It is 702 on the East Coast.
It is 402 on the West Coast.
It is Sunday, January the 5th in the year of our Lord 2014.
It is season 4 Episode 26 for those of you playing the home game this is Issue 202.
The clubhouse is live on the air.
We appreciate you listening.
No matter how you listen.
Whether you are listening live right here on Eustrine.
Whether you listen on our archive or whether you subscribe on iTunes.
We don't care how you listen.
We're just glad you're here.
My name is Rob and the DVR is almost caught up and that's a good thing.
I want to personally welcome you.
We knew you.
We hope all of you had a great new year's safe celebration time.
As we get into the swing of things again.
Joining me across the desk is he tends to do when we do these things.
There's a man who has certain channels but not certain channels but he knows not a channel
himself.
He is sharp.
Wow that was a stretch.
Not everything is going to be a home run.
You are really fishing on that one.
Well there was a very uneventful week for us hanging out so there was nothing that I could
make fun of you for.
Oh geez.
That's the bar apparently.
That would be 2014 to use her and you as well.
We ragan together.
Yes we did.
They're in the green room.
We're going to talk about that come P.O.I.
We saw the run.
You haven't given it to me.
Oh well you didn't say that.
I guess I should go fetch it now.
We're starting the New Year guest list.
Which is nothing wrong with that.
Sometimes we can do that.
A lot of people go through a lot of things getting the New Year started off right.
Let's start with some corrections.
There's only really won this week.
And it was kind of weird as I was listening back to last week's episode.
During P.O.I when we were talking about the demise of Blockbuster video, I was getting
my wires crossed between red box and Netflix.
Oh you were referring to one and the other in the other yeah so it was couple three
different times.
Easy mistake.
Yeah.
Well we were changing topics during that.
They were rapidly.
The colors were both red and white.
Yeah.
Even though some red boxes are blue now and that's very confusing to me.
They are.
The one over there though Walmart market that we go to.
Well you got to remember some of them were.
Wow.
Now that the Walmart market would make any sense.
Yeah Tom Thumb was the only one that I knew they had the blockbuster keyouts because
they converted over to red box.
So I was just kind of weird to me.
I was there last time.
But it's red box and it's.
I mean I just didn't even want to blue-ray thing but still it's still red box.
Just saying.
We are your one stop shop for all things sports entertainment.
That has not changed but we're going to start with television news and a little bit
of a violent condo.
We have a couple of violent condioses to do this week but a very strange week.
Last week I believe it was New Year's was New Year's Eve or New Year's Day that this
happened.
I have it on New Year's Eve.
Got a notification on Facebook of a violent condios.
It's just this one kind of shocked me.
Yeah James LaRue Avery born November 27th, 1945.
This was hard for me to talk about James Avery, the actor.
Most people know him as Uncle Phil from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Friend of the show Andrew Beckham caught me off guard.
He all right peded a different way.
How do you say it?
He was the voice of Shredder on T.J. Ninja Turtle.
That's right.
That's right.
And he used Shredder's real name and I was like I had to look up and I was like okay maybe
something happened in the comics.
And then I was like no Uncle Phil died he was like yeah I was like I did not know they were
one in the same.
I remember stumbling across that coin no way.
He has one more film to be released.
It's a little bit called Wish I was here.
Got his first TV gig in 1983 when he played Marty in an Anthony and Cleopatra at TV
movie.
But started in film in 1980 where he was an uncredited man dancing in the Blues Brothers.
Man dance.
That's what it says.
Cheese.
Fist he was in Fist of the North Star.
What?
Yes.
What a voice.
Stooge Mania.
Stooge Mania.
He was he was Gulch and Stooge Mania.
He was in license to drive as the DMV examiner.
Oh dear Lord.
Beast master two through the portal of time.
Oh.
The Brady bunch movie in 1995.
He was he was created with additional voices in the animated film the Prince of Egypt.
Doctor do little too.
A Christmas wish.
He was in the smash hit who's your catty.
That's terrible.
But tell me.
But you look at his TV work.
He was in Tales of the Gold Monkey which was one of my favorite shows on the day.
The Stephen was his name was Stephen Hawkins.
I think so.
The Indiana Jones wanted the New Heart, the Jefferson Simon and Simon Hill Street Blues,
Hard Castle and McCormick.
Webster.
He just went off.
He was a TV monster.
The dukes of hazard, street hawks, sand elsewhere, cagny and lacy, scarecrow and
Mrs. King.
He was the voice of J.Y.D. in Whole Cogans Rock and Wrestling.
You kidding me?
Does this true?
That's great in this man.
He was Chuck.
The 18 moon lighting.
He was additional voices if you remember karate commandos.
Oh.
Nice.
Didn't they sponsor some WWE paper views at one point?
Probably.
Amazing stories.
Greatness.
God.
He was turbo on Rambo and the forces of freedom.
He was on the real Ghostbusters.
Amen.
He was on the real Ghostbusters.
Was he killer what?
Okay.
So he wouldn't win them.
Time stalkers.
Jake and the Fatman.
Dallas, Beauty and the Beast.
2, 2, 7, LA Law.
A different world.
Night court.
It's just.
It's amazing how deep this guy's career went.
I think it was like he was always working.
And we actually talked about on this show.
One of my favorite moments of him was actually not on.
Not on.
Oh, he's also the voice of Brewer Bayer and Connect is New England Adventures.
Sir.
My God.
I've got that too.
It was on Family Matters.
When they were Reginald Vel Johnson's asleep in the chair and the little boy says,
See, I told you he looks like the dad from Fresh Prince.
It's during the credit sequence at the end.
And you hear this knock on the door.
There's James Avery just didn't look at them like I hate you.
It's such a brilliant moment in television for me.
Most people know him as Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince about.
And one of my favorite moments there was.
When we got into the port where.
Will and Carlton moved into the guest house.
And they were laying down the ground rules and he said,
No skinny, different.
And Will said, I'm not just to ask the same thing.
You.
He was brilliant.
A great actor.
And from all accounts of great human being.
James Avery.
You will be Mr. Sir.
Let's move on to some more uplifting news.
Especially as it goes into your camps, sir.
Doctor who the time of the doctor sets the all-time viewing record for BBC America.
72% better than last year's Christmas special, which is a feat unto itself from what I understand.
That is like that that show does outrageous ratings every year.
Garden of the people see two and a half million viewers.
Well, and it's obvious why.
I mean, this truly was the year of the doctor this past.
Oh, yes.
It was all about the doctor being the 50th anniversary of that show.
A fun, don't go official.
Fact checker of the show was checked in good to see you, sir.
See the temperature check.
Yeah, I saw that.
Oh, you figured we were watching the the Packers game with a windshield.
It was minus 12.
Yeah, I'll pass on that.
And they still packed that stadium.
Of course.
Well, you saw the.
The, uh,
uh,
call me a winner.
It's the winner.
That's just, we're going to talk about that a little bit.
Oh, my God.
You talk about devotion.
Yeah.
But a big deal for BBC America.
I don't know why I just can't bring myself to the show with the geek cred that I have.
I'm right there with you.
And it's because when I maybe part of my block is I watched the original.
Uh-huh.
And I have such fun memories of it.
I don't know.
Maybe that's what's keeping me away from.
I know you've gotten a little bit more involved here in the last few months.
Only because of the of the, uh, the 50th anniversary.
The day of the doctor.
At the time of the doctor.
Christmas special.
But the day of the doctor of the actual 50th anniversary celebration episode.
They did that way.
We went to saw the atrically because my wife is an absolute.
Oofy and junk.
She is a British descent.
Isn't the American issued doctor who?
Uh, I think it's, I think it's required by, uh, by law.
Who fan.
Um, personally.
As you well.
No, you know what.
Uh-huh.
You know what.
Shut up.
Um.
There.
I've been.
Very leery of any and all things sci-fi on television for years.
For many, many years.
Okay.
It, it took a lot for you to convince me to watch Firefly.
Because I'm always so put off by how hokey everything looks.
How hokey the effects look.
How hokey the makeup looks.
And I know that who is really deep into that.
And it, it's, it's just one of the things that made me keep it at arm fling.
Firefly was nothing like that and that's why I loved it.
Because everything looked like a, you know, a big budget film.
And I know that's why what you loved about Galactica as well.
Because you've been championing that ever since.
I know.
Ever since it hit the air.
We got to get you on there.
Uh, which I've got no problem.
But that's why I kind of stayed away from the doctor.
Because it just looked too much like the star.
Star more on board now.
I'm getting there.
But it's still, it still has that star gate far escape look for me.
That kind of makes me just go, I don't know.
But I'm willing to give it a shot.
Okay.
Fair enough.
Congratulations to them on getting those kind of ratings.
Oh, yeah.
It's not surprising at all.
2.47 million viewers.
I'd be happy with 2.47 people.
Not listening to this shit.
And that's on BBC America.
Can you imagine what it did?
Oh, I overseas.
And favorable.
Good night.
Inconceivable.
Inconceivable.
If you are one of the.
No people that I know.
That watched.
Uh, baits Motel.
Uh, they in eat.
I think Dawn does.
Think Dawn.
Dawn, did you watch baits Motel?
I'll have to check him out in the chat room.
Season two will bow on March 3rd on A&E with the Vera Farminga.
Apparently Michael Vartan is going to be on that show this season.
This is a show that I just.
I couldn't commit myself to because it's it's way too different.
I just feel like we're getting flooded with prequels of stuff.
What is this?
What do you think it is?
I know who it is.
What is it?
Think about what we're talking about.
What is this a prequel too?
Oh, is it psychoso?
Thank you.
Okay.
I'm trying to think.
I didn't have the original version.
I only had the live version.
So.
Is this from the symphony?
Yes.
A lot for.
Uh, I mean, it's obviously gotten ratings.
Yeah.
So it's just not something that I just find myself drawn to.
I think it's it's the people that.
That the the fringe crowd that really got attracted to.
American American horror story, which I am a part of that fan base, but.
I don't know.
I just couldn't go with this.
I could probably kick myself out watching and Doug.
And if we have learned nothing in the last 60 days,
it's I don't need to add any more show.
This is true.
But I'm caught up on everything right now, except unsung.
That you and I need to start start working on.
We need to go.
I'm thinking maybe one episode every time we get together.
Because what we found is when we try to binge that show.
We get really bogged down pretty quickly.
We I think we we go through one and we see if we have an appetite for another.
It's like a bag of potato chips.
Yeah.
You either want to eat the whole bag or just.
And speaking of that TV one doing a spin off series called unsung Hollywood.
Which I'm kind of check out.
I was like, well, I have to see.
People like Pam Greer.
Pam Greer I know is on that list.
So I'll have to check that out as well.

That is called ERVIN.
And I got a very interesting follower today.
One Chris Gore is following me on Twitter.
Really?
Yes.
I was random.
Very proud of that.
I am at chat in PG-6.
You completely threw me off.
Don who is the official fact checker of the show.
He is fun.
Don go on Twitter.
He is saying he did watch baseball tell was okay.
He may watch.
Okay.
I see my guy remember him mentioning that a couple of times.
And one of the things we love to do on this show is we love to do our show live
out of the studio.
So if you would like to have us come kind of enhanced.
What you've got going on at your business.

Tadding the greatness of the following again.
We don't need to do nothing.
Charlotte Parker is on Pinterest.
And our thoughts are with her.
She's going to be having a root canal tomorrow.
Plus her heart.
So, but we are morally obligated to say that.
And Jill's mom is wherever she wants to be.
Whatever she wants to be there as long as she has so
the stream she's okay.
Let us go on campus.
Normally, by this point in our bowl prediction season,
I am just beaten down.
I have let America down.
You personally have let America down.
Well, I can tell you there's two people I've let down in past seasons.
And those are the parents of my wife.
Because for the last three years, her parents do they do like a bowl
to pull it work.
And her dad will call me and I'll go and I'll give him the picks.
I end up bombing.
This year, they didn't get him in time.
So, I couldn't give him my predictions to help him out.
Okay.
This wouldn't have been the year.
Because right now.
Let me get, I got to get the all back up here.
What happened there?
There are 35 bowl games.
Okay.
Gotcha.
There are three left.
The next bowl game will go on the air.
We'll go on the after we get off the air.
But we're going to get to the scores here in just a minute.
Let's go to the week that was in college bowl season.
Monday, December, 30th.
Navy over middle Tennessee state in the armed forces bowl.
