It is 702 on the East Coast.
It is 402 on the West Coast.
It is the second of August in the year of our Lord 2015.
It is season 6 episode 3 chronologically number 309.
We welcome you, no matter where you are, the clubhouse is live on the air.
We don't care if you're listening on your stream or on our archive or even if you subscribe
on iTunes.
We love you all the same, as far as you know.
My name is Rob and boy, it's been a lazy day today and there's nothing wrong with
that.
Joining me across the desk as he tends to do is my co-host and a man that maybe a little
while later in the show may be the second person in this studio to hear something which
is very, very unusual.
He is Chad.
Where are we going with this?
You'll find out when we get there.
I may have scooped you for once in my life on this particular subject.
That's all I'm saying.
Thank you.
Well, I can't think of too many songs you may have scooped me on because I've
been in the dark.
Yeah, but still, this one I'm kind of proud of if I pulled this off.
We start every show with corrections.
We are a sans guest tonight.
I thought we just kind of keep it.
Maybe you know, do a little unplugged segment.
Unplug it.
Keep it acoustic.
But then we'd have no show about to say so let's do corrections because we've
got a few from last week.
Some are corrections, some are updates, but I put them all together.
Guardians of the Galaxy animated series will be on Disney XD.
I did find that out for the show.
We weren't sure exactly who was showing it, but it will be Disney XD.
Okay, just some details on ethics.
We talked about them in P.O.I last week.
It is a Viacom network, so which is probably why you have to pay extra for it because
this is part of the agreement.
But then again, isn't, let's say of what's show time.
Yeah, yeah.
But it's a partnership called Studio 3 Partners.
It is Paramount, NGM, and Lions Gate all together, which would make sense of why they
got Skyfall before anybody else.
Yeah.
It was formed on April 21st, 2008, but did not have an outlet until Files picked them
up on July 28th of 2009.
It debuted on October 30th, 2009 with an odd, which when I found out what their first
movie was, I was like, maybe that was before the agreement.
Iron Man.
Really?
Yeah.
I guess maybe that was before the stars exclusivity.
Maybe they were going to go with something Halloween oriented there, but what do I
want to know?
Diamond Dolph's page is wife, Brendan Nare page, because I don't know if she's
hyping, and so I was being very, very, very general there.
She was diagnosed with the breast cancer at one point, so we were right on that.
And it was Allison Pill, that was in the newsroom, not Bury Larson.
We spoke about when we talked about King Kong last week.
We got, who got those two confused?
I didn't.
You guys are Bury Larson was your female lead, and I said she was on the newsroom, no, that
was Allison Pill.
Why I just get them confused?
She's the one that had the newty pictures leaked, didn't she?
But that list is long and distinguished, I couldn't tell you.
Of those two, I thought she was the one that were supposed to do her boyfriend.
The official fact checker of this show, Fondongo joins us in the chat room, starts
this new promotion job tomorrow.
Good luck with that.
Very excited for him, and Don wanted to verify with you just to be sure to
marinate, I believe our screen is at the Mac Nolia, not the Angelica, but to give
you just verify that for me that'd be great.
Anything else you heard from last week?
No, no, you caught stuff, I didn't catch so.
Yeah, it's much as I kind of casually listen stuff still catches me.
I don't know what it is.
Let's get started with a little NASCAR.
We were at the Pocano raceway today for the Windows 10-400, which I do have, did I tell you?
I didn't tell you what the line of the week went to my boss, right?
I think you did.
We were talking about it, we were, he said it should have been a little bit longer
called the Windows 10-404, and I was like, yeah, because remember I said the
night caution flag of the pace crash should be blue.
Nineteen people will get that reference, and it's genius.
But your top 10 finishers today.
Carl backflip Edwards starts in eighth finishes in 10th and the number 19 Toriota, Tony
Stewart, one of his very few races that he's going to do this year.
This is 9th, starts in fifth and the number 14 Chevrolet, Clint Boyer, I feel like whenever
I say that, I should have charm of Boyer.
He started in 19th finishes in eighth and the number 15 Toriota, AJ Almondinger, which I believe
you can get it Denny's, starts in 22nd finishes 7th, so a good day for him and the number
47 Chevrolet.
In sixth place starting in 12th, winding up in sixth time, sixth time, sixth time, sixth
time, sprint cup champion, Jimmy Johnson, and the number 48 Chevrolet.
Starting in 25th and winding up in fifth place, is Greg Biffle, no his family did not invent
the game with the plastic ball and plastic bat in the ball with a hold of it.
16th and the number 16 Ford, Dale learned hard junior back on the winning ways, coming
in fourth and the number 88 Chevrolet, starting in 15th, starting in 10th and finishing
with the bronze medal, Jeff Gordon, in the number 24 Chevrolet, Chad's favorite driver,
Brad Kessel Lowski, starts at 9th, winds up at the silver medal in the number 24th and
winning the race, starting in 7th place and the number 20 Toriota, Matt Kenseth, doesn't
his family make action figures?
That's Kenner.
Oh, I'm sorry, I apologize.
Driver standing right now as it stands, right now the odd man out is Ryan Hiddoo, new
man, because he's in 13th place, but he's only, let's see if I can do the math right
here.
He's like 14 points behind Paul Minard, so are they in or are they out?
You only got about five or six more races left until the chase, so this is where I wish
why I was here, yeah, but they stay in this pretty much, not a whole lot of movement
besides moving, Newman and Minard switch places, Denny Hammond drops one to 11, Jeff Gordon
takes his place in 10th, Kurt Bush falls one to nine, Jamie Mitt Murray takes his place
in eight, the top seven all stay the same, Matt Kenseth, Brad Kessel Lowski, Martin
Truetch Jr, six times six times six times six times six times six times, Spring Cup
Champion Jimmy Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr in third, Joey Logano right now 46 points behind
Kevin Harvik, I'm so confused, we remember the top 12 or the top 16 someone like that
get into the chase, and then it's like a four race elimination, okay, that's, well, once
let me get closer, we'll explain the rules again, I finally got a grasp on this thing,
thanks to a friend of ours, barbed wire for helping me out there, because it's not as confusing
as it used to be, but it's still not cutting dry when it comes to NASCAR.
Next week, oh, you ready for next week's race, sir?
From the Watkins Glenn International Speedway at 2 o'clock Eastern on the NBCSN, it is the
Cheese at 355, I wish I was making this stuff up, I can't make stuff up this good, but I
will take those new, the new, the new cheeses that have like the ridges in them, all those
are really good, it didn't, cheeses at a term that people always used to use and they were
trying to get away from someplace quickly, cheeses at the cops or something like that, like
I always, always heard it in, I always heard it in like the three stages, like when they,
when they were like maybe when you were in high school in the 30s, I have no idea what that,
you're a funny guy, never, never not funny, they're joking, but you're not helping yourself with
references like that, I was raised on the studios dude, oh dear, so that's gonna wrap up NASCAR,
we are your one stop shop for all things sports entertainment, so let's go to TV talk,
big more casting news coming out of Gotham this week, Natalie Allen Linde, you would know her as
Dana, if I just lost the guy's name, on the gold birx, she is Adam, the main character,
I was his girlfriend, okay, she's gonna play Silver St. Cloud on this season of Gotham,
they're going deep into the, but did no, Silver St. Cloud is a fairly significant character,
though, because she is going to be his love interest, now I don't know how that affects
things with Selena, but she's, and she's a very good actress, and her and,
check list, we announced last week, I just hope, I hope we come away from this season,
better than we did this past year, we have to, you know, I'm just saying I've got it bounce back,
because that just, that thing just ended with a thud, but what I'm worried about is we're going to
try to cram, we think that the, the solution may be cram or characters people have ever heard
of into this thing.
Instead of just developing the characters we have, because that works so well with
amazing Spider-Man 2 and Brainy Spider-Man 3, amazing Spider-Man 2 and the minority, I'm
just saying, and Batman and Robin and Batman forever, well, I'm just saying.
So we also get an announcement this past week from Marvel Studios, the Jessica Jones
Netflix series Will Bow in Q4.
I was wondering, and the rumor they're saying that was you're going to get a new series
every six months after that.
So you'll have after that you'll have Luke Cage and then you'll have Iron Fist and
then you'll have the Defenders.
I'm just, I mean, and, and, and, and, and, Joe Cassada, I finally, I'm starting to catch up
on Fatman on Batman.
His interview with Kevin Smith, where he said the thing about the, these Netflix series,
is they're all going to have a completely different flavor to him.
Whereas Daredevil was very dark and cinematic, Jessica Jones is going to have its own
style, it's over the others.
Good.
So, I could imagine going through every series having that same tone.
I don't know, I love Daredevil so far.
Well, yeah, but I don't think it would work for every series to be that dark.
I can't say what they do.
I mean, just like, I mean, if we do dazzler, probably not.
Well, I mean, think about it.
It's like comparing Flash to Arrow.
It's the same kind of thing.
Flash is a lot lighter tone than Arrow, and I don't think that Flash would play that
well, if it was that dark.
I was kind of hoping that they would do Power Man and Iron Fist together, because they
had the comic together, but, well, Jessica Jones is with one of them, didn't she?
