It is a sooner orgator production.
It is the 15th of February in the year of our Lord 2015.
It is season 5.
Episode 28.
Chronologically, 287 times, I've said that too.
The clubhouse is live and on the air.
We welcome you no matter how you're listening.
Whether you're right here, live on your stream.
We appreciate you.
If you're listening on our archive, we appreciate you.
If you are listening on iTunes, we appreciate you.
No matter how you're here, we're just about your here.
My name is Rob and it, otherwise it looks like I may have picked the right week to take off.
Just saying.
If you live in the Dallas Fort Worth area, you know the weather is going to get really wacky over the next few days.
But this is not the weather channel.
We got people.
Oh, person.
Besides me and the studio.
Joining me across the desk to my left as he tends to do from time to time.
Is a man who knows his movies because he watches a lot of them.
He is my co-host.
His name is Chad.
Wow.
Just random.
Very bonds didn't hit a home on every time he got to the plate.
Okay.
We kind of do that as a living.
You know.
That's fair point.
I was hoping.
A pseudo.
A pseudo career.
It's a, I guess you could call it an extra large hobby.
Yeah.
We have a parlay that in anything lucrative yet.
No.
It's nice.
Just us hanging out.
Doing the show.
Which we'll do from time to time on.
Yeah.
Hope you've had a great Valentine's Day weekend.
If you have a person to do said Valentine's Day type activities with.
And if not, we'll be had a good weekend.
We start every show with corrections.
Listen last week.
Didn't hear anything that stuck out to me.
I don't know if you heard anything that stuck out to you.
I listened to it.
I didn't pick up on anything.
I also had a great special edition that went up on Friday as well.
Might want to go check it out because if you subscribe,
but iTunes, you get stuff that the live audience doesn't get.
Not necessarily during the show itself.
But you'll get some extra stuff that we like to put on iTunes for the people
that subscribe there because you can listen anywhere you want.
I mean, granted, we love the live audience.
Do not get me wrong.
But I just, you know,
but I do a little something something.
I'm just saying.
Also, we do have our live chat room where you can give us feedback.
But you must be our registered user in order to do so.
Doesn't cost you anything.
Become part of our crowd.
It's good for our freely goes.
We are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
And they are frail.
So let's get into a little bit of TV talk.
I am on vacation this week.
Let's show it some funny yells.
But for a completely different reason.
He is possibly former anchor of NBC nightly news,
Brian Williams.
Wow.
Six months, no pay.
No super you.
And there's a little thing called integrity that's important in the world.
Almost until Labor Day.
Wow.
It's not like he can't afford it.
But good Lord.
Does somebody brought up on the radio this week that this happens the same week that
his daughter does a very uncomfortable for a parent scene on HBO's curls.
Worst week ever for Brian.
Just saying.
But from a forced vacation to a chosen vacation.
John Stewart announces this week.
He is leaving the daily show by the end of the year.
Some I read today.
Somebody put up a really interesting concept of who should replace him.
You know what?
I'm totally on board.
I issue Tyler.
Did you know I'm a fan?
Yeah.
She's currently hosting.
Who's lying?
Is it anyway?
Mm-hmm.
And she's got to know this.
Who's lying is it anyway?
It's good.
It's not the British version.
I will take to my grave the British version is better than any version that America
has put out.
Well, it was it was popularized by Drew Carey hosting it.
But I think that.
Drew Carey added about as much to that show as I did sitting in home watching
and on my list on my living room sofa.
Did you want to see the real genius of that show go back and watch the British version?
I'm just saying.
Because you see a lot of the same people.
Yeah.
There's just a certain different feel to it.
Mm-hmm.
But no announcement is going to be made of when his last show is or who will be replacing it.
So I'm not sure what's going on there.
Also not sure what.
If he's going to go direct,
or if he's just going to take some time off,
or what's going on.
But he made it sound like he was just going to take some me time.
Take some family time.
Probably made enough money.
Yeah.
You've got to know he's earned it.
Constantine had its season finale this week.
It was okay.
It definitely, there was definitely,
I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger ending.
But there was an ending that,
made me ask some questions, such as.
Well, I don't want to run if you haven't seen it.
Let's just say.
Some alliances may not be what they think they are.
Okay.
So.
It's a real, I mean, I really enjoyed the show.
I think you should maybe binge that and get caught up.
Okay.
It's not great.
But it's not horrible.
But NBC, we've talked about for weeks how this show is on the bubble.
Apparently they're shopping at the sci-fi.
But here's my question.
Why should they have to shop it to sci-fi?
They're both under the same umbrella.
I thought so.
They're owned by the same network or universal.
Universal.
Yeah.
It's universal.
Yeah.
But I mean, I think sci-fi might be a better home for it.
I think you'll find a better audience.
Probably.
But because first of all, you've got it in the death slot.
It went from Friday nights at nine Eastern to Friday nights at eight Eastern.
So.
I think sci-fi will pick it up.
I think there's a back-to-back with their haven leading into, uh,
on Oak is haven leads into, uh, Smackdown now.
But I mean, I think it'll be a good show for them.
Maybe that in 12 monkeys in a back-to-back block.
Yeah.
That would work.
So.
So who was announced that they're going to be doing a series?
Uh, based on the Steven King novel, 112263.
Do you know about this?
We talked about this a couple of weeks ago.
We talked about cell.
We didn't talk about this.
Who did I talk about this with?
Uh, you guessed it on other podcasts?
No.
Okay.
I could just want you to talk about that.
Yeah.
I'm not going to be a problem.
You're always welcome to go guess on other podcasts.
Because all that does is promote this one.
But, uh, but basically this is a time travel story about a guy going back.
I believe they try to prevent the candy assassination.
Right.
But there.
Who's going to do a series on it with James Franco?
I haven't read the book.
I've heard the book is really, really good.
But.
Since it don't drive me nuts because I know I talked about this with somebody.
So I guess at this on this show last week, we talked about cell being done with Sam Jackson and John Cusack.
Because Clay was more informed on that than you and I were.
But I'll be, I mean, Hulu.
They're kind of throwing their hat and the ring in this series thing.
They're, they're, at least they're trying to.
Uh, TNT has renewed the librarians for season two.
I did talk to the lovely and talented Mrs. Urban about this.
And she was like, it was okay.
She, she said she kind of liked it.
She never finished the season.
But she said it was okay.
Now, what is the deal?
This is a, basically it's about a group of librarians who.
Go on missions to find artifacts.
Now, is this connected to that thing that no while he did?
No.
It's not.
Not that I'm aware of.
No, that was a, that was a book series, I believe.
Uh, Russ is in the chat room, good to see you, sir.
No, that was, I think that, but I'm pretty sure that was based on a book series.
They were trying to franchise and it failed.
Well, they did several of them.
I mean, they did at least two, maybe three or four.
Now, this is a whole different ball game.
I just thought maybe this might have been connected to it.
And congratulations to a lady, we, I don't know if we,
do we talk about her on air or not, Adrian Policki?
Was that on show or was that in pre-show?
Uh, it gets a big, how you doing?
Not sure.
She has been promoted to series regular on, uh, agents of shield.
Yeah, we're watching a commercial studio right now called Outcast Hayden Christianson and Nicholas Cage.
Wow.
Sorry, gentlemen.
But you know, I'm a huge fan of the Adrian Policki.
Yes, so that's a tall girl.
And she's, she's got some geek cred from what I'm, from what I'm seeing by her.
Well, she, she was going to be Wonder Woman.
Well, she was, uh, she was in the second GI Joe, and she's on this thing.
And like I said, when she showed up and she was wearing a Star Wars T-shirt on agents of shield,
I was like, not helping me with this.
I know the crush.
She's not the girl who played the green girl in, in the first Star Trek.
Well, yeah, no, no, no, no, that's a different girl.
Okay.
Also, wow, how you doing?
She's on the how you doing list.
Or does she take over first Scarlett?
She was in, because she was in GI Joe, was she not?
Not the first one.
She was only the second one.
Yeah.
Oh, you're about the green girl?
Yeah. I think she was in the first one.
Oh, hello.
I think my keyboard's dead.
I really just had to turn it off a bit.
I have a Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad.
Yeah, there we go.
And it just kind of decided.
I didn't want to work there for a minute.
I think she was in the first one.
Of course, our fact checkers not here, so if we get.
How do you realize that movie was six years ago?
She's the first Abram Star Trek.
That's insanity.
When our minds were effectively blown by somebody,
finally doing something right for a change.
Rachel Nichols.
Pegalia.
Yeah, she was in the first one.
She was also in Conan the Barbarian.
Really?
She was Scarlett in the first one.
Or I'm pretty sure Adrian Policki.
And I make me look this up.
Didn't she, did she play Lady Jay?
And the second one?
I never saw the second one.
You're making me look this way.
I heard so many horrible things.
It wasn't great.
Yeah, she played Lady Jay in the second one.
It wasn't great.
It just wasn't terrible.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like I wouldn't give it the one word Charles Barclay review.
And you know who apparently Charles Barclay,
not a fan of math.
We learned this last week.
Any other TV news that you want to bring up while we're in TV talk?
Walking dead is back.
My wife has gotten into the show.
Really? Yes.
She has set the VCR for this evening.
The VCR?
You actually still have one of them?
Allegedly.
The DVR.
Actually, we do actually have one in the living room.
But I use it for a clock and more than anything else.
And what is it with Sony VCRs?
It's like over time they lose time.
Like I'll set the time.
And then like two months later, be two minutes behind.
You know, that clock I've got in my living room.
It looks like it's just a floating.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It does that too.
I'm surprised that one doesn't speed up.
Because every time I come to your house, it's like nine minutes fast.
No, it's notoriously slow.
We are your one stop shop for all things sports entertainment.
Don't forget next week is WWE Faceline.
We're going to be doing an abbreviated show.
Wrestling intensive.
So please be forewarned of that.
Because some members of the Empire not real savvy
into the world of professional wrestling.
But what better show to help you get there than this one?
Yes.
I defy you.
We will be your gateway driver.
Exactly.
Allegedly.
Let's move on.
Do some NBA talk.
Congratulations to Greg Popovich.
Reach is 1000 wins as a head coach on Monday.
He is the ninth coach in the history of the animated do it.
But only the second to do that do it with one franchise.
Do you know why he thinks that he was such a great coaching selection for the spurs?
Why he thinks?
Could see used to be the general manager.
He made himself the coach.
Okay, okay.
But you know what?
And he actually said it and they were asking me to look.
I was fortunate to be around great players.
And when you surround yourself with great players for that long,
I mean it's not that hard to get to plateau like that.
At least he's humble about it.
Yeah.
This is not trying to take full credit for it.
Well, we look at the roster he's had.
I'm just saying.
Shall we get to some.
Well, they got a lot of dead here.
What's going on tonight?
We're just used to having more people here.
I guess so.
Yeah.
Have we forgotten the art of the two man podcast?
Is that what's coming on here?
Shall we get to some standings?
Let's do it.
In the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division,
the New York Nicarbuckers continue to suck as they've lost five straight there.
10 and 43 there are 26 games back in their division.
They're still better than them.
By two games.
I'm just saying.
But they are also nine games behind the boss and the Celtics.
Boston kind of floundering this year in that in that mid range.
Russ said he's going to help us and be fat checker tonight if we don't get down.
Okay.
So that's good news.
Brooklyn.
14 and a half back on Toronto.
Toronto has one three straight.
Who are the Toronto Raptors?
