It is 8 o'clock on the east coast, it is 5 o'clock on the west coast
It is Tuesday night, it's 26th of July in the year of our Lord 2011
That only means one thing, it is time for the clubhouse with Robin Cody live on Ustream Welcome
In his season 2 episode 3, I am Rob, the voice you are about to hear is out of Cody
Hello and a little under the weather, you sound a little, you sound a little stopped up
I'm a little deeper than usual, so please bear with me
I had to start off tonight by saying I am the smartest man alive
No you're not
I made a bold prediction on these airways
You made a bold prediction that this was gonna be over 3 weeks ago
Last Tuesday night I made a bold prediction, we took air next week, the NFL lockout would be over
And it is, so I'm trying to remember this moment
We are going to be joined by a very special guest
We're not even going to say who it is, if you know if you're in the chat room you know
If you just saw on Facebook update that I just did, you might know
But normally this would be chicken studio, we had some logistical issues
So we had to go a different route, but we have a very very very very special guest
Going to join us
Right towards the end of movie talk
So you're going to want to stick around for that
Absolutely
But you know what else marks today?
Did you notice that in the email I sent you?
I remember we had...
Fifty-five...
Fifty-five...
Straight-five straight
Without missing a Tuesday night
Even when we're in different time zones
You know I'm working hurt tonight
You are, you are working a little hurt, and we appreciate you
If you need to tag out, let me know
No, it's all good
I can call in Ruby Sessions' biographer, he can come in, do a little bit for you
I don't know
But as we do on this show, each and every week, the very very first thing we like to do is talk about corrections
I just love the beginning of this song, I don't know why
I listened to the show, got the email from PricewaterhouseToday, it said we were clean
Is there anything that you have from my last week's episode?
Because sometimes you do catch stuff that I don't
No, I...
There might have been something but nothing significant enough that I don't think anybody else would have caught it either
So something I think that we've been pretty good at as of recent weeks
Because we catch the corrections during the show
Which kind of helps
But uh...
All right, so shall we just pull this trail out of the station?
Yes, jump in
All right, I knew you're reprimving to fire this time
I love that we always, we've been starting to show this next segment
Just because of this right here
Wow
I know, I know, they're going, hang on a minute
There was not a NASCAR race this week
That is correct, absolutely correct
But we are on the eve of one of their bigger events
As a Brickyard 400
We'll take place Sunday
At the Legendary Indianapolis, Melbourne
Can I ask you a question about this course
As you know if you listen to this show
You know that I am NASCAR stupid
I make no bones about that
Cody has educated me in the ways of NASCAR over the last 55 weeks or so
Did the whole track used to be Brick?
Yes, and it only one strip left
This has one strip of just the start of this one
In NASCAR you kiss the bricks when you win
But it looked like everybody was doing it
The whole crew
Oh, just the crew
But only the winner
The crew achieved the car on everything
The thing about Indy
Is, you know, the Jeff Gordon's wanted
Dale Earnhardt's wanted
Tony Stewart's wanted
Jimmy Johnson's wanted
It can get it when it first started
It was such a big deal to have the Southern race
League or whatever you want to call it
Be at a place that was so hallowed by Indy car
Which is a lot of foreigners, a lot of a northern-based
I'm going to use a say promotion
That's not right, that's what I'm going to use
So if NASCAR is WCW
And Indy car would be WCW
Indy always had a little bit more higher standard of itself
Than NASCAR did
Now they can't say that because Indy
Struggling to get on television
That is true, a lot of their bigger drivers
I.e. Danica Patrick
Already to make the move to NASCAR
One Pablo Montoya
He has done that
Well, Tony Stewart, Robbie Gordon in the past
The thing about it makes Indy so excitable
Is the history of Indy not as far as we go
When you think of Indy, you think of AJ Boy
You think of Mario and Dready
You think of the legendary racers
That now can be mentioned with Jeff Gordon, Deller and Hard
Like I mentioned earlier
The problem with Indy right now is the culture
Around the city of Indy Napolis has changed quite a bit
And they're having a hard time selling tickets for this event
Really?
This, they're saying that last year's
To put it, last year Jamie McMurray, the winner
Got a check for $438,000
I got that on me
That was his winnings
Charlotte, which is where NASCAR's home office
Received an email from the Indy Napolis Motor Speedway
Friday saying ticket sales were significantly
Significantly lower than last year
Really?
So they're not saying it's
Does NASCAR actually attendance has doubled
And viewership has doubled since last year
But they're saying they think it's the culture of Indy Napolis
I think race fans have kind of
Worn maybe a little tired of the bit and moved on to other things
Or is it, is it that or is it possible that it could be that
The fan based in Indy Napolis has more of a loyalty to Indy cars
That's possible
But they've always done well there before which surprises me that
That they're not doing well ticket prizes
Then it could be price
I never, I could not find a price how much the tickets were
I bet they're not cheap
But now also they've had to bring in a Lucas oil
As you all know the drum
Home of the Indy Napolis Colts
They have now bought part of the Indy Napolis Motor Speedway
So I think it's the speedway in general that could be struggling as well
Not just racing in the state of Indiana in general
Okay
So
But that'll be this coming Sunday
Yes
It's a big one
11 a.m. Central if I'm not
It's very, it's a big station
Did you hear this prayer
I saw a link to something on YouTube this morning
I didn't know if you were just talking about this in general or just something
It's like okay if you all that don't know and y'all that may agree not agree
NASCAR always has a pre race prayer done by a local pastor reverend
Whatever you whatever I'm waiting to get a call
Yes I'll do it
This one Saturday night at a at a
What do we call it now
But what's the nationwide series race got a little weird is he recites
50% of the prayer from Taladega 9
Do you need to see if I can cue this up for you
Yeah
Okay
Listen to this prayer. This is this is a pastor right about checker flag
Get ready to drop Saturday night. I don't see if I'm nation wide series race
This is best prayer ever pastor Joe Nelms NASCAR nation of Joe Nelms
Here we go. All right. Let me cue this up for you
This is from last week or week before last year NASCAR race
This is Joe Pastor Joe Nelms
And finally we take you to Nashville, Tennessee
And the NASCAR nationwide series race where pastor Joe Nelms delivers
The random random anchor VGS. Okay Chicago. We'll have her here
Thank you for some no-go race in view and good year tires and bring performance and power
Wow, totally NASCAR
Lord, I want to thank you for my smoking hot wise
At the crowd goes insane
We like to call them the lilies
Lord, I pray and bless the drivers and use them tonight
May they put on a performance worthy of this great track
In Jesus name, bugging it, bugging it, bugging it
Only in NASCAR
Kid, that's funny
Yeah, but did we do we have to trick up the free race?
You know what? I'm bored
It's got us talking about it
The rest of the world hates us
That could be, that could be correct
I was cool, I was, I would hang out
Till we got the smoking hot life
But when I heard that Sunday morning as I was fixed to go to church
At that point you thought you had to go to church
Finally, finally, somebody did it
I was waiting for somebody to duplicate the bit
And finally, somebody did a free race
Well, it would have been funny years when he said smoking hot wife
If somebody behind him just went
That would have been funny to me
So, and that's ending NASCAR in a little bit of a lighter note
Oh my goodness, you are listening to the Clubhouse with the Robin Cody
We are live on you stream every Tuesday night
8 on the east coast, 5 on the west coast
We are
19 days away
Night June
August, August, August
We don't want to relive the June Dept
August 14th, we'll be back at Fox and Hound
Richston, Texas 75 in Campbell
For one of the big ones, one of the majors, WWE Summer Slams
Want to thank everybody who came out and we packed the house
No, they see it all for a little bit
But we packed it up there on, for
What I think was a major pay-per-view
Great pay-per-view at WWE Money in the Bank
Fox and Hound, 3 bucks, get you in the door
Great food, great drink specials
Join us, I'm going to say this again
I said last week, get there early
Seats fill up very, very, very, very
Especially with this being a major
In this thing, we got some clarification last night
Exactly where we might be going
On this too
So, let's uh
Stay tuned
As we get into a little bit of movie talk
Speaking of people that were at the pay-per-view
Life Sunday
This person that we're about to bring on
Was there, came and joined us
For uh, what was that thing called Money in the Bank
If I can just have half of the memory
A young man who uh
Is a good friend of mine, I've known him for many, many years
Almost as long as I've known you
He's going to give us some good perspective on stuff
But we're going to bring him on the beginning of the segment
So that way I don't forget to unmute his microphone
Joining us live in studio
You know him, you love him
You can't live without him
Brent People, Sergio, welcome
Hello, hello, hello, welcome to the show
Thank you for having me
You're always welcome to be here, sir, because you
Are going to give us some knowledge here in just a little while
But I want to get a couple of headlines first of all
It was announced on Saturday
That the Harry Potter franchise
Has officially topped the
Seven Billion dollar world wide mark
What did we say on this show last week?
Make your money now because the franchise is over
But it's a good run, seven billion
Yeah, I don't have that on me
So congratulations to Warner Brothers
For getting that cash cow
And everything that it entails
What they did, they milked that thing for all it was worth
And you know what, maybe it's my fault
Maybe I'm just close-minded
Never saw one of those movies
I've never seen a movie, I've never read a book
I don't know if it means to me
If it means to me
I don't read, but I saw the movies
I mean, what did you go?
Have you gotten to see this one?
I was in the second one
You have young daughters
Is this something that they're enthralled with?
No, but my wife is
Oh, okay, really?
My wife is, my wife read the books
She wasn't big on the movie
She liked the books
She sees the movies because she liked the books
And because I want to see the movies
And like I said, I don't read real books
But, no, they're good
I mean, I enjoyed them
I've enjoyed them more and more as they go along
Because I mean, they had to be in something
Because people were just lined up outside of the building
And that JK Rowling
Is she a certified billionaire yet?
Because she should have a huge piece of this in my opinion
I hope so
I mean, I'm no Hollywood agent
I'm no, uh, Arley Gold
You know Arles
Oh, Arles, bro
That's sports
That's an agent
Greatness
What am I favorite?
Great show
That's what HBO's very first shows
Oh, no, no, no, no
That's what it's very first in 10
First in 10 was the first thing
When Arles came
Probably in the mid 90s
Arles, greatness
Greatness
Also, found out last night, uh, Chad and I were talking about this
As we were watching
I said, and then what's weird, this blew up during
All Twitter went nuts with this story
Who's gonna play what anchor
And I was like, really?
20th Century Fox will be adapting the book
And this book just came out if I'm not mistaken
Yeah
A book called ESPN, those guys have all the fun
This is a book about the early days of ESPN
My first question is simply, is this not well enough documented?
I mean, how many, I mean, I've watched in my time
At least three different documentaries about the early days of ESPN
But you haven't seen on the big screen
Do I need to sing about it?
I'm available to play Berman if somebody needs to meet me
That's like, I'm very interested in some of you might be
Listening in here in studio
I'm very interested in this Brad Pitt money ball
I'm very interested in that movie
Fear with money ball
But I know how those you that don't know
This is a book about the Oakland Athletics
And their owner, whose name escapes me
Billy Bean, Billy General Manager
Who really tried to go what they call small ball
Yeah
And it worked
And it worked for you
But guess what, I can tell you the movie
At the end, the Yankees still hold up the big trophy
At the end of the movie
You just wait for Eddie Opportunity
You can't know the way I'm saying
But I'm just in my right
Yeah, I mean
Think about money ball
I know how that season ended
But it's a decent book
It's a decent book
This one here, I don't know
We all know that ESPN is a global juggernaut
If you don't get me wrong, I'd like to read the book
Yeah, I would like to read this book
I mean this book literally just came out with like a month ago
So
Um, I just
I don't know, I need to see
Number one, it's got to be casted well
I think
If ESPN is going to put their name on it
You're not going to have a bunch of unknowns
You might
Charlie what's the name, the guy with the fro
I would, Charlie Steiner
I would mind a movie maybe if it got over like
I love to hear Burman and Tom Jackson talk about the early days of NFL prime time
They ran to McDonald's while they were all there
This is going to be a documentary
This is going to be a movie
That's the thing
My thing is
A, where does this book stop?
You know, does it stop just as they're getting all the rights to stuff
Because if you remember the early days of ESPN
They didn't have rights to the NFL or the NBA
They would show like darts in the middle of the air
I think that it stops with them getting Monday night football if I'm not
Oh wow, so this thing goes for a while
This thing goes for a while, it's a pretty thick read
I mean I would like to read the book like I said
Um, I'd like to see
Maybe
They have done a, I'll tell you what's in my ESPN
I've got some
AWA footage for the Steamboat Casino
I've got some of this later in the show
As I will put this network on fire again
But ESPN was great for professional sports
It has ruined college sports
I'll explain that later
In my opinion, the whole that ESPN has on
Has on college athletics is unbelievable
So moving on
Something that's going to lead us to what Brent's going to talk about here in just a moment
As he literally lived this bit over the weekend
Captain America, the first Avenger, opens to $65.8 million
In this particular headline
I will give you the smartest man alive bit
Okay, the other one, no
This one I will give you because you said it would make more money and it's opening weekend
Then Green Lanard, you said that on this very show last week
It made $65.8 million Green Lanard made $52.3 million
Now I got a question, but I'll look at that
Y'all consider X-Men first class a failure
No, not at all
I love that, I love that movie
And let me put this in the proper context for those of us
Those of our people in the audience that don't know who Brent is
Brent is a comic book artist
I'm not even using the word aspiring
The dude's got CRED as we're going to talk about here in just a little while
We are both comic book geeks
I've been as long as we've known each other
Did you see first class?
Yeah, was it not the most awesome thing
I love it
To me, that is the benchmark right now for summer superhero movies
I have heard multiple reports of people saying Captain America has beaten the bar
Now, did you get a chance to see it while you were out there?
