The following is a sooner orgator production.
Good morning!
Good morning!
Greetings to Empire, member and or members!
If you are hearing my voice, it means the following conditions have been met.
It means at least once in your life you have listened to the clubhouse podcast, your one-stop shop for all-pink sports and entertainment.
Live every Sunday, night at 7 Eastern for Pacific.
But it also means use of scribe on iTunes, because it's time for another.
I'll change these things!
The one hundred and ninety-third one of these things.
Welcome!
My name is Rob, I'm the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast, and I have never been the England.
I've worked around it, I've never been actually there.
But I'm not alone in this particular endeavor.
Enjoying me across the desk as he tends to do is my co-host, and a man that I would venture to say has a better knowledge of the UK than I do.
He is Chad, welcome sir.
Been there and married into the country so to speak.
Also joining us is the official fact checker of this show.
And a man who kind of speaks English.
You may know him is fun, don't go, but it's a moment even down for him.
I'm going to call him down for the welcome sir.
Hello!
What is his accent sound like poppy on Levitar's show?
I've been to that London place one time, and also Ireland.
Thank you for watching.
Yeah.
We are here today to review the brand new film from director.
First time real feature director.
Bay back in the joffy.
I really hope I got that close to right.
It is the sequel to Olympus's Fallen.
It is called Oddly Enough.
London his Fallen.
He's actually done a couple of features, but nothing major.
He did a couple episodes of the showtime show,
Banshee did one episode of the Banshee Origins.
He did easy money hard to kill and a movie called Sebe.
It Banshee.
I love it.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
It is Sebe.
I watched every episode.
Love it.
We join our characters.
Of course, Gerard Butler is back as Mike Bany.
Still working as a Secret Service agent, protecting the president himself,
played by Aaron Eckhart, president Benjamin Asher,
and they find out one day that the prime minister of England has passed away.
And so, 19 of the world's leaders descend upon London to attend the funeral.
And as they are heading into the funeral, all hell breaks loose.
From a terrorist family that America took actions on two years prior.
I think that is about all you need to know.
But of course, you know, your cast of characters are here.
You have got the great Morgan Freeman.
Hello, Sonny.
Actually, did a ways of voiceover.
I read about this.
That is pretty genius.
Sonny, you should turn left right here.
Or it will be the longest drive of your life.
My Morgan Freeman is possible.
Let's just have to do one thing to break up this.
Sure.
What's up?
We have to fake Julie and everybody at Marock.
So good.
Some of our favorite people.
Thank you so much for the invite, guys.
Thank you.
Now, I'm going to preface this by saying,
I have not seen Olympus as following you.
You actually screamed it when it came out.
I know.
Did you know?
No.
Well, I did, but we didn't have press at the time.
Did you do a screening of it for the first time?
Chad, you've seen it.
I have not.
I went into this thing cold.
But in a movie like this, I didn't think not seeing the first film
was going to handicap me in any way, shape or form.
There are certain things that you'll get a little better
understanding of certain relationships in the sequel.
But it's not really a hindrance.
You know, it's kind of like if you just decided you're going to watch
die hard with the vengeance as your,
why would you be at the first one?
But still, you know, it's not like you're going to be lost in the story.
No.
It's like I said, when we attended our screening, I put on Facebook.
My post was simply stuff's going to explode.
It's like that's what you need to know.
What was that thing's going to get blown up?
Yeah.
You see, I don't know how to talk English.
I do like the tagline for the film, though.
Prepare for bloody hell.
Yeah.
Very funny.
I really like the relationship between,
between Mike and the president, which you Mike and Ash are.
It's, they had a really good chemistry on screen together.
You know, Gerard Butler, who is not American,
but it does a heck of an American accent in this thing.
This movie for me, harkens me back to my childhood.
Because if the 80s were known for a lot of things,
one of the things the 80s was known for was the shoot him up,
blow him up action movie.
People like Stallone.
People like Schwarzenegger.
People like Steven Seagall.
Who I contend if you film this movie in the 80s,
Steven Seagall would be in it.
Bruce Willis.
He strikes me as one of a 90s guy.
Early 90s guy.
Seems like that's when he came into prominence.
Because I kept having, personally,
I kept having flashbacks of under siege.
And that came out when I was in the Navy.
Oh, yeah.
I remember that.
When you're constantly switching back and forth from the guy in the field,
to the situation room, talking him through it.
And I'm like, this is just like under siege.
But it's, I mean, it's a typical action film for the leave your brain at the door.