Where the heck have they been?
You ain't lying, brother.
You asked me to name a Toronto Raptor.
I'm going to give you a Vince Carter.
I think that's where he came there from.
Outside of that, I got a big bag of nine.
In the Central Division, the Indiana Pacers at 21 and 33 are 13 games back.
They are tied with the Detroit pistons.
Come on, stand in the van.
Do some work down there.
They are nine and a half games behind the Milo Walk hay.
Milo Walk hay, two games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But Cleveland is a game and a half back on the Chicago Bulls.
Who have one four in a row.
Remember, this is all star weekend.
So these numbers have been intact for two days.
Did you have any of them?
All star weekend coverage, sir?
Who was showing one of the local shows was showing a clip from this lamb duck contest.
Your kid that won it?
Yeah.
Good night.
And then step on Steph Curry, one the three-point contest as well.
And then apparently Bosch hit a sick half-court shot during the skills challenge.
Who's your one?
It's all on TNT, isn't it?
I mean, I think the game tonight's on TNT for sure.
And remember, kids, the over-under is probably about 250.
Because there is no defense in this game.
It rarely is.
In the Southeastern Division, the Orlando Magic at 17 and 39 are 27 games out of
first place.
They are seven games behind my beloved Miami heat.
Who are not playing?
Well.
I mean, we're what?
Four and six in our last ten?
It's not good.
You're not approaching Lakers numbers, but no.
But you know what?
Still a fan.
I will stand by my team.
I'm not going to bail on them.
Because we've been here before.
That's the curse of being a South Florida sports fan.
Yeah.
Charlotte is actually tied with Miami.
They are both 10 games behind the bullets.
I mean, the wizards.
Washington is going to get you a treble one of these days.
Washington is 10 back on Atlanta.
Atlanta is carrying this.
Did you know this?
I don't know if you saw this or not.
But your Eastern Conference player of the month.
Is Atlanta starting five?
Good God.
They are sharing offensive player of the month.
Which I'm on board with.
Because they're playing mean balls.
They truly, truly are.
In the Western Conference.
North West Division.
I mean, I stole our timber wolves.
Are 11 and 42.
They're 32 games out of first place.
They've lost two in a row.
They are eight games behind the Utah Jazz.
I'm sorry.
Their minutes.
It was 25 games back.
They have games back in conference games back.
Right next to each other.
And that messes with me.
Let's see where I'm.
There I am.
Utah is a game behind Denver.
Denver is now eight games behind Oklahoma City.
But Oklahoma City is eight behind Portland.
You know, Oklahoma City's won their last three straight.
However, Portland's won their last two straight.
So it's kind of like one of those anything you can do.
I can do better kind of things.
So the one-upsmanship series.
And the Pacific Division.
Speaking of the Lakers Chad just mentioned.
Who, by the way, the Lakers have lost six in a row.
Good.
They are 13 and 40.
They're 30 games back of first place.
They're six at five and a half behind second.
I'm in full.
Sacramento is 10 behind phonics.
Phonics is six behind the clippers.
But the clippers are still eight and a half back on Golden State.
Who have won three in a row.
They're seven and three in their last ten.
They're 23 and two at home.
The Golden State clippers are sir.
Really?
Yes sir.
They are.
The Golden State clippers.
I'm just all over the map today.
It's hard for me to believe that the clippers are doing better than the Lakers.
I think it's the one it is.
Golden State clippers.
Who, who is sitting in this chair?
That was like me talking about.
It was the last thing I said Dean Smith was on Grace College football coaches of all
time.
Thank God there's other people on this podcast.
Or corrections would be half the show.
Then I think my brain's like, are we on vacation?
Why, why are we thinking?
I thought you were doing a bit.
Were you actually screaming that up?
I genuinely screwed that up.
I thought you're like your phoenix thing and really walk.
I'm like, okay.
I'm just, I'm not going to correct them on that.
I figured you knew what you were taught.
Really need to pay attention.
I thought you knew what you were talking about.
No, no, no.
I'm fully, fully okay with admitting what I screwed something up.
I thought you were goofed.
No, no, no.
In the Southwest divisions, the New Orleans.
Fly, Pelican.
They're one game above 500 and they're 12 back in the division.
There are seven games behind San Antonio.
San Antonio is a game behind your Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas now four out.
There are 64 in their last 10.
Dallas playing well at home though.
17 and nine at home, 19 and 10 on the road.
So they're, they're winning important games.
Good.
They have to win more of them.
Yeah.
That's the problem.
They are a game behind Houston Houston now.
Three back on Memphis.
But Memphis is another one of those teams.
Great regular season.
And then obviously they get to the playoffs and they're like, wait a minute.
Is this the game we played?
We forgot what we were doing.
This goes there, right?
But I get points if I miss, right?
No?
No?
No?
What about if I missed free throws?
Do I get like a one in one like in college?
No?
Okay.
Fair enough.
Let's say it.
I'm just saying.
You are listening to the clubhouse podcast.
Sometimes accurate.
We've been doing this for five and a half, for four and a half years.
You wouldn't guess by listening today.
I'm telling you, because my brain's on vacation.
I can't see.
My brain's like dude.
You're going to get through this and ain't going to be my much,
but you're going to get through this.
Back to that set here and listen to you do it.
I'm like okay.
But see that happens every week though.
There's always something that's like five seconds later.
Dude.
Did you?
No?
I can't.
I just thought you were screwed with the team.
No.
We know what tonight's episode is going to be called now.
Rob needs to buy a map.
No, it's called Rob's brain is on vacation.
Let us move on and do a little P.O.I.
P.O.I. stands for person of interest.
It is segment that we do on this show each and every week where we take a person
or an entity and we debate their greatness or lack thereof.
Although we don't do it on paper these days because that would take a pretty
time.
The pendulum does swing back to me this week.
And I want to talk about something that I don't know if it's
as big of a deal as it used to be anymore.
I mean, I use it every once and again.
But not like I used to.
And what I'm referring to is a serious XM radio.
I haven't my car.
I pay for it.
But it has the blue worn off the rose here.
I don't think so.
I think maybe it has for you a little bit because you're such
you're so podcast intensive.
And I'm iPod intensive.
Yeah.
And I mean, I was a long time subscriber of this back when I was working.
Yeah, when I was working for a pest control company.
And terrestrial radio became such a beat down.
Oh, and it still is.
I still can't listen to regular.
Well, that's when it started for me.
That's what kind of pushed me over the edge.
I've got to get something in my car.
I was getting a little bit burned out of my own stuff.
And it's not like I didn't have tons of music on my own.
Can I start tracking for just a second speaking of terrestrial radio?
Did you notice another move by a local talk show that we used to listen to quite a bit?
No.
The Russ Martin show is now back on the AM dial.
1190.
He's gone from the eagle.
He's morning on 1190.
Really?
Yep.
I saw a billboard the other day.
That must be real recent because I was listening to him last week.
I saw a billboard.
Wow.
That's that's her shattering.
And it was one of those electronic billboards.
I don't know if they jumped the gun or what.
If you may.
I don't know if you want to verify that.
Yeah.
I saw it last week.
And I'm going to tell you.
I'll go ahead.
I'm sorry.
But it really.
It opened my eyes to talk radio that otherwise probably would never have listened to.
I'll be an Anthony in specific.
Oh, be an Anthony.
And I kind of wanted to get back on the Howard Stern bandwagon because I was a fan of his show.
Right before you went satellite because I can't remember who was carrying it.
I guess one of my three was carrying it right at the end of his chin.
Yep.
Yep.
But I got to kick out of having something to listen to other than local talk because it was getting tiresome.
Because God knows you're not hearing any music in the morning.
Forget about it.
No.
Locally you're not hearing any any music in the morning.
I'll put it over under at three songs an hour.
Yeah.
If you're lucky.
But see, I like to listen to Bob and Tom and I know that's all talks or I'm good with it.
Right.
You know.
And I don't even get to listen to them live.
I don't listen to it on the podcast, which Bob and Tom can begin on the webbaster and get that up a little quicker.
Before noon central, please.
I'd be nice.
Because he's back in the old website.
Before they changed their website just a little over a year ago.
They would put everything up hour by hour.
So by 715, I'd have hour one ready for me.
Now they put it all up at one time and I don't get it until noon central.
That's kind of stupid.
And it's a solid two hours and 45 minutes to listen to everything.
Except for the bonus hour, which I don't because it's just greatest bits from the day before.
But I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
This is your topic.
But no.
But you were in the middle of the story.
No.
Just singing the praises of what really won me over was just having.
So having variety that you certainly didn't have a terrestrial radio.
And you don't get inundated with ads like you do on terrestrial radio either.
The decades channels alone is what really sold me.
And that was what sold me as well.
For me, it turned into a thing when I was traveling for a living.
Sorry if you guys got just a bolt of sound there.
There was a setting on my mixing board that wasn't right.
For me, it was what I was traveling for a living.
And I would travel to these cities.
I don't want to have to sort through your your town's radio to find the music I like.
So I would always ask the rental car companies to give me a rental car.
That had serious excitement.
Now sometimes they would screw it up.
I don't want to mention any cities.
Great junction Colorado.
But especially if I was going to somewhere I had to drive like it was Arkansas or Oklahoma or something of itself.
That's definitely going to be in my favor.
So that's what really kind of got me hooked on it.
And I didn't want to do it for my old car because you had to buy a whole separate module for it.
And it was like 150 bucks in blah blah blah.
But when I got the car that I have now and I got silver.
It was the thing that I could that was already built in.
So that's the guy.
I'll do this.
And it was cool for a while.
And when Jen and I go on road trips.
Sometimes we'll put it on there.
But more often than not we're listening to my iPod or we're listening to a podcast.
And I just I don't know.
I feel like if I cancel it I'm going to regret it.
I think but I but I don't use it that much.
Like if for a little while I did the online thing at work.
But even there if you do because I don't if you've ever mess with the with the serious XM online.
You're like four hours behind.
Yeah.
Which to me I'm like no I just want to hear what's going on right now.
Like I want to be able to get on my car get to the office and just pick up where I left off.
You have that feature still on the online.
For the my my actually.
Where you can actually sort the genre about like I want more early 80s or I want more late 80s.
I mean literally customizes the channel but it's only the online version of the channel.
And it's not every channel.
Yeah.
It's only a handful.
Yeah.
It's a select few.
Which is a cool feature.
But I just I don't know but I I've really as I've gone through the channels like that.
There's nothing that I would want more strength up.
Like if I want 80s I want 80s.
You know.
I.
But like I said I feel like if I cancel it then I'm it's I'm going to regret canceling it.
But I don't use it enough to not you know it's weird.
Well, do you have the top of the line package?
Oh yeah.
Yeah, then maybe trim it down a little bit.
I mean I but it's not like expensive enough for it to matter that much to me.
It that makes sense.
I think it's a nice little security blanket.
It's nice to know that it's there if you want it.
And it's not like it's it's cost in an arm and a leg.
Yeah.
I think I think you'd regret it if you cut it off.
Because I've got it for Jen's cartoon.
I don't think she uses it all really.
I don't think she does.
She used it for the traffic for a while.
But.
Isn't this 2015.
Have you.
Do you listen to their debut?
There's another traffic at all.
It sounds like someone.
Welcome to the Dallas Fort Worth traffic part today.
And then we have to share with somebody.
635 going left.
That's exactly how it says.
Yeah.
He used it in Phoenix.
Yeah.