Yeah.
Let me get the official tally on that.
You and I both had that Charlene Don did not.
That score was 24 to six.
The music city bowl Ole Miss over Georgia Tech 25 to 17.
I had that in Charlotte had that.
In the Valero Alamo bowl.
Number 10 Oregon over Texas huge 30 to seven.
And we're going to talk about Texas here in just a moment.
Everybody but Don had that.
In the National University holiday bowl.
Number 14 Arizona State loses the Texas Tech 37 to 23.
Everybody but Charlotte had that.
On New Year's Eve, the Advocate V100 Bowl in Treeport, Louisiana.
Arizona over Boston College.
42 to 19.
Yeah.
Chad and Charlotte both had that.
The in the Hyundai Sun Bowl.
UCLA over Virginia Tech 42 to 12.
Everybody but Chad had that one.
In the auto zone Liberty Bowl.
Rice takes a shellacking from Mississippi State 44 to 7.
I have that Don had that.
In the Chick-fil-A bowl.
Johnny football's final game.
5248 they beat Duke.
And Texas that had to come from behind to win that.
All of us did have an M in that particular contest.
New Year's Day in the TechSlayer.com Gator Bowl.
I'm trying to make it sound like it's something.
Nebraska beats number 22 Georgia 24 to 19.
Charlotte and Don had that one.
In the heart of Dallas Bowl.
North Texas beats the tar out of UNLV 36 to 14.
Everybody but Don had that one.
In the capital one bowl was constant versus South Carolina.
The SEC gets a win.
Number nine over number 19 34 to 24.
Myself in Charlotte had that one.
In the outback bowl.
LSU over Iowa 21 to 14.
And from what I'm told maybe a little bit of.
That's a sportsman like work from LSU in that game.
I'm hearing from some Iowa fans.
Like what?
And just not being real nice.
But everybody had that one.
Then we go to the Rose Bowl presented by Vizio.
Michigan State over Stanford 24 to 20.
And what was a great game.
Everybody but Charlotte had that one.
In the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Central Florida over Baylor.
Number 15 upsets number 652 to 42.
Sucks to have the under.
Nobody had that.
Really?
Nobody did.
That was in the in the festival on the second.
In the all state sugar bowl.
Oklahoma upsets Alabama 45 to 31 again.
Nobody had that one.
At the same time the discover orange bowl was going on.
Should I have to find?
Don't have it listed in here.
That's weird.
Of the orange bowl was on the third.
Clemson over Ohio State 40 to 35.
And again, nobody had that one.
We get into the same night with a cotton bowl.
Miss zoo over Oklahoma State number 80's number 1341 to 31.
Everybody but Don had that one.
And then we go to the BBVA Compass Bowl last night.
Vandy all over the Houston Cougars 41 to 24.
Nice.
You want to guess who the only person that had that was.
You're talking to him.
Oh, you did the only one.
So there are two games left tonight.
After we go off air, you're going to have the go daddy.com bowl from Mobile, Alabama,
Arkansas State versus Ball State.
You and I have Arkansas State.
Charlotte and Don have Ball State.
And tomorrow night at 730 Central,
the Vizio BCS National Championship game Florida State versus Auburn.
Everybody but Charlotte has Florida State.
So here is the situation as it stands.
Don says when we did the picks,
I thought he said we were picking the loser.
So he has a new twist of picking everybody.
But Charlotte has Florida.
I pick Florida State.
You did sir.
I have it on the sheet.
I didn't mean to do that.
So here's the situation right now.
Don is mathematically not he can't win.
Because he has five points behind first place with two games to go.
Why would I explore this thing?
Charlotte is one point behind the leaders.
And notice I say that is a plural word.
Because the first time in the history of this show,
I can honestly win this thing.
Because you and I are tied.
At 20 correct.
Charlotte was 19 done with 15.
But here's the conundrum.
The best you and I can do right now is tie for first.
Because we both have Arkansas State and we both have Florida State.
I can't believe you pick Florida State.
It's for the sake of winning sir.
I want my conference to win.
I'll be happy to lose that one.
But I have to go with logic here.
And we're going to talk about it here in a minute.
Charlotte has picked against us in both games.
So if we lose the two, she wins the two.
She wins by a point.
She can split it.
And still lose.
Because if she splits it, that means we split it two.
We still win true.
Or we win by two.
So this is coming down to tomorrow night.
Yes it is.
Because what's going to happen is.
Somebody either us or hers going to win this thing.
And that's the only way it pans out.
Which is, and that's crazy.
I can't believe it came.
It's getting this close.
And what really kept me in it is I went on a four game run.
Lost one, a three game one, lost one and a four game run.
And now I'm on a two game run right now.
Because we all of us win on that three game losing streak.
Now, Texas.
Oh boy.
This is where it's going to get weird.
Because you're going to hear me say something that I have never said in the history of this show.
To the University of Texas, I say the following.
You may have gotten the biggest upgrade.
You could have possibly fathomed two days ago.
That's, that's, that's just fact.
I, for the first time ever,
I'm intrigued by something the University of Florida.
The University of Texas has done.
Because they have a new coach.
Everybody thought that it was going to be Nick Sabin.
Let me explain something to you friends.
You've got, you're in the best possible situation you could be in right now.
Because the new coach of the University of Texas is one Charlie Strong.
This is a guy who's been a coach since 1983.
He played from 1983 at Central Arkansas.
So he went straight from player to graduate assistant coach at the University of Florida.
Then he did, he did two years there.
Then he did a year as a graduate assistant at A&M.
Then he did two years as a wide receiver's coach at Southern Illinois.
88 to 89. He's the outside line-backer coach at Florida.
90. He's the wide receiver coach at Ole Miss. He comes back to Florida as assistant head coach
and defensive from 91 to 94.
Then he goes to Notre Dame for four seasons.
Then to South Carolina. Then back to Florida.
Where he spent some time as the interim head coach.
So I know who this guy is.
When, when, when, when urban step down.
I was really hoping he would have stepped into that role.
Because I love Charlie Strong. I'm a huge fan of this man.
He instead goes to Louisville in 2010 and builds that program.
He builds that program to the point where his quarterback was a husband finalist this year.
Teddy Bridgewater.
Who is a beast?
Whatever you're paying him, Texas, it ain't enough.
I'm going to tell you that right now because you now have a glimmer of hope.
Maybe not in 2014 because you've got to give him time.
That's the thing I think the Texas fans have to understand.
You have to give him a pass in season one.
Yeah, he's got to build that program.
But I will tell you this within the next three years.
Texas is a top five program again.
Because he knows how to coach him up.
But you will still hate their fans.
Nobody cared about Louisville before 2010.
He made Louisville a force to be reckoned with.
I will still hate that. I will still hate Texas.
Don't get me wrong.
But I receive that.
This is our hate the Texas fans.
Yeah, it's a little bit about there.
But I respect the coaching choice.
That's a great great choice.
Congratulations to the University of Texas on a coach that is actually going to do something for you.
No disrespect to Mac Brown.
But we've always said he's a better recruiter than he is a coach.
Always has been.
But this is a big deal.
And I will be watching to see what the University of Texas does.
It's going to be always forward.
You made me actually care about something the University of Texas is doing.
So congratulations to for that.
Okay now.
Just breathe.
Just breathe.
Because now we have to go to the other side of that coin.
And talk a little NFL because I'm going to tell you something.
This has been an insane weekend in the NFL.
It's wildcard weekend, baby.
Love wildcard weekend.
We've built our own insanity.
We're going to talk about the coaching carousel.
Happens every year around this time.
It seems five teams have fired their coaches.
Don says that Charlie's getting 25 million over five years.
They're nothing to shake a stick at, but that brother should be.
You better make sure he stays paid.
Shiano fired from Tampa Bay replaced by Lovey Smith came out this morning.
I read that in when it comes to the roster, they are giving Lovey Smith final say.
Really?
Yes.
So apparently upper management's going to stay out of it.
And you know what?
Lovey Smith earned it.
They should stay out of it.
I'm excited about this pick.
Very excited.
Because you know the bucks are my second team.
Yeah.
It's all very excited about this.
Minnesota fires Leslie Frazier.
Houston fires their coach and they have hired Penn State Coach Bill O'Brien.
So after you know surviving those couple of years after the the mess that was Penn State,
he has left there and is going to the Houston Texans.
I don't know that's an upgrade.
Really?
Houston Texans ownership needs to do the same thing to the Astros ownership did this year
and say look, we're going to suck for a little while.
Just be patient with us.
We're going to build this thing.
Rod Chiginski as a Chiginski as we said last week on this show because that broke during the show last week.
He was fired from the Cleveland Browns.
Mike Shanahan fired as the coach of the Washington Redskins.
I think we all knew that was coming.
And Jim Schwartz.
The one coach in the NFL that Charlotte does not trust and she has made no bones about it.
He has been fired from a Detroit Lions.
So you got a lot of changes going around right now.
Still no firing in the front office in Miami.
Very intrigued by this because Ireland's got to go.
Well, that ain't going to happen.
That's well documented on the show.
Oh, maybe not the coach.
Ireland's got to go.
The coach I'm still on the fence about.
I like him, but they weren't real effective.
If you listen to this lot, the views of the list show last week and heard me absolutely lose my mind.
I love my dolphins, man.
You actually had me frightened for me.
I put the fan and fanatic when it comes to my dolphins.
But I'm realistic.
I know we suck.
Man, it just gets old after a while.
As I take a sip of my tasty beverage.
Thank you so much.
So yesterday.
Let's talk about the late game first because I don't want to talk about the early game just yet.
In the late game, New Orleans over a filly with a last second field goal 26 to 24.
Knit full 23 of 33, 195 yards and two touchdowns.
But let's talk about Ingram.
A guy that people wanted gone from this team in the beginning of the season wanted him traded.
He says, well, I got something for you.
18 rushes 97 yards in a touchdown.
And by the way, if you look at the numbers, he did against Dallas.
That wouldn't shabby either.
And then the early game.
I went out to dinner last night with some dear friends.
And I want to send a shout out to Tammy Schaefer Ministries who worked with and our prison ministry took us out to dinner.
Did I show you the deal I got?
The very nice certificate that I got from them?
Nice.
That's going to go off the wall here on the studio very soon.
I just have to put it up.
But I got there and it was right before halftime and it was 31 to 10 cans of city over indie.
And I was like, this is church.
They put this many points on the board.
I mean, and it was midway through the second quarter.
It wasn't close to half.
And I was like, this thing could be over.
I hate to see Indigo down in flames like this because you know, Indie does have my favorite plan to leak.
Number one in your program.
Number one in your heart's patmac.
I'll patmac.
I was also the holder.
He's not under the pundra, but he's the holder as well.
Not the quarterback, especially when you got to play Seattle.
We go to half on my call, man.
And then all of a sudden, I didn't know where Indie scores 14 on its points.
And I'm like, they're trying to make this a game.
And I'm sitting with pastors and pastors, lives, and we all know each other.
We all know each other, but we're all looking over our shoulder, the TV's in the bar.
Just going, um, um.
And then they just start to claw their way back into it.
Now, let me give you the quarterback numbers in this game before you.
If you didn't watch the game.
Alex Smith, who everybody thought was gone.
He was done. He was never coming back.
And he rebringed him to Kansas City.
Last night, 30 of 46.
378 yards and four touchdowns.
Andrew luck.
29 of 45, 443 yards, four touchdowns and three picks.
Todd, as Indie comes back to win by a point.
45 to 44 sucks to have the under.
This game was insane.
There was at one point.
There was, there was a, a fumble that wound just wound up in the defender's hand.
It's like, oh my god, I have the ball.
How do I get that?
This, and then earlier today,
San Diego all over Cincinnati, 27 descent.
It's your main aggression.
7 reception 64 yards in a touchdown.
Ronnie Brown.
Why is he not dying me dolphin anymore?
You idiots.
8 rushes for 77 yards in a touchdown.
San Diego is going to go on.
But here's the problem.
San Diego, you get the Broncos.
Good luck.
Unless you all the luck in the world.
And Indie gets new England.
Shot or stabbed.
San Francisco Green Bay.
There is 409 left in the fourth quarter.
It is tied 20 apiece.
The winner of this game gets the Saints.
Now, we, you and I talked earlier down.
I heard a stat that, but a lot of people were like, why is San Francisco traveling
to Green Bay?
They have four more wins.
