in the future of these great students.
They asked us again to beat judges along,
along with friends of the show,
Mark and Kelly, you know, Kelly Titchens,
so she's Kelly Kitchen's Wicker Sham,
so, and her husband, Mark, is with her.
One of our favorite people in the world.
We love her to death.
We're such fans, we're looking forward to seeing them.

We're gonna be interviewing some of these kids
for those of you that missed the show last year.
Garland High School has its own film department.
And kids from freshman to senior year

here at the Real Outlet Cinema Film Festival,
which are judged, and there'll be awards.
We're kind of at the halfway point, I guess you could say,
because we just finished watching all the films.
The kids are gonna come here for a reception.
And then after the reception,
we're gonna go back to the auditorium
for the awards ceremony,
where last year we presented a few awards.
And I'm being told we're doing that again this year, don't we?

in the win or goes, too.

So you know how I'm kind of on the fence on this Rick and Morty thing?
Yes.
For any of the show, Alex has been really trying to get me on the board with us.
He gave me season one to watch on DVD.
And you know, God knows I have that kind of time.
But apparently, this is bigger than I thought it was as far as what?
The audience.
Oh gosh.
Because adult swim has ordered 70 episodes more of Rick and Morty.
Yeah.
It's like this panic is overall panic for the core audience.
They were thinking it was going away now because nobody was talking about it getting renewed.
Well, I know that, you know, it's had a fairly big cultural impact.
You see the pickle Rick stuff everywhere all over the place.
But if you also remember about a maybe six months ago or so, they started the uproar for
McDonald's to bring back the Szechuan sauce.
Yeah.
I didn't realize that that's where that all came from initially.
It does frighten me that it has that kind of cultural impact like Szechuan sauce has
the BFA.
I mean, I remember the main reducing that I want to say for Mulan, maybe.
Yeah.
That's what it's for.
Yeah.
And tie it.
I don't know why they did away with it.
Stars has renewed Outlander for season six.
You haven't watched that?
Never watched that episode in the same year.
A friend of the show Heather Vogelman's a big fan that she's been turned on to some of
the books that go along with it.
I mean, it seemed like it'd be an interesting watch, but I just, I don't want to put something
else on it.
Now, notice I said it was renewed for season six.
November starts season four.

So do that kind of math.
Yeah, they've, I think they're safe for a while.
Peaky Blinders says they are working on season six and seven.
And apparently there's going to be a ballet based on it.

I tried to sit through like a first, the first two, three episodes of season one, and I
just couldn't get into it.
Is it about people that own blinders that aren't very good?

So this lethal weapon thing is getting weirder.

They reported a couple of weeks ago that lethal weapon has, was having some issues with
the guy playing Martin Riggs, because apparently some kind of curse that goes with that role.
Clang Crawford.
But now they've parted ways with them and may not be renewed.
I mean, I don't see how you do when you get rid of Martin Riggs unless they, because he
is the lethal weapon.
They, there was talk that they were going to replace them with a female lead.
I, I don't know why they, did they not get my audition time?
That's why they decided to go with the woman, I think.
I, I could do that role.
I could do big smile, big smile, big smile.
I can do that.
Now, would you want to be known for?

Lucy Hale has kind of let it through, even though it has not been verified that the
CW is going to get rid of life sentence at the end of season one.
This was a, a show based on a lady who thought she was dying.
She had, oh no, no, she's terminal and then it is done.
It is done.
And then find out she's not and has to undo all of the basically like inflated credit card
bills and things of that nature because she thought she was terminal.
Fox has canceled Brooklyn 99, but now you're saying NBC's picked it up.
Did you tell me that in pre sure?
Yes.
I was going to go to, they were trying to get it to Hulu, Hulu turned it down and NBC's
picked it up because NBC sold a show to Fox initially and they said they're happy
to have it back.
And you know, I have, even though I've never watched an episode, I do have a, a passing
interest in it because it does feature Coca-Cola Creek High School alumnus Joe Patrullio,
big fan and then he and his brother and I weren't band together in middle school.
So the, the CCHS contingent stays alive along with Emmy Award winner Bobby Cannabell.
Now you know what I got rid of all those shows, right?
Why that particular block of shows got, got down the way because Fox is making more room
for football during the week.
But that's only for like four months.
I'm just saying that's why they did it.
That's why Fox is saying they did it.
They're also getting their schedule for it.
Also getting rid of the Mick, which is a very interesting situation because the future
of it's always sunny in Philadelphia has been up in the air because Caitlin Olson was doing
the Mick and now you've got the guy that plays Dennis is on that AP bio on, on NBC getting
very mixed reviews.
I think that's been, I haven't heard the official word on that.
Let me, let me check on that.
And Fox also cancelling the last man on earth, which does surprise me.
I'm surprised it stuck around as long as you and me both.
I was very surprised by that.
That was, that was a very sketchy concept.
NBC, we talked about them just a moment ago.
They've canceled taken again, something that I felt like outlived its shelf life.
But it is being shopped elsewhere.