No, San Diego kind of took over my time, I didn't understand
Well, I know that they had a big, they had a big screening
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but you had to get win tickets or something
But no, X-Men, they got X-Men first class right
The way they portrayed Magneto was
Well, my whole thing with that movie was
Leave your geek head at the door
Because if you try to look for continuity, your brain will explode
I also like the time frame it was set in
I thought was really cool
Out of every of the 60s and during the cold
Yeah, I love the story
A lot of people had an issue with them trying to tie it into current history
I had no issue with that
My question is
Could this thing, but it did not make as much money as Thor
It lost the Thor by $100,000
Right
I'm just, I'm going to go see it
There's no doubt I will see this movie
Now granted, I still haven't seen Transformership
But that's a different issue
Could this thing possibly be better than
By anybody in this room, could this movie be better than first class
I don't know
I don't know, I mean, I enjoyed Thor though
It was like, I liked Thor
I mean, Thor, I enjoyed Chris Lanner more than I liked Thor
Oh no, I loved Thor
I liked Green Lantern
Green Lantern was, it was cool to see Green Lantern on the screen
And that was about as far as, I mean
I love Ryan Reynolds
Like crazy, but
It's the same thing that DC's been doing
Outside of Christopher Nolan's Batman stuff
DC's not getting it right
DC cannot get a movie right
I think, but they're trying to take too many fringe characters
Now Chad asks it more than Dark Knight
Okay, let me, let me read
Let me reframe this
People are saying this is the set for the bar for Superhero movies this summer
Okay, for 2011 Superhero adaptations
Captain America is now the benchmark
I have to
Give me from what I've seen as far as previews
It looks like they got it right
I've seen the extended, a little extended clip
Looks good
For those of you that are, are, are spoiler-free people
What I'm about to say is not really a spoiler
We all know that every one of these movies has an extra deal at the end
I actually stumbled upon it
I didn't really want to watch it
I'm watching it
Apparently the extra scene is the Avengers trailer
Oh yeah, I've heard about it
It's a teaser, there's not much to it
But they do update the suit
Yes, I do
I saw the suit
Yeah, the Comic Con did have it
And the character posters are now up
So we're losing the
We're losing the cargo pants
Okay, the suit looks more
Looks more like
The current Captain America suit
Cool, there are four or five different posters
That actually link together to form one big scene
Oh, I haven't seen that
Oh, you haven't seen the posters yet?
Let me see if I can pull this up for you
Oh, that's the suit they have
With Captain America is
And the problem with it has been
Just trying to convey the suits so it doesn't look hokey
No, that's the problem that people have
What I'm going to do right now is
I'm going to pull these up on
Entertainment Weekly's website
I'm just going to turn my monitor around so both of you can see these
Well, I've seen the
A boot like version of the Avengers trailer
Well, I'm talking about the actual poster
This is all six of them
Put together side by side
These are not live action shots
These are actually artists rendering shots
But these are the official
Teaser one sheets for the Avenger film
That's coming out next time
That looks good
It looks great
Each poster individually has
Like for Iron Man has little scenes from the other two films
It's well done
I just don't
I can't put this mantle on cap until I see it
That's my problem
And until I see this movie it will be my problem
Well, the wings still painted on the helmet
It's more of a mask
It's more of a mask
It's my worry
That was always my fear
With that was the head piece
Because I was one on this show that said I thought Thor would be harder to do
See, I like Thor
I thought it was entertaining
And again, it is just great
From a comic geek standpoint
When you see when they do what they do with Asgard
And it's very Jack Kirby
And the different ways that the rainbow bridge looked amazing
Yeah, the way that they, because that was my fear of Thor
Like, okay, how are they going to do this
And not make it look dumb
Like Thor is going to come trotting down a rainbow
And they did it right
Well, I like the wings were metal instead of the big white
Yeah, I thought it was well done
Now, we also found out Steven Spielberg put out there
Later in Comic Con
That Jurassic Park 4 will be released within the next three years
I'm going to be personally honest
For PS3
I think the Lost World's last one I saw
You and me both, yeah
And I own Jurassic Park 3 on DVD for years
Never watched it, cause I just didn't really care
It was cool the first time, the second time
The third time then but now we're going to do 4
Because he needs more money
As he prepares for Rintin-10
Now
I had to pause it because we had to get to the right music for the right source here
right-sourced here this past weekend no oh and I say rent and 10k not cop
ricky tiki taffy it's all the same uh Brent was at San Diego Comic Con the Geek
Mecca and remember there's a difference between Geeks and nerds Geeks are
and nerds with social skills I found that out recently so I'm I'm probably a
you were there you were a member of artist Sally and the only person in this
room that has been on television in the last 72 hours and you were a part of
season four it's last time you're last words right
yeah you were there in artist Sally which for those of you that don't know what
artist Sally is basically it's an entire or how big was artist Sally this year
I was kind of limited compared to the space really yeah artist uh it's
probably 12 or 15 tables deep I guess or rose deep I've just all comic
artists right right that were there you're selling commissions you drew a
picture of Sarah Underwood's character Bustis that they had on the
coverage right up your banner was huge on the screen which was great
publicity for you that's cool because we're leading up to something here October
fifth am I right on that yeah yeah yeah market on your calendar I will be in a
wait a minute five and seven is twelve okay yeah that's right I had to do the
math picture that was a Wednesday it is a Wednesday I will be I will be at my
local comic shop on October 5th which I'm sure thrills my wife have to
death however there's a reason tell them sir I've got a new book coming out with
image comics called The Last of the Great's written by Josh Fial call drawing by
me and a bunch of good stuff a bunch of other people who work on the book too so
do you want to talk about the plot of this thing or do you want to kind of hold
off I can talk about it all right the basic the basic rundown is there's one
superhero left on the world and the world's at the brink of apocalypse and the
only so we need his help the only problem is he hates us and he hates us for a
reason it I don't know if you want to go too deep into why yeah but the very
beginning of issue one I'm cool like that so I had some I'm privileged to
certain information certain there's a reason he hates us yeah basically you know
why there's a valid reason for it I mean besides the fact that the humans are
selfish and greedy and and destroy everything we get in the way of there's some
other stuff but yeah he basically can't stand us and things were insects at
that point and I've seen some of the early art that you've done for this thing
it is amazing it looks great I'm intrigued you what do we have right now it's an
eight issue run so far oh it's gonna be an ongoing series oh so now it's on
going yeah so long as long as it sells good bye so go to your local shop and
order it tell them to order it but yeah as long as it sells it's gonna be an
ongoing and and we're I'm halfway through issue number three and I just got the
plot line for issue number four and that's gonna be you he says he shakes his
head I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing so do you ride you draw
at home yeah you have your studio there yeah my ambercrabby PJs cool yeah
is that is that live in the dreams that is live in the dream it's a work from
home got the kids there making drawings and I don't know how much of his
his work you've actually seen Cody I think I've seen what you've shown me
does he does great work I mean and it the reason that we that we are
leading up to this next point was you talk about San Diego Comic Con really
being becoming it's become so much more than comics which on a certain level
kind of hurts me oh yeah wrestling move I mean yeah the corporations have
taken over but I've never been Brent now has been I want to know about Comic Con
from the through the eyes of someone who was there 125,000 people went through
those doors over four days and it was fast and it was furious and celebrity
filled from your eyes what did you see you see everything did you get a
lot of time as an artist to really peruse the floor or where you can find on
Sunwell but you know I need to be at my table as much as possible I but also I
had to go meet some people and talk to people and things like that that's
part of it is a professional is trying to to see the people in the business that
you need to talk to but I mean I got to walk the floors of course in the
mornings too before the show open I get to walk the floor it's funny because
they they've got these these little audio bits that run that say there's no
running in the hall there's no running in the exhibit hall as soon as the doors
open you got it running through it's it's like it's like it's like look
taking all the people out of your favorite stadium football stadium and
watching them walk towards you all at one time oh geez except the only
difference is they're dressed up in costume and that was going to be my
next question cosplay always has fascinated me because I'm the kind of guy
it's not October 31st I'm not putting on a costume right but I I think it's
kind of cool to watch it my question is what percentage of costumes did you see
that you win versus percentage of costumes that you win really there's a lot
that you see over and over right so you see you always see Princess Leia the
slave layer is a big you see you see you see slave layer you see slightly healthy
slave layer you know one that I really saw there was really cool was a weapon
X which if you don't know that's Wolverine before he was Wolverine that's most
of what X-Men wargins Wolverine deals with yeah but like but it's this weapon
X way he's got this helmet and these all these the the tubes and stuff coming
out of them and really it was pretty rad like yeah it was
how many Captain American do you see about a hundred million only like a couple
Captain America huh always the most probably that was a hot movie maybe there
have been a lot of the thing about Comic Con though it's not always people in
costume for what the big thing that years gonna be and I think that's the
kind of the cool part about it is it's not what's hot that's why the chat room
gonna go as the brown horn and in that's a person or not but what I mean it's all
a lot of Doctor who a lot of Doctor who was a Doctor who's pretty big again
slave layer stuff you say that a lot you saw a lot of X-Men characters you're
you know rogue your garden variety yeah I mean is I mean anime too lot a lot of
manga and anime characters with the oversized sores that are taller than them
and you know then you just see a lot of things that you don't clue what they are
but okay just to wrap up this segment I'm gonna ask one simple question if you
were to not not as a participant as a fan now that you've been would you go
again as a participant probably not really for me and this is every reason why
there's so much media if if you are into media and you want to go see all the
panels in the movies because if you want to go sit on a Kevin Smith panel
bam bam Rob sure we'll just rub it in and we'll talk about that here then you've
got to stand in line for four hours that day but they were staying for the
Torchwood panel people were lining up at 3 a.m. in the morning 3 a.m. and
and I am waiting all day I don't know the Cody would wake up for anything for
so I wouldn't never mind but I didn't say to start your day but there's a lot of
cool stuff to see so if you're into all the media and everything plus your
comics that's a good spot to go if you're just into just comics I think they're
better conventions for that I just think for me I don't know if I'm as much of a
panel guy because I've got better I went to celebration two in Indianapolis
and we talked about a little while ago for Star Wars and it turned into hey
what what line is this yeah yeah and that kind of took away from the experience
from me I prefer to be on the show for but there are certain things I had to
see like trilogy in 30 minutes right I mean it's just it's one of those shows
that if you're gonna go to the bathroom then you should probably plan an hour
ahead of time to go to the bathroom because it's gonna take you that long to get
there wow I mean it's just I mean that long to get there plus the line it's a
bathroom no the dude's bathroom didn't have a line but it took you a while to get
to it but you know it's I mean there are things that you're gonna see a
comic-con that you're not gonna see it at other shows right there are things I
mean there's like the the Marvel booth had the big Avengers layout with you
hear about that with all the you know lighted screens and that was really rad
and you're not gonna see that anywhere so
video comic-con anything Cody I watch some of the coverage on it's pretty big
deal I'd like to go for two reasons one it's comic-con two it's San Diego
yes and I've always San Diego is one of those cities always one county that's
your West Coast feet it's out there on my list and WJXFN right now San Diego
Brandon asked a question is this show you as a guest no it is coming up as
you're you're using yes sir one quick question for you what does it take
explain it you said image comics right that's the third that's it's Marvel
DC image I mean okay images if you don't know image comics is not you have
Marvel DC right everybody knows Marvel DC back in the 90s image comics was
started by the yeah spawn Wildcatch down blood everybody knows spawn mostly
yeah okay the Marvel or image comics was started by the top names in the
industry at that time for a place where creators could go and own their
properties so when you work from our DC you're drawing and God love them
they're great companies but you're drawing Stanley's great drawing Stanley's
creations yeah at image comics that's where creators can go and take their
ideas and have a reputable company publish them and still own the rights to
your properties cool so that's what dark horse was one or star course is still
around top cow wild storm was top cow wins the the comic-con party by the way
as far as once I've oh really oh yeah but they they're good stuff you know
images a great company's been around for a long time very reputable to take
care of their creators that they they publish
chavins a great one they're kind of like the Pixar of comics yeah yeah a great
point to make like that and yes I did get a text message on Saturday while I was
in church of Brent with Jason Muse and Jason Muse notice he didn't have a
iPhone case as we gave him his and I'm sure that the first thing he said was
I've got a great friend who's a huge fan I did actually I know yeah I was just
like so where's Kevin is that always doing panels yeah I've got Kevin's very
busy at does it out speaking which is getting a movie new releases the big one
this week yeah cowboys and aliens you're talking Olivia wild you're talking
Harrison Ford you're talking Daniel Craig directed by John Favreau here's what
concerns me 60% on rotten tomatoes right now looks cool looks really cool I
just it's hard for me and I have this problem with a lot of stuff it's hard for
me to to take James Bond as a cowboy let's be honest with you he just want
to get her I just I don't know Daniel Craig to me is in in burned in my brain of
being 007 and it's gonna I think that's what might keep a lot of fans away
also and that that deal words Olivia wild greatness oh yeah I don't here's my
thing I've said it on this show and Brent I kind of want your opinion on this when
you see the trailer I'm with it up until they have my baby they have my son and
I'm like can't we just cowboys aliens fight can we just do that but hey it's
something different it is something different I mean I'd like to see it I don't
know if I'll I think I would see cap before I would see this but remember
John Favreau's doing this movie so it is Favreau and he can't do much wrong
and I don't know is a beast bit a fan of his since since swingers yeah pretty much
so also a theaters this week not not being screened for critics probably for a
reason as the smurfs hit I don't even think Katie Perry's voice could save this
movie unfortunately I will see it because I have children you have children
there's once again it's like kids just say hey kids let's say home and watch what
smurfs really are and just show them the DVDs of the animated series and be done
and it's something that why once again we asked to set why is this movie being
made I agree sir what did I mean also this week okay I'm sorry just because I
know that they got kids and I have to take their kids that's absolutely also
this week crazy stupid love this is I'm in on this the Emma Stone greatness then
you've got Steve Correll a bunch of people in this movie I'd like to see it I'm
this a screening of it last week I'll be attending a screen tomorrow night of
the changeup of the new Jason Bateman and Ryan we can't do any wrong right now
either exactly also this week attack the block have you heard about this
thing it's an alien invasion movie but when the aliens invade it's a bunch of
kids from the wrong side of the tracks that end up being the resistance it's
it's a British film looks kind of funny I mean it's kind of funny I saw a poster
for that and and real big if you glance at it because you've got your
wrong side of the track crew on the posters it looks like it says attack the
black we do a double tape we do a bigger version of that letter of
place 91% on Rotten Tomatoes for this film crazy stupid love at 81% and then
this movie that I saw the trailer for courtesy of our friend David
Rosasina the devil's double this is the story of a guy who gets chosen to be
Ude who say's body double and has to go through the surgery and everything
else because you remember how I said I'm have like nine different sedoms this is
the story of one of them that do with his son and the ups and downs it looks
interesting to me I'm sorry again something different and kind of actually
based DVD and blue right new releases this week just three that I could tell
you've got source code this was the Jake Gyllenhaal blah blah blah you have eight
minutes to save the world but you're gonna keep doing it over and over and over
again 91% on Rotten Tomatoes so there's something to it also Dylan Dog
dead of night this is Brandon Ruth he was Superman and now he's a
investigator of zombie stuff 3% 3% on Rotten Tomatoes this will not be
franchised I'm pretty sure also this last one you know anything about this
last one coming yeah the lieutenant well the lieutenant Dan ban is in that with
