It is 1:00 on the east coast. It is 10 o'clock in the morning on the west coast. It is the 13th of February. In the year of our Lord 2021, season 11, episode 23, 556 times, this face and/or this voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse podcast. Normally live Sunday nights at 7 Eastern, 4 Pacific, your one-stop shop for all things pop culture, but we have back-to-back pay-per-view weekends. So, we do this show on Saturdays. We will be back to abnormal in two weeks, at least for a couple of weeks. Welcome.

Normally we're at Vocal Studios in North Dallas, Texas. But when we do Saturday shows, we are remote. And if you know anything about what's going on in the Dallas Fort Worth area, you also know why we're remote. And we probably will be tomorrow for the Chief Podcast. My name is Rob. I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse podcast. And uh been a long time since we saw low temperatures in single digits, much less high temperatures under 20. So, let's go around the horn. I'm going right down the order on my screen right now.

Right below me is my co-host and a man who I haven't been in the same room with for almost two weeks, which is probably the longest period of time like that since I've known him. He is Alex. Hey, man. That is a weird thought and completely threw me off the rails, but I was thinking there was a football game that happened this past weekend. So, there's a lot of papers we might want to go through. >> We're going to be talking about it for sure. But now, that just literally just hit me as I was doing your introduction.

I didn't even have that planned, which is pretty much on par for most of this show. Also, Jen Ro out on assignment today, but joining us also is the official fact checker of Sooner Gator Productions and a man that we were just talking in pre-show about the last time this happened in Dallas Fort Worth. He was at the Super Bowl. You may know him as Bon Dong Go, but his mama named him Don Fordu, but I'm going to call him Don Ford. Hey, brother. >> Hey, everybody. What's up? This reminds me of back home.

In fact, this is scary where in a couple days on Tuesday, they're talking that it will be warmer in Billings, Montana than it'll be here. >> Good mercy. >> That's scary. >> Well, you know what this makes up for? That since you didn't get to go home for Christmas, this is making us >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> Why? >> I know the feeling, brother, and I feel your pain. Let us dive right in. We're going to start with sports and the biggest headline of the last couple of days and one of the very few times that I knew something in football before Alex did which is why when we talked yesterday via IM I just casually mentioned only thing I've heard is about JJ Watt and then the return message saying what are you talking about?

I had to sit there and go is this a bit? Because that doesn't happen when it comes to the NFL. JJ Watt asked the Houston Texans and in a video message that looks like it was done at a Texas Roadhouse, I think, where I think he was wearing a plain white hat on purpose to let them know he has asked for and been granted his release by the Houston Texans. Alex and I talking about this yesterday and the question became, would you want him on your team? from my my answer to that is from a human standpoint, absolutely.

This man is one of the why he doesn't win the Walter Payeyton man of the year award every year is beyond me. He is a quality human. He is a great guy. Comes from a great family who does great subway commercials. But from a player standpoint, I have questions. He is injuryprone. What how many years has he been in the league now, Alex? It's got to be He's got to be double digits by now. Uh, he's technically played nine seasons, but he's been in the league for 10. 101 sacks for the Houston Texans. That's a franchise record.

I just don't know. I mean, I am hearing rumors that Tampa Bay is a potential landing point. Cowboy fans, don't worry about it. He wants out of the state, but to go from Texas to Florida where you still don't have state income tax, there is that. Don, do you have any thoughts on this? >> He's one of the great I'll say it right now. He's one great active players, but yeah, it's kind of is it too little, too late? >> As a Steeler fan, would you want him as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense?

>> Oh, yes, I would. But the question is, what would we have to give to get him? >> You wouldn't have to give anything. He's a free agent, Don. >> I know, but and how much towards the salary cap and all that? And like you're saying, is he injuryprone? What kind of deal could you make with him and stuff like that? If we could get a good enough deal, oh yeah, in a heartbeat, I'd like to have him, >> Alex. >> Well, yeah. And Pittsburgh's salary cap is a little bit upside down right now, especially when you think about how much money is going to be coming off the books.

Um, they're definitely not resigning Guju. It's just not going to happen. But you have to also realize >> said he's willing to restructure his contract to free up some space. >> I'm sorry. >> Hasn't Rothber. >> Oh, that'll kill Faith. She will die. She loves >> No, what I'm saying though is I believe Rothllessberger has >> multiple players have said that they will restructure. Rothosberger being one of them because I think he's due $42 million next year. >> I got that. >> But the thing is is JJ Watt at this point has literally said the words, "I don't need money.

I want to win." And he it's like, "Name the number of Watt brothers that don't play for Pittsburgh." That's one out of four at this point or three um that don't play for Pittsburgh. So there is the familial tie. The only one after that you have is actually Green Bay because they're all from Wisconsin. So you have that connection as well. I'm sorry. >> Don't general. That's my Green Bay accent. >> Now, one of the interesting sleeper teams that has been brought up is the New England Patriots. And the words that I have to reiterate are he said he wanted to win.

Didn't go so well this year. >> That was a discussion I had with somebody just yesterday. I was like it's not, you know, this is not a shot, but you want to argue Bellich versus Brady. What did they do this year? You had a you had a quarterback that was at least above average. I wouldn't put Cam Newton in the upper echelon of current quarterbacks, but he's at least in that upper hat. >> I disagree with that. I have disagreed with that for years. >> Again, >> I wouldn't say he's stellar, but he's serviceable.

>> I wouldn't even call him serviceable at this >> and they had him for a million dollars. >> Well, yeah. which is weird to say like I made a million dollars last year. I didn't make a million dollar last year. >> But the problem is is that Bellich system has always been dependent on accuracy. And the one thing Cam Newton has never had is accuracy. So he was a terrible fit. >> What it showed was it wasn't necessarily Bellichic. And it's hard. I can't make the argument against Brady after what I saw this year.

And it hurts my soul to say that about somebody synonymous with the New England Patriots. But I can't argue. >> I think what the what this year showed with Bellich is that with literally no Pro Bowl level players outside of Stefon Gilmore, they still won seven games. Half of their starting defense that led them to a Super Bowl title took the year off. I mean, you had nobody on offense. Your only reliable pass catcher was out the whole year hurt with Edelman gone and they still won seven games. I want to say pump the brakes on this whole Bellich Brady thing because yes, it showed that Brady knows is a very smart guy who knows which team to pick because it's still a team game.

>> And if you look at the fun stat for the last two Super Bowl titles for Brady, how many touchdowns did his defenses give up >> that I I don't have those numbers, >> right? But but we always say defense wins championships. >> But what I'm saying is is Brady made the right choice to go to a place like that. Now granted, he was happier because he didn't have, you know, Emperor Palpatine head coach Bill Bich over his shoulder, but at the same time, Bellich led a crap team to seven wins with no good players.

But again, the key to everything is depth, >> right? How they got to seven bench as well. >> You don't have depth in your bench, it doesn't help you. But I still believe that I cannot make the argument against Brady like you. No, you can't now more titles than any franchise in the in the NFL. And I'm sure Don's fellow fan base has their butts burned by that right now because they've been trying to hit that seven >> for a while and all of a sudden here's Brady. Here's seven. And it's just it's it's hard.

>> Well, that's with another team. I mean, it's not, you know, yeah, we've been trying to get seven. Yeah, he got seven, but you know what's one with another team? Still the guy has seven but in 20 years you know and how many did he lose? >> So let's talk about that. >> Three. >> Yeah. So I mean that's >> I mean how many players can say they're seven and three in Super Bowl. >> No. No. That was >> like that's insane. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And that's the only argument that the Montana backers have is that oh Joe Montana never lost a Super Bowl.

It's like yeah but they literally traded him and got better with Steve Young. Now granted for 30 I'm waiting on >> that's a 30 for I want the Montana uh Steve Young story >> because I've read I mean I've read the books but I want to see that as a 30 for30. Speaking of 30 for30s >> I don't know if you guys watch the Al Davis versus the NFL one that aired a couple of weeks ago. >> Honestly I didn't watch it because I know that story so well and I love it. >> The Well, give me give me a scoop on that.

What are you talking about Al Davis versus the NFL? What do you mean? Oh, Al Davis and uh >> Oh, he doesn't know. >> Don, you need to go watch the 3430 because I don't want to ruin this for you. But >> allow me to say that the >> Well, just go ahead. I mean, go ahead. >> The reason that Al Davis owned the Raiders is my favorite NFL story ever. >> But what I'll tell you, Don, is the one thing you have to prepare yourself for, and it took me a while to deal with this. They did this bit where Don, do you know what deep fake is?

