It is 7-1 on the east coast.
It is 401 on the west coast.
It is the first of October in the year of our Lord 2017, and if you didn't say it this morning, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.
Q4 is underway.
Season 8, episode 12, 415 times.
This voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse Podcast.
Welcome.
My name is Rob.
I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse Podcast, and you really can't take me anywhere, because if I'm wearing a white t-shirt, salsa will get on it.
It's just the Murphy's Law of my wardrobe.
Luckily, the shirt I'm wearing is an older shirt, and I can just wear it around the house, because it's been a heck of a weekend.
It's been a great weekend.
Got a chance to see some of our friends from Philadelphia this morning at the block church with our grand opening in our new facility.
Had a great time hung out with Pastor Joey who was in town, and I'm being told that they're going to be at the state fair tonight.
Up Texas, and that's going to come into play later, because it is the opening weekend.
But I'm not alone joining me across the desk is the Lady of the House, and she is prepared tonight, brother.
She is technologically inclined, she's general welcome friend.
Hello everyone.
And rounding out the days tonight is a man who is a man, and his manliness exudes in its own special way as far as he knows.
He is one of my favorite people in the world.
He is my road dog.
Hanging out with him is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time in the five minutes of it, I get a week.
He is Dave Scott, welcome back sir.
Oh, I can't wait to let you down after that intro.
I love Dave, I love his family.
Got to see almost all the kids this morning.
Yeah.
It's church.
Almost all the kids.
And Destiny actually came up to me on her own today.
How about it?
For a change, that was nice of her.
Nice.
But got to see Bubba and got to see Ashley was working with the kids.
That's why I couldn't think it was one of them was working with the kids.
Again, spoken very highly of by the way in that capacity.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Passed that along for me.
Don still on assignment down in Houston.
But he did send an email that he wanted me to read.
And it says hello all and empire members.
Well, isn't that kind of the same thing?
Maybe all refers to us, I guess.
The last week and a half has been a life changing experience to say the least.
I want to give a few thoughts and say a few words of my experience down here in Houston
while we process the disaster relief snaps.
Snap is temporary benefits like food stamps in Texas.
Don does work for the state.
First off, he wants to thank the fabulous faith forward for being so understanding
and for him being gone that he loves her very, very much and misses her more and more every day.
He will be home soon.
To me, he wants to thank me for being so understanding during his absence and sending off the reviews.
Not a problem brother.
That's what we're here for.
Did Jen Rome thanks in for stepping in and helping out in his absence and Chad being on assignment as well.
We don't call you for the lady of the house for nothing.
To his family, he loves you dearly and he wants to thank you for checking in on him
and ask how he's doing even though you do not get much of a reply from him.
To the rest of the crew, thank you for the thoughts and well wishes
and the same to the rest of the loyal empire members.
To everyone, thank you for just checking in on faith to see how she's doing.
It means a lot to him.
Believe it or not, the little texts of saying hello have meant a lot also.
I'll get coming.
Stop messing with me Yahoo News.
He's dealing with a technical moment.
It's driving me nuts.
There we go.
Now to my experience over roughly the low.
This is a long email over the last 10 days.
It's been hard beyond belief but I would not change it and I do it all over again.
I literally have not had a day off of works in Sunday September 17th
and my next scheduled day off is this coming Saturday October 7th.
We leave the hotel every morning a little after 7 a.m.
and we usually do not get back to the hotel until after 9 p.m. every day.
When we arrive at the mall every morning, the mall is there.
There's offices in a mall.
The line of people who are waiting has grown more and more every day.
For the last couple of days, the line literally circles the entire mall.
And that is even before we open at 8 a.m.
I'm also not counting the countless people who get in line after we open.
We have people getting in line as early as 2 a.m.
We are on average serving 9,000 families a day and that's just one of three sites
that we're doing in Harris County down there which is just one of 53 counties that have been affected.
He also wants to note that Thursday night about 6 p.m.
I started a rain outside and the people still waited outside in the rain because they need to help that much.
On the devastation, he sent some pictures to show but it barely describes what it's really like.
I cannot start to describe the smell and the bugs in some of these areas.
With the stagnant water and I'm sure what he's saying there.
The remnants of the waste water that are left added with the heat and the humidity
and the incredible amount of bugs in some of these areas, it will take years to recover.
I can just really describe what some of these neighborhoods are like and what it will take to recover.
I am on average processing and interviewing about 60 families a day.
Some of the stories I have heard I will never forget for the rest of my days.
One that truly sticks with him he says is that it was a 28 year old lady with two kids
whose husband passed away about a week before Hurricane Harvey and then when the storm came in
they ended up having six feet of water in their house and everything is gone.
And since he passed so close to the hurricane they had to keep...
I don't... the wording is this is weird and I don't want to say it that way
but they had to really kind of preserve him during the storm
because they didn't have proper... they couldn't have a proper funeral.
So imagine losing your spouse who is the income earner
and then losing literally everything you have to a flood a week later.
Not only can you imagine what the mother is going through but the two young kids as well.
Another young man showed him pictures of his house in four feet of water
and that was five days after.
And times like that the most basic of the essentials like dry clothes means so much
and he's seen pictures after pictures of damage from the people time after time.
So many times the people have teared up after having to account for the losses for the paperwork.
He says he's gotten choked up many times.
All he can do is look at them and give them that look that he understands
and he truly feels for your losses.
There have been many people who came in and truly did not want to apply but they had to
and when he tells them that it's okay to ask for help they look at him and give me that look that they understand
because they're doing it for their kids and loved ones.
So many times there have been situations where no words can be said
and they just look at each other and that's all that's needed.
He doesn't know how many times he's been told thank you for coming down to do this
and they also thank his wife for being so understanding in his absence.
He's gotten a few hugs from the lady you mentioned earlier
when she got the card giving her the ability to get food for her kids
because they automatically give them food signs for two months
once they're approved right on the spot.
And she had tears in her eyes and gave him a hug because that means so much.
He says when he told a few people when they get to the store
I just tell them that I just asked if they get some of their comfort foods for them
and their kids.
They get that look and that smile.
It means so much that he truly does care and people there to help them for their
time and the truly needed.
It means so much that they can go to the store and finally be able to get
something of comfort for themselves and their kids for the first time in over a month.
He says he said so many times to some of the families that it's okay every once in a
while to sit back and shed a tear.
But it's never okay to quit especially when you have kids and they appreciate
the words of encouragement.
He says even though the experience has been incredibly tough both physically and
emotionally but it's life changing in a good way.
He said it'll be back soon.
He loves us all and misses his wife very much and everyone else goodbye.
It's for now and love to you all.
And he says, he signs it Don I'm leading by about 15 for 15 points.
Von Don go forward.
Always got to take the shot at the end.
But Don keep doing what you're doing.
Please stay safe.
We're looking forward to having you home very very soon.
And thank you for what you're doing.
You know you embody the spirit of what this show is about and this is because
this show is about bringing joy to people and helping out where we can.
And you're doing it brother and we couldn't be more proud of you.
Just get home safely.
Russ is in the chat room says he's on vacation says hello to everybody as well.
Don when you get back I will have some.
Don't ask I'll just have them.
And Don it is such an honor to be a part of this journey with you.
And to get to be able to tell people, hey, I know this guy and this is what he's doing.
What are you doing?
It's kind of empowering and it's just kind of cool.
I know Don Ford.
Yep.
I mean, it's.
The dude's doing the deal.
You know, it's impressive.
I mean, it's just.
I'm so proud of that dude.
Like I said, he wasn't sent.
He volunteered.
Yeah, he was first one hands up.
What can I do?
How can I jump in?
And that's again, that's the embodiment of what this show is.
And given what this show proper has gone through in the last month and a half.
Yeah.
You know, it's.
It's kind of reinforced a lot of things about the core values of this show.
And the people involved in it.
You know, we always say that, you know, you can't just talk about it.
And we hope that's the kind of example that we set.
Don definitely doing so.
Oh, my.
You know, and you know, as soon as he hits that he gets back, he's going to hit the ground running.
Hopefully I'll take a moment to spend with Faith.
I know he will.
And Faith, know that we're thinking about you as well.
Thank you for holding down the fort.
You know, you can reach out to us at any point for any reason.
If you need anything, we can provide.
So don't just get home safe, brother.
Keep doing what you're doing to the people of Houston.
God bless all of you.
Houston.
You know, I mean, what they've been through.
It feels like they just went through it.
Just a few years ago and to deal with it again.
Yeah.
You know, the people in Puerto Rico are thoughts are with you.
You know, I have a lot of talk with friends about.
It's going to be years before Puerto Rico recovers.
And all of my friends in South Florida, they're still dealing with the fallout of Irma.
You know, just know that our thoughts are with you and we love all of you.
I mean, Katrina was a smaller and they're still.
Yeah.
It still isn't.
I mean, so imagine that magnified by what we had with these two and just wow.
All right.
So let's get this train out of the station, shall we?
We're going to start with NASCAR talk like we always do today.
From Dover International Speedway.
I think I just screwed this up.
It was the Apache Warrior 400 presented by Lucas Oil.
Your top 10 finishers finishing 10th, starting in 16th and the number two forward was Brad Keselowski.
Starting in 26th and finishing 9th in the number one Chevrolet, Jamie McMurray.
I just feel like I should say it like that because it's just, it's flow so well.
It does.
Buckingeers trying to win this game.
Oh, for those of you that aren't in here with us, we do have the TV back.
Yes, the TV is back in the studio.
So we can keep an eye on Britney breaking news.
So if Rob breaks off into football, I'll talk to you.
No, why?
In eighth place, starting in fifth place and finishing in eighth, number 19 Toyota.
Daniel Suarez.
Dale learned how junior back in a top 10 finish, starting in seventh, finishing in seventh and the number 88 Chevrolet.
Clint Boer.
Number 14, Ford starts in 19th, winds up in sixth.
Kyle Larson starts at the bronze medal position in the number 42 Chevrolet, winds up in fifth.
Martin Truex, Jr. led the pack when the race started, winds up in fourth and the number 78 Toyota.
Seven times, seven times, seven times, seven times, seven times, seven times, seven times, seven times, seven times.
Uh, whatever they're calling the monster cup now, by the way, Bucks win, Bucks win, Bucks win.
Martin Jimmy Johnson, the number 48 Chevrolet starts in 17th finishes in the bronze medal.
Chase Elliott.
A dirty at law.
And the number 24 Chevrolet starts in 12th against the silver medal, winning the race, starting in the silver medal position and holding on to win in the number 18 Toyota.
Kyle Bush.
Bush.
So let's go to your point standings, because this is where it's good and interesting, because it's playoff time, kids.
Right now, your odd men out are Ryan Hello Newman and Austin Dillon, the new sheriff in town.
Jamie McMurray is your 12th place holder right now.
He is two points behind Matt Kenseth.
Kenseth is a point behind Chase Elliott.
The man they call the stone Ryan Blaney.
I really hope they're starting to do that.
I would love to know that that catches on is two points ahead of him.
And he is also two points behind Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Stenhouse Jr. is three points behind Denny Hamlin.
I did have the breakfast at Denny's this morning.
I did not have him.
I was thinking about that for dinner.
He is two points behind Kevin Harvick.
Kevin Harvick is two points behind the aforementioned Winter Jimmy Johnson.
