in St. Louis I saw last night started to get a little weird.
Yeah.
He's saying February 19th deadline.
But back to...
Bell Trade, he does.
But man, he was young was not what he was defensively.
He just wasn't that player.
And I just...
Good choice.
I just think it's going to be one of these deals that where if the Rangers trade him, get a warm body.
The Rangers don't need any picks.
They don't need prospects.
Get the number one farm system, Major League Baseball.
They don't need problems.
But they trade the farm system away.
That's what they do.
I just come play here then be go great somewhere else.
And I'm hearing the three destinations, the Dodgers, the Dodgers 4, the Dodgers, Colorado, the Angels, and the Yankees.
Are the places he may patrol.
I don't see the Yankees and Rangers making any deals.
No.
That has gotten to be another situation.
But yeah, I don't know, man.
And I don't think the Rangers are dumb enough to trade him in division.
I would...
The smartest thing to do is ship him to the National League.
But then I don't know if Michael Young's in every day third baseman in this league anymore.
My question is, who controls the room down?
Ian Kinsler, he misses 25-30 games a year.
I think that Matt has a great point.
It's got to be Josh Hamilton.
Yes.
This is the guy.
And I've always seen Josh Hamilton as a guy that could be a leader on this team.
Now they're far away.
Yeah?
That Rangers have offered money.
He's turned it down.
They've offered two years.
He's turned it down.
This new ownership better realized what the chemistry and the core of this team is.
Real fast.
They're trying to play Yankee by everybody baseball.
I just don't know if this ownership's equipped knowledgeable or financially enough to do that.
Well, speaking of which, another former Ranger, Vlad Guerrero agrees to a one-year eight-million-dollar deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
This lineup, I'm going to tell you right now.
This lineup looks like an old Yankee lineup.
I mean, they want to compete.
They want to compete.
They've spent a lot of money.
Great stadium.
Yes, they've spent a lot of money on old veterans.
Sometimes that works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
But they also got Lee out of the Cubs.
Derek Lee playing first base there.
Former Merlin Great.
Yes.
I mean, they've got Vlad.
They've got a lot of talent on that team.
I just don't...
Sometimes these old veterans sometimes things just don't go well with them in that direction at all.
And this last story.
If you're really...
When I heard this last line, I was visibly upset.
Apparently, a statue is front of Riggly if I'm not mistaken.
Of the great Lelite Great.
Harry Carey was vandalized.
You have any details on this because I didn't even want to redestory it, maybe so man.
What's weird is, it was a Harry Carey as a statue there, a bronze, of course, of Harry Carey in front of Rigglyfield.
And somebody with white spray paint on the back of his jacket just put socks.
So a white socks fan visibly vandalized a statue in front of the Chicago Cubs stadium.
That's smart.
So...
I'll just do that on there.
It's kind of funny that, look at me, I vandalized your statue.
Leave Harry Carey alone.
Do we need to go back and maybe the...
Let's go vandalize the statue of Frank Thomas in front of Kaminsky now, and then...
Are they going to go rap each other's houses?
And we'll toilet paper action.
Wash window. I mean, you know, what are we going to do here?
Soak windows?
We need Harry Carey alone.
That man never did nothing to you.
Has it?
Moving on.
Now we get to the reason we've rushed the first hour and a half of this.
Yes.
We've got a lot of NFL to get to because there's not much that I fell up to do after this.
This is the last trip on the island.
For how long? We don't know.
Yeah, we don't know for sure.
But we know that Mike Munchack is the 16th coach of the Tennessee Titans franchise history.
If you include the Houston Oilers.
Yes, that's what that means.
Hall of Fame player. Good luck.
I believe that he's walking in.
Well, that, and I believe that team's got some problems.
They have, outside of Chris Johnson, they have zero offensive weapons whatsoever.
That's one reason why Vince was not very effective there.
He had no receivers.
Well, he's technically still there right now.
As of right now at 8.32 p.m. Central Standard Time on February 8th in the year of our Lord 2011.
He is still a Tennessee Titan.
I just...
They still say they intend to trade him.
But as of right now.
Well, if he hangs around there and things don't get done with him.
I'm going to tell you, they've got to get the guys some weapons.
Yeah, because God, he had no receivers.