his Gary Sinese Gary Sinese band they were they saying it estimate the
armed forces bowl did they really you played in this year out there at Gerald
forced stadium there and they're in the HP so this was a documentary that was
done on some of their performances I may check this out especially if it's on
the instant cue Brent you got anything on that no okay not a problem
Gary Sinese singing in a band he still was off to me it's and it's kind of
bluesy I mean he does play like help play on CSI New York kind of like Steven
Seagull bluesy there are some lists that never need to be rehab that one
might need to be I want you to go pull the audio of that list oh I can't
roll it we'll roll it next week let's get into a little bit of TV news just a
little bit this is a big shocker big big surprise this first this first point
they said coming those two kids we thought maybe that she was that maybe that
tattooing had gotten to her brain or maybe she's gotten getting her head right
with ball Kat Von D breaks off her engagement to Jesse James they are citing the
distance between them as he's trying to hang out with his kids in Austin and
she's got her shop out there in L.A. doing the reality show well apparently this
will be addressed on her show in one way or another also this next one as we go to
Cody section of the country a little bit farther north yeah I've never watched
Antiques Roadshow but I saw this story today and it kind of intrigued me
Antiques Roadshow somebody brings them as they're in Tulsa, Oklahoma brings them
these four Asian cups and says what are these worth they bring a guy to
embrace it finds out they're worth between one and 1.5 million dollars that's
not the sad thing about this story what's sad about it is is she bought those if
the Southern Baptist a garage sale to raise money to take the kids to youth
camp she spent five dollars on them so that's the sad thing about it is it about
Oklahoma yeah yeah now is that a real or is that a bit that's a bit okay I was
gonna say sorry Tulsa what's Tulsa backwards hey hey Kelly that was Cody so you
know but this will be this is what was really the weird thing to me was this
next bullet point that this episode will air on their 16th season this show has
been on air 16 years on PBS I didn't think it'd been that long I guess
what is that on now history channel no PBS because now it's American pickers
it's that's kind of taken and that what that's called they go and they drive and
they I think American pickers I'm thinking bandages no something about these
guys that get money and drive around to these old barns old places and buy
things and like auction hundred yeah exactly storage wars now if you don't
pay your storage bill to put a lock on it they're auctioning those off now
there's like four different shows that do that now you have auction hunters on
on spike and there's like two more that I know that I've seen I'm like isn't
this the same show different that work whatever but that's gonna do it for TV
news Brent stick around for the rest of the show there's gonna be other stuff I'm
sure you'll be interested in you are listening to the clubhouse with Robin Cody
live on you stream we're every Tuesday night every Tuesday that 55 week
straight eight o'clock on the east coast five o'clock on the west coast if you
miss any part of the show you can catch it on the archive yes well almost a
hundred of you checked out our money in the bank preview show we want to thank
you for that you can follow us on Twitter I am yes that robber of an E R V I M
I am Cody VS Hawking don't forget we'll be live August 14th hold on there's
somebody else in the studio oh they want to follow you on Twitter where do they
go sir it's at people's art P E E P L E S A R T
got it got it got it got to give the guys alive so Fox and
Hound August 14th will be their live for W W B summer slam it's a big one and
we talk about this a lot Brent's in the studio Brent was at money in the
brain Brent what did you think about the whole deal out there at Fox and Hound
are interested it was fun it's not a blast out there yeah I mean yeah it was
good and the food's good and foods good drinks good wrestling good yeah great
service yeah join us please three bucks get you in the door they got great
foods the table or the room or in has pull table star boards kind of a
private thing you can also watch summer slam or you might have a difference
board table a lot of different screens go something else will be going on
that night so I'm just saying I will talk about here in a little while so let's
talk a little NBA well as sports fans we all got a little good news on
Monday on Tuesday on Monday as for the NBA the NFL lockout ends but if you're an
NBA fan let me tell you something Jack this thing is I think they cancel a
season so you're going the opposite way of me with the NFL you can't
see an NFL season in the AFC title game you cancel this right I'm not afraid of
it is this mean I have to say don't play yes they'll yeah well you can't you
don't have to I know there'll be a big truck full of Dallas Cowboys in San
Antonio tomorrow but they are going to say Antonio San Antonio back on we'll
talk about that later but the NBA has already shilled their rookie transition
program so they're already canceling stuff that six months down the road so
the NBA didn't mean the NFL did not cancel the rookie symposium until a week
or two and then they kind of still had one the NBA's already canceling stuff
this thing they're nine billion dollars apart and what's bad is the NFL was
nine billion dollars apart in revenue the NBA's nine billion dollars apart in
contracts so the NFL is like what do we do with this nine billion dollars of
profit the NBA is what do we do with these nine billion dollars in contracts
that's the that's why we're so far apart the owners want to the owners want a
twenty seven to thirty five percent pay cut with car the players they're
wanting to track teams I'm telling you where to start Toronto by New Orleans
either give them their own identity or or water them down but Kevin love has a
weird take on this the the wolves power forward he's saying he's gonna take his
talents to sand beach volleyball is how he might spend his the million dollar
industry that is sand beach volleyball and you don't turn ankles or anything
doing volleyball so I just think it's going to be a lot of guys that are
preparing to to find another way income somehow because this thing is going to
ugly the Kobe the turkey thing is creeped up again apparently his people his
people have now contacted them not the other way around so this there's a I
wouldn't say this increases the chances of that happening I I still think Kobe
stupid enough to want a million dollars a month and I don't think that that
turkey's gonna pay him a million dollars a month a million dollars a month
that's what you got to be a hell of a man with a set to go and say go you know what
bro you go pay me a billion dollars a month well they offered him half a
million he said millions sounds a little bit better you know hey image
comics you're gonna give me a million dollars a month what would you do with that
budget yeah I said the only he could say he gets a million dollars a month we
may never see him again but the runway said I'd be in Palm Springs with my new
friends yeah but the NBA they're they're business models bad that's part of
the NBA and do you we're in we're basketball fans we are are you a basketball
fan so so so so what the casual fan as yourself if the NBA wouldn't play
would you care see the NFL was a big deal the problem that the NBA has is you
play half of your season during the NFL yeah at least baseball has the
advantage of we're wrapping things up we've got storylines forming that are
gonna set up for playoff runs and things of that nature but the problem of the
NBA has is they're just getting started as as Pacino would say but here's my
question to you on this next bullet point I wanted to be vague because I wanted
to get your off the cuff opinion let's say you've got 10 or 15 marquee guys
that are playing in other countries we talked last week about Dwight Howard
maybe going to Asia and making up a million dollars he'd be big over he would be
he'd make some he'd make some scratch in Asia for sure does the NBA TV get
stonzy and try to air those games or this ESPN just right get throw a bunch of
money at turkey and go we're showing your game the thing about it is like we
figured out the Olympics it's hard it they're all gonna be taped to late no
absolutely gonna be live if they do the world cup same thing exactly so I guess
I just I just I don't think NBA TV does it because I think them they're forced
to take a side you know what's so great about NFL network and I'll even go
MLB network and I'll even go NHL network they're very fun network and their
actual networks this NBA TV is a Joe oh it is it's a crawler the only thing I
like about NBA TV is if I need stats from other games when there's no games
exactly NBA TV is a joke remember that was a paid channel free horrible they
need to probably take that down and but do you think ESPN shows these games I
don't think anybody'll touch it because ESPN would fear losing their NBA
contract that they work their tail off to finally get that away from it they
worked their butts off to get that contract away from NBC so I I think they
would keep things intact now NBC doesn't carry the NBA anymore do they no they
lost it all together ABC does your finals and then ESPN does some regular
season stuff and then ABC won't because they're tied to ESPN if you're NBC what
do you have to lose nothing why not gives us it's cost us something yeah I like
about cost is so Lebron apparently offered 80 million to play a summer league
overseas I think Lebron is go trial for the for the dolphins
stop it yes slot you know you've already relegated Vince Young to my dolphin
stop it I got more on that too but I'd like to see like they Vince I can see
Lebron line up next to Marshall in the slide on third down the dude's like eight
foot I got you stored in the air Haney and G's stop it stop it stop it you
are listening to the clubhouse with Robin Cody always good times there always
good times you sound like you're feeling a little bit better the blood starting to
flow yeah we are also joined by Brent Peoples comic book artist extraordinaire
sure who always should remember as seen on G4 as seen on G4 never said a word
but he was seen on G4 never said a word he never did he just showed the picture
just hey here's my picture I drew and she went hey I like the picture because it
was a verb ah Sarah under what has a character called bustus and he drew a
picture of bustus and it was the is it the just remember who made you go to
Chicago two years ago there's all New York sir was it New York who's New York
okay we're getting old it's hard for you my countdown hey he didn't want to go
and I made him go and he got all those contacts and the look where he is now
that's where I met Jeff that's right so when you get that Eisner award I'm just
saying just let a brother know all right let's move on do a little bit of
music because there's the story everybody wants us to talk about
oh I don't have any of her music I only have the one song on karaoke I thought I
had that whole elbow cue up the Lisa back I can't listen to this okay cue up
something all right but yes you are listening to Clubhouse with Robin Cody okay
you can pick it up a little bit there Saturday we found out about the
celebrity death of one Amy Winehouse tragic life tragic life so talented so
different you know I thought she was very talented she was one that could could I
say could I throw the name Scott Hall at you yeah could never defeat her
demons I'm gonna say Joplin I want to go that way with it and I think that's
how I think that's how she's going to be I think that's gonna how how she's
mourned is I think she will be bigger and death would you agree with that well
they said that her her album sales went through the roof over the weekend yeah well
here's the thing is it was it that big a news because I know I was at in the
San Diego pocket all weekend but I never saw anything on Twitter or Facebook
about it really because that's where I found out was on Facebook somebody put it
out I had it I was somebody said has she died and I went verified it from CNN so
and that brings up an excellent question was there was there any mention of it while
you were there because she said you were in the San Diego pocket and he's not lying
once you're in I've been to cons I've worked cons when you're inside that hall
there is no outside world so was there people coming and talking about it but
no but even at you know at the end of the day when I'm having my late night cigarette
before I go to bed and I'm flipping through all my tweets that I missed all day
yeah I guess I could have missed it but I didn't see anything on Facebook or anything on
on Twitter at all well we all if you if you we people saw this coming a mile down the road oh you
knew it was gonna happen yeah she had been on a bad road for twenty seven years old but great
great talent great talents what she she sounded different and that thing that's one thing
the music and some good music yeah but she cut on I don't she's a type of person I don't know
if she could handle success I think she was one of those people I think she had this problem
fun before she had success now when you see her with her first album Frank she was a full-figured
girl she was a bag of bones within months within within months with back with the release of back
in black within months she was a bag of that's not saying yeah that within months because I saw
her on Letterman when the album first dropped and you're absolutely right she had more of a full
figure yeah braidence that she was worth thirty million dollars that's what they're saying
also I am told and I have not read this and I feel like I'm slacking in this department for
not having read this apparently Russell brand put out a I got you could call it a blog entry
of some form there's a link to it on Roger Ebert's Facebook page that apparently says he's
making Arthur to no no no no that he has what he said about her about her life and her death
Chad said it was one of those poignant things he's ever read so I'm going to go check that out
because this is a guy that's been through it Russell brand makes no no bones about the fact that
he's been through it's some of the things she's been through walk away for him he came out on the
other side of this thing but let's go on to something a little bit more positive if we can
uh gene Simmons finally after 28 years of being together with Shannon Tweed pops the question
and oddly enough they're gonna air that on his family jewels reality really apparently she's
saying now this happened months ago and it's just now coming to light gene he'll find hey
he's a marketing genius he's involved he'll he'll find a way to make some money off of it I
promise you that because that's just how he is he will for sure I said he's a marketing genius if
it's something involving him or his family or his brand he will make money hand over fist
but at this point don't you think it's a little pointless it's been 28 years do you really
got to aren't you coming along with that point do they have that in California I don't know
I don't know in Texas six months to give them yet I'm all for marriage and I understand you know
you are currently married I hope you are sir and uh you know it was one thing after two or three
years say well it's time to pop the question after 28 years but again gene Simmons marketing genius
gotta think we're talking about it yeah yeah maybe you know I mean granted we're not the
we're not the worldwide leader in anything except being in this room every week
but you know we're talking about it and there's people in the media talking about it so
music new releases this week the lady you're currently listening to
Kelly Rowland releases her latest album here I am today I'm telling you I really think she's
that one hit away from from really breaking out of the the Destiny's child shadow because I think
she's got talent yeah she's good I think she's harder to Beyonce personally man who did that
Beyonce is overrated no sir overrated and I and I'm the one that I told on this show that I
overrated girls and I see she's overrated so that should be double overrated also brand new album
from the Wu Tang clan how many of these guys are left I mean I love the fact that I was watching
a I love the 90s deal and Stewart Scott said I'm not sure but I think I was in Wu Tang for like
a day and a half but their new album legendary weapons drops today also this one
I put on here for you I don't know what you know about these next two artists brand and writer
releases live at Billy Bob's Texas country I defer to you never heard of it there's a CD and
a CD DVD combo there's never heard of today so there's that also Eric church heard of it church
he's decent tell me tell me about Eric church there um not a new guy probably this is probably his
fourth or fifth offering it's he's okay is he is he one of these guys that doesn't need to be labeled
country or is he no he's got something stuff he is if I could comparing to an artist he's kind of
got that dorks Bentley trace afkins type deal going where okay okay I wouldn't say outlaw
don't go that when I go wailing with it but you know he's kind of in between he's not I can
listen to him and that's a lot in new country music for me to say I can listen to somebody I can
tell read him in doses we do have our live chat room where people are giving us instant feedback
when you're on live Brandon asks a very interesting question better vocalist Adele or Beyonce hands
down Adele by a country mile her latest album 21 is amazing if you don't have it go after the show
finish listening to show and then go to wherever you go to buy CDs or download it from iTunes or
whatever great album that's all I've got for music news this week unless any of you gentlemen have
anything you want to bring up no all right we continue on in the clubhouse with Robin Cody hey let's
just like we have a couple of slogans for a show one if you listen you know I'm sick and tired
of people coming up to me and saying hey Rob what do you think about this and I have to say if
you listen to the clubhouse with Robin Cody you know what I thought about that tell everybody you know
we want to grow this audience because that's what we do also hey let's are there slogan Cody
listen you know no it's the other one oh yeah better than has to better it's better than has to be
you know I'm not making a dime off this thing so nor am I so it's better than has to be
make sure you three dudes sitting around just spend the cigarettes drinking and talking right
smoking cigarettes watching Captain Kangaroo yeah okay do visit our website www.theclubhousewithRobinCody.com
where you can get to our merchandise store get you some swag we need you out there helping us
advertise this show I make the buy a new shirt I think I've worn my t-shirt out we are also
joined once again by Brent Peoples superstar image comics artist you will see his name on the
front of a comic book very well actually you've already seen his name on the front of comic books
yeah for a company can we can we mention the other stuff yeah okay feel free yeah Zennesco tell