Luke Cage and she with Luke Cage?
Well, kind of sort of.
It depends on your interpretation.
And some, in some iterations, they have a air quotes arrangement.
Oh, okay.
So there's that.
Good news.
If you're fans of this show, MTV has already renewed screen for a second season.
I'm hearing good things.
I saw the first couple of episodes of it.
Is that one that you might binge at some point?
Probably.
It wasn't bad.
It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
I'm just, I don't know.
The horror genres, making such a researches, and you know how much of a, of not of a fan
of that genre that I am.
Yeah.
I just saw the trailer that day for the new Paranormal Activity, I went out, out, done.
It's that they're combining Paranormal Activity with the VHS franchise.
They, it's like they find these videos, and then they find the camera, but the camera
has this ability to see things when you, when you adjust certain things out.
I'm out.
It's kind of reminds me of of a unfriended, which I'll watch together day.
Well, you very much enjoyed if I'm not, I really did.
It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
We have casting news for NBC's version of the Wizz.
That's not a documentary about your nation.
Two people are in, are three people are, well, two have been cast.
One, other, a third is in talks.
The Wizz will be played by Queen Latifa.
Oh, no.
I'm okay with that one.
It's the next one.
Wicked Witch of the West.
Actually, you know what?
Let's just do it this way.
Let's see.
What's the name of that song?
That's the song I'm looking for.
Let me go ahead and just go.
Wicked Witch of the West.
I don't have enough Mary J. Blige in my life.
And now the Beyoncé is in talks, too.
This is trege all over this as we possibly can, so there's that.
But good news.
I don't know if this is good news for you as might as it may be for both of our spouses,
because they are both fans of these people.
It means May Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.
Yes, sir.
You heard this.
Yes, I have.
They will be doing a brand new car series for Amazon Prime sometime next year.
So as top gear ends, well, they're version of Tyre.
They've said, yeah, let's just keep doing it somewhere else, which I'm perfectly fine with.
So, and I, one time, my wife was a big fan of that child and she still is or not.
But I know your wife is.
As am I, I didn't think I would like it.
I love that show.
Except for the American version, right?
Oh, no, no, no.
Yeah.
Out on the American version?
Absolutely.
I'm out on, I'm out on anything that these three are not involved in.
Okay.
Because whoever takes over for them, big shoes to fill.
I thought they were killing the show altogether.
They're recasting it.
They're recasting.
Oh dear.
I feel bad for that.
Those three people.
I'm not saying I'm just saying.
We also have information on the Fuller House this past week.
The original rumor was that DJ, it's going to focus on DJ's family.
Candice Cameron Burai, that she was going to be pregnant with her third child and a widow.
And a widow.
Yeah, I didn't read this.
The widow thing still intact from what I know, but she, but the three kids will already exist.
Oh, I thought they were doing away with a widow angle.
There's, there's talk both ways.
But there's so that she's still going to be widow because the Kimmy Gibler and
Jodi Sweetens character are going to be moving in with her.
So it's the same basic premise you're just flipping the script.
So, I mean, but now I'm also hearing the Olson twins may or may not be interested in joining the cast.
All I heard was that they weren't interested.
I didn't know that there was any rumors came out last week that they may be putting some
feelers out because, you know, they got so much going on.
Just rolling in their, on their pile of money that they've made.
And in news that I'm very, very excited about.
You know, I'm on board.
Any news?
Game of Thrones, really.
Right?
Excuse me.
Comfortable.
I've got stuck in my throat.
Have you heard who's joining the show for season six?
And a very limited, limited, limited role.
No.
Ian McShane is joining the cast of Game of Thrones.
And they're not saying who he's playing.
But you know I'm in.
Good.
It's Game of Thrones.
And you know, I'm a huge e-mix chain fan dating back to Deadwood.
Right.
But he said he's going to be a very minor character that's going to carry major importance.
And they, HBO has also said they are still set to end Game of Thrones after season eight.
That's it.
But you know what?
I'm okay with the finiteness of it.
Because if you don't have anything else to say, don't try to say anything.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like I said a couple of weeks ago.
I don't want to advance in coyd dukes of hazard situation.
I don't want them to just, you know, play to finish.
That makes any sense.
Oh, but they can always, they can always go backward.
Interesting news coming out of another HBO series.
Because we've talked a while ago.
We haven't talked about it much lately.
But they're doing redoing Westworld.
Uh-huh.
Apparently this series is going to be told from the robots point of view.
For those of you that don't remember Westworld, it was basically a theme park.
Uh, based in old Westy times and things go awry.
It's Jurassic Park.
And with robots.
Well, it's the same author, too.
Yeah.
Um, also stars has canceled the Vinci's demons after season three.
But does renew black sales for season four?
That surprises me.
Because I didn't have too many people.
But you know what surprised me?
Because they're getting season four.
That's what I'm saying.
I didn't know there was a season three.
I didn't either.
I thought they killed it after the first season.
Uh, Da Vinci's demons though.
They have said that you'll be able to binge the entire series online if you want to.
Through the stars have a, uh, like a HBO Go type app.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yes.
But it's not one that you can pay separately.
You have to actually have a subscription to stars to use it.
Any other TV news that you've heard this week that I need to know about?
Uh, the, the may clerks and Hammond thing was the thing that I was most excited about.
Because I, I mean, I rent when I saw that I ran home and told Jill's about it.
She's like, oh, thank God.
So I'm just glad they're sticking together.

So many go pounds say and I am Rob at the clubhousepodcast.com.
I am Chad at the clubhousepodcast.com.
Charlotte Parker is on Pinterest because we are more or more obligated to say that.
And Jules Walmick, apparently excited about more top gear type stuff.
Let us move on and do a little thing we like to call P.O.I.
P.O.I. since we are first in the interest.
It is a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity and we debate
their greatness or lack thereof.
Chad go.
I was watching of all things because my wife had never seen this before.
But we were watching the right stuff the other day.
Now that is not a documentary about new kids on the block.
And it has nothing to do with Vanessa Williams album.
But if you recall how they always made a big deal about whenever the press would show up,
how they always sounded like a swarm of locusts.
They always had this sound effect that played whenever the press core would show up.
They literally sounded like cockroaches crawling over a carcass or something.
And it got me to thinking about how these poor women are already stressed out of their heads.
Watching for word, whether or not their husband was coming back from this whatever experimental flight it was on because
the space program was in its infancy and they are never any guarantees in that line of work.
And they were thrust into this frame of celebrity that they didn't want.
They didn't ask for it.
They wanted nothing to do with it.
All they cared about was their husband coming back.
And you see some of these people that through by accident or by design are always forced to pay
some sort of a price for fame that either they didn't expect or they never asked for.
Or it's almost like the grim reaper came looking for them to exact a price of fame from them.
Like it was like just as a few examples like say.
Oh, what a what.
Let's look at this.
Okay.
Let's compare sitting contrast.
Guys like Tibo and Mansell.
Okay.
You see where I'm going with that.
You had you had two guys that were kind of on a.
I don't know how you understand there's a bias both ways here.
Exactly.
I do.
I've got no bias towards Mansell.
I really don't.
I don't have a bias against him.
I know you do.
But how Tibo seemed to do everything.
Right morally.
And unashamedly and and got crucified by it.
And it's almost like he was forced to pay a price that he never should have had to pay.
And you understand.
I've made no bones about my bit about that on this show that I'm so sick and tired of people
for quality people.
We need quality role models in this league.
And here comes this guy and all you want to do is tear him down.
But on the other side of that coin, you've got Mansell who seem to have all the talent
in the world.
Well, and honestly, in my personal opinion, the talent level with both of these guys is about
to say that.
Okay.
That's what I wanted to say.
But I didn't know how you felt about that.
No.
Because I don't think that Johnny Mansell is as good as everybody says.
Yeah.
I think that they were on a relatively level playing field.
But you had to seem like he was given every opportunity to prove himself.
And he proved himself all right.
But not on a positive way.
But I think difference there is number one of the schools.
You always expect to hear Florida in the conversation.
And this is not because I'm a Gator fan.
And the last few years not with standing.
But you always expect to hear Florida in the conversation.
Do you equate Texas A&M with national championships?
No.
No.
So University of Texas.
I would equate before I would say A&M.
I think that's part of the problem too is because Mansell came out of a school like A&M
who hasn't really gotten a lot of notoriety.
Good or bad.
So when you have somebody that comes out of a school like that or like a Marcus Mario
to out of an Oregon who Oregon really wasn't the toast to the town until the last five or six years.
Somebody like Romo who comes out of eastern Illinois or western Illinois or wherever the heck it was.
These aren't schools that you hear about that much.
So to have a guy with decent talent because as a court both guys as college quarterbacks were great.
But so was Vince Young.
Yeah.
So was Matt Lionard.
You know the college game is so different from the program.
And these are absolute examples of this.
Now there are certain guys that do translate over.
The the mannings.
Even though Peyton never beat Florida.
But then you for every one of those there's a Gino Toretta.
There's a Bernie Cosa for every good one.
There's a bad example.
So when you compare these two guys.
