It is 8 o'clock on the east coast. It is 5 o'clock on the west coast. It is the 18th
of April in the year of our Lord 2020 for season 14 episode 25 660 times. You have been
welcome to the clubhouse podcast live every Thursday night as long as we can make it happen.
And if you saw the name of tonight's episode, we got a lot of stuff to cover. Don out on
assignment tonight. So tagging in that way is my co-host and a man who got the outfit
memo this morning. He is Alex. I want to clarify there was no outfit memo. He just happens
to be a favorite color for you. And I wanted to give credit to friends of the show on their
show with the matinee heroes.
Asked off shirt. That is a snazzy shirt. I'm a big fan. Shout out to Alan and Craig who
do a great job every Saturday. You never know when one of us is going to pop up as I did
a few weeks ago. It's a great show where they talk about film. And it's just a lot of
fun to hang out with those guys. And so make sure that you're subscribing to matinee heroes,
new episodes every Saturday. And they they theme every month. They've done a ton of episodes.
I've never been bored with a single one because they really do know what they're doing. And
that's why they have us on to balance that out. So before we get into this, we're going
to talk about the title of tonight's show. It is part one of the double feature to
night. We will be covering the sports piece. We will also be covering the wrestling piece.
However, we're not going to be, where the heck is my phone? Okay. We're not going to be
covering the other piece of it because the pop culture piece and the entertainment piece
come tomorrow night. Now wait a minute, Rob. You know, you do the show on Thursday. Why are you
doing show tomorrow? First of all, because we can. It's our world. You'll just paint, right?
But tomorrow night, Alex tags out Don pseudo tags in because tomorrow night, we will be broadcasting
live at seven Eastern four Pacific, our old time slot from the USA Film Festival.
From the Angelica Film Center in Mockingbird Station, we will be there tomorrow night,
broadcasting live with some filmmakers about the USA Film Festival. It's a big deal every year.
We're very much looking forward to it. The configuration is going to look a little bit different.
We're going to be experimenting with some new tech. I'm very excited about this. I wish Alex was
there, but I know he's got some stuff that he's got to take care of. And then Saturday,
you can come hang out with me if you're here in the DFW area. I will be at Dallas comic show
at the Vistamall in Lewisville talking to some great guests. It's a stellar lineup. If you're a
fan of anime, if you're a fan of, I don't know, pro wrestling, you listen to this show. Sean Stacey
will be there. If you're a fan of Birds of Prey, if you remember the series on Warner Brothers
back in the day when it was, I think it was still the WB at that point. It was not a new PN. I don't
remember. But I'll say that was the WB Ashley Scott, who has a very interesting distinction as it
relates to this show that I'll be talking to her about on Saturday, Saturday night at the Texas
theater. We will be having I will not be there, but there's a screening of Mean Streets with one of
its stars who is going to be there. And why did I just have a brain lock on his name, but I'm going
to fix that right now. What happened? Oh, it didn't. Okay, there we go. David Proval,
who has a very storied career. I'm going to be talking to him during the day, but then Mean Streets
will screen at the Texas theater Saturday night. Sunday night, I will be there at 530 for a
screening of Toy Story 3 with John Morris, who was the voice of Andy in all of those films with
a Q&A. A lot going on in the next 72 hours tonight, Alex tonight, tomorrow night, six o'clock
central. We will be on air from the USA Film Festival. Next weekend kicks off the Dallas
International Film Festival. We are locking down final details on that to be able to do a live
broadcast from there. We will let you know the particulars on that as soon as we have them.
Okay. And you think yourself, okay, Rob, maybe you can get into the show. Not yet, my friend,
because we have a major announcement for most of you.
So last weekend, I had a thought as I was coming home from church. And I called Alex. And I was
like, hey, man, let me run this by you and tell me if I'm off base. And so I ran my idea past
Alex. And he was like, no, dude, that doesn't sound off base. See, but you can find out. So
since it's been almost a year since we no longer have vocal anymore. And I have struggled with
how to get the podcast outside of where we currently have it on Facebook, on YouTube, on Twitch.
Because for those of you that don't know how podcasts work on the backend, let me pull the
curtain back for you a little bit. For you to be able to get a podcast from who you're your
favorite podcasters, of course, that being us. But places like Apple do not store that. You have
to store that in your own server space and have what's called an RSS feed. That RSS feed location,
which also has to be on the internet, connects to iTunes. That is the gateway when you find a
show on iTunes and you follow it, it's that RSS feed that is stored by the hosts or whomever's
producing the podcast, which is where you get the podcast from. There is a cost involved in that.
As I used to absorb that cost before there was a vocal once we had vocal, there was no need for
me to do that. Now that we don't have vocal, it was a lot of me trying to figure out, okay,
I want to get us back so that our members of the empire that like to listen to the audio version
because I've always said I have the perfect face for radio. How can they get it back without
me incurring more cost because you know, builds. So I have a Dropbox account and I was like, well,
what would be the difference between a server at somewhere like GoDaddy and just what I already have
with Dropbox. So I found out, yes, you can do that. So I found a service. It's called Jumpcast.
I'm just going to put it out there. No free ads, but for a very affordable cost, they have not only
helped us out with that piece of it, but they are actually writing the RSS feed for us much in the
way that I used to have another service that did that back in the day, but this is a lot easier.
So our huge major announcement tonight is as follows. If you are somebody that prefers to have
the audio version only of the show because you're on the go. You like to listen to podcasts in
the car. We get that. You can do that now. If you up there in the QR code, Alex has added the links
for Apple podcasts, Spotify and Amazon music. We are on all three of those services now. We're
very excited about this. Just look up the Clubhouse podcast. Look for the logo. You'll know it because
Alex in my name is on there. We're very excited to announce this. So go out there, follow the podcast.
We're very much looking forward to to our members of the Empire Ricardo. I see. Thank you, brother.