It seems like we're doing a lot of, you know, we'll give you this show for a show to
be named later, kind of a thing going on right now.
Bert Reynolds back on track, he's in talks to be in Quentin Tarantino's next movie once
upon a time in Hollywood.
How do you feel about this?
I don't know enough about it to make a difference.
All I know is supposed to be doing Star Trek.
It's all in them.
I thought that this was going to be his telling of the whole Manson story.
I thought he abandoned that.
No, I thought that's what this one makes sense if it's called that.

here. No pun intended for a couple of years. It would have surprised me if the gifted had gotten

what he does. There we go. It really is like, you know what, I'm just going to leave it be.
Gentlemen, go ahead and introduce yourselves. Talk right into those microphones. Get right upon them.
Yes, my name is Ryan Trout. Alex Lenhard. All right. And John Donaldson. All right. Welcome
gentlemen to the show. What year in school are you? We're all seniors. So it's the ball game at
this point. Playing to finish, as they say, as my Marlins have now said in May before the season
ends because the Marlins are terrible. How are you guys feeling right now? Like you've gotten through
your last film festival. It's all over about the crying. How are you feel right now? I mean,
I'm feeling pretty good. Honestly, like, I was just really excited to see some of the underclass
in films because you know, historically, you gain a certain amount of skill. You're right up on
that microphone. You get a certain amount of skill as you progress through the film program. But
we had some really talented freshmen and sophomores this year and I was really excited to see that.
I think it's a great legacy to leave behind. Did you guys have any films in the festival this year?
I had four. Okay. Tell me what they are. Did you guys talk about them?
Oh, well, a lot of them we've all worked on. But I had a trailer and it was just kind of for a movie
we worked on. We never finished. But then I had- Which was for what? Oh, it was called Hard
Cell. It was just about- Okay. Yeah. It was just about a girl who works at a store and then
when it's really boring and one day it gets robbed and then she becomes like best friends at the
rover because it's something not boring. But we all worked on a PSA about smoking called the
PS. That was actually the first film that we watched. We actually watched the last half hour of
the films before the festival because we had to get here and get set up. So when you guys got here
we were up enrolling. Very impressive that PSA. It takes a very interesting turn about two-thirds
of the way through. Can you guys talk about like what made you want to make that in the process
therein? Right. So we did that for one of our IB projects for school, right? IB being
International Bashalore. We got to make sure we don't assume everybody knows. So- So we did this for
a school project, right? For something that wasn't in our film class. So we just did it over the summer.
And we wanted to do like you know one of those corny PSAs and like try to make it funny because
that makes it stick with people. So we're like oh we could just like hammer them with facts but like
make it a funny thing so the facts actually stick. So we were like oh just make it as dramatic as
possible and then just switch it on and then make it goofy. And I'll tell you one thing I really
dug about you guys as PSA and not not to give away what my judges comments were because we did
judge it and we were judging you outwardly I promise. Is the use of color? There were there in
different depending on who was talking at the time and who was in the shot there was a different
color filter. Can you talk about the the conscious decision to do that? If it was a conscious decision
maybe you just fell in your lap I don't know. All right I know. Yeah so we had an LED light that I
got from my boss and my job and we had a bunch of gels from the school so we're like I don't
know just do it. We were gonna do green and make it all green and spooky right but then the green
didn't look good it was too dark. So we had like a bluish green and there's two people named Savannah
that worked on the project. We'll say blue Savannah and green Savannah. Basically the light was
uneven and we actually really liked how it turned out. So the darker area with that same light
ended up looking a like greener and murkier and then right when the light was right like shining
on blue Savannah it was more blue right. So are there any limitations from I guess from the
standpoint of locations that you guys have to shoot out for your projects are there any limitations
that are put on you of where you can you can't shoot? I think they're self-imposed ones like it was
