This will be Victor Garber's last season.
That does not mean Firestorm will not exist.
He may just be Jack's B&B Firestorm all the time.
Don't know for sure.
But John Constantine, the character, will be returning to Legends of Tomorrow.
And they've got the guy, Matt.
Him or his name is not Matt Smith, is it?
That played him on the NBC TV series, which I really, really liked.
And I was very upset when NBC canceled it.
It's Matt's something.
Of course I'm blanking right now.

The Joker's Wild with the Snoopy Dog Dog is going to debut on October 24th.

But the fact that they're bringing it back with the Snoopy Dog Dog makes it even more fun.
They've been promoting this thing for like two months.
I'm excited that's coming back.
I will probably, I got a lot going on on Tuesdayness from a DVR standpoint.
So I may have to do an on demand through the TBS app or something of its ilk as well.
So we'll have to keep an eye on that.

Some very special people are coming into the studio.

We were just talking about Russ putting the chat room that the Joker's Wild is coming back.
Oh, the game show.
And it's being hosted by the Snoopy Dog Dog.
That will debut next Tuesday on the TBS.

They're going to be rebooting if you remember back in the day.

Something that I've been waiting on for many, many moons is finally coming to fruition next year.
Batman, the animated series is finally coming to Blu-ray next year.
I've been waiting for the Blu-ray and I've been holding out.
I almost re-bought the DVDs, but I held out.

American God season one, if you missed that on stars, will be available this week.