>> Oh, no. where they try to throw the ball like they're going to go deep and f the technology. No, he's well played. That's a fair assessment. >> Okay. >> But the cont No, no, no. No, you're good. >> But from a technology standpoint, you know how you see those those clips online of people who put their faces like on Captain America and all that. >> Yeah. >> That's called deep fake technology. >> Okay. >> And they did that with two actors where they put Al Davis and Pete Rosel. Was it Pete Rosselle?

Am I getting that right? Yes. >> Their faces on actors. >> And in the beginning, it's really weird. >> By the end of it, you're kind of used to it, but I still didn't dig it because it wasn't even their voices either. They had people impersonating their voices. >> But mo I would say 85% of it is actual interview footage. So, it's not as bad as it could have been, but it's a really interesting story. And Don, I would I would say if you can get a hold of it on your cable or maybe watch it on demand.

I don't want to ruin the story for you. I want you to see this because it's a fascinating story about the rise and fall and rise of a of a friend. These guys were frenemies before there was a word for it. >> Okay. >> And it's I I wouldn't put it in my Mount Rushmore of 30 for30s, but it's I would put it probably top 25% because I've watched them all. I've watched every 30 for30 that's ever been made. >> The very first one I ever watched was the one on Jimmy the Greek. Yeah. And the one that you'll have with that one, Don, in just before the the sneak peek is how an entire two entire leagues screwed over Al Davis and how they had to plate him.

>> Yeah. >> One man, two leagues. He took him on >> because if you remember, they the the Raiders were actually part of the AFL >> before the merger >> and and Al Davis was their head coach. >> Yeah. Going through the whole bit. I mean, it's a really interesting story to watch. Uh, I still, as much as I am not an Al Davis fan, the that flame they have for him at that stadium is awesome. >> I gotta tell you, when that thing lights up at night, it's amazing. >> Oh, you got to be able to see it from Reno.

>> Uh, actually, it's more subtle than that. >> Well, let's let's kind of transition into that. We've kind of talked about the Super Bowl a little bit, so let's get into it. Um, Alex, I kind of want to bury the lead with your experience first. I like to talk about the game itself and the normal stuff we talk about then get into your experience. We've got a run sheet, but this might take up the whole time. I don't know. I'm I'm running fast and loose today. >> Uh commercials were kind of subpar this year because we knew Bud Light, although the Budlight Avengers Endgame tribute was a little kind of funny.

I enjoyed that very much. Uh the M&M's commercial I very much enjoyed. I'm sorry I called you Karen. My name my name's actually Karen. I'm sorry your name's Karen. That made me giggle for many many minutes. >> Still is. >> My favorite one I think actually did not air in the game. It was in the pregame and it was the Clydesales. I don't know if you saw this one, Alex. >> I did not. >> Don, do you know which one I'm talking about? >> Yeah, I know which one you're talking about. >> Okay. So, there's a series there's a there's a group of Clydesales and all I had a I had a few people over for a nicely socially distanced time.

Smoke some chicken wings. Don, I want you to try that next time. They came out amazing. And I'll I'll tell you how I did it off air. >> So, you take chicken wings and use my my pit boss and go for it next time. >> Well, there's there's certain steps you got to take to make it work, but I'll tell you how. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah, we'll talk. >> It was and they came out really well. >> Okay. >> Uh group of Clydesdale sitting there. We're all going, "Wait a minute. Budweiser said they weren't doing anything." And then uh closeup on the the joint that that gets the carriage to the Clydesales and a hand pulls the pin and the Clydesales just start running rampant all over the city square.

Move to the right of the carriage and it's your cousin from Boston. I lost my mind. I said, "Well done, Samuel Adams. I love that campaign to begin with." and it made me giggle like a school girl. So, uh, we did get a new trailer for Falcon and Winter Soldier that really didn't tell us a whole lot. The rumor is it is coming next month and we're going to talk more about that in movie talk if we get there. Uh, just and I think it's just because a lot of your heavy hitters just weren't spending the money this year.

I won't say that the commercials were terrible. They just weren't >> right. And a lot of the companies did the right thing or at least presented it the right way of like look we're not going to put money into this because we need to put this back into communities into our employees or even if it was a BS statement but that's the cynical side of me talking. >> What were the ratings on this? Because that's a big question >> for the game itself. >> Yeah. I mean the >> uh it was the worst since 2017.

I believe >> they're the worst since 2017. >> So it wasn't a great Super Bowl. So some people saying, "Hey, it's not going to have the numbers like before, so we should not have to spend that much." >> I don't think it had anything to do with the numbers potentially because this was potentially on paper a great matchup. I if you had told if you had offered me a billion to one that the Bucks would win by more than four touchdown or more than three touchdowns, there's no way I take that bet. I just don't because I'm like I I was of the firm opinion even up to kickoff.

I wasn't sure which way I wanted to go even at three points, much less 22. Uh I I I thought that going into it was a great matchup. I wouldn't have called it even I wasn't willing to call it church until the fourth quarter started. So I don't know if that played a role in my opinion, but I thought it was I mean the first three quarters it was a great game. Now, as a as a Bucks fan, of course, the whole green was great for me, and it was kind of a repeat of what they did in 03, but I it was just, you know, then you we get into the halftime show, which The Weekend put in 6 million or 7 million of his own money into it.

Um, as I said on social media, I was very humored by the number of people that weren't forcing autocorrect to spell his name right. And even people on my post were spelling it wrong. Uh, it's without the second E, kids. >> So, was that pre-taped? I don't think that was locked. >> No, that was locked. >> There was a small part of it that was pre-tapicked. That's what I'm talking about be because they did they did pre-tape part of the halftime show during the Thanksgiving game because it showed like the fireworks going off outside and it was pitch dark but it was still there.

>> No, no, that was live. The only part that was pre-taped was the inside the room >> set up the microwave shot. >> Yeah, cuz they had to pretape some of that of the Thanksgiving show. And as my question, did they do that here also? >> They did not. But I think the the the biggest problem that would have solved a lot of people's issues with that halftime show if you don't know the the URA as they say of the weekend that you wouldn't you didn't understand what he was doing. Now I'm not a I'm not a uh a weakened stan as they say but I understood because I follow pop culture to an extent.

I knew where that was going. But I think a lot of people didn't understand that there was a story that goes with this album and he was trying to unfold that story, but he didn't explain it well enough to those that don't have at least a rudimentary understanding of what's going on. And I think that's where a lot of the problems with that show came from. Uh, I enjoyed it. I was really hoping he didn't play the song that was in all the commercials because I thought that would have been a nice sweet irony.

But I love I love that song. I love I Can't Feel My Face, which is he did during the microwave segment. That could be my favorite reference of the whole show is this is what food in my microwave looks like when I'm warming it up. >> No, my favorite one was where it had like the single cam of him bouncing around and it's every time Brady throws a touchdown looking for Tieran Matthew, >> but uh Showtime is doing a making of documentary for the halftime show that they'll be here. >> I thought it was great.

I really loved it. I I the more I learned the more I've grown to enjoy the weekend even more. So maybe I am on the precusp of standing as you would say. But I really appreciated how it used what they were told because I don't know if you saw this report but they were literally telling him like look because of co you can't have dancers, you can't have this, you can't have that. So part of him putting $7 million in was to create that stage where people could be socially distant and still perform >> and then using the whole field.

Well, and the fact that you didn't have the set on the field probably for the first time in at least my lifetime, I thought was interesting. Now, the the first few minutes of it, all I kept hearing in my head was MC Hammer's Prey because that's what it looked like. >> Mhm. >> Uh but I enjoyed it. I thought it was fun. You know, I'm not looking for my halftime show to to do anything but entertain me, and it entertained me. I like his music. I enjoy it. I think he's incredibly talented, but we also live in a culture where everybody has to complain about something.

>> Yeah. And for all the people that are like, "Well, I want something like Metallica or I want something like Pantara." I got words for you. You're not the target. Well, >> you're already watching the game. Nobody cares what you want. >> Well, and here's the other thing that people don't seem to understand. The weekend did not get a check for that. Your halftime performers do not get paid. So, all you like, he just did it for the money. The only money he's getting is probably he might have gotten a check from Pepsi maybe.

>> And that check may have been what he put into the show, >> right? So, go pound sand. Deal with it. You know, you at least got a game to watch if nothing else. >> Yeah. In in the words of Ron White, to borrow that phrase, >> if you have a thought like that, let it go. >> Yeah. Don, >> I'd still like to see Metallica. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Don't get me wrong. I'd like to see Metallica as well, but we're not the target audience. were already watching the game. They're only going to put people on the halftime show to draw in people that wouldn't already be watching the game.

So they don't point behind the Nickelodeon thing. >> Exactly. >> That was the whole purpose behind it, >> which cannot give them enough credit. That was a lot of fun. >> And they kind of did it a little bit with some of the plays during this game, which I thought was cool. I think we're we are on the edge of maybe there being a Nickelodeon Super Bowl next year, which I would really be interested to see the difference in. Now, now CBS had it, so you probably have to wait two more years. >> Wait, let let me give you a jump.

