The Clubhouse – Episode 21

it is eight o'clock on the east coast it is five o'clock on the west coast
anywhere else it's whatever time you watch tells you it is if you're listening
to this on the archive it is whatever time you're watch still says it is it
is Tuesday night which means it is time for the clubhouse with Rob and Cody
welcome it is the last Tuesday of the month which means it's a great show
it's a special show I as always I am Rob as always I am joined by Cody hello
happy Hanukkah tomorrow tomorrow two and two are our friends that you gave
faith yes a crazy night starts tomorrow we actually had a lot of growing up
in South Florida we actually did a lot of study on that it's a very interesting
the festival lights so it's known as yes we're going to dive right into the
deep end of the pool we got a lot to get to we start as we always do with
corrections price waterhouse said we were clean did you have anything come not
to my knowledge I'm sure there was something because we can't throw a perfect

know that look like a hockey fight I think that's what I heard somebody
compare it's the worst one I've seen but these kids get $25,000 fine to
peace and no suspension yeah do you buy this theory that's being run around
out there right now the tier no okay what do you go first the theory that I'm
hearing is the reason that they're not getting suspended is because somebody's
team plays on Thursday night yeah that the the Eagles are hosting Houston my
doctor and that's on what channel that would be on the network was owned by the
NFL there you go I kind of buy it could be I'm one of the another thing floating
around is the they're supposedly a fine tier when it comes to fighting okay
okay first time offense is only supposed to be $7,500 that's what the first
time you fight somebody it's a $7,500 that's it that's what the four-letter
network said the robot leader so I think you've tripled that what's fine and do
I mean what's sitting on out do you've caused a more money yeah but I'll
tell you what and real quick Cortland Finnegan stick to your own weight class
bro yeah I don't need to fight Tyson I've heard that that's one thing I've
also heard that he's kind of got what they call shortman syndrome yeah he is a
smaller guy pretty scrappy this is their second run in they had a run in last
year in Nashville Nash Vegas down there and he dropped a mother F bomb oh yeah
he was he was don't know him don't like him he probably went to Texas that'll
be on next week's corrections I'm sure I don't know his background but that he's
a pro bowler Cortland Finnegan's got some skins I'd never even heard of it so
he they're both pro bow players but I thought it was funny Andre Johnson got
the game ball after the game yeah I saw that I thought that was pretty somebody
else got a game ball too I'm sure we'll talk about here in a while which I

between him and Pacquiao yeah I still think in this country I still think in
this country you've got some you've got some situations where football is
always going to rain over certain sports and boxing's one of them but he had

work in the New Orleans area the kid with the the muffs on that was plastered
everywhere his son thanksgiving day they went inside his his they did a deal
for the troops in the Navy so yeah DrewBreeze great good for that kid because
you remember when he was in San Diego he had some some rough going and my dolphins
passed on him yeah man a lot of people killed me a lot of people you know Dallas
what you know they wanted Roma New Orleans wanted Roma if you remember that they
were wanting to be throwing in practice this week he's done scratch him we'll

about this this is something that I this reminds me a lot of both Jackson the
injury he suffered playing for the Oakland for that Los Angeles Raiders at that
time once you start messing with these hips it's hard hard hard to to replace
that I don't know if they're talking about a hip replacement surgery but it is
cracked and anytime you crack a hip it can't be good but this reminds me a lot of
that both Jackson injury if there's anybody out there listening of that age
that remembers both Jackson I mean it's unstoppable running back guess what he
broke his hip and he never I really thought he was gonna come back from that
because now baseball he did baseball he did had the big you know the big campaign
where he's doing the Nike commercial on Dennis Leary's going while he's
swimming in a pool with a weight on his back eating a sandwich what do you do in
watching commercials yeah I mean this reminds me a lot and I hope not because I'm
not a big university of Miami guy I always like Frank Gore he was a good guy
not really a lot of thug in him but I hate when these things happen you know I'm
saying that's what concerns me and when they say cracked hip that just that
just sounds harsh because you can't cast it all you can do is go in there put a
pin in it or cut it off and plastic replace it that's it that's all right you