So, but normally like, we always would love to have Kelly come by the studio whenever she wants
to be on the show. But Kelly has someone with her. Yay. And we're going to talk because what we're
going to be talking about right now is one of the coolest things. Can you, can you not hear? Can you
got? Now you can. Okay, perfect. What we're going to be talking about is is this still affiliated
with video fast? No. Okay, so this is a separate deal. This is a Dallas chamber. Yes. And it's
one of the really cool things that you get to see if you live in the Dallas Fort Worth area. And
since Kelly is a PR person for a living and can do this 20 times better than I ever could,
I'm going to let her take it away. Well, thanks for having us. I am thrilled to be here. And
thanks for letting us come over. So today, we, so Dallas chamber symphony is a, it's in its
sixth year, it's starting its sixth, it'll be opening its sixth season on Tuesday. And one of
the things that I absolutely adore and love and just, you know, wouldn't, wouldn't be anywhere else
for is when they do their unsilent films. And they say unsilent because there is going to be a new
score that was written by the man that's sitting next to me. I love this concept. And, and it's
performed live by the chamber symphony, the Dallas chamber symphony under the direction of Richard
McKay. And so the man sitting next to me is Douglas Pipes. And this is the second time that we,
the Dallas chamber symphony has had Douglas here to do a new score for a film in 2014.
Go that, just talk straight into that thing. There we go. Yeah. Um, he did the Alfred Hitchcock's
The Roger. I was there for that. And holy cow. So let's, let's talk about this concept for people,
for people that don't know, um, Mr. Pipes, welcome to the show, by the way. Thank you so much for
having me. I'm a huge fan of your work the last time I saw it. I love what they're doing with this
because what they're doing is they're taking old silent films. And they're having very talented
composers come in and do a completely new score that has played live with the film while you're
sitting in the room watching it because it's kind of the way it used to be back in the day. Yes,
this, this just gets me. And so it's not like you're going to see the movie again. You're seeing
the movie in a completely different light because you're getting to see it with a, with someone else's
interpretation of the score. And I was, again, I was there for the larger. And it was, I mean,
Hitchcock's Hitchcock. And by the way, Kelly, you missed it earlier. We didn't have to make a
correction from our last time together. The 78 52 with 78 camera setups 52 cuts. We had a
backwards. Oh, did we? Oh, that's so sorry. I had to look it up. I was like, we do that right?
But it's, you get to be there now. Correct me if I'm wrong, sir. But is it, is it like the last time
where you were here where there's not a whole lot of time for the people to prepare for it? Or did
you have more time this go around? Less time. Less time. Did they have like a day and a half?
It's like guys, you'll get it when you get there. It's okay. Well, the prefer, yeah. No, but he had
less time to, to compose it. Yeah. So I think I had half as much time this time to get right
upon it. There we go. He's like, now I'm hugging it. I think I have it's clown nose.
So, so yeah, this time it was a tight composing schedule, but you are correct. They have their first
rehearsal tomorrow, and they're going to rehearse it in the morning, in the afternoon, and then a
brief dress rehearsal, and then the show. How many people are in the chamber? 15 musicians. So right
about the same as when you did it a few years ago. That was 10. Okay, I was going to say it's
got to be at least in the ballpark of that. Yes. And this is something that it's, go ahead, Jen.
I was going to say in the Dallas Symphony Chamber, they are extremely talented to begin with.
They, it's, yeah, it's one of those that I get goosebumps when I hear I get to go see something
by them. They are very talented. We are very lucky to have you coming in and doing this. It's an
amazing project, and we're glad we get to speak to you tonight to get the word out to some more
people who may or may not know this goes on, but it's, it's so fun to see this come to life.
Yes, it's this, the Dallas Chamber Symphony is a jewel of your city, and I recommend you support
that not just in this, but the hall is beautiful. They're amazing. Is it going to be there at the
AT&T Performing Arts Center, like it was last time? Yes, but it's now, it used to be called the
Dallas City Performance Hall. It's now called the Moody Performance Hall. It's a very nice,
same place, beautiful, gorgeous room. Yes, yes. And it's one of those rooms that you walk into,
and you're just like, I don't even have to say anything. I know the acoustics in this room
are going to be amazing, because the way it's structured, it's gorgeous, it's beautiful to
sit and experience this in. And what I love about this is it kind of works on two levels,
because I'm a techie geek. So getting to hear them perform your score, because I definitely
want to get into that here in a minute. But the execution of said score is also fascinating,
because for those of you that have never seen anything like this, the conductor is not just
making sure the music's there. The conductor actually has the movie on a laptop in front of him
with a piece of software that helps him make sure that the music is matching what's going
on in the film. So he's actually a little bit ahead. So he can make sure that when the sound
carries out, that it syncs up with the music or with the movie that the people are watching,
which is even more fascinating to me. Because it's just like, and he's got a little,
it's like a little, that comes on the, on the, on the, on the screen everyone's going to,
so he can make sure whether he knows he has to, to speed up, to catch it or slow down to get
back to it. And that to me is fascinating. Now, as the person that's composed it, but not conducting
it, what is that dynamic like for you in that moment? It's very exhilarating because I know where we
are, you know, if we're ahead or behind, just going on the last one. And the amount of focus
that it takes Richard is insane. I couldn't do it. I like, I'm just in awe of his talent.
And he guides that ship so perfectly. Yeah. So he, yes, he does have these little,
the, there are these visual pops. And then these little lines that come across that are called
streamers that just to show like when a certain scene is changing or something's happening.
And it's incredible to, to navigate the ship through all that with tempo changes and meter
changes and everything and keep everything very, very close in sync.
So let's talk a little bit about this because do we say what the film's going to be? I don't think we
do. And can we back up and say that that Douglas is not just any composer. He is an actual film
composer. He composes works for new films and has a film that just came out on
Netflix on Friday. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah. Plug it, man. We're all about straight
myself promotion. Okay. Super fun, gore fest or comedy called the babysitter directed by McGee.
It's I saw the trailer for this. First of all, big McG fan. But I saw the trailer for this.
This movie is creepy. Okay. This movie freaks me out when I saw the trailer because here's the
thing. It's about a kid. Well, I mean, the trailer is out there. I don't want to give everything away.
But here's a kid and he's got the kind of hot babysitter that you have when you are a kid.
And mom leaves him with the babysitter and he's all freaked out because of the babysitter.
And then it all goes horribly wrong. That's all I'm saying.
It's the trailer is hilarious. Yeah. You can't
this film you will smile away.
But watching the trailer to this, there are certain things that I was just like,
that was just a blatant shot at the genre. Like towards the end of the trailer,
at one point, he's addressing three different people. And he says something about one of them.
That's all I'm saying. Like, that's a blatant shot at the genre. And even though I hate horror films,
I'm like, that's funny. I don't care who you are. So how can you hate horror films? I have a
policy. I live by a code. I refuse to pay someone to try to make me pee on myself. That's just,
is how I live. So this, this movie is really fun. But again, a huge big
thing. You might pee on yourself. It'll be from left. Okay. I'll take that.
