And I like action movies.
I talk about one here in a minute.
But I'm not alone for this particular episode. Joining me in the co-host chair is the lady of the house.
And she's not foreign to this show. She is general welcome friend. Hello everyone.
And to her left is the official fact checker of this show.
And a man that's apparently shadow boxing in the middle of the show. I'm not sure what's going on over there.
You may know him as Fondango but his mom and even Don Ford. I will call him Don Ford and I'm still looking at him very strangely.
Well it's Jackie Chan and I'm getting ready to do the Kung Fu fighting.
He was fast as lightning.
Oh my.
You lost two wheels.
I'm not going to judge you outwardly.
Whatever we do one of these is to review something and this is no exception. Director Martin Campbell is back.
You may know him from such films that he has directed.
He directed Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness. He directed Casino Royale.
He directed both of the newest Zorro films. He directed.
Good night.
He directed No Escape with Ray Leota.
And he also did Green Lantern. I enjoyed that film. Don't care what anybody says.
I liked it too.
But he is now back.
With a little movie called The Forerunner.
First off.
Ready to sing.
Oh, not that Forerunner.
You ready to sing?
Yep.
Alight, integrated marketing.
I think Bianca Holland and all of them there.
And we want to say the best of luck to Holland.
What's up with that?
I believe she was one of her last gigs with them.
Let me double check that.
But if I'm not mistaken, Holland has...

You know what? I'm going to double check that.
But I'm going to make sure because I could have sworn.
I saw that on there.
Yep. There it is right there.
What's that?
Holland has no longer part of the Allied family.
But we want to wish her the best.

So you got to be at one of her last screenings, Don.
She can still be part of the Empire.
Absolutely. We love Holland. We're big fans of her.
But it is called the Forner.
And it has two of them in it.
At least two.
Peer in America.
That's right.
Honorary Oscar winner this year.
Jack Chan.
Jack Chan is the man.
And it also has the Pierce Brosnan,
who has been directed by Martin Campbell before.
And Golden Night.
I'm doing a lot of singing in this episode.
Let me give you the IMDB description.
A humbled businessman with a buried past
seeks justice when his daughter is killed in an act of terrorism.
A cat and mouse conflict ensues with a government official
whose past may hold clues to the killer's identities.
People need to hire me to do voiceover work.
I can do this.
All right. You ready for the plot?
Didn't I just give it to you?
I want to do it for the Empire though.
I want to do the court style.
I want to do the back.
All right.
So you got Jack Chan.
He's about 60 now.
And he actually plays a role of like a six year old man
which I really enjoyed once I get to in a minute.
Because it's Jack Chan.
He he you know it's just him and his daughter.
You find out later in the film that his wife
and the other daughter were killed by a tragic event.
So it's just that's his only family as his daughter.
Well he takes her shopping for the dress,
for their homecoming.
coming and they're in London. It takes place in London. All right. And all of a sudden,
well, she goes into the store, but kaboom. There you go. Okay, loses his daughter, unfortunately.
So wait, he's in his 60s and she's a teenager. That is not out of the realm of possibility in this day and age.
No, no, no, I'm just trying to call her a kid at like 180. I am not questioning his abilities. I'm
just questioning the timeline. Yes. Some people have kids at age 40. She's 20. Yeah, you know,
I'm not saying anything wrong with that. Okay. All right. So think if I had a kid, a little Don
for junior and I'm 46, watch out. Okay. So even at that, I love you, Faith. So what happens then
is he has a history. He's an immigrant from China originally and he actually was special forces
for the US Army and Vietnam. Okay. Okay. So now he's, you know, older, you know, like you say,
father time goes undefeated, undefeated. Well, he owns a little restaurant in London,
the little Chinese restaurant. So, you know, a small business owner, you know, well respected
person community, but he has that kind of past. Right. And so he goes to Pierce Brosnan's character
who plays basically like the, or Liam as a column, who plays the, the man who's like the British
ambassador to Ireland or so. He's a, you know, the guy who deals with the Irish issues for the
British government. Right. Well, Brosnan has a past where he was with the IRA like 30 years ago.
Okay. So he has that IRA background back then. And of course, they won't keep the piece. It's
been 20 years since the, you know, the IRA issue as well. It's the new IRA who claims responsibility.
So Jackie goes off to, you know, William and says, Hey, I just want some names. You know, my
daughter was killed. You know something. Of course, Pierce Brosnan being a political person.
No, I know nothing about it. You know, when we're doing everything and we're doing everything,
try to catch these people and all that. Yeah, yeah, I get the run around. So he decides to really go
over edge and make, you know, Liam's or Poo Brosnan's life real interesting to get the names.
Okay. I don't know if you want to go any deeper. That's all I want to go. And that's the rest of
the movie is him trying to get justice for his family. But that's because he's Jackie Chan,
because he's Jackie Chan. But I'll say he makes Brosnan's life real interesting. This runs about
an hour 55 by the looks of things about two hours. Yeah, rated R. Be aware of that.
What did you think? Don, did you enjoy this film? Yes and no. Okay. Now, if you go to my

