Oh yeah, it is 705 on the east coast. It is 405 on the west coast. I'm going to adjust
my microphone so I'm not slouching because my mother would kill me. It is the 24th of February
in the year of our Lord 2019. It is season 9, episode 31, 478 times. This voice and or this
face has welcomed you to the clubhouse podcast. We're so happy that you're here, whether you're
checking us live on the vocal now at vokal now dot com on the web. Make sure you download
the app and bookmark it in your browser or whether you're checking us out on the archive.
We don't care how you listen and or watch. We're just glad you do. My name is Rob. I am the executive
producer of the clubhouse podcast and I'm wearing this shirt because I'm formal, but I'm
here to party. Let's go around the dais to because we are skating a full strength tonight,
kids. To my left is my co-host and a man who is dressed warmly enough for everybody in
the room. He is Chad. Welcome, sir. I'm just wearing gear from an Oscar nominated film.
I just made sense to me. Next to him. I was not prepared for that. I apologize. Next
to him is a guy that was thought he was prepared for the Oscars, but then I realized he was talking
about Oscar from Sesame Street. Alex is here. What's going on, brother? Well, crouches
kind of my thing and makes me think before full strength. Now, will it be done or I in
the penalty box first? It will probably be both of you. It will be a two. It'll be a fight.
Next to him is the lady of the house and the person in the room with the newest ink of
anybody in the room. She is Jen Rome. Welcome, friend. Hello, everyone. I did. I got my semi-colon
piece, but you can't see because it's pink. You can't see it a little bit there. I saw
a little bit of camera. And we're going to talk more about that here in just a minute. We
got a lot of stuff to plug this week. Rounding out the dais is the official fact checker
of this show and a man that pledges to you that he will not trip over anything this week.
You may know him as Igboonoo, but his mom and even Don Ford. I'm going to call him Don Ford.
What's going on, brother? To the people out there. I'm going to make a pledge. I will do
my ding-dust not to trip over anything this week. And I'll do a test program later.
I got a question for Chad. You said Oscar nominated film that's from, oh, is that the
John's thing? Or what's that? Yes. Okay. I thought the Amity Island gave it. Nice
to be done, Don. I just make it sure because I didn't read the, I can't see the amity
from over here. Excuse me for asking. Brody. Okay. What's the, oh, that's your 75. Was
that released? Why did I think everybody? No, no, to be fair, I have a spoon. So I don't
feed him to be fair. He's asking a question. I am not even going to fault him for that.
And I didn't know which one without seeing it because we only see the side of Chad
not the front of Chad. So I got to give a little. You didn't see him out front before
the show. Okay. Fair enough. What was actually nominated for? That's picture, my friend.
What else? The only thing that didn't get nominated for was director. That was the big
stink that you know. He was nominated. He lost. Yeah. No, no, he didn't get it. I'm
going to fact check. He was nominated for best director. I know I got nominated for best
picture. I didn't think you got nominated for best director. Not nominated for best catering.
No longer a category. It is Oscar day. And go come at me Oscars. I'm saying it. Oscars,
Oscars, Oscars, Oscars, Oscars. Come at me. Well, well, what? So we're nominated. I'm wrong.
Okay. So Chad was right. Okay. So we're going to change the order that we're doing everything
in tonight because it is Oscar Sunday. And as is our tradition on this show, we're going
to do our Oscar picks. Okay. Real fast. If John was Oscar winner for best sound, Oscar
winner for best film editing, uh, winner for best music original. And then let's see nominated
for best picture. And then that was it for the Oscars. It did not win best picture. No,
it did not. No, no, it didn't have to director like yourself. Right. No, no, we got that.
We covered. Yeah. Yeah. But there's only like five on there that they got. So it's only
five. Oh, only five. Why even show up? That's four. Five more than I have. I saw like a
Ben Hurd, though, where it had like everything. Yeah. But like Ben Hurd, there was like nine
movies that came out back then in a year. By the 70s, it was a little bit deeper of a field
to deal with. But we aren't talking about that because we are going to do our Oscar picks
tonight. We're going to start the show with movie talk show so we can make sure we get
this done. So that way, by the time the show airs, nobody has an unfair advantage here.
If you're just joining us for the first time, we've done these picks. Here's how it works.
We're going to go through every category. And unlike other shows that go back and forth,
we're actually going to talk about all of them on air. You're not going to have to do
anything on a commercial break with us. Here's how it works. You have to make two picks.
One, who you think should win. Two, who you think will win. Now, if you pick the same for
both, we call that the double down and you will get an extra point if it happens. So you
get a point for each one of the two. If you pick the same thing for both and it wins,
you get three. Now, I will say, unlike the pay-per-views, we're not doing risk reward. You're
not going to lose points this time because that's just too much math for me to do. I'm barely
keeping up with the math that we have intact, which is my fault, totally my fault. So I have
got the official from oscar.com ballot available to me. Let me get to it here. And we're going
to go through just and the order from the ballot. So we're not going to like bury the lead
or anything. And I will not be writing this down. I'm going to do it when I listen back
because we've got a show to do on the paper. WWE paper is a little easier because there's
like six matches. This is like 140 awards. It's not as bad as the Grammys, but we're getting
close. So we will start and we're just going to go right around the table. Just normal pay-per-view
rules. So the next person in line will start each one. Chad, we will start with you for
actor in a leading role. Here are your nominees. Christian Bale for Vice, Bradley Cooper for
a star is born, Willem Defoe for at Eternity's Gate, Remy Malik for Bohemian Rhapsody, and
Vigo Mortensen for Green Book. Who should win? Who will win? Remy Malik. And I say it that
way because I'm doubling your doubling down on that. All right. Actually, that should
be the shenanigans thing, shouldn't it? Chad is doubling down on Remy Malik. Alex,
I will also be doubling down on Remy. All right. Genroom. Should be Remy. OK. Bradley Will.
All right. Don. I'm going to be honest. I'm not just going to do the Remy Malik because
I think he's going to win and try to do the two points. Remy will win, but who should
win is Christian Bale with Vice. You said that before. You said that before. So this
is not a close one, too, because I love Remy. I mean, Remy wasn't credible, but after
seeing Vice, it was just barely now. I'm talking barely the edge because they were both
that good to our show. That's what I said. I'm done. OK. So who will win? I agree that
it will be Remy Malik for Bohemian Rhapsody, who should win. I am saying Vigo Mortensen
for Green Book. That's very. I'm telling you this film. Yeah. You've been
braving about green. Yeah. After if you haven't seen it yet, I think I've seen all
but two of the best picture nominees, maybe one actor in a supporting role.
Marshal Ali for Green Book, Adam Driver for Black Clansman, Sam Elliott for a star is born,
Richard E Grant for, can you ever forgive me? Sam Rockwell for Vice Alex. This is going
to be one where I feel like I'm going to take at least half of an L. Okay. Maharshala
Ali will win, but the most unpopular pick of this, I think Adam Driver should. So you
think Marshal Ali will win, Adam Driver should. Yes. All right. General. I think that Sam
Elliott will win and Sam Rockwell should win. All right. Going with the Sam tandem.
I'm kind of partial to that name. Russ is tuned in. What's going on brother? Good to
see it. Don you're up. Okay. Best supporting who's going to win is Ali, who should win.
I'm going to say because I really liked him in this Adam Driver by Clansman. I'm just
saying should. I, you know, that's my thing. So you're basically agreeing with Alex if
I'm going to do. Yeah. All right. All right. Chad doubling down on Ali. I, I agree that
Marshal Ali should win. And I think he will. I'm going to double. Chad and I are both
going to double down on Ali. I just can't as much as I love Sam Elliott. He was in a
star is born less time and it took me to say the sentence. So I can't in good conscience
put him as an as an Oscar nominee in this category. I know general picked it. I, I just
can't for that reason. Did we get a comparison between when Ali did win having the least
amount of screen time ever for a supporting actor? See that? I don't know the same.
I mean, that would set a precedent. I just still. Yeah. I didn't see enough of him
in this to convince me. Well, I remember that I said that he will not that he should.
Right. But no, but you're right. Because of what because it is star is born. That's
why I'm saying he will. And we did get that parody poster today of Mickey James and
Elias. The superstar is born. Alex and that to me. All right. Actress in a leading role.
Yeah, Lisa, appreciate for Roma. Go on close for the wife. Olivia Coleman for the favorite
lady Gaga for a star is born. Melissa McCarthy. Can you ever forgive me? And no nomination.
Why did I just lose her name?
Merle Street. No, Merle Street nomination. Yeah, it's like California law. Oh, my God.
That was in accordance with California state law, which apparently we're in violation of
now. Yeah, General. You're up. I'm saying that lady Gaga will again, the whole star is
born. Right. I want it to be glint close. Okay. And she won the independent spirit award
last night and brought her dog on stage with her. From what I'm hearing, she just did such
an amazing job. It's one of those films I want to see, but haven't gotten to yet.
They're enough. Don. Go ahead and close for both. Don is doubling down on the wife. Yeah.
Chad, same. Alex, make it three. I am going to say that lady Gaga wins this.
I think it's the only award they're going to win in the evening. Maybe one more,
but who should win is Olivia Coleman in the favorite.
She was absolutely phenomenal in this. My thing is, I think close is going to get it
because once she's been nominated, so time's never got it. That's all right. Your logic is your
logic. Yeah. Actress in the supporting role. Amy Adams for vice, Mariana Day Tavira for Roma,
Regina King for if Beale Street could talk Emma Stone and Rachel vice both for the favorite.
Don, you're up. Who's going to win? I'll say the Marina Del Tavira for Roma. Yeah.
And then who should win? The favorite. I need to give enough. Amy Adams and
then we saw Beale Street. Something to say, Roma, because I did. You're doubled down. Yeah,
double down. Chad, I'm going to double down on Regina King. Oh, a bold pick. Not that bold,
because I agree with them. And again, from all the buzz from Roma, I'm saying that Marina will
and Amy Adams should. I think that Emma Stone and Rachel vice cancel each other out. I do too.
I thought my thing was I don't know and I enjoy the work of Emma Stone. I truly do. I just don't
know that that was an Oscar worthy performance because there was there wasn't there wasn't an
accent. There wasn't anything out of the normal for Emma Stone. Rachel vice is always great,
but again, I think they cancel each other out. I am going to say Marina Del Tavira for Roma
and I'm going to double down on it just by default. See, I'm surprised. Blunt never got nominated.
That's what surprises me, too. But what was that once she was in?
What about a quiet place? Or Mary Poppins. Yeah, hold on. No, Mary Poppins returns.
All right, best animated feature. Incredibles to Isle of Dogs, Mirai, Ralph breaks the internet
Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse chat. We are back around to you. I don't even think this is
going to be a conversation. You have to say it. We have it on wax. Spider-Verse twice. Alex.
I got to agree with Chad.
General. I'm saying that Incredibles to will because power of Disney. Right. And that it should be
into the Spider-Verse. All right, Don. Incredibles two doubling down.
I am doubling down on Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse.
But who should win even though I'm doubling down, I really feel that Isle of Dogs should get
something out of this because that movie was phenomenal. I did. It was great. I just did.
Yeah. So good. Cinematography. Cold War. This was an Amazon films film. The favorite never
look away. Roma and a star is born. Alex. I'm sorry. Could you say the category again?
Cinematography. Oh, it's Roma all the way.
General. Doubled on Roma.
Don. I'm going to go with them too. Roma. Black and white. Chad. Clean sweep. If you agree.
And Don, I will just tell you one thing. Roma is not the only film in this category that was shot in
black and white. Cold War was also. I know, but I thought it did. It doesn't set it apart from
everybody. I know I wasn't, but I thought how they did it with the black and white in that.
Black and white always looks better to me. Always does. But I just, I wanted to make sure we were
clear. Yeah. Yeah. I wasn't saying it was the only ones. Just I thought they did good with the
black and white. But what I heard, what I let me just say what I heard versus maybe what you said,
what you heard was what I heard was Roma because it's in black and white. Well, there's another one.
That's why I say there's another one in that category that qualifies her as well. costume design.
The ballad of Buster Scruggs. Black Panther. The favorite Mary Poppins returns. Mary Queen of
Scots. Gen. Rome. I've got that Mary Queen of Scots will win. I want it to be Black Panther. I'd
love to see some of our action films that many of us love around here. Get some of the acknowledgement
they deserve for being a real movie. Very nicely done. Don. I'm going to do the exact opposite. I
thought those dresses and Mary Queen of Scots were incredible. I think that's who should win. But I
think they're going to have to give something to Black Panther to make the, you know, the universe happy.
Okay. Chad, I'm doubling down on Black Panther because the costume design. All those
diverse cultures and just I think it's shoe in Alex. Now's where we get into the categories where
it gets fun because we disagree. I think they're going to give, I think this is the one that goes to
the favorite. Okay. But I really would agree with Gen. Rome that I'd like to see Black Panther.