A friend's Netflix account got mixed up with his sons. And the film showed up in the
sons plate. Oh dear. Oh dear. Luckily daddy caught it first and they were able to get a hold,
but apparently half his step ended up on his son's account and half of the son's stuff. And the
son's like four or five. Oh, so he had, you know, door of the explorer and stuff and all this
thing. And the baby sitter in a world. And I've pulled up the IMD b page for our delightful guest
Douglas pipes. Thank you. Good photo. Good photo. Good choice.
So speaking of films and movies and and and music in films, we talked about baby driver
last weekend. Yeah. This past Wednesday was the 14th wedding anniversary of myself in the
lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin. And she got me the baby driver Blu-ray time. But let's,
let's get back to this thing. He did Monster House. And I loved it. Oh, great film. That's very
underrated film in my opinion. Oh, it's loved it. And so yeah, sorry. That was really his first,
it's such a cool story. Do we have time to tell this? You got all the time. You got this. This is
y'all's time. I got plenty of material for whatever's left over. Don't worry about that.
Tell that story. It's very cool. So I was, I had started scoring some films and wasn't really
proud of my work and went back to the university to, or went to university to study film scoring and
sorry to study composition and orchestration and become a, you know, a learning composer,
at least I know what I'm doing. Or try to know. Or make it look like, I don't make it look like I
know what I'm doing. Make it till you make it. Yeah, in all seriousness, I didn't want to be
a composer that didn't understand how to write for the instruments I was writing for.
Okay. And so I went to school to study just classical music composition and orchestration. And then
when that was done, I wanted to get back into film scoring and I started scoring student films.
And I scored a student film for a filmmaker at UCLA, Gil Kenan. And his student film got him the
attention of Robert Semeckas and Steven Spielberg, who gave him the opportunity to score a monster
house. And he did the unthinkable, which was to hire an unknown composer on his 100 million dollar
movie. Wow. And I scored monstrous. And a great film. I get very underrated. Yeah, speaking of
of scores this week, John Carpenter is actually doing an anthology of all the movie themes he did
between 74 and 98. Oh, that'll be releasing this week. And speaking of John Carpenter,
we'll go ahead and cover this now because it's about to score. You know, he's rebooting Halloween.
And he's going to do the score for the reboot too. Oh, wow. So yeah, pretty awesome. He has to
make some sense. Well, I mean, but the continuity on that whole franchise is so out of whack.
But so let's talk about this thing coming Tuesday night. Yes. Can we talk about the movie now?
Yes. Okay. Kelly, I'm going to let you take it. Okay. Okay. So it is Buster Keaton's,
probably one of his very best films from 1926, 27, 27. It's called The General.
And this is a man who loves trains. I mean, like loves trains. Like when I first heard
Sheldon, 1926, 1926, when I first heard Sheldon Cooper on on Big Bang Theory talking about loving
trains, I thought of Buster Keaton. And I was like, oh, my gosh, he's a reincarnated Buster Keaton.
I mean, he loves his train. And this is based on a true story. And it's set during the Civil War,
but really has nothing to do with the Civil War. It's just him, his train, and his girl.
And that is the focus of the story. The official IMDB synopsis is when Union spy steal an
engineer's beloved locomotive. He pursues it single-handedly and straight through enemy line.
Yes. And it's based on a true story. And anyway, so has nothing to do politically with anything.
It's an underdog story. And he rises to the occasion to not only save his train, but also get
the girl. Oh, did I just do a spoiler alert? Spoiler alert for 1926.
I think that one. And I will say for some, they're going to know the name Buster Keaton from when
Johnny Depp did Biny and June. Yeah. Buster Keaton was one of the ones he studied to do,
like where he takes the forks and the dinner rolls. That's kind of a Keaton-esque thing.
And Buster Keaton is actually the inspiration for Michael Keaton because Michael Keaton's actual
name is Michael Douglas. And he couldn't go by any Michael Douglas because there was already a
Michael Douglas in SAG. So he took the last name of Keaton because he looked up to Buster Keaton as
well. The film runs about an hour or so. I think it's 78 minutes. Okay, so you've got the 78
minute cut of it because there's yeah, the 24 FPS version. So do you get to pick the films or
are the films picked for you? No, they choose the film and then say just they when they approach
me they said this is the film we'd like to do. And of course, yeah, they want to do.
Did you go back? I mean, when you're trying to reinvent a score because that's really kind of what
you do. You're kind of reinventing it a little bit. Do you go back and watch the film on mute?
Or do you go back and watch it with the score that was attached to it? Does that convoluted it
all for you? So there are there are multiple versions that have been done since it came out
that have music attached to it. And the one that I had heard was fairly recent.
And I watched a little bit of that, but I didn't want to watch too much of you know, get too much
of it. But I did listen to that take and then I did some other research on just how it's been
approached. And I had a discussion with Brian Satterwhite who is the I would say the curator of
the film side of this series. And we talked about maybe taking a different approach than what has
been done so far, which is using a lot of the sort of silver patriotic thematic music. So in this
case, we're not going down that road. We're going down more down a road of bringing it into
Buster Keaton's character. It's his story of bravery of getting back his train and his woman.
And there are patriotic, I'm not going to say patriotic, there are themes of civic pride. So
there are themes of love and civic pride and adventure and bravery and heroics. But they're all
brought into the context of Buster Keaton's civic world right there, not the perspective of the
Civil War. How much did you know about the film going into it? Zero. So this was completely cold for
you. So I totally lost my train of thought because that kind of blew my wheels off.
So when you watch the like how long did it take you really kind of formulate your plan once you
did watch the film because you said you had a no more abbreviated time for it. How long did you
have to write the score? Five weeks. And so and just to give a sense of that, that's not even
five weeks of writing. That's five weeks of delivering and to deliver a score on paper with parts
and everything that needs to happen. I may have sketched the whole head to sketch the whole thing
out in two weeks and then start executing the orchestration of that. And I have a very talented
collaborator that I worked with John Clement Wood. We worked nonstop for the last five weeks just to
make this hit. So to answer your question, very little time like make decisions, those are the
decisions that's the path. Go. And here we are. So you're here now. Yes. Where are you from?
Los Angeles. Okay, so you so you're now two hours ahead of time. So you're probably a little thrown
off. Go to the hotel and sleep for about 18 hours get caught up. Are you going to sit in on the
rehearsals or will you wait until the film Tuesday night to really hear what they've come up with?
I'm going to go to the rehearsals and it's mostly just to if there are any questions about the
score, if there are any things that the interpretation is not completely defined, hopefully it is,
but in such a case, this has happened so fast, there could be something that goes, hey, there's
not a marking here telling us exactly how loud you want this to be played. And then I mean even
Mary Poppins was only practically perfect. Only because Michael Rooker is now associated with it.
When they rehearse, I'm mostly there to answer questions that they have, but Richard guides the
rehearsal and executes the performance. And can I say that when they rehearse, they do not rehearse
with the film playing. Isn't that correct? With the ones I've seen, they rehearse in the rehearsal hall
and they really never see the film. Well, the only one that I went to on the larger, we rehearsed
not at the hall in a different space and maybe because the hall was being used that day. Yeah,