What if they did a Nickelodeon sports channel and they did it with a bunch of different sports that kids might be more interested in >> or some of the the fringe sports that like the deuce does or >> That's exactly where I was thinking was like the >> sport presents the axe throwing championships. Let's go. Let's go. >> World championship squirrel skiing. >> But Don, what did you think of the game itself? Alex and I have kind of weighed in on kind of interested in your your thoughts here. >> One, it was a blowout.

Let's be honest, it was a pure blowout. And my thing is, and I wanted to ask you guys on this, no one I don't think anybody saw this coming that it was going to be that one-sided of a game. My question to you guys is what happened? Why did they not even show up? >> Tampa Bay did what Tampa Bay does, number one, and it's defense. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Defense wins championships to keep Patrick Mahomes on the run like they did, like nobody's been able to do. Now, but let's be real for a minute.

Patrick Mahomes has one of the brightest futures ahead of him of just about anybody in the league. Do I believe Patrick Holmes could get to seven? I think it's possible, but only time's going to tell. But that team as it stands, I just don't know. After that game Thanksgiving weekend, I think they felt they knew the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Tyreek Hill goes for over 200 yards by himself. I know he was on my fantasy team, but they were they weren't prepared for what they saw. And Tampa Bay knew that, too.

Tampa Bay took they probably watched that game 147 times in the two weeks between those two games and figured out what they needed to do to get there. Now, I agree with you, Don, and I said this earlier in this show. I did not expect that score to go the way it did. >> I like I said, I was going back and forth to three, much less 2010. >> Okay. And I'll say this about Mahomes, though, and I think this makes kind of makes a point where some people say, "Oh, he's the media darling. This nice little story.

He's going to be the next upandcomer and all that. And yes, he has a Super Bowl. Yes, he is young. I'm the first to say that. Yes, he's going to have a good career, I think, barring injury. Okay. Like a Joel Thyman because the next play could always be the last play. That's the NFL. That is true. >> That's fair. That's a fair ass. >> But my thing is it kind of puts a shan on maybe put them put this guy in its place saying, "Hey, this guy's not Superman like you guys are saying he is. He just got his butt handed to him." And he got his butt handed to That's not on him.

>> That's not That is not on him at all. >> Not all on him. >> No, I'm saying that's not on him at all. >> I am willing to say it's not on him at all. >> Not everything on him, but part of it cuz >> absolutely none of it. I am not blaming him one bit because he had more drops or just about more drops than any Super Bowl quarterback has faced. And he okay I made a joke what was it 3 four weeks ago on this show that Tampa Bay is going to go after if if it is Tampa Bay or whoever faces them is going to go after him so hard he may run for 500 yards.

Do you know what the stat is on how many yards he covered? >> I do not. >> 497. I said something exagoratory in Jess and wound up off by three yards. >> But here's what happened. Go ahead. He was also playing with a third string offensive line against the best defensive line and he still had them in within a range that like you were saying Rob, you didn't give up on it and call it church until fourth quarter because of the ability that team has. So >> when you look at what they did the entire two 2020 playoffs, >> and I kept saying that to everybody in the room, y'all don't understand.

If you have him within three scores, and I'm by that I mean 17 points, you if he keeps you within 17 points, he is not out of it. This is what Patrick Mahomes does. But you're right, they But again, depth is wasn't was an issue. >> Well, it was ice on the offensive line and for some reason Kelsey and Hill dropping passes that they never dropped before. >> It to me, they didn't even look like they were in the game at all. like there wasn't the vibe that I saw in the AFC Championship where I said it after the AFC Championship.

This team acts like they've been there before and they're so comfortable it frightens me. >> But it just did not serve them well in this game. I believe and even Brady after the game walked up to Patrick Mahomes and says, "Don't worry, you're going to be back." >> And he's right. >> This this Kansas City Chiefs team is a great team and I think they're going to get some key players back this year. uh one of them out for what could have been the best of reasons. >> I believe Tardiff. >> Yes, sir. And God bless that man and I want him to win a Nobel Prize.

Don, I don't know if you know that story, but he is Canadian >> and he took this season off to go back to Canada as a doctor to help fight COVID >> because he was taking he was going to medical school in the off season while prepping. >> Oh, I heard something like that. Yeah. >> Yeah. But the other thing that was scary with that is there were times last season on the way to the Super Bowl, he was the one calling the line blocking or he was calling the blocking assignments. So they lost that going into this season as well.

>> So let's transition this into Alex's Great Adventure. Uh, we talked a couple of weeks on the show that Alex >> is our our Vegas guy and to find out for the first time in his life, he was going to be spending Super Bowl weekend in Vegas kind of blew a lot of our minds. Uh, but Alex, I'm going to hand it over to you and let's talk about your experience. Let's start. Kiss Miniolf. >> Kiss Miniolf was awesome. Uh, but I have to say, >> where was that, by the way? >> I'm sorry. >> Where was that? >> That was in the Rio.

Okay. So, when I go >> It was in right below the smash. >> He found a mini golf course that's kiss themed. >> At the Rio >> Rio. No, in Vegas at >> Okay. Oh, actually, you're on the show, right, Don? You're with me now. >> YEAH. YEAH. YEAH. YEAH. OKAY. >> OKAY. >> We were interrupting Candy Crush. >> No, actually, I'm not doing that. I just I heard Rio said he go to because you go to the Caribbean. You go all over the place. I don't Maybe he did go to Rio. I don't know. >> No, he was in Vegas, my friend.

Too small and frail for Brazil. >> Okay. >> But >> go ahead, Doc. >> Uh, excuse me, >> Alex. I said Doc. It's the same. >> Okay. No, I I'm very confused here in that. I got to say it was actually, and I don't know if it was COVID land. I'm going to have to go back in a corrected world again to see how it is. It kind of sucked. >> How so? It really kind of sucked because there was not many places doing the full deal that they normally do for like March Madness or which I will be back out there for um or for the first week of the season.

So there were select places which took all of the dgens with me and collided them into smaller areas and it got very uncomfortable >> really >> because social distancing was not happening. Oh dear. >> So, to be perfectly honest, I bailed. >> I went and I watched the game in my room because >> Were you at the Westgate? >> I was at the Westgate. Yes. >> Okay. >> Um, but if anybody wants to hit me up during March Madness, I will be at the Mirage. Anyways, uh, it was very weird because I love Drafts, which is the bar or excuse me, the the grill right behind the sports book where you can get >> at the Westgate.

>> At the Westgate, >> which is the largest sports book in the world. Correct. I want to say there's actually a larger sports book now, but it's somewhere out in like I somewhere third world >> for years. Especially when it was the Hilton, it was the largest in the world. >> And it's still massive with 4K cameras or 4K TVs. It's pretty pretty amazing. Uh but literally just seeing the walls of Prop Bets was just like, I'm in heaven. And then I look around and realize, oh, y'all wouldn't be here if that was true.

>> Yeah. And and Don, just just to give you some some perspective, Alex texted me the list of prop bets. That PDF was 32 pages long. >> What do you mean by prop bet? Like >> heads are tails. What color is the Gatorade bath? All the nonsports bet. Yeah, if you can look on your screen right now, that thickness is just pieces of paper of just the prop bets for the Super Bowl. >> Well, except how many did you bet on Alex? How many of those did you bet on? Like the coin toss and all that. >> We're going to get there.

>> Oh, if I can ballpark it real quick for him since he asked, please. >> Probably in the neighborhood of 40. 40 bet on, but really going in on about eight of them, including my two largest bets on the game, which happened to be exactly what I said I was going to bet on before I ever left. >> But heads or tails? I lost that bet. >> Okay. >> So, that means he bet Tails. >> Yeah. Tails never fails until this year. >> Although, but you want a fun one. >> What's that? >> Since they started doing the coin toss, it is now perfectly 50/50.

>> And did I miss it? Did they show the Gatorade bath? Because I never saw it. >> I never saw it either. >> Okay. I was making sure that I didn't miss it. >> There were there were sports books taking some very interesting bets on that because you always had the color of the liquid coming out of it. But then I saw some other ones that made me laugh because it was, okay, will it be two offensive players? Will it be two defensive players? Will it be an offense and a defensive player? Will there be a special teams player?

Will they both be special teams players? Will a coach be throwing the bath? And of course, there's the odds that line up with those. >> Well, and that to me was where I one of the things I think where CBS, no pun intended, dropped the ball is, you know, that's a bet. You know it's a prop bet. You have that camera on both coaches. So when you know what's going to happen, you can cut there quickly or show it on a replay. >> Well, I'm also I'm also wondering I never saw Aryans covered in anything. So I'm wondering if the NFL told them not to do it.

