every once and again it's how I roll but I'm not alone for this episode joining me across the
desk as he tends to do from time to time is the official fact checker of this show and a man
who's seen a bear at least once in his life you may know him as fond don go but his mama name
him don't ford I'm gonna call him don ford welcome sir yostom park yeah can you turn my headphones
up a little bit over there don't please yeah sure someone closest to you there we go that's a
little better we are here today to review something because that's what we do in these particular
episodes it's what we're known for the director is Dave McCarrie you would know him mostly from
epic rap battles of history on the on the YouTubes it is called Briggs Me Bear for what's up
this whole thing yes sir you ready to sing yep I'm not in a great marketing gotta thank them Josh
the whole crew we love them they're our best friends this is gonna be a tricky episode yes it is
because we can't talk too much about what this film is yes so here's what you need to know
going in this movie stars Kyle Mooney who you might know from Saturday Night Live
he plays oh I lost my place here he plays a young man named James yep James 25 years old
okay smart kid yeah knows what he's doing lives kind of an isolated life in the desert you can say
that spends a lot of time watching his favorite program called Briggs Me Bear on VHS on VHS because
that's how he rolls he lives with Ted and his wife April played by Jane Adams who whom you might
remember from HBO's hung and the great Mark Campbell looks guy Walker yes amongst other things
and then the show gets canceled abruptly it was like 270 weekly episodes and he had a
mall and video cassette watch them all through has discussion boards about it and when the show ends
he's not happy with the way it ended so he decides he's going to finish the story of Briggs Me Bear
himself yes that's as far as I'm going because that's as far as IMDB goes that's as far as I'm going to go
this film runs about an hour 40 it's not very long but it's a film that we're specifically
being very very vague about because to me a good chunk of my enjoyment of this film is experiencing
this film knowing very very little because a lot of people if we gave it away people probably
I don't know if people would get it as well and they don't see it themselves it's a wonderfully
written script it's shot in a very independent film style but it has its own style I guess if that
makes any sense and I think it's a really great story Don you're you're you're looking at me kind of
yeah I'm like yeah I'm trying to microphone so I'm really trying I'm really trying to be very
careful on my words on this we have to be as because the emotion of this film requires you to be
spoiler free yes and let me say this that this is spoiler free absolutely about my words on this
he's dealing with a lot of life issues uh-huh that's as we all are yes because of the shoving
cancel but the thing I liked about this film there are a lot of turns in twist you do not see coming
there's a lot of layers to it absolutely and a lot of times there's those big twists and they say
them for the end there's a lot of twists through this whole thing even starting in the first quarter
of the film we can put it to you this way don't get the large soda yes because you're not going
to be in the theater here long anyway and don't show a plate yeah be be early yes stay stay through
the end go to the bathroom five minutes for the start time as I did yes and don't leave because
their twist in turns through this whole thing start to finish absolutely and um the thing I liked
about this film is it it shows the life issues very well of because of the shoving council
it's real in a different way yes does that is that I think is that the reason they're trying to
show these changes in a very good way and I think they do it in this I agree with you I totally
agree with you because there are some major life issues and changes that's all I'm going to say
that and when it hits you're you really feel for the character you you really really feel I think
um hold on sorry you okay uh which character are you asking about oh that the lead character
played by Mooney there James James yeah um he he does incredible in this acting Kyle Mooney is a guy
that I'm sorry nightlife tends to play kind of like kooky just like millennial type characters and he
takes that style and he adapts it to James very very well with by and makes James a likable sympathetic
character yes we're in an SNL you're kind of used to see him play these slacker kind of roles where
you're just kind of like dude get out of my face but here he takes that kind of style and turns
into a character that you genuinely care about the welfare of and you're very very understanding
due to these life changes absolutely and I think his acting is one of the best roles he has ever
done okay because when you really think about it because luckily done SNL and stuff like this but when
you take him and put this him in this situation of this film I I put my upcoming written review
at www.kobasbalcast.com that is our website that I think what I just said is that I think this was one
of his best roles he's ever done and because the way he and really the first time he's been asked
to really carry a film too yes and he does incredible in it playing the situations that he deals with
um of course the cast is good you know you know what what what handle with Danes you know what
you're going to get and I think they're acting the audience also in this the great great kineer is in
this yes so I mean there's some there's Makilla Watkins so I'm a big fan of as well
so I mean even I thought that Ryan Simpkins plays Aubrey plays um his sister that's not
giving anything away his sister she does really good and even the changes in her life in style