There was a lot that went into that. So the favorite will Black Panther should. Yes, sir. I am actually
doubling down on Mary Queen of Scots. The costume design in this, especially when it comes to
Margot Robbie. And Don and I talked about this very extensively because one of the things that Don
looks for in a film is historic accuracy. It's one thing she's been known for for the now almost
six years we've been doing this as reviewers. Mary Queen of Scots was just some of the costumes,
especially as you're getting closer to the end. So intricate. So well done. Just nothing sure
to breath taking. All right. Best director. We have, but why didn't they put the director's name on
this thing? Black Clansman Cold War, the favorite Roma vice. And I believe Don, we are to you.
Okay. Who should win? Because it was the highest on my list on my top 10. Adam McCabe for vice.
Well, he won't win. I'm going to say for best director. They're talking spiky possibly,
but I think it's going to go to Roma. I'll find some of Ozacara. Who's going to win? Yeah.
Chat. Yeah. I'm doubling down on Roma. Alex. I think it's going to go to Roma,
but I feel like Spike Lee should get it. Okay. So Black Clansman should. Okay.
General. I had actually written down the director's names rather than the films. That's fine.
I had Alfonso Curran Will. Okay. And of course Spike Lee for Black Clansman should.
I agree with that sentiment. Quora Will will win for this. I really believe that. I said it when
we saw Black Clansman, it's the best film Spike's done since Malcolm X. It absolutely blew me away.
I would love for him to win. I just think that this is going to be for the most part.
And I mean, underline that for the most part, this will be Alfonso Cuarones night.
Absolutely. Yeah. And at the same time, this is a powerful piece. It'd be really great if Spike could.
Yes. But I understand what he's up against. And sometimes what you're up against is you're
undoing. Yeah. And I mean, if you have not seen Black Clansman, you need to. It's phenomenal.
Oh, yeah.
Documentary feature. Free Solo, which is not about Han and Carbonite.
Hale County this morning this evening, minding the gap of fathers and sons and RBG.
Don, no, we're up to you, Chad.
Free Solo will RBG should. Okay. Alex, cosine with Chad. All right. General.
I doubled on free solo.
Don, who will win this free solo? Because it serves it. But who should win? Won't you be my neighbor?
I'm putting that in. You're taking the L on that. Yes, I am. I'm being on who should. Yeah.
I am totally okay with this. I am.
I agree. No, I agree with you fully.
Allheartedly. The fact that that film is not on this list is a travesty of American history.
Did you know why? I do not. Because so many people thought that it was a shoe and that hardly anyone voted for it.
Because they figured everybody else was going to vote it in. So they voted for lesser films.
That is flawed logic. It really is. When I read that, I'm like, that was your logic on that.
And to those people, I say, get up.
All right. So let's see. Everybody got their picks, right?
I am actually going to agree with free solo will RBG should.
Because didn't free solo even get an IMAX release there, Torch?
Yeah, I know they're doing it on history. It's incredible. I loved it. I knew the story before the
even released the film, but of the guy, but watching that was just an incredible story.
Documentary short subject. Black sheep, endgame, lifeboat, a night at the garden,
or period end of sentence. That's actually the name of it. It's not I just trust me. Alex.
Period end of sentence will win. Okay. But my heart has to say that a night at the garden should.
All right. General. I'm going to match with Alex. Okay. Don.
I'm going to be different because I didn't really see any of these. So I'm going to say
black sheep for the win because it's going to be the black sheep. And then lifeboat because I need one
for just just remember Don. Yeah. They don't have to know that. Just be confident. Okay.
Okay. Because sometimes you don't have to see films you can say something going with chat.
I concur with Alex. I am going to say night at the garden should.
But I'm going to say endgame wins just because that's the name of the new adventures movie. I knew you could go there film editing.
Black clansman, bohemian, rap city, the favorite green book or vice,
general. We are to you, my friend. I've got that the favorite will. Okay. And bohemian should. All right. Don.
Let's see who should win on editing. Actually, I'm going to say believe it or not,
vice because how they went back and forth and they're very good there. Who will win?
I think those give something to just spike. So for his film, I'll see black clansman chat. I'm
doubling down on rap city. Alex, I will double down on vice. I'm going to say that bohemian
rap city will black clansman should. And the reason I'm saying that is the final sequence of bohemian
rap city alone. Just that makes it a real strong contender. Yeah. And you'll always be always
remember the last thing you see. And that last 20 minutes, it is called the recency effect for a
reason. Yes. And if you get the blue ray, it does have the entire performance of the included the
two songs that were not included. Yep. Watched it like four times. No. Let's see foreign language film.
Gee. Let me. Carpainum cold war. Never look away. Roma and shoplifters. I believe Don, we are to you.
Roma double down. Chat, you kind of have to. Alex.
Gen Rome. I've got that Roma will, but I wanted it to be shoplifters.
That's not a double down. I just wanted to hit the button. I will say that Roma will because this
is the one film category that it will win. What should win? I agree with you shoplifters.
Strong film from Asia. All the buzz in the second half of 2018. I know a lot of our friends in the
credit community were like, if this doesn't get an Oscar nomination, there's something wrong. So
make up and hairstyling. You got a one in three shot here, kids. Somebody's getting left out in
the cold. Border, Mary Queen of Scots, vice. This ought to be interesting. Chat, vice, no
brainer. Double down. Yeah. What category is this? This is makeup and hairstyle. Okay. Double
down on vice. Gen Rome. Double down on Mary Queen of Scots. Don. Order the three categories again.
I mean, it's not an nomination. Border, Mary Queen of Scots and vice.
I got to go, um, I'm going to say, because vice, they did so good with bail.
I'm going to say they should win, but I think it's going to be Mary Queen of Scots does win.
I am doubling down on Mary Queen of Scots. Again, Margot Robbie alone, especially in the sequence
where she catches, was it measles or chicken pox or smallpox, whatever it was.
That whole section of the film alone totally worked. That's why I'm doubling down. I mean,
I have no doubt that I mean, some of the stuff I've seen from vice, look amazing. That's Christian
bail. Right. He looks like Cheney. Right. But Christian bail is also so method part of that's him
because of what he's willing to do. That's basically wrecked his body for the rest of his life.
That's that's why the advice to the people listening is always tell her you look like Christian
bail. Just don't clarify which one. No, tell him. Don't tell. I'm not telling her that she looks like
Christian bail. That you look like Christian. Tell her she looks. Tell her that's what you said. Tell
her you tell her she looks like Christian bail. Okay. There you go. Tell her she looks like
ruined the bit with exact. No, tell her she looks like Shirley's Theron and not which one. All right,
original score. Black Panther, Black Clansman, if Beale Street could talk Isle of Dogs,
Mary Poppins return. Mary Poppins returns. Alex, we are to you.
I think it goes to if Beale Street could talk. Okay. And you know, the other ones I liked aren't
really score. So I don't feel like I could pick anything else. So it's a double down
against my better judgment. All right, if that's how I live your life. I doubled on Black Panther.
And that is a score. There is a score, sir. Oh, no, I'm not saying there isn't, but what I'm
saying is what I remember is a score. It's the music. Don, I'm going to do a gendered Black Panther
double. Jeff, Beale Street, Will, Black Panther should. I'm doubling down on Black Panther.
Just because every piece of music lyrics are not in that film fit perfectly, which is why you
didn't notice it because it fits so well. That's a valid point. Best original song. All the stars
from Black Panther, which Kendrick Lamar will not be performing tonight. He is overseas on tour.
I'll fight RBG. The place where the or last things go from Mary Poppins returns. Shallow from a
star is born. When a cowboy trades his spurs for wings, but from the ballot of Buster Scruggs,
for those of you getting ready to watch the show, Queen and Adam Lambert are opening the show tonight.
So be aware of that. General, I believe we're to you, my friend. We are. I'm doubling down on
Shallow a star is born. The song I've heard, the song I liked, I haven't seen the movie, but you know,
your life is better because of that. Trust me, but you haven't seen it. That's because I listen
and watch our show, even when I'm not present. See, that's my girl. I listen to what my co taking care
of business. People say done who should win. I'm going to go with the battle of the Buster Scruggs
because I like that. That song is great. That movie is phenomenal. Yeah, I liked it. I watch
because of your review, by the way. Thank you very much. Now, who's going to win is your favorite
movie of the year? Shallow. Chad doubling down on Shallow. Alex. Same as Chad.
And that'll be for the five of us. Shallow's got too much momentum. Yeah, it just does. I mean,
when Kelly Clarkson goes viral by covering it in a concert, I mean, yeah, I mean, what are the,
this is the one that this and Lady Gaga, that's the two they get tonight for me.
I mean, you can have a bad movie with good music. I agree. That is valid.
I heard Fady Bridge. You can also have a good movie with that. You did that so hard to put the
camera out of focus. You can also have a good movie with bad music. So, all right, I'm actually
going to hold on to best picture because that's the big one. We'll come back to that production
design. Black Panther, the favorite first man. Mary Poppins returns and Roma Don, we are to you.
Production design. Who should win is I'm going to go with first man. Okay, great, great,
great job on that film. I agree with you. Yeah, he was going to win Black Panther.
We have to give something to it. Chad, I'll double down on Black Panther.
Alex, I'm saying Black Panther should win. Okay, but the favorite will. All right,
general. I wanted to say that. I'm saying Black Panther should and Roma will.
I am going to say, oh man, that's not nominated. I know.
My thing is I've caught between three films of the five.
I think Black Panther will win just because there's not a piece of that film that just didn't,
again, with, well, along with the score, it looked amazing, but who should win and I'm just going
to pick one at random here. Chad, tell me, Otter, even. I, what the heck? Otter, even, odd.
Okay, then I'm going to have to go with first man. Who's you with that of the favorite?
Yeah, because the favorite has some great sets, but I agree with you. First man, really hit that.
I can't, because most of that was CGI with Black Panther. But even the war sequences at the end,
it just looked amazing. The set design of when they were in the base, just unbelievable animated short
film. God, this is an overanimal behavior. Boop. Late afternoon, one small step and weekends. Chad,
that would be bow. And we're doubling down on that. Okay, it just looks like boo from you.
Don't remember that one. It's the one where the mother makes the dumpling and raises it as a child.
The Pixar. I don't think I saw that. Was that on Incredibles, too? Yeah, I didn't see it.
Remember, I didn't get to go to Incredibles. Oh, okay, okay.
Yeah, but I didn't say I didn't see it. That's why I didn't stick out of my mind. It's wonderful.
It's, it's absolutely wonderful. Double down on bow.
General. Make it a three for.
Clean sweep. Trust us. Just because, just because Pixar, if I'm going to bet against them on
Incredibles, too, I'll get a bet on them without you. When you see this thing, you will cry like oh,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Live action short film, detainment,
fove, not favora, margarit, mother, and skin, all one word titles. And I believe
that's, is it Alex? All right, because I'm out of my order now. So
well, you can't have a long title on a short film. So I'm going to double down on margarit.
All right, general.
I'm going to say skin should and margarit will. All right, Don, I get doubled down on detainment.
Chad, I'll double that on the skin because a short film should have a short title.
I agree with Don. Detainment, double down. Sound editing is next up. Black Panther,
Bohemian Rhapsody, first man, Rome, I'm sorry, I'm on the wrong category. They're just, they're almost
exactly alike. Sound editing, Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, first man, a quiet place and Roma,
general. I'm going to say that first man will. It's going to be its only win and Bohemian should.
Don Bohemian should and I agree with Jen on this one. Okay, Chad. Bohemian should a quiet
place will because that's all about the audio and that. All right, Alex and it confirmed this is
the editing not mixing. Correct. Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb based on something that I was
taught about the editing with the various sounds. It should be a quiet place. First man will win.
Hold on to that. I agree with Jen Roman Don. Actually, no, I'm going back on that. Cancel that.
Bohemian should, I agree with Chad, that a quiet place will. Because again, in that film, it's all about
that balance. Now sound mixing. Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, first man, Roma, a star is born.
Chad, are we back around to you? Are we already? I think we're ready. Double on Bohemian.
Chad, likewise.
Alex, Jen Roman.
Bohemian should, but Roma will. Oh, I am saying Bohemian should, but first man will.
Seeing this in a high premium format like we did or like I did because I think I was the only one
at that particular screening. That when it was rattling you, you know, dear God man. Just like I
give you a sound on a star is born at first. Oh, they're opening. 10 minutes and that. I'm
telling you, have you seen First Man yet? Well, I saw Bohemian and Dolby Cinema and the live
18 will. But I'm telling you, with a decent home theater system, you can use the opening five minutes
of First Man as a demo. Okay. Okay. I've got it at home, so but I haven't watched it yet.
Oh, let's see. We are up to visual effects. Oh boy.
According to California State Law, Avengers Infinity War, and Solo, a Star Wars story.
Christopher Robin, First Man, and Ready Player One. Chad, we are to you. Oh God.
First one's tough. Yeah, like I want to say something like First Man probably will,
but I sure would like to see Ready Player One. Get it. Alex.
Avengers will. Okay. Solo should. Oh, wow. Double down in Disney style.
I'm sorry. General, please don't ever do that again. You're welcome, America. And that was on camera.
