For posterity sake, it is 912 on the east coast in the evening.

But number two, this is one of our favorite nights of the year.

We are at Garland High School, the 2022 Real Owl Cinema Film Festival.
We love this.
This is crazy.
And they have actually bring us back here.
It's been three years since we sat in this room.
COVID kind of took things over two years ago.
And last year it was, well, the two years ago, it's fully virtual.
Last year it was a little bit of this, a little bit of that.
But we are back in the cafeteria.
We still represent it.
And it still makes me feel old.
I don't know what it is.
Because they keep on staying the same, but we keep on getting older and older.
We are, we know we're just old.
There's no getting older and older.
Brother, we're just old.
We get more and more gray hairs as they still look like.
Brother, I ain't got much left.
It's not gray.
You kidding me?
But they allowed us back.
Almost two hours of student films here at Garland High School.
It has an amazing film department headed by Mr. Schubert himself.
I hope we can get him on for a little bit.
He's running around like a madman.
Because this is what he does this time of year.
It's a full on gallop.
Yeah, total.
The kids are coming out.
We got photographers.
There's a red carpet.
There's a backdrop.
We got one in here.
We got to support this thing.
Absolutely.
We love this thing.
The Matrix was the theme this year.
We've had Jurassic Park in the past.
Star Wars.
Last year was back to the future.
Yep.
So Schubert always very, very creative.
And a lot of great people behind the scenes
making things happen.
And for some reason,
they think we're qualified to judge these things.
I have a badge that says,
remember the first year we did it said industry judge?
And I was like, we're in the industry.
Look at us doing things.
Who are we?
But we're still trying to figure that out.
It was still last back.
I can't.
I don't know.
No, we're honored to be here.
We are saddened that Kelly and Mark
her husband could not be here.
But they were here virtually.
Yep.
So we're glad that they were able to help out.
A lot of judges this year.
Yeah, and we're glad of that.
I said, I think we had enough to have it like,
you know, they have like the jury prize at the can.
That's why I think we had enough for a jury this year.
Of course, they do.
The thing is that we got to give a shout out to Kelly and Mark.
We wish them the best.
Well, great job.
Yeah, we're looking forward to having them
back with us very, very soon.
Because it's almost film festival season.
It kind of sort of is because we're at one.
You know, I got a text from a friend of mine like,
hey, man, you're going to come join us.
And I'm like, I'm judging a film festival.
And then I looked at that text and I went, yeah.
So how many times is this now for us?
Is this five or six?
Something like, well, I was here last year,
but it wasn't the thing.
But that's doing the podcast.
I think this is probably going to be like,
just in general.
I mean, four or five time, I think.
So we've now seen an entire class cycle.
Oh, yeah, we've already seen that.
Almost one and a half if you think about it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which is crazy.
There were freshmen, you know,
there were freshmen that were freshmen.
And the last time we're here, now seniors.
And a lot of them are some of the freshmen.
The first time we were here, we're in college.
One of which Henry Femme, who is actually a reviewer now,
part of the press.
So we're glad to see Henry still do in the deal.
So I got to go get the,
the filmmakers and stuff.
All right, you're going to do that.

I mean, I thought we're supposed to like keep it kind of rolled,
you know, we'll just won't figure it out, brother.

Hi, I am Eli Tulson.
I did a video log one.
I was the writer.

Because what, because we have to be here to do the podcast.
We watched the last half an hour or so of films
so that we can get here before you guys do.

So let's talk about the film for a minute.
Okay.
It's very high and I can't read.
Oh, you can fix that.

As long as you're good, that's the important thing.
I dare not ask what the inspiration was because it's pretty obvious.
But tell people what it's about because not everybody's going to be able to see that
here's the podcast.
It was about COVID.
Oh my gosh, that's insane.
Who would it guess?
Nice little payoff though.
Right.
It was a video log of a young lady.
Right.
Or a vlog.
Or are you guys still calling it?