I don't know that we bought it.
Manzel.
But I think Manzel got a lot more leeway.
Yeah.
But still under the microscope that he got put under he didn't seem to really.
Care that he was being watched because he didn't have to.
Yeah.
Because you could the example of him getting photographed.
Going to a frat party at the University of Texas.
Yeah.
Not a Texas A&M.
Yeah.
University of Texas.
Not the school he was going to do.
Right.
Which and that rivalry.
It's not.
It's in a documentary.
We watched earlier this year.
It's not pretty.
Like you might as well.
Have been wearing a cowboy jersey and gone and hung out at a giant training camp.
With Philadelphia.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Like that's a big deal.
But all of a sudden.
Yeah.
And then Don's right.
A&M has had a lot of NFL players come up.
But they weren't known until they got to the NFL.
Right.
These A&M was not seen as a football powerhouse.
It's not a school that you consistently put in a national championship picture.
And so you have this kid who has some shiny moments plays well at A&M.
Compete's well.
When's a Heisman?
I cannot deny his college talent.
But I think he's given more latitude.
And I don't understand it.
I don't either.
Is it because he stands up for his party lifestyle?
Which he swears.
He's off of.
And only time will tell.
I'm willing to.
I'm willing to see where this goes.
But I believe it.
When I see it.
Don says the numbers of huge difference in the pairs.
The NFL from A&M and East El Paso tech is night and day.
Well, yeah.
But I'm not saying it's an excuse.
Because what I'm saying is.
Honestly, if you put man's out on just about any other team.
He's another player.
Because he's in a high profile school.
A&M is not a high profile school as far as college coverage goes.
They have become that way because of people like him.
But teams like Florida.
Miami.
Ohio State.
USC.
These are teams that you expect greatness from.
LSU.
Notre Dame.
Florida State.
These are teams that you expect to see high profile players in.
So I think there's a difference.
And I don't know if this is where you're going with this.
But I think because of Johnny and the the money symbol and the party lifestyle.
And because he keeps sports writers busy.
He got more latitude with a marginal amount of talent as we saw from his performance last
year.
And that's kind of where I'm going with it that sometimes the fame way over shadows.
The talent involved.
And that's and that's really anywhere.
And that's really what the guard actions.
But okay.
And see this is really where I was going with it was people like you know the honey boobo
clan.
The dugger family that that get shoved down our throats at nauseam and we get so tired of them
that we we are hoping and praying that something happens that makes them take a huge
thing.
But drives me nuts is when you use people like the honey booboos and put the word brand
after the only brand I would avoid it with is a loaf of bread because it's got a shelf
life.
A very brief one.
You know, Russ is in the chat room he brings up UCI that's another UCI was kind
of falling out of favor but they're still there.
What else would be some really good examples here of people that anybody that's fodder
for the soup.
Oh, shoot like us.
Oh, what was a Spencer Pratt and Hottie Montag?
And apparently they're now on this celebrity couple's rehab show that last season.
Spencer Pratt who apparently was the prototype for the miss if you really think about.
It really was.
And then you see people that in in some cases paid the ultimate price for fame.
People like Princess Diana who got chased to their grave.
Don't even get me started on proper rest.
Yeah, but I'm just I'm just saying that there is is it really worth it sometimes to be.
Do you can you be enormously successful and avoid the spotlight of fame?
You can't.
You can't because if we're going to make people like Kim Kardashian famous for being famous
people like Paris Hilton people like Nicole Richie.
If we're going to make them famous or even, you know, people that have marginal talent
Ashley Simpson anybody.
Just on a headline about her and her whatever he is name I think I guess you got married again.
But we live in a society that living color told us about 25 years ago.
Yeah.
We live in the cult of personality and it's so sad because we're not giving people.
And again, I'm not getting on the table thing again, but I'm just saying in general.
We're giving role model status to the wrong people.
And for me an excellent example of this was if you remember in the early 90s when Charles Barclay did that commercial.
And he said, I'm not a role model.
Yes, the heck you are.
You may not want to be, but when that spotlight shines on you, someone looks up to you that you've never met and you will never meet.
So there is a certain level of decorum you have to give.
But we live in a society where we want to see people torn down part of the danger of the internet.
And we talk about that on this show all the time.
How people have become keyboard strong.
That they become very bold behind a keyboard.
Yeah, yeah.
Basement, but in real life.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
They wouldn't open their mouth.
Oh, anybody.
And it drives me insane.
It's like a friend of the show, Clay said, women's about the internet is you're loved for hating things and you're hated for loving things.
And it drives me insane, which is why I really try to go out of my way on on social media to be positive and be uplifting.
And you know, sometimes things are funny, but I try not to do it where I'm taking shots at people because it's not necessary.
No.
Because you're making people famous for the wrong reasons.
In most cases, yes.
You know, people are all over the world doing wonderful things enriching the population, but we don't want to hear about them.
No.
And that's what I don't understand.
Because I mean, it is possible to be successful enormously successful without everybody knowing your name.
But those are the people that you probably getting a lot more recognition than they are, but they don't want it because they don't want to fall into that trap.
I'm going to get a lot of philosophical on you from a post I once been.
I think I passed everybody.
Sometimes activism is just doing what you believe in without carrying the banner.
Mm-hmm.
But I think we've gone as far as we can go with that.
Let's do some NFL talk.
Thinking of which.
Yeah.
And Don says it's part of the game.
But, but great.
Great.
Great saying.
The dog comes with the fleas.
It's a fair point.
It's a fair point.
Yes it is.
NFL stuff.
Brady still has a four game suspension.
Okay.
Did you hear?
We talked to, did you want to talk about this week about what the jet fans did?
We, yeah, I saw it.
They bought a charter plane with a big banner.
It's a cheaters look up and they flew it over Patriots practice.
That might have been a little over the line.
I don't think so.
But Brady now's, and the NFL PA now's suing the league.
I don't think this is a good idea.
I really don't.
And it's going to be tried in New York City, which tends to lean towards advantage to the lead.
So, I might have to be careful what they ask for.
That's all I'm saying.
By the way, speaking of the NFL.
Next week.
It's been a mere hard knocks with a Houston Texans.
DVR is set for a week from Tuesday, August 11th.
I'm ready, brother.
Kudos to the Arizona Cardinals.
Very first female assistant coach in the history of the NFL.
Real.
Her name is Jen Welter.
I believe she is coaching one crew of the linebackers.
And she's apparently from what everything I've read.
She's really, she's got the mind for the game.
So, Kudos to the Arizona Cardinals.
We didn't talk last week about the NBA.
There's the spurs summer league team was coached by a female.
Who was an assistant on the actual spurs team.
Wow.
So, and I believe the kings now have a female assistant coach too.
So, it's, we're getting there, sir.
We are getting there.
And congratulations to Russell Wilson.
Did you see this?
No.
Russell Wilson.
First three years.
Total contract about 2.1 million.
Rookie contract.
Okay, we're fine.
He's like, look guys.
Got a couple of championship games.
Got a Super Bowl.
Let's do something.
Seattle finally does pays him four years.
87.6 million dollars.
Average is out to 21.9 million a year.
Good night.
Kids, but he's worth it.
Oh yeah.
Russell Wilson is a great player.
Says some bonehead things from time to time.
But the kids are a great player.
Especially with this contract.
Especially since they're pretty much paying everybody.
Russ says that Jen Welter came from the Texas Revolution indoor football team.
So where do they play?
Ah, there.
I know the name.
I can't remember where they're out of.
But I'm sure Russell will tell us.
We're almost there, sir.
Preseason starts next week.
Oh, no, it's not because I'm so really.
We also did you also know American Pharaoh was racing again this weekend?
No.
I thought once the triple crown won the job.
I thought that was it.
Let him go live out his life.
We're watching the footage from ESPN right now.
Did he win and he did win at the Haskell invitation.
Wow.
Just keep.
We want to run.
Let him run.
Russ says the Texas Revolution plays an Allen, which is up on the north side.
Okay.
Okay.
Alright.
Let's do move on and do some music talk, shall we?
In what could be the funniest story of the week in the music world.
The Snoopy dog dog gets arrested in Sweden on drug charges.
Any clandracial profile.
Snoop.
Come on.
Mr. Brotis, I have a question.
Have you listened to your own music?
I'm just wondering.
The only reason I could pick this song is because I know that he isn't
Custon this one because this is from the Fox Sports album that came out
15 years ago.
Don't get me wrong.
I like the Snoopy dog dog.
I enjoy the Snoopy dog dog.
But.
Use what.
Use a brain cell once a week.
Yeah.
Even cheats and chong find certain countries to go.
Don't go in there.
Don't go in there.
Just say it.
Also congratulations.
To the iced tea and the cocoa tea.
Expecting their first child.
Really?
As long as they've been together.
And you know what's weird?
He's a grandfather.
Yeah.
The more I think about the more cringy.
He's a grandfather and they're expecting their first child.
You know me.
I love you so nice tea.
I'm a huge fan of that man.
Always have been.
But yeah.
That was a little weird for me.
I read that.
YouTube fans were Joyce.
This November.
Starting November 7th.