Johnson, three points behind Keselowski.
Keselowski, 25 points behind Kyle Larson.
Kyle Larson, seven back on Kyle Bush.
And Martin Truex Jr. is your current standing leader as we go to the playoffs.
I mean, those are your standings right now.
Your top 12 are actually the ones in the playoffs.
It's happening right now.
Because the last six or seven races of the year, what they call the chase for the cup.
Next week, we get underway at two o'clock Eastern on your local NBC proper,
not NBC sports network.
The Bank of America 500 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
That's horsemen country, baby.
So as we get closer and closer, because we're only about four weeks away from Texas.
And that's the third and the last race of the year.
So by then, one that we'll be getting ready to know who the final four right.
So right the final 12 right now.
Well, on Friday, we had our super heroes, super powers spirit team building day at work.
And one of the ladies was wearing Kyle Bush number 18 gear.
All right.
My head was Rob's voice.
It is to her.
It is to her.
These race car drivers are her heroes.
I would like to argue with her about that.
You know what?
If she wants to put the money into it, let her.
But all day long, the woman carries the point.
It's her hero, not the hero she needs, but the hero she deserves.
There you go.
But all day long, I heard your voice going Kyle.
All right.
So let's get into some TV talk because we're going to start with a very big story from this past week.
Today is October 1st.
It is the start of breast cancer awareness month as Jen is wearing her pink ribbon t-shirt.
Julia Louis Dreyfus announcing this past week that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Multi-o, Emmy award winner for VEEP.
She says that she's going to use the platform to help with the orchestration of possible universal health care,
which we know are very murky waters, but she's going to dedicate herself to that.
So we wish her the best and that she does the things she needs to do to get well.
And good for her for going public and saying, hey, I'm going through this, you're not alone.
So tonight, speaking of female empowerment and girl power and all that good stuff,
tonight on the Disney Channel, there's going to be the first of a two-part series called Star Wars Forces of Destiny.
This is an animated feature talking about the women of the Star Wars universe, Leah, Ray, all of them.
And most, yes, most of them will be voiced by the original actors, which I think is kind of cool.
Or missing one, though.
That's what I'm saying. The likes, not like.
Well, it's also going to do with a very young Leah if the trailer I saw is correct.
How are they going to connect that?
Like, is it going to be personal stories?
Or are they going to like work together?
No, I mean, I think their individual stories from the trailer I saw.
Okay.
I've got the DVR set. It's going to be starting up here in about 45 minutes or so, which means I'll watch it in about a month.
Because I'm already behind. I'm already behind.
I'm two weeks behind on Gotham already.
What's that show?
Don't get me started.
Interesting announcement for one of my favorite people in the world, Heather Fogelman, who is a huge fan of the David S. Pumpkins character from SNL.
Do you remember from last Halloween with Tom Hanks?
He's getting his own animated half hour special on October 28, because Estadil would have been in a rerun anyway.
So that at 1130 Eastern on the 28th, they're going to do a David S. Pumpkins animated half hour special.
Nice.
By the way, in case you weren't aware, SNL season premiere last night, the Gosling and the Jay Z.
They are going to be live in every time zone for the entire season this year.
The problem SNL was having was it was only live on the East Coast.
And so all the jokes were getting ruined by Twitter by the time the West Coast got to see it.
So you're basically the West Coast will actually be watching SNL at 830 p.m. on Saturday.
At a decent hour.
So there's that.
Congratulations to the kit Harrington and the Rose Leslie.
They are engaged.
So Jon Snow may know nothing, but his lady friend does.
And she's the one that coined the phrase.
She is absolutely gorgeous.
She's beautiful.
She actually, for those who don't know, she did play his girlfriend on the show in season.
I guess that was five.
Yeah, she's a wildling.
No, I think it's early.
No, it was like three or four.
Okay.
So congratulations to those kids.
My wife checked out the young Sheldon, which she quite enjoyed.
And CBS has given it a full season order.
There you go.
Never watched it episode.
But I do like the fact that the actress playing Sheldon's mother is the daughter of the mother that places mother on the Big Bang Theory.
I was wondering how they got someone that looked so much like her.
I think it's kind of neat.
Spike has canceled the mist after season one.
Didn't even know about it.
I was watching so many episodes of that.
At one time?
Never.
Okay.
I was going to say I checked out the me, myself, and I.
How was that with the with the Bobby Moynihan and the John Luricette?
It's going to be interesting.
It's going to be interesting.
The first one, of course, sets up the premise for everything.
But I like how they're doing the.
It's the same character at three different points in his life.
Yes.
And they're transition points.
It's a major, major transition has happened at all of these stages.
Okay.
So it's, you know, how one leads to the other to the end.
But at the same time, it's this happened, this happened, this happened.
And it's, they do the stories feed and you see how you.
I kind of feel like this is us has kind of paved the way for a show like this.
Okay.
Because this is us does deal with things that inner stories that intertwine with each other and things like that that I know.
I don't know enough about the show, but I know that.
Yeah, but it's, this has happened at this age, but then you circle back to it at this age.
And then you yet circle back again in 2043, I think is the future.
But do you have jetpacked yet?
Don't know.
Don't know.
Well, it's just, you know, you've got three ages being covered in 30 minutes.
So it's not like they give you a whole lot of detail of all the changes yet.
Speaking of spike, they will officially become the Paramount network January the 18th at nine o'clock Eastern.
And it's going to start with a live one hour lip sync battle.
You know how much I love that show.
So I think you figured out what we're going to do to celebrate me this year or January.
There you go.
Done.
They're going to happen.
We're going to watch the lips.
We're going to find some of our watch.
We're going to actually have a lip sync battle.
We have the technology.
We're going to watch the show because it's the day of.
Let's see.
Fox is going to be doing their next live Broadway production.
We'll be rent, but it will not happen till 2019.
So I don't like that this is a bit now.
I just don't know.
Now, if you think that was weird, check this out.
Dave, have you seen the nice guys?
No.
Great film.
Russell Crowe.
And isn't Gosling in that way?
Oh, that's right.
Yeah, I did.
I tried to work my way through that, right?
Just love that film so much.
Fox is going to do it as a television series with female leads.
Mm-hmm.
To me, part of the bit of that show that it was in the 70s,
and you kind of felt bad for these guys because they
were in that culture.
Yeah, they were kind of losers.
Yeah.
You know, I'm bad.
So I'll be interested to see how this works out.
In news that is very exciting for my wife.
My wife is a big fan of the John Grisham.
Fox is also developing his book The Partner as a series.
It's about a guy who is in a law firm, and he steals about $9 million
and takes off to South America.
And he gets hunted down.
But when he comes, it's like his small Mississippi town.
And when he comes back, he has, he's armed with the truth that
no one's prepared for.
But not in like a Jack Nicholson kind of way.
Calling it a David versus Goliath story.
Kind of story, yeah.
The Disney Channel is decided they're going to do a TV movie
version of Hocus Pocus.
In the immortal words of Ralph Garmin and Kevin Smith.
No, thanks.
We already got one.
We don't think another one.
It's already been done.
I agree.
I thought they were doing another Hocus Pocus movie.
No, they're doing it as a TV movie for the Disney Channel.
Oh.
Do you got that going for you?
Why?
Why?
Oh no, you want to talk about why?
Let's talk about why.
We have really run out of ideas.
We have a run out of ideas.
Oh, wait for it.
Because not only do we have one in this segment,
we have a few in movie segments.
And one of them has got, got be all wrapped up.
And we can visually see that.
Coming next season to the CW.
The chilling adventures of Sabrina.
The teenage witch?
Yes, sir.
Because she is in the Archie universe.
They're going to spin it off from Riverdale.
Stay with me.
It's going to have a Rosemary's Baby,
the exorcist vibe.
What?
My list of questions just abounds right now.
Don't screw up my Riverdale.
Because I love that show.
Don't screw it up with a spin off.
I thought that show was awful.
I love that show.
You should turn your mouth.
Talking cat.
Oh, you know, I'm talking about Riverdale.
Not Sabrina.
I was talking about Sabrina.
And if there's voice by the great Joe Elasti.
I don't know what Riverdale is.
Riverdale is the Archie thing on the CW.
It's really good.
It was.
But if you're doing a reboot on something,
at least they're going to an extreme difference
of this was the Sabrina before.
Now we're doing this dark and gloomy twist
of a Rosemary's Baby, which is very different
than the Melissa Joan Hart of cutesy and blonde.
And I feel like she's going to be involved in some way.
Like maybe she's the principal at the school.
All being ants.
Caroline Rae, big fan though, big fan.
Yes.
Amazing technique.
TV on DVD and blu-ray this week,
season one of the Pierce Brosnan show The Sun,
which I've heard good things about,
can't believe we're already through season three of Izombi.
Didn't realize there are that many seasons
that I'd show.
I'd seen the first one.
Season four, volume two of Vikings,
which my wife bailed on two season's ago,
Season 5 of House of Cards. Season 6 of Two Bro Girls to show that will not go away.
My wife loves this show. I don't get it. I don't get it. It's badly written.
It's like every joke is telegraphed a mile away. And I like most of the people involved
in this. It just does nothing for me.
If I have to be in the kitchen cooking and I want something on, it makes great background
noise.
Season 6 of American Horror Story, the Roanoke Season, and WWE Dawn of the Attitude.
Basically, the start of the attitude here at 1997. Looks like a good set.
That's great. There's nothing on TV that I want to watch now. I'm just going to keep
rewatching the office.
And then you already have something to watch. So you're good.
You are looking to the Clubhouse podcast live every Sunday night, 70s, during four Pacific.
Maybe a live show coming up. We don't know yet. We've got to figure out the logistics
of it. I should know that keep an eye on our social media. I should have that answer
for you by Tuesday-ish. Russ wants to know if anybody's seen the good doctor. My wife
was watching the pilot the other night. This is about a guy who is on the autism spectrum
and he's a doctor on ABC.
Yes. I saw the first episode.
Not a sitcom.
I can relate.
I saw the first episode and the first episode I need a second episode.
Okay. Fair enough. Not prepared to make a form judgment.
Right. I like I like the concept. I like the concept of it being this is a young man
who's on the autism spectrum. He has a photographic memory. He has abilities. He can think fast.
He can process. He just doesn't have social skills. And it's going to be interesting to
see how they carry that out of exactly like me. He's able to save lives. I mean, the opening
one is something happens in the hospital or in the in the airport. And he has to save
a life. And you can see him like pulling up his textbook. They do an overlay of like
the textbook. And he knows this isn't right. And this is this. And they are doing what
they do.
But it was kind of a CSI style thing. Yeah. But it's kind of like a doogie house or meets
a special needs situation. It's got promise if they do it right.
All right.
Let's get into P.O.I. Shall we? P.O.I. stands for person of interest. It is a segment
we do on the show where we take it a person or an entity and we debate their greatness
or lack of their love. We are debating an entity this week because it is it is autumn.
Happy autumn, everyone. We're supposed to getting some yesterday was gorgeous in this
town. By the way, nice breeze blowing through got to watch the friend of the show Maddie
Mar play some soccer out there at the University of Texas, the Dallas, beautiful campus. Boy,
they've done a lot with that campus. But there are certain and you guys know autumn is my
favorite season of the year. I love the changing of the colors. I don't like raking leaves.
