Who would have fun?
I'm hungry.
Yeah.
I still ate before this movie.
And I still got hungry.
And we're talking about a movie today.
And we're talking about a movie that's about food.
It's called the trip to Italy.
It is actually the second installment
in a series starring Steve Cougat and Rob
Brighton.
Originally was a television show.
Then in 2010, made into a film and now in 2014,
they are making another one.
They're playing larger than life versions of themselves.
And basically after the success of their first publication,
they're being sent to Italy to go and eat and review restaurants
and things of its nature.
By the way, this is iTunes exclusive number 44.
We're getting up there.
We're getting up there.
You know what?
We got to think our butt friends out like because we
want to have while these 44s without them.
That's true.
I think everybody out like from Biden is to this thing.
Basically they're they get in a little mini Cooper,
which becomes a character in itself at one point in the film.
And they drive around the Italian countryside,
sampling local wares and then following some of the literary
grates and some of their footsteps around Italy.
And there are some subplots in there too.
But that's really what the form film boils down to.
As the television show and the first film,
it was directed and written by Michael Winterbottom.
So let's start there.
The look of the film I thought was gorgeous.
All I kept thinking is like,
America doesn't have number one stuff like this
and number two history like this.
Andrew, what were you thoughts?
I'll agree with that comment.
But we're still a young nation.
We're developing that.
That's true.
That'll come with time.
We're approaching 250.
Yeah.
We'll never see it.
But yeah, maybe we'll make that.
I really enjoyed it.
The scenery at first, I thought was going to be the high point,
just seeing the actual Italy.
Which would have been great.
It would have been.
But you know, comedy kicked in and that really took over.
Don?
Like I said, the comedy is very good.
But on the look of the film,
you're talking to countryside and a great land of Italy.
Not the big feral fairs you're talking to side roads of Italy.
That's all you have to say.
And even if you hit the throw fairs, you'd rather be on the pitch.
Yeah, exactly.
That means they're driving on these roads there.
Like if you go the wrong way, you're getting to drop about a hundred feet into the ocean.
But I really enjoyed the look of the film.
The only thing I enjoyed more was watching the food come out.
And after doing this, I go, I'm like,
I would love to.
If I had the money, I'd love to take a tour like this.
I'm just eating, seeing the countryside and eating the food.
But the look of the film because I think it's Italy.
And it's great parts of Italy,
and it's short parts was very good.
Which leads us into the performances, of course,
because you go from the scenes to the performances.
Steve Cogan, you might know.
You might know.
All of a sudden I'm talking to British.
I don't know.
You may know him from a traffic thunder.
He was also in all of the,
I especially the third upcoming night at the museum films.
Alan Partridge was a recent recent film that he did.
Rob Brighton, you don't really, America hasn't really experienced him yet.
But he does great work as you'll see in this film.
What shocked me is that winter bottom gets writing credit in this film.
Because I, at no point did I ever feel that this thing was scripted.
I really felt that everything was off the cuff and improvised and just kind of let them go.
Was that like the trips like the places they went?
Winter bottom.
Winter bottom wrote this and he wrote the first one and he held her at the TV series.
So I don't know if he scripted this or if he's just credited with writing it.
There are certain stuff the right, like the plots, the pipes,
and so there is going to be some writing.
But my question is that was all these little talks that they had.
Was it impromptu?
Was it on the flyer?
Or was all that stuff like concluding Batman and Marlin Brandon?
Both great comedic actors.
And when you get guys that kind of riff on stuff,
they do dueling Michael Caines from the Dark Knight Rises.
You know, my favorite line in the film and I'm not going to give it away.
I want you to see it is about Boobley.
Like it's, and I like the Michael Boobley.
But that line hit me like a train.
And I'm a big Steve Kuggen fan.
I think he's very, very funny.
And you really get to feeling that the two of these guys have known each other their whole lives.
And the, the rapport between them is so natural
and so like they know when to take it and when to give from each other.
And I mean Rob Ryden's Hugh Grant is pretty solid.
You know, and the impersonations and it's,
there's not a lot of emotion to the film, but there's a lot of funny.
Yes.
If that makes any sense.
Like I didn't feel like I was taking out an emotional roller coaster.
But I just felt like I was having fun, you know, for an hour and forty.
It almost felt like you were sitting there with them just laughing.
Like you're just at the table.
Yeah, you're at the next table just listening to these guys.
And you're like on that tour with them on the tour bus.
And they're the next couple over.
You know, in your own couple.
But if you read our reviews on cobbastplunkest.com,
I kind of made a reference saying that, you know,
you could, you could leave your mind at the door on this film,
but not your stomach.
Oh, absolutely.
Because it is a very simple movie.
The plot is very simple.
It's to traveling.
Going to Italy, staying at these places, eating the food,
and just talking.
There's a little few sub-pots, but the basic premise of this movie.
You could literally, I think, leave your,
of, oh, God of these.
You're welcome, Internet.
Very good.
The look on his face was like,
something is about to happen.
I just, I'm just watching and waiting.
And I'm just waiting.
But I'll leave that to that point though.
You can leave your mind at the door, but not your stomach.
But just like another movie we saw earlier this year,
Chef, same thing.
Yeah.
And I'm not going to put these two anywhere near each other,
because it's really apples and oranges between them,
but they do have in common.
Eat before you go or go somewhere where you can eat a meal during the film,
because you will be hungry by the end.
I didn't get a chance to eat dinner before we went in on this one.
And I was like, mush to have food now.
And then I had to settle for the McDonald's drive for it,
which didn't help because it was 1030 at night.