HBO is going to air a brand new YouTube documentary.
So you know I'm in.
And November 14th.
They'll be doing their live show from Paris.
From the songs of innocence to her.
So Bono is healed up properly.
And he's.
I doubt that he's ever going to play the guitar again.
Like he was talking about after that.
Nasty bicycling incident.
I don't know.
Now you're ready to be scooped sir.
I hate to bust your boat.
Have you heard it?
Yeah.
I haven't heard the song.
But I've heard the song.
I've heard the song.
Yeah.
I had the link pulled up.
But whenever I went to play it.
They were wanting me to sign up for the service.
I was like, I don't know.
Thanks.
Well, how about we do this?
Brand new print single.
They've used on Spotify.
It's called Stair.
But the weird thing is all of his back catalog.
He's pulled off of everywhere but title.
Yeah.
Which is the Jay Z thing.
But he puts this on Spotify.
Which I don't understand.
I love the song though.
I see.
I heard that he.
I heard that he named kicks.
Kiss it in.
Oh, he does more than that.
Sir.
It's about.
It's 343.
What are you thinking?
I'm liking the groove.
This is my.
This is probably the best print song I've heard.
Years.
The only thing that I don't like about this is how he constantly overlayers his vocals.
He did.
There's just too much of that.
I've got no problem.
You do it.
I just get sick and tired of hearing.
45,000 print voices singing in chorus.
I love the bass line in this.
Yeah.
And the horns.
The horn section works for me.
I can't get a kiss.
Told you he doesn't work.
The next jacket.
He does it with a couple of different songs.
Oh, he does.
Oh, he does already samples in this.
I really dig this man.
I'm a fan.
If this is a sign of what this.
It hit and run album is going to be like.
I'm not going to get my hopes up.
But he just didn't check sexy dancer.
Okay, he put the guitar riff in there.
I mean, I really, really dig this.
We don't want to take up all 343 because God knows we don't need to be sued by prints.
But I'm on board.
Yeah.
I'm in.
That's all I had to say about that.
If I can get this.
Okay.
There we go.
Let's go back to the other stuff here.
Let's see.
We need to go to music new releases and places you get music new releases this week.
Fear factory.
They did some work with WWE.
I just, this was just the next thing I had to do.
Okay.
Even though Spotify's not wanting to close.
Um.
But fear factory releases.
Jen access.
GE and ex US.
Also a brand new album from a, from a gentleman by the name of Frank Turner.
I don't really know who this is.
But I will tell you this.
The name of this album.
I'm totally on board.
Positive songs for negative people.
I like the name of this.
And one of Jen's favorites.
Luke Bryan releases a brand new album.
This week called Kill The Lights.
And remember, music new releases on Fridays now.
Right.
So.
Let's move on to some.
Major league baseball talk.
As we are in right in the middle of the, what the kids like to call the dog days of summer.
Cause it is Augusto.
I'm international like that.
Really.
Let's go to your standings in the American League East.
The Boston Red Sox.
Now 12 games below 500 there.
13 back.
There are five games behind the Tampa Bay race where two games behind Toronto.
Toronto currently tied with Baltimore.
And there are both six games back on the Yankees.
The Yankees starting to pull away from the pack a little bit.
In the American League Central.
The Cleveland Indians.
Seven games below 500.
They're 13 and a half back.
Very competitive division here.
There are two games worse than the shy white socks.
Who are tied with Detroit.
There are both three and a half behind Minnesota.
Minnesota.
Is eight games back on the royals.
What was making a lot of trades this week?
This is the last couple of weeks because you know the trade deadline was Friday.
So, okay.
And in the AL West.
The Oakland Athletics.
13 games below 500.
13 and a half back.
They are a game and a half behind Seattle.
Seattle is four games behind your Texas Rangers.
Your Texas Rangers getting a little bit closer.
They're now five and a half behind.
La.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Los Angeles County, California, America, North America, Earth Milky Way.
The Angels have lost five in a row.
And they're two and eight in their last ten.
Yikes.
But Houston.
Still three and a half ahead of LA.
They're seven and three in their last ten.
Houston's playing some baseball.
In the National League West.
The Colorado Rockies are terrible.
They're 14 and a half back.
They are six games behind Arizona.
Arizona and San Diego both tied.
But they're both six and a half behind San Francisco.
The Giants now two games behind Missy's beloved LA Dodgers.
Had lunch with Missy last week.
Had a great time.
It was always good to see her.
We're going to get her on the show very, very soon.
Oh, good.
Got to get some schedules lined up.
In the NL Central.
The Millawaka Brewers.
Third.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Let me do about the 18 games below 500.
They're also two and eight.
They're last ten after.
They're on a five game losing streak.
They are four and a half back on Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is.
You ready for this Cincinnati is nine and a half games back
on the Cubs.
The Cubs have won five in a row.
They're four back on Don's beloved Pirates.
The Pirates are five and a half back on John Anderson's
beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
And in the only division that matters.
The National League East.
The Philadelphia Phillies.
We're going to talk about them here in a minute.
Marlins.
Twelve and a half back.
We are three and seven in our last ten.
And there's still four games behind my beloved Braves.
Who by the way are two and eight in their last ten.
The Braves are seven and a half back on the Metz.
The Metz now a game back on the Washington Nationals.
So the NL East getting a little snug.
It is now time for America's favorite game show.
And that game show.
We already have our our guesses in the chat room.
That game show is.
What is the one differential?
For the Philadelphia Phillies.
Chad 120 120 120 is Chad's guess.
Don says 135.
Russ says minus 155.
Been a good week for the Phillies.
They went eight and two in their last ten.
They are 41 and 65.
They have a win percentage of 387.
They're 15 games back on the division.
They're a game below 500 at home.
And they are 15 to 38 on the road.
They're on a one game win streak.
It's not a streak.
This week's winner.
Closes without going over.
Chad one.
The one differential for the Philadelphia Phillies.
A minus one twenty nine.
They're kind of gaining a little ground.
I don't know.
Let me just see who's the closest to them right now.
Wow.
The closest to them is minus 65.
The boss.
Geez.
That is unfortunate.
So we're getting close to the time where we pay a lot.
Let's attention to baseball because football will be going on.
But we will still give it its due.
Just saying.
All right, sir.
You ready for deep breath?
Because we are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
It's time to combine the two for wrestling talk.
You get the feeling that Hogan just can't get out of his own way.
We talked at nausea and blast week.
And you know what?
We would ten minutes on that last week.
I don't know.
I'm the Hogan thing.
It's just get worse.
Because more of the tape has been leaked.
And as part of that week, he.
Let's some slurs loose against the gay community as he is discussing.
Apparently, one of the season finale for Hogan knows best they wanted him to go back to the house he grew up in.
And he says he went back there.
There was a man of the homosexual persuasion living there and he didn't call him that.
Hogan, Hogan, Hogan, Hogan.
And this, I'm going to say something.
This lawsuit is cooking on all cylinders right now.
His lawyers have basically gone to the judge and said, look, his career is over.
He has no earning potential at all.
Because he's suing Gocker like there's no tomorrow.
And I still am surprised that we haven't.
There's been nothing out of bubble love sponge.
No statement.
Nobody pointing fingers because this is the guy that gave it to Gocker.
Unless he's in witness protection.
That's probably why.
He probably knows better than open his mouth anymore.
Because now he's open Pandora's box.
He was replaced by the Miz on tough enough this week.
Byron Sexton now handling the tough talk post show.
I don't know if that was a one week thing or if that's going to be from here forward or not.
I'm not for sure.
But yeah, this is just getting nothing but worse.
This week during the Davis tag match, Alicia Fox suffers the concussion.
They haven't said how long if she's going to be out at all.
But somebody had a worse century than her on Monday night.
And we're going to talk about it here in a minute.
And apparently.
There's a theory out there that WWE is releasing a bunch of tough enough videos that they're hoping will sway the fans to get
out.
This is an 18 year old kid from the swamps of Louisiana.
Nice kid.
People like him.
He doesn't have the wrestling skills.
And they've they're they're last two eliminations have been guys that had wrestling skills.
That have just gotten voted out because.
They're not quality people.
Let's just put that.
So the rumor is that WWE's trying to get as easy eliminated.
Which if I find out this kind of things true, I may give up on tough enough because.
Let the show be what it is.
Yeah.
Don't try to sway people's votes.
Don't American idol this thing.
Yeah.
Okay.
Vote for the worst.
No.
Because after that last time I watched American Idol, I'm fully convinced that that show is rigged.
No.
Absolutely rigged.
That everybody wanted to stay on there.
Even though he was terrible.
Oh, I know.
Same gyya or whatever.
Yeah.
That was a long time ago.
Hmm.
I'm just saying that you had a movement of people voting for him just to keep him on.
They're just despite the show.
They did that a lot though.
Hmm.
Get my notes cut up.
I do have my iPad in the studio this week.
Thank you.
Let's talk about wrong.
Let's start with a great sign in the audience that just simply said,
I miss leg day for this.
What?
They're talking about their gym workouts, I guess.
I missed leg day for this.
Okay.
I'm going to float something out here for you.
Don kind of agrees with you.