But I like where it's getting a little cooler. I might be able to break out maybe a longer
sleeve shirt, maybe wear the thermals at night. But it also comes with something that absolutely
wears me out. And I have a feeling if I remember correctly, Dave and I may differ on this
opinion. And it's a little phenomenon known as pumpkin spice. The best flavor ever.
Does Frito lay drug test? I just want to know. I've been lucky to not be drug tested for
quite a long time. Allegedly. I don't get the bit like I love the smell. First of all,
I hate pumpkin pie. Well, then it would be lost on you. I am I am not in the pumpkin pie
fan club. I don't pay dues. I don't go to meetings. And that's my number one. I didn't realize
there was do's or meetings. And not. Yeah. No, my you don't think there is I guarantee you
it's out there. The internet to think everything's a thing. Pumpkin pie, the traditional, not
the chiffon, but the traditional pumpkin pie with the cool it. I just like when I was
a kid, one of my cousins, the only one of the grandkids older than me, he loved pumpkin
pie. So every holiday, my grandmother would make sure that they had a pumpkin pie. And
I was just like really dude. Yeah, my mom. I know grandma makes it for you because you're
her favorite. But let me explain it to you. Pumpkin pie, really, it's only reserved
for right around Thanksgiving. So it's already like cool weather. And it's already comforting.
So you get yourself some nice warm pumpkin pie. And you're it's right after Thanksgiving
dinner. And you've got fall, you've got like winery type weather almost still not selling
me. You you just explained how you like to put on thermals. I love fall. And I enjoy
the work of the pumpkin. I enjoy seeing people decorate pumpkins at Halloween. I enjoy
the symbolism of the pumpkin being an autumn type of deal. I can roll with you on that.
Do you still pumpkin? And I like pumpkins. I respect the pumpkin. I respect the spice.
But I don't respect the pumpkin spice. I mean, so you do enjoy cinnamon, nutmeg,
all spice. Oh, I love the smell of it. I don't mind the smell. No, not just the flavor
of pumpkin pie. No, I'm saying the spice. I'm saying leave the pumpkin out. I'm talking
about the spice part. I don't mind the spice part. It'll bother me. I'll put a little
I have a little cinnamon in my my hot apple cider. I know winter time. I put a little nutmeg
in my egg nog. I'm not afraid of that. Yeah, but I got you here. You know how I can't
stand barbecue? But see, that's an American. It's the same thing. No, it's not the same thing,
because that's that makes you a communist. Not liking pumpkin spy makes me human. Everybody
gives me a sophisticated power. Starbucks had never had the pumpkin spice latte. Dude,
we're at the point where I saw pumpkin spice Oreos in the store the other day. Oh, I've
seen spoofs of products for pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie pop tarts. Yes, they're good. You leave
my pop tarts alone because I even though I can't have them anymore, you leave my pop tarts alone.
Your your favorites are still there, but why can't we have flavors for those that like that?
Because it's gross to you. I like it. It's gross. I don't like barbecue.
I think I don't think you've had the right barbecue because let's let's talk about this
for a minute because you and I have never really gone into depth in this in this subject.
All right. What is it? I mean, if you break out the grill because you have one, I know you do
because I've been to your house many times. What do you put on your grill? I put meat and
stuff like that. I will do some barbecue sauce and stuff on certain items. I'll make I'll
make a brisket and whatnot. So is it the it's the smoky crap? It's it's like they take this crap
and they put it run it through your grandmother's ashtray after she's she's had a
they were exactly exactly and and they're like here. This has a nice smoky flavor. I don't like
so so really what you're saying and because really what you're criticizing is you're criticizing
Texas barbecue because Texas barbecue relies on the smoke because the thing about Texas barbecue
is that it's about not needing the sauce. I think if you had like genuine like Memphis barbecue
which is about the dry rub gigabee that I think you might like that. Well then I'd have to go
because you are a carnivore. You are a carnivore. Oh yeah. No you can order it and have it
sent to you. rendezvous rib ribs.com. Bro I could have pork roll from Jersey to deliver to me.
Yeah. But it cost me 60 bucks a roll. But what I'm saying is I think maybe you haven't had
the right style of barbecue. That's true. That's true. I haven't been I haven't been to
France and had full on France food either. It's delicious. France food. Not only was that
eliterative. Although it's still still grammatically incorrect. McDonald's in France is not all it's
cracked up to be a bit true French food. But they do have the royal cheese right. Which you actually
can get at the Alamo as well. By the way remind me in movie talk to talk about the Alamo draft
house next Friday. Okay. Okay remind me. I just I don't I don't get the bit. But I'm the
sign of the guy with like when it comes to coffee. I love the way it smells. I can't stand the way
it tastes. No matter what you do to coffee it tastes like mud to me. Yeah. Now see and that's
it. See you got two things right there. You don't like coffee and pumpkin spice. So Starbucks is
clearly not a place Starbucks does does flavor teas which I'm a big fan of and their hot apple
cider in the winter time is one of my favorite things and they are the home of the greatness of
the medicine ball. Yes and they need to bring back. That is amazing too. By the way you you turn
me on to that when I was sick. I had like the flu or something like you need to get a medicine ball
and he drug me to Starbucks. I got a I got a medicine ball. That's what got her through New Year's Eve
weekend. Somebody suggested it to me. It's one of the assistance of dinghy. Yeah easy. Somebody
suggested it. Was it was it Heather Bond? No it was one it was Bob. Oh Heather Bob. Yeah Heather
Bob. We love Heather Bob. She suggested it to me. I picked one up for her every day of that convention
and that stuff works and it's weird because everyone makes it differently because it's an off
menu item. Well it's on the menu now. Oh is it cool? They've added it. But I want them to bring
back Chantico which is something they had 18-19 years ago. It was like cake batter thick and it was
a hot chocolate drink and you didn't need a lot of it because it was really up there in the
cabin. You love them good. Yeah I'll tell you what who does great cocoa by the way even though
we're just completely off topic. Breadwinners hot chocolate is one of my favorite things in the
world. Yes I have not tried that because they use they use real milk in it because when you took
me there we went to a screening one Saturday morning and you and myself and Lexi and your wife
went that was the first time I'd ever been there and then we found out your favorite waiter
is the twin brother of friend of the show Raymond Garcia. Oh okay. We didn't even know it at the
time. No they're favorite. Their favorite waiter at breadwinners is this twin brother. He is
fantastic. Yeah Raymond is a twin. So when are we when are we going to breadwinners to meet the
twin so I can get whatever we can you know but there's something about because they use real milk
with with actually with the mix and it's just oh it's it's rich and it's uh it's amazing
and it's still better than pumpkin spice because you don't care for pumpkin I won't get upset with
you for not enjoying the pumpkin spice. I don't dig it. I don't dig it. Pump pumpkin I'll tell you
one one quick little story. Pumpkin spice lattes came out during the time that me and my wife
started dating okay. You're loving wife Angie whom you love very much. That's a beautiful person.
She we we started dating and we used to our our thing was to get a pumpkin spice latte and walk
around North Park Mall at an earlier hour like 9 10 a.m. Which is basically when all the stores are
still closed and nobody's in there. Or they're just starting to open. Yeah like you could you could
just walk around. You get the little old lady power walkers walking around there trying to get
we're right around the corner front brother. It's a great it's a great idea. You buy you know drink
from Starbucks and you get exercise and you get to look at all the fancy pretty things. And that
time of year the trains are there too. Oh we were not. If you've never done the North Park
Train it's an amazing thing. We were not there for exercise at all. We're just there for walking.
Just spending time together. Well no but I mean it's better. So yeah so for me it connects a
memory along with it. So on top of being the most delicious drink at Starbucks. All right.
And I can't give it that title but I will say that it can be yummy. All right so there's that.
All right let's move on talk a little college football because it is college football season.
A couple of things about college football. Texas out of the top 25 as is Florida State.
Florida State first time out of the top 25 in almost 10 years. Let's go through your scores.
Texas actually beats Iowa State yesterday by 10. Number 13 Miami 31 to 6 over Duke Nebraska
beats up on Illinois 28 to 6 Utah State. Taking BYU to the wood shed 40 to 24. Number 11 Washington
State beats number 14 USC by a field goal. What else we got going on here? Houston beats temple by
a touchdown. Pit over rice by a lot. Let's see number nine Wisconsin badger badger badger badger badger
badger mushroom mushroom. I can't do that when when Charlotte was not here. They beat Northwestern 33 to 24.
My beloved Gators beat up on Vandy and a game that the early goings of that were a little bit rough
but they pulled out to win. Boston College beat Central Michigan by 20. Number 24 North Carolina state
by 12 over Syracuse. My beloved South Florida bulls over East Carolina 61 to 31 sucks to have the
under in that game. Florida State gets their first win of the season. God bless you.
Penn State number four 45 to 14 over Indiana. That was a butt kicking. Army beats U-TEP by two
touchdowns. Number five Georgia hands Tennessee and Ellen their own house 41 to nine.
Get a field goal Tennessee Buffalo Buffalo over Kent State by six. Number 17 Louisville beats
up on Murray State by 45. Navy by 10 over Tulsa. See if there's anything. Another game is sucks to
have the under SMU beats Ucon 49 to 28. Noter Dame takes Miami of Ohio to the woodshed. I couldn't
see who they were playing. I watched the end of this game. 52 to 17. So the Irish winning big
Auburn number 12 49 to 10 over Mississippi State. Western Michigan over the Cardinals of Ball State
David Letterman's Malmama. 55 to three. Ball State could get a field goal. Air Force loses
to New Mexico 56 to 38. See what else as we go through UCF. Well, UCF has got some pretty sweet
unies working out there yesterday. 40 to 13 over Memphis. Number two Clemson beats number 16
Virginia Tech 31 to 17. Number 10 Ohio State blanks Rutgers in their own house by 56. Number six
Washington over Oregon State 42 to seven. Number 15 Oklahoma State over Texas Tech by a touchdown.
Alabama still the number one team in the country. Reminds Ole Miss as Ole Miss comes a Telska
Loosa and beats them by 63. That's a real score people. San Diego State 3428 over Northern Illinois
and Colorado State goes to Hawaii and beats them up by 30. Memphis and Georgia State and Maine
was also. No, UCF played. They played Maine. I don't know. They're saying UCF was postponed.
Maybe this week's game was postponed. So your current AP top 25, your top five are Georgia
Penn State Oklahoma Clemson and Alabama. Your official rankings will for the college playoffs will
happen. I believe we're two weeks away. So you got that going for you. Let's talk a little NFL
talk real quick week four under way. Let me see if we're. Eagles beat the chargers just barely.
Is it sad how much I am enjoying the failure of foot of the NFL when Los Angeles?
It's not surprising. Yeah. You had two teams before you couldn't do anything with it.
The only game we have active right now San Francisco and Arizona are in overtime. Arizona
has the ball down three with a minute 10 to go. Let's see tonight. Indy Seattle is your Sunday
night football boy Seattle's offense is terrible. And Richard serving 30 player. He laid a hit
out of bounds last week. That was not cool. And then tomorrow night, the Washington football team
will be at the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City's acting like they're going to be somebody,
but it's still too early for me to say Thursday night. Green Bay beats up on Chicago 35 to 14.
