But I'm not alone sitting in the co-host chair because he is the co-host is a man who is very warmly bundled because it's a little cold outside but that doesn't mean that he can't be warm.

Does it work out the kids are calling these days? Does it work? I am not answering that question.
I may be dumb but I ain't stupid.
And the official fact check of this show is here and a man who apparently doesn't understand that I have a policy.

Whatever do we do one of these things it is to review something just like we've done 349 times before this.
But this one's special because it is a milestone because it is number 350.
And this is a very highly anticipated film we're going to talk about because it's time to talk about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther.
For start this whole thing, yes sir.
We got think Susan Delaney, Earbait, Susan Jacobs and Disney for the invite.
Thank you guys so much. I wish I could have been there today. I could not but the boys were there and that's why we're going to talk about it.
They give us the opportunity to see films before they're released so that we can talk to the empire about it and help them make their best possible decisions.
Incredible people. Such fans.
Such fans.
Love those partnerships.
Let's get into it. Ryan Kugler, you may know him from Fruitvale Station.
Also the director of Creed, but not the sequel.
Really? I've been told he's not doing this.
Oh, okay.
So for those of you that do not know, go back and watch Captain America's Civil War.
So you can get up to date on who T'Challa is.
He is now the king of Wakanda because from the events in Captain America's Civil War,
he now takes over the mantle of his homeland where he is going to be dealing with a kingdom that is more technologically advanced
and just about anywhere on the planet.
Like the one of the metals that is mined in his kingdom is basically what made Cap Shield.
And he called it by Brainiam.
And, uh, I mean, this is a superhero movie.
It's dealing with family and adventures and betrayal and all the things pointing in between.
Are there any major plot points that we need to hit with this?
Well, I mean, let's have this cast.
First of all, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Niyongo, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown,
Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Circus.
And you got to bring up Latissia Wright because I'm going to talk about her.
Okay. Fair enough. Well, you just did.
All right. Fair enough. Fair enough.
Chad?
Uh, Danny Garari from The Walking Dead.
Okay. Remember, I'm not a walking dead fan. You wouldn't know better than that.
In a nutshell, it encapsulates uh, T'Challa's journey to ascending the throne,
even though he's, he feels like he's, he's not quite there yet.
But it doesn't take long for somebody to challenge him on that throne.
And all different kinds of hell break loose.
And this is another one of those comic properties that has been bandied about for decades.
Yeah. Wesley Snifes. At one point.
But then Blade came him out and that kind of changed the course there.
But now I, you know, we often, Kevin Smith on the show where he says,
I love that I've lived to see this day.
Yeah. You know, all of the things from our childhood, I loved the character of Black Panther as a kid.
Uh, I was always a big fan of just the look of the costume and the richness of the stories.
And now that we're getting to that point where we're marching towards the end of phase three.
And this one's, I mean, this is the last one we're going to get before Infinity War comes out in May.
And then what, uh, Ant-Man or Wasp in July.
That'll be in July. And, uh, you'll also have that coming off to New Jersey.
Then you'll also have, uh, venom this fall.
And then we get Deadpool two. We also get Deadpool tool. That'll be in June.
So it's not like they're slowing down. No.
I mean, we're talking right now.
Rotten Tomatoes rating of 97%.
As we're taping this.
Too high, too low. Just right.
Right. Yeah.
Just right. And this film, I'm going to just say it out right right now.
I really like this film.
I mean, it runs about two, two, 15 somewhere in that neighborhood.
And you know, it's long, but still it does not probably it all.
This film, which it's basically like Chad was saying,
it's the story of him taking over the throne.
But it gives a little bit of the past history on how that
transcended in the story of what's going to happen later.
So it gives you some backlash.
But this film really, which I really enjoyed about it.
Oh, flashback action.
It really shows just the story of a family in their country.
A lot of these superhero films.
It's about the superhero taking on the evil person.
And they go around the world and they have to save the world from this
dangerous machine or dangerous weapon and blah, blah, blah, blah.
With a bunch of action, this is not in that role.
Now, for those of you that are uninitiated to the show,
Don kind of represents our every man.
I have no credit.
Don does not see films like this through the same lenses that Chad and I do.
Because Chad and I are deeply rooted in the geek community.
And for those of you that don't understand, we are geeks.
We are not nerds. Geeks are nerds with social skills.
It's another difference.
So the lens is that Don's going to see this through.
May, may differ from what Chad's going to see.
I unfortunately could not make this screening.
So I get to kind of referee this thing.
I have every intention to.
By the time you hear this, it will be available for your edification.
But I have every intention of this being an opening weekend
of screening for myself.
So Chad, I'm going to ask you because, again,
you and I are kind of on the same page on a lot of these things.
Is this a superhero film?
Is this a comic book film?
Is this just a geek film?
Oh God.
That's a hard one to answer.
I'm here to ask the hard questions.
It's what the Empire wants to know.
It hits all the right notes for all the right,
part and parcel groups that we're referring to here.
It's going to feed every appetite
in the most delicious way imaginable.
The pacing is there.
