It is 1:00 p.m. on the East Coast. It is 10:00 a.m. on the West Coast. It is the 22nd of August in the Year of Our Lord 2020, season 11, episode 6. 539 times this face andor this voice has welcomed you to the clubhouse podcast live right now on V vocalow.com v. It is a special Saturday episodes because we are in the first of backtoback pay-per-view weekends. But that does not mean that the clubhouse is not going to bring you content because that's what we do. Welcome. My name is Rob. I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse podcast and it's been a heck of a week.
Let's go around the dance so you can meet the cast. We are skating at full strength. I'm going to go right down the the uh order on my screen right now. She is the lady of the house and she is blinged out on the microphone front. She is Jen Rome. Hello friend. >> Hello everyone. So glad you're back with us once again. Next up on the docket is the official fact checker of Sooner Gator Productions and a man that is making things happen today. His his neighbors are going to be very very jealous of the smells emanating from his backyard.
You may know him as Igbonu, but his mama named him Don Ford. I'm going to call him Don Ford. Hey, brother. >> The pit boss is getting going. >> That is one of the coolest names for for an appliance ever. The pit boss. But don't say I I love it already. You said >> we're gonna find out later today. >> Okay. All right. >> Grinding out the day is my co-host >> and a man who is preparing for the best season of his year and he's had to deal with some jerk all week. I don't know what's going on there. He is Alex.
What's going on, brother? >> I'm just I'm in countdown mode. We are two weeks away from the best day in all of sports. Draft day, actual draft, the fantasy day. >> Better than rumble day. >> Yes, I Rumble day is up there. Rumble is very much in the top five, but nothing will ever beat fantasy draft day. And then you get the long weekend and I'm off the next week and I will be in an undisclosed location making bad decisions. And I love it. Well, we hope you're going to be there. >> Well, we we gonna find out.
>> You got a 50/50 shot right now. >> I may be driving a rental car across the country, but >> it's actually not a bad drive. I've done it. >> I'm not I'm not a long drive guy anymore with the back and everything. Oh, man. You know what? I may I may convince somebody else to join me. >> Can't wait to do it in 11 months when I drive the other way. >> So, all right. this. Normally, we give you some NASCAR stuff, but we're racing right now because it's the back-to back uh race weekend. So, we really don't have any updates for you because we did that on last week's show.
And we want to thank uh Craig Price from Mata Heroes to for coming on. Uh we do apologize for the uh Mother Nature interrupting things for me bit, but I think we did a pretty good job of bridging the gap between the between the clips. So, uh, we were hoping for an instrumental version of The Girl from Epana, but I don't have that, uh, ability just yet. We're we're close. It just takes a long time. So, uh, we have the back. Go ahead. Go ahead, Alex. >> I was going to say before we shift out of anything with NASCAR, we do have the headline.
Did you want to do that now or? >> Uh, let me just give just the schedule and then you can do that as we come out of it >> because we have the backtoback dry Dean 311s from Dover, Delaware today and tomorrow. And then next Saturday we will have the Coke Zero Sugar 400 and that's going to be a night race. So even though they're saying that they're racing right now, they're not supposed to race till 3 unless we're doing like the trucks or something right now. So both Del Dover will be at 4:00 Eastern and both of today and tomorrow will be on your NBC Sports Network.
Next Saturday from Daytona will be on NBC proper and then it'll be time for the playoffs and we'll talk more about that next week. Uh we have not talked about the schedule for Labor Day weekend, but just keep uh keep keep up with our social media so you'll know what and if we will be doing uh we just haven't talked about it as a group and that's that's a decision that we need to make together. So, Alex, go. >> Actually, now you've given me a second point. Based on the early start with NASCA, do you think they're trying to beat any weather coming in based on uh the South about to start getting hit by duel?
>> Uh, that's not supposed to happen till Tuesday. >> I'm seeing uh pictures of the rainbands and everything starting now. >> Yeah, but they're in Delaware. >> I understand that, but where is their largest demographic of fans? >> Yeah, but they can get that on their phone. You're making a huge assumption, sir. But shifting into the better news, we have history in NASA. >> We do. >> Uh Eric Moses, who last on his resume was team president for the XFL's DC Defenders, is your first African-American track uh president in NASCAR history for the Nashville Super Speedway.