It runs about an hour, 45.
About an hour, 40 hour, 45 somewhere in there.
It's a fun movie.
Under siege, what's the 92?
There you go.
That's what he said.
That's what he said.
That's what he said.
This movie is just a fun movie.
Yeah.
You know, don't go in expecting traffic.
Because that dog ain't gonna hunt.
But I just had so much fun watching this movie.
That it's, it's a kind of fun in an action movie.
I haven't had in a very long time.
Like there's a certain level of whackity,
smackety do that comes with the expendable
because of what it is through.
You know, and there's even lines in here that you're kind of like,
yeah, yeah, yeah.
But that comes with the territory.
And, and understand this,
member of the, or members of the Empire listening to this,
there is a huge suspension of disbelief here.
Because if the Prime Minister died,
19 of the most powerful nations in the world,
their leaders being all in one place at one time,
not gonna happen.
Yeah.
You're saying.
I think we can all safely say that.
But if you just give that suspension of disbelief and you go in,
and you just watch this movie and have fun with it,
you're gonna be fine.
Now gentlemen, let me say this.
If you bring your lady, you're probably gonna owe her a movie.
Yeah.
You may be seeing the choice the next day.
I'm just letting you know.
Because this is a guy's movie.
This is a dude's movie.
This is the kind of movie that,
you're gonna watch with a group of dudes.
Just hanging out.
Just couple of rows.
You know, whatever.
But I will say this.
The difference between a good action movie and a bad action movie
is how you discuss it.
Because we've seen plenty of bad action movies in our time.
Yeah.
You do in the mystery science theater,
3000 treatment too,
because it's the only way you can suffer through it.
You could do that here,
but you don't have to.
Right?
It's just this movie is so much fun.
Don't.
On my thing.
Ah.
Well, if you go to my written view at the clubhouse.com.
That is our website.
I put in there.
One thing I really liked about this film was the buildup.
Right before the attack.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, it was so beautifully shot.
But just that buildup in a tenseness
and it keeps building and building.
Because even I was going, no.
Just I was going.
How is this gonna go?
Yeah.
You just knew someone's gonna happen,
but it had that music that feel where it really got.
It got intense to me.
You know,
agree?
On the acting.
Great chemistry between the characters.
But you know what?
You're not gonna get acting like spotlight in this kind of film.
You know?
Yeah.
So I don't think any of these characters.
Yeah.
But for the acting in this film,
for what the film kind of is,
it was fine.
I like the CGI.
Because a lot when a lot of the bombs go off
and that scene with Parliament when that big bomb goes off.
They loved it.
Loved it.
See, that's where you and I are going to differ.
Why is that?
Because I felt visually,
it wasn't as strong as it could have been from a CGI standpoint.
They didn't overdo it.
That's what I liked about it.
They didn't,
but there's more they could have done.
Some of the effects got a little wonky.
There's a couple of shots right there close to the end,
especially when they were depending on the darkness
to kind of cover up the lack of budget possibly.
I kind of gridded my teeth a little bit.
I was like,
yeah, that could have been shot or
are comped a little bit better.
Because some of the practical effects
were better than some of the studios.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I agree with that.
Yeah.
And like the scene leading up to the incursions,
so to speak.
I'm like,
if they want to college or listen to you.
Yeah.
Encursions.
We're the Montana.
Come on.
What does that mean?
The...
Try not to give too much away here.
But for everything goes down.
Yeah.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
I'm talking about the breach leading up to him, you know.
Towards the end.
Towards the end.
To the big climax.
I'm like,
if they are looking to make
Call of Duty Modern Warfare into a film,
they need to hire this guy.
That's...
They need to hire this video.
Any of those video game war franchises.
I mean,
because the fire fights looked amazing.
Whether it was at night or in the middle of the day,
the action sequences here
were shot incredibly well
incredibly choreographed.
And...
I mean, there were points...
Well, you just felt like you were in the car.
Yeah.
I lead over to Kevin at one point,
but friend of the show Kevin from the movie brothers
and he's like,
do you feel like you need to like,
take off your Xbox Live headset for a second?
If it,
yeah, I kind of do.
Especially that firefight specifically.
Yeah.
It really did.
I was like,
again,
that's why we're stressing.
It really is a guy's movie.
I mean,
unless you're significant other
than such a fan of Judd Butler,
that she's like,
yeah, I'll go see him.
I don't care what he makes.
I just want to see him.
I'm like,
this is a matter of God.