The problem was Green Bay won the division.
San Francisco had to be in a division.
With Seattle and Denver.
Is that right?
No, Denver is in the AFC.
But they're in the NFC West, which is a mess anyway.
It's happened four times in the history of the league where a team has had to travel
with four more wins.
All four times in the history of this league.
The team with the four less wins has won.
Also, in all four games this weekend, the winner of the game
is a trail that halftime.
Green Bay, trail by three at the half.
Oh boy.
Right now San Francisco has the ball on the Green Bay 40.
With 246 to go.
So we will be keeping an eye on that for you as well.
I love the playoffs.
I love the playoffs.
I love the playoffs.
Sorry, you know, the drink of my TC beverage.
I'm still getting over this sickness I've had.
Just keeping my throat really dry.
What I have learned is taking Nyquill on a school night as a bad idea.
Yeah, I don't care when I take it.
When I get it, I'm dragging butt for like the first hour and a half of work.
I could take it like right now at six thirty central time.
I get up at four thirty and it would still kick my butt until nine.
Hmm.
I don't know what it is.
Oh.
Talk about football all dog on day.
But we can't because we got to move on.
We got to talk about right here on the clubhouse podcast live every Sunday,
70 certain four Pacific three weeks from tonight.
We're going to be live on location.
Fox and town Richardson Texas for the Royal Rumble.
We're going to get real.
I guess been a long time.
Well, there's a long, there's always that long stretch between TLC and the Rumble.
And then there's that long stretch between the elimination chamber and WrestleMania.
And looking at the calendar, do you realize how late Easter is this year?
No, like fat Tuesdays not till mid March.
It's crazy.
It seems okay.
Let's go to POI.
POI stands for person of interest.
It is a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity.
And we debate their greatness or lack thereof.
The pendulum swings back to me this week.
This week for POI.
I want it really wanted to talk about something that we both have been witness to.
That we can truly discuss because since we're guestless,
we have to definitely be on the same page the whole show because we don't have anybody else to kind of bounce us off of.
We were hanging out in New Year's Eve because we're old and we don't like to go out.
And I'm going to say something.
Here, Bob.
Nothing wrong with that.
No, not at all.
Hang it out.
Watch and TV.
Have the greatness of Ganges Grilford dinner.
Can never go wrong with the greatness of Ganges.
Some of the best leftover she'll ever eat.
I don't know that I've ever had leftover.
Some of the things.
I just, I can't, I might don't marines.
I'm not going to leave a man behind when I'm the Ganges.
I can't do it.
But I noticed when I was in San Antonio for Christmas with my in-laws.
That they were advertising that they were going to be showing what they call big DNYE,
which is the New Year's Eve celebration they have in Victory Park here in Dallas.
Right on the south side of the American Airlines Center.
It's just a huge area.
Like a courtyard almost, right?
And they set up a couple of different stages and they have bands.
And then at midnight they have fireworks and bloody, bloody, blah.
I thought it was just a local thing, but apparently they showed all over the state.
So you think to yourself, well, if they're going to show this all over the state,
you really want to represent our fair city well.
You want to make sure, I mean, I'm not saying you're going to get Johnny Depp.
I'm not saying you're going to get done Henley.
I'm not saying you're going to get Nora Jones.
But at least have a fair showing.
At least represent this town well.
Big DNYE for the second year in a row has not done that, Joe.
Now, let me frame this by saying, they have about four different bands that play.
They have a DJ.
And one of the bands that plays there is something they call the Chevrolet Fast Track to fame or something.
That's sponsored by Texas Motor Speedway.
And they had, they said they had over 10,000 entries of musical acts that if you won this contest,
you get to play a big DNYE.
Keep that in mind, 10,000.
Now, Grace D hasn't rehearsed in about a month.
I texted Ken Belcher or guitarist.
And I said, dude, if this is the bar, we could play this thing right now and blow the roof off the place.
Just me and him, acoustic.
And we haven't practiced in a month.
This was horrible.
Because I mean, fast track to fame.
Nah.
I mean, they had last year's winners, a green river ordinance, I think, is their name.
They weren't bad.
They weren't great.
But they're not on any fast track to fame, not by this show.
And then they had this other group.
This, this, it was a girl's name.
I don't know if their monitor system wasn't working.
Oh, with the lead singer that was like singing in a different key.
And the girl had the big bass drum.
Here, here, I think they're two problems with that.
I think one, there was, there was a problem with the monitor system.
They're had to have been.
Because there were times when when the rhythm was off.
Two, I think she was fighting Lairn Gidus.
And she was actually pushing her voice harder to try to compensate for it.
Uh-huh.
And that's what was pushing her so far.
Because she was out of key.
She was so far out of key.
She was almost back in it.
And I'm not one to criticize.
Because I know what it takes to put on a show.
I know what it takes.
It's very, it's a lot of work.
And you don't ever want to let somebody down.
You want to go out there and you want to give your best.
But this was bad.
Okay, that band from Houston.
With the chick that looked like, uh, Esperanza Spalding.
Oh, they were bad too.
A great green river ordinance was there.
They were from 930 to 1030.
And they didn't play a couple of tunes on there.
Because a lot of the musical accept was pre-recorded, which was weird for me.
And I don't know if they mentioned this on the broadcast.
But the one you're talking about, the one that was so far out she was back in.
Delta Ray.
Yes.
They're from Durham, North Carolina.
They came a long way to sound like that.
And apparently they've got a video call for a song called If I Love You,
that they do with the Lindsey Buckingham.
Well, maybe he was trapped in an episode or what's up with that.
I don't know.
But in your, this was bad.
Your DJ was DJ Rope Harris.
I do.
And he wasn't bad.
I just didn't care.
Now, to me, he was way too.
Fuck master flex.
Circa Nitro.
Aeris.
All up in your area.
Stop it.
Don't really stop it.
Let it go.
You're gonna get me fired up.
But that's what it was.
That's all he was.
Oh, no.
There's a lot of section is arena.
No, you don't.
You know, and this guy was, you know what?
Time in it.
But Delta Ray.
Yeah, we know what time it is.
Time to put on some headphones and blast your iPod to whatever else.
They're going to drown this band out.
It's sad.
I mean, as, as rich as the musical heritage is not just in Dallas,
but the state of Texas.
Well, right down the street is deep Ellen for God's sake.
You couldn't pull the band from one of the bars down there?
Or, or get somebody to come up from.
Oh, I don't know Austin.
Ugh.
You're going to go to Durham, North Carolina for the out of tune.
Band Delta Ray.
Come on.
And God bless them.
I mean, they, they were really trying to put it out there.
But this was bad.
And it was all over Facebook.
Some of the people that I was that I was following conversations with the, like,
Dear Lord, what did they get these people?
And then, like, the people from our local ABC affiliate.
When your biggest celebrity is a kid that had a bar mitzvah video on YouTube last year?
Let's face it.
Your biggest celebrities were the hosts of this thing, probably.
And we had the guys that throw basketballs into hoops from the top of towers,
which they really didn't because the other guys moved it around anyway.
Like, how is that that big if an accomplishment?
Yeah, okay.
You've got it in the area, which is still in, I don't think I could do that.
Somewhere Ryan's secret was like, and you guys are complaining about the job.
I'm doing it.
This was horrible.
I mean, it's nice to have our own show with local flavor and everything.
But it was just, and if it was just a local thing, this wouldn't bother me.
But to know that this is being broadcast in other markets.
I mean, would it surprise you if this went carried up in the Oklahoma?
I would cry if it was out of state.
I would, but would you, would it surprise you?
It wouldn't surprise me, but it wouldn't make me happy.
New.
Because we're already fighting stereotype.
Yes, town.
And as good as this thing can be with the presentation that they have.
And there were people that were talking later.
So I might go check this out next year and I'm like, okay, you watched the show, right?
That was like, have you watched this whole thing?
Because this is pretty bad.
And there were like, oh, that was the thing.
I'm like, yeah.
And the way this thing works, as the weather happens every year in this deal, I'm out.
Too unpredictable.
I just, I couldn't know.
It just out.
I like to be warm and comfortable.
And over your time.
If I'm going to be tortured, I want to be tortured at least at a climate controlled in fire.
Exactly.
And you already have the stars playing every new year's Eve.
So you have to deal with that traffic, too.
Now I'm sure the fireworks looked great.
I mean, they look great on TV.
Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that, oh, my God.
Does that not click with you?
No, I just don't hear you.
Do you remember the interview the guy that was like,
I mean, he was obviously a little intoxicated.
But no.
He was like, oh, he was just a star's game.
Who's I just hanging on board here?
Why would they do, you know, of all the places that they could do this?
It makes the most sense to do it.
It'd be a great place.
But Russ is joining us.
He says, we should host it.
I am on somebody book this.
If y'all can string that together.
I'm in.
Let us do like an alternate commentary track.
Let us sit like in like in a, in a, in one of the channel like sweet.
Like right inside the studio overlooking everything.
Batman on New Year's.
Oh.
Talk about big DNY.
We put the big and big.
Yeah.
Well, careful.
Yeah.
Um.
This was just so horrible.
And I just, you know, I live in this town.
I take pride in living in this town.
You know, I, I would like to say that my formative years and adult years have been spent
in two of the greatest cities in this country being Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Dallas, Texas.
I am proud to say I've lived in both.
But it's just man.
You're not helping.
You were surrounded by elderly and one and surrounded by our.
Branded redness.
See, Hawks will host the Saints on Saturday.
I'm not known.
Next Sunday at three thirty five central.
Hope you had a nice year.
See.
I just, that just came across the wire.
Okay.
We need to move on.
We are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
Let's do a little music talk and they nether via condios.
She's we got one pretty much every major category during this show tonight.
See, the other one I couldn't remember.
So I may have to rely on you for that one.
Yeah.
Just have this music queue to firm for movie talk.
It just.
Whenever I think about this group, there's one song that I always think about.
And then they had a lot of great hits.
But Phil Everley dies the other day at 73 years old.
And you think about this song.
But there's two, actually.
But this one always the one that comes to me first.
This one, you know, I'm gonna play the other one too.
But this is the one that always hits me first.
Okay. I'm waiting to see what your next one is.
I mean, because there's three to kind of mind, this is one.
Phil was the younger of the two, Donna's two years older.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois.
Their father was a musician who played with people like Murl Travis.
Kennedy Jones.
It was honored by the four legends fountain in Drake's Pearl Kentucky.
He had a show on the radio in Shenandoah, Iowa.
I mean, there was a time where you couldn't throw a rocket.
Not hit some of these guys were doing.
Yeah.
In the late 50s and early 60s.
I'm telling you, my whenever they did their HBO concert in the 80s.
No, I don't remember.
Oh, my gosh.
It's like that's when their popularity researched.
Well, they got back to, they split up.
And then we went solo from 73 to 83.
In 1983, they had a reunion concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
That's it.
Is that the one they showed on HBO?
Mm-hmm.
Oh, wow.
And my dad watched it religiously.
They're final country music hit was born yesterday in 1986.
And then, uh, Don Sun Eden would often join them to play guitar in this time.
It's just, you hate to be old man, robber, old man, Chad, but it just don't make music like this.
Well, because they don't make music hardly anymore.
It's not a rush.
Just put the chat room the other one.
I've got cute up.
Um, let's just go ahead and kill it.
Put it play it.
Still not one I would expect you to have played for the really good occasion.
Yep.
Which one were you thinking of?
Dream.
Oh, I have to do his dream.
Yeah.
We'll see.
I have another version of that.
Um, done by Linda Rons that can Kermit the Frog.
It's very good.
From the Kermit unpicked album.
Ha ha ha.
No, no, no, it's true story.
I love it.
I don't doubt it.
That's a great album, Kermit unpicked.
Miss Piggy and Ozzy doing Born to be wild.
What else do you need?
Don't say it.
George Benson and the Rats doing on Broadway.
Be kidding me.
God.
Ganzo and Jimmy Buffett doing Mr Spaceman.
So great.
Okay, now I gotta go find this thing.
I have that.
Okay.
You probably haven't.
But to lose one of the average brothers.
That's a big thing.
It's one of those.
Like you always like to quote,
you get to a certain age where God starts giving
and he starts taking away.
Yep.
And we are at that point where people that we remember
from when we were kids are leaving this mortal coil.
Mm-hmm.
And it's so strange.
Like we'll be missed.
Like fairly recently, I was watching these
icons of television.