Okay, because I knew that's what it used to be called.
And, you know, I'm old.
You can see the hair and the goatee.
I don't even know.

How long did it take you to actually shoot it?
Because this is a year-long process for you guys.
Right.
You go through the process of the filmmaking itself.
Um, it actually didn't, I, because of COVID,
we were very separated, right?
And so, whenever you start film too,
it's when, that's when you start to get your specific roles
and freshman film.
You kind of just all work on it together.
Tell everybody what you're in.
Oh, I'm in film three.
I'm a junior.
All right.
And so, I had that, I, and so I wasn't actually there
for the shooting because, obviously, social distancing,
we didn't want to put anybody in danger.
And so, I wrote it.
And so, me and Jenna, the girl inside the film.
Mm-hmm.
Jenna Wagner, I believe that.
Jenna Wagner.
Okay. Good.
Yes.
And we kind of worked together as she was shooting it.
And I was like, what if you like,
like, messed up your makeup as the days went on?
Because obviously, this is a distressing event for her.
And so, she, like, messed up her hair,
messed up her clothing.
I wrote the script and then...
So, was she shooting it and then sending you the footage?
Yes.
So, you were having to back and forth
without being in the same room.
Right.
And it was, it was a little weird.
That's kind of, it luckily, it was our last film.
So, we actually had a lot of practice doing that.
But, Jenna was sending me pictures.
She was asking me questions.
She was like, what should I do?
And I was like, do this.
And it was, it was a little hectic.
I have to give a lot of credit to her,
because she made a lot of clear creative liberty.
And she did absolutely fantastic.
Unfortunately, she had to leave film
because she had a lot of stuff in her schedule.
But she's still very talented.
And I'm very glad that she's getting recognized.
So, film four coming up, I assume.
Yes.
Are you, are you already planning your film four project
or do you have to wait until school starts again
to get that and get the wheels moving?
We have to wait.
I have ideas, obviously.
And I, I'm more of a cinematographer.
And now this year, I'm able to work with the cameras.
I figured I'd really like working with the camera.
I have ideas in regards to that.
I don't really have a lot of film, like story ideas.
But, you know, that's, yeah.
We kind of have to wait, because even in senior year,
we still get prompts and assignments
that we have to follow by our lovely film teacher,
Mr. Schubert.
That kind of knows what he's doing, just a little bit.
He definitely knows what he's doing.
And he's been a huge help to literally
every single person in the department.
And we appreciate it a lot.
What kind of film inspires you?
Don't ask me that.
I mean, what, like, when you're at the house
and you want to watch something, what's your go-to?
I love, he's a small creator.
His name is Jack Stober.
And he does a lot of horror stuff.
Okay.
And the way that he combines the different types of film
is so incredible.
And it's so, what's the word, inspiring to me?
The way he, because he's also an animator.
I'm also an art student.
And so animation is kind of what I'm looking at right now.
And the way he combines live action with 2D,
with 3D, with stop motion.
It's so incredible.
And he's so good.
I also like romcoms and comedies.
Right now I'm watching Silicon Valley.
And I love it a lot.
What's the one movie coming out?
You're looking forward to.
Well, it just came out.
It's Dr. The New Dr. Strange movie.
I am a huge marketing.
We screened it on Monday night.
What?
Yes, we did.
Because we're part of the press.
It's what we do.
Yeah, that's right.
We have to review movies.
We have to see them early.

I love Spider-Man so much.

Andrew Garfield, dude.
Oh, homecoming was good.
But the second one, it was just a little odd for me.
If it took them way too long to get to where they're going.
Right.
No, I haven't watched Moon Knight yet.
That's the one I'm missing.
I just finished Moon Knight.
It's insane.
Oscar Isaac does fantastic.
Because he wants all the geek cred.
He wants all of it.
And he's going to get all of it eventually.
Now, I will tell you, for Doctor Strange,
Moon Knight necessarily required
for the people that haven't seen it.
Right.
One division requirement.
No way home requirement.
No way.
Yes.
Spider-Man, one division.
And then obviously the Doctor Strange films.
Those that those are that's the your way to go for those.