But good luck, Mike Munchack.
Yes.
Okay, I'll make sure I have that right.
Yep.
Let's talk about this Hall of Fame class.
I was in my car on my way over to our good friend Barb Wires House to watch UFC 126 on Saturday night.
You called me with this breaking news.
You know, it was what it was.
I wasn't shocked by anybody.
I guess for a little bit I might have been.
Hall of Fame announced Saturday night.
Of course, Deon Sanders.
Paz, it's constantly me.
First ballot Hall of Fame, I think everybody kind of...
Let's be honest.
Did you not think Deon was first ballot?
Deon did.
Oh, and he'll tell you about it.
One thing that I did get a little shocked of was...
All three senior guys got in.
And who didn't get in?
And who didn't get in?
One that kind of jumps off the page at me.
You had three wide receivers, four of them.
You had Shannon Sharp, Andre Reed, Tim Brown.
And of course, Chris Carter, who were there.
And we thought that they were going to...
This was a year of Chris Carter.
One of these guys got in.
None of them got in.
You put in a tie.
Well, one of the four guys got in.
Shannon Sharp gets in.
Tim Brown does not get in again.
Chris Carter now goes for his seventh year on the ballot.
Unbelievable.
And Shannon Sharp gets in.
I don't understand.
I don't know.
Deon, Marshall Falk, another guy that I look at and go,
is Marshall Falk a first ballot Hall of Famer?
See, I think he's a Hall of Famer.
But I don't think he's a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Do we talk about this on the normal runs?
We talked about this last week.
I just don't understand why...
Is it one ring in Seattle that did this?
Or I just...
I don't know.
I don't know.
But Richard Dent got in.
So...
Which I think was very deserving.
85 Bears.
Of course, also Curtis Martin.
Not in.
Charles Haley.
Not in.
The biggest one that sticks out to me is Tim Brown.
Absolutely.
I'm not putting Chris Carter in that same sentence.
But Ed Sable did get in.
See, to me, that's first ballot.
So Ed Sable family, what they've done with NFL films,
if those guys have to be in the hall.
Excuse the pun.
Former Washington Red Skin Limebacker Chris Hanburger.
In.
Nicknamed the Hangman.
The hangman.
Like that.
Oh, let me try hard.
The hangman.
Yeah, we had no like that.
We had no Raiders this year either.
It's always a weird time.
No who?
None of the Oakland Raiders got in.
Okay, so I want to make sure.
So yeah, none of the Raiders got in.
And that's always, but Marshall Falk, Richard Dent,
Chris Hanburger, Ed Sable, Shannon Sharp, Dion Sanders.
And that's it.
That's your Hall of Fame class next year.
I don't know, man.
I think you've got to get Chris Carter and Tim Brown in pretty quick
or they're going to lose relevance.
But Andre Reed and Chris Carter, not in the NFL Hall of Fame.
It's like we talked about though.
Maybe they're kind of spacing these bigger names out.
And then there was another debacle in Dallas this week.
Let's go back a little bit before we get to the mean potatoes.
We forgot to do random sports facts.
I'm going to run these on you real quick.
We do these every week.
Just pick the couple of them.
Uh, February 2nd.
In 1876.
Long before you were born, sir.
Uh-huh.
The Nat baseball's National League is formed at a meeting
at the Grand Central Hotel in New York City.
League consists of Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati,
Hartford, Louisville, New York, Philly, and St. Louis.
Huh.
Only the only two of the eight original clubs
to operate continually are the Braves and the Cubs.
So there's that.
February 4th, 2001.
NBA referee Joe Forte, a Jack's Heat Fan Jimmy Buffett
from his court side seat for using profanity.
You remember this?
Yeah.
People were Pat Riley was trying to consent to the lesbian
sky who know who he was instead of his fans were
parent heads.
The referee thought that Pat Riley was calling him a
parent head turned into a huge debacle.
It was Jimmy Buffett, wasn't it?
Yes, sir.
It was.
Uh, February 5th, 2009.
I wanted to point this out was the anniversary of Pat
Summit winning her 1,000th game as head coach in the Tennessee
Women's Ball, basketball team, and today on this day
in 1936, because it's kind of ties into what we're
talking about a little bit.
