You may know him as fondongo but his mama named him Don Ford, I'm gonna call him Don Ford Welcome, sir. Happy New Year, everybody.

All right, Chad, you're up. Well, Chad's opening up some quick television headlines for you. Disney Channel has canceled Girl Meets World after season three.

Didn't realize that was bit free seasons, but, you know, whatever. Will and Grace is going to get a 10 episode revival later this year. Is it, I keep hearing it's happening.

Okay, because I heard the Deborah missing was saying, don't believe everything you read. Don't believe everything you read. I've heard it.

The story I read was from a fairly reputable source. Dude, Chad, what do you got? It is a pretty sweet-looking Spider-Man wristwatch.

Oh, very nice. I haven't needing a wristwatch for a long time. Thank you, Andrew.

There's fans of the man on the high castle. The Amazon series. I know Charlotte was a huge fan up.

That got renewed for season three. I have not caught that yet. I've heard it's really, really good.

The trailers that I've seen have heard are fantastic. It's pretty chilling looking. And so if you watched Rebels last night, Saul Guerrera is now part of Rebels in that two, two-parter, which I've found very boring.

I haven't watched it. But we are also in the second half of this season going to get Obi-Wan. Yes, I saw the trailer.

So I'm very excited about that. They showed the trailer this week. For fans of Archer, be aware, get your adjust your DVRs accordingly.

Season 8 of Archer was going to be moving to FXX instead of FXX. Why are you giving me the coupons? Oh, he's watching to read the coupons, sir.

I guess I should probably open my mouth. We're talking here. By the way, my guess is Pittsburgh style.

Oh, yes. Look at that. And Don will be very happy because of a new series returning on Netflix with this original voice cast.

So Don now has a show to watch because the magic school bus is returning. Magic school bus. You never watched the magic school bus?

You're a kid. I can't remember that one. It was about a school bus.

That was a little bit common. What? I believe so.

Andrew got me. It looks like it is a watch, but I'm having difficulty opening it up because the flap is not working. Ooh, it is a pretty much what she said.

It's classy. I'm going to put that right there on the desk. I'm not even going to start the battery yet because I want to wait until it's actually on my wrist.

The team, the writing team behind the show Jane the Virgin is going to be rebooting charmed. So I know you're ready for that. Oh, you know what?

It'll be great for what I'm running on the treadmill in the morning watching charmed. You know what? Hey, I'm not going to judge you outwardly.

Do any of those girls wear bras because I don't think they do. Why are you complaining? That's a fair point.

One of them needs to be on lithium. DVD, DVD, DVD, Blu-ray stuff that you're going to get this week. Homeland season five.

Boy, they've been plugged in the crap out of the new season of that show. I haven't seen that commercial about 14 times today. I'm sick of Claire Danes' face being all up in the camera now.

A season two of Mr. Robot. Has anybody watched that show?

I know a couple of people that have this and it's amazing. It looks interesting. I just didn't get the concept.

It was a show very hard to start watching. The complete series for Star Trek Enterprise this week. Scott Bakawa did a guess shot on it's always sunny in Philadelphia this week.

Probably one of the most wheels off episodes that show has ever done. If you've been watching the story of God with Morgan Freeman. Season one of that starts on DVD and Blu-ray this week.

Season three of Broad City and season seven of Swamp People. Yeah. Moving on.

I will say real quick. The one that got me this year so far was the A&E that Leah Remini about the Scientology. My wife has been watching that and very much enjoying this.

That was a huge topic of conversation last night. It's still going. Yeah.

The season finale was last night. Oh, was it? Okay.

So she just must be behind. By the way, caught up by all my shows on the DVR. Congratulations.

I did watch today. They debuted that bright lights documentary about Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher on HBO last night. Was it?

I'm not sure but the day it's very good. It gets a little haunting at the end of it and not on purpose. But it's very, very good.

I very much enjoyed that. Fourshadowing gets along. Actually I'll talk a little bit more later because we're going to use that to set weight into something else.