It's on the 11's or something.
It's on the ones.
Yeah.
It's on the ones.
Then Houston's on the forest Phoenix is on the seven.
And it's almost in bearable.
It sounds like somebody is holding up a phone to a real audio stream.
And the NFL used to be that bad too.
Now I've had to listen to a couple of NFL games as we've been doing some prison
ministry, which we'll be doing here in a couple of weeks with Grace D.
But and that's gotten a lot better.
The only problem is you used to be able to pick which feed you listen to.
And you only get the home team feed, which really gets kind of wheels off.
Because some of the some of the local raw gas or you're just like.
And the homerism can be really not just the homerism.
But you're showing me stuff that are telling me about something.
Fans get to your local Dave's grocery this week and pick up your black and ears.
Like, no, I can't.
I live in Texas.
They're telling you what they're given.
The kids next week's game and stuff like that.
It's the, you know, they're probably what Babel had night in his doing ads for the.
For the Nabisco communion wafer's.
You know, one of the greatest bits of all time.
I don't care who you are.
One of the greatest bits of all time is dancing Paul in the first baseball game.
I could listen to that every day.
The horse of Babel on sports bar of the bar.
Tage like piss.
It's because it is.
That's how.
I'm just genius.
I have to play that.
You want to.
If we do that.
Rustus his dad listens to the escape channel.
I'm not sure.
Is that all the Pina Colotta song or just I want to journey album?
I wonder if that's kind of like no, because I think that channel's still watercolors.
The one that's like.
And the one channel that you and I really enjoyed that they killed was the one that was all movie scores.
Cinematic.
Yes.
Yeah, that really earned me.
I just, I don't know.
I mean, again, I feel like I'm going to regret it if I cancel it.
But I don't use it enough to not.
You know, I'm just trying to make it a conscious effort to use it a little more often.
But I don't know how you'd be able to do that.
My only thing with it is my ADD kicks in real bad.
And I'm just click, click, click, click, click.
Or as, as, who was it was it?
Was it Richard?
Jenny.
A Richard or Jeff Altman that said, you come and you have the attention span of a new.
Click.
Click, click, click.
Well, I'm going to get with Altman.
And that would be enough reason.
I would think you to keep it because of all the comedy channels.
I don't think you really liked it.
I don't think.
Here's my first page of favorites on on my exam.
channel, 80s channel, 90s channel, odds channel, backspin, and the Christian, the Christian
contemporary channel. That's my first page. And I don't really do the comedy channels as
much because I got enough of that in my iPod number one. Number two, I listen to three
hours of Bob and Tom anyway, so I get my fill. Yeah. So, but I do like having the sports
channel, especially in football season. If I'm on the road, I do like that backspin channel.
Backspin's greatness. When is he old school R&B channel called it? Because it has
a change names a couple of times. I don't know how far I don't find it. I did hear something
interesting on backspin the other day. They had Kwame on, but he had love. He didn't know
he wrote the wraps for poison. For Bellbiff Devote. Oh, really? He said he said Michael
Bivins brought him the demo version of poison. And he was like, I need to add something
to it. And Kwame was like, I'll throw something on there, but I just don't know that this
song's gonna be that great. He was little did I know that that made me get a piece of it.
Uh, don't just join this. I don't know. I'm assuming Russ says that the escape channel is
the easy listening. And then Russ says he enjoys a southern gospel channel. I mean, there's
literally something for everybody. Don't get me wrong. So, I mean, we'll keep an eye on it,
see where it goes. And I just can't imagine you cutting that. Because I can tell you, I don't
listen to the news channels. No, you know, everyone's a mile. You'll catch me on her nation
or something of its ilk. Some of the classic, the classic rock channel. You're not a fan of
potis. I am not. I will do my own impersonation of the president. That's the best I got. It
kills me that they started that channel around the election. And they just kept it. I thought it
was just going to be a temporary thing. But no, it's still around. Well, elections come around
again. He wrote soon. Yeah. So get ready for that. All right. Let's move on. Do some music talk.
And you know, when we like a song, we like to promote it. Number one for a six week in a row,
sir. I'm worrying that everybody's about to reach critical mass with this song, though. Because
it's on every. But this is why I don't listen to radio. No, I like a song. No, no, no,
no, I'm not talking about radio. I get it's showing up in YouTube videos and things of
itself. If they're using it in the promos for the voice, they're just, I fast work commercials.
They're going to make everybody sick of it. Come on. But you know what? Number one six week
in a row, it just goes to show that there is still great music that can be made in this day and age.
That's all I'm saying. And I really feel like Ronson isn't getting enough credit. Because this
is a Mark Ronson song featuring brutal. Right. Not the other way. But it's a lot like when Quincy
out Quincy Joe says an album. You know what I mean? It's a Quincy Jones album, but everybody else
sings on it. And then Ronson's kind of the same way that, you know, he writes this stuff. He produces
the stuff. But the the focus is not on him. Yeah. You know, it's on the people out there.
I just like that he's not like temperal. It gets his voice all over the dead. You know what? We got
through TD talk. I didn't talk about tonight being SNL 40. Oh, wow. Right now we're in the middle of
the red carpet special. We're going to watch it as soon as we get off there. We got the DVR rolling. So we're
good there. Entering an intruder. Yeah. Yeah. That. Interesting news from a stone's guitarist Ronnie
Wood. Stones going back out in the road this summer. Again. I don't know how they keep doing this.
I just, you know what? I would go. I've never seen the stones live. And I don't care how old I am.
If they're still out there getting it done and somebody gives me a ticket, I'm there.
How old they are. If they can still do it, you can do it once. I mean, well, I'm not, I can't
pay for them. They're too expensive. They'll kid. No, Charlotte texted me this morning said
aerosomists play that a casino up the road in April. And a pair of cheap seats are $520.
But again, my logic there was that music venue holds 5500 people. You know what I mean? So they're
going to have to triple the prices. Because you have tripled in that American Airlines.
Isn't saying. And I guarantee you there appearance for you ain't going down. No.
Your retro tour this year, though. Handlighting your big retro classic rock tour these boys.
You always up for some death leopard. Never seen them lie. I saw them on the
hysteria to had one opportunity. They were in Fort Worth and friend of the show Lonnie Hart called me
and said I got a couple extra tickets. And it was Jen's birthday weekend and she didn't want to go.
Still hold onto that. Definitely to go. But also touring with death leopard on this tour.
I can hear this on and I think of that 70 show. Because they didn't episode where they were
going to go see these guys and form and it was singing this song.
Sticks. So they've managed to bend their fences.
Well, whatever this version of sticks is, we don't know what I don't think Dennis de Young
is touring with them. Let me look into that. And then these guys.
No, this is not Zeppelin. I was here at the beginning of this and I think of Zeppelin.
The Tesla. And you and I talked about this at lunch today and you kind of,
you kind of scoffed a little bit. I was like, no, they're still out there getting it done.
They just released a new album like last year.
I don't care who you are. This is great song. You know the intro this is like an hour and a half long.
So it's like a week-low song. Well, the full song is 522.
So come and do it to an outdoor venue. I'm sure it near you.
But it's a summer tour.
Russ says there is a tour right now. Dennis de Young and the music of sticks. So I can pretty much guarantee
you he's not too okay. Who are they using for a lead singer? I think Tommy Shaw's doing a lot of it
because when they got rid of him, it's not like they replace him as a lead singer. Somebody else
just took over the vocals. I'm pretty sure.
Don, you'll be happy to know that Russ was kind of keeping us on track before you got in.
Yeah, we called him to left you all. You're getting here. So I want sticksworld.com.
That's that is a thing. There's just a world of sticks. Like you guys have trees and stuff.
Moving on. So Kanye West is working with an artist on a new record. You're ready for this?
Has there been a more unholy union?
Then Will Smith and Kanye West. Everyone we, oh by the way, that show is going to be playing locally
in a couple of weeks. Also it's not just a summer tour then. It says, well, sticks is going to be
Billy Bob's a fort worth. That's just going to be sticks. That's not going to be the whole trip.
That's going to be a February 28. Billy Bob's. Yep. Wow.
Look at that. Prada. Back with a lot of stuff and give it to your friend. Let's spend
did that right off the top of my head, sir. And did not need the lyrics. It'll be at the jacksaw
August 21st. Okay. So it's definitely a summer tour. That'll be a pleasant day out in outdoors and
Dallas playing the next nine in spring Texas at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. That's a big deal.
That's just north of Houston. That's a big deal, Pavilion.
And and Del Val Texas at Austin 360 the next nine August 23rd. Don't want some of the new Kanye
is going to be called Beyonce is the best I need to interrupt back. Boy, after that happened the
internet exploded, didn't it? Uh huh. Back 12 albums placed all instruments himself.
Beyonce can't do one album without four other songwriters. Place no instruments.
But they're talking about the Beyonce and the Jay-Z talking about doing an actual album together
for later this year. That's no shock. I'm surprised it hadn't happened already.
Next Sunday, of course, the Oscars. There's way too much going on next Sunday. Also next Sunday
is Daytona. So we'll have your first true NASCAR report of the year in two weeks.
But Lady Gaga is going to perform at the Oscars next week. It's going to be a tribute, but they're
not saying, well, I don't know if she's just doing the in memorian segment. But they said she's
going to be doing a tribute. That's all they're saying. Probably it's probably going to be the
website. I've said it. She's got talent. She's got a ton of talent. She doesn't need the artsy
bit. That's my whole thing with her. Now, and she's a beautiful girl. She was she looked amazing
at the Grammys last week. She's okay with it. Beautiful. And the fact that she embraced this
Tony Bennett thing just makes her that much more awesome. Because you know, he likes things that
are great. Love it when Alec Baldwin does him. I freaked out when I found out who she was dating.
Kind of like the, um, the dude from Chicago fire that looks a lot like Blake Shelton.
I got a bunch of nothing. I can't. And I watched that show all the time. Could tell you the guy's name.
And they're real, they're real hush, hush about their work. So as I told you this morning,
hypocrite award of the day goes to Johnny Depp. A couple weeks ago, Johnny Depp doesn't
interview where he says, you know, I don't, uh, I don't believe in actors that want to be musicians.
It just doesn't translate to hell. Why are you making him sound like? Because I thought he talks
now. You making him sound like Madonna in the mid nineties where she thought she was British. He's
not like the Chris Cortane. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
but all of a sudden, now he's in a band. With Joe Perry from Arrow Smith and Alice Cooper called the Hollywood
Vampires. Allegedly, they've recorded an album. And they're going to be playing a rock in
real this year. The same nineties queens of the Stone Age and system of a down.
The question is not how they get that spot because they've got influence, but still really
uh, Russ says that Tommy Shaw did play with the M. Yankees with Ted Newt. He also did a thing called
Shaw Blades, which was like a side project, too. Also this gives me an excuse to put a gobo song in
the show. It makes me happy. So, I mean, there's that. If you're interested in that kind of
a thing, Joe Perry, you just stay with your Smith. Stay with your Smith. That's your bit.
Alice Cooper? Golf course. That's your bit. I like Alice Cooper. Don't get me wrong.
But my wife is an Alice Cooper fan, which is really freaking neat. This bit. Music new releases in places
you get music new releases this week. It is not a reunion by these boys, but Colin Hey releases
another solo out in this week called Next Year People. Maybe that's when the minute work
reunion is going to happen. I don't know. But I like Colin Hey. I think he's a great songwriter.