obviously supposed to be like a shady area but we didn't want to go to a shady area at 3 a.m. in
the morning and die because that's what she do yeah nothing good happens after midnight we know
that yeah so we literally filmed at a church so I like point because like points in the credits
right rock wall so it's like this really fancy church it's like huge and nice but they have
like these old portables see that's why I thought you guys shot it here because you were in between
portable classroom yeah no so it was like old portables that they used to use and I think they're
demolishing now because they're building a new building so like in the meantime they have portables
and we're like yes this was amazing and is also in the safest place ever in the mean streets of
rock wall for those of you that because we we are the internet so this is worldwide uh rock wall
very affluent section of town at one point I was told the richest county in the state uh-huh
because that's why we don't go there very often exactly they see us coming and like walls form
it's not it's not pretty how long did it take you guys to actually do the shooting of it um that
particular film was actually one shoot uh because we had to try and schedule with about five actors
in the three of us in the middle of summer so in order to get around that we just made it one
shoot in that parking lot in that church from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. one night and by the end we started
it ended up rushing a little bit so the shots that are focusing on the main character named Jimmy
in that acted by a guy named Joel James did he want to be called Jimmy uh yes um but he
those last shots of him are we wanted to get them on a almost shaky cam and it ended up working well
because we didn't have time to set up a tripod for every shot of that anyways well you mentioned
that you shot this in the summer at the end of the year before do you guys know from the program
standpoint do you know what you're going to be shooting for the fall coming up or did this all just
kind of fall into place because you are working on it for a different project for your I.B.
Well this wasn't actually a uh the assignment was not to make a film it was really broad it
basically kind of like a service project I think that's the best way to put it and we thought okay
well all three of us are in a film so maybe the best service project we can do is a public service
announcement so okay we'll just use what we know from film and we'll use that for the project so
really really um to answer your question we didn't know exactly what we're into because it wasn't
an assignment we started formulating towards the end of the year but like really we didn't
script and we didn't storyboard until school was out so it was all it was all pretty self-paced
okay so but you mentioned that you were doing it for your I.B. did it just kind of lean
lead into you go oh we can just do this for film class too or was that kind of was that
part part of the motivation there um it actually we never did it for film class we did it for that
and just that and then part of that was that we wanted to try and submit it to multiple festivals so
throughout the school year we've been submitting it to things like Pegasus and Diff and then our
festival just to try and get that publicity for the public service announcement so it's almost time
to shuffle off this building where are you guys going we're all going in the house all the A&M
not the college nation congrats man wow yeah so so these people want real jobs and they're
going to go be engineers but I'm doing a visualization which is like modeling and 3D stuff um
that's more like tech base um and I think I'm gonna still try to go into the industry like the film
industry and do that kind of stuff um so that's I'm really excited about that all right so before I
know we're getting the high sign before we let you go and we're gonna ask this question of all
of our guests tonight it is the summer movie season what movie are you most looking forward to
seeing as you haven't seen yet all right um I want to do it first so I'm still mine uh I want to
see eighth grade by Bob Burnham I missed that at the Dallas International Film Festival it was at it
and we we were in the middle of testing and stuff we couldn't go so I want to idea because I'm a big
Bob Burnham fan I want I've heard great things out of South by Southwest about that film I would
just like to say I would like to fight John for going first because I have the exact same answer
but there's nothing wrong with that we had a lot of that last year I'm really basic I want to
honestly Deadpool too well you got what six days somebody I want to mention his name is already
seen it all right gentlemen go enjoy the reception and we're looking forward to seeing you guys here