We are we're I'm excited. I was texting Alex like there was no tomorrow on Sunday night that I
was doing all the things and shout out the jumpcast. They make it really easy for you to be able to
produce your podcast for $9 a month. You can actually have two different podcasts that they will
take care of for you. Now, there are some other links within jumpcast. They have to update because
stitches in their stitches, not a thing anymore. Google podcast is not a thing anymore. So just be
aware of those things, but they do a fantastic job. It took me a little bit to just find everything.
Once I did, it's going to be fantastic. We're looking forward to having you and we can sort it by
season. It's awesome. They did a fantastic job. Thank you, jumpcast. Okay. I go ahead, Alex. Yep.
Use it to our code. QR code's got everything. I for once welcome our QR codes. Let's dive in.
We're like I said, we're doing sports and wrestling tonight. Everything else. Mar or night
from the Angelica. Come hang out at the Angelica with us. Look at look at look at Ricardo giving us
the clap clap clap clap clap clap. Love it. Love it. And remember, when you're live with us, we've got
the whether you're on Facebook, whether you're on YouTube, whether you're on Twitch, we have the
live chat available and we're watching it the whole time. So we love to interact with the empire
because the empire's cool. They said it couldn't be done. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney said,
we accept your challenge. Shout out to Rexam promoted again to ice in two years after 40 years
without a promotion. Y'all Paul Mullin is a beast. Well, and you look how close they are to some
certain leagues now. And the what what did McElhenney call it, the 20 year goal is now there in what
five years just about? Well, and I wonder if that's why they delayed the season premiere of Rex
and that they pumped it back the two or three weeks. And I wonder because they wanted to make sure
they had everything that it could last long enough for the full season. I'm wondering.
Well, I also wonder if there is another aspect where they said, let's keep everything,
all the premiere stuff after the main table is run so that they can just focus on the pitch. And
I wonder if that is part of it. And as per normal Ryan Reynolds gets tweet of the week, I don't
if you saw this, there was a story in the news of a guy who stole a car. And then he got into a wreck
and the person he had the wreck with is a woman who was also in a stolen car. And Ryan Reynolds
responses, this is the rom com that I need. Love that man. I'm going to go out and say he kind of
has the stroke to get that made on his own. Well, and that and they had another one on Instagram
was the last week or week before with with everybody but him and his family and talking about
these are the people that make my life complete. And I'm nothing without them. And like,
life is in the picture too. I just want to like that's the reality show we need.
That is the reality show. See, the problem is is I don't know if that's the reality show we need
or if it's just the fact that much like we've had to do it at different events where it's like
you turn it on, turn it off or where it's like just low heat. Whereas you get them in the reality
show and it's just I'm funny or online. It's just like what do you do? It's not what you do.
Also huge news in the NHL this week. I might actually get the name of the coyotes right.
Since you have to do it one more time. Well, last night was allegedly the very last
night that they are playing in the state of Arizona as they are moving to Salt Lake City, Utah.
I have heard some of the names and just keep them the coyotes. Go ahead, sir. So it's not
allegedly. It's done. It has been signed off by the owners. They are SLC bound. I have not seen
any of the names, but the thing that I hate the most is part of the move to Salt Lake City.
They are dropping coyotes. They are dropping the history.
Because fun fact, even though the Winnipeg Jets are back in the NHL historically, Winnipeg Jets
history from its early run is tied to the Arizona coyotes. So when they are not taking coyotes or
any of the history with them, Salt Lake City, that means it's the end of one of the longest
reigning franchises or longest running franchises in the NHL.
Ricardo says the Salt Lake Seagulls, that is not one of the five.
I have them if you would like them. Well, I don't know if you're aware of this,
but there aren't any seas for the goals. That is a fascinating fact, though, about the coyotes.
Yeah, it angers me. It truly angers me because you think about it. Yes, the Winnipeg Jets were
just the absolute bottom rung for many years, but you have the Gritsky years. You have the
aspect of ice in the desert and proving that it can work. The state bird is actually the seagull.
That can't be right. Hey, he's, he's chai. It's a Mormon thing. I just got that.
No, we're not, we're not entertaining this. Let's just let the seagull check him in.
Okay, which was done on HTTGM a couple of months ago. You're talking about the Gritsky years,
my friend, but yes, but all of the stuff that has happened throughout that franchises history,
ceasing to be, I have a hard time with that. Would you like the five names that were sent to
the US Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday? Are we going to judge them in real time?
Yes. Okay, do you want to do it scale one to ten, ten being that's got to be the name, one being
who every single person that should be fired? I'm going to do this in the order descending to
ascending of what I like. Okay, so that just kind of gives away your rankings a little bit.
Doesn't give away the actual ranking there. First up, the Utah Fury, and they're going after
the entire state. They're not going to name them Salt Lake City for what it has been applied for.
I figured that was going to be the case. Even if Fury is not a terrible name, it's not,
it sounds a bit too much like a national women's soccer league team, but maybe a beer league
softball team, say it's right in the middle at about a five or six. I'm sitting about a three.
And by the way, this was reported by Detroit Hockey, I'm assuming.com because it's all one word.
Also reported by KSL Sports. Next up, the Utah Venom.
I did actually see this one. I thought it was a joke. I like this one less than Fury.
Would they be sponsored by an energy drink? Well, I would be more curious to be
do they get sponsored by Disney or Sony actually owns the rights on that one for now.
For now. Cut the check, Sony. You're cut the check, Disney.
Tom Hardy just shows up at one game goes, nah. Next up, the Utah Blizzard sponsored by Dairyqueer.
That could get us a Yeti mascot again, but that would be good. I would say like, okay,
so for me, Venom is down at like a four. It's about where I'm at. It's Blizzard.
Gotta be sponsored by Dairyqueen. But it's around the five or six range. It's about where it's
for me. Now, the last two are kind of one in one A because they're basically the same thing.