The small references are there
that the hardcore geeks will just go,
you know, I'll giddy over.
You see really wicked displays of power and technology.
So it's really hard to say honestly where it falls
within those three choices.
For those of the uninitiated.
Like me.
But I wouldn't even say you because you've seen all the films
in this point.
There are a lot of people
because of the hype surrounding this film
that my thought may look to this as a jumping on point.
Is this a good jumping on point?
Definitely.
Yeah, because there's a little flashbacking
like your references to Captain America
and his father is all I'm going to say being spoiler free.
Absolutely.
But the thing is you could really know the story
and watch this without knowing
what happened with Captain America,
what happened with this, what happened with that, what happened with this,
relates to this, and this, and that, and that,
and your sister's aunt's uncle's cousin
and added her best friend Betty Lou.
But this one I really enjoyed because it's just the story
in the history of Black Panther
and how he is taking over the tribe
in his country and their love.
It's just about them.
It's not this mindless take on the evil empire guy.
I really like the story of it tells the whole story
of this character.
And they encapsulate and nutshell the whole origin of vibranium,
how it got here, how it affected
what kind of, and how it kind of created the,
their lifestyle.
And now they're uninitiated.
Do not miss the first two minutes.
Yeah, because it encapsulates it very well.
But I mean, it is right at the beginning.
You know what it reminded me of?
What's that?
And I think maybe this is more than just a little bit intentional.
When Mufasa was telling Simba about
the shadowy place in the stars.
I mean, it is Disney.
I'm telling you, it's like you never see them talking
but you could tell it's Tachaka talking to a young Tachala.
And he's asking, you know,
Tachaka being his father's father.
Right.
And explaining to him who they were,
how they got here,
how they got to where they are now,
and how important Vibrantium is to what they have become.
So Kugler, I mean, the guys proven himself.
He's crushed this.
This is his third feature,
which is crazy.
When you think about Fruitvale Station,
which came out of nowhere,
and all of a sudden took the world by storm,
then he takes, he gets creed,
an amazing film,
and then gets announced to direct this.
And it's just kind of like,
where do you go from here?
Zero to 90 in about 30 seconds.
It's part of a large franchise that was flagging.
And then he takes the reins of this thing,
and it's like, good lord.
So the guys got skins on the wall.
I think we can safely say,
director wise, this is in good hands.
That was a brilliant choice.
It was a blind choice.
Chadwick Boseman, who's already established himself with the character
in Captain America's Civil War.
We know what to expect from him,
because we saw him already.
I was on board when I saw him in Civil War as well.
Let's talk about Martin Freeman.
We saw a little bit of him in that one too.
He gets a lot more fleshed out in this story.
Was it him or Andy Circus that was in Civil War?
I want to say they...
Actually, I think it was Circus.
It was in it.
I think Freeman was in it.
No, I think they were both in it.
Fair enough.
So let's talk about the rest of this cast.
He wasn't Civil War.
Heavy hitters in this thing.
Is there enough room for everybody in this?
Even though it's T'Challa's story,
how does this work from an ensemble standpoint?
Because you've got such amazing people in this cast.
I would say that it's almost as much
Michael B. Jordan's story.
Playing Eric Killmonger.
I think it's every bit
as much Eric Killmonger's story as it is
T'Challa's story.
And he plays this character
that has a...
I'm going to say his bloodline of royalty.
But he has that flood life attitude
that you cannot believe.
Massive chip on his show.
And rightfully so.
Yes, you could possibly...
Not possible. You could understand.
Not a proof, but understand.
He's not an entirely detestable villain
because you sympathize with him
because he didn't ask for any of this.
He's owed to him because he feels like
he had to give so much away in his youth
that he feels like he's paid his dues
and now he's come to collect.
This is the 18th film.
I see you as well.
That's impressive.
The one I have to give out is the T'Challa, right?
You mentioned her earlier.
Her character plays the princess
or the brother of...
Princess or sister.
Her Black Panther is the brother.
And her attitude in this is...
Yes, she's royalty.
Yes, she knows her place.
She's scientifically smart.
But she has that kind of spunker attitude.
She's got sass.
She has a ton of sass in this thing.
And when you see her character,
so much stuff during this film,
every time you see her expect to laugh.
And she's basically T'Challa's M.
Oh no.
Cute.
She's more of these guys.
There's the weapons.
The attitude is kind of...
There's plenty of times when her character is on screen
where she does stuff where
she has that spunk where you just laugh.
Even though she's formally
royal blood and all that.
She don't care, but they get along with it
because she does it in that right way.
Her spark in this thing was incredible.
In a lot of cases, all that takes is like some side eye.
Yeah, everybody was cracking up.
She's really fun to watch.
I'll give you one little minor, minor,
minor spoiler, three, two.
One.
During the challenges thing,
no one wants to challenge him.
And then she raises the hand and
no one wants to challenge.
Let's just get to the other way.
Let's just get it done.
Because it's course that's killing me.
Yeah.
So I'd be her attitude.
I just loved it.
We've spent now almost 15 minutes
praising this film.
Are there any criticisms of this film?
Do you think of any?