I'm sorry. I did just yeah. I had a really hard time with this one because I've got two that I want,
and I think one of them will. So I'm going to say that Christopher Robin will because there's such a
tug with Winnie the Pooh being historical for so many of us, and they did an amazing job bringing
Winnie the Pooh to life. All right. Fair enough. But because I'm all about the wookie, Solo should.
I'm not even going to do that. I'm sorry. Do not do the wookie. No, no, no, no. I was going to
don't don't don't do limb biscuit or yeah, that's where I was going. And I'm not going to do that.
Don't I agree with Chad. Ready Ready Player should one should do it, but won't get it, but they'll
give it to First Man. Even though I think even like Avengers deserves it more than that, they'll
give it to First Man. I am actually doubling down on Avengers Infinity War only. I was the one
screaming about Ready Player One and didn't pick it at all. Yeah. I just you know how I feel about
Ready Player One. Adapted screenplay. We're down to the final three. The ballot of Buster Scruggs,
Black Clansman. Can you ever forgive me if Beale Street could talk and a star is born. Alex,
I think this is your one double down on Black Clansman. Okay. I I want it to be Clansman.
It's going to be star is born. Okay. Don, who should win? I'm going to go with ballot because I really
liked that one. Uh, out of Buster Scruggs. Yeah. Okay. But he's going to win. I think they'll give it
to Beale. Okay. Chad. Right there with you, Alex. Double down on Clansman.
That sounds really bad when you say it like that. Yeah. It does. I will not say that and agree with
what you guys said. Although, you know, there is some credence to what Don said. They had to adapt
five stories for Buster Scruggs and took them what two years. Just to write it. Original screenplay.
The favorite first reformed the only nomination for that film. Green Book, Roma, and vice,
Gen Rome. I want it to be Green Book. It will be Roma. Don, Roma is going to win. Um,
vice should, and I think I should get it, but Roma is going to win. Chad, I'm going to double that
on Green Book. Alex, it should be Green Book. I'm going to say the favorite will. I am going to
agree with Gen Rome. It should be Green Book, but it will be Roma. Now, let's get to best picture.
And these are in alphabetical order. Black Panther, Black Clansman, Bohemian Rhapsody,
the favorite Green Book, Roma, a star is born and vice. I believe Don, we are to you. Yeah. Um,
I'm still saying won't you be my neighbor should get it, but out of the nine, vice should
should win it though. Um, but who's going to win it? I know it's coming. Green Book's going to
win it. It's easily going to be that star is born or it's going to be Black Panther or those three.
You got to pick one. I said, I said, if you listen to my exact wording, I said Green Book's
going to win it. But then you also said, but this is all, this is also, this is also. Yeah.
You pick, but I said Green Book, Green Book is the one. I want us to be clear. Yes. Yes. Clear.
He's king the L on should. Right. Yeah. Green Book will. Chad, Roma will Bohemian should. All right.
Alex, uh, you know what? I'm going to go with Roma will. Okay. My number one movie of last year,
Black Panther should. Okay. General. Black clansman should. And I'm actually going to make it
that Roma will. I am doubling down on Green Book. Roma will not win this. Roma will win best foreign
film. I will give it that, but I just don't I can't put myself in a world where it wins best foreign
and best film. I can't do it. I feel this is one of those where your principles are getting in the
way. No. Green book. Green book. Remember, Green Book won the Golden Globe. No,
didn't remember that. Yep. But with that, how did it end up in both categories? If they're best
that's what I'm saying. I know, but I'm just saying, I'm saying with that with your logic of
you should only be able to get one of them. How did it get? Not how was it eligible to be
nominated? Because I'm not on the committee. I don't get that. I don't get that at all. No. Okay.
That makes no sense to me. Right. And what I'm saying is it doesn't make sense to me.
That's why I'm trying to discuss this is how was it feasible for them to be up for best picture
if they're also up. I don't know how that works to be honest with you. How much fun with the
chaos. Be if they won best picture and lost foreign. Or vice versa, or vice versa. No, no.
Yeah. Well, I think all that. Guys, guys, guys, guys done. On the best picture, any film can be
be nominated for Best Picture, it doesn't matter.
But Rommel also meets the critique
because it is a four minute rule.
And that's like saying, well,
how can, that's like the use in logical,
how can we, you know, nominated for Best Costume
in Best Picture at the same time?
It's some films right now.
No, not exactly.
Some films are, it meets the critique of both.
Any film can be Best Film.
But let me give you the other side of that coin
because I was talking about this very subject
of the friend of ours who's in the, the, the, the, uh,
the critic core.
And the discussion was reverse it.
It's the Italian Oscars.
An American film would not be eligible
for the Italian Oscar.
So by that same logic, a film that was done,
submitted by the company of Mexico,
being submitted for our Best Picture,
it doesn't, it doesn't work both ways.
Really? So this is the first foreign language film
to ever be nominated for Best Picture.
I wouldn't say foreign language
because life is beautiful, one it.
I would say this, and it's not the first time
that a film has been nominated in both categories
because again, life is beautiful.
It was an Italian film.
I just don't think, in my personal opinion,
I don't think you should be eligible for both.
But that's, I don't write the rules.
Yeah.
Because I thought that's why they created a category
for Best Animated Feature because people pitched a fit
whenever a beauty in the beast got nominated for Best Picture
and they're like, no, that needs its own category.
To me, this is the same kind of thing.
Well, see, I think that's weird.
I do too.
It's still an American film.
It is an American film.
Yeah.
It's the same kind of thing.
Well, if there's an emanated film,
it's so good that any film could be nominated
for Best Picture when you think about it.
No, I agree with you.
Those are the rules.
I just don't know that because it's not universal.
Right.
Yeah.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Yeah, I see both.
I don't have a problem with being nominated.
You know, if that's the case
and let's just put them all in Best Picture.
Everybody's nominated for Best Picture.
There's no Best Foreign Film.
There's no Best Animated Feature.
It's all film.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Or you do it like the Golden Globes do it.
Musical comedy, drama, done.
And just don't nominate the Martian
as Best Musical or Comedy.
I'm just saying.
So if you think that thing,
then Roma wants to be nominated for Best Picture.
Let's take it out of the Best Foreign then.
But what I'm saying is if we eliminate Best Foreign,
then there is no Best Foreign for them to be it.
I am.
That's what I'm saying.
If you want to do it that way,
then let's just close it up.
Everybody's nominated for Best Picture.
Here we go.
But I have a good question on this one though.
Because they're going to keep the foreign film
because obviously the history with it,
there always is going to be a Best Picture.
Would you prefer it that they would only be eligible
to submit themselves for one of those two?
Yes, that's what I wanted to clear.
I'm good with that.
I would be okay with that as a compromise.
You cannot submit for both.
You can submit for one or the other.
Because then what you're also doing
is there might be another amazing film
from the country of Mexico
that's not getting the recognition it deserves
because Netflix wants to win the dog on thing.
And then not only be the first Emmy to ever get
from a streaming service,
but now to be the first Oscar.
Yeah.
In which case maybe Roma takes the place of another film
that did this called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Did they take their place?
That is a good question.
Yeah.
Because that's an amazing film as well.
Oh, I agree.
I love it when we have healthy discussion.
I was trying to see if I could.
That's good radio.
I could try to see if I could find something on the net.
And I did find that on of course it's Wikipedia
so whatever value you want to put to Wiki.
Unlike other Academy Awards,
the Best Foreign Film Language Award
is not presented to a specific individual.
It is accepted by the winning film director
but is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole.
Which then furthers the argument
of you can submit for one or the other
because you should be deep enough
that you've got something else you can submit for that too.
Because again, it also gives publicity
to films from your country
that may not get it otherwise.
And it says as of 2014,
the Academy changed its rules
so that the name of the director
is etched onto the Oscar statue
at in addition to the film's country
and the director gets to keep it.
So as of 2014, the director at least gets some acknowledgement.
That's one of the best content we've done in the weeks.
I'm not going to lie.
It's probably not going to lie.
Probably got a lot of content you've done in the week.
All right, so let's do some box office numbers
from our friends at box office Mojo.
The aforementioned green book drops out of the top 10
this week from 10 to 11, $2 million, $15 weeks,
almost $70 million, $23 million budget.
I love this movie so much.
Glass drops from 8 to 12,
just about 1.75 million, six weeks,
107 million, $107 million on a $20 million budget.
The prodigy drops from nine to 13 this week.
No, no, no.
1.2 million dollars, three weeks,
13 and a half million dollars on a $6 million budget.
It surprises me that this movie,
it didn't make more money
because these little, low budget horror films
ended too really well.
It wasn't much, it wasn't horror,
but it wasn't like a, it was more of a thrill.
Yeah, yeah, I still liked it.
Run the race,
debuts in 10th place this week, $2.2 million.
I don't have a budget on that.
The upside drops from seven to nine, $3.2 million,
seven weeks, just under $100 million.
It has tripled its budget now.
Cold pursuit.
I have a particular set of skills on a snowmobile.
Drops from the Sims 6.
I'm sorry, I don't care, I'm standing by that.
Drops from six to eight, $3.3 million,
$27.1 million, Don saw this,
he's been he enjoyed it very much.
Yeah, I did like it.
Happy death day to you, drops from five to seven this week,
just under another $5 million,
$2 weeks, $21.6 million on a $9 million budget.
No, no, no, no, drop.
That is a horror film, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I sure are a film for you.
Oh, yeah, definitely.
But yeah, it was, it was a comedy horror mix.
I thought it was a good mix of the two.
It's a horror space time continuum film, Chad.
I can't wait, I can't do that.
Don, don't enjoy it, you don't like it.
If you like Halloween, you would like it.
You love the comedy, isn't it?
You really would.
Okay.
I'll take your word.
Another movie that I give.
No, no, no, no.
What men want, want, drops from four to six this week.
I'm giving a note of that one as well.
$5.2 million, it's made $45 million in three weeks,
I'm a $20 million budget.
So do the Medea film.
Oh, that's this week, sir.
It's coming out this week, see,
you're jumping ahead of me now.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry.
I didn't think the first time it came out
with Mel Gibson, so.
And Helen Hunt, wasn't she the female lead in that?
The moon.
What men want, what women want?
I thought that was Helen Hunt.
Okay, there's only some kind of a database
of movies on the internet that tell us that.
If only the fact checker was checking the back.
What was the question?
I'll do it.
Just look up what women.
It is Helen Hunt, thank you very much.
Isn't it romantic?
Which I'm, I'm mildly intrigued by this film.
I am too, it looks like the wrong conversion
of enchanted.
Drops from three to five this week, $7.5 million.
It's made almost $34 million in two weeks.
Fighting with my family.
Take this for what you're paying for it
from the rankings standpoint
because it got very limited release two weeks ago.
Jump's from 40 to four this week.
Because it, it's now, to tell you how many more theaters
it's in, it's increased its theater count by 5,700%.
Gee.
This week.
It's in 2,700 theaters.
It made $8 million.
I have every intention of seeing this film.
I ended up double booking myself
and didn't get to screen this last week.
But I have every intention of seeing that
sometime hopefully this week.
A lead a battle angel, I'm sorry.
Oh, we missed one.
The Lego movie two, the second part.
Drops from two to three this week,
making $10 million.
This had a 52% drop over opening weekend.
Yeah, I was afraid of that.
It's made $60 million.
I'm sorry, it's made $83 million.
I don't have the budget on that.
A lot.
A lead a battle angel drops from one to two this week,
making $12 million, $61 million in two weeks.
It's still got $110 million to do
before it breaks even on it from a budget standpoint.
I like this film.
I enjoyed this film very much.
I don't care what the internet says.
Lego movie two, budget, $100 million.
It's gonna crawl across the finish line.
Winning the weekend as it should
and Don's very happy about this.
How to train your dragon, the hidden world,
$55.5 million.
$58 million total, $129 million a budget though.
It'll still win it.
I'll be okay.
Well, you're gonna have a lot of people this coming weekend
seeing some of the Oscar films
that are getting re-released on one theater.
So, you know, it's gonna be judged on a curve.
Well, one thing I want to put,
because I did put in it,
but didn't, did not end up in my written review,
is www.cobaspodcast.com.
That's awesome.
I see, I faked you out, so you didn't do it.
But, I, I originally put, but someone took out
that they ended this series right
like they did on 24 and Sons of Anarchy.
I'm publicly want that.
Half of that was in there, the other half wasn't.
I, but I have always said they've been in 24
and Sons of Anarchy.
I agree with 24 and Sons of Anarchy
that they ended them right in my personal opinion.
And when I say something compared to that, that's why.
Right, but, but, but editors note,
one of them is a film series,
the other two were very long running television series.
And, and it's two separate categories.
But still, something very,
but I think the impact was there regardless.
Okay, I disagree, but still.
I, they, they did that.
They ended it right.
I will say, no, I agree with you.
The, the, the courting scene was enjoyable,
which was in your review.
Thank you, yes, yes, you left that in.
But the good mix of comedy and relationships.
I mean, somebody times me and the fantastic
F4 looked at each other
and start talking relations and stuff.
It's a great film.
Ah, they, I was, I was happy.
And the fungal pops are already out.
Oh, really?
For what?
For all of them?