The National Football League holds its first draft of
college players on this day in 1936.
At the time, the NFL has nine franchises.
Two in Chicago.
The Cardinals and the Bears.
And then Boston, Brooklyn, Detroit, and Green Bay,
New York, Philly, and Pittsburgh.
The Philadelphia Eagles choose first and select
a J. Burlanger, a half back from the University of
Chicago, and the first college player to be awarded the
Heisman Trophy.
Wow.
Unfortunately, Burlanger believes he can make more money
outside of athletics and will never play an NFL game.
Think about that one for a moment, sir.
Tell a little they were paying those guys back then.
But yeah, there was a not only the Hall of Fame class,
was a debacle.
No, no, Chad Ross of Urbos is not the second pick in that draft.
But the Super Bowl 45 made it to stop in talent.
Let's have a little Super Bowl fallout talk.
Oh, man.
There are 400 people walking the planet right now.
Who?
I felt a lot sorry for 36 hours ago that I do right now.
For those of you that don't know, there were four sections.
Uh-huh.
That ended up being roped off because they didn't have the seats
done in time.
The NFL actually knew that this might happen midweek
and decided to quote unquote, take the gamble.
These people ended up a weird situation.
Yeah.
There's a lot of you watching, especially here locally in the Metro.
There's a lot of footage you see.
I mean, it was like any of these people that could get
a front of a camera and complain and the camera was rolling.
And they did.
They were doing it.
They were offered and given free food and beverage.
Triple the face value of their tickets for $2,400.
And they will be the guest of the NFL at next year's Super Bowl.
Assuming it happens.
Right now, I'm told tickets to the game and accommodations
is what I've been told so far.
They also were allowed on the field post game.
Okay.
Tony Cornheiser on the four-letter network brought up a great point.
So a lot of these people were fans of Green Bay
or they were fans of Pittsburgh.
Uh-huh.
Let's say one of those teams, your team doesn't make it next year.
You can sell that ticket on eBay for $5,000.
Yep.
You could probably sell it as Chad said last night.
You could probably sell the whole package on eBay if you really wanted to.
I don't know if it's not transferable.
Exactly.
But UK, you told me an interesting story last night about this thing.
I want you to reiterate what you were telling me last night
because I found this story fascinating.
There was a guy, there's a sports talk station here locally that
threw this, this was yesterday midday,
threw out a deal and just said somebody called me.
If you were here and you were there, you were not talking about
who's with us on television.
Now we're talking about if you were at the game,
what do you think?
Well, a gentleman here, a gentleman from Chicago
who is in roof to DFW International Airport to get back to Chicago here in Dallas
was at the game and threw out some interesting things
from a actual fan who went, it's point of view.
It took two and almost three, over three hours to get from the car to his seat.
That's insane.
That was opening.
The drivers getting out, the line to get in the stadium were temporary,
buried off individual lines.
And it took him two and a half hours to get through that line.
It took me over three minutes to get from the couch
and you're living room to the food and the kitchen.
I'm just saying.
Yeah.
They said once you're in the stadium, things looked very unorganized at times.
Concessions were running out of beer and hot dogs in some sections
before the end of the first quarter.
That is insanity to me.
So the first quarter, they were already running on low on your money makers,
booze and food.
Then, if you want to go down to the pro shop before the game,
it was an hour and a half wait and they were taking numbers
and letting people in and out one at a time.
That was for souvenirs.
That was too bad.
To me, that's one of the worst mistakes that Jerry Jones made with that stadium
was making that one big pro shop.
There should have been at least one on each side.
Yeah, in my opinion.
Put this American Airlines Center here and dials to the same thing.
Yep.
And it's just as bad.
Yes.
But yeah, it was an hour and a half to get in and out of the pro shops
as far as buying sweat shirts and all that.
But then there were some good things.
There was a goodie bag at every seat that included a keychain.
Very nice.
Of the logo, of course.
You already got a souvenir.
Yes.
And you got to keep your seat cushion.
Very nice.
And usually the seats at Cowboy Stadium not have a seat cushion.
These did.
You took that home.
Also a sticker decal of the logo.
And the thing that I think is the coolest of all of them.
Got a little ear headphone and a little piece.