So any thoughts of what's going to happen after next year?
I really hope I make a lot of cool films next year.

Where do you want to go when you graduate?
Well, there's a school like in Chicago
that's been emailing me a lot.
It's called Columbia.
But it's really expensive.

What was the film?

Very interesting.
The storytelling aspect of steel my heart.
There's a parallel things that goes on at the same time
with a couple and then another couple that may,
that aren't really a couple, but they're kind of a couple,
but they're not.
How did you come to the point of let's just tell these two stories
at the same time?
Okay, it was kind of funny because I think originally whenever we like
conceptualize the idea, it was kind of like our last movie where we were
intending to do like two different genres at the same time.
Yeah, but it kind of just like it came to what it was.
It wasn't like two genres.
It was just two stories.
But it kind of really is until the end of it.
Yeah, it is two because you've got the the two guys that are looking to
steal a bunch of money and then you've got the two people that are in the honeymoon
phase of their of their relationship and how these two worlds collide.
How wanted to take you to film all of that?
Filming filming wise that was it was it was it's really interesting to just like
compare and contrast like we would we'd film one part of the scene right
and then we would reference that and say like okay how are we going to do this
but contrast this with the second couple the second like the second robbers
we had the original shot where we had the the the guy and the girl and then
immediately went to the the first robber and the guy packing a stuff and we're
just like we're finding these different parallels and how we are filming the
first shot that we could just use the second one and just change a bit
from the script that we had was this the entire year project or was this a piece
of the year because that was just a normal project.
How long did it take the film or how long did it take the film?
How long from from inception from a conception to delivery if you
want.
Not a month and a half right?
Wow yeah probably like just six weeks
How many films do you guys do a year?
Normally not not for senior year senior year we had a little bit of a
less count but normally we do about six films a year.
Get you used to that that quick turnaround process.
Yeah all seniors?
Yes.
All right so now you get to breathe a little bit at least for a couple of weeks.
What happens now?
Call it tour the tour himself I mean I'm going to a
YouTube for filmmaking okay I don't know I don't know like my
plans after that but I'm but though well it's just we're talking about the
immediate plan okay so University of Texas at Austin
for filmmaking you could do a lot worse yeah but what about the rest you guys?
I'm just gonna take it easy like cruise through graduation and then
just yeah you got you mean you at this point you guys are just playing the
finish right yeah I mean you've gotten everything done
yeah it's just kind of just fit what going across the finish line basically
so yeah and um I am not going to be going to college yet
I am going to major in filmmaking and directing and
I plan to move overseas but I'm taking a gap year because I don't really have
much of a portfolio right now so hopefully it all works out
Well and that's the thing is you live in a time where
you can just experiment with stuff it's all right there at your fingertips you
don't have to worry about burning film you don't have to worry it you like
you can just go on your computer and tinker around with it
I'm planning to head to UNT for pre-med and a minor in filmmaking
yeah North Texas is a great school as well I am also a musician so I'm a little
partial even though I can go to North Texas I'm from Florida but that's a
whole different issue right what movie right now are you guys looking
forward to that's it's either out and you haven't seen or that's coming out
I got answers first I've seen because the USA Film Festival was very recent
and I've seen these posters of my posters of everything
everything everywhere all at once which got another iMac's release and I missed
it again I first of all Michelle yeah brilliant genius
and she could just she could kick my butt 12 different ways without even touching
