It is 7-0-1 on the east coast.
It is 4-0-1 on the west coast.
It is the 8th of January in the year of our Lord 2017.
Season 7, Episode 25, 375 times.
This voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse Podcast where I appreciate you listening
no matter where you are, whether you're live on Ustream, whether you listen on our archive
or if you listen on your favorite podcasting app, we're just happy you're here.
My name is Rob and let me be the first on this show anyway to say welcome to 2017.
Nobody gets to say it before me.
But I'm not alone for this particular episode, joining me across the desk to my left as he
tends to do is my co-host and a man whose dance card has been a little full the last couple
of weeks.
He is Chad.
Welcome, sir.
You are not even close to kidding, sir.
I am not kidding at all, sir.
To his left as we go clockwise around the room is the official fact checker of this show
and a man who the weather this weekend has not even phased him, given what he went through
during the holidays.
You may know him as fondongo but his mama named him Don Ford, I'm gonna call him Don Ford
Welcome, sir.
Happy New Year, everybody.
To you as well.
I'm glad 16 is over with all of you, you can't be old.
And it also finished with a bang too.
Oh yes.
And another celebrity death on New Year's Eve.
Father Mokehi.
To his left as we continue around, this is a very special episode.
We got a couple of very special guests joining us is a man who is about to get his Christmas
gift and he has no clue as to what it is.
He is the ginger ninja.
He is Andrew Beckham.
Welcome, sir.
Thank you.
Great to be here.
Great to make sure to talk right into that thing for me.
Okay.
I am.
Okay, there we go.
And to his left rounding out the panel, the dais as it were is a man who's also glad
this weekend is over because he actually feels human again.
He is Dave Scott.
Welcome, sir to you.
I think humans are real.
Make sure that thing's on.
I'm not.
It might be, but it's not getting a little strong signal from.
Talk right into it.
All right.
There you go.
That's a letter.
Okay, cool.
I got a lot of kiss the mic here.
We haven't been on the air in three weeks, but from our last show, I didn't have any corrections
as we normally do.
We had the complete gift exchange tonight because Andrew wasn't here for roadblock
and the line chat.
His gift is right behind you on top of the record player if you would grab that for
him.
Yes.
In the expertly wrapped packaging because I can't get to the wrapping paper in the garage
yet.
Yes.
So.
I love the wrapping.
It's great.
Russ is checking in.
So hello to you, sir.
We're waiting for Andrew to open his gift.
Hey, I wrapped your present.
Yeah, we are.
Yeah, we're doing it.
We got a lot to get to tonight.
So I want to get this done right up front.
Open it all the way up.
Don, I forgot your cheetos.
Guess what?
I got him for Christmas.
Beer.
No, I got him cheetos.
Oh, that's got him beer.
Meals.
I had to come to guess that.
And what else to get you in the card?
All right, Andrew.
This is an audio and medium.
So you must tell everyone what you have received.
Ha, ha, ha.
I have received ninja socks.
And what color are the tops of them?
And they are red.
So they are the ginger ninja dress socks.
Yes, awesome.
It's amazing.
Those are the best.
So, yeah, wear those to your job, if you would.
Don, I believe you're next.
We'll go in reverse order for this.
Well, I did get him cheetos and also a card
with a mass and gale coupon in it.
Wow.
Don't worry.
Chipotle.
This is uncomfortable.
Well, while Don's opening his gift,
we do want to give you a quick NASCAR update.
The Sprint Cup is no more.
It is this year going to be called the Monster Energy Cup.
So be ready for that.
Don, what do you got?
Well, he returned the favor.
He got me coupons for playtex.
So.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
You know what?
And there's, there's a bit of a turn about his variables.
Wow.
It's going to be a stainless steel hip flask.
Oh, very nice.
But since I'm in the giving mood,
I had one more gig gift.
And this is the last time this horse is going to get beat.
You've given it.
This is the third gig.
I don't know what the last time I was waiting for it.
You said, bring it on.
It's coming in the mail the last time.
By the way, see, I heard gig gift.
I got more gig gift this year than Chad's
gotten in the history of the show.
This is your third.
You said, bring it on.
You said, bring it on.
By the way, that wrapping paper is kind of sacrilegious.
Yeah, I was the one that got crumpled up.
They're going to be edible, penises.
Slap him.
You know what?
I'm giving him credit for this, though.
I can't see it yet.
It may be a gag gift, but I'm giving full credit on this.
I saw that I had to.
It is a book.
It is called the lexicon of Stu Payton.
Ha!
Ha!
Yes.
The lexicon of Stu Payton.
Did you just go to Amazon and type in lexicon?
They send it.
Yes, I saw that I had to.
All right, Chad, you're up.
Well, Chad's opening up some quick television headlines for you.
Disney Channel has canceled Girl Meets World
after season three.
Didn't realize that was bit free seasons, but, you know, whatever.
Will and Grace is going to get a 10 episode revival later this year.
Is it, I keep hearing it's happening.
Okay, because I heard the Deborah missing was saying,
don't believe everything you read.
Don't believe everything you read.
I've heard it.
The story I read was from a fairly reputable source.
Dude, Chad, what do you got?
It is a pretty sweet-looking Spider-Man wristwatch.
Oh, very nice.
I haven't needing a wristwatch for a long time.
Thank you, Andrew.
There's fans of the man on the high castle.
The Amazon series.
I know Charlotte was a huge fan up.
That got renewed for season three.
I have not caught that yet.
I've heard it's really, really good.
The trailers that I've seen have heard are fantastic.
It's pretty chilling looking.
And so if you watched Rebels last night,
Saul Guerrera is now part of Rebels in that two, two-parter,
which I've found very boring.
I haven't watched it.
But we are also in the second half of this season going to get Obi-Wan.
Yes, I saw the trailer.
So I'm very excited about that.
They showed the trailer this week.
For fans of Archer, be aware, get your adjust your DVRs accordingly.
Season 8 of Archer was going to be moving to FXX instead of FXX.
Why are you giving me the coupons?
Oh, he's watching to read the coupons, sir.
I guess I should probably open my mouth.
We're talking here.
By the way, my guess is Pittsburgh style.
Oh, yes.
Look at that.
And Don will be very happy because of a new series
returning on Netflix with this original voice cast.
So Don now has a show to watch because the magic school bus is returning.
Magic school bus.
You never watched the magic school bus?
You're a kid.
I can't remember that one.
It was about a school bus.
It was magical.
I think I remember it.
I substance then.
That was a little bit common.
What?
I believe so.
It's Brisbane.
Fiber.
I'm sure.
Andrew got me.
It looks like it is a watch,
but I'm having difficulty opening it up because the flap is not working.
Ooh, it is a pretty much what she said.
It is a classy Batman watch, though.
That is fantastic.
Don't hate on my watch, sir.
It's classy.
I'm going to put that right there on the desk.
I'm not even going to start the battery yet because I want to wait until it's actually on my wrist.
But thank you, Ninja.
It's like you can't get out of a cream game.
Wow.
Trust me.
I could use some of those.
That's Dave talking about your gift-giving prowess, sir.
Are you mad because I didn't get you one?
No.
And speaking of things, I think you'll be happy about Dave.
The team, the writing team behind the show Jane the Virgin is going to be rebooting charmed.
So I know you're ready for that.
Oh, you know what?
It'll be great for what I'm running on the treadmill in the morning watching charmed.
You know what?
Hey, I'm not going to judge you outwardly.
Do any of those girls wear bras because I don't think they do.
Why are you complaining?
That's a fair point.
One of them needs to be on lithium.
DVD, DVD, DVD, Blu-ray stuff that you're going to get this week.
Homeland season five.
Boy, they've been plugged in the crap out of the new season of that show.
I haven't seen that commercial about 14 times today.
I'm sick of Claire Danes' face being all up in the camera now.
A season two of Mr. Robot.
Has anybody watched that show?
I know a couple of people that have this and it's amazing.
It looks interesting.
I just didn't get the concept.
It was a show very hard to start watching.
The complete series for Star Trek Enterprise this week.
Scott Bakawa did a guess shot on it's always sunny in Philadelphia this week.
Probably one of the most wheels off episodes that show has ever done.
If you've been watching the story of God with Morgan Freeman.
Season one of that starts on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
Season three of Broad City and season seven of Swamp People.
Yeah.
Moving on.
I will say real quick.
The one that got me this year so far was the A&E that Leah Remini about the Scientology.
My wife has been watching that and very much enjoying this.
That was a huge topic of conversation last night.
It's still going.
Yeah.
The season finale was last night.
Oh, was it?
Okay.
So she just must be behind.
By the way, caught up by all my shows on the DVR.
Congratulations.
I did watch today.
They debuted that bright lights documentary about Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher on HBO last night.
Was it?
I'm not sure but the day it's very good.
It gets a little haunting at the end of it and not on purpose.
But it's very, very good.
I very much enjoyed that.
Fourshadowing gets along.
Actually I'll talk a little bit more later because we're going to use that to set weight into something else.
Let's get you some bowl updates.
Oh yeah.
Am I winning?
Let's go from worse to first.
There is a tie for the seller. It's me. You are one of them. Woo-hoo. You are 20 for 41
But you cannot get the final game because you picked Ohio State
The only person
That can break the tie for the seller right now
Is the man currently talking on the microphone? Oh, no
Oh, it's on oh, no, yep
And I am one point behind the ginger ninja
But he and I both have Alabama in the final everybody except Chad has Alabama in the final
So the ginger ninja is three points behind Chad
At 24 Chad is one point behind charla at 25
Mikey has won it. Nobody can catch it. I'm not shocked at all. He is 28 for 41
right now
Because he came out the gate. He went 10 straight right out of the gate. Yeah, I mean that established the dominance
Then then he went looks like he went four and four in his next date
Lost three one one lost one then went on another four game run lost one one two lost one one one lost two lost one two
So he kept a kept it afloat
And this is the guy was like
So Mikey a messaging him right now apparently he's injured his calf. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that but he's gets deep
This was like the golf score wins. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, your full proof plan was anything but yeah
Some music headlines for you as we move on Janet Jackson now a mother
Yeah, but you a baby boy
It's 50
EISSA is how you spell the first name and
Almana is her married last name. I
Got nothing. I'm not even gonna try to forget a Dell mayor may not be married
There's rumors that she secretly married her boyfriend in the ceremony this past week
I finally got to watch her BBC special while I was on vacation and it was wonderful
Did you know I'm a huge fan of the Adele? Yes, especially given the picture I put on Facebook this week the Adele taco
Muzzle top just in case yes, the documentary talk more about like her relationship with the first the boy from the one she wrote the song about this
But what this was it was an hour and a half long and
It was kind of like the Graham Norton show that's over in the in in England because it's on the BBC
So he would interview her for a bit and then she'd do a song so they would go back and forth
She talked a little bit about it, but she talked more about what's going on with her now and the tour she's getting ready to do
They did a couple of funny bits where people on the way in were taking picture with her Oscar and
Graham Norton and Adele were behind the wall
So as soon as the guy got ready to take picture they'd come out from behind the wall with like funny hats and stuff
And like they had one of those little blank thought balloons and like what I said
I hated Dell and she hung it over the guy's head and
They did another bit where they were like he was casting a new Adele musical and so all these Adele
Quoting quote impersonators came out and she was one of them, but they had made her up a little bit
So she didn't exactly look like herself
Wait was it was that the one where was a bunch of
No, there's only one dude. There's only one dude
Okay, there were five late four late four five total one dude and four ladies and like she's backstage
And she's like oh my god. I'm gonna be sick. I'm so nervous
They're like no, you're gonna be fine
And then she came out she started singing and the one of them was like
We didn't that that's her and they're like no, I can't be harsh like no, that's her
I saw that bet for sure. I know I saw yes, but to me it was for ladies quote unquote
No, no, no, there's only one there was only one one dude in this one
so
Russ Russ is reporting that yes, that's right. This past Friday on Netflix
The one day at a time reboot dropped with Rita Marano. Yeah, she was on jeopardy on Friday
And I did see a little clip of the new to tell the truth
Good or bad
I understand match game. I'm in. I don't know that we need a reboot of the television
I've watched the match game bald ones really good at that. Yeah, so I know about his new anime film coming
What do you see in this trailer put the boss baby? Oh god, it looks it looks as bad as that
Nine Life's cat movie they came out last year
some
Music festival updates for you Coachella will be headline this year by the Beyonce
The Kendrick Lamar and the radio head
So you got that going for you
And there's a new one called bottle rock now. This one. I'm a little bit more interested headlined by food fighters
Tom Petty and maroon five
This you have my attention on that sounds good. I'm on board with this
Also speaking we have another new mom this week pink gave birth to a new son. Oh, yeah, it's named Jamison Moon
Moon
Moving on uh pink moon fans of
Really thought we were gonna get through that seriously um fans of Avril Levine
Rejoice she is releasing a new album this year. She was having some health problems apparently this past year
So I thought she was having some mental issues as well. I that I don't know
But that might have been the health problems, but something that I was I was talking to fill about this
Yesterday of
You realize this is the 30th anniversary of the Joshua tree sir
You two is playing with the idea of doing 30th anniversary shows for the Joshua tree
If they do the deal or they do the album all the way through like Judas please now book it now. I am there
Because $75 a ticket. Yeah, I will sell your plasma to get tickets
To the last drop of your blood see I thought TV for a second there and I went no no he's talking about blood
You know, I saw you two once the only thing about me. It was a 12 song set and that was it and I was during the uh
The one uh the zoo zoo TV. Yeah, it's because the material at that point was not very good
Yeah, I mean rage when machine opened up, which was great. It's not the cotton bulb. It was a TV was after
But you go to age 12 songs. That's it. That's it. That was the start of the darkness for me though
Because then they went to like pop and
I'm going to do a song. I'm going to talk like this for three minutes and then people are going to walk around me in the video
And I'm not going to move and it's going to be really cool. No, it's not edge. I like
It was nothing. Oh, no, that's a different song
And they have played that's what that's the war album or anything like that. I mean, it was just nothing
Music new releases in places you get music new releases this week
Danny goki from American idol. He does. He's doing a Christian contemporary music
His latest album comes out called rise. There's been a couple of singles already off of it
One of them called tell your heart to beat again. It's a really good song
Do you know about this bow-bice thing or is that on the wrench you didn't see? Oh no
No, I've not heard any bow-bice news. We go live to Chad for a bow-bice update
Apparently he was in some eating establishment and
Faced some racial discrimination
Was it Popeyes? Yes. Yeah, really. Yeah, the Pope yes chicken
Yeah, they called him white boy and made fun of him and stuff like that and where was this?