>> That is great. Hey, and don't count the XFL out because the sale is official. Oh, I I love the meme I've been seeing of another one of the Spongebob ones where they're smelling the pie like classic cartoon style that it was the XFL smelling what the Rock is cooking. >> They should. >> I'd have to find that one. And >> I've got my my Dallas Renegades hat in the other room. >> And I heard some and it kind of made sense to me. Okay, the Rock is making all the buzz about this because if it was a group of investors, like for instance, his ex-wife is one of the investors in the group >> because she's his business partner.
>> I understand. Understand. But let you take the rock out of it. It would have been the big the big headline that it is. >> No, think about it. Of course not. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, it's kind of basically what this guy could bring to the, you know, a guy who would had $7 in his pocket at one time could turn into what he is today. and now what this he may bring to the lead, but it's just amazing what his name alone is worth. >> So, what is it? For the third year in a row, he's the highest paid actor in Hollywood.
>> Interesting. >> I'm okay with that. >> He's Dwayne. He can do what he wants. >> I I don't mind having him on the big screen. It doesn't bother me any. >> And I have not had yet had a chance to watch uh the Titan Games finale. It's on Hulu. I haven't watched it yet. So, >> it's funny what Limitless Charisma will give you. >> Yeah. I mean, that guy's got it. >> Yeah, >> make no mistake. Anybody that can reference Fleetwood Mac in their first book, they're on they're on board with them. Uh, let's get into some sports, Alex.
>> Which part? >> It ain't just my Marlins now. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Somebody else's team is now locked down because of COVID. And I don't want to mention any names. >> Well, who were they in? They probably got it from, >> but their initials are meet the Mets. Greet the Mets. Come on out and beat the Mets. That's right. >> Apparently, I need to train you on what initials are. Got it. >> Not the first time I've done that bit. Thanks for paying. >> I know. But now I have a dagger. >> No, you The dagger is your team needs to play some ball.
>> Well, they need to stop catching things from Miami. >> Well, then don't come to Miami. >> That's a could be said across the board for a lot of things. >> Yeah, that Do you hear me debating it? >> Nope. Remember, for those of you that don't know, for those of us from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, we acknowledge their existence and their sport teams. Outside that, don't have much use for them. >> Yeah. >> Especially as a Gator fan. >> Oh, I want to see South Beach. You're No. >> Yeah. You look at pictures.
Do a Google search. >> Really? That That's not bad, huh? >> Well, the thing is when people tell me they're going to Miami, what I tell them is go to Fort Lauderdale. You're going to stay cheaper. >> Okay. >> It's a 45minute drive. Go down there. Say you went there and then come back. It's a much better experience because you're not dealing with all of the idiots. You're only dealing with some of the idiots. >> Okay. >> Fort Lauderdale has a lot more history. It has a lot more cool things to do that you're not going to be packed in like sardines with other people.
I think Fort Lauderdale has a better arts district. I love Lo Solis. They have their own festival. Probably not this year, but they do. The beaches look more They're more >> It's Yeah. Well, and it's less touristy >> and it's also less eroded. >> Yeah. >> But the interesting thing for those of us that are that are from there, what you know is basically from north of Palm Beach all the way down, the beaches look basically the same, only there's more space when you are further north. >> And if you're a surfer, you go north of Palm Beach because that's where the better waves are.
>> Yeah. And you and you can check the list of saying like, "Oh, I've been in Miami." There's nothing wrong with that. Uh maybe you hit up uh you know Joe Stone Crab because that's the only thing in Miami I can think of that you can get that you can't get elsewhere. Uh but then >> as Alex will attest to you the Fort Lauderdale airport's much better than Miami. >> That's not saying much, but it is accurate. >> Miami Miami International is an absolute beating. I will go through Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Fort Lauderdale International anytime.
