Because here's the thing.
Let me just ask of him because I was not there.
We were dividing and conquering.

From a non-spoiler standpoint.
Because the question I have to ask is.
Does this stick to the source material?

Here's the thing.

So let me give you a little background on.

In the early 80s.
Early 80s.
What did you say?
Marvel did a thing.
Yeah.
Called Secret Wars.
Okay.
And it was nothing short of a merchandise crab.
But it was a six or eight issue limited series where a lot of the heroes were taken to
the planet of this thing called the Beyonder.
There was actually a Secret Wars 2 and then they redid it again four or five years ago.
Give it a take.
And the Beyonder was performing this grand experiment where he put hero against hero.
Okay.
For its time it was really good.
Yeah.
I very much enjoyed it.
Okay.
Well what they decided to do is they decided to spruce Spider-Man up a little bit.
And in this series.
Spider-Man grabs this ball of goo basically.
And it envelops him and he for gosh for what?
A couple of years.
It was a new suit that was all black with a big white spider on it.
Okay.
And it was different because he didn't have to put the costume on.
It was what they call a symbiote.
And what that did is it basically attached itself to him.
And all he had to do is think about it and he the suit would put itself on.
Okay.
Problem is the symbiote became its own sentinate being basically and drove Peter Parker to the brink of insanity.
So Peter got rid of it and then there's this guy Eddie Brock who is Tom Hardy's character who picked it up.
But chose to embrace the darkness rather than fight it and he became Venom who was a villain for many many years.
And then in the 90s, early 90s, they did a series called Venom Lethal Protector where he kind of became an anti-hero.
That's what this is based on.
Okay.
So this is based on Venom Lethal Protector.
Because when you say-
I have that issue on it.
When you say does it stick to the source material you have to be more specific.
Okay.
No, that's a fair point.
Does the movie do exactly what you said?

I wouldn't expect it to.

And it runs just under two hours.

Which for a superhero movie it's a nice breath of fresh air.

The story is, is you got the evil businessman played by Ahmed.
Carlton Drake.

He's a great actor.
Basically, the movie starts off.
You have this spaceship come in,
which he's like the provider for CEO.
The CEO, the company, in a crash,
and they bring back the symbiots.
He is kind of, you know, tell no one.
Oh, okay.
He's like, what are you hushing me through?
No, no, no, no.
Let me ask you this.
Yeah.
As you go in, because I don't want to go
all the way in this thing.
Yeah.
Is Eddie Brock a photographer?
He's a newsman.
Okay.

And so, basically, Ahmed's kind of like in a way,
the guy from the Infinity Stones, the bad dude.

He may have a good intention but in bad ways.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Thanos.

And the thing is, and Chad kind of said the best.
When it comes to him being a villain, he's kind of like a mixture of a villain and a hero.
He's an anti-hero.
Yeah.
Kind of like a stone cold is the best way to put him.
That's what I said.