No, like what state can you remember what state it was Dave?
Wow
Kentucky
Which is weird?
Yeah, I see it. No, no, but I mean he was like, you know that he was afraid that he was coming off as a whiner
That he has to even take this to social media to get some light shit on it. I was like, yeah, that's pretty
It's it's pitiful that it takes him basically coming off like that for this to even be addressed
That's that's starting to become a trend is to eat the whole reverse racism things right no such thing though
Because a reverse of racism means there is no racism racism. Racism is racism is racism no matter who it is in my personal opinion
Well, they say that they say that white people are the only thing that could be the racist. So
We're gonna get out of this rabbit. Yeah, sorry. I'm sorry. I even opened this can
um
One of Chad's favorite bands of the new album this week called machine Messiah sepul Turra
Has returned wow
That was a mouthful. I saw them at Osfest once they were good. No, they're they're they're heavy
Yep
And the flaming lips
Hopefully without Miley Cyrus
An album called I can't I'm gonna try this
oxy melody o z
C's o c z y
ML o d y
That's what you got okay
What you said
Uh, let's see what else let's do some wrestling talk real quick
I know we're speeding through this guys, but we are gonna be this tonight is the show where we will be doing
uh
Best of worst of 2016. That's why we've got Dave and Andrew here
Brian my buddy from Florida is listening in
So I'm very excited because he's talking about us talking about
The the documentary from last night. So Brian's good to know that you're listening in sir
Roman Reigns it was announced on friday will be defending the us title in a three-way dance against
Jericho and Kevin Owens tomorrow night
And nobody
I wish I could get excited. It just seems like the same thing also announced this week that
Russell mania 34 returning to New Orleans
next year
It was one of the best wrestling maybe is ever you shut your dirty mouth
Uh, did you hear this big UFC news this week
Mike Goldberg out
longtime voice of the UFC really was he left after this past pay-per-view he's done
Okay, Todd Grisham has joined the UFC in some capacities
I don't know what you call that an even exchange
But yeah, I got that going for you
uh
Rick flair has ended his podcast
How how long had it gone
Maybe a year like didn't he started like in the aftermath of piper something like did you see the uh the video of him this week though
Where he was dead lifting like 200 oh is 400 pound 400 rick flair in a video dead lifted 400 pounds
And the next day
The Atlanta Falcons offered him a job on twitter
I'm not kidding you that happened
Uh, apparently Goldberg's now been signed for three more pay-per-views
And this is a sound of me not sounding just here's here's what I want you to think about okay, okay
When Goldberg won the world title from Hogan in the Georgia dome
The world title was not the only belt he held
Do you remember what other belt he held at the time going into that match? Goldberg? Yep. Uh-huh TV title. No
It's behind you on the floor
At least it used to be I'm worried it's the same it's the samsonite title no
You were way off as a rock fest 97 bag with tapes in it on the fine. Actually, that's got this got speakers in
There's no belt he was the us champion
Really who is your current us champion?
jr slow no Roman Reigns
What belt is he vying for the royal rumble? Oh, don't tell me this
I'm telling you if that's what Roman wins at the rumble
It's Goldberg Roman and possibly Lesnar at WrestleMania. Oh boy
Because I'm saying it now on January the 8th. I am saying it April 29th. This is happening
World's slowest batch because the first two Goldberg
Brock Lesnar matches were incredible. So I'll take that I'll take that last one over the first one
Because at least it was over with quickly and because we have a tradition on the show
Guess what I don't have with me
Your iPad that is correct. David you do me favor
In the 40 a there's a bag just bring the whole bag
Where did you get your foot learned?
Well, I know I've been my butler last weekend at that because I'm stuck behind the chairs with you
So just call it
But apparently they are working on a new theme for Seth Rollins. I have heard a clip from it
It's very heavily relies on the redesign rebuild reclaimed theme
Yeah, cuz he's the one that needs the new theme not pocket. That's already open. Not Roman
He's still using the shield theme
Ah, there it is now we hope there's a battery charge
Hopefully there's no shield
I wouldn't have a problem with that to be quite honest with you
Russ is saying and I think he's referring to the incident with bobycy was saying that was at the Atlanta airport
Well, that's right. Yes, that's right. So who?
The boby thing won't start matter there
So let's talk a little bit about raw real quick and we pull up my nose
Boy my app has run slow today
On the ticket here we go. So
We had the last man standing match
Sami Zayn and brawn shrooman
Is it just it might be the only one that's like if it's not a pay-per-view
I really don't give a crap about a last man standing match like it did nothing for me. It doesn't really mean much
And I'm gonna say this I like this Jack Gallagher
I don't know what it is about the sky
I haven't seen him. He's the gentleman
Who uh who challenged the other Davari to a duel on NXT and then he slapped him with a glove like god
I don't know what it is about this guy
So it's funny. It's obvious. They're setting him up to tango with the vaude villains or something
So it's just the same kind of aesthetic. Yeah, those guys actually have to be on TV um
Yeah, I'll
And let me tell you something and I think this was Corey Graves
and I'm about to verbally
strump a mud hole in somebody and walk it dry. Let me tell you something Corey Graves
I don't care that you're a heel announcer. I don't care
You hacked off two fan bases Monday night. Oh, what do you do?
Titus O'Neill's in the ring, right? Where did Titus O'Neill go to college? Oh, I don't know
University of Florida. Oh, okay. University of Florida was in a bull game
Where they beat Iowa
Now apparently
um
I just lost his name
Byron Saxton went to Florida at the same time that Titus was there. Okay
And even Cole goes
Florida won their bull game the other night and Corey Graves says probably in some division two team
Let me explain something to you Hoss. Oh boy. Oh
No, you know, I'm sorry that sister Mary's bible college for the blind doesn't have a football team where you went
second
The Iowa Hawkeyes are 18
And I hope somebody got in your ear about that because that was not cool
I'm so worn out by why they feel like they have to play a role and it's not called division two. It's fcs
So chew on that
Somebody break out the tranquilizer dart. I think your neighbors across the street are gonna complain
Good for them good for them they were setting off fireworks on new years night they can deal with it. Was it fireworks?
No, they were they were fireworks this time
Because they're so high up on our our list of friends right now
That's that's uncalled for are we turning Bailey into Rey Mysterio
What are we doing here? What do you mean? What do you mean by that? I?
Maybe small but I have spirit
Come on Bailey. She's better than this treat her better than this
Now go. Oh, I do want to say
Sign of the week
Enzo and big cast are coming to the ring and there's a kid sitting on the aisle and her sign reads
I'm four feet tall and you can't
That
I thought I'd be a champ salesperson you like no, I don't know. No, I don't mind. James salesperson
Oh, but yeah, that was good and I'm giving credit to that individual
And you know what? I also didn't realize speaking of tall
I didn't realize
How tall Roman was
Until he was face to face with Goldberg and Goldberg was looking up just a little bit
I don't think he's used to that. I was like that is a tall dude
All right, fans of impact rejoice all two of you pop TV and impact that are officially on Hulu now
Oh, do we have to talk about it? Oh, have you seen the new logo?
No impact new logo. Yes
Now that whoever this new anthem sports or whatever has taken over
They have a new logo. Oh boy. I'd like you to take a moment
I'd like you to take a moment and look at the new impact logo. Is that it right there?
The one on the left at the bottom oh
Oh, no, the bird or whatever. Yes, that is the new impact logo. This thing. It's peak. Yep. I mean it reminds me of the coupon that he just gave me
Oh for the love of God. Yep, that's your new impact logo
That looks like some logo that's on like a cheap as seen on TV product
Well
The creator the higher the creator. No, you're right
That's terrible
After not only this, but this is after the announcement by the way in case you weren't aware
Dixie Carter is officially out finally. Did you see who's replaced her not on camera, but we'll be working behind the scenes
No, Jarrett is back in the hole. No, yes, Jarrett really too little too late off camera strictly off camera
Well, good, but still so into a little too late at this point. I think looking at it
This makes me mad because it reminds me of rushes fly by night with that outfit that thing is ugly
That's brave. That's bush also returning to TNA is one Brooke Adams
So she's back Brooke is back in the mix
TNA trying to sign the hardies to exclusive deals, but
Matt has already started the roh the roh storyline
Boy, that was wheels off in final battle. I thought today. Oh, I finally saw that
And they're trying to sign Alberto Del Rio
Where is your money?
Good luck with all that roh at least you respect
And apparently Mike and Maria Bennett are working without a contract currently
Apparently their deal was up on New Year's Eve
You mean the kingdom former kingdom? Yes, okay
Adam Cole did get the roh title back down. I don't know if you saw this no at wrestle kingdom
He won the title back from Kyle O'Reilly
Well, that's a fat. Well, they both had that's the good news the bad news. Yeah, he's headed to WWE in four months
Adam Cole baby, Cole baby and he's not the only one who
The guy he won the title from
Kyle O'Reilly headed to the WWE
Ray how also headed to the WWE what about fish you put red dragon and w
Bobby fish jay lethal hayman page and Christopher Daniels have all resigned with our way
Well, I like red dragon though. I do too. I do too. They're one of my favorite tag teams
And their logo looks like the horse from Mortal combat. I would just horse the horse logo from Mortal combat. That's a dragon
I'm telling it a horse. I like dragon give me this. I like see I can't that's right with it. They're called red dragon
My dream is Dalton the boys going to there. Oh
Did you did you watch this weeks? Did you watch this week's ROH? Yeah when the boys came out with you were chanting yeah fan up
Fan up like the man. I thought that was great. I could bring that fan in here. Not yet. Not to use the new studio
Okay, I'm not hitting anything on the wall. It's the old studio fan. I got yes. I know
Chris hero is officially back in NXT as as caches Oh no
So hope we maybe we'll get our kings of wrestling reunion very excited about that and
People have asked about you know, they did that cruiserweight classic that there was talk about a women's classic
But it has been delayed until after the UK tournament which happens next weekend and it's going to be live on the network
It's a two-day tournament
So Smackdown notes do we have to I really like what they've done with Baron Corbin's entrance
What did they change he still walks out into the spotlights, but when he stops
It's just like it you know because he's his uh finishers called the end of days mm-hmm
The tron looks like post-apocalyptic. It's pretty cool. I'm impressed with it. I like that dude, but
And you know what I remember a time when heel announcers did more than just hurl insults at other announcers
Call them match, bro
We story graves and talk about the same guy. Yeah, I'm talking to JBL to JBL. You're better than this. I don't know
I do like what he says about the no chin with L's worth. I do like that some of that's fun, but it just makes me mad
Oh, that's right. Uh rusted want to remind everybody because he was talking to me this and on text the other day
That that new Japan has two guys. They're a tag team one of them. We've seen an ROH that they're they're basically their gimmick is is
Marty McFly and Doc Brown
The Marty McFly guy we've actually seen an ROH
Let's see I'm making a prediction right now. So mark it down boys
This La Lucha Dora
Donna know you know what I'm talking about
It's even Marie. Okay. I'm making a prediction. It's even Marie
Even though it's not just not her right now because the red hair would give it away. Yeah, but I'm telling you that's how they're bringing about
Oh, that girl that with the blue and the red and all that. Yeah, I'm saying it and you have a new intercontinental champion
And his name is Dean Ambrose
Really? Yes, that happened. That wasn't injustice. That was a great match. I was about
It's normal Andrew getting all geeky on
What is that sequel supposed to come out the summer? I believe is it? Uh-huh, which will be post-mode until 2018
I know nether home studios actually pretty good. We ought to save that for tech talk or geek talk whenever they agree
All right, let's get on some box office mojo. Wow, I can forget how quick my internet access is at the house

La la land is the first jumper of the week from seven to five. I really enjoyed this film
10 million dollars five weeks

La la land. Yeah, I added 765 feet. Okay. That's why that's why the jump your only debut this week under world blood wars

I think 35 million dollar budget. This isn't supposed to be the last one. I don't know
It's the first one that she's done in a while because I know resident evil. That's gonna be the final chapter. Yeah
Sing drops from the silver medal to the bronze medal 19.6 million dollars three weeks sir
Three weeks done. You ready for this? Yeah
233 million dollars on a 75 million dollar budget and how much was Moana
Moana was 225 in seven weeks. That's that's impressive. You want to know what we thought? You're taking on the juggernaut there

25 million dollar budget
That's that's impressive. We did not do an iTunes exclusive for this episode
But we do have a I my written is up at our website our website so you're with me go see this movie
I know Phil went with me last time to the movies
But I know his wife and and the girls are in California. So we hope they're having a great time
When they come back he's gonna go see hidden figures with her. Okay, and it doesn't have to be a date movie
This movie was worth every penny and winning
Again four weeks in a row and it got $17 and 31 cents of my money in glass in our gift card that I got last night
Rogue one a Star Wars story another 22 million dollars
four weeks
477.3 million dollars on a 200 million dollar budget. Yeah, I think it's gonna be honor
It's doing okay
So how many times have you seen it now twice? I can't wait this is actually the first time since Jedi
I've seen a Star Wars movie multiple times in a theater. Oh
Andrew in a single rock reach around the back of David's head and smack the full out of him
Because I heard that
Speaking of Star Wars Woody Harrelson being eyed for the Han Solo movie as his mentor
Really
Also has been pushed back to December of next year
I'm starting to wonder if they're just gonna do December for all the release. Why not? Why not?