>> So Miami Beach is not the big pizzazz. It's like don't waste the time. >> Miami Beach doesn't even really qualify as a beach anymore. Oh, really? Okay. >> If you if you like I don't know if you heard what was in the background, you hear a lot of that. Uh but it's just and even when Alex and I were down there in January, it was just kind of like, yep, it's still there. >> Yep. It was cool to see the Super Bowl stuff going up. I'm done. >> All fenced off. >> I'm sorry. >> All fenced off. >> Yeah, basically.
>> And Bayside still Bayside. >> It's still beautiful. Well, I mean, it was great sitting in that Chili's having dinner watching the NFL playoffs. >> Oh, absolutely. >> Playoffs. But, >> you know, if we were going to be there, I mean, think about the fact that I went down there the Thursday before and still spent my time up in the Palm Beach area versus going to Miami. Now, granted, I got to spend time with one of my favorite people in the world to do it, so bonus. >> Yep. And Heather's been on the show and we love her and I can I I will forever be indebted to her for letting me crash on the couch there.
But it's even even without her, I still would have been up that direction versus being in Miami. >> Boy, we changing it up. We That was the biggest change we had in a while. >> Hey, but that's important information that we need to reiterate with people. We have the experience. Miami is great because everybody knows where that is. It's in the songs, not always good ones. But you don't need it. >> Indeed. All right, so let's get into some baseball standings in the AL East. Wow, the Red Sox are bad.
Uh 9 and 18, if they doubled their win total, they could be a game up. But in what, 27 games and you got a minus 40 run differential, that's a rough deal. Still not the worst in the league, Seattle. Uh, but they are three and a half games back on Baltimore. Baltimore's two back on Toronto. Toronto's two and a half back on the Tied Yankees and Devil and not the Devil Rays, but the Tampa Bay Rays. I like the Devil Rays better. Uh, AL Central, the Tigers are four games below 500, yet they're five and a half back.
They're one and nine in their last 10. Uh, they are actually tied with the Royals. Remember when you were somebody Kansas City >> for about a half a season? >> They No, they won. They won they won the World Series like five years ago. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that was the half a season. >> No, they were good in the 80s. >> I don't remember the 80s. >> It's because you were like three. >> Also true. >> Um Kansas, the both of those teams are four and a half back on the White Socks. The White Socks are a half game back on Cleveland.
Cleveland is now only a half game back on the Twins. Uh but the White Sox have won six in a row. So you got that going for you, which is nice. In the AL West, I get to push my button because in the basement by a game or a half game technically is the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles County, California, North America, Earth, Milky Way, Universe, Multiverse. They are a half game back on Seattle, who after 28 games has a minus 50 run differential. So, good on you, Seattle. They are two and a half back on the Rangers.
Rangers are in the middle of the pack right now. They're four and a half back on the on the hated Houston Astros. And it's going to be a rough year for them. And Houston three and a half back on Oakland. In the National League, the NL West, the the San Francisco Giants are four games below 500 and they are uh eight games out. They're a game and a half back on Arizona. But the Diamondbacks are only a half game back on Colorado. Colorado two back on the Padres's. And the Padres's now four back on Misty's beloved Dodgers in the NL Central.
Don, my Pirates, >> your Pirates have won five more games than me. They suck. I SAID LAST WEEK it was a conspiracy. They're five and 17 right now. It's a conspiracy. It's the co It's It's >> Don. If everybody stopped playing right now and you doubled your win total, you would still be four and a half games out. >> I know that. >> I also love the fact that they have five wins and would have two less wins than a team coming up who has played half as many games basically. >> I know. >> They're on a oneame win streak, though.
So, you got >> There we go. That's the turnaround. That's what >> And you and you've got 11 you're you're 11 runs closer to zero on your differential than Seattle. >> Hey, you're five games back on Milwaukee >> who are tied with the Reds >> who are having their own problems in the announce booth right now. Uh both of those teams are a half game back on the Cardinals. The Cardinals now four back on the Cubs, but the Cardinals also having quarantine issues too. And in the only division that matters, the NL East, the Phillies are in last place and Alex and I couldn't be happier about that.
Uh they're tied with Washington for the seller. By the way, your defending World Series champions are nine and 13 right now. But Alex, your Mets are on a three-game win streak. >> Well, that's because they played Miami, who decided to lick everything on their way out of town. >> Well, you know, we want to make sure we leave you a little something. >> You are a game and a half back on said uh Marlins. The Marlins are now a game and a half back on my beloved Braves. But the Braves are five and five in their last 10 or 1511.