cavalcade of stars shows I'm glad we got all the headlines out of the way yeah because we're not
gonna go to anything else besides that for the rest of the evening we have two more guests talk
right into those microphones tell us who you are Richard Dong I may be Herman all right so tell me
what kind of things you guys worked on the festival uh so this year we made a doc documentary together
and I also made a music video she made her own music video and then she also has another one
I do I had um the family first the narrative interesting so I you brought you guys both worked
on my house yes yes very very strong themes through both of these films yes and I'm not we're
not allowed to talk about what we said because you know you guys know we don't know we're judges
so we are definitely judging you tonight I'm not like not like right now like we're cool right now
but when we go back to the other side we got to put our other hats on talk about
what brought you to want to do these types of things because your project was about a mother
working two jobs eldest son has to take care of the other two your individual project the
documentary you worked on together you and it was six different Vietnamese families yes six of
their experiences of their families experiences coming here from Vietnam their identities with
that culture if they've gone back very very powerful pertinent stuff how long did it take you to get
all that footage just to put it together oh two two weeks maybe it took longer to get the photos
because as you know people didn't really want to give out their personal the interviews themselves
only took around two days to get together but in time but it was over the span of like two weeks
yeah so you said you also did a music video yes we did two different ones okay which one
did you do mine was slow world okay okay so with this do you have to look for or though were
these bands that were local bands that gave you their music how did that work actually it's a band
mr. shubit has a friend who was in the band and so they gave us permission to use these songs oh
nice very nice and then something about Shanghai I come to Shanghai I come to Shanghai name of the band
oh that's the name of the band yeah okay I thought that was in the song no no because I saw it more than
once in the deal that's the only reason okay okay what was there a process by which you pick the
songs or the songs that you just dug or where you just like pull a rabbit out of a hat okay that's
the one we're using so he gave us like a bit of time to listen through them and we listened to like
two seconds like we went this one yeah that's basically how it went and I really liked like you
guys made choices and if I remember correctly because man I've watched a lot of films in the last
24 hours both of you if I'm not mistaken made a conscious choice to not lip sync to the song but in
order to tell a narrative to the song is that correct hers had a bit of lips but you have a very
very small bit it was very small but it was more about the visual it's about the story at the
song dealt a story right when so much a performance piece as far as singing the song it was just
right it was it was the recurring thing is music video directions something that you're you're
gravitating towards or was this something you were just more experimenting with I think it was more
of a challenge for us personally to create a narrative with a story that wasn't ours and a story
we had to like interpret from someone else's word for me I have no experience at all with music
so it was definitely me trying to like dip my toes in I found it interesting but I don't know if
it's something I want to do in the future necessarily where you guys at your high school careers
we're juniors so next year's the big year yeah so have you been in the film program the entire time
I have I haven't I joined last year I mean that's fine I mean like I was a band kid but I didn't
join until eighth grade I was two years behind everybody else so it's okay what are you are you
looking to pursue this after high school or is this more of a hobby for you I think
I was like the audio version of a photo bomb what just happened for me I think the film is
something I really want to pursue afterwards especially with all of the technical and narrative
aspects of it I don't know what I want to do yet nothing wrong with that trust me there's
nothing wrong you got your entire life to figure it out that's so much so I just lost my
train of thought okay nobody's listening it's just us right now okay were there anybody else's
films that really kind of knocked you out like in the good of the bad way in the good way we don't
want to talk about it I really like Craig Craig very very funny so can can you guys explain to us
why there was a trailer and the narrative is somebody else cut the trailer is that how that
works it's a thing that our teacher Mr. Schubert yeah great Mr. Schubert he should not be named
um he sold it more today he presents the seniors with the challenge of creating a full length
seven minute film as well as having to create a trailer for them because the first years and the
fourth years have the project of creating trailers but it's like a growth thing to see where if they
like progress right okay what about you you didn't say what you what you do you're not getting out of
this okay I like to but I think their music video just it gave me uh I can only spend it oh yeah
well very well shot okay so I'm getting the highest time we got to keep moving on but we're
asking everybody before they leave what movie are you looking most forward to seeing right now that
you haven't seen you know I haven't seen I got a screener for it I still haven't watched I haven't
watched it either there's nothing wrong with that so you have to see it all right guys go get food

