The wife was actually watching that last night when I got home
Average just over two million viewers
And the Christmas special did 2.3 million viewers
I think always does mad numbers the Christmas special is
That's always a big deal for them
So every British series has it's like that's what their Christmas day centers around is their
Running series having these big Christmas shows
They've did the every one of them has one seems like anyway
Also congratulations to the people over at the Downton Abbey
Was above which my wife is a huge fan
There's season premiere was season five correct if I'm not mistaken

Starting off American Idol season 14
What a bullet in this thing

Like even saying it's down 34% from last year
Most series would kill for those numbers
I know one that would impact but
But you know empire
Followed that their new series with Terence Howard and Terrasi Behenson
It's their best new show premiere rating in three years with 9.8 million viewers
They're on calling it tomorrow

Where we take a person or an entity and we debate their greatness or lack of their love this week the pendulum swings the Chad

You and I have discussed this particular topic a couple of times in whether or not it's in an audience or
You know, whether it adds to the the anticipation of a series or whatever
But
Something hit the interwebs that wound up being debunked apparently that they were toying with the idea of breaking
The dawn of justice the Batman v Superman film into two movies which I'd been okay with it was a bother me
And I guess they were wanting to
Float the idea that it would be a kind of a cool thing to get a DC property in theaters this year rather than waiting
Which I understood that logic because Marvel owns this year
They weren't more importantly Disney owns this yeah no kidding
But they were they were the rumor was it was gonna be opening in October
And again, what have been okay with it and I know that you had your
opinion about how you weren't really thrilled about them making the Hobbit into three films
Yeah, I was very upset about that because I felt like a money grabbed to me
Especially as much as the deceleration. It was no drag
It was the two towers of the series and you know you you've had this you've had this trend that I don't who started it Harry Potter or Twilight
Which would which I think Harry Potter did it first where they keep making the lights
The last book and turned it into the suit. They've believed it was Harry Potter first and then Twilight did it
I'm doing it and I've seen them kind of mentioned that divergent is gonna you got a long way to go for that though
Yeah
But with this trend constantly popping up
When is when is enough enough?
It was five years ago
I mean
Does anybody see this as a good thing? I mean you you're saying that the Batman thing was a good thing
But see with the amount of story you're trying to tell in that film
I get it and plus strategically I get it because you're trying to keep that footprint in that market
Would anybody have cried if the Hobbit had only been two films? I don't think they would have my daughter probably because she wants as much as she can get
But I think overall
You're looking and people would say the same thing like with the Harry Potter thing with so much story
They had to tell they had to break it into two books or two films
You know, Charlotte she's our Hunger Games expert
She said it would have been fine if they didn't mocking Jay and one movie, but she could see why they wanted to tell more story
But that doesn't seem like a cash grab to you
Whereas the Hobbit does but that doesn't it asked me that question after I've seen mocking Jay part two
Because I really felt that mocking Jay part one had a lot of story to tell
to get ready for
What will be
The final battle but the book is no thicker than the other two
That's because I've got all three books and I'm like they all look like they're the same size to me
He depends on how much of the battle is actually in the part part two of it
If it's more story and then there's a quick battle
The thing with the Hobbit was though and once I read this it really kind of
Reinforce my theory of why it should have only been two films the battle of the five armies and the Hobbit is one chapter
They made an hour and a half out of it
And so 10 minutes in the beginning of that film that should have been tacked onto the second one
Because if you're gonna call a film spoiler or spoiler alert in three two don't say the one
If you're gonna call a movie the desolition of smile
Then you need to demolish smile
In that film you don't do it 10 minutes into the next one
I mean I agree with them, don't yeah, I mean am I wrong here? I don't know yeah
It it was a kind of a sticking point with me. I'm like you know you'll why call it
You'll like say you're say you're gonna make you're gonna make an adaptation of the death of Superman
And you call the first film in a series the death of Superman and Superman still alive at the end of that film
And you just got lied to your halfway through the the doomsday fight. Yeah, you know
You don't peel my boots and tell me it's raining dude, and then you go the other way with that
The dark night rises spoiler alert in three two don't say the one
We didn't let you know we're we're gonna break this back in this one
It was just kind of the dark night rises, right?
So I was kind of cool with finding out what you're gonna do it. Okay. You're gonna do this in the storyline. Okay. That's fine
But you weren't promising me that going in and and if and correct me if I'm wrong here
There was nothing in the trailer so I would have let the tell me that either nope
No, which I as much as the dark night rises let me down as a Batman fan outside of seeing his broken cowl on on some of the key art
Right, but we were we still weren't sure what that was referring to
Broken bat anybody anybody that's a true geek gets that that that was pretty much a subtle hint of yeah
This is happening now your average Joe movie goer that has a red night fall right wouldn't wouldn't figure that or known who
Bain was as he was walking away and right one sheet, but I just I
Think we're just getting to a point where
We actually have to feed sequels
Because we're so concerned about not having anything to put out there
Now you if you subscribe on iTunes if you don't subscribe on tunes you might want to
Because we'll have a special edition coming up Friday for a movie that we saw this weekend
that
The way it ends you could franchise it or you don't have to
So I make sure that you're tuned in for that
But and I like the way that film did it and
What we can talk about that off air, but it's just
You know you look at something like guardians of the galaxy
You could do a sequel you don't have to do a sequel
But if you did one I'd be okay with it because I don't feel like that would be a money grab it's just evolving
Story like we're getting one. I know we are yeah, I'm just saying the way that ended but okay, and now that you've opened that cano worms