He says on CC maybe doing the American Idol and Howard Stern thing trying to get the worst person to win.
I don't think he's bad.
He just.
Kid needs work.
I love him.
From here you talk.
He's just a jerk.
No, it's easy.
The last two people they've eliminated were.
Oh, okay, okay.
So we've got this whole diva's revolution thing going on.
Let me float something out there for you.
Is it possible that we could unify those belts?
Would you want to?
I'm just asking.
Do you have an NXT women's title about on Raw?
Because you've got to do something with that belt when it comes to NXT.
Because you've got diva's an NXT that might want to shot at that belt.
And I don't think if you have Sasha Banks dropped that title,
I don't think it hurts her because she's on the main roster.
Unless you're doing this as a temporary thing.
And the only way I could see this as a temporary thing is I got two, two deals on that.
One, you have her drop it at night of champions, which is next month.
Or do you keep these ladies around long enough to do a survivor series?
Loser goes home match.
And the WWE team is win.
So NXT has to go back to NXT.
As long as they keep, it's fine a way of keeping interest in this women's division that seems to really be growing.
It's like this well-spring kind of got started with the whole Stephanie segment a couple of weeks ago
and it just keeps to somehow seem to keep catching fire.
I didn't think that was something that would ever happen in this.
Or could you have a title match that puts both belts in the same faction?
Because you got three girls at each one.
Yeah.
I just don't know if you're unifying that belt.
We'll do you much good.
Not at this stage because that one belt's worth it.
Or do you unify them and tell whoever wins it, you've got a choice.
You can be NXT Women's Champion or you can be WWE Divis Champion.
They've got to do something.
Yeah.
Because I feel like this diva's revolution is really gaining some momentum.
But what I'm afraid of is that it's going to fall by the wayside if you don't do something else.
Yeah.
You have to keep this thing fresh.
That's what I'm saying.
I love the fact that you're getting more than one diva's match on these programs.
Because it's give diva's a chance.
It's finally happening.
But you have to keep it fresh.
Just saying.
Because they've gotten way too accustomed to just starting something, sitting on their
laurels and just seeing how it's plays and plays itself out.
They take a real hands off approach to it.
Like, oh, I don't know.
Everything.
Well, like the thing that always haunts me is Nexus.
It could have been so great.
I mean, that was that was one of the single greatest opportunities this company has had
in a decade and they completely squandered it.
Don't make that same mistake.
We have a diva diva.
Let's talk on the clothes pass.
I can catch.
Well, because it's actually.
It's a good thing.
I'm not complaining.
Yeah.
I mean, just for the first time in ages, diva's actually seems somewhat relevant.
They've got a really good crop.
And they've got to do something with it.
Don't do nothing with it.
Don't screw this up.
Like you've screwed everything else up.
I really would like to see the budget they give Lana for her shoes.
She leaves her shoes behind every week.
And these don't look like cheap shoes.
I am not a shoe efficient auto.
Well, you got her.
I'm not a shoe.
I can't even say it.
There's no, there's no pun there.
But.
There's nothing funny down there.
Uh, but my got she leaves her shoes behind every week.
Well, you've got her shoes.
You've got a what's your name with the neon and her shoes.
All the freaking time.
Oh, you're talking about Naomi.
Yeah.
Imagine what that shoe budget is.
Yeah, but she probably could just wear the same pair of boots.
And just attaches that thing to the bottom of them.
You never know.
You don't know how those shoes work.
I will not debate that.
I don't know how those shoes work.
But if it were me.
I don't know.
It's weird.
And.
Memo to Alicia Fox.
This was.
Did you watch wrong?
No.
Okay.
So wait.
I'll watch part of it over here.
Did you watch the divas match?
You weren't with me when this happened.
I guess not.
Alicia Fox tries to put Charlotte to do it.
Surfboard.
Um.
Can't stop.
You'd say this without laughing.
You know the maneuver, right?
It's the maneuver where one person's on their back and they're holding the arms.
Okay.
Yeah.
Memo to Alicia Fox.
You can't do the surfboard maneuver on Charlotte when she's so tall.
You can't lift her legs up.
This was so.
This was so awkward unintentionally comical.
It read.
I was like, oh, just bail on this and she tried it two or three times.
Like, just bail on this because this is not going to happen.
Bale on this bit.
Like, when you see somebody trying to do it.
Turn buckle moving their foot.
Keep slipping off the rope before they can step up on the turn buckle.
And so have you seen the scene of pictures?
No.
Monday night on raw.
Oh, wait.
The nose.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
And you know what?
He still finished the match.
There was no quick finish to it.
If I'm not mistaken, and I could be wrong.
That match went another 10 minutes.
Hmm.
I mean, they had to stop at two or three times so they could get the blood out of
scene of his nose.
Which I get.
I mean, because I got could breathe.
But he finished the match.
And he's been taken off the Australian tour.
Cesaro is actually taking his place in matches on the overseas tour coming up.
So they can get him healed up.
But yeah, that was ugly.
It's off to the guy.
That was ugly.
That's there.
There ain't no way.
When I saw that, it looked like he had just been.
Piled driven into concrete.
Yeah.
nose first.
So I don't know how long they're going to take to heal.
I don't know if they're going to put him in a mask or they're just going to take him off TV for a while.
But you know, it's because in one scene, I could cover for him.
No, you could do that.
You could do that because then the mask would protect the other mask.
I'm just saying.
Let's get into TNA talk.
And what could be the honest headline I've heard all week.
Because I had no idea this was even a thing.
Congratulations to Angelina love expecting her first child.
Which led me to the question of who she dating.
David Richards from the wolves didn't know that was a thing.
But they're expecting there six weeks along almost seven weeks along.
Congratulations to those crazy kids.
Just trying to make their way in this world.
I just saw that it went.
Did I miss a meeting?
When did that happen?
But that's the thing.
I don't know how much longer she'll stay in there.
I don't know how much longer she'll stay in there.
Because I don't know how that works.
Like, do you automatically are you just done in the ring at that point?
Or is there a certain length you can still go?
I would assume it would be if you're in almost eight weeks that you would probably be out of the ring by that point.
Because that's two thirds of the way through the first trimester.
So congratulations to those kids.
Little impact talk.
Memo to TNA.
If you're gonna pump in crowd noise and WWE does it too, but at least they don't have to do it right.
You're putting in cheering at the end of that EY Chris Melendez match.
It was immeasurable how little that crowd carry.
And you're hearing.
Nobody was moving.
Like there was nobody was even trying to like swat it flies or anything.
Like they were just standing there.
It was the place haunted.
I was just like, this is horrible editing.
Not that I respect anything stellar out of TNA.
Come on then.
And I cannot describe to you.
I hope Donna, I hope you watch this and you can give feedback on this.
You know how they did the whole.
Jared thing.
And we're gonna talk about that here in a minute.
You weren't there through all of it, back to where you.
Thought I saw them.
I suffered through most of it.
Did you see the backstage interstitial with him in Corrigan?
If you had you to remember.
Okay, I guess not.
Jared shows up backstage and there's Billy Corrigan in his little hoodie.
Could not have overacted any more.
And I wish if this was a visual meeting and people would understand what I'm talking about.
But I'm gonna show you the body language of Billy Corrigan.
Okay, Jared walks up, man hug and they're talking and he nods and he does this twice.
Like the overactive silent laugh.
It was so bad that Corrigan's doing Corrigan did this.
And I was like, are you kidding me dude?
Like it was terrible.
I was like,
And then they, like EC3 said a hole.
And they believed, yeah.
And he actually said he said the words a hole.
Like I'm not, I'm not abbreviating.
This is what he said and they believed it.
Like how many times have we heard that phrase uttered?
Okay, more times than I can count.
And you know, this week is no surrender.
Which you should be a paper of you, but it's beyond the point.
Because they realize nobody will pay for this cred.
And it's just so weird watching that show going.
That person's gone.
And I said this last week was that person's gone.
That person's gone.
You said it while we were watching it the other night.
Yeah, it's just so weird.
That's all I got for TV talk.
Not much going on there.
Also heard, I believe it was Thursday night.
I got the notification from WWE.
It might have been a Friday.
Leila.
Retiring.
I didn't have everything.
But she has officially retired from the business.
I know she's had a couple of injuries that have kind of hindered her.
But I was enjoyed her work.
Former Miami Heat dancer.
Beautiful girl.
Any idea what she's doing or I don't know.
I haven't read anything else.
I got the notification from WWE.
Maybe it was, no, I think you were here.
So it had to been Thursday.
Because Friday I went to your house.
Right.
So it would have to been Thursday.
Also, whoo boy.
China isn't talks for the UK celebrity big brother.
Oh, no.
This poor girl.
Can we do something for her?
Do we need to do we need like a crowd funding to just get her a comfortable life or something?
Because I mean, I thought, I thought for a minute there there were some talks with her
for maybe a Hall of Fame thing.
I thought I guess that's, I haven't heard anything else about that.
What a shame.
Also, by the way, tomorrow night.
Right after raw in the network, which means I'll hear it next week.
The next stone cold podcast with page.
I'm intrigued by this.
Yeah.