I'll see. So basically, you think they have it dialed in. It's just a matter of specific.
You'll understand here in a second. Okay. I'm going to give you both of them
because I like group of them. Even though it's terminology that I connect to another sport,
we have Utah HC and Utah hockey club. That's the same thing. Right. That's what I'm saying.
It's a one in one A, but it's also terminology normally reserved for another sport,
being soccer or football. I like it because like it's better than Utah, Jazz. But
I will never forget the base gift ball line. The New Orleans Jazz moved to Utah where they
don't allow music. Yeah. Although I wanted to go back to New Orleans, but I also like to say
fly pelican. So it's not that you would throw it in there like that would be better.
That's the problem when you're dealing with we're in Delaware. Look at us. We're in Delaware.
You don't know enough about Utah to be able to say, but sir, aren't you their governor?
That doesn't mean I have to know about it. Modern policy just means I run things.
But I like it just like I always liked Washington football team because I thought that was cool.
I kind of I have to say Ricardo, that's a no go. That's already that's already trademarked. Yes, but
Elon monsters are already trademarked for the Vegas Golden Knights.
I mean, we're going to see what it's going to be.
Apparently they were playing in an arena called the Molet arena at one point. Yeah.
So I like I got to need this.
Can I get a stop suggesting games that are already used by other teams?
The Utah osmins. Let's do that. They showed up when the winter Olympics were there.
They were part of the the thing. I know it made me think of the Utah boggains.
Oh, I like that. Very nice. I don't even like it. It's my joke.
Would you like your other wheels off stat about the NHL playoffs?
Hit me because I love wheels off NHL stats since there's no wheels.
So the other night, the capitals are playing the Red Wings.
The flyers can't remember who they were playing.
But Tortorrala pulls his goalie to try to win in regulation to get them to the playoffs.
The other team scores an open netter.
What Tortorrala didn't know is that 30 seconds earlier, but
right, both of the other teams were eliminated from the playoffs so it didn't matter.
And Washington gets in.
Here's the stat though. The Washington prize to North America's favorite game show.
The Washington capitals at a minus 37 is the lowest goal differential for an NHL
playoffs team since I was a senior in high school.
33 years ago, I wasn't going to say it. I had a separate comparison that I was letting lie.
I feel like I need to mute him for a while now. No, no, we need it.
So to me, that's crazy.
Yeah, it's.
But it's one of those things with the NHL, you do what you think is best.
And as much as people are hating on Tortorrala right now,
the man has earned his flowers as a coach. It's just been a little bit. Yeah.
But I mean, plus he's focusing on the game that's in front of him. Yeah.
Trying to get in the playoffs. He's not checking his phone.
You know, he doesn't have people in his ear going, don't worry about his manner anyway.
Actually, I don't think they're allowed to have that kind of contact.
All they have is the out of town, like it on other sports.
And he's just, he's focusing on the ice.
Would you like to give your final prediction for North America's favorite game show?
Because I got it on the screen.
You know what? It's a game of one.
So make the shot.
What? I'm sorry.
What is the final goal differential for the San Jose Shadows?
Give me an even 140 minus 140.
Okay. Let me give you who's close to them.
At the closing quotations, right?
The worst in the Eastern Conference is the Columbus Blue Jackets at minus three.
Minus 63. Remember that.
Oh, in the Western Conference.
Anaheim at minus 94.
The black hawks at minus 110.
The San Jose Sharks still have a game to play tonight because tonight is the actual last night of
the regular season.
They are currently 1953 and nine.
They are 50 points, 53 and nine.
You heard that correctly.
They are 50 points below the red line.
They are 1125 and five at home.
They are 828 and four on the road.
That's fairly consistent, bad, but consistent.
You did come up under.
Okay.
Because remember last week, it was 136.
It was 137, 137.
It's now minus 146.
Oh my god, that's only like three games.
That's mailing it in.
That point is like just score.
We're good with it.
No, that's like, okay, we're not going to be able to celebrate anything.
But you better believe those ads next season are going to be like, hey,
do you like scoring?
It may not be us, but come on down to the shark tank.
So we had 10 teams finish above the century mark.
I did read that in 2017, we had 11.
Okay.
So what we thought was an anomaly may or may not be.
I tried three different types of Google searches and it just kept giving me that.
Yeah.
So sometimes around now, Google food does not do well because there's so many people looking
up so many things for the end of the season.
The NBA is still having their playing games.
Miami is player lose tomorrow night against Chicago and Sacramento and Fly Pelican with
Zion Lollins and going out again.
And then Jimmy Butler.
Yeah, but he's losing Jimmy Butler.
So we're going to see how this goes.
Right now, you've got those two games going on.
Your other matchups in the Eastern Conference.
Cleveland will take on Orlando.
Milwaukee will take on Indiana.
Congratulations to the Pacers.
And the Nix will take on Philly, which will be I think a fun series to watch.
On in the Western Conference, the Clippers will take on Dallas.
Minnesota will take on the Suns and Denver and the Lakers.
So you got that going for you, which is nice.
Would you like the
as you would put it feels off that from the NBA season?
Please do.
So as we
during North America's favorite game show, we would kind of if you could see it in one light
bag on the San Jose sharks for being terrible, what we have seen is Detroit has been
all-time terrible this season in the NBA.
I would love to know.
Go back a year from prior, a year prior from today.
And if somebody had placed a bet that the Detroit pistons would have the identical amount of wins
to the Detroit Lions on the season, I would have loved to know what this was.
Wow.
That is fantastic.
Both teams won 14 games this season.
That is outstanding.
Now I am so glad I didn't tell you.
This is why I don't want you to tell me these things.
I saw that and it broke my brain.
I was like hold on a second.
Teen and 68.
And I believe, nope, there is one.
There's one team worst point differential than them in the two in the Eastern Conference.
Because their point differential was a minus 9.1.