Is there a toothless?
Yeah, there's a toothless end.
There's the, the night flyer.
I have a light.
Light fury.
Light fury.
And her, and her eyes go in the dark too.
They have a glow in the dark.
For both of them, they have an eyes go in the dark
and one that doesn't.
I know that I included on mine.
Of course, that I want my own dragon.
And I do have a painting of my dog that's a dragon.
I have my, I have a dragon in my home.
You have toothless in your home.
I don't know.
No, see, retired now.
No, he's not retired.
He's still active.
OK, I'm talking from the movie business down there.
No, no, gosh, no, OK.
No, it's expensive to keep Robert Jen.
Right.
Come on.
I got to take 10% of something.
No, I, I was good.
I, my bar was really high coming in
and a third of way through us.
But then they, I, I was very, very happy.
All the fields in this movie, all of them.
Yeah, they did it right.
And Chad actually saw it on Friday.
I did.
He did.
I think you concur with the general consensus
in the room if I'm not mistaken.
I do.
Alex has something to say.
As a general question, if I didn't see the second one,
do I need to go back for that?
No.
No, really.
Because I don't recommend it.
I don't think it's required.
I don't remember much about the second one.
And I was fine.
Should we say spoiler?
Do you want any spoilers on this?
Just for the two years?
You can talk off air.
Yeah, off air.
There's a few characters that will cross over
that you don't have from the first,
but you can figure out quick enough.
Oh, all I have to say is Kristen Weigh, Jail Cell.
That's all I have to say.
One of the best scenes in the entire film.
OK, so we have a working title for Bond 25.
Really?
A very cool one.
Shatterhand.
OK.
Can I take this one?
No, because I haven't written down.
So I mean, hands.
Because that way, in case people didn't hear me say it,
and I tried to enunciate the best I could.
Do you know why?
Yeah, they're using this as a working title, sir.
Is that some sort of a shadow organization
or something with inspector or general?
Do you know why?
No.
Admitting default gets me buzzed.
On Jeffery, it does.
Don, do you know why?
Why are they calling it shatterhand?
Shatterhand.
Because his hand got cold and then it hit something.
It's a pleasure.
If you go back to you, you only live twice.
Wow.
That was Blowfeld's alias.
And you only live twice.
Oh.
Ernst Stavros Blowfeld, who was the head of specter.
OK.
And that film came out when?
74?
Don, double check it.
You only live twice.
You only live twice.
Oh, no, that was like the third Bond film.
Second or third?
So it would have been 65, 66.
That was still a second.
That was still on the Connery, right?
Yeah, that was a second.
Because it was, Dr. No, you only live twice.
No, maybe it's the third one.
Because it didn't for rush.
67, 67, didn't rush out of the glove come second.
And then Thunderball.
Would the diamonds are forever dropped then?
Diamonds are forever was in the 70s.
That was more diamonds are forever?
I thought it was.
I'm on top of the ham-fisted vocal of Shirley Bass.
It was iron-fisted vocal.
Same difference.
No, it really isn't.
Try to eat a ham sandwich and try to eat an iron sandwich
and then come and make this.
I know Russ, it's not called shatter hand,
because it'll be a hit.
Would the iron sandwich be made of liver?
He's like chicken.
And we are simons are forever was 71 in Sean Connery.
OK.
OK.
62, Dr. No, rush to love 63, Goldfinger 64,
Thunderball 65, only live twice, 67.
That was right before her majesty secret service.
Yeah, 69 diamonds and 71 live in the die of 73.
All right, OK, great.
And they set the release date for bond 25, April 8th of 2020.
So breaking the November release schedule that they've been on.
Captain Marvel, we are being sold now, has two credit scenes.
Be aware of that.
There are two of them.
And apparently Bloom House, because they don't have enough money,
they now want to do reboots of both Scream and Hellraiser.
Chad.
Hmm.
Scream was a product of its time.
I agree.
And they've already got a series on MTV.
So leave that alone.
Is it done?
I know it got two seasons.
And I know Fox is doing Screen Queens, which
is kind of the same kind of bit.
But Hellraiser, I don't know if we need a Hellraiser reboot.
I need a Hellraiser.
I don't, I don't think it's my Brian Johnson's dead on.
OK, needs a bit more accent.
Tom, what's up?
I don't, you know my love of that kind of stuff.
I hate it.
And it's exactly 24 episodes, two seasons on MTV's fact check.
So they didn't get a third, they did not get a third season.
Let me, I don't know if they've done a third yet, I'm looking.
OK.
Well, wait, what was it in 35 years of MTV?
Thank you for 18 years of music.
I don't think it got that many.
Yeah, I think you got maybe 15.
It's a thing that's going around on Facebook.
OK, yeah, they're going to do six episodes for the season three.
OK, fair enough.
They announced moving new releases in places you see moving new releases
this week, Chad spoiled it earlier.
So we're going to go ahead and do it now.
A Medea family funeral.
I am told this is the final Medea film.
It freaking better be.
I don't know, that one might be kind of entertaining.
You want to go to that together, Chad?
No.
OK, I would hit the note.
I would pay, I would pay money just to sit behind them during that.
You do realize those are just words.
Next, we're going to have a Medea zombie movie.
Medea's now a zombie like that too.
I'm game for that.
Greta, which Don will be seeing on Tuesday, I say, no, no, no, no.
Basically, the bit on this Chloe Grace Moretz finds a purse
on the subway, finds out who it belongs to,
to return to the lady who apparently does this as a bit
to trap people into her life.
This sounds like our friends that allied in Austin
were doing a promotion where they were leaving purses
around the city.
No.
And they're doing a content, a contest at the screening
where you can win a replica of the purse.
Doesn't this sound like unfriended to you?
No, that I would like, I would like that.
Don?
In a way, in a way.
It sounds like unfriended dark web.
Also, this week, a movie called Climax,
which is not a documentary about the girl group from the 80s.
Basically, this is a group of college students
that are in a dance of the screens in the middle of the day.
I don't have to see this.
Breaky.
That's on Tuesday in the middle of the day.
But they end up getting mistakenly drugged.
And basically, most of this film was done freeform.
They had a script, but the dance sequences and things
like that were all improvised.
This looks really interesting.
The one sheet is sick.
I'm telling you, this thing, it looks creepy, cool,
if that makes sense.
It does.
Speaking of creepy, a movie called The Whole in the Ground opens
this week.
Let me give you a quick synopsis.
Trying to escape her broken past.
Sarah O'Neill is building a new life on the fringes
of a backwood rural town.
Try to say that one five times fast.
That one, that one, that one, that one, that one.
With her young son, Chris, a terrifying encounter
with a mysterious neighbor shatters the her fragile security
throwing Sarah into a spiraling nightmare of paranoia
and mistrust.
As she tries to uncover the disturbing changes
in her little boy are connected to an ominous sinkhole
buried deep in the forest that borders their home.
So basically, this is like when Don saw the prodigy.
Pretty much.
Let's see, also a movie called Chaos Walking,
which was the story of my 20s.
Oh, they made a movie about my ex.
Mads, Michelson, and Tom Hollander in this.
Oh.
OK, I'm in a dystopian world where there are no women.
And all of it, I know.
This is 2020.
Huh.
Interesting.
Where there are no women and all living creatures
can hear each other's thoughts in a stream of images,
words, and sounds called noise.
Oh, that's right.
There's a documentary on Apollo 11 coming out this week.
That's going to get an IMAX release.
I talked to a couple of our friends in the the credit core
and they have seen it and said, it's amazing.
No narration.
It's kind of, it's one of those documentaries
where the stories told just by interviews and footage.
Apparently Walter Cronkite's presence is felt.
So I'm already in.
Another documentary this week called The Boy Who Harnessed
the Wind.
This looks really interesting.
I didn't get a chance to see it.
I'd like to.
A boy in Malawai, this is actually
a drama based on true story, helps
his village by building a wind turbine
after reading about them in a library book.
So he basically takes materials in his village
to make a wind turbine.
That's kind of like that.
They should not grow old.
The last one we talked about that Apollo.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, it's just off the interviews.
A chutelle edge of force also in the boy who
horns the wind.
Greatness.
And then a movie called We Die Young, which is no not
a lyric from Pat Benatar.
That is, we are young.
There's only one reason I put this in here.
And I'm going to tell you what it is in a minute.
Lucas, the 14 year old boy inducted into the gang life
in Washington, DC is determined that his 10 year old brother
won't follow the same path.
When an Afghanistan war veteran comes into the neighborhood
and opportunity arises.
And you know who's playing the Afghani war veteran
in Washington, DC?
He's played a veteran before.
Gary Sines.
In Street Fighter.
Oh, God.
John Claude Van Dam, baby.
So we're getting another movie with somebody
with a thick accent who's now quote unquote American.
Which, no, I love it.
And we're not going to mention it.
But I love his tostitos commercials.
Yes.
Don't get bent.
You mean Doritos?
No, those are tostitos.
I thought it was Doritos.
It's tostitos.
It is an edo.
I watch it every day on ESPN.
It doesn't make it a free toe or a cheeto commercial Alex.
DVD and Blu-Roy new releases in places you get DVD
and Blu-Roy new releases this week.
Ralph breaks the internet this week.
Pretty neat looking steelbook that Best Buy is doing for it.
Yes.
The 30th anniversary signature collection
of the Little Mermaid this week.
Mary Queen of Scots, the aforementioned.
And the possession of Hannah Grace.
No.
No.
No.
All right.
We are going to go ahead and do the rest of the show.
Like we normally do it.
We're not going to do NASCAR this week.
We're going to wait for NASCAR till next week.
Because next week we'll be in studio.
The following week is WWE Fastlane.
So we will not be in the studio that week.
Yes, baby.
I've been watching stuff with the Oscars.
And I want to give a shout out to Billy Porter.
He has a texito gown.
You've got Amy Polar and a black texito.
And you have Billy Porter where he has a coach or gown.
I can't ever say that word.
Couture.
Couture gown made.
So he's got his white texito.
And who is this person?
Billy Porter is a stage performer, pop singer and actor.
Did he not originate the role from...
He's got...
He's got...
Oh, is that who this is?
Yes.
He's got a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
I guarantee you it's Kiki Bout.
His album was The Soul of Richard Rogers.
So he studied at Carnegie Mellon University, California.
Okay.
Anyway, he's...
It's this gorgeous, like, a strapless black dress,
but he's got his white texito shirt and the black jacket on the top.
But I love how they did it for him.
It's very, very tastefully done.
It looks really cool.
And I think when you've got, you know,
the women that are showing up in Texas with without shirt,
and you've got him doing this tasteful job, kudos.
All right.
I know I won't look.
Did you guys see about this Girl Scout cookie thing this past week?
No.
There's a Girl Scout that took her...
I hope, yeah.
Yeah.
That's been going around.
Or the...
Which cookies were they?
Samoas.
Samoas.
Really?
I thought they were all something else.
But she called on Dust Samoas and had a picture of Jason Mo Moa on the box,
and she sold like 115 of them in two hours.
Hey, that's like seven outside the pod stores.
I don't play much more for it.
Some TV news, Netflix has renewed the haunting of Hill House for season two,
but this is actually going to be an anthology series.
Did not know that.
So they're going to do like their own American horror story type of thing?
Well, they're going to be covering different houses.
That's cool.
All right.
Cool.
All in Hills, I assume.
I believe it's called Blinmar is the next one.
It's called the haunting of Hill House.
I said that.
There.
Buzz.
Week.
Moving on.
The Walking Dead continues to disappoint.
It had an all-time low in viewers and ratings this past week.
I forgot it was back on.
I haven't watched an episode in two seasons.
Never watched an episode.
I'm so done with that show.
Thank you, much.
I mean, watch in the Fantastic Four.
They're now watching the Art Kelly documentary on Lifetime.
That's very interesting.
You have weird date nights.
Wow.
Wow.
You have to give him that.
You have to give him that.
That was funny.
Can I get crickets?
He has rendered Don speechless.
Please remember I am sitting in the middle.
I know.
Okay.
I know.
I am Switzerland.
You got to give him credit for that because that was sharp and it was on point.
But my wife was in on it.
Right.
But that doesn't make it better.
But you know what?
I bet your wife is laughing right now.
She's getting her hair done right now.
When she watches this, she will be laughing.
It's not a comment on faith.
It's a comment on the date.
That was funny.
Sci-fi has canceled night flyers after only one season.
Wasn't this a George R.R. Martin thing?
Is that?
Was that?
I believe he was the funding.
Yeah, he had something to do with it.
But they're not getting season two.
Netflix has also canceled friends from college after two seasons.
This was the show that Keegan Michael Key was in.
Before we come off the night flyers, I believe it was a situation much like Peter Jackson with the Halo movie where they thought he was going to be more involved.
Okay.
But it was more like, hey, we have this really talented guy.
But George R.R. Martin.
Yeah.
And Amazon.
And Charlotte is going to be very upset if this I haven't told her yet.
Amazon has canceled the man in the high castle after season four.
Really?
One of her favorite shows.
I thought they were just ending it.
I read the word canceled this one.
Oh, wow.
