Whatever we do one of these it is to review something and this is no exception.
It's time to talk about Roger Gosnell's show dogs.
We got to listen to our best friends and live in a great marketing.

You ended up going solo on this one.
I was double booked and couldn't make it so I'm interested to hear your opinions.
Here's what you need to know.
Max who is a macho solitary rot wilder police dog is ordered to go undercover as a primped
show dog and a prestigious dog show along with his human partner to averted disaster from
happening.
So the human played by Will are net.
Yep.
The lead up be eye guy.
Maybe voice Natasha Leone also in this.
So here are some names you need to know Alan coming uses his voice in this Stanley
Tucci uses his voice in this Shaq Gabriel a Gracious ludicrous RuPaul I believe is in this
if I'm not mistaken sir as well.
Let's get right into it.
This is live action.
This is not animated.
No.
It is a kids film but it is not animated.
This thing runs probably right at one right at an hour and a half.
Somewhere around hour 32.
Yeah.
As your runtime.
Well you look at the director.
It's the same director.
He's done a lot of those cartoons they put in a real life like Scooby Doo.
Okay.
You know.
He smurfs.
Okay.
Yeah.
They're not they originally cartoons but then they put.
Right.
They do them.
They do them live action.
Okay.
Fair enough.
So this guy.
This director has a record of doing that.
All right.
The basic plot is there's a panda that goes missing and he knew when the panda goes missing.
Yeah.
It's the NYPD police dog is on the sting and the panda gets away and that there's shenanigans
that happens because the FBI's also on it and we'll aren't it and they kind of double
do a boo boo because they don't know who each other is and the panda gets away.
So now they say okay we got a tip it's going to be in Vegas at the big dog show.
So they end up saying okay Max you're going to be the show dog and will you're going to
be the trainer and we're going to interview this thing kind of like a missed congeniality
in a way.
In a weird way but yeah I see where you're going with that.
It's a bit of a stretch.
But I could follow you.
The number of the I agent in the big event.
All right.
Yeah.
So it kind of has that.
Let me get this.
I know I'm not the target target then the graphic on the same.
Okay.
This is a good film.
I understand that and I know it's about a dog and a police dog and all that stuff.
But this film won some of the voicing got real annoying.
It got two tone high and some of that.
So it's like some of the tones of the voices I don't think the dog too well because they
want to put some star in there and now I'm thinking fit the style of the dog and some
of the voicing did get a little annoying to me throughout the film.
Okay.
Not too bad but it's one of the things I had.
Now of course our net.
Great actor.
We all know who he is.
He does good in the role.
I see no Oscar nominations or awards next year for this acting when it comes to the acting
on this or the vocals or anything or being like the best animated be even what's not animated.
Okay.
So the acting was fine.
Let's just get that out of the way.
But nothing starts blazing that blew my breath away in this whole thing.
The suspension for disbelief I understand it's the dog and all that.
But this kind of goes way overboard.
Does it?
Yeah.