but the first rehearsal is less focus on synchronizing, more focus on just reading to the music,
getting the musicality of it down. And then on the dress rehearsal, I think they did a sink run through.
Right. Well, but the people playing the music never see the film. They are sitting in front,
right? Right. And not in front of it where you can't, where it's like, oh, there's people sitting
in front of the... Down in front! I can't see! Down in front! No, it's not like it. There's a screen
above the orchestra, although that would be absolutely hilarious. The bottom of the screen is above
their head. That would be genius. That'd be a whole other experience. There's some movies that
might work for. From a score standpoint, are there any moments that are in the score as you've
written it that you're like, this is a beat that has to hit for a certain impact? Or is it just
kind of like, I'm happy with it as a whole and as long as it flows like it's supposed to. I'm okay.
Yeah. So I specifically didn't try to hit very specific hit points because there are
chances that it doesn't hit. So musically, it's more phrases that will come to a close in the
general time that they should come to a close. So if you're watching it and say the scene is
changing it, if it were to, you know, to start making it change a beat earlier or a beat later,
you wouldn't think of it. But as opposed to, you know, when I, when I can fire as I'm not making
a simple crash or something like that, that would be very hard to hit. What artists are in heavy
rotation with you right now that you're listening to? I wish I had time. I mean, I know you're on
a bit of a time schedule. No, no, he's been, he's been playing his own music for some time to listen
to music. Oh, I see. Oh, let me rephrase the question because every composer gets asked this
question because it's the standard question. Who influences you? My main film music influences
are Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams and Bernard. He has good taste. Nothing wrong with that.
I've, my sister was musical theater opera, all of that. So I've been around and I've worked with
symphonies and orchestras and things like that. But this is my first getting to interact with a
composer, especially a composer of any actual notability. And I'm wondering how much ownership
in the music is, is yours? Are you okay if things get tweaked or you're just going to kind of
be sitting there? You keep it to yourself, but you're going to be like, Oh, I really didn't like that.
I didn't. Or you just like hearing how people interpret it and it's, it's better because of other
opinions being added to it. So that's a great question. And in there are two contexts for this. So in a
not in this case, which is a silent film where there, there's no director to answer to.
Let me answer that one second. In a, in a film that's being made right now, I'm there to service
other people's vision of a story well down the line. So I'll play demos at music or as we're
creating go through the process and have to be completely open minded to anything that wants,
anything that the filmmakers want to do. And it might be, hey, let's tweak this. It might be,
let's go down a different path. Nothing can be so precious that what I'm creating is someone
else is enhancing someone else's story and vision. So I'm just in the service of the director.
In this case, now we're at a place where none of the, none of that process exists. So we're
have to play it and we go through and refine. And now that's what we're doing. There's a score
created. They're going to rehearse it. But I'm also very open to if we get to the rehearsal and
discussion comes that says, hey, maybe what if we were to approach this slightly different?
And if the idea makes sense, I'm 100% open to that. And that, my guess that might, well, that
might just be either an idiomatic approach. Okay, we're playing this. Can we have a little
beat or do something a little different here? Or it might be a suggestion of, hey, what if we
approached playing this a little more forcefully or a little pulled back just because of now when
we hear them all playing together, it would blend better this way. All those, all those discussions
completely open to. And for those of you that don't know, Keaton also co-directed the film
with Clyde Buckman, a Brockman, I apologize, I can't read that. And they both co-wrote it as well. So
a film of this magnitude, I mean, this is one of those films that if you are a student of film,
you know this film. Does that weigh on you at all as you're writing the score? Or is it you,
are you just approaching it from the standpoint of, look, this is a thing that I'm going to do and
we're just going to do it? If I had more time, it would freak me out. I didn't have time to freak
out. I love it on a stancer. That's all we ask for on this show. So
maybe if I knew what I was getting into, I would have had a longer freak out period, but I didn't
have time to do that. Who is out there right now that you are just dying to work with?
I get asked that question and I don't have a great answer for that. There are stylistically,
I'd rather go down that approach and we've talked about this before, but I have done, you know,
a lot of horror and horror comedy and some other dramatic films, but I would like to do a sci-fi
movie. I'd like to do, you know, every composer would like to do all different styles. What happens is
you do something and then if it works, people making a film in a similar nature genre, they go,
oh, that person knows how to work in this genre. Let's hire that person and it's hard to
You don't want to get pigeonholed? Yes, and it's hard for people to say, well, okay, so if
he'd never scored a film before and he did this one well, it just was the luck of the draw that
that was the genre. So hopefully there will be more opportunities for someone to say,
hey, I really value his approach to storytelling musically. Let's use it in this instance
because it's all the same. If DCS came to you and said, we want you to do the next film, but we want
you to pick it. I would do research, I don't have a research, it's not the name of a film.
Research is the verb. Yes, the verb, not a noun. That's a fair question. I mean, it's a
fair answer. Like I just said, all we have to do on this show is honesty and honesty is a good thing.
Do you take a lot of time to watch film or are you just working so much you just don't have time to
do anything anymore? Because being that busy is a good thing. Well, I actually spend more of my
arts time going to live music performances. I subscribe to the LA Phil. Nice.
And that's sort of where I go back to the deep well of inspiration.
So I do watch films, but not as much as some of the people.
There's a lot going on now. Let's just say, if you get a chance to see Baby Driver, at least
the opening 20, 30 minutes to see what they did with the music, because the music in it,
he granted it wasn't done composer style. It was pieces of music pulled that had been already
out there, but the music itself becomes a character. It is part of the story. Yeah, Edgar Wright uses
the music to choreograph the chase scenes. And it's, it's, she's right, it's absolute brilliance.
And then there's another scene where he goes to get the cup of coffee and like the art on the walls
actually starts moving and flowing with the song. And you'll see where, you know, unlike posters and
stuff, it's Edgar Wright did an amazing job of that. Just, just for those little pieces,
that might be something you could enjoy knowing your interest in composing. Oh, yeah, definitely.
And I, I know not to, not to that degree, but I do know a little bit of what's happening with
the music in that. And I, it's on my list. Yeah, it's, it's one of those films that I had high
expectation going into. And it was higher when I got out of it. Wow. And there's some deep cuts in
there too, where you're just like, wow, this, this had to have been like Edgar Wright going, okay,
if I was just pick, tell me your favorite songs and see if I can work them into a film.
Because we talked about a couple of weeks ago, there's a deep cut from young MC's first album.
That's in there. And I was like, I thought I was the only person in the room that knew that song.
Cool. You know, so I know that you're probably going to want to get some rest. You've been running
this strong all day. But before we, you're more looking to stick around and hang out if you want to,
if you want to, because we got some other stuff we want to cover. But before we even get to