Just a couple of TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
Dynasties.
But they're showing on, is that on Netflix?
Or is that like a history channel thing?
Yeah, it's not Netflix.
What's it called?
It's called Dynasties.
But it's done.
Dynasties.
Maybe it's on Nat Geo or something.
But that kind of an accent probably.
And then Master of None, season one.
This is the Aziz Ansari show that's on Netflix.
Where he's basically like a single guy on the make ladies.
So he says Aziz Ansari.
He says Aziz Ansari, exactly.
All right.
So it is week three of the Alliance of American football.
Gentlemen, did you do your homework?
That you were assigned two weeks ago?
Watch some.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, I did.
Football.
It's football.
Man, if many words, friends.
Chad, no.
Why did you not do your homework?
You said you were going to do this.
You said on this very show two weeks ago,
I'm interested.
I'll check it out.
I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
If you're not part of the solution,
you're part of the problem.
And you did say, gentlemen,
and I didn't know it was part of the homework.
So you weren't here.
So you're exempt.
Okay.
I have watched almost...
I did not watch today's games,
because the first game started at three,
and I had to pick Alex up.
And the light game has just now started,
and we're on the air.
But here's what happened yesterday in the AF.
Salt Lake gets their first win at home,
and first win period, because it's their home opener.
They beat Arizona 23 to 15.
Great game.
For those of you not aware,
all of the early Saturday games for the rest of the season
will be on Bleacher Report Live.
Yep.
And there were some issues.
As the Alliance has had with every week.
No, this was Bleacher Report's problem.
But what I'm saying is,
something has gone wrong every week.
Well, here's the thing.
If you're the only one showing it,
why do I have a blackout time for commercial break?
You're the one showing it.
Unless there was some kind of a local broadcast deal with it.
I don't know.
That's a possibility.
But when they were using the drone,
the audio was like a second and a half behind.
And so everybody's miked up,
even though Christian Hackerberg chose not to be last night.
We'll talk about that here in a minute.
The cadence.
I was like, wait a minute.
Isn't that a false start?
Oh, no.
This is actually right.
Okay.
Never mind.
We did have Maurice Jones drew
with two different people than he was last week.
Well, the merger complaints.
Yeah.
And the night game was,
see, uh, uh, or Lando hosting Memphis,
or Lando only put up 21.
They're still undefeated.
In a game where Memphis gave them all they could handle in a second.
It was nine, nothing at the half.
Well, Memphis was garbage in the first half,
but their defense played well.
Well, that was because...
Hackenberg.
Hackenberg gets pulled.
Metenberger gets in.
And it just starts lighting the world on fire.
Well, did you see the touchdown pass?
I watched the whole game.
Okay, I don't know this.
You said you watched almost all.
I'm talking about it.
You can catch all of this week,
because I didn't watch today.
I watched both games yesterday.
Okay.
Beginning of it.
Although I fell into the second quarter.
What are the ratings on these things?
Not good.
I'm not great.
I'm curious.
Do they have a name for their,
for their championship trophy?
They have not revealed that.
I'm not sure they have a trophy yet.
I based on some news from week one.
Yeah.
I'm going to assume they're probably going to name it after Tom Dundin at this point.
Well, he's, he's actually done,
but he's now the executive vice president,
or something.
Like he's got a title on the board,
because they weren't going to make payroll.
Because he daily snark reported it.
And as we know,
that's a satire site.
So I wasn't ready,
but then it came out,
ESPN later that day,
that the owner of the Carolina Hurric Keynes
gave him a quarter of a billion dollars,
so I could make payroll on everything.
And now he's on the board.
It was,
because that's how that works.
Yep.
We'll call it the rubber craft.
But I will say,
last night,
don't even,
we're not even talking about that on this show.
Okay.
Because that's the subject that we do not approach on this show.
Okay.
Everybody knows it.
We don't have to talk about it.
I will say this.
Last night,
the game in Orlando,
the attendance is growing.
Yeah.
It's, I mean,
plus the fact they're undefeated,
which doesn't hurt.
It helps.
Well, the first season was the struggle on this.
They, I think that was a foreground.
San Antonio is crushing it with the attendance.
Oh, yeah.
But what do they get attendance-wise?
Like a quarter full,
half full, three quarters?
It depends.
I mean, we're,
there's 17.
San Antonio's got the best attendance in the league.
They've got more,
they're averaging more attendance
than any Chargers home game all year in 2018.
So what's the attendance?
It's been decorated,
for 30-50 years.
It is ranged from 25 to 34,000.
And they play in the aluminum dome.
Well, like,
like just as an example, though, Don,
like, the Atlanta legends,
they play in Georgia State stadium
with the capacity of 24,000.
But then you've got the Birmingham iron
that plays in the stadium
with a capacity of 71,000
because that's where the University of Alabama plays.
And San Diego,
they're in a 70,000 seat stadium.
So it's going to really depend greatly
on where they're playing.
I did,
do they outdo the college teams of play?
I've done nothing but that,
never will.
Not a chance.
No, but again.
season one, especially then you have San Diego that's really struggling. They're they're having they're
getting announced at higher because people are buying tick or owners are paying for tickets,
which is why they're losing money. But San Antonio doesn't have to worry about it. San Diego's
getting like 1800, which is why the charges left. Yes, but um, but no, San Antonio, yeah,
I saw thing. I saw thing that it said this the San Antonio commanders have had more people
at their games than any chargers home game all season. And that includes London. And it's growing.
Yeah. I think, and all these people that are dogpiling and it's something that's really kind of
itched my took us these last couple of weeks. Sorry. I have to watch my language. I know. I'm with you.
I'm so sick of people dogpiling on things, especially something that happened this past week locally
that you want to go into that actually forced to draw me off sides this week. We'll talk about it
here in a minute because we're talking about the app right now. Okay. Earlier today, we have
Birmingham over Atlanta 28 to 12. I have that Birmingham quarterback kid from Texas A&M commerce.
Have you heard the story chat? Yeah. Did not play high school football. All on we're going to
have done a minute. Not really sure you had to announce that, but thank you. You did. We're proud
of you as he trips down the stairs pulls a Chevy chase as Gerald Ford. So this kid starts to play
in high school junior year. Mm-hmm. Besides, he's going to be quarterback. Now, this shows you the
generation gap that we suffer. He learned to play quarterback on YouTube. He went to YouTube and
typed in teach me how to play quarterback. So he's the Justin Bieber. Hold on. No, but stay with me.
I'm just saying that's how he plays quarterback. Team wins. He goes to a juco. Then goes to
A&M commerce. They win a national championship. He wins the D2 version of the Heisman. Wow.
Wait. Go and he bounced around a little bit. He played a little bit for the Rams this past season.
He was lighting the practice for the Rams. He's lighting the A&M on fire. This kid is good.
That's crazy. And you got Trenton Richardson is his running back.
Who can't see a whole of his life depended on it. But he's scoring points. Yeah, it's because he falls
down for a yard. If I'm falling down and I'm scoring six, I'm okay with it. Yeah, it's
an ugly win. It's still a win. And San Antonio is the first blind NFL and aft player. That's
what San Antonio will be at San Diego. That game just now getting underway on NFL network. Next
week on Bleacher Report live Orlando will be at Salt Lake putting their undefeated streak on the
line and Salt Lake's home undefeated streak on the line. San Diego will be at Memphis. San Antonio
will be at Birmingham. That'll be a fun game next Sunday on CBS Sports Network and the night
game next Sunday Atlanta at Arizona for the for the contest for the worst unies in the league.
No music headlines to speak of this week because it's all the same crap. Music new
pieces in places you get new releases this week. I'm just it's the same three things. And I care
about none of them. Well, in kind of the realm of combining movies and music, did you want to
talk about the Rocketman news? Go ahead. I'm not sure what you're talking about. The fact that
Elton John was adamant about not. Oh, yeah, go ahead. That was your story. You drove it to me.
So go ahead. Okay. So Elton John, they're they're have a movie coming out in May called Rocketman.
Oh, yeah. Saw the trade with looks fantastic. Elton John was intent on preserving the music
and having it essentially dubbed over so that it would be his. And I believe it's David Fletcher
or Dexter Fletcher or something along those lines is the director and he's like no, no, no, no,
Terran can sing. And Elton John made Terran Eterton perform allegedly made him perform for the
audience of one that is Elton John to prove that he could do it justice, which he had already done
in sing. Right. Yeah. But Elton John was not as familiar with that. And Elton John said that
kid sings my songs as well as I do. Wow. Dexter Fletcher. And by the way, just so we're clear,
we are backtracking right now. Yes, we are. Just a little bit. But so we're backtracking.
Well, that's why I can't hold you accountable if I'm not holding Don accountable. No, no,
I understand, but that's why I was saying the movie and music combo because the idea is Terran
Eterton actually sings in the movie. They're not dubbed over songs. Music released this week.
Two chains. I know Chad's already got his copy reserved of rap or go to the league.
Right. I don't know. Rap or go to the league. Is that a Dion Sanders shot? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no,
it's it's the rumor of there's only two ways out of the hood. Oh, okay. Fair enough.
Demon Hunters back this week with a double album, one called war, one called peace.
They're a Christian metal band. So what are they together? A born piece. Okay, thank you.
Very long album. Hozier is back this week with Wasteland, baby. A band called Inflames with I,
The Mask. Queen's Reich. Don't know which version it is because there's two different versions
of Queen's Reich out there right now with the verdict. Lamb of God guitarist Mark Borton
releases a solo album called Anesthetic and Weiser releases the Black album this week.
Oh, isn't this the cover album or is that the one that's already out?
I think that's the cover album. I could be wrong. We'll need a factor.
Because I've heard that some of these covers are really, really good.
Well, you've heard Toto and I've seen the video they did for take on me. Yes.
Oh, they did one for take on me. And it's exact. That's amazing. I love Weiser.
Have you guys seen that SNS kit? That day, man, game and very much enjoyed SNL the last couple of weeks.
And you did see who was with the deal with last week's SNL? Did you not, sir?
No. Cheatle was your host. Okay. Your musical guest. One Gary Clark Jr.
Oh. And it was amazing. Well, that's Gary Clark for Jr.
Yes, it is, sir. I'm trying to go. I'm going to the Weiser Black album wiki page.
Yeah, this looks like all originals. Okay, so I think the cover album's already out. Okay,
I'm not mistaken. All right, let's get into some wrestling talk because we don't like to talk
about the NBA too much. Why Alex? Because it's garbage. Thank you very much. We do have as we
bridge from football into wrestling. We have your second and XFL team coach announced
for the DC team, a Pep Hamilton. Yes, Alex. Fill us in. Uh, Pep Hamilton, all offensive guy.
Very happy. All the time. Yes, he is. But he got his break in with really? Okay, with Jim
Harbaugh working at Stanford, also doing work at Michigan. He was on the Cleveland staff,
briefly, when they were no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry. Yes, stop.
But no, I, I am a supporter of Pep Hamilton as long as he gets strong defensive coaches.
He's very good at setting up an offense, not so much calling plays on both sides. So in line
to be coaching in DC is what you're telling me? Yes. Okay. Uh, also, Chad, I don't know if you saw
this this week. There was a online poll held to name the Dallas XFL. Oh, no. Yes. Don, did you see
this? No. Was it putting football team? Oh, I wish, at this one, I wish it was putting
the football team. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Can we also say that there was like 10 options to pick
from plus and other? Yes. And four nine options and another far in a way, the winner because
the internet and Dallas, the Dallas, y'all, it's Dallas, y'all, stop it. That's, that's, that's,
that's what's out there. 44 or 55, 55% last I knew. Stop it. Where are they going to play at?
They're playing at Globe Life's Park. Once the Rangers move after this year,
it's being converted. Have you not heard the story? Yeah. They are converting it into a football
and special events facility with the cooperation of the Arlington Independent School District
or tool also be using it for, for athletic events. Oh, really? So it could be a football with
the kids still at baseball or soccer? No, it's basically football and special events is what they're
going to be using. Yeah, could they are they going to roof the thing or not? No, because that was
a whole reason that the Rangers are moving because it was going to be more expensive to put a roof
on the park than it would be to build a new one. I learned to think how did they say how many people
actually voted to get it? Oh, yes. See, I, that, no, the numbers I didn't see. The numbers,
it was in the 20,000. So the internet took care. But I also think it's also anti-Texas people
or than anything else, more than anything else, but the internet is and always vote for the worst
I've seen it. DX announced as your first inductees for the 2019 Hall of Fame. There's two levels
of crazy to that. So China does get in, which I'm totally on board with. I don't all this backlash
if she should go in by herself. She's going in period. Be happy. And they have a valid reason why
they don't put her in by herself. I think she, if she's going to go in, she goes in as part of DX
because that's where the height of her career was. Absolutely. But she did break things as a
woman in the ring too though. But when did that happen after DX? But D, if there's not DX,
you don't have that. I know, but still what she did in the ring solo deserves also in my
personal opinion. I'm happy she's going in. Don't get me wrong. She deserves to go in. But just
because of that, you could make the other thing. Yes, she had other career. But what about all the
women that posed in playboy? I'm you're not hearing me argue at point. Yeah. What they do in their
spare time is you're not hurting yourself or anybody else and you're within the law. I don't care.
