Weak three is underway. Welcome to the clubhouse. The clubhouse is officially open. I am Rob. I'm joined by Cody three in a row.
Without a vacation. Does that does that entitle us now? Do we get benefits or anything of that nature? Or do we just go?
We just roll as long as they let us to. That's true. We were told we want to FCC band. That's why we can't have Janet on anymore. That's the problem there. Welcome. We've got a lot to get to this week. I want to tell everybody listening up front that we are going to be very entertainment intensive this week.
If you are of the geekish nature like I am, you know that we just finished San Diego Comic Con. And a lot of news came out of there. We're not going to go over everything that you're talking four days worth of convention.
But there were some big bullet points we want to hit. But before we get to that always we start with sports and we're going to start because life again starts in just about a month because I don't count preseason.
I got a curve ball for the show today. Exactly. Between the time that I wrote the run sheet Senate to Cody with his notes combined together and the time we went on the air. We do have a fairly big name in the NFL has passed away. Cody tell him about it.
Well, a lot of people might know this person if you're in the from the Los Angeles Oakland California area. That is Jack Tatum known as the assassin played with the Raiders from 71 to 79 and retarded oil or 1980 was your team.
Raiders were your team of choice at one point or the night at one time just because they're playing your team in a Super Bowl. Well, if there's that. That was a good day.
And Jack was a was a character had 10 years in the league three time pro Bowl selection was known more for one infamous play in 1978 at a preseason game against New England Patriots.
He paralyzed Darryl Stingley indeed. And from the neck down became a quadriplegic and he never apologized for that hit said that. Hey man, I was doing a job and that was my job was to hit people.
You know nick name was the assassin won a ring. Not a Hall of Famers in the college football Hall of Fame 1974 played for some play for Woody Hayes at Ohio State. All big 10 1968 69 and 70.
And it's a loss. I guess it's a loss. I don't want to say greatest free safety ever. But he did. He started an era with with Roy Williams and of course Ronnie lot.
He was probably the first biggest hard hitting safety made it being a very very big career. No, he did not know. Did you think so? I mean, I knew who he was. And back at that point in my life, I was too young to really grasp a lot of the NFL.
Yeah, he was one of them guys when he ever heard John LaSenda in the Oakland Raiders. The Oakland Raiders love that. He's the person you see that's more identified with the out Davis, the outlaw, the bearded Oakland Raiders. That's right. Okay.
I want to just touch on that real quick. Let's move on. Another thing that's happened between the time that I wrote the run sheet and the time we went on the air.
Tio has finally signed and again, Terrell Owens, Terrell Davis. Let's make sure we're clear on that. Terrell Texas. Yeah. Well, yeah. Although none of the three are related in any way, shape or form.
He is now a bangle. Does that do anything for you?
It's a young and the restless hits the Queen City. I'll tell you that. You know, one thing about Tio is that they just he's just a nut and he's not a thug guy.
It'd be different. He was gang banger. He was fighting dogs or he was he was doing a bunch of different stuff. He's he's a loudmouth. He's not a guy that you want the locker room. You know, in Dallas, he had it made in the shade. That was a Super Bowl team that he were managed to get kicked out of town.
I think he's a Hall of Famer. I think he's missing one thing. I think it's the ring now Chad Johnson. He's not a thug guy. He's more of a guy that I want to be on VH1. I want to dance. I want to do this, but I don't think he's a bad guy.
Isn't he want to play basketball too? Yeah. Isn't that part of his deal now? He wants to he wants to play in the NBA? I don't want to ring there.
No, we're not tweeted LeBron James and any of those guys about a three on three, because you may get your tail kicked and that little deal Tio.
Yeah. Um, I don't know. It's to me. It's kind of a non story. Just like this next thing we're about to tell. I don't know if it's a non story. I think that that Tio is always going to be a story.
going to be a story and you know which one person he thinks for making him a story.
That's his agent.
Yeah, that's true.
Rosenhouse has never let anybody forget about him being a free agent.
He's going to sign.
He's going to sign.
He's going to sign.
Hey, he signed.
One year, two million.
Really?
I did.
Yeah, I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, but man, it's like you and I talked about before
we got on the air.
Go back five years in time, get in your Delorean, get up to 88 miles an hour.
Go back five years and go, hey, Tio, in 2010, you're going to send a one year contract
for $2 million.
And you have no rings.
Do the words fart in church mean anything to you?
Because that's what it's going to be like for him.
Yeah, you know, ever since he's left San Francisco, it's just been one thing after another,
after another, after another with him.
He's just, he has not, he has not lived up to the high, but I still think he's a Hall of
Famers.
He's got Hall of Fame numbers.
Um, 55 catches last year.
Well, I'm talking before, before then, I mean, he was productive.
I think that, I think 55 catches at Buffalo.
My jury's out on him for the Hall of Fame.
I don't know if I'm, I'm not sold at all.
And a lot of people are, you know, I'm not a lot of people.
Next story, date line Dallas, Texas, I've told you from time to time, we're going to go
local.
I'm sorry for those of you that are out of our market.
But this is what we live every day in this town.
Des Bryant, Oklahoma State, why receiver drafted by the Cowboys in the first round, which
I said congratulations, Cowboy fans for drafting somebody I've heard of since Emmett Smith.
Um, refuses to carry Roy Williams's pads as a rookie blah, blah, blah.
Now the coach is saying, I'm supporting him.
I don't want any form of hazing on this team at all.
And now, now, Des is now saying, well, maybe if I didn't know this was going to be such
a big deal, I would have carried him to begin with.
Is this even a story?
Do we care?
It's a story because it's one, it's one team.
If it's not the Cowboys, if it happens at Eagles camp, it's not an issue unless you live
until it up.
Yeah, but as far as national, if it's the Dallas Cowboys, um, and if, uh, if you're the,
if you're the LA Lakers, if you're the Yankees, if you're one of those teams that is here
we are, we're a merit, we win a lot of titles, you're going to be out in the forefront
like that.
Yeah, I just, to me, I heard about this yesterday and went, don't care.
It doesn't bother me.
Get on the field and play football.
And especially Roy Williams, are you, have you got the skins on the wall to be that guy?
Yeah, I don't know if it was so much him not wanting to do it.
I think it was who it was.
I think if Roma walks up and goes, hey kid, carry my helmet, I think you would do it.
I think it was just, it was, it was Roy Williams.
I, I disagree.
I think it would have mattered.
I think Des Brines, that cocky, well one thing about Des, he hasn't played productive football
in two years.
But that is to me in his head that doesn't matter.
He still does Bryant.
Yeah.
I mean, it's one of them deals that he's a good player.
He had flashes.
You know, he gets hurt in as a sophomore then last year to deal with Dion and his agent.
I think he's a top 10 player that fell.
I'm glad he didn't go and try to get, I mean, I'll be honest with you last year after
week one, I had him has a dark horse for the Heisman.
I think I thought he was a guy that had he played the full year and been that productive,
could have snuck in there and they have ruined a day for somebody.
Well, one thing about Des is he, he was the first one on the field when they broke Camp
Saturday.
So you have to sometimes think that he is going to, he's, I think he wants to be good.
That's half of it.
Yeah.
He made one mistake.
He got, he got little, little ballsy with a, with a number of choice.
And that was the next point.
And they announced that we have a good friend who is a big fan of Michael Irvin for those
who don't know Des Bryant wearing the number 88 worn by Michael Irvin when he played for
the Dallas Cowboys.
We have a good friend who is a huge Michael Irvin fan knows more probably about Michael
Irvin than Mike does.
He told me he didn't have a problem with it and Mike has signed off on it.
I just, I don't know.
I didn't mean that our friend had, he didn't have a problem.
Our friend had a huge problem with it.
Mike has signed off on it.
I have a problem with it.
Yeah, you know, I, I do.
I thank you to you.
I earned a respect or I'd be getting the same mold as a Drew Pearson or Michael Irvin.
You've got no business at all aware in that, that number and, I mean, if you're Chad
Heady, do you wear 13?
I don't think so.
No, that, no.
One thing that's funny about all this is I've got a, I've got something to ask you.
Sure.
Just more pressure this year.
Romo or Phillips.
I would have to say Phillips because to me, if this team doesn't at least go deep into
playoffs, he's done.
Romo I think can bounce back.
I don't know that Phillips can as a coach.
I think he's, he's not a guy that a lot of people see as it's somebody who leads a team.
Romo's at least got a little bit of, of personality and what did Samuel Jackson say in Pulp
Fiction personality goes a long way.
And but, you know, you look, I look at Wade Phillips and I think of my middle school
gym teacher.
I don't think of a coach of a football team in the NFL.
Yeah, I don't, I think it's Romo.
I really do.
Do you, everybody knows that Phillips is out.
I think it's Superbowler Bust with Jerry and his new stadium, the Death Star and all
that.
So them and their neighbor are both going to lose their, their coaches this year.
I think Romo, I think he has to get out of the Danny White deal.
He's got to get in that same meal because it's all back in Aikman.
He's got to get that.
I don't know that he can do that.
That's putting an awful lot on that kid.
It'll remain the Eastern Illinois as ever.
He went, I'm going to tell you right now and you don't have to believe it.
I think if he can get, if Des Bryant can get 45 to 50 catches, this team's in the NFC
time game.
Wow.
Yeah.
I would say let's mark that, but it's now forever etched in stone.
So it's, it's there.
Yeah.
If, if he can get 45 or 50 catches and I think he's going to be more of a weapon in the
return game more than anything else as well.
I mean, I want the kid to do well.
Don't get me wrong.
I just, I want to see, I want to see him get, A, get through the season unharmed.
B, get through the season.
And we'll talk about that because we want to talk about scheduling and things like that.
Coming up later when we get closer to the NFL season because the Cowboys alone, their
last six games are brutal.
Brutal.
Yeah, they drew it the Vision Winner schedule for sure.
It's not rigged and I've heard a bunch of people on National Radio, it's rigged to rig
schedule.
That's the Vision Champion schedule.
That's just the way it is.
I mean, you're going to play some games.
I think it's going to be pretty sad.
And I'm going to package this.
Everybody should know they play New Orleans on Thanksgiving.
And that's almost going to be a home game for the Saints.
Martell speaking of the Cowboys, Martell has been it.
Really?
For those of you that don't know the background here, Martell has been it a couple of
weeks ago.
He decides he's going to do this thing called Marty B. TV where he does little skits.
And he does one where he puts on a bakebeard and pretends to be Osama bin Laden saying,
I'm Osama, I'm making bombs.
Come find me.
After he'd already been reprimanded once by the league, now this idiot.
When he was dating a girl decides he's going to send her naked pictures of himself.
And yes, that is a southern word, naked.
You don't do that?
No.
I prefer a video if all of you said, but no kidding.
And so now she's, of course, published these pictures on the internet.
Is this guy that good that he can stay with the team after all this?
I don't get it.
It doesn't make any sense to me.
Well, he's a 61st player, taking the draft in the second round from Texas A&M.
I still think you can trade him and get something foreign.
I mean, I still think you can trade him and get a high second round pick.
I don't know why you're holding on to him.
I don't know.
It doesn't make any sense to me.
I know one thing.
When he came out of A&M, they were calling him the next Tony Gonzalez.
I know that workout farm.
When he came out of A&M, that's all I heard is how he was going to be such an impact
player.
And they all the cowboy stolen, they stole him at 61 and that's all you heard.
But yeah, he was supposed to be one of those top, top guys.
Okay.
Let's move on to baseball, keep this thing rolling.
Another thing that came up between the time I wrote the run sheet and the time we went
on air, the Chicago White Sox retiring the number of the Big Hurt Frank Thomas.
And I think he's a great player, he's a great White Sox liking.
Is he on the list?
Is he on the con-saco list?
I'm going to be more specific, not V-list, the con-saco list.
I haven't heard of such.
I just think he was so big.
I just, he got to think about it.
One thing about Frank is he is your, he is your, he can be a posterior if you know what
I mean at times.
He can be real, he can be a charmer if you let him.
Got him, you know, his, and I'm shocked at the GM of the White Sox would do this because
if you remember.
Oh, that, that was not a very pleasant part between Brian Williams.
Like Frank Thomas went out there and rode around in a convertible Lexus and waved his little
hat in here.
No, he and Brian Williams got real sideways there at the end of it.
He was, he was shown the door rather quickly there and then went to Toronto or was it,
yeah, Toronto then Oakland and just was done.
Light Frank, great, I mean great player.
One of the greatest, I think if I had a top 10 left of the greatest players in the 90s,
he's on that list.
I mean, the dude crushed the ball.
Don't get me wrong.
I just, that's about it.
That wasn't, wasn't anything spectacular defensive.
I mean, I think they went to, did he went, I got a question, I mean this happened so fast.
Was he on that team that beat Houston, did he get a ring?
Don't get me lying.
I want to say no, but don't get me lying because I think they lost to Toronto and the
ALCS.
And I want to say, I know we got a guy on the, on listening at Willis and that absolutely
that will keep stats on this.
Lonnie, how you doing, brother?
Yeah, just send me an email if I'm wrong here, but Lonnie checked this.
It was at 91 or 92 that they beat that Chicago got beat by Toronto in the, in the ALCS.
Clubhouse podcast at Yahoo.com is the email address.
Um, where we at?
We are currently, of course, if you know that we do this, we, we record this every week
in my office at my house, I have a TV in my office.
We currently have it on ESPN news as we are looking to see if Arod hits home run number
600 on his 35th birthday as we are recording this.
Here's the question.
If he hits, I mean, that's not an, it matter, if it is a matter of one.
We can't be at 5.99 and be 35 and that not hit 600.
Do we officially go on the quest for 7.63?
Does that officially begin or do we wait until 6.50?
Do we even wait until 700?
Uh, I think you started at 500.
Well, then you started at what two years ago?
Yeah.
Now more than that.
How long was that about three years ago?
Cause I was in Baltimore watching him play when he was going after 500.
He's a guy that is going to be hated forever and really of it's the money.
He was the first guy that really, I mean, he crippled this local, our local franchise has
never got over his signing here.
And see, that's where my personal dislike for him begins and I'll let me explain this
and kind of preface this a little bit.
When he signed with this team, he did this big press conference where he said it's not
about the money I believe in this team.
That was the day I bring to Alexandria because I liar and I'll tell you why.
I beloved Atlanta Braves offered him 52 million less and they were a contender at the
time.
Oh, yeah.
And he told them to go pound sand.
So don't sit there and tell me it's not about the money.
Yeah, I lie.
I don't know him off the field.
Never met the man.