me which is kind of weird but I this is a film that I really want to see I'm
told it's long but it's the payoff to it is huge and it's killing me that
I haven't seen you I'm right there with you I would have to say the Northman
because talk about long Dawn actually went to the screening of that I was out
of town he says it's very realistic to Viking culture but it's very very long
and it be prepared for a pace that's going to be
slower than you may be used to I honestly really really like slow movies because I
like the rising tension in the development I like movies that read like books
so I think in that case the Northman it's based off of Hamlet right or it's
sort of like a hamlet kind of I can see the hamlet parallel absolutely
and I love Robert Egger's and everything that you do I love everybody involved in this thing
that's another one I that one I may wait till I can watch it in my living room
yeah I don't know if it's really a theater movie but I definitely think it's
something that needs to be experienced or experienced like one-on-one almost
I can't really think for right now I know like one that I'm excited to like release
is crimes of the future I think that is Cronenberg Cronenberg's next film yes the trailer just
hit yesterday I believe I would see yeah I haven't seen it like any of the the teasers
or the trailers or anything like that but I know like all the actors involved and like just
his past films like yeah Cronenberg is a guy that's not necessarily for everybody yeah but if
you're into him you're like way into it yeah he's one of those filmmakers it's like a like the
true kind of original body horror type stuff yeah it's really he does good work yeah
off the top of my mind I'd have to say I forgot the name of it but it's about the Manhattan
project the one Nolan's directing oh no one's next film yeah it's like everyone is called
Oppenheimer yeah yeah it's Nolan I mean the guys Christopher Nolan calls you go yeah you know
I mean he gets he for me he gets a lifetime pass for the Dark Knight because that is to me the
perfect superhero film nothing will ever touch the Dark Knight the Batman got dog on close the
Batman could see it from there but the Dark Knight to me because I'm also a Batman fanatic
so the Dark Knight is is the perfect superhero film and if you ever saw American Psycho
which a couple more years little young but when that movie came out I saw that and went that's
Bruce Wayne and this was like 97 because you have to look at Bruce Wayne and go you know what
something right about that the way it is uncanny how much like you can tell like the Patrick
Bateman carries so much yeah yeah he is Bruce Wayne it just I really really enjoyed the Batman
and then announced that cinema com we're getting the second one so I'm here for it
have you heard about the comics that are coming out from that Dano's doing yes
Dano's doing Ridler year one I am I want to go to there that man he is he is so cool because he's
I think he's directed a couple of things and he sings he writes Paul Dano is that guy in that thing
yeah that you look at his eye I'm in DB and you're like oh okay yeah okay he did that and he did
that and he did that yeah it's almost annoying how many because like I've watched every movie that I've
watched this week has had him in it somehow and I'm like oh dang it there's actually a couple of
documentaries that are called that guy and that thing that she watching you go yeah that's about
reminds me of like Jesse Plumman's because like I he just kind of got a breakthrough a little bit
and I think yeah I think it's funny because like you look there his catalog and he's like he's been in
that and like it's just and he's been around for yeah and it was I didn't even know he was playing the
role probably until two weeks part came out because I was really trying to avoid his many and I
stumbled on it and I was like oh because they never show him that you don't see him in the trailers
yeah I think actually he was replaced like the original guy oh really I have to look that up
would not be surprised the original guy was Matt Damon
all right so I'm given being given the highest time that we got let you guys go eat and stuff
because you know food and free foods the best kind congratulations guys great work