Yeah. But I believe that the best way for her to go in is as a member of DX because she was just
as much a part of that, especially in the beginning as Sean and Triple. Yes, totally. Without her,
a lot of that stuff doesn't work. Exactly. Right. Now, do I believe Sean Waltman should be in
the Hall of Fame? I do not. As a solo. No, it's part of DX. No, because he wasn't just like the
new age outlaws. I think she'd go in as the new age outlaws. I agree with that too. The generation
X is Sean Michaels, Triple H and China. That's the list. That's it. To borrow your phrasing, that's
DX proper. I agree. Yes. But the sixth of them going in is DX. I mean, I get it.
But if I had my brothers, it would just be the core three. And then I would say that you would
do it where you add the new age outlaws, let them have their moment as well. But that's crazy point
number two because where's Billy gun right now? Billy gun working for all elite wrestling.
The head trainer. I'll be interested to see what happens the night before we're still
making it. But saying the point on DX, I will also say this that with it and with all due respect,
always on the four horsemen, only should be it. Only started it. Right. I agree with you fully
and wholeheartedly. But here's why that doesn't happen. Because only because yeah, you can't get
Vince and only in the same room. I understand that. You can't get them in the state. Not the same
argument as China because China and Vince were never yeah, but still, but you're saying what
started it only was. No, I know you're not going to hear me argue that I agree with you fully and
wholeheartedly. Yeah, you're going to put the horseman in. It's the Anderson's Flair Tully. That's
it. And J.J. That's the last. And even J.J. And I could even I could even J.J. was the brains.
I can see Lex too. I can see Lex. I would put Luger in by himself. Yeah. But given what's happened
in his personal life, he did hurt somebody else and break the law. Yeah. So to me, that negates
that. That's why Luger's not in now. I'll tell you what I want. Wind him desires to be in on his own.
But Luger is also doing a ton of great work with his public speaking. Oh, no, I agree. You know,
past history is past history. But you can't talk about history without lack. Luger, Luger is going
to be posthumous. Yes. I believe that fully and wholeheartedly. Wow. Because of what happened.
Yeah. It's one of those. They want to answer the questions. But they also want one where they
can say he's in moving along. Cause there's no speech. Right. Uh, I just, well, who's going to
represent China in the thing? What do you mean represent? No, they're going in as a group. No,
but I think like one of her family members will be there to be. Yeah. Kind of like when, um,
like when Big John's dead died, his son, his son, when, when, um, Bruno, no freebirds came in
when bearer went, when bearer went in, remember his kids were there. Yes. Yeah. It's just like
with the, when we saw the free birds, uh, uh, um, Gordy's son, yep, was there. I believe,
I believe her mother is still around. Yes. Her mother is actually put out a statement. Yes.
Also rumored for the class this year, Taz, which would be, it would be surprising. That would
be surprising. And the honky-tonky bed rumored to be in the class this year. I can't, I,
I was never a big honky-tonky man fan, but I believe he deserves to be in. Oh, he does.
Grey's intercontinental him at about time. How? Oh, and honky meter. It created the honky meter.
Yeah. He was a staple showed up at WrestleMania in a Cadillac driven by Diamond Dallas page.
That is also true. Uh, the network turns five this weekend if you can believe that. Yes.
And they're doing a big retro marathon all weekend long. So they've been taking my money for
five years now. And uh, someone Alex and I were talking on the way here and I am completely on
board with this general. I need you on this one. We crowned our first women's tag team champions
at elimination chamber last week. Boston hug connection. They say on Monday night,
they will defend the belts on all three brands. They will defend the belts on raw. They will defend
the belts on Smackdown. They will defend the belts on NXT. So the rumor is your women tag title match
at WrestleMania will be a four corners match. Boston hug connection. Four corners. One team
from raw, one team from Smackdown, one team from NXT. So it will be the first time that you will have
a proper NXT representation on the main card. Fantastic. Oh, Alex had a question. I actually have
two parts of a question. Please do. Uh, number one, did you see that there's also the possibility
that they'll put it on takeover to give it a better showcase? I'd be on board with that too.
Okay, so there's the rumor of that getting defended on there versus putting it on Mania and
worrying about how low on the card or where to put it on the card because it's going to deserve
its own time. I agree. It's going to be a great match. But the other aspect to that is,
did they show up at an NXT show or show to say that first before raw or was that after the raw?
That was after raw. Okay, I couldn't remember which was after raw.
Okay, because when it was announced, it was on raw when they were in the ring and a promo that
wouldn't wait too long. Yeah, let's see. Roman's going to be on raw tomorrow night to give an update
on his fight with leukemia. They are saying that he will be ring ready in a few months.
So he has every intention on coming back and beating this thing a second time. And to that,
I say more power to you, sir. Amen. Yeah, me too. I don't care what anybody says about Roman Reigns.
I am a fan and I want that man on my TV. Ask us why we do this.
My thing is, just don't get back too early. Well, I think that that's my only thing.
If I'm not mistaken, he's having to give them regular updates on where he's at and they're going
to make the call. And I understand they want him back to make the point that I wish them the best.
I do. Yeah, the company and he both have to agree, I think. Yeah, and I think I don't do it too early
just to get back into the ring. You should do when you are ready, ready, ready, ready.
Congratulations to raw. They had the best ratings in five months this week. But I think a lot of
it's because of what happened in the beginning of raw and we get to that here in a minute.
Or was it a 65,000? I don't know. Bruce Pritchard back with the company in a very, very,
very, yes, in a very high level booking position. Apparently Bruce's affinity for the old school
style of wrestling is what Vince thinks is going to fix this. Well, there's the other aspect that
Bruce Pritchard has been your lead for MLW and has been doing really good work with them.
So he's been overseeing the new heart foundation that they have and a lot of he's actually the one
that booked the war games right before they sold the ring. And with Ruth Pritchard back with the
company, our and Anderson no longer. Yeah, after 18 years from what is being referred to as
some ongoing issues with Vince. And there was talk you've seen was still there
prominently. And when it happened because he's the one that handled everything seen it did
pretty much. Let's talk about raw real quick. For NXT call ups this week. DIY, both of them
with this week, Gargano dropping the North American title to the Velveteen Dream. And
Alistair Black, Mr. Selena Vega and Ricochet all called up this week and appeared on both shows.
Rumor is H didn't know Vince went rogue on this and called them all up. I don't know if Vince
was trying to prove a point. But apparently his plan was just kind of throw them into the
deep end of the pool and let them flounder. But NXT talent went eight no on Raw and Smackdown this
week. So. Well, there's also and that's part of the rumor, but there is also the aspect that
they're saying that this might be the precursor to a Territories-esque model that Hunter has
been talking about where he winds up getting to have roster control over the three shows and you
wind up moving people around like they are the representatives of NXT. That would be in those
certain make appearances on the main roster. Main roster people would make appearances at NXT
and vice versa. Chad, do I need the breaking new sounder? Yeah, look on your face. Well,
it's I don't know if anyone wants. Do we want to remain spoiler free for Oscars? Guys,
you on offscrub date? I don't think three of us already know. I don't. I'm not paying
attention. Don says yes, Gen. Rum. Gen. Rum says yes. All right, breaking new sounder.
We have three winners announced already. All right, please do. Best actors in the supporting role?
Me Regina King. She did win. She won it after almost getting her head taken off at an NBA game
this past week. Best documentary feature. Free solo. All right.
Chad, I think you're the only one that had Regina King if I'm not mistaken. That is not true.
Okay, fair enough. And best makeup and hair styling? I believe I'm three for three.
Vice. Look at that. That's you and I both three. All right. Way to go, brother. Oh, wait, wait, wait.
Wait a minute. Best costume design? Black Panther.
Nice. Good job. All right. Let's see where we're here. I guess is the reason after Bobby
Lashley punked out Leo Rush on the paper view. Did we put him back just to get punked again?
What was that? They're going to basically make him a punch. Well, because originally the plan
was for ricochet to face Finn Balor and beat him. But they, but that's what Vince wanted. But
H was like, no, that doesn't make any sense. We're trying to push Finn Balor. Why would he job
to ricochet? Let's just put him in a tag team, put him up against Lashley and Leo Rush.
I still think that there is the long-term plan and a possible foresight on spoiler alert.
Three, two, one.
There is rumor that Leo Rush will be getting just beat around by Lashley for a while
until he has saved by his former tag team partner. You mentioned this last week.
On air. Yes, you did. Did I? You did. That's why I remember it.
Okay. Because I've listened to it. He would get saved by velvet and green.
And apparently Leo Rush has some heat. Who Lashley and Leo, who did they take on them?
Well, from Ricochet and Bambalar. Ricochet, which is the NXT.
Okay. Cornette said a good thing on this podcast where he said, if you want to bring in this team,
they should have put him against a tough team. Not against Leo Rush.
You know, because he's not, they don't want it as a team.
Yeah, this is a one shot so they don't have to face each other.
And we had the confrontation between the glorious tag team and DIY.
Am I the only one that kind of forgot about American Alpha?
No, not really. Because of Gable was like, yeah, I remember we beat you guys up in NXT.
I was like, oh, that's right. He was an American Alpha.
Well, Jason Jordan made us all want a mind wipe.
And I've said I'm not, I'm not giving Cole grief anymore.
But I do want to say one thing this week to Cole.
I'm not sure I would refer to DIY as upstarts.
They've been doing this for a minute.
And I've just, even though I keep hearing that your, your, your match for WrestleMania
is going to be KO and Daniel Bryan.
Allegedly.
I just feel like he's gonna, I just feel like KO is coming back just ultra heal.
Because he's being ultra just cool and all these vignettes.
I think they're going to turn him into Jericho where he's going to be the one to save the company.
I just, it's just a gut feeling and I heard another interesting rumor about
Kofi getting the shot at Fastlane this week.
Go on.
Because what you're setting up for at Mania is Kofi Big E.
That's the split.
It's being talked about that they Randy Orton it with evolution.
I don't like it.
I don't either, but I'm hearing it.
Kofi, get a title shot.
Do you think that?
Heck yeah.
Did you not watch that match last Sunday and on Tuesday?
I saw it.
That does, that dude more than deserves the shot.
He never had the big one yet.
No.
That's the only one he hasn't had.
That's the only one he hasn't had.
He's had everything else.
I like how Sasha and Bailey both have a coin on both belts.
I thought that was pretty cool with the red background on them, which I liked a lot.
I would love it to see an NXT women's team win the belt, which I think could happen in Mania
if this is the plan because that's going to unite the belt with the four horse women.
The problem is I still think Shafir and Duke are too far behind.
And I'm not sure what Naya was talking about women's with an E yet.
That was a little weird for me.
It's not women's.
It's women's anyway.
And the jobbing of Dean Ambrose continues.
Ford John.
And I was impressed that Alistair Black got his full entrance on Monday night,
and Tuesday night.
So he did the whole raising up out of the stage and the candles and everything else.
I've been saying it for two years.
He's the answer to whiftaker leaves or revires.
Win at this point.
And Black was an amazing knee.
I know it was Elias that hit the knee as Black came off the top rope.
That was awesome.
And at least this women's title match went longer than the one the night before.
That's not saying much.
Because this sentence took longer than that match.
And apparently from what I'm being told that the contingency plan
if Rhonda leaves after Mania is your top three women are going to be
Becky Charlotte and Lacey Evans.
Yes.
Apparently they're getting ready to Roman push her.
Yeah, but they're saying that she's going to get the Smackdown Roman push
while you'll have Becky and Charlotte working on Mondays.
And a tough high spot by Rhonda when she came off that, oh man,
like I was legit worried when she jumped off that top triple.
I have started to cringe whenever she does something new.
I mean, God bless her for trying to to expand the repertoire, but man, that's getting rough.
Let's just move on real quick.
Double or nothing will have the return of the over the budget battle royale.
Very excited about that where the winner.
It's on the pre show downloads a little confused.
Let me explain.
They do this 20 man battle royale in the pre show.
And the winner of that gets a world title shot during the show.
Okay.
Which I think and they tend to put a lot of guys in there like a lot like the rumble
where you get surprise entrance and things like that.
There was a lot of indie love on the first one with all in.
Also, that was not gender specific.
That's where I became a huge fan of Jordan Grace putting in work.
Like not great work for a woman.
Great work.
Yeah, she's really good.
She's really good.
The rest of the card at this point, young bucks versus Pentagon and Ray Phoenix
after they interviewed after they interfered in their A.A.W.
tag title match this past weekend.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega going at it again.
And Adam Page versus Pock.
Oh, that's going to be great.
Who you know as the man who gravity for God.
Mm hmm.
It's a Neville.
Okay.
Or Adrian Neville until they drop the name like everybody else.
Just an update on some of the things that Alex talked about last week.
WWE contracts that are ending soon.
Matt Hardy next Tuesday.
Oh, really?
That early.
Wow.
And Jeff not far behind.
Because remember how early WrestleMania was when they returned.
That is true.
