You know, we are going to uncharted territory in the Empire.
Thank you.
This is a first.
They got to learn that we like to mix things up everyone in a while.
This is a first.
We have never done this kind of end.
iTunes exclusive before.
You're mainly because we've never really had this opportunity before.
But normally when we do...
And iTunes exclusive.
It's where we review a film.
Sometimes it's me.
Sometimes it's you and I.
Sometimes chads here.
Sometimes, you know, I've done one by myself.
But today we're actually going to review a television show.
Now you're probably saying you're self-robbing.
A television show?
Wouldn't that be kind of like too late to do?
The answer to that is no.
Because Don went and saw, was it just the first episode?
The pilot, the first episode.
The pilot episode.
The pilot episode of a show that has not yet aired when we record this.
Ah, two is exclusive.
Today is Friday, March the 14th.
This will air Sunday, March the 16th.
So the Empire, you get it here this before the show even airs.
That's right.
So you'll get to know, do I want to spend an hour watching this show?
Do I want a DVR?
Let's talk about what it is.
The show is called Crisis.
It's what we call a midseason replacement.
And networks do this.
Just to kind of put their toe in the water.
If they're not willing to commit to a full season of a show,
they'll put it in the second half of the normal television season,
which runs from the September to May.
And just to see if it'll work out,
a lot of shows have hit being midseason replacements.
But it's that way.
And that we're going to have to take as big of a gamble as they normally would.
Now, in this day and age, every show is a gamble.
Oh, total.
I mean, Jason Alexander said it interview once.
If if we if NBC had tried to air sign felt today,
we wouldn't have made it through the first season.
Because it was season three before we got elected.
And we're that one originally.
The Jerry Sanfall that framed the letters saying,
we don't like to show it.
But I want to work there.
You know, but.
So the NBC synopsis of the show that it centers on an
idealistic secret service agent,
who finds himself at the center of an international crisis
hence the name on his first day on the job.
In his search for the truth,
he will have to cross moral and legal lines as he navigates
to highest levels of power and corruption.
So, Don, you actually saw this in a movie theater last night.
Yeah, and I don't want to first off think of,
think Ashley, Josh, everybody at Ally for doing this.
And they give us free popcorn in, in sodas with us too.
I didn't see that in the invitation.
I was going to vote because I wanted to be there,
but I was feeling a little under the weather.
I didn't want it to get worse.
So, I knew the review was incapable of hanging.
And I would still take out like Furned by Nesson for this thing
and let us in there.
You know, but.
I'll, the show.
It's.
I put in a criteria.
Is this something first off?
I want to even.
But I even watched in the first place.
Well, why don't you talk about the show itself?
Like talk because, of course,
every episode is going to be part of a bigger picture.
Oh, yes, yes.
So tell me about the plot of the, of the pilot.
And this is, try to be and mostly will be spoiler free.
Because basically it centers around where
the president's son is at a lead school with the,
you're talking probably $50,000 to your tuition high school.
I got that out of the game.
And they, him and some of the classmates go on a field trip.
And in the end, and in that shell,
all the children are taking hostage.
Okay.
Do we know by who or is that something to be revealed
in a later episode?
It goes through the show.
And if I'd said right now, I don't want to, you know,
but I want to be spoiler free.
Okay, so there's, so those who kidnapped the children
as the major plot points.
It keeps going.
Okay.
Fair enough.
Fair enough.
It builds off.
But that's a basic premise of where one secret service agent.
He goes above and beyond.
And now, is, what is his name?
Hold on.
Hold on.
Let me.
Is it Kyle DeVore?
The African American gentleman.
Okay.
You started to find him in the listing.
Yeah.

Hold on.
I'm, I'm looking at the casting right now.
We have Joe, Joe is clearing back.
Let me look.
We'll go ahead.
I'll keep looking.
Sorry about that.
But first off, let's get into the cast.
You have an incredible cast on this thing.
A lot of unknowns.
Yeah.
But the, um, there are some well-known actors in this one too, though.
And, um, I'd like to say that there are some new starters in the show.
There are some season actors.
Um, a lot of, you'll recognize a few of the actors in this.
And some of these will not recognize.