Um, I like it.
I got a month to be done.
Okay.
First, next guest next week, we're going to have a run.
No, I got a, I've got a, you know, technically the mic stands are raw.
Does that account?
Great player.
Once again, I think and I'm not going to put Ruth.
I'm not going to put him in that, that, that level.
But where he's affiliated with right now doesn't, doesn't hurt his legacy at all.
I mean, once you, once you don't know stripes, it's, people look at you a little bit different
and it's a little bit different, different ballgame when you go there and, you know, there's
another Yankee on that 600 list that people love to compare him to, but I don't want
to go that far.
I think a rods, a rods good one monkey got off his back last year was games, he won the
World Series.
Yeah.
I mean, that was, that was the big one for him.
Um, I think, of course, ESPN takes this and runs with it.
Now we're going to make predictions.
When's it going to happen?
Yeah, except for some, you know, the hip thing, he's had some injuries.
He's missed chunks of games in his career, but when it's, you know, last year, I didn't
think, think about the A-Rod, he's not a clutch player.
He's not a guy to play else, but buddy, last year, there's nobody on base, last year he
proved me wrong.
I think that he, um, he was a guy that really showed up in some key moments last year in
that World Series, for sure.
But speaking of 600, there's only been just a handful of guys and let me, in folks, their
household names.
There's not some guy that nobody's ever heard of.
No Ross of Arvis.
Yeah.
Or as I give the name, the age is one thing to keep in mind, A-Rod 35 today.
Not on the list yet, but 35.
Willie Mays was 38.
When he hit 600, Willie Mays was.
Wow.
Babe Ruth was 36.
Okay, that sounds about right.
I mean, that's, that's not too far, but one thing about 36 in the night when he played,
Old Mill, Old Mill walkie, cocaine, hanging out with ladies all night, spoken cigars.
A-Rod's not putting down on his body.
Not that we're aware of yet.
No, that we're aware of.
Not until consent.
Keep that in mind.
Keep that in mind.
Um, so, so was 38.
Hope, so, so hit that in this town.
Was it here?
You know what?
At the memory of the Texas Rangers.
Of course it was because I was there that night.
What am I thinking about?
Yeah.
I was there with a good friend of ours.
I've got the certificate.
Oh, there's some establishment.
I've got to get off, I've got to get off the crack.
Um, and then Hank Aaron was 37.
The great, Hank Aaron.
As a brave.
Yes, sir.
Uh, Barry Bond's 37.
Well, I'd like to see the paperwork on that.
And uh, Griffey was 38.
Okay.
So they're all or Griffey's one I want to talk about.
Griffey was a guy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'll pick on Griffey.
Take number one player.
The 90s.
Bar none.
If you have that.
You're not getting arguing for me.
You're not getting arguing for me.
He's the greatest player of the 1990s.
Hands down.
And I think in real quick.
Baseball in A-Rod will be the youngest to 600.
Yeah.
That everybody knows that.
And then a real quick Andre, the hawk.
Uh, Dawson, Hall of Famer.
Cut for a lot of years.
Munch all exposed.
They had to put somebody in.
The resume is a week at best.
And then why do you hurt Zog former manager of the Cardinals?
Um, he's in.
That's a little space ball.
Quick hits.
Outstanding.
And let's just take just a couple of minutes on basketball.
Because really there's only one story of note this week.
CP3.
Chris Paul.
Nolan's Hornets.
Rumors of a trade.
He has a meeting with the owner last night.
The owner comes out after the meeting and says.
There was no trade talk at all.
Does that mean he's not leaving New Orleans?
Or does it mean he just doesn't want to talk about it?
Well, the thing about Chris Paul is.
I just don't know.
I don't, I think he's on a totally different level.
Then what we saw just go down in Miami.
Yeah.
And I'm not a Bosch fan.
I think Bosch is just kind of he's just.
I would he got lucky.
I want Bosch on my team before Chris Paul.
And I know there's going to be people saying I'm.
I don't know I'm talking about.
That's fine.
But I like Chris Paul.
Chris Paul did a lot.
He put a New Orleans organization on his back and got them to the.
Close to the Western conference finals.
Um, liking.
I think Orlando.
He wants to go there.
That'd be a good fit for him.
Yeah.
But does it?
Can you go down South a few hours?
And can you really compete with those three guys with him?
This is me with a huge smile on my face right now.
White Howard and a bunch of role players.
And I really think somebody in the East better.
This is going to start looking like circa 1991.
If you're not careful, you're going to see a team like the bulls.
Just run a muck over this league for seven or eight years.
Because somebody in the East better.
Hasn't had that question in February.
They better.
I want to put the card before the horse.
They better form something.
They they somebody better get better because I don't see.
I don't I don't see how it would.
I would want to be a New Orleans either.
But one thing about it because the franchise is struggling so bad.
It's it's under new ownership.
Coaching.
There's been dicey.
It's a team at one time almost moved to Oklahoma.
It's.
It's just a weird thing.
Well, they did for a bit.
Yeah, it's a weird team.
It's a weird thing there.
And I don't know if.
And I'll be honest with you outside of of the Saints.
I don't know if you can really go and go.
I'll honey.
We bought Saint season tickets.
Let's go buy a hornet season tickets.
That's just not an option there for some people.
Yeah.
They have a hard time filling out that building.
And I think he knows that.
Once again, don't want to be 31 with bad knees in no ring.
Yeah, exactly.
And I will say that.
Because that's the truth about some of these players.
And I think CP three fits into that category.
Yeah.
I'm not going to be 31 looking back.
Well, man, I love New Orleans, but I don't want to ring on my finger.
I want to back up a little bit.
I really have to learn to read illiteracy is a problem in America.
We've got a couple of other baseball hits that we want to talk about.
First of all, let's go backwards and talk about last night in Tampa Bay at our
fifth no hitter of the year.
Are these things becoming a dime a dozen and let me preface this too by saying.
Is it because we are now being more scrupulous with steroids?
Is that is that what's now the pitchers now catching up to the hitters?
I think it's a lot of it.
What's funny is this year is you really haven't you haven't.
It's been just obscure teams and obscure players.
Yeah.
You know, it's been guys that I couldn't have picked out of a lineup opening day.
And a lot of these both winning and losing are coming with Florida teams,
which is weird.
Yeah.
Man, I'll tell you.
It must be something of the weather down there.
You know, Matt Garza, he's had a pretty stellar year for them all year.
And he's been a guy that, you know, Tampa's an organization that has really put a,
I guess, a little country statement of Claude and the buttermilk down there in that
AL East that that's no longer going to be a two team horse race anymore down there.
I mean, that was a Yankee Boston.
You went a couple.
We went a couple.
We went for 30 years.
Y'all win once.
And then Tampa kind of jumped in and went.
Whoa.
Yeah.
Well, there's another team in this division.
That's a team that don't.
I said it told Rob months ago.
I watched Tampa because they got a good organization.
I think it's solid.
Now they're going to have some issues and contract from the seasons over.
But if they can keep that team together, they're going to be a, they're dangerous.
Well, market three weeks from this, this episode, I will have a report coming back from
that stadium to tell you how bad drop I can.
A field truly is as I see them take on the Orioles.
But again, I'm going to see train afterwards.
That's all that really matters.
Okay.
Now, is that the drops of Jupiter?
Love that band.
Great.
Pat Monahan, I believe, was the lead singer of that band.
Also, something I saw on sports in the last night I thought it was interesting.
Tampa Bay now has a shutout.
The Metz still don't have one.
A shutout?
I don't know, hitter.
I thought it was, I thought it was a no hitter.
I didn't know here.
Got to get my terminal.
That's right.
Well, when you're the, when you're the stepchild.
Oh, it's a real song.
Meet the Metz.
Greet the Metz.
Come on out and beat the Metz.
Isn't that how it goes?
Man, they're bad.
You know what?
They're actually playing good baseball right now.
I mean, they're actually done a lot that other people didn't think they were going to do.
Hosting cardinal right now.
Hosting.
You know what?
I saw.
I've been to Shay.
Been to Shay Stadium.
And I don't tell you if anybody here has been to Shay, you know as well as I do.
It's probably one of the weirdest stadiums I've ever been in.
It's not one you got to worry about anymore.
No, it's parking lot.
But what's cool about it was, you know, you see the world tennis over here where they
do the US Open.
Ah, yes.
And then you look back and there's John Six made famous, the old Six Train.
Uh huh.
And then there's, there's Manhattan looking over Queens.
And there's Manhattan.
And they know there's on the McDowell's and Queens.
Are you looking for Brooklyn Queens?
No, the Metz are bad.
Bad.
That great ballpark.
I just, that's a team.
I don't know.
I think it's not 1985.
I think the year that they played that subway series with the Yankees.
I think that that was, man, I just, I think that was it.
You know, that was, that was a buddy of ours.
You know, Bobby Valentine.
Bobby V.
Coaching that deal.
And I almost pulled that off.
I almost pulled it off.
Not very, not much.
But rumor to become into this town.
I've heard those rumors.
That's what coming back to me and just team if they fire on Washington.
Why would you?
I'm saying that I've heard the rumors.
That's all I'm saying.
In Bobby Valentine's defense, I will tell you this.
If he has the wild card, they're almost, they're close to a playoff team every year.
If the setup is what it is now in 1987, 88, that era, the Rangers are at least a playoff team two out of those four seasons.
He was not a bad coach.
It's better than Japan.
You want to title there, sir?
Really?
You want to make, you want to argue semantics of the Japanese league versus the American league?
I thought everybody was itchy rowing that Japanese league.
That's what Bobby said.
That's what he made it like.
I got a bridge in Brooklyn, I can say.
Let's see if you really buy that.
What George says, the motion front property.
In Arizona.
Okay.
Now, before we leave sports, of course, we want to talk about the standings of Major League Baseball.
Where do we sit?
We know.
We are after the break.
That's big.
We just saw on ESPN news that the Ravens drafting Terrence Cody.
He did not pass his physical, so that kind of side railed us a little bit.
We're going to keep an eye on that story for you as well.
Back to the standings.
Well, you know, it's, we're after the break.
This is when teams usually make moves, trade deadline.
There were some people that did one.
We touched on a little bit.
Show one.
AL East.
It's the, it's.
Man, Tampa.
Tampa gets it the one and one and a half to and Yankees just.
Yankees just put it in drive and they're going again three up on Tampa.
And this is as, as we are recording right now.
In Boston's fall back to seven.
Wow.
And I think that's a little too much in that division with, you know, New York is.
It's pretty back to it.
Probably they've got at least two more series to play though, don't they?
Tampa is the second best team in baseball and are three gangs by the Yankees.
The second one.
So yeah, I mean, it's one of the mirrors that it's going to be.
I think and you're in your champion comes out of the AL East for me.
Central Chicago one up on on Minnesota.
That's going to be a, that's a yo-yo.
I think that's back and forth, back and forth.
In the West.
Hey, the Kool-Aid.
It's in the refrigerator.
I've stirred it.
Are you, are you starting to drink?
Oh, no.
You're not starting to drink the Kool-Aid.
Are you really?
It's all nice.
It's all nice, but I, you know, I'm, I'm real weird with, with drinks.
I could go pour it down the drain tomorrow.
So don't.
Texas up seven and a half.
Still early.
I, that's, I can't put it.
There's something I was thinking about yesterday.
I want to put this in its proper framework.
Right now, the magic number is 57.
Okay, think about that.
Okay.
We've got a long way to go.
And there have been bigger collapses with less games in the season.
I'm not buying it yet.
I love the fact that this team, these Rangers are having fun.
The fact that they sold out all three games over the weekend.
Over 140,000 fans.
Great.
Talk to me in September.
Now I heard that Sunday night game.
What, nothing to brag about.
I wasn't there.
Not what he did.
And, you know, another, I guess a surprise.
Atlanta is now blue into four and a half over, over.
Philadelphia.
My braves.
Welcome back, boys.
Yeah.
I mean, that's, I guess that's a shock.
I mean, a Bobby Cox team having good pitching shouldn't be a shock.
Ever.
And then this had to change today.
St. Louis is now one up on the reds, which we, that's going to be back and forth.
And another surprise in the West.
Yeah, but with St. Louis playing the meds right now.
Let's be honest.
Add three games, sadly.
Yeah.
And then San Diego, three and a half on the Giants.
I said it before.
That sounds like a, that sounds like a point spread there.
San Diego, three and a half.
That, that, that Atlanta.
I just, San Diego, I can't buy them.
I just can't do it.
No, they're so young.
And they're, they're led by about four former Rangers.
I'll say this one.
San Diego.
Great camouflage uniforms.
Love the camouflage.
Gotta give them up.
Gotta give them up.
It's all I'm saying.
I'm not, I'm, you know, I noticed something here.
I know a lot of these, I'm glad.
Are you a fan of the third jersey, the ultimate jersey?
Absolutely.
As long as it's not with the Dallas stars we're using for about three years.
The bowl, the cow, the scar.
Don't even get me started.
Yeah, there was there.
It resembled a certain thing that we don't want to talk about.
Yeah, it had a resume once to something.
And then the wild card.
Tampa Bay.
They five up on Boston, which I'm telling you.
That's a team that I think all Tampa's got to do is get in.
It's just like what would we say about the Yankees for years?
They don't have to win the division.
They just, it's like, dude, don't, you don't have to win.
They just get there.
Yeah.
And then do what you do.
And that's to deal with Tampa.
I think all they have to do is get in the door.
And it could be dicey.
And in the, in the NL, giants a game and a half on the reds.
That seems to, that might change as we're on the air.
That changes minute by minute of what they're doing over there.
They rod over two as we are at top of six right now.
Yeah.
How that's going to go out.
We always end sports, at least for now until the season happens.
And we were talking about this earlier as ESPN was doing their PAC-10 preview.
I hate it when they do this because it, I told you earlier, it just makes the hunger worse.
I'm so ready for college football.
Who you got this week in your cliffhanger, sir.
Well, I'm kind of going off the demographic here.
This may, this may affect some, some people.
There's a group of people that I hope are listening that joined the page this week
for one of these teams.
My first one is a team that I don't think gets a lot of respect.
They could, they nearly, they, they made some noise.
That's University of Iowa.
That's my, that's what state I was born in.
So you have not had my attention.
Iowa, you know, big 10 surprise last year lost the Orange Bowl to a Georgia Tech team.
Marginal.
Marginal.
Could that be the worst Orange Bowl match I've ever?
Yeah.
Because I saw that and went, that's a beast.
You know what? I don't even know.
I may have some idea.
She know what?