I'm not even gonna try to forget a Dell mayor may not be married There's rumors that she secretly married her boyfriend in the ceremony this past week I finally got to watch her BBC special while I was on vacation and it was wonderful Did you know I'm a huge fan of the Adele? Yes, especially given the picture I put on Facebook this week the Adele taco Muzzle top just in case yes, the documentary talk more about like her relationship with the first the boy from the one she wrote the song about this But what this was it was an hour and a half long and It was kind of like the Graham Norton show that's over in the in in England because it's on the BBC So he would interview her for a bit and then she'd do a song so they would go back and forth She talked a little bit about it, but she talked more about what's going on with her now and the tour she's getting ready to do They did a couple of funny bits where people on the way in were taking picture with her Oscar and Graham Norton and Adele were behind the wall So as soon as the guy got ready to take picture they'd come out from behind the wall with like funny hats and stuff And like they had one of those little blank thought balloons and like what I said I hated Dell and she hung it over the guy's head and They did another bit where they were like he was casting a new Adele musical and so all these Adele Quoting quote impersonators came out and she was one of them, but they had made her up a little bit So she didn't exactly look like herself Wait was it was that the one where was a bunch of No, there's only one dude. There's only one dude Okay, there were five late four late four five total one dude and four ladies and like she's backstage And she's like oh my god.

I'm gonna be sick. I'm so nervous They're like no, you're gonna be fine And then she came out she started singing and the one of them was like We didn't that that's her and they're like no, I can't be harsh like no, that's her I saw that bet for sure. This past Friday on Netflix The one day at a time reboot dropped with Rita Marano. Yeah, she was on jeopardy on Friday And I did see a little clip of the new to tell the truth Good or bad I understand match game. I'm in.

I don't know that we need a reboot of the television I've watched the match game bald ones really good at that. Yeah, so I know about his new anime film coming What do you see in this trailer put the boss baby? Oh god, it looks it looks as bad as that Nine Life's cat movie they came out last year some Music festival updates for you Coachella will be headline this year by the Beyonce The Kendrick Lamar and the radio head So you got that going for you And there's a new one called bottle rock now.

She was having some health problems apparently this past year So I thought she was having some mental issues as well. I that I don't know But that might have been the health problems, but something that I was I was talking to fill about this Yesterday of You realize this is the 30th anniversary of the Joshua tree sir You two is playing with the idea of doing 30th anniversary shows for the Joshua tree If they do the deal or they do the album all the way through like Judas please now book it now.

We're going to be having a fundraiser if you are It's someone who rides a motorcycle.

There will be a poker run involved. There's going to be live music I'll be emceeing the event. I found out today.

I've been asked to emcee We're going to be raising a ton of money for him I'll be posting it on Facebook. I'll be I'll be putting it on our website I'll be putting it on our Facebook page all of our social media It's going to start at noon. It's going to go till seven in the evening So it's not going to take up your whole night on a Saturday I've heard really good things about this venue So we we really need everybody to come out and support Dalton and help us raise money to get him this new bed My brother Ken his motorcycle group the southern dogs.

They're sponsoring it nice So we're very excited that those guys are going to be involved. So let's do the stage productions. All right, so stage productions Basically the way I do this is I keep a running tally all year long I don't wait till the end of the year because god knows I'm gonna forget stuff So I keep a running tally this year. I have seen 19 stage productions Between our friends at the AT&T performing arts center and our friends at Dallas summer musicals who were big fans of both of those organizations and the Wiley and the Wiley's part of the AT&T performing arts center sir Well, they're Dallas theater center.

They're not that it was all together. Well, but either way either way we're good So I'm actually gonna give my bottom five and then my top five Brian talks about the local police and fire unions Actually the southern dogs are a police and fire union motor cycle club. Oh good good the other day Uh, we're gonna.

I'm gonna actually do it from my fifth least favorite to my least favorite because if we're gonna go five That's one. Yeah, I'm also gonna go 15 to 19. Well, I can only come up with three that I could give the word because you may I because I don't know that you saw everything I did.

I know you guys saw two productions that I didn't yeah so Chad will start with you your third least favorite production of the year Bridges of Madison County Interesting. All right, this we saw this in January. I believe of last year.

This is a musical based on the film That's based on the book right takes place in Iowa uh If you heard our deal On this you know what we thought if not just go back and dig through and you can find it anything you want to say specifically About this particular production For me it lost me mainly for the same reason that Matilda lost me from the previous year because People were forcing accents the the the primary you know the lead was forcing her accent so So hard that When she sang it was even worse than when she spoke the Broadway version featured Steven Pascal who you might remember from rescue me He also played um The cop that got so much trouble during the OJ trial and Pete people versus OJ Simpson. Oh, uh, Furman Yeah, he played Furman in that done. Do you have three or five?

I have five. All right. Let's go to your Fifth to yeah, five Uh, I did bolts over Broadway Really?

I did not see that when you guys saw that one without me. I believed in you. Yeah I thought I saw that one again.