He's got a great voice. Even though he's got that wonky eye thing going. You know,
he's checking out groupies on both sides of the arena. I don't know what's going on there,
but then on birds and squirrels at the same time. But he's also on a big tour with
it's like him, Baranaked Ladies, and Smashmouth. Oh God. Because every year,
Baranaked Ladies does the last summer on Earth tour. And that's whose tour with him this year.
You know what's scary? I just pulled out of the top of my head after reading it like a week ago.
He's got, he's got still all those legal finds, or a little, those legal bills to pay
after getting his butt kitchen at lawsuit, which I still think is absurd. How are you going to
sue those? How are you going to sue that man? Everybody can make money after that song. It's been
out 30 plus years. I'll also bring you out from this girl. This is Young Lady who has been kind of quiet
for a few years. It's still releases true romance. I do like this song. This is the remix though
of American boy. I do like this song. That's my thing with Kanye. He really does have good lyrics.
I just can't stand him. You know, I can't even look at him. Imagine dragons very popular with
the kids, who used to their brand new album Smoking Mirror this week. Remember this band with
a solo project coming out this week, Kate Pearson, releases Gittars and microphones. Clever.
Hi, Jess. She was the key person to the red head, right? She wasn't the blonde.
Couldn't tell you. I didn't think he was a thing. I don't know. Don't care enough.
I see what this stuff real quick. Because this is actually a B52 song that I enjoy.
Because you don't hear this guy. He's being all over the track. The Fred something was his reaction.
It's to hand him.
Oh god. You know how I feel about that song.
Number one most overdone karaoke song in history. I like this song though. Yeah, Kate Pearson was the red head.
She's 66.
Rust says that Nickelback told me to to check on April the 3rd. That's say, is that a Friday?
29, 30, 31. That's a Friday. I like seeing them outdoors. Because the one time I saw them indoors,
it wasn't as much fun because their pyro can't do as much. You know, because you go for the pyro.
Also, this guy, the song that this guy, the song that is about this guy, has a new album Steve
Earl and the dukes and the Dutchesses. Tara Plane is the name of it. T-E-R-R-A play. So was that
Triple H's playing from the 90s? Oh god. You're welcome. Let's not revisit that.
All right, so the Julianna had failed three. The only song I have by them. I really can't play.
They run their reality bite soundtrack. They release whatever my love and the mavericks are back
with an album called Monos. Yeah, they got a better record than the liquor. No, the band.
Oh, okay. Basketball team. The band there where the lead singer used to be married to Trisha Yearwood.
Until she decided Garza Brooks was a better option. So there's that smart career.
Let's get to a little hockey talk, shall we? Yeah, it's killed as long as it is possible.
No real headlines for the NHL this week. We're going to write into stannies in the Eastern
Conference of Atlantic Division. The Buffalo Subways. They have 35 points. They're 41 points out of
first place. Oh, I'm sure you're crying for that. They are 16 points behind Toronto.
Toronto is three points behind Otorwap. Otorwap is five points behind my beloved Florida
Panthers who are four behind the beloved Boston Bruins of John Anderson. Detroit is three points ahead
of Boston, but they are two points behind my beloved Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning are two
points behind Montreal. So the Canadian's have taken first place in that division.
In the most remote division. The Carolina Hurricanes got it right. They have
graduated. They have 45 points. They're 30 out of first one piece right now.
Remember when they were in the Stanley Cup finals few years ago? Not really. They were.
They were. They are six points behind New Jersey, which I'm sure makes me happy. By the way,
the Devils have lost four straight. So I'm sure Chad, you will be happy with that. Yeah, yeah,
I'm again crushed. They are tied with Columbus. Columbus is the narrow both five points behind
the Philadelphia Flyers, who are 12 points behind the Washington capitals.
Washington is three points behind the Rangers. The Rangers two behind Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh,
two behind the Islanders, who by the way, the Islanders of one foreign row.
In the Western Conference Pacific Division, because they're all close to the Pacific Ocean.
This is the Mish. The Mish and Oilers have 41 points. They are 36 points out of first place.
They are six points behind the air. I almost said phoenix caught the Arizona coyotes.
Why did they do that? Arizona. Oh my god. Here's a gap for you. Arizona's 15 points behind the
Kings. Right now. The Kings are three behind Calgary, who is tied with Vancouver. They are
both a point behind San Jose, but Amaheim and now has an 11 point lead over San Jose in that division.
And in the Central Division for a conference that has no Eastern or Western division.
The Colorado avalanche, who by the way beat up on your Dallas today, beat up on your Dallas.
Yes, they did. 57 points. They are 15 points out of first place. A much tighter race in this
particular division. They are three points behind your Dallas stars.
Dallas still playing well in the row. They're 14 11 and two on the road.
And the success of any team is can you win on the road? But as we know in hockey,
home nice doesn't really mean as much as it is. No, it's really four does another,
another sports. Dallas is three points behind Minnesota, Minnesota, five points behind the
Winnipeg Jets. Winnipeg is six points behind Chicago, who is two points behind St. Louis.
Nashville leads that division by six points over St. Louis. By the way, the Nashville predators
won have won a nickel in a row, sir. Really? Five in a row.
So there's that. Do you have any of your tech corner? Because I didn't see anything that really kind of
peaked my interest this week. Outside of Netherrealm studios confirming that Jade would not
be coming back from for the next Mortal Kombat. Is there a specific reason for that?
No. Well, other than the fact that they seem to really be trying to focus on this new generation
of fighters like Johnny Cage's daughter. Oh, really? Yeah. Cassie. Cassie.
Fight. Take a while guess who her mother is. Cassie. Sonny Blade. Oh. Or is it Sonny Blade? Sonny Blade.
There's just that one. That was one of my favorite parts about that game. Oh, you know,
yeah, I do have something. So you've been bugging me about downloading Killer Ins thing
from my Xbox One. I've done it and I'm going through the tutorials and I can't pass the
punch tutorial because it's acting asking me to do all three punches and I can't figure out
how to do the third punch. Because only I have four buttons to her punch to her kick.
So I don't know if it's thinking I've got an arcade style joystick and I've tried every button
on that stupid controller and I can't get the third punch in there to pass this level of the
training. Well, I will look into that because it says red button but the red button is the kick button.
Okay, that's weird. I'm not kidding you. It's driving me insane. Let's see here's the problem.
Download for free. Yeah, but you've got to pay for everything. Yeah, okay. I hate that. It looks great.
It looks gorgeous. I don't know what you're going to do with it. I'll we'll look into it. I'll
get like the walkthrough or something further tutorial. I was like what the crap.
And very much enjoying the Tetris. I think it's built more for multiple multiplayer than it is for
I was we were playing you don't know Jack on the Xbox 360 the other day when when my daughter see that
game is no fun by yourself at all. No, there was four people four of us playing it. I forgot how
awesomely fun that game is. We ought to see if there's a version of it for the they need to do an updated
version of the ride. Because for me, that's the best you don't know Jack game of all time. Yeah,
I doubt that's I could remember one time I was actually trying to type my name in it would only do ours.
So I hit I hit the energy goes oh
And it's only happened once but I was up by like $20,000 and
Nobody answered the time right out and cookie goes dude. You're so far ahead. We're gonna make you answer to said don't be a
Make me answer I was like you suck dude
That game is so clever smarter than it has still I had one where I was playing it on May the or June the 16th
It went happy flag day. So make sure you buy something for your person that celebrates flag day
That game was so intuitive like I was you know I was playing it all night when I mean maybe
It's this late on a Friday night and you're playing this so you don't have a life
That's messed up how that game has not had more staying power. I will never know
I don't because that game is
She yes, I mean it had a it had a very short lived
Television. Yeah, but they screwed that up. They screwed it. They did
They did they did good kids
God rest yourself
But
Again, I'm gonna have to look up look it up on the marketplace and see if there is an Xbox one version
Remember for download there is there is definitely got that party pack thing too
Where you get that in life swatters and everything that's but it's like 30 bucks
That's if you buy the party pack you ought to just get jackbats. I had some it's like 20. I'll I'll look it to it
But one of one of my favorites one of my favorites of all time
Especially when you come up with
Some of the categories they come up with and some of the mini games that they play on the version I've got on here
Where you get the wrong answer of the day and it gives you like $8,000
But you have to find it. Yeah, and when when I bought the ride like I tried to put it in the way like a computer
I have now and the screens like tiny
Because because the the graphics engine back then was so much more basic
But at highest resolution you can send it at 640
But it comes with a CD of all the commercials so they're all in my and those iPod too those are brilliant
But yeah, it's that's show even from the very first incarnation of that what was that like 95-96?
I was working at an incredible universe it could have been later than 90 said like move the movies edition came out in 97
Yeah, if that tells you anything they did a whole bunch of different ones too

Keep in it, Brazil. She's keeping it hungry. I'm a percent real
She does
Let us now combine both of our worlds as we talk a little professional wrestling you're third
Hall of Fame class member of this year was announced. Did you see who it was Chad? Yes, I did
Too early too late on time for Rikishi
I don't know it just it just seems kind of odd but it it makes a little bit stint little
As since since his guys since his kids are in the freaking bed. I thought it was like who's good to induct him? Who else?
What inducted? Was there was that actually a question? I saw a headline on a wrestling site that said that's like really
Who do you think's gonna induct him? It ain't gonna be too cool. I can tell you that
I think it might be a little early
I mean, I'm not doubting that he's a Hall of Fame or don't get me wrong
That you know fuck two did make a difference
But I just I think this might be a little early to induct him in the Hall of Fame
Maybe a couple three years
But there are rumors flying all over the place of who it's going to be
Whether they're going to announce tomorrow night on raw. I've heard rumors of
The guy that Pat Patterson had the tag team titles with for years
But I've also heard Zabisco
That's gonna get interesting
Is does anybody even communicate with that guy anymore? He's all over the network. Is he? Is he?
You watch that Monday night wars? He's all over that
But I don't think Zabisco was ever in a WWE ring was he?
I may be wrong here, but I thought he was a lifetime NWA WAWA guy
He's a live-in legend don't get me wrong well, but since events owns everything I guess it really doesn't matter
Yeah, but what I'm gonna talk about on this show is it that's the case thing would be in by now
Vince doesn't like to put guys in that never worked for him
Or his dad or his grandfather
The only exception to me
That Vince will make is a WA
But it's just it's weird to me. I don't know
Anything to get Zabisco in there. I don't care what it takes. Just get him in there tomorrow night on raw
We will be allowed to testify if you wheel
Dusty will be on raw tomorrow night to try to set this this situation between
Codian and Dustin straight
Because the angle right now is that Cody's pretty much lost his mind and Dustin called and Codian Cody slapped him across the face and said don't ever call me that again
Oh geez, so
Hey, you know, I'm on for any excuse to have the the American dream that the roads
Some of a plumber from often tech this with done with kings and queens and slip the knowledge and done on poking beans
The tower of the man of the hour the tower of power
Even though he stole that from superstar Billy Graham and live most of his life at Garland. Yeah, but did he really?