the J of G and J's detective agency all right so let's talk about your film first shot completely
in black and white yes talk about the choice to actually do it that way get right up on that
microphone I thought when we shot it it was not shot in black and white shot in color but then I
thought it's kind of detectives kind of war so I'm gonna go ahead and make it black and white make
it a little more interesting and have it like stand out among all the other films and I've heard
doing it that way instead of shooting in black and white actually works better is that true
it just depends on your editing program and it really just depends on your lighting I mean it was
attended to be a new age news I I wanted to be in color but I want it I thought it would be
better until I pay respects like and really make it like fit the genre of detectives I gotta say
smart choice I'm just gonna say it very wise choice because you know we're judges so we can't
tell you what we like to know what we didn't but I will say great choice there uh and then I
lose my train of thought because I'm old and I can't remember the things I think about where
are you guys at in your high school careers all seniors I'm yeah yeah we're all seniors so it's
it's all over but the crying right now right yeah this is it this is suicide lead off third in the
pictures about to overthrow so you can steal home what's happening after graduation I am gonna try
to do film I'm gonna either do it YouTube or SNU okay yeah I'm gonna try I'm gonna try and see
what happens I'm young enough to worry about Phil I can still you know go do something else so
exactly now are you looking to stay behind the camera in front of the camera both neither yeah no
I I wish I did more acting in my high school career but I definitely like writing and directing
itself so probably focus primarily behind the camera and then maybe a little bit in front I went
to a screening the other nine actually that's I'm gonna do that a minute sir where do you what's
your plans um I'm actually taking a gap here okay you got the wrong with that and I'm probably
gonna take some courses for like calculus and physics and stuff just to be able to enter at a
higher level when I do go to college that's some are fun for this guy speed to you sir I'm a nerd
but I'm also intending on your geek let's be real I'm nervous with social skills that's the
difference in Chris Hardwick says it I believe it appreciate it um I'm also intending on spending
some time learning animation programs so like I took I took a year course for animation this year
and I find it very interesting so I'm planning on trying to learn programs like Maya my brothers
gonna teach me how to code unity and unreal and so well that also ties into a math in the science too
yeah exactly and so I'm hoping to be able to get my feet on the ground with that so that if I
end up wanting to go into animation I can do stuff like modeling and design or I might end up
becoming like a theoretical physicist or something plenty of options ahead of me you game design too
all right well I'm gonna be studying at the University of North Texas I'm gonna be trying to
learn business but a lot of the reason I'm gonna be going there is Denton's a good college
town and I'm trying to get a kind of a stand-up comedy career going I've done a little bit why am I
not surprised I know everyone's a comedian it's gotta it was the phrase you got jokes two years
we've seen this guy that's kind of where I figured he was at indeed indeed yeah I'm definitely
gonna be going to Denton trying to get my comedy craft the ground in I'll definitely be sticking
around Dallas a little bit trying to get some acting gigs as I go I really enjoy working on the
screen but again I'm gonna be sticking with college because I I don't want to have a traditional
education make the parents happy yeah I'm gonna fall back on too because this business is so fickle
well not only that but it's fun to say our comedian it's even more fun to see the blank
expressions when you say I'm studying logistics and supply chain management and you know what that
is if nothing else hmm hilarious but you know what that that just subgenre of comedy is growing
at an exponential rate there are there is an industrial engineer comedian out there the student
very very well in that way really well you know how much I listen to Bob and Tom that's true
they they know all about the visit they're saying that the the niche quote-unquote geek comedy is
growing like a week I mean it makes a lot of sense what with the increased amount of young people
going to college attending these comedic performances and having them increase in majoring in like
STEM fields they're gonna have a deeper appreciation for these nerd comics and I will and I'll
tell you as darkest things are we need comedy now more than ever like the last couple times
that Gallagher came to town didn't he play at a comedy club right over there by you in Lewisville
yeah yeah right street do you know the name of the joint I don't remember off hand I must say he
might want to look into it once he gets over there I'm definitely looking into it I'm measuring
screenwriting and I went to a screening tonight of a movie you guys have to watch here because it's
called upgrade comes out June 1st it's really awesome I can't talk about it because the embargo is
not up but the writer director was there to an Australian guy he was saying I love screenwriting but
it's the most torturous thing I can do in my life because directing it's already there you know
it's it's getting something from my brain to make it work it's so rewarding but when you're in
the thick of it it's gotta be one of the most painful things I've done that is one of the reasons
why I wanted to do right and directing at this because I've done films in the past where I've
written it and I passed it off to someone else and I just saw that like completely like what are
you doing to my baby I get misinterpreted yeah so I really wanted to try and deliver my vision
of the film and I like what what what how it turned out I really do didn't get as many laughs
as I thought but again it is I was last year I made big mainstream and that was a full-on like
comedy like yes yes it was oh my god you're supposed to laugh at everything I still remember that
that was just full throttle weirdness and this year I wanted to I don't want to do the same thing I
wanted to try to go for more serious like add a little drama in there maybe like a better call
assault type like type tone thing so I will tell you got plenty of laughs in my living room when
I watched it last night so thank you how was your lead from that doing by the way from bang bang
stream yeah he's doing good um he I obviously think cast on this because I didn't want it to be
like the same thing right the same two actors but different story but yeah he's still here as
he moved on to call did he graduate last year he's gonna be graduating this year okay okay all right