Because there's a lot about her that we really don't know.
I don't know that we'll get it from that particular interview.
Maybe she does one that's not in a WWE studio.
Page.
I thought you meant like, no, that didn't mean how.
That didn't mean.
He's going to be DDP two or three times.
Page Diva page.
So I'll hear that next Tuesday.
Because that's when he'll release it.
Smackdown talk.
Who was it all the confetti?
And he opened segment.
Was there like a superstars match that had confetti in it that I missed?
Possibly.
Like the first 20 minutes there was just confetti falling up the ceiling.
That's weird.
It looked like there was just some sort of a political rally in there either.
That afternoon or the day before or something.
And I do have to wonder if Cesaro's on and on thing was a shot at Gerrit's Hall of Fame speech.
I think so.
Which I timed that with the music very well.
But you think.
Yeah.
Because it was just like every other word.
Then the list goes on and on.
Yeah, Gerrit.
We get it.
The list goes on and on.
Move on.
But I wonder if Cesaro's saying that was a shot.
I can't help but think that it was.
And great sign on Smackdown.
Um.
Three socks on a sign.
One dress like coffee.
One dress like Xavier Woods and one dress like Biggie.
New day socks.
I just I actually just laughed at that.
Funny.
You gotta give credit or credits do.
That was funny.
You did.
You did.
Creepy.
Wackety.
Hey.
You can't dog it because it's something different.
It's not new day three 16.
It's not you know, seeing enough.
It's it's something different.
It don't talk to about our we out to ROH.
There was a four corners tag team match on ROH.
And remember we were talking about cheese burger coming to the ring.
It's an actual guy on our way.
And if you listen closely at one point in the crowd was shedding.
Let's go jobbers.
Just come on.
And ROH this week new episode debuted yesterday locally.
Not a bad episode this week again.
Since I'm telling you they're consistently putting out good stuff.
But somebody's got to.
It's hard to do stuff like that in an hour, man.
It is hard to do good quality stuff in an hour.
And this whole tag team thing that's going on with low amount of Doris and the new day.
And the ascension and the prime time players.
You don't want to see out of this.
I want to see a best of three or a best of five or a best of seven.
With the with the three that don't have the belts for the title shot.
Because this has been a lot of fun to watch.
But I will say this and this is something that my wife didn't catch but I caught.
So Zara was in a tag match.
And he had to find a tag partner because he didn't have one.
And they're like, you have any there were interviewing him backstage.
And he goes, have you found a partner?
And he goes, having found a partner and he looked at his arm day in the head.
Tyson kids and aim on it.
And then look back and said, here.
That was cool.
I got to give credit where credits do it.
That was cool.
And you know what?
When kid gets back, put the belts on him.
Don't break him up.
Because you could at this point with this monster push that Zara was on.
But they're such a great tag team.
You could even put gold on Cesaro and still let them tag.
And just not do that whole.
Oh, I have a golden you don't angle.
Yeah, but you know the WWE.
They can't help themselves.
They have to freaking completely screw with the chemistry of a team if they do something like that.
I'm so glad Cesaro's getting this push.
I could not be happier.
You're listening to the clubhouse podcast as we're wrapping up wrestling talk.
We are three weeks from the next paper view.
Summerslam.
Live from the Barclays Center.
Later this month.
And remember kids, Summerslam's a four hour paper view.
So we're going to be on an hour earlier than normal.
We'll be on at the sixth Eastern three Pacific.
Three weeks from today August the 23rd.
Is there anything Summerslam needed?
It's another hour.
It was another hour.
And now they're back and out the sting thing.
So, we'll see.
You ready for this next thing, sir?
Because it's time for in memoriam.
This in memoriam thing goes feast or famine.
We'll go weeks and have nothing to talk about.
And then like this week we have three.
We're going to start with one thing happened right after we went off the air.
Last Sunday.
And the name might not hit you right away.
But you know who this is.
Vick Firth.
Pass away at the age of 85 last Sunday.
If you're a musician, you know who this guy is.
He founded his company in 1963 in Boston.
Vick Firth builds itself as the world's largest manufacturer of drumsticks and mallets that are made in Newport main.
They actually in 2010 merged with Zilgin who makes symbols.
Right.
Oh yeah.
I do want to make the roast apparently Titus O'Neill when they were in San Diego this weekend.
It took a bunch of homeless people out to dinner.
I did see that.
So good to have.
Geez.
I didn't know this.
Vick Firth was the principal.
The symphony player for the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1956 to 2002.
God.
When he started when he started as a percussionist as a general percussionist in 52 he was the orchestra's youngest member.
This is a guy that if you are a musician or if you know somebody who's a drummer and you've ever watched them play.
You've seen this guy's name on sticks.
They are.
He was born in Winchester, Massachusetts.
He was raised in Sanford, Maine.
He was a son of a successful trumpet player.
Learning the cornet at age four.
Oh my gosh.
Then turn to percussion, trombone, clarinet, piano, and arranging.
By the time he got to high school he was a full-time percussionist and created an 18 piece band at age 16.
God Almighty.
How the bachelor's degree as well as an honorary doctorate in music from the New England Conservatory in Boston.
I mean, I was texting drummer friends of mine as soon as I found this album.
Do you hear about this?
And all of us at the same thing.
We're legend.
Also passing away this week that Russ actually told me about Lynn Anderson.
Born September 26th, 1947.
She's the one who originally recorded I never promised you a rose garden.
Really?
Which is also done by George Clooney's mama.
She was very, very popular and successful in the 70s.
12 number ones, 18 top 10s and more than 50 top 40 hits.
Dear God.
Top female vocalist by the ACM's twice female vocalist of the year by the CMAs.
She did win a Grammy that of the seven nominations she had in her career.
People's Choice Award and an American Music Award.
She was also billboards female artist of the decade in the 70s.
Wow.
She was the first female country artist to win an AMA in 1974.
And...
Hold on to this.
Lynn Anderson.
First person to headline and sell out Madison Square Garden.
Really?
debut in 1966 at the age of 19.
Try to figure if there's anything else.
She was born in North Dakota and raised in Farrowks, California.
Her great grandfather was born in Norway.
And later life she actually met her relatives through a Norwegian television series.
Started singing at the age of six.
Had her first success in the horse show arena in and around California,
where she would eventually win a total of 700 trophies,
including the California horse show queen title in 1966.
She was...
Let's see.
Oh, one of her mother's compositions was recorded by Merle Haggard,
and came in number 10.
All my friends are going to be strangers.
But that's not a country music song.
I don't know what is brother.
But as soon as he said to me,
I knew who she was.
I knew the name.
And then there's this.
Friday.
Say that the house after work kind of decompressing before I went over it,
meet up with you.
I got to go see your cousin.
Get a text from friend of the show, Chris Randall,
that Roddy Piper had passed away at the age of 61.
Which if you know,
Randall's not the kind of guy that follows wrestling.
So when somebody of his elk texts me to tell me
a wrestler has died,
obviously there are some widgets that you didn't see there.
Got it verified fairly quickly.
Died in a sleep.
Heart failure.
And it was really weird because I was watching Ring of Honor yesterday.
And he has that commercial where I speak for the silent or I stand for the silent or whatever it is.
That was just weird to see.
I mean, this was a guy.
If you don't have Roddy Piper,
I don't know that WrestleMania goes as well as it does.
No.
Because this been well documented that literally Vince
mortgageed his house on WrestleMania.
I bet the farm.
Literally bet the farm.
This was a guy, one of the greatest heels of all time.
This was a guy that wasn't afraid to push envelopes.
And more often than not new which envelopes to push.
You didn't hear a lot of,
especially until later in life,
you didn't hear a lot of
Piper causing controversy,
at least like a fending people.
Right.
Now nowadays,
you hit a Simone with a coconut.
You've got a problem.
I was about to say there is that.
But back then it wasn't the thing it would have been now.
The whole, just when you think you have the answers,
I changed the questions.
One of my favorite comments he's ever made.
Piper's pit paved the way.
It was really the first quote-unquote talk show in wrestling that really,
it fed everybody else.
It created the barber shop.
It created the snake pit.
It created the funeral home.
It created Miss TV.
It created the highlight reel.
The cutting edge.
The peep show.
I mean, do I need to keep going?
No.
One of the greatest micworkers in the history of Ever.
And then, you know,
he turns face and had that great feud with Hogan.
Even when they were older in WCW.
I mean,
you know,
mainstream audiences remember they live.
Which I say what you want.
I enjoyed that movie.
I truly didn't enjoy that film.
Don, Don says that,
you know, he was the first true heel in the current age.
Him and Flair might be one in one A on that category.
And see, when you put those two together in the ring.
Oh, yeah.
That's when magic happened.
Don says his first live wrestling show was at the Igloo in Pittsburgh in 1988.
He saw him take on Snooka.
And it was right after the coconut.
It's really.
Yeah.
When Flair and Piper would work together.
Oh, dear God.
Flair.
Just sit down and enjoy the ride man.
Flair selling everything that I completely had him.
And the eye poke was over selling it.
And it worked.
And it was greatness.
I know I'm not a fan of overselling.