Okay, my fifth least favorite production of the year Goes to wicked you are kidding me kidding you this is real You know how I'm not a big fan of the Wizard of Oz true This thing did not pick up for me till right before the break This thing to me trudged along through most of the first act and once it picked up it was fine But other than that Do have many thoughts so far from from from the Estabicated Waldorf of this particular episode No, okay Now all right Chad your your silver award for worst of the year I don't think anyone's gonna argue with me on this one. Okay ragtime Maybe that was the other one you guys saw that I did I don't that was my number three Well, we're at it actually maybe you guys saw three without yeah, I think we did Marred with technical issues uh the Mist cues Wardrobe malfunction yeah, cuz all three of those kind of got clumped together while I was on vacation.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did It was just a mess. It was just a jumbled mess that the the thing just headed straight into a ditch And they were just never able to pull it out all right Don and I feel the same and plus the plot they tried doing too Mm-hmm it dragged it really dragged it was just uninteresting. Fourth worst of the year is the Broadway Christmas Wonderland. We just saw last month that will come to me here in a moment As will uh For me actually I have that one ranked one behind where he has his uh for me it was Rudolph um I didn't see that route off was it was good. It wasn't great.

It was fun Yeah, you don't let you're done with you look at the pantheon Uh, no don was with me this year. No, I wasn't That was good big Friday you were out of town Me and Ninja saw the one like the year before Um, it was fun But when you look at the pantheon of of productions. We've seen this year Any other year this might be ranked a little bit higher So this is not really an indictment of that you're so strong.

Yeah, it's just where it wound up Chad and we're gonna hold off on yours because you've only got three Don let's go to your third least favorite production of the year. Oh, it was right time and which I said which is okay 42nd Street For me at 17 of 19 I have Broadway Christmas Wonderland this thing it was again. It was fun, but it wasn't great Uh, if you're gonna rip off sister act to go the whole nine.

That's all I'm saying Uh, you're silver medal for worst of the year Don. Well, that was 42nd Street, that was my okay Okay, okay, so yeah, yeah, yeah, cuz yeah, cuz yeah, my bronze turkey went to break time and then 42nd Street gets my silver My silver turkey went to Chad's bronze turkey for bridges of Madison County the musical Oh Technically great. It's just it it really really falls short in the performance I just think it lends itself well to a music your official golden turkey of stage production in 2016 Chad The Broadway Christmas It was trying to be a jack of all trades and wound up being a master of none It it it was trying to appeal to all audiences, but it would mainly bore the full out of one while it was trying to appeal to the other Brian said he really enjoyed wicked. I just couldn't get into it Uh, Don you're golden turkey If that I knew it.

The little mermaid I had little mermaid at eight I Thought it works so still top ten. It's still just hot. Really Chad your number 10 Civil war This is my number nine Man This was the year of the superhero film good lord you couldn't you couldn't walk through a month without finding something wearing a cape And there were plenty of capes in this film Setting up a lot of what's to come also setting up something some of the events that are going to affect the animated series as well I saw commercial for that today for the next version of the Avengers Ultron revolution very well-constructed film by the rooster brothers. They just continue to seem to have their finger on the pulse of of Marvel and their cinematic universe It was so well done Took what you got from the winter soldier and made it even somehow made it better You want to laugh? I actually just finally made it through like last week, right?

Yeah, what you think bro Oh, I absolutely loved it. I was mind blowing My number 10 is a movie that released wide this week, but it did get a 2016 release And I think I may be the only person in the studio that are don actually it's and I both saw it a monster calls Oh god, I want to see this movie so bad. I am not ashamed to say it's in my top 20 I cried three times in this film Full on I should have grabbed some tissues on the way into the theater tears rolling down my face People there were when don and I saw it there were maybe eight people because it was a press only screening There was a lady on the other side of my road that was Audibly sobbing Wow, it's it's a gorgeous film.

It's beautifully shot this smooth smcd google kid There's a reason he got the the the nod for the golden globe. It's that good. It looks remarkable.

It looks actually remarkable good If you are a parent if you know somebody who is This film is Amazing and if it does not affect you on a molecular level Check your pulse. What didn't rank this movie higher for me Was I couldn't get Dwayne locked into the role for a few minutes. It didn't take me long it didn't take me long either And I thought it would take me I thought it would take me out of it as well And what kept it he sold it what kept it from going even any farther south was one line If you sing I'm throwing you off this wrap Because that's what drove me nuts about frozen Too much singing chat number nine trolls For me number 17 love this movie and I told you this earlier today Dave Love this movie. Don number eight My number eight is one. I don't know if you guys saw or not, but we addressed it earlier with the Give away with the ally and the graded marketing Catchy it's catching on I wrote that I wrote that jingle. Yes, he did.