Overall, I thought the acting acting was pretty,
I would say was pretty good considering for a TV drama.
Thermatro Moroni's.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's one.
He's dealing in Anderson's.
Yeah.
Kim Moroni, who is, I remember I, he was also in Green Hornet.
And also on, uh, incredible Mr., uh,
Wunderstone, Bert Wunderstone.
I wasn't he in August of stage character.
I can't remember of that one.
So the president's son gets kidnapped.
Is it just him or is it him at a bunch of classmate?
All the classmates.
Okay.
And you start to realize that in this plot that,
the president's son was not just the main target.
When you have all these children who are part of the elite school there,
where their parents are probably paying 50,000 years of tuition,
you have some real powerful parents.
You realize that.
And basically they kidnapped these people.
All these people for a reason.
Right.
Where they want these parents to do stuff for them.
So they won't kill their children in a nutshell.
We want you to do this.
We want you to do that.
I'll show you child.
Well, die.
We will kill your child.
So it puts those parents in dilemma.
Do they help with.
These kidnappers and do what they want.
Or do they betray the authorities in the country?
And that's all are really on the plot itself.
That's all I really can't say without being spoiled or free.
Okay.
Is it an hour show?
It's an hour show.
It's an hour show.
So runtime without the commercials.
Probably about 20, 40, about around 45, 50 minutes.
40, 47 minutes.
Which is about your average.
Yes.
Okay.
Again, it does air on the Sunday night.
And I think it's going to run every Sunday night for a member.
I'm not sure on that one.
Okay.
I will say that it has, it's a drama thriller of course.
It has some twists and turns.
Some of these shows now that aren't just pure trash reality shows.
Right.
This one has some twists and turns to the Nazi coming.
Some of these shows that come out now are so predictable.
So many shows have jumped the shark because they got some numbers or making some money.
And to those people where we see jump the shark who doesn't know what that means.
It means basically where they have passed the point of no return where they're just running to show because they're trying to extend it.
I think this has potential on the show.
And I just hope that they don't drag it out.
Well, right now it looks like it's committed for 12 episodes.
The agents you're looking for is Marcus Finley, played by Lance Goats.
Yeah.
Marcus Finley.
My mind went out.
Oh, it's okay.
You would know him from House of Pain,
Temptation Confessions of a Marriage Caronslar, our family wedding.
The last fall.
He was in the, the more recent version of Steel Magnolia's.
So he's, he's done some stuff.
Do you see this being?
Do you see this as just one story line or do you think there's other story like a wrap this up and then move on to something else?
I think it's going to build off.
Okay.
Because I think where these kidnappers intentionally took these kids.
And you start to see some of the reasons why they took these certain children.
Because the parents are powerful.
And you'll see where one parent actually betrays the country so that they don't kill his child.
Okay.
And I think that will kind of build off the next one.
Do you think there'll be story lines with?
I don't want to say like a toy soldier's kind of a thing.
Which was actually a pretty good move for the time that it came out.
But yeah.
Where the kids start to do something or is this going to be more focused on the adults?
I think it's going to be more focused on the adults from what I could tell in the first pilot episode.
Okay.
Looks like it's going to air on Sunday night.
So I don't have a time frame.
It's probably going to be your 10 o'clock eastern night.
The clock central hour.
Because that's when you usually do your gritty or dramas.
Yeah.
But I don't see a toy soldier thing.
From the first episode I'd say that the children basically kept in line.
You saw nothing I really stood out.
Maybe a couple of the main characters.
Okay.
So we really can't say too much about it because there's only been one episode.
And I don't want it spoil.
Exactly.
So I guess we'll kind of have to tweak our final analysis a little bit.
I'm not going to ask you to give me a thumbs up thumbs down.
I'm not going to ask you to give me stars.
They deserve better.
Exactly.
Because the Empire wants to really know what's going on.
This thing airs Sunday night.
Not much really going on this time of year.
It's the same Patrick's day weekend.
So you don't have any major.
You have a second episode of Cosmos.
But I'll get down on Tuesday and on the next one.
Would you recommend that people watch this show?
As they're winding down their same Patrick's day weekend.
If you like the thrillers.
