Oh yeah!
Greetings Empire member and or members what what is going on right now that's a
greeting I haven't heard in like five months but it's okay because the home
shows are back so glad that you are with us because this is the 456th
so good that you're here my name is Rob I am the executive producer of the
clubhouse podcast it's just good to be back man I'm very excited I'm so
excited I might have a megaphone you don't know let's go around the day I
sitting across from me and the co-host here is the lady of the house and the
most important person to this particular episode because she saw the movie
the rest of us didn't she is Jen Rome hello friend hello everyone
rounding out the day is the official fact checker of this show and I am very
afraid to push this button right now but I'm contractually obligated to but I
also am contractually obligated to do this if I have to you may know him as
Iqbunu but his mom and even Don Ford I'm gonna call him Don Ford what's up
brother so this is what it's like to be back again it is it's good you know it's
good to do the home shows again as part of the vocal network you know we do
these these reviews shows for those of you that may be late to the game we had
some repairs done here at the home studio that would kind of hinder us from
being able to do these for a long time but we still did our written reviews at

this is going to relate to this interview I literally was an interview I mean
this review I saw okay I literally went on the internet it looked at their
site and I literally thought about trying out for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders
because it does not say you have to be a female I was going to show up in my
sweats why not so I'm saying about that whatever we do one of these it is to
review something and this is no exception Zara Hayes writes and directs palms

gonna read the M. Deb here a group of women form a cheerleading squad at their
retirement community all right this thing's right at 90 minutes long PG 13
let's just dive right into this general and this being mother's day weekend
general got to take her mom with her as the plus one so let's just start there
in this kind of a film do you think you enjoyed it more or less by having your
mom with you I want to say I enjoyed it more okay I know there's another
screening next week that my red hat group has actually been invited to go in
regalia oh model top and I think that would have been the only way better to
have seen it is with all of them but I'll never turn down the opportunity to
do something fun with my mama and it was really nice there were none of those
cringe were the adulty oh my gosh I'm sitting next to my mother this is
happening on the screen moments good so there's none of those so all of this
comes from Diane's Keaton's character right so if I read your review
correctly she joins this retirement community and she has to be a part of
something yes and so this is what she goes with she decides she doesn't like any
of her options and her because solo synchronized underwater basket weaving not
exactly a paralle well quilting quilting be hey none wrong with quilting the
southern bells my moderate does the quilting you have to be from the south and
she's from New York but she's going through some of her stuff and her
neighbor comes across her cheerleading uniform and they decide among some other
things happen and they decide they're going to start a cheer squad or a cheer
club okay and they find out from the queen bee of the community that they
need at least eight members so they have auditions and some of these women's
have some really good moves still it's it's kind of impressive did an hour
thirty one feel right did it feel rushed I mean I feel like this is it didn't feel
rushed it was kind of like the perfect length the script was well done it was
believable you you felt like some of this really could happen and it really
would happen that way okay there was a little bit where it was kind of like
okay for the sake of a movie we're gonna have this reaction here but it went
with the story okay and I can't give that away or it gives away some of the
what was there kind of a bad mom's vibe to this do you have like the her her
antagonist if you will being the prim and proper this is the way things are
done in the retirement community where she's kind of rebelling against it was
there a vibe there for that well there was that queen bee character but she was
only in bits and pieces of it okay I think to create a little bit of that vibe
you had the conversation I mean there's language in this and you had some
conversations because this is obviously a retirement community and you have
more women than men and their comment of oh I was hoping it was a man that was
gonna move in next door and some conversations that go along the themes of
that but really nothing nothing truly surprising I mean you can kind of
figure out what's gonna happen and how it's gonna happen and when it's gonna
happen but I really like the way they did it you know it does touch a little
bit on mortality because you are in a retirement community I'm halfway to 90
I get it you know it also was live life the way you want to live it okay you
get to a point where people don't get to tell you what to do you get to tell
them what to do you've lived enough years come on all right that's the boss of
me yeah and there's a few little subplots with it that add you know it just
helps with the flow of the story and makes it a little more believable any
downsides to this not truly okay not truly good the audience as I have in my
written review at www dot the clubhousepodcast.com that's our website the
audience I was with was a mixed crowd there were a good range of ages good
range of men women and all different walks of life amongst making that
combination but the whole audience was cheering together you know we were
clapping along with stuff we were laughing we were going oh at the same
moment there's the gasps at the same moment so it really was something that
everyone in there could follow and enjoy good all right anything else you want
to talk about don any questions you have not really was a plot really good
flowing and stuff like that got good comedy of mix of comedy dealing with the
old age on this film would you say I wouldn't say all day I mean elderly people
the retirement home retirement age people it wasn't so much the humor aimed at
their age I mean the age is there it's obviously there but they didn't play
on it as much as they weren't using it as a crush okay good okay and that's
important because yeah that's like films like this content to do that yeah and I
didn't feel like that was a crutch it was a okay so this is where you are in
life but that doesn't mean anything doesn't define you all right anything else
for the final analysis no all right the way it's it's a good date movie and it's
one you can take your mom and you're not gonna cringe sitting next to her I
believe me those are a few and far between anymore the way we do the final
analysis on this show we're not gonna give you thumbs up thumbs down we're not
gonna give you letter grades numbers megaphone's anything like that I'm gonna
ask the general up to two questions question number one is would she see this
film again if the answers know that we're done here but if the answers yes then
the follow-up question is gonna be how far would she be willing to go to do so
from the best of the best to the worst of the best here's the spectrum full
price to the theater down to a twilight showing down to a matinee down to an
early morning on a weekend down to second one at the dollar theater down to
leaving the house to get it from red box down to streaming it on your favorite
streaming service because we can't just say Netflix anymore because 150 of them
down to wait for it on cable general would you see palms again yes how far you
want to go to do it I would do a matinee with my most is margaritas something to
help enjoy it a little more there you go there you have it this is why we do
this we do this for the kids it is Zera Hayes writing co-writing and directing
palms for insolving yes you're gonna think Bianca and her best friends again
and I think they're gonna use that one of these days I am I am holding on to
hope we are such big fans of our vendors they give us the opportunity to see
films before their release so that we can talk to you guys about them so if it
wasn't for them we wouldn't we'd be doing these like after the movies came out