also been avoiding infinity war spoilers like the plague but to avoid saying the same thing as

second time I've got a screener for it and I still haven't watched it because god knows I'm
never home the trailer for lady bird just blew me away and I've just been wanting I've been dying
to see it since then it's been probably to go put upgrade on your list yes I'm saying it's go
out you could read the IMDb subject but yeah let me see probably not supposed to say it but I'm

festival um I worked on Craig and I can only spin okay I made the grass trailer I worked on
G and J's detective agency and I can only spin I'm a little worried that you had to read that off
of your name tag she had to keep track of everything my mind's going everywhere I'm like I'm really
hyped up so yeah and I worked on G and J's with Jillian and then also I can only spin
great stuff we can't talk about what we liked and what we didn't because you're
gonna find out what we thought here in a little while great where are you guys at in your high school
careers uh ready for graduation all right all three of you as their seniors yes uh so where is
college you went to you and I'm going to you TD maybe university at Texas Dallas yes because we're
all over the world so people are like we don't know what that is so we have to explain it to
okay yeah actually means we're here going to the university in Texas together so
so rooming together no we'll be there we'll see each other every once and again but not so much
each other are you afraid that living together might ruin the friendship okay that's fair that's
fair that's fair so some pretty strong stuff this year I feel like this is our second year doing
this last year we were like blown away by the work you guys are doing this year you've kind of
up to the bar some really really cool stuff out there uh I can only spin a music video with a very
last one shown this evening see we we had to watch the last half hour before we got here because
we had the lead to come get set up here so we were here with you guys were so I've watched everything
last night so again we can't talk about it you can talk about it here in about an hour right but
what kind of things did you guys really enjoy in the festival this year oh um you know I really
enjoyed just seeing like the underclassmen just make these amazing films and it just makes me feel
like a lot better just passing down the church for these next years and for the future generations
yeah I don't know what it is like maybe it's because it's my last year or something but I just
loved every single movie that played I was just so blown away by everything that everyone is done
it's and there was literally something for everybody there was some artsy stuff and there was
some funny stuff and there was some serious stuff and there was some documentary stuff and I
really I dig the diversity that you guys bring as an entire organization I still want to clip
the guy upside the head it made me do this for a puck man and you know what you know why I don't
have to because I didn't I was like I feel like there's some kind of a payoff where they're you
I'm gonna get laughed at so I am staying right but I very much enjoyed that especially since he
did the sound effects yeah I'll be I'll be working that out in therapy so when college gets here
are you guys sticking with the film thing are you going in different direction oh I'm sticking
with the film yeah in front of her behind the camera because you've done both yes I've done both
but I'm going to be producer so maybe not necessarily behind the camera but definitely like working
for the camera okay fair enough okay I'm gonna do film I'm minoring in film though because I
wanted to major in interior design you know where you can morph those together yeah well that's
actually what I did for I can only spend was production design so all the lighting and stuff
with me all of the like just locations and stuff like I had sat there and like put props and like
costumes and stuff and I like doing that a bit more just because I'm in theater too and so I'm
majoring in interior design minoring in film and if I end up like still being like a camera man
or whatever during it I'm actually not going to continue with film I'm going to try biomedical
engineering see how that works out for me I can see a transition there so natural but I probably
would just keep film as a hobby because it's been super fun but there's been a lot of stress too
and it's just one of those things that I'm like yeah I can enjoy it but not all the time I just
love that you guys have this program you know I think it's an amazing amazing thing we are both
students of film but we didn't have those opportunities because you know when we were kids they
didn't have movies you just had to like paint on tape wall yeah I said we yeah I said we I didn't
mean just you you sir I spared you the age joke and I put myself in the boat with you you should
be happy with that the gray harry fool no but let's be honest all right I know we want to let
you guys go have some fun because it's the reception before all the nerves settle in we asked
everybody that we've had on the show the same question as we close up what movie are you looking
forward to seeing that you haven't seen yet okay I really want to see eighth grade it played at the
I missed it at the Dallas National Film Festival I saw it did you go burn them film yes it was
fantastic I've been recommending it to everyone so when it comes out in theaters you must must must watch it
okay yeah okay I actually don't know what movie I want to see it because I'm still trying to work
on like all the movies that just came out that's fair it is a summer movie season yeah like I
haven't even seen a white place yet no like just half and they're doing the sequel they are doing
the sequel yeah so I'm trying to catch up before I like see something else and I will tell you we got
about three more weeks till it comes out the mr. Rogers documentary once you be my neighbor yes I
heard run don't walk to see that I watched out the Dallas National Film Festival last weekend and
about two thirds of the way through they were actually passing tissues through the theater yeah it's
really that good and you know it comes out this weekend which surprisingly enjoyable for me
life of the party real new Melissa McCarthy it's not back to school make make understand it it's not
back to school it's not like a remake of that it's a lot of fun don't expect don't expect a lot of
story expect a lot of fun and you're fine can I see please do don't on mr. Rogers how many times
they ever seen me cry in a movie I've never seen you cry in a movie and I didn't see you cry in
this one because I was sitting behind you but I did crack actually get it fair enough fair enough
yes there's a specific reason I don't see in cry movies because he usually sits in front of me so I
can't see him anyone just kick him in the head and make him stop crying but we've got a lot of