It's one of the things that just gets under my skin.
But watching these two guys go at it.
Hogan referred to him as one of his best friends.
He was he in bread heart of cousins.
Which I always forget about.
I always remember that because reading Brett's book and read or was a
Piper's book and reading that towards the end.
I was like, did not see that coming.
It's.
If it's just one of those things, man, much just like.
Just watching your just watching your childhood fade away.
You know, you know, the line I found out.
He had so many friends in this business.
He had the last month for him was a little weird.
But at the end of it all, he was loved.
He was respected.
He is a true Hall of Famer.
A true legend.
He is a true legend in this business.
And he will never ever, ever be forgotten.
I guarantee you go through the locker rooms now.
And you won't, you'll lose count on how many guys have said.
When I did this, I stole it from Roddy Piper.
When I said this, I lifted it from someone I heard Piper say.
You know, a friend of the show Dev and Pike.
When he got married, he got a local radio personality to officiate the ceremony.
And he wanted to work killed.
And he said, I'm only going to do it if I can do it Piper style.
And Dev and didn't know what that meant back then.
But he showed up in the hotrod shirt.
And years later, he ran into Piper.
And he showed Piper the picture and Piper looked at him and smiled and said,
If that was your officiant, your marriage is going to last forever.
You will be Mr.
And that's just all there is to it.
You know, Dawn talks about Piper's pit.
It rustle many of five with Morton Downey Jr.
Draws the talks about Piper and Valentine, a dot collar match in 1983 starkade.
I mean, the list goes on and on.
But let's do some movie talk, shall we?
Let's do it.
Boxed office numbers.
Dropping out of the top 10 this week.
Mr. Holmes was at nine last week.
It drops out with 2.4 million, 3 weeks, 10.4 million dollars.
Terminator Genices did $900,000 this weekend.
Five weeks, 87.7 million on a 155.
So the mother of Android could not help this one.
But you get to play him in the game.
For what? That's worth.
Well, I was probably what replaced Cogan.
10th place dropping from 8 to 10 this week.
Jurassic World $3.8 million.
8 weeks, 631.5 million dollars on a $150 million dollar.
Crushed it.
Dropping from 7 to 9 this week inside out.
$4.5 million dollars.
7 weeks, 329.6 million dollars.
175 million dollar budget.
That's deep.
Doing well and deservedly so.
Piper Towns drops from 6 to 8.
4.8 million dollars.
2 weeks, 23.8 million dollars on this.
12 million.
For paper towns.
Okay, okay, okay.
South paw drops from 5 to 7.
7.5 million dollars.
2 weeks, 31.6 million dollars.
So good news for South paw.
Doing very, very well.
Train wreck drops from 4 to 6.9.7 million dollars.
3 weeks, 79.7 million dollars.
It has over doubled its budget.
So Amy Schumer gaining a little clout.
Pixels drops from the silver medal to fifth place this week.
10.4 million dollars.
2 weeks, 45.6 on an $88 million budget.
Nice.
Minions drops from the bronze medal to fourth place, 12.2 million dollars.
4 weeks, 287.4 million dollars.
74 million dollar budget.
And man, drops from the gold medal to third place this week, 12.6 million dollars.
3 weeks, 132.2 million dollars.
130 million dollar budget.
So they're going to do all right when it's all said and done.
So your silver and gold medals this week are debuts debuting in the silver medal position.
Vacation.
14.9 million dollars for the weekend total since Wednesday night.
21.2 million dollars.
I don't know what the budget is.
I'm going to see if you have the ability to look that up real quick.
I will see what I can do.
Because it's not from our friends at box office in Mojo.
And taking the.
Taking the weekend.
Let me get this up for you.
It's got to go right there.
Do you know?
Do you know the number?
No, I have no idea.
I'm going to take a guess.
I'll give you this vacation to 14.9.
42 at 10.
Actually, I had 14.
56 million dollars.
And people are saying this is amazing.
93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Wow.
And this is.
This is a crowd that probably doesn't do much care for Tom Cruise anymore.
I mean, got to respect it.
93% of Rotten Tomatoes.
56 million opening weekend.
I don't have a budget on it either.
Wow.
There are impairments already backing him for another sequel.
Well, I mean, it makes money.
So we have news from the Wonder Woman front.
Steve Trevor has been cast in Wonder Woman.
Captain Kirk himself.
Chris Pine.
Steve Trevor.
He's scared not.
Not Shatner.
My god, man.
Like what?
But she is so much younger than I.
Bye.
The women and everything I do.
No, they're going to like portray him as an older version of himself.
Talking about it.
No, no, no.
Chris Pine.
Interound.
I'm good with that.
I just, I want this to be good.
So badly.
I just, I want this to work.
Because how long have we waited for this?
This is the 70s?
Yeah.
We need this to happen.
Also, big news that we talked about briefly after the show last week.
It has been confirmed.
Mark Hamill will voice the Joker in the killing joke.
Thank you.
And I made it serious.
God.
You got to think this was a no-brainer.
Like you have to.
But you know what?
I wouldn't.
I'd have been okay if they'd have gotten a dude that did it for Dark Knight Returns.
No.
I'd have been okay either way.
No.
No.
This, this, this, this, this, this.
This had to be the guy.
But if it wasn't, that would have been my second choice.
The guy from a person of interest.
Also.
With born five coming.
Tamile Jones.
Be on board.
Your silence is deafening, sir.
He's doing the next Jason Bourne film.
Oh, oh.
I was like, he's, what?
Well, that's Chris Pine is the new Lyle Wagner.
He is technically.
Yeah.
Tamile Jones in the next Jason Bourne film.
What if he's going to be playing the, the heavy.
Oh, it was casted up.
But what?
That's my Tommy Lee Jones.
It's not very good.
Okay.
Alligores College Room.
But you know, I've never really been,
I've never really embraced a Bourne franchise.
I don't think I've seen any of them.
Really?
I don't think I've seen a single one of them.
I've been, I've at least enjoyed all of them.
Like, the bar for me for the Bourne film has been
Enjoyable and above.
But I'm on board.
Because you know, a big time of the Jones fans.
As am I.
Also, in an interview this week,
Ivan Wrightman has shot down any other ghostbuster
Spin-ups.
He said the Paul Figuan is the only one.
The rest of it's just noise.
Okay.
So the 21 Jones Street Cross overs pretty much
have been effectively shot down.
As far as I know.
Yeah.
Haven't heard otherwise.
So that's what he's saying.
Also, Lions Gate is now in talks for a live action
version of Naruto.
One of the enemies that the kids with the clothes in the hair
are a lot of so much.
Last Airbender.
Well, that was Shawn Malamalamalamalam.
Have you seen the trailer for his new film?
No.
No.
Out.
Out.
What's the, what's the gist?
Well, first of all, you know, I hate horror films.
These, this is a couple of kids that go to spend some time with their grandparents.
And their grandparents tell them.
930.
You go to bed.
Don't come out of the room.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Don't come out of the room.
Because apparently there's some kind of evil in the town that takes over everybody in the town.
It, I'm telling you, this trailer is creepy.
Like, there's a one point where the grandma is like, would you get in the oven to clean it for me?
And then she shuts the kid in the oven.
I'm out.
Oh, dear Lord.
I'm out.
I thought I could need a shower when that trailer was over.
No, how much I can stay in films like that.
I like the underwear that I have.
Just saying.
I mean, you might dig this thing.
Because you know, that's your wheelhouse.
Yeah, really is.
But this trailer freaked me out.
Freak me clean now.
You wear this whole dead pole thing.
What's the latest?
When the trailer is dropping?
No.
Okay.
I'll be there.
On Conan O'Brien.
Oh, I'll make sure that the DVR set on the cruise will be online next morning.
Revitivity media has filed for bankruptcy.
Really?
Last year, they lost $130 million, which now puts the crow reboot on hold.
Yeah.
So they're looking for somebody to purchase the company, but so far no takers.
Do they have any other viable franchisees that people would want to snatch up?
Or I've not heard anything.
It's probably one of those kind of things where they're just going to pick it apart.
Movie new releases in places you see movie new releases this week.
You just mentioned it a moment ago.
Dragon Ball Z, resurrection F.
Because there were so many unanswered questions from resurrection E.
What is this?
It's the theme to enter the track.
This is like this is the karaoke show theme for like a whole year.
It's because I'd love this song.
Lalo Sheffron sir.
It's just been a long time since I heard it.
Ah, Sean the sheep.
Have you seen this trailer yet?
No, I have.
It looks very, very funny.
These are the same guys.
Yeah.
These are the same guys are the Ardenman who brought you a while.
Austin Grommet.
Chicken Run.
This looks really funny.
Basically the sheep have spent their entire lives fooling the farmer.
You're thinking there's more of them than there are.
And they've like reset his alarms so he doesn't wake up or anything.
And then one day the trailer that he lives and comes loose and rolls into the city and they go to try to rescue him.
And Sean the sheep gets captured.
So then they got to rescue him too.
It looks really, really funny.
Fantastic for this week.
We will set you a guarantee that you will know what we think of it by Friday.
Also the gift.