And the I can't remember the guy's name off hand, but the dirty hit in that play. He was
suspended two games. Good. I mean, he cleaned lead with that helmet right in the face of the other
guy. Not good. New Orleans this morning in London, showing my dolphins the door 20 to NAN.
Let's see Atlanta does not cover the spread as they actually lose to Buffalo 23 to 17 since
in that it does because they beat Cleveland 31 to seven Detroit beats Minnesota by a touchdown.
Cowboys. Sorry about your bad luck boys. Lose into the Rams.
35 to 30. Dallas is a five and a half point favorite in that game. Carolina 33
33 30 over New England. So New England gets another loss. And I may be winning something.
Hold the phone. I may have won something from your employer, sir. What PepsiCo's doing this thing
where you just off the cap and you put this code in and they give you a team. And if that team wins,
you get stuff. What do you get? And I am pretty sure if I can go through my email,
I don't know if I still have this email yet because I'm going to look. I was told that I had to root
for the New York Jets which I didn't really want to do. Confirmation. They win you score. You've
unlocked the Jets if they win you could score in just for playing. And the Jets win today.
23 20 over Jacksonville. So I may be getting free stuff. Go me. Awesome.
Pittsburgh over Baltimore 26 to 9. So Don will be happy with that. Houston beats up on 10
and see in a game where Marcus Marriota goes out injured 57 14. That's an NFL score people.
Like Dave said, Philly beats Los Angeles by a safety Arizona final in OT. They hold on. They
win 18 to 15 because they get a touchdown in that extra possession. Tampa Bay does not cover
the spread, but they do beat New York by two Denver over Oakland and another very sloppy game
where Derek Carr went off injured. I have not heard any updates on him. They win 16 to 10.
So that's your your week four recap. Let's talk week five. You can believe it's almost week five in
the NFL. I do love this time of year, but I haven't gotten to watch as much football I want.
This Thursday night, New England at Tampa Bay. There's only a game separating these two teams right now.
And then Sunday, your early games, Buffalo at Cincinnati, the Jets are at Cleveland.
Carolina's at Detroit, San Francisco at Indie boy, that'll be a snoozer. Tennessee will be at my dolphins.
I see we can get back to 500 in that game. The chargers will be at New York. Arizona will be at your
beloved Eagle, sir. Nice. They'll be at the link. Jacksonville will be at Pittsburgh and a game
depends on which Jacksonville team shows up. It's not going to be interesting. Baltimore, who got
their butts handed to them by Jacksonville last time when they played in London, they'll be at
the Oakland Raiders. Seattle will be at LA. Green Bay will be here in this town as they take on
the Cowboys. KC will be at Houston and Minnesota at Chicago is Monday night. KC at Houston is
your Sunday night game next week. So KC's got two Sunday nights in a row. No, they got Monday night
this week, Sunday night next week. So there's that. All right. Let's get into some music talk, shall we?
Yes. Rumors abound that Justin Timberlake will be your Super Bowl halftime show this year.
I could not. I can take that. That's awesome. Well, it'll be interesting because part of the
reason that was that that's not a bad idea is number one Super Bowl ain't on CBS. So they
don't have to be scared because if we remember the last time he was in the Super Bowl halftime show.
He was blindsided. That was planned.
That was planned because if you watch the footage, if you see the footage unblurred,
she had a big ornate thing covering the thing that would have been on TV.
Well, she gotten it was a she'd had that it was a piercing. She'd had that done like a week before.
She knew she was going to do it. I don't know that he knew.
I find that hard to believe. But I mean, I'll see it because I like it. Kid runs the world.
Yeah. His talent. I'm a big fan. So interesting news. There's a been fighting going on
because as we know, American Idol going to ABC. There's been some fighting between the show and the
network. It was announced that Katy Perry would be the first judge paying her 25 million dollars.
Second judge announced this weekend, Luke Bryan. ABC now arguing that there's a lack of
diversity in the judging cast. So they are pushing for Lionel Richie to be the third judge.
Oh, wait, Katy Perry's pop. I thought Luke Bryan was country. How is that not diverse?
They're talking racially. Oh, and see, I thought this was a competition about singing.
You live in 2017, dear. Yeah, we can't have white people on this TV.
Well, we can. There just has to be a balance for the 19 people that will watch that show.
And I mean, no disrespect to that. My logic is just automatically go, I don't understand the
comment. But now that you put it bluntly for me, I see the comment they're making, but I don't
know that there's any validity to it. Just have guest judges and just round it out that way.
Like, why does this have to be a fun? First of all, why does this have to be a show? It's over.
Be done with it. Well, I try honest Katy Perry looks transgender. So she doesn't really count
as white. I do like the Katy Perry young thug was arrested and charged with gun possession,
felony drug possession of the marijuana, and having overly tinted windows,
where the cop found weed, liquid coating, and $50,000 in cash. I'm sure it wasn't his car.
I don't know. Maybe if you want to avoid that, first of all, don't do that.
But number two, don't name yourself young thug. I'm going to throw it out there. He's honest.
Honesty, honesty. Well, he honestly named himself.
I'm a lot like Tom Griswald in one respect as I live by a private code other than by a policy.
If your name is a little anything, I probably will not be seeing you live. Don't care if it's a little
Jesus. I'm out. I'm sure he was on his way to a charity function.
The charity. At the Wayne's house. Yeah, the charity.
Marilyn Manson was injured at a show in New York City. After a prop of two giant guns wobbled,
he fell and the prop fell on top of him during sweet dreams are made of this. They, of course,
canceled the rest of the show. There's some irony there. Is that just me?
Could you imagine a little Jesus, though?
Coming out in the room. That's actually direct from Tom Griswald. Don't care if it's a little Jesus.
I'm sorry. I'm all I'm thinking of this midget version of Jesus in the room.
Music new releases in places you get music new releases this week. August Burns Red releases
Phantom Anthem Liam Gallagher because the Gallagher brothers will never go away.
As you were, the aforementioned Marilyn Manson releases heaven upside down.
The Black Dahlia murders back. They've been kind of quiet for a few years with nightbringers
and the darkness. They're back with Pinewood smile. I hope it's as good as that last time.
And I'm thinking Shania has a new one out too.
Shania's going to be here in June. I know. I'm thinking she's got a new out. How you doing?
And I know I've pre-ordered an album by Pink and another one of the songs came out this last week.
The album's not out yet, but I've got two of the songs. All right.
Let's get into In Memoria and we've got a couple of them to get two big ones this week.
Hugh Hefner passed away this week at the age of 91.
He's a vote captain. Born April 9th, 1926 in Chicago during prohibition.
His mother was a teacher. His father was an accountant and they were from Nebraska. He had one younger
brother. He was actually a direct descendant of Plymouth Governor William Bradford.
His family was described as conservative Midwestern and Methodist. It shouldn't see that coming.
1952, he was actually a copywriter for Esquire. Left there as after he's denied a $5 raise,
I think we all know where this is going. If you don't know who Hugh Hefner is, then probably just
you might want to Google it, but not at work. I'm just saying.
Okay. He's actually going to be buried in a mausoleum next to Maryland Monroe.
And I'm saying that the ceremony was already privately held.
There's going to be a more public one.
Okay. Because they're doing a reunion of something.
And there is some kind of an air that had already bought the home,
but the stipulation was you can buy the home but have gets to stay there until he passes.
So that's that's actually a common thing to do.
Trying to see if I can find.
I would like to thank him for getting me through my puberty years.
One of my favorite tweets I read was Pat and Oswald.
And really only men of a certain age or women of a certain age will get this reference.
But he said, per Hef's wishes he'll be buried deep into the woods inside a treehouse under her rug.
I love Pat Mausoleum.
I'm trying to figure out there's something.
Oh, the guy that bought the Playboy Mansion.
One of the great one of the greatest names I've heard in a long time.
He's actually the he's the owner of the Papst Brewing Company.
And his name is Dean Metropolis.
Nice.
It looks kind of like Joe Biden.
He's 71, but he actually bought the house.
Also passing away we found out yesterday at 96.
First of all heck of a run for the great Monty Hall.
Born Monty Hallaprin.
There's he hosted Let's Make a Deal for forever.
Oh, yeah.
And there's actually a puzzle named for him called the Monty Hall problem.
He was born in Minotech.
Minotech.
When it man the fifth.
He was born in Minotech.
Winnipeg Manitoba.
I'm going to say it properly.
Easy for you to say.
So he's Canadian.
He's got that going for him, you know, which is nice.
I lost my paycheck.
His parents were Orthodox Jewish.
He attended Lord Selkirk School in Elmwood, Winnipeg and later St. John's High School.
Got a bachelor's of science from the University of Manitoba where he majored in chemistry and
zoology.
That's an interesting combination.
I started working in career while a student moved to Toronto in 1946.
Let's see.
moved to New York City in 1955.
Hosted Striket Rich on CBS and 21 on NBC.
When did he start?
Let's make a deal.
He would start.
Let's make a deal.
Let's see.
December 30th, 1963 on NBC until December 27th, 1968, then it moved from daytime
three days later on ABC through 76 and two prime time runs.
I always remember because the model was always Carol Merrill.
And he also did split second in the 70s.
I mean, this guy hosted a lot of game shows, but he was mainly known for
let's make a deal because people would get on there and dress crazy and try to get his
attention so they could win money.
And then at the end of the show, they'd go for the big deal, which they're going to call
the Monty Hall problem, where you'd have three doors and you would have to risk everything
you'd want up to that point to to take the risk.
And you they'd open the door and maybe it's a car and maybe it's a chicken.
A goat.
It's the two thirds.
They called the song.
Was it the same show that they were where he would go through the crowd and everybody would
dress up in cars?
Yes.
And do you have a roll of their tape on you?
Yeah, exactly.
And if you maybe maybe you want to years with a rice errone as a consolation prize.
Which crap can you carry in your version?
Right now it's being, last I knew it was being hosted by Wayne Brady.
Yes, that's what I heard he was.
And you'd be surprised what can go in a purse.
I have seen some.
You know, when I worked when I worked at Incredible Universe, we used to do the same kind of deal.
Or I'd be like, if you can bring me a picture of yourself and you have more than three kids,
we'll give you something free.
I mean, we ripped that off easily.
No, it's an easy one to do.
Let's see.
Yeah, Wayne Brady is your current Billy Bush hosted that show for a year.
But Wayne Brady's been hosting it since 2009.
So Jerry Hallowell was a model there for a year in 91 92 who would then go on to be one of the Spice Girls.
Mm-hmm.
Got that going for you.
There's currently Tiffany Coyne.
I literally thought you were talking about a dude there.
I just had to think.
Oh, GGRI not GERRI one of those names.
But both very well-known people.
Both solid runs.
Almost 200.
So they will both be missed.
They will be missed.
So let's get into some.
Yeah, Russ gave his, also beat the clock on the new split second game show.
All right, so let's get on to some major league baseball settings because the season tonight is over.
So let's tell us that let me refresh my page here so that we can get you the most updated
standings in the American league east.
Boston finishes in first place, 93 and 69.
They finished two games ahead of the Yankees.
The Yankees are in the playoffs.
Baltimore 18 games back.
They're a game back on Toronto, Toronto's for back on Tampa Bay.
In the central division, Detroit,
out, Swipe socks, out, Kansas City, out, Minnesota in, but they were still 17 games back on Cleveland.