question is Atlanta the best football team in the league they're acting like they
want to be I don't know if they are this thing in I think New England
starting to get a little frisky well they beat Green Bay Sunday in Atlanta
20 to 17 the Atlanta just doesn't have that flash for me that goes they never
have and they've been to the Superbowl in recent years then we got Pittsburgh and
Buffalo I know you want to talk a little bit about this deal here is they beat
Buffalo 19 to 16 which almost didn't happen because somebody drops a pass
and then on Twitter blames God yeah did I miss a meeting that was a weird weird
yeah the receiver and mr. Missy just stopped everything she was doing because it
is ladies wrestling round table yes yeah he dropped blatantly dropped the pass
and and you and I talked about this at lunch today it's that syndrome where the
balls coming at you and you can't believe how honestly open he was he was
wide open I mean couldn't like I think I was closer to the guy in Dallas to
Buffalo then the defenders were clean dropped it yeah and then the next day on
Twitter blames God I mean I give you all the praise and this is what happened
and I'm starting to get a little wacky on Pittsburgh I don't know if they're that
good name I don't I'm kind of we'll find that out on Sunday I don't know if
they're that good in the battle for rather be lucky than good yes in a battle for

again Jacksonville they're hanging they're still in there but they do lose

what I was practicing early which I thought was pretty sad Adrian Peterson banged

I think they can make a run and still get in we talked about the Houston
game earlier they beat Tennessee 20 to nothing I hope you're dark horse yes Oakland
how do you go dolphins win again Miami getting hot again well again yeah Oakland

guy I agree it's too much of a carousel there I'm gonna tell you right now I'm
getting ready to concede this dark horse thing already I'm gonna tell you right
now Kansas City's a foot but again we got to get to the playoffs got to go deep
yeah yeah you got to go deep into playoffs you have to you have to be the last
team standing but and there's another young lady in the room that's looking to

like they're a complete football team and you know what and I we're gonna bring

Anderson yeah I heard I heard the audio I saw the video when I got home yeah
he got responsibly laughing and cutting up and Groot and said something on the
air and a reporter asking what he was laughing about he went a list that
reporter was pretty much told to mine his own business well you know what the
camera's gonna be on you yes for 60 minutes of football that you're gonna be
cutting up and carrying on when you're down three touchdowns be prepared for
that question I'm not saying the reporter was out of line I don't think it was a
necessary question per se but I don't think I'll tell you one thing I've got to
give that reporter some salutes all hats off that would have never happened in

straight let's go we got to win at home we've won one game at home this year we

different cultures from Oakland to San Diego we are riding west this is the song
that's called and Dallas said Indianapolis this is one that I said is not
winnable it's not you think I gave you cowboys three winnable games I saw on the
first one with Detroit area Zona and Washington the only two and I saw I saw
you think paid man is gonna come out and get shellac two weeks in a row at
home if if they win I go Dallas and he's not gonna go out if they win I will do
this I just don't expect it to happen St. Louis at Arizona new new new St. Louis

really this actually kind of bumped me out when I heard it because I was

whack and into the mountain west that's correct let me tell you this though they
may win 10 football games a year but they won't win a basketball game for 20
I was gonna say enjoy your football wins because basketball wins will be Westford
Virginia far West Virginia give your quick West Virginia Georgetown Louisville
Yukon Rutgers Rutgers yeah St. John's there's Villanova I mean there's some
situations here I think that you know that gives them 10 there's rumors the big
East are wanting to add two more teams is there any rumors of who they're going
after see Villanova's got a choice they're either gonna go D1 in football or
stay where they're at that's a bad idea yeah I know that's UCF has been
floated around golden nights yes they got a game this weekend we'll get to
here you say yeah UCF is one that they're channeling on a radar right now is
UCF is this bad for Boise State them yes because it there goes a quality win
it goes it goes lateral yeah to me that's now a lateral move exactly um yeah
with with maybe TCU is dodged I think it's good for TCU right now I mean let's
be honest are you striking while the irons you're gonna have Yukon and or West
Virginia play in your BCS game and they're both gonna be their sub or right at
500 ball teams so the big image since I have a problem with anybody sub 500
being in any form of playoff yes and always have this ends this one thing I
get tired of college football just this time of years well so and so's not
getting to play so it will TCU you've now there's only one team that matters
to now that's Boise State Gary Patterson their coach is a huge fan of the
BCS system he said that my I don't know if my team could play seven or eight
ball games in the row like a roster Florida Texas Oklahoma Alabama I don't
know if my roster can win that ball game eight seven nine straight times he
doesn't think they can't and I and we'll talk about that as a point that's
coming up later because you've got the question to me that I yeah I mean but
that great great for TCU congratulations all the local schools minus one
that I think will be moving that's another one they've entertained would be
UCF and or SMU have also been rumored there so congratulations Boise State
sorry about your bad luck yeah get out of my life did they where they just
they they became the Yankees out of nowhere in that yeah and my mom lives in
Boise so I kind of she even said something about it yeah my mom who was in
studio about she said go Broncos I'm like Vinver that's their that's their bit