Because they're crushing it in December. Yeah, that's that has become their month now and may
Tell me like may I get the tradition and whatever but they've already broken that tradition
So why bother doing it but December just I don't know there's something about December and Star Wars movies
That just feels right. Yeah, I don't know what it is the anticipation for the holiday season
Yeah, it all just coming in from out at town and look at what they're doing with their commercial with their ad campaigns
I think you tying it into holiday events and stuff and it just works. So I'm on board with it. Just keep it like it is
I know you have you have Star Wars that the marathons that are happening all during the Christmas
Yeah, yeah, yeah coming like a Christmas tradition. Yeah, I'm Star Wars. I like the December thing
I was a little weird about it at first. I was upset at first basically because it's because they were pushing it back now that we've done it twice
It just it kind of feels right. Yeah, it would last night. I did see it. I max 3d. Uh-huh
Not as much different as I thought
But that final that was 3d. Yeah
But the audio and video presentation is still far superior. Yeah, to me. I'd rather see it in Dolby Admission than 3d
Dr. Strange will appear in 4 Ragnarok. Yeah, I did see that the other it is scheduled for November the 3rd
This year which I believe is like a week before just as league and did you hear about a certain fight?
That's supposed to happen in that. Well, we knew that that um, this could be a spoiler alert, but I don't care
We have I mean we knew that it was gonna be Thorin and Hulk we're going to get into it because I think you're not right address it
They would they were speculating but this is I think that this is part of what Thor's hallucinations going to be when it comes to Ragnarok
Because there's those you that don't know what Ragnarok is
Yes, it is the celebration of clay and Devon and I's birthday in July
But it's the actual name of it comes basically from the the Viking Armageddon, right?
Basically is what Ragnarok means all right, they keep teasing that this is definitely going to be a
Planet Hulk World War Hulk Titans now from in news that I know everyone has been waiting with baited breath on
And they don't know why this is happening. It was announced this week
That Lindsay Lohan is officially pushing for mean girls too, and she has written a treatment for it
Usually not the kind of story you hear about when you talk about Lindsay Lohan and treatment in the same sentence
Which we well played
That was for you up in the cheap seats
That was for the people and she called that shot
Not bad so that was a good save
And you know that I everybody in the room was thinking it
And I'm in the right mood today
Because when you announced that you could you could you could cut the indifference in this room with a knife
Brian is asking
About Carrie Fisher as it pertains to episodes eight and nine
We do know that she has shot all of her stuff for episode eight. Mm-hmm
That's what she was doing when she was coming back from London if she had just finished
Apparently Kathleen Kennedy is confabbing with the writers on how they're going to address it in nine
I would think they're gonna have to write her out. I don't want to
Because yeah, I don't want to talk about all of the methods. I know
Yeah, because then you're getting into spoilers for other films
I would think they'd have to write her out. Yeah
But it's gonna be that movie's gonna be very very bittersweet
Well, I wonder do they write her out in eight or do they write her out in nine?
I would think nine, but I would think eight because I have the material to work with and they can they can
Edited gracefully some way um tomorrow. I'm sorry. Dave. What's up?
As long as we don't get a fast and furious goodbye to Carrie Fisher in
No, I don't think they'll no look as don't do so come in, you know. No, he doesn't
I
How many times do I have to tell you?
anchor smack him, please. I want a triple exit, but we also knew
But we were getting into
Stop it
That's you're taking this down to a way different level now. Um
Davis the albatross of episodes just because Samuel Jackson was in both franchises. Doesn't mean we need a crossover
Tomorrow is the debut for the trailer for cars three
I don't know if you've seen the teaser poster. Yes, I've seen the teaser trailer
I'm a little intrigued by this
Because it looks like he kind of gets jacked. Yeah, I hate it cars too. I never saw the second one. It was terrible
It was absolutely terrible. Disney them so Disney picks are themselves admits it was a cash in he was terrible
um
So could I interest you in a
Tanya Harding biopic
Probably not could I interest you in a Tanya Harding biopic
If the newly married margo robby plater
You have my attention
I don't know I know that she's been training for it though like she's been training with the figure skating and the whatnot
Um, yeah, I'm sorry margo robby way too hot to be playing Tanya Harding
Hold on hold on before we go down this deal think of this
Charlie star on yeah, I lean more notes. Yeah, yeah, I'm just saying while they're coaching who's gonna be like the baseball hitting coach
You know, okay, so do it second. So like she didn't swing anything that was Galulia
Margo Robbie doing the uh, what is it the the movie that Tanya Harding did?
No, we're not gonna be hopefully we don't address this
But what if she gains the weight and then that happens
Well, yeah, well, Dave you should have a vested interest in this because remember what she was performing to whenever her shoelace broke
During her routine with with her pitting against Nancy Kerrigan was it Jurassic? Yes, it was no
Yes, it was
I was watching it
What she broke down and cry and ask who she's fine. She's playing Tanya Harding. Yeah, she's quite like a dinosaur
What a
Small arms just speaking of which and I know we're side tracking, but we're doing okay right now going in a ditch
Did you see have you seen that the documentary from Rocky to Creed?
No, I watched it this week and apparently Colin Trevorow told Ryan Kugler who told sly in the interview
He didn't know beforehand that he modeled the big dinosaur fight at the end of Jurassic World after Rocky 3
Ha
And and Salon goes I've peaked I've died dinosaurs dinosaurs are using my my choreography. I can't go any better than that never done a dinosaur
It would coiograph to a dinosaur
That was Homer Simpson. I don't know what that's just what that's the best I can do
I but at least he didn't call the dinosaurs greedy and lazy
Uh, let's see Homer Simpson really. Yeah, I don't want to talk to my Homer Simpson
Uh Sterling K brown he played Christopher Darden on the people versus OJ Simpson. Uh-huh. No, you're going to join the cast of black panther
Who isn't joining the cast of black panther apparently me like I'm the only guy
But yeah, I'm ready for this movie. I'm so excited for this movie. I'm more excited for this and I may be excited for Spider-Man
Homecoming to be quite honest with watch that trailer again in the iMac 3d last night. It looks great
But I mean we've been Ironman's Spider-Man coming through. Yes, we've been down the Spider-Man road now
Six times it's yeah or more. I'm on board. I'm waiting to see what they do with black panther. I'm looking forward
Uh, I know you have no interest in homes in Watson
Because it's feral and and it's it's the two leads from Talibagonites. You'd be yeah, you'd be right John Rajasya Riley
Well joining the cast of that film ray finds and Hugh Laurie
Oh
Even more in now because that that dichotomy is beautiful
Why do I have the feeling that ray finds and Hugh Laurie the actual homes in Watson and these others do shlubs
They're just trying to be James gun says this week he has talked to marvel about a moonlight film
Wow, that's going deep, but I love that character. I'm a huge fan of that character
I've never really been able to wrap my head around they've got a table for him on I know I've got it
But that's about that's that's about the extent of my knowledge of being doing Johnson announced
This week that he that shazam is set for next no two years 2019 and they announced that thing like what to do two three years ago
He they've been talking about him being cast as black at him forever now
Um, oh Russ is saying that that no, he says Amy Polar is paying playing time. You're hearty Amy polar is producing that film
Okay, I don't know that she's playing her actually like Amy polar would
To a pair of job and it physically resembling yeah
So or your chick from the bronze oh Melissa Rouch yeah
Brian says he honestly believes
That that this kid's gonna do well spider-man. I do too. He's I do too. You said wait shaken bake his homes in Watson
Yep, that's happening. You heard me correct. I should not be anymore
And interested Mike Keegan Michael key has joined the cast of the new predator film
That's another one I'm kind of worried about I need I need a trailer. Yeah, I need a trailer
Uh, that's this summer, isn't it? I think so yeah, they need to drop moving you releases this week sleepless in case you don't have enough
Jamie Foxx and ti in your life
Don't have any and that's enough as a horror film called the bye-bye man. This looks here. Yeah, it looks it looks very
It looks like the slender man. Basically. It's it's it's it's a basically a male version of Bloody Mary
You say his name and then he'll spawn she it's got trinity from the matrix and whatever
And are you ready for wow that's dismissive are you ready for monster trucks?
Because monster trucks is this week that thing has suck written all over it
God that looks stupid. What are my favorite stories of recently is
A friend of the show Kevin Daniels also one half of the movie brothers
Took his kids to see something over the summer and the trailer started up
He goes my daughter looked at me and she goes
This is gonna be called monster trucks, isn't it
He goes had a bit of a tear in my eye
I mean, I swear it looks like a spoof. It looks like a spoof of a of a movie
It really does. I mean when I saw him like this got to be a fake trailer. This has to be a fake trailer
You know, this is for children, right?
It doesn't it doesn't mean it has to be crap
It doesn't mean it has to be absolute uttertrip this thing looks terrible
You know the standard for children is crap, right? That's the problem. Also this week
Uh, Gemma Adirton and Idris Elba in a movie called 100 Streets. Why the heck is she?