through this film she does that very well also I think Matt Walsh is also in this he's one of those
that guy and that thing people when you see him like oh I know that guy he's very very good in this
a very strong cast a very strong script it's executed well it's I I really can't even describe
the style of it like I said it's very independent but it's not indie you know what I mean like it's
not art for art sake but you know it wasn't shot in a huge bunch yes it's not a huge bunch of
film and it hasn't been kind of kind of look but it's not going to be an artsy film like something
from Terence Malik thank god imagine Terence Malik trying to do this one but let's speak that name
yes do not even invoke that name but I really love how the film starts off just with the VHS
mm-hmm it starts off with roles and really I mean there's so much to the story and we were talking
to Josh and the guys afterwards like the only way you can do a trailer for this without giving
anything away is just show the opening sequence where he's watching the show and that's it
and maybe say that the show was canceled and I'm gonna finish the show I think I mean yeah you
really can't you could just yeah I mean you have to do you have to be so vague because the again
the power in this and that really that emotion that carries it is to be spoiler free going in
and I think they could do a trailer where there's a scene where he goes I want to finish the
movie you know and this is but this is also going to be one of those where I'm telling people
that when this does release and you go see it do your friends a favor and don't tell them what's
coming yeah talk about it after you see it absolutely I agree with you 100 percent but I think
that trailer could be done but tricky but I think it would be very very tricky to do but the
show is canceled and I want to finish the movie and it shows him finishing the movie but that's a
good way to do it I think so I mean but because they really can't get into the depth of the life
challenges in a trailer I agree you can't you can't really address anything outside of the just
the basics without giving something away and I almost did myself not knowing and I'm really really
trying hard not to because on one thing I think and hunter agrees with me yes yes I think it's
I was seeing the film going this way and then when there's this big change it's like oh it's
going this yeah it's like oh there's I mean there's a lot of guesswork it's not one of those
formulaic style films it's got a good heart to it there's certain things that are that are normal
to film but there's a lot of really really refreshing elements to this too where you go you know what
I'm glad they did it that way yeah and one thing I will say is that I thought that the film
as watching it these changes give me a lot of questions mm-hmm and I'm thinking but as a film
it goes on there's a lot of answers to those questions as it goes on agree you know you know I'm going
to say very spoiler-free is for instance you learn about one of the cast members from Big B bear
is I'm going to say mm-hmm okay one of the the stars of the TV show as far as it needs to get
that's what I'm going to say that's being very spoiler-free but you know it really
with those changes I was this is so hard but I like the film I'm money also co-wrote the script along
with Kevin Costello and Costello I'm sorry it's a really really good film and I just I'm looking
forward to people seeing it when it does release because again we saw this way in advance yeah
it's about to they don't even have a release day yet while we're when we are recording this there's
not even a summary release day because they're trying to get it figured out and we've been told
that we did see the final cut so we can review this early enough so that we don't have to re-review
it which is nice really I mean there's not much else to do but get to the final analysis yeah I
want to say a shout out for not any role Michael's to come here but yeah he does really get in
there's a solid cast overall I'd like this film there's some good emotional but good comedy in
it there's some great comedy in this film along with some very good emotional issues absolutely but
I wanted to say also that there are some adult there are themes to this you know there are some
adult jokes don't warn you on this you know just to be fair to the empire absolutely all right let's
go to the final analysis the way we do the final analysis on this show we're not going to give you
thumbs up thumbs down we're not going to give you letter of grades or bare faces or anything like
that we're going to ask two questions question number one is would you see this film again if the
answers know then we're done here but if the answer is yes then there's a sliding scale that we
have because we measure it by how far you'd be willing to go to see it again from top to bottom the
spectrum runs like this first run into theater twilight matinee early morning second run at the
dollar theater actually leaving your house to go get it from red box streaming it on Netflix or
watching it on cable done would you see this film again oh yeah how far you want to go I would say
twilight matinee twilight so you're right there on the edge okay yeah all right I would see this
again I would pay full price to see it so you give it to the coveted it's one of those I want to see
it with people not knowing anything and I can watch their reactions and I can still enjoy this film
for what it is yes it's just that well done and I'm really looking forward to being able to share
this film with people when it releases and by the time you hear this it will be available to you

to get to see how the trailer works out yeah and how they how they pull that out okay so let's end