>> Well, I know in the championship games when they did it to Andy Reid, it was confetti in a box because it was so dog on cold. >> Yeah. >> But it's Tampa Bay, by the way. I did not see my public sign and I'm a little upset about that. I want to say that publicly. >> I saw it. >> I did not see it. >> It It was very quick. >> I like what they did. Interestingly enough, I saw it during the halftime show. Oh, >> okay. I did like what what they did with the sails on the pirate ship. That that looked pretty cool.

>> I very much enjoyed that. >> Uh I just uh Alex, but I don't think what and and correct me if I'm wrong here, but I really believe that even though you didn't have what you expected to be a time, I don't think that would deter you from trying again, would it? >> Absolutely not. No. Because the other part about it is I never have to step foot in the sports book again. I have everything on my phone like a proper DJ. So, I literally just have to be in the state of Nevada, which is part of the reason why I will not be betting at the Mirage, but I will be staying at the Mirage because I will be doing everything on my phone.

Technology got to love it. But it is something to because of certain contests that we will briefly discuss, you have to be there in person. Hi, Don. Uh, you have to be there in person to sign up for. So, between the super contest, a big game prop contest, I'm going to be checking out to see if they have anything going special for March Madness. Uh, basketball not being my strong suit because the NBA is garbage. Uh, but anytime they do have something along those lines, you have to be there in person to sign up.

>> Correct. So that would be the only time I'd really be in there outside of seeing people I've made friends with because I'm such a degenerate and I don't have to pay for food sometimes allegedly. Just realized I don't want to put that on air. >> Can I tell you my favorite sports joke of the week? >> How dad is it? And it's actually not. It's actually pretty genius. Frank Isola referred to the Miami Heat City uniforms as the gender reveal party uniform. >> Oh, that's so accurate. That's so accurate.

It sucks. >> I can't be mad at that cuz that's perfect cuz I'm trying to like them and I can't. So they what they do is they do a bam adabio flip and whichever lands upwards. >> Well, I like the uh I like the white and gold Mavericks. That is very very sharp. They were wearing those last night. I like those unis a lot. But these the Miami Vice Oh, they're bad. And I can't I just can't. It's bad. >> You know what? I give him credit for trying something. >> Yeah, there's that. All right, gentlemen.

Let's get into some pop culture stuff unless Alex and there's more you want to cover. >> I just want to say big cashes on Mahomes running for his life. So, but a great time no matter where you you were. We hope you had a great time. We had a great time over here at uh at Stately Urban Manor. And uh I want to thank everybody that stopped and swung by. Don, I know that you and Faith gave me a call that day, which I greatly appreciate. I hope you guys were hope you got that. >> We're just taking we're just we're just taking it easy, you know.

>> You should have got that pit, boss. That's all you need, brother. >> Yeah, but I I I need to get it using more, but right now, obviously, it's too cold. But >> Oh, that's the wrong answer. I was just out smoking and grilling pork chops three nights ago. So, you >> Okay. >> It's only as cold as you think it is. And And remember, grills create fire. Fire creates warmth. Then I got to say those pork chops I did, those are the ones my wife found at uh Costco. They were bone out and they were this this big around and this thick if they were anything.

>> And so >> those were the ones she brought in while I was there. >> Rock. Yeah, those ones rock. >> Alex, what? >> Those were the ones she brought in while I was there, right? >> Yes, sir. >> I want to say that was the last time we were in the same room. >> Uh, no. We've been at the job. We've been in the same room at least once. I haven't been at the job in two weeks. >> Oh, it's so fair. I don't know. I just work here. All right. CVS is rebooting True Lies. >> Oh, Nikes. Sorry, I lost you guys.

I've got wires that I keep tripping over over here. >> Yeah. No, don't need this. Don't need this. I'm alive. >> I have nothing on that. Nothing. Uh, the CW will be doing a liveaction Powerpuff Girls. >> But why? >> That one deserves crickets. >> And a reboot of the 4400. >> Got nothing. >> Actually, in that same vein, how did you feel about the Paramount Plus commercials during the Super Bowl? >> I I I like that campaign. They've been actually doing that for a couple of weeks. >> Oh, I know they have, but I'm saying the payoff.

But I'm very interested in um I'm interested in one particular possible and I'm going to use this term as a pun avalanche for Paramount Plus that I think is going to happen because I think they're about to hey Disney we see your Mulan and we raise you a Top Gun Maverick. I think that happens. >> That's a possibility. >> I think that happens. >> I just love the fact that even Steven Colbear finished part of that with like, "Sure, let's make it more weird. Push the button." >> Yeah. Uh, let's see. They are not moving forward with their Wonder Girl series on the CW.

>> I think we may have hit critical mass with DC television. I think there's also the aspect of a certain movie not doing nearly as well as they had hoped. >> Also possible, but I I don't get the CW on AT&T TV anyway, so it doesn't matter. HBO Max will unveil a new Tina Turner documentary next month. I am here for it. >> And she will show up twice in this week's show. So, keep a keep an eye on that. Alex, you looking >> I'm game for that. I'm I'm game for that. I think the Tina Turner totally. >> Oh, absolutely.

Alex, you had a a confused look on your face. >> No, that was a burp. >> Oh, fair enough. Uh, we, if you remember, Bella Ramsay from Game of Thrones. >> Yes, >> she will be playing Ellie in the Last of Us series for HBO with Pedro Pascal playing Joel. >> That was made official, I believe, yesterday. >> Yes. >> So, this is moving forward. And I don't know if you saw, we're going to talk about later. We have more information on another movie that you are concerned a little bit about, Alex. We're going to talk about that in movie talk.

>> Mhm. >> That someone you thought was going to be someone is not going to be that someone because >> I still think this is all red herring. >> So, we'll find out. >> I still think this is all red herring. >> Uh the John Cena Peacemaker series that will spin off from Suicide Squad, HBO has said, will be on HBO Max in January. So now we just have to get Suicide Squad released. >> So one Chainer is going to be on the Suicide Squad basically. >> That's your boy. >> Well, I I didn't know what's keep >> WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR ALMOST FOUR MONTHS.

>> I TRY TO KEEP off the Wina. I Yeah. Yeah. again. >> I think you need to get on the wand. >> Do you watch the show you're on when you're on it? >> I need therapy. >> No, no, we're way we're miles past that at this point. Dude, I just love this story of Well, James Gun approached me and he said, "Well, he's kind of Captain America if he was a douche." And I said, "I'm in." >> Because watch >> because he can. >> And don't forget tomorrow night, although also is NXT Takeover Vengeance Day. >> Boo.

>> But tomorrow night is also the return of John Oliver. >> Yay. >> If there is any justice in this world, that episode's going to be about three hours long. >> But the way he last with the 2020 blowing up, that was cool. >> No, that was cool. But think about how much has happened since he went on. Oh yeah. >> I mean, there's no way, like, like I said, unless that episode's about three hours long, there's no way he's going to be able to cover everything. >> Do you think they expand it out to an hour?

Perhaps >> it might. It It'll be a longer than normal episode. Uh, what I'm hoping is I'm I'd be okay with an hour because we all know that Takeover is going to be done by 8:30, so I'll have plenty of time till John Oliver airs. But there is that NBC. I'll say can I add can I add one thing that that one show that I love >> uh which is kind of in that I wouldn't say realm but in that ballpark of of John Oliver because he talks politics a lot is the show the circus on Showtime. >> I gave up after the last election because there was some instability behind the scenes on that show and it kind of ruined it for me.

No, I mean this one, but they spent they came back right after the right after January 6th and they >> Oh, did they? Right after. >> It is. It is. It Usually it's a half hour show. They put an hour on this one. >> Really? I'd have to go back to >> an hour on that because there was just too much to let it go. And I think that if HBO Mike could say, you know what, there we scheduled this repeat of this show or we could do John Oliver give him a third, you know, 45 minutes this time. I think they can adjust it if he wants to.

That's gonna be up to him. >> Oh, no. Yeah, they they'll do HBO. Do whatever it wants. >> Yeah. >> I'll just I haven't even looked on my Let me look on my app and see if they've got a run time on tomorrow night's episode. >> That's actually what I was looking up right now. >> Oh, are you? Okay, good. Then I don't have to. Perfect. >> It is listed as 31 minutes. >> Ah, so uh NBC Peacock, if you have that, >> here's the thing. If you remember the movie The Best Man that came out a few years ago. I think they actually did a Christmas sequel to it.

Peacock is doing a limited series based on that film with the original cast returning. >> Well, you got to appreciate when they can get the original cast back for something that is a stout cast. >> Well, if not, they could bring Rusev. If they can't get the entire cast, bring Rusev. He's the best man. No, >> I thought that was funny. >> I I'm I'm glad you felt that way, Don. >> I appreciate the attempt. It's just miserable. That there was a nonzero number of people that found that funny. >> Okay, >> take solace in that.