I'm proud for you deep water horizon I did not get to see it. Yeah, I'm looking forward to checking it out As it does release on DVD and Blu-ray this week. I know it's you know mark you mark from Paris, Texas, but no He's got a transform in his body.

I got an oil rig. It's out in the barn. It's in a Gulf of Mexico.

No, this one. What? No I liked how it showed the grit of what probably happened on that thing it pulled no punches of like how Bad this thing was when exploding how people got injured and all that other stuff It was like real life if someone was really there.

I mean it showed that okay In the CGI was incredible. You felt like your watch didn't you Hudson play his wife's little girlfriend or whatever Yeah, I gotta give heads up to that one. I thought he was so real life and everything.

Yeah, I surprised at jet number eight Finding Dory finding Dory. Oh, where did I have that goodness mercy? That's like my top 25 I go ahead.

Don't let me stop you stop and see that either. Oh, man I never thought that Ed O'Neil could personify a character finding Dory at 49 wow, but again There's so many great films this year. I never thought that Ed O'Neil could personify a character as well as he did Al Bundy Somehow he's managed to do that with a septipus with Olson from it's always sunny in Philadelphia.

He plays a good role in this too. Oh, oh, that's right. She's destiny, isn't she?

That's kind of surprising, but Again, it wasn't nearly as good as as finding Nemo, but it was better than it needed, but it was a lot better than it needed and it was it was different Because because they're kind of hitting miss on their sequel prequel track record This was more on the plus side than the negative side. It was really really fun. Really enjoying my number eights Hacksaw Ridge.

It's a Mel Gibson film. I won't support it Go ahead and remove that policy Yeah, because this does not have this does not feel like anything Mel Gibson has done It's I said it before and I'll say it again I will take this is the best war story. I have seen since band of brothers and I will put this above private Ryan Wow, yeah, I'm not this is not a bit this is real because for me private Ryan relied too much on the first 20 minutes Yeah, where has Hacksaw Ridge is amazing from the opening credits to the closing credits three different.

It's that Good like Cali full metal jacket was three different movies and I thought also the realistic brutality of that last third of the movie It pulled no punches. This was war and Garfield crushes it Vince Vaughn's the only American in it. Yeah, you're thinking Vince Vaughn.

Yes, that Vince Vaughn He was amazing great Don number that's my sense. Okay, that's your number seven. Chad your number seven The aforementioned Moana okay Fair enough my number seven is one of Don's least favorite films of the year and because I think he's on drugs Jackie But that's how she talks She didn't work it didn't work That's how she talks she did not she did and she tried to fail Denied deny deny deny all you want sir, but you haven't you haven't seen this yet have you know I have okay But I know how Jackie this is going to be the tie break on this okay because it is Amazing how polar opposite Don and I are on this film and again when she's got more hardware than a home depot by June I will be proven right because it's It's almost eerie how good she is in this When you're using the actual audio from the White House tour that she's lip syncing to and then you cut to to Them making it and there's and there's no There's no disconnect.

There's no disconnect. It's the same. It's scary Did this hold even even credit girl wig.

I can deal with her in this I Keep liking it to Helen Marin in the queen from what I mean, it's it's mind blowing I just when I see her in that in the in the television spots. I'm like good god. Yeah, it's it's kind of it takes about 10 seconds to lock in Because when she first opens the door at the very beginning when Billy Kudrup's character gets to the door or crewed up Yeah, she opens the door it takes just a couple of seconds where you go.

Okay, and then once it locks in it never let's go I'm just I'm saying number. Let's just move on number six Don This might be on Chad's list in your list too. Maybe a little higher Kubo in the two strings haven't seen it yet Kubo.

I have jungle book loving peach drag in the hall So you have to put that in context Well, because you were telling me this was probably going to be in your top 10 this Normally would have been but we've seen so many the story was so many great films this year The animation was incredible, but how they mixed it with the storyline which kept you go a beautiful movie And we saw it in the Dolby cinema, which is it's the first stop motion animation film made for Dolby cinema It is this is one of those films that you have to own this is if I have to make a list of films from 2016 That are must owns no matter who you are no matter where you'd come from no matter who your mom is Kubo in the two strings is on that list Dave, I think your kids would absolutely dig it. Strange Dr. Strange I have a 19 I enjoyed the heck out of that I enjoyed dr. Strange I Didn't love dr.

