You may know him as fond, don't go, but his mom and even don't, I'm going to call him

And rounding out the house is the, rounding out the day is the lady of the house and the
starfire of this group.

Whenever we do one of these, it is to review something and this is no exception.
Kids, it's time to talk, team titans go to the movies!
For once on something?

so you can make the best possible decisions for your entertainment dollar.
So Chad got to see this film, indeed.
We had to kind of divide and conquer.
We had a lot going on that night.
As you're probably seeing in this week's episodes, we have a lot going on.
You think?
But we do it for the Empire.
Divide and conquer.
That's right.
Which we did this week.
Yeah, we got a bunch of movies in.
I had a wedding anniversary.
This may be a record for a number of special editions in one week.
Just saying.
So for those of you that, let's just give you a brief history of team titans and animation.
So team titans, as you can read in Chad's written review, currently located at www.theclubhousepodcast.com.

Came on the heels of the decline, if you will, of the Justice League cartoon, because they
went to Justice League and then they did Justice League Unlimited.
And as that was fading, this was starting to ramp up.
I'm a huge fan of all things geek.
And I had been watching Justice League from the jump.
By the way, Batman and the Mayor of Syria's Blu-ray is coming in September.
Oh, thank God.

I'll be putting up a GoFundMe for it, like this one.
I'll be sure in here.
And I love Justice League.
Bruce Tim, Paul Dean, these guys can do no wrong in my book, off of the Batman and the
Animated Series, which I just mentioned.
So when team titans came around, it was very different because it took the tone of more
of a manga style, or an anime style, if you will, versus the way Justice League was
done.
And that was a little bit of an adjustment for me.
But I hung in there and I stuck with it and I ended up enjoying team titans.
Right.
And then it went away and then it came back as something called team titans Go.
Already worried because it's a very, that's a very anime manga type style, more of a
chibi anime style.
Right.
Yeah.
And it just got too cheesy for me.
I couldn't get into it.
But it got too lighthearted, way too lighthearted.
So then this movie comes along and I'm like, I mean, the original cast was all back doing
what they do.
They asked me out to Zinthos.
So Mitreon Zinthos, did I get that right?
What?
That's what Raven says when she does her spell.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, okay, okay, her incantation.
Correct.
But then I saw the trailer and I saw some of the marketing for this and I was like, okay,
we know we're poking fun at things.
And my favorite line in the trailer, because basically what happens here is Robin realizes
for them to be legitimate to their older counterparts, they got to have a movie, right?
And to have a movie, you got to have a villain.
So the fourth wall pretty much done.
Yeah.
It's gone.
It's non-existent.
So they decide they're going to have Slade who plays a role in the original Teen Titans
huge role voiced by the great Will Arnet.
He's like, oh, Batman.
That's all you need to know.
But in the trailer, and the last trailer they did, they keep calling him Deadpool.
Yeah.
I'm not Deadpool.
I was around first.
And like at the end of the trailer, when cyborg puts his arm, I said, say something
inappropriate.
Like, I'm like, okay, I know what we're doing now.
I know where we're at now.
So we know this thing is going to be tongue firmly implanted in cheek, right?
It's your average animation length at an hour, 33.
Go.
And this is PG, by the way.
Yes.
Right.
The runtime may be the single largest detriment to this film.
Really?
Yes.
It really bogs itself down in the middle act.
It kind of grinds to a halt.
So I'm looking at the cast loaster.
Oh, yeah.
You want to get into that?
Let's go.
So the bad guy is Slade Wilson, voiced by Will Arnet.
I'm assuming Kristen Bell is his wife, sister, that Jade Wilson, this is what we're
doing.
Kind of.
Kind of.
Yeah.
Um, Calel Cage, Nicholas Cage's son, and yes, he named him after Superman.
It's legit.
Nicholas Cage voicing Superman in this.
So we finally get Nicholas Cage playing Superman, fulfilling a long time.
His son playing the young Bruce Wayne, which is interesting irony there.
You got, you know, the full cast back from before, Halsey plays Wonder Woman, uh, Jimmy
Kimmel.
That's that man this co-round, which is kind of weird for me.
And you notice, I don't know if you realize this, that that scene that you see in the trailer
with.
I'm Batman.
Batman returns.
Yes.
Not in the film.
Oh, come on.
It is.
But he doesn't say anything.
Oh.
And I was swear that that was Arnet's voice in that trailer in that scene.
Tara Strong is raven.
How are you doing?
Will Wheaton is in this decade might I know where, um, that's what he's saying.
No, no, no, no, I'm just saying the fact that he was in it is what came from out of
nowhere.
Little Yachty.
I don't know who that is.
I'm a screen laner.
Yeah.
Uh, Patton Oswald plays Adam.
He's got some good.
Well, Patton Oswald is, I see just decided I need to rival Nathan Philly and there's
so much geek properties.
Possibly.
Possibly.
Possibly.
But you're saying it's a, does it collapse under its own weight?
I don't think it's that.
It's just that you're, you're, you're constantly barrage by very loud, very brightly colored,
you know, it just becomes noise.
But isn't that kind of the bit with this though?
Yeah, but you're used to getting this in, you know, 23 minute johns.
Exactly.
And now you're getting it in triple that, yes, quadruple that almost like it would have
been nice if you could have gotten this as three episodes of a series of the series rather
than one overly long feature film that nothing about this screams, this needs to be a feature
film.
But now if I read your review correctly, and I know I did because I edited it at www.theclodhousepodcast.com.