>> I will. >> Netflix is adapting a series of books called Red Wall. Uh I have seen it described as Lord of the Rings with cuter characters. So, it's like there's a mouse and stuff. It's a bunch of I It's It's for the kids with the clothes in the hair. It's very popular. Netflix is adapting it. >> They're also getting the first streaming rights to the next series of My Little Pony. So, if you are a brony or something of its ilk, you got that going for you, which is nice. And Chappelle's show is back on Netflix with Dave Chappelle's Blessing.

>> That's cuz they cut him a check. I'm sure they did, but I'm just saying I I I still respect that move. Oh, yeah. Because they didn't have to. They could have told him to go pound sand and they were like, "You know what? You don't want it there. We're cool." I respect the move. It's a baller move. And Alex, have you heard of something called Finding Ohana that allegedly has dropped on the Netflix? I have not, but I am intrigued by it because I know what those words mean. What if I told you it was a reimagining of The Goonies?

Um, not what I would expect exactly, but it does have um I just lost his name. The kid that played data is actually in it as an adult. He played short round and why lo Why did I just lost his name? Don, >> I'm looking at it. I'm trying to get it. Hold on. >> I I'm intrigued, but it's not enough to put it on the front of the list, if that makes sense. >> I have the the write up in front of me if you want me to say it. Go ahead. A summer in rural Oahu takes an exciting turn for two Brooklyn- raised siblings when a journal pointing to long-lost treasure sets them on an epic adventure with new friends and leads them to reconnect with their Hawaiian heritage.

So that's the finding Ohana part, but >> Kelly Hughes in it, so there's another bonus. >> Okay, his name is U K E Hugh Hu. Uh >> Kuwan Tuan. Yep. >> Kuan. Yeah. >> But yeah, he's kind of been off and, you know, doing little stuff here, but nothing. Yeah. >> Well, he's mostly been, I want to say, a stunt choreographer since Temple of Doom. He was Well, he was one of the uh the Teenage Mut Ninja Turtles, I believe. I want to say that's accurate. >> I'm looking see if he's in there. So when Alex was a we lad as they like to say probably I would say you were n or uh fourth grade probably when this happened.

The world changed when MTV debuted the real world. >> Oh I do know about this >> group of seven people in an apartment in New York City. I watched it for about the first four or five seasons and then I bailed. Paramount Plus as part of its launch next month, March the 4th, they're going to have a docu series where they're going to bring back the original Seven Housemates. I don't I don't think they're going to put them in an apartment cuz dear God, they're all in their 50s now, but I'll be interested I'll be interested to see how because that was a really good cast of people.

uh because it just turned and and I blame them for the Real Housewives because it started out as just a social experiment and you saw how different people from different walks of life came together. Even San Francisco even puck >> there that was still a good cast, but it just turned into how can we make people look like horrible human beings fighting and falling all over each other. And it just it it lost its magic for me after about the first four. I will be interested in this because it's the original cast.

>> So, >> I'll be curious to see what they do with it. But, it's kind it's going to be hard to do this with a bunch of different seasons. Like the earlier seasons because of their age now would be good for a look back. But, and I'm at some point I feel like I might get you onto this, but you have such a stockpile of things to get to. But, I'm telling you, the challenge series needs to be a major sport in America. It is incredible every single time. And you get a lot of these people from Real World or back when there was Road Rules, which was I was a Road Rules guy, not a real >> I enjoyed both of those shows.

I enjoyed having Real World was a challenge I like. >> Yeah. But having people from those in a an athletic competition with its own politicking is still phenomenal to me. >> Well, speaking of that show, Leo Rush recently uh lost out on that show. >> Yeah. I'm not to that episode yet. No, allegedly he quit. >> Oh, is that what it was? I just saw a headline that said he was no longer on the show. >> Yeah. Supposedly he left because he had an agreement to uh let's say become a champion somewhere. >> Fair enough.

Don >> uh Kuwan he was not in as a Teenage Mut Ninja Turtle according to and the last thing he did was like the X-Men movie where he's kind of a standin in 2000. He's been out he's been out of the >> he's got he's got Indiana Jones money. He's gonna be honest. >> He's got indie money. uh TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week. Season one of Lovecraft Country, unless you have HBO Max, and season two of Harley Quinn, unless you have HBO Max. >> Love that show. >> Uh just a couple of things from music this week.

Congratulations to the Cane Brown. >> He got to have his debut performance at the Grand Opry this week. So, congratulations to him. and he had a very strong uh very nice interview about and go out and read it because I don't want to go too deeply into it, but what his thought process is in that performance and who he dedicated it to. It's a great read. Go check that out. All right, gentlemen. It is that time of year again. This is going to be a big discussion for us. So, Don, I need you to get your thinking cap on.

outs. Get ready >> because this week >> the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced. You can go online and vote up to five times a day for your favorites until I believe the end of next month. So, let's go down the list. Now, I want to preface this by saying rock and roll is a loose term anymore. I'm okay with it because if you know your history of where rock and roll comes from, rock and roll birthe pretty much every kind every genre of music that came after it. If you don't have rock and roll, you don't have hip-hop.

You don't have metal. You don't have pop. Before that, it was just basically all just classical and jitterbugs. Like that's >> there was the original version of rhythm and blues that evolved into rock. Correct. You are absolutely correct. So, let's go down the list. >> That's my one contribution to music talk for the next decade. >> Hey, you you've checked in. First nominee, and we're going, it looks like in uh alphabetical by first name. Carol King. Alex, it it doesn't you can't be on camera when you do that.

>> I know. I'm not trying to be on camera. I'm signaling to you so that you can continue. >> No, I want you to be able to voice your opinions. >> I I think it's an absolute win for her, >> Don. I mean, unquestioned. >> Okay. How many do we get this year? How many do they >> That's a good question. Actually, that is a question. >> Usually, it usually winds up five or six, I believe. >> Okay. So, if they have six, I her is she deserving yes, but not this year. No, not yet. Next year. >> I strongly disagree.

This is the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest albums of our time in Tapestry. Tapestry also the very first album that was ever covered. There have been tribute albums, but never a specific album where every song was was tributed. Tapestry was the first ever in 1995 called Tapestry Revisited, which I own. She if if you've ever seen Beautiful, you know what she's done. This this is way way overdue. And Don, I don't want you to think in terms of only five get in. I just want to know your opinion in or out.

Okay. >> Well, if I was a voter and I I'm going to look at this kind of like it's of the list. If I had to pick six, that's what I'm gonna do. >> All right. That's how you want to That's a fair assessment. >> You know, I I can I can give an argument for everybody on the list. >> That's true. >> There's one or two that I say no, not yet. Unless because I think it should be like the Hall of Fame of baseball or football where you have to be retired. You have to be done. >> That's But that's not that is >> I know it's a little bit different music, but >> that's not what qualifies.

What qualifies 25 years since your first single? >> I still think personally it should be when they're done. >> But Don, we have to play by the rules. >> I understand. I understand. >> Don, you also have to realize most musicians aren't done until they're postumous. I mean, >> yeah, >> Don, remember Ric Flair is in the Hall of Fame >> twice. >> Yeah. >> Twice. >> But is he is he doing a 60-minute match anymore? No. >> Is he still active? >> Yes. >> But he's not singing. He's >> is he he's not singing.

>> I don't know. Check some of the promos. >> I'll just say, but go ahead. >> Next up, Shakan. Shakan. I believe she is already in with Roffus, but I believe she should be in for by herself, too. Alex, this is a hard one for me because I don't know her work. I know the name because it's fun to say. So, as somebody if I was taking Don's route and voting because I don't have any attachment and I don't I can't even name a single track which might say more about me than anything else. >> I would have to say no.

>> Hold on. Do you get the reference that I just did? >> I feel for you. >> No, I don't. >> Shak Shak, you don't know. I feel for you. No. Look that up after the show. I know there's no way you don't know that song. >> But you also understand what I'm saying is I don't I don't know. So I can't put my I can't >> your opinion. That just shocks me. Through the fire. Great song. Don >> her. No. No. >> Okay, fair enough. >> A one hit wonder basically when it comes down to it. I don't >> I'm I'm sorry.

What? >> As a AS A SINGLE >> YOU LOST your mind. >> She was only known for that one video basically. >> SHE WASN'T. >> YES, SHE WAS. THROUGH THE FIRE AIN'T NO BODY. LOOK IT UP. >> OKAY, THAT STUFF THAT'S OLDER. THAT don't count. >> No, I But no, I just don't I DON'T >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? >> NO. TO HER TO her though, honestly, I would not put her on that list of six. No, I would not put Shaka Khan on there. Of that list, I would not put her on my six. >> I think we have a title for the episode.