Strange. I didn't really have that close of an association with dr. Strange growing up I knew of him and I would read about him when he would cross over in comics that I was reading I would never buy our own a dr.

Strange comic. I'm glad they didn't completely dumb it down But there was a certain level of dumbing down because this con this character is so complex Yeah, there's a lot of depth to that character that I think would have been completely lost I'm x3d with prestige was a man. Yeah, that was freaking wild My number six is a film.

I don't think either one of you have seen I saw it at the greatness of the Dallas International Film Festival this past year. It is called life animated Yeah, I miss that one. I wanted to see this too.

This is a documentary about a young man who has a certain level of autism And when he was little when he was about three, he just stopped talking and they didn't know why And so they worked with him for years and years and years And what they found out when he was about nine or ten. This is how long it took He loved Disney so much That you know with with with children with autism. There's a certain thing that they have His thing was his dad could pick any line from any Disney movie ever up to that point and he knew the following line That's wow, and so that was his thing So they use Disney films to bring him back out of his shell And how he adjusts to life because it because now he's in his mid 20s So they go through how he adjusted and when he graduated high school and how he deals with Getting a job and having a girlfriend and living on his own It's a beautiful film.

It's abs. It's heartbreaking and rejoicing at the same time It's it's called life animated and it's absolutely wonderful And I love this film. I saw the Delta National.

I remember reading about in the media guy saying I'd love to see this But I never got the opportunity. Don number five You remember what my number one was last year Thunderbrook they have done it. Okay.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

This is what I love about doing like the dip and video fast and everything is Films that will make my top 10 and this one was from the Asian film festival. Okay And I you never thought this would ever happen because you know my love for subtitle movies But as a critic I really didn't be into them. You're not a big fan of the subtitle But I am getting it now, but this one was from the Asian Film Festival mountain cry.

Yes. I remember how much you loved this film Yes, yes, very wonderful love story very emotional the only thing I did like was how they really ended the last two minutes But beyond that a real heart breaking gritty love story And it shows how a society in China really And the tribes and the unwritten rules and stuff really affect people lives in everything else. Yeah, number five Sing Sing I have and this is gonna surprise you because this is gonna be going down a little bit But again, we saw so many great films this year sing.

I have it 29 Between Southside with you and office Christmas party Right below Elvis and Nixon and Kung Fu Panda 3 Sing is another film that if you're a father and you want to earn cool points with your daughters I told you this earlier today Dave I'll tell you to do this one too great. This you will enjoy this every bit as much as your kids do I can almost bet money on that I think you will get the biggest kick out of this film it it It's got a great soundtrack because the soundtrack is pretty integral to the plot line Um over 80 films from the 40s until today for 80 films 80 songs 80 songs And it's getting late and it's it's very well done. It's it's well-voiced acted Beautiful to watch it It's it may or may not be necessary to see in 3d.

It's it's more of a Personal preference. I don't think you need to but just go take the girls to see this. I think they will Definitely put you on a pedestal after I'll just get this sir my normal methods Okay, allegedly Number five for me.

It's also a family film The second year in a row that a family film January release has knocked me out Lot of two years ago being patting tin This past year that your January release number five on my top 10 of the year is utopia That is my number four. So let's talk about it this movie. Yeah, you talk about a movie that really I think surprised everybody I forgot that was this year too.

It would be a amount of heart in this film a great story Took some really nice twists and turns for a kid's film um animation Yeah, the DMV. Yep, the DMV To me it was the underlying Message that the movie carries that was so impactful and I can't believe I forgot I thought that was last year We saw this and now we saw this in i max 3d as well. Yeah, the real i max 3d Yes, I mean it's got to be it.

Oh, yeah, it's got to be I love this movie so so much so so much So you know, it's always Deadpool now that I think about it pulls an honorable mention That is my number four. All right, so that is your number four Chad your number four Peach dragon I have peach dragon at 21 Peach dragon devastated me great film Well, it that was this was one of those films that we went into and I was just like you were fighting it to today Matter than a wet hand in this film you were prepared to hate it and I Adored this film. I I feel like from before I thought you guys were gonna like put this in your worst of Yes, actually best of yeah, I mean going into it.

I was I was prepared to hate this movie And it's such a different take on it. They didn't try to just duplicate what they did and they did they didn't need to they shouldn't have I'm glad they didn't they made some very bold choices, but they paid off And it worked. Yeah, I really did.