actually yeah all right well we're cycling a bunch of different people through so Don's

there seems to be some confusion oh okay we're back okay so are we tagging out or are adding to
we're adding wow okay so then who are we adding to this equation
oh say your name Jack you just told me okay I'm Jack all right I'm Alex Cormier
and what what's uh which film did you guys do I was part of just the two of us
showed towards the end that was one we actually saw before we got here uh because we have to be
here set up for the podcast they always send us the last half an hour of the program
just the two of us a very interesting concept because there's a lot going on here
how many genres did you end up hitting is what I lost count it was five to be exact so
that was gonna say you had romcom you had noir you had dramatic I was just like the noir thing I'm
a big film norfan like I loved the remake of death on the Nile I love the remake of murder on
the Orient expressed you know since city to a to a certain degree but stuff those old films
like the Maltese Falcon and Nick Ignora and all that what what did you do to get to that place
of like okay we're just gonna take a left turn here okay well I mean that was like originally planned
just because like we were thinking originally like black and white and like 40s or something
around the era just old so it's like a whole like time period shift okay can we say you're
allowed to stay old in the 40s because I wasn't alive yet I will accept that I was born 30 years
after that so we're good but in that time shift it kind of like it made it drastic enough to where
it it flowed a whole lot better and it seems like what I'm trying to think it's like it like we
have to like understand like we chose a genre is before we kind of even like actually finished
the story nice nice like going through the motions where it is like this fits with this like
this relationship is breaking we I think originally we had it so that the noir was when they broke up
and then we figured out that that the gunshot was perfect for the symbolizing of the relationship
like breaking down and then noir was just a really depressing I love that's how you guys minds
work that just brings me joy yeah we yeah one thing we decided was like a you know five genres
five-act structure you've got your exposition which is the romcom then you go to the rising action
which is the western which uh you know also a big western fan so we're good there the harder
they fall was my favorite film the last year and then we were like you know what the climax
where like it's all we're like you know they're broken up they're not apart that should be the
climax and noir just fits perfectly for that you know what's it good talk my friend the stories are
written to the genres the genre is not written to the story so like we are like you said we already
have the genres picked out and the stories are written to fit into that like we the original idea
was the different genres it was not really the storyline itself and I kind of want to get into that
a little bit more because shiver just walked by and you know we're all big fans of shiver the way
he teaches he teaches you guys a very broad spectrum of things so that you can work on how much of
these genres did you have before you came to it or was it something that he brought to you and
you were like I want to put this into my film so we actually studied all five of those genres in
the film class believe it or not and he will go he'll go deep into the crates on you too yes
yeah go ahead no you okay I'm currently in the film one class I'm a senior but I got into the film
program late nothing wrong with that and my parents were only but we're currently studying all of
that and I feel like while it can get a little bit tedious learning about all of that and having
examples out really helps with the film making because you need to know the history does it make
you want to go dig deeper and find other films within those genres that compare and contrast
yeah it really does like there's one that we watched it was metropolis and oh there's like
nine different cuts of that film so because I mean I it's like every five years I'm like oh here's
another cut of a tropolis it's like another kind of blade runner what are we doing it's like how can
you keep finding more footage it's apparently the full cut this criterion cut I think the criterion
is probably the most complete cut of that film any and when criterion puts their name on something
you have my attention even though lately they've been doing a lot of really obscure stuff
but what I like about cried they were really the first back in the laser disk days criterion was
the first to really experiment with director commentaries and extra features like I think I still
have a couple of laser disks at my house clerks chasing Amy I'm a Kevin Smith nut which doesn't help
but it when they put their name on something and even when they're like they did go back and do two
of my favorites are Robocop and silence of the lambs or two of the best criterion I've ever seen
so when you're doing your research if there's a criterion version go the hardest one to find
because they never really they actually did ghost busters the first one which you can only find
on laser disk and I find it very annoying because they need to re-release that let's talk about
that for a minute because again older cat you can tell I am a big fan of physical media
because when the grid goes down you're all coming to my house because I'm the one that's got all
the movies how do you guys feel about in this age physical media versus just having it digitally
I mean I love like both of them because I have probably way too many like streaming services
as well as way too many physical copies because they're just like things that you can't get over
streaming that you have to like get in the DVD that like I've had to just buy and like chip overseas
or and things like that but it like streaming services also are really useful just like
if you're gonna blind by something you have the risk of like just watching something and being like
this is terrible please give me my money back but streaming services just like let you see it without
bigger fans of same day release theater and streaming or the one month delay one month delay
I gotta say that one month because I'm a fan of the theater experience yeah even if it's
the same day drop I'm still gonna go to the theater first if it's a movie I want to see if it's
one I don't care about but event films things like that I don't care if it's same day that's why
I you know I get the the AMC a list every month so worst case scenario I just burn one of my a lists
right and I think that if it is like a movie that you really appreciate and it's something that
you know that you're going to see a bunch of times just based on the trailer I think it's good to
have that theater experience and then you can do whatever you want at home to get those two
different experiences I actually want to add on to a Carly half the time Mr. Schubert is telling us
about his theater experience of half the movies we watch yeah the guy seeing all the movies he's like
always I saw this movie and then when I walked out I just had to sit down for a second and just
process what I saw how many times as he said that I've he and I are friends on Facebook I know
all right so I'm getting the highest time that you guys need to go and do do the things so thank