That's so minuscule.
They might have won that game.
You know, that's how, that's how really they're not on the map.
Yeah.
If you think about it, I, you know, I know Georgia Tech had a spread offense going
and had a lot of stuff going.
You wishbone really tricked it up.
But that's a Kurt Franger's team that they will just put their head down and knock you out.
Some losses here.
A typical Iowa guy.
First round.
Offensive tackle.
Big corn fed guy.
His name was Brian Beluga.
Did you had linebacker?
Isn't that a kind of caviar?
Beluga.
I don't know.
I've never had it.
Okay.
That's your real.
That's my, yeah.
That's my wheelhouse.
Okay.
Now get money on this show.
Got a green room full of it right now.
And then, you know, there.
I was one of those teams, you know, Pat Anger, Anger, linebacker, led the big 10 and tackles
in Amori Spivy.
Another great corner.
Let's, let's, let's be honest with you folks, we're talking about the big 10.
You are what you are.
Yep.
Oh, ended up with a Ricky Stans get quarterback, linebacker, Jeremiah Hunter coming back.
And then, you know, the defensive tackle.
Now this is going to be their strength.
It's going to be on defensive line with, with Adrian Claiborne.
Once again, we're talking the big 10, the schedule.
Add Arizona.
Add Michigan.
Add Penn State.
And if you're an Iowa fan by season tickets, because North Mesquite high school looks worse
than you're better in your home schedule.
That is a local high school where we do the show from, by the way.
Yeah, they're, they're y'all's home.
Yes, it's bad.
But you know what?
They can't recruit.
They can't recruit like, and I know how state of Florida and Oklahoma attacks.
I always think of that.
You remember the scene in Wayne's World where they had the magic screen and they went to
Delaware and it was high, we're in Delaware.
Again, I was born in Iowa, spent the first five years of my existence in that state.
It's the same thing.
Yeah, and it's, you know, I had, but you know, as bad and up and down as they are,
I have to say BCS at large because of the weak conference.
Yeah.
I think that they can win the games they should win.
And if Michigan, I'll get to you later down the road.
But if they can win a game at the big house, I don't think they lose a game.
They dodge, they dodge Ohio State this year.
Yeah.
So they dodge the biggest.
Would you hear that Ohio State story today?
Maurice Claret once again.
In the world.
Has an old state.
Has an old state.
He left, doesn't he?
I'm not going to go that far with him.
He was a fan of the Grey Goose and I liked him.
Not the spruce goose, but the Grey Goose.
Oh, Grey Goose.
And then the team has a lot to rebuild on defense.
But I'm still, I, well, I'm giving you.
I'm giving you a little bit there at the BCS at large.
Now there's the other side of this deal.
That was enough.
That was the heads.
Now we're going to the tail.
Okay.
And hey, once again, I like to wake, not, hey.
Family and Arkansas.
Hope you're listening.
I have to go, I got to go with them hogs, man.
I do.
They're on a downturn as what you're saying.
I just, well, maybe not downturn.
I think might be just a little bit, a little bit overrate.
I don't, I'm not, I'm not buying, but I'm not selling.
I'm kind of, I'm going to hold my chips.
And then, um, one of the music city ball last year, you can see
Scarlett.
That does anything for anybody in this music.
The music.
It's not the gay lord.
These hotels, music city ball.
Yeah.
That doesn't think for anybody.
That was their bit.
I'm going to go to the pop of johns.com.
Lost, you know, lost a lot of offense last year running back.
Michael Smith.
I mean, we're talking an SEC team that really had a lot of weapons.
But man, when you're playing against that war of attrition over there,
um, landed Crawford, young wide receiver, and then, uh, Malcolm Shepard.
Here's where they, here's where they might have a little bit over advantage of a Florida.
They have a quarterback coming back.
Ryan Malin that led the SEC in passing last year that I think is pretty good.
Uh, and along with his favorite target, Jerry's rice, right.
And then linebacker Jerry Franklin, who was a, who was a young, young and upcoming last year in the, in the SEC.
But the same thing you dodged Florida.
That's true.
You dodged the biggest, the biggest dog in the yard until somebody, Alabama, them the two biggest dogs in the yard in that conference.
But you don't dodge the other live in Fayette, no, um, September 25th, Alabama.
You got to go to their house.
No, no, they're coming to your house.
I, I won't tell you that's coming off the heel of a Georgia game that could make or break Mark Rick's coaching there.
I don't think that's even a factor.
I think he's done.
But I just, I've watched that little game.
Um, and then of course here, here, here at the desk star, you got Texas A&M.
Does that do anything for you?
These, the South West.
Jerry classic is what they're called.
Jerry Bowl.
I'll be at the house.
I'll be honest with you.
I'll be at the house.
I'm at the tonight's time game that I'll be, you know, hosting here.
If you support City Cafe, I'm going to ski Texas every Friday and Saturday afternoon to two.
But, um, again, not afraid of shameless self promotion.
Anything else you got on that?
Hey, boy, old miss.
Let's again, I don't know who just lost their quarter back to Oregon.
No, no, no, vice versa.
A soulies transferring.
He was the one that was arrested out in Oregon.
Okay.
That's right.
He's actually coming in to Ole Miss.
I just like to see as a horrible disease.
And he can play immediately.
And I think that the game changes in that, that part of the SEC prediction.
The same cotton bowl music city in independence.
I just can't go Arkansas.
You're going to win the SEC.
I can't give them that.
You can't do that with a face.
Because until I said this last week, until you beat Saban and Meyer, I ain't got no love for you.
Until you got those skins on the wall further.
Somebody else can walk into hotlanta and play in that dome, play in that game and go sponsor by Chick-fil-A.
Yeah, hot spicy had it.
But you know me, I'm a spice whip.
When it burns through the sign, I'm a little, I'm a little leery of that.
It wasn't really burned at this.
It wasn't?
No.
Trick photography.
No consistency.
Lack of weapons.
And to me, honestly, Mallet's a head case.
And I just think he's so inconsistent.
And I remember coming, oh, he's the top.
He's the number one NFL prospecting league coming this year.
And I guess music city.
Yeah, I just don't see it.
And if please, if you have any team, I would love email it.
I will cover any team and I'll dig down.
And if I messed up on I will lose in the orange bowl.
Let me know I was kind of looking forward to the roles.
I think I'm pretty sure George Tech won that game.
Yeah.
But yeah, if I didn't, please email a team.
I'll research any team and put them on here.
Clubhousepodcast at Yahoo.com.
We love your email.
Zero alliances.
You'll know.
And I'm saving ours for last.
Yes, sir.
So we'll get, we'll break down our teams last.
That's going to handle our sports talk for this week.
We go into entertainment talk.
The first thing we're going to talk about, brand new CDs coming out today.
There's a couple of them that I saw on the list.
Very hard to find lists of upcoming CD releases.
I don't know why.
It's going to be forever.
First up with accompanying apparently a movie coming out soon.
The soundtrack to Step Up 3D.
Here's questions.
Question number one.
Did we have too many unanswered questions from Step Up 2?
And the number 2, The Streets.
Which then had too many unanswered questions from Step Up.
Which is a franchise I have not seen have no desire to see.
That was my first question.
What is a Step Up?
It's some kind of a dance street dance.
The kids today with the clothes and the hair.
Remember the cheerleader movie where they were fighting.
But they were kind of dancing and doing all that.
Bring it on.
Bring it on.
Bring it on.
Were they younger?
Was it Kirsten Dunston?
I want to go out on a limb and say that does not win a Grammy.
I'm sorry producers, writers of Step Up 3.
So I shouldn't have invested in that.
No, if you thought stocking Step Up 3 other.
You're not going to win a Grammy.
I don't think it would be there that night.
And we're going to go from one of the spectrum to the other on this next one.
Brand new album from Avenged Sevenfold drops today.
And the only reason I mention this.
Avenged Sevenfold.
Very popular with the kids with the clothes and the hair.
Again.
Yeah.
However, if you know who Jeff Dunham is, the famous French reliquist.
If you've ever seen him live, he has a guy that comes out and plays guitar on the songs they sing.
His kid is the guitarist in Avenged Sevenfold.
So I had that's the reason I mention it.
It's again, if you know me, you know I am the king of random information.
And that is about as random as it gets.
And I think somehow you were Kevin Bacon and at the end of it.
I'm not sure it works.
But don't know just a ton of them.
They're pretty heavy.
Pretty heavy.
They're probably out of my wheelhouse.
Probably.
Probably so far out of your wheelhouse, they're almost back in it.
Yeah.
That's how far out of them.
I don't know much about the Avenged Sevenfold.
I have heard some of their stuff and I'm really not in.
Hey, hey, if you make a record, you're going to make some money.
So I guess I got something.
Well, this next one, almost in your wheelhouse, we have the return of one of the great R&B groups of our time.
And if you've ever been to my show on the weekends at Sport City Cafe in Mesquitexus,
whenever somebody sings a song by this next group, I always say that this next group is an example where the whole is much greater than its individual parts.
Absolutely.
Never was a fan of Cisco solo stuff.
You want a fan of the song song?
Let's just say there was a misinterpreted lyric in there for me.
That was very, very dark.
Okay.
Man, he had some hair.
He made Rick Flair look dark at it.
Yeah, he did.
He died that thing flat.
Joker had hair, man.
In the dragon, they were the dragon.
But Drew Hill has a brand new album out called In Drew Pendence Day.
I had to say that very slowly and phonetically, so I said it correctly.
I might check it out, but I don't know if it's a purchase.
Because I do like Drew Hill in my bed, one of the great R&B songs of the 90s.
That is, yeah.
Very strange video, but a great song.
Where's their roots?
Where's their roots?
Where are they from?
Oh, don't get me lying.
What's their block?
So-so deaf, I would say, probably Atlanta.
Because they were on So-so deaf records.
So Fat Joe has a brand new album.
Now a lot of people know that.
That is Big Pun.
A lot of people get the two of them confused.
Big Pun is no longer on this planet.
So Fat Joe's the one that's still alive.
He has a brand new album out.
I like a lot of his stuff.
You know, what's love him in a shunting great song?
Good.
He's done some good stuff.
You know, Teresquad lean back.
Great song.
Enjoy that.
I don't know much about.
Because Joe and Pun did a lot of stuff together.
They were both in Teresquad.
You remember when Fat Joe left Atlantic?
Wow, that's such a local bit.
Wow.
We apologize to those of you that don't live in the Dallas area
because you just heard that and went,
this has been the craziest show I've ever listened to.
And they've only done three of them.
Interesting bit on this next one.
This next one.
One of the seminal albums of my youth.
I had this album on vinyl.
One of the great performers of our time
taken way too soon.
Oh, yeah.
The legacy edition of Stevie Ray Vaughn
and Double Troubles,
Kidding Stand the Weather.
The title track alone I could listen to on a loop.
Now you're getting back.
Now you're getting back.
This may be something I go check out.
See what they've done with them.
I'm sure it's remastered.
I'm sure it's nice and digital now.
I want to go see what the deal is on this.
Yeah.
I mean, if you're out, you're crazy.
Indeed.
Local guy.
Been to his memorial down there.
And he's actually his grave is here in Dallas.
And I've gone way too soon.
Helicopter crash.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
Last one we're going to talk about this week.
A guy that you are a fan of.
I consider to be,
if you've got to rank him in his band,
I would put him at the bottom of the list.
Ringo Star, live at the Greek theater.
You know, as long as he stays away from anything beetle.
See, do you mean like as a solo artist?
Yeah, I don't need him to say that.
Hey, dude, I don't need him to say that.
Paul.
Paul was saying Paul can do that because Paul rode all that.
Ringo, I think, stays away for it for that reason.
Yeah.
Hey, heck of a drummer.
Great drummer.
I mean, and hey, it stayed relevant.
And I think that's one thing
whenever you're a part of a super group.
And I tell you guy that wasn't part of a super group.
Somehow, he stayed relevant.
And that's that Brent Michaels.
Well, that's another story for another time.
He was just in, in town here in Dallas.
In cowboy mouth.
I heard they just really sold out.
They're playing, they're playing in much,
and they're, they're playing the Grinada here
in a couple of weeks, which is a much,
much, much, much, much, much, much, much,
much, much smaller.
The cowboy mouth?
Yeah, they are.
Yes, sir.
What's their bit?
Um, they have mouths and they look like cowboys.
I got nothing outside of that.
That's all I got.
I think that there's a female in the group.
I know that.
Now, obviously, this is a live album from Ringo.
Yeah, that's a Greek theater.
He always has something.
Well, the thing is, he always has what's called
an all-star band.
He will pull people, like Sheila E played percussion
for him for like five years.
I mean, he will pull people into his band
that are people that you know.
And I'm going to do some more research
I want to see who he's got with him on this go.
Yeah, I mean, I'd like to maybe hear some of that.
We may have to preview that here in a couple of weeks or so.
Once again, no beetle, and I'm in on him.
As long as, but with the beetles, always in.
Always in.
Yeah, change the game.
Change the game.
Movie releases this week.
Big release on Friday this week.
Um, I've got tickets to a screening Thursday night.
I'm still on the fence, whether I'm going to go or not.
Dinner for schmucks.
First of all, unstable title.
Let's just start there.
I've been to a few of those.
Yeah, and you see I've been there too.
Um, based on a French film,
Bruce Lee based.
I'm told that.
Yeah.
Bruce Lee based.
But he's not much to do with it.
It might get a little too, um, I don't know.
Little too uncomfortable, maybe.
Yeah, it looks alike.
It could go a lot of different directions.
Being a guy that was a victim of practical jokes when I was younger
and picked on quite a bit.
Yeah, a little.
It looks like something.
But Paul Rutt plays a guy who is trying to move up in his company
and in order to do so, he has to find an idiot to bring to a dinner party
with these guys that they do once a year.
We talked about Jeff Dunham earlier.
He is in this film.
He has a mustache and it's very, very strange looking on him.
But he is in the film.
Now, this is the Carell film.
Steve Carell is the, is the said schmuck.
Another one of these said schmucks is Zach Gallifonakis,
who is everywhere now.
Man, that guy's just blown clean up.
Blown, hey, but hey, do your thing.
Hey, I'm mad at you.
Yeah.
Um, also one of the guys from Flight of the Concords.
Jermaine?
I believe it.
No, Britt.
Britt.
And his name is Britt, VRIT.
I'm not.
He tries to do this to me every week.
And he almost gets me.
Um, also this week for the 13 year old teenage girl crowd.
Movie by the name, by the call Charlie St. Cloud.