the people I don't know I don't think Cody's seen any of this stuff tell him about something
you've done with them I worked for Zennesco what two years so grim fairy tales adventures
are so bad things like that before the before the image deal and some of that's traded it
trade paperback yeah yeah yeah they trade they trade all their stuff so they've got a smaller
following I mean they're not you know they're smaller publishing but they and cool stuff too
like good storylines it's fantasy stuff right you know it's and bad was kind of a typical
symbiotic interest story grim fairy tales very fantasy oriented huh already published but now he's
big-market big-time as we like to say on the show let's get into a little bit of MMA news not a
whole bunch this week but a little bit
yeah
where you laughing at some the sin bad and uh the unfunniest people hey I like sin bad
that's what I was like we'll be with the segment with this song every week when did I miss
by the way nickel back in the studio recording you out finally very happy about that
strike force coming on H on I'm sorry on showtime this coming Saturday night my DVR is set as we are
kind of seeing what's going on there we are also preparing for UFC 133 is that what we're doing
next Saturday night August the six you can watch that at Foxin Hound they do carry those as well as
a five dollar cover for that uh barring any major things getting in my way I will be in attendance
this is going to be a huge huge card your main event you have seen 133 Rashad Evans versus Tito or
T's already age in a cage so he's already fighting again yeah he just fought bellfort fights uh
akiyama Dennis Halman versus Brian ever saw we'll go over more of this next week yes you do have
two prelims on spike you're gonna have four prelims on Facebook this seems to be
a big deal for them now doing some of these prelims on Facebook you know it they have gotten
themselves in a situation where everything Dana touches works we said that on this show it just
works and that's just kind of weird that that not only that his company but that industry in that
fine that genre of fans and that sports ad that anything they do our touch our promote goes to
the top they're just that that's what realm they're in right now so if it if they're doing it
worked and this is remember kids we are now back to an hour earlier to start these things it is
nine o'clock eastern six specific instead of ten o'clock eastern which kind of throws me off
because I got church till seven thirty so I get to watch the prelims but we're gonna see I
plan on watching this next Saturday I'm looking forward to it then you send me this story later on
today as I'm reading it we've talked about women's sports on this show we've touched on women's
fights in MMA Brent you'd much like myself have uh whether by choice or not been watched some MMA
events in certain establishments right women's MMA do anything for you no I kind of like it well
you've been if you're in the corn rows and no and women that don't speak English yeah
but yet a car on a local girl but you have seen they hadn't done one on their major card in a
while well they have they don't even have a web division most of your women's division comes
from strike or from strike force or K one or things like that there was a poll that was people
were pulled asked about women's fights 56% of people in a poll state that women on the card
makes no difference to them what's so whether whether they're going to buy it or not a 32%
would be less interested to buy a pay-per-view if a women's bout is featured now I thought the
wording here was very interesting because they're saying featured does that mean top three does
that mean anywhere on the card anywhere on the cards what I would think I mean it's kind of weird
for me 12% said they would be more likely really now Dana has Dana ever said one way or another
how he I'm actually yeah I and somebody in the chat room or something lighten me know me a little
more not do about it but I've never heard it even brought up or mentioned I'm sure it has his
his response might have been real non-informative so they said since his company pretty much runs the
MMA world now with the acquisition of strike force I don't know but that's just me we'll talk more
about UFC 133 next week on this show because we'll be in the same week I don't want to just
talk about the whole thing now because then we get nothing to talk about next yes who I need to
give quick breath you ready for this next segment yeah we have kind of changed things up here on
this show just the wee bit we take it all three of our wrestling segments we've kind of combined
them into more of a discussion thing we're going to talk about this guy right now on this my past
little daughter Cody thank you something that you said to me in an email today hooking on a face turn
he's kind of ruined the uh he's he's telling everybody in any media outlet that will listen
that they read in yellow looking looking to return does he think that's going to equal ratings
I don't know man that I think that's just kind of where he's at right now there is an analogy
anything to keep him relevant I think there was an analogy that I liked to use and we've heard
this on this show I've said this in my life outside of this show which really isn't much but
it's alive you put a dress on a pig it's still a pig I mean hooking putting the the red and yellow
back on at this point in the year of our Lord 2011 means absolutely nothing exactly I mean I'm
watching a Nitro from 1997 right now and Diamond Dallas pages in the ring talking to Gino growing
that's got more relevance to me than hooking putting back on the the red and yellow then I mean if
you were born after 1985 87 you don't know the right yeah right that's true a little bit because he
did it a little bit towards the end of his run in WCW but but as far as cultural relevance you're
absolutely right if you're not a 30 something guy like myself right I mean I remember when I was a
kid but that's yeah hooking in the red and yellow to me you're right I mean it doesn't I don't
know it just doesn't fit what they're trying to do over there so but I mean are we officially
grasping in straws now yes is hooking going to come out dressed as Batman because Stings found the
Joker by the way some of me forgot to talk about last week Balford Worry has been announced for
Chicago I thought I was feeling I'm feeling you're right Chicago is to you so a feeling to say geez
they already you know it's going to be in Philly and by the way also speaking of which hardcore
justice does return a week from Sunday we are trying to do the extreme rules bit I don't think
they're trying to bring back those guys again but it's going to be hardcore justice of what they're
calling it but you're absolutely right that they are trying to do the extreme rules because that
works so well prevent so what do we got with Flair in San Diego Flair was telling people
that an autograph signing I don't believe did you see was he floating around Comic Con at all
Brad he was in San Diego I don't think he was part of Comic Con telling people
just so y'all know I get the winner of Sting Angle for the TNA heavyweight title after hardcore
justice that's what Rick Flair let me bring us down and say it again so the people in the
chief seats can hear me 97-year-old Rick Flair is telling people that will listen to him that he
basically is the number one contender for the TNA heavyweight champion impact wrestling whatever
the crap you want to call it the day after hardcore justice he's number one contender
but you know what it would do nothing you never know Dixie may throw him a bone just to come
just to have her name on their belt on his resume I mean just keep that in mind as well but in 2011
does that mean anything I don't I just you know just keep that in mind I think that make me the
number two contender because I can probably go as much as Flair can right now don't put it past
them just to fill that belt on him's all I'm saying I mean I don't know who I'm more worried
about carrying that belt Flair or Hogan Hogan because Hogan I get it and uh Hogan will get it
and not let anybody else have that's about point it's the thing that I thought about on 13 and
as I was sitting through impact I wasn't really watching I was seeing through it have you
noticed you've never seen Ann Arquia and Chavo Guerrero in the same place at the same time I have
noticed I'm just saying yeah just something I'm gonna throw it out there because when he started talking
I was like Chavo okay that's weird you also do have new knockouts tag champs as Miss test marker
and Tara defeat Rosita and Serena in a very weird did you watch any of this this match was such a mess
like I would watch a hundred scene matches in a row before I would watch this match one more time
that's how much of a mess this match was like you couldn't keep track of any yeah that division to
me plus you got to test test markers very very very very very green so but it wasn't necessarily
hurry it was just like people were just all over the ring I was just I couldn't tell granted
its suspension of disbelief and I couldn't tell who was legal was this a tornado deal no it was
just a tag title match it was very very odd oh hi dad then we had on Smackdown Friday night
you talk about Kane now being out three to six months that's what they're saying he is now there
was a rumor that he was injured with the spot with Randy did you see that spot on the table Randy
Randy ends up putting his foot through the hole where the monitor sits and I went oh that's
not good and Randy just kind of got up from it and limped around and laughed and shook his
finger hakeema logic on style and and it was just a very odd moment was he are we saying he
really did yeah so Kane's out Glen Jacobs you know god love the guy he was a dentist he yeah and
that bit with Kane once to me the Kane character should have been kind of repackaged in a way
once they took off the mask I think everything everything with him changed you almost had to though
and it's been it's been part of my problem with Sin Cara the problem with Kane was you can't cut a
promo from you you could try you could do the okay but he did for a while but you can't part of
this business is being able to work a mic and when you wear a mask that prohibits the use of your
mouth you can't work a microphone but don't you think there's some personalities that shouldn't
work a mic Randy ordained for example this is a brand brand the knowledge I mean and you're
absolutely right no I'm not a wrestling fan but you're making a valid point that's why I'm
like brand bringing the knowledge like you you watched it with us yeah so you have enough of a
rudimentary knowledge to know what's going on I think it's great I can hear Randy is you know I
can see Randy and go okay that dude to me seems like a bad day but as soon as he picks up a mic
he's just sounds like a d-bag yeah I mean no I understand it's wrestling but but I'm saying I don't
want to hear his voice like to me all of a sudden he seems sissy I don't know that it makes Randy
seem as sissy when he opens his mouth it just to me Randy just there's no feeling that he's not
shooting yeah every every word is scripted yeah every word he says and you don't get that feeling
that he's just saying something off the cuff and I think that's the problem that Randy has now you
talk about a guy that sounds like a sissy you talk about guy like Evan Moore the minute he opened
his mouth it was I'm excited to be here on broad I was like what it was like the first time you
heard Tyson talk you know whoa whoa that came what what but no but now you're you're smack down
roster even a little less less uh less deep less deep with the departure of Kane killed his
friends separation so then we go in the last night we were both wrong we both thought triple H
would kick off the show he did not we got a pseudo wwe title match kicked off the show uh you
texted me and said is that a replica belt that they bought at the concession did they just go
to to shop zone and it was terrible and are we going to get a new belt I mean are we going to
do that here's my thing here's my thing and I you know I'm going to save it because that's the
end of the segment yeah I didn't want to say something about smack down though Ezekiel Jackson has
the same leader kind of title just saying uh but triple H I texted you in the middle of his
deal and said and again triple H has to come in and save the show in the response just wait
because I had seen it I had seen the end product of what the show was but you know what and but
at that point in the show it was just why did I care that you're gonna put your belt on
Ray Mysterio and you know what and maybe it's just bad timing or whatever
miss is working and I don't know why we have now made miss the job all of a sudden but
miss once again carried a match with Ray Mysterio that was better than it had to be there I mean
I agree it took all the bumps but the problem with that match a lot and I do mean a lot of missed spot
by Ray well there was one point where miss was going to roll out he was he was rolling out of
something and he'd forgotten that the spot that Ray was about to throw on him and he rolled back
it was just it was there were some very very bad spots in that match and then
you know your your text to me was watch them find a way to put that thing on scene and I'm like
I can't I can't I'm I might I don't know I might take hostages if that happens yeah I kind of
had a feeling thinking to myself there's no way in the world that Ray Mysterio that Ray Mysterio
leaves that arena with that belt there was just something about it didn't it didn't feel right
something about him it just it was weird I didn't care about the entire roster backstage watching
on a TV that and Vince couldn't get them a better TV to watch on them like a 19 inch
trinitron from 1994 yeah it was weird wasn't it we couldn't get them a little flat screen
help him out John Cena can't just you know pull a couple hundreds out of his wallet and rent one
but but didn't take that back as I thought the Cena and how pretty much how this ends
well let's let's get there yeah we're not there yet because I musically I'm not there yet
but you know triple H comes out says it's a brand new brand new era says he's got a return tonight
and to me there was only one guy this could have been first we find out J.R.'s back which
thank you and it looks like it's going to be full time I'm on board so I guess if they're
wanting to fly J.R. from from Norman Oak LaHoma to wherever he wants to go I mean that's up to
them so I don't know and this other one we had to see coming it was time for Morrison and I
thought he looked great he looked great I just don't know how far a feud with him and our truth
can go I just don't know you want to put the belt on the guy just to piss everybody off I would
love to have seen him win that belt it just to go Vince you you did you nobody saw this coming
but then you made up for it with the other stuff J.R. coming back is it's great as long as his
health can stay up and as long as we're not we're not putting J.R. in storylines you know what I mean
yeah and I'm okay with that and I think you have to relegate Michael Cole back to Smackdown
he was on Sean's hunting show last week and absolutely really that show for me
Cole is what he is put him on Smackdown so but trip great in the suit as usual always you know comes
out does his spiel you know gives gives love to Vince and blah blah blah blah and then he says oh
you're going to actually have another title match tonight is right mysterious going to take on
John Cena and I was like are you kidding me stop this now and I knew that's when I thought
Cena is going to Cena is going to win the belt back tonight and a horrible match terrible man
um Cena Cena took some bumps and I will say that I don't care for
John Cena Cena doesn't no sell people but he's still only got six minutes yeah but I thought
Cena a ton of false finishes he sold the knee really well oh the whole game trying to reverse yeah
I'll I did he he sold the knee let's be honest Ray weighs about 25 pounds so can what him putting
a lot of pressure on Cena's knees when he when he put the STF on Cena he didn't have the hook the
leg hooked well he didn't have the way oh he didn't know he didn't have the leg because that's
what sold the knee yeah but could he have he could his arm have been farther away from Cena's neck
it was like a hula hoop around Cena's neck I was like come on dude either back the camera up
or sell the thing right exactly so then here we go again Cena gets the attitude adjustment
we get the one two three Cena's music and again back to polarizing arenas yes there were the
let's go Cena Cena sucks opposite chance which you know you get that with him like I said nobody
I've never seen a guy that can polarize split an arena exactly down the middle like John Cena does
it's just it's what it's become and so he's standing there celebrating in the middle of the
and everybody's baited a breath going something something something guy we're way ahead motorhead
which going on all of coal coming out that was funny with the motorhead yeah but then all of a sudden
minus the minus the intro here but then this happened
and you had the dumb found the crowd was like first of all one of my favorite songs of all time
there was you want to get yourself psyched up for something this song will do it
and this and it felt like they this song played for ever yeah and I was thinking okay are we
doing a bit I thought first thing Chris Jericho yeah that's I was like right now so now we're
kind of just gonna this is this gentleman's FCW entrance music and OVW so for this so and about
we're still here yeah still looking around and so I'm on my couch going in the crowds kind of
going okay they're just playing maybe some weird music okay I'm out yeah I thought am I getting
a different feed from a different channel that's what I thought I thought somebody so that with the
audience nothing on the jumbo tron just blank yeah it was just Cena sitting there looking at the
Titan Tron the time it was like you know that whole looking to the abyss and the abyss looks
back at you yeah and then all of a sudden here comes the ampunk yeah and I thought about it more
that was in this song how perfect of a song and a cult of personality fits CM punk and here he is
and the roof just about blew off that wearing the same shirt he wore in Chicago which they are now
selling on shop dot I just gear in head is gear on David's already reserved his and they just
stared each other down as we went off the air now you remember as I started watching raw I sent
you a text as soon as Ray Mysterio won that match chance any other like she's well okay great song
don't care who you are great song I made a prediction that would ray won this belt and I'm gonna
take Ray's name out I'm gonna put CM Punk Senate I had this flash of brilliance what we're doing
here and I'm saying it now so when they announce this next week on raw I will again be the smartest
male live punk versus Cena and what did we say on this show last week the gimmick match ends the
angle punk Cena both belts hung above the ring we're gonna go razor Sean ladder match when they did it
with the two intercontinental times that's my name Tim no no yeah no no sorry no no there's not
That's not wrestling, it's summer slang, but that's what we're doing.