Three people three extraordinary stories all lived out within a hundred streets in London
So it's kind of one of those kind of things. I think I'd be interested in that or see that for insane monster trucks
DVD and blue writing releases this week the accountant
I'm looking for that with the benefit. I want to see that. I do. I'm very excited about that
Uh
Deepwater horizon this week. So our friends that allied integrated marketing
Gonna be doing some promotional work with that. So keep your eye on the horizon for that. No pun intended
The birth of a nation
Yeah, not the old one. Oh, yeah, this is the yeah
Max steel boy that came and went didn't it? That should tell you something
Kevin Hart what now and two interesting collections selections for the criterion collection this week his girl Friday
And I've been the 400 blows the fleany film
You stop
Do I know do I know my friends or do I know my friends
Some quick some quick tech corner stuff
Fans of final fantasy
Be aware that in the new brave xvs
Game one of the playable characters will be voiced by the ariana grande
Moving on. Yeah, Warner Brothers has canceled their suicide squad game
I didn't take very long
There is a new red box red Xbox one controller releasing this Tuesday
Take can I make an impassioned speech to Xbox right now
This is not a rant. This is a request. This is what you ask me about the other day um
Maybe I don't remember
First of all, I want to preface this by saying if you're here in the Dallas Fort Worth area
I would like you to do me a favor. I would like you to circle
January the 21st on your calendar
Uh, I have a nephew named Dalton who I love greatly. I'm gonna try to make it through this. So bear with me for a minute
um
He's been sick his entire life. He's he's a mobile for the most part
He needs a new bed
This is a very technically advanced bed that he needs and his medical coverage will not pay for
um
He's
19 I think now
And one of the funniest kids I know he's wonderful
January the 21st at the brick tavern in sassy. We're going to be having a fundraiser if you are
It's someone who rides a motorcycle. There will be a poker run involved. There's going to be live music
I'll be emceeing the event. I found out today. I've been asked to emcee
We're going to be raising a ton of money for him
I'll be posting it on Facebook. I'll be I'll be putting it on our website
I'll be putting it on our Facebook page all of our social media
It's going to start at noon. It's going to go till seven in the evening
So it's not going to take up your whole night on a Saturday
I've heard really good things about this venue
So we we really need everybody to come out and support Dalton and help us raise money to get him this new bed
My brother Ken his motorcycle group the southern dogs. They're sponsoring it nice
So we're very excited that those guys are going to be involved. I've heard there might be other motorcycle clubs getting involved as well
This is going to be a safe event
That everybody's going to be asked going to have a great time and it's going to be a 13 days from right now
So please join us if you're in the area on January the 21st there is a go fund me page bride Brian just ask me for it
I'll be reposting that on social media as well for him. I love this kid to absolute death. He's sweet dude
He's he's one of a kind and I really really want to make sure we get this done for him that being said
One of the things that his dad one of my closest friends in the entire world
Rick Futrell has asked me about is he has an Xbox one now. He has mobility in his hands
Not necessarily his arms but in his hands
But his problem with his Xbox one is that the controllers are too bulky
But they have not yet made a Xbox one slim controller. I have been looking high and low
There's nothing out there
So I am putting an impassioned request out to the people at Microsoft to the people that handle Xbox
If you know anybody
Involved we need an Xbox one slim controller because Dalton can't be the only kid that has a problem with this
I think I've actually seen this problem and I think I've seen it addressed
Okay, I didn't realize that that's what you were asking because you did ask me about this
Okay, I think we did talk about this right and I think what I have seen done for a kid that has a similar
Circumstance is that they've got an Xbox controller that
Functions much like the Wii and the Wii remote and the nunchuck controller. Okay. I think that there's something out that that they have developed
But I don't know how I don't know if it's been mass-produced
Brian says yes. They have it's called a scuff with one f controller
Uh-huh, so we'll have to look that up Brian. Thank you for that. I'm going to check on that after we get off air tonight
Absolutely, and I'm also going to send Ricky a text message and let him know
But yeah, I mean
He says it's like a ps4 controller, which I think is what he's looking for. Okay, so if I can find that
Thank you, sir. I'm going to get that message over to Ricky as well
um
This I'm just I'm kind of passionate about this because I love this kid and
I've literally known him since before he was born
Him and his sister both and his other sister. I love all I love this family and they were they were a family to me
When I didn't have any family here
They took me in on holidays. They took me on you know family events and things of that nature. I wouldn't be happier and most importantly to me
They facilitated our friendships, sir. They facilitate our friendship with that Ricky. I don't know you Brian says his son has one
Oh, really? Okay. Okay, good. So yeah, so um speaking of things video game related actually if you
Sure, but please please
Yeah, if you could actually send me the link to that event
Maybe I can get my
Jurassic Park motor pool of Texas group to show up. I would love that and I'm sure he would love that
Yeah, perfect. We'll do that right as we get off air for sure because I need the people at our church
Have asked for the information as well
So this I want this to be a huge deal. I want the fire marshal to show up
That's what I want that's right down the street from my dad's
Yeah, it's right over right in your dad's area town as well
We passed by yes, haven't in sassy one of the guys at our church said that's right up the street from where I work
And I've been wanting to check it out for months anyway, so now I have an excuse to I was I've been in there for it's
Previous incarnation. I haven't been in there for what this is now
It was a text mixed place on what it is now what they serve
But I did see the building the other and speaking of video games congratulations to Super Mario run
$14 million in three days
Requires a continuous internet connection unfortunately does it or it does
All right
I think we've burned through everything. We need to burn through on the run sheet
Are we ready gentlemen ready when you are part of the reason that Dave and Andrew were here tonight
Well part part of the reason is because they're awesome and they just want to be part of a bigger piece of awesome
This we are officially. I'll look at Green Bay running it back
This is just garbage time time garbage time touchdown and he trips at the 30
All right, so
It's time for us to finally do our best of and worst of for 2016
Chad and Don and myself we do this every year
We're going to do separate lists for movies and stage productions
What will probably do Dave and Andrew are here kind of for for moral support and to give their opinions on our opinions
But gentlemen
I'm gonna kind of
Leave it to you
Uh, do we want to do both worst of and both best of or do we want to do movies and stage productions?
Let's move just do movie and stage productions. Okay, so now so Chad's made that call Don
I'm gonna let you make the call which one do you want to do first? I like
Traditions. So let's do the stage productions. All right, so stage productions
Basically the way I do this is
I keep a running tally all year long
I don't wait till the end of the year because god knows I'm gonna forget stuff
So I keep a running tally this year. I have seen 19 stage productions
Between our friends at the AT&T performing arts center and our friends at
Dallas summer musicals who were big fans of both of those organizations and the Wiley and the Wiley's part of the AT&T performing arts center sir
Well, they're Dallas theater center. They're not that it was all together. Well, but either way either way we're good
So I'm actually gonna give my bottom five and then my top five
Brian talks about the local police and fire unions
Actually the southern dogs are a police and fire union motor cycle club. Oh good good the other day
Uh, we're gonna. I'm gonna actually do it from my fifth least favorite to my least favorite because if we're gonna go five
That's one. Yeah, I'm also gonna go 15 to 19. Well, I can only come up with three that I could give the word because you may
I because I don't know that you saw everything I did. I know you guys saw two productions that I didn't yeah
so
Chad will start with you your third least favorite production of the year
Bridges of Madison County
Interesting. All right, this we saw this in January. I believe of last year. This is a musical based on the film
That's based on the book right takes place in Iowa
uh
If you heard our deal
On this you know what we thought if not just go back and dig through and you can find it anything you want to say specifically
About this particular production
For me it lost me mainly for the same reason that Matilda lost me from the previous year because
People were forcing accents the the the primary you know the lead was forcing her accent so
So hard that
When she sang it was even worse than when she spoke the Broadway version featured Steven Pascal who you might remember from rescue me
He also played
um
The cop that got so much trouble during the OJ trial and Pete people versus OJ Simpson. Oh, uh, Furman
Yeah, he played Furman in that done. Do you have three or five? I have five. All right. Let's go to your
Fifth to yeah, five
Uh, I did bolts over Broadway
Really? I did not see that when you guys saw that one without me. I believed in you. Yeah
I thought I saw that one again. I think that one and um 40 seconds straight
No, I saw 40 centuries. It was that one and cabaret you guys all without but that's right. That's right
Yeah, I just I just thought it didn't work too well. I wasn't too impressed with the thing
I'm gonna shock everybody in the room right now. Okay, my fifth least favorite production of the year
Goes to wicked you are kidding me kidding you this is real
You know how I'm not a big fan of the Wizard of Oz true
This thing did not pick up for me till right before the break
This thing to me trudged along through most of the first act and once it picked up it was fine
But other than that
Do have many thoughts so far from from from the Estabicated Waldorf of this particular episode
No, okay
Now all right Chad your your silver award for worst of the year
I don't think anyone's gonna argue with me on this one. Okay ragtime
Maybe that was the other one you guys saw that I did I don't that was my number three
Well, we're at it actually maybe you guys saw three without yeah, I think we did
Marred with technical issues
uh the
Mist cues
Wardrobe malfunction yeah, cuz all three of those kind of got clumped together while I was on vacation. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did
It was just a mess. It was just a jumbled mess that the the thing just headed straight into a ditch
And they were just never able to pull it out all right Don and I feel the same and plus the plot they tried doing too
Mm-hmm it dragged it really dragged it was just uninteresting. What about your fourth worst of your life?
Fourth worst of the year is the Broadway Christmas Wonderland. We just saw last month that will come to me here in a moment
As will
uh
For me actually I have that one ranked one behind where he has his uh for me it was Rudolph
um
I didn't see that route off was it was good. It wasn't great. It was fun
Yeah, you don't let you're done with you look at the pantheon
Uh, no don was with me this year. No, I wasn't
That was good big Friday you were out of town
Me and Ninja saw the one like the year before
Um, it was fun
But when you look at the pantheon of of productions. We've seen this year
Any other year this might be ranked a little bit higher
So this is not really an indictment of that you're so strong. Yeah, it's just where it wound up
Chad and we're gonna hold off on yours because you've only got three
Don let's go to your third least favorite production of the year. Oh, it was right time and which I said which is okay
42nd Street
For me at 17 of 19 I have Broadway Christmas Wonderland this thing it was again. It was fun, but it wasn't great
Uh, if you're gonna rip off sister act to go the whole nine. That's all I'm saying
Uh, you're silver medal for worst of the year Don. Well, that was 42nd Street, that was my okay
Okay, okay, so yeah, yeah, yeah, cuz yeah, cuz yeah, my bronze turkey went to break time and then 42nd Street gets my silver
My silver turkey went to Chad's bronze turkey for bridges of Madison County the musical
Oh
Technically great. Yeah, enjoy it. Enjoy it technically. It's just it it really really falls short in the performance
I just think it lends itself well to a music your official golden turkey of stage production in 2016 Chad
The Broadway Christmas
It was trying to be a jack of all trades and wound up being a master of none
It it it was trying to appeal to all audiences, but it would mainly
bore the full out of one while it was trying to appeal to the other Brian said he really enjoyed wicked. I just couldn't get into it
Uh, Don you're golden turkey
If that I knew it. Yep, I knew it
Yeah, wow, that did not work. We saw that in January as we did. Yeah
Yeah, I remember that that when I was going back through the review archive
Yeah, when I went back to the review archive. I'm like, I know this is the one that he said it was probably gonna be his least favorite
For me it was one that neither one of you guys saw
At the wily it was called Bell and America
Yeah, I remember you eviscerating that one this wow
The only way I can say this and Dave I don't know if I even described it to you this way
If sir mix a lot wrote a musical that was set in post civil war America
Yeah, it would be this musical sounds like the sequel to Hamilton
When bells all of her power I'm I kidding you want to say this the main character Bell
Her power comes from her butt and it's not in a taco bell kind of way. Oh god
Is it gonna be twerking all over the stage at one point the butt is removed
Yeah, this thing was a mess and as much as we we hate to to talk badly about things because but our our vendors
They want us to be honest. It's our jobs and and honestly, I'm probably not alone in this box
It sounds like something that Joey Trubiani would have been involved in and
All right, so let's let's go ahead and move on to our top five of the year
Chad do you have a top three or did you go top five? I got top five. All right number five
Your aforementioned wicked
Wow, well think about we got a lot of polar opposites going on and that's fun number four think about okay
Well think about it think about when we went to go see that thing what day did that fall on it was in April if it was April 21st
That's uh the day the music died for me
Oh, that was that same day wasn't it? Yeah, so you called me that day said are you up for this?
I'm like dude something has to pull me out of this. It was a very dark day for me my favorite performer ever
Had passed away that morning. What was that? Yeah, that you're funny
And I knew that this was something that I really needed to do for myself and it was something that I it was it was a bucket
Laced item already well, and it was also one of those that we weren't sure we were getting
Yeah, we were lucky to even get in the door so there was no way I was gonna walk away from it
Uh, and it didn't disappoint me now
I've got an attachment to Wizard of Oz that you will never have because it's true
You're pretty far removed. I was in the Wizard of Oz in high school
And ironically enough when I left the cast party for that show make me I
Yeah, when I left the cast party for that production
Princess sound of the times it opened in theaters that that you went to a theater that night and saw it
So it was almost like the history repeating itself in reverse. So we know that's Don's number four
But Don what's your number five?