I was letting Rob do it. You guys got to do it together. We don't have to. Well, okay. I'll
like have you in on it too. It's kind of fun. This is unpredictable. Yes, we are. It's
to predict how we're going to do this. Okay. But I put on there that what I liked was this was
a really realistic film. Yes, it's an action film. Yes, it's a cloak and dagger. But there are
some scenes with him doing the martial arts. But he plays a martial artist who's 60 years old.
He's not the, he doesn't play a martial artist or act like a martial artist who
kid has a body of a 20 year old who can do martial arts of a 20 year old. He does a martial arts
of a 60 year old. So not a lot of wire work involved here. No, nothing like that. Fair enough.
And which I really enjoyed because it was very realistic on that aspect. Because
yes, you could tell he's walking slow. Yes, it shows him age. They didn't put any makeup on him.
As I could tell, which I really enjoyed. He really played the physical part of a man who's
60 who did his time and Vietnam. All right. Okay. So that was really good there.
Does this film have action? Yes. Are there some brutal scenes? Yes. But they don't overdo it on
that aspect. It's the right amount. Fair enough. It's the right amount of realistic action. Okay.
Now, scenery. Beautiful. There are some scenes in Ireland where he goes to
belt fast to try to find the people and get the information from Liam's character, of course.
I've been to Ireland once. Loved it. It really showed Ireland in the right aspect.
Okay. It shows London in that right aspect. Like I said, it doesn't come. When there's one
scene at the beginning, it just says London. It doesn't do that. Here's the big band.
Here's the queen. Here's our puppy dog. Hey kids, look. Big man. Parliament. Yeah, exactly.
So I really liked. There was a little bit CGI. Not too much, but it was the right amount. Okay.
So there are a couple scenes with some beautiful nature shots. Okay. Beautiful. That was cool.
That was nice. Martin Campbell knows action. Yes, he does. He does it right, but here's my issue.
All right. The film is about two hours. It seemed it was two hours. Did you get felt it? Yeah,
you felt it by the end saying yes. Did you have a watch gauge on it? I don't. I never
were. Oh, I forget you don't wear a watch. Yeah, I can't turn the phone on. It's like a
guy and we prefer you to. Yeah, it's exactly. So we don't have bail money. Yeah. But here's the other
issue. By the halfway marked about three quarter mark. Okay. It got a little complicated on
the spy versus spy versus spy angle. Okay. Who's on whose side? Who was the who's with who?
At one point, I got a little complicated where you really kind of have to follow
the thing and really keep track of the past characters and these past alliances and what happened.
So this is not something you just have on the background. You need to pay attention to the
subject watching. Yeah. Okay. On that point, it got I thought a little too complicated at the end.
You figure it out and it all comes to fruition at the end. But that did get a little too
complicated on that aspect. Okay. Those are my two major gripes that seem to belong. But on the
other aspect, I loved the realism of the action of everything else you could say. The acting by
Jackie Chan. I loved it because he's not Mr. flying through the air like on rush hour and stuff
like that in the bubble, bubble, bubble. No, this was realistic martial arts. All right.
Fair enough. Greg, it's the final analysis? Sure. We're going to do the final analysis on this show.
We're not going to give you thumbs up, thumbs down. We're not going to give you letter grades numbers.
We're not going to give you even Jackie Chan's. I'm going to ask two questions. Question number
one is, would Don see this film again? If the answer is no, we're done here. But if the answer is yes,
then I'm going to ask him how far he's willing to go because that's going to gauge how much he
enjoyed this film. Here's your spectrum from the best of the best of the worst of the best.
Full price, matinee, actually twilight, then matinee, then early morning, then second run of the
dollar theater, then actually leaving your house to get you from red box, then would be streaming on
Netflix, and then it would be waiting for it on cable. Don, would you see this film again?
Yep. How far are you willing to go? I would say matinee possible twilight. So you're right there on
the edge. So people should still go see this in a theater. If I had choose one, I'd say matinee,
but still it would, I really, there's a lot of things I like, but it's just the complication
in being a little too long, I thought. But beyond that, the action was very good, realistic action.
You heard it from the man himself. It is Martin Campbell's latest film and it's called The Foreigner.