Yep, I was no aware of that
Yeah, it's because I got like like 90 things for a good night, so as long as nothing gets dropped. No, I've already checked
Okay, I've already checked she's had to get a walking dead later on on the night because there's so much because I'm not
Gonna lose
Tonight's family guy
And cyclopedia Griffin that's all I'm sweet
But we also read as we were getting ready to do the show
We always like to check for last minute headlines before we start you know I am a fan of podcast
Yes, but do I need this podcast
This this fright
Do I need a podcast from the kiff stealing wheel and dealing jet flying live as in riding
Do I need the Rick Flair show
Flair is a great guest. Don't get me wrong
Because it's time to have heard him on Austin's podcast absolutely brilliant. I just can't say I'm driving the
Yeah, I just don't know that I can see him driving the bus now. That's steering the ship
I just I don't know. I mean, I hope I'm wrong because he's signed to deal with CBS sports
And
That's not one you really want to screw up no
But we'll see
He's on the same podcast network as taz right now
Taz is like this episode was with gale Kim I've heard good things about it. I just I have too many podcasts. I see you
Taz new
He should be in but you've got a lot of ECW original set rp
Really wasn't guy that I think deserves to be in that I don't think I'll ever get in and I understand why is Douglas
Shane Douglas has done a lot in this business, but Shane Douglas can't get out of Shane Douglas's own way
He's done a lot to tick a lot of people off too
But he was the original ECW champion if you remember he's the one to threw the NWA title in the garbage and became the ECW champion
I just I don't know
Kind of wish they'd make good with
With Sid
After what he had to go through that God by far the process that I've ever seen on television
That will be with me until I pet Sheffel from this mortal coil. I'd stay with me then. Let's talk about raw
So
Cena comes out during a lana ruseb segment
And I'm just wondering if Jericho can claim gimmick in infringement for Cena telling them to shut the hell up
Because it wasn't that kind of the thing that Jericho was known for yeah, yeah, and
And
This eye injury is legit, but it's not as bad as they're making it out to be on television because he's working in the the Abu Dhabi tour
They're on right now
And you cut, how do you heard now? That's kind of divided the locker room a little bit this tour?
Huh, apparently they have very very strict laws against
Homosexuals and daring young's like I ain't going
And he's he's voicing his disdain against the company and people like X-Pocker taking his side
But Cena's on the tour over there. So they're saying it's it is legit, but it's not as bad as everybody's saying it is
Also, you know what this triple H thing thing's gonna be fun. Did you see this footage from Monday night? No
So I got it described this to you so
H comes with a ring basically says, you know, I carry this company on my back for 13 years and sting did nothing and
He just stay with WCW and now he wants to come in here and act like he wants to do something
I need an answer sting and I need it right now kill the lights
And remember the beginning of the Michael Jackson Super Bowl half time where he was show up in different corners of the stadium
They did this with sting with sting look alike lights go out
Tron lights up and it's one of H's Wednesday meetings with
That he does on wb.com. We're just the interviews every Wednesday
And as he's talking about sting they start super imposing the black part of his makeup on H's face
It's cutting it and cutting out and then you see just this white screen with with this like
Looks like trees that have lost their leaves for the winner
And then the the the branches morph into the triple H skull logo
Then morph into stings face and it says I accept and then then cut back to the ring and another sting
Look alike stand right behind H who sells it brilliantly by hitting the ground and back
Scooting back on the on the mat. This is gonna be fun
That was well we get off air. I want you to see if you can look that footage up okay from Monday night
It was a brilliant segment and you don't use me here. Me use the word brilliant and WWE creative very often now
This because I was when I first heard that this was the plan. I was kind of like oh
But now I'm totally in totally in now
And remember he still hasn't said a word
That's right. He hasn't has he
But it was a neat segment. I really really really enjoyed that
And I'm in my living room going hey, this is I'm intrigued by this storyline
You were marking out like I was I was marking out like a school girl
And you know what you don't have realized is we need to have more matches that finish without finishing moves
I'd be good with that because that way sometimes you can have a match that you don't see the end coming
You know you hit the rock bottom you know to over and hooking hits the leg. You know I want more
And what you're making sure working with rock well, there's that but I want more matches that end without finishing moves
You know, maybe you hit a northern light suit flex or maybe you hit y'all you can hit a high spot
But it doesn't have to be your finisher
It's all I'm saying
We're gonna get into some some smack dead headlines as well
But NXT is expected to be a touring company by the end of the year
That's a triple HSA
And they had their latest paper view this past week NXT rivals
And it's a very interesting conundrum that exists between NXT and the main roster right now
Because all of these NXT guys want to go to the main roster
But the main roster guys are going why aren't we allowed to have matches like NXT has
Interesting it's it's a really interesting
And the answer is real simple
Because H is running NXT
I mean he is apparently from all accounts. He is doing a phenomenal job with NXT
Everybody loves him
That he's really giving these I mean they're even saying some of the divas matches in NXT are rivaling some of your main matches
In WWE like that's how much how good the quality of wrestling is
And apparently semi-zane is on the the Middle Eastern tour with the company right now
I read that this morning so that that
Boat well for us. I'm assuming I would love to see in NXT show
I love the overall production of the show
It's not like WWE light
They really it really has its own identity
Because WWE light would not be an entertaining product to put on the road
But I'm just saying since it's like the minor leagues you'd expect it to be like a smaller version
But it's it's really got its own identity the only problem they're having right now is
Some of the talents not translating over the ascension which I really thought that was gonna go better
I was really high on these guys and it I just it's like creative isn't what to do with them
Let them do what they do you know you've got Seth Rollins you got the ascension right you know
You got Paige you got Emma
It's it's just it's weird
You know you've got Dean Ambrose you've got Adam Rose
It's it's like for everyone guy that's done well. I can give you another one that has for every hit. There's a miss
But but they were all hits in NXT
Which is why they bring them up to the main roster so
I don't know
Oh, maybe they just are the same booking. Oh, so
Somebody's gets another
Meady role in Hollywood
But he's just gonna be the curtain
Huh in the Highland or reboot oh boy
The dudes get work. Yeah, but I just don't want Highlander to get reboot. I'm I'm
Reserving judgment
As long as I don't if you I'm a Spineard. I don't get that. I'm okay
But yeah, I heard this announced it. I was like really that's apparently high profile sir. Yeah, it is you're you've now gotten
Drax you've now gotten
Henshman in the next bond film for still of that came out the other day
Yeah, saw that
He's on top of the on top of the snow covered mountain where does goggles on and now he's got this
Good job on your Baptista. Yeah, so and again
I stand by I thought he did a great job in guardians
He well exceeded my expectations for him in guardians. He actually gave that character depth
Go back five years and tell and go and say you know what you're gonna say in five years
You're gonna say Baptista gave a character depth on a movie screen
I would punch you in the face because did you liar liar
Talk a little bit smack down real quick
What is it that everybody seems to see an art truth that I'm missing?
I didn't know people saw anything an art truth dude. He had that crown upon his hand
Thursday night
And he's still doing the womb there. It is thing
I
Do there's people in that arena whose parents weren't even born when that came out
God
Think about it this stuff's a better part of 20 years old
Just saying
Maybe's having babies. I don't understand his bit. I don't understand the appeal of his bit his his bit is completely out of date
He's a heck of a wrestler
The guys he's got he's he can go. I just hate this gimmick just keep that mic out of his hand
Didn't like it when he was cake quick. Don't like it. Damn
But they're saying they're talking about wanting him to be a trainer in NXT which I'm absolutely on board with
He's got a great arsenal of moves, but it just
His gimmick has never worked for me in any any form you want TNA if you want to train wrestlers wrestler wrestle cool
Don't know how to rap
That's John Cena's job
Are we trying to turn the bellows into the beautiful people? I think so and it's not working for me
Brebella as a heel does nothing
It's just like you went from your sister treating you like poop on the bottom of her shoe for a month and now all of a sudden
You're now her disciple
Yeah, I'm not buying it. I just
Maybe that would be a wrestle mania thing where we get the turn at wrestling the turn back at wrestle mania
Remember we're tired of having our intelligence and salted according to events. That's right
So we'll just keep on and I continue to be yeah
So they at the beginning of the show they mentioned there's gonna be a tag team turmoil match with eight different teams
That match took the entire second hour so
Really the entire second hour was this match and it was one of those where it was
Basically it was a gauntlet match
Was it was it entertaining at all it had some decent spots Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns went through the whole thing
It's it's weird that dynamic they're working between them. It's just I don't know
It's like we're trying to figure out who's gonna work face and who's gonna work heel next Sunday
I like neither one of them has to just let him wrestle
If you're gonna turn one of them do it after the paper view if you're gonna set up a triple foot at me
And then they at the ascensions involved and they get de-cute for using their own finishing move
Which made absolutely no sense and then I realized I'm dealing with wrestling logic and it still didn't make sense
That's that's lame and here's a fact for you
On his knees can is still almost as tall as Daniel Bryan
Really
Don says he just did a quick catch up on total divas
He wise he's watched four episodes and it just keeps getting worse
Dude, how did you not know that going in
You're you're you're bar for that should have been subterranean and it still wouldn't have met expectations
That show
Looks more scripted than hooking those bested and I didn't think something could get worse
Oh so bad
And then Daniel Bryan DDT's Frenchy
In this match and my thought was I was waiting for him to look at the look at the camera and pull the old bugs
But he aligned of I know this to lies the laws of physics, but I never studied law
You DDT Frenchy really
Not without a freaking
Forklift you didn't or a stick a dynamite to strap it with feet
H is a good like I just
Like it didn't
If I couldn't ram a stereo Kirk and Ron at him or match it's just like
I
Just don't say anymore
Just stop trying to figure it out could you're never going to it's just gonna it's just gonna give you
Just gonna make your brain hurt
I just don't
Don't get it
Just talk about it back to move on
So they're on the UK tour right now
And the the announced booths which I say with air quotes
Looks different so are you trying to make me believe that they're on the UK tour too?
We know they're in Nashville
Leave it be
And they've got to skype the British boot kick remember I told you last week
It's your winner of British boot camp season two was
Mandru's which I'm very uncomfortable saying
That's his name and he's about the same size as spud but they have his other guy in grotto who apparently is
They're in glass gal and so he's there with them
And al snow is doing an angle with him because al snow was one of the with a trainers this guy looks like a poor man's patanos wall
Look him up g r a d o look it up so there's a there's a rich man's patanos wall
That's patanos well was pretty much the poor man's patanos wall
Don says he's actually trying to benefit of milk slash he's enjoys
He got he got all but the piniotta flavor. It's called horchata sir. No, it's horchata piniotta
It is called horchata piniotta
Horchata piniotta
Horchata piniotta
Which which really it hurts me that we can't find it because that's just that's just epic freaking
podcast material in the making
And
During this match where
It was a it was a handy cat match
It was Jeremy Borash manjrews and and
Spud versus
Brodus and EC3
EC3 go the go in
Spud was like don't worry I got back up and they're like you got back up
EC3 didn't get friends here
EC3 is about to
to shave spikes hair
Lights go out
Lights come back up
EC3 and tyrants are facing the entrance way and Anderson's they ended in between them like yeah guys
Let's get them let's see and they look at him he's like oh and he just started beating him up
I was like you know what that come home can't understand
The light is on come home
No one ever listens to you whenever you tell them the lights on
God
They're wasting his talent
Have you have you found him yet no okay
But that Anderson return was funny. I enjoyed that very much
Smell his name from me again g r a d o
Okay
And like his mom was like and this this thing with Al snow Jim was actually watching impact with me on Friday night
And she's like who's that old guy?