The little mermaid I had little mermaid at eight
I
Thought it works so still top ten. It's still just hot. I love the sets on the girl that played her was beautiful
Well, first off because I will you know wicked because we'll just talk about now wicked
I thought the just like with little mermaid the sets were incredible the lighting when they use the black lights and everything on little mermaid
You felt like you're under the sea. I love the guy the foot Sebastian. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's one problem
I had with mermaid it was that constant undulation of the actors
Yeah, there were two in the hole. It was making me a little woozy
My number five again, this was one that my number five and number four were productions knit neither one of you went to
My number five was the performance of dream girls at the wily. Yeah, I did want to see this was amazing
This whole cast was dead on they crushed it
Probably one of the best productions I've seen at the wily period end of statement in the last three years
That is a bold statement because we've seen some good ones. So yeah, that was and I believe that was a local production too
And they did an amazing job that repertoire company that keeps that did I want to say yes, okay
There were there were turntables in the stage that came out and it was really they do a lot with very little. Yes, they do
Chad your number four
One that you did not see, okay
Cabaret, okay, I kind of figured that was where we were going. Oh my god. Don you feel me on this one? That's my number three
His five is my four his four is my three. I have yeah the emotional impact especially with how it ends
Which I'm not going to give away here. Yes left me
chilled to the bone. I mean, it's like I've never experienced an audience in either in the wind spear or at the
Adalus
Fairpark musical that they didn't know they should clap or not
Because you described it to me. I was I
Yeah, it broke the edge and the guy who played that lead. Oh, God. Oh, yeah. I mean, it was it was a you know
It's chilling but it was a breath fresh air. It's not your year's little happy go lucky. Oh, that's what Cabaret is
And I was very sobering. It was one of those things where like that was at the at the wind spear. It was at the wind spear, huh
Don you're number four
Which we talked about was wicked. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that was a fair park for our friends Adele summer musical
I mean beautiful the scenery everything, you know, of course
It was still a great performance even though they're the issue with the other people the crowd
My number four was another production you guys did not see and I could not be more thankful for
For Cindy for helping me out with this
Mike were bigly a thank god for jokes
That figure you were gonna say that
I was worried going into this show
And plus the fact it just happened to work out that friend of the friend of the show Nick Bartlett came in from
From England he was coming in for him. Oh, that's right. Yeah, so I was able to pick him up at the airport
We wouldn't had serious pizza for dinner and then we went and saw Mike berbiglia
I was worried that in my mind this show was going to be too overhyped
um
Mike McRae another Bob and Tom favorite open for him. So I was very excited about that
Berbiglia crushed it and this was the next to the last stop on the thank god for jokes tour
It was Dallas and then San Antonio and that was it wow
He absolutely crushed it
Everything was dead on his timing was perfect
He is interaction with the crowd was great. It did not let me down
so
I could not have been more happy with that particular performance Chad yours your bronze medal
beautiful
I have oh I have beautiful number two
Was not expecting to enjoy this thing as much as I did as much as I admire and respect her as a songwriter as a performer
I didn't realize how much of her music I really love this was my silver metal recipient for this year at the windspir
Opera House. This is the musical based on the life of Carol King and it's and she killed it. Oh, yeah, she killed it. She
I
I kept waiting for
The actor to come out that was playing Carol King because because she was she was too good at what she did
She was a man. I still point out
The sequence where they're recording you make me feel like a natural woman
Do on it's a goosebump moment. Yes
Oh, somebody said so so I think I know what that thing that might be a delivery of somebody will go get that
And if they turned down the TV in the other room if you would the remote should be sit on the couch
Don yours your bronze metal
Was cabaret. Oh wow, okay. I'm right. We're doing like the one ahead and everything like that
No cabaret. I loved I mean the the music was great
It wasn't too much of it just a happy go lucky and broke the fringe the acting by a lot of the the cast was incredible
I left it kept me interested
It wasn't just oh another boring song. No, this was great. I remember you called me
Yeah, afterwards. Yeah, I was on vacation
I was like I wish you could get a chance to see this thing because my bronze metal
And if one of you doesn't have this as at least silver. I will be utterly shocked
The 20th anniversary tour of a rent that's my silver
Both of you this is your silver metal my brother. Yeah, this thing
I heard rent for the first time in
1997 I was dating a girl who was who had been living in New York and then moved back home to Texas
She I want to say she did see this on Broadway and it's original run
and she couldn't stop talking about it
So I finally listened to it to it with her one day and it absolutely destroyed me
And so going into this I was like this bar is set high
And this cast killed it
I've seen the theatrical version and as powerful as that is
It doesn't even come close to capturing the emotion on stage when you see it in person
So we've covered both of your silver medals, right? Yeah, that just comes back around to you
You know, you're kind of like it was like your breath like friends and all that. I mean, I really loved it
And it really encapsulates the time frame very well without seeming dated
Yeah, which I loved about it like you knew it was in the 90s, but it didn't seem like
No, it just it felt like a microcosm of anyone's life in that time and in that time and place
My my silver medal goes to beautiful the Carol King musical
It was my number. I just man. I love this thing. I love this thing so much
Now let's get to the gold medal chat your gold medal greatest stage production you saw in 2016 for entertainment value surprise factor
The complete unexpected something I again had no idea. I was going to love it nearly as much as I did
What's the last one we saw the book of Mormon book of Mormon. I have it six
So it's right out of my right outside of my top five. Oh god. It's my gold medal
Really? Okay, I have not been that entertained by musical and I don't know how long
I have not laughed that hard and a musical because I again
I didn't give tray Parker and Matt Stone a shot and it does have the award of being iTunes exclusive number two 15
This is true. I mean it broke every barrier of what
Production it it stepped on toes it tweaked noses. It didn't care who defended. I was so entertained laughing and so many times
I thought you were gonna break your
And how the crowd was just like oh my god, they actually talked about that then they actually I still didn't get that because yeah
I was like this is tray Parker and Matt Stone. How do you not know what you're getting into a lot of people don't a lot
There were people in that that really struck you as a South Park crowd in that room, but still no
I just do your research, but I mean now people walked out
You know what tough on that. Yeah, it was okay
Don for it. Yeah
We have been friends for many many years now. Yeah, I value your friendship
I value your opinions. Yes, and I value yours
But I'm gonna have to hit you with a chair
Why because my favorite production of the year is if then?
Welcome
It was just outside of my top five this bat million dollar quartet
We're just thank for those you that don't know what if then it is we saw this at the wind spear
It is this a story of a young lady who basically gets to a crossroads in her life
And what the musical does is it it covers
Either way she could have gone
So you really have to pay attention because there's two different storylines going on at the same time the lighting's different the
Characters are different I thought it was brilliant
It was done by Idina Menzel on Broadway. It was made for it was written for her
You could tell because the girl that played her she it was just like the guy that played
Cunningham and Josh get that was Josh get
I love this musical so much. Yeah, I did too. I did too and it was like if you're a fan of the flash on CW
This is flashpoint the musical
It is a as a parallel
universe storyline and it's it impressed the heck out of me and you know and but that's what you get on this show
You get a a multitude of opinions from all different angles
All right, I think we can wake the other two up now because we're about to talk about movies. Yeah, it's okay
You went cultured swine. Well, Dave didn't go get my delivery from the doors
I don't get to go to musical sir because I have to yeah be either all right
So we're now going to go I have actually seen 78 films
In 2016 that's how long my list is
So I believe I are both of you guys prepared for top 10 bottom 10 uh-huh
The turkeys first all right, so Don we're gonna start with you from your
From go again from 10th worst to absolute worst all right, we're gonna start with you your 10th least favorite film of 2016
chronologically, so this gonna be kind of hard for me first off. I do have I do have a couple honorable mentions. Okay, yes honorable at this point
Yeah, dishonorable mentions. Okay, one is we we can't talk about it because embargo's not up was Patterson
Okay, I also would make the list right 45 years did not work for me. I love that film and unfortunately
To me well to like it this wouldn't made my list except I rented it over the holiday was the Ghostbusters that should have been made
I like that film. I know I don't like that film now. I like that film the next two vice versa. We've been friends for a long time
All right, so you're 10th least favorite film of the year Jackie
She did not work her voice was ignoring it was 90 minutes long sit back here. I know we did this something when the lightning comes to the roof
This is any revisited when when Natalie Portman has more hardware than a home depot by June
Well, you know, you know, it's something in the air when they did the you know screenings worldwide
But no, your voice kind of annoying to me in a putter in a bad light. It was 90 minutes. No, it's your opinion and I respected
Yeah, I just don't understand why I understand your love for it, you know
Oh my god
Yes, with Natalie Portman. Oh, yeah
Let me see where I actually thank you. Let me see where I actually had that I thought I made your top 10
Um, it actually did and we'll talk about that a little bit later. This is gonna be one where we had all right
Chad your 10th least favorite film of the year and for me it was yeah, it literally is a least favorite
I don't really do consider this one of the worst films I saw but it was one of my least favorite was the finest hours
I had that at my 11th least favorite film of the year. Yeah, it's it was
It was good the Chris Pine right being the Coast Guard. Uh-huh. Yes
I love the story. You just didn't do much for me. Yeah, it came across as very
I don't think it was any coincidence. It's very perfect storm-ish
Which means Brandon Ross would love this
Exactly
It could have been good if they would have just I don't know what they could have done to fix it
But something just felt off okay for me my 10th least favorite film of the year
And it's because I am so not the target demo for this film because
Nicholas Sparks is not really in my pantheon of books that I read
the choice
Good performances not great performances
And I'm not a 12 year old girl
Don number nine
You're gonna hate me on this one too. I know I will
And the Ginger Ninja grease with me on this I know this already. I know you could you cut him a check two and a half hours
I mean two hours of boredom and a little fight seemed just like star wars episode two Batman versus Superman
That did not work
Board me
And there were so many things like he could fly with the kryptonite
Yeah, he has no powers. He's around kryptonite. How can you take a big rock with kryptonite and five
He's fine very close to the ground that his powers were waning when it happened. I don't care
It's still bored me. It's two hours of boredom. They tried to make up a fight scene. That was only okay
I absolutely love that film. I know dear baby Jesus line in the manger. I'll make him mild still I'm happy
I can't disagree with you more. I
I want to pray for patience
For other standing I would like to apologize
Great to the people down to get anything out of there. I'm sorry that man branding people in the movie. Holy cheese
Yeah, let's let's let's see that it's coming up. It's coming up
He looks like a welder
It's called armor
Now get to the point on this comic book movies where a lot more has to be explained about different universe
Saddi-good foundation. I don't care about saddi-good foundation. It was boring. I'm still laughing at baves
Very very Archie Bucker holy cheese
And yeah
Actually, probably children behead
Okay, let's take it out of the ditch
I need you to go I need I need I need to go to number nine. I need to just do this right now
You need me to go. Yes, please. Uh, this was a tough call for me
Because as impressive as his performance was the movie
Lacked okay miles ahead
Miles ahead. I have
At 44 right kind of in the middle. Cheatle was so good
But they did so little with this there was not enough meat on the bones of the story
Dress on a pig syndrome. Yeah, yeah, I mean he was the only really good thing about it
And that's not enough my number nine. It's kind of in this number nine is kind of in the same vein as yours
Uh, it was a musical biopic
I see the light oh
The the hate thing the yeah the Loki and Scarlet Witch playing mr. and Mrs. Hank Williams
That's what I have to say about that
Don number eight
Uh
The one that I think I'm the only one that saw touch with fire
About them so you want to kill it with fire. Yes, the mental issue thing and all that
I agree. I like what they try to do with it, but it was boring and did not work all right chat
This is another one that pained me because this is something that was very near and dear to my wife's heart
And it was a movie that I really wanted to like and it just didn't give me enough to like and given the powers involved with Disney and Spielberg
the bfg
Should have been a much better bfg
I had it 64 it should have been a much better. It was in my bottom third. Yeah, it should have been a much better film than it was
Hey, I visually gorgeous. Yeah, it looked great, but you know
Drives on a pig type thing my number eight
Anthropoid
This was the movie about the kids that have were tasked to kill Hitler's second in command. Oh with the civilian Murphy. Yes. Okay. Yeah
This had so much potential and went absolutely nowhere. It looked decent performances
It dragged on slower than a turtle on an oil slick in a school zone
this thing
Oh dear heavenly mother of the almighty. I was like
This was one of those because you know, how do we judge how I feel like a film is paced
How many times you look at your watch?
The first time you look at your watch the first time I looked at my watch
I am not kidding you if I remember correctly we were five minutes in yikes
She was okay, but nothing shit. Yeah
All right don't wait. We got that on DVD didn't we? Yes, we did. We did a screener for that number seven for you Don the one that
Was false advertising beyond belief where it was actually a movie about a dog instead of a dragon
Because it looked like a dog from Harry Potter. Pete's dragon. Oh
Wow, I hated that film. I didn't even look like a dragon a boring and everything else. Wow
Now where did you have that?
You don't want to know yet. I had a 21
You don't want to know yet. Oh dear
All right, your number seven sir, please. Hey
I don't know how many times I feel like they have to tell this story
And it doesn't really matter who they use to tell the story. It's still the same story
The legend of Tarzan
I never saw that I never saw it either
I'm not saying we're not talking about movies. Oh, oh, oh
I can't remember which one you were talking with this one that came out in July right? Yeah, yeah with Margot Robbie and Samuel Jackson and Kristall vaults
It's just one of those films that didn't need to exist
I'm like we've told this story so many times and see it and and and and so much better so many times
And it just this this remake whatever you want to call it
Just wasn't necessary my number seven and if neither one of you have this on your bottom 10 list
I'm going to ask you to check your life choices
Gods of Egypt I never saw it you the only one I'm the only one. Yeah, yeah
Was that was that one of us where you and I saw one thing and he saw something else? Yes, that might have been a divide and conquer
Yeah, this is that oh
Yes, and and this is part time with some of the worst
CGI in the history of ever of a film that was screaming for a John Oliver of this still a thing thing yes
Which made this is a god of Egypt this guy this this may show up on the reboot of ms t3k
I'm not
The trailer. I'm like this is a joke this
This was the monster trucks you were with me, weren't you weren't you my plus one that night?
This was the monster trucks from this past year. This was one of those we walked out of the theater and I was just like
This is not gonna go well
This is this review is not going to go well
All right, so we're up to number six on the least favorite films of the year don
Can I give a little advice to people who write movies
You've never stopped you before you need permission kids see kids do
Even though they give a warning when they when in the cartoon, which kids are gonna
I'll be sipping my lemonade over here
When they take a loaded rifle and look down the barrel of a loaded rifle in the cartoon
That's not a smart thing to do where he's going with this a film a cart to animate feature that did not work
The wildlife it was boring. Yeah, nation was okay. It it was a horrible. I had this at 60
Of 78. Yes, I mean when they say kids don't do this, but then they look down a
Loaded the barrel for those of you want to wear this is a
Retelling of the story of Robinson Crusoe by his parent. Yes, yes, this was done. This is I believe a Swedish film
Uh, that was the rights were bought to make it in America and it's terrible
Terrible is too not worth all right Chad
Where we at number six?
I know you like this film, but this is the kind of humor that just doesn't appeal to me
Just the irritant type humor. I was not a fan of the bronze
Actually, I have it at 66 of 78 so it was just outside of my bottom 10
I really did enjoy this film. She was one of the most annoying
Characters I've ever released a route to you know from the big bang theory
How are you doing?
