Welcome. My name is Rob and it's very well documented on this show that I was a DJ for over 21
years and apparently you never stop doing that. So I'm very interested about what we're about to
talk about, because every time we do one of these, let's review something and this is no exception
because it's time for another home show. Number 476 for those of you playing the home game,
but I'm not alone. So my left in the co-host here is a lady of the house and the only person
this is you that's seen the movie we're fixing to talk about. So her opinion is the most important
in this one. She is General, welcome friend. Hello everyone and thank you for joining us again.
Rounding out the day, this is the official fact checker of this sooner or gator productions
and this show too. And whenever he hears, remember my name for some reason he starts singing
fame and I don't, I mean I guess I get it, but still. You may know him as Igboonu, but his
mom and name I'm Don Ford, I'm gonna call him Don Ford. Hey brother, fame, I'm gonna be forever.
You asked for it. I'm gonna learn how to fly. Hi, where's my stick to pounds?
Gone, the gone. It is documentary film that we're talking about in this particular home show
because it's time to talk about David Crosby. Remember my name for some of this whole thing.
Yes, we got things, Josh and our best friends. And I did a great remark giving.
We love our vendors. They let us see movies in advance so we can talk to you guys about them
and you can make the best possible choices for your entertainment dollar. So I don't know that we
need to do a lot of setup here. David Crosby. Crosby still is Nash and Young and Crosby still is
in young left. The birds, you've got his solo stuff, you've got the collaborations he's done with
other people. It's about his life. It's a documentary. General has seen it. What do you think friend?
I enjoyed it. I really enjoyed it. There are some amazing scenes shot like he's near where he
currently lives and it's done by a drone or a helicopter or who knows, but they're sky shots
and it's just gorgeous and I want to move there now. One of the cool things of course with this is
during the time when Crosby was in the music industry up and coming, getting his start with
the birds. They were friends with the Beatles and so there's actually a clip from an interview
where they're asking the Beatles, hey, who's the guy with the long hair behind you and it's David
Crosby in the background. And at any point does he say, don't hassle me, man.
Now, I don't, well, he may have. I don't recall that specifically, but you know,
it's also during a time when people were taking their own moving pictures and lots and lots
of still photography. That could hold movies or a thing. Yeah. I mean, it was on film. It wasn't
digital. It was actually, you know, with you can see the little box bars on the side from how
they were playing it through, but it was so neat to have this footage from the different times
in the different periods. You've got to see what the people were really like, what the clothing
was like, the environment they were in. There were shots that covered Woodstock because that was
only the second public performance of Crosby stills a Nash. Is that was that with Younger without?
That was prior to Young. Okay. So there was no Neil Young at that point. There was that was prior
to Young. So nobody singing like this with them. Oh, no, there was later, but, you know, that was
Neil Young. But Cameron Crowe looks like he's he's the interviewer. He's the interviewer.
Very big fan of him. And it was also neat because they took Crosby to different places from his past
and told stories about what happened there. They talk about Mama Cass. They talk about the
different loves of his life. There's some alluding to some of his children and some not even touched
for whatever you know about his children and who all he's loaned DNA to allegedly.
IMDB states that I'm just saying allegedly. IMDB states that there are those two women's kids are
hits. And he publicly can be admitted that. That's not he said. I mean, there's no debate. He said
he's the father of that kind of thing. And Cameron Crowe, although he was the interviewer,
was not the director. He was a first time director in AJ Eaton. You know, Jackson Brown. I'm also
seeing Liz hit him. Big fan him as well. Well, there's several of the people he worked with
over the years and different little cameos. But it really was fascinating to see
he's a bit of a conspiracy theorist. Didn't surprise him. And there are some mentions like one of his
last show with the birds was around the time of the JFK shooting and he sprouted off at the concert
and that didn't go over well with the rest of the band. Well, and this is also the 50th anniversary
summer of Woodstock. So this being released now is kind of kind of ties to it. There's a little
more poignant his birthday is on the 14th as in as in the week after this releases. So it's almost
his birthday when this film is being released. You know, his health is not great. He fully admits
he doesn't understand why it's about to be 78 if I'm not mistaken. He said in your written review

Impressive. Yes. He he will be 78. His health is not great. He's had heart attacks. He's had a
liver transplant. You know, friends with Larry Hagman who had a liver transplant. Diabetic.
So his health isn't great, but he still has amazing pipes. He can still sing. And he's still
touring because he loves it so much. He wants to be home with Jan, his wife of many years.
They married in the 80s after he got out of Huntsville for his nice little stent there for
chemical issues. But he wants to be on the road too. So he's kind of torn, but he's not looking
at retirement. He's still going for everything he can. He owns up to his choices. He owns up that,
you know, there were issues he caused that his anger got the best of him. So he's he's owning
himself in all of this. I think he'd probably like to make amends with, you know, stills Nash Young,
you know, their families all of that. But I don't know that it'll happen. There are not too much time
may have passed. Okay. But no one was made to look like a bad person or a villain or a it wasn't
really negative toward anyone. It was very positive about everyone else that had been in his life.
They also talked about the Kent University shooting and how that inspired the song that came out
like two days later. But it was really fascinating to see that time in the world,
where things were with music and everything. And to have that live
done in time footage, it's not a reenactment. It really happened. It was quite impressive.
Our 35s is about normal. I'd document her like, do you feel like you learned a lot from this
or did you know a lot going in? What was your knowledge of what going in versus coming out of it?
I knew the music. I actually have some 45s from the birds. Nice.
Nice for radio play. Nice. So they weren't even for purchase. They were for they were my mom's.
They were promo use only. Yes. They used to call us. And they were my moms or her moms. I don't
know. It came from grandma's house. So I had some of that. And so I knew some of the music. But
that history, of course, because I was born in 74. So some of this stuff was happening when I was
a child and everything. So it was neat to learn some of the background on all of that.
All right. Don, any questions from you? Was this like a documentary where they set him down
in the interview? And it's just one interview? Was it multiple interviews? Or how did they kind
of do that? Or was it just fallen around with the camera? Or what was the style of the documentary
with David Crosby? It was a culmination of things. Okay. There was some sitting down interviewing.
There was going and seeing some sites. Then there were even some points where they were playing
footage of film that he was on and he was talking over. And they even had some moments where there's
two stories. He tells tells and there's like a animation that was done to to play along with it.
In my other quote, what was the most interesting thing you learned about him from watching this?
About him or from watching the movie? About him from the thing that most interesting thing you
learned about him from watching this film? I mean, he himself is an interesting person.
I think what got me the most was that he owns himself. There is no blame on anyone else.
Yes, I did this. I don't totally regret it. But I am who I am and he owned himself. And I think
that impressed me. That's cool. All right. Anything else to do with the file analysis? No.
All right. We do the file analysis on the show. We're not going to give you thumbs up, thumbs down,
letter grades, numbers, p-signs, whatever. Nope. Two questions for Jen Rome. Question number one is
would she see this film again? If the answer is no, then we're done here. But the answer is yes.
The follow-up question is how far is she willing to go to do so? From the best of the best of the
worst of the best, here's how we roll. Full price of the theater down to a twilight showing,
down to a matinee showing, down to early morning on a weekend, down to seeing it in second run,
down to going and renting it somewhere, down to streaming it on your favorite streaming service,

For a first viewing, I say go to the theater and check it out there for second or multiple
after some way to see it at home, whether it's renting it from a red box or watching it on cable.
So for a first showing though, which kind of in the theater would you see it? Probably matinee

full-blown film he's done. It is called David Crosby. Remember my name? For a way this whole thing?