I go I'm funny that's Al snow
I mean she goes what
All right, yeah
He's he I wouldn't jump down says he's aging. I wouldn't say he's aging real bad
But always remember kids father time is undefeated if Patton Oswald and Santino Morella had it, but but you see yeah, but you see yeah
Let's just move on to some music or movie talk shall we says the clown prince of Scottish wrestling
Maybe that maybe you're right
Yeah, cuz those and said you know the clown friends of wrestling
All right
Box office numbers dropping out on the top 10 this week. We have two films black or white the Kevin Costner vehicle drops from 9 to 11 with another 2.6 million dollars
It made the 17.3 on a 9 million dollar budget and I really don't think you can use the rule of 50 here because I didn't see a lot of promotion for this film
It was pretty heavily advertised
But he I guarantee he probably had some help with that. Yeah, since Costner put up all the money and dropping from 10 to 12 is the boy next door
It couldn't have fallen fast enough
1.8 million dollars four weeks
33.8 million dollars that was a four million dollar budget
That was four million well spent yeah, wasn't
10 place falling from five to 10 is project Almanac this week 2.7 million dollars three weeks
19.6 million dollars 12 million dollar budget this one I think you can put the rule of 50 on
Because this has been advertised for the better part of a year. I've been seeing trailers and
It was used to be called what didn't they call it didn't it used to be called welcome to tomorrow
Wasn't the name there because the project Almanac was not always the the title for that film
I'm not sure and it looks like they added a bunch of stuff to it to try to make it more appealing to the kids with the clothes in the hair
They probably had to flesh it out a little bit
9th place dropping from 7 this week is the wedding ringer a 3.4 million dollars for a five week total of 59.7 million dollars
23 million dollar budget on that
The imitation game stays steady at eight
Another 3.5 million dollars 12 weeks 79.7 million dollars. I don't have the budget on it
It's got to be event. It's got to make money. Oh, yeah, because this is another one that really wasn't advertised at heavy outside of trailers
And boys it could yes, it is very much enjoyed that pattington drops from six to seven this week four point two million dollars
five weeks
62.3 million dollars pattington had a 55 million dollar budget all the seed you work
But when you see it you're gonna be like this is 55. I would I would have picked it at double bat
It's that good
7th son drops from four to six this week four point two million dollars two weeks 13.4 million
You want to yes the budget here. It's I know it's ridiculous 95 a million dollars a certain
Yuck
Jupiter ascending drops from the bronze metal to fifth place this week
9.4 million dollars holy god
Two weeks
32.6 million dollars
Budget was 176. I read an article that the Wachowski's made no longer get the green light for any of these big budget
Features that they keep wine to foist on people that this may have completely gutted them and I kind of feel bad especially for the cast in this
I just I don't know just it just seems like it's a waste of talent at this point
American sniper which I finally saw
drops from the silver metal to fourth place this week
16.4 million dollars eight weeks three hundred and four point one million dollars on a 58 million dollar budget good
What what a lot of the trivia on that last night too. Maybe there's a lot of pressure on those guys
They can this film oh yeah
In the bronze metal position this week dropping from the gold metal the sponge Bob movie sponge out of water another 30.5 million dollars two weeks
93.7 million dollars 74 million dollar budget
That sponge Bob still a force to be reckoned with I thought that the
It had passed its shelf life. I didn't think it was and this thing looks like I've never watched that show
Like we talked about last week, but I would watch this because this looks fun. It does look kind of funny
And so your top two films for the weekend are both debuts G debuting in the silver metal position kingsmen the secret service
35.6 million dollars 81 million dollar budget
Want to know what I thought?
Subscribe on iTunes I will say this about that movie though and I don't care what this does to my man card
In some sharp suits Sam was wearing one when he showed up on on Fallon on Friday because that does there's a designer in England
That's doing a line of suits based on the movie
Yeah, you know you was pippin the suit whenever he walked out. He was talking to show the label on the inside just like from the Simpsons
I mean, I like that man. It's got to love that suit
And I really you said that to me whenever you call me the other now
I'm like how does that affect your man card status?
It's a suit just saying fashion
Don says project almond I can have three prior titles cinema one all-manac and welcome to yesterday
So yeah, welcome yesterday was a title. Okay, and winning the weekend
Totally predicted it but then again
Anyone with basic math skills could have said that 50 shades of gray wins the weekend
81.7 million dollars but here's my 40 million dollar budget, but here's my thing
It's okay here with a much of that was actually bought walking up to the box office on Friday
Versus how much were pre sails. Oh pre sails. How many records did it break in pre sails?
Two or three on fin. Yeah, so
you know what I mean like
I still think that you've got one more weekend
It will be out of the top ten in three weeks
I'll give it one extra week like next week. It'll do decent business following week
It'll drop below five after that. It's out of the top ten
I'm 24% on rotten tomatoes kids. I'm trying to see what's on the horizon maybe not next week
But the week after as to what we'll talk about here in a minute
Oh boy
And what is probably the biggest movie news of the month
Which is news we all knew was gonna happen
Yeah, Sony and Marvel have come to an agreement to have spider-man in the Marvel cinematic universe. Thank you guys
A lot of people are saying this is in the wake of a hacking scandal a lot of other people are saying look it just makes sense of role with it
His then spider-man three is going to actually bow July 28, 2017
Nah, but we're assuming that's what they're calling. I think they're just gonna reboot it all right
Which they're saying that Sony will still have control, but Marvel will have input which is just a really a way of saying
Marvel is gonna have control
He will appear in civil war, which you can't have civil war not have them involved. Oh, it's a possible sense
But there's been some release dates that have been shuffled around because of it
Four Ragnarok is actually going to replace black Panthers date of November 3rd, 2017
Black Panther actually moves up to July 6th, 2017 and then in humans is moving to summer of 2019
Which that's gonna be after the war, isn't it?
Because isn't that when in 2019 isn't infinity war 2018 in 2019
Or is it 17 and 18 I think it's 18 and 19 and I really still stand by my theory
I think they're gonna do the gauntlet on the animated Avengers series
Because Thanos is on it and they're dealing with the stones next week. Yeah, so
Disney wants Angelina's show lead to direct and possibly star in Captain Marvel
Direct I can roll with you. She is not that she's not Carol Danvers. I don't care what anybody wants to tell me
But that's actually been moved in November 2018
Did you ever think you'd see the day where we're talking this far ahead on movies? No, it just it it doesn't it doesn't seem
I will be a ladder 40 something white guy by the time this comes out
Don't remind me just saying don't try not to think of how old I'm gonna be whenever
Infinity war hits Joe Kiniman has replaced Tom Hardy as Rick Flag and Suicide Squad
Let's do anything for you who is this?
You know Joe Kiniman is now you know the name you're gonna make me look this up
Well, you brought it up. I figured you'd have it pulled up
Oh, do I not have my I'm deviata
Really
He was on the killing
He's we struggled cop
Oh, okay, they're really the reboot of robot correct
So he's he's gonna be Rick Flag. Oh, I could see it
I
Can roll with that and Gina Corrano local girl former MMA fighter
She is gonna be playing angel dust and deadpool
Good also involved TJ Miller who's a comedian who I'm a big fan of
He was in a big hero six. Yeah, he was in Cloverfield. He's one of the voices on a very funny man. How to train your dragon series
Hmm
He's your voice of the mucus blob on that has some numbers 50 shades of gray came in fourth all-time on pre-sales behind the last Harry Potter
Twilight new moon in the first hundred games 80% of Saturday sales were by couples
Wow, and it's also the biggest non-sequal sense the first hundred games from pre-sales. I do know that
Yeah
But Gina Corrano, you know I'm in yeah, so and apparently there is forward movement a friend of the show Derek Sutton put up a picture
That Ryan Reynolds posted of him sending what looks like it to make up shop with the the mask on a mannequin head
Did you see what stone posted about 50 shades? Apparently there was a book at a library. It's on it's some
Fox New York affiliate Fox five the headline reads 50 shades of gray book at library tested positive for her piece. Oh dear
That is unfortunate
This quote just says cannot stop laughing
So many questions Mr Wayne
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha h ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
about because it's part of the nature of the show, but we don't know the validity
technically of sources are reporting that JJ Abrams is asking Disney to move the
release date of episode 7 up, I don't think it's happening. I just I think you
may be too far gone to move it because you've got merchandising deals that are
in place that are probably set for specific dates that maybe some of these
merchandising partners don't have stuff ready for because I'm sure JJ is
holding on to it as long as he possibly can so nothing leaks. I think if this
thing was actually going to happen it would have been a bigger story by now.
I don't know. I'm just I'm trying to be patient that this would have been
mainstream media reporting by now is there Abrams listen to me now I'm
trying to be patient. You have gotten me more excited about a Star Wars
movie than I've been in about a decade and a half because I was excited about
episode 1 of getting just until about 20 minutes and no new episode of Rebels
tomorrow night. Very upset about this. You see the current one. With the with
grandma talking. Who doesn't voice great job. Yeah. I really do like that show
there. Disney's doing such a great job. I love that they've gotten these new
characters to come back and they've gotten everybody that they possibly could
to repeat their character performance because you know you had James Earl
Jones you had Frank Oz and you had Billy D Williams. Well he Williams looked weird
though. Well anybody in that animated animation style is going to look a little
odd. His eyes were like huge. He did kind of like a bubble head. I was like are you
the CBS logo? You're going to be driving the bus. So we have the big Cinderella
movie that comes out. Is it next month? Next April. They have announced that
it's going to get an I'm actually. Is this doing anything for you? I've seen the
trailer and I'm like. I'm mildly curious. I put it that way. I know that we
read before the show that Disney is talking to Emma Thompson about playing. Um,
I lost the character's name spots. Mrs. Pots in their beauty and the beast
thing. My question is why can't you just get into a landscaping? Why do we need to
do it? Is the question? While they're doing jungle book, they're doing super
people doing jungle book. They've already done Maleficent and Alice in Wonderland.
This is their bit. Maleficent wasn't an actual animated feature. It was the
character from one. I don't know. But I think it told a more interesting story of
sleeping beauty. They're not, they're not ever expected. So I haven't seen it. But I
got a lot of movies on the DVR to carry me through my vacation this week.
Very excited. I was surprisingly. I'm pleasantly surprised by my Maleficent. I
didn't think I was going to like it as much as I liked it. So I also mission
impossible five. It's also going to get a I'm actually released in July. That
didn't shock me. I don't know what to say right now. Warner Brothers is adapting
space invaders. Like it was enough for me in the 80s when my Atari games came
with a little mini comic books. Like I was okay with that. But really? And it's
going to look like a really cheap cash grab after pixels comes out since since
the space invaders are featured so prominently in one of the posters that
they released. Coming this summer. Defender really? Mr. Do the movie coming
your way. Mr. Do get ready for the big screen adaptation of Crystal
Castles. Now you want to make Jauston do a movie. Okay. I just
got a mighty. Didn't I see this when it was called Independence Day? When you
when you've seen any sci-fi invasion film ever. I'm going to say it publicly that
video game is the movie is terrible. That was really excited. I was too. I was
excited down last week. I'm like I'm going to watch this documentary. Very excited. It's
an hour 41 that feels like a day and a half. And it's not linear. It jumps around and
let's just go right by the Dreamcast. Right by it. That's a shame. You want a little
vision? Blow right by it. You want to blow right by the Saturn. You go right
ahead. But you give the Dreamcast a little bit of screen time. I was just like really.
That's I think that's that's going to be a list topic. Congratulations.
Benedict Cumberbatch has his wedding to Sophie Hunter yesterday. I thought that
got married already. Nope. Just got married yesterday. So congratulations to
those kids. Do of your best accurate nominees are newlyweds. Yeah.