approach it with the idea that it's a horror movie. It's not really a horror movie. It's more of a
and the baby sitter you can watch right now on Netflix. Oh, that's a definite right now. In fact,
what not right now? Listen to the show. And then you can listen and watch that. And you can get it
on your phones. You can do these in back-to-back moments. And I'll be doing Monster House this this

So when the larger played, it's in a concert hall. And I'm in concert frame of mind.
And the movie's playing, the concert starts. And there was a nice pre concert lobby reception
people have drinks and socializing and such. And when the concert started within the first 60
seconds, you know, a minute and a half, maybe some people got up and walked out. And I am thinking,
oh my gosh, this is terrible. They hate the music. Well, they were just going to the bathroom.
Which at a classical concert, no one would do. No, that wouldn't happen. But this was a movie.
Oh, and it came to see a movie. And I'm sure someone thought, like, what should it do now?
Because it's 90 minutes. I'm going to go get it out of the way and back and I'll catch up.
And it's the internal debate of all of a sudden you realize, wait, there's no intermission.
Yeah. When do I do this? That I'm like, well, I guess, do I do it now? Do I do it?
And it took them about a minute to build up the door. So, you know, not knowing that the composer was
right there. Because had they realized that they would have been digging in their purse for tissues
and tried another route or something. I was, they were relieved, but I was relieved.
Well said, well said. So Tuesday night, eight o'clock. Yes. You can get tickets at the website.

