So we were able to kind of get it covered a little bit.
Just not as much as we wanted to.

It's comedy, black comedy, political satire, and slapstick.
And it's very confused on what it wants to be.

Sadly, there will be some people that may think it's the true story,
but it is not just the broad story.

I wanted to really love this, but the script was lacking for me.

There were a lot of other wonderful things.
I mean, the costuming was great.
The scenery was great.
The lighting.
I mean, all behind the scenes people that you never see or hear from,
that could win awards.
They need some awards for this.
The script running, that's a lot.
Because I'm still going to wrap my brain around.
The way I kind of look at it is on this one here,
they add some comic moments,
but they tried being a serious movie with comedy,
but it didn't work.
Okay, so let me address the accent thing,
because the MDim tells me,
Armando Inuchi insisted on not having the character speak
with Russian accents for two reasons.
One, he thought it would take audiences out of the film.
That's a good point.
And two, he didn't want the actors to worry about their accent
when improvising.
But he did say that Russian journalists had that had seen it
praised the decision.
But what has he really directed with any skin?
You got to keep it.
Well, this...
Deep, yeah.

That's on him out of skin, dude.
Because that shows his skin.
Well, he's more of a writer.

But he's kind of new into the director.
However, in 2017, a high-ranking official
in the Russian Ministry of Culture announced that the Russian authorities
were considering putting a ban on the film.

two days before it was supposed to be released.

Yes, it has comedy,
and they try to add comedy,
but it doesn't work out too well.
But I think maybe they were trying to say...
Here's some of the crazy stuff that happened during the time,
that may have happened during the transition of the, you know,
the leader passing away.
And it might be comedic when you look back at it,
but at the time, it's like,
what do we do?
Because it's so crazy that maybe it did happen.
Some of the crazy stuff that does happen.
But when you look back, you can laugh at it.
And I think maybe they said,
maybe some weird stuff like this did happen.
I mean, believe it or not,
there's some stuff in my past that I've done,
where it kind of made mistakes.
And I look back and laugh at it.
But I think maybe this film was trying to do that too.
I don't know.
What is crime is it?
I think you're trying to put too much truth into the movie.

Basically, Stalin,
Stalin did the general committee.
Somebody had to take over
and how they got there.
And there's already somebody in line
under the rules of a temporary person
to take control under the regulations.
But still people are trying to not buy for their position and all that.
You know what I'm saying?
That's what the film really is about.
Now, I got to give it.
When it comes to the acting though,
one person I was really impressed with
was Simon Russell Beal.
He plays the head of the...

he could be trying to get his position
and trying to get more power
and possibly take control
if he could work it out right.

When JFK passed away,
Bobby Kennedy was looking into ways
to stop from Johnson
being put into as president,
as vice president.
You know, so he's trying to look into that.
I think maybe that's what his character
of Beal is trying to do.
And he placed his emotions
in how he...
You can see like his head almost explode
in this thing.
But that's how good of an acting job he does.
Rupert Friend got to give it to him.
He plays Stalin's son
who has about as much responsibility

and you see him walking through having this important meeting with somebody
and somebody's being thrown down the stairs
and then you hear a gunshot off in the distance.

It's like they're trying to be light-hearted about this horrible situation
that was actually going on.
Like anything the Zuckerbrothers have every time.
At least we didn't have a cow with Galasha's walk past it's the same.
But I'm just saying, you know, you pull some of that and you pull some three studios
and you pull some Monty Python and...
It didn't work.

They tried.
The spaghetti did not stick on the wall.
