Our friend Paul did a little singing as well.
Met some more friends for the 10th Lepper band as well.
Had a great time down there.
Raise a lot of money for those kids and we're very excited for them.

Emmy nominations came out this past week and somebody made a killing.
Oh, quite a few people made a killing. Breaking bad orange is the new black fargo and game of
thrones went nuts. That's what I'm talking about. But people behind Hannibal very upset. A lot of people
are upset that Hannibal got blanked. But the thing about the Emmys, especially the prime time
enemies are so many categories. Well, you know, it's like the Golden Globe is like we're now
an hour nine. If your show doesn't make it, it doesn't mean that your show is not good.
It's just, it's not great enough to be with the ones that did, you know, come on.
There's lots of movies that don't get known here for best picture and how many people here
are them squawking about it. Isn't Hannibal like on just local TV? It doesn't be so.
Yeah, but how is it going to compete with a show on HBO or cable? It's a reason modern family
won best comedy. Like three years run in Big Bang Theory. But, but I mean, but you see what you're saying.
Look at the ones that got the most out of it. Yeah, look at that next level. Yeah, look at the ones that
curse and take because Orange this new is a new black is a Netflix show and game of friends is an
HBO. But that wasn't even they weren't even there wasn't even a Netflix show nominated until last year
House of cards. Yeah, yeah, very first one ever. And of course
Showing that you can't find the word gullible in a dictionary. I don't know if you heard this story
speaking of Orange at the new black. Oh, oh, Empire Empire dot com, which is like the onion.
So you already know where we're going with this. Mm-hmm. Published as the story yesterday
saying Orange is the new black has been canceled by Netflix
because the the founder of Netflix wants more guys on the show
said in a woman's prison and I was like this seems fishy to me. Yeah, when I heard about it
and I thought it's more yes, it was a hoax. So yeah, a lot of people freaking out

Another big announcement from the cast of arrow
season three is getting huge
not only are we going to get the atom this year who will be played by one brand in Ruth?

She works at one of the local radio stations really mm-hmm and of in a fairly decent, you know
job title
But the amount of time that she's allowed to contribute there is
slim to none and
The sad thing is that's where her passion is her passion is broadcasting

But I brought up to her
What we are doing right now right and you should have seen the look on this girl's face really
I'm currently one of the millions and I'm hoping I did texture and encouraged her to listen to night
She's a little person whose name chat is not so yeah, you're an early family. Oh hell of a
Sweet girl went to school with Megan back when she was in great school
and
You know, she has other interest. She's she does piercings and she's into tattooing and stuff like that
But she really wants to pursue a future in radio and
I told her I said well
Unfortunately
You're kind of trying to jump into this. You're about 20 years less as as as radio is gasping its last breath
Terrestrial radio anyway
But you know, you and I have both experimented and and enjoyed
Listening to satellite radio
big fans but you know with the whole oh an a scandal that happened recently
You know even that is been falling on some shaky legs and we won't go in a detail on that because I don't know
We think we need to talk about last week. Yeah. Yeah. I just know no sense in bringing it up again
but
You know
You think that you've got your your whole I can say what I want do what I want there and no
repercussions and they found out well at least Anthony and Kumi
I found out the hard way that not necessarily you know you do still have to watch what you say and who you say it do
And so when I told her what kind of freedom
Podcasting gives you and it does that they I was pointing to my laptop
I'm like you want to know with a future of radio lies that's it right there okay
um
And you know as as much as we we have enjoyed this whole for a considering that this is
Episode you know episode one of season five two hundred and sixty plus the
I mean we we do this like we wouldn't you win in a great deal
Detail about this last week that we don't do this because it makes us a ton of money. It doesn't make us at time
We lose money on this thing but we love doing it and we're hoping that it will lead to something bigger in grander
somewhere down the road
But if you have a true passion for doing something like this and it doesn't really make a difference to you
Whether it pays the bills or not
This is where your future in radio really is because it's it's a fiercely competitive market
It's cut throat doggy dog
More often than not you wind up working in an apartment of a station that's out in Timbuck somewhere
You know you're you're working nowadays anyway you're working you know the graveyard shift playing old Hank Williams records and you know and you're a speed metal freak
That's gonna drive you insane
But here
on this medium
You pick the format yep you pick the hours at your on yep you pick what you play well in some cases in most cases in podcasting
Yes, um, there are certain broadcasting websites. It's like we're on you stream
You stream really doesn't care what we do or when we do it, right? But there are other sites and I don't want to mention anything
Talk radio
Where
You they basically they tell you
If you want to be on at this time you can but if you want to be on this time you have to pay us for it
Which I think is kind of crappy it is but but but it's still it's not it's not prohibiting you from doing it period
You can still do it. It's just constantly a couple of months
You know, so that's not you know if that's what's stopping you then you know
You'll pick another pick another medium to broadcast on or pick another you know streaming surface or something
There are a ton of them out there or you can just go strictly on iTunes
You know or just put it up on your own website. You know, it's the you are limited only by
You know the constraints of your technological know how and that's where some people I think really fall into
They'd love to do it but they don't have the slightest clue as to where to start and that's kind of where she is
Okay
I'd kind of like to you know take her under our wing a little bit and coach her into because she is really
Really fired up about it. I'm okay
It was not the first time we've done that right the last
That's that's part of the genius of what we do is and and even if I did terrestrial radio
I'm not above helping somebody else get there get their feet under him right somebody did it for us
Exactly, you know, I why wouldn't we want to pay that forward right you know is you know
Given how much it has done for us