classic I hate for it to come down to kicks but hey that happens we'll talk about

made by Ohio's and that's true Gordon G who talks about teams like Boise State
and TCU saying they shouldn't be part of the BCS because when you play was
it sisters of the little sisters of the poor which a guy in Nevada had a sign
that said that on right and I which I thought was hilarious little sisters of
the poor but you know what here's my point on that I get what he's saying
everybody has cupcakes on the schedule until you're playing top 10 teams for
11 weeks you have no room to talk one thing about this guy is I'll tell you
this right now he obviously if you see it's picture he's got the the glasses
and the bow tie on he's probably never had a helmet or shoulder pads on his
life he's never even look like he's never even had played the game my whole
deal with with them is it's true I'll give him that probably not the best thing
to say but I'll tell you this from experience it's very hard to win a football game
just one even less all of them yeah maybe the the schedule wasn't what it's
supposed to be but hey they're not going to play for the national title this
loss this is a major you would have fought USC in 04 at lost Friday night the
media coverage I got like I said we'll cover that yeah just a moment tie
breakers now if you are in the big 12 or the big 10 let me set the scene for you
you're a team trying to get a BCS bid you win your final game of the season the
regular season you think you're in first place in your division or even in your
conference and whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa we have a three-way tie okay so let's let's
go with head-to-head records well oh okay well maybe that doesn't work I know
let's make you wait until tomorrow and the BCS rankings will decide who wins
your your division for the big 12 this is the second time in three years that
happened yeah when are you gonna fix this well the big 12 not to worry about it
anymore well that's a valid point because there is no more big 12 I mean they're
going to a round robin type conference next year where everybody kind of plays
everybody sprinkle in some non-conference and there you have it the big 10 is
that's a weird situation because well they're not gonna have that problem next
year either all they could though because they've got that ship game but it's
gonna be yeah you could yeah that's gonna be that's gonna be a weird thing I've
got I'm actually excited about the big 10 the way actually the big 11 now but the
big 12 would be the big 10 I'm excited about that that that expansion seeing
Nebraska seeing what Nebraska can do I think it should be settled on the field
when I promise you that year that that happened and I'm just gonna not to the
horn here but Bob's but I yeah yeah I remember and you remember this because
you called me and said stoop said hey let's replay oh you Texas and Mac
Brown went well we'll let the BCS yeah yeah but they were supposed to fix that
this year that's been offered let's play and everybody went no no no let's not
do that I think you want to push your championship games back a week and if
there's a two-way tie play I agree with you I think if you're you're relying on
an incredibly flawed system yes where somebody's gonna get screwed but the
main one out in the big 12 was Texas A&M you also had three losses so nine in
three teams not gonna jump a 10-in-2 team right care who you are well there's
your first time record though yes you so A&M tied the division you go to your
overall record okay A&M had that we beat up we yeah we Oklahoma beat Oklahoma
State Saturday night there you go they were the big 12 South champ boy in the
big 10 looks like the odd man out there will be Sparty Michigan State they're
saying a little scrappy team scrappy team has beat everybody on the schedule I
think Iowa losing keeps killing them should then we're gonna get that they're
here to all of you in there but yeah next year you don't have to worry about a lot
of this a lot of a conference championship games and people losing
conference championship games real quick on the big 12 hearing rumors of
Louisville that's not bad for them especially from a basketball
yeah there's been rumors that Dan BB has thrown out an exploration of Louisville
that came out in two papers one on being the daily Oklahoma and the the
Tulsa paper also that there is rumors of Louisville possibly coming over from
the Big East which then kills the Big East expansion and here we are again I'm
kind of concerned about this expansion it's get it's getting crazy in my
opinion I want to take this next bullet point I want to move it down okay a
little bit because it's going to tie into something else work you post a
