My name is Rob, I am the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast and it is week
2 of the Green Room Studios.
We have at least 2 or 3 more.
We will talk more about that later.
I am not alone as I rarely ever am on this show, which is a good thing.
Joining me to my right because he is not across the desk because we don't have the desk.
It is my co-host and a man that is feverishly trying to take advantage of giga speed.
He is Chad, I am going to turn on my calendar.
You have to turn the mic on, hold on, that is weird, we are going to figure something

There is one button that was not pushed, again we are using the road rig, we are not in
the studio, so sometimes we have a couple of bugs to work out.

This is going to be awkward for a few weeks, but as we said the show must go on and the
show will go on in one form or another.
Had a great time last week, watching the paper view, we have another would come up in
two weeks for Survivor Series and make sure we are going to be live at the Henderson Tap
House in downtown Dallas.
We are going to talk more about that as the show goes on.

a little bit in NASCAR because there is not much going on right now.
If you are here in the Metroplex, we have been experiencing quite a bit of what the kids
like to call the rain today and it has put the race in delay.
Right now you can watch if it was on your local NBC affiliate, of course now we're getting
ready for Sunday night football.
So if you are in the, if you are watching the, looking for the race from the crawler, I just
read they have moved it to NBC SN.
So if you are a person who likes the NASCAR, that's where you're going to finish up this
race.
Not really much to talk about beyond that because we can't give you the full update.
So we can't give you last week's updated standings.
So you know where we are.
I get to doing this all on one computer.
So you're just going to have to give me just a minute to get caught up here because my
computer is running away bit slow because I have a lot of tabs open right now.

So right now as it stands until we get back underway, Austin Dillon, the new sheriff
in town, he is leading the race.
He actually had the pole position, but we don't know what's going on beyond that because
the race hasn't finished yet.
We'll know as soon as the race finishes, they may have to finish this thing tomorrow morning
because it's already 10 after six central standard time because by the way, we hope
everybody remember to turn their clocks back last night.
Otherwise you've tuned into the one ring where the show is.

So in television headlines, the Simpsons renewed for season 29 and 30.

also noticed that us not being in the studio, it sounds like we're constantly on a road

So again, if you haven't early voted Tuesday is election day, make sure you get out there.
If you're an American, because I don't know how that works, and other countries, I don't
think they're having elections this week, I don't know for sure.

But we do want to move on and go to POI, which stands for a person of interest, which is a
segment we do on this show, where we take a person or an entity.
And we debate their greatness or lack of their love.
And it is Chad's turn, so I'm going to turn it over to you.
I got kind of a shock today.

Was just doing some garden variety browsing.
I think I actually shared the story on my page.
And saw the Tarantino announcement.
Now, for those of you that might be scratching your head,
wondering what the heck I'm talking about.
Apparently, I want to say it was at some sort of a press junket for a,
possibly a film festival or something.
He's announced that these next two films of his are going to be his last.
And he's made illusions that one of them is going to be a body and
Clyde like non-fiction piece.
And he really didn't clarify what the other one, whether it's the next one or the last one,
is going to be about.
So are you talking about your POI being Tarantino or
retirements in general?
Well, about Tarantino's retirement.
You think it's too soon.
Do you think it's him just trying to go out while he's still at the top of his game?
I wouldn't say he's really at the top of his game.
I think he's he's got new life in the game after the hatefully.
Well, I mean, Django was rock solid.
I thought Django was okay.
In glorious bastards was rock solid.
In glorious bastards was good, but it dragged for me in a few spots.
I mean, outside of like if you could point out one week link in the chain of his,
of his films, about the only one that immediately comes to my mind.
Jackie Brown is Jackie Brown and the only reason I say that,
but that's also like being the prettiest girl or the ugliest girl at a pretty party.
Well, you know what I mean?
I mean, it's still good to me.
The only thing that Jackie Brown is truly guilty of is being the follow up to POI fiction.
That's fair.
That's fair.
You go back and watch that film again and it's aged really well.
It to me, it's aged just about as well as fiction has.
Really?
And I didn't think I would feel that way.
I'm like, this really is a good solid film.
It just had the misfortune of following what is arguably his masterwork.
See, I get's horn because as much as I do love POP fiction.
Do we love POP fiction as his masterpiece or do we love POP fiction for being the first film
really of its kind?
Because that was the film that he quote on quote arrived with.
Well, to me, I can't really, I mean, a lot of people feel that way because they weren't aware of him during reservoir dogs.
Because honestly, if I've got both of those films sitting on the shelf and I'm going to watch one of them,
it's going to take me a minute to make a decision because to me POP fiction and reservoir dogs are one in one egg.
Yeah, they really are.
To me, it would be like I'll watch reservoir dogs again because I haven't watched it in a while.
And I probably just watched POP fiction a couple of months back.
Just because I'm a creature of heaven. I love that film so much.
And every time I watch reservoir, I forget how much I loved it.
Oh, no.
That's one of those films that I loved to revisit every couple of years or so.
And I see something new in it every time.
Exactly.
And I still kind of feel like I want to give a little bit of credit to true romance.
Granity didn't direct it, but he wrote it as DNA is all over.
Didn't he produce it to?
No, he didn't have this capital yet.
That's what gave him the capital to do reservoir dogs.
Okay.
But to me, it's just kind of sad because I like the idea that he's probably wanting to go out on top and he doesn't want to take the route that Spielberg took.
Because you got it, Mitt.
Spielberg hasn't had a rock solid hit film critically commercially in the better part of two decades.
Really?
Seriously.
We got three words for you, sir.
What's that?
Bridge of spies.
Great.
I'm commercially.
It did very well.
But it didn't do private.
I'm an Oscar nomination or three.
But still, to me, everything Spielberg touched.
If it had Spielberg's name on it, everything associated with it was almost nobody else just even.
Nobody else even bothered to show up.
And believe me, I'm not taking anything away from Bridge of spies.
You know how I feel about that film.
I don't know how I feel about that film.
I don't love the two, but it wasn't a success on the level of films like Private Ryan on the one he did before that.
But he has a lot more competition really now than he did back then.
And a lot of people have caught up to him visually.
This is true.
This is true.
He's not the ground breaker that he once was.
And I'm almost thinking that maybe that's what's making Tarantino make this decision.
That there are so many other copycats now.
I said, but I wouldn't call him copycats.
I think everybody has just caught up on the level of filmmaking.
Because you look at a film like Hacksaw Ridge, which released this weekend,
which we actually have our written reviews up at www.theclubhousepodcast.com.