She plays a former Olympic gymnast who has basically become an absolute witch with a bee
And she has to coach basically the girl what's going to take her place and
Let's just say there's a certain scene in this film that was highly ranked by Mr. Skin
This year and that is a true story because I heard him on Bob and Tom a couple of weeks ago
That that wasn't really her so my number six
I'll take a moment
In the immortal words of the great philosopher the great American
Gerald Seinfeld
What is the deal with Bible movies? I don't know
I want to talk to the people that made risen for just a minute
Your movie is terrible
Can we stop making faith-based movies
Just for the sake of making faith-based movies. Can we make quality films? I enjoyed God's not dead
I enjoyed that film. I'm looking forward to watching the sequel at some point
From what I hear now you're gonna watch it anyway
This is tripe
I'm a Roman soldier and I don't believe in Jesus, but all of a sudden I gotta go find Jesus because the body's disappeared
So I'm gonna go look for Jesus
I would like to watch that movie is terrible
If you watch that movie
No, he really doesn't if he did you might have something
And I believe what an Adam Sandler. I think one of the fines is in this
Would you like a piece of Christian pie? No
But you like a piece of Christian
Number five dawn if I had a watch gauge on this one
I would have been watching it like every 10 minutes or even five minutes. It was that bad. All right
What I call the British version of the Kardashians
The app fab movie
Absolutely, I noticed the movie. I haven't 63 of seven idiot ladies who are privileged to act like a bunch of
Idiots even bigger than me, but I get that but I think I think with this film though
It wasn't funny, but but what this film was made for fans of app fab. Yeah, let's just call it for what it is
So we again, not the target demo for that show. It's still never watched that show
It was a love letter to its fans
So I it doesn't shock me that this isn't your bottom 10
It also isn't shock me that it was just outside of my bottom 10
And it's just because we didn't really get into that film Chad
Where we at number five number five London has
I actually had this a little bit higher on my list London has fallen. I have it 50 so almost right in the middle
I had fun with this. I really did. I had fun up until the third act and then like the video game
It became absolutely ridiculous just it
John McClain doesn't have the kind of luck that this guy has as far as avoiding danger in in harm
It's I was like no, come on. It's just it fell apart at the end for me
I don't want it to like my number five
When you're in a movie theater
And you might be sitting with your friends and and maybe those friends
I don't want to mention any names, but maybe their initials are Don Ford and Andrew Beckham
And you're sitting in a movie theater
And maybe that movie theater arrives with schmuteos movie mill
and
the saga
Of the drinks you have ordered
That never show up and you get charged for is more entertaining than the film itself
And I love the Chloe Grace Moritz. I'm a big thing and we time the drink thing
We did and how many other people got their drinks after you love them
The table next to you who are people that do are ordering water and nothing else
Got their drinks before I didn't I never got it
Ordered after you you turn in a bill coffee
And if it was a good movie and yes, I'm talking about the fifth wave if it was a good movie that might have balanced it out
I heard nothing but bad things about that movie. Yeah, this this film shan
Very passionate about your hate for this film. I know the hate is the hate is strong
I'm closer to one. I got two order. Disorder mentions. I forgot if you know anything about this show
You know what my metalists are
But but I would give a dishonorable mention also to the fifth wave and also
The pen and state the reboot of that. I didn't actually did not watch that
All right now we're into or just outside the metal round because we're up to number four Don
This is kind of gonna be one of those like under the skin where some people really loved it
You're like what the heck yeah, but nobody bought it for you on DVD. Hey, you said bring it, but that was last year
That was your one only be happy now
Like friend of the show Brian who we all love you know the critic Brian kluger. Yes big fan of him
He made like his top 10 of the year. I know quite a few people that did this film did not work for me
It's only I saw it. I think was the witch
Oh, okay, I thought I'm not something else. Oh, no, no, no, no, it's about my number four. You know, which I did not see
I have actually my boss actually saw it and was like what the crap with this
Or should it be called the
Please send out
Chad number four before we get to the metal round
Uh, number four was Alice through the looking glass
Really god this thing was awful don't why did you have that you know he was in the middle? I thought was okay
But daughter is a big Alice in the Wonderland fan she she loves those she loved the first film
Went to see the second one she came out of it said that was terrible. It was it was
Oh over use of CG just it it was nonsensical
It just the parent the time paradoxes. It just uh, it's they jumped the shark
My number four is a film that critics are lauding. I know quite a few critics that have this on their top 10 of the year
this film
Being the fourth worst film of the year for me. I will nominate it as my
chair shot of the year award
And it has some of my favorite actors in it
Nocturnal animals
Really this thing was tripe
Tevin acting was great. He got acting was good. It deserves like a nom. I think
So does Jill Michael Shannon, you know from from from
Goal yeah, yeah, I mean, I think Jill and how they deserve the nod for it
I thought was okay, but I I could see why you didn't like it the opening seven minutes of this film
If you can get past that
Ask me about it off air
Because you think of a film like nocturnal animals about a woman who
Is a you know, she's remarried her second her first husband sends a book that he's been working on and she sees it as a parallel to her
Amy Adams how you doing?
uh
The opening to this film if you were to pick an opening for a film like this
There's no way you would have picked this opening to this film because everybody in the entire room was going
I have a question
Are we watching the right is this the movie?
This is this is the movie we're seeing right
It's all I'm saying
Now let's get into the metal round
If you know me none of my metal round should shock you
And I want to say I think all of us may have the same gold metal
I'm willing to wait you
Don bronze metal go I think our three metal movies may be in a little different order for two and all the two and three
But in ones good but my number three
Weenerdog as is mine
Chad I avoided winter dog because you advised me to avoid your dog. Okay, you didn't see weenerdog. So okay, so yes
Weenerdog is was just like what was that first of all it's Todd solens
So if you know what you're getting about Todd solens you know you're not getting something normal
You know the guy likes shock value
But what did the depths he goes to in this film plus you got credit girl wake. He just wears me out to begin with
And Danny to be though and Andrew was there
You're terrible. I'm glad. I'm glad. I had this is one of the very few times in my life
That I'm glad the ending of this film was spoiled for me before I went in
Guess he would oh god, and it would it and it also gave me the opportunity to talk to people that I know the ending of this would absolutely
Get to yeah, and say look
I'm not trying to spoil this for you, but I have to spoil this for you because I know you this is what's going to happen
And every single person I said that to look me dead in the eye and said thank you. Yep. I know I did because if you didn't if you hadn't done this
I probably would have thrown something. Yeah
That was the last thing in the world. I quit a girl and get it. She wears me out
You're got your bronze medal. I sage collision course
You're not the bronze. The bronze really bronze dude. You know how bad I hated that film. I sage collision course. I have it 40
I enjoyed it. No, right?
It's like should they have made it? No, no kill that one off and focus on the peanut series
Weiner dog was also my bronze medal
If you love turkey, well same thing
If you love animals in any way shape or form do not see this film do not do not because it's not about a dog
the dogs just kind of the
Spirit guide and did it's a spirit animal just trust me just trust me
If you if you've never trusted me before and you're you're holding on to that one thing you're gonna trust me in this is it watch for rooms instead
That's not about
Silver medal done my silver turkey, which I think we probably have the same two and one is a film
That I
You bought for me. Yes, it is another one. I didn't see because y'all told me not to where I got uncomfortable on that
If you knew I was just like you saw me twinge in that chair. Yeah on front of you
Yeah, film because I'll care for you so much. I want you to have it permanently on DVD
The great
On demons demon singular. I'm sorry, but yeah, the the necrophilia
Yeah, hold on hold on let's let's mute the mic because we need to tell our guests about this, but I have to mute the mic to do it
Hold on I'm using mics right now
And that's the last 20 minutes of the movie and that was like impromptu on the that's really my friday night
Yeah, I was waiting for that. This is also my silver medal award winner silver turkey same difference
Let it go
We gotta say turkey this movie
Although the only thing keeping this from being the gold medal recipient
Is the number of people that walked out
Mm-hmm
Like this movie
God it's so bad like
And I see these people like are like raving about it. I'm like did we see the same film?
You're not under the same use of substance as they are that's fair that's fair
Chad is that your silver medal no, I didn't see it remember. Okay, what's your silver medal? You are not gonna like me
Neither is Dave. That's the reason I'm sitting behind the desk. Yeah, you got it
I'm surprised you actually watched it
I did because I wanted to see it for myself. I'm like it can't possibly be as bad. I had ghost posters at 47
It can't possibly be as bad as I kept hearing and it wasn't it was worse
And I wanted to like that movie. I really wanted to I got you. I enjoyed this film. I enjoyed this film
Oh god, this was I saw it. I'm x3d. I enjoyed a chain reign wreck
And it was so much better than
Yeah, I had extremely low expectations for it too and somehow it was worse than what I expected
I was crushed by that film
Okay, so do all of us have the same worst film of the year? We're the director's initials TM by any chance. Yes
Yeah, can I take this one?
Can I go ahead and start you have the floor worst film of the year from all three of us and if all three of us agreed and Andrew
Terence Malax night of cups
Never in my life have I seen a film
That was more disjointed
If you're gonna shoot without a script
Don't do it this badly
He I'm sick and tired of all tours getting a free pass
So here George Lucas say the words at his AFI awards that
He's the he's the most celebrated director with the smallest body of work outside of Terence Malax
I don't know why actors clamor to this man. I don't I never will
When you've got actors of this caliber people like Christian Bale
So
People like isn't is it is it have your partimates in this or was it in Tony Benderes? Yeah
Uh, Brian didn't he was in this great Brian didn't he
And it made no sense. No, it was it was like a two and a half it may not even been that long
But it felt like five and a half hours of an of an of a Calvin Klein of session commercial
Or the Matthew McConaughey Lincoln commercials
It's just this it's just a weird for the sake of being weird. Okay. This was the plot
You had a guy name as you sit on the review Rick
And you got a guy named Rick who works in Hollywood
likes to date women goes on a trip to Vegas like just to walk on the beach and likes to walk in the desert and has daddy issues
in daddy issues
That's it that's it that's the plot
Can we just cleanse this and get to our top 10 yeah, yeah, yeah, we need we need a valid
Done your top 10 number 10 favorite show of the year a couple honorable mentions
masterminds that's one of I got that a 13 great the the haulers
The haulers I have a 20
Moonlight
Moonlight I did not see you saw I just saw I did you just get a notification of that our friends over at the movie
Brothers just posted their review of it so they do have a review available as well lion and all lion
I have it 15 and also Deadpool
Because I'm giving a superhero. I know that was great. Yeah, yeah
Honorable mentions for me just outside of my top 10 hidden figures
Which dropped this weekend go see this movie we talked about it earlier the magnificent seven
um
What else law-law land I have an 18 trolls
Chat any any other mentions. No, I just did a street. All right. Don number 10 the infiltrator
You I did not see this when you did. Yeah, it's about the guy who goes under
Cover kind of a true story and he played that Brian Cranston. Yeah, I think it was all right. I imagine he
Did the role so real life of being undercover because you know my law enforcement background and everything that
You know, I do some undercover people and he's out with this wife and all of a sudden
You know on his personal time and all of a sudden some people he's undercover, you know trying to infiltrate. They see him
It's like hey, this is my secretary. You know kind of things. Yeah, it was played great. Really
Chad your number 10
Civil war
This is my number nine
Man
This was the year of the superhero film good lord you couldn't you couldn't walk through a month without finding something wearing a cape
And there were plenty of capes in this film
Setting up a lot of what's to come also setting up something some of the events that are going to affect the animated series as well
I saw commercial for that today for the next version of the
Avengers Ultron revolution very well-constructed film by the rooster brothers. They just continue to
seem to have their finger on the pulse of of Marvel and their cinematic universe
It was so well done
Took what you got from the winter soldier and made it even somehow made it better
You want to laugh? I actually just finally made it through like last week, right? Yeah, what you think bro
Oh, I absolutely loved it. I was mind blowing
My number 10 is a movie that released wide this week, but it did get a 2016 release
And I think I may be the only person in the studio that are don actually it's and I both saw it a monster calls
Oh god, I want to see this movie so bad. I am not ashamed to say it's in my top 20
I cried three times in this film
Full on I should have grabbed some tissues on the way into the theater tears rolling down my face
People there were when don and I saw it there were maybe eight people because it was a press only screening
There was a lady on the other side of my road that was
Audibly sobbing
Wow, it's it's a gorgeous film. It's beautifully shot this smooth smcd google kid
There's a reason he got the the the nod for the golden globe. It's that good. It looks remarkable. It looks actually remarkable
good
If you are a parent if you know somebody who is
This film is
Amazing and if it does not affect you on a molecular level
Check your pulse. He's talking to us Dave
I wouldn't I'm just trying to write down a name. It's called a monster calls Liam Neeson plays the voice of the monster
um
Felicity Jones is in it Sigourney weavers in it
It's basically the story is there's this kid and his his mom is dying
And he's trying to deal with it and
As he's trying to deal with it this tree monster because there's a they live by a church that has a graveyard
And there's a tree in the graveyard and the tree comes to life and it tells the kid
I'm going to tell you three stories. You're going to tell me the fourth story
I I walking into this film. I wasn't sure what to expect
Walking out
I literally just had to just take a walk
Just to just clear my head it just this
This movie will affect you on the most
Basic of levels it to summarize it to me. It looks like the iron giant with a giant grute
Kind of sort of yeah, just on its base level not nowhere near the psychological or
No, it's live action
And it looks but this CGI work and this is amazing beautiful gorgeous
Is it so is this available out now? It just released in theaters this weekend
Okay, so our our our written review is up at www dot the clubhousepodcast.com
Don that's you
That's our website. Thank you
Don number nine uh, this might be higher on a lot of your guys's list. Okay
Moana
Moana for me it's slightly
31 wow, I thought be hired for you. We saw a lot of great films this year. Yeah
Again, that's not an indictment that when Moana is not a good film. We've just seen so many great films in 2016
But the animation wasn't really was I mean that scene is beginning with the ocean going and then doctored in
some of those shots in
They're taking that journey and everything
Beautiful where we have gone with animating water from 20 years ago to today is just
Stunning to me and so much of this is based in the world. What didn't rank this movie higher for me
Was I couldn't get Dwayne locked into the role for a few minutes. It didn't take me long it didn't take me long either
And I thought it would take me I thought it would take me out of it as well
And what kept it he sold it what kept it from going even any farther south was one line
If you sing I'm throwing you off this wrap
Because that's what drove me nuts about frozen
Too much singing chat number nine trolls
For me number 17 love this movie and I told you this earlier today Dave
Love this movie. It's an unexpected delight
To me trolls with this year of trolls was last well actually last year
Was the previous year's peanuts movie okay? I wasn't expecting to I was hoping it was going to be good
And I was pleasantly surprised that it surpassed all the expectations a adorable film
You won't lose dad points. You'll gain dad point and you won't lose man point. Yeah. Yeah. There's another film coming up later
That's the same way in a Kendrick how you doing? I have to watch Jurassic Park again
My number nine was Captain America Civil War
This movie was better than it had to be
Although I was a little miffed in the way they did it, but then I was like oh no
It's not Marvel Civil War. It's Captain America Civil War. Okay, Disney. I see what you did there um
It's great. Yeah, it's what I hoped Age of Ultron was going to be yeah
Age of Ultron did drop the ball a little bit for me Age of Ultron. That was the year before last year
Yeah, so that wouldn't be on this year's list. All right. Don number eight
My number eight is one. I don't know if you guys saw or not, but we addressed it earlier with the
Give away with the ally and the graded marketing
Catchy it's catching on I wrote that I wrote that jingle. Yes, he did. I'm proud for you deep water horizon
I did not get to see it. Yeah, I'm looking forward to checking it out
As it does release on DVD and Blu-ray this week. I know it's you know mark you mark from Paris, Texas, but no
He's got a transform in his body. I got an oil rig. It's out in the barn. It's in a Gulf of Mexico. No, this one. What? No
I liked how it showed the grit of what probably happened on that thing it pulled no punches of like how
Bad this thing was when exploding how people got injured and all that other stuff
It was like real life if someone was really there. I mean it showed that okay
In the CGI was incredible. You felt like your watch didn't you Hudson play his wife's little girlfriend or whatever
Yeah, I gotta give heads up to that one. I thought he was so real life and everything. Yeah, I surprised at jet number eight
Finding Dory finding Dory. Oh, where did I have that goodness mercy? That's like my top 25
I go ahead. Don't let me stop you stop and see that either. Oh, man
I never thought that Ed O'Neil could personify a character finding Dory at 49 wow, but again
There's so many great films this year. I never thought that Ed O'Neil could personify a character as well as he did Al Bundy
Somehow he's managed to do that with a septipus
with Olson from it's always sunny in Philadelphia. He plays a good role in this too. Oh, oh, that's right. She's destiny, isn't she?