In the NL West, the Rangers, after two and eight in their last 10, pretty much melted it down.
So the only team making the playoffs in the AL West is the Houston Astros.
So let's get into your national league.
In the AL West, you have three of those five teams into the playoffs.
Colorado and Arizona in Dodgers win the division by 11 games.
They won 104 games this year, but not the most interesting story that we're going to talk about.
What do I miss? I missed one.
I missed one.
I missed one because I need to talk about them.
In the NL Central, the Cubs win they get in, and the Washington Nattinals get in.
Nobody from the NLE is the only one that matters.
That's what I'm looking for.
So, David, you hear this factoid about the Minnesota twins?
No.
First team in a major league baseball history,
to have a 100 lost season and make the playoffs the next year.
Isn't there like a 162 games?
Only team in major league baseball history, which is now like 120 years.
So they went 162 and 100?
Well, I don't know what they did last year, but they lost, I mean, if they even lost 100 or more games,
and then the next year made the playoffs.
And here you go.
There's your idea for a new movie.
It'd be a baseball movie.
It'd be Greatness America.
Apple pie.
What is cracker jacks?
Did you know now that they're the cleavants in the playoffs,
we're going to get me doing it.
I still haven't seen money ball just because that's so bad.
All right, are we ready to play America's favorite game show?
Yes.
All right, Russ, I know you're in the chat room.
It's time for America's favorite game show.
What is the run differential for the San Diego Padres?
Because it's official seasons over.
No one's going to catch them.
They're going to catch them.
General.
Negative 155.
Dave.
Two.
Negative two.
No, just two.
Positive two.
Yeah, very optimistic, sir.
By the way, best in the league is Cleveland, a plus 254.
I don't know if you could tell.
I was just throwing my number out.
All right.
See if Russ puts his prediction here in the chat room.
We're going to give him just a second.
But in the meantime, I'll give you the rest of the stats on the San Diego Padres.
They finished 71 and 91.
Not worse than the league.
20 games below 500.
There were three and seven in their last 10.
That's a 438 win percentage.
They were 33 games back in the division.
43 and 38 at home, 28 and 53 on the road.
And Russ does not type anything yet.
Closest without going over is going to be the general but she was still way off.
Run differential for the San Diego Padres.
Minus 212.
Means they gave up 212 more runs than they scored.
Oh, my.
We were still in the they scored 604 runs this year.
They gave up 816.
Wow.
And and thank you to Chad and Don for being on assignment and giving me a chance to finally win one.
There you go.
And Dave wasn't really playing anyway.
So he's just pretty.
You heard it here first and it wasn't for me.
I've got no words.
I think she's got a mental disorder.
All right.
Her vision is blinded.
Let us combine both sports and entertainment and talk a little pro wrestling.
Last week was no mercy and it was what it was.
But I wanted to start this segment this week with a very interesting story that I read
and it made me go, I'm sorry, what?
Apparently they're doing a biopic of Vince McMahon.
And it was paying for it.
I don't know but an actor has been offered the role.
And his name is Bradley Cooper.
I'm going to take a sip of my tasty beverage.
Why don't we just put Leonardo DiCaprio in there?
Because he wants to play Stanley.
That's your story.
It's a true story.
Apparently they're neighbors.
And Stanley has been to his house.
That's right.
I've heard that.
We must listen to the same podcast.
Probably.
So apparently that's that's he's been offered the role.
Is this going to be it's going to have to be on the network?
Is this is this something viable for Hollywood and why now it seems a bit premature?
It is seem weird just saying.
WWE interested in bringing back Caitlin.
She's been gone for a few years.
Celeste Bonin is her real name.
She's also a fitness model.
So she probably she's been doing some work for some independent work in Florida.
Dana.
So beautiful girl.
The shield may be reunion reuniting at TLC at the end of this month.
There's rumors of that that that being the midterrage versus the shield.
Why wouldn't you just save that for survivor series at another team on both sides?
Because they forgot to listen to this podcast.
We're going to talk about that here in a minute.
Yeah, we talked about that at work this week.
In news that really makes no sense to me.
We talked last week about how you're going to have two paper views in the same week.
Survivor series, the Sunday of the week of Thanksgiving, and then Starcade,
the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
They're bringing back Starcade one of my favorite paper views of all time.
Now they're saying it's not going to be on the network.
Where's it going to be?
They're calling it a higher profile house show.
And apparently the seating chart shows seats where the camera's normally would be.
So this is going to be broadcast, which really makes no sense.
So it's early Christmas to us because Thanksgiving is now over.
So we're going to make some money.
Early Christmas to whoever gets to go to the show.
That's not going to be us because the rock and roll express is going to be on it.
It's one of my favorite tech teams of all time.
Sure, they're 90, but they're still out there doing it.
But I meant they can charge more for those seats because it's not going to be televised.
So therefore it's Merry Christmas to them.
How shows tend to be cheaper actually because they're not TV.
But they're them calling this a quote higher profile house show.
They probably will charge more, which is really annoying.
I always enjoy the non televised wrestling live show.
L.A. wouldn't like it because it's basically it's a face fest.
A face is just always win.
Yeah, well, yeah dog would be happy.
Yeah, and so we're done.
I got to touch Trish Stratis.
Trish Stratis.
How you doing? Canadian.
What's that all about?
Let's see.
Michael Cole will miss Raw tomorrow night for his son's wedding.
So Mazel tob to the Cole family.
Cena, you know, he's left.
He's gone again because he's going to be in the Bumblebee movie.
Don's favorite, but he will be back for survivor series is what they're saying.
Okay.
So you know, that go and apparently Nikki Bella will be
dedicating her dance tomorrow night and dancing with the stars.
It's a John Cena.
That'll be interesting.
I'm amazed that that shows even still a thing.
What dancing with the stars?
You can be amazed.
But it's got it's got it's got an audience.
See, I'm so bad.
I usually wait till it's run as far as I can go back and watch.
And then I if that if I don't like it the answer, just pass forward past it.
It just infuriates me.
It just amazes me that Tom Bergeron still getting work.
I like the guy, but I thought once once Pollywood Squares was church,
that was going to be it for him.
But he found a way to get it done, brother.
I'm pulling up my notes now so we can talk about Raw.
Making bank.
The only thing I have from Raw is this.
Neville can cut a promo.
Who knew?
That's what I got.
In other news, WCW Thunder is being delayed on the WWE network.
They're supposed to put it up and now they're pushing it back because apparently there's some legal
issues with with buff Bagwell and Raven over royalties.
Alberto El Patrone will return it bound for glory for impact wrestling.
It's going to be November the 5th in Ottawa,
while Robbie E has left impact wrestling.
So it'll be interesting to see where he goes from there.
I think the company could use him, but they definitely have to just completely repackage him
because he has this whole jersey bro thing.
He was in a tag team with Jesse Gardzner called the Bro Manns.
Nice.
Yeah, they did it for you.
Did they do some GTL on the show too?
Yeah, they did a whole the whole thing.
Yeah, yeah.
Bully Ray believes he may be done after a table spot at death before dishonor with ROH.
So I have to keep an eye on that.
Speaking of ROH, WWE has sent a cease and desist order to the young bucks
for doing the whole wolf pack to sweet thing.
And so they've now replied with a t-shirt of them
with censored over their hands and it says cease and desist on it.
You have no talent.
WWE not signing Crazy Steve from Impact Wrestling.
So there's that.
And if you know who Jack Gallagher is, he's a guy 205 live.
He's the gentleman.
There's going to be a documentary about him in the UK that's going to debut.
I don't remember the fifth.
Apparently he's got a very interesting story.
So people will be keeping an eye on that for you.
Charlotte Flair says this week that she wants to main event WrestleMania with Ronda Rousey.
The newly married Ronda Rousey, by the way.
Maltz and tough.
Don't know how to feel about that one.
I saw it.
I feel like the women's division is so strong as it stands
that it doesn't.
I mean, yeah, there would be buys.
There'd be a buy rate on that, but just saying.
Well, Ronda Rousey.
Plus after Ronda Rousey getting her butt handed to her in the...
Yeah, she's had a rough go of it.
Those last couple of fights.
But she had fun rubbing elbows with the celebrities on the...
And I can't think of the competition.
The TV show.
She was one of the coaches on...
Ultimate fighter.
No, the All-Star with the dunk tank and the...
Oh, the Superstars?
Yeah, where the shows battle each other.
Superstars.
I had to say it, but I think her just her 15 minutes is up.
But I mean, if the...
I still like her, but I just don't know if this is a thing that I want.
You know, unfortunately that cashed me outside.
Girl still hanging around.
Do you know she's got a song now?
Oh, I've heard it.
We listen to the same broadcasts.
I don't even want to go there.
I don't even want to give that person any airtime.
I don't want to go there.
It's, yeah, it's annoying.
We've got better things to be doing in this world right now than that.
We can talk about Teen Mom.
No, we can't do that either.
My wife would enjoy that.
Congratulations to speaking of pregnant.
Congratulations to the Maria Canelis.
She and Mike are expecting their first child.
So, Mausletop to them.
And I read this week that in news that shouldn't surprise anybody.
For the WWE 2K 18 video game, Shane McMahon did his own motion capture work.
Because that's what he does.
No surprise.
A couple of notes about Smackdown.
When the new day was sitting ringside for the tag match,
when they were doing the your WWE, there was some little kid behind him doing the grinding thing,
and that was a little uncomfortable for me.
Does Aign English realize that he's committing gimmick infringement
from Vanessa Bayer's show big kid character on SNL?
Because somebody's listening to the show.
Oh, yeah.
Last week on this show, on this show, in this studio, seven days ago,
I said the perfect bit for Aign English was to be the singing minstrel for Rusev,
and what the crap happened less than 48 hours later.
Somebody's listening to this show.
Either that or the cats are bugged.
Which means they're still listening.
I'm not saying cut me a check.
It would be nice, but give a brother some credit.
Come on.
You're a psychic.
Nobody else called that.
This guy called that.
And it was all some of this.
It was funny.
Don't get me wrong.
It was very, very funny.
Well, a smart person suggested it, and it got done.
Thank you.
I wouldn't go that far, but all right, let's get into movie talk.
And don't forget Alamo Friday.
Yes.
Actually, let me lead with that before we get into movie talk.
So we all know when next Friday is correct.
What the date is?
The 13th.
Correct.
The Alamo Drafthouse, starting at 10, 13 in the morning,
is going to do an 8 Friday the 13th film marathon.
Good for them.
And that same weekend, that same night at the coyote drive-in,
I think it's the one in Lewisville.
They're doing the new Friday the 13th and the new
nightmar non-treat as a double feature.
Something about October 13th being on a Friday in October.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Did I say that wrong?
Should be Friday the 13th in October.
Now, October the 13th being on Friday in October.
I'm a little sleepy.
All right, so let's get into some box office numbers from our friends at box office mojo.
We have a very interesting conundrum
because your silver,
bronze, and gold winners could change between now and tomorrow morning.
Okay.
And I'll explain why here in a minute.
Dropping out of the top 10 this week,
stronger, which Don very much enjoyed.
But I don't believe we did.
No, we did a sp I thought we did a
a deal for that.
Maybe we did.
We did.
We did.
The edition.
Thought we did.
Maybe we didn't.
Hey, tune's exclusive.
I don't have the the Equal FX not working anymore.