question to me on email today that really gotten me thinking and the
question you post to me is would a college playoff make thanks giving weekend
pointless and I will answer that question because that's what we do on the
show no and I will tell you why you have too many rival regains on that
weekend that's try to make that weekend pointless you've got four to four
states you've got bedlam which is Oklahoma State Oklahoma for those of you
that don't know you've got Texas versus Texas a and M you've got you know USC
although this here was USC Notre Dame normally it's USC well that was did not
have that carried but but but what I'm saying is you've got too many games that
have too much pride on the line to really to not be did not have meaning in that
weekend and that's just where I'm coming from I think if you have top 25 first
top 25 that weekend does become pointless because I'm on the other side of
the fence on this well if we got dudes win and we get to go to playoffs
because everybody wants college football in the mindset where everybody gets a
medal everybody gets a partition everybody gets a trophy and that's one thing
I think college football can't get into that situation where everybody needs
an award winning on the field well that's why I want to go to a to a playoff
system where you have so have all your we don't need 64 football games and
a tournament basketball little less wear and tear on your body we don't need
six we don't need five weeks of football to determine a national champion a
little bit different situation I'm sure you know that's a little bit different
situation than what we've seen with with with with basketball but we ought to
let Northern Illinois and it really yeah the first time they get blown out we
ought to fire that guy he ran up the score Sabin ran up the score at Bama went
he beats Northern Illinois 50 to nothing you you wanted to come run with the big
dogs that's the way it's gonna roll yeah that's just the way I don't know and I
think we're so far away from that it's unreal especially since the four-letter
network as a six-year deal with the BCS you can go ahead and get comfortable the
BCS is not going anywhere for a lot of years on a lot of coaches like it it's
got as many critics as it does fans so it's on a level playing field here
Randy Shannon that's what I want to say yes we're saying we're gonna say that
here for just a little while let's now get to our BCS standings I've got them
I've got the officials pulled up top eleven I believe you started I started
you you did it by yourself last time I have to start this week currently your
BCS number 11 is Boise State University I have LSU at eleven I just think
that that as tough of a loss as that was I can't drop that I can't put them
above Boise State that's good because I don't have them ranked it on my top
eleven I have Nebraska oh you dropped them like a stone yeah actually and I
dropped them completely off my actually yeah Nebraska we'll see I had I drop
Boise completely off my list so that's why we do what we do yeah I mean I if I
was to rank it I had Boise about where they are if you see the expanded BCS
they're what 17 18 in the in the BCS right now Nebraska now I'm talking about
Boise State Boise State is number 11 their number 11 in the BCS they kept in
that high couldn't do that sorry and I've got them actually I've got Boise
State at 10 the the BCS has LSU at number 10 okay I also have LSU at 10 it's
tough to drop a two-loss team like a like a stone as you would say I know
Arkansas it's a late loss and I'll tell you what but for a while there they
were they were playing the best football in the country at one point and again
congratulations LSU you had a much better season than I think anybody I had
them eight and four on the I had them on the other end of the the the cliff
hanger number nine your BCS is your Oklahoma sooners my number nine I have the

Arkansas team looks to be I'm tell you whoever they I think they think you big
12 I will say they will get the the sugar bowl bit I've been saying that I
wouldn't want to play them right now they are hot they're scrappy they are
scrappy Ryan Mallett he's a pro guy that's kind of on the fence of stay or go
stay or go I think he needs to come back but I think sometimes a million are
a little bit too much to pass up on number eight in the BCS rankings are the
Michigan State Spartans my number eight I have your Arkansas race back hey I
had Oklahoma I'm not gonna I gave I gave your team work credit I don't know I
can't rank them again above some of these teams because they do have two losses I
think they have more quality wins than some teams ranked above them very very
very very impressed with with their with their output and Saturday night and