To me, you have to take the realism out that Cena has to lose.
If Cena wins the belt back, it kills the angle.
I agree.
But it's going to be the end of the angle regardless of me.
The angle with Cena.
That doesn't mean you can't continue what Punk's doing.
If CM Punk has signed a contract, it's brilliant.
And we still don't know.
You said to me, there's only three people that know the status
of Cena and Punk.
And those people are.
Punk Vince and Trev.
I don't know if there was Laironitis.
In Duff 4, it was four people.
Four people to come to John Laironitis, Triple H, CM Punk and Vince are the only people
knowing where this storyline is even going.
As well as it should be.
You have, and pretty much anything that they do.
You need to keep the circle as tight as possible.
We were watching before in Free Show.
We were watching a Legends of Wrestling Roundtable that talked strictly about the NWL.
But you and I have said, and it's very well documented.
If you tried to do that, and now, no way.
In the age of the internet, there's no way that flies the way it did.
So for this angle to work as well as it has, you have to keep the circle on this thing
as tight as it's humanly possible.
And they're doing that.
We'll see you next Monday.
I don't make any predictions.
I think there's going to be a match.
So we have just, we have squashed Alberto Del Rio for the title.
He's not even a factor anymore.
Take him out TV till Survivors Show.
Speaking of SummerSlam.
19 days away.
Yeah.
We'll be there.
We'll be live.
Fox and Hal Richardson, Texas, 75 in Campbell.
Free Show starts at $6.
$3 gets you in the door to see SummerSlam, which they $60 pay for you in high definitions.
I'm saying.
Definitely.
Thing about Puck is, can he keep up the bit?
I think he can.
How long did he keep a, the straight edge society for all, for all consideration, should
have been the lamest angle ever?
How long did he keep that afloat?
Yeah.
He worked all the way through what, 30 minutes of a royal rumble where he just, if somebody
came in, he threw him out.
They gave him the mic and he talked for two minutes.
Yeah.
And when he was ECW champion, how long did he keep that thing afloat?
I think this guy, we've said on this show, this guy is the future of this business.
I'm just, I don't know, ma'am.
Do you have to re-sign him the main thing on that, in my opinion?
And hopefully we'll know, because we, we were told originally that his contract's up
the day after SummerSlam.
That was the original bit, then we moved it to the night after money in the bank.
Well, I think that's just because it was in Chicago.
Yeah, the whole deal, the contract was supposed to be the night after SummerSlam.
That was the plan all along.
And he was not going to re-sign.
Yeah, I'd love to see him re-sign.
I think now you can, you've done something different with your, as far as you're on air
booking with Triple H.
You could be fun.
I have a prediction where this will go and I'm going to go ahead and say it right now
that I'll read it.
Please do.
I'll, I guess, 14th.
I think Trip Cosh Sena.
I think that's how this thing goes.
I think Trip turned heel and then there's your consortium with him in pump.
That's what I think.
I'm on board with that.
I think somehow Triple H gets involved in this match in some form or fashion and I think
that's how he goes down.
Shenanigans.
Shenanigans did a major.
Happens all the time.
Now let's go to a brand new segment.
Brent says he's actually going to get back involved here because we'll talk about some
stuff that he knows about.
We have a brand new segment on this show that we like to call Person of Interest where
we go back and forth Cody last week had a great one where we talked about Captain America.
This time it swings back to me where we're just going to pick, we pick someone of notoriety
and we, we really review, were they truly that great?
The career.
This week came to me this morning as I was perusing the great AT&T universe that we employ
here in the studio.
This guy is a guy who's always trying to do something.
Everybody is.
And a guy that the more I think of it the more I'm out.
Really?
And this gentleman's name is William Robert Thornton or as many people know him Billy Bob Thornton.
Man on his.
Are you really?
Yes.
Fan of him.
Brent?
No.
I mean, he's what done.
Sling blade.
You good role.
Sling blade.
And what was that?
John Qsack film he did.
Reservoir dogs.
No.
Reservoir dogs.
Going out movies here, man.
John Qsack and Billy Bob.
Who was it?
Pushing 10.
Pushing 10.
Really?
That one I liked to know.
Let's pass that.
Man.
I mean, to me all this dude did was have a meltdown on a radio show because he didn't
want to talk about his acting career when he was trying to push a band.
Hey, great band.
And he carried Angelina's blood on the necklace.
Yeah, I'm not a sling way to be a married to Angelina Jolie.
His band's not bad.
He had a little country flavor to him.
Again, is that kind of like Kevin Bacon's band's not bad?
Yeah, they were playing them on mainstream radio.
Like, that's Billy.
He's got a band since it's kind of a rockabilly bit.
You know, you ever seen Crybaby?
Same bit.
Billy Bob Thornton.
Crybaby.
He was in that piece of crime.
Oh, remember the band that goes down.
It's kind of what his band is.
It's kind of rockabilly.
Kind of a weird 1950s kind of like when it would Billy Gunn became rockabilly?
No.
Oh, okay.
I just wasn't sure.
Rockabilly.
You remember that bit?
Yes.
He was hooked up with the honky-tonk man.
Rockabilly.
I just don't know.
Is this guy worth all of the media attention that he's gotten over the years?
Man, he was a little, he was a hot stove there for a little bit.
He was everywhere.
Um, I mean, let's just look.
I liked him in finding that latch as the coach.
Apparently, there's going to be a bad, okay, bad Santa.
I'll give you that because I'm like, but apparently they're doing a sequel to that now.
He can now, I did not like him as butter maker in bad newsbeers.
No, I thought there's Walter Matthouse, the list of us.
He was in faster, which I still would like to see.
Uh, Eagle Eye, which was a very bad movie.
Mr. Woodcock, where he was just basically playing himself, um, school for scoundrels, which
I had no care for.
Uh, Monsters Ball, he was in that.
I'm almost, I'm, I'm, I'm this close to giving you Friday night lights.
You won't give me Monsters Ball?
That was a movie that was designed for Halle Berry to win an Oscar, let's be honest.
The Alamo.
Oh, it's like nine out of all that was a financial disaster.
Armageddon.
Can you give me Armageddon?
He wasn't a big enough role in that.
You know, but for me, he's one of these characters, he's one of these actors that outside
of Slingblade, he almost seems like he plays the same character.
He literally did a movie called Daddy in them.
He is, he is Jack Black.
Oh, no, sir.
I will write Jack Black plays the same character and everything.
Oh, he's been stiller just not funny.
Yes, he was a Princess Mononoki, really.
Uh, he did.
He hardly knew you, Billy.
Bob didn't episode of Ellen.
I mean, really, even before Slingblade, if you look, he had a career before that.
He was on Deadly Ground.
He's done a Steven Segal movie out and done and out.
That's a good one.
He was an Indian.
But he was also in Tombstone.
So there's a, there's a found one there.
Do you want to pull that smoke wagon and just stand there and pull it?
He's on a not-slanding.
Not-slanding?
And he was an indecent proposal.
Yeah, but I don't remember.
He did one episode of Evening Shade.
And we're going to have a whole show one night dedicated to Coach and Evening Shade, the
whole two hours.
Lowest, lowest rated episode ever.
We're just going to do the two random drops of episodes of Evening Shade and Coach
in a loop that hold on.
Coach, I'm in.
Evening Shade out.
Out, out.
And we're actually going to, this kind of ties into what we're going to talk about
at the list later.
So Coach, Billy Bob Thornton.
That great.
I don't think so.
There's been some stuff of his I've liked.
But I'm not going to put him in the actor's guild, Hall of Fame.
Yeah, I just, I think this guy, I mean, like I said, outside of being married to Angelina
Jolie, you know, I just, he was born in Heart Springs, Arkansas, which you know very
well.
Heart Springs or Heart Springs.
I can't talk about trying at the last.
Heart Springs.
I did not know that August 4th, 1955.
I did not know he was from Hot Springs, Arkansas.
His dad was an educator in high school teacher and basketball coaches.
Mother was a psychic.
Okay.
Really?
This is according to his bio and I am.
I gig.
Really?
Once open for Hank Williams, Jr.
He did not.
Not a band called Trace Ombre.
So it's easy top cover band.
I guess.
Um, really?
I mean.
Really?
I mean.
I thought it got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame October 7th, 2004.
Interesting fact.
Hollywood Walk of Fame.
You know, most stars buy their own stars.
Uh-huh.
$15,000.
Didn't know that.
I thought you had to be asked to.
I didn't know you could just buy one.
What you have to do is you have to petition the city to approve it, but it costs 15 grand
because Ralph Garmin, who works with Kevin Smith and Hollywood Babylon, has been petitioning
for years for Adam West, who does not have one.
It's funny.
They finally approved it for him and they're trying to raise the funds.
15 grand.
Yeah, but there's celebrities that have six stars.
That thing turned 45.
They called the band.
Oh, back on.
The original band series.
They were did a comp.
They're only three living left.
Bert Ward.
Adam West.
And one of the captain, Julie Neumar.
Yeah, it's the only three left.
She looks horrible.
Yeah.
Did you see any of that?
Pretty big deal.
Apparently, TD worked with Hank.
Yeah.
Well, as you said, it does like the blow that we'll find.
I'm sure the Hank, man.
But there's that person, Billy Bob.
The pop.
I'm dropping the gavel.
Billy Bob, not that great.
We all agree.
I'm right there.
Great.
Not that great.
Are you getting any idea what you want to do for next week?
I may do.
Brett, the hitman horn.
I don't know.
It's all I want.
Who are these guys on the TV right now?
That's Bradshaw.
But what is it?
What's the biggest work in here?
Is this the new black jacket?
Yeah.
No, this is that.
Don't call Zabakaya.
Oh.
Remember that?
And he played Justin Hawk Bradshaw, sir.
Lee Maryweather also.
Oh, sure.
That is true.
Yeah.
I can't imagine.
So Adam West doesn't have fifth that show.
Surely made some money.
I mean, are we?
And he truly just now got a truly Seth McFarland paising a little bit to do the mayor, mayor
Adam Cole hog there.
Well, they're, they're trailer from Comic Con was great.
Joe time.
Let's get on.
Yeah.
A little bit here.
Wake up.
Oh, that's not what I wanted.
I want this one here.
Wake up this room.
Proper music.
I do know what I'm doing every once in a while.
So if you are called football fan, you know about certain media days.
SEC media days were last week.
Last week.
Funny come now.
They're all picked fifth in the West by the coaches in the media.
So, but SEC media days last week, this week starting to yesterday in downtown Dallas,
the Weston at the Galleria, which is not a great hotel.
That was very strange.
It's not the secret location in Tampa.
No, but if you find a church.
I would have said the Wyndham, Anato, the Omni.
Hey, you know, Adam's mark.
But, uh, big 12 media days taken place this was Tuesday on Monday and today.
One of the high rumors going around again, we, we were not on the area and thank God,
we wasn't because me and you could have talked about this at Nazim.
Yep.
Um, the, the, we have the rumors.
Of course, if you know, the big 12, really not 12, we're down to 10 with the departure of
Nebraska and Colorado.
Rumors now heating up at Oklahoma in Texas, A&M are entertaining a move to the South Eastern
Conference.
We'll take Oklahoma, we can leave A&M.
In a lot of this.
Except for academics.
In a lot of this, when I think about this, I just, I know the reasoning and it's because
the course, everybody knows it's been real big in sports lately.
The long or network ESPN launched a Texas long or network.
Now that's coming next month, coming next month, ESPN, now that little thing got its nose
slapped more than one more than it hasn't even gone on me.
I don't know.
And they can keep the wheels on it.
I don't know if ESPN airs it.
I think ESPN pulls out.
I don't think they can have this part.
I think they are gone.
I just, this thing is going to be weird.
What they were wanting to do was they were wanting to show a high school football game like
Texas Schools on a long or network.
Oklahoma and A&M then go to the NCAA and say no, that is an NCAA violation.
Well, no, I had heard last week that they were talking about showing high school games
that were aimed at the area where potential recruits work.
Exactly.
Now, if they just pick a random high school, does that not go into, does that not violate,
but if they do it where they're aiming it in certain areas, doesn't that where the
violation comes in?
Yes.