I'm seeing all these people that are being interviewed
and they are long in the tooth.
Yeah.
And I was like, you know, there's a bunch of people
that were on these shows in the 80s that I love.
Several of them have left us already.
And I'm like, and you're looking at it.
A lot of their co-stars and they don't look like
they're going to be a much longer.
Just such great music.
You will be Mr.
Oh, yeah.
One of the very few samples that Pete puffed
Diddy Daddy did right from a horrible soundtrack.
But Jimmy Page and the interview says this week
that this year that Led Zeppon is going to reissue
Led Zeppon's one two and three with the bonus desks.
Friend of the show.
Very close friend to this show.
Wendy Gary Belton is going to have a conniption.
She's a huge Zeppon fan.
I'm good.
Anytime you want to give me more Zeppon,
I'm good.
Just do the reissue.
Just do her for the love of God.
Just do her.
Seeing that footage from the O2.
I was in New York.
I was in Brooklyn at a days in.
And I just showed about two minutes of it.
And I was just like,
Oh, what is this going to be available?
And it's at, do you ever get it?
I haven't gotten it yet.
It's a whole money thing.
But yes, it was the footage was brilliant.
And you know, of course,
they're going to remaster it.
It's going to sound amazing.
It's going to be surprising.
They do some kind of a five one mix on it too.
And those are so rare.
I wish they would do more of those.
Because I've got a handful of you.
I think I've got a couple of them.
Like sealed it.
And like, when did the Michael do one?
I don't know if he did a five one mix on thing.
I've got it.
But I don't think he did a five one mix.
Uh, but, uh,
DePesh did it on all of their reek remastery issues back in.
I was at 06.
I think it was 06.
You're lovely wife who's there British descent joined us as well.
Hello, dear.
Let's move on to another interesting story.
Love this song.
Alicia Keys is ending her partnership with Blackberry.
I didn't know she really had one because I didn't either.
Everything I've seen her done.
And especially it's been documented.
She's still using her iPhone.
But that company's in all kinds of that company almost got bought out this year.
Did she end it with them or did they end it with her?
They end it with her.
I think it was a mutual decision.
She's like, I'm married to Swiss beats.
What am I worried about?
Dude looks his song.
But that company is, I mean, Blackberry apparently was supposed to release their their
phone that was supposed to compete with the iPhone this year and they kept delaying delaying
and almost got bought out by a company overseas.
I'm just, I've never been a big Blackberry fan.
Even when they were the thing, I just wasn't a big fan.
I tried one for a while and it just didn't jive with me.
And it news that makes you go.
Actually, we're going to do that one after this one.
Music talks a big chunk of the show tonight.
That was right.
That's good.
Ray and Dave Davies said they are up for a King's reunion this year because it's going to be their
50th anniversary.
Let that sing.
Awesome.
God.
2014 marks 50 years since the King's got up and running.
Oh my God.
I'd be in for it.
Friend of the show Chris Reynolds a big fan of these boys.
Like he would totally dig it.
Sometimes I just get caught up in the music that even I know it's coming and I get caught up in it.
And then in a couple of stories that are going to make you go, I'm sorry.
Amy Lee is suing wind up records of Evan Essence saying they've held over a million dollars
and hurt their popularity.
You know what hurt the popularity of Evan Essence?
Amy Lee fire in everybody else in replacing him.
So nobody still cares.
Kind of like Paramore.
How about that workout?
No, I have said on this show that as long as you have the lead singer it can still be that man.
But when you have their first two albums following the open door worms.
Rock solid albums.
When the product is bad, you only think your hurtness yourself.
Yeah, look at the mirror.
That's the cause of your of your woes.
Now if someone's holding out cash then yeah, I'd want to go after somebody.
But as we saw and you were with me, but I watched the TLC story.
Well, as we saw on the Drew thing.
What happened to him?
Yeah, Drew shoes in great documentary.
Gosh, highly advised anybody that's a child.
Through the man behind the poster.
It's on the Netflix instance you go check it out.
If you're a child of the 80s, watch this thing.
And the Niners beat the Packers 23 to 20.
Phil Dawson 33 yard field goal as time expires.
So the Niners break the streak of the team with less wins winning the game.
But they also break the streak this weekend.
And the other three teams behind and half time winning the game.
Crazy weekend.
Love football.
But it's fun to watch.
Yes, sir.
It is.
No, wait.
And that's the last NFL game for the weekend.
That is correct.
Dawson says the Depesh mode remixes was released on October 25, 2004.
Really?
It's called Depesh.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
They remastered each individual album.
At least.
Kind of like General Genesis did, but they put it in.
I think so.
But it's like one disc is a CD.
One disc is a DVD and that's your five one mix.
A DTS five one mix at that.
Now this next story may not be for what we call our demographic.
But we report the news kids.
If you're playing it on spending.
2500 bucks for this Britney Spears VIP meet and greet package in Vegas.
Don't.
Because apparently people that have gone out there and this is.
This is an actual quote from somebody who was there.
And you know, I don't quote it on this show very much, but I had to get this right.
Fans were told not to hug or touch Britney without her permission.
And they weren't allowed to bring her any gifts.
And then once they finally got to meet her, it was smile.
Take a photo goodbye.
Does that sound like it's worth too?
And you got a front row seat to the show.
I don't know if I'd want to sit at the show at that point.
Right.
Now at that point.
The.
The broth is spoiled.
And this is one of the things.
And obviously we're going to.
I was thinking about this last night.
And I was thinking to myself.
If Grace D ever got to a point where people would want to do a VIP meet and greet package for us.
I think the way I'd want to do it was.
The price of your ticket.
You know, that covers the operating costs of the show and the to use the arena and whatnot.
Right.
Anything above that.
I wouldn't want to donate to a charity or something because.
You want to pay that much money.
Just to meet me.
That's just weird to me.
Yeah.
And why would I charge you that much money to meet me?
Have you seen me?
I mean, come on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I've seen.
I'm seeing you right now.
I'm just saying.
To meet your because something a Kevin Smith is all as said for years.
He never wants to meet when Grace gives.
Because he's afraid that the image of him that he has will be shattered.
And I understand that logic.
Well, after his Bruce Willis and Prince experience.
They're point.
But you're going to pay 2500 bucks.
And that VIP experience lasts less time.
And it took me to say the sentence.
Unless I'm going to take you to write the check.
Shame on Britney Spears is people.
Yep.
Shame on Britney.
We're assuming she's the one that I don't know.
Whoever's response before shame on you.
Well, but if you're the celebrity that they're coughing up this money for.
You can go the extra mile and spend more than three seconds with smile.
Thank you.
Bye bye.
And it's true that it was just a lot of thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Yeah.
I was like, you know how much these people are paying for this.
Don't act like you don't.
Yes.
Very upset about that.
I didn't realize the people.
Bull.
Bull.
If I know it.
And I found it on the internet.
You can too.
Yeah.
It's about you.
You know this.
That just don't play the naive card on this.
It's just.
You're Britney Spears.
Get over yourself.
It's all I'm saying.
Like, I, there's, I don't know if there's anybody that I would excuse that for.
Nope.
I don't care who you are.
If somebody's paying 2,500 bucks of their hard earned money.
I'm not saying you got to have dinner with them.
But I mean, if you've seen the hospitality packages that kids does, those guys do it right.
Yeah.
Spend the time.
I mean, because they do.
Spend the time hanging out.
You know, listen to them.
Tell you how you've changed their lives.
Yeah.
I don't know.
What's it going to hurt?
Like, I know, I hate to bring him up again.
Because I see him like always doing things like this.
But when Prince first started the NPG music club, he actually had made it mean something.
Made it something special.
He let the fans in, you know, participate in the sound checks and actually do a Q&A.
You know, that's what she should be doing.
It wasn't really informative the way he answers questions.
Well, because that's, you know, you got to know what your father is.
He talks in riddles.
Yeah.
Keshia has entered a 30 day rehab for an eating disorder that she is now saying was prompted
by her producer.
God by the name of Dr. Luke.
Basically, she was filming a video and she's, sorry to talk about how she was the size
of her refrigerator.
Oh, geez.
I'm having Bieber flashbacks again.
So she's entered a 30 day rehab for Indian soldiers and she just has to get back to
loving her for her again.
And I like the Keshia.
Although I do remember seeing a picture of her recently.
People were like, Oh, my God.
That's Keshia.
Where she was coming out of the water.
She was wearing like a black bathing suit or something.
And she looked.
She did not look like the Keshia that you know.
You could never tell.
She's kind of lucky.
She doesn't know that one of those.
Don't do the whole bit thing.
You're a pretty girl.
Yeah, got talent.
Go out and sing.
You wouldn't.
The goddess.
I wouldn't say the goddess.
Hot, but the goddess a pretty girl.
She doesn't need the meat suit.
Just go out and do the song.
She's got talent.
It drives me crazy.
She wants to be a performance artist.
Not just an artist.
Not just a singer.
In news that makes me go.
Ice cube.
Analysis at his brand new album.
Everything's corrupt.
And that is THANG.
We'll be released on May 13th of this year.
This cube need to do another album.
Let me think.
No.
I mean, I like you.
I do.
I just.
Your street cred has been evaporated.
Go back about 20 years cube.
That ain't you now, brother.
It's so sad.
It's so sad.
When I when I think back to when I first joined the Navy in 89 and W.A. was first hitting.
Well, they they they'd already hit the scene by this one.
But here's my thing with that though.
You know who's the worst example of that.
Drey.
Yeah, you're right.
You go back and you look at the L.A.
Dream team.
And then you look at N.W.A.
He ended the cabbage patch.
I'm just saying.
And I love Doctor Drey.
I'm a huge Doctor Drey fan.
Uh, someday we'll get that album.
What rehab rehab.
If it ever happens.
But to see him in his.
Gold lemme jump suit and then go to his Raiders gear.
It was like really dry.
Well, but that was bless you.
That was a change for the better.
At least it didn't happen the other way around.
It's a fair point.
Hammer.
Um.
I'm sorry.
I was thinking a lot again.
It's just so weird when you go back because you're still doing that N.W.A. movie,
which I will go see.
But.
But have you seen one of those that's impressed you?
One.
One of the notorious did nothing for you, right?
The tourists is not good at all.
The hammer documentary they did on VH1 was a joke.
Um.
They're the way they represented Tupac and that thing was laughable.
I don't know if we're going to get.
A definitive hip hop.
Biop.
I'll give it a spin.
Because that.
That's who this greatest hits is amazing.
Because it has all of their group stuff and all their solo stuff.
That's what I'm looking for.
Okay.
Okay.
I keep asking you for it.
Well, hey now.
Let's talk about your leader for a minute.
Yeah, I read this earlier.
Actually, I read it last night.
That he is quote unquote likely to tour the UK in 2014 with multiple dates.
Here's the thing.
I will.
I will hand this off to you as I take a sip of my tasty beverage.
Apparently he was really up on the idea of.
Playing in smaller venues because of his.
Gangbusters performance that he did at the South by Southwest.
Music festival in Austin where he played in front of like 300.
And apparently it was amazing.
Yeah.
So he was really up on that idea.
But he were like, uh, uh, prints.
Okay.
These places are going to sell out in 2.5 seconds.
I mean, he still say what, you know, we can say what we want to.
Anybody can say what they want to about him as far as being a.
A businessman or the fact that his music isn't nearly as engaging as it was.
You know, even 10 years ago.
But even 10 years ago it was getting kind of boring.
Yeah.
Um, but he can still pack a house.
A big big house.
And a big big yard where we can play football.
That's a different song.
Yeah.
Um, my question is, where's the devil state?
Uh, probably in 270.
He has not played here since you went with your father.
Oh, four for music college.
It's been 10 years.
And I wasn't at that one.
That was the one before it.
Mm-hmm.
That's ridiculous.
But I can say I've seen him live.
So I'm okay with that.
Yeah.
I mean, I'd like to see him again.
Don't get me wrong.
But I can say I've seen him.
Yeah.
You can't say you've seen him with the, at a decent show.
Mm-hmm.
With a wonderful opening act of.
Great.
Wait a minute.
Station.
Before we knew about that whole thing.
Oh, we knew about it.
We know we knew about a base cello that went on for 15 minutes.
It's Larry Graham walked around the arena.
And another news of another favorite of chads.
I don't know about this.
I like this song.
Oh, okay.
I like this song.
This guy's a wacko.