And I'm not afraid to say it here.
Best war story I've seen since being a band of brothers.
And I'm going to sit this on top of Private Ryan.
From a pacing standpoint, if nothing else.
It's, I don't see it as a copycat because if you watch Hacksaw Ridge,
I don't watch this in Gov.
This is trying to be saving Private Ryan.
Not taking until the last third of it.
But I still don't.
Because I look at it and it stands on its own merit.
Yeah.
And as much as imitation is as serious form of flattery,
I don't agree that it's imitation.
I think everybody is, it's so much easier to find your voice
and find your vision that it was 20 years ago.
When we didn't have digital filmmaking, we didn't have 4K capability
in our phones.
Right?
I think it's just more people are getting more access
to be able to have a voice.
And I think Tarantino, and as much as I hate to say it,
you know what my gut feeling is on this?

He's taking his ball and going home because he can't be the guy anymore.
He can't be the savant.
Yeah.
That everybody goes to to do whatever they want him to do.
He's not the guy.
Father time is undefeated.
Well, plus he coped a pretty major attitude
this past holiday season over the release of the, of the hateful aid.
Again, a brilliant film.
So much sound.
Absolutely.
Love that film.
Yeah.
The 35 millimeter balloon.
Or that's 70.
It was the 35 or 70.

What happened?
Whatever.
Whatever the rocho traveling rocho.
Absolutely melted my brain.

Because they had to bring it to certain theaters.

This thing was amazing.
But by the same token, he tarnished it a little bit by his,
his diva-ish attitude by saying that the force of wakeens was stealing his box.
I was like, you're the one that, you wanted to release that thing at the same time.
Yeah.
So it's the same argument I have for Assassin's Creed.
As much as I enjoy fast bender, as much I want to see that film.
And I'm very much looking forward to it.
You're releasing that thing four days after ro one.
So good luck with all that.

And the window between, like, what's, what's your next major tent pole release from any studio right now?
Between now and ro.

People are going to get stuff out there.
And there's going to be people that are going to put their careers at risk.
Because they want to be that guy.

We know people on our social circles that like to be that guy,
that ruin everything for everybody else.
So those people are out there.
You either deal with it and you adapt to it.
Or like I said, my initial thought,
when I read this headline is that he's just taking his ball
is going home because he's not the guy anymore.
And I hope that's not.
And that makes me sad because I like him a lot.
I'm a huge fan.
But as we've seen in the last few years,
he's got an old kind of crotchet.
He has kind of gotten.

But what do you think the likelihood of that is?

If the majority of this stuff because you know, we started hearing about the vault in the in the mid to late 80s.

Was not that expensive and you got to stay there and you got you forgot fed the buffet
There were just tables themed of food all the way through this banquet hall
One was just all sushi
That two dessert tables one was regular chocolate one was white chocolate and
You got breakfast the next morning. Yeah, my kid would love this
I'm telling you it was not nearly as expensive as you would have thought it would have been
I'm on board with this. I don't know what it's done. I mean, this is probably a decade ago