through a touchdown pass in the NFL to another Harvard grad. And boy, they could not say that
enough during the game. You know what? If you want to coin a phrase, he said, I want to remember
who is announcing the game, but he said the word the Harvard connection about 140 times. Look,
dude, it's not going to stick deal with it. I'm saying fight through it. We are actually going
to skip P.O.I tonight because P.O.I is actually going to work into the list. And so in order
for us to stay on pace with everything, we are going to go right into in memoriam
only one this week, but it is a big one passing away this week at the age of 90 and NFL legend.
If you know the name, why a title? He was a quarterback played for the Niners, the Giants,
and the Colts after two seasons with the Colts back in the all America football conference.
He was one of the like there's a very famous picture of him sitting on the sideline,
which is blood running down his face. He went to LSU. He was a two time all SEC quarterback.
As a junior, he was the MVP of the 1947 Cottonball Classic, which that in the in college was known
as the ice bowl. Of course, we talked about the NFL ice bowl last weekend.
Hopefully you guys listen to that show. If not, go back and listen to that because there's a very
important back toy that you need to know about if you live in the Dallas, Fort Worth area and have
some old Cowboys footage. So go back and listen to that. In 1947,
Tittle was drafted to the Detroit Lions, but he chose to play for the Colts instead. He was the
rookie of the year in 1948. I mean, this guy did it all. He's from right outside of where we are
from Marshall, Texas, out there on the east side, and lived in 90. Seven time pro bowler first,
four time first team all pro AP NFL most valuable player in 1963, led the NFL in touchdowns three times
as a passer rating leader in 1963 as a co holds the record for most touchdown passes in a game with
seven. Oh, wow. He's in the Niners Hall of Fame. He's in the Giants ring of honor. His number
14 with the Giants has been retired. He is also a two time first team all SEC player and he is
also a member of the pro football Hall of Fame as he should be. So our deepest sympathies go out to

Cali put the cruiserweight belt on Calisto Monday night, which I thought was a very interesting move
that they didn't wait till the pay-per-view and they didn't wait till 205 live. They just put them
on on Raw. But there are some things working with 205 live that we're going to talk about here

Last week we talked about a impact wrestling channel, but it's just whatever's there.
With the global wrestling network for $7.99 a month, you'll be able to get all TNA and
impact pay-per-views TNA explosion, which is there was their version of impact overseas.
TNA epics, TNA legends, the inside impact series, British bootcamp, which is a reality show
that they did overseas as well. Scotty Demors, Border City wrestling, Aaron Weiss as pro-wrestling
superstars, pay-per-views, Canadian independent promotion, smash wrestling and wrestling at the
chase, which is an old St. Louis territory. I don't know if that's enough to make me want it.
You tell me I can get new episodes of Impact we can talk. Because I still, I don't have pop TV,
I can't watch it. So that's why your project sucks because I can't watch it.