Jim Ross is soon and apparently his legends deal is keeping him from
signing a new deal with New Japan.
Well, New Japan wanted an exclusive as well as WWE
not wanting him to continue.
And we all know Dean Ambrose in April.
So as AJ Styles, the Usos and Page both up soon.
Yep.
Those are both April are those all three are in April as well.
Born.
Ambrose Styles.
Usos Page.
Well, I was referring to the last three you were talking about.
Oh, the page deals.
Well, she jumps.
No, she'll resign.
Oh, she'll definitely she'll she'll be working in the women's division.
She's got too good of a head on her for the actual business.
But she want to stay after the way the companies did behind her film.
Yeah, absolutely how they stood behind her everything.
Yeah, they couldn't get her in ring anymore.
I'm really looking forward to seeing that film.
David Finley was injured at honor rising with a dislocated shoulder.
Oh, that's.
David Finley has a lot of talent.
For those of you wondering about the G1 super card, it's going to take place at MSG
the night before WrestleMania.
That will be covered on honor club.
On fight TV, New Japan world and traditional pay-per-view for $40.
Yeah, good thing I have honor club.
Yeah, I'll be at your house.
Let's see.
So three releases this week.
Oh, yes.
Hideo Atami, no longer with the company.
TJP, no longer with the company.
A lot of people are saying he's got new tattoos and it's screwed up video game and
action figure stuff.
He said, no, the company knew about it six months ago.
Yeah.
And Don, are you ready for somebody no longer with the company?
Want China?
10.
10.
10.
10.
Tied Dillinger.
Oh, okay.
He'll be in the AEW.
I promise you.
Cody is, Cody is real high on him.
He may not be on air or in front of camera, but he's going to be in the company.
He'll be in that dollar.
Well, I can tell you that much.
I'm saying it now.
Let's see.
Oh, hold on.
We have updates from chat.
Best production design winner.
Me.
Black
Panther.
Got that one.
Nice.
Thank you very much.
All right.
No, I'm Dar and Mark Andrews.
Both may have gotten injured at an NXT UK.
How show yesterday?
Not good.
No, I'm Dar was finally going to start getting to do.
And now there will be an NXT UK title match.
A tick over New York the night before WrestleMania.
Chad get ready.
Pete Dunn versus Walter.
Chad is first sampling of the work of Walter today.
I know I hate backtracking,
but one thing I'm glad they're doing on Academy Awards this year.
90 seconds from the time your name is said to the time you got.
They're trying to end that thing by 10 o'clock central.
I know because after Halle Berry's six minutes of just,
you know, that's what I say to that speech.
Yeah, let's see.
Chris Hemsworth.
Oh, wow.
Is Hogan.
Oromania.
It's going to be Chris Hemsworth playing Hulk Hogan in a
biopic about Hogan's early days.
I don't know how far it's supposed to go.
I would assume it's going to end with WrestleMania three.
Allegedly, that's where you're going to get your climate.
That's what I'm figuring.
Who are they going to get to play much on me?
Actually, somebody they were talking about that caught me off guard.
Well, the module thing didn't come till after three.
So if they only go till three,
but you could have him and you can have him in because
remember, macho was at the originals.
Okay.
Yeah, well, he was at three.
Yeah, he played the, uh, uh, uh, that was teamboat.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I'll play much.
Who have you heard?
They brought up the name Dave Batista.
Ha ha ha.
Playing macho man.
He's too big.
Oh my god.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And Hugh Jackman was Wolverine.
Who cares?
Yeah.
I am in.
But allegedly, they're talking about there will be a highlight
of everybody getting in there and the, some of the jealousy
from Savage because they want to take shots at my man.
I, I want this.
I want this in the world.
So I have Thor and Drax in the Hogan biopic.
That'd be kind of that's where they got the connection.
I want this in the worst way.
I do, but here's the thing.
They're talking about, or the rumor I heard was Dave Batista
getting brought in as Savage because they can also save money
on a consultant.
This is true.
There.
Come on.
I just played Daniel Bryan in that aspect.
Can I get a want one on that one?
Exactly.
That's what I think he's too big to play macho.
You're too big to play.
I wasn't going to say it.
I'll say it.
I'll be Ray Mysterio.
Exactly.
Put a mask on me.
And I'll try this.
I want to be the Haiti kid.
Yeah.
In that film.
Because he was around back then.
Some Smackdown live notes.
I will say this in the first five minutes of Smackdown.
The New Orleans crowd was 20 times better
than all three hours of raw and Lafayette.
That crowd was terrible.
That's not saying much.
It's Lafayette.
They couldn't even get the chance right.
Cody Hawkins called me the next day.
We talked about that for like 20 minutes
of how bad that crowd in Lafayette was.
Allister Black versus Andrade.
Conflict of interest.
I'm just asking.
I'm asking for a friend.
Oh no, no, they put a great match.
It was a great match.
As they've always been.
For those of you that don't know,
Andrade managed by Selina Vega,
Mary to Allister Black.
Saw a couple of the wedding photos today.
I didn't mention he was Mr.
was Alina Vega earlier.
Yes, you did.
But it was very, very subtle.
It's the only time I've caught it.
It's the only time I'm sorry.
I'm going to say this and I shudder to say it.
And I haven't heard this anywhere.
I'm not basing this on anything I've heard.
But I had this thought during Smackdown for Mania.
Go on.
Missed with Vince in his corner.
Versus Shane with Mrs.
Dad in his.
Well, you know the old story about
why Miz gets mad at his dad, right?
I don't.
For years, the running bit in
God outside off the cameras was
missing.
Hey, Dad, am I your favorite now?
And he goes, nope, still coffee.
But his dad be able to wrestle.
Just in his corner, just in his corner, not really doing anything.
And here's a random fact for you.
Apparently, I found it this week that Ricochet
is from the same town as Christian
contemporary artist Stephen Curtis Chapman.
Paduka Kanducky.
Paduka.
The more you know.
And I did you see the new day shirts this week?
I have not.
Let me see if I can, if they have it on shop yet.
Okay, well, is there a description that goes along with this?
Not until you see it.
Because if I describe it, it's going to ruin it.
Okay, so we're getting the hammer right off the bat.
Oh, they turn it into a one chain
or they have a new shirt every month.
It's getting close.
They've been there.
It's just color scheme.
Oh, and there's new, there's new
benefit shirts for Champa and Becky Lynch.
I did see the better benefiting of veterans or camouflage.
They're really awesome.
The black heart one, particularly amazing with it.
And Champa said something about you finally got it right.
Yeah, let me see how great is the work he's
been doing as champion in an XT.
I don't tell he drops the title here soon.
Well, you're assuming there is a possibility.
I don't think they're taking it off of him anytime soon
because he's doing, he's the best heel in the company right now.
There's no new day not have.
There's nobody doing better heel work than Champa right now.
Because your other aspect is the rumored title match at takeover.
In New York is DIY.
Okay, they don't have it on shop yet.
But it's the three of them and it's the cover of TLC's crazy sexy cool album.
I just love how the company's just like,
whatever you guys want to do.
Just we'll roll with it.
Just just tell me Xavier is not in the middle.
I can't remember exactly for sure.
I do a couple of quick tech talk items.
One more step towards the death of physical media.
Samsung officially getting out of the disc player game.
One of the top Blu-ray and DVD and 4K player manufacturers
is saying we are done for this year.
And Chad, did you see Nintendo America's new president?
That is genius.
His name is Doug Bowser.
Did you see that they changed all the logos on the website?
No, I didn't see that.
Okay, so Chad, I know you know this.
There's, I don't know if it's going to be universal.
But Bowser has his own logo where it's just the outline of the head.
Right.
They changed all of the Nintendo logos to the Bowser game.
Oh, nice.
But you know what they call Bowser in Japan.
Dave, King Kupa.
So they're called Dave Kupa over there.
And Bowser is the big baddie in Mario Bros.
That you fight at the end.
That you throw the app again?
Yeah, yeah.
His name is Bowser.
Yeah.
And so his name is Dave.
The guy's real name is Dave Bowser,
who's the new president of Nintendo.
When I saw that, I dropped the phone, huh?
Doug, I'm sorry, Doug Bowser.
Okay.
I just remember the song about ignorance is bliss.
Yeah, that's what, that's why that's funny.
It just is.
I read that and I went, oh, this is going on the show.
I like it.
I just, that's, that's,
let's get to the list.
Alex has the list this week because,
because we run up because I'm good with it.
Well, so what we have is sticking with our, pardon me,
sticking with our Oscars theme.
It did have to get some rewrites real quick,
since somebody brought up Spielberg not being nominated.
Okay.
And that's how I was able to look it up so quick,
was because that was number six on my list.
Okay.
But we have the 10 biggest Oscars snubs.
Okay.
All right.
So number 10,
Ray finds not winning the best supporting actor in 94
for Schindler's list.
Hey, man.
Two Tommy Lee Jones from the fugitive.
Up back.
Get him up.
Number nine.
I think I can speak for everybody on this panel
and say the dark night not getting nominated for best picture.
Uh-huh.
So that was the beginnings.
That was the beginnings.
Number eight.
Most perfect.
Also a very interesting one.
Citizen Kane did not win best picture.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, with that.
I am too.
But that's what the best I appreciate.
But you think about who it is.
I appreciate that film's contribution to film history.
But I disagree that it's the greatest film of all time.
And it didn't become that until how many years after the AF I did that live.
So I have to disagree with that being a snub.
I think they did the right thing at the time.
And I had the ending.
Well, it's not your list on number nine.
But she has her opinion.
And I will say this right before I saw that film.
I had the ending spoiled for me.
Was it right before or was literally minutes before they fired up the VCR?
That's the right you told me this story.
I was in a class in college that was called movies as literature.
So every week we would deal with a genre and have to write a paper on it.
Well, one week we watched Citizen Kane.
And our professor thought it would be a really good idea to send around the class
with that week's syllabus.
A two peanuts comics that give away the ending to Citizen Kane in it.
I was like, I haven't seen this before.
Is this something?
So back to number nine though.
Number nine.
How many nominations were there that year of the dark night?
Was it fiber?
Was it eight or nine?
I believe it was seven.
Because it was seven then it was.
If only there was a magic box we could hold on.
Hold on, hold on.
What year was it?
It was 2008.
Well, it was released in 2008.
It was the Oscars in 2008.
It was the Oscars of 2008.
Okay.
I thought it came out in 2008.
Because that was the year of slumdog millionaire winning.
Also a great film.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, no, it was.
I'm not saying that it should have won,
but it deserved more recognition than it deserved a nomination.
Yes.
That was a great film.
Heck with comic book film.
Just a great film.
Uh, let's see.
Best picture.
No, are you sure it was the 2008 awards and not the 2009 award?
It may be the 2009 awards.
I just have it because 2008 was a no country for old men one.
It may be 2009 then.
Yeah, it happened 2009 because it was released in 2008.
Yeah, there it is.
Yeah.
Oh, that's what they had five.
Thunder smurfs in that one.
For best, so that, uh, let's see.
I've got you know, we're not just for best pictures.
Slumdog millionaire, the curious case of Benjamin Button,
Ross Nixon, milk, and the reader.
Okay.
So there was only that's when they were still capping it at five then.
Yeah.
But if that's here, but the next year they went to to nine
where it had thunder smurfs, but uh,
hurtlocker one which it deserved and ledger one for best supporting actor.
Right.
Which he deserved with Sean Penn winning for milk that year.
Yeah.
Okay.
So uh, Jen Rome had a question.
No, I was just going to say for those who were new to it,
thunder smurfs his avatar.
Not everyone knows that big boat movie is Titanic.
These are some things somewhere newer.
No, it's big.
It's stupid boat movie.
Stupid boat movie.
These are some things some people wouldn't know if they didn't
register regularly.
Fair enough.
Fair enough.
You okay with that, John?
Mm-hmm.
What's wrong?
Yeah.
Oh, I think you had seen something.
No, no, just, just okay.
It's the arse whip.
Are we on seven?
I think we're on seven.
I something like that.
Okay.
Shawshank redemption.
Oh god.
Losing de Forest Gump.
I see.
I totally agree with you on that.
I, that year, I would have been okay either way.
I just think Shawshank redemption is,
but I, I don't.
Forest Gump was something like we had never seen before
on multiple levels.
It was nothing like the book it was based on.
Oh, I don't, I don't have a problem with it,
not being like the book,
but Shawshank redemption was so much better than
everything.
Mm-hmm.
I just, it still holds up.
It's arguably.
I'm okay either way.
The time it was a box.
I know.
Right.
It was.
That is very true.
That is very true.
It didn't do well at the box office,
but it was marketed terribly.
Tons of best picture films didn't do well at the box office.
Yeah.
Tons of them.
Well, think about, you know,
Slumdog was an indie film.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
All right.
I know this one's going to get, uh,
Gen Rome a little bit worked up.
Bob Bossy winning best director over Francis Ford Coppola
for the Godfather in 72.
What just happened?
Godfather's the greatest film ever made.
Right.
But the best director did not go for what I'm saying.
Yeah.
Who did it go to that year?