Morrissey says he has no interest in the Smiths reunion.
But everybody else was like, yeah, we'll do it.
But I can't do it.
Do it if he don't want to do it.
So he's now the axle rose of this myth.
He said it ain't going to happen.
He's such a twirl.
What do you got going on Morrissey besides health problems?
That wouldn't, that you could, you could do a one off.
He says, I think he is now to the, of the age where he just likes taking people.
You know where it is.
He heard the goblas version of the song and realized he didn't do it as well.
He realized what's in the because of what's the point.
Exactly.
Somebody, what was it?
Love hate love.
What was it?
Oh, darn it.
Somebody, they cover of this.
Because I was such a fan of it.
I just want to just, let's just compare.
Listen to this.
I've always found him to be a whiny and jodely anyway.
Yodely.
The slim, whiny.
The slim, whiny of all rock.
And where's my goblas reunion, Joe?
That was just me six months ago.
Well, apparently Doc says he has no interest in the goblas.
I will punch him in a mouth.
This is so cool.
And this is how they used to open their shows with this.
I mean, I went to that one.
And it was great, this.
Now to be fair, you probably need to chew a piggy hippie chick by itself.
Same song.
Somebody did a cover of this for some 80s fiend movie.
And if I want to blank, it's to who did it.
I want to say it was love spit love or something like that.
That probably went out of time.
It was really cool.
Got this.
No.
Okay.
Oh, because I got the karaoke version by the Smiths.
Yeah, I don't have until those are the versions I have.
Now let's go to the other side of the spectrum.
Clay Aiken is rumored to run for Congress in North Carolina's second district
as a Democrat.
Now a lot of people, and this comes from entertainment weekly's website,
a lot of people are saying that this is not far fetched for him.
He was on our senior hall recently and very eloquent.
Our senior asked him some of some questions about some issues that were happening in the day.
I think the people were saying very eloquent, very educated.
Oh, found it.
Found it.
It was love spit love.
And it was for the soundtrack for the craft.
Oh, okay.
I got that on Instagram.
That's the second time for Ruse of Infruz of bulk.
It's done.
It's come up in the last week.
But Clay Aiken running for Senate.
And that's Senate in Congress.
He didn't say which version.
But he's running for Congress in North Carolina's second district.
Rumor.
Not he's actually, but he's actually hired people, pollsters,
that have worked for people like Al Gore.
To see if this is a viable thing.
So he's at least serious enough to look into it.
I like the cat.
I've got nothing against him, but I think he's overextending his reach here.
You never know.
Strange.
Jesse Ventura was governor.
Al Franken was in Congress.
And there was always the governor in California.
Only one new release musically this week and it's from this guy.
Who's now on this show for the second or third straight week.
Peter Gabriel has a brand new album coming out Tuesday called Endal Scratch Yours.
So was his previous album called and scratch my back or something?
I have no idea.
See now I got to find this out.
Still out there getting it done.
It's all I'm saying.
Is he still with the art kit?
Ah, I can either confirm or deny that.
Well, our fact checker can always look into this.
But you're a wife who's a British just that was asking about you.
Oh, Russ says love split love was also uncharmed.
And you know who played the DJ in the club on Charmed?
No.
The bastion of acting known as Ralph Garmin.
Oh god.
And I didn't realize this that love split love is a splinter group from the psychedelic first.
Oh really?
Love my way.
Oh god.
That's my psychedelic first.
It's not very good.
Only they also used it in the trailer for crew intentions as well.
And tattooed you to cover of this.
tattooed you did a cover of this.
No, no of of of of of of how soon is now.
Okay.
Is that are those are the Russian chicks?
The Russian sisters quote unquote.
Yeah.
I'm just like whatever.
Who's there?
I've almost like 500 kilometers in the wrong direction or something.
tattoo.
Yeah.
And remember they were supposedly like romantically involved as well as being sister?
Oh.
Don says Alfred can currently is a senator.
Not as not as he quote.
As he quote to be was in the congress.
Let's talk a little bit of NBA.
No honey.
I don't think he's running out of money.
He's just desperate for more attention.
He's trying to get us straight.
Yeah.
Your wife is ever interested in accessing about ice cube.
Yeah.
I think he's just trying to get a straight credit back after doing so many ridiculous
G-rated movies.
NBA standings right now on the Pacific Division.
Sacramento 11 games out of first place.
They've lost their last two.
They are four or three and a half games worse than Los Angeles.
Phoenix and Golden State.
Phoenix is only their third in the division.
But they're a game out of first place.
Golden State is a half game behind the clippers right now.
The leakers are in fourth.
I'm going to put that out there.
In the northwest division.
You saw 16 and a half games out.
Let me put this in perspective for you.
We have played 33 games.
We're not even at the halfway point yet.
And Utah is 16 and a half out.
God.
But you have to remember who they're in a division with.
Denver is six games better than the Minnesota's 10 out of Portland.
Who everybody was going who are the Portland Trailblazers.
They are a half game behind Oklahoma City.
Who right now is 26 and 7.
In the southwest division.
Memphis 10 and a half games out.
New Orleans to half game better than them.
Your Dallas Mavericks who are 6 and 4 in their last 10 are only 6 and a half out.
They're in the middle of the pack.
Houston 4 and a half behind San Antonio right now.
And you know what you can't say much for.
I mean, your Dallas Mavericks, your point differential right now.
Between the amount of points you're giving up average versus scoring.
It's less than 2 point difference.
And now you look at somebody like San Antonio who's at almost 8.
But it's San Antonio.
The NBA's nursing home just keeps getting it done.
The Jurassic.
Uh, Russ says Peter Gabriel dated Rosanna Arquette but they never married.
Really?
That's what Russ is saying in general.
So they dated so they're not together anymore.
I guess not.
In the Eastern Conference Atlantic division,
the New York Nicarbuckers.
6 and a half out.
Philly's won 4 straight but they're still 5 games out.
Brooklyn in the middle of the pack.
Boston who's lost 3 straight is 4 games behind Toronto.
The Toronto Raptors are a game above 500 and leading the division after winning 5 straight games.
The Raptors.
From Toronto.
I'm Canadian.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.
In the Central Division.
Millawokeeth.
19 and a half out.
They're 7 and 26.
Cleveland.
15 and a half out.
Detroit in the middle of the pack.
The Chicago Bulls.
Now are 12 games behind the Indiana Pacers.
Yeah.
Indiana's on fire.
They're 26 and 6.
They've won.
They're only on one game winning streak though.
And in the southeast division Orlando who has lost 3 straight is 15 games out of first place right now.
Charlotte.
It's 4 games ahead of them.
Washington.
Two and a half up on them.
Atlanta now 7 and a half back on the Miami Heat.
Who are 25 and 8 there?
11 and 5 on the road.
14 and 3 at home.
So the defending champs.
Not slowing down.
Oh, oh by the way.
Yes sir.
I did do a little research.
I know I keep going.
Okay.
He is married.
Not to rose in our kid.
He's got two kids with the woman.
And not with rose in our kid, but with the woman.
He's married to now.
And he did have an album in 2010 called scratch my back.
Oh, there you go.
Fair enough.
You are listening to the clubhouse podcast.
We are on the air live every Sunday night.
70's are in for Pacific.
If you missed any section of the show.
One thing you can do is listen on our archive.
As a few of you did last week, we appreciate that.
The other thing you can do is subscribe to this show on iTunes.
That way you can listen to it anytime you want.
No matter where you want on your portable device.
And you're going to get stuff that not everybody gets.
And it gives it to you without you even having to ask for it.
That's right.
I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
But still.
If you're subscribed.
You obviously want to hear it.
So, hey.
Let us combine those sports and entertainment as we talk professional wrestling.
Jackson puts out a statement this week saying he has had now his third surgical procedure
in four years.
And in two weeks, he will start rehab to get himself back in shape.
He is still on a very, very optimistic about getting back in the ring.
I like the dude.
I missed the dude.
I want the dude back.
He brought something that we need back.
But I don't know if there's going to be a real place for him in this.
In this.
In this.
In the way it's structured now.
How do you bring him back?
Do you bring him back heel?
Well, I'm not worried about it right now because he's.
I need to see where the business is at when he's ready to go.
I mean, the business could be in a completely different place than it is right now.
Yeah.
It just seems like we're so heel heavy now.
Now I think we need another monster heel.
The Hogan rumors still persist as it pertains to WrestleMania 30.
Now the rumors inside are saying that Hogan may not be able to pass the company required physical.
But if we put him in a six man, there's not as much of a physical demand on him so we can still wrestle.
So now we're talking.
Hogan's senior Daniel Bryan versus the Wyatt's.
Now you're probably saying yourself, wait a minute, Rob.
After Rob this week, we're going to talk about that here in a minute.
Also rumored to have Piper involved as well as an homage to WrestleMania 1.
Hmm.
I'm a heel side.
I just don't know if Piper in this day and age works as a heel.
No, he doesn't.
He's Piper.
And he's been ever since he's been.
Showing back up time and time again.
He hasn't worked in a heel capacity.
So there is that.
That'd be a stretch.
Also.
Oh, that may be all the raw headlines.
I have it.
I have the run.
The run.
Thank you.
But I don't know why.
I do this all the time.
All those drugs you've been taken.
Well, there's that.
I'm going to do that.
Well, right your brain.
Let's talk about Rob for a minute.
You did not get to watch Rob this week.
No.
We came over here to watch him.
We never got around to watching him.
We got stuck into watching the NYE debacle.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
That's what I was saying.
You can watch.
You can start riding time now, sir.
Please.
Please.
We had to make it to midnight.
We could have made it to midnight.
Watching raw.
It's very important.
So in a little bit that you missed.
Barrett now has a hydraulically lift podium.
And it sits.
If you're looking at the tron.
It sits to the right of the.
Of the ramp up against the stage.
It elevates and probably 1015 feet in the air so he can do his bit now and everybody can see him.
Why?
And I said, you know what?
That's what it was missing.
It's not the fact that the bit doesn't work.
So bit nobody cares about.
Oh.
That's since Nexus has just gotten even remotely relevant.
No matter how hard they've tried to push him.
And Triple H introduces the return of a WWE superstar.
And he's declared himself the number one contender after the Royal Rumble.
Wouldn't that be the person that wins the freaking Rumble?
I would think.
But is this him?
Abusing his power again?
I guess he's just going to take on the champion elimination chamber.
Which tells me scene is going to have to win.
Although the plan is for Randy to carry the belt in the WrestleMania.
Does Lesnar, I mean, you'd have to turn Randy.
Because Lesnar's not going to work face.
And the general public can't handle a heel versus heel.
Main event at a paper view.
Surely can.
The general public can.
You and I can.
But I think the average wrestling fan does not want heel versus heel.
I don't think that holds anything.
You've got to have good guy versus bad guy.
I don't think so necessarily.
You just have a really hard time figuring out who you're going to root for.
Who do you hate the least?
And rest as we talked about on the show last week, take her is scheduled for WrestleMania,
and Michelle McCool is still talking about her comeback.
Really?
Yeah.
The divas division needs anything you can get right now.
And Jojo Offerman's still not on TV with the cast of total divas.
I don't know what's going on there.
It's very strange for me.
And another interesting deal.
Three matches on Raw took up half the show.
Just three.
Took up half the show.
Took up half the show.
Took up half of a three hour Raw.
Three matches took up an hour and a half a time.
Wow.
That's.
And two of them were tag matches.
But boy, they worth a darn.
I mean, it was.
It was.
I find your lack of enthusiasm to stir.
It was.
It was.
It was possible.
I mean, for for the standard that Raw has set for itself in the last four or five months.
It was possible.
I'm looking for something better than.
Yeah.
Which does.
And at the end of Raw.
Daniel Bryan in order to get his shot at Bray Wyatt has to beat Rowan and Harper, which he does.
But then gets to beat down by all three.
And Daniel Bryan decides he's just going to be a member of the Wyatt family because the machine is designed so he can't win.
And he's now.
Where.
Where are we going?
The only thing I can figure here.
This is going to last about as long as CM Punk's first heel turn in ECW when he joined the new blood for a week.
Is this one of those things where you.
Get in to burn it down from the inside.
Well, it's going to go tell Lee's WrestleMania.
He's going to be the.
This bit's going to go at least the rest of many, but he.
If we're talking about him and his six man tag with Hogan and Sina, he's going to have to turn sooner or less.