That's kind of surprising, but
Again, it wasn't nearly as good as as finding Nemo, but it was better than it needed, but it was a lot better than it needed and it was it was different
Because because they're kind of hitting miss on their sequel prequel track record
This was more on the plus side than the negative side. It was really really fun. Really enjoying my number eights
Hacksaw Ridge. That's my number seven. Let's talk about it this movie. I'm saving that one
Again for those of you that are listening to this right now and you're saying to yourself Rob. It's a Mel Gibson film. I won't support it
Go ahead and remove that policy
Yeah, because this does not have this does not feel like anything Mel Gibson has done
It's I said it before and I'll say it again
I will take this is the best war story. I have seen since band of brothers and I will put this above private Ryan
Wow, yeah, I'm not this is not a bit this is real because for me private Ryan relied too much on the first 20 minutes
Yeah, where has Hacksaw Ridge is amazing from the opening credits to the closing credits three different. It's that
Good like Cali full metal jacket was three different movies and I thought also the realistic brutality of that last third of the movie
It pulled no punches. This was war and Garfield crushes it
Vince Vaughn's the only American in it. Yeah, you're thinking Vince Vaughn. Yes, that Vince Vaughn
He was amazing
great
Don number that's my sense. Okay, that's your number seven. Chad your number seven
The aforementioned Moana okay
Fair enough my number seven is one of Don's least favorite films of the year and because I think he's on drugs
Jackie
But that's how she talks
She didn't work it didn't work
That's how she talks she did not she did and she tried to fail
Denied deny deny deny all you want sir, but you haven't you haven't seen this yet have you know I have okay
But I know how Jackie this is going to be the tie break on this okay because it is
Amazing how polar opposite Don and I are on this film and again when she's got more hardware than a home depot by June
I will be proven right
because it's
It's almost eerie how good she is in this
When you're using the actual audio from the White House tour that she's lip syncing to and then you cut to to
Them making it and there's and there's no
There's no disconnect. There's no disconnect. It's the same. It's scary
Did this hold even even credit girl wig. I can deal with her in this
I
Keep liking it to Helen Marin in the queen from what I mean, it's it's mind blowing
I just when I see her in that in the in the television spots. I'm like good god. Yeah, it's it's kind of it takes about
10 seconds to lock in
Because when she first opens the door at the very beginning when Billy Kudrup's character gets to the door or crewed up
Yeah, she opens the door it takes just a couple of seconds where you go. Okay, and then once it locks in it never let's go
I'm just I'm saying number. Let's just move on number six Don
This might be on Chad's list in your list too. Maybe a little higher
Kubo in the two strings haven't seen it yet Kubo. I have at
24 really yes speaking very highly of this earlier, but again
Let me give you beautiful where I'm at with Kubo. Yeah, let me give you. It's around it
Right below Kubo. I have seen street right above Kubo. I have jungle book loving peach drag in the hall
So you have to put that in context
Well, because you were telling me this was probably going to be in your top 10 this
Normally would have been but we've seen so many the story was so many great films this year
The animation was incredible, but how they mixed it with the storyline which kept you go a beautiful movie
And we saw it in the Dolby cinema, which is it's the first stop motion animation film made for Dolby cinema
It is this is one of those films that you have to own this is if I have to make a list of films from 2016
That are must owns no matter who you are no matter where you'd come from no matter who your mom is
Kubo in the two strings is on that list
Dave, I think your kids would absolutely dig it. Oh, yes, Andrew you were there weren't you? Yeah, I don't know how to spell that
K-U-B-O
Kubo
Z-A-T or D-O-S
It's
It's the same people that did the box trolls and did core line so it's that that kind of stop motion animation
It looks it looks a lot like core line
Beautiful way behind my kids movies. Oh, you'll you look up those other films. You'll know what I'm talking. It's Jurassic Park again. Oh, okay fair enough
He has to see the rescuers that's what it is
All right, my numbers a chat junior number six. No, I have to do number six the diggy diggy doctor
Dr. Strange
Dr. Strange I have a 19 I enjoyed the heck out of that I enjoyed dr. Strange
I
Didn't love dr. Strange. I didn't really have that close of an association with dr. Strange growing up
I knew of him and I would read about him when he would cross over in comics that I was reading
I would never buy our own a dr. Strange comic. I'm glad they didn't completely dumb it down
But there was a certain level of dumbing down because this con this character is so complex
Yeah, there's a lot of depth to that character that I think would have been completely lost
I'm x3d with prestige was a man. Yeah, that was freaking wild
My number six is a film. I don't think either one of you have seen
I saw it at the greatness of the Dallas International Film Festival this past year. It is called life animated
Yeah, I miss that one. I wanted to see this too. This is a documentary about a young man who has a certain level of autism
And when he was little when he was about three, he just stopped talking and they didn't know why
And so they worked with him for years and years and years
And what they found out when he was about nine or ten. This is how long it took
He loved Disney so much
That you know with with with children with autism. There's a certain thing that they have
His thing was his dad could pick any line from any Disney movie ever up to that point and he knew the following line
That's wow, and so that was his thing
So they use Disney films to bring him back out of his shell
And how he adjusts to life because it because now he's in his mid 20s
So they go through how he adjusted and when he graduated high school and how he deals with
Getting a job and having a girlfriend and living on his own
It's a beautiful film. It's abs. It's heartbreaking and rejoicing at the same time
It's it's called life animated and it's absolutely wonderful
And I love this film. I saw the Delta National. I remember reading about in the media guy saying I'd love to see this
But I never got the opportunity. Don number five
You remember what my number one was last year
Thunderbrook they have done it. Okay. Yes. Yes. Yes. This is what I love about doing like the dip and video fast and everything is
Films that will make my top 10 and this one was from the Asian film festival. Okay
And I you never thought this would ever happen because you know my love for subtitle movies
But as a critic I really didn't be into them. You're not a big fan of the subtitle
But I am getting it now, but this one was from the Asian Film Festival mountain cry. Yes. I remember how much you loved this film
Yes, yes, very wonderful love story very emotional the only thing I did like was how they really ended the last two minutes
But beyond that a real heart breaking gritty love story
And it shows how a society in China really
And the tribes and the unwritten rules and stuff really affect people lives in everything else. Yeah, number five
Sing
Sing I have and this is gonna surprise you because this is gonna be going down a little bit
But again, we saw so many great films this year sing. I have it 29
Between Southside with you and office Christmas party
Right below Elvis and Nixon and Kung Fu Panda 3
Sing is another film that if you're a father and you want to earn cool points with your daughters
I told you this earlier today Dave
I'll tell you to do this one too great. This you will enjoy this every bit as much as your kids do
I can almost bet money on that
I think you will get the biggest kick out of this film it it
It's got a great soundtrack because the soundtrack is pretty integral to the plot line
Um over 80 films from the 40s until today for 80 films
80 songs 80 songs
And it's getting late and it's it's very well done. It's it's
well-voiced acted
Beautiful to watch it
It's it may or may not be necessary to see in 3d. It's it's more of a
Personal preference. I don't think you need to but just go take the girls to see this. I think they will
Definitely put you on a pedestal after I'll just get this sir my normal methods
Okay, allegedly
Number five for me. It's also a family film
The second year in a row that a family film January release has knocked me out
Lot of two years ago being patting tin
This past year that your January release number five on my top 10 of the year is utopia
That is my number four. So let's talk about it this movie. Yeah, you talk about a movie that really I think surprised everybody
I forgot that was this year too. It would be a amount of heart in this film a great story
Took some really nice twists and turns for a kid's film
um animation
Yeah, the DMV. Yep, the DMV
To me it was the underlying
Message that the movie carries that was so impactful and I can't believe I forgot I thought that was last year
We saw this and now we saw this in i max 3d as well. Yeah, the real i max 3d
Yes, I mean it's got to be it. Oh, yeah, it's got to be I love this movie so so much so so much
So you know, it's always Deadpool now that I think about it pulls an honorable mention
That is my number four. All right, so that is your number four Chad your number four
Peach dragon I have peach dragon at 21
Peach dragon devastated me great film
Well, it that was this was one of those films that we went into and I was just like you were fighting it to today
Matter than a wet hand in this film you were prepared to hate it and I
Adored this film. I
I feel like from before I thought you guys were gonna like put this in your worst of
Yes, actually best of yeah, I mean going into it. I was I was prepared to hate this movie
And it's such a different take on it. They didn't try to just duplicate what they did and they did they didn't need to they shouldn't have
I'm glad they didn't they made some very bold choices, but they paid off
And it worked. Yeah, I really did. I can't I have no complaints about this film
This is the film that I think the bfg should have been agreed. I'll go with you on that. It was it
So fairly impactful. I wasn't expected to be
Completely blown out of the back of my chair and sobbing like a child number four
That man be superman don of justice
Yes, see I thought a little comfortable here. I thought the same thing
I thought I thought it was better than civil war. I agree. I agree
in a major this movie
Worked for me on so many and I remember when it came out all the hate
That was out there and
I want to say you and I went for my first viewing of this. It wasn't it?