Eddie remain in Benedict Cumberbatch. And in more happy news. Now the not so happy news
is that the breakfast club is turning 30. But it's going to get a theatrical release for
the 30th anniversary. So we're going to have is is is Bender going to encounter CG creatures
up in the up in the crawl space. But before you fall through this or we're going to have
future Ramacross. Breakfast club special edition. I'm in. I would love to go see this in
the theater again. Draft house. This has got draft house. But they do that will be
all the time. Yeah. But still, if you if you're going to go see this in a theater. What theater
would you have to do a quarter long exactly my point. Does seem kind of odd. Everybody gets
Captain Crunch sandwiches. And if you are under 40 Captain Crunch and Pixie sticks. And you have
never seen this film. What is wrong with you. Find your parents. Throw something at them.
Say we need to go watch this movie right now. It is one of the greatest films of the last 40
years. If you're under 40, you haven't seen this film. Just punch yourself in the face. If you're
over 40 over 10 punch yourself in a face. Because I got you talk about it. And why was this never
made into a stage production? This film was prime to be. I'm not saying the musical. Have any
of John uses films made in the stage productions though? I thought they did something with 16
candles on this. It's news to me. But this is what high school wouldn't want to do this as a part.
No kidding, you know. Moving your releases in places you see moving your releases in this week.
I don't. I'm out. Hot tub time machine too. But you don't catch lightning in a bottle
twice on this. I don't think. The trailer has moments for me. Because you can't say you didn't
laugh at the least a low thing. I did. Who by the way, guest judge on King of the Nerds this week
still looking great. Lisa Lowe, how you doing. And I have made no no bones about the fact I have a very
unhealthy crush on Lisa Lowe. I feel like I want to see it, but I don't feel like I have to see it.
Does that make sense? Yeah, it does. And we haven't gotten a screening invitation which is concerning.
Who's releasing this? Columbia. Okay. Isn't that who's doing the first one? I couldn't tell you.
I don't know. I think it looks to me like they're trying to cram too much into the film.
Because they don't think they're going to get a third one. Well, they were the cast the white cast as McCail referred to it.
It was on the suit this week. And they were doing this bit worse. It was like I thought you were this
and at one point Adam Scott was with him and Clark too. It looks him. It goes, I thought you were John
Q sack. Everybody would oh god. But Gillian Jacobs and then you know, he's fan of her. I don't know.
We're just going to see. It just does nothing for me. I loved and that's what's supposed to
I loved the first one. Absolutely loved it. We saw it. We did what two different screenings of it.
I want to say we saw it three times. It's the only movie I have as a digital download.
Because that was a day one purchase because I love that movie so much. And I don't want to get first time. We saw it.
It didn't even have any effects with the credits. And it's not the fact that Q
sack isn't there or a watcher named from Masters of Sex. I don't even know about that.
She's apparently not going to be there either. But well, if he's not going to be there, there's no reason
for her to be there. Lizzy cap one. Yes. Just whatever pulled me into the first one is
is noticeably absent from this one. And I don't know what that is. It's just not there.
Also a movie called The Duff where a high school senior instigates a social pecking order
revolution after finding out she has been labeled a Duff which stands for designated ugly
fat friend to her prettier, more popular friend. Oh yeah, we saw the one sheet for that. One of
these robby emails in this, Allison Shanies in this, Ken Zhang is in this, Romney Malko.
It's got some heavy hitters. It's kind of like a more modern version of Mean Girls pretty much.
And McFarland USA, which is the brand new we with Kevin costume Maria Bellos in this as well.
It's based on a true story across country, coach and a small California town,
transfers a team of athletes into championship contenders. I've seen a couple of trailers.
It's a Disney thing. So you pretty much know it's going to be the feel couldn't move the other
year. So you know if you need to go check it out. Apparently, Canada got a different trailer than
we did. So there's no weird what I do that. DVD and blue right new releases this week.
Oscar nominated the theory of everything. Great. Eddie Red main. Also the interview. Why would you
even sell it if you can get it for free 9,000 places right now? Anybody that wants to own this film owns
it already? Yeah. I'm probably in multiple directions. Yeah. Dumb and dumb are two. Did you get a chance
to say this? Yeah. Did you enjoy it? It was funny. It was nowhere near as good as the first one.
Also St. Vincent gets this official home video released this week. I think it went to VOD, but
it hadn't gone. Okay. Okay. Also the homes been with Tommy Lee Jones and Hillary Swank,
very good film. Not the field could move you the year. But have you seen this one yet? No.
Check this one out. I think it really enjoyed it. It's a very unwestern western.
Does that make sense? Okay. It's real. It is enjoyable. Don and I both enjoyed that.
Life itself. That's the Roger Ebert documentary. Okay. That's available this week.
Also the VHS viral. Which you're on board with that franchise. Are you not? I've only seen the
first one. Oh, really? I think it's not the second one. No, I've only seen the first one. Also
dying of the light. Nicholas Cage and Anton Yelchen. Do I need to give you anything already out?
I'm already out. When an devastating illness threatens to end Evan Luke's career in the CIA,
he goes rogue to hunt down a terrorist who tortured him during a mission gone a ride years ago.
You tortured me years ago. In a world. Why am I in this movie? Why are you in any of these CNN series
to 60s? You want to check that? It was pretty good. Yeah. I enjoyed that. And WWE releases
destruction of the shield this week. Really? All right. Take a deep breath. Because in
Memoriam's going to take a minute this week. We're going to start with a great Ed Sabel.
Really? I rushed to say that Mel Brooks is working on the Spaceball sequel. Believe this
subtitle is more money. I'm not joking. I think that's the actual title. I think that's how
that refer to it in the first one. Yeah. Ed Sabel board in 1916 in Atlantic City passed away last
Monday. Winning the Pro Football Hall famous 2011. Outlived his son Steve. If you know anything
about the NFL, you know these two names. You heard that name a billion times. Ed Sabel was
a man that founded NFL films. He was the guy that taught them how to use replay. He really took
filming an NFL game to the next level and his son who grew up in this industry.
Took over the reins for his father without any like there was no transition. It was because
they always did great specials that ESPN would show. They did of course the sports bloopers
on 100. I have the 100 greatest touchdowns on videotape around here somewhere. God. Oh no joke.
I'm not joking. I had the original football follies on videotape for many, many years.
Ed was actually a swimmer. He said a world interclassic swimming record in the 100 yard
freestyle. He also was on a swimming scholarship at Ohio State University. He was selected
to the 1936 Olympic team but refused to participate because of the game's connections to Nazi
Germany. Wow. That's a thing. Did a little bit of theatre work? He was actually on Broadway
for a production of where do we go from here? He served in World War II. He was a clothing salesman
after the war in his father-in-law's factory. His first major contract when he founded Blair
Motion Pictures was the 1962 NFL championship game between the Giants and the Packers at Yankees
Stadium. In 64 Blair Motion Pictures would become NFL films. That's where the other fair started.
Yeah, Don, we're getting to that one here in just a minute. This guy,
or I got that notification that one hurt. I mean, because the NFL was all I had growing
up sports wise because that's the only team we hadn't sat for. And so NFL films was a big part
of my childhood and my adolescence and these guys set the bar, innovators in their field.
Also passing away this week, the age of 84, Jerry Tarkani and Tark this shark,
legendary college basketball coach, UNLV, a guy who by all accounts,
coach for 31 seasons over five decades at three different schools.
Well, in the national championship with UNLV, there was some controversy there.
But you know, when you when you coach a team in Vegas, there's always going to be controversy.
Yeah, yeah, went into the naseness memorial basketball hall of fame two years ago. A lot of people
thought about 15 years too late. But he did go in while he was alive. He battled throughout
his career. He battled accusations of rules violations from the NCAA. He challenged the
organization to also investigate larger and more powerful universities. The NCAA ordered UNLV
to suspend him in 77, but he sued and the Supreme Court ruled against him in 1988. But he remained
UNLV's coach after a settlement with the NCAA. He then sued them again in 92. In the case with
settled, he received two and a half million dollars in 1989. Wow. They said he was a tough coach,
but his players loved him. He was a guy that we all knew. He did a lot. He did great analysis too.
A great man. Also this week, the age of 73 from a car crash, Bob Simon corresponded
for CBS news. Covered crises, war and unrest and over 67 countries in his career.
He reported that with draw of American troops from Vietnam, he covered the Yom Kippur war in
1973, student protests in Tiananmen Square in 89. During the watching the announcement of this
was heartbreak. Watching Scott Pele and now says was really heart-breaking. During the Persian Gulf
war in 1991, he and four of his TV crew were captured in prison by Iraq for 40 days, which he
wrote a book about. I've done a racist, uh, Tark's coach the spurs for a season. I forgot about that.
He became a correspondent for 60 minutes in 1996, and then 60 minutes to in 1999.
CBS News President David Rhodes described him as a giant of broadcast journalism.
He passed away on Wednesday and a car accident while riding in a a library cab in Manhattan.
He's born in the Bronx, graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brandis University with the degree in
history. He began reporting news in 1969 during the troubles in Northern Ireland.
This dude hit every bottle mighty. In Vietnam, he began reporting the war in 1971.
For his reports of the Hanoi's Easter offensive, he won an overseas press club award.
He won another as a part of a team that covered the final six weeks of U.S. involvement,
where he boarded one of the last helicopters to leave in 1975.
You stop there! You stop there! You've got skins on the wall. Nobody can say jack about you.
That's getting a lot of coverage this year, by the way. They're doing like a whole series on that on
PBS about about the end of the Vietnam War. I mean, so the failed propaganda mentioned again during
that. God rest your soul, sir. And then the next day, we lose Gary Owen.
I did not know about this jaw. Are you kidding me? Did not know it. I saw it. I think I was on Facebook.
I saw it on Thursday and I just dropped the mic. The fact that we lost Don Parto and Gary Owen's
this close together. Yeah. It was 80 years old. He was one of the guys that you impersonate when
you do voices. You know as announcers. He was the voice on Rowan and Martin's laughing. He was space
go. Oh yeah. That's what else do you need to say the dude was space ghost. That's the first thing
that comes to mind mind. I don't think about Rowan and Martin's laughing. I think space ghost.
He was Roger Ramjet. This one hurts me more than any of them.
Born in Mitchell, South Dakota. The son of an educator and county auditor and a county
treasurer in Sheriff. Sorting his radio career at KORN in Mitchell, South Dakota in 1952.
He's such a space ghost now. He worked here. Did he? Says he worked in Dallas.
Has a DJ or something? As a news director, I think. This guy, like,
what are the greatest announcers at welcome to Laven? He was the very white of announcer.
Yes, he really was. He was also a narrator of antenna TV, which was a deal. Space ghost!
I'm trying not to get emotional right now. Do you like my race? Like, ah!
The episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast where they went looking for his floating head.
And, sorry, I kept kicking the back of Voltar's chair.
And then today,
Louie Jordan. At the age of 93.
Who's the bad guy in octopus? Like, that's enough for me.
And he was the bad guy and swamp thing. That's the first thing that comes up my mind for some crazy
reason. Born in March, say France in 1921, one of three sons.
His father was a hotel owner. He was educated in France, Turkey and Britain and studied acting.
