I love this movie, but let's talk about the Golden Globes last week
and for those of you that don't know, Chardonnay and Donna and I are a member,
we're not collectively, we're not like the board. We are members of the
North Texas Film Critics Association. And recently the the North Texas Film
Critics Association, we we got together and we did our vote for the
best of 2016. We didn't differ much from the from the Hollywood
Foreign Press. Not bad.
L'Alan did set the record last Sunday night with seven wins. The only one
close recently was the social network in 2009 with three, but it
tied and it beat the record it beat was a tie for Midnight Express
had six and 1978 and Kukus nest had six and 1975. We named
Best Picture L'Alan, one that. We named Best Director Damien Shazel, who
also wrote for the screenplay at the Golden Globes. Our Best Animated
feature was Zootopia, which also was said by the Golden Globes. Our Best
Foreign Film was L. That was out. I believe that one one as well. I'll have to
double check on that. Our Best Documentary was my favorite film with a
year, Gleason. Best cinematography also went to L'Alan for Linus Sangrin.
Michael Shannon, we gave Best Supporting Actor for Nocturnal Animals, Best
Supporting Actress Michelle Williams, a manchester by the C Best Actor, KCF
lack in Best Actress Natalie Portman for Jackie. So when you compare back to
the Golden Globes, let's go through everything that won real quick. Like I said,
L'Alan gets seven, Emma Stone wins, Ryan Gosling wins, Damien Shazel,
Director and Screenplay, City of Stars gets original song, just in her
wits wins for original score. As we go down the list, Moonlight won for Best
Drama, Don really enjoyed it as did the movie brothers. I hear a lot of good
things about that film. Foreign Language Film, we said L, they said L as well,
and Isabelle, who pair? Is it Upair? I believe that's how you say that? She won
for Best Actress in a Drama, KCF, who we named Best Actor, they gave him
Best Actor Drama, Viola Davis wins Best Supporting Actress Drama for
Fences, which I thought was weird because I would have nominated her for Best
Root for Lead, yeah, that didn't make a lot of sense. Kevin from the
movie brothers and I had a really extensive talk about this last night, we couldn't
figure it out. Aaron Taylor Johnson wins Best Supporting Actor for Nocturnal
Animals. I didn't realize he was in that. Yes, so yes he is. Atlanta, okay,
that was kind of disturbing me. That movie is disturbing. Atlanta is the Best TV series
musical or comedy, and Donald Glover wins for Best Actor in musical or comedy.
TV series drama goes to the Crown, another Netflix win, which also
Claire Foie wins Best Actress on that, or maybe Floy? I don't know. Tom Hiddleston,
got a Golden Globe for the Night Manager, as did Olivia Coleman and Hugh Laurie.
We talked about Zootopia. Best of many series or a motion picture made for television
goes to American Crime Story, people versus OJ Sims, and we're Sarah Pulse and also
one Best Actress in that category. And she should. Tracy Ellis Ross,
one Best Actress for TV series musical comedy for Blackish. Billy Bob Forton wins for
actor TV series drama. So, interesting night at the Golden Globes. And next week,
next Tuesday, we'll be the Oscar nominations. So we're going to see how we fair it up