Charlotte was minus 10.2, Washington minus 9.3.
And then the Western Conference, Portland, 9 even.
And yeah, and then you've got recorded like 20 years ago, they beat the Lakers.
It's just, oh man alive.
Ben Wallace, arguably the best all-time center not drafted in the NBA.
So this is what we got for the next couple of months because, you know, got the playoffs
and then we'll fire up baseball in a couple of weeks.
So look at that lineup.
Rip Hamilton, Rashid Wallace, Ben Wallace, Shantay Prince, and Larry Brown.
Have you ever heard the connection Larry Brown has to a certain ESPN host?
Shouldn't it be Tashon, Prince?
Yeah, probably.
I think so.
But do you know that his connection to a certain personality on the ESPN?
I apologize. Who's connection?
Larry Brown.
I feel like I should know this.
He was a summer camp counselor for one Tony Cornheiser when he was a kid.
I did not know that one.
Because every time they mentioned Larry Brown, it's like my son or camp counselor.
Well, but the hard part I have with that, and it speaks well of Larry Brown.
It not so much on Cornheiser, but I would have guessed they were the same age.
I know.
I thought Cornheiser might have been older.
Every time somebody brings up Larry Brown, and I'm just like, I can't wrap my brain around that.
I can't.
It does not make sense.
All right, let's get into pro wrestling.
This Saturday is TNA Rebellion.
This is an actual pay per view.
So I will not be able to watch it because I'm not now.
They are TNA plus is offering 25% off their Uber package
that where you get it with the pay per views, but it's still $160 a year.
So I can't drop that kind of coin all at one time.
If they would do a monthly, that would do that for me.
I would strongly consider it.
I can't drop that kind of coin all at one time.
Not right now.
But in that Josh Alexander versus Hammerstone will be last man standing.
Well, this is their third go around, I believe.
And Hammerstone is bull heel.
Oh yeah, and a lot of people have been liking what has been going on
between Hammerstone and Alexander.
But we've known those two guys know how to go for years.
And our best to Matt Cardona, he is an ex surgery today.
He did come through the surgery, but he's going to be out for a while.
Which unfortunately, it looked like he was getting set up for a major program
in a couple of the indie markets that he had to tell them that he couldn't go
because of what was found to be a torn back.
Let's talk AW first because I got less to talk about there.
I think you just described the state of professional wrestling right now.
You're not wrong.
Congratulations to Ruby Soho after they went off Dynamite's hair last night.
She did announce that she is pregnant.
And allegedly, she and Angela Parker are really a thing.
And have been for a while, allegedly, all I've read.
No, God bless those kids.
Muzzle top.
Hey, if you're happy and you ain't hurting nobody, do it.
Have you seen your latest all elite wrestling signing?
A legend has signed.
I don't know that I have seen this, but I am worried.
Well, he should be worried at pay per views.
Carlos Cabrera is all elite.
So watch their announce table, my friend.
Okay, I did see this.
Yeah, I thought you were going somewhere else with it.
But yeah, no, I think it's great.
I like him.
I always like watch.
I can't, of course, I don't speak Spanish,
but watching them react to things at ringside.
Guys, a legend.
It's the energy.
It's the energy.
I mean, I don't know if you did it,
but I used to turn on Telemundo and watch AAAA
or whatever we were getting over from Puerto Rico.
And I was like, no, I don't understand.
95% of these words, but they're having fun.
And so am I.
Did you, you are, you are, you spent time in the same section
of the country I did growing up.
But there was a show that was PBS back in the day
that actually helped me learn some Spanish.
Because I was in Spanish and half of it was in English.
It was like a sitcom.
It was called Kepasa USA.
I do remember that.
I did not watch it though.
It took me.
Ricardo says there's another signing.
I haven't, if it's who you're, I think you're referring to,
I have not heard that on an official level.
I've heard that it is all but done.
Oh, he's about Rob, Rob Schemberg.
Yes, I did read that.
He's actually doing art for eight.
That dude does amazing work.
I love it.
But there, yeah, I was thinking he was talking about somebody,
somebody's that might be in the ring.
Yes, and that's like you said, everything, but they ink signed.
But the other one that I noticed, interestingly enough,
during Dynamite, did you...
And I apologize if I'm jumping too far ahead.
Did you happen to notice who swirled landed on
in the group of security guards?
I only saw the end of that spot,
but you know how much I detest that spot, right?
Oh, I 100% agree with you on that.
The way he did it was cool because it wasn't,
I'm just going to fall on everybody.
Like he did a full out split, like letting you know,
I am taking out everybody.
I don't care.
I like the way he did it.
Don't do it a lot, but I like the way he did it.
But he has a main crash pad,
former NML, W National Open Weight Champion, Calvin Tankman.
Oh, wow.
So if you go back and look at it,
Tankman is the one that's holding everybody together,
but only looking away from the ring,
while the other security guard tells him the spot.
Oh, and also back to TNA for a second,
there is a new member of the rascals.
Did you see this?
No.
I think you'll be impressed.
You know, I don't dig the rascals thing.
Well, but given who it is,
I know that you enjoyed his work somewhere else.
Myron Reed is a member of the rascals now.
Okay, he is actually bloated through with the rascals
in other places.
So that's not surprising him officially being,
let's call him the Wesley replacement.
Yeah, but I like him.
No, he's a great worker.
Let's see.
Dynasty is this Sunday.
I'm conflicted.
I'm intrigued.
I'm not going to be home in time to really watch any of it
because I'm not staying up till, you know,
past midnight because by the time I get home and fire it up,
even if I bought it,
they do four-hour pay-per-views.
So that's a long night.
Off air discussion.
I'm not saying it on air.
Okay, fair enough.
Congratulations to John Moxley.
He is your IDGP heavyweight champion
after New Japan's windy city riot.
The pictures of him and Renee backstage are wonderful.