I see.
Daniel Bryan's going to do to the Wyatt family.
What you think Hogan's been doing to TNA all the way.
I know that Hogan's been doing to TNA.
That's what they're going with.
Proving me wrong.
Oh, I'm it's it all makes sense.
And literally that's all the notes I have from raw.
That's how bad raw what?
And I missed it.
Darn it.
But was it a bit, but it's still better than watching.
NYU Dallas 2014.
That might be a toss outside.
That might be a pick up.
It's a push.
It might be a pick up.
I might be a pick up.
Owl snow.
Now the head agent of TNA after Jeff Jarrett's departure.
I don't know if I should say congratulations or I'm sorry.
Good luck with that.
But here's the other problem.
The TNA's got right now.
Right now they can't secure any 2014 dates in Orlando.
Really?
Because this week's episode was taped.
They taped four or three or four weeks of impact at one time in mid December.
Because now they're going to Huntsville, Alabama for Genesis next week.
And they're going to do a couple of three weeks tapings there.
And then they're going to Europe.
But when they get back, they have no home in Orlando.
Because that sounds like a spooked.
Yeah.
So we don't know if impact is going to have to go back on the road.
Or if they're going to find a different home.
Full sale.
The university's got room.
Does anyone see left there?
Just saying.
Also Lockdown has been set for March 9th.
I've not said where yet.
They're expecting to announce it at the Genesis taping next week.
It just man.
This thing just keeps going the wrong direction.
Yeah.
It truly, truly does.
But we'll talk about impact here for just a minute.
Holy crap.
That crowd was dead.
It's an impact crowd.
No, I mean, it was bad.
I had flashbacks to end WA World Championship Wrestling on Saturday night when they did it in the TBS studio.
They're like 30 people there.
That crowd was livelier than the few hundred they had.
And when Dixie's cutting her little promo and she's standing in front of a sign.
And if you read the sign behind her, it talks about it being Nickelodeon Studios.
You might want to back up a couple of steps.
That happened.
That happened, sir.
Oh, man.
I would give anything.
I don't want to see if someone did a screen grab of it.
Oh, is your God.
And.
And after she cuts her promo, a career brings things to see you tonight.
You cannot build a sense of mystery within your show if you taped it three weeks ago.
No.
There's no mystery left in that.
And we have the ring ring debut of Samuel Shaw.
This guy's been in some vignettes with Christy Hemi.
It's like.
It's like Dexter meets Crispin Glover.
It's where we're going.
It's very he wears gloves.
Oh, God.
Very OCD.
He's obsessed with her.
But it was great though when they introduced him and they've got the lights in the video.
And he's walking to the ring.
And there's a guy in the audience right on the corner.
Dead center of the camera.
yells,
Who are you?
I lost it.
I was like, okay.
That's funny.
Oh, my.
How can we, how is it we never saw this?
It's a, it's a mock up summer slam poster from from last year's summer slam.
Okay.
And it is a mashup of the Avengers and Man of Steel.
Oh.
Lesner is Hulk.
Loki is Brian.
Fury is is Hayman.
Cena is Superman.
And CM Punk is Wolverine.
Nice.
I'm going to turn around so you can actually see it.
And I want to send the note out to Dexter Carter while you're doing that.
When you're actually getting heel heat.
You might want to take a little bit of time.
That is kind of cool.
You might because it was in LA too, so.
You might want to take a little bit of time and work with the heel heat.
Instead of just trying to power through your scripted promo.
She was actually getting heel heat.
And could have worked the crowd off it.
But she just kept going on her little scripted promo.
I think she's terrified in front of the mic.
She should be because it's a horrible bit.
Yeah, it is.
I was like, let me get, let me get out there.
Same on piece and then get the heck off before I could put me screw it up.
And so we have the crowning of Magnus as champion, right?
Somewhere in America.
Nigel McGinnis needs to sue for gimmick infringement.
Because that's what Nigel McGinnis got from ROH.
Great heel.
And Magnus is doing nothing but rip him off.
And watching Magnus, she got to think somewhere,
Barrett's going, so you're saying there's a chance.
And I don't know how to say this last bit for impact, but to have to say it.
There's a lot of things wrong with impact.
But can we take away the hashtag and the upper left corner that says impact live?
It hasn't been alive in three months!
Hahahaha.
Hahahaha.
Impact live.
What was live when they filmed it?
Yeah, a month ago.
God.
I mean, it's like, are you really thinking you're flowing me?
Hahahaha.
Your results have cobwebs on it by the time you broadcast it.
Let's move back to to talk some smackdown talk.
Interesting rumors I've heard from multiple places today.
We know for a fact that the Roman Reigns face turn is coming.
It's coming.
We just don't know when just yet.
But replacing him in the shield.
They're talking Mason Ryan.
You want a big man?
Yeah.
He's an enforcer.
Not great on the stick.
But I'm on board.
He doesn't have to be the mouthpiece of the thing.
No, don't put Batista in the shield.
Why not?
You're on drugs.
Why not?
Because he's already an established superstar.
The point of the shield is these guys that the system is holding down.
So they're going off and doing it on their own.
That's the point of shield.
And Mason Ryan in the failed bit that was nexus.
I'm on board.
Rumors right now are saying CM Punk Triple H seems to be a lock for WrestleMania 30.
That they're trying to set up another summer of punk like they did three years ago.
To lead to punk Batista at SummerSlam.
I'm okay with it.
But the only problem is when to SummerSlam take place in the summer.
Where's Batista going to be this summer?
Promote money.
It's got to get out.
Because when what month is SummerSlam August?
And that's yeah.
That's right around the release date.
But I thought it wasn't July.
It's an August.
That's not a good sign.
Because August is not a good summer time.
Release time.
I mean, I'll double check.
But I'm almost positive.
It's got an August release date.
They didn't release though.
We'll talk about that more in the movie talk.
We would be remiss not to mention the flare thing today.
Yeah, Rick Flare actually in the locker room for the San Francisco 49ers.
Obviously it worked.
I mean, you know, I think those guys are like, yeah, whatever.
We're good.
August first.
Guardians of Galaxy.
There you go.
I guess that early ended.
It's not that bad.
It's not always a bad sign.
But it is unusual for them to keep a property that big for that late in the summer.
Well, I mean, if I guess if you've got, you're going to lead in with with cap.
Book in it.
Plus, you know, they still got to have a ton of post to do on that movie.
Oh, yeah.
That's fun.
The music of WWE DVD set will release March the 18th.
We talked about this a couple of weeks ago on the show.
I'm very excited.
This will be a purchase.
So is it just a DVD set or does it come with?
They're not saying.
All we know is they're going to take like 20 themes or 20 or 30 themes.
And they're going to give you the stories behind them, which I'm totally in on.
So there is that.
That would be cool if like in the bonus features.
They have the entrance videos for all of those songs.
I'm hoping that would be cool.
Let's talk a little bit.
The only thing we're going to talk about SmackDown is a huge chunk of the show was given to the
Tag division.
So maybe H really is taking this thing seriously.
More seriously than events ever took it.
I didn't time it right.
It's one of the ups and through two commercial breaks at the end of it.
But darn.
Yeah.
I usually try to time it so I can go all the way through and at the right time without
any commercial breaks.
But I did have to sit through the whole Lesnar thing again.
Which gave me a chance to go change the laundry on me.
Go resaud the lawn.
God.
I just don't care.
Lesnar does nothing for me at all on any level.
No.
It's just like we're paying the guy five million a year.
We got to do something.
Which that was the mistake to begin with.
That is big of a mistake is betting the farm on the scene.
Kara.
But.
Have rest as you can see.
Flare telling the 49ers to be the team.
You got to beat the team.
Woo.
Now that was a funny bit on Raw that you missed.
Where they were talking about because you know tomorrow night's old school
Raw.
Oh boy.
And.
H and Stephanie were talking to.
Who's the guy that's the GM now?
Of Raw.
Brad Maddox.
Brad Maddox.
And then he goes, you know that guy you wanted.
I got him.
And he goes.
Oh, you got him and he goes.
Woo.
He starts to woo with it.
Flare and H and H goes.
Seriously.
Don't do that again.
And so Brad Maddox walks away.
Just pop like it goes.
Woo.
It was pretty funny.
I laughed.
It's going to get his head ripped off.
And it was was really funny.
Was watching H try not to laugh.
What he did it.
Because Stephanie all lost it.
It was a Saturday night lifestyle style moment.
Oh, is that necessary?
No.
I mean, I think we're like, they tried it.
They're trying not to laugh, but they're laughing.
Kind of like watching Timberlake play Fallon and celebrity family.
Yeah.
He's laughing.
Man, man.
It's actually a minute.
Finally a high point on SNL.
Oh, Russ.
It's something about that.
Some of you posted.
Yeah.
I was talking a little bit about.
Little angel talk.
The winner classic happened this week.
You watched it.
And did I did.
Outstanding works sir.
Biggest crowd in NHL history 105,491 in the Big House.
It beats the previous record by over 30,000 people.
What a game this was.
Toronto wins in overtime on a shootout.
Which is the way it should happen.
Yeah.
But this isn't the only time we're going outdoors next in three weeks.
January that's 25th at Dodger Stadium.
Kings and ducks.
And there's going to be two more games played outdoors in addition to that.
It's called the outdoor tour.
Which is cool.
I'm good with that.
I like the specialness of the winter class.
But I like the fact that they want to do this more than once outdoors.
As before mentioned, Kiss will be playing in the first intermission in Dodger Stadium.
Who was that guy that was playing at the winter class?
No idea.
And here's this big deal.
And they're like, who was this?
I felt like it was New Year's Eve all over.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Somebody.
Our Samuel Shaw showed up.
Who are you?
It's like the biggest audience I will ever play in front of.
And I will still not see a spike in album sales.
Well, you might get a couple of new downloads.
Great game.
I mean, the most fun I've had watching a hockey game since the stars won the Stanley Cup.
I loved watching the 24-7s on it too.
I watched the last one today of the winter class itself.
Amazing.
But I tell you what.
Don't bring his own money to the sucker.
Just bring out a couple of guys with snow shovels.
He almost had to.
That's what they did.
It was like six guys at once, just skating in circles around the rink.
When the snow is horizontal.
The most interesting story I heard though was a woman that was trying to get back to Chicago.
Trying to catch her flight back to Chicago after the game.
And this was on a Wednesday, right?
It was on New Year's Day.
And that was Wednesday.
Okay.
And they told her that she wasn't going to be able to fly out of there.
And an armored two Chicago until Friday.
She goes, it's a four hour drive.
I'll just drive it.
I'm like, will ya?
You tried.
You might get there at the same time.
You better take a cab.
You better have great insurance.
Your current standings in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.
Edmonton.
31 points.
There are 34 points out of first place.
Calgary 34 points.
Phoenix 49.
Van Cougar.
Van Cougar.
53.
The Kings.
Van Cougar.
I can.
I can.
I have that.
The Kings at 56.
San Jose at 58.
And they are 7 points behind Anaheim.
Who is one two straight in the Western Conference Central Division.
Nashville 42 points.
They are 22 points out of first place right now.
Winnipeg is one point better than them.
Dallas has lost two straight.
They are 21 points out of first place.
I don't like this realignment of only having two divisions.
Because the problem you have when you have two divisions is you've got
17s in a division.
So you're not giving teams the chance to really.
Yeah, you're not.
Minnesota at 49 points Colorado 56 Saint Louis is three points behind the Chicago
Blackhawks who right now I believe are the best team in hockey.
In the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference in New York,
Islanders 35 points.
They are 28 points out of first place.
Columbus.
Five points better than them.
Jersey with 42 Carolina with 43 the Rangers with 44 Washington.
And Philly are tied at 46 Pittsburgh has one two straight.
They have a plus 39 goal differential.
They have 63 points.
And I believe that is the best in the league at plus 39.
That is correct.
Anaheim plus 34 Chicago plus 40.
Oh no Chicago plus 44.
Playing very well.
And in the Atlantic Division, the Buffalo sub race 28 points.
They are 30 out of first place.
My beloved Florida Panthers are 10 points better than them.
But still 20 points out.
Oder what 45 Toronto 47 Detroit 48.
They're on a one game win streak.
And that was last night against your Dallas stars.
Montreal 53 points their five points out of first place.
Tampa Bay is four points out of first place.
Both Tampa Bay and Boston are on two game win streaks.
So there's that.
