Greetings Empire members and or members or members or things of gathering of people or
not there in acting if you're hearing the sound of my voice it means you are very
valued because at least once in your life you've checked out the clubhouse podcast live
every Sunday night seven Eastern four Pacific on the vocal now one network the okay
a l now make sure you bookmark the website download the app was in all the great shows on the
vocal now network of which we are one because it's time for another
harm share number 469 you believe we've done that many of these things approaching a milestone
welcome my name is Rob on the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast and when I saw this
invite I said no no no and you'll find out why here in just a minute join me because the guy
that's with me is the most important person because he's the one that saw this film he is the
official fact checker of sooner or gator productions and a guy that's got a little bit more of a
constitution than I do you may know him as iqbunu but his mom and even don't for him I call him don't
for it hey brother then we do the Beatles thing earlier constitution that's revolution okay I was off
I quit oh dear and that will air after this episode so you got that going for you
whenever we do one of these it is to review something and this is no exception
re aster is a guy that don's got opinions about and his latest movie is called mid-summer
for we start this whole thing yes sir we got to thank Brad and everybody at funds PR for the invite
hey we love our vendors they let us see movies before they come out so we can talk to you guys
about them and you can make the best possible decision on your entertainment dollar
so I am just going to read the mdib okay so that way we could just move this thing right along
a couple travels to Sweden to visit a rural hometown's fabled mid-summer festival
what it begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre
competition uh-huh all i'm willing to say yeah so you mentioned something interesting in your
written review currently located at www dot the clubhousepodcast.com that's our website
this director you you kind of got some issues with uh because this is a guy that directed
another movie that you saw right around the same time last year a little bit earlier a couple
months earlier yeah that you did not like and you were kind of in the minority of called hereditary
uh-huh so you mentioned in your written review currently located at www dot the clubhousepodcast.com
again that's our website that you you did your best uh-huh to kind of put that bias to the side yeah
this is two hours and 20 minutes long i was gonna do that but i'll do that later
all right what i saw was a horror movie at two hours and 20 minutes and i said
so god bless you sir for taking one for the team on this because there was no way i was going
that dog was not gonna hunt it's that simple i'm just checking some because heredity that was
two hours and seven yeah that was two hours and seven minutes so this was about the same length a little
bit longer oh man yeah all right so let me do my little thing okay you know sometimes you put
a little lead into a story to make a point i i tried to yeah let me do my little thing on this
i was a lot of times tried to know just a tad about a film before we go in sometimes no nothing
about it okay fair enough okay and so i saw the little mdib thing and saw that you know there's a lot
of PR for it there's a lot of talk and i'm in the theater and we're not press theater eight at the
angelica which we love okay no theater eight yep and it's only pressed into plus one that's it
and we're sitting in in the front row me in the fantastic faith in the front row front row
no well on that on the rail on the rail okay i was like wow you were close but now i like this
if there yeah yeah put the feet out and stuff like that don't got anybody in front of you yeah
yeah exactly okay nice and so i'm talking to other press people there's a coming in and then
all of a sudden somebody says something like oh yeah this guy who did hereditary and then don went
oh boy so you didn't realize that going into this because you did not like that
that's good oh dear you did not like that film any way shape or form no i did not it made it
it got a turkey last year um and i was just like i if it if we're going to see a turn smalic
i'll still go if we go because we do it for the kids we do it for the empire but i can be prepared
i can be prepared that's what i wasn't like try to it's like an improv to match in a wwe i'm like oh
dear oh dear oh no and so the next two hours and 20 minutes of your life was this so here's
my thing to hereditary where it's the same kind of genre correct it is just like in red Terry
it moves at a snail's pace the first hour was boring in both films
just like in both films they could have cut out a half hour of the first hour and still made the point
the point of she has a tragic chick accident where her family passes um turn to boyfriends
her kind on the rocks but then he says let's take her to Sweden with this trip she's going to
he's going to take what this friends does he was taking a guy's trip yeah two were doing it for
a thesis you know for this you know cultural event which is fine she ends up going along
when i told you so far took 30 minutes 30 minutes easy easy i got headphones on here i'm trying to
yell no you go to the side to the sides easier okay then you're up here you're still talking to the
mic it's okay it's picking up your throat so the action doesn't start for at least an hour
it's just like in both films it took an hour to get to the big point then when it keeps going
remember on hereditary review where i made the point of why did it have a bunch of buck naked people
standing all around outside like we made the point about the pure buck nakedness uh-huh uh-huh
it's in this film again too we have to have that part the paint look the pointless buck nakedness
of a bunch of buck naked people standing in order clear he he wrote both of these films
I I can see that that's it's like oh there's the buck nakedness again that we don't need
great um i think you're just going to term buck nakedness okay so not only do you have these
weird characters of the motman because he has a mop in front of his head the whole time
you know what's the parry saturday no okay close enough maybe they took it after parry i don't know
haha or then where they have the guy doing the impersonation of clan of the cave bear or
that in the Leonardo caprio where the revenant they're revenant where let's where some bear costume