Did I read correctly that the weight of it mostly comes in the second act?
Yes.
Yeah, right in the middle.
So even if they broke this up into three parts, that second part would still be the worst
part.
Yeah, it'd be the worst chapter.
Uh, and it, it starts to pick up close to the end, but just the middle just drags
into it.
Like I, the, the theater that I was in was fully populated with young kids as it should
be.
And they were getting restless.
And I'm really, I'm really fascinated by this because when I look at the Rotten Tomatoes
rating, 88% right now, I mean, it, it does what it needs to do, whereas, you know, it's
like just kind of poking fun at the whole, all the DC universe is so dark.
And this is the antidote for the absolute synthesis.
Yeah.
Believe me.
They, they know what they're doing.
They, they shine a, literally shine a spotlight on it.
Um, but how's my favorite character?
You know, I'm a big Beast Boy fan.
And I wasn't as big of a Beast Boy fan until Teen Titans, because I like the way they
write him.
He, he gets a little obnoxious, he comes kind of like the little brother that won't
shut up.
But that's what he's always been.
Yeah.
But it's, it's, I always love, I loved his interactions with cyborg.
Yeah.
Their relationship has always been one of my favorite things.
And what threw me and I didn't realize this until I was, you know, doing the research
on the written and, um, it freaked me out when I realized who's been doing cyborg's voice
this all time.
Given that I'm a huge walking dead fan, a, a curry paton.
Yes.
Okay.
I don't watch the walking.
For those of you that are in the know and are walking dead fans, that's King Ezekiel.
Okay.
And that, that shocked the heck out of me.
I had no idea that's who that was.
And it does look like we have a cameo, which is a little strange.
Yeah.
I don't want to give it away.
No.
But seeing someone's name in the cast list, I went.
Uh-huh.
And it ate, and it ate just once.
Really?
It ate just once.
And it's here.
I'm going to mute the mics for a minute.
And it ate subtle.
That makes sense.
Alright.
Mute, my, my, my, my sir, I'm muted.
That was, was that just the number you went?
Okay.
If that's what we're going to do.
It's like, it, it's subtle at first, and I'm, I'm like, I'm elbowing just going, uh,
dude, dude.
There it is.
But just the, the, the, the, I don't know, the self-deprecating, self-referential stuff
is just, it's, it's pretty priceless.
There's a lot of really good moments in this.
But it just, it's, it's kind of inconsistent.
So did it, but did it take you out of it?
A little bit, a little bit.
I'm, I'm not saying as far as just the jokes and stuff, but just the pacing, the pacing
does kind of, it's like, you do start looking at the watch quite often.
You're just like, okay, let's, let's cut to the chase.
Really?
Yeah.
Does it reflect the current incarnation of the show?
I haven't really had all that much interest in the current incarnation of it because of the
style of it.
I mean, even my kid who adored Teen Titans when it was, she did indeed.
She did indeed.
I had no interest in Teen Titans go at all.
No, not at all.
But she's a different point in her life than she was back then though.
But there is, there is a glimmer of hope.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm not going to say what it is, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I mean, my light at the end of the tunnel was the announcement at San Diego that young
justice is getting another season.
But it's going to be on the DC universe app, but I'm not paying for it.
Well, I mean, like, yeah, there, there, there are, there are things, there's something
as the credits begin and there's something as the credits come to the very, very good.
Oh, so they're doing that bit too?
Yeah.
Well, the thing at the very end is just a text.
It's something that they show.
It's not a scene, but one thing I really do need to mention when Robin really starts
to get down on himself and he needs a little pick me up because there are several musical
numbers in this thing.
Oh, geez.
Who does the musical number to help bring him out of his funk?
We'll probably destroy half the audience that's of our age and we'll absolutely destroy
it.
I'm like, I had to lean.
I'm like, is that who I think it is?
Is it good counter programming to this proposed Titan series that DC?
Yes.
Good.
Absolutely it is.
Because I'm not on board with that.
No, and I think we're in the majority there.
Okay.
So, I mean, yeah, it's, it is enjoyable, but I just think they could have trimmed the fat
down a little bit in the middle of it.
But, you know, for the most part, it's, it's a good time.
It's cute.
You guys have been kind of quiet over there and everything.
I'm just listening.
I don't know what, nothing about Titan.
So, I can feel it.
Okay.
It's not something I really, I mean, I'm familiar with it.
I never got into it, but I'm, I'm glad Chad and Joel's got date night.
Yeah.
There's that.
And I know, for a fact, you probably enjoyed how was the animation though?
Yeah.
It looks just like the television show.
Yeah.
And it's, it's not, it, I don't know if it really lends itself like the big screen.
It is bubbly.
Yeah.
Bubbly.

Very power puff girlish.
Yeah.
And I, I would almost throw a little bit of Rocky and Bullwink going into.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I can see that.

People price it a theater down to a twilight show down to a matinee down to early morning
on a weekend down the second run of the dollar theater down to actually leaving his house
to get it from Red Box down the streaming on Netflix down to cable.
Chad, would you see Teen Titans go to the movies again?
Yes.