I can't I have no complaints about this film This is the film that I think the bfg should have been agreed. I'll go with you on that. It was it So fairly impactful.

I wasn't expected to be Completely blown out of the back of my chair and sobbing like a child number four That man be superman don of justice Yes, see I thought a little comfortable here. I thought the same thing I thought I thought it was better than civil war. I agree.

I agree in a major this movie Worked for me on so many and I remember when it came out all the hate That was out there and I want to say you and I went for my first viewing of this. It wasn't it? Yes, yes, we did and I wrote we got out of there because I saw it twice in the theater.

Oh, no, no We saw the second time. Okay, so that's right the first time and I remember seeing this and going I don't know where all this hate is coming from this movie is wonderful. It was amazing It's so well told somebody finally got it right And you know, we'll talk geek for a minute Oh, you say it what it are you talking story like people were complaining about man of steel And I was like what you have to understand is with Nolan's trilogy He kind of changed the game for DC Because what Nolan made the choice of is I'm going to make three Batman films and I'm going to do Root this as much in reality as I possibly can Well, that set the stage for everything that came after it so when you have a film like man of steel You have to look at it from the aspect of who Clark was Here is this kid who gets launched into a whole different world And he has these powers, but he doesn't know how to deal with them with you know with his father telling him Look, you have to hide this you can't People are going to look at you differently the people are gonna come get you and they're gonna want to experiments on you And so yeah, he's gonna be a no man for a few years because he doesn't know how to deal with these powers And he has that no one else has and I really loved the way Snyder told that story as did I Which then fold yes When and then you fold that into bvs which Continues that story but take then takes another story and intersects it with that story In a way that neither you or I ever even thought of a Bruce Wayne who's aging And is basically Danny Glover and lethal weapon at this point especially from Alfred's point of view very so He was basically the Frank Miller version of that man was the dark night returns and Even the suit was the dark night return suit very heavily influenced And it just we I finished that film and I was like I'm good with this this makes me happy we're getting ready for justice league And we tease the rest of the justice league in a way that you didn't have to put them in the film And then you crowd the film you introduce wonder woman in a way that setting up that film which I could not be more excited for come June And I was satisfied the only thing that I couldn't really put it in the top 10 for was Eisenberg as Luther just took me out of it, but see that didn't bother me either because That's the one down type of trail of him as Luther Was he wasn't going to be your father's Lex Luthor?

He's going to be a new generation of Luthor with a different kind of madness I mean for all intensive purposes We always talk about how Superman is to Luthor that Batman is to the Joker and at the heart of the matter The Joker is a terrorist some men just want to watch the world burn if that's their lines Look at Lex that's who this version of Lex is he just wants to create chaos. That's it. He doesn't care And by that chaos that chaos involves removing the one person that can stop him from creating the chaos he wants and that's Superman It's the new gods and because we're gonna talk about that here in a minute too.

This has the shadow move in it He's really really good Yeah, like this is a film and Andrew you were with yeah, cuz you saw that when I saw the one she that was enough to put me off Yeah, I'm telling you He's really really good in this And he does not have a transforming in the bind Like I hate to say that's wrong.

I was shocked Yeah, this movie is really really good. He's not Tarzan swinging with monkeys while he's sword fighting with this Kate Blanchett. I mean, it's one of those films that you can use as a discussion piece.

It's a film that Again, you can't really explain anything about the film without ruining it It's just a guy who's searching for his son And that's all I can say about it I mean, it's This is another one that's just hard wrench. Oh, hello Chad bronze metal The aforementioned hacks are rich. Oh so good I took my father to a press screening for the first time.

Well, what a press only screening, but this was the first time Yeah, yeah, and He's a Vietnam veteran And he kind of thrives on films like this at the end of that thing at the end of this film We turn to each other with tears streaming down our face and hugged each other It was a father-son bonding moment that he still brings up this this movie is The fact that Fox film this on their lot and did not distribute it is amazing. Mm-hmm That's How how anybody took a look at this film and didn't say I am distributing this and it took was it like four different production companies I get this thing out It's beyond me because this thing's gonna win some awards And then all of these other big studios are gonna be like wow, why did we pass on this? Well, this movie is that good they did the same thing with a passion So Mel Gibson kind of seems to know what he's doing when it comes to stuff like this My bronze metal and you're gonna have to roll with me on this Some people will call shenanigans on this But I'm doing this for a reason my third favorite film of the year Is batman versus superman don of justice ultimate edition Because you have to do these as two separate entities That's true and this and this is why people hate it because you understand why they are separate movies and they don't They have they have no idea what why Bruce Wayne and Clark Andrew Madden Well the thing is Ultimate edition it adds 30 minutes to the film.