for the weirdness of it um this one had some brutal scenes and they made to point to make it
as brutal as possible make sure you saw the brutality to an over so it was too graphic is what
you're saying and they they exploited the graphing they make the point we want to see you house
if something happens to human body that's all i'm going to say
there's a ways to show from a distance just to make the point or make a quick rinse versus let's
just pan up and show it no no no no no this thing reminding me of the disgustingness of the faces of
death but the only difference is is that they try to make this artsy and which i put my
review again at www dot the clubhouse podcast dot com that's still our website if they had some kind
of event or festival that was ran by the people and deliverance the only difference is that these
people were dressed differently so i'm looking at the imdib trivia and one of them says it's
described as the wizard of os for perverts oh i like that that's what it says and some of the
critics when we're leaving we're saying you know what state straight to netflix and i said don't
unfold don't do not insult that looks like that i'm giving you that one yeah i'm giving you that one
yeah you make me laugh i'm going to give you that yeah i said don't insult netflix like that
and he goes i like that i'll put that in there you know so it's like you know you don't go ahead
use it so this was okay bad they're they're put this way the this is a mostly critic film okay at
the screening mostly critics right mm-hmm during the big climax we're supposed to get all
funky and scary they were laughing oh dear laughing there you go thank you thank you thank you laughing
i did something i've never done ever while screening a film because it got just so stupidly
pathetic in disgusting where i literally took my hand put it on that rail and started banging my
head against the rail while the critics were laughing oh dear yeah oh dear i just like no
just just end this thing oh dear and about the disgustingness there's i don't know if we want to say
it but there's references to incest there's cannibalism in this strong sexual situations the
buck nakedness like i talked about earlier and there were things where they're eating
and making drinks of the remnants of if you had a bikini wax done
yeah yeah no no no no thank you and some other stuff i don't even want to try because we
are family friendly show it was that disgusting there i will not even know i i can't even try to say
you didn't no i can't i would love to but i won't because it's not disgusting and i don't
even want to do so i haven't had dinner yet i don't know yeah yeah it is that bad where it's like
are you kidding me it's how disgusting can this thing be i and the thing is when they're having this
situation where they're trying to do a consummation to have the next person start the thing of life
for whatever okay the there are people standing around watching it because the guys like
high on a drink make it a psychedelic mushrooms and that bikini wax byproduct and they're all
watching they'll go into the chanting going ooh ooh ooh ooh the motherly he comes up
holds his hands and starts going oh starts singing him while they're doing that act just what
was a point what was the point of it what was the point i don't know how about you know yeah and
i i was just this film i literally almost walked out on it wow i almost wanted the
bread to say hey i'm sorry but it's this this is just a no go i i i did all i could just stay
into that thing i thought you made it longer than i would have i can take it that i would watch
hereditary five times before i'd watch this thing again wow that's me do we need to get to the
final analysis i mean we we need to because it's our tradition yes we have to all right here's
that's gonna work no thumbs up thumbs down no letter grades no uh nature trails nothing like that
i'm only gonna ask them one question because we're not gonna get to the second question but if we
did get to the second the question the first question is what do you see it again if we got to
the second question here's the rankings from best to the best to the worst to the best full price
in a theater down to two uh twilight down to a matinee showing down to early morning on a weekend
down to a second run at the dollar theater down to leaving the house to get the physical media
down to streaming down the cable they done yeah would you see midsummer again uh never
and this is what i put in my you know kind of the what i put in my written review at www at the
clubhouse dot podcast dot com that does remain our website in some weird form yeah i definitely
will never watch this film ever again in fact i promise this film will metal you'd either get
the bronze the silver or the more likely the gold turkey in my worst films of the year and i
in good consciousness cannot rectify that men this film in any way to any person for any reason
how many times you ever heard me sprites something like that about a film uh in the
not many if something like that not even a hamper yeah this this will make my top 10 year of the
worst of the year and we'll probably get one of the turkeys and i mean even the suspension of
disbelief or it's like hey you know what our friends missing well he's been gone for two days
oh drink this drink sure i'll drink it hey nothing seems wrong you know it's just
the i think he tried to push the envelope and did something like face as a death and just
tried to call artsy and make it artsy oh dear yeah it was that disgusting i will never watch this
again i cannot recommend it as much as we love our vendors and with ill Brad it's not his fault
but he wants our honesty i can no that's what we love about our
we'll not i cannot recommend this film for any reason to any person unless you have some
incredible mental instability i mean our vendors want our honest opinions that's why we love
our vendors so you know we're not going to blow smoke it's not what we do on this show
you know i even told Brad when i left the screening i go i'm going to rip this thing and he
gave me that you know he i want your honesty you know right we'll leave it at that
it's mid-summer again we got thick bread at ponds pr or such a fans hey we're such fans of those
guys yeah we love our vendors and part of the reason we love our vendors is because they ask for
our honest opinions on stuff so we're not gonna pull punches it's what we do
all right anything else before we get to this thing no let's get this over with all right