Let us move on right now and get back to the entertainment part of this thing.
And go into some movie talk and then we always start with box office numbers.
Out of the top 10 this week is we give you the full weekend numbers because it's Sunday night.
We can do that.
Out of the top 10 this week.
Dropping from 9 to 11 is 47 Ronan.
Five million dollars.
It actually gained a theater count in two weeks.
It has made 32.6 million dollars.
I'm $175 million dollar budget.
Friend of the show Jim Breggle went and saw it.
He said he liked it.
And he said it's dying overseas too.
He doesn't understand because this movie should be doing really well.
Especially in Asia because there's a lot of popular actors from Asia that are in it.
Yeah.
But if it's a bad movie.
By their standards.
Also dropping out of the top 10 this week from 10 to no.
No it's up one.
I'm sorry.
I apologize.
Up one from 11 to 10 is grudge match.
5.4 million dollars.
For a two week total of 24.9 million dollars on a $40 million budget.
It actually gained 18 theaters.
Which just does not look all that great to me.
I like to see it.
I don't know if I'd pay.
But I'd like to see it.
Dropping from 8 to 9 and also losing 172 theaters is the Hunger Games Catching Fire.
7.4 million dollars.
But a seven week total of $407.5 million dollars.
And that's domestic good lord.
I mean, I'm curious.
I want to see what this thing's doing worldwide because domestic.
It's just crushing it.
Let's see.
Foreign.
Oh, I was just there.
Hold on.
Let me go back.
That was just there.
423 million.
Foreign.
Worldwide 830.9 million dollars.
It's amazing.
Billions of billions of 30 dollars going to your movie.
Dropping from 7 to 8 is the secret life of Walter MIDI 8.2 million dollars.
For a two week total of $49.7 million dollars.
It's just barely half budget.
Not a good sign for that out.
Dropping from 6 to 7 is saving Mr. Banks $9.1 million.
For a four week total of 59.3 million dollars on a $35 million budget.
Dropping from the bronze metal to sixth place as anchor man to the legend continues
11.1 million dollars losing a hundred theaters.
But still has made a hundred nine point two million dollars in three weeks on a
$15 million budget.
Respectable.
Yeah.
Quite.
Dropping from four to five.
American hustle makes 13.2 million dollars gaining 11 theaters for a four week total
of $88.7 million dollars on a $40 million budget.
Not bad.
Up from five to four is the wolf of Wall Street,
making 13.4 million dollars for a two week total of 63.3 million dollars on a
$100 million budget could get shaky.
Fundango says he thought 47 a rodent was okay.
That is the missed goals the trailer shows he'd recommended is a DVD right
on Russell said that he took a date to see saving Mr. Banks and they loved it.
So with a budget of a hundred and seventy million dollars you got to have a
little bit more than just okay.
Fair point.
Dropping from the gold metal to third.
The hobbit the desolition of smoke.
That's a hundred and ninety eight theaters this week.
Wow.
That's quick.
But still makes 16.25 million dollars for a four week total of two hundred and
twenty nine point six million dollars which reminds me we forgot our Viacun
deals in the movies.
It's coming next.
Okay.
You're going to have to do it because I couldn't remember.
Okay.
By the way, if you want to.
Worldwide grosses for the hobbit.
Oh yeah.
Oh four and it's actually doubled the money.
527 million for a worldwide total of 756.6 million dollars.
God.
And a day viewing with the silver metal this week.
Paranormal activity the mark once makes eighteen point two million dollars on a
five million dollar budget so you're going to get more because you're getting
another one anyway this year.
But the spin off tripled it's budget.
And up from the silver metal to take the gold metal this week frozen
back atop the charts twenty point seven million dollars on a hundred and
fifty million dollar budget.
It lost 17 theaters this week seven weeks two hundred and ninety seven
point eight million dollars on a one hundred and fifty million dollar budget.
Still want to see it.
It's made three forty two point one overseas for a worldwide total of six
thirty nine point nine.
This is what I'm going to wait for.
I just don't know why I can't bring myself to it.
I don't know what it is.
I've heard nothing but great.
And so have I but I just I can't bring myself to it because it's not a
Pixar film.
I don't know what it is.
But we're going to go to another art third vacuum deal.
So the evening and I will hand it over to you sir.
Some of you may not recognize the name.
But you definitely know his body of work.
We had to say a viacondes to solve Zance.
And that's Sol Zance.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He was an American film producer and he was also former record company executive
and doing my research on this.
I remember hearing about this and completely forgot about it.
That he was in a really nasty dispute with Fogretty.
Which on Fogretty over is work with Credence really.
But he's he's won the Academy Award for Best Picture three times.
And in ninety six he was awarded the Urban Geethalberg Memorial Award.
And apparently the the bad blood between him and Credence.
He was he was he was he purchased a label that they were on.
And they they bought a series of lawsuits against Fogretty.
Because in there was a lyric in the song the old man down the road.
A line goes Zance can't dance but he'll steal your money.
Oh that's who they were pointing it at.
Yeah.
But he like Fogretty bailed from the label.
And Zance lost on the copyright issue as it as they found that Fogretty wasn't liable.
So he.
Fogretty claimed the label missed lead him about investing in managing his earnings from royalties.
And as soon as Zance sold his interest in the in the label.
Fogretty immediately resigned with that label.
But he's he's one Oscars for two films that were directed by Bilo Schformin.
One flew over the cook who's nest and Ahmed Diaz.
And then he won for producing the English patient.
So the man had some skins on the way to reduce the mosquito coast.
The unbearable lightness of being.
I mean the and oh he in seventy six he acquired certain rights to.
Jay R. Tolkien's the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings.
Oh okay.
So he he was the producer whenever the whole animated phase of Hobbit and Lord of the Rings was going on.
I enjoyed this very much.
So that it was it was kind of things got kind of ugly between the Zance company.
They were trying to press legal action against Peter Jackson and Wingnut films.
When they were Lord of the Rings became such a huge success and he wasn't a part of it.
But regardless of the black eyes that he may have endured over the years for some of his.
Some would say questionable business practices.
The man definitely contributed if or no other reason.
He's got three best picture Oscars as a producer.
That's skin on the wall.
But yes he he passed away on on January 3rd at the age of ninety two.
You will be a mess sir.
It's talk geek moving news.
Interesting rumors come out this week about who might play Greenlander and John Stewart.
Okay.
At one time Romney Malco.
If you remember him he was the the African American gentleman from 40 year old version.
Was attached.
Really they got to play hammer.
Hmm.
I was going to say that.
Yes.
At one point common.
Which I'm totally on board with.
I could see that.
But now here's your rumor.
And.
I don't know.
And I don't know.
Look at how much money this guy's brought into.
Look at John Stewart.
Okay.
He's a little.
Coffee in the milk colored.
I don't.
I don't think it really at this point in this stage in the game.
I don't think it matters.
But I just don't see.
I see.
John Stewart.
I just don't see it.
Common to me is the perfect choice.
I wish.
I wish.
I wish that.
I wish that Idris Elba wasn't already playing the character.
He was playing in thork as good Lord.
I don't see it.
Just help it either.
Oh, I can.
But I've got no problem with this.
He's better than Ryan.
But that's not John Stewart.
I know.
But.
This is who I would rather my green lantern be.
I just.
I see John Stewart as a darker skin fellow.
I just do.
No.
He's the rock.
Don't give me wrong.
I'm a huge fan of Dwayne.
And I could see it.
I could see it for the college you went to.
But other than that.
Let it go.
Um.
I could see him making this role very, very fun to watch.
Also.
The budget for Batman versus Superman.
Oh, by the way, from box office numbers.
Warner Brothers is your studio winner of the year, making $5.05 billion.
Really.
If you're a Disney would run away with that one.
Especially with our.
Speaking of budgets, Batman versus Superman is going to have a budget of 131 million,
which is the biggest.
Uh, budget to be filmed in Michigan ever.
Wow.
That's a lot smaller than the Man of Steel budget.
You could probably have a lot of the same people working.
So you're not probably having to do it a whole lot of new stuff.
But still, I mean, they didn't have like a $250 million budget on that thing.
Um, you'd have to look that up for it.
It was just massive.
And we have a couple of Star Wars stories for you this week.
As we found out the other nights.
Next year, all of the comic book properties of Star Wars will refer to Disney.
Dark Horse will not have them anymore.
Which means that they will be published under what banner.
Marvel, Marvel.
Backward, all began.
We're all, I was going to say, didn't they originally?
Uh-huh.
I think I have proof of that in a long box in this.
It's a house somewhere.
As do I.
I've got, I think I've got the Jedi.
I don't think I've got the original.
I've got one too sick.
Really?
Yeah.
Nice.
I think I had them as the oversized book one.
I had that too.
I had all the, I had all the films.
I still had it.
Oh, my mom.
When I was a kid.
I've always been very active in my church.
Uh-huh.
And when I turned eight, I was able to be an accolite.
Where you go down, you'll light the candles.
And you give out the, the plates to be passed around and all that.
And I would sit right behind the pastor.
And my mom was okay with me bringing my giant size comic books with me to read during this sermon.
I don't.
And I look back now.
I can only have imagined all of a sudden there's just a huge battle star galactica right
behind the pastor as he's preaching.
I don't know how I got away with that.
When you got to that panel of the, of the decapitated head of ball tar then that turned some,
if you'll pardon the pun, turn some heads.
Uh, Russ is saying there's going to be a pattington bear motion picture coming out later this year.
Oh, my sister, why abaction.
But I remember my sister and I were really big fans of the stop motion animation.
There's a big end of pattington.
I believe there's a pattington in my house actually.
Interesting story that the, uh,
Metal Aquilips director John Snip says that one of the Star Wars spin-offs will be a boba
fed film and is being written by Lawrence Caston.
He used the words, I know in this interview.
I can't say how, but I know.
Thoughts on this.
I don't know if I need another boba fed story.
Like, what they told them the freak was, I was just kind of cool with that.
He's, he's one of the most, you know, beloved characters in the franchise,
especially in recent memory.
I mean, I'm seeing, like, there's a Facebook page totally dedicated to boba called
the dented element that I follow.
Boba fed.
I think I saw it by Captain Kirkwinter.
I'd, I'd love to see what boba fed did outside of his involvement with the skywalker
true.
I mean, you know I'll see it.
But.
And I can't even say I wouldn't see it overnight because I'll go because I'm,
because it's Star Wars and you're geek and you're, you're a, you're a slave to
you take my money.
Yeah.
I just, I don't know if it's something that I would put on my priority list.
Once, I know what your pet answering normally is.
Show you a trailer.
That will gauge your interest, I think.
It might.
I'd have to see story in the trailer, though.
I don't, I don't want style over substance.
I want to see story.
Well, it'll either fuel your interest or stifle it.
I think that will be the determining factor.
Will it be shadows of the empire?
Will it be Ewoks to series?
I don't know.
I know which one I'm hoping it's more light.
I want you to listen to me.
Oh, dear.
Disney's everywhere.
So I know they're listening.
Oh, please.
What do we have to do to get a shadows of the empire movie?
I'm okay with animated or CGI.
I'm okay with it.
If it looked like the current Clone Wars.
It would be okay.
See, be careful.
What you wish for.
We've learned that from Star Wars.
Be careful.
What you wish.
I just, it's one of my favorite Ew stories.
At Bar.
Yep.
True superkura.
I loved.
Courtship of Princess Lay was possible.
The hundred.
I, I'm given a pope on that.
But, never the zon trilogy.
Yeah.
What I say, the on.
The zon trilogy.
Not Greg Han.
Hi.
The Greg Han.
The Greg Han trilogy.
I would see that.
I would see the Greg Han trilogy.
Well, you'd see the zon one, too.
And he could be by himself, so he'd be Greg Han Solo.
Oh, you had to go there.
Yes, I did.
I, I think the, the moment for shadows
has definitely passed because it had its moment in the sun.
It really did.
Even though we never got a film.
It had its moment in the sun, because it was a multimedia blitz.
But that was, what?
How when did that come out?
It was like, it was mid 90s.
Yeah, 95, 94.
Someone doesn't think the game was on the 64.
Yeah.
I mean, we got everything to do with a star worth property, other than a film.
And I think if they were to go back and revisit that now, it would really be,
I don't know, that's, that's kind of beating it at horse, but we've never really gotten
anything on that level with the zon trilogy and people have been screaming about it forever.