tell everybody who you are in the film we're representing my name is Farzing Tanha we're
representing John the musical yes you are and we're going to talk about it I am the director
of John the musical I am Carter Erant I was an actor in John the musical
let us talk about this loved it I'm gonna say it loved it there's judge right there I'm
allowed to say that I am I am I am allowed tonight to judge you outwardly say and Don is too
what made you decide you know what we're going to do a very extended rap video
so so our teacher proposed the idea of a musical right I had no musical talent except
I thought you did a great job yeah well yeah I said I could rap so I was like you know we'll do a whole
rap you not done wrong with that how long did it take you to write the music
because there were two songs three total okay something must have mixed in some work because I
remember the slow song and I remember the opening song yeah so it took us like around two weeks
really well I wrote the songs like beforehand right and then we kind of just made beats as we went
right so it didn't take us that long but it took us quite a while and you were you guys just like
hey we're just gonna do this thing or were you were you guys actually learning the songs too
or you just heard it so many times it's like I know it by now bro
but talk about the experience from in front of the camera's point of view was it fun was it was
it grueling what was it it was super weird because I had never acted before and it was my first time
and so I thought it was gonna be super easy but I felt like so awkward and like stiff and I feel
like I could have done better but it was interesting how many times you find yourself breaking the fourth
wall actually a couple are you get to that point where you're like oh it's right there sorry
like looking at the camera yeah really yeah we call that breaking the fourth wall because a set has
three walls behind you since there's no wall here that's the fourth wall the Deadpool thing right
what year's everybody oh we are all sophomores oh so you guys are you guys are halfway there yeah yeah
talk about your experience at the halfway point in your high school gears how are you feeling versus
how you started with it well I feel very optimistic about because we saw it what the seniors made
and I'm like my god we can do so much better than this so I was like okay yeah I see what we
can do in the future what we have right now is good but it could be better that's what I'm thinking
what do you think the next one you want it what the next genre you want to mess with is I really
want to do a mockumentary you know it's like I know I'm here for it oh I don't believe me I am
from the era of spinal tap I know exactly what you're talking about and I'm a huge fan of the
mockumentary from a director standpoint what do you want to do I I'm drifting more towards horror
and that I just I have a policy I live by a code I refuse to pay someone to try to make me pee on
myself I can't do it I don't like horror films but they're they're they're they're so prevalent now
because they can make them fairly cheap and they make a ton of money the bloom house model basically
they go here here's five million bucks make a movie yeah and I got to say one of my favorite films
from there genre probably in the last five years is if you haven't seen upgrade it's about a guy
who gets into an accident and they put this chip in the back of his neck oh and it's a computer
that basic because he's paralyzed that basically turns him into just like a kung fu master yeah
so and the bad guys have like shotguns in their arms like it's nuts yeah and they're making I
think it stars is making a series out yeah we we actually made a film we watched upgrade right so
we saw a clip on YouTube of it and we kind of wanted to replicate the fighting style so we did
make a film and that's the same guy that did the first saw first song the first saw movie saw oh
saw yeah he directed the very first one yeah we actually went to the screening he was there and he