But here's a thing about this film.
It's not you're which I put in my review again.
The...
Got the superhero taking on the bad dude trying to destroy the Eve Earth and all that.
It has a good storyline, and it makes...
It's kind of like one of those beginning movies, which actually has a good story.
story and there's not an extra 30 minutes of dumb mindless action that's not
needed like some of these other films have done recently. And this is an
origin story. Yeah. Yeah. So I kind of like that that that that yeah there's
action. There's action. There's good CGI. The CGI is really good. For me without
the Greek Craig coming in, I get like the story line. There was a good story
and to see the relationship between the the simbic come simbic and any
getting together and beating off each other was kind of a nice little part of
the thing and hardy did the voice of venom as well. So but there is an entity
that he fights in this being riot and I don't really want to go into the
depth of what riot is you can figure it out on your own. I think shout I
think we're up to you. Okay. Because you you and I will identify on a different
level with this film then don't go because I was going to come and kind of
cold. I will say this for let him okay on that battle right it's not that
whole movie that's not the whole movie right that old right it's more
good origin story. Yeah. Okay. But go ahead. Let's be real for a minute. Okay. I'm a
little concerned because again I haven't seen this. I know 29% on Rotten
Tomatoes is not giving me a lot of confidence right now. Right. I mean 7.1 is
your rating on the M. Dibb which is so better than 29%. I don't yeah I'm not
quite understanding double that. But I defer to you sir. Okay. Because I
again I haven't seen it. I have every intention on doing so. Jasper is very
interested as well. I don't know how long well I guess since I guess
since the early or since the late 80s when Venom became his own entity when it
became more than just a spare suit that Spidey had in his closet that he
chucked. Now Venom was not part of the Sinister 6 that was just carnage right. Oh I
don't I'd have to I'd have to verify on that. Okay. But given that given that the
first cinematic representation that we had of Venom was an utter
travesty. Oh it took you longer to say that sentence and he was in a film. And
just who they picked how they portrayed him was an absolute joke. It was
laughable. Casting Toe for Grace as Eddie Brock. Neither one of them are the
Sinister 6 Dockock, Electro Craven, The Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and Vulture.
Okay. Because I know they were working on that Sinister 6 film for a while and
just completely imploded under the Garfield version because it was the old
school. Right. Amazing span of annual number one January 1964. I was way off. But I was
a little bit concerned because so hold on. Sandman recreate the Sinister 6 Venom wasn't it.
Okay. I'll just I was a little concerned because I thought that we were going to be
too hung up on yet Tom Hardy's done a little stint in the comic book you know
comic book world before and not it was Luke warmly received at best. So I had my
concern not his fault. No. Then I say that he's a producer on this film. So and
then I did I read that his son coached him on this role because he didn't even
understand who Venom was. Okay. But when he once he steps into that role to quote
the film he is Venom. Okay. He is that he's everything that I was hoping I would
see in the Raimi trilogy. I was hoping they were going to do in the in the Garfield
version. This is the venom we've been waiting for and I know that this this movie's
taken several lumps because people say it doesn't have an identity that it doesn't
know what it wants to be. Does it want to be an action film? Does it want to be a
comedy? Does it want to be a horror film? But it's an origin story. But it's an origin
story. But most and and I put this in my written review of W. W. W. is a club of
spots.com. That is. That is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think that a film that is a man that
is about a man struggling with his identity. It kind of makes sense that the film that
is the heart of his most superhero story. Right. Seems to be struggling with its
identity. Which is why I liked man of steel because man of steel was about a guy that
realizes that he's not like everybody else and he struggles to find who he is. And
if you didn't like man of steel, go pound sand. It was a good movie. But it's funny when
it needs to be funny. It's terrifying when it needs to be terrifying. But not so much
like something that would make you not want to see it. Right. I know you hate horror films.
But venom is kind of a ghastly character. Visually is it better than it looks on TV?
Much. Okay. Good. Much. I don't. Because the first time I saw him, I was like, when
you see him, you've seen the shot before because it's in the trailer. But when you see him
take his true form. Right. It took my breath away. Now, I will say the scene that I've seen
recently in TV spots where he's like in a room and he basically just kind of thunderclaps
everything out with the big blades on his hands. Oh, that's not him. Okay. But that was
a cool shot. That is a cool shot. But it's it offers fan service in the right ways.
There are some things that are that happen that are so obscure that only fanboys are going
to get it. But is it that kind of thing where if you're not a fanboy, it won't bother
you? Right. Okay. Good. Now, I mean, they there are some things that happen to where like
I know that I was marking out like a like a school kid and there were people around me
going, what the hell are you so excited about? I'm like, it has to be later. Yeah, it has
to be later. But I dug it. I dug the heck out of it. So I wasn't disappointed at all
there. It's it's not all things to all people. But this thing has its audience and it's
going to be. But a decent comic movie shouldn't be right. There are certain things that you
can pander and there are certain things that you should now question three and three. Do
you think this would be good in 3D? I was kind of debating on that myself. It couldn't
hurt it. Are they IMAX 3D? I know they're IMAXING it. I mean, I'd love to because that's
not something in the credits about 3D or something like that. Sometimes that's overseas though.
Yeah. And I could see how I would it really does seem like the 3D craze has kind of reached
reach critical mass. I think a reach critical mass a long time ago. And I don't think it's
going to get back to that until Cameron finally gets Avatar 2 out. Cause that's what started
this whole thing. But I don't know you feel the way you feel. I'm holding my breath for
it. But I don't I don't know how this would truly benefit from it. I'm with the well,
we'll address that in the final analysis. Okay. I will say this there of course state
through the credits. There's a yeah. Is there one post credit scene? There's two mid
credit scene. So the mid and then the final. Yeah. And the final is long. I'm not going
to say anything about it. But it's probably about two, three minutes long. Don't you think
it? Well, I wouldn't exactly call that a post credit scene though because it's not really
related to what we just saw. It is, but it isn't. Okay. So I'm trying to again try try
as they spoiler free. But you don't want to leave. You don't want to leave. But one does
not simply leave during the credits of a marble. No, one does not. I don't do it anyway.
No, I never have anything else we want to talk for gets final analysis. Now let's do
this. Alright, the way to do the final analysis on the show, we're not going to give you
thumbs up, thumbs down. We're not going to give you letter grades, numbers, thwips, anything
like that. What is a twin genius, sir? That's the sound effect of Spidey shooting his
webs. Yeah. Yeah. Just like night crawler teleporting is, what is it? Bam. Bam. Bam.
Just smell of sulfur. Just just like Wolverine unsheathing his claws. Snicked. Snicked.
We have no life. I should change my Twitter feed this whip. No, no, you shouldn't. No. Okay.
I'm looking for something else. You are a huge nerd. No, I am a geek. No, the difference.
We're going to ask up the two questions. Question number one is, would these gentlemen see this
film again? If the answers know, then we're done here. But if the answer is yes, and the
follow-up question I'm going to ask is how far are they willing to do so? Will they pay
full price at a theater? Will they pay a twilight show? Will they pay a matinee show?
Will they go early morning on a weekend? Will they wait until it was the second one at
the dollar theater? Will they wait until maybe they have to leave the house to go to from
red box? Will they stream it on Netflix? Or would they watch it on cable? Don, let's start
with you. Yeah. Would you see Venom again? Yeah. How far you want to go? You got to do
your sandy bobber. I don't know if that's the wrong one. That's this one. Did Dean? How far
are you willing to go to do it? I'll do twilight. Okay. In 3D, maybe. I don't know. If they
offer 3D, I think it might be a little fun in 3D. What do you see this again? What do
you think I have to ask the question? Absolutely. How you doing? I want to see this in Dolby
Atmos so bad. Are they offering it in Dolby Atmos? Yes. Dolby Atmos Dolby Cinema. It's the
same thing. It's now called Dolby Cinema. Yeah. I would kill to see this Dolby Cinema.
I think it'd be amazing. Ruben Flicer directs Venom for this whole bank. Yes. I think you're