spiritually
You know the friends that we've made
The things that we've been able to do you know the things that we've gotten gotten access to just because this is what we're doing as a hobby
To me, I would you know, I would want anybody that I would consider a friend of mine to experience
Something like this because there's a lot of joy in it absolutely there really is it's like it's like
I feel like this is our child and
We're watching it grow and go to school and into kindergarten. Yeah, and take its first steps. You know, it's it's a wonderful process
It can be painful at times, but it's also something that and I think a lot of people

What in which you have to understand is
This isn't something that happens overnight no and there's a lot of shunny people that get into this thing that think
I'm gonna be a YouTube sensation after one post or I'm gonna be a pod
I'm you know, I'm gonna be Kevin Pollock or I'm gonna be
The heart of Philip DeFranco or after two weeks and it's not like that
What you have to understand is podcasting truly right now
I'm is still in its wild wild west stage where
There's a ton of podcasts. I don't know that there's any podcast that I would really truly consider unique
Because there's so many out there repetition is very very easy to do exactly
I like to think that there are certain podcasts
I think our podcasts from a technical standpoint is at least ahead of the curve
I wouldn't I would say where the best but I like to think that we're ahead of the curve because I've heard some podcasts that
Audio quality is terrible and there's no production value right somebody in front of a laptop and a microphone and that's it
But I agree that the terrestrial radio is on life support right now
I can't tell you the last time I spent more of in 20 minutes on terrestrial radio much less 20 minutes in a shot
Usually the only time I hear terrestrial radio is when I turn my car on because I'm waiting for it to find my iPod
or I'm I'm listening to

Yeah, but I do love us in the talk. It's kind of intellectually stimulating talk radio
Sometimes it's a good break from music music music music
Sometimes I just want to listen to a podcast and it kind of cleanses the palette a little bit
And you know part of it's research for this show because it gives me ideas of stuff that we can do
Because I guarantee you a lot of the podcast community does that
We listen to each other show. Oh, you know, I could do that on my show. Yeah, like that number four not taking naps
I don't like naps
What really I do not like naps. I thought I would as I got older
Because here's my thing with taking a nap
Number one, I can't just take like a 20 minute nap. I can't do it because it takes me 30 minutes to fall asleep
So if I do fall asleep and take a nap when I wake up
It's like I'm re-waking up all over again. All right, and I'm just grumpy and I'm sluggish
I don't like it. Don't like it even a little bit now there has been times in my life very isolated times
Where I've been able to power nap and feel great, but I can count those number of times on one hand with fingers left over
Like in college, I could do that. I can't do it now
If I'm if I'm taking a nap, I'm down for the count brother, and I'm calling it a day
Number three being at home
I just like being at home
When I was younger, I'm like hey, I'm gonna be mad about 10. Hey, hey, hey, ladies. It's going on. Hey, lady
No, I really wasn't but still
I just I like being at home, and I think it's because I worked in the bar scene for so long
Then I've just kind of gotten that out of my system
I'm just unhappy just hanging at the house having people come hang out watching TV
You know breakout a board game if I'm feeling saucy, you know
I just like being at home
Number two gas mileage
I'm finding
Kind of the miles to gallon the again on that thing
Like when I get uh
When I get gas, I actually look at my because I reset my tripodometer every time I get gas because I want to see what kind of gas mileage I'm getting
I don't know why
But when gas is almost four bucks and gallon you want to know these
And number one
Documentaries. Yes, when I was a kid
I would not sit through a documentary if you paid me to
I couldn't do it I couldn't do it
But now probably within the last five years
I'm really enjoying a good documentary. I can't watch a documentary on anything
There are certain things that I watch documentary if it's a subject that interests me that's one thing
But other than that not so much
It's sure I was like she loves being home, especially when you have that home that you work so hard to build the makeup on

You know and I just you know I see friends about like hey, man, let's go to this
I'll come here for a couple hours, but you know then it turned into a pumpkin
And I thought I was just turning into a hermit, but I think it's just
You know, it's just like she says you work hard and hope work hard to make your house a home and right and you want to spend time there
Yeah, well it's a reason I call it a comfort zone. Yeah, that is true
Well, especially when you're gone most of the day
You mean five out of at least five days and I'll be doing a line
I mean, I never thought I'd see the day where I really understood what we get and so
And I've become that guy man this week of this take it's not nearly long
But then you realize well people like will we have Mondays off well then Tuesday becomes Monday and
You can't win for losing trust me in this one 40 hours turns into jam pack and 32 hours