millions of Oklahoma and they earned it they went out and earned it I love this

knife turns to the head coach no you almost have to at that point it's Mac if
you go through two years Texas name is not even bull eligible they're not even in
a bowl game first time it happens since 1997 yeah they went from national
title to off radar wow and that that hurts recruiting then the Vince young
situation that they're going through is negative PR for Texas oh huge because I

jail and embraces certain pieces of his lifeline style and false about this
black one but that does really this is actually very highly anticipated a lot of
people have said the performances in that are very very comedy or serious a
dark comedy but it's it's Jim Carrey and Matt Damon so exactly and it's it's
funny so you know there's gonna be good performances there black swan the
latest from Darren Aranovsky who was at one time going to take Chris Nolan's
place to direct Batman begins way anymore but this is his newest one you've got
Natalie Portman in the lead as a ballerina and another girl comes in I
believe by me like you this and it's very very turns very very dark very
obsessive very very odd not not sure I'll be seeing that DVD and blueberry
releases this week your big one actually this comes out Saturday for some
reason they're releasing this on Saturday as the twilight saga eclipse releases
on Saturday so if you need to know where your teenage daughter is Friday night go
to Best Buy she'll be lined up outside the sorcerer is apprentice which I
thought was a bad idea from the get go and Disney is pimping the crap out of

Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 originally Disney said there were two movies we
will never release on home video that would be Fantasia because it's meant to
be seen in a theater and Snow White it's also some American I'll say they
never released on CD Fantasia no that's oh oh oh do not do not soil the
greatest of the original Fantasia I thought was great I saw the Asian 2000
in the in the iMacs that's pretty cool that's where the Mickey with the hat

absolutely that's actually called the sorcerers apprentice and that new Mickey
video game drops today epic Mickey which looks pretty cool night and day releases
on DVD today and Blu-ray that is all that died the Tom Cruise Cameron D
as debacle the same problem I had with this was the same problem I had with him
and anymore mission and possible I can't do it another one I can't buy Tom
Cruise as Billy B.A. anymore I can't imagine him as an action I'm just waiting
for the movie that him and Ben Stiller are doing about the character that he
has topics on there snow well remember he did a bit on the MTV

that's right man they're doing a movie about that character I can't wait that's
gonna be funny also a documentary we talked about Disney just a minute ago I
this will be a this will be a viewing for me if I can get on the
Insta Q I may watch it tonight called waking sleeping beauty this is a
documentary about Disney animation in the 80s where they almost shut the doors
kept it open long enough to get a movie out called the Little Mermaid
and breathe life back into Disney I am very much looking forward to seeing this
documentary that was it was shown when isn't theaters it wasn't anywhere within
two thousand miles here huh I would have gone to see it theatrically for other

to music news Kanye West well he's just something else let's it fly last week
that he stated Taylor Swift rode the wave of the VMAs to her popularity I've
got a question didn't she win a VMA at that point so she pretty much
had something going on yeah he's something else did you see what Quincy Jones
said about him somebody compared compared Kanye to Quincy Jones because
everybody wants to work with him and Quincy went whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
I'm I produce things he's just a rapper that's true he is he's just a rapper but
is he an entrepreneur he bought a fat burger bought ten of them ten fat
burger restaurants in Chicago I missy were you telling me about fat burger
there they've got one in Vegas I've heard very very good things about I've
heard of the good burger that's it's a TV show that's TV show that was
keen in and Kell actually that was not a TV show or a movie yeah what was
that it was a movie they were on a TV show called all that that's fun off

iTunes I don't know if you know the background on this you know what the most

the background on this the original the whole problem was when Apple first
formed as a computer company the Beatles yeah that's right that's a
Apple records they said okay here's the settlement as long as you don't touch

settled it they went online available on iTunes last week one holdout who is

that we're going to look forward to talking to local champion local champion yeah Cody's already
challenged him for the title I don't know what's going on there I will bring a video camera you will

broadcasting live from one to three in the afternoon it will be a full two hour show there's going
to be guests we're going to have we're going to unveil our brand new logo which I'm very excited

from the jacuzzi display so I may take a couple to take some time maybe take a wire west with me