Wow, bummer.
The stronger drops from 8 to 13,
$986,000, $2 weeks, $3.3 million.
Friend requests drops from 7 to 14 with $800,000.
$2 weeks, $3.4 million.
Hitman's bodyguard drops from 9 to 15,
$175,000, $7 weeks, $74.7 million on a $30 million budget.
And Wind River drops from 10 to 17.
That's a really good film.
iTunes exclusive 309.
That goes, let's see, $600,000, $9 weeks, $32.8 million, $11 million budget.
Fifth place this week.
Mother.
Very strange film.
We've been in a mother's home with me.
I've heard very mixed on it.
It's, it's still in Aaronovsky.
So it's going to be weird.
It's got to do record room for a dream.
Drops from 5 to 10 this week.
$1.4 million, $3 weeks, $16.3 million, $30 million budget.
It's not going to make it.
Till death do us part,
debuts in 9th place this week with $1.5 million.
Home again, drops from 6 to 8 this week.
$1.8 million, $4 weeks,
$25.2 million, $12 million budget there.
American assassin drops from 4 to 7.
I'm still not sure about this film.
I like to check it out though.
$3.3 million, $3 weeks, $31.8 million, $33 million budget.
It's not going to make money because of the promotion.
But it might make it back on home video.
Battle of the Sexes, jumps from 16 to 6.
iTunes exclusive 319.
$3.4 million, $2 weeks, $4 million.
Flatliners, I don't realize that came out this week.
Do we need to remake this?
No, thanks.
We already got the one.
Because I didn't like the original.
Did not dig the original.
I didn't think it was great.
It's days of good day to die.
Thank you, key for Sutherland's.
I see at the time.
Even with Oliver Platte, who I love, this movie was still terrible.
At the time in my life, I was into it because I was a bit goth-ish
at the time and thought it was cool.
And that's why I liked it because it fit.
The craft I could go there with you, but Flatliners.
You got to go back and rewatch it.
Was the death thing, I guess?
Yeah.
The Lego Ninjago movie drops from 3 to 4 this week.
$12 million, $2 weeks, $35.5 million.
I've been- I've talked to a couple of people that have seen this.
That has said...
That's kind of where I'm at, I don't know.
I just don't know.
It doesn't have the same spirit that the other Lego movies do.
It still looks funny.
I might check it out when it comes on K or whatever.
Okay, so here's the deal.
And the top three spots this week.
Right now, before the final numbers come in,
I'm going to give you to you an order because there's a reason I'm doing this this week.
Kingsman the Golden Circle drops from Gold to Bronze.
American made with Tom Cruise,
Dave Usen Silver.
It bumps up from Silver back to Gold.
It's October.
Hold on.
The reason that I'm telling you, this may be wrong by tomorrow.
There are $310,000 that separate the three of them.
No way.
Kingsman, $17 million, American made $17 million, $16,000.
It, $17 million, $310,000.
I can see the Tom Cruise movie bumping out, bumping it down to the number two spot
because it's the debut week.
So we're probably going to wait to have to tomorrow when the final numbers come in.
But Kingsman, $66.7 million, $2 weeks, $104 million.
Fantastic movie.
iTunes exclusive, $318.
I really would like to get that.
American made $50 million budget.
It, $35 million budget, that kind of surprises me.
But total gross right now, $291.2 million.
So you got that going for it?
I think they're going to be okay.
You got that going to be fine.
All right.
Let's get into some movie headlines.
Speaking of it, the official sequel is set for September 2019.
So you got that going for you.
They're going to wait two years to tell the second half of that story.
Because the story exists in two time frames.
Right.
No, I know.
I just don't know.
No, no.
Yeah.
Next Monday night, Monday night football.
We talked about that earlier this this evening.
Mark Hamill puts a tweet out this week that says to watch Monday night,
football, October 9th for no apparent reason.
Those are his words.
So in two weeks.
Next week.
A week from tomorrow.
Watch Monday night football for no apparent reason.
Says Mark Hamill, star of Star Wars, the last Jedi.
He knows nothing.
He doesn't know anybody.
He's not John Snow.
Yeah, who is he?
What is he now?
He's a Joker.
He knows that.
Well, that's too much.
Okay, played.
And he was he was the Giver.
His Mark Hamill going to be the savior of NFL ratings.
We'll be getting YouTube ratings.
Because that's where I'll be watching it.
That's where I'll be watching it as well.
I'll be watching the length that you tagged me.
It'll be day.
Pretty much.
The Halloween sequel begins filming this month,
which was another cryptic tweet coming from Jamie Lee Curtis,
where she's dressed exactly the same as she was in the first one.
She says one more visit.
And then the point was brought up is,
but didn't they kill her in one of them already?
It was like Halloween H2O or whatever.
Don't know.
People never died movies.
You know better.
The terminators coming back with Linda Hamilton.
And James Cameron producing and co-writing.
And everything after T2 is being ignored.
Good.
I didn't mind.
I've watched terminator today, but I didn't mind genisus.
Or the machines was steaming pile of garbage.
And salvation just kind of was what it was.
But I didn't mind genisus.
Just saying I heard there was a lot of mistakes.
The mother of dragons was in it.
I don't know.
So what carry underwood walking down the street,
getting ready for some Sunday night football on her red dress.
I looked up a build on the T800 arm,
the end of skeleton arm.
Today, I'm very interested in doing that.
Can you make it like way people come with me if you want to leave?
Actually, I'm just going to make it in the glass case.
And it'll be having its middle finger extended.
Very nice.
Clancy.
I'm hearing that Lucy too is coming out.
I have something to say in the first one.
Uh, I heard the first call.
Since the theme of tonight seems to be no thanks, we've already got one.
Lionsgate and the Henson Company are going to be rebooting flight of the navigator.
I liked that movie the first time I didn't love it.
I didn't love it.
No.
I remember what it could have been better.
Big deal it was when it came out.
Sony going to be spinning off men in black.
After the success of Jurassic World, so I blame you.
I'm sorry for that.
Uh, Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nihongo are being eyed for a Charlie's Angels reboot.
So a great actress and one that can't emote her way out of a paper bag.
So this will go well.
Yeah.
Somebody's got to play Charlie.
So you guys should just do something, okay?
And if you saw me freak out on social media this week, you know what I'm about to talk about.
Jonathan Levine, the director of Warm Bodies, not a bad film.
And the creator of Blackish, Kenya Barris,
will be working together.
Did you know I'm going with this?
No.
On the sequel.
Coming to America.
What?
I don't know how many languages I can say no in, but it's not enough.
That movie needs to be left alone.
And Eddie Murphy quote, expected to return.
Are you insane?
You leave this film alone.
This is the one thing I have left.
That in Ferris.
That's all I have left.
All right, look at it this way, okay?
Jaws.
They didn't need to make two, three revenge.
Okay, you should have started growling at three because three was terrible.
Anyway, the only thing I remember at three was it was in 3D.
And like the jaw like came out at you at the end.
I was like, oh, really is what we're doing.
And it's really, really, really.
I was like, oh, really is what we're doing.
And it's really weird to watch it on TV when it's not in 3D.
Yeah, well, I mean, it's just like, it's, it's, it sharks in the salsa.
You can, yeah, yeah, we're going to need a bigger chip.
No, he says we're going to need to bring a boat.
Oh, okay.
So, you know, you don't hate on Jaws for Jaws, two, three, and the revenge.
But at least those sequels were fairly in the same time frame.
Not 30 freaking years later.
Because we've run out of ideas.
I just, I don't know why.
I mean, all the men in the barbershop are dead by now.
Or seen now.
It's just like why?
That movie is so wonderful on its own.
It doesn't need to be messed with ever.
And all I remember is getting my dad to go see it with me.
No idea what was about to happen when he is getting bathed.
That was the best.
She's your queen.
And it's, it's a great movie and it's an amazing scene.
But when you're a teenage girl, that's your dad.
That may be, that may be the one movie I quote more than any other movie.
So great.
By a country mile.
Whatever you like.
You never met no Frank Sinatra.
And then I was like,
Welcome to the stage.
Mr. Randy.
I, I, I recorded it this morning as a matter of fact.
When we were doing soundcheck, I was on my way there.
I believe the tune enough.
I was catching you in the middle of all that I was dying.
You might remember him as Joe the policeman from the what's going down episode.
Oh, that's my mom.
Did you hear me come by because that boy was good.
Well, I started on going, I got talent.
T-E-O-E-N-T-T.
Which unfortunately is not a line for the movie.
I know, but it's still one of my favorite things.
I thought it was the God.
Leave that movie alone.
I could watch that movie on a loop because there's not a scene in that movie that doesn't make me laugh.
Yes, in the face.
Burke, look it out.
I mean, come on.
That movie is so brilliant.
Leave it alone.
Louis Anderson's great in that movie.
Samuel Jackson's great in that movie.
Eric LaSalle's great in that movie.
He'll always be the sole god.
I don't care what he does.
I know he did the art.
It doesn't matter.
I like it when Louis Anderson's doing his, his going and soon.
I'll be on fries.
I sent that to Jeff, the minute he guys.
I feel like we need to sit your family down and just watch that film together.
It's played on loop in my house.
Listen to me.
And of course, I got to fast through it through the penis washing area.
Well, at least you know, you've got a heads up of what's going on.
I can't do anything about the boobs on the screen.
They're on there for at least a second and then they're gone.
So everybody has some.
People get off the couch and there's the gerry curl stains.
Leave that movie alone.
Leave it be.
There should be, there's no need for a sequel.
Oh god.
Movie is speaking of sequels.
Movie new releases in places you see movie new releases this week.
Blade Runner 2049.
Don't care.
I'm one of the very few people in the geek community.
That says Blade Runner.
Yeah, I'm not there's 19 different versions of it.
None of them have meant anything to me.
You're not one of the only ones.
I and I didn't I don't like Mad Max either.
Mad Max was okay for what it was.
I used I used Thunderdome references all the time.
We don't need a dog.
Okay, that's a song.
That's not a reference.
But Thunderdome is a reference that I use like when I talked about,
when I do trainings about leadership,
I do talk about Thunderdome a little bit.
Okay, well, it's just, I messed up, I messed up.
The Mountain Between Us, a brand new movie from Idris Elba,
comes out this week.
Let me pull that up for you.
Also, Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are in this.
Interesting.
What about that?
It's almost stranded.
After a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection
to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow-covered mountain.
When they realize help is not coming,
they embark on a perilous journey across the wilderness.
Bo Bridges is in this, Dermott Mollroni is in this.
Let's see, there's all the names I recognize.
Go ahead, Dave, I'm sorry.
Nothing, I was a little off topic there,
but Idris Elba's last movie,
the Stephen King book.
What is it?
Oh, the Dark Tower.
The Dark Tower, yes.
Thank you.
Anybody seen it?
I know people that didn't, it just did not go well.
That's the shaman, that's really good.
And a movie that David's already bought his tickets for,
he began his wife of schedule date night.
God bless you, sir.
For my little pony, the movie, I know you're ready.
Oh, yes.
DVD and Blu-Wry New releases and DVD places you get DVD and Blu-Wry New releases this week,
Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Men Tell No Tales, not great, not bad.
Cult of Chucky.
In case you need another Chucky movie in your wife.
Oh, Rusted Quota.