This is the Jason Bateman thing where the guy, like he has a new wife and a house.
And there's this guy that comes long and they come friends with.
The queues but queuing presents on them.
And then they find out like he was a guy that Bateman picked on in high school and things get kind of fatal attraction.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm out on this one.
Out.
Yeah.
Ricky in the flash.
With the Meryl Streep and starring.
Let me see if I could pull something up for you on that front.
Let's see.
Wow.
I'm looking at some of this stuff that relativity has been responsible for.
Uh oh.
I need to spell something right here.
They've had some really rock solid stuff that they've been arranged.
That's what I'm looking for.
Co-starring with.
Meryl Streep and Ricky in the flash.
Written by Diablo Cody is this guy.
I enjoy his fine work.
Somehow I don't think you're going to enjoy this.
You're going to know what I think by Friday.
Also dark places.
There's a bunch of people on this thing.
A bunch of big names.
Starting Charlize Theron.
Written by Jillian Flynn who wrote Gone Girl.
You'll know what we thought about that on Friday as well.
And I need to pull this one up because I don't quite remember why I put this on the list.
I want you to just enjoy Jesse's girlfriend just a moment.
Oh come on.
There we go.
What?
Are you having problems with the Wi-Fi where you are?
Yeah.
Oh that's why I did this.
It's called the runner.
And the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill and idealistic but flawed politician is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal.
Connie Nielsen in this thing was last time he heard her name.
Sarah Paulson, Peter Fonda, Wendell Pierce from the Wire.
But starting in this film are you ready?
Why am I in this movie?
I never am sure which one you're referring to there.
Nick Cage or Keanu Reeves.
No, Nick Cage because that's not just exactly why.
When Sam Berg used to do Nick Cage on Saturday Night Live, it was in the cage with Nick Cage.
And every time you mention a movie, why would I not in this movie?
What a train wreck.
DVD and blue right new release isn't a place that you get DVD and new blue right new releases this Tuesday.
The divergent series in Surgeon.
Never saw the first one.
My wife quite enjoyed it.
But I just never saw it.
I will be your miss probably to not mention happy birthday to Kevin Smith.
Yes, 45 years old today one of my leaders.
One of our inspirations for doing this fine program.
You are absolutely true sir.
We are actually waiting for the trailer for yoga hoses.
You showed it San Diego.
It's better month.
Come on.
Also child 44 this has Tom Hardy.
This thing's really creepy.
Basically there's this guy killing kids.
He takes place in Germany.
And his kid or somebody else's kid is the 44th that he's hunting that he's taken.
But they don't know that they've killed him yet.
I believe it takes place.
I will skip that part.
Do you believe faith-based film did very well in theaters available this week?
A barely lethal.
Which I'm actually interested in.
This is the thing with Sam Jackson.
And the girl who's like a CIA agent that tries to just go to normal high school.
We talked about it about a month ago.
Okay.
True story with Jonah Hill and James Franco.
Where basically he's a reporter that writes a story about a guy that may or name.
It's in prison, but may or may not be guilty.
Remember this thing?
Yes.
Yes.
Criterion collection does night in the city this week.
And adult beginners on DVD and blue writing this week.
Which we actually have a review on if you go and subscribe on iTunes.
You can find that.
Let's see if I can see where that one is.
I don't see it.
I'm going to tell you which.
Which was iTunes exclusive number 96.
You want you want some interesting stats there sir?
Since adult beginners.
That was number 96.
Uh huh.
We've done 26 more.
I got.
We've been busy.
I think I keep seeing your like your
The paper that was taped to your seat or something.
That's out.
Yeah.
So my press notes.
Interesting news for chat.
As we go into tech corner.
Epcot has something come home.
Are you looking at the run treats?
Yes.
I am.
A captain EO has returned to Epcot.
I guess it's the 30th anniversary of it.
And it's original theater.
Good.
Back in the in the journey into imagination pavilion.
So cool.
So it's apparently it's already happening.
Like when I saw the article.
It's like yeah.
It's happening.
I mean has it.
It's already happened.
It's it's going.
It's going.
So cool.
So.
Any tech corner stuff that you've got this week?
No.
No.
This is going.
Windows 10.
Oh.
You want to.
Dropped.
I.
There's not much of a learning curve with Windows 10.
I can say my laptop's been behaving a little bit better.
But it's only been four days.
My only thing.
And I'm putting this out there.
The only glitch I found so far is if I'm at another computer.
And I e-myself an office document.
I cannot open it as an attachment in the e-mail.
I can't even open it if I download it and try to open it.
There's some kind of a bug in there, Microsoft.
Get it figured out.
I know you're not doing any patches for at least a week.
But be aware that this is out there.
I just can't believe they're not doing any patches.
Or they're probably just trying to because I still have my other.
My broadcast PC that has Windows 7.
I still haven't got me upgrade.
And I registered on both of them.
Hmm.
So.
I think they're still trying to get it out there.
But I do like office 13 a lot.
So I'm not rolling back.
All right.
Street light is on.
Not that one.
That one.
We end every show with a list and this week is no exception.
I had two different lists.
I was thinking about this past week.
I think I'm going to save the other one for a little bit later.
But I thought I figured I'd do the top 10 unfortunate sports nicknames.
I went through a lot of different websites list to try to pull 10 out.
Because some of them was like, ah, that one doesn't make much sense.
There was one of them.
There was a lot of them that were like that means two things.
They really didn't want to go into.
But number 10 from the Kansas City A's.
That's actually how far this goes back.
Kansas City A's.
Picture James Catfish Hunter.
They need to catfish, dude.
We do.
That's the that's the the glove that I had when I played a little league baseball.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Catfish Hunter glove.
But two different brawls and baseball today.
I've seen since we've been on the air.
Number nine.
Nick Apple Pie Mango.
Oh, why?
That just was, was that his favorite food?
Maybe he's the all American.
I was like, really?
Number eight.
And I remember this kid from college when he went to LSU.
Glenn Big Baby Davis.
Yeah.
Number zero.
God.
Like all I can think of is,
why don't you in the province?
Big Baby.
Yeah.
Then because they had the guy, they were the,
were the dipole and had the pacifier.
Promenade.
Yeah, he had that.
I don't know if he actually had a really, if he had a real name.
I'm just saying.
I think Big Baby.
I think Promenade.
Number seven.
Oh, this poor guy.
Vernal Coles.
All right.
You might know him.
Vernal Bimbo.
Oh.
I give it every time I see the,
the Mexican food company logo.
You know?
Like, thanks guys.
Did you hear how it was speaking of which?
Do you hear how John Oliver referred to Mexico two weeks ago in his show?
No.
Spicy Canada.
I love that show.
Number six.
First of all, why does Kobe Bryant need a nickname?
Much less the black mamba.
Like, isn't that a ride over six flags down the road?
Maybe.
And that just happened what?
Who years ago?
Oh, no, no, no.
The black mamba?
No.
Really?
Oh, he said that for a while.
Not only heard it a couple of years ago.
No, he said that for number five from the Charlotte Hornets.
Larry Grand Mama Johnson.
None of these commercials.
Yes.
And he's a local guy, too.
Is he really?
Yeah.
Did not know that.
Yeah.
He's got a, he's got a rec center downtown named after him.
He's from, he went to Skyline if I'm not mistaken.
Well, played Russ.
Russ wants to know a brutal colds is the very, a married soul.
Oh, shut up.
Well, play sir.
Knit win.
See, that's twice tonight.
Do you've laughed and stuff that you don't think you should laugh at?
Fucking Russ.
Number four.
And I didn't know this was his nickname until recently.
Larry Bird's nickname was the Hick from French.
Ah, yeah.
I've heard that a long time.
Wow.
But again, did he need a nickname?
It's Larry Bird.
Number number three.
JD Drew.
They nicknamed him.
Nance.
So I'm going to ask with.
I'm sorry.
It sounds like that to hold Jim Rome thing when he got flipped over five by,
Ever.
Ever.
Yeah.
Go ahead.
Say it again.
Say it again.
Chris.
Yeah.
Number two.
Anthony McFarland.
We all remember him as Booker McFarland.
And I'm sure he just listened.
We did.
Oh, he's part of McFarland.
And number one.
What if the manliest man in the history of baseball?
Even.
Tommy Lee Jones played him in a movie.
Ty Cobb's nickname was the Georgia Peach.
Wasn't that the team in a league of their own?
Yes, it was.
I'm a peep.
Kobe beef, Brian.
Well played, Russ.
I'll leave the joke that I told what's told about that off the show.
Um.
Would you always jump out the car window?
Because I was afraid lightning was about to strike it.
Any anything that you could think of off the top of your head?
I always get a little queasy over tug.
But I don't think that's a nickname, isn't it?
Actually, no.
Isn't that his actual.
I believe it is.
That's actual.
That's actual.
That's actual name.
It's like.
Remind me when we got out fair of one that I read.
I was like, I just can't put that one around here.
And it's somebody that's played in this fair bird.
And I never heard of them call this individual that.
So.
To say the only one that just doesn't sit well with me is tug.
And that's his actual name.
All right.
Anything else?
That'll do.
That's do the plugs.