The violation comes in is you can't even show, you know, Alabama got in trouble last year
because they showed Barry Sanders Jr. on his official visit on their Titan Tron and
Bryant Stadium.
You can't do that.
You cannot show any special, I don't almost say it's special treatment.
You, the media of it, you can't really show recruits on your sidelines, it's an NCAA
violation.
Well, they went so much to that big 12 commissioner, Dan Beebe gets involved.
He agrees with OU, he agrees with OU and Texas A&M and says that will not be allowed.
Also, they were going to get one conference game next year.
The rumor was they were going to be able to air Texas at Texas Tech was going to air
on the long or network.
Now it will not.
Really?
They have way will not be allowed to show any big 12 conference games on the big 12 network.
So media days, of course, Oklahoma and A&M flooded with questions about this would not
talk to ESPN reporters.
Not sure.
Not sure.
Only talk to Fox affiliates because a lot of people are saying of these sanctioning that
ESPN is allowing the long or network to happen.
And folks, this is the future of college football.
Texas will go independent in three years.
You said that on the show.
I said that.
I will hold you to that.
I think Oklahoma fits more in the big 10 because demographically, I don't know or geographically
get in.
A&M being close to Louisiana and Houston in the Southern.
They can get away with going the SEC.
I don't think Oklahoma can.
I think we can compete, but I just don't think Oklahoma can get up there.
They need to go to the big 10 with Nebraska and kind of re-ignite that.
So long or network?
I don't know.
I don't know.
This thing makes it a year on the air.
That's right.
I don't.
I don't know.
Baseball.
Women's basketball.
They're saying a few collegiate swimming.
Nobody watches that on ESPN.
Why would you think of a network built around women's basketball and college baseball and
swimming?
Well, what other single team do you know that has their own network?
It's big 10 network.
It's Notre Dame's on NBC.
It's SEC.
But the SEC doesn't even have a network.
It's just kind of, we partnered up with ESPN and we'll show you a game.
Yeah.
But the long-term network is they're going to have a on-campus studio.
That was room to be built.
That's an on-campus studio that's going to do pre-games, that University of Texas, pre-game
shows, post-game shows.
They're saying a lot of this stuff is up in limbo now.
Can we just form a mosquito-dependent school district studio here and just do it, Kano
in?
Yeah.
That's radio.
Speech of NCA recruiting.
The University of Alabama.
I'm sorry, John.
Just kind of move on.
We'll talk a little bit on that.
University of Alabama is defending running back Trent Richardson as there's a retailer T-Town
menswear.
T-Town?
It was selling Alabama's signed memorabilia by him.
The NCAA came and supposedly there's an investigation ongoing.
Kano has distanced from the business and put him on a three-year ban as a booster.
So I think in the SEC right now, if anybody smells smoke, you have to distance now because
like you said last week on the show, almost our whole conference is on probation right
now.
I need my gators to just stay away from trouble.
Are you hearing me, Will, much champs?
Keep us out of trouble.
It's for the only school in the SEC, not on some time for probation or something.
No, don't jinx me, sir.
But I think this summer, after this year, I don't think everything has to stay packed
like it's right now.
But don't be shocked if next summer we're not on another big witch hunt for a, let's
disband on the Big 12 type thing.
It kind of seems like that's just kind of what happened.
Texas has made that a real flimsy conference where nobody trusts each other.
That's what's happened to the Big 12.
Texas has put everybody in such a frenzy because everybody's so afraid of the other school
getting the upper hand and recruiting that you've kind of made.
Texas has done a good job of trying to muddy the waters.
So.
But is my favorite segment of on campus?
Is it right?
It's paired up in Bernadam.
It's time.
The college football cliffhanger this week features two schools that in my opinion won over
a chief last year.
The other I thought in my opinion under achieved last year.
They're both back.
Both top 25 ranked schools.
One of them, my hat's off to this, this coach to this first team.
The team I think is going up.
He's a familiar name.
Let's go ahead and explain what we're talking about.
The college, the college football cliffhanger or something that Cody does as we get ready
for how many Saturdays away from this Saturday for Saturdays away.
College football kicks off in four Saturdays from this Saturday.
Cody will pick two teams.
And the heat feels is on the way moving up and the other one moving on the way down.
We start as we often do almost every time with the team that's on its way up.
And I got a bit of a contention to go ahead, okay.
I never thought I would mention any, any ever mentioned this team on the cliffhanger.
This was a team that for a lot of years, out of a lot of people's radar, they've had
back-to-back legendary head coaches take over this team.
Okay, Blue Holtz, now the old ball coach, Steve Spurrier, and I'm talking about under
the South Carolina gang cocks.
Now, you're talking about the team that's moving up.
Yes.
Let's put this in the proper framework.
Last year, they won the East.
I think this team could win the SEC.
I think they can run in their schedule.
We'll get in.
Let me ask you this.
We talk about this on this show, this analogy.
Is this being the prettiest girl in the ugly party?
This year it might be.
This year it might be.
This year it might be a situation to wear the SEC's down a little bit.
Bama's down.
Florida's got first year head coach.
They're figuring some stuff out.
LSU, they have a quarterback situation.
So an Auburn's team's now in the NFL.
I could see a team like South Carolina kind of backing in to an SEC title, bringing back
seven on offense, six on defense.
One of the big guys are bringing back, in my opinion, is the best player in the SEC,
and that's running back Marcus Lademore.
That kid is a beast.
I told you about my last year recruiting, five star running back.
The loss is here.
Don't stick out, but once again, we had a center that graduated.
I'm sick about this.
Every week, your offense starts with your center.
Yes, offensive guard also.
Over on defense, you know, the only one really that's noteworthy, Tony Slotter, the
weak side linebacker, he's now in the NFL, I remember the Cincinnati Bengals.
The question with South Carolina is, how far can senior quarterback Steven Garcia take
them?
Him and Spurrier.
But it heads up.
But it heads up.
All year last year.
Now's the off season.
I believe that they also have the best receiver in the country, now Sean Jeffrey.
There's kind of got something working, but it's all going to hinge off Garcia Lademore
in Jeffrey on offense.
Can Spurrier.
He doesn't have the facilities as Bama or Gamesville or Tallahassee or Norman or Austin or
USC.
He doesn't have those type of facilities, but the guys made it work down there.
They went and beat the fool out of Florida State last year in the Chick-fil-A bowl, formerly
the peach bowl.
A team out Florida State team that I didn't really think was that bad.
Instantly Devin Taylor Jr. he's got first day top five pick, written all over him.
Let's go to the schedule.
I've got to pull up on my screen as well.
This thing gets nasty early, early at East Carolina.
And I mean, this is a fear.
He's Carolina.
No, I'm saying.
Fear East Carolina, especially, they're playing that at the Ericsson Stadium there in Charlotte
or formerly Ericsson Stadium.
Well, they're calling that thing now.
They're in Charlotte.
Oh, Florida.
And then 910.
Let's get it going.
At Georgia.
The head just baby week two.
Yeah, let's go.
I'm on board with that.
A Navy coming in.
Look at that.
Navy, not a slouch.
Yeah, but you got four straight home games.
Navy, Vandy, Auburn, and Kentucky.
Let me tell you something.
Auburn's not going to be what they were last year.
So I'm going to say, if they go for it again, Auburn Preseason ranked number one.
That's going to help your students.
Yes.
Strike the schedule.
But again, I put no stock in preseason polls.
But then here's a gauntlet where I think can get nasty.
Mississippi State at Tennessee at Arkansas.
So you follow up for, to me, kind of a soft homestand, and you go on the road to Stark
Vegas, Tennessee, and Fayette Noth on the road, and then, okay, then Florida comes to town,
the Citadel.
How come all you guys play the Citadel?
Is that an agreement?
I will not.
They're confirmed.
I bet.
And Alabama always plays, um, where'd Bear Bryant go to school?
What's that real weird?
Sister Mary's college for the mother.
No, there's some real weird school in Alabama that's like that, or a film or something.
That's always on their schedule.
Troy.
But then he's finished a year at the Citadel.
I mean, it's Clemson.
Oh, your hosting Clemson.
It helps in Clemson in a year.
But again, I get not a slouch and a team that I think is one of those, you can never
look past Clemson.
I'm not.
I'm not saying undefeated season.
I'm not going to go that.
I think we've only seen it done twice every cent memory.
I'm going to say they lose at Arkansas.
You think?
You notice Bama's not on this schedule.
Yeah, it's true.
Can you give me losses at Arkansas and I'm going to say Florida beats them at home.
Florida pulls the upset at their place.
I think Navy beats them.
So you're going to go that.
I'm going to give them two losses.
I'm going to go 10 and two on the year.
And I think that's going to be good enough to play in the SEC title game in Atlanta.
This is just one of those years for that conference.
I just, everybody's got Bama number one.
I have to see Bama roll out with a new quarterback, a rebuilt offensive line and a new running
back.
I just, I need to see them live before I give Nick Sabin another ring before I kiss another
ring of Nick Sabin's.
I need to see what he rolls out.
I'm with you.
I'm with you.
So I think they can win the SEC that might be wrong.
It goes up must come down.
If you recognize the music in the background, slowly becoming one of my nemesis this guy,
this team.
Of course, the Missouri Tigers team that finished second in the big 12 North last year.
Yes.
They upset us.
We came into their house.
Columbia number one team in the country left with a loss.
Missouri has just been good at it by graduation nine on offense, six on defense on a defense.
It wasn't very good.
Most know, reliably, as quarterback, Blaine and Gabber to the NFL, Missouri is always
Gary Pinkles has that team.
I think if the old big North was still together, they would dominate the big, the big 12 North.
Just like I said, Nebraska can't, they're not going to get the Texas guy.
Yeah.
Not getting that guy.
They have a quarterback issue, James Franklin, the sophomore.
He's got to prove what he is.
The great James Franklin.
Yeah.
Franklin and Franklin.
The thing about, you know, the best thing they have is a tie-in, they Michael Eagnew.
He's a five star and then, but they do have a great defensive end in Jockeye Smith,
which a lot of people thought Jockeye Smith was going to go pro after last year.
But he did decide to come back.
There's just a Missouri not on a death, but they're scrappy.
They're one of those teams where you can't snooze.
I like their logo.
Yeah.
You can't snooze on the zoo.
They will, if especially in Columbia.
Check the schedule, starting off with Miami of Ohio.
Add Arizona State.
That could be fun.
New look, Sun Devils, by the way, too.
You seen those yet?
I have not.
They've changed their helmet logo.
Oh, really?
Pretty cool.
Western Illinois.
Then you go to Norman.
We're paybacks.
Something.
Could be something.
Kind of not very good there.
Yeah.
So at Kansas State, Iowa State, at home to Oklahoma State, that's a game that I had said
on this show last week.
I think that's a loss for Oklahoma State.
Hey, circle that on the count.
Yeah.
I think Missouri pulls the upset at home and beats Oklahoma State.
And Halloween weekend, we go to caffeine.
Yeah.
And at Bailer, Texas comes to Missouri, followed by tech, and you finish a year like every
year at Arrowhead Stadium against Kansas in the border.
That second annual row is a tough go in the annual border war.
That's what they used to call for to Georgia.
So look at the schedule.
I think the last week of September in the first week of October could be kind of rough.
I think going to Oklahoma, then turn around and going to Manhattan, Kansas, could get
a little dicey.
I think the Oklahoma State on, that's a tough road for that.
I think they better get them while they can.
But like I said, don't snooze on Missouri.
They're scrappy, man.
Um, as you got them on the way down, I've got them on the way down.
Last year, they, they stunk up the, the, uh, the, uh, the sunbowl down there in, I
mean, they, uh, what's the other one in Tempe?
Sunbowls in El Paso.
You have the fiesta ball, and then you have another, the Tempe ball.
They played in some bowl last year that they got, they got upset by some by like, really
Missouri?
Really?
You didn't miss on them.
But I'm going to say they lose Oklahoma, they lose the case state.
And I'm going to go ahead and, cause it is a and M. I think A and M has enough this
year to beat them at Kyle Field.
I don't know if they lose a home game.
Missouri's tough in Columbia.
Crowd's good.
It's a great college campus.
I've been told.
Huh.
So, we're getting down, nitty gritty.
Here we are.
We only got four.
We got six more teams.
Fought me eight more teams at my choosing.
So, you'll find out what they are at noon and central time.
If you follow on Twitter, if you follow on Twitter, I'm Cody PS Hawk every day, 11 o'clock
central noon eastern, I tweet which teams will be on the cliffhanger that night.
I am yes, that Rob Irving, ERV, I and you can also follow the show feed on Facebook.
And for the clubhouse podcast, make sure you have the word podcast at the end.
We are joined in studio as well by Brent Peoples of Peoples Art, that's where you can follow
him on Twitter.
But I believe you also have a Facebook page too for that as well, sir.
Uh, not really.
I thought you had a people start Facebook page.
No.
I'm going to get one.
Okay.
But I've got my private Facebook page.
I'm sorry.
I've been smoking crack.
Sorry.
But I will have a fan page soon.
Okay, good.
Good.
Let's talk a little bit of diamond talk.
Yes.
Sorry.
Well, the trade deadline is, uh, but Thursday, fashion approaching, yes, Thursday.
And you still don't have a lot of movements because there's just not that guy that I think
people are willing to give up their season or their team on.
There's just not that guy.
Of course, the big one has been Carlos Beltran is the one that I think he stays where
he's at one more year.
I know that the Texas Rangers, I'm going to break in some news in here, but I know the
Texas Rangers for a fact really thought they were going to get him.
The Met said, uh, yeah, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, somebody of that ilk, we're not going
to trade you the team and get nothing back and I'll be honest with you.
The Rangers prospects right now, most of the guys are two to three years away.
So the, the, the mats won a young prospect, preferably a pitcher that can come in day one
and play.
And the Rangers don't have that gun.
The Yankees don't have that guy.
The only prospect they got is a catcher who is probably going to be on the active roster
next year.
They've put three years in the guy.
They wouldn't trade him for Cliff Lee, they're sure as hell not going to trading for Carlos
Beltran.
The Beltran wants to stay in the, and I have heard that too.
I've heard that as well.
I've heard Pittsburgh, which don't get my pirates, your pirates.
But there's just not that guy out there.
I know for a fact that Atlanta is one that's chirping with Beltran.
That's, I think that's all that team needs in my opinion.