You know,
oh, I feel like it's really food.
And I mean, there's other characters in the film.
You meet their agent.
You meet a photographer.
And it's, you know,
you do it with Steve's relationship with his son.
And they're subplots, but they're not,
they don't detract from,
and they don't detract from the main story.
They kind of enhance it a little bit,
because it gives you a better background into the characters themselves.
Um,
I just, I really, really enjoyed this film.
There's,
and right now you can actually get a video on demand.
If you don't want to go to the theater,
it's available VOD right now,
which I think is great,
because I think that's kind of the direction a lot of films should go.
You know,
you can go and grab yourself some of your favorite Italian places,
and lay it all out on the table and sit at the house and watch this movie.
I really do, I,
you know, there's,
there's,
I can't say anything that I could be critical of this film,
because this film knows what it is,
and it's exactly that.
I,
there was a couple criticisms,
and that's why I'm not giving this film a review.
You're very done.
Number one,
I thought the ending just kind of ended there,
you know,
but how do you end it?
But I just think that was kind of just,
screeching halt and on the movie,
because they're doing what the somebody just says,
a couple things with the sun,
and then after that,
basically the movie ends.
It's like,
oh, kid ended here,
but, you know, at the beginning,
I love the film.
I loved everything about the film from the beginning,
but despite about the last third,
it just got a little old.
It got stale,
it was the same thing over and over,
and comedy can only run a movie so far.
And doing the same thing as part,
but yeah,
as I said,
if the movie was 60 minutes,
I would have been happy,
but just seen too long of the same stuff over and over,
just got a little too monotonous for me.
And see,
I disagree.
I never felt fine.
No, no, no, that's why we do this.
Yes, exactly.
I felt the comedy never got stale.
I mean, there was,
there was a certain point where I was kind of like,
okay,
I've heard enough you grant,
but it was still funny,
because he was still working it into the situation
and he was talking.
And that's why there were so many characters that came on near the end,
I think.
They would have something else to be funny about.
But the comedy was good all the way through,
but it just seemed a little too much of the same thing.
You know,
you can only write so many episodes of one thing or the other.
And there's a couple of references to that were,
that are British pop culture references.
That American audience may not catch,
but it's nothing that would you would go.
I don't get it.
Like, it's still funny enough,
the content of it's funny enough,
that you know where they're going.
And like,
they're doing like this fake talk show with each other,
where the blue blightline happens.
You don't know who they're doing,
what you know what they're doing,
and you're pretty sure that Rob Brighton's in person,
no matter who it is,
is dead on because he just he commits to the bit.
When they do the scene where
we're coogins trying to educate Brighton on how to do Brando
and the Godfather.
Yes, you know.
It's,
I just,
I loved everything about this movie.
It's,
it's honest with itself.
It doesn't try to be something that it's not.
It's,
it reminds me,
and I said to my review written review on the clubhouse podcast.com
that we saw a movie recently
that shall remain nameless
where it like it wanted to be a
buddy road trip movie,
and it failed miserably.
This one didn't.
I'm a big fan of the buddy road comedy.
Yeah.
You know,
I love grabbing a couple of friends
throwing the car.
Let's go drive somewhere
because some of the best moments
and the best memories you will have
are on those kind of trips.
Even if you're driving,
you know,
from Dallas to Austin,
which is three hours.
You know,
three years ago,
Chad, who's the other producer on the show,
myself,
and frequent guests of the show,
Doc Houser,
we all went down to Austin
because we auditioned for the
world series of pop culture.
And that road trip
was some of the most fun we've ever had.
And to see that genre
still alive,
because I think we lose that genre,
that whole,
you know,
Bob Hope and Bing Crosby
made a living at it for decades,
you know,
and I love those films when I was a kid.
See that kind of a film
come back.
It does make me want to go back
and watch the first one.
And if you haven't seen the first one,
there's nothing that you're missing.
Like,
These are two guys that are friends
and they're going on a road trip.
There you go.
And the first one is available on Netflix.
So I do want to see it.
Uh,
I just really, really, really enjoyed this movie.
Me too.
And what I like about it is the food
didn't really take over the film.
Like, they made the food
and then they would show
like a close-up of,
you know,
you know,
you know,
three stages on this.
The food,
the comedy,
and then,
just the travel.
So there's three people.
And if you like a lamb,
it's more a set.
Okay.
I want to go back to you.
You know,
yeah,
overall,
I mean,
I did like it.
It's just,
I just thought a little too much.
All right,
boy,
let's get into the final analysis.
When we do final analysis on the show,
Legend of Kings State,
the first stage is to
AUDI present in our original show,
whose standing praise or thumb up thumb down were
180-10 because our audience,
we believe is better than that.
And we want to give our audience
with a reserved program
to the show as well.
The original show.
And the last stage is the original podcast.
I think that they would
use this channel a lot above.
And for people who don't

Okay, so you say probably

How would you see it again? I would probably do myself only on something like K boy HBO

Or I'm just like around three that way you can go out and actually eat food afterwards
Like you said earlier in case you didn't eat like you don't want to get out of this thing at nine or ten o'clock and actually want to go get some food and then
I would see this again. I think it's a great date movie. Yeah, take somebody with you and it just
It's light-hearted enough that you can have some fun at it and you don't have to worry about you know
Is this gonna be too heavy or are we gonna have to do it? No, it's a fun movie to watch
If you're a fan of literature, there's a lot of literary references in it for you and just
Look what Italy looks like like how could you not want to go there, right? It's all I'm saying