Almost like a transistor radio.
If you turned it on and you automatically got the Westwood One Feed
that was carried on the 1053, the fan and dials.
Do you know any more about that?
Is that something that they'll be able to use as a radio in the future?
I don't.
I think it was the one way.
Okay.
So basically after the game, it's a paper right there.
It did have the Super Bowl logo on it.
Okay.
Which makes it a little bit.
But he said the end game was fine.
The product on the field.
Everything was great.
You also in that bag got a glow stick during the black guy piece performance.
You looked at the screen and said, break glow stick.
Now.
And you're kind of felt like you were part of the performance.
And the halftime show I was in the same thing.
Yes.
And also he said after the game, a lot of they didn't just shoot you out of the building.
Especially the packer fans were able to move down the lower sections.
Nice.
Get a clear view of the trophy presentation.
And that sort of thing.
So it wasn't all bad.
I think right now I still got a grade at an F.
The game itself.
The game itself I was impressed by.
Everything else was an utter failure.
Yes.
Oh, I agree.
I agree.
I think the game itself of the highest rated television show in history.
In history.
And now it's going to get to that.
A 47.9 share.
162.9 million viewers.
That is a 3% increase over last year.
The pregame saw a 14% increase over last year.
Why?
I don't know.
But you know what game it'd be?
No, 31.
Giant's Broncos.
Huh.
Oh, sorry.
21.
I apologize.
Not 31.
Yeah, I'm just kind of wondering that that pregame was kind of weird.
That pregame.
This is what I'm going to say about the pregame.
First of all, thank you Fox.
For not starting the pregame at 9 o'clock in the morning central time.
Oh, CBS clock.
Was that like the game that was never going to start?
They started it at 2 o'clock Eastern 1 o'clock Central,
which four hours to me is perfect for a time frame.
I could have done without the red carpet.
I thought that was horrific.
I don't need Michael Strayhand interviewing celebrities ever again,
as long as I walked a planet.
As pretty as Maria Menunos is?
Access Hollywood in my love.
That's your, that's your show up on WWE programming.
You want to be a diva?
Go find them.
Good.
Every celebrity said the same thing.
Well, I'm rooting for this team, but the other team might win too.
I'm told Keith Urban's performance was horrible.
I didn't pay much attention to it.
I just don't know that this city was ready.
Well, more importantly of that, we did have a game.
We did have a great game.
And the Green Bay Packers won that game.
Yes, they did.
That was your call.
Somebody in this room.
Yes, you did.
But you got a little sweaty there.
There's corners.
I did.
Pittsburgh Green Bay, two storied, storied teams.
Absolutely.
Love enjoyed every minute outside of halftime.
I'm a big, always been a big fan of the Super Bowl,
the pageantry around it.
And I kind of once the game kicked off, I felt it.
I probably didn't fill it all week because of the weather here in Dallas.
But I felt it.
I felt it when the game started.
Green Bay does win 31 to 25.
Aaron Rogers is your MVP.
If you didn't see this, he wins a brand new convertible Chevy Camaro.
Oh, that thing was pretty.
Super sport.
And was crowned.
Obviously World Heavyweight Champion out there.
I saw, I guess, edge letting Barrel the belt.
Somebody, our good friend Rob King on Facebook sent me a message and said,
Hey, man, Aaron Rogers is working your belt.
I was like, dude, he's right up the street.
I just thought of borrow it for a few minutes.
But yeah, great.
And apparently that belt was given to him by a local CBS affiliate in Green Bay.
Great game.
It lived it up.
But you really had to think.
Ben, with the balls, one time out, two minutes left in the football.
If you're a football fan and anything about the Steelers, you really had to feel Pittsburgh
was fixing to pull that thing off.
This was going to happen.
You really thought, here we go.
25 guys that had been in a Super Bowl before.
Yes.
You really thought, once Green Bay got that ball back with one time out,
and two minutes, you thought, Green Bay, I mean, Pittsburgh's fixing to do this.
Here we go again.
There was no reason not to believe it.
Santonio Holmes, isn't it?
He doesn't play anymore.
But he's the same like with Arizona.
You gave the ball back to Pittsburgh with time left.
Yep.
And Green Bay was up to the challenge and pretty much shut them down.