While studying he began acting on the professional stage where he was brought to the attention
of director Mark Allegrae, who hired him to work as an assistant camera operator on the curtain
rises. His first movie was in 1939, but filming was interrupted by the Second World War and was never
resumed. Oh, man. You think maybe that's going to be the career interval. Well played Russ. He's
talking about Gary Owens. I can see it now from beautiful downtown heaven.
Well played sir. Well played. Louie Jordan. I just man. Gary Owens is going to announce people as they
come to the gates. His first American film was the paradigm case starring Gregory Peck.
Was directed by Alfred Hitchcock? I just man. It's really sad to see that his career kind of
dwindled down. He was also in three coins in the fountain. Made his Broadway debut in 1954 in
the lead role in Billy Rose. You say for your coins in the fountain, I'll like and think of his
favorite movie. Oh, it was Billy Rose adapted it. I mean man. He was in the swan with Grace Kelly
and Alec Guinness. Oh man. You get that call. And here's who we want you to work with.
You say yes so quickly your head snaps. Yeah. Man, you two sir will be missed.
What this could be is this the longest in the Moriom segment we've ever had. I think so. Good night.
We're just going to go to the list because I don't know. This list isn't going to make you feel
much better. Well, I don't have to do the list this week so you too. So I can take a breather. Well
not definitely going to have to get your feedback on it. We end every show with the list this week
is no exception. It goes to Chad this week. Well, I partook. Is that the right one? Is that the
right part? Yeah part of the word uses of that word in a in a in a film I've been wanting to
see and it's been kind of floating out there for a couple of years and I didn't realize it a bit
floating around her that long and I go back Gary Olgers blue Falcon. How do you forget that?
She's that's right. Dynamite. Man. Sorry. Let me recollect myself now. Now finally watched it.
It finally watched it and it was really disappointed with it. It was it was a biopic on a on a
performer that I really really really found out of it. It's part of this list but it got me to
think of other films that have been made in this genre that just missed the mark completely.
So biopic bad biopic. Yeah, you know, which are different from documentaries,
documentaries, it's actual footage. Biopic are other people portraying the people that are such
right either through either through bad casting or bad writing or just. Well, I know one
film is on this list that I'm surprised you put on this list and I'm going to take it. Damn!
You know what I'm talking to me. I told you some of them. Number 10 was unbroken.
Which I know. Don enjoyed this film. To me, it didn't do anything for me to want to see it.
It did. Well, part of it was the fact that you never really bought that this guy was going to
be in any real danger because such a big deal was made about him. Such a big deal was made about
him passing right before the movie released. So I'm like, well, obviously we know how this thing isn't going
to end. And it was it was it was such a downer. Such an absolute downer. Yeah, yes.
Shinnler's list was a downer, but that film was fantastic. It was supposed to be.
And I should have known the writing was on the wall when it got completely ignored by the
globes. And then the odd a lot of people had content with that, though, because a lot of people said
that the world were shocked by them by the snub at the Golden Globe. I was shocked by it because
you know, usually films of this magnitude just seem like like you always say instant Oscar baked.
Right. Until I watched it. That's when it comes out on Christmas day. Yeah, and I watched this film.
I'm like, okay, now I kind of see where everybody was coming from. Okay. Number nine.
Number nine. The subject of this topic in the first place was what made me put this list together was
Jimmy all his buy my son. And that makes me sad because she was so ready to see who he was. Now
there's an Andre 3000 on Andre Benjamin played him and played him convincingly, but this film just went nowhere.
Do you play him? Yeah, it was done without the, without the consent of the, of the Hendrix estate.
So they had a huge issue with this. Yeah. So that was, that was another red flag.
So you couldn't get any of the music. You couldn't get any footage of him. No.
I mean, you, and all the heat could perform. So there was, there was more music in American
sniper. There wasn't that. There were songs that they were all just covers that he did. Like he,
like the, the, the biggest still got made about him, whatever he, he shows up at a
performance, right before he's going to play Monterey. Okay. Where he covers Sergeant Peppers
two days after the album had come out. Oh, wow. And you had, uh, you had members of the Beatles
in attendance at this show. They're like, how the heck does he know this song already?
Uh, and speed up. Well, he, he had, he had gotten the album and crashed, you know, just crushed it
backstage with his bandmates. So we needed, we needed, this is what we're going to open with.
They're like, this album just came out two days ago and said, we're going to learn it right now.
And they go out and absolutely destroy it in a good way. But the fact that you covered such a
small period in his career. It was just a few years. He was in London kind of like walked along.
Kind of, you know, in which almost made the list for me, or Ali. Yeah, another film that almost made
the list. Number eight. Grace of Montico. Boy, this came and went, didn't it? Yes, it did.
As did number seven. Was, was this the only one? No, that was number seven. That's Diana. Okay.
So who was Nicole Kidman? That's right. Both of those two mixed stuff. Both of those came out
almost simultaneous. That could be why and both landed with a thud and absolute thud. Which, of course,
Nicole Kidman, failing at something mixed on happy. So. And I was really sad to see Diana flopp as
Badly as it did. It didn't even get a theatrical release. I'm a fan of the Naomi Watch. I am too.
I truly am. Number six. Amelia Hilary Swank is Amelia Earhart. Boy, that came and went.
I forgot all about that. One critic in particular said that in a accomplished defeat that
they didn't think possible. It has made us indifferent to this real life arrow. It's tragic. Oh dear.
Yeah. Let's arch. I mean, she, she was, she resembled her. Startingly, it was a
startlingly, you know, close resemblance to her. But they said that her performance was more
in the snippet than inspiring. That's unfortunate. Number five. Number five. Alexander.
I've got who's in there. Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie. Was an Oliver Stone directed
biopic about Alexander the Great that failed on multiple levels. Why? Remember why?
It's about how it felt. Find out why all the Romans and the movies have British accents.
Number four. Number four. Great balls of fire. See, I didn't think this was that bad. It was
laughable trying to see him pull the trying to see. It was no bucid as buddy Holly, but it wasn't bad.
I kind of like bucid as buddy Holly. I'm saying, no, I'm saying it wasn't that good, but it
wasn't that bad. Well, and you're, you're, you're making a biopic about a subject that
already had controversy surrounding it because of how much was focused on his relationship with.
And then you had one on a ride out. Yeah. So it's been out grades and I don't, I think the
casting was worse than the film itself. That, that's what I'm saying. It's, it's not so much.
It can either be bad directing, bad screenwriting or bad casting. And I think he was just
and I like him. I do like him. I like him. But he was hard choice for that role. It was horribly
miscast. Number three. Number three. Jobs. See, I haven't seen it. You and Don have seen this. I have
not awful, which is just probably a recent one. awful. I mean, see, you could not, you could not
not see Kelso, the whole time is what we were going to go burr because he's dressed just like in
the whole time. I, I never for one second believed him in this role, not for a microsecond that I
believe it. Do you, is it because of who he is or was the portrayal that bad? The portrayal was that
thing. I mean, I'm looking forward to Sorkin's interpretation of this, of this, of this,
I can ever get a cast. I can ever go around for more than a week. But, it's,
action-culture never convinced me for one second. Number two. Number two. Mommy dearest.
Real. Yeah. Wow. It was so campy. It was like watching an episode of Batman.
I mean, the fact that this guy never, maybe for it's time. I'm sure it probably doesn't age well.
No, it didn't. But, well, within a year, it's released. This thing won a golden turkey for
fade on a waste performance as, as a joke Crawford. Number one. Number one. Can not be disputed.
Will not be debated. John Wayne is gangas caught in the conqueror. This film,
are we gonna take over a joke? This film killed people. I mean, it is responsible for this,
for countless deaths because they shot this thing on a location where they had done testing
for nuclear weapons. Are you at Thanksgiving, Phil Grum? I mean, this is what killed John Wayne
himself. I mean, he contracted cancer from this film. It was almost like King Touch curse. How
many people this thing killed. And I guess what we talked about in pre-shows is an honorable mention.
Then what's that? Stupid boat movie. Stupid boat movie and Pearl Harbor. I think both kind of
fall into the category of you had so many people that you could have made this film about. The moment
where things went, was that the start of Michael Bay's downward spiral? Well, if you can truly say
it's a downward spiral. From a quality standpoint. Because you love transformers. That's the
the lovely endowment. And that was way after that. True. But you had so many people real life people
that both of these events touched. You couldn't make that about one of them. This is one of those.
You might want to look up the Wikipedia page. Yeah. You know, I enjoy Titanic as a cinematic experience.
I know you had it. I enjoyed it as a cinematic experience. If you go over choose, it's one of
those few instances where you actually got guys watching a chick flick. You weren't one of those guys,
but I watched it for a specific reason. I watched every best picture nominee that you're in a theater.
It's the only reason I saw it. I saw it with my father at the galaxy. And we walked out of there
just feeling like we had experienced something incredible. But should did it deserve to win best
picture? I don't think so. I like that film, but I don't think it deserved best picture.
And Pearl Harbor, just it suffered from the exact same disease. You know, and I know it really
doesn't. It really can't be counted as a biopic because it's called Pearl Harbor. It's called
Titanic. It's not called the unsinkable Molly Brown because they'd already done that.
Now I will say there's one bright moment for me in that stupid boat movie. It is
Molly Brown. Yeah. Like I thought Kathy baits it a really good job. I'll give her that.
And you know my fans. And just as far as from a technical aspect, you have to be amazed by what they did in that film.
But I just don't think it deserved best picture. No, it didn't.
No, the confidential was a much better film. Yeah, I'll take that to my grave. I'll agree with you
as much as I love Titanic. I still think LA confidential was the better film. You'll never hear me
debate you on that. The only time I've had to go back and see a film a second time because I couldn't
pay attention to the story because the performance is so good, right? Do you hear? I can say that
about Kim Bassinger. You've got something. No, what were you going to take me down on?
No, I was going to take stupid boat movie. Oh, okay, okay. I'm going to take you down. Okay.
And he's very list. Anything you would want to add to it.
Molly, I was I was tempted. I was tempted. It just stopped and you were like, no, no, no, no,
we're just getting good to the good part here. That's how that's how I was with Jimmy. I mean,
you you ended it right whenever you're getting off the plane to play Monterey. Really? That's
it. I worry about the Tyson movie with Jamie Foxx. I worry about that.
Walk the line was dangerously close because because that ended way too soon. Right.
It's great to see those performances where I wanted more. I wanted more stories. I can think
of any of the ones off the top of my head. I know they exist. I just don't have the top of my head.
I know people just obliterated the fifth of state.
I said to see that. People people thought that somebody said, I have heard that
coverage looked more like Kylie my note. But I'm sure that kind of a comrade probably wants
that one back. But yeah, I've heard pretty bad things about that. And beyond the sea kept popping
up on this on list. That isn't out yet though. Yeah, it just came out. Oh, that's the one with
spacey. Yeah, Bobby Darren. I was thinking about that new one about movie dick. No, no, no, no, no. I
but see I heard good things about that because he did all of his own singing. And I heard good things
about it. Yeah, they, one of the critics of the San Francisco Chronicle called it a jaw droppingly
awful, misbegotten, ill-conceived vanity project to your call. Yeah. So it made one third of its budget
pack. Everybody's got theirish tart. I've always said it. And that would definitely be his.
But that's the list. Well played, sir. Don't forget next week is WWE Fastlane. So it'll be a
short and show. Same start time. But we'll be wrestling intensive. So if you're someone who doesn't
really dig that part of the show, just know that that's coming next week. You know, man, no,
we're not wrestling each other. No, just let's do the plucks.