I mean, because the pacing is on point.
You've managed to take a
pluck a character out of relative obscurity
for the uninitiated.
But I mean, cause let's face it.
If you can make two smash it films
out of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
And Ant-Man.
I think it's pretty much proven at this point
that Marvel can pretty much do no wrong.
Well, cinematically.
These movies, a lot of them are now two-twenty-two-thirty.
Right.
Yeah, you know it's long.
But I think that it flowed well.
You could tell it's long.
But that's my only gripe.
And the thing that I like is it's still a good story
of a history and everything.
But it still has its bank of month of action.
It has that good mix of action.
But it's not that mindless action.
Okay. Everything has a purpose.
Yeah. And of course, with this, there is a little
suspension of disbelief of how this country
being so advanced could be hidden from the world
because everybody can keep it a secret.
Oh, there's another franchise that did the same thing
on the other side of that.
But this is in real world.
Then they find the real world.
But that would be my one little gripe
if I had anything because I am nitpicking on this.
I mean, the fact that you're having to drill down as far as you are
to find some of the criticism, that says a lot.
Because it is a comics-based movie after all
that you're pretty much going to have to dig really deep.
All right. Good comedy.
Good emotion.
Flow as well.
The CGI is incredible.
The scenes in Korea.
Because there are some scenes that take place in Korea.
At night, beautiful.
Beautiful, even though it's not CGI.
I mean, yeah.
Let's ask the other question that the universe is,
that the universe in Marvel and the Empire of our show.
They're interchangeable.
How many extra scenes?
Two.
Two? Okay.
It's kind of like they have the,
like they do.
Then they have a tag.
And then there's the regular role in credits.
And at the very end, there's a tag we're staying for.
So everybody needs to know there's two of them.
Because one does not simply lead during the credits of a Marvel film.
So there are two.
One's at the very end.
And it's worth staying for.
Leave it be.
That's what I'm going to say. It's worth staying for.
That's being toys while they're for.
Anything else you want to talk about before we get to the final analysis?
I was surprised.
I kind of figured something tells me that this was really going to catch you off guard.
Because you knew next to nothing about this character outside of what you saw.
And for the layman man without the Greek cred like me,
who's the mainstream person who doesn't know the.
The ends and outs of everything.
Yeah, the second cousin of the third sister of the super hero X.
Kevin Bacon.
Yeah, Kevin Bacon.
Yeah, I think it really works.
They do this one well.
It's different.
It's just normal to shoot them up action.
Let's keep the story going so we can make some money.
All right.
The way we do the final analysis on the show,
we're not going to give you a thumbs up thumbs down.
We're not going to give you letter grades, numbers,
you know, anything like that.
Cap shields. We're not doing that.
We're going to ask up to two questions.
Question number one is, would you see this film again?
If the answers know them, we're done here.
But if the answer is yes,
then the second question that we're going to ask is,
how far are you willing to go to see this?
How far you're willing to go to see it?
Judges, how much they enjoyed this film.
So from the best of the best of the worst of the best,
here's the order.
Full price at a theater.
Twilight showing.
Matinee showing.
Early morning on a weekend.
Second run at the dollar theater.
Actually, leaving your house to get it from red box.
Streaming it on Netflix.
Waiting for it on cable.
Chad, we'll start with you.
Would you see Black Panther again?
Come to the conclusion that I'm pretty much done with 3D.
You're not talking about that recently.
So, that, not even playing a factor into this.
I would definitely pay,
I would love to see this in Dolby Atmos or Dolby Cinema.
To me, the sound makes more of an impact on me than the visuals.
Okay.
If I can see this on an iMac screen and Dolby Atmos or Dolby Cinema,
I'd be happy for some.
I don't think you can do both.
I don't know. I mean, I don't know what to do.
Atmos is Dolby Cinema.
I am act as iMacs.
I thought that Atmos was just a sound system.
I haven't seen them together.
Okay.
So, I don't know. Whatever your premium is.
Barring 3D because I just don't think that 3D would.
Do you don't think that 3D would add anything to this film at all?
With some of those action scenes, yes.
I think it would.
Even some of the space scenes and the nature scenes.
It really doesn't well.
To me, they just didn't dwell long enough in those realms.
Would be worth the extra five bucks.
I don't know. I don't think so.
Well, let's get to you, Don.
Would you see this again?
Yeah. How far are you willing to go?
I'm going to give it actually.
I'm going to give it a coveted.
So, full price at the theater.
That's how you roll it.
I would give it to 3D.
And you know, I was talking to Susan after the show.
That's like 8-4.
You're lovely, why?
Being from Africa.
And a lot of this takes place in Africa in the storyline.
Really showed Africa well.
She was really impressed.
Susan said something after the show.
She goes, you know, we're worried about some of these communities that they would be willing to have open arms
or closed arms with this film.
They're really worried.
And I go, my wife from there who's from Africa, she loved it.
So, don't worry too much.
She loved this film.
She showed Africa in a great, great, great way.
Ryan Kugler seems to have another hit on his hands
with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther.
Sorry, this whole thing.
Yeah.