You know what the funny thing is,
I can't put my finger on it,
but that title looks legit on Moxley,
where it looked like a trinket on Naito in Okata
and even doing an extent on Osprey
and definitely on Sonata.
It looks like a legitimate title,
rather than just a belt you buy for kids.
I can't argue with what Ricardo is saying.
The matches he's interested in,
Danielson versus Osprey, of course, and Joe Swerve.
There's really nothing else on that card
that makes me go.
I gotta be totally honest.
This card has me.
It absolutely has me in almost every match.
Now, don't get me wrong.
We've already seen FDR in the box,
but I don't believe we've seen them in a latter match,
so let's see what they can get with creatively.
The only ones I don't think I'm really into
are the Trio's matches.
Everything else I can get on board with.
Do not go looking for rampage tomorrow night
because it won't be on because of the NBA playoffs.
It will air after rampage, I mean, after collision.
Another night of three hours of aid
because battle of the belts, 10.
Well, at least they don't have to compete
with the NCAA tournament.
Well, we're going to talk about that a little bit too,
given something that was said yesterday.
WrestleDream now rumored to be October 12th
at the Tacoma Dome.
I read that earlier today.
You know, that tells me at least one of those matches
might have a definitive ending.
And I'm happy for it.
Ricardo says they're trying to merge the Trio's titles.
I don't want them to let ROH be ROH.
I don't think that they're actually going to be merging them.
I think this is going to be we want
the most interesting trio on AEW proper.
And I think this is going to be setting up for a separate deal.
I think they're getting ready to try to hard separate ROH.
And because bang bang gang and the acclaimed
are definitively AEW property in that scope
because that's where they appear more often.
I think we're about to get a wholesale separation for ROH,
which is why we have Mark with the world title,
Athena who doesn't pop on AEW virtually ever
as the women's Billy Starks in the same vote.
I think they're going to try and hard line separate ROH here
in the not too distant future because
whoever wins that match will wind up being the AEW Trio's
and then they'll have something else that they set up for ROH
where they get to hot shots from younger talent.
And you've also got the Kingdom as the tag champs.
Very true.
And then you've got Kyle Fletcher, I believe it's currently the
TV title.
The only note I have this week comes from Dynamite.
There was a sign in the crowd.
That said tickle him.
That is gimmick infringement.
I will not stand for it.
Your attorneys will be content.
Oh, there's one other thing.
I don't know if I feel like I've mentioned this before,
but maybe I haven't.
And they've got to change the opening from Joe's theme
because every time I hear it, I want to go.
Because it sounds like the opening from Donkey Kong.
Every time I hear it, I do this, sir.
Oh, sir, I need you to understand we're older than the normal demographic now.
They don't care about that.
I just, I just, I see Donkey Kong every time they play it.
And you know what, now I just, I want Samoa Joe
to bring out AJ's kid as Diddy Kong during the match.
No, I want them to come out and go, Karin.
And for those of you that didn't think about it before, you're welcome.
I'm just saying.
Let's get into WWE news.
I was like that piece of it.
Interesting comments yesterday from Nick Khan,
referring to the big five.
So we are now counting money in the bank.
He has said, going forward, the big five being the rumble,
Summerslam, Mania, survivor series,
and money in the bank will only either be in Merca or Canada.
Oh, really?
Yep.
He has said that they need to plan better.
He said, you will not see a day where Mania is being held in an East Coast open air stadium
in April.
He said, you will no longer see a day where they're running a show against the final four.
They are going to be taking a lot more time planning
when the, I'm just going to get to the majors.
That's what I've always called them.
And I agree with adding money in the bank to that list.
Because if I'm not going to get a real night of champions,
I will take money in the bank as a substitute.
Did you see the other part of that quote from Nikon?
No, I may have, but go ahead.
The talk of moving Mania to May.
The thing about that is you're taking it from being too close to the rumble,
from now being too close to Summerslam.
Well, but, and you don't know, and I get that aspect.
But if they're going to do that, what I was going to say is we might have to reverse
engineer this again. Because I totally agree with the idea of them moving Mania to May.
Because it gets away from everything else.
You don't have to worry about the overlap that they're so concerned with.
Plus, the big month for UFC is actually June.
So you could have their big May to June roll in for TKO,
but you would have to move other things around.
Now, if you make sure that Summerslam is the end of August,
cool. My thought process would also be in there,
where do you move money in the bank, or do you leave that in July?
Well, I mean, Ricardo is like with H in charge,
money in the bank will have its prestige.
I agree. It's when you've got five majors now.
If you put Mania in May,
60% of them will be within 90 days of each other.
But that's why I'm saying, if you, what would you do to move it?
If Mania is in May, let's say that's the anchor.
All right, you with me?
Yeah.
Build out the rest of the calendar.
I would move rumble to February.
Okay.
Keep Summerslam where it is.
So late August?
Or this year it's early August.
Well, that's what I'm saying is,
I'm just trying to do the first half of August.
Okay.
I would move survivor series.
And I know this will be blasphemy and it'll never happen.
I would move survivor series to October.
And then do money in the bank as your December show.
So now you're giving somebody an entire calendar year to cash in
versus having to do the math and do it as what would normally be that day one.
Do it as the last weekend of the year as long as it's not interfering with the holidays.
And now you've got a full calendar year to cash in.
That's an interesting way to look at it.
I'm going to say something that you might think would be blasphemous, especially for me.
I think I might move the rumble to the end of February.
Possibly even into March.
To be right before the April May two month build to Mania.
But I would actually have money in the bank.
Start the year in January.
Keep survivor series in November.
Summer slam kind of right before Labor Day maybe.
Starcade is your deadline for caching in money in the bank at the end of December.
Everything else can be fudged around from there.
But that way you give us what they tried to do with day one.
But what I would say, find that date right after college football hits that
major national championship, grab a week day or a weekend today the next week or something
trying to thread that needle with the NFL.