Unless that's what they're making episode 79 about.
Oh, don't just don't tease.
I know.
I'm sorry.
I can't help myself.
I can drink.
And for people that have been wondering about Paul Walker's character in the fast and the
theorist's own, they're just going to retire him.
They're not going to recast it.
Or they're just going to retire the character, which I respect.
Because there was a while there were actually going to use his brother for it.
And I just retired the character.
I'm put with it.
Does this brother look like him?
Yeah.
So are they going to use him like in?
I don't know how they're, I don't know if they're rewriting this script or what they're
doing with it.
Like is his character going to make an appearance and say I'm, I'm done.
And right off in the sun, say haven't said for sure.
But this is they are going to retire the character.
That's good.
Only one big movie new release this week.
Well, if you want to call it that, the legend of Hercules.
This movie has one of two Hercules films that we'll be at this one.
This is not the one with the rock.
But Lee and my McIntyre.
This thing has suck written all over it.
DVD and blue right new releases this week.
The Justin Timberlake Ben Affleck runner runner.
I'm sorry.
The wicker man, the final cut.
This is the original.
Not the Nicholas Cage one.
But the infamous B scene.
They had a great community return this week.
And Abed was taking a two day class on Nicholas Cage.
Good or bad.
It's genius.
Thanks for sharing.
This is one of those ensemble pieces that everybody's in together.
Close circuits.
Which is the movie about that takes me some Britain about all the close circuit camera.
Okay.
Okay.
We are what we are.
This is a movie that was in theaters for about an hour and a half.
It's really creepy looking.
It's about a man who's two daughters that live in the back woods and.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
I thought it was like a pretty cool two.
We are who we thought they were.
Yep.
That would be a football movie.
The criteria in collection releases a cure carousel was thrown of blood this week.
I really need to get.
Some of his films in my library.
It's it.
I haven't watched any of his stuff in a long time.
But see you with the Bruce Lee shows up on the TV in the studio.
Bruce Lee and Frank Lloyd Wright in the same commercial.
Am I missing and then Jackie?
What am I missing in this commercial?
All of these things are not like the other thing.
So we had Bruce Lee.
Frank Lloyd Wright.
Jackie Robinson.
And now.
What car from Mazda.
Really?
Okay.
Really.
I don't even want to know.
The killing fields 30th anniversary.
Something how you'd like to see what it did there.
To help segue in.
To what we're going to do.
Yeah.
Okay.
And the documentary of Jeremy Lynn called Lynn Sanity releases on DVD.
I'm really right this week as well.
What a TV being a season one of leave it to beaver.
You can get that on DVD this week.
Yeah.
I saw that.
Anything for tech corner sir.
Yeah.
Apparently the founders of criterion studios.
Not the criterion we were just referring to.
Yeah.
Not the DVD company.
But if you're a driving game fan.
And I know a lot of you are.
The guys that created the burnout series, which I'm a huge fan of.
I know you've played it with me a couple of times.
Yeah.
And they also took over the need for speed series.
They're just going to be a movie later this year.
Which doesn't happen.
Doesn't happen.
But the founders of that studio have left it form their own studio.
So I don't know where the need for speed series goes from here because it was actually
on the toy backup.
Because they were taking the reins on that series.
But going to be left in limbo now.
Oh.
Anything else?
That's pretty much it.
I mean, I've got some tech talk that's going to segue into the list.
But let's go straight to the list because the street light is on already.
We and every show with a list.
This week, the pendulum does go to chat.
Well, as Rob mentioned,
his clever little segue about the killing fields.
Being the 30th anniversary.
There was a discussion that came up on Facebook as does spawn a lot of our lists.
It seems.
We always somehow find, oh, well, that's a good idea.
Of the things that are turning 30 this year.
And some of them are going to make you just reach for the Jared talk.
Oh, God.
Am I really.
As I don't have enough of that in my mind.
Yeah.
Am I really that old?
So here are the top 10 awesome things.
In my opinion that are seeing their 30th anniversary 30th birthday.
What do you want to have you?
Number 10.
Print shop.
Turn 30.
There's 30 this year.
Remember the whole when you would go print a project.
They would be thinking flashing on the screen on your dot matrix.
Exactly.
Everybody made banners on that.
That's like nine paces of printer paper.
And everybody made flyers.
Everybody made flyers.
And apparently, you can still get this thing to run.
Really.
In 1988, Broderbund announced that they had it sold more than 1 million copies.
And that sales of the print shop comprised 4% of the entire United States software market in 87.
You can run the print shop online in your browser.
But you'll still need a classic PC and a dot matrix printer to get the full experience.
I thought they made a modern version of that.
They probably do.
But you can get version 23 for 999 on your PC.
But from on court, it's the print shop.
Yeah.
And it's it was released on August 31st of 2010.
You can get it.
You can get a download of it.
You can get a print shop 3.5.
That was released on September 12th of 2013 for $30.
And then Boerderbund did print master.
You remember that as well?
Oh yeah.
Print shop deluxe.
From there was print shop pro.
Pro.
Professional.
Yep.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
The Mac turned 30 this year.
It was unveiled on January 24th, 84th.
Oh, the 1984 commercial.
Hmm.
Okay.
During the Super Bowl.
At the demo event, Steve Jobs removed the Mac from a bag and started a 3.5 inch floppy disk and booted it up.
And the chariots of fire theme kick can.
And speaking of which, we're a week or two away from CES.
Oh yeah.
I've already seen some of the previews of what we're going to be getting pizza.
It's it's it's going to blow your mind.
Number eight, something that I know you are incredibly fond of.
Tetris.
Really?
Yes, sir.
It was younger than that.
Hmm.
It was not aware.
Yeah.
He released a, uh, uh, Alexa, uh, legit novel released a first version of Tetris on June 6th,
Princess birthday in 1984.
Wow.
Today, the NES version of Tetris is still used in the classic Tetris world championships.
Many of whom in a tracks pull up players from around the world.
Most of whom are roughly the same age as the game itself.
Do you remember Tetris fear?
Oh yeah.
Do you remember every iteration of Tetris?
Because I'm almost as big a fan of Tetris.
Do you want to find Disney Tetris?
I know it's out there.
I just, I can't remember what it did.
What was it, too?
What platform was that on?
I want to say it was one of the portables.
I feel original to the S.
The original to the S.
Okay.
I will keep, I will keep digging.
There's Disney and Flintstones.
I did, because they did a bandman when I was like,
Oh, really?
Okay.
I'll keep my eye open for that.
There's story.
Um, number seven, and this is really kind of crack you up.
The legal taping of television.
Really?
The beta max case happened in January of 84.
Wow.
Where the court consider whether any benefits of that stole.
Yeah.
Still to this day.
For those of you that own a DVR, which is pretty much everybody we talk to,
it all hardkins back to this.
Like the court, and this is funny.
I'm going to read you, I'm going to read you the description of this.
The Supreme Court decided a crucial case in January of 84 known as the
Beta Max case, which of those of you that are too young to remember,
was the other competing format with VHS.
Yep.
And I'm sure there are some people listening to the show going,
what's VHS?
And then I'm going to cry.
And then I'm going to punch you to face.
The court considered whether home VCR users could legally record TV shows for the purpose
of watching them later, a practice known as Time Shifting, which is what everybody
owns the DVR is doing right now.
The court decided that recording the episodes of the, of the Cosby Show was just fine
and use of VCRs continue to take off.
And an ironic twist, movie studios who would drop the case in the first place,
raked in tons of money selling home video copies of movies,
using the same technology they had just tried to kill.
So irony can be pretty darn ironic sometimes.
Number six of was kind of a tie because they both deal with game shows.
One I mentioned to you earlier.
Okay.
The Trebek era of Jeopardy began.
Yep.
This is the 30th season.
And we'll retire after this year.
The show would run with art flimming in the 60s and 70s,
but he but Trebek brought Jeopardy firmly into the 80s.
And according to this, it says he plans to retire in 2016.
See, from what I'd read that he was going to retire after the 30th season.
I don't know.
Maybe he upreuped or something.
Maybe so.
But that'll give him a 32 year run.
And on the heels of that, and I know you recall this,
the press your luck incident.
Yes.
The game show network was supposed to do a,
a biopic about this.
But they're supposed to do a made for TV movie about this incident.
And Bill Murray was supposed to be playing like a larcen.
Now there was a documentary done, which was really good.
Yes, it was.
And for those of you that are unfamiliar about this,
in 1984, an ice cream truck driver named Michael Larson set a record
by winning 110,237 bucks.
And a total of cash and non cash prizes in one appearance.
And he did it by gaming the system.
He figured out the pattern that was running.
He studied the show intently to try to and figure it out
the patterns of the screens and the lights and figure it out.
He just kept hitting it and hitting it and hitting it.
And he would hit the way me every once in a while,
just to kind of pace to balance it out.
But he had recorded episodes of the show on his VCR.
Well, if you look at the modern version of it,
it's completely.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
So he memorized the patterns.
One on the show and won a pile of money.
And ironically enough, he was an ice contract driver.
Also something that happened in 1984 was Reagan created
National Ice Cream Month in July.
So he could have seen his day jobs income skyrocketing
because he appeared in June.
Everybody probably went in ice cream.
Truck driver anymore.
But I thought.
Okay.
Russ says Rebecca also did a pilot for Jeopardy and 79.
A pilot for Jeopardy.
Yeah, but I guess they didn't really get it up and running
until 84.
Um, number five.
The cause be show hit the air in 84.
Really.
Again, there are so many of these things.
I'm going to go, oh god.
Ouch.
I was 11.
Wow.
Now it was approaching 15.
I mean, literally, because it was.
It, it, it started airing September 20th of 84.
And it ran through 1992,
spawning a different world.
And the impact of that show was massive.
Now we get to the, to the real meat of the, of the list,
because this is where you're really going to wake out.
And I didn't realize the first one of these.
It's first occurred in 84.
But we got in the same year that they view of the Ninja Turtles and transformers.
Oh, wow.
Those are both the same year.
Yep.
Are you kidding me?
Nope.
First comic book of Ninja Turtles went on sale in 84.
Well, the comic book.
Yeah, I've got the third, third or fourth printing of number one.
And so worth a bunch of money.
And, uh, oh, where'd it go?
Oh, here it is.
Transformers rolled out after Hazbro bought distribution rights for the die clone
and macro man toy molds from the Japanese company to Kara.
Generation one launched with 28 figures, 18 Autobots, 10 Decepticons,
including the infamous Megatron figure that transformed it to a gun,
which was the only one I had initially.
Oh, really?
I wish I could find that thing.
I, I think the first two I had were just two of the lesser characters,
but they were so good.
I mean, they were a good size character.
Oh, yeah.
I went into getting optimism for Christmas.
What was the, what was the purple jet?
Because star screen was red and blue.
What was the purple one?
Because I had that one.
And I also had, uh, sound wave.
Because I thought his cassettes were so cool.
Star screen was the white one.
I was red and blue.
You know, blue head and red wings.
And we all know how much red wings suck.
But.
I'm lucky.
I'm lucky.
You've gone.
Uh, in September of 84, the three episode mini series
and introduced American children to the Autobots and Decepticons.
And they're ongoing battle for the resources necessary to return to Cybertron.
And it just kept on evolving, um,
the first season ran through December.
That's, and then during this time, the dino bots and sector cons.
I can structure cons were introduced as well as chip chase new Decepticons, new Autobots all in time for 85.
When 76 new toys were released in series 2.
Yeah, it's a thunder cracker in Skywalker for the other two jet.
Okay.
Okay.
So it was probably thunder cracker.
Number three.
The MTV video music awards had their first.
And so it took them three years to do with the VMS.
Yep.
They were still still kind of gathering credibility and momentum.
I think about that.
Whenever Madonna performed like a virgin while crawling around on the floor,
wearing the wedding gown.
That was the very first one.
Yep.
Michael Jackson took home a pile of awards for thriller.
But he was not the first winner.
No.
But in a ram along the very first.
Right.
Apparently you can still find the first show.
It's available on YouTube, at least for now.
Yeah.
Number two is a pretty broad category.
As is number one.

That's what won the Grammy that year, because it came out the previous year.
Okay.
Actually, I want to say that came out maybe too.
Because I remember that was the big.
That was the big dispute between Michael and Universal because he had done the
narration for that ET storybook and record.
And they didn't want to read it.
One hundred singles for 1984.