yeah all my friends were like oh it's your film so um for me seeing the get right up on that
microphone sir seeing the older people that make films I I want to be as great as they are because
they have some amazing films as well and so they influence me to make my films better
so are you guys planning on sticking with this all the way through yes yes talk about we can
talk about him because he's not listening talk about Schubert as a teacher he's a good teacher
I like him he's he teaches us in a way that is fun and interesting he's just not like oh here's
a bunch of film about there's a bunch of notes about film instead he just he makes it his own notes
and I think that's very like notable does we're big fans of the dude and uh his entrance tonight
because you guys were doing a Jurassic Park theme which is why Dave was here with his Jeep
Schubert I mean and I you that dude did a full sprint in the t-rex costume I'm worried about the guy
I thought he was going to turn an ankle or something and I'm going to be honest with you
in the pantheon of funny those t-rex costumes is very very I don't care who when I was at Dallas
fan expo there was like a little three year old and a baby t-rex costume that's a smaller version
of that I swear I almost peed on myself laughing it's so bright it's because their arms are
little like they're moving faster than their head because their head's like way back here so with
you guys just kind of starting out in this deal as you were working on your projects did you find
it harder than you expected easier than you expected or write about what you thought it was very
stressful than I expected because you have to get everything in place and at the right time
there's a lot of people you have to depend on get right up on that microphone get right up on
yeah there you go there's a lot of people you have to depend on but when it comes out it's like
it was all worth it there's definitely a lot more work behind the scenes than it looks like
and a lot of effort goes into these films does it make you when you go scene movies go
do you have to feel your pain do you do you find that you appreciate on a different level or do
you still appreciate on the same level that you did before it's a whole different level now
all right do you do you find yourself watching things a little closer yes yeah like oh I see what
you did there but I didn't know that you could do that there before I did this yeah definitely
so I can't I have to lose it I am so tired we have been like we have been nonstop for like four
weeks straight and this is the culmination of everything so we actually saw some of the films
last night we watched the rest of them today did anything stand out for you guys that you didn't work
on the Craig film was very well written I liked it a lot I enjoyed it anytime you put puppets in
anything I'm in I'm in on all things puppet makes you want to go visit Athens yeah I didn't
know that there wasn't Athens Texas you didn't wow okay it's a big state El Paso's halfway
to Los Angeles that's how big this state is true are you sir yeah I liked Craig but they'll
want about the the drug awareness I forgot the name something up make it choice yes no yes make it
no no the first one yeah the first one that's what's called oh the first one okay yeah the first one
oh yes say yeah the PSO okay it was really well well written and it didn't it took me a little