This is the latest offering from one Zach Efron.
Basically what happens.
He's a kid who, he's teaching his little brother how to sail
and his little brother ends up dying.
And so he's kind of, he bonds with the ghost of his little brother.
But then he needs a girl and the more he spends with the girl,
the more the ghost phase.
What's that?
What's that?
A brother?
A Casper?
Really?
That the real, the full-length movie.
What's that?
A kid's brother?
Casper's just Casper.
The friendly ghost.
Do we have to turn, do we have to try to turn Casper into a mockingbird?
Really?
Well, I know the best way Zach Efron could sail this movie.
College musical.
Well, you know, he did, he, he's trying to break away from that
because he was originally cast in the lead of the remake of Footloose
and has backed out of it because of that reason.
And, and yeah, and there's Julian Huff is involved in that.
Is that fail?
Is that fail?
In, in Footloose?
She's playing the opposite.
In Footloose?
Yes.
Really?
Yeah, does that work?
You now have my attention.
Because I'm gonna be honest.
Hot.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hot.
I don't know if she was a singer, but she can sing and she can dance.
And she can kind of carry a tune in the bucket.
But isn't that really all you need anymore?
Pretty spiritual.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, no.
Is it clean?
Is the movie, this is Charlie St. Cloud office is gonna be clean.
Yeah, it's family oriented.
Yeah.
And it's the 13-year-old.
Nothing wrong with the family movie.
The 13-year-old girl's already seen the new Twilight movie 140 times.
She needs something new.
You know, it's been three weeks.
Let's get something else out there.
Yeah.
Something you mentioned and this wouldn't be on the list if you hadn't mentioned it
a week or two ago.
We now have the release of Cats and Dogs, The Revenge of Kitty Galore.
What is she revenging for?
Wait, I need to know that.
I'm sorry I thought you were talking to me for a minute.
I didn't think I was a little confused.
Again, I saw the first one in a theater with like 12 years ago.
It was one of those.
It was the middle of the day on like a Tuesday.
And I wanted to go to the movie theater and that was the only movie that was coming on anytime soon.
And I'm really making excuses and I really shouldn't be.
I saw it.
Yeah.
You know, one thing I always wonder about.
Are they using their real voices?
These cats and these dogs?
No, Mr. Foxworthy.
They're not.
Okay.
Can we kill it?
You are killing me today.
You are killing me.
That's a apologize to all my fans out there.
Next up, a movie I think you may have some interest in.
I don't know how much you know about Get Low.
This is not a movie based on a little John Song.
Okay.
Let's get that out there right now before the jokes happen.
Robert Duval, Bill Murray.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, I'm here now.
Sissy Spasick.
Basically, what is her role?
She's the kind of sort of love interest to Robert.
Robert Duval is a guy who's like a hermit.
And he decides one day he goes to Bill Murray who's like an undertaker.
And he says, I want to put on a funeral for me.
But I want to do it before I die.
Because I want to see who shows up when I want to see what stories it is.
Somebody had an idea.
You know, and I'm kind of interested.
I'm kind of interested in this.
It's all the trailer for this.
For sure.
And I mean, is it, is this comedy?
Is this drama?
It's kind of, I don't like it.
It's a little bit of both.
I need my Bill Murray funny.
I don't need him.
But he's, he's got that cookie.
What movie was he in that he almost pulled off an Oscar?
Lost in translation.
That's it.
With the great Scarlett Johansson.
That's right.
That's right.
I like him.
But I just, I need him funny.
I think him it kind of like when Robin Williams like it.
I like it.
One hour photo.
He just got real.
Like too creepy.
Dad of the year.
Whatever that one was.
He did a couple years ago.
The extra man.
The extra man is the next one.
This has just lost his name.
Kevin Klein plays a guy who is a older man's.
An older, an older lady's male escort.
And he takes on a younger man as a border.
And then he kind of teaches him the ropes.
It's, it's very royal tin and.
So almost almost American jiggle o2.
Kind of.
More pretty man.
Can we go there with it?
Without without the, without the cheesiness.
It's, it's, it's, it's got a real royal tin and bomb.
It's kind of a weird offbeat sense of humor feel to it.
Last one this week.
We see it.
When it's on cable.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The greatest.
Nothing on here.
I think I'd pay for.
Um, yeah.
I can understand that.
Last one this week is somebody called the dry land.
This, this features, um,
Wilder Valdorama or the fizz guy.
He's in this.
Also with America Ferrar from Ugly Betty.
She plays the wife of a guy who comes home from war.
And he's got PTSD.
Really?
And how he deals with readjusting.
It's very, very dark.
We kind of, I saw a movie other than I called Brothers.
Is this kind of on that same line?
Because that thing got here.
It might, yeah.
I think it kind of is.
It's got more of an indie feel to it.
It's filmed in El Paso.
Texas.
So this is the, seeing America Ferrar with a stick's
Texas accent is a little strange for me.
But I might see it when it comes on like independent film channel
or we talk in desert storm.
We talk in normal.
No, it's current day.
Current day.
Raki Ferrar.
I'd like to see Fizz or Wilder Valdorama play.
And apparently the list is real.
The Fizz list.
That's a real thing.
Because you can hear it in this role.
Did you like that show?
Did you like that show?
I've said, I will contend this.
And we talked about this last night for those of you
that were with me watching raw.
There are two shows on television that I don't care if I've
seen the episode a thousand times.
I will always stop down for.
Family Guy.
That 70 show.
That's the list.
I enjoyed the 70 show.
I had the last couple of seasons were rough.
Well, because everybody left.
Once Tofer Grace was gone, that show was here.
So this?
Aston McKamacop.
I would see.
But see, Aston Kutcher in that role.
Funny.
Yeah.
Funny.
While we're talking about movies, let's do some movie news
here.
Again, Comic Con this weekend.
One of the big announcements.
Joss Whedon.
If you are a geek, you know who he is.
This is the guy that created Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
This is the guy that did Firefly.
One of the greatest series of our time.
If you've never seen Firefly, go check it out with Nathan
Filion.
He is going to direct the Avengers.
They had the entire cast on one stage this weekend at Comic Con.
You know what?
I'm going to let you guess because I didn't put this on the run
down.
What do you think the budget on that film is going to be?
It's going to have to break.
It's going to be 150 million or more.
You're exactly right.
150 million dollars is the budget on this film.
You're talking Scarlett Johansson.
Mark Ruffalo.
Robert Downey Jr.
Samuel L. Jackson.
I mean, this thing is going to get dicey.
Chris Pine.
When I've always said, I mean, make it.
Show me a trailer.
I mean, that's been my whole thing with the Avengers.
I think it works.
I think it's a great idea.
But show me it.
I have to see something on film.
The release date is May 4, 2012.
So we have already begun to spin wheels on this thing.
Green laner and same exact budget.
I looked that up today too.
150 million.
We got to may have somebody make that suit.
We talked about that suit last week.
Also, the director Guillermo Guillermo.
I can't even say his name right.
Guillermo Del Toro.
Guy that did the first or second blade film.
Guy did the Pan's Labyrinth film with a user ago.
Trip was Trinity.
Yes.
Trip was Trinity.
That is correct.
Directing a new version of the haunted mansion.
If you know anything about him, he works weird.
And but he has said this is going to be a darker film.
And I quote, we are not returning Eddie Murphy's calls.
So if that tells you anything about where he's going with this,
my question is how much propus Disney going to give him?
When you're going to say we're going to take one of our most popular retractions
and we're going to let you make a horror movie out of it.
I don't think he gets very far.
You never know though.
Man, we think and a lot of people.
We think of Disney as kids and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
I think Disney as a company and as they're doing entertainment.
I think it's changing.
It's constantly changing.
And I think they will push the envelope, push the envelope.
In my opinion, the smartest company on the planet.
Yeah.
I mean, they're not stupid.
They've been very successful.
I just don't have a lot of money over the years.
I just, I think you could see a situation where they go,
you know what?
We'll roll out a PG-13 as a Disney.
I'm sure they've done it before.
I think this is going to be real hard PG-13.
But yeah, I don't know.
Disney will never sign off on an R.
You never know.
I didn't think they'd ever go PG.
We'll never see a slip or anything like that.
You know, we'll never see.
Saw?
Yeah.
No, we'll never see.
I was scared.
Well, I'm kind of going to go this.
I've already kind of stellar stepped the language balance here once and I.
You're not going to see any close sexual stuff.
Oh, so you're like seeing a woman's slip?
Yeah, okay.
Now I'm with you.
No, you're not going to see that.
You're not going to wear those anymore?
I don't know.
We'll address that here in a little while when we have our guests showing us.
But I'm a little, I've always, I don't know.
I've never, I just don't think you'll see that happen.
Disney will let it go just about to that.
But they're never going to put their name on an R movie.
Okay.
DVD releases and Blu-ray releases, of course, this week.
At the top of the list is the newest version of Clash of the Titan starting Sam Worthington.
Liam Neeson's in this thing.
I was cool with it until I saw the trailer before it came out theatrically and I was like,
hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm.
I saw the, I think I wanted to see it, but I did.
You know, that may be a, that may be an HBO wait for me.
Yeah, I never saw it because it was right.
We just had 3,000, 300, 300, sorry, 300.
And it was just right on the, almost the heels of that.
Yeah, I see.
Why did we get, Holly?
We're 100 people.
100 people.
300 didn't do much for me.
Why?
All those Zack Snyder's new film he's got come out sucker punches going to be.
But it seems like we got real sci fi medieval style like Thor.
That's why you said Thor works.
I think it does because you've got that mindset and people's now.
And once again, I'm touching my head in here with no camera.
I think that's why you get that mindset of, sorry, anytime Hogan's on the screen now,
it blows me away when I see him.
Brother.
Yeah.
But it works.
I like, I thought it looked cool.
I thought it'd do more money.
Well, the thing about Thor is this weekend at Comic Con they did show the helmets.
The helmets will happen.
I'm, I'm reserving judgment till I see a trailer, but the, the pictures I've seen,
I'm okay so far.
Because again, you can make that not based in reality because it's not Captain America's going to be harder to do.
Oh, for sure.
Hey, you know, but I did.
If you did, if you do read some stuff that came out of Comic Con about that is we're going to,
it's going to start World War II.
Yeah.
Because that's the work you came in.
I mean, we're not, I think a lot of people thought, well, what'll happen is after the Thor movie,
they'll find Captain America in a block of ice and we'll just go from there.
No, it's not going to, it's not going to be like that.
It's not going to be like that at all from what the, the little bit of a script.
What they, well, no, what they may do though is the same thing they did at the Iron Man 2 where they,
they have the block of ice there.
And then you have to go back and tell the beginning of the story.
Yeah, okay.
I could see that.
But yeah, I like the, did you read that?
Which one?
Yeah.
Now, if you read that, Tommy's doing, Tommy Lee Jones is doing all the voiceover of the trailer.
Oh, really?
And it's him.
They only showing from the waist down.
That's because they have such a nice, that costume.
Also this week, I'm going to say this next one, I'm interested.
A new Batman animated feature called Under the Red Hood,
which from what I've read, if you are a comic book geek and I am,
after Dick Grayson stopped being Robin.
And he, he and Batman got in a fight.
There was a kid named Jason Todd.
Would you stop trying to hang yourself with your own, uh, headphone wire?
The next Robin was a kid by the name of Jason Todd, who everybody hated.
So DC took a vote whether he lived or died.
Joker.
The fans, yeah, the fans overwhelmingly wanted him dead.
So they did a thing called a death in the family where the Joker killed him.
If I'm not mistaken, the Red Hood is the story of that
and how he actually never died to became the Red Hood.
And now he's a vigilante who kills and the Joker gets caught.
The Joker gets caught between Batman who doesn't kill and the Red Hood who does.
I'm interested.
I'm not going to lie.
Yeah, I mean, they've done just so much with comic book animation.
It's the hot property man.
It's a hot these.
If you can, you can put anybody's name on it.
That's a superhero and make it.
I mean, it's anything that that industry seems to touch.
I mean, it is, it goes crazy.
Um, in anything you say, I like to check it out.
Batman and Joker, I mean.
Yeah.
Um, don't know much about the Red Hood.
Do know the killing joke.
What a bomb or something like killing jokes a whole another subject.
Yeah.
One of the greatest graphic novels.
And who did he kill in that deal?
No, he didn't kill.
Um, let's just say we want to save that because that's whole crazy story.
Repo men this week, which is about a couple of guys in the future where you can
have organs replaced, but on a lease program.
And when you get behind on payments, these guys come and collect them.
Well, then the main character, I believe is Jude Law.
That's correct.
It gets behind on one of his own.
So he becomes hunted.
Don't care.
Um, saw it.
You actually saw this?
No, no, no, no.
I wanted to see it.
Oh, wait a minute.
I wanted to see it.
I wasn't going to review here.
It's a little confused.
Um, I wanted to see it.
Um, it, it looked okay.
It looked too far out.
Yeah, well, the year before there was a movie called Repo, the genetic opera,
which was basically the same story except it had Paris Hilton singing, which.
I don't kill you.
Yeah.
It looked too, it looked too far fetched for me to go.
I'll, I'll, I'll pay for that.
But I, I thought it graphically, it looked great.
I thought there's only so much red corn syrup I can do.
Yeah.
Two hours later, that thing looked bloody.
Also, this week a special edition of the animated GI Joe movie from the 80s.
Loved it.
Wasn't afraid to kill somebody in this thing.
Well, you know, I got to story about that.
One of your, one of your favorite people.
I got a little story about that.
Don Johnson is in this.
When I saw this, it, because if you're a, a child of, of our age, this was like the movie.
Um, you remember this movie.
I don't say that.
This is Heathcliff.
Never got released theatrically though.
Never got a theatrical release when straight to, straight to video.
Because when I looked this up, this was when, I guess the Hasbro was making Heathcliff.
That's why I said Heathcliff because it was like in the same, that's a poor man's Garfield right there.
Yes, it's a very poor man's Garfield.
He was orange.
He had stripes.
Hey.
Didn't he?
But, you know, but you know what, as an animated series, better than Garfield.
I always thought Garfield's an animated series was very weak.
Comic strip?
Great.
TV show?
Bad.
Because he never sounded like I thought he should have sounded.
You're probably talking about the death of Hawk in this movie.
Falcon.
Well, Falcon was the Don Johnson's character, but Hawk, yes.
The reason why they did that was they were supposed to come out first.
Right.
When it was going to be a Transformers movie and they were going to kill off Optimus.
Yes, they were.
Well, they did, actually.
Yeah.