Give that your kickoff for the year because now you have one person who's the wild card
for that calendar year.
But you have other people start to feel the desperation of needing to win the rumble for that
coming up afterwards.
And that kind of sets you up in a couple of areas.
I might be able to regain my status as smart as me a lot.
From the role of hearing today.
All the talk that Minnesota has been doing about WrestleMania 41 may not be the
actual thing because if you guys noticed they didn't announce next year's Mania at this
year's Mania, which they never do.
They're strong at the end of time, don't we?
Yeah.
Or it's like the day before.
It's like that week day and now.
So apparently right now the strong rumor is Vegas.
I might actually have to go do that one.
Just oh darn.
Because again, they owe them after having to pull money in the bank out of that stadium.
Oh my god, I just have a plot.
Go for it.
What if I could get us into the must burger suite for Mania fully here for it?
Our record is just keeping the rumble elastic in January may may for Mania money in the bank
end of June beginning in July, summer slam mid August.
But would you a survivor series though?
I think that just leaves survivor series in November, right?
Yeah, I don't I don't I don't speak emoji Ricardo.
Still bring back, you know, bring back this regular survivor series matches but still have
war games because war games.
He says keep it in November.
Let's see here.
Congratulations to Logan Paul.
He announced this week he's about to become a father with his fiance Nina Agdal.
Yeah.
Oh, mom.
Did you see the video that Heyman posted for him?
For him.
No.
Of him coming back.
Oh, he's saying the eyes were for the Mania suite.
Logan coming back stage before the Hall of Fame.
And given and given Heyman his flowers.
Oh, yeah.
So I did see that one.
Actually, WWE posted that originally.
Okay, I just saw it from the Heyman Hustle page.
So yeah.
Let's smack down.
Interesting.
I'm intrigued at the future of the bloodline.
Enter Tomatanga.
Also enter a coup.
I am in because solo taking the phone out of Heyman's hand and stepping all over it.
Oh, okay.
I couldn't tell if you were trying to say Haku with an aspect because of Tomatanga,
but this that ending to Smackdown was at the beginning.
No, that was that was at the end.
I very I thought that opened the show.
Um, this was this was good writing.
I enjoyed this.
Now, well, we've heard the rumors of possibly having Jimmy booted out of the bloodline.
That's been coming for a while, especially after the loss at Mania.
Oh, Ricardo says in the middle of the show.
For it's everything disappeared after that for me.
The way it unfolded, I thought was brilliant.
I very much enjoyed this.
Watching the reaction of Heyman,
of the very slow,
putting the one in the air like, oh, the horrified face.
And that comes after him explaining to solo
Cody's the champ now.
Cody gets the locker room.
We don't have the power right now.
This was fantastic storytelling.
I was here for it.
I very much enjoyed it.
Did you see Rikishi's reply?
I did not.
Let's just say he was very much on board with his quote,
unquote, favorite son being in charge.
Just seeing how much.
If you if anyone ever doubts
the abilities of Paul Heyman, first of all, don't.
Secondly, I submit for your approval.
Roman Reigns.
Yeah.
Solo Sikoa.
Look, I mean, Solo Sikoa in the last two years.
If you look at his NXT stuff, like you could see the potential there.
But it was like they weren't sure where he fits into the bigger picture.
You bring him in as the enforcer of the bloodline.
You let him sit at the knowledge tree of Paul Heyman.
And this is what happens.
I was going to say this was this was the learning aspect
of a guy who was quote unquote the muscle end of list.
And some level of evolution.
Like even what it gets me the most is he's been very good at presenting himself.
Solo has he's been very good at conveying with just looks,
which is so hard for so many people, especially when they come from a wrestling family
who are like drill the techniques, drill the techniques, drill the techniques,
sell, sell, sell.
But there's a little bit of the level of acting to it.
And where I really think this is going to be the slow build to survivor series,
where I wonder if Roman will be backed by then.
And I yes, I am saying it that way.
Because I expect him to return at summer slam.
But I don't know how this.
Organization shakes out.
I think we're going to have.
Maybe all the way to then for the Usos to unite at summer slam to reunite.
Excuse me.
Where obviously they can get tornace under by the Samoan wall,
where wolf, which I cannot wait for.
Oh my god, I cannot wait to see Jacob Fattu flying around a WWE ring.
Ricardo says he's still over 37.
Do you see a situation of old bloodline versus new bloodline?
I interestingly enough, I don't know if that's a fair statement because
if I was grasping at what I think is likely to happen,
I think you would have rock on a heel side and Roman as a returning hero to save the Usos
as your square up of rock with an extra person,
Roman with the Usos, but then where is your extra?
Because there's another part of me that wonders if there's
when is Zilla freed up because him and Jacob were working together at reality and in various
stops.
But how do you balance it out or do you wind up and follow me on this one?
Freshly off losing the icy title and directionless again,
a face bloodline is reunited by Sammy Zane and that's your face side of the bloodline
to face Rock, Solo, Tama and Jacob.
Ricardo says NWA versus Wolpack redo without the chaos.
Without somebody looking very red in the face?
This Friday, tomorrow night, we will have AJ Styles versus L.A. Night to determine the
number one contender for backlash France. Oh yeah, Simone Wargames, I'm fully here for that.
Oh, like I think that goes on without a without expectation, yeah.
So to take on Cody, I don't
I want L.A. Night to get the shine.
I don't know that this is the time and plus you've got AJ Styles full heel.
Did you see the picture comparison with Cody in the way he's carrying the belt?
I've seen many of them.
I caught it before the pictures came up because somebody who I will not throw under the bus
asked me like, does he not even know how to wear a belt?
I was like, you need to learn your history.
Let's see from raw, but before we get off of that, it's a hundred percent AJ Styles.
I think it's a four-gun conclusion. AJ Styles at this stage of his career puts on amazing
matches, but makes the other person look good.