right next to him no but I will say that surprise you that's too complicated a task I literally

you very clearly on the screen in in plain English but that was really what made you decide to do
it that way was it just because you wanted to see people do that in a in an auditorium or oh no
actually it was kind of a problem like when we had you doing on an iPad or a camera and since we
couldn't actually straighten it out or then like the screen would cut off we had to do it like that
like and it wouldn't it you couldn't adjust for it you're just like just roll with it we'll make
everybody look at it sideways yeah because we adjusted it straight up like the screen we actually
cut off parts of it you can eat it anymore okay yeah and I respect that you did the sound
affects yourself is that you uh no my my actual group is actually like not here like one of them
next year but he was even nervous okay but I just respected you didn't go for video game noises
you actually made the noises yourselves then it went down down down down down down down yeah
actually what a yum right there yeah when it turned and with the turning of the ghost it was
very very well Moses let's talk about you what was your I was out of the films you worked on
What kind of things Wauju is during the festival?
Like, other people go to the list.
Yes, absolutely, your classmates filmed.

Oh my god, there was just so many, honestly,
that it's kind of hard to think of.
Oh, single on Valentine's Day was absolutely...

Well, um, I'm actually just a junior in marching band.

Um, it totally changed my view on film and everything
because me as an actor, I got to see how it was actually created.
And I think it enhanced my ability as an actor as well.

Seeing the, the, the level of accountability they want to hold you to,
that kind of makes you up your game a little bit.

Um, I worked on the evolution of love with Moses.
Very interesting stop motion animation style.
And what made you say I want to tell this story, the number one, the way I told it,
and what brought you to want to tell that story?
Laziness.
Honestly.
Because I don't know that I would put stop motion animation and laziness in the same sense.
Because that's very painstaking.
It is.
It was honestly because, first of all, my biggest concern about animation was the characters.
And having to draw them and stuff.
And then having to have their clothes and stuff like that.
So that's why we made them black.
I guess to like, I don't know.
I was just lazy and I.
I thought it was a very mature view of the lifespan of a couple.
That you watched it all the way through.

Oh, it was packed.

You know, that first row of studio movie girl is not good to sit in anyway.
And that was the only only place where there were seats left.
I feel like this is the first time and not just because it was less days.
I feel like I blinked and the diff was over.
Yep.
It's because I had so much going on outside of diff this week that I missed so many great films.
And it's totally kicking me in the butt.
I'm kicking myself in the butt.
Yeah.
Well, it's hard when you're working.
When you're working it, I mean, we, there were so many good films this year at diff.
It really was strong watch too.
So we're just hopeful that they're going to be coming back in another capacity.
I'm going to say something else that's really cool for you.
I have this routine that I go through on Fridays.
When I get to work this Friday, I'm trying to ease into my weekend.
Right.
I go to IMDB and I go to the poster gallery and I see what the new posters are.

There are things down to three was a little bit tough this year for me.

So one of the things that we actually talked to Schubert about is seeing that he wants some
of the kids to come, maybe work cameras, get some volunteer hours.

And they say something like they want to help us out.
And the kids can get their volunteer hours and they can get some.
And we want to make sure that you and Mark come out this year.
I would love that.

Because yeah, I must have had, I think I had another event or something.
We're going to let this week's weekend last year.

We've decided we're going to do Labor Day weekend.