I'm like,
this ain't PSI love you.
Okay.
So prepare yourself.
Yeah.
I mean, the plot is to be bang,
you know,
bang, bang,
shoot him up.
You're not going to get a plot of
shit.
There's less than this thing.
You know,
so I mean,
this is not a romance.
This is not an emotional tour to force.
Yeah.
And what I really love about this film
is that it knows what it is.
Like,
it's not.
It doesn't try to give you a deeper meaning.
It doesn't try to give you a massage.
It's just,
you know what?
Let's go blow stuff up and shoot people.
Well, let's do this.
And we're doing it this way.
There may be a message to this.
Don't get all your world leaders in one building.
I mean,
they do that a lot.
Well,
not a good idea.
It's unabashedly.
But like you said earlier,
it's like put your,
you know,
realist at the door.
You know,
it kind of looks like it's like the G8 and stuff like that.
This is a charity.
You know what's up?
Like this is not going to happen.
And boy, this thing,
this film will wave a flag on you.
Yeah.
Well, it wave a flag.
Which I thought was strange,
given the guy waving the flag is,
not scottled.
He's not from a market.
And I mean,
and he stole two lines,
right out of Arnold Schwarzenegger's playbook.
He not only said get to the chopper.
He also said,
I'll be back.
I'm like,
really,
But come up with your own, but that but to me that was kind of the brilliance of it. It's like you're the
Tom and it's an homage. I think you wouldn't know firmly and planted in the cheese. I just thought it was so funny. I'm like really bad
Okay, you're not even gonna hide it. I mean, and really my only criticism of the film was some of the effects were a little weak for me
Yeah, but not to the point where I was just kind of like
Like I really really enjoyed this film for what it was
If you're a fan of action films, you're welcome internet. Yeah, if you're a fan of action movies
This is a great action movie. You're going to enjoy yourself. You know, if you have this is your cup of tea
Then bring it bring it extra cup because you're gonna want to read. Yeah, he'll be bringing it to door have fun
It's so much fun
So anything else we want to add before we get to the final analysis
No, I think we've got a pretty well covered. All right, do I be doing the final analysis on this show?
We don't give you thumbs up thumbs down
We don't give you a star's letter grades one to ten our audience whom we affectionately refer to as the empire
They want us to go deeper. They need us to go to do it to a deeper analysis
So we do that you want me on that one. That's right. You need me on that who's gonna guard it?
I'm gonna ask these boys two questions
Question number one. Would you see this film again at the answers? No, then we're done here. You have the answers. Yes
I want to know how far they're willing to go. You're gonna pay full price at the theater
You're gonna wait for it. Maybe in a twilight maybe Matt and A maybe early morning on a weekend
Maybe you're gonna wait for second run in the dollar theater
Maybe you wait for it on red box. Maybe you stream it on Netflix. Maybe you watch it on TV
I'm not here to judge you outwardly chat
Would you see this film again? I'd see it again. How far are you willing to go?
At the most I'd mad me it
Okay, but that's still that's still first run. Yeah, so
Don would you see this film again? Yeah, yes, and the same as Chad Matt and A I
Would see this film again
But I'm not really sure that I'm leaning any particular direction
That's the weird thing. I'm not if you want to force an answer out of me
I'd give you a good view Matt and I know I'm gonna watch it again. I would go twilight
Go eat dinner afterwards and talk about it and have a good time. Yeah. I'm just go with your buddies
Go yeah, go I mean go with your buddies and watch this movie go go to go to twin pigs or hooters and then go see this now
It's it's it's not gonna give you kills on the level of Deadpool
Let's just put it out there. Well, there's some pretty cool kills in this
There's a hot body count when you look at the body strewn on the side of the quality of kills
Yeah, I mean and there's some cool stuff in the way these some of the way they do things in this film is kind of cool
And there's some great. There's other great actors in this film too that you're like oh, it's that guy. Oh, it's that girl like it's
It's really really well done. He's he can be really vicious with it though. He will stare you in the eyes
As he's she's shoving a knife between your ribs and like you like that you like that
But it's so straight 80s
You know, and that's what I love about it. This is what is this come fury with a bigger budget
Oh, come fury. I do love me some come fury
Yeah, but we end this thing we can have to think truly there by a moroc for Venice to this
Heck yeah, I just thank you so much guys. They're so great to us
We love them so much and they really do take care of us
It is
London has fallen directed by but back not Jaffee. I really hope I got fingers crossed. Of course nothing. Let's do the plugs