On raw, we know that Rhea Ripley is injured. We want to be clear. I would like to be clear.
I don't know what your stance is here. From everything I have read, this was not
Liv Morgan's fault. It was a result of that spot that Rhea turned the wrong way and hurt
her shoulder. People that are trying to throw her under a bus, let's tap the break just a little bit.
If she had gone one more day, she would have beaten Bailey for the longest reign with that belt.
Now, here's my real issue with this.
AC joints can be upwards of four to six months, but we've also had ones where people have come back
in two or three. If there's a chance and follow me on the mat that Rhea is back by money in the bank
or Summerslam, don't you just keep it on her and let the division fight itself out and let her
just be Queen Mommy? I mean, we've done it before with other titles.
Yeah, but I think what they're in my opinion, and there's nothing to be based on, but just my gut.
I think they're really trying to, in this, I hate using the word new era because they're killing it.
They're trying to keep the champions active.
And I can understand that. I get it, but I do believe it's a, to me, it's a foregone conclusion
that when she comes back and she's a hundred percent, she's in the title hunt very quickly,
much kind of like Charlotte Charlotte came back, got the belt right away. I think we do the same
thing with Rhea. I saw another interesting note on that one. Go ahead that this could be a blessing
in disguise because Rhea is so far better than a very good women's division. I'm not saying that
this is a knock on the women's division at all, but Rhea Ripley is so good. I have seen some things
where H is talking about possibly giving her a shot with the ICT title or something like that.
And you'd know what? I'm kind of interested. She is a generational talent. No doubt.
Absolutely. I can say that with no reservations. But there's also some other aspects you'd have
to be okay with male versus female in that kind of a match for the ICT aspect, but I would not
put it past them because you know what? I know we've had this discussion, these apples and oranges.
I don't know that I wouldn't put Rhea as the best women's performer ever are already.
She's definitely cream of the crop in this generation. No doubt. Jackson is coming by to say hello.
Ricardo says biggest pop after either summer summer survivor series. Hold her off to the bigger
shows. I really get the tail. That's what we're doing. It's all going to depend on where things are
at once. She's 100% because I could see them taking their time. And I'm not saying I agree with
this, but I kind of am here for it a little bit. Wait till January and have her on the first
run Netflix. That's an interesting way to go about it. That's a long stretch and you'd make sure
she was healthy, but there's also another part of me. And it's weird to put it in this context.
I kind of see her in the same vein as I see MJF. He's not appearing on AEW so they're missing
their best product. If Rhea is missing for that long in WWE, I think they can weather that storm,
but I don't know that I would want them too. Like I said, I'm not fully here for it,
but it would be pretty cool. Well, I was going to say, I'm in hot and idea that I want your
feedback on. Okay. Jackson, what are you doing? We teased it with Damien Priest in an outfit before.
But what if we have her just full makeup, judgment day, skeletor, calling down the minions,
even though Damien is the World Heavyweight Champion, calling out for Finn and McDonough to go
after the tag titles, calling on Dominic to go after the I.C. title and just being the
Rhea Palpatine of the judgment day because she's physically unclear, but mentally she's still on top.
You know, you think something, something tag teams. Sorry.
But you get what I mean. I let her be evil overlord of the judgment day. I'm here for it.
Like she, she is ratings, but it's not, let's not, let's call it for what it is. Rhea Ripley
equals ratings. Well, I have a selfish booking in my mind that I want to happen, but boy,
would it be a death knell for somebody else? Go for it. I want Rhea to, okay, let's say Rhea goes
away. All right. She's rehabbing. You hold her off for January. Maybe judgment day is struggling
just a bit. Here comes Rhea to unite the troops, but wait, here's the house of black behind her.
Hey, what have I said? What have I been been starting to clamor for? I want a real forbidden
door. Let's do this. Oh, I'm not even talking about a forbidden door. I'm talking about
bring all of them in as the replacements for judgment. No, I'm just saying.
Even let her do the Joker voice and just be like, we're going to have
well, you remember what I said I want for the for the real forbidden door. I want orange
Cassidy versus our truth. I want them as a tag team. Sean said the same thing yesterday.
I want them as a tag team. Speaking of our truth, what an absolute segment.
Buddy Murphy versus 30 double deer. What a segment that was. First of all,
I don't know how I feel about the new tag team. I'm assuming we're going to get new ones
tomorrow night too. I think so too. I think we're going to like those better. I like them,
but I don't love them. Bring back the ones that Demolition had and that the smoking guns had.
Those are the best tag belts they ever had. Well, here's the aspect. I'd go back to the
ruthless aggression era. Have one of them just be tag team champions and have one of them have
the old world on it. And there's your separation because I don't dislike the current belts like
you were saying, but it feels so cookie cutter of okay, every belt looks the same again. And I don't
like that. And just at the one point where she's like, can I go? Like when he when he breaks,
he's great. But the fact that it comes down to, oh, our truth just speaks French. Yeah.
That's what got through it. Just miss going. I got this.
With like you just calling H. Champa to his face. I don't even know if he knew that was coming at that
point. He had to have gotten back to the to the gorilla because it just started laughing. He's like,
I have to get this out because I should know why I could do it out there. But yeah, I just I don't
know how I feel about him. It's an improvement. Because I like those belts when they first came out.
But I didn't like it when they when they were after they stopped being copper. The copper looked
better than the silver. And then they have the copper wouldn't have worked on the colors when they
changed the leather. We'll see what the ones tomorrow night look like. I got a feeling that they're
going to look like home plate again. Because that's what I think they will. I think that's our
way to go. But Cody has said he's trying to get the eagle belt back.
You know what? I saw somebody mock up a Cody modern eagle belt and it was amazing, but nothing
official. Please do this. What's going to happen when that happens? And you now have no
chance of the blue universal title coming. I will tears of joy. Tears of joy and me texting L.A.