Yes.
I would say at least DVR for sure.
Okay.
So you wouldn't say you need to watch this live as it happens.
It's okay to DVR.
It's okay to DVR.
Yeah.
I would say it.
Oh.
Let's clarify a little bit better.
I love law and order.
Okay.
I love CSI.
All right.
Don't really care for scandal.
Don't really care for revenge.
Would this be a show you think I would be interested.
I could see.
Not it's not like more like a scandal.
Okay.
We're both fans of 24.
Okay.
Let's look at it.
Because you and I are both huge fan of 24.
We're ready for make.
Oh yeah.
We're totally ready for make.
Yeah.
Would you put it on that level or nothing is compared to 24.
But it's going to be a more of a 24-style move.
It's show compared to something like scandal.
My recommendation would be this.
If you like action, gun, genre.
I would say DVR and watch it before the second episode comes on.
Decide whether you wanted.
You know, recreate that stuff.
So you're kind of on the fence.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm not fully in.
But this was your bad.
Yeah.
I guess maybe you're still born here.
Are you going to give it a second shot?
Yeah.
So you can say too.
I will do the second episode.
Possibly third.
I think it has to be so.
It had some good twists and turns.
But I love it was predictable as you could tell.
And I thought a little bit may have been drawn out.
Little some little cheesyness.
There is some good comedy in there.
There's some good comedy spots in there.
I'll say this.
I'll probably give it at least three episodes.
But if I don't think they start really kicking the game up a little bit more, then that's
Emily like, you know.
So you kind of see this first episode.
You kind of see this not really.
Interesting.
I'm interested.
Do you see it going 12 episodes within this storyline?
Or how do you far do you see this particular storyline going?
I could see this storyline going basically where it builds off one off the next
off the next off the next.
Because I could see this going to 12 episodes.
And the reason I ask is, do you see this in more of a 24 format where this sees
in this or like even a show in the, if you remember from the 90's called Murder One,
where the entire season was one story line.
Or because this takes place in this guy's quote unquote first day.
Yeah.
So do we take him through all 12 episodes of this?
And then then if they get season two,
season two has some of the same characters with a new storyline.
I see where we, one week, we don't know.
Did have they filmed all 12 episodes?
Uh, I've seen titles for 10 of the 12.
I see that's the issues because they might.
11 and 12 don't have titles.
Yeah.
See, would they maybe at the point where they go?
Do you know what?
Let's hold off on the last two because if we don't get renewed for season two,
we're going to end it this way.
But that's, yeah.
But the question I'm asking you is, is this how you see this going?
Let's just, let's live in the world where all 12 episodes will air.
Okay.
We all what started on, we'll start on Sunday.
Yeah.
Will we wrap that up in episode 12?
Or do you see this wrapping that up in episode maybe three or four?
And then just taking it on like, this is the team that's going to handle crisis.
I think the storylines can go all 12.
I think off the basic storyline of the kidnapped children.
Okay.
I see that where it will be.
But there will be twists and turns, plots and turns.
What will build off?
So more like a 24 format than a long order.
Yes, exactly.
Yes.
I don't see this thing with the kidnapped children.
I don't see that ending at all in the first three episode four episodes.
Okay.
And hopefully they wrap up at the end of the year.
That's one thing I hate unless you know for sure there's going to be a next season.
You know, we'll keep an eye on this and I want, but if you're going to commit to this,
I want to revisit this here in a few weeks.
And I want to, because this is the first one of these we've done like this.
I want to, I want to come back to this and maybe have three or four weeks.
And see, are you still with it?
Are you still enjoying it?

I guess you could call it.
Because we're sports in entertainment and all sports in entertainment.
We are entertainment, you know, TV's entertainment.
But my final analysis is, watch the first episode.
If you like it, you know, watch it before the second one.
So in case you do like it, you'll be able to record the second one.
So you would suggest that versus just binging it when it's good together.
Yeah.
I would not say put it on series recording at this point yet.
Okay.
Fair enough that I will not do that at this point.
You know, there's like, in certain shows, the following 24,
since I've entered the mind that that series recorded.
You know.
And I'm just going to go ahead and just say this just for the people on iTunes.