Of course, Kevin Bell, the reliever for the San Diego Padres is another one that has
been rumored within the Rangers and the Yankees and the Red Sox and anybody else who needs
middle belief.
I also think he'd be another great pick up for the Rangers of the Yankees because you've
got to get to Rivera.
You've got to get to Phileas.
You've got to get to these guys and you can't blow five run ninth inning leads with, with
guys like that.
With, with you got to have a great set up guy.
But other than that, as far as trades go, there's just not a whole lot of action out
there.
This has been very, a very lackluster trade deadline, in my opinion.
As we move on to something last night that got stupid.
And I asked a question during this game and, do we need to run a run rule and make a
call?
It got so ridiculous.
I was looking for, I was looking for Lupus out there playing from the bad news bares
out there playing for Minnesota.
You know, it was that bad.
I mean, you brought in a right, a back-up right filter to pitch with the base, juiced.
But you know what?
Rangers' managers said it best.
I agree.
They're losing a night, three nothing.
But I, I agree.
That's the way baseball goes.
I hate to.
I hate to.
No, no.
That's the way baseball goes.
No, I'm going to speak.
Okay.
Okay, excuse me.
Rangers now up seven, six.
I'm sorry.
I haven't asked for fresh jet.
But this team scores a lot of runs at home.
There's ballpark.
It's a very hit friendly.
There's ballpark.
I'll be honest.
Minnesota is not very good.
And Texas has the bats to do something this year.
This is a good ball club.
I need to see them in postseason play before I crowned them world champions.
They're a good team.
Texas has a good team.
And I believe the window of opportunity on this team is wide open for one more year.
If you're going to win, it's this year because I think the Michael Young has to get
off this roster.
The pitching, you've got a real lucky CJ Wilson is going to want to vote low to money.
Nelson Cruz is going to want a lot of money.
You're going to have to re up Josh Hamilton for another year.
I think the window for opportunity for the Texas Rangers in my opinions this year.
And if you don't agree with it, look it up.
And just like the college cliffhanger, what goes up?
Yeah.
Must come down as we go to the Pacific Northwest.
My gosh.
Seattle.
Now loser of the Yankees three nothing in a rain delay in the night.
If they lose, that's 16 in a row that the Seattle Mariners have lost 16 in a row.
Well, I think as I'm sure we'll find out here in just a moment.
That's not a good thing.
Yeah.
I got some wolf.
Then deal.
Then deal Felix Hernandez.
If you've lost 16 straight games, he's your only commodity left is pitcher Felix Hernandez.
I just know because he's gotten rock two starts in a row.
I don't know what I don't know what the trade value is for Felix Hernandez right now.
I know he pitches terrible in Arlington 10 bucks in a bucket chicken.
I just don't know what's what's his trade value right now.
And I did say Kevin Bell.
I'm in he fell.
Thanks, bro.
And John also says C.C.
is about to be a perfect through five and a third.
I agree that right now.
Hey, that's about the only thing he has it done.
So I'll give you that C.C. has all of a sudden half the all star break.
It's like, okay, the Yankees, the switch has been flipped.
It's the all star break them in Boston dead dead locked, but Seattle's terrible, beautiful
field.
If you've never seen Safeco, it's in a beautiful part of Seattle right on the railroad
tracks.
Beautiful ballpark.
That's just a bad organization.
And I think it's badly ran.
I don't know if it's all that already lost an NBA team standings as of right now.
You got a lot of games in progress.
Get on ESPN dot com.
Do you want to check your score progress here in ball in the AL East Boston played earlier
today.
Now they're up to up on the Yankees.
They'll be back at the game and a half five year, beloved Yankees when we get done.
Yes.
Absolutely.
Tampa falls to 10 back.
It's time to start having the old annual fire sale in Tampa.
Tampa probably needs to reload and they've got some guys.
I think Wednesday night into Thursday morning, you're going to see some movement with Tampa.
I think Tampa's got some guys.
Over in the central now, Detroit and Cleveland's continuing their struggle, they're a game
and a half Cleveland style game and a fact, but there's Chicago at two and a half.
In the West, Texas now opens up to three and a half as Seattle falls to 17 and a half out of first place.
Billy Atlanta, what's going on here, bro?
What's going on Atlanta?
We're having a rough COVID as of late.
Wednesday all start break a game and a half back Atlanta's now falling to six and a half back
of Philadelphia in the now a little bit of time to catch up.
Yeah, the Mets 14.
So it's a two to horse race there.
Pittsburgh and St. Louis baby all knotted up at the top brother.
So this has got to be absolutely under John's skin right now.
His beloved cardinals are in a battle with the Pittsburgh.
Well, you've got Pittsburgh and St. Louis Todd, Milwaukee's a half game back.
And since then, he's only three.
So that's a when would it ever in your life in the last few years, would you figure that the NL Central
would be one of the most competitive divisions in baseball?
Because St. Louis dominated that division for so long.
I said I was saying.
St. Louis are Houston.
Remember those days?
I ain't had about 150 games.
John said he's cool.
21 to be exact.
He used to 21 games out of first place.
At that point, don't go the ballpark.
In the world, defending world champion San Francisco Giants, who defeated the Texas Rangers last year for the World Series,
are three and a half games up over Arizona as the Dodgers fall to 12 and a half back.
I'm just going to do something.
I'm going to check the wild card real quick, especially the NL.
Well, the NL, because I'm kind of seeing where all that shakes out.
Because Atlanta has a great record while I'm asking that.
The Yankees are eight up over the angels for the wild card.
That's in the A.M.
That's in the A.M.
And over in Atlanta, Atlanta's five and a half over Arizona for the wild card.
Okay.
So it's not all doom and gloom, but if Atlanta can add a bell train, add a big bat,
you said that for three days.
I've been saying that.
And now we're waiting.
So New York wild card in the A.M.
Atlanta, the wild card.
Who's Atlanta?
He's tied with Pittsburgh at three at the bottom of it.
I'm assuming John, you are rooting for Mike 11 Braves right now.
But baseball, we're getting, I wouldn't say crunch time, probably here in about three or four weeks
is when that's really going to pick up as we get into the early part of September.
And we start teams, starting to see teams, clinch divisions and playoffs.
What it shocked the world, the Pittsburgh pirates were in the,
we're in the baseball playoff.
To me, that's pretty wild.
It's a sign of the biblical sign of Armageddon in it.
Yes.
When the eye timing was the one eye crew reaches the top of the mountain, grabs the flag.
Listen to that music.
Just let it sink in.
I have, there's very few times in my life in my many years on this planet in Atlanta.
I don't revel in being wrong.
This is one of those times where I revel in being wrong.
Life begins tomorrow for a lot of teams.
Yes, sir.
NFL training camp.
Which, which you called me Friday night.
Dance in the happy dance and then called me.
No, what's going on?
Let me give you, so since I made my, but I've been following this thing at nauseam since.
We have, both of us have.
I called Rob, we did the show Tuesday.
I called him Thursday.
No, Wednesday.
It's over.
Let's go.
San Antonio Bound, baby.
Let's go.
Train a camp.
I called him Thursday night and go, what the actual WTF is going on here is what I said.
I just laughed and laughed.
Because you laughed.
He's just kind of set the scene here.
You had a press conference.
And four o'clock, central time.
By the owner saying, this we're good.
We've agreed on agreement.
We're just waiting for the players to sign.
Well, two hours later, after a press conference with all 32 player reps,
they throw a curve bongo.
No, we're not going to sign it just yet.
So, a lot of teams.
Well, Cincinnati Bengals were the one that was most guilty of it.
A lot of teams sent out emails.
If that's Cincinnati situation, just out of control.
They can't get anything done, right?
Them, Seattle, Chicago, and Oakland and a few other choice teams.
Immediately at that press conference,
sent emails to their season ticket holder saying,
the lockout is over.
Jerry Jones was quoted saying,
we thought we had a deal with the players.
And I feel like we've kind of been little bamboozled here.
Uh-huh.
Jerry Richardson, one of the Carolina Panthers,
also said the same thing.
Also, one of everybody in no Robert Kraft lost his wife
with a ballot.
On Wednesday.
On Wednesday this week as well.
I think his, that tragedy also may have kind of fueled talks a little bit.
Well, was it Jeff Saturday?
You actually said, you know what?
He, and he praised her, saying that she let her husband
and their hour of need, she let him handle business.
So, but we're back on.
It's a weird, it's a 10 year iron clad deal.
No opt out.
They're the only thing that's, that's reviewable in three years is the schedule.
Okay.
But let's talk about, as of today,
players can report for physicals, meetings, and pick up playbooks.
Also today, giraffes, picks, and rookie free agents can sign.
Also today, negotiations with unrestricted, yeah.
Okay, with free agents can happen, but you can't sign them until Friday.
Tomorrow being Wednesday teens can begin camps.
10 of them will do so.
The other 22 will do so as the week progresses.
The only game lost as we thought would happen is the Hall of Fame game.
Okay.
Next Monday night is this really, really, I mean,
a couple of headlines that are coming down now.
Tvara's Jackson is now dead as the Seattle quarterback.
Which that ends the end of the Matt Hasselback.
Absolutely.
I'm hearing probably Tennessee or the San Francisco 49ers for him as a landing spot.
The Carolina Panthers agreed to a six year 72 million dollar deal with Charles Johnson.
Okay, so they got, they got a pretty big wide receiver then out of the deal.
I hope so for that.
Maybe that's a sign to the Steve Smith era being over in Carolina as well.
I mean, we've talked about how free agency is going to be fast and it's going to be furious.
I'll tell you one.
If you're a cowboy fan today, you saw some house cleaning.
Marion Barber gone offensive guard.
Leonard Davis has now gone.
Of course, embattled wide receiver Roy Williams also gone.
John Dancer correction and he's right.
Johnson is a defensive end.
Okay.
Good.
Okay.
I thought she meant the room.
I was like, really?
Detroit let him go.
Yeah.
So Dallas didn't look cleaning house.
Of course, Baltimore last night cut a tight end Todd heap and wide receiver, Derek Mason,
a few other guys.
So you're starting to see some teams have to cut high price better in talent.
That's just this new salary cap.
It's a hard cap.
I think the cut of Leonard Davis by the Cowboys, I think they try to resign him for less money.
You think?
I don't think he was the first one I heard this morning.
Yeah, he was early early early early this morning.
Rumor is Plexico Burris is thinking of rejoining the New York Giants.
And they are not close to that.
Yes.
Reports are saying the Giants are actually considering this.
Eli hadn't been the same since he left.
Yeah.
I'm just going to throw that out there.
Since the year they won the Super Bowl, Eli Manning has nobody to throw the football too.
You can't just throw it in the air and hope walking Nixon makes a catch.
Generic wide receiver.
But Vince Young's another one I'm hearing Miami.
I know you hate to see that.
I'm also hearing as a backup for Vic in Philadelphia.
For some other, I heard some other quarterback Miami rumors this morning that really made me happy.
Who's that?
Bread farf.
I heard that.
No way.
I don't think that's even a possibility.
I think he's put out feelers.
I just think you have to get Chad Haney, another wide receiver besides Brandon Marshall.
Who can make a play and you've got to up.
You've got to do some of your offensive lines.
Well, they all sign.
They drafted an offensive line.
Well, they signed a rookie free agent today.
I just lost his name.
He said, Guy, that's out of Delaware.
Well, let's not just try to see.
I'm not going to sit here and try to evaluate talent.
But there's been some undrafted.
There have been some guys make hay with, you know what I'm saying.
But there's just so many courses.
The big one is Antonio Carmardi.
Former Carmardi.
A jet cornerback.
He's a free agent.
He wants crazy money.
Of course, I'm going to butcher this name.
Was seen.
Am I saying that right?
A saw of Nimandi Asimaga?
That's whatever.
And apparently the jets have started negotiations with
San Antonio Holmes and showing interest in me.
Yes, because I know San Antonio Holmes.
People had him as good as gone to Washington.
So, I don't know.
Dallas.
I know Dallas wants to make a play.
Sidney Rice is another free agent to keep an eye on.
Wow.
I think Sidney Rice is a great slot receiver.
I know a tweet this today was kind of funny.
Adrian Peterson.
Last year of my contract.
Next year, who knows?
Better rack up some numbers.
There's a lot of running backs out there right now, man.
Well, because the day of the one-back system's gone.
The one-back system's dead.
The one that's going to intrigue me the most, I think, is to see.
I think San Francisco's a quarterback away from being competitive.
You said last year that they probably had one more year before they started hitting things.
Yeah.
I think they need Alex Smith.
Even though they signed him to a one-year contract extension.
They worked roughly about five mil.
I think they have to have a guy come in and do something.
I mean, a guy that can start.
McNabb.
I thought if they were going to jump on McNabb, they'd done it last year.
I think maybe taking Hasselback from Seattle in San Francisco,
making them a one or two-year deal wouldn't be bad move for them at all.
But is that a role that he's going to accept?
As a bridge guy?
I hope so.
I'd like it to be.
But as a bridge quit, get this quarterback starts till he gets you this point.
He's 35 years old, so I hope so.
I hope Matt Hasselback can take that deal and go, you know what?
I can do this.
San Francisco, two years, you never know.
We may win a couple games, get in the playoffs.
You never know.
Dallas, to me, stays status quo.
They sign, dug, free.
I know something they do.
They have the money.
I said that.
It leads us into our last little thing of football here.
AFC and NFC West Preview really are starting our division previews.
We'll get close now.
Now, free agencies just started, so we don't know who's going to end up where.
But as of tonight, Dallas is one of those teams that I just,
I can't put my finger on what they're going to be.
I think the departure of Roy Williams helps them.
The thing about Dallas is they don't have a slot receiver.
They don't have a third down receiver to really help them come in and catch the football,
which is what they need.
Of course, running back, Marion Barber now gone.
So you're going to have a, you have a Demarco-Maria rookie.
You're going to have the Shard Choice.
The Shard Choice.
The Shard trailer.
And then you're going to have Felix Jones as you're running back.
Felix Jones.
Dallas, defensively not bad.
I think they, I think Keith Brooking, I think they need to release Keith Brooking in camp.
If you can keep him on as a coach, I think that's great.
But Keith Brooking is a 38-year-old middle linebacker in the National Football League.
So I mean, I'm just, he's as old as me.
It's all going to be all about Michael Vick.