Bob Bossy for Cabaret.
Cabaret, okay.
See, I thought you loved Cabaret.
I do, but I love God.
I do love Cabaret, but I love Godfather too.
Godfather's a better movie.
Cabaret's a better show at the theater,
like a live action.
Especially when you know the story
behind what it took to get the Godfather done.
Yes.
And on top of it,
my favorite factoid about the Godfather
is the guy rehearsing, uh,
Luca Brati rehearsing his lines,
not knowing he's on camera.
It's because he literally was rehearsing his lines.
He was thug-life.
Let's just leave it at that.
He was legit.
But because we brought it up,
we have to don't tell mama.
A strong child.
A manly.
If you first child is a masculine child.
All right.
You'll come the day when I'm in French.
Ah, number five.
Martin Scorsese not being nominated
for Best Director of Taxi Driver.
Wow, I didn't know that.
Yeah, who is he up against, do you know?
Uh, I don't know off the top of my head,
but I remember looking at the list and going,
there's some quality in 1976.
But Taxi Driver with as much iconic stuff
as you have in there,
he should have at least gotten a nod.
1978.
I had it as released in 1976.
Okay, I'm just trying to look it up.
Almost as bad as Spielberg.
Well, it's, yeah.
Well, that's the one I had to remove from the list
just because that's,
that would be the biggest one to me.
It would be Spielberg not getting nominated
from Joe's now that we have confirmed.
There's like 19 different films called Taxi Driver.
Well, you got to be careful with that.
I'm just saying it's crazy that there's
this many of them.
Yeah, so I,
I,
Milo Shiloh for, uh,
cuckoo.
Yeah, see, like,
no, no, but what I'm saying is kind of good either way.
No, no, that's good with the win,
but he wasn't even nominated.
Yeah, that's it.
That's, that's it.
And as we know,
it's an honor to just be nominated.
But he wasn't that's true.
That's the big crime here.
Okay.
All right, number four, Alfred Hitchcock,
also not nominated for North by Northwest.
Wow.
When you think about the amount of stuff
that was original in North by Northwest,
for example,
incorporating the plane shot,
which had never existed.
And they're like,
Alfie sit down.
Tell me, tell me at least a cinematographer
got some love for that thing.
I hope so,
but I didn't go that far into it
because I'm not going to lie.
I wasn't making this list on the fly.
Anybody who was watching this stream
and saw me fiddling on my phone
for the first 10 to 15 minutes on the show.
Probably longer.
I was writing the list
as I was researching
when we started the show.
Okay, let me just go real fast.
The year when Miloist won for Cuckoo's Nest,
Robert Altman for Nashville got nominated
for Draco for Draco
Finnelli for Alene for Amla Cored,
Kubrick for Barry London
and Cindy Lomit for Dog Day afternoon.
Now, Dog Day, yeah.
I don't know.
That's still a pretty deep field.
That is pretty deep,
but I would skill.
Kubrick, Chris A.Z.
over at least three of them.
Who?
All the London now, man.
Now, it's a personal preference.
I mean, that's a deep field.
Yeah.
So, God number three,
this one, particularly because Chad's the one
that got me to this one.
Peter Rowe's tool was not nominated
for Best Actor in Lawrence of Arabia.
That's a crime.
Lawrence.
That's a crime.
I'm not going to debate that.
No, I don't have a problem with who won it.
Right, but it's the nomination.
It's the fact he wasn't nominated.
It is just ridiculous.
Well, and like we can look at the other,
Don didn't quite name all the,
the, uh, when Milos,
oh, that was the only one for Amadeus, though.
Is that what we're talking about?
It was no 76.
Okay.
Yeah, Amadeus was later.
Okay.
And that was a fantastic.
That was, that was a,
that was a serious field, too, because you had
Milos winning for Amadeus.
You had Coppola with the Cotton Club,
Rowan Joppy for the Killing Fields.
David Link for a pass to India
and Sergio Leone wants a lot,
once upon a time in America.
That's like a great list.
You're kind of good no matter which way.
That's one of those where it's like you might want to just like
either put it out a little earlier
or hold it for a year because you're not winning it.
We have a five-way tie.
Yeah, we have a five,
all these guys, all these guys.
Actually, that was the Golden Globes, though.
Okay.
Even more so.
Okay, so number two.
Okay.
2001, a space Odyssey,
not nominated for Best Picture.
I understand why it wasn't,
there's multiple layers of why it wasn't,
but it should have been,
sorry, that's me.
I have no depth perception,
but here's my thing in there.
Here, that was 69, correct?
Uh, that was 16, 16, 16, 69 awards.
You've been that calmer one that year, that's the Eros point.
Yeah.
The thing about that year,
I just think a lot of people,
I think if you go back to 68,
I think a lot of people didn't understand
or could appreciate 2001 a space Odyssey
as they did 20 years later.
Do you think they were too confused?
Nothing possible.
Not possibly.
Part of it because that film is not something
that you can put on and do other things while it's on.
And it's not a genre that was particularly well-liked
by the Academy Roaders.
Because most films of that ilk
were planned nine from outer space,
were Barbara Rella.
Like the sci-fi genre had still not yet gotten the respect
you deserved until Star Wars.
That is a fair point.
And it's easy to say these are snubs in hindsight,
but to me they are.
No, totally.
But it is in hindsight.
No, totally.
Okay, so the big one for me,
and what I first saw when we were looking at the Oscars
that caught me off guard,
saving Private Ryan,
losing the best picture to Shakespeare and Love.
I can't even win.
And yeah, I think the,
it's been well documented as to why that happened.
Yeah, but here's the other answer.
I honestly, I'm leaving that off here.
I'll tell you that off here.
But at the same time,
I actually liked Shakespeare and Love.
I love saving Private Ryan.
I have said on multiple times,
it is arguably one of the best movies ever made.
If I could go back on the 2001,
the winner was Oliver.
The nominees for Best Picture were funny, girl.
Oh, he widened the winner,
Rachel Rachel and Romeo and Juliet.
Wow, I got very confused when he said 2001.
No, he's not the movie.
Yeah, I didn't follow that immediately.
And when he said Oliver, I got very confused.
Again, Shakespeare and Love was a good movie.
No, well, was it the best picture of that here?
I doubt it.
No, sir.
I walked out of it.
Really?
Wow.
Wow, that's an HSO right there, sir.
That is.
I still think you're missing one.
Which one?
I don't know.
Stupid boat movie.
Beating LA Confidential,
which was a far superior film.
You know, I am not going to deny that,
but here's your other surprise.
I haven't seen LA Confidential.
That's not, that's not surprising me.
I own it on a laser disk.
I watched that one with you, sir.
Yeah.
And that's when you're looking at it.
I saw that movie twice in the theater
because I was so blown away the first time I saw it.
I had to go back so I could watch it to be the movie
but outside of the performances.
No, like, and the first time I'd ever seen Guy Pierce
then went back and watched
the adventures of Persemic Queen of the Desert.
But I also maintain your hatred for stupid boat movie
is one of the reasons you need to at least watch
the season one finale of Rick and Morty.
There is nothing but bashing Titanic.
I just, the fact that LA Confidential,
because that's the only time in my lifetime
that I have seen every best picture nominee in a theater.
And that was the main reason I saw stupid boat movie.
Because if you remember, that was a Christmas day release.
No, I didn't remember that.
It was supposed, what's that?
Wouldn't it supposed to be like a Thanksgiving release
or a summer release and it got pushed back to Christmas day?
If I remember correctly?
Titanic?
Yes.
Oh gosh, yeah, I want to say it got delayed.
And when it came out,
and that was probably using it did such gangbuster business
was because it released on Christmas day
and then people went and saw it
and word spread like wildfire.
It's got a release date of December 19th, 1996.
Okay, so right, right before.
Yeah.
And see, I have a similar issue with,
see, that's one of those where they're jumping up.
The usual suspects getting stubbed
for whatever El Pustino got nominated.
Yeah.
Now, Braveheart 1, I can't argue with that.
Great film.
But usual suspects should have got
to slot the Dil Pustino God.
The Postman, which is also a bad Kevin Costerville.
And see, I'm just saying that there's no true action category
because there's so much that goes into so many of now
that I'm just going to have my own little nominees
and awards in my head.
See, I feel like they argue that the action would be
any kind of choreography recognition.
But even some of the great action films aren't getting that kind of.
That's also true.
Where's the choreography?
But I believe that's under check.
Chad, hold on, hold on.
Go ahead, Chad.
I'm on the wrong page.
Both sound Oscars have been, have been handed out.
Okay.
Best sound editing.
Bohemian Rhapsody.
Nice.
Best sound mixing.
Gotta be Bohemian.
Also Bohemian.
Okay, I got one of the two.
Ditto.
I think I'm, I think I've got them all so far.
I will, I think I'll know when I listen back at least.
It's gonna be Tuesday before I can start listening back.
So any other, any other ones you guys
want to give on this one?
Oh, I got two.
Go ahead, sir.
Uh, how in the Academy Awards in the, uh,
when 1997 Academy Awards for the 96 films,
the people versus Larry Flinkin snubbed.
Because it was about Larry Flinkin.
As best, as best picture.
Any, any, the only thing?
No, no, no, no, because Courtney Love got nominated.
Yeah.
And I believe Woody Harrelson also got nominated.
Yeah.
So we didn't get shut out.
It just didn't get nominated for best picture if I'm not.
And that's the thing and, and how,
she's going to got a lot more than it did.
And even Norton deserve for best sporting actors as the attorney.
That is an excellent film.
Don't get me wrong.
Yeah.
I mean, I saw that at a jivin.
Wait, what was nominated that year, though?
Compared to the best picture, uh,
English patient one.
That's what I'm going to say.
Uh, okay, and I'd make the same argument for the color purple
whenever it got the living,
not kicked out of it by out of Africa.
Yeah, I thought that was a car.
Fargo was in it.
So I mean, I can see Fargo but not get nominated.
Secret and lies and shine.
People shine.
Shine was the movie.
I was trying to remember two weeks.
Don't come down on shine.
That's an amazing film.
Still, I'm saying better than.
And then the other one.
Secret and lies.
I believe it's Woody Allen.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that was back then.
That was also in accordance with California state law.
Right.
But the other one was in the 2007 Academy Awards.
Where I thought if they would have marketed right and put it later
in a year and everything,
but it's up against suppressed each the illusionist.
With Edward Norton.
But and that was also because they were so similar.
I know.
Secret and lies was Mike Lee.
Not, uh, not, not, uh, what's his face?
Woody Allen.
Well, my biggest gripe will always be
whenever Annie Hall beat Star Wars
and when Cherry it's a fire,
beat Raiders of the Lost Ark.
But that's just, you know,
I thought about including Raiders of the Lost Ark on the list,
but Cherry it's a fire.
Another one I'm kind of good with either way.
Exactly.
That thing was so boring.
I would have rather ungolden pond when it did not.
Also a great film.
Also a great film.
Just saying.
No, no, I love Don Goldenpond.
The fact that the best actor and best actors
were both taken by Henry Fond and Catherine Hepburn.
Give the movie the dead gun thing.
But don't give it to Cherry.
It's a fire.
Yeah, but remember,
I think it was Nova Cane.
Wasn't the slum dog millionaire the first time in Oscar history
where best picture won
and it didn't get any of the other major categories?
I believe that was the first time he got done.
Yes.
If I'm not mistaken,
it's the first time that he filmed one best picture
that did not win best director or any actor awards.
It might have been four.
Was that one trafficker with it?
No, that was best director.
Yeah, no, that didn't win that didn't win best picture, though.
It won best director on it.
Yeah, but it was picture.
That's your one got real funky.
That's what I'm saying is first time a crash.
Crash, yeah, crash.
I think crash is another one there.
No, I thought that got best director and best picture.
I don't know.
Because slum dog millionaire is the first time
that I filmed one best picture
that did not win any of the other major categories.
Let me do a quick look on that.
Let me see what your crash was.
And also a terrible film.
Crash was 2004.
Okay.
Both versions of films called crash around that same time
with those terrible films.
Best picture, best writing original screenplay
and best achievement in film editing.
So it got best screenplay.
Yeah, right.
But there was a nomination for best actor
in a supporting role.
Oh, I thought maybe it happened.
I thought maybe it also happened with Return of the King
but Peter Jackson won that.
Yeah, the actress even got nominated.
That year was the year that Peter Jackson made up
for all the Oscars he didn't get for the other two.
Right.
But no actors were nominated.
Michaela was nominated for fellowship
and nobody got nominated for Return of the King.
All right.
Excellent stuff, sir.
Well done.
Anything else where we wrap this thing up, guys.
I think we got the plugs.
All right.
So let's plug some stuff.
First of all, this coming Saturday,
six days from today.

But I'm doing it.
And I've said it before.
I'm saying the reason I'm saying this so much
is so I can't check it out.
Because it's out there.
But Brandy is amazing.
If you want to get piercings done,
there's going to have a piercing artist there too.
Who they speak very, very highly of.
And we met her briefly last week.
Could not be nicer.
We're so thankful for Godfather Inc.
giving us the time on a Saturday.