So it's a three-hour film I don't know how they did this should have been the theatrical cut and I will take this to the grave I don't know how you can make a movie 30 minutes longer and make the pacing faster I don't know how that works because Phil came over to the house We were going to go to the to we were going to see suicide squad, but I wanted to see bbs first So he came over to the house and I put in ultimate edition And we're watching and we're having a good time and I looked at my go-do We're an hour 15 in He goes no, we're not going to do look at the clock He goes oh my god Like the pacing on this it's so much better. It makes a great film Even better. I may even rearranged certain scenes.

So if it makes more sense. That's why the pacing seem tighter and I was just like this is brilliant I don't know how that why was this not the theatrical cut and I think it's because Before Deadpool because this would it would have I don't know why it would have been rated R But if it would have been rated R they were they were leery of a rated R superhero film And because it released six weeks after Deadpool they couldn't have gotten it done in time But I'm thankful that they did the ultimate edition when they released it for home use because It connects the film better. It makes it a better film.

It makes it a better paste film So I have to I had to give these two separate entities to separate entries because it literally is almost too completely different films Okay, I'm concerned. I didn't see the ultimate edition and the HBO is playing that ever superman But it's not the ultimate edition. I guarantee you that it's the theatrical cuts, which is still great Yeah, I know the theatrical cut is still great But the ultimate edition Even if you go to a used DVD place and pick it up Whatever you're going to pay for it, it's worth it I got a really cool Linticular book version of it from from Target one day A little bit and it explains more about those there's actually a couple of scenes with the new gods Which is who Lex is talking about at the end When he says he's coming he's talking about the new gods who are going to be apparently the villains For Justice League, which I was hoping it was dark side, but I can fight through it All right silver medal Don This one came so close to be in my number one.

All right, superman No, that's my that's my number nine of the worst of the year because two hours of bored No, this film. I don't think either of you saw okay, but I wish you guys did okay um And it seems so close man. I'm on Manchester by the scene I you did speak very very highly of this film Affleck does incredible that would be the Casey Affleck.

Yes, who hosted SNL before they took the break and it's a film Where you got this guy who is just seems like he hates life And doesn't want to go back to his hometown, but as the movie you think he's a jerk But as the movie goes on and you understand what happened and why it happened and everything else You understand any feel for the guy you do a 180 turn and you realize why his life is so bad as it is Well, the movie brothers check this out the other night. I'm going to hear their review on this well And that's all right, but the the Affleck deserves the nod the the nominations that the acting for this Are incredible and well deserved. It's it's one that you talk about like the monster calls leaving you got wrenched This one will too, which I'd adopt Chad hidden figures Hidden figures I had an 11 and Especially now considering what has happened since we screened it and then we lost John Glenn Oh, yeah right after the screen.

It's it's even more poignant One of those films that it's one of those the the untold hidden story I mean it really is that the the the title is area apropos Just amazing to see what these women did together and I mean Granted Taraji was the focal point, but I'm still completely blown out by General Mona. General Mona was amazing in this Yeah, every everybody involved in this thing was amazing. It's a great story.

It's well told Well, you expected that from a lot of them. It's honest. Yeah, it's like I said in my review Octavia Spencer's going to get overlooked because she's so good all the time to look easy That she's going to get outshadowed by the other two.

Yeah, and but because that's just she's always consistently that good My silver medal for the year Three superhero movies in a row Deadpool I feel so stupid for not having I am so happy that this movie was as good as it was Because number one the journey it took to get this film made number two the commitment that Ryan Reynolds gave to it Number three the fact that he's still so committed that the director had to leave because he wanted to do it on a grander scale He's like no, we need to dance with the ones that run us you're talking about for the for the impending follow-up Yes, and the fact that he Took a swing at this character and X-Men origins Wolverine and it didn't quite Equal out to what he was hoping for he said give me never shot and he and he does that right in the opening Yeah, probably wondering how got this movie. I won't say his name, but it rhymes is schmolvereen He captures the essence of this character Everybody's great in this the guy that plays colossus is great Uh Gina Carano. How you doing?

um She's that one girl Honestly, it it may capture the essence of a comic book character better than Almost any comic book character based film. I'm not gonna debate that It is the truest representation Of from page to screen. I don't know how it can get any closer.