I believe the turning play of the game was the Mendenhall Fumble,
the middle of third quarter, which turned into seven more Green Bay points in my opinion.
But great game.
I don't know if Dallas is going to get another one.
I think they will.
I think I really think that they're going to get a mulligan here.
You almost think they have to.
Yes.
Because of the...
The weather was unexpected.
We talked about this on Super Bowl Special Edition.
It's on the archive if you haven't heard it.
This was not anything.
When you're having to import snow plows from the other side of the state.
And if you know anything about Texas, this is a big state.
Especially when you go east to west.
I think they will.
We'll see.
Bitting on Super Bowl L, that group will be led by none other than Troy Ackman.
So, Super Bowl 50.
I don't know why I did that.
I just wanted to do that.
So, I'm going to have the other time.
I am going to do something next week when I pump this right now.
I'm going to do a little bit of a mock draft.
Top 10 mock draft.
Is that going to be your list or is that going to be separate from this?
That's going to be separate.
But I'm very nice.
I'm going to do a mock draft.
Top 10 mock draft next week.
On the, not the NFL island, more like the NFL.
It'll be on the boat.
The boat.
It's the draft crew.
Now, we'll come back and draft this every once in a while.
Let's talk about that national anthem.
Let's talk about the pregame itself.
As we, as the pregame moved on.
I didn't have a pro.
I like the way Fox had the guys set up in that little deal.
I like the guy for anything.
He made some great stuff.
Then we get inside.
And Leah Michelle does America the beautiful.
You know her from Glee.
You also know her from the Broadway production of Spring Awakening.
Uh-huh.
First thing I soon as she opened her mouth.
I said she's lip-syncing.
Was she?
I think she was.
That vocal was too clean.
It was. It was.
It was.
Too clean.
Which, and normally I'm fairly critical of people who lip-sync.
Then something happened after that that made me go.
Everybody should lip-sync no matter what from now on.
Um.
Christina.
Unless you've been living in a cave.
You know the Christina Aguilera debacle.
She messed up too.
Now honestly, and I can honestly say, as I sit here.
With my journalist to integrity in place.
Because I am journalist.
Remember the media.
I didn't even notice it.
Until somebody said something to me.
I said something to you.
In the room.
Yeah, I was like she just.
She just felt.
She just felt that lie.
Yes.
She said she got caught up in the moment.
As soon as she was done.
She was be lying out the door to the airport on a plane to LA.
I heard she got caught up in the sauce.
That was surprising.
But you know what her next gig is?
She's honoring Aretha Franklin on a fundraiser.
So.
You better be prepared.
I mean, if you are.
If you ever go to a Ranger game.
And you sing the national anthem and you're standing at home plate.
Those words are on the screen in center field.
A great little Texas usually does it.
Can we have great little Texas?
Can we have somebody out there with a cue card?
Because I mean, I'd be afraid to screw up the words.
That'd be my biggest fear.
If I ever sing the national anthem at a game.
And I am available for anybody locally.
I'd be afraid to screw up the words.
I would need them somewhere in case my brain locks.
You know, everybody.
And I said this on Sunday night at your house.
Everybody wants to be Marvin Gaye at the All Star game.
I believe it was in 83.
You will never, ever, ever, ever reach that level of greatness.
I don't care who you are.
Whitney Houston got close in 92.
But no one will ever do a national anthem as memorable as that.
It won't happen so stop trying.
Sing the song.
For those of you that know me, I timed this thing.
It was a minute 55.
The last note alone took 10 seconds.
Unnecessary.
Sing the song.
It's a rip off on a British drinking song anyway.
So deal with it.
Your thoughts.
Sorry, I'm going to calm down here.
It was a song.
Yeah, I just, and I agree with some.
I take it a tad bit disrespectful.
I understand people get caught in the moment on stuff.
I'll give a spade a spade.
It's not the first time in the history of America that has ever had.
Oh no, there's lists all over the internet today.
Somebody let Roseanne sing it.
I believe that was the Oakland Athletics.
Yep.
So you remember the little girl that, that, that flubbed it in the playoffs.
And we're great.
Mocheeks came over.
We're out to mocheeks.
I miss Mocheeks.
We're lucky.