How much I hate him. And then they turn the strapline. I will murder someone. I will straight
up murder somebody. Last note that I have we finally did get the gable turn as we thought we would.
Somebody drawing the parallel between Walter getting in the face of Gables family and then
Gable getting in the face of Sammy's family. I thought I didn't think about that at the time,
but I was like, you know what? All right. That's good storytelling. I don't know what you do with Gable.
I'm sure you're they're going to have a match at backlash France. Here are backlash France.
And that is the official name, right? It is backlash France. I don't know that it is.
That's what I mean on the posters. It's like backlash France.
I'm going to look that up because what I want to keep seeing is backlash Neil. I want to know
if Charlotte would go. Because if you remember one of my favorite Charlottes quotes is
I hate the French, but I want to go to Paris. She did go there last summer, but still.
And it would be actually really it is backlash France. Oh, it is backlash France.
We are backlash. Do we have to say it? Like is it book loose fruit? No,
when Don's here, I have to say backlash France when he can go. I say that we get past the plea
before that gets caught up. Well, no, I hadn't do it last week. Okay. So we'll see.
Anything else you want to talk about, sir? I, you know, it's there's nothing going on right now.
But it's great. As I believe that you and I were two of the bigger defenders of AEW when it started
out against the pushback in every way, shape and form. Are you finding it harder to watch AEW
every week? Or is it just me? It's I don't know that I'm finding it harder to watch. By the way,
great booking by Ricardo have Sammy tap a gable doesn't let go first the definite and the next
the next plea. I give Sammy a run with this, but I like the booking. I can't say it's harder for
me to watch AEW. It's getting harder to defend it. Like again, hear me AEW let FTR win on Sunday.
I don't think because I don't need all elite wrestling again.
I will say that the bucks last night, that was the easiest version of them to deal with in this
chapter. With them just interrupting the package and then doing the thing like I kind of
tugged Matthew also commenting during the match. Nobody will ever be Booker T. No, I'm saying,
but it worked better than I expected it to. Let me let me clarify that. But when it's good,
it's really good. And then there's other times where I'm like I can walk away for 40 minutes and
I'll be fine. It's it's feeling like the worst parts of the attitude era to me where it's like
all right, we got Stone Cold, we got Undertaker, we got okay, Braun Penny's match, I'm out.
Ricardo saying that Tony needs to get an actual Booker. I can't say I disagree because what have
I always said you never let talent book ever? Whether it's Dusty, Jared, Nash, Hogan, you never
let talent book. But the former talent, totally okay with it. But if it's somebody that's
currently on the roster, it misses more than it hits. I mean, nothing's a hundred percent, but
man, that's close. But I mean, we'll see how Sunday goes and see, you know, this is the first time
we've had back-to-back pay-per-views with them. Yeah. So and then you're now you're talking,
I haven't heard anything for May, but Forbidden Door would come in June. No, no, May is double
or nothing. So we're going to have back-to-back to back because Forbidden Door. Well, what I was
more curious about in that scope as they try to tease is whether or not there's going to be
another AEW or ROH tag team that winds up in the Crockett Cup. If they try to spread their wings,
that way somewhat. Or if Billy Corgan still has the bad taste in his mouth from
people going to work the Crockett Cup and then be like, hey, you should come work for AEW and him
getting like Ricky Starks on a number of people just gone. We'll see. Anything else you want to talk
about? I think we've covered everything just because we have a shorter show tonight. But we do
have everything getting covered tomorrow during the film festival from a pop culture standpoint.
I think we're good for today. All right. Tomorrow night at seven Eastern. We will be live. I'm
going to put up the link tonight. I didn't want to put it up before we talked about it because then
that's a thing. We will be live from the Angelica Film Center in Mockingbird Station. Come hang out
with us for this the USA Film Festival. We'll be on promptly at seven Eastern and we they actually
I'm sure you saw the email Alex. They gave us a schedule of who the guests are going to be.
So we're going to have about 30 minutes probably to get settled and then we've got back to back to
back guests. I'm very excited to have some filmmakers on with us. And then Saturday come out the
Dallas comic show. Come hang out with me. I'll be doing panels all day. By the way, the Cosplay
Contest will be dedicated to the memory of Friend of the Show Daniel Calhoun. I'm very I'm glad
that Mark's doing that. Mark's good people. And then Sunday night I will be hosting a screening of
Toy Story 3 with John Morris. Saturday night will be Mean Streets, which is a great film.
And it's it's that guy's second credit ever on IMDB, which is crazy to consider because when you
look at his body of work, it's ridiculous. David Provol is I can't wait to sit down with him.
It's going to be awesome. You can go to Dallas Comics Show.com for the full schedule and it's not
an expensive show. Mark keeps his costs very low. There's going to be some awesome vendors. There's
going to be a ton of artists. Sam Wafty, Mark Brooks, Nick Petara, Lauren Wright, Matthew Wade,
Ariel Diaz, Andy Landy, all comic book artists going to be there. We've also got a Q&A with the cast
of a very hot anime right now. I want to make sure I get this right where I will be sitting down with
them as I'm still scrolling through that. And that's so we're going to have the first one's going
to be him. And then we have Ashley Scott. And then we have the cast from heaven's heaven officials
blessing. I get that screwed up. Five of the of the voice actors from that will be with us.
And then Muriel Farion, I believe I said that right. She is actually the person that created
strawberry shortcake. Oh wow. We character not the dish. I and she's got a great story to tell as
well. Lots going on this weekend. And then next weekend we got the Dallas International Film
Festival running for about a week and a half. And we're trying we're going to get the final
details for that ironed out hopefully in the next few days. So we'll tell you when we're hoping
to be live from the Dallas International Film Festival taking place in uptown. Looking forward to
tomorrow night, we're going to experiment with some cool tech and stuff. Make sure you follow us on