Are really starring some Canadian douche come on The opening credits seem alone. Well, yeah, you're already done and then hadn't even started I do nothing about Deadpool before the movie started either And I love it and it was fantastic I walked out going I need a Deadpool costume. Yes, and it's and a collection of the comics because I'm telling you the books are as good as that film I mean the opening credits.

It's the moment you've all been waiting for Don your favorite film of 2016 if chance. Oh, this is probably be his one or two all right I know it's your probably number one. Okay, let's talk about it.

Gleason. It is my number one. Gleason We're done it out this movie.

I mean it's coast Manchester so close Let's just talk at your this is a documentary If you remember the first game that was played in the super dome after Katrina in 2007 No 2006 The opening drive by Atlanta Punt is is blocked by this guy Steve Gleason. I believe his name return for a touchdown He ends up retiring in 2010 finding out that he has blue garrots a l l s And so that a week after he gets Diagnosed they find out that he and his wife are pregnant with their first child and This movie works in three different directions direction one is him recording the videos for his son to teach him things as he grows up Road number two Number two is Gleason himself and the journey that he takes as he deteriorates you actually see the video where he says This is the last video. I'm going to be able to speak in with the slurred voice correct The third direction is the journey of his wife who stands by her man through this entire ordeal But the emotion that emotional hell that she goes through just to try to keep the wheels on everything This movie will make you laugh.

It will make you cry. It will make you think This movie is Free thing. It is now available on Amazon Prime This film It's so rough to watch that I don't think I could watch it again It pulls no punches.

I literally saw the trailer like a few weeks ago because uh one of my other favorite radio shows We were talking about it And if you can make it through the trailer without choking up Yeah, check your book watch watch why I'll watch because this thing The beauty of it is this guy has a sense of humor's wife has a sense of humor and there's And there's points where you're about ready to cry or you're crying if then you see something need to get that good laugh back in You know, it'll make you laugh and cry in every emotion that you will go through There's some scenes that I'm so uncomfortable with faith healer. I still remember that. Yeah without making me mad.

Yeah, yeah But the beauty about this film This is one of the few films that really truly shows the living hell of what ALS is no matter your political view no matter nothing You may think this about it watch this film and you will have a different feeling about it with this horrible When it finishes there's also punches when it finishes the first thing you're going to want to do is find everybody you love and hug them Like I'm getting stopped up thinking about this film That's how powerful it is and again, it is available currently I know it's on amazon video. I don't know if it's on hulu or netflix Whatever it costs you to rent this from wherever or get the dvd or whatever Do it whatever you're gonna pay for it. It's worth twice as much as you're going to pay It's Every emotion it is it's everything and everything It's You will be mentally exhausted in a really good way by the end of this and There's nothing in 2016 that's going to beat this film.

I don't care what it says. Chad I know that you didn't get to see this and you just were came close, but no this yeah I know you didn't see this film. So you're gonna have a different number one than we did This is not gonna come as a shock to anybody.

Okay When we saw a couple weeks ago rogue one you got it number 12 on my list great Enjoyed it very much. I get goose bumps every time someone mentions this online No film shocked me more this year as far as The bang to hype ratio. It's been a long time since since the film turned me into a seven-year-old Where were you and I were just elbowing each other yeah Yeah, yeah, I was I was back in great school again first film since Jedi.

I've seen multiple times in a theater So that shouldn't tell you something that's saying a lot if if you got into a screening and you went back and paid And I paid iMac 3d. Thank you. Yeah, that's that's a testament to how much you enjoyed a film So it seems a little bit anticlimactic after after you guys talked up But again, you didn't see glee so it's it's different Yeah, I mean, I mean, I liked it.

I mean it wasn't a lot better than the one last year But I really was surprised because it was two different movies. It was two different movies and I love how it built to The Star Wars saga in the end. I like how Kevin and Mark Bernardin said they should just call it episode zero And just put it in put it in the saga time If you've seen the film listen to their review because he says a line in that review that is Absolutely brilliant, but it is a spoiler.

So I'm not gonna say it on this show. I'll talk about it off air Okay, but David and I were actually talking about it at lunch today and it's it's the perfect line for this film Anything else that you gentlemen would want to add to favorite films that you saw this pressure that we haven't discussed No, it's it's We're pushing two and a half hours at this point All right Well, we appreciate you guys being here and offering your insights into our lists I know we're a couple of weeks late, but life kind of got in the way kids.