DVO. Alex, >> you're probably going to react to me like you just did to Don. I only know Whip It, and that's not enough for me. >> Fair. Don. >> Yes. >> D.VO gets in. They They helped pioneer in New Wave. A lot of people only know Whip It, but they also don't know what that group did for the industry, >> which I will totally admit is me. I don't know. >> If I do this ceremony, it's going to be about two and a half days long. That's all I'm saying. Uh, next up, Dion Warwick just now on Twitter for some reason.

Alex, what are your thoughts? >> I know the name. I would need to do deeper digging. So, for me, I feel like it should be a yes. And I'm sure you're going to sway me on this, but I don't know enough, so I can't say yes. But I think and and this is where and I hate to say it this way, but this is where age comes into play for people of your ilk and your generation. Unfortunately, you don't know her for the musical stuff. You get the Dion Warwick psychic friends network, which is a whole different that's a very much a very rare misstep in the Dion Warwick history.

Don, >> I didn't even know about that. >> Oh, yeah. >> Dion Warwick, she would make my sick. Yes, >> I believe she should be in whether it's her work uh solo with other people. That's what friends are for. Do you know the way to San Jose? She did a lot of work with Bert Bakarak. Uh she may be crazy as Aloon, but there's a lot more crazier people in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We have a Fila Couti. I hope I said that correctly. Uh passed away in 1997. A Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, band leader, composer, political activist, and pan-Africanist.

He is regarded as the pioneer of Afrobeat, which is a genre that was very popular there for a little while. Alex, I am unfamiliar, but from that description, it sounds like in that same vein of what your argument for D.Va was, if they are pioneering something, does that on its own even uh justify a place in the Hall of Fame? I would have to say no just from a lack of familiarity, but I am also willing to admit my shortcomings and knowledge. >> Same same with Alex on this one. >> I'm on the fence here because as I as I'm reading about him, I didn't know who he was personally, but I believe that there is a apparently there was a a Broadway musical based on his life called Fela.

This is this is one of those ones I would actually be curious if calling calling in to phone a friend on Don's side >> and seeing if this is somebody who Faith knows or knows of. >> I could ask. >> Yeah, that would keep going with the list and then circle back to that >> to hear her her thoughts on this. >> Uh let's see. Food fighters, Alex >> 100%. >> Don, >> too early. >> I agree. >> But not now. Yes, but not now. >> Food fighters are fully deserving. I will never not back Dave Croll. I will never say no.

>> The man gets a lifetime pass with me. >> Exactly. But the >> I see it five years from now definitely, but I think too early for that group. >> See, this is one of those times. I hate that argument. I really I and I understand and I respect what you're saying, Don. I hate that argument. Oh, it's too soon. Who cares? >> But I think by Don, the further we go down this list and you've got you've got to pick >> trying to narrow it down to that number. Okay, that's I can see >> my thing with food fighters.

The argument for is if Green Day is in, Foo Fighters are in. >> Argument against I'm looking at the rest of this list. >> That's also fair. >> There are people that are on this list that I'm like, why are they not in now? And that comes in this next item being the go- go. Why the go-os are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me. Look at that lineup. Every one of those ladies has had, whether you know it or not, has had a success in the band and out. Not in a Beatlesque or new edition level, but the Jane Weedland, amazing guitarist, had hits on her own.

Belinda Carile, do I need to say anything else? The Go-Go should have been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago. Alex, >> this is another one I know nothing. I I I know nothing, so I can't back you on this one. >> Showtime did a documentary I need to watch on that I've heard is excellent. There's also a brand new uh musical, a jukebox musical of their music. Don, >> I would definitely that's one of my six. That would be probably number one or two on my six on that list because and that's why I'd say over I think the go- go should go in before Foo Fighters.

>> I would agree with that. >> They're going to do six. That's why I they're just too new compared to the go- go. And I think that last documentary that came out on Showtime >> Oh, I'm now I'm recognizing the songs by name. I will totally back this. >> My lips are sealed. >> Our lips are sealed. >> Our lips are sealed. Uh yeah, but we got the beat and vacation are the two that really jumped to me. >> Beauty and the beat. That album alone. >> Yeah. >> Uh over I would put them in over Foo Fighters even though Foo Fighters are so deserving.

>> I agree. No, I agree with you 100%. >> Another band that I do not understand why is not in the Hall of Fame up this year, Bruce Dickinson and the boys from Iron Maiden. Are you kidding me? These guys aren't in. I believe this is the first time they've accepted the nomination. >> You don't have to accept the nomination. You just don't get you have to take the the induction. >> Well, no, no, no. I think I think there was some aspect. I remember seeing a report that was along the lines of they reach out to the potentials and say, "Hey, if we nominate you, do you care?" And Iron Maiden in true fashion put up a finger >> as they do.

>> Yeah. >> But no, absolutely 100%. Absolutely, Don. >> And that's that's another one. Yes, they need in like with the go- goes over again. Foo Fighters, as much as I love the Foo Fighters. >> Yeah. No, no, Don. We got you. We got you. >> We also have to send a shout out to Iron Maiden because their drummer Nico Brain has a barbecue restaurant in Coral Springs, Florida called Rock and Roll Ribs that I love very much. >> I did not know that. >> Yes. And they've got Dude, Don, you would love this place.

It's It's like the size of like one of your smaller wing stops. Mhm. >> Okay. >> And there's just nothing but Iron Maiden stuff everywhere. And you can buy their beer called the Trooper there. It's a really neat little restaurant. >> I would love to take a field trip and take Don and Doc. >> Oh, do get to rock and roll ribs. Abs freakingutely. >> Just to watch Doc freak out and Don's brain melt. >> And I didn't get to go there last year before the or after the cruise. So, I'm now due way overdue for a visit, which I will be doing later this summer.

And where's that place at again? Did you say >> it's in Coral Springs, Florida? >> Okay. >> Just right next to my hometown. Now, we get into one that is going to be controversial, is going to be talked about, but again, remember what I said at the top of this part of the segment. Rock and roll is a loose term. As we go to Sean Carter, also known as Jayz. Alex, >> I'm gonna be on an island, but I'd say yes. >> Yeah, I'm Don't Don't assume that. Don, >> I would. There's a couple more this year since he's he's already in with uh NWA, correct?

>> JP was not part of NWA, Don. >> Okay. Okay. I >> Jay-Z is East Coast if anything. >> Okay. Okay. I just want to do double check, but yes, I would put him on my sets right this year. >> While NWA was going, I don't know if he was out of middle school or already selling drugs or both. Jay-Z I believe should be in but not yet. Um, he's another one that if I've got to narrow it down. I, if you know me, you know I'm a huge fan of Jay-Z. I love his work. He's one of two hip-hop artists that are documented for not writing down their li lyrics.

Him and Biggie. Uh, Jay-Z is a guy you want to get a party going, you can put about 19 different Jay-Z tracks on get people moving. Just not yet. I'm not there yet because he's still got a lot to he's still got a lot that he wants to accomplish. And I think like like they say like this is a this is the thing for to to give tribute to some to someone total body of work and I think JC's got a lot more stuff he wants to do. So, but I'm good with him being in it to get in. >> I I want to say I was actually at the original 4040 club when it opened.

>> Oh, really? Nice. >> Kate Bush. Alex >> don't know her. Don, >> I'd say no. >> I say yes. Singer songwriter uh did a great duet with Peter Gabriel. Also has a a very popular song called Running Up That Hill. She's also got a couple of other songs that other artists have accomplished. Very very accomplished. If you look at her body of work, I am fully on board. Todd Smith, also known as LL CoolJ. Alex. >> Yeah. Absolutely. of my six this year. No. >> L Hold on a second. I want to confirm. You said that Jay-Z would be in your six, but not LL CoolJ.

I just want to confirm that. Okay. >> Yeah, fair enough. LL goes in before Jay-Z. >> He's one He's one of the godfathers of hip hop. >> He's He's also one of the people that really did that bridge along the same time as Hammer that brought it more into suburban culture. Uh, he did it before that. So, >> well, but I'm talking about that era. He's he's got about five years on Hammer >> before he actually got softened and going into the suburbs. >> He did the first rap love song. >> That's a >> in 1986 called I Need Love.

And it's a banger. >> God, was that 86? >> I was in middle school. I know. It was 86 or 87. It's in that era. Hammer didn't hit until ' 89. And that was his first album. >> Well, remember that's the time I first started recognizing music. So >> that is true. But beyond just noises, you could actually hear the difference in the in the in the notes at that point. I understand early child development. It's cool. This one I'm going to reserve my personal opinion. And if you know me, you know my if you've listened to this show long enough, you know my personal opinion, but I'll give it to you anyway after these gentlemen give theirs.

