We are reviewing the brand new film directed by Byron Howard Rich Moore.
And one other person.
This is three directors.
Jared Bush is the third director of Zootopia, the latest film from Walt Disney Pictures
Animation.
Before we start this whole thing.

We have to think Jenna, Susan, everybody at Susan Jacobs and Disney.

Not only do we get to watch this movie.
We got to watch this movie in IMAX 3D.
Can be better.

This was our first 4A into the IMAX world.
Into pure IMAX.

Here's what you need to know.
Zootopia takes place in a world where animals have evolved.
Instead of people.
All the animals.
So there is a class system.
You have predators.
You have prey.
But they have learned to live and work together.
It centers around Judy hops.
Who oddly enough is a bunny.
Voiced by the great Jennifer Goodwin.
Who doesn't want to be a farmer like her family.
She wants to break the mold.
She wants to be a cop.
She goes to the academy.
She graduates from the academy as the first bunny to ever do so.
Although we can't call them bunnies.
We have to call them rabbits.
Okay.
And she is assigned to downtown Zootopia.
Which is her dream job.
Where she finds out that she is not exactly.
Welcome Domitian.
She becomes a meter made until she.
Weasels her way.
No pun intended.
In to a case where a bunch of animals are disappearing.
And she ends up teaming up with the unlikely person or fox.
They nick wild.
Voiced by the great Jason Bateman.
Who is a con man?
He is a con man.
Who are con fox?
He slides fox.
See what they did there.
Yeah.
And they end up working together.
And that's best deep as I want to go on this.

Jenny, I want to start with you.
Let's just dive right in.
Like a dolphin.
Just he just got what the song.
You're welcome internet.
Visually.
This thing is stunning.
You ain't kidding.
I mean, and I know we had the added advantage of.
You know, watching something in the most ultra HD format.
You could possibly wrap your head or other you ain't lying.
The level of detail just keeps getting.
I remember the first time I saw a cinematic in a video game.
And I saw individual strands of hair.
And I'm like, man, it just doesn't get better than this.
This is like 95.
Yeah.
You know, you.
It's just a toy story came out.
Uh-huh.
From Pixar.
I remember this is not a pixel.
We have to do this.
Walt Disney animation.
Even though they're the same company now.
This, this is a different branch of said company.
Uh-huh.
And I think a lot of people are going to think this is Pixar.
It's that beautiful.
I mean, just when you look at the.
I mean, you see the condensation on on her nose.
You know, it's in certain scenes.
And just that the tiny tiny little individual strands of fur on her face.
And I mean, you could pick out individual strand of hair.
The movement of hops is ears.
Mm-hmm.
However, she's she's walking the ears kind of fall back to the back.
It just the little things done.

I put on there.
I don't have words on how blown away I was on this.
Absolutely gorgeous.
The good dinosaur, which we got to review also from, you know, the Disney family.
Two of us did.
Yeah.
Um, I thought that animation was incredible.
This was just as much.
I mean, when she's going through the train through the city and the water.
It looks so real life.
You know, it was animated.
The night scenes and the jungle and stuff.
I was blown away.
Oh, wait.
I did during the film, especially when she's hit in the city for the first time.
I was just a nod.
I can't explain.
I was just mind blown.
And the movements are so fluid.
Everything on this visually works for me.
Which leads me into voice casting.
I mean, everybody was perfectly cast.
Even Shakira, who plays Gazelle, who's oddly enough.
A gazelle.
What a shocker.
There's, I had so much fun.
I mean, you knew who these voices were, but it wasn't one of those.
Ooh, that's this person.
Ooh, that's that person.
It was like, I just want to relax and watch this and enjoy because they cast everything.
So, well, that it all just works together.
I, this is a compliment.
I didn't know that was JK Simmons toy.
I, there was quite a few people.
I didn't know that was until the prank.
That's Simmons.
Oh my.
JK Simmons plays the mayor.
Yeah.
And when you can't even.
Mayor Lionheart, who oddly enough is a cheetah.
You have the voice as you know from these great movies.
And you don't even recognize him.
That is a great, great compliment for me.
Two dick.
Yeah.
That one.
No clue.
No clue.
I picked up on it on Elba and Simmons relatively quickly.
But Tommy Chang.
Tommy Chang.
Yeah.
Tommy Chang.
Yeah.
Tommy Chang plays a yak who works in a, in like a health spa.
And it's brilliant.
But my shot out has to go to Bateman.
He really was good in that.
He made that role.
And I'm a fan.
Oh, no.
He added so much to that fox character.
Because just of his voice, he didn't style in his tone in manorism.
I was blown away.
He got my shining star.
And the way they even animated these people around it.
It just everything just works.
Now, for me, my favorite character.
And I don't know how to do this without giving anything away.
But Maurice Lamarche's Mr. Big.
Yeah.
That's all I have to say.
Let's just say when you see this and you see his character,
you're going to know right away who I'm talking about.
Because if you know anything about me,
there is an homage in this film.
That just makes me happy.
Totally.
You're like, Oh, please.
Oh, yes.
You did come in.
And I was just so brilliantly done.
Oh, it's not overdone.
It's, it's just perfect.
It's just perfect.
Perfect.
Another thing I really dug about this.
Or the subtle things.
And when I watch films,
I want to, you know,
I look for stuff that's just in the background.
And they did that really well.
For instance, when the,
there's a scene where where hops is chasing a criminal through
a, the rodent section of town.
And they're coming out of shopping at Target.
Like that.
Those thing kind of things make me happy.
You know, and, and they, and of course,
Disney's really good at that.
But it just, it,
I loved everything about this film,
even getting into the story.
What I really dug about the story here.
Probably there was one other one instead.
The computer happened in Apple.
It was a carrot.
Yes.
And they had the iPod on the iPad.
Yeah.
And one word.
Sloths.
That's all.
Wow.
That's all I'm saying.
That's all we have to say.
What do you see this you will understand?
But getting, when you get into the story,
there's so many angles to this story that work.
And I said to my written review,