It's going to be, is this, now I saw Vick do this same song in dance in Atlanta.
Come out out of the gate, hot.
Next year, he could barely complete a puzzle.
He fizzled it.
Now they've got a great tie in and sell it.
I love, I like some of the things they've done with McCoy.
It running back defensively, Felix is always going to be strong.
You know, Felix is going to have a really good tie.
But you know why Felix will never finish last in this division?
Because Washington's there.
Yeah.
Which that was my next thing.
Washington, rumor is they're trying to get a quarterback into camp.
They are opening up negotiations with trading McNabb to the Minnesota Vikings.
What we were hearing McNabb could be a Viking next year.
One old quarterback to another.
But Washington just wants to spend money.
They got a head case and Albert Haynesworth.
We don't know what the hell is going on with him.
I don't think he knows what's going on with him.
They watch Santonial Homes bad.
The thing about Washington, they don't have a quarterback unless they're prepared to start a young quarterback.
To me, they're a dead-end situation.
So, I hope...
That kids there start her.
Yeah.
I mean, it's terrible.
Washington Redskins are badly ran.
And you know what's funny?
We're going to see the big fraud that Shana Han is.
That was a John L. Wade lead team there, brother.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So...
And of course, you got the Giants, Tom Kotlin.
I believe this will be his last year in New York if they don't make the playoffs.
I'm throwing them out.
I'm not going to debate that either.
If you're in New York, you got to sound re-sign Plexico Burris,
because Eli has not been the same quarterback since his departure.
Yep.
Brad Shaw is a mediocre running back.
Kevin Boss, I think, is a top five tied in.
Joaquin Nixon is a very subpar wide receiver.
Defensively, I don't...
To me, that was their problem last year.
Kenny Phillips, the...
Kenny Phillips does the failed cornerback at the University of Miami.
They all fizzled out.
Oh, I'm hooking the fair.
So, I just defensively in New York's week.
So I'm going to go on a run like this.
To me, there's not a lot of sizzle in this division.
Other than...
Now like there's been the past.
Other than Philadelphia.
I believe it's Philadelphia's division to lose.
I think the Cowboys could break down their neck a little bit.
I think Dallas is...
I don't want to...
I think Philly wins.
And I think Dallas comes in second.
I think Dallas is a wildcard team.
I think Dallas can make the playoffs.
Well, for Jason Garrett, thank you.
You better hope so.
I think that...
It's Philadelphia's division to lose.
The Giants, they're bad.
I'm not great.
Dallas, to me, this is almost many rebuild for Dallas.
Head coach, new head coach.
Defensive is going to look totally different with the hire of Rob Ryan.
To me, Dallas is kind of in many rebuild.
Washington, the seller.
And I'm going to go New York third.
But this division, not a lot of sizzle on the other side.
We'll stay in the east.
The AFC east.
You're a division.
You're a division of my division.
Good division.
What makes this lockout great is the teams have been given all this money
and each team has to spend all of their cat money.
So Buffalo, either going to spend it stupid or spin it wisely.
And wind up in Toronto.
Yes.
Buffalo's a team that...
Remember last year, they won like four in a row.
And Buffalo's going to be in a playoffs.
Buffalo's a playoffs.
And Buffalo never won another game after that Tuesday night.
I made that statement.
Nope, nope, nope.
Buffalo's just a team that they just don't seem to get better.
I don't know.
I don't know if it's ownership.
If money's that tied up there.
Moving to Oklahoma City.
Yeah, Buffalo just...
There you go.
No, probably moved them to Los Angeles.
But...
I think they go to Toronto.
I really, really do.
Toronto has a hard time supporting the Argonaut.
So they're going to support the bills...
Better game.
Much better game.
Think.
First of all, it's not that far.
But Buffalo's a team that I just don't know.
I think they're owners of Mayflower Trucks in the middle of the night.
Yeah, yeah.
In the snow.
But Buffalo's a bad team.
I mean, what more can you say about Buffalo?
Yeah.
There's just not a lot to say.
I mean, they're a team that have been irrelevant
and professional football after a great run in the 90s.
There have been irrelevant for over 20 years.
I don't Miami.
Miami's the team that I think could go one of two ways.
Up or down?
Yes.
Okay.
They could go...
They could be good or really bad.
Let me say, they could be good or they could be...
Just think of the joint.
Tony Sparano, brother, this is your last year.
You better get on the horse and ride.
I agree.
Because this is it.
I agree.
If this team...
I'm not going to say Super Bowl of Bust.
I will say playoffs of Bust.
Oh, yeah.
If they don't make it to at least a wildcard in the FC,
Tony Sparano's job is done.
In Miami.
But I like some stuff with Miami.
I like the per little bit of production.
They're getting out of Ricky Williams.
It's not much, but it's...
It's enough.
It's enough to give Ronnie Brown a little bit of a breather.
Well, Ronnie Brown, great player.
I like Chad Haney.
I want to see what Chad Haney can be.
I think drafting the other...
Draft in the center.
Pouncy out of Florida for the Dolphins is a big deal.
Absolutely, guys of protection.
You can't expect Chad Haney to sit back there and get nailed.
I like Miami to get in talks with Braylon Edwards.
I think they need another deep threat.
Okay.
He played with Haney at Michigan.
Yeah.
There's that connection there.
You know, Brandon Marshall, that's what I'm saying.
But Miami needs another guy.
John says that Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are both free.
They'll reside there.
Yeah, I mean...
There's not a market.
There's not a market for Ricky Williams right now.
Stay in Miami.
Yeah.
Stay in that Ronnie Brown.
There's just not really a market for those guys.
Ronnie Brown's stay in Miami, so I have to buy another jersey.
Yeah.
So I think, of course, you know, the New England Patriots.
Check out buying a jersey.
New England Patriots, there we go.
I think you saw some tinks in the armor with New England last year.
But what did we talk about New England last year?
Yes.
They're not the New England Patriots.
Nobody fears them anymore.
Brady to me looked ancient against the Jets.
He finally looked aged.
I think Bill Acheck.
They're going to really rally around their own or this year.
So the Patriots could be dangerous because nothing's more dangerous than a team running off raw emotion.
Absolutely.
It's a very dangerous team.
I think that's going to be a story of a lot of college football teams this year.
But it's very tough to get on a team that's raw emotion.
Of course, Randy Moss been gone.
They've never replaced him.
They've never replaced Randy Moss.
That's one thing, Brady.
Brady does not have a big target.
Look for them to maybe make some noise and afraid to see Braille and Edwards.
Santonio Holmes.
Brady can't throw the ball to the tight end every time.
Or Rest Wilker.
Running games, shaky.
I'm starting to worry about Rest Wilker.
Yeah.
He's taking a lot of it.
He's getting banged up on there.
I mean, right now, New York Jets.
A ton of questions.
Braille and Edwards are free agent.
Santonio, Santonio Holmes are free agent.
Call Marty's are free agent.
We don't know about the Jets.
I think Mark Sanchez is right now the second best quarterback in that division after Brady.
Because I don't know what Haney is going to be.
And Buffalo may call me as we're on the air.
I just don't know what there is.
But the Jets to me.
That raw, raw, raw.
We're going to win a Super Leverier Crap.
It's got to come to an end.
Let's just play football.
Jets.
How much more do you expect to get out of La Damien, Tomlinson?
You don't know.
So I'm going to go in this order just because I'm going to go the Jets Miami as a wild card.
I'll take it.
New England and Buffalo dead last.
I don't know if the Patriots, because like I said, raw emotion.
It can either build you up or it can be a huge letdown.
That might be blasphemy, me saying that the Patriots don't be in the playoffs.
But there's just something about them looked very strange last year.
They could they're easily exposed.
That's what I would try to say.
Because right now Brady has very little offensive weapons.
Excuse me, Danny Woodhead does not scare me.
So next week NFC-AFC North.
Okay.
John and I look both looking forward to NFL.
So.
Got together on Open Day Live Share.
I hope we do the same thing this year.
Couple of quick random sports thoughts.
July 22nd 2001.
Do you remember this?
Ian Wuseman ends up with an extra club in his bag.
Yes.
That was last week in 2001.
Also.
July 21st, 1945.
At Shrive Park in Philadelphia.
The Tigers and the M.E.A.s are tied at 1-1 after 24 innings.
When the game is called because of darkness.
Although there are lights in the stadium at the time,
there was a rule in the league that you can't do day night games.
Huh.
So they ended up having to call the game.
And the prohibition against this wouldn't be lifted until 1955 years later.
So you can't have your NASCAR day night games back then.
Also don't forget Dark Horse come back this year.
Oh, that's right.
Dark Horse.
Maybe we do a little last man standing this year.
The good.
Yeah.
Get Charlotte involved.
Maybe get a couple of other ladies involved.
Maybe Brian, if he wants to be involved as well.
Straight light is on.
Straight light is on.
Brent, are you still with us?
Yeah, I'm here.
Here we go.
Every week we always close the show with a list.
The pendulum swings back to me this week.
The list we do tonight.
If you know anything about me, you know I am a fan of the movies TV music.
Shion Riz.
And I thought this week we talk about top 10 TV stop downs or stuff that I automatically
to might be DVR2 regardless.
Tom.
Tom.
Number 10.
This is a new addiction for me.
This is something that I discovered while I was on vacation in Florida.
With my buddy Phil's kids, we were all watching, clicking in the middle of the night and wound up on Travel Channel.
Man versus food.
In.
Love this show.
Love it.
This is a guy that does eight hours of cardio a day just so he can eat some of this stuff.
But I really like Man versus food.
I don't know about the Man versus Food Nation.
That's kind of weird.
Yeah, they've tried to spin that.
And Bert the Conqueror, I want his job.
I'm just saying.
Number 9.
Mash.
If it's on, I will stop down to watch.
What?
It's been a while.
It's been a great show.
Watch it when I was a kid.
Love it now.
Number 8.
Anytime HBO does a sports documentary.
It is automatic record.
We're getting that way just general HBO documentaries in general.
They do a great job.
Number 7.
Anytime.
Stars puts the word Spartacus on something.
In.
In.
Now I know it's San Diego.
You were there this past weekend.
Did you see the footage from the new one?
Spartacus vengeance.
No, I've seen the picture of the new Spartacus though.
Oh, he looks just like the other guy.
Yeah, which is pretty good.
You need to get caught up on these shows, sir.
Cancer, right?
Yeah, that's what he's, that's what the, yeah.
The old guy.
Mm-hmm.
But the new one, Spartacus vengeance looks.
Oh, it's...
And see, my wife didn't watch Blood and Sand,
but she did watch Gods of the Arena.
Well, I just watched the past two seasons.
Oh, I did watch while I worked.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I just watched that show so good.
Some of the effects are a little over the top,
and man, that shows good.
And Sam Remy's involved.
So, yeah.
I forgive him for Spider-Man.
Number 6.
Anytime, there's a classic unplugged on.
Like, now Adam Lambert's doing unplugged.
That's not a...
Okay.
Let's go back and watch, you know,
the original black crow's unplugged.
Or back, you know, REM unplugged.
Paul McCartney unplugged.
Cheryl Duro unplugged.
Lenny Kravitz unplugged.
If I'm scrolling through a VH1 classic
and one of those pops up on there.
Also, number 5.
The new season starts up on G4 this weekend.
The American version of Ninja Warrior.
This show is just awesome.
It's like, it's like, wipe out done seriously.
I mean, there's guys that goes so far as to construct
replicas of some of the stuff in the stages
like in their backyard so they can work on it.
I mean, you guys are serious.
That's tough.
Only three guys have ever beaten it.
None of them American.
Ever.
And this year, if you're the guy that wins it,
it's a $500,000 case-wiss endorsement deal.
Huh.
On the line for American Ninja Warrior.
Number 4.
Pop-Up Video.
Well, that's been a while since I've seen that.
But, absolutely.
VH1 Classic shows them in blocks every once in a while.
Chad and Jules and I got caught up
watched like two hours straight of them
a couple of weekends ago.
Number 3, Friends.
If it's in, it's a stop down.
Really?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
There was a time when TBS would do like two hours
on a weeknight and I'd be locked in.
Number 2.
One of the greatest animated series of all time
in animated acts.
Really?
Yeah.
Really.
I expect more from you, sir.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
No, that's great.
One of the greatest animated series of all time
we just said earlier that their preview
of the new season at Comic Con just when you think
this show can't get any more uncomfortable.
It's about to.
Family guy.
Yeah.
Whenever I think, like Monday's and Tuesday's,
TBS would do two hours and then you'd have another hour
of it on Adult Swim.
That's, you call it a day.
Yeah.
Family guy.
Love family guy.
We'll talk about it off air what I saw in the footage.
You haven't seen the footage.
Facebook page.
It's on there.
That's the list.
The pendulum swings back to you, sir, for next week's list.
No idea.
Oh, we got a week to think of that.
Yeah.
Brent, we thank you for joining us.
Absolutely.
That's from the plugs out again.
October 5th.
October 5th.
The last of the greats from me and Josh Biakov
through Image Comics.
Cannot wait for that.
Go tell your comic story to order it.
Please.
That's right.
And if they don't, they're un-American.
Yeah.
You can also pick up the traits for his Zenoscope work too
for Sinbad and Brothers Grim.
Grim, Grim, Grim, Grim, Grim for details.
Yeah.
You can get that stuff through genoscope.com.
Now, have you guys the time you're going to sue NBC for the new Grim show yet?
Or...
Hey, man.
That's all, man.
I mean to draw the stuff.
I'm looking forward to seeing this stuff.
Make sure you're following Brent on Twitter at PeoplesArtP-E-E-E-P-L-E-S-A-R-T.
Cody, PSL.
I am, yes, that Rob Urban.
Until next Tuesday night at 8 on the East Coast.
5 on the West Coast.
For Brent and for Cody, I'm Rob.
Clubhouse is closed.
Good night, Tulsa.
Good night, Tulsa.
Good night, Tulsa.
No, I don't want to do wrong
Great, I love things like it's true
Perfection, you're just giving me a call
And I'm just a spider
I'm thinking of you, you're thinking of me
We're thinking of we
Girl, this heart can't stop
Finally you love me
We're thinking of we
Girl, this heart can't stop
We're thinking of we
We're thinking of we
She stopped the way that I did
She stopped the way that I did
We're thinking of we
We're thinking of we
Girl, stop it baby