was talking about like how this got me here yeah what about what about you guys what kind of things
are you interested in um she's like nope I'm I'm on a hard pass um well uh you could you uh
repeat it what kind of genre do you want to like from an actor standpoint what kind of things are
you interested in doing um like maybe some like romance or like uh yeah horror like he said
because yeah I saw his movie that I wasn't a part of and it looked really cool which one um identity
yeah I don't think that one is cool where he's like coming through the doorway and he's like
getting taller and I feel like if I could do that that would be yeah that would that the ending
of that was kind of nuts yeah yeah it's like oh this just took a very bad character then there
was a hatchet involved no that was an axe because it had both blades right okay because that's the
difference I actually made that when we were freshmen last year so why did it come to this year uh we
had made it after the after the deadline okay all right what movie that what's the movie you're
looking forward to seeing right now that either it has come out you haven't seen or hasn't come
out that you're waiting for I don't know really because it's summer movie season it's here
last weekend is what you know Dr. Strange starts the summer movie season so it's official
now I'm excited for four oh love and thunder yeah that he is just so good yeah like if you saw
ghost busters answer the call I'm like the guy's got comedy chops too and then he does ragna rock
and everything just shoots the wheels off of everything I'm kind of I'm kind of jazz for Top Gun
Maverick I'm not gonna lie I just I am a sucker for because that's the 80s is my childhood so that
return to it and this movie's been in the works for 20 years and just the line of him saying I
didn't think you'd invite me back and they're like it's called orders Maverick like that line just I
was like okay you have me now and the fact that he's doing all the flying and they've got the cameras
in the cockpits which they could do in the first one my broadcast partner who's actually not
here tonight he's a big Bob's Burgers fan so he's ready for that movie then we're going to be
screening both of those week after next so I just I love that summer movie season we're just
stuff's gonna explode yeah and I still haven't seen everything everywhere all at once yet
which is driving me crazy because every screening I was out of town and then they got the I'm
axory release and I was out of town I'm like this has to stop the visuals on that movie is so
crazy and I'm such a big fan of her and have been for 25 years what thoughts of college yet
college because you know you're at the point now you gotta start thinking about it because it's
fixing to get real for me you can go to direction okay one I follow whatever my parents want I do
engineering and want to or I go the arts route and I start doing film as like an actionable thing
I'm kind of leaning towards engineering but do what you want to do brother yeah because that's
your path you have to forge yeah any other thoughts guys I am strongly looking to make films in the
future and yeah I think that's what I'll do all right um so acting like I said earlier it was like
my first time and I don't know if I'm super good at it yet um I think if I kept on
wasn't sticking with it I could get good but right now I'm thinking about like engineering or
design or something like that but I do so in the worst case scenario you do it as a hobby you do it
for fun yeah you know we don't pay for this we've been doing this for 12 years but we do it because
we have fun doing you know and we have if we have a network that's like you should do your show here
and we're like yes we should do our show there okay fair enough all right I'm getting the
high sign that you guys got to go get ready for because we got to go back over to the other side
and present awards great job you guys I'm a big fan of the film very much enjoy to go enjoy the
evening because god lord it's almost over it wow thank you guys so much thank you thank you