Dropping out of the top 10 this week, battle the sexist drops from 10 to 13, also known as iTunes
exclusive 319, 1.375 million dollars, four weeks, 10.4 million. I don't have a budget on that.
Flatliners. The jokes abound because it came out last weekend. And it's already dropped from
9 to 12, 1.5 million dollars, three weeks, 15.6 million dollars, 19 million dollar budget. You do
a horror film and you can't make budget. This remake was a bad idea to begin with.
How did it even start at nine? I mean, that's, I'm, yeah.
Let's see. Victoria and Ab Duel drops from 8 to 10 this week with the Judy Dench.
$3.1 million, four weeks, 11.3 million dollars. We do want to send a shout out to friends of
the show, the movie brothers. They actually have a review up right now for Marshall. That debut is
an 11th place this week with $3 million, $12 million dollar budget. So go check out their review

earlier, Professor Marston and the wonder women that debuted in 14th place in very limited release.
And $737,000. And there's some information. One of the granddaughters is speaking out on that and how it

told her if she'd had relations with the woman and so much. I realized there were some liberties in it.
Like the when the burning happened versus when he passed away. Right. Because I mean, by this
point, we all know he has passed. That's not really a spoiler. So there was some licensing taken. But
yeah, there's still some debate going on about how much of it is true versus just based on rumor.
And so I always based on the true story. Yeah. From dropping from four to nine this week is my
little pony, the movie, another $4 million, $2 weeks, $15.5 million. The Lego Ninjago movie drops
from seven to eight this week, $4.3 million, $4 weeks, $51.6 million. King's been the golden
circle drops from five to seven, another $5.3 million, $4 weeks, $89.7 million, $104 million
budget. This is going to have to make up some money on home release. Yeah. American maid stays in
sixth place this week, $5.4 million, $3 weeks, $40.2 million on a $50 million budget. The new Idris
Elba film, the mountain between us, $5.6 million, it drops from two to five, two weeks, 20.5,
I believe the movie brothers have a review up for that as well. They've been doing a lot of work
lately. It drops from three to four this week, another $6 million, six weeks, $314.9 million.
And I still say Kelly doesn't have to go see it. 35 million dollar budget on this, by the way.
Well, it horror. Yeah. And October. But Steven King film, $35 million, that's an impressive
budget. The foreigner debuts in the bronze medal this week, $12.8 million. That's a $35 million
budget. So respectful opening. Blade Runner 2049 wins last weekend, drops to the silver medal,
this weekend, $15.1 million, $2 weeks, $60.6 million. This is a $150 million budget.
It's a movie people were waiting for. Not enough to make money, because you're $90 million
dollars from budget, much less promotion. But to be silver in its second week only one last
weekend, but it was when competing against much. That's true. You know, and happy death day wins
the weekend, $4.8 million dollar budget on this thing, made $26.5 million. The cheaper the budget,
the bigger the scar, and even then I'm being told I'm seeing other people. Yes, we have ours up,
and when I see other people's comments, I'm like, did you hear our podcast on it?
That's one thing that strikes me nuts. Does anybody know? Dude, I actually said to people,
if only there was a way you could hear people whose opinions you trust talk about films.
Well, and some of this is family that are out of state, and they haven't caught on that I'm
on a podcast yet. You know, give them a chance to catch up. I'm getting them there. Get on the
train, man. I'm getting Missouri and Kansas on board with this, okay? It's. What's up, middle America?
I'm a fan. I do love my family. Go Harvey's, Russia's, Rome's, all that good stuff.
But they're saying, you know, it's not a big scare fast, but it is an enjoyable. Don enjoyed it.

If you're not, get a hold of them for a screening in your area because this is a very important
film that tackles a very important subject in bipolar disorder that it's real. It's not glamorized
at all. This thing is absolutely real. You need to see this film. So go check out Donovan this
Thursday at the look theater in Addison. And B, you know I love your brother and I'm going to do
everything I can to get the the Empire motivated on this for you. A Stallone is going to direct
Creed 2. And it will involve Creed fighting the son of Ivan Drago. And Lundren is going to be in it.
I'm sorry. Can you contain your excitement? I think I think you've had a new level of overjoyed.
See I have very fun memories of Rocky IV because one of my closest friends in the entire world
in my entire life, Brian Burnin and I went and saw this together when we were, I want to say seventh grade
at the Coral Square Cinema. And the audience was just on fire in this film. And in the final fight
at the end, they're introducing Ivan Drago. And I remember the guy in front of me yelling,
go home. And I was like, there's fights in Moscow. He kind of is all much. Am I the only one?
But we can't all be intelligent. It's just like leave Creed where it is. It's such a great film.
And I don't want to get ruined by a sequel that is completely entirely unnecessary.
Yeah. Make another expendables. The Cheney movie. I'll be part about this that's coming out
very, very soon. This thing has an all-star cast. Let me pull this up for you because there's
a very interesting casting that was put out here this week. Why am I? Oh, I just had it.

Adam McKay is directing this. My Christian Bale was playing Dick Cheney.
Amy Adams playing his wife, Alison Pill is in this Steve Carell is in this Sam Rockwall is in
this Bill Pullman. But announced this week playing Colin Powell will be one Tyler Perry.
So this ought to be interesting. And we have Gambit news. It will be released on Valentine's Day 2019.

Very interesting. Only the brave releases this week. This is a movie about a true story of
firefighters and wildfires. By the way, from the we all in the center are thoughts out of the people
caught up in the California wildfires. The home of Charles Schultz was caught up in a wildfire.
Yes. And incredible monsters just had to put their October plans on hold. And they're actually
not working right now. The staff and things because several of them are being impacted by this
as well too. Because this is a thing. Tyler Perry's Boo Amadea Halloween too. Oh, yeah.
Releases this week. So good luck with all that. Hey, next year I'll be watching it on my couch
on Netflix with a big bottle of vodka. I will not be stopping by that today.