I'm going to tear you apart and your friend too.
A ghost story with the Jill and Hall that was out earlier this year.
The Book of Henry, which I've heard good things about.
The Wizard of Lies, which was the Bobby De Niro
Bernie Madoff HBO movie.
Okay.
That's coming out this week.
A new sniper movie, because apparently there was more than one
called Ultimate Kill and Vampire, the foreign version of VAMPYR.
It's the Criterion Collection this week.
Couple of tech corner notes this week.
Nintendo will be shutting down the We Shop channel in 2019.
Why, because nobody buys anything off there.
Yeah, I mean, we have been turned our we on in like three years.
It's sitting.
My wife's got it and she just never uses it.
She was going to use it for a little while and she was like,
they could keep making money off of just making retro concerts.
Like if people are I won't buy them because they want and they're not expandable.
So although I've been told about a lot of people that are hacking them.
Well, the funny thing is like this time, everybody ran out to go buy the super Nintendo classic,
right?
And they didn't buy just one.
They bought like two or three or four and then they went to Hock them all online.
Not knowing now the stores are fully stocked.
Yeah.
People are idiots.
WWE 2K 18 will be available on the PC the 17th of this month.
And I'm going to let you I need to step out for just a minute and I want you guys to talk
about this because you are social media people.
Okay.
Twitter is now beta testing letting people tweet in 280 characters and not the standard.
So I'm going to step out for just a second.
I want you guys to discuss that for just a minute.
I think that kind of loses the the thing that I mean you're turning Twitter back into
Facebook now at this point in time.
You know, you're not you're not your own thing.
I'm stepping over right now.
This is not my deal.
Chair's not rolling.
Okay, there we go.
And I guess my thing is is part of the whole point of Twitter
was to be brief and make people condense and get to the point
versus making a platform long drawn out explanations and stuff like that.
I really don't I don't anybody who has these long
die tribes that they put up on Facebook.
I get about three sentences in.
And if you haven't even gotten to a point by that point in time,
I'm like, yeah, I like your post and move on.
If you're a friend, I'll like your post and move on.
And it's just and I'm sorry.
Now, I'm going to put this on front straight here.
But, but I'm liking your post because I'm a friend of yours
and I want to seem like I'm involved.
Just don't do the thing where you like it because you've seen it.
What do you mean?
I know someone who
come out.
I know someone who will sit there and he will like every post you make
just to say he saw it.
And that drives me bonkers.
It's almost like being cyber stocked.
No, it's the I realize that you put a lot of work into whatever it is you're
talking about.
And I'm just like, all right, like, and sometimes like, like,
people who read the end of a book, I'll go down to like the last three
sentences and try to see if I can catch the point.
And if I tell you, I finished a book on vacation.
Now, I finished Ready Player One.
You know, I, if there comes an a day where that's on audio book,
I think it is.
Lily is reading it.
The Quill Wheaton, who's actually referenced in the book.
It is not, it is in the, the audible.
I just, I don't know.
It's twice what you can do now, right?
Is this into 140 characters now?
Yeah, it's 140.
I have a very rare occasion where I can't make what I'm trying to say get
across in 140 characters.
But yeah, and then, then, then the runs into that other part of the spectrum
is where people have invented this retarded language.
Easy.
This strange language.
Yes.
This mentally impaired language.
They're creating language that no one understands.
You literally have to try to decipher to go through Twitter.
So there's a good and a bad.
But I think, I mean, if you want to do something with Twitter,
do it where like, when I do something on my Instagram,
it goes to my Twitter, which then goes on my Facebook.
But it abbreviates my post.
So why not just make the post the link to get to the picture
and make the post longer?
Instead of just taking up a bunch of characters
with the address to get to Instagram.
No, no, that kind of drives me crazy because like with, with Facebook,
I do, I'm a big fan of Facebook.
Okay, but this is the one, the one thing that drives me crazy is if there is a link to say,
like your Instagram, sir, it will take me to the web version of Instagram.
And from Twitter, it does.
From Twitter, it does.
From Facebook, it's gotten better with that,
where they're just putting the whole picture up.
Now, if you can't read the whole post.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Then you'd have to go do that.
Well, that's, and then it links me into the web version.
Why not just connect me to my stupid app that's right there.
It makes you log back in.
Then you have to remember your passwords,
which if you're using the app, you don't remember your passwords anyway.
Well, I have my own issues with Instagram because with Twitter,
I can actually manage all three of the Twitter feeds I have all at the same time.
And Instagram, I have to sign out of one sign in the other and I don't like that.
Because I would post more on the Clubhouse Twitter,
I mean, on the Clubhouse Instagram and the Grace Descending Instagram,
if I could just manage them all at the same time.
Instead of having to log out of one and log into another,
like Twitter, I can just hit a button.
A little thing comes out.
I can pick the other one.
It just takes me to it.
Or even if you had to have three separate Instagram apps,
where you could just, I can see that.
I could totally see that.
I just, I don't know.
I mean, they're keeping up.
And Twitter is, I know a lot of people that just are on Twitter more than they're anything else.
They love Twitter, yeah.
Because Twitter, I mean, Twitter gets you instant news.
I'm sorry, it's like Twitter and Facebook.
It's like Nike and Adidas.
Everybody has their own personal choice.
That's changing.
The number one shoe brand is changing.
Who's the number one shoe brand?
My was thinking it was between Nike and Adidas.
I remember seeing something the other day.
Let me see if I can pull it up.
Well, I don't know if Adidas really wants to put themselves out there right now,
given what they're dealing with.
Because they're at the center of this whole NCAA.
Right, and it's because of, it's because of all of that that's going on that there's
stuff happening.
Is it the, what is it putting transgender men on a NCAA?
No, it's the investigation at the FBI.
Have you not heard about this?
No, I guess not.
The FBI has come out with a report this week.
They've named five schools that have serious
federal government violations, where they're laundering money through shoe companies to pay
families of athletes to get to come to their school.
Rick Patino has been fired from Louisville.
The AD from Louisville has been fired.
Arizona was named.
Ohio State was named and a couple of other schools as well.
And the fallout.
And this is not the NCAA.
This is the FBI, sir.
I give you the FBI.
And this is, and this is a big deal.
Like it's going to get uglier for kids any pretty prettier.
Sorry, I had heard something, Joe Rogan was talking about
how the NCAAs is trying to fit in transgender men into their women's basketball league.
Well, you kind of really don't need to do that because you've got that other thing that
masterpiece doing. Have you seen this?
It's the cross-gender basketball league where it's co-ed basically.
Can I get enough players?
They're trying to, they've already got, I mean, they got the teams named.
The Wisconsin cheeseheads is one of them.
I'm like, really?
Did you find it, Jen?
I've got more stuff.
It was, it's all this alleged stuff, but it was that it was,
I'm trying to read it, FBI with the NCAA.
You've got Arizona's assistant coach, Auburn's assistant, Auburn's head.
Auburn was not for that, yeah.
Oklahoma's state assistant, Lamont Evans, USC assistant, Tony Blan,
South Carolina Gamecocks, I get a university too.
Louisville Cardinals versus university six.
There's just all these different cases and it's Adidas's company one.
In one point, it was $100,000 paid to one family.
Let's see, allegedly a wire, they've got wire transfers.
Company representative allegedly agreed to make two payments
to link $250,000 to recruits to attend schools.
They sponsored, that was Adidas did that.
So some of the fallout from this is Nike is going to come back up again
and Adidas is going to go down.
Yeah, this is getting uglier, it's any prettier.
All right, are we ready to get a list?
Oh, I can't wait.
The list is a little different tonight.
The list is not a list.
But more of an awareness thing for people that do not live in our Fairburg.
We mentioned at the top of the show that this is the opening weekend
for the State Fair of Texas.
And some friends of ours from Fillier and Town,
and with friends of the show, Gary and Leanne Schull,
they pastor Joey and at least Stevens, the other guys with them,
they went to the State Fair tonight because we told them if you come down on the fall,
you have to do the State Fair of Texas.
State Fair season for most states is in July, August.
We do ours in the fall because it's too dog on hot in August.
Exactly.
You also have Oklahoma and Texas both come to this town for a weekend
to play their big rivalry game.
You used to be called the Red River Shootout,
and I was called the Red River Rivalry,
which does not roll off the tongue well.
Not like Dave's France Foods thing, but you know,
Grambling and, Grambling and Prairie View come together.
That'll be next weekend.
And you've got some great concerts next Sunday night at the State Fair.
Wilson Phillips will be in four King and Country playing this year.
Israel Houghton playing this year.
Marin Morris was here to open the Fair Flow Rida playing this year.
There you go.
But one of the things about the State Fair of Texas,
we will fry anything.
Exactly.
And every year, the State Fair of Texas brings on a number of new foods
that they're going to be concessioning.
So what we're going to be talking about tonight,
there's 10 new foods and there's a bunch of other stuff too.
But these are the 10 new foods that they're featuring at the State Fair of Texas this year.
And we're going to start with deep fried chicken noodle soup on a stick.
Home style perfectly spiced chicken noodle soup is deep fried and served on a stick.
Hence the name.
Each bite size morsel, because I'm not going to say they're working,
then Dave's going to go guinea.
We'll have an indention for a spoonful of savory broth sauce to complete the harmony
of the best chicken noodle soup you've ever had.
Certainly the first on a stick.
Each dish is served with a side of crackers.
See what they did there.
Next up, that was by Sherry and Chris Howard.
Next up from Gracie and Milton Whitley.
Are you ready for this, Dave?
This one sounds good.
Deep fried fruit loops.
That's a classic cereal with a state-to-fair twist.
Sweetened fruit loops are folded into whipped marshmallow,
dipped in a creamy batter, fried to a golden brown,
and then topped with a drizzle of glaze and powdered sugar.
Or is I like to call it a coma?
Do you remember those hostess fried pies you can get?
Oh, God, yes.
This looks almost like one of those with fruit loops up inside of it
and a white filling instead of a gel.
It kind of sort of, I can see that.
That's what it looks like to me.
Now, this next one,
I got to say truth in advertising,
because it's called The Fat Smooth.
Three delicious Belgian mini-cream puffs on a skewer
are dipped in cafe Dumas Benier batter,
and then fried until golden brown,
dusted in powdered sugar,
drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce.
Okay, God, it looks delicious.
That's from Tammy Nevin's Maze.
From the Winter Family Concessions,
we have Fernie's fried Texas sheet cake.
Start with a Texas-sized slice of fudgy chocolate brownie cake.
Generously coated in ground cocoa puffs.
You have me.
Ever since vacation,
when I got that cocoa puffs for this time,
the 30% sugar free.
Yeah, it's like nine grams for a bowl.
That's great.
There's people with nine grams for a bowl, bro.
No, not what I'm saying.
Not only ground cocoa puffs,
panko and cinnamon sugar,
the coated brownie is fries,
giving it an ooey gooey molten center
with a crunchy outside.
The delicious fresh from the fryer brownie
is and glazed with a rich,
dark icing made with Dr. Pepper,
sharp as in.
Then the chocolatey glaze
soaks into the warm brownie
while cascading down the sides,
served with chopped Texas pecans,
a dollop of whipped cream,
and garnished with a fresh strawberry.
To mimic a Lady Bird Johnson rose.
It's interesting,
but it's going to cost you like $20 to get it.