And you said that like even the effects were not.
Oh, the C.J. was horrible in this.
I understand they want to do the dogs mouth move with the syllables and stuff but even
a lot of the scenes where they're flying through the air or they're doing some tricks and
stuff that you know C.G.I.
You could really tell it was C.G.I.
It's kind of like those old commercials or old movies from the 70s and 80s.
You could tell they kind of kind of two layer kind of thing.
The C.G.I.
was not high quality.
And that's is that fair to say because we got the world of these huge studios coming out
with these multi hundred million dollar budget films where they could spend 80 million dollars
on C.G.I alone.
Is that fair to that?
No.
But it's just when you look at some of the C.G.I.
The Malvin was horrible.
You could tell it's just it was bad.
It's kind of like that typewriter kind of thing.
It was just the C.G.I.
was not that great on this thing.
No, dear.
But the suspension for disbelief I give this best example.
They're at the national dog show.
Okay.
And they do this over von Boins beyond belief like the very vagus hello everyone.
Welcome to the dogs.
They come out here comes a group of dogs out to be judged.
And they have it like it's the runway at the biggest parish fashion show of the year
where they have paparazzi on both sides flashing they got the DJ they got the big lights and
all that.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
That's let's get real life.
I mean at dog shows they're at arena.
They don't have a DJ player blaring music and they don't have a bunch of flash photographers
right next to the dogs because what will that do?
That will scare the dogs.
Okay.
That's why they don't allow because they don't want the dogs to be scared in right back
situation for dogs.
So in this film there was so many things around Vegas like it reminded me of some of those
old commercials of what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
I thought this was a way like an extended commercial for Vegas because they do every kind
of tourist trap or go do this.
Hey, five above the over the strip.
A lot of a lot of name dropping of businesses in Vegas.
Yeah.
I mean there is a ton of like the thing in Vegas where you get on the harness and you go
over the strip or whatever on the on the on the on those wires and stuff like that.
And the dogs doing that.
It's like is this from the chamber of commerce?
Did they like input to this film to have all the stuff put in there?
But the suspension disbelief was really kind of bad on this one bad.
Was it it was it just too much for you?
It was too much.
It was too much.
I did not find this enjoyable.
I understand it's about a dog that could talk and I understand you know what the basic
plot is.
But the two over suspension that disbelief the too much this is a commercial for Vegas.
The too much of where they try to be so fun point where they walk into everything.
It has a high dollar scenery.
It has like the most expensive food here or the biggest outrun party.
It's like whenever you watch this fast and furious whenever they show like a car thing
it's like every fun boy in car.
Oh, I was always over.
Yeah.
But let me ask you this though because we talk a lot about the show that sometimes we
see films that were not the target demographic for.
Do you feel that this would be well suited for kids?
In a way.
Yeah.
Because it's you could say that.
Yeah.
I will get again.
I'm not to target them.
I'm not first to say that.
I mean in some ways I think it does stand to send a bad message to the treatment of animals.
You know, I mean are you going to have the big music wearing right next to dogs ear?
Are you going to be in flash photography and stuff like that?
But is it done tongue in cheek though?
Hmm.
I think maybe unintentionally or maybe sublimely intentionally done all this stuff.
That's fair.
And I think it's it's just like you do not do that with dogs because I grew up with dogs.
I had a dog since I was a little tight since I remember all the way till I got to college.
So dogs were a big important part of my life and it's just like you did not do that with
the dog.
You did not do that with the dogs.
Did it take you out of it?
Yeah.
In some ways.
Yeah.
But the overfly boy.
So let's just get realistic.
If this is going to be a dog show, show it like a dog show, understand it's a dog that
could talk and all that stuff and it's about you know kids filming all that.
But I think it just they just over did it on this film.
Okay.
Anything you liked about it?
It's still a fun thing for the kids.
Okay.
You know a lot of films coming out now they hear towards the kids but they also keep the
adults in mind.
This one I don't really think they're kept the adults in mind on this one.
Oh really?
Yeah and a lot of the kids were getting all fidgety during the film which is not a good
sign either.
Do you see this being one of those films that you're on a road trip with the kids and
you put it on the DVD player for them to watch in the back?
Yeah.
Just put their bugs on and just go.
So again it is what it is.
Anything else before we get to filing out?
No.
All right.
The way we do the file analysis on the show not going to give you thumbs up, thumbs down,
letter grades, numbers, dog treats, anything like that.
I'm going to ask Don at the two questions.
Question number one is would he see this again?
The answer is no then we're done here.
But if the answer is yes then I'm going to ask him how far he's willing to go to see
it again.
From the best of the best of the worst of the best here's the order.
Full price at a theater, down to a twilight show, down to a matinee, down to early morning
on a weekend, down to second one at the dollar theater, down to actually leaving your
house and getting it from red box, down to streaming it on Netflix and down to waiting for
it on cable.
Don, would you see show dogs again?
I can make this simple, no, not even on HBO.
All right.
So then we're done here.

You got to take your best friends and line in the greater market eating this up.
