Greetings Empire member and or members, let's go on on, you hear the sound of my voice,
you are greatly appreciated on multiple levels.
I remember that movie, I remember that very young Jim Carrey lip-syncing welcome to the jungle.
Is there an echo in this room?
It is no secret that Disney is purchasing pretty much everything fox related.
So they are getting the X-Men, they are getting the Fantastic Four and they are getting Deadpool.
Both Deadpool films have been rated R, Disney not real keen on that historically speaking because they left that to Hollywood films.
The theory is that if they could take Deadpool 2 and make it a PG-13 cut that it might help the viability of the Deadpool franchise as it moves to Disney.
So what they did is they recut it to some of the more vulgar stuff out I'm sure. Don saw this, we didn't and it's told Princess Bride style with Fred Savage in the bed in the bear's jersey and the whole nine.
The other thing about this is getting a very short run in theaters.
Ryan Reynolds, very big into charity, he has worked with Fox and one dollar from every ticket that has been sold for this movie and it's one or two week run.
We are recording this the night after it opens and I read today and it's not in a whole ton of theaters last night it made $900,000 and that's on a Wednesday night.
The dollar per ticket goes to Fudge Cancer. Now you saw this but did you feel like I have to be very careful with what I asked this because did you feel like the way they cut it brought anything new to it or did it seem like just the same film with just interstitials.
Not counting the bedroom scene. No, nothing new. Nothing new. So you did the bedroom scene. Okay, but but they of course they had to cut some stuff out of it to keep the same run time.
And that's where actually it's a little bit longer but again they have about 15 20 minutes total in that bedroom scene over about 10 periods throughout the film which they allegedly filmed in August.
Okay, but the thing is is that they would if there's a scene that needs to be cut, I think what they did. Hey, this is a good time to flashback. Okay, you know what I'm saying? They'll have two, three minutes together. Then they'll go back to the story.
Then we'll have another two, three minutes go back to the story. Any time does Fudge Savage say is this a kissing book? I can't remember off the top. I don't think so.
Because I feel like if he doesn't say that there may be a certain level of failure to this, because that's my favorite line from the princess bride. Okay, that he says, I can't I can't remember because I don't even know that we show in the trailer that he's basically holding Fred.
Yeah, he hasn't taped to the bed.
And it's shorts off. And it's all duct tape, by the way. Yeah, he hasn't duct tape to the bed, but it starts off with the covers over him.
He'll just wake up, sleepy head, and then he moves the blanket and there's Fred Savage.
You go, where am I? And then, you know, you're on the set of the princess bride of your room. And then they get into the thing.
Now, here's the only thing that's new is that 15 minutes of roughly of the Savage Ryan Reynolds talking back and forth and doing the bedroom scene. That's it.
Nothing else is added. And they make a few jobs here and there, but they say to the point, we're making this BG 13, BG 13.
So whenever there's a curse, he has a little hand clicker, he pushes the button here, the beep. So you know, you know what they're saying, but they're beeping out the whole time.
So they didn't re-loop it. They just beeped it. Yeah, they beeped it. Yeah, the beep. And they really didn't do it in the film. It's just when they're talking, but there was a couple of times in the film. Now, there was the scene where he has the new legs.
Yes. They pixel that. Oh, okay. So they have to pixel that to keep a BG. I just literally looks at TJ's like, oh, okay. There you go.
So they handle that in a very well way to have making it a PG 13 by all means. And he goes on the airport. We only have two.
And this is when you save him. Yeah, it's true. Yeah, he goes, don't use him up. We have to save him for these certain times.
You know, so the get back and forth between Savage and Ryan Reynolds is good. I'm going to say that right now. He was good.
But the beeping thing, it ran his course and he kept it going. It ran out of fuel, but just still they're pushing the car on it.
So they did. I think that did it too much. And here's the thing that really bug me about this is they did a scene in that bedroom where the
they start talking and there's a famous person that we all know as an actor. And you even mock his name a lot just to give you a clue when we talk his name.
Okay. He is a famous movie actor. Okay. Um, he's saying I would like to fight this person. I'd like to fight this person for Savage.
And right when they start with the F of the fight, they beep it. And so he does that little. And I like to him and beep him and beep him.
Yeah. Yeah. Like F. Okay. Yeah. So he's making it sound like he's saying he would love to use a different word that starts with F. But here's the problem.
That is a total rip off of Jimmy Kimmel. Every Thursday night, if you watch his show, he does this this week in a necessary sense ring.
We'll take politicians and they'll beep out a certain word. So it sounds like they're saying, okay, you did that a bobbin talent.
It's an F with everything that was sent to me street for goodness sakes. But to make the point of the using the F word in times. And it was a total rip off of that.
Now the film itself with the cutouts that the scenes that they did cut out in the wording. It makes the film worse. The PG 13, the PG 13 does not work.