That,
there's enough material to keep the adults paying attention.
But not in a way that they're going to have to answer
uncomfortable questions going home.
I think that this film opens up dialogue on a really healthy level,
because one of the things that get that,
that the underlying messages in this film,
and I don't know if this is just good timing.
But they talk about the fact that all lives matter.
And I really dug that about it,
but they don't do it in a way that clogbers you over the head.
Yeah, they don't.
It doesn't get preachy.
No.
Don't get throat.
Nothing like that.
I mean, and that was to me,
the most pleasant surprise about this film is that I walked away from it,
feeling like this was a message that they're really,
really passionate about.
And they had a very beautiful way of conveying it.
Very beautiful way.
And it's in a way that it flows into the story,
not the other way around,
which I really, really dug.
It kept me engaged the entire time.
It was past incredibly well,
especially for an animated film that's an hour 45.
Yeah, it is.
It didn't seem like you knew it was an hour 45,
but didn't seem like it.
It is the second longest animated film
from Disney Animation Studios after Fantasia.
Wow.
But it didn't seem long.
No, I love the pace.
That plot.
Well, I want to put two things in.
You said how there's enough for the adults.
There was more than enough for the adults.
A great, and watch this thing, and be entertained
the whole way through, even though this is also made for kids.
So that balance they did was just perfect.
And another thing, I don't know how much I left in a movie.
And that, I'm hard, I'm not even a part of the movie.
Years since I was, it was so hard and so much in a film.
I was just so surprised on this film.
Hey.

Just the fact that you put sloths working at the DMV like it's just
I'm just letting her reaction wait what
And then on we're gonna say is when they left the DMV
That was a brilliant moment. Yeah, I just driving at home. That's my charter. I was rolling so hard
You guys heard me laugh probably understand
You ever everybody was laughing
But you probably heard me laugh that hard so much so loud in a film in the longest time
There's there's nothing about this film. I don't know. Oh no, not at all. It's
I can't think of anything wrong. Not one thing. They don't want to play. They have they are now thoroughly proving that they don't need Pixar to tell a good story
On any level. Yeah, story wise or visually. I mean, they as far as Pixar's last outing
They kind of outpicks art. Oh, I agree with you there, and I didn't even see that film
You don't know how much word of mouth I've been saying about this film in the last couple days
Oh, we've been talking about it quite a bit. Everybody working everything. I'm about the time you hear this
It will be available to you. So yeah, shall we grab your way into great great family film for the underfire family. Absolutely. Yes
Well, let's let's bleed that right into the final analysis the way we do the final analysis on this show is
We don't give you thumbs-up thumbs down. We don't give you stars
We don't give you letter grades. You don't give you one to ten our audience whom we affectionately refer to as the Empire
They want us to go a little deeper. So we will
We're gonna ask two questions question number one is would you see this film again at the answers? No, then we're done here
The answers yes
We gauge that yes
On how far these boys are willing to go to see it again, would you pay full price to the theater?
Would you go to a Twilight show Matt and A early morning on a Saturday?
Would you maybe see it in second month at the dollar theater?
Would you go get it from a red box? Would you scream it from Netflix? Would you wait for it on cable?
Don would you see this again?
That's a definite how far you were going to go? I don't know it played the simple first
It's gonna get the coveted outstanding but price but I don't know if it gets the double with the 3D
I would agree. Yeah, I don't I have to treat we we got to see in 3D. I love seeing the 3D
But I don't know if it's really worth the extra price for 3D fair enough
You know, but beyond it is beyond this has one heck of a chance of making either a normal mention or a list at the end of the year
Wow, yeah, I loved it. Would you see this again? Oh heck yeah
How far you were willing to go all the way
Come with it. Yeah, but I'm with you. I don't know that that 3D really adds anything extra to this film
It didn't take anything away from it. Oh, no, no, but I don't know that that 3D is a necessity
I mean, I if you want to do I max go ahead
You know because of the just because you may not have the choice
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it may be you don't have
Six and one hand half does in the other you pretty much have to go all the way
But I would definitely see nine max if you can just get it nine max
But regardless you go see this thing. I don't care how you have to see it go see it
This may be one I may own I
Really liked it this much I would go see it full price in a theater and I think I would still buy the blue ray when it comes out
Cuz it's just that good how often do we give it?
Full price all round not all three of us at the same time. Three of them trust that it is called Zootopia