Lucky she got away with doing that because she screwed it up in Philadelphia.
I thought that was in Portland.
Was it Portland?
Yeah, because he was coded.
No, he was coach in Portland.
Huh.
That's why he became a local hero there because of that.
That's where, that's where he made his name to the public.
The Mocheeks statue in front of the Rose Center there in Portland.
I like Mocheeks.
Then we moved to halftime and another group of people that should lip sync.
Man, we said this.
If you listen to Super Bowl special edition, we called this the day before.
We've called this since they announced this in one October.
This would be a disaster.
I said to you as soon as that clock said second quarter zero zero zero.
I said let the failure begin.
And it did.
Rumors coming out the slash bit might not been him.
No, that was him.
Okay, we did confirm that because I know there was some talk Monday morning.
Well, there was, I read on websites Thursday that he and Usher were going to get there.
Well, it was so bad Usher couldn't save it.
Well, Usher never sang.
No, was that Usher?
Remember, that was my first theory.
Is that really Usher?
I'm going to start calling you conspiracy theorist Cody.
Yes.
That's your new name.
Was that really Usher?
He sang like four lines.
And the rest of it was just Will I am doing?
Er, my dodge.
Can we leave the auto tune out of it too?
That's in it was they were those type of groups and that type of music sometimes does not transcend well to live performance.
Well, I have seen them perform live, not in person.
But on on television on multiple occasions and it's never worked.
I've said the same thing about Mary J. Blight.
She's a great studio artist.
I've seen her.
I've actually seen her live twice and she's back.
Stop trying to trick it up and sing the song.
If you would just sing the song, it may not be that bad.
Because I've heard for you sing rock songs.
And I heard her sing Beracuda and blew the roof off the place.
Why do they have to...
My boss said to me Monday morning he goes I just read somebody that wrote after listening to Fergie sing with Slash.
I didn't realize she had a manly or voice in Axel Rose.
She was almost an octave lower.
I'm just wondering where we go from here.
Well, you said to me the other night.
Could a rumor, the Indiana or Superl, if there is one is an Indianapolis next year.
And the rumor coming out might be of one John Cougar, John Mellon Camp.
But John Cougar Mellon Camp maybe.
I'm on board.
I don't want to tie that down, but there has been rumors of such.
I am on board with that.
I like him.
He's Mr. Indiana from a musical standpoint.
I'm good with it.
So, again, that's if we have a season.
And that is...
And the presentation overall, I enjoyed it.
Part of it I'm sure was the company that I was in.
We had a really good time together.
Had some great food.
Had some great times.
I just don't know.
Where do we go from here?
Well, we've got to make sure we've got a season first.
That's the first thing we have to figure out is,
they've got until March 4th.
That was the number I heard thrown out Sunday afternoon.
I've heard of a rumor that they may to save the season next year.
Gidell is thinking about extending the current deal by one year.
That theory is out there.
I put all this to rest.
Extend the current deal by one year.
Talk through the over the season.
That theory out there does exist.
I'm okay with it.
But I'm telling you NFL,
don't think it's going to crush America if you lock out.
Because if you don't think that the networks have a backup plan
that we've talked about on this show several times.
I don't know about you.
Crazy.
I'd watch OU Texas in Primetime on a Monday night.
I'd watch Notre Dame in Primetime on a Sunday.
And it will happen.
Make no mistake.
We'll see.
That is going to do it for NFL Talk.
We've got one more little piece of business to do.
Straight light just came on so it must be time for the list.
We appreciate everybody being here and joining us each and every Tuesday night
at 8 on the East Coast, 5 on the West Coast.
We have so much fun doing this show.
It's a ridiculous how much fun we have.
But it is time for the list.
And the pendulum swings back to me this week.
Viewing this song.
Yes sir.
It's my listing.
By the next time we go on air.
It will be after Valentine's Day.
So I said to myself,
I'm going to do a list this week.
Now Valentine's Day style list.
Now normally I like to have some help from the internet and things like this.
This is a list I've written completely by myself.
This is the top, this is 10 creative ways to spend Valentine's Day.
Fellows, maybe your lady doesn't want the candy and the flowers that just send her every year.
Maybe she doesn't want to go to three forks.
I like to go to three forks.