Because he became a Artemis product.
It became a mess and they said kids were weeping out of the theatre when this was happening.
And Gianjo just went kind of status quo, but the character did come back.
He was in a coma.
In a coma.
They did kind of dress it up.
But do you remember Sergeant Slotter in this movie?
Yes, he was.
And that's what killed his WWE contract if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, that's correct.
And let a leader of the renegades, Mercer, Red Dog, and Taurus.
You also had Burgess Meredith in this movie as Galobulous.
Right.
He's either Mickey or the King one.
Out.
Another interesting movie.
And I watch a lot of trailer shows.
I watch the Ultimate trailer shows.
So Robert Molonski and Rich Stumbles across this.
Yes, I am a viewer.
Operation Endgame.
This thing has people, again, Zach Gallifinakis showing up again.
Maggie Q, who was in one of the newer Bond films.
I believe she was in Casino Royale.
Very hot.
And a very...
You can't sing that movie.
Very will kick your butt and not even think about it twice.
And Ving Rames.
Basically, the concept here is two teams of assassins work for this company.
And the company brings them together and says,
OK, here's the deal.
We got one contract left.
Whichever team's left alive wins it.
And so they basically go after each other.
Looks very cool.
Direct to DVD.
Not a theatrical release.
Looks interesting.
I'm going to check it out.
I mean, I'll buy it.
But that'll be a rental for sure.
Ving Rames still finding work.
Like him.
Marcellus Wallace, brother.
You feel that?
This would be his pride messing with you.
Oh, I just...
That's the TV version.
Maggie Q, what's her...
What is her ilk?
Did I?
Am I here?
OK, nobody else.
Did I just say that she was in Casino Royale?
Maggie Q, that was her name?
That was the girl that fell down the elevator shaft.
Oh, it's a car.
OK, OK.
I'm thinking of...
I was thinking of somebody else in that movie.
Are we doing this?
Is this on?
Hello?
Just one.
Last one.
And I thought...
I put this on the list because I thought you might have some interest here.
The entire series of 21 Jump Street, finally available for home use.
I'm not...
I'm not going to lie.
Loved this show.
And I've got a question for you.
Was it that great?
Yes, sir it was.
I just...
The first thing it did is it introduced the world to a young man by the name of...
Johnny Depp.
Yes, Johnny Depp.
Peter Delewies was his part.
Now, the thing about Johnny Depp's character, his name was Tom Hansen.
That was my youth director at my church's name.
So there's kind of a connection there for me.
Holly Robinson Pete sang the theme song when she was still Holly Robinson back then.
And then you had Dustin Nguyen.
Was that the agent guy's name?
They have like every...
I mean it was like the Justice League continue.
One thing is very...
Everybody was represented.
Just saying no, we're going to take you off the streets, come back to the house.
Also, you know, and was not afraid as one of your favorite shows, Fastlane.
Was not afraid...
That should have won every freaking Emmy.
That's a whole show.
We're going to do a special edition on Fastlane three hours if it ever sees the light of day on DVD.
Was not afraid...
And just like another one of your favorites, Miami Vice, not afraid to use the music.
One thing I always remember, there's an episode where Johnny Depp was a student in a high school.
And he was kind of falling in love with one of the teachers.
And he was being real moody and very dark.
But as he was like sitting like on a pier, they played simply Red's Holding Back the Year.
Which is one of my favorite songs ever.
Now, didn't that show kind of show the evolution of Johnny Depp as well?
Because remember, the first rule, clean cut rule.
And then as this show...
The great, the great Richard Greco.
Yeah.
So that got a spin off show with that character.
Yeah.
Man, he was...
That Johnny Depp, he is something else.
You could put him in any, but he could play Santa Claus and win an Oscar.
You know, he was originally slated.
You know, he was originally slated to play Speed Racer.
In the mid-90s when they were going to do Speed Racer, he was going to be spilled.
I've actually seen that film.
With Chowskies, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Man.
That's all I'm saying.
Did that...
How do you screw up something in my youth like that?
Man, that was...
I remember, that was a mess.
Says the guy who sat through the second and third matrix films.
Man, that was...
You know, one thing, back to the...
The Johnny Depp thing.
Or another night.
But if you've seen this pirate, see any of these stills from this movie, is this just him?
There is no Orlando Bloom.
There is no...
What's her name?
Maggie Q.
No, Maggie Q.
If you look off of the distance, there's a white flag currently being run up the pole.
No.
What is her name?
Kirill and Knightley.
I'm getting fed from our special guest, so you'll meet in just a moment.
Kirill and Knightley, also not in this one.
But there's gonna be mermaids and zombies.
That's all I know.
Hey, I'll tell you what, I've seen all of them in.
I just, man, the third one was so long.
Well...
And it's so boring.
My end is...
15, 20 minutes.
I get to just what's going on here.
Pirates, fight, and shoot, and can.
Yeah.
But I liked...
I did see the first two in completion.
I liked it.
I liked the first one.
It's kind of like the matrix.
I liked the first one.
The second one was kind of like...
And then the third one, I was like that.
Now, the third one, that...
Curse of the black pearl?
No, that was the first one.
Okay.
Deadman's chest was the second one.
Yeah.
World's End was the third one.
World's End.
We need them here every week, when we stumble on stuff.
Yeah.
We need a stat boy.
We need Tony Riali.
I want to plug it.
We've been kind of loose tonight.
A little bit of a different show here tonight.
There's a lot of things we've...
I will say there's gonna be a little bit of editing in post.
I think I'm gonna have to at some point.
For the first time, we're actually going to edit in post.
But now...
Let's get to the reason why you called.
Let's get to the reason why we're here.
Yeah.
Let's get to the thing you've waited for for almost 70 minutes now.
It is about to be on.
We are doing something this week.
And when I originally had the vision for this podcast, my God.
Six months ago, have I been working on this thing?
It's gone through many, many changes, many phases.
For those of you that don't know the true origin of the way the podcast is now,
we were gonna have a big deal.
And there's gonna be a lot of people involved.
And people came and went.
And Cody and I, we've known each other for over a decade.
And we can sit around literally for hours on end and just talk about stuff.
Just rapid fire back and forth back and forth.
And one night, I just said, you know what?
We need to put this thing on wax.
And so now you get the fruit of that labor, if you will.
But one thing that has always been a constant since my inception of this thing has been the wrestling part of it.
Part of that is we are very fortunate.
And the fact that there is a group of us, there's probably what 10, 12 of us by now.
Get together every month and watch the paper views.
Take the mental image that you have and throw it away.
Because there is an element involved in this particular group.
That, personally, I'm kind of proud of.
I'm not gonna lie.
I tell you, yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm looking around.
Yeah, yeah.
This is something you're not gonna think is this kind of ilk, for sure.
Yeah, and what's even kind of funnier is today is the first day that these individuals have met Cody and Cody has met these individuals.
And they both parties have felt that they are the snuffle up against to my big bird.
They did not believe the other exists, but now we're all in the same room.
Y'all need to get up now, because it's your time.
We have some young ladies that join us for wrestling paper views.
And they have very, very, very interesting opinions on our sport.
And we're gonna do this once a month.
We are going to have the ladies wrestling round table.
This is something that I don't know has ever been done.
Something that I find to be very interesting.
If you don't, don't care. It's my show.
So the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna introduce you to all three of the ladies that have joined us.
We're having to share mics here, so it could get a little weird as we face back and forth.
But we're gonna have them introduce themselves, and they each have their own affiliation here.
And what I mean by that is there is a bias to each one of these three.
So we're gonna have them introduce themselves.
We're gonna start on Cody's into the room and work our way back towards me.
Char, go ahead.
Hey, I'm Charla.
Get up close to it, because I can hear you.
Hey, I'm Charla.
Inversed in a nation all the way.
Can kick a puppy. I'm still gonna love him.
You did hear that first.
Hey, I'm Tanya.
Jeff Hardy fan all the way.
Don't care where he goes. I'm gonna follow.
And someday they'll give him a belt again, I think.
What are you following the jail?
Absolutely.
Yeah, I know.
But he but what now?
And here we go.
But one thing I will say about Tanya, when you mention that,
she has actually been fairly unbiased in that deal.
Now granted, we all do blame his girlfriend.
But, because I still contend she had something to do with this thing.
But she has actually been able to say, you know what?
I'm not saying it ain't possible.
There's a bias, but it's not a full-blown bias.
And I'm Misty, and my affiliation lies with Randy Orton.
And I've got a little bone to pick with you about that.
Yeah, that was...
We'll get to that.
When Misty first heard the first week podcast,
out of nowhere I get this text message that just says,
we have to talk about this.
I'm like, what?
And I'm standing with you.
I stood with you in week one.
I'm standing with you now.
That's all I'm saying, Cutie.
You might want to go over there then.
I'm checking...
Yeah, this is my house.
I'm just making sure.
I do pay the mortgage.
I'm not sure.
But the first thing before we really get into,
because what we're going to do is we want to introduce you
to the ladies, and then we're going to kind of work them
into our normal conversation.
This is not going to be a specialized deal,
because I don't have to do that with these three.
They know enough about the business,
if for no other reason,
then hanging around geeks like me for this long.
They have opinions, and they can work themselves
into our conversation.
But my first question is really...
And the only question I'm going to ask before we really get into the meat of this.
What brings you guys to this...
Besides the obvious men running around in their skitties.
I think Skitties, I think Elizabeth Shoe and the St.
I don't know why.
But what brings you besides the obvious?
What brings you guys to it?
Anybody can go.
I think it starts with a sense of nostalgia.
You know, growing up on this.
You're like, nine.
How can you have nostalgia?
You can have nostalgia.
Charles is not nine, I promise you.
You know, it's a good versus bad, good and evil kind of a thing.
There's always someone to root for.
And, you know, I like that.
My guy has usually always good, of course.
Well, we may not know that for much longer.
Even if he goes bad, I'm still going to follow him.
And we're going to talk about that probably next week,
as we hear it towards Summersland,
because I don't know if the heel turns going to work.
I just don't.
You either want to go ahead.
Dead air, dead air.
Nostalgia?
Absolutely.
Watch it with my dad.
But what I really love is, since I was little,
I used to watch soap operas with my grandma.
And that's indefinitely our sport is that.
It is a male soap opera.
There's no doubt in my mind.
Fantastic.
I come back wanting to see what's going to happen the next week.
I like that I personally think they're athletes.
They take bumps every night.
I think it's amazing.
And I love watching.
Well, I challenge anybody to tell me that they're not.
Well, there are a lot of people out there.
And that's one thing I do want to address at some point, too,
is it's not fake, it's scripted.
And there's a huge difference there.
Huge.
Then Aflac cannot do this.
You know?
Yep, right.
Matt Damon could not do this.
These guys can.
Yeah.
To me, that's the difference.
And the baby oil, that keeps me coming back to...
Can I get the white flag any farther up?
Is there a taller pole we can get out of the field about?
We have more than two.
You knew it.
Yeah.
It's true.
I think I've been very tame.
You know my father's listening.
Well, we're one.
Two minutes in.
We got a long way to go.
Tony, what about you?
I think for me, I agree with both the ladies.
But I also think it just kind of appeals to my more violent nature.
I'm going to be real honest.
That's one way to push it too.
It just does.
I kind of like the violence.
And we're going to deal with that in this particular episode.
Because, you know, you being a Jeff Hardy person and talking about the violence.
This is going to get real interesting of what's going to happen here in a couple of weeks.
And we're going to talk about that company first.
I want to talk about TNA.
Something Cody and I have been talking about for months.
Let's just say it first and foremost.
And basically, we're just going to talk.
And if you guys want to jump in, jump in.
Can we now officially, at month nine, call the Hogan Bishoff experiment failed?
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
They had high hopes for this thing.
Like they were going to run in and make it WCW circa 1996, 1997, NWO.
Hey, you don't have the talent.
You also don't have the money.
Yeah.
But to me, also, it's, if Bishoff had stuck to, I'm not going to be on TV.
Because if you remember, his first statement was, I'm not going to be in front of the camera.
Me and Jason Hervey are going to be back here, producing stuff.
That's a wonder years guy.
Yes, it was.
Wayne.
He was Wayne.
That's one of my favorite shows ever.
Hey, he's not caring who he is.
Does anybody even show that?
Does it nicknite even show that?
If you're not Rosanne or George Lopez, you're not on nicknite anymore.
Does he still show a tool time or performance improvement?
Oh.
Okay.
Verification.
I feel better.
Yeah, I just, man, I really, and she's, we're going to talk here in a minute.
She's strapping her horse to another wagon.
That's also going to, not, I don't think, going to work out.
But you know what?
Hogan, go away.
I like you.
Go away.
Well, now apparently he's doing some kind of a panel to her with like beef cake,
cocoa, beware, where they're going.
Oh, you know, brother, fortune 500 companies are coming to us.
Brother wants to come do their events where it's just like a Q and A.
By the way, Aaron's rent to own 20, 24 months.
No interest.
We were him and Ackman.
Yeah, I thought we were going there.
I'm sorry.
Oh, you can rent things.
You can, brother.
That's another local.
I'm sorry.
And I got a question.
That is, that's a non-wrestling gig.
That is an absolutely, and it is a speaking engagement thing.
I need to see them in the ring.
I mean, I don't need.
I don't want to see them at all.
No, don't.
No, you don't.
That's like triple.
I'll come to your house.
I'm going to talk to you guys about stuff.
No, I need Paul.
That's true.
And we'll talk about that here in a minute too.
But one thing I want to ask you guys, and Cody and I kind of talk about this ad nauseam.
Let's say tomorrow, we remove the Hogan, just Hogan and Vischoff, because I think they've brought in some good guys.
I think Anderson's got talent.
He's put kind of a different flavor.
And the bit he's working right now?
Love it.
Not going to lie.
He's a guy that you, and you know me, I've never cared for him, his bit.
I like the microphone.
I did like it.
He still does it.
But it's different when it's somewhere else.
It's not working for Vince.
It still makes me happy.
But can TNA be viable competition?
And I want to hear from the girls on this.
In my opinion, no.
I kind of feel like once you run your course in WWE, you go to TNA.
Are they the Oakland Raiders of professional wrestling?
Is that what you're saying?
That makes no sense to me.
But I try to watch TNA the other night to prepare for this.
About 15 minutes in, I fell asleep.
Really?
I can count on my hand a number of times I've watched TNA.
I'm not interested in anything.
I'm not interested in the live event if they come to town.
I will go to a live event just to say that I've gone and experienced it.
Watch me act a fool in front of 500 people.