Yes, yes, we did and I wrote we got out of there because I saw it twice in the theater. Oh, no, no
We saw the second time. Okay, so that's right the first time and I remember seeing this and going
I don't know where all this hate is coming from this movie is wonderful. It was amazing
It's so well told
somebody finally got it right
And you know, we'll talk geek for a minute
Oh, you say it what it are you talking story like people were complaining about man of steel
And I was like what you have to understand is with Nolan's trilogy
He kind of changed the game for DC
Because what Nolan made the choice of is I'm going to make three Batman films and I'm going to do
Root this as much in reality as I possibly can
Well, that set the stage for everything that came after it so when you have a film like man of steel
You have to look at it from the aspect of who Clark was
Here is this kid who gets launched into a whole different world
And he has these powers, but he doesn't know how to deal with them with you know with his father telling him
Look, you have to hide this you can't
People are going to look at you differently the people are gonna come get you and they're gonna want to experiments on you
And so yeah, he's gonna be a no man for a few years because he doesn't know how to deal with these powers
And he has that no one else has and I really loved the way Snyder told that story as did I
Which then fold yes
When and then you fold that into bvs which
Continues that story but take then takes another story and intersects it with that story
In a way that neither you or I ever even thought of a Bruce Wayne who's aging
And is basically Danny Glover and lethal weapon at this point especially from Alfred's point of view very so
He was basically the Frank Miller version of that man was the dark night returns and
Even the suit was the dark night return suit very heavily influenced
And it just we I finished that film and I was like
I'm good with this this makes me happy we're getting ready for justice league
And we tease the rest of the justice league in a way that you didn't have to put them in the film
And then you crowd the film you introduce wonder woman in a way that setting up that film which I could not be more excited for come June
And I was satisfied the only thing that I couldn't really put it in the top 10 for was
Eisenberg as Luther just took me out of it, but see that didn't bother me either because
That's the one down type of trail of him as
Luther
Was he wasn't going to be your father's Lex Luthor? He's going to be a new generation of Luthor with a different kind of madness
I mean for all intensive purposes
We always talk about how Superman is to Luthor that Batman is to the Joker and at the heart of the matter
The Joker is a terrorist some men just want to watch the world burn if that's their lines
Look at Lex that's who this version of Lex is he just wants to create chaos. That's it. He doesn't care
And by that chaos that chaos involves removing the one person that can stop him from creating the chaos he wants and that's Superman
It's the new gods and because we're gonna talk about that here in a minute too. Okay. Don number three. We're into the bronze medal
Okay, this is a little dirt about
Behind the scenes on the show. All right for the listeners out there. Yeah, we have dirt. Wow
You know my language ability is well-noted and how wonderful or like there are yes in my English skills, but I have a book to prove it
But keep that in mind. I do my written reviews. Do you do it?
He edits them. I do in Princeton
And there's been sometimes where I'm kind of like, you know, we get into this maybe he did to me
But when I did this review and then I saw what Rob after he edited it. I'm like
There's nothing left
But I can understand, but I thought you took out a little too much. Okay, and you and I know you're I know you're going
And we talked about this. Yes, man down
This is your bronze medal for the year. Yes. Wow
Because you did not see the end coming right? It's a shocker, but in any bet
But see that's why that's why I didn't want you to I that's why I took that out because you don't see what you're trying to talk about
And I'm trying to keep you from talking about you don't see that
It's so hard to talk about what that's spoiled. Yeah, right exactly man down. I have it 35
But regardless, I'm just gonna say this one mind spoil the treat. Do what if you're bet
Especially if you serve see this film
See this film. Yes, I need to see it then and it's a film
Where you look and you go wait a minute. This has the shadow move in it
He's really really good
Yeah, like this is a film and Andrew you were with yeah, cuz you saw that when I saw the one she that was enough to put me off
Yeah, I'm telling you
He's really really good in this
And he does not have a transforming in the bind
Like I hate to say that's wrong. I was shocked
Yeah, this movie is really really good. He's not Tarzan swinging with monkeys while he's sword fighting with this
Kate Blanchett. I mean, it's one of those films that you can use as a discussion piece. It's a film that
Again, you can't really explain anything about the film without ruining it
It's just a guy who's searching for his son
And that's all I can say about it
I mean, it's
This is another one that's just hard wrench. Oh, hello
Chad bronze metal
The aforementioned hacks are rich. Oh so good
I took my father to a press screening for the first time. Well, what a press only screening, but this was the first time
Yeah, yeah, and
He's a Vietnam veteran
And he kind of thrives on films like this at the end of that thing at the end of this film
We turn to each other with tears streaming down our face and hugged each other
It was a father-son bonding moment that he still brings up this this movie is
The fact that Fox film this on their lot and did not distribute it is amazing. Mm-hmm
That's
How how anybody took a look at this film and didn't say I am distributing this and it took was it like four different production companies
I get this thing out
It's beyond me because this thing's gonna win some awards
And then all of these other big studios are gonna be like wow, why did we pass on this?
Well, this movie is that good they did the same thing with a passion
So Mel Gibson kind of seems to know what he's doing when it comes to stuff like this
My bronze metal and you're gonna have to roll with me on this
Some people will call shenanigans on this
But I'm doing this for a reason my third favorite film of the year
Is batman versus superman don of justice ultimate edition
Because you have to do these as two separate entities
That's true and this and this is why people hate it because you understand why they are separate movies and they don't
They have they have no idea what why Bruce Wayne and Clark Andrew Madden
Well the thing is
Ultimate edition it adds 30 minutes to the film. So it's a three-hour film
I don't know how they did this should have been the theatrical cut and I will take this to the grave
I don't know how you can make a movie 30 minutes longer and make the pacing faster
I don't know how that works because Phil came over to the house
We were going to go to the to we were going to see suicide squad, but I wanted to see bbs first
So he came over to the house and I put in ultimate edition
And we're watching and we're having a good time and I looked at my go-do
We're an hour 15 in
He goes no, we're not going to do look at the clock
He goes oh my god
Like the pacing on this it's so much better. It makes a great film
Even better. I may even rearranged certain scenes. So if it makes more sense. That's why the pacing seem
tighter and I was just like this is brilliant
I don't know how that why was this not the theatrical cut and I think it's because
Before Deadpool because this would it would have I don't know why it would have been rated R
But if it would have been rated R they were they were leery of a rated R superhero film
And because it released six weeks after Deadpool they couldn't have gotten it done in time
But I'm thankful that they did the ultimate edition when they released it for home use because
It connects the film better. It makes it a better film. It makes it a better paste film
So I have to I had to give these two separate entities to separate entries because it literally is almost too completely different films
Okay, I'm concerned. I didn't see the ultimate edition and the HBO is playing that ever superman
But it's not the ultimate edition. I guarantee you that it's the theatrical cuts, which is still great
Yeah, I know the theatrical cut is still great
But the ultimate edition
Even if you go to a used DVD place and pick it up
Whatever you're going to pay for it, it's worth it
I got a really cool
Linticular book version of it from from Target one day
A little bit and it explains more about those there's actually a couple of scenes with the new gods
Which is who Lex is talking about at the end
When he says he's coming he's talking about the new gods who are going to be apparently the villains
For Justice League, which I was hoping it was dark side, but I can fight through it
All right silver medal Don
This one came so close to be in my number one. All right, superman
No, that's my that's my number nine of the worst of the year because two hours of bored
No, this film. I don't think either of you saw okay, but I wish you guys did okay
um
And it seems so close man. I'm on Manchester by the scene
I you did speak very very highly of this film
Affleck does incredible that would be the Casey Affleck. Yes, who hosted SNL before they took the break and it's a film
Where you got this guy who is just seems like he hates life
And doesn't want to go back to his hometown, but as the movie you think he's a jerk
But as the movie goes on and you understand what happened and why it happened and everything else
You understand any feel for the guy you do a 180 turn and you realize why his life is so bad as it is
Well, the movie brothers check this out the other night. I'm going to hear their review on this well
And that's all right, but the the Affleck deserves the nod the the nominations that the acting for this
Are incredible and well deserved. It's it's one that you talk about like the monster calls leaving you got wrenched
This one will too, which I'd adopt Chad hidden figures
Hidden figures I had an 11 and
Especially now considering what has happened since we screened it and then we lost John Glenn
Oh, yeah right after the screen. It's it's even more poignant
One of those films that it's one of those the the untold hidden story
I mean it really is that the the the title is area apropos
Just amazing to see what these women did together and I mean
Granted Taraji was the focal point, but I'm still completely blown out by General Mona. General Mona was amazing in this
Yeah, every everybody involved in this thing was amazing. It's a great story. It's well told
Well, you expected that from a lot of them. It's honest. Yeah, it's like I said in my review
Octavia Spencer's going to get overlooked because she's so good all the time to look easy
That she's going to get outshadowed by the other two. Yeah, and but because that's just she's always consistently that good
My silver medal for the year
Three superhero movies in a row
Deadpool
I feel so stupid for not having I am so happy that this movie was as good as it was
Because number one the journey it took to get this film made number two the commitment that Ryan Reynolds gave to it
Number three the fact that he's still so committed that the director had to leave because he wanted to do it on a grander scale
He's like no, we need to dance with the ones that run us you're talking about for the for the impending follow-up
Yes, and the fact that he
Took a swing at this character and X-Men origins Wolverine and it didn't quite
Equal out to what he was hoping for he said give me never shot and he and he does that right in the opening
Yeah, probably wondering how got this movie. I won't say his name, but it rhymes is schmolvereen
He captures the essence of this character
Everybody's great in this the guy that plays colossus is great
Uh Gina Carano. How you doing?
um
She's that one girl
Honestly, it it may capture the essence of a comic book character better than
Almost any comic book character based film. I'm not gonna debate that
It is the truest representation
Of from page to screen. I don't know how it can get any closer. Are really starring some Canadian douche come on
The opening credits seem alone. Well, yeah, you're already done and then hadn't even started
I do nothing about Deadpool before the movie started either
And I love it and it was fantastic
I walked out going I need a Deadpool costume. Yes, and it's and a collection of the comics because I'm telling you the books are as good as that film
I mean the opening credits. That's what I'm telling you man T.J. Miller great in this marina backer. How you doing? Oh god
You know, I want a vaultron ring too. Yes
Mikey found his vaultron by the way. Oh, did he still has it from great nice
All right gentlemen. It's the moment you've all been waiting for
Don your favorite film of 2016 if chance. Oh, this is probably be his one or two all right
I know it's your probably number one. Okay, let's talk about it. Gleason. It is my number one. Gleason
We're done it out this movie. I mean it's coast Manchester so close
Let's just talk at your this is a documentary
If you remember the first game that was played in the super dome after Katrina in 2007
No 2006
The opening drive by Atlanta
Punt is is blocked by this guy Steve Gleason. I believe his name return for a touchdown
He ends up retiring in 2010
finding out that he has
blue garrots a l l s
And so that a week after he gets
Diagnosed they find out that he and his wife are pregnant with their first child and
This movie works in three different directions direction one is him recording the videos for his son to teach him things as he grows up
Road number two
Number two is Gleason himself and the journey that he takes as he deteriorates you actually see the video where he says
This is the last video. I'm going to be able to speak in with the slurred voice correct
The third direction is the journey of his wife who stands by her man through this entire ordeal
But the emotion that emotional hell that she goes through just to try to keep the wheels on everything
This movie will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will make you think
This movie is
Free thing. It is now available on Amazon Prime
This film
It's so rough to watch that I don't think I could watch it again
It pulls no punches. I literally saw the trailer like a few weeks ago because uh one of my other favorite radio shows
We were talking about it
And if you can make it through the trailer without choking up
Yeah, check your book watch watch why I'll watch because this thing
The beauty of it is this guy has a sense of humor's wife has a sense of humor and there's
And there's points where you're about ready to cry or you're crying if then you see something need to get that good laugh back in
You know, it'll make you laugh and cry in every emotion that you will go through
There's some scenes that I'm so uncomfortable with faith healer. I still remember that. Yeah without making me mad. Yeah, yeah
But the beauty about this film
This is one of the few films that really truly shows the living hell of what ALS is no matter your political view no matter nothing
You may think this about it watch this film and you will have a different feeling about it with this horrible
When it finishes there's also punches when it finishes the first thing you're going to want to do is find everybody you love and hug them
Like I'm getting stopped up thinking about this film
That's how powerful it is and again, it is available currently
I know it's on amazon video. I don't know if it's on hulu or netflix
Whatever it costs you to rent this from wherever or get the dvd or whatever
Do it whatever you're gonna pay for it. It's worth twice as much as you're going to pay
It's
Every emotion it is it's everything and everything
It's
You will be mentally exhausted in a really good way by the end of this and
There's nothing in 2016 that's going to beat this film. I don't care what it says. Chad
I know that you didn't get to see this and you just were came close, but no this yeah
I know you didn't see this film. So you're gonna have a different number one than we did
This is not gonna come as a shock to anybody. Okay
When we saw a couple weeks ago rogue one you got it number 12 on my list great
Enjoyed it very much. I get goose bumps every time someone mentions this online
No film shocked me more this year
as far as
The bang to hype ratio. It's been a long time since since the film turned me into a seven-year-old
Where were you and I were just elbowing each other yeah
Yeah, yeah, I was I was back in great school again first film since Jedi. I've seen multiple times in a theater
So that shouldn't tell you something that's saying a lot if if you got into a screening and you went back and paid
And I paid iMac 3d. Thank you. Yeah, that's that's a testament to how much you enjoyed a film
So it seems a little bit anticlimactic after after you guys talked up
But again, you didn't see glee so it's it's different
Yeah, I mean, I mean, I liked it. I mean it wasn't a lot better than the one last year
But I really was surprised because it was two different movies. It was two different movies and I love how it built to
The Star Wars saga in the end. I like how Kevin and Mark Bernardin said they should just call it episode zero
And just put it in put it in the saga time
If you've seen the film listen to their review because he says a line in that review that is
Absolutely brilliant, but it is a spoiler. So I'm not gonna say it on this show. I'll talk about it off air
Okay, but
David and I were actually talking about it at lunch today and it's it's the perfect line for this film
Anything else that you gentlemen would want to add to favorite films that you saw this pressure that we haven't discussed
No, it's it's
We're pushing two and a half hours at this point
All right
Well, we appreciate you guys being here and offering your insights into our lists