Oh no, wait a day.
I think this next one you're in.
From Tom Grace and Edna Sutton,
the funnel cake bacon queso burger.
Yes.
This was the big text choice award winner
for best taste,
savory and most creative.
Begin with two funnel cakes,
as the bun.
The first funnel bun is topped with a juicy
freshly grilled burger patty,
a heaping of,
a heaping helping of crispy bacon
and queso,
completed with another funnel bun
and dusted with powdered sugar,
and the picture I'm seeing
even has a dipping queso on this side.
Russ says he's got two season passes
if anybody wants to go with him.
I'm digging a sip of my beverage.
Now the big test,
excuse me,
the big text choice award winner
for best taste sweet.
Goes to the Gulf Coast fishbowl.
It's pretty in the picture.
A whimsical beverage,
featuring all the flavors
of your favorite tropical coast,
with a kick.
Your drinkable aquarium
please tell me that's alcohol.
Becomes begins with nerds.
So nerds are the gravel.
That's neat.
You with me so far?
Yes.
Then it's iced and filled with a
specially formulated blue alcoholic punch.
Note that's unstable.
That is unstable.
When they don't tell you what it is,
that's unstable.
Swedish fish swim through the ice
while a pineapple slifes serves as the lid.
Each sip brings a stream of crunchy candy
and tropical punch.
Okay.
I don't, I don't do bubble tea.
I don't think I can do this.
Gotta be a sugar coma.
Yeah.
Speaking of sugar coma,
how about pino noir popcorn
by the parish family?
By the way, Clint Probst did the fishbowl.
Pino noir popcorn because
I can get drunk at the movies and only by one thing.
It's a blend of Santa Monica kettle corn
generously dusted with a Pino noir burgundy wine powder
paired with a savory cheddar cheese flavor
to give you the perfect balance of sweet and savory.
I'm not in.
Not into that.
That sounds a little too hipster for me.
Just saying.
Now, now this next one you have my
the Serfen Turfen tater boat.
This is funny.
Stay with me by Melissa and David Harris.
Yes.
Succulent lobster.
You already have me.
Marinated in lemon herb butternut butter
and pardon partnered with seasoned steak
topped with cheddar and Romano cheese
and then stuffed into a baked potato
with roasted garlic butter melted inside.
Topped off with a single Empress cut lobster claw
and a sign a side of lemon butter.
This is the greatest thing I have ever heard.
I don't know that queso funnel cake burger.
It looks amazing.
I can't do the funnel cake.
I can do every bit of this.
And it's going to be expensive
and then you're going to have the hospital bills
when you're arteries clog.
Next up, did we say who gave that to?
Melissa, okay.
The Texas fajita fries from Nick Burt.
Tenderly breaded deep fried beef fajita strips
seasoned with a sriracha spice mix
and served in a bread cone.
Presented on a bed of Texas toothpicks
which are fried onions and jalapenos
with a side of pico and a cool yet spicy sour cream
guacamole hot sauce.
Spicy sour?
Out.
Spicy sour?
Out.
That will hurt both coming in and going out.
And finally,
the tamale donut
from Justin Martinez,
a traditional tamale
and turned it into a not-so-traditional donut.
A classic pork tamale donut starts with slow.
Slow.
See, you have me so far with the
slow-cooked pork carnitas blended with authentic
made from scratch.
And each dish is hand-formed into the donut shape
and fried until crispy on the outside
and soft on the inside.
Finished off with a drizzle of homemade creamy jalapeno salsa.
That sounds nauseating.
But before the sauce, just the donut,
you could probably do it.
Maybe have ketchup for dipping because I'm weird
and put ketchup on my tamales because I'm raw.
And speaking of things,
you know, a fan of the pluckers.
Yeah, huge fan.
How did a server actually challenge me a couple of weeks ago?
And she told me I needed to try the spicy ranch dry rub
and I was like, I don't do spicy.
She's like, no, I'm telling you, it's really good.
She was, if you don't like it, I'll make you whatever you want.
She was right.
Do we put some of that on her fries?
It's, it's-
Hold a phone.
You don't do spicy.
I'm not, you don't have a spicy sauce.
Rob, you eat buffalo wings.
But I eat them mild to medium.
I don't go hot.
With blue cheese the way God intended it.
And I'm lemon pepper or teriyaki on the wings.
So other new things are doing this year.
Fried mango loco.
jalapeno popcorn.
A pineapple float.
I mean, crab meat jalapeno poppers.
Hey now.
Caramel sea salt beer.
What do you think I'm there, Dave?
Our resident beer expert.
Caramel sea salt beer.
No, my, my, my beer does not need to be sweet.
All right.
And it's from Stifler's sweet spot.
Chicken fried spam fries.
I'm in.
I'm in.
That's, that's, that's fried spam.
Like, what else do you need this life?
Exactly.
A white chicken jalapeno poppers.
A veggie hot dog spicy garlic fries.
A grilled chicken burrito.
A shrimp poe boy with sriracha cilantro aoli.
No, thank you.
I'm interested in the Cajun fried devil eggs.
I'm always the fan of the devil egg.
Me too.
Turkey Caesar wrap new for this year at the old, the old mill in restaurant.
Fried cheesecake fried cheesecake stuffed apple sundae.
Fried aros compollo.
A crawfish lollipop.
These are two things that don't go together.
What is a dreamy drug?
Now, hold on, Dave.
You may not be able to have this given who you work for.
But they will be serving Oreo beer.
Ew.
Just saying.
Who's wrong with people?
Merka.
Tipsy topsy catfish on a stick.
They've mentioned the Cajun fried devil eggs.
Deep fried root beer with dragon's breath.
Lawrence's character from house party service.
That's scrumptious pie company.
So that sounds interesting.
scrumptious is local.
They're sort of by where Dave lives.
And they are all right.
They do a good job.
Let's see what else.
Fried El Paso, like the entire town, I guess.
Beef battered beef jerky.
Beer battered beef jerky.
You have my attention here.
Crazy autos.
Russ says you're his kind of person.
I don't know which would part.
I don't know what I did this time.
Deep fried slowva checks.
Garlic pepper jack sausage wrapped with bacon on a stick at darn good corn.
That might be a little too descriptive.
Let's call that like the Steve.
Let's let's let's get that back.
Let's let's bring that down.
Let's unquitter that a little bit.
Deep fried bacon wrapped mozzarella cheese.
I love everything that's going on here.
I'm guessing that's a mozzarella stick wrapped in cheese
and then fried.
So it's a fried mozzarella.
I'm in.
I'm in.
And the dreamy Duncan Soapa Pia Cheesecake bar.
I'm in.
Drunken.
Dreamy drunken.
Oh yeah, drunken Soapa Pia Cheesecake.
Is that what they say?
You're not to pass me.
I'm wondering if it's not like Soapa Pia's stuff with Cheesecake and you can soak it in tequila.
I love everything.
You have my attention on that one.
I'm not a Cheesecake fan, which you mentioned tequila.
I don't know if that's what it is.
I miss tequila a lot.
If that's not what it is, that's what they need to be making.
I'm just saying.
So that's how we do it in Texas, baby.
That's how to stay fair in Texas does it.
And if you if you want to read more about this stuff,
big bigtex.com is the website.
Be honest with you.
I've been trying to find a way to do this for the last few years.
I want to do the podcast of the State Fair of Texas.
That's a podcast bucket list item for me.
I want to do the show at the State Fair of Texas.
So if you're out there and you know how to
get involved, how we will come, we will do the show.
We're not going to ask anything of you.
Just give us some space and some Wi-Fi technology to work with.
Maybe access, like, get us a ticket ticket.
Oh, that would be great.
Yes.
And for those of you that are thinking about coming to Texas,
the State Fair of Texas is a great time to come and do that.
Speaking of people coming to Texas,
may have a little something coming up at the end of this month.
We're not ready to talk about just yet.
I got a private message on Facebook yesterday.
A very interesting opportunity may be coming our way.
That I'm very, very excited about.
So we'll talk about it off air.
But go to the State Fair of Texas.
It's so much fun.
You get to see, I love going to like the Car Exhibit
and walking around.
I was a big fan of that.
Whatever the butter sculpture is this year.
I have to send a shout out to my friend Lance on the Car Exhibit
because he decided we were in her 20s and he decided to be funny to scoot his boots along
and get static and went to shock me.
And while his finger was still about an inch away, it shocked.
And you could actually see.
And the clothing I was wearing actually had a brown burn mark.
Oh, goodness.
Mercy.
And I ended up with a really cold punch in the face.
It's a happy memory between because he didn't mean for it to be like that.
And he was debating doing it.
It was about to pull away right.
And you can and you'll have really cool exhibits within the exhibits.
Because I know like three years ago in the Car Exhibit,
one of the car manufacturers was sponsor meetings.
It was right when Man of Steel came out and they had an entire exhibit
of all original Superman costumes, including Christopher Reeves.
Yes, I remember that.
That was really neat.
That was really cool.
And you don't have to hit the midway for this to be a good time.
What an interesting one.
Stay away from the midway.
Yeah, I didn't even know.
Midway Barker's drive me crazy.
I didn't even know that existed until I was in high school.
I thought everything was all the arts and the crafts and the beer biscuits
and that's what I knew.
My wife, a big fan of the roasted corn at the State Fair.
It's a yummy.
I got to get my fletcher's corny dog.
You got to get a corn dog.
And it's got to be a fletcher's corn dog.
Oh, yeah.
That's the main thing.
Do they still do the fletcher's cheese dog?
That I don't know.
OK.
But I love for some reason, I don't know why I can't reproduce a myself
but the barbecue baloney sandwich.
It's a big thick cut of baloney.
They drown it in barbecue sauce and put it between pieces of white bread.
And it's the greatest thing ever.
It's just one of the things I have to have.
I'm going to go say fair.
I just do.
I love to say fair so much.
You buy your tickets.
Like you can take the dart rail there because it drops off right
in the front and you can buy your tickets on their app
while you're on the way down there.
You don't have to stand in line.
And you can buy.
Yeah, you can buy your.
Then you get in there and you get your coupons.
Well, and can't you do the coupons online this year for this stuff?
I was thinking you could buy that.
That would be a smart way to do it.
Yeah, I thought that's what they were saying.
I don't know.
Buy your food and ride coupons online and pick them up
at the hospitality center when you arrive.
So 100 coupons is $50.
This is on the big text.
All of your coupons are worth $0.50.
And I'm looking at bigtex.com.
Be it B-I-G-G-T-E-X.
That's the official website for the safe air Texas.
And it has directions in parking.
It has tickets.
So you can buy your tickets.
And then you can get your coupons.
So you don't even have to have cash on you.
You don't have to when you're there because you can put them on a card now.
Well, that's true.
So, but I mean, if you're on a tighter budget,
you can make sure you stay within that budget this way,
because that helps everyone.
Right.
Safe air Texas, which means it's fall.
And I'm telling you, today was kind of warm.
But yesterday was gorgeous.
And we're going to be in the 70s and 80s all week.
And it's running now through October 22nd.
I know.
That's just fall.
We got a nice cool weather.
We got football.
Yeah, you head out to the state fair.
You stop off at Starbucks, pick up your pumpkin spice latte,
and walk in.
Or medicine ball.
You go out and sand.
All right, let's do the plugs and get out of here.