I don't have a chance, but I'm not going to TV away.
I'm not going to build my week around it.
You see, I'm such a dork that I even DV our ring of honor.
And that's terrible product.
That product is atrocious.
Horrible announce team, bad production value.
They got Jim Kornet.
Outside of that.
I will think I love the announce team more than the talent on TNA.
I love TAS.
I'm a big TAS.
I like TAS, but TNA just buries me.
TAS about 1996.
And watching a little WWE classics on demand last week, we saw a little bit of that.
A classic ECW.
Who's better today or Michael Cole?
Oh God.
Would I rather be stabbed or shot?
Is that what you're asking me?
Pretty much.
Because if you held a gun to my head,
I've got to say TNA.
Because TNA at least has skins on the wall.
If you go back and miss the, I know a lot of yours is a very, very WWE oriented.
If you go back and watch a lot of the old nitros when TNA first came in,
he was pitched as the professor.
He, in my opinion, is single-handedly responsible for the popularity of Lucho Libre wrestling in this country.
When WCW brought in the Mexican wrestlers,
you saw so many question marks over announcer's heads.
It was ridiculous.
And Cody, you know what I'm talking about.
You and I watched this stuff together.
TNA came in and brought knowledge.
I mean, that dude dropped science on every Mexican wrestler they brought in.
You knew who he was.
You knew where he was from.
He actually did full vignettes,
where he would talk about the history of Lucho Libre wrestling.
So, I've got to give him that.
Cold doesn't have that.
Was were they from tattooed across their stomach?
Only right.
Only right.
I've got garland across my stomach.
You should admit that.
You had the, you had the, uh, the, the kernel logo.
Oh.
That was a joke.
Um, Hogan, when he first came in,
said that he was a game changer.
Those were his actual words.
In what I felt was a very strange, um, press conference,
because they had it at MSG,
which I thought was really ballsy.
Um, we all knew at the time.
That was not the case.
Is there a guy?
And because there is a guy that Cody and I talked about yesterday.
And I had to say that phonetically,
because somebody that listens to it makes fun of me the way I normally say it.
Um, is there a guy in your opinion that could be a game changer?
That, if they jumped from Vince to Dixie.
Well, the obvious one to me is John Morrison.
Well, I want to get to that.
I want to hear from them first.
I want to hear, I want to hear if they've got from it,
if they've got opinions first.
No?
Anyone be alert?
Something D-O-O economics?
Who do economics?
All right.
Well, let's talk about Morrison.
Okay.
Morrison?
I would, yes.
If I was Morrison, I'd leave the WWE after pairing me with our truth.
The myth?
I would be like, screw you, WWE, I'm going to go.
But see, for me, the missed thing kind of worked on the level of,
missed, missed had potential.
At the time,
Miz was a two-bit reality star that was hosting the diva search.
Morrison was able to elevate him.
And I really think Morrison kind of taught him a few things along the way.
But, and I'll stand by, all three of y'all are looking at me like I'm out of control.
But I really contend that.
Because Morrison, and Cody, you and I have talked about this.
John Morrison is Sean Michaels.
Yeah, very, very similar career path, you know, with a tag team,
one about, I'll put the ECW title and the Intercontinental title,
just about the same level kind of.
The last run of the ECW title.
The last run of it.
Um, but John's a guy that's weak on the mic.
See, I disagree there.
I think he's, I think the, his mic style is part of his character.
I don't think y'all, I don't think about it.
Would you, and I'll ask everybody in this room,
would you buy a pay-per-view if John Morrison's your main event?
In TNA?
Absolutely.
No.
I'm talking, I'm talking where he's at right now.
Current state.
No, no, I would not.
But even in TNA, I mean, they need more people with mic skills.
That is one of their big problems.
And I'm, and I'm getting another guy in there that can't do it.
And I'm glad you said that.
Because Jeff has no mic skill.
He does now.
I get it.
But where did he acquire them?
When he jumped to TNA the first time.
Because if you look at Jeff Hardy, pre TNA,
and then when he came back, you're looking at two different dudes.
Yeah, the thing about Jeff is he was a guy that,
he was shown Michael's one.
Yes.
And I said that when I said man, that's they're gonna try to push him and a tag team was very successful
To me Jeff had the wrong belt Jeff should have had this when he had the spinner then he had the big one
You would have put the world title on him. No, no, no, no, I will I don't know. I don't know if I put
I'll say to call 9-1-1 in this house. I don't know if I put
Any belt on him I think he heard state that he was I thought the intercontinental title was a good build for him that that you're right
U.S. I just don't know if I put the world title on him, but I think Jeff has always been better at chasing the belt
He's like triple H. Yeah, I
Feel the same way about triple H. He's a hunter. I like him and no pun intended
He's a guy that once he gets the belt if he's face I don't like him champ his face
I like him champ his heel because then you can't get away from it. Yeah, I like that. It's like Rick flair in the 90 days
He's a guy that Jeff with the belt is like okay completion
Yeah, there's never else to go. He is something that him and Shelton Benjamin the WWE are missing those guys and he's I'm sure
We'll have a hell of a cell. It's in Dallas a
$300 floor seats. Yeah, and the the money in the bank Jeff take a bump
Still will now will you take a bump in TNA? He has to that level I think I'm gonna win it on to that
I think he would if they put him in like an ultimate X now
He's on he's one of these isn't he's a handshake guy
He's no contract over there. He's telling Dixie and hope I'm gonna defer I'm gonna do for the time
Because I'm here a while there. He was working on a handshake basis. I think he now has an actual contract
Hope it works out for him. I don't think they're around in two years. I said that for a while
And I don't think he stays with TNA either way. I honestly believe Jeff will be back in WWE
I don't because of the travel schedule
He loves going to Orlando once every other week
Maybe taking a road trip on a Friday night to Baloxie, Mississippi then hauling his butt back to North Carolina
I think he prefers the light travel schedule that TNA puts out there versus WWE missing your shaking your head
He was offered a great contract. He had less appearances than the undertaker's got and it was well
It was $750,000, but only work in 50 shows
But again, you're still doing live TV. You have to do live TV every week. You have to or at that point
You have to do Smackdown every week
TNA does two weeks of impact at a time
You know last night. I don't know if you guys know this last night San Antonio got two Ross
They did two episodes back-to-back because they're in Belgium or something next week
Didn't see you learn from the volcano bit. Don't go here anymore. I mean stay here. We like y'all here
You know, you're a global company brother. It is the WWE universe
Which I've always thought was a very strange name
I
Still contend if Morrison if Morrison jumps tomorrow
He's got that belt before Labor Day
Because how if for no other reason how long can you have Rob Van Damme as your world champion?
Till Hogan decides he wants to belt and I still have made remember you remember the prediction
I made three months ago Hogan has that belt before bound to glory and bound for glory in October cuz that is their WrestleMania
Missy you're shaking your head
I don't think Hogan should be wearing belt. I don't think he should be ready. I don't think it's a matter of should
I don't think I think it's gonna be one of those well brother
It's gonna be great for ratings if I'm the champ because I'm Hogan and what he doesn't understand is he hasn't been Hogan in about 20 years
No, I think that's the worst thing he can do just like brick flare getting out there every week and
Sweating and wrestling and bleeding. I think didn't we have a flareless impact this week?
I'm pretty sure we had a flareless business. I agree. I agree. It's hard to watch him
That's why we have to go to classics like every week just to remind ourselves and just kind of give ourselves a palette cleanser
Damn it. That was flared. We saw a good one circa 96 the other day on the record
Yeah, and and you know and that's something I want to talk about when we're talking about Nexus and how the shelf life
Vince has to do something exactly and I'm gonna and I'm gonna package this
There's something Vince has to do and it has to happen either at Helen a cell or survivor series
And that's all I'm saying I'm gonna package that and you can you can you can get on the internet and you can
Conject all you want you can send emails to clubhouse podcast at yahu.com
I'm still not gonna tell you for another couple of weeks because that's how I roll
Like I'm that damn important. Okay
I'm kind of promo. I vote for him. Um, I
Didn't do you get the imaginary pen to hold
I'm gonna do my speeches in my right hand. I want to talk a little bit about angle
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Angle right now. He's in a bit where he's he feels he's working face
This is the longest not only is he working face. He's been working face for a while now the better part of the year
He's now saying I'm gonna
My goal is to beat everybody in the top 10 contenders list that Bishop and Hogan and Dixie came up with and if I lose one of these matches
It's like flair if I lose one of these matches. I'm done
That's what he's saying
My
My message to Kurt Angle and I love Kurt Angle the guys the guys the guys had a lot more longevity than most people thought he would
He's a health risk every time he comes from the curtain
Right off into the sunset brother because if you're if you're driving down the road and you look in that rear view mirror out there on the horizon
That's relevance and
Now he's talking MMA
Really for the last three or four months. He's talking like maybe he wants to venture into MMA
He will die in the octagon
Yeah, that's a taking back for one more run. I don't know that you will. I think he's too big of a health risk
I just I just one thing about Vince man. He will he'll bring you back
I'll give you legend money. I'll give you legends contract and even but even there you're walking a line is angle really a legend
Would you put him in the same sentence as Harley race? No
You know, but then again cocoa be where's a legend. Thank you. I will put him in the same breath as cocoa
A lot better but less risk more reward on that particular one
And that's gonna bring us to to my next point about TNA
Hard justice which
Let's just say there's other things that could have that same title
Um, that have brown chickens and brown cows when you put them right next to each other
It's now hard core justice which really kind of the same thing
Dixie has brought in and it's not using the name ECW is Vince just going
He's just talian and they're gonna send her a bill every month
You know only five million dollars for using the name ECW 140 times in the last four weeks
She has given Tommy Dreamer and I don't know how much truth there is to this I
Don't know if Tommy Dreamer really that was a rough noise there if Tommy Dreamer's really gonna book this thing
Because the guy can book
But she's giving them this is gonna be your pay-per-view this is gonna be and I'm here in rumors of
Super crazy. I'm here in rumors of Nova. I'm here in rumors of them actually bringing old ECW guys in for this
We're gonna get the band back together on that deal. Let me tell you it fails every single one of those guys are way past their front
The ECW I have a little I've followed that quite a bit 94 and through that
It was I think you're the only person in the room that's ever actually seen that our incarnation of ECW live it was
It was insanity. It was like a bunch of people had a death wish
They also didn't have a television contract. They weren't on network television
They got away with a lot of stuff that you're not gonna get away with you can't catch Jeff Hardy on fire
In DNA. You can't put nails in but let me ask you this
From my interpretation of this deal
It's not gonna be those guys
It's like Dixie's telling them this is your deal bringing your guys
It's it's almost like she's trying to do the original one night stand again
And you will never as long as there is breath in this body
You will never reproduce that pay-per-view because you and I both know that is the single greatest pay-per-view that's ever been put to the air
And I challenge anybody to prove me wrong. Well, the thing that's funny to me is everybody keeps
stomping all over
an ECW it's like it's some kind of hot commodity, you know Vince bought it and and owns it and owns it, but Vince bought it and killed it
They had they had some rough, you know Paul quit paying guys, you know the tat when taz left
That was he was one of the originals and you had robbing damn
Of course he was he was the last one if you remember he was the last one the last one to jump
Yeah, then you had the doubly boys they left after taz and it just became a super crazy couldn't draw heat if his butt was on fire
Not in tn. I don't I don't tn a
Wherever that that fails and it fails bad
And I think a lot of people with a lot of egg on their face. You know what it's gonna be hogan a bitch off going. Okay, Dixie
We want the book back. Oh here's here's my go get Scott haul out of jail. Let's let's get the book back
I'm in a lot this episode I think
My thing with it is and you and I and I've talked to everybody in this room about this
Dixie is tapping into a fan base that she has to be incredibly careful with
The ECW crowd it means like Star Wars. I hate to say that
Okay, well John Lucas isn't producing this one. This is gonna be George Lucas is not gonna produce this one
You are killing me this week. I just want you to know that I'm on a tear you've taken about five years off my life in this episode alone
But you would want anybody else touching that no
That's what ECW. It's a fan base. That's real touchy with what that is
And I've said it's just been and that's a fan base. That's either going to elevate her or decimate her. Yeah, there's no middle girl
If she screws it up, they'll take to the internet. Oh, the IWC will be going crazy for this. You know that means the internet wrestling community
Yeah, I feel real bad because I like Dixie Carter. I think
I mean
Maybe I'm alone in the room, but I think she's got a good business sense about her
I mean she's doing what she thinks it's gonna take. Well, she took a mom and pop organization literally
That the Jared's were running and turned it into a viable company. I will not disagree with you there at all
And I think she's I mean she's taking risk and yes, some of them are rather stupid on her part
But she's doing what no one else wants to do and she's a female
And a predominantly male run
Environment. I mean, I have a lot of respect for Dixie Carter. I do. I just I really hope
For her sake that she understands the risk involved here
Well, that's the thing. She doesn't have very much experience in the wrestling business
She doesn't go back. I did a little research last night on her and she's got listen to my girls
Tell me what you found. I mean she purchased the company for $250,000
Wow, and she went to she's from Dallas. Her parents helped her panda
Energy ink. I guess they're from here. Panda energy. Yeah, really
I don't know about that. I mean, I was I was not aware of that. That is weird
Um, but she's got no real wrestling back now do they still have offices here in Dallas?
I don't know because when they were here in tani and I went to the house show together
They had mentioned that they have offices. They're like the some of their bigger not their head office because their head office
Of course, it's a Nashville, but one of their big offices was here in Dallas
Which then begs the question why have you only done two house shows in this town? But that's a whole another topic for a whole other time
Um, I just man
This concerns me. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna lie to you
Well, they're grasping it straws is what they're doing. They're trying to pull anything
Out of the bag to make tna work
Does this make you give you any interest at all to watch that paper view? No
why
I'm not interested in really watching tna at all. Okay
So so so names and and I'm just playing devil's advocate here, right? So names like Tommy dreamer
rhino
Raven steve Richards
Mick Foley no the Dudley's they do nothing nothing. Let me tell you. I missed out a little bit on the ECW era
Just not a not a big fan of it. I'm not a fan of tna at all, but Tommy dreamer rhino those bring me in that makes that hurts my ears
I want to see that. I want to see hardcore. I don't want to see
The the stuff that tna is doing right now. I want to see chairs and you know post with barbed wire wrapped around it
That's what I want to see
Go ahead sir. I've got something that just came to mind hearing you. You're a scene of fan. Remember a scene of wins
We riot because I absolutely that's your ECW fan base
So is it going to be if Jeff wins we riot or well number one you can't be if we're not them wins we riot
They're not going to be able to go back to the Amherst on ballroom either
That's what made that so great. You know what I don't care who you are if you are even a casual fan of this business
Go to your video store. Do they have those anymore?