I know what you look like we've met it's great when you can photo bomb someone subtly

I just want to go to the gym put my headphones on get my workout on to be done

That doesn't mean you can headline

But why is she headlining a tour
Because someone was dumb enough to give them that money to do it, but that's everybody now
Like when you've got one album your headlining a tour you can't do a set around one album because the world right now is like instantaneous and now now now now now
If that song becomes popular
They want to they want to make their money now while they're before they do something stupid then
Make do a month and they're gonna stop the stupid do like a club tour or something

Sad but true there was a time when South by Southwest and you can think it's really about any music festival

That's why it was created and it got so far away from what it was they can't real it back in now
Now if you're a band trying to break through good luck getting into South by yeah, you can because it's all about now
Marky artists that are gonna bring them to Austin
Is it marky or is it like mid-marky artists that go there both?
It's almost at the point where South by's got to split itself. It's already split itself between music and movies
Yeah, I think you got you got prints and depression mode playing in South by now
You have to it's to the point now that maybe South by needs to have a separate weekend just for unsigned
Yeah, and do that first and then have your big part because it's already a two weekend event, right?
Make it a month and do your do your indie artists the first two weekends and then your major artists the second two weekends
Traffic in that 10 that town is bad enough as
They don't need to shut it down for a month. They don't need to be extra two weeks and number one

San Diego comic oh no way do I debate you on that
I'm to the point now with San Diego that
If you if you're not in San Diego now you'll never get a ticket to San Diego yeah because they sell next years
Take it's the day that this year opens and all of the 40 passes are sold out you can't even get them yeah
And if you're gonna go to San Diego Comic-Con you better bring a winning lottery ticket with you
They don't know there that's the mega millions we're talking because you know the best way to do San Diego Comic-Con
Know somebody who lives there crash on their couch for four days now. I'll save you about three grand on a hotel
And then pray you can at least get a one-day pass
It's really sad the best way to go is just to be

And there's when they pulled the camera back. I can't remember which documentary it may be building an empire or creating it
But I can't remember what I was called
On like the second DVD release and it it looks like there's maybe
10 people in there
Walking around now shoot
It's you'll run into 10 people in the parking lot before you get out of the car

Because the San Diego Comic-Con is on my bucket list and I don't know that out ever be able to fulfill it

What I want to go is some some fair assessment of my youth left and they're right much of it

You know, going to celebration to and dealing with that was bad enough. I can't even imagine what San Diego's like
It's like you have to take one whole day just to cover the convention floor and then
Schedule that around sitting in lines for three and four hours to get into convention halls and pray to God
There's a seat available for you. It's a mess
And that has that mess has
Snowballed into every other Comic-Con across the country including this town
That shocked me when we went to the to the Dallas Comic-Con. I'm like good lord. Yeah, who knew
Congratulations on all that but I'm gonna tell you something if I want to picture with a celebrity
I'm not gonna pay 150 bucks now
Or you but used to be you could just have somebody take a picture of you at the table and you're done with it
No, no, no, you can't do that now
You now have to make an appointment to go stand behind a curtain and get it shot by a professional photographer
And it'll cost you a bone in a half
If you're lucky depending on having a great night brother depending on the level of the celebrity that you're having your picture taken with too. Oh, yeah
There's like a whole menu
It's insane
How is that enjoyable for anyone for anyone people that will save their money up all year just for that
And then and then you want an autograph that's even more
So stupid
Insanity and it makes me sad because it's killing the spirit of what it was