Mary J. Blige. Alex. This might be my first one. That's a tough no for me, >> Don. >> I'd say yes. >> That's one of your six. >> Yeah. And then I my last one, I guess, be honest with you. Um, well, I'll save it. >> If we're not there, don't name it yet. >> Yeah. I don't think we've named her yet. >> For me, >> that's a hard pass. I am to me there's only really been one good Mary Jay Bl song and it was her first one. Real love. Great song. >> Mary I give her a couple of them but >> I think she over >> I think that she's not good at sharing a spotlight.

Although even though not her song, I will give her You're You're all I need to get by with Method Man, which by the way, in case you don't know, and this is this is a mindblowing statistic, that song, The Puff Daddy remixes, is Def Jam's number one selling single of all time. And if you go back on the list of the number of artists that have been on Def Jam Records, and none of them have touched that song, that is a hell of a feat. But I do not believe Mary Jay BL at this time. Maybe down the road.

No way for me at this point. >> She just has she's had staying power. That's about it. But what I'm saying sing the song Every Note don't have to take an hour and a half. >> But the other aspect is is if that isn't enough for a one-h hit wonder to get in. No one hit wonder gets in. >> Well, I wouldn't call her a one hit wonder. >> No. I'm just talking about the the peak being the singular peak. >> New York Dolls. Alex, >> this is one of the ones I feel like it sounds familiar, but I'm not. I may have to look up the tracks.

>> Don, >> I have to say no. >> Hard hard hard disagree. New York Dolls. Two words. Buster Po Dexter. >> Oh, then it's a definite no. >> I mean, these guys were one of the pioneers of the punk rock era. Ushered it in. There's I there I am shocked they are not in now personally. Alex, I think you're gonna be on board with this next one. I'm gonna make a bold prediction. >> I'm willing to bet I know which one you're saying next. >> Rage Against the Machine. >> Absolutely. I know it's not going to be popular, but absolutely.

I'd be more afraid of them all in one room at this point >> or at least one of them, >> Don. >> But Tom Mel is a genius. >> Mhm. >> I'd say yes. Easily. Yeah. I'm on the fence here because I agree on the Tom Mel point. Zack Dearoka has shown that outside of Rage Against the Machine, he ain't got much. Tom Mel is the brains. Like, I would put Tom Mela in by himself. But >> wonder if he actually is, but >> you know, I I respect Zack Dearoka. I love the Rage stuff. I just don't know if I'm ready to have them in with some of these other artists yet.

>> What do you mean put them in one room? What? What are you talking about there, Alex? If you don't, >> they they don't get along. >> It's kind of like the ABBA thing where they the the originals can't stand. >> I think you'd get ABBA in the same room before you'd get the original lineup of Rage back in the same room. >> Oh, would you? Okay. >> Yeah. If you wanted a a sneak behind the curtain, go back. I want to say it was an MTV Awards where Rage Against the Machine was up for either album or video of the year or something like that.

>> And Daroka just started climbing the set on the stage. 1990 >> and Tom Mel literally quit the band and walked out of the theater and they were nominated for two more categories. >> I want to say that was like the 1994 VMAs, >> something like that. >> This is the one I think Don's waiting on. We're getting a Showtime documentary on her very very or HBO Max documentary on her very very soon. We said we talk about her again. Tina Turner. Alex, >> how is she not in already? >> I think she might be in as part of the Ike and Tina duo.

No, I I swear I thought she was already in and welldeserved. >> Don, >> she uh them and go- goes are my one and two. Her and go- goes, those are my >> Tina should have been in a long time ago. >> Yeah, >> should have been in a long time ago. You want to talk about staying power? I also got one word for you. Golden Eye. One of the best Bond theme songs ever. >> And we don't need another hero. Auntie. >> Yeah. Also great. Yeah, her from Max Beyond Thunderdome. She's she's just that woman's a force in nature, bro.

>> And plus what all she's been through in her life and still having a career. She has a personal life history, but still that staying power. And a lot of I hate to say it, a lot of women would have not been able to get through what she's been through. >> I'm going to be the bad guy. I don't think that matters. Yes, it's a true statement. I don't feel like that should be a contributor to >> but I think al what Alex I think what Don may be saying there and Don correct me if I'm wrong is that really enhanced her career because she was able to take her experiences and put them into her songwriting and into she could channel that energy into something that was uplifting to other people.

Don, am I am I in the ballpark? Yeah, cuz you look at some people who would have had would who's been through what she's been through and they would have been on alcoholic uh alcoholics tops alcoholics list and drug list and all that and would have destroyed their career >> and no and I and I can understand that with the the staying power or anything. I just I hate the idea that that becomes like the oh they survived so much so let's pump up their credibility which she doesn't need. It's one of the reasons why you get into like >> these competitions that they have on every other channel now.

>> The moment it's like, well, I really wanted to start dancing for my dad. No, you should be eliminated for the Saab story immediately. I don't give a crap. You either impress me with your talent or shut up, >> right? But I think you can use that later down the road to tell your story. But >> no, no, absolutely. If it combines into that, like you were talking about 100%. But I'm I hate the Saab story aspect where people get lifted up too high for being obviously not Tina Turner, but people who are mediocre getting bumped up to legendary just because they had it tough.

I get it. I'm not saying that it's bad or any indifference to your actual human nature. But if you're trying to say that you now have a Hall of Fame career because of what you went through, unless you're using it for the music, shut up. >> Last one on the list. I will say this real fast though is >> you look at her career, she has an iconic hit in how many different decades? >> That's a great question. >> 70s >> at least six. But I know I don't think any of us disagree that she should be in >> Yeah, she'd be number one on my list.

Yeah, >> she'd be number one on my list and it's not even close. when Angela Basset wants to play you in the biopic. It's all I'm saying. >> Yeah. >> Last one on the list. I'll be interested to hear both of your opinions on this. Todd Rundren. Alec, excuse me. >> I don't know him. >> Don, >> not my top six. No. >> Todd Runren should be in. Should have been in a long time ago. Although some would see him as a one-h hit wonder for Hello, It's Me. Uh he also did Bang the Drum, which is a great song, but he is also very prolific behind the scenes and in other bands.

Song, that guy's amazing. The fact that he's not in now is a problem for me, but I also don't run the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because if I did, they'd be open later than 5:30 in the afternoon. Not very rock and roll. Alex, >> uh quick note, that is correct. Prior, Ike and Tina are in together. Tina is not in as a solo act. Just to put a bow on that section. One music new release that I noticed this week and just because of the name of the band album name is called As the Love Continues by a by I believe this is a metal band called Mwai.

I'm in. All right, let's get into movie talk. We're actually going to get through the run sheet today. That's amazing. Uh Jamie Lyn Curtis has joined Borderlands. >> This one I hadn't heard. >> They haven't said who she's playing, but she will be in the movie. And the voice of Clap Trap, which Alex Red be the red herring for Kevin Hart has now been cast as Jack Black, which I know enough about this game because I watched my nephew play it when I was hanging out with him a few years ago. I kind of I'm kind of in on this.

>> See, but I Okay, if you're if you're going to follow me with this one, I still think it's a red herring. I think Kevin Hart winds up playing Clap Trap. And I think Jack Black winds up playing Marcus. >> I'll roll with you because I don't know enough. the fat bus driver who is basically your weapons dealer throughout the game. >> So, Don Don has a bit when we do movie reviews, which we haven't been able to do in a very long time and looking very forward to getting back on track with that. >> We may just end up doing one for a movie coming up just because of what it is, >> whether we choose to do it as a screener or just do it on our own.

Don, when you are talking about movies that have sequels, there is a certain franchise that you like to compare it to. >> Okay. >> And what is that franchise? Do you know what I'm talking about? >> Well, there's a couple they always put in there. One is Aliens and then one you look at like, you know, Ghostbusters and stuff like that. >> Nope. There's another one that you always refer to as one that had too many sequels. They should have stopped that. >> Oh, Ice Aged. Absolutely. >> Ice Age. Yeah.

>> Did you hear this news this week, Don? >> Oh gosh. No. Now what? >> You're not getting another new Ice Age film. At least not in its present form because remember who Ice Age was a part of? What movie? What? Who dist who distributed those films? Do you remember? >> I I don't know who distributed them. >> That was 20th Century Fox who was bought by who? >> Uh Disney. >> Disney now shutting down Blue Sky Studios. Who is the the studio responsible for those Ice Age films? Because they got Pixar. They don't need Blue Sky.

What do you think about that, Don? >> It's their business. They want to take it over, they can take it over. >> I don't think this stops us from another Ice Age film. >> Oh, true. >> It'll be under the Disney banner. Uh Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is coming next year. >> I have talked to so many people. I have talked to so many people that have been like, "Dude, this movie is so much better than it has to be." >> I have not heard anybody say it's bad. That's the craziest part. >> I know. Even people who want to be contradictory.