That's just me.
So just some creative ideas.
I'm feeling kind of Martha Stewartish.
I don't know, is that was that work here?
Yeah, you're 10.
You're 10's got me.
I'm going to say 10.
That's the first one I thought of.
Number 10.
A picnic.
You can do a picnic anywhere.
You can have a picnic on the living room floor.
Hey, put the kids down for the not folks.
Maybe we'll have to mess with our cops.
We'll get a little saucy in here in a minute.
But you know, this time of year of course where we are, not feasible.
They're climbers, but you can always do a picnic anywhere.
You can, you know, move the furniture out.
You know, maybe fire up springtime scenes in New York City on the TV.
Or maybe do some hazard.
Hey, only if they had the Atlanta Falcons flag hanging off the couch.
We haven't even touched the commercials.
But that's pretty much been beaten to death I think.
My favorite silver beaver.
Still the kid.
Still the Darth Vader kid.
Did you see that picture of him?
Yeah.
The young Mark Campbell.
How creepy is that?
Number nine.
Going to a local poetry reading or going to see a local band play.
Maybe, maybe not in chemical tree, dox band.
Maybe a little heavy for Valentine's Day.
Yeah.
But maybe you're ladies into that.
I'm not your judge.
Maybe Jason Ball in the straggler.
Could be.
Maybe you want to go see sons of the Trinity.
Yes.
They are.
Always an acoustic set of Valentine's Day very romantic.
Number eight.
Going to a museum or an indoor garden.
We have the arboretum here in Dallas.
That's true.
Yeah.
It's just something different to do.
I'm a big fan of the museum.
Only certain kinds of museums, right?
We spent a night in the museum.
No, but I believe Ben Stiller has.
Rock me.
Every week it's something.
There it was.
Number seven kind of ties into number eight as we talk about maybe going to a planetarium.
Just don't bring a juice box if you're a friend's fan.
You know what that rock is?
I like I'm a fan of the planetarium.
I haven't been to used to be one here and miss.
They're still here in Mesquite.
Is there one in Mesquite?
Yeah.
I don't know.
I think it's through the school district.
Yeah.
There's one here locally.
I went to Chad and I were over at Fort Worth a few years ago.
I went to the planetarium over there for a Star Wars exhibit.
They had that.
It was pretty neat.
I'm a fan.
Number six.
Go to a restaurant that neither one of you have ever been to.
Got to be at least one.
Yeah.
You know, when you, when you, your lovely wife like to go out to dinner, what kind of work?
Where do you guys like to go?
We've got some spots.
And if you want.
If you want to announce them spots, Misty at the clubhouse.
Well played, sir.
Yeah.
Well played.
We've got some local places.
Number five.
A group date evening.
Maybe you get three or four cuts.
Luther.
Brother, it's Valentine's Day list.
I've got to have Luther on the list.
I heard.
He was, he was, he was, you played Luther.
I'll stop a freight train.
Fat Luther and skinny Luther.
Either way, I'm dead.
Okay.
If they had played this in that movie with, with the train, with Denzel.
The train would never off the track.
True.
God rest his soul.
Yes, sir.
Little here now.
Yeah.
One of my favorites ever by him.
A group date evening.
Maybe you get three or four couples together and you all go out and have a good time together.
You know.
Sometimes you just don't, you, you want to be around other people.
Sometimes you don't.
But you know, I'm going to throw it out there.
Number four.
Something my wife is a very big fan of.
Maybe you want to take in a wine tasting.
I'm not a big wine person.
It all tastes like sour grapes to me.
But if you're both wine tasting people, they, I know locally here at Johnny Carinos.
Once a month, they do a big deal.
It's like a four-course meal with a wine tasting.
From right around 25 bucks.
It's not a bad deal.
Number three.
And they don't have these everywhere in the country.
So I have to explain what this is.
Something like the Great Wolf Lodge.
This is a place where you go.
It's a hotel.
There's one out in Great Fine.
And you can get a room that has like a play for it.
It's got a water park inside of it.
There's one inside and one outside.
Something that you can do to just kind of embrace the kid and you.
Maybe if you live in the central Florida area.
Hit Disney for a day.
Six fights not so much.
Disney yes.
Number two.