I don't find it somewhere where they got to find it on amazon.com if the Netflix instant queue has it
Find the very first ECW one nightstand
If you are even a casual fan let me tell you something Cody and I watch that together at a place called pugs his library god rest it so
We turned into seven year old boys for three hours of our lives
And you don't hear a mark you in I mean this was and
Again, I'll say it greatest pay-per-view ever and miss you. I'm going to send it home with you tonight
So you can watch it along with with your with your bread book that you let me borrow and a couple other things
It's I can like even if I try to describe this thing to you
That was as close if you could have put ECW on a national stage with production value
That's what this would have been it was that good
And um no titles change hands at night. Yeah, I think not the first one. I remember the second one when Edge put
Seena through the table and the whole crowd started to thank you. Thank you. Thank you
That that's the ECW if it hates him and I don't know why I mean
It's it's not like Seena's ever come out and said anything bad about him. They just is it a Boston Billy thing?
I
I think it's just you know, he's not their style. He does what the company asking the
He's the antithesis of who they are. Okay, I get that that makes sense to me
Like I told I've said it before don't see this during this for name is the company
You know what mark that
And don't in no respect what sad is she's a hundred percent right is turning to Monday night Seena
And you're not talking about that around continue to happen. They have to freshen up that character and do something with it
It can't continue status quo where he gets stale
But I can't buy seen a bad guy, but I also couldn't buy hogan bad guy. He pulled it off
That to me and what I think that may be a list one week biggest two moments in wrestling that may be number one
I mean I couldn't have bought hogan heel, but man he did it and it put 10 years on his career. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to debate you there
Seena's got a long long time. Yeah, he's like 14. He's got plenty of time
Um, let's talk a little bit about WWE. Let's move on from that now great stuff. I'm loving this. This is good times
Comic Con again this past weekend
We had if you saw go look at some pictures of the WWE booth from Comic Con. It was incredible
They've got a lot of new Mattel has outdone themselves with the brand new figures. They look amazing the detailist phenomenal
The entrance to their booth was a full-size replica
Of the undertaker as an action figure like you can see the you can see that where you would move
His legs and his arms, but they put the spinner belt on him which he's never held which I thought was weird
But somebody was there
Somebody was there who had a brand new figure for the first time that was well over years
He was there in person he was he was signing the figures
The new figure of him looks amazing. I was very impressed
He is the one the only
Except for Jay lethal
macho man randy savage
We we saw him
Underneath the WWE banner which is something we thought we'd never see again
He said one thing that caught my ear. Thank you miss you for bringing this to my attention
He said you're gonna see a lot more of me in 2011. Yeah, it scares the hell out of me
Because I hope he doesn't think it's a wrestling contract
These guys like I've always thought that which thinks he can still go
I don't think he does. I think savage gets it by this point. I think savage thinks he like Hogan and Flare is I think
I think savage is trying to sell a match. I really do and I sit on the phone
Wrestlemania next year savage Vince. I think you see and and you remember my reaction that was I don't want this to become
the
Vince fights legend series at WrestleMania. I just I think randy's wanting one last match in WWE
And I think Vince will give it to him
We've talked about the rumors of the Hall of Fame class in 2011 being all WCW
I can't put Randy in a WCW class because my memories of Randy are in that that point WF that was that was his bread and butter
So do you let him is he the GM?
You know what Jim Ross says is very well in his blog
Quit emailing me stuff about Randy Savage the Hall of Fame. Yeah, well. I'm sure with his figure. It just went up big time
um
Like Randy. I thought Randy Randy had a better WCW run than Hogan
In my mind. What was his beverage a choice?
Coffee
One of the greatest promos ever cut. You're done. Okay. Yeah, great. I mean just wasn't
And the one thing about savage he played a great psycho
That's always great crazy and I like that. But I think he's fishing for a match here. I really do
I'm gonna hold you that. I think he's fishing for a match here
And I don't even wrote that down on my note. I think he thinks it's a wrestling contract
I hope not. I really think that he is he thinks this is gonna be a way where he can get back in the ring
Well, let me ask the girls
Would you want to see savage go one more run?
No, no, it's the same thing you go into your name
It's a very it's a valid point and let me tell you something
You think flair's hair is white
Have you seen savage that brother is
You would have a gnash his hair is darker than savage is right now
You wouldn't jump to your feet when that music hit that none on the wrong. I'm not saying I wouldn't
If he came out cowboy hat glasses hold on here. We go
Sarah stole a throwdown
I mean to him being there that's different but to watch him get the crap beat out of him
I mean even my violence had the limit
I don't know that I could do that
Tanya Tanya was there when they they introduced or they said that Bret Hart was going to the hall of fame and I
Here's people were knocking on the door to make sure I was okay. They heard me on the street
Do I want to watch Bret Hart in this scene a team? No, I don't you're done. Well
Let's let's be honest the only thing he's gonna do in that match is put the sharp shooter on somebody and win
That's it. I'm okay with that
But and and also I think everybody in this room and everybody that's listening this deep into the podcast
If you are then you're at least a casual fan. We all know who that was supposed to be
Yeah, that's something we're gonna talk about here in just a minute because Cody's got a great theory
But I got a question for everybody here. There's real fast any macho memories here. Any and I know we're all I know we're about to say Saturday nights made event
Him George the animal steal for the love of Elizabeth when she was in the big
You know, he was a college professor
He taught like literature or something like he was big
He's talking about a contrast and
Now now third greatest WrestleMania match of all time
Him and steamboat WrestleMania three
Yeah, for sure
No, that was when steamboat was for the intercontinental title
uh
Steamboat caught him which I'm gonna say this and I know the giggles are coming
He he caught Randy coming down like and put him into the small package for the win
It was the first time you had to ever seem like a reversal of that form done to win a title match
And it was the greatest WrestleMania match ever until the two Sean taker matches came along
Oh
Mind WrestleMania five
Superpowers explode
Um no mega powers the mega powers explode because you know why savage was hurt
Um had a torn bicep can almost completely off the bone
Um Hogan would let him back out Hogan said sell me and
If you watch that match Randy carried that match with do you remember and if you remember the tape
He was his his bicep was taped because he was hurt and Vince goes hey man worked. We're trump plaza
Our trump tower. Can I have a plaza? Yeah, trump plaza. I was right and
Couldn't back out had to have the main event
Do you remember the promo picture for summer slam the year before where they're just all like
All beefed up and if there's a Elizabeth and she's standing in the front of them like she's holding them back
I always and you know what and I'll contend this
No one in this business
Whatever be class here
They miss Elizabeth that woman was absolutely not
We were watching that deal when we were watching that classic nitro the other night on classics on demand
And seeing her and and woman with flair
That woman I mean granted they were drinking champion out of plastic New Year's Eve flutes hard to be hummin
Flare yeah
So funny
So funny saying at the Adam's mark hotel and Daytona
God bless you wwe classics on demand
Please pay me to say that
There's and I want to talk a little bit about Smackdown
Because Frenchie did something last week that uh
Have you Frenchie is the big show that's I call him Frenchie. It's so long. He's you know what he's your leader
I'm I'm throwing that out you know what ring him up and I got no problems bringing up Frenchie every
Greatest ladder ever. Greatest ladder ever
He unmasked the mystery man in the
straightedge society Friday night
Whom if you
Read anything you know who it was
Welcome back to the wwe Joey Mercury going by that name going by that a named him that
Striker and Grisham Bose said that's joe a bald Joey Mercury like cue ball cue ball
So he's now unmasked punk and Joey Mercury
He tried to put the mask on and it kind of
It was very very stretched out his head. It was very
Frenchie love Frenchie and
D&A bound here we go here here comes my here comes my Vincent Noyance again
If you watch the beginning of Smackdown
For the love of God can we put it in grave nameplate on the stupid belt
It looks like they went to Home Depot and got those little black
Applicate letters and broke Cain's name on the belt
And it won't be there long is it because
We just forgot to get him one
Well, I've got so many opinions about that particular belt because Vince didn't create it
He wants to make it look stupid that it's a better belt or class than that belt
That
Sena's carried for so long, but I've also said that if Sena doesn't wear that belt he did
Now I'm talking about the spinner belt. If Sena doesn't wear that belt you don't use that belt
That's like putting the smoking skull belt on somebody else that don't do it
That's my deal with
Randy on raw
Randy's got a pedigree. He's got a history. He knows what belt. He needs to be wearing
Same one is daddy just you just put an idea in my head
Randy needs to have that big gold belt savage
Please kick Michael Cole away from the table and sit down
I'll never have him too color guys
I wouldn't care. It would make it would it would serve two purposes
I'd have savage and I wouldn't have Cole. What about savage in order to get the legend killer bit fired up again
Miss the eye defer to you because see that that divide you on a certain level
It does. I don't want to see it because it's two of my favorite guys in the ring
I don't want to see Macho man wrestle at all
I agree I would love him to take Michael Cole's place
Absolutely, it would keep him out of the ring
I just want to hear who yeah, but you know what even better yet
He turns on Vince goes to TNA and manages Jay lethal win. That's that's for the win right there
Logo Laporte. Logo back black machismo. One of my favorite bits ever
When he went when he wanted to be the the mega powers with Hogan on TNA that made me happy
Yeah, and his and I don't know if you ever saw the footage of him doing Rick
I did
When Rick flair says that kid does me better than I do me
I mean even did the whole stop right in the middle of a sentence and talk to somebody in the audience
I mean it was genius
Love that man very underrated
Okay, that's gonna wrap up this part of the of the show
But we have to do something. Oh, you're you're signaling me so let's get into that triple H nexus thing
Okay, you want to do that now we can do that now real quick
We got time for it 151. Okay
Real quick. I've heard a rumor now just don't don't think that I think you're fixing to see triple H either lead nexus
Join nexus something to that ill because they are rushing him back hurt. He will not be in the ring
That is a genius move. I'm with you on this and we talked about this earlier today
I haven't had a chance to talk to you guys about this. I think you could go a situation where in hear me out
I think it gets trip relevant again. It gets him on television vents needs ratings right now
He has to get he's one of the he's one of the studs
Cena triple H
Orton that's raw that's raw's roster for the most part
Um, I like the idea of him and Barrett being together for a little bit trip wins the belt kind of an evolution feel everything's about him
Boom the turn, but you also had another part of that
That I thought was interesting too
Is trip wins the belt. Let's say at hell in a cell
Barrett wins the other belt
Yeah, I and I could see that happen into if you really want to sell this you put all the gold in that
organization
And you have Cena and you have Orton and edge and all those cats and then I get what I want
Which is them on both shows and I think yeah, I think trips kind of the hey once again net river your mirror
You see love the guy he can go better than he's a top three in this business
Trips getting up there man. He's not getting any younger and by the way. I'm telling you Sean's not coming back
Something that's uh, I believe you and I talked about yesterday wasn't not misty that and please feel free to share that
Because you brought it up to me before I knew about it. So I'm not gonna steal the credit here. Well
I heard that Vince uh told his marketing team no more hbk stuff because he doesn't want to have anything to do with wrestling any longer
That is correct. That is correct. He's out of the business. Sean is not coming back
And I know every time we get in San Antonio last night and hbk people with the signs and you think any minute
It's gonna crank up and it's not Sean is done
Done now he'll be the hola. He'll now they'll hold him a year. He's not gonna go on in Atlanta
He either goes in an MSG or he goes in in Dallas
They save him for a Texas or the or a big one put him and take her in together. Yeah, but Sean Michaels is done
I hate to say I never thought I'd say that believe in it's wrestling too. Yeah, but I think it's smart
Yeah, I mean there's always that line. When do you quit and when do you keep on on going? I mean
I think that's where Sean's getting it right compared to Bret Hart and watch a man. I want to
I want to remember you a certain way. I don't want to remember
I don't want to remember Bret Hart being the crap out of Vince McMahon that he didn't say
That's not how I want to remember him and I think Sean has it right by ending it now saying I want no more to do with it
Mm-hmm man, I tell you I was I was shocked he lost that match
Because I thought Sean had another run in him, but now everything I seem to think of but that next this thing may sound
So stupid it may not be viable. No, I'm totally on board. I think trip gets involved in that
He's gonna be involved in major story line. It ain't beaten Ronald McDonald the big Jarman A's with the belt. It's not that
It's dragon ball Z now he'll get it revenge. He'll come back and he'll he'll take care of shameless
But I think eventually he aligns himself with telling you hell or he just annihilates it. It's gonna be
I wouldn't be surprised see I've got I'm gonna be out of town for summer slam
So I've got to find some way somewhere in Tampa, Florida to watch this pay-per-view quick tease
Does this do anything for you? He's holding up. He's holding up four fingers trip Randy Sina edge no
Doesn't nothing for me. Oh
Dude
This six-man is is completely I mean you and I both stated today that that raw last night
You could have watched it on mute or had the noise on in the background and it wouldn't have mattered
You had no angle development at all
It was horrible
So that being said we're gonna go into one of my personal favorite topics of the evening
And the ladies are gonna stick around with us for the rest of the show. We've got two segments to go
We're gonna do this weekend wrestling history one of my favorite things being the historian that I am
I love it when Cody does his research and tells me about stuff that's that he finds
Some of it's gonna be older than charla and we get that most of it's gonna be younger than Chad and we get that to
Just gotta get one in there
Well, we'll start off this week kind of you know this was a tough. This was a tough week
I don't know if it's a slow time of year if the mate if the the big guys took off. I do have something here
um
A name two names. Okay, all of both Hall of Fame Jack brisco and Harley race
Jack brisco defeated Harley race in Houston
For the NWA title and why that significant because it ended Harley's first title right and the thing that you really think about that too
It's very rare to hear Jack's name without Jerry's name. Yeah, and because the brisco brothers were one of the most dominant tag teams of that time
And to hear one of them win a singles title much less the NWA world title makes it even more significant
Yeah, that was one thing with Harley always liked harley
I think once rick got involved Harley was the third wheel Harley
Basically handed the torch to flick. Yeah, I mean he rick rick was the man after you're out, you know star k 83
85 84 84 okay 80
Anything that's great rick regardless
Um, this one here is kind of close everybody here local kind of miss these miss these
She miss his represent. No, we start from Los Angeles and
Dallas and
So you might kind of be but I know you you're not agent. You know her nandes that name is synonymous with some half-breed
So in your personal favorites one of my guys
Um, defeated rick flair
And I if anybody geno beat flair if anybody has any record of besides print. I'd love to see this match
Isn't another one of the I haven't it you've got one of the WCCW sets
I've got the other one the documentary you've got I still contend as a better document. It happened in
San Antonio, Texas for the NWA Texas heavyweight title
Why why that is why that is significant is it was the
title that was vacated on February 11th by the death of david von herrick oh wow
Okay, a lot of people said that fritz begged for this match to happen with rick because it gave david old belts and legitimately with legitimacy okay
Geno
Geno Hernandez a guy, you know if you know anything about world-class championship wrestling a lot of tragedy
If you had a belt there you died two years later. Yeah, my if your name's not Michael Hayes watch one of those documentaries
It really does job at home
But yeah, it's kind of weird seeing Geno Hernandez and rick flair and I can remember
David Von Eric, you know, he they said it was a food poisoning. They said he ate too much
Some people said it was steroids cocaine. I don't know if they've ever really come out and said here's what David flair
David Von Eric died of
Not that I'm aware of I mean, it's always been up
But that I thought that was pretty cool that that was actually and I could have sworn to you if you look at those pictures from Comic Con in that
WWE booth they did a Von Eric tag team set
I could swear to you two of those figures are Von Eric. You read the Von Eric stuff
Hmm
Do you remember it?