>> I keep getting to that edge of maybe I'm going to watch it. I'm like, I got other stuff to do. But it was apparently good enough to get one for next year, allegedly. >> Do we have the casting? >> That's I just saw the teaser image with the logo. That's all I've seen. >> So, did you ever play Sonic the Hedgehog when you were younger? I owned the Genesis was the very first gaming system I owned on my own. >> Did you play it long enough to get to the point where they brought in Knuckles as the second?

>> By the time Knuckles came in, I was out. >> So, there is some casting news on who will be playing Knuckles in the second movie. >> I know who Knuckles is, but you know whose cast has it or the >> No, I know the character. >> Okay. So, the casting news is that it is looking to be one Jason Mamoa >> on board. >> Yeah, >> it's Momoa. You can do whatever you want. >> Exactly. >> There are two Sonic games that matter to me. The OG Sonic the Hedgehog >> and Sonic Spinball. >> Wow. >> You will you will ner as even as a novice gamer, >> you will nar have more fun than playing Sonic Spinball.

It can get very frustrating because of some of the levels, >> but Sonic Spinball is so much fun to play >> because it's Sonic the Hedgehog. It needs a pinball. Like, what else do you need? Did you see the new, Speaking of pinball games, did you see the new pinball game that just dropped last month? >> I did not. There's a new Led Zeppelin pinball game from Stern that I am dying to get my hands on because they've done such an amazing job with stuff like Batman 66, the Beatles, Iron Maiden. >> Stern might be the best company to build anything like that.

>> And the fact that Oh, I don't know if we announced it on the show, but Texas Pinball Festival was cancelled for this year >> sadly. >> And I'm very upset about this. because finally move. I'm right around the corner from the Frisco Convention Center. Very excited. We're going to do the show there. I don't have to drive across TOWN AND THERE HASN'T BEEN ONE SINCE I MOVED. >> SO, it's your fault. >> Yes. Uh we have we're getting another version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. This this broke this morning because for those of you that don't know, the Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie version is not the original.

That is a remake. So, we're getting another remake. And the casting here I find very interesting. Please go. Mr. Smith is childish Gambino himself, Donald Glover. Mrs. Smith will be played by one Phoebe Waller Bridges. Is it Bridges or Bridge? I'm still Donald Glover. Yep. I'm I got nothing. is Phoebe Waller Bridge. I apologize. >> Yes, >> I am I am I'm curious, >> but I mean Okay, as the old Bud Dry commercials used to say, why ask why, my friend? And in more news that will perplex and possibly Don, you're getting a retooling of Paranormal Activity.

>> Yeah. Talk about a series that's had way too many fans. >> What do you mean retooling? >> It's basically a reboot of Paranormal Activity. >> Possibly. >> You're rebooting a movie that was just night cam footage. >> Oh, no. You have the You have to go through the series. Remember, this is the No, hold on. Hold on. I'm not saying that you have to watch it. You have to go through the series and realize how far away from the existence of rails they got. Not just off the rails, how far away. And you have, this is the seventh movie.

The first one, not going to lie, scared the hell out of me. The second one got a little bit weird. And then third through six have been the worst train wrecks I've ever seen in my entire life. >> So, what you're saying is >> No, no, it doesn't require that. It doesn't. It No, this is one of those. It's more of the you lost horn because it doesn't require the effort of a no screen. That one. >> You're welcome. >> We're just going to do all of the rest of movie talk will be about sequels and remakes because that's the headlines we have left.

Paramount remaking again the King and I because Anna and the King did so well because as we all know who has better romantic chemistry than was it Chowoan Fat and Jodie Foster. >> Yeah, I want to say that was that turd. >> And I've never been a huge um Yeah, Chowan Fat Bing Jody Foster. was 1999. Good lord. >> Um I'm just not a huge fan of that music to begin with. >> Like we've seen it live and it's a thing, but I just if it ain't you or Brandon, I don't care. We're also getting a nonmusical remake of The Wizard of Oz.

>> Supposedly there's two >> supposedly there's two Wizard of Oz movies coming. And y'all know how I feel about the Wizard of Oz. >> NO, NO, NO. >> DON'T LIKE IT. We'll never watch it again if I don't have to. >> Actually, >> do what? Don, >> you hate the one from 39 is what you're talking about. >> Because here's why. I There there's a reason that I do not like that and I do not like It's a Wonderful Life. When I was growing up, those two movies were on all the time. Now, of course, it's a Wonderful Life all Christmas season, but Wizard of Oz, if it was a holiday, it Jackson, if it's the Wizard, if it's a holiday, Wizard of Oz is on.

>> Easter, Wizard of Oz. Labor Day, Wizard of Oz. Halloween, Wizard of Oz. Arbor Day, Wizard of Oz. No, thank you. You know, the Ten Commandments, I just showed you Easter, so I was cool with that. Greatest story ever told. Cool with that. But Wizard of Oz just got worn out for me. And same thing with like when I was a kid from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year's Day, It's a Wonderful Life was on somewhere every day. >> Still is. >> And that movie I'm I'm done with that movie. It drives me crazy.

So I don't need The Wizard of Oz again ever. And we're getting a sequel to Face Off. What? >> Wait, was it a sequel? I thought it was a reboot. It is now being labeled as a sequel. >> Oh lord. >> Okay. Not sure why. >> I actually like the >> Actually, I can tell you why. >> That's fair. The answer to all >> of your questions is money. >> Only one new movie release this week. It is a movie called Supernova with Colin FTH and Stanley Tucci. You already have my You already have my attention. Sam and Tucker are traveling across England in their old RV to visit friends, family, and places from their past.

Since Tucker was diagnosed with dementia two years prior, their time together is the most important thing they have. I am in. I am very interested in this. This is two powerhouses working together and it's all in an RV. You know, this is going to be good. Speaking of movies and people in movies, by the way, uh only one DVD Blu-ray new released this week. The Criterion Collection is releasing a movie called Mandabi. Also announced this week, The Criterion Collection has announced they will be doing Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Let's go. Alex, >> do you have an item about Justice League in theatrical form? >> I do not. Oh, well, this just broke yesterday. >> Okay, >> so Justice League is coming next month, I want to say, on HBO Max, >> March the >> I think it's on, is it? >> I thought it was the 18th. >> March the 18th. >> I believe it's the 18th. >> It is also going to be given a theatrical run. >> Go on. >> Remember, it's 4 hours long. >> I don't care, Don. I do not expect you to see this in a theater. >> Hold on. Hold on.

>> Which one? >> The New Justice League because it's four hours long and I know you better. Go ahead, Alex. >> Okay, >> for those people seeing it theatrically, and remember we talked about this, so we may have spoken this into existence, >> there is a 10-minute intermission, >> as there should be because there was in The Hateful Eight, which I thought was smart. >> Yeah, but it was confirmed yesterday that the Justice League theatrical showings will have a 10-minute intermission. >> Let's go. You're going to be in Vegas that weekend, though.

>> Well, if you could hold off for four days, I will big baller that when I get back. We'll figure something out. >> Yeah. >> And when's the opening again on that one? >> March 18th. >> Are they going to put that like on uh like HBO? >> It's going to be on HBO Max, but they they they were fighting. They were saying we're not doing it theatrically. Apparently, they've said now it's going to air theatrically. It's going to be released four hours. Don. >> Yeah. >> You are not good about sitting through movies that are that are any of length.

So, as we know, so prepare. You might want to watch that one at the house so you can take your your breaks when you need to. >> March 18th confirmed. >> All right. So, speaking of movies and casting and things of that nature, Don, I need your support here. I need you on board because I'm It's going to take all of us right now. >> Depends what it is. >> Tuesday night, 900 p.m. Eastern. I'm listening. >> It is the finals of castoff hosted by friend of the show Craig Price. I will be taking on Chaz Campbell from Gaggle of Geeks podcast.

Is it Campbell? I thought it was Evans. >> Is it Evans? Find out for me. >> Checking it out. >> There might be three names involved in this. I am a finalist, Don. >> Okay, >> I'm going for the title. >> All right. as we have recast the Shaw Shank Redemption. I watched it last night. Haven't watched that movie in probably 20 years and I had forgotten how much I love that movie. When I can get my wife to sit down and watch a two and a half hour movie with me, that tells you how good this movie is. Alex Chaz Campbell Evans.

So, I gotta stand up for the great state of Texas because Randy lost to the guy that I beat this past or two weeks ago. be there for me. Root me on Tuesday night, nine o'clock Eastern time. Look it up, Matinea Heroes. That's what you're gonna find it as it streams live.