Don Ford what am I doing are we wrapping it up we got one more what are we doing we have one more
all right I'm gonna take a sip of my tasty beverage okay so we got about 10 minutes and then
we're gonna wrap it up all right fair enough I have a sip of my tasty beverage you have two young
ladies joining us now tell us who you are and what you worked on you were in like 74 different things
so yes I don't know I like to see the paperwork on that I was not talking right into that microphone
if you would not in any films but I did make a hundred years of tradition and we are gonna talk
about that hi I also helped with the making of a hundred years of tradition so the 100 years of
tradition referring to Garland high school which when I saw that I was like I can't even fathom
a hundred years of anything really you know and then it turns into a musical and then not quite
the feel good movie of the year what what brought you to that point of like hey man we're gonna
take this thing off a cliff at the end that's what I that's the question I want to know um I think
we just wanted to make it more interesting um it wasn't very the plot wasn't as exciting as we
thought it was gonna be in the beginning so we're just decided to add a little twist to the end
I guess yeah well we were trying to figure out how to like spice it up and then I was just like on
the news like watching the news it was like oh nuclear war and then I was like oh what does that
happen here let's add that because nuclear holocaust why not right but it starts it but it starts
out on such a a high note of we're talking about our school and how our basketball teams great
and then that happens I just I thought it was a really nice move because I like when a film
can take me to a place that I wasn't prepared for because I've been in this game a long time
you know I worked at the movie theater in high school you know I've been only child I grew up
in front of the television so it's safe to say that I can't say that I've seen it all but it's
really dog on close but for you and because that that took me off guard so if you can do that kudos to
you how long did it take you to do the whole thing um so filming everything took about three weeks
and then editing was over a span of a few days I'm always fascinated because this was a musical
editing pre-recorded music into the live filming how hard was that process of getting everything
synced up honestly that was the hardest part because we had like a different music at the beginning
oh dear that the lip sync is a little bit off at the beginning and then like we rerecorded it and
everything so it was a little off and then trying to sync up everything like um Cassie who plays
Jordan um or Logan um when she was like lip syncing the song it didn't match quite like as much as we
wanted it to so editing that was like really different but I thought the brilliant part of that is
you had her like spinning at different points so you could kind of mess with it a little bit like
yes she's still singing as far as you know you know what what you're you guys in
so you're halfway there very nice good job you're gonna stick with it all the way through
we'll see you won't hear this shall be fine what kind of genre do you really want to look into
making films up
um personally I'm not a fan of horror or anything like that you're not here good to like
rom comes and just like adventure is things um and then I like historical stuff for some reason I
always like like incorporating that into my films there's nothing wrong with that you get histories
of good thing I gotta and I ask this of everybody what movie are you looking forward to seeing that's
already out and you haven't seen or hasn't come out yet that you're looking forward to
probably Dr. Strange that literally just came out we saw it we saw it Monday night our reviews are up
we we go to screenings because we review films so yeah they let us lay like a while let's watch
it in the iMacs which is cool how about you I really want to watch the industries also um and then
french dispatch great film one I West Anderson has a very distinct style I love it and for me I love
it or I don't like I'm not a big fan of the royal tenon bombs just because it's so depressing
but like his animation stuff fantastic mr. Fox isle of dogs loved it this is probably my favorite
live action film that he has done because it's segmented in that because you're you're literally
reading the magazine so he actually tries to tell the story differently just a little bit differently
for each article and as long as you know what you're getting into when you get into it that's the
thing because a lot of people went into it and were like I have no idea what happened here I'm
gonna go back and watch it again and then it's better for you when you know what it is french dispatch
great film didn't give as much love as I thought it would now my favorite film last year is still
the heart of it fall the heart of they fall on Netflix the western it's so good everybody and
their brothers in it and it's a great it's it's a little long but it's a great I'm a big western's
guy and it just hits it checks all the boxes for me and he thoughts about what's going to happen
after high school because this eight you're at the halfway point you gotta start thinking about it
now no thoughts I don't be a writer okay so maybe like screenwriting screen I was gonna say
screenwriting or literature okay I really want to do something writing related no thoughts for me oh
I know maybe something having to do with love maybe oh wow yeah okay very different from film
so you guys feel like you get to breathe for a little bit before you dive back into the whole film
thing again we're working on another film right now oh gee getting ready for next year
no sorry oh you still have one you got to make oh I thought you guys were done oh geez it sounds
like they're yelling for you guys to go back to the auditorium we're gonna join you back over
there here in just a few minutes great job on the musical guys really dug it all right perfect