Yeah, yeah, I support a toy on there in Dallas. This one's here. It's kind of
Different Worcester, Massachusetts where this took place once again. I've been to that town. Great town. New England power pro wrestling
Yes, it's one of the factory that made John Cena and Samoa Joe there when he was the prototype
Yep
The natural disasters defeated money incorporate one of my part. That's one of my personal favorite tag teams money
For the tag team titles
That town also was the place where Tully and Arne beat demolition and I think what
Something about Worcester, Massachusetts City Center. I mean, something about Worcester, Mass
Um, money ink. You know, that's it. One of the only belts Ted Held was tag belts for men
He never held the singles belt. He held the singles belt
No, apparently AC DC firing up a little hell's bells
Um, good morning to you
But yeah, I mean, that was the only but money ink then I think the natural disasters
Lost them there pretty pretty after that. It was they're saying it was an eight day vote and typhoon
That was the typhoon and earthquake
Was typhoon. That's right. John Teno was the great John Teno was the two the two big man tag team
I'm the only don't twin towers
Luger and Wyndham twin towers
Yeah, this one here speaking of Sean Michaels. This is probably
I'd probably say top 10. Okay, Matt cheered. You mean you've talked about this one
In your house too is what it was dubbed they'd done the first one in night earlier that you're they gave away a house
If you remember that they actually yeah, that's why they called it in your house because they actually gave away a house to somebody
It was Vince's idea of going I need an every month pay-per-view
They were two hours long they were half the price, but it was Vince
Had a 12 month first person to ever do that to have a pay-per-view 12 months a year
They were real a lot of great matches are really forgotten because they're not majors
But this one here was kind of neat
Sean's been gone. He was defeated by Kevin Nash at WrestleMania and Sean's got back problems
We all know his story. It's always been his deal
Um, and he's gone from WrestleMania up until July
And Rob knows this story Vince came in said I'm mad at Jarrett take his intercontinental title
This match had zero build up zero height. They had never touched before have not touched since
only meeting
If you have a Sean Michaels in the vault is the only place you can find this and you do own that sir
I want to copy of that
It's it's one of his best um
Sean obviously wins and Jarrett leaves the company the next day
It was that first to the first or second time the first time before he
Come back and then lose to China. Yeah, yeah, I mean it was that which that Sean went to locker room and said here
I'm above this now. This was kind of the match that I thought in a lot of people's opinion
Launched Sean to that he can carry the company obviously a year later. He was the he was the champ
And was PWIs 1995 match of the year once again no buildup no promos
No, nothing Sean could elevate guys and they just went yeah
Just went look at and I once again
I thought one of the greatest we had was Sean and Sina
I thought Sean took Sina to a level. I don't even think Sina thought he could go
That's one thing that Sean he didn't hold the belt 16 times. He wasn't Rick Flair
But man he didn't have to be he made people look good
He's have to be and last but not least once again another when the in your houses went away
You had arm again jet fully loaded. Well, that's a fully loaded this very day night Tina
I just graduated high school couple couple of months for this. Thank you for that 1999
This was a whole ministry bit
That's one of the new figures is undertaker from the ministry days and I didn't like that figure's amazing
And I didn't like this Steve Austin to feed Sina taker in a in a first blood match
Was that before or after the the crucifixion that was after that was the leading that was leading up to this
The match was first built as Austin versus Vince McMahon
a
Individ era match
Luzer was going to leave Vince Rex's motorcycle in his alley if you remember Vince is in a wheelchair
Fires up the fires up mark marks always willing to do a job if the price is right and
Hey triple H run first appearance of triple H as I am triple H on my own really
Bloodies the undertaker bloodies Austin and then turns on all the DX
and
It's his time buddy the crown the crown came on the head and the king of kings was born that night because triple H became a one man
Reckon crew on Monday night raw it led to a match at summer slam that Jesse Ventura
Special guest three fully where you put the belt on Foley that night mm-hmm and
McFolly has one of the shortest title reigns in WWE history as triple H wins his first of
13 I think it's a 13 now
I don't I think he sees 16 like Barry Sanders saw Walter Peyton. Yeah, I don't think he gets to 16
But like I said not a lot tonight record not a lot tonight, but hopefully you've been our next week
But that is this week in wrestling history. All right, let's go to
Another one of my favorite things because it's the last thing
We're gonna do our list list. We're going out of the box this week. We're leaving sports this week because there's a this week's list
We're gonna talk about
Bad movies great soundtrack
There's there's many of them out there where you've watched a movie and you're like
This movie sucks, but the music's pretty awesome
I put together a list of 10
We're gonna run him to oh, that's my braves. We're losing very badly right now to the natinels um
Run him down number 10 is a movie and and this kind of this movie actually has kind of a special pace with me because this movie
Was a movie that my wife and I saw together on our first anniversary of dating
But the movie is terrible
The movie is called duets
Hughie Lewis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Giamatti, Maria Bello. You think this is a great cast. It's a movie about karaoke and it
How apparently they consulted like the karaoke king and queen air quotes
Uh to help write this movie. I would like to find these people and hit them with my car
Because he's at he's at scooters five nine. No, that would that would be my brother on the scooters on thursdays and friday's
um
But it's just so
Technically inaccurate, but it's but the performance is a really good. There's a guy in the film and I can't remember his name off
Hand and do I have it here? I do Alan Collins is his name does a it's an acapella version of free bird
That is phenomenal and I'm not a big free bird fan because I think it's over done
But what he does with it is amazing. I'd play it for you, but I don't want to worry about rights
I don't want to be I don't want you know, ask cap stopping by the house tomorrow. That's number 10 number nine
We go to a movie that was a marginal film at best
Edward um
Who's furlong was in this called Detroit rock city about a bunch of kids in the 70s trying to get to a kiss concert
I have seen that
Not a great film
Soundtrack ever clear covering thin lizzies the boys are back in town and terror and terror doing cat scratch fever
There's just and there's also the runaways are on there of course kiss has a couple of tracks on their great soundtrack terrible film
Number eight
Let me see if there's anything else. Oh, Merle and Manson doing highway to hell is on that soundtrack
You've got
cheap tricks surrender david bowie rebel rebel the donna's doing kisses strutter or stutter strutter
Great cover there number eight and Chad is gonna love this
If you know me you know I hated all three spider-man films hated them hated them hated them
You should have called the second one pier loves Mary. I wouldn't know what I was going in for
You should have taken the third one and just gone to one villain the first one the visual effects were very rough
But the soundtrack to the first film was greatness you had Chad Krueger and Josie Scott from Nickelback and saliva respectively with hero
Which was a great song
Train doing a song called ordinary that's excellent
Defaults doing blind Corey Taylor from slipknotts on their green wheel the strokes the hives theory of a dead man
All of these great great songs just
Got a great film and will not own it
We go now to number seven and I'm gonna get a little crazy on you here
I saw this today and went okay
Let's do this from the
Classic 1970s film car wash and we talked about this as overused the beginning of it being overused in stadiums
The song itself. I love car wash
Rose Royce does the entire soundtrack
But it's such a 70s movie
I mean, it's like you watch it and you're like did the Wayne's brothers make this as a parody
Because it was remade with with snoopy dog dog
Called the wash that is a remake of car wash
And just just now now one thing I will give car wash
Richard prior to street preacher
Gotta give credit prior to anything is greatness
Number six
Chad's gonna love me for this one too
Under the cherry moon prince's second film
Horrible
And he'll tell you this he will tell you this that movie was terrible
What exactly was the cherry moon
That's a dog on good question. I don't know that I can answer that
But it was all in black and white it was very
Remember the beginning of temple adoom where they were in that club. Yeah
It looked like the whole thing took place there. Was this theatrical yes, it was a theatrical release
But the album was actually called parade but you're looking at
uh
Venus de Milo mountains kisses on this album
Another level hole in your head is on this album. Sometimes it snows in april beautiful song
But again
And I'm not putting graffiti bridge in this list because I liked graffiti bridge. I don't hear anybody says
I liked graffiti bridge
You know, I love it when my girls have my back. That's all I'm saying
number five
Conan
I actually said good bad film good soundtrack. Remember that's this category here mister
brought us a little song
From the red hot chili peppers called soldier squeeze
That's from the sound
Didn't they bring a song back that that didn't it love. Yeah, they brought that
Tainted looks or as it's known as track track 11 cone headlove
Sun sung by Dan acroix out
But you also had I mean you had Paul Simon's coda chrome on here
Tainted love by Ed Cobb. No, no, what was it again? Soft self soft self soft self did the original
But and it's and it's like
soldier squeeze alone
You know, they kind of base the video on the movie. Yeah, it was kind of a cone head out in the middle of the deal
I don't think it's real
We go to another prince soundtrack for this next one
Number four girl six was a spiky film
About a girl who
Decided she was going to become a phone sex operator
I vaguely remember this
Again prince did the soundtrack. He was not in the movie as he had nothing to do with the movie
But he did the soundtrack man. No, not he did on this list
But no because that's a great film with a great soundtrack. Yeah
Pink cash mirror is on here
Girls and boys nasty girl erotic city hot thing adore the cross. How come you don't call me anymore all great print songs
Terrible terrible film and spike and I don't want to go there's would be a week. We're gonna go into the films a spiky and
He just in the mid 90s. He just kind of went into this weird mode where everything sucked
Yeah after Malcolm X because Malcolm was a phenomenal film
No, I'm birth three we can tie it into wrestling
The scorpion king
Oh, that was a that was a bad that was a bad bad bad. Remember his CGI theme
Oh, it was like half wrong. Well, that was that that was in the movie too
That was in the second that led into this figure how bad that CGI was what eyebrow raising
I'm so used to my guys of that style
Not using contractions exactly. I do not think this is a good idea. He was like. I don't think it's a good idea
Because I come on rocky give me a little something please, but you look at this soundtrack. What was that movie?
We're talking about today. What was it when Harlow night when he goes peace?
It's like no it's peace out peace out. It's like 1925. Thanks Eddie
But look at the soundtrack god smacked POD drowning pool system of a down creed nickelback
Huba stink rob zombie featuring Ozzy Osborne 12 stones that won't be played at church. No, I can't not at all not at all
Although the nickelback track yanking out my heart is actually an edited version
There's actually an s bomb. He throws in the first verse. They actually edited on the soundtrack
Number two on this list
Is the Punisher not the one that we just did Punisher war zone because that was a decent film the one that came before it
Terrible movie
I mean not as bad as the Dolph Lundgren version from the early 90s, but a terrible film
But again you look a drowning pool puddle of mud nickelback queens of the Stone Age see their verse featuring Amy Lee the song broken great song
Smile empty soul trapped chavelle damaged plan which was
Before dineback Darrell died you like them damaged plan
see their edgewater finger 11
Hate breed now. There's a bit edgewater. I'd mentioned earlier. They're a local band
They're from douse on the edge wood ever. No edge with the city out there on the east side, but
Eyes wired shut excellent song. I know we're burning through this because we're running low on time
But number one on the list we say a reboot probably coming on this number one
There's rumors where reboot in this number one. There's no need to do this
So this just this number one here's gonna be kind of tricky because I think they're fixing a attempt to reboot the benefit
And I don't know why I did not print up the track listing for this album, but take my word for it daredevil takes the crown
This film was so bad
I wanted to kick a puppy on the way out. I don't know. It's just all of us still love you though. She said early if you kicked up up
That's right
But but that that film soundtrack brought us a band called Evan Essence
That's right. Bring me to life was the film where
Where Jennifer as a lecturer is doing her training and that that's where that came from
Great soundtrack. I mean again, you can pick up that soundtrack and you can listen to all the three and have a great time
Just don't see the film. That's all I ask
Yeah, next week Cody's got the list. It falls back into his core. Have you had the ideas yet? You want to tease something?
Or you want to just wait till next week. Yeah, I want to wait till next. I've got a lot of things
I try to we've been trying to keep we keep the list not very sportsy sometimes
So sometimes I want to get well this is your top 10 quarterbacks that played for Notre Dame
You're not gonna do that, but I've got some you pull that off. I'll be oppressed. Sorry, but yeah, um, and I think um
I think it was a good show. I want to thank you ladies. Yes, and we're gonna do this with the ladies every month
I said that um
We're gonna have ladies wrestling around table once a month and speaking of things of its nature
You want to be on the Facebook page if you're a wrestling fan
two weeks time
Because we're gonna do something very special. We're gonna have two editions of the clubhouse that week
We'll have a regular one that we're gonna do Tuesday night and post Wednesday during the day
We're gonna do another one Thursday night
And if you look at your calendar, you can probably figure out what it's gonna be will tell you more about it
next week
Because I want you gotta you gotta give a little suspense. Yeah, I mean the average person listen to this
I'm like I really don't care. I just listen next week. You can tell me anyway
It's not like they're gonna go through their whole week blogging. Oh my god. I don't know what it's gonna be
but I kind of want to
We're gonna leave the details on that next week. I'm very excited about this
Cody anything else you want to say? Yeah, by the way, when this air is real quick
I'm gonna get personal my dad turns 51 Thursday happy birthday dad
Yeah, I want to see I want to throw that out there
Dad who's a big fan of the show big fan of the show loves the show
So and we love him so until next time the clubhouse is officially closed