The continuity does not work. The flow does not work. There's a lot of comedy that's brought out. That's that's not in there.
It makes the film a lot worse. And then the invisible person, they even bring up that part when the after rate he gets electrocuted.
Oh, you had that person in, you know, because I'm still cute. That's why I'm afraid. I still keep that spoiler free. You know, how'd you get him in there? Then that's where they go to the other famous celebrity.
Okay. Okay. And then that beep sound of the unnecessary censoring in from Jimmy Kimmel rip off.
But PG 13 doesn't work. The flow doesn't work. This film doesn't work. So you don't think that Deadpool could exist in a PG 13 role.
Not to be true Deadpool. Not to make it. Yeah, it's funny to watch if you haven't seen the original. But if you see in the original, this is a total let down.
And this is just Deadpool 2. Let's be real. Yeah. Yeah. Because even on our show, we had some questions. There was reason. There was rumors that they were going to do an hour of each film.
So it's all Deadpool 2. Yeah, it sells the whole thing from the beginning to the end of a big battle scene at the school at the end. And then they even do the credit things.
But they don't. There is a tag at the end and what really I wish that with Fred Savage was saying he'd like to fight this person.
I think in the tag at the end, it would have been a hit if that person would have showed up and just hit Fred Savage. You know what I'm saying? But it's just.
There's not a off to it. No, there's not pay off at the very end end and tag. But now is this a new tag that's on the end of it? Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. Yeah. It's from the from the this. They're leaving the set is on sand from the princess bride. That's okay. Being spoiler free. But good.
Here's the thing. Watching this. I'd rather watch Deadpool 2. The original watch this again.
Into the fans out there. I don't think it works. I like what they're trying to do. I think it's great that's trying to do.
And I'm going to say this respectfully in some people just be aware that yes, it says what's upon a Deadpool that this is Deadpool 2. I'm trying to get the total word out so everybody's aware.
Respectfully. Some people may not think it's a Christmas movie like the Shrek thing or something like that. It's not. It's Deadpool 2.
And I wish maybe they would have named it like the Deadpool Christmas story or something. Deadpool 2. I wish they would have instead of once upon a Deadpool.
I think I wish they would have just gave us something out. That's just me personally. But that's the weird thing. I don't think they hid that. I mean, they put it out there from front street.
Yeah, but not everybody keeps up on everything and not every movie going in the world is going to know that. That's the issue I have with it.
So, you know, that's just to be fair because there's some people are going to go into this thinking, hey, it might be like the Shrek Christmas story that they do that the Shrek has done.
And it's Deadpool 2. Some people may be disappointed. Some people may not keep up on all the Marvel stuff or know that what this is about. They think, oh, Deadpool, let's go.
So, I mean, just to be fair on that point, the Warner Empire, that if you don't know the story, yes, this is Deadpool 2 and a PG-13 thing, to be fair.
So, Chad, you're going to kind of quiet over there, any thoughts?
I'm still intrigued by it because I just want to see, to me, it's kind of like the way they're having to approach this was what made me like South Park in its early days of pushing the envelope to the edge of the table but not knocking it off.
And just seeing what they can get away with by just skirting the edge of it.
To me, I think it would be kind of, it would just be funny to see how far they push it without pushing it over.
Okay. So, any other questions you have before we get to this thing?
Do the final analysis?
Well, my one thing is, I don't think that 15 minutes of savage makes up for them taking away what they did out of the film.
Okay. That's my personally.
Okay.
I don't know if it's worth that, yes, it's funny, yes, there's some funny parts but some things get runnin' and I don't know if it's worth the price just to see that talk between Deadpool and Prince Savage.
Okay, like I said, you just rather go and watch Deadpool 2 again.
So, if this was the only version of it that you had known, you may not have had the same issue.
Oh, no.
Okay, no. That's fair.
Okay. Not at all.
All right, you guys ready to get to the final analysis?
Moving to the final analysis on the show, we're not gonna give you thumbs up, thumbs down.
We're not gonna give you letter grades, numbers, chimichang goes, anything like that.
I'm gonna ask Donald the two questions. Question number one is, would he see this film again?
If the answer's no, then we're done here.
But if the answer's yes, then the follow-up question's gonna be, how far is he willing to go to do so?
From the best of the best of the worst of the best, here's how it goes.
Full price of the theater, down to a twilight showing, down to a matinee, down to early morning on a weekend, down to the first second run of the dollar theater, down to him leaving the house together.
Down to him leaving the house to get it from Redbrox, down to him streaming, down to him watching it on cable.
Done.
Yes, sir.
Would you see Deadpool, once upon a Deadpool again?
Yes.
How far are you willing to go to do it?
Crickets.
Yeah, I've watched Deadpool 2 very original over this.
I just don't think.
It is once upon a Deadpool.
For this whole thing.
Yes, I've got think Josh and her best friends.