Also this week a movie called Same Kind of Different is Me. This is international art dealer
Rod Hall must be friend of dangerous homeless man in order to save his struggling marriage to his
wife because he'd be struggling marriage to somebody else. A woman whose dreams will lead all
three of them on the journey of their lives. Renee Selweger, John Voigt, Demon Hansu, Greg Keneer,
Olivia Holt all in this. Also this week in a theater near you, the killing of a sacred deer.
This is one. I keep missing the ability to screen this. It's kind of artsy. Alicia Silverstone
and Nicole Kidman are in this. Steven, a charismatic surgeon is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice
after his life starts to fall apart when the behavior of a teenage boy he's taken under his
wing turned sinister. So you're talking Colin Farrell also in this bill camp, a great actor who
was we recently saw in the only living boy in New York as well. Let's see leather face because
we're getting ready for Halloween. So the origin story of leather face in case you've been waiting
for that. Another movie called Jungle that's getting a little bit of press but not a whole heck of a
lot. If I remember correctly, Daniel Radcliffe is in this. So if you want to reheze again, a group of
friends joins a guide for a trek into the Bolivian jungle searching for an Indian village. The men
soon realize that jungle is a difficult place to be. Did you not know going in? It's called the
jungle. Tell them say it. Wonderstruck, this film looks really, really interesting. Talk to a
friend of ours in the press corps who actually got to screen this and she's like, she enjoyed it
but she wanted more of from it. Basically, this is two different stories in two different time frames
that tend to overlap. Traylor looks interesting. Julianne Moore is in this. Corrie Michael Smith, Damian
Young. John P. Guinty is in this. I don't know if you've heard of this. This looks kind of crazy.
We've been offered the opportunity to screen this and I don't know if I'm going to have a time
but I'm going to try. This is a Josh Hutchinson is in Hutchinson is in this. Tragedy girls is a
twist on the slasher genre following two death obsessed teenage girls who use their online show
about real life tragedies to send their small wood western town into a frenzy and cement their
legacy as modern horror legends. And you want to see this? It looks interesting but it really
looks creepy too. Yeah. And a movie, I've got this movie I'm really interested in. You want to
see a great trailer. Look up, killing Gunter. This is a mockumentary, a gunther, I'm sorry.
This was written and directed by one of my favorite comedic actors in Terran Killam
who is also married to the Colby Smolders. If you're a fan of the How I Met Your Mother.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Colby Smolders, Hannah Simone, Alison Tolman, Terran Killam, Bobby Moynihan,
Alex Duncan, Steve Batchick, back, backic. Okay, to Batchick. Batchick. Scott McNeil,
this is a mockumentary where a group of eccentric assassins are fed up with Schwarzenegger's
hair named Gunther. He's the world's greatest hitman and decided to kill him. But they do so by
basically holding hostage at documentary crew. This movie looks brilliant. Yeah. I saw the trailer
on IMDB and I was like, I don't know, I got to find this film because it looks great. Yeah.
DVD and Blue Right New releases in places you get DVD and Blue Right New releases this week,
Spider-Man Homecoming, available for you this week. We've seen that.
So I'm saying let's see Girls Trip, which made a ton of money at the box office. The movie
brothers do have a review up for that as well. The newest version of Lady McBeth looks kind of artsy.
Not a huge fan. A movie called Landline that was out recently,
based about a family and infidelity and things about nature. The Midwife, which is a film
that was out earlier this year, it had a very, very limited run. Let me give you a
Katherine Denow is in this.
And Midwife gets unexpected news from her father's old mistress.
Yeah.
And the criterion collection this week does very
linden classic film and Twin Peaks Firewalk with me.
So nothing really big in tech talk this week, not a lot going on.
Yeah, we're a little bit away from the what you're going to buy for Christmas.
Yeah, we're getting close. Yeah, we're getting close to save up those pennies.
Because we're a couple of weeks away from the release of the Xbox X one thing,
one X or whatever they're calling it. Yeah, I think it's the Xbox one X,
I think it's the actual name of it. Some.
All right, so let's get to the list. We landed every show with a list and I said that we were
skipping POI because POI is going to overlap with the list. Okay. I have found something recently.
And I don't want to say I'm obsessed with it, but I am enjoying its fine work. Okay.
The wife and I are on kind of a commitment to spend less money, not go out to eat as much,
kind of, you know, get our finances in order. That's an honor. And part of doing that is
I'm getting like frozen on trays to take to work, especially for breakfast. Lunch gets a little
difficult, but especially for breakfast. And I'm a kind of person that I don't limit myself to
what the traditional definition of breakfast is. It's food in the morning. Exactly. I'll have an
energy drink. Might have a piece of fresh fruit with it because I love fresh fruit very much.
But there's this new brand of frozen on tray called devour.
Okay. I'm googling while you're talking. And I wrote frozen breakfast. First thing, devour.
Frozen meals. You want to fork devour devour. I try that again. devour-foods.com.
It's the website. And I've been, they have a, I mean, let me look at the website here. Give you an exact
number. Three, six, nine, 12. There are 14 different on trays that they offer.
Right now I get to Kruger. If you're a Kruger plus card, you get three for nine.
It's a pretty good price, you know. So I've put together, I have not tried all of them.
But of the ones I have tried, there's only one that I wasn't a huge fan of because the side that
came with it was sweet potatoes. And, you know, I'm not a fan of the sweet potato. Yeah.
But I've put together my top 10 favorites that I've tried so far because these are amazing.
Because it's not like your normal like frozen
on tray fare. No, this is white cheddar mac and cheese. But they don't, don't go through it yet
because I got to do the list, dude. Okay. Number 10 is the sweet and tangy pulled pork.
Very much enjoy its fine work.
Number nine, the bacon topped turkey with garlic sauce comes with a a smattering of dressing.
This would be higher on the list if there were more dressing involved. Just saying that.
A number eight, the white cheddar mac and cheese with bacon because America, let's be honest.
Number seven, the tortellini alfredo with Italian sausage. This would be higher on the list
if there was more sausage involved. There's just like a little two or three little meatballs of sausage.
I was like, come on, you can do better than this.
And number six, and this is a thing, bacon topped meatloaf with spicy ketchup.
This comes with a side of mashed potatoes. The first time I saw this, I was like,
you know, I don't do spicy. But it's not a real spice. It's not like a,
what's the thing that people are doing right now? It's not a sriracha ketchup. It's just got a
little kick to it. Kind of like a water burger spicy ketchup. It's there, but it's not that spicy.
Very much, and I'm not a big meatloaf fan, but I enjoyed this.
Number five, the sweet and smoky angus beef. This comes with a corn hash type thing
that I'm a big fan of. Number four, the Italian style lasagna does not come with a side because
it doesn't even one. It's lasagna, and it takes up the full pan that you, that you're nuking
in my, and the average nuk time from start to finish about five minutes. You do it for a couple
of minutes, you mix it up, you do it for a couple more minutes. Number three, and this,
there's a reason that this is not higher on the list because you're going to hear me say what
this is, and you're going to go Rob, how is this only the bronze medal winner? Because this is two
of my favorite things in the world put together. Now we did a list once, or I listed my 10 favorite
things period food wise. The first half of this was the number one item on that list.
But then when you combine it with the other half of this item, it's a completely different
level. Chicken, cordon, blue, mac, and cheese. This is what brought me to devour. I saw this in
the freezer after I'd seen a couple of commercials on TV, and I was like, I don't know what this is,
but it's in the cart right now. Needs more chicken. Put a little bit more chicken in it, maybe a
little bit stronger of a Swiss flavor, you might have me. That might, that might push it to the top
I'm just saying. Number two, they also do a buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Why this is not number one,
not enough blue cheese in it. Because you have to have it with blue cheese the way God intended it.
And number one, and this is going to surprise people that I put this number one on the list.
The chicken enchiladas suiza. Their recipe for chicken enchiladas is the best frozen chicken enchiladas
I've ever had in my life. Bar none. I don't know what they do differently. Now there's a couple other
ones here that I haven't tried. I have not tried the pulled chicken burrito bowl because I have not seen
it. And the pesto ravioli with spicy Italian sausage. I'm not a big pesto guy. So I don't know that I
want to invest in that unless my wife did at the grocery store today, which she may have because she
went grocery shopping today. But I would really, and I'm not we're not being endorsed by this company.
We are not, you know, we're not getting a check cut. We live in a world where there's a lot of
choices out there and there's a lot of crappy choices out there, especially in the frozen food
section. These things deliver. I am a huge and they're not, I mean, they're decent sized portions.
They're not huge portions, but they're not tiny portions. I mean, you'd want to some of them come
with a side. I still might want to have something with it. But high quality and everything I've had
there outside of the sweet potatoes, because you know, I don't like sweet potatoes. Well, I mean,
and even if you do something like this, you can always make yourself a small side salad. Yep.
Fan of the salad. Yeah. I mean, some of these would even layer on top of the salad.
Hook me up with a nice French dressing or a nice Italian dressing or a nice thousand island,
little blue cheese. I'm good. Yeah. Maybe some decent, I don't want the big croutons,
but they'll eat big croutons. I'm good with that. We're bacon bits.
It's like Jim Gaffigan once said that bacon is like the fairy dust of food versus the salad.
And now it's a meal because I put bacon, and then you played hide the bacon bits in this,
find the bacon bits in the salad. Yeah, no, no. With me, it's the bacon bit is usually bigger than
the crouton devour dot dash foods dot com. I'm telling you, again, we're not being paid by these
people. It's really good stuff. Just like we weren't given a check by the people at Milk Splash,
God rest its soul. I was very upset when they shut Milk Splash down.

That'd be nice for our budgets because I do the budget thing too. I tend to make my own. Of course,

mine because I put pumpkin better in it. For the love of God, that's an American. That's
like double communism. It's oatmeal and it's pumpkin. But my doctors really pleased with my
cholesterol level. Well, I happen to like the pumpkin butter. Why ruin something as wonderful as
butter? Because it's not actually butter. Can you believe it's not butter? It's not a dairy
product. It's not made with milk. It's totally just completely just lost yourself on that great
reference that I just did. No, I was ignoring the reference you just did. That could be a great
reference right there. It's kind of like the apple butter. I mean, you're familiar with apple
butter. Not a huge fan of the apple butter. But this is pumpkin of the same thing. So it's,
you know, not an apple sauce. It's not a pumpkin sauce. It's pumpkin butter. And I don't expect
you to like it. And I would never bring you any because you've made it clear. You don't care