They've got to pick up the pace just a little bit as we are now almost to the halfway point in the in in the season of asterisks. This is just such a I I I feel like I'm going to wake up and this season really didn't happen. and it was just all of us in the Matrix on a collective season cuz I just I can't count any of this. >> I'm just I'm I'm going to be excited for to see how the playoffs uh run down. That's the only thing I care about for this season at this point is I want to see how the expansion goes.
I want to see if it's going to be successful enough for them to look at it in a regular year. You speak I'm glad you mentioned the playoffs. >> So you could do the voice again >> because there's only only one way to say this. Somebody is listening to this show. Last week, >> LAST WEEK, NOT EVEN A WEEK AGO, SIX DAYS AGO, NOT EVEN A full six days because we was a night show. I had an entire plan for MLB playoffs. And now what's happening? Oh, the playoffs ARE GOING TO BE IN A BUBBLE. THE HECK IS going on?
I forgot to turn on the board. Like I I don't want to claim that is smartest man alive because I feel like other people have to have had this idea. But the fact that they called what was this like 3 days after I said it they called this >> just about I feel like I'm just giving away money to people. >> But you're also glossing over the other aspect of this. >> Please do cuz I'm angry right now. >> Baseball never comes up with anything first apparently anymore. The NFL had actually brought up the idea of a playoff bubble as part of their potential.
still after I said it too. >> After you said it, but before baseball. >> Despite history, I think we have greater ties with the NFL. Let's just say that. >> Hard to be a genius sometimes. Let's get into the the Oh, and by the way, oh, we haven't gotten there yet. That's why you haven't said it. Let's go ahead and talk about the NBA playoffs. >> I am not going to say it at this point just because they have done such a great job with the bubble. They're what's the next step up from garbage? >> They're recyclables.
They're recyclables. >> They're recyclables. >> They're They're in the blue can, not the green can, which is >> Well, until last night with the flopping incident >> in the city I live in because the city supplies you with those bins for the garbage because of the special kind of truck they have. Cuz they don't have guys that jump off a truck and dump your your garbage in the thing. They have one guy in a truck that drives down the alley and he has these little arms that come up and they grab it. >> Oh, you have the pinchers.
>> Yeah. And it's only one guy, so it's not like three. I missed the days of the guys hanging off the back of the truck just rocking out in the USA. >> But when we first moved in, I was confused for like the first week because the green bin is for the trash and the blue bin is for the recyclables. And I kept thinking, why isn't the green bin the recyclables? Because you're going green. I very confused. >> Because Texas. Because the colony. Because how far do you want me to go with this? >> I'm just saying.
I think it has to do with land and sea that the recyclable is to help save the animals that are in the ocean. They're the ones that were getting their next caught in things. >> Interesting. >> That's >> that is an acceptable argument. >> I have I have nothing to back that other than that's what my brain went with. >> That's fair. NBA playoffs are underway kind of sort of right now. LA and Portland are tied 1-1. Uh after both of your one seeds lost big in their first games. Uh Oak Oakland is OK OKC is now down two love to Houston in the four five matchup.
Utah up on Denver who early in the season a lot of people were saying look out for the Nuggets and apparently they're not looking out for themselves right now cuz the Utah were famous for Jazz are up on them and and the uh the Mavericks now down 2-1 to the key pairs in the Eastern Conference. Milawake and Orlando both tied at one. That was a surprising win by Orlando in game one, but Milwaukee did get the win back. My Heat are up 20 on the Pacers. Boston on the verge of elimination of Philly at 3 and Toronto in the same boat as they are up 3 on the Brooklyn Nets to the NHL playoffs.
But, you know, I haven't heard anybody call it the Stanley Cup playoffs this year. Yeah, that is a little weird. I just I realized that yesterday. I'm like, are we not giving the cup away? But it's the greatest trophy in all of sports. >> I am not debating that. >> Although I really do like the I think it's the National League trophy that they give out in baseball. The one that's curved around that has all the flags on it. >> That's the old World Series trophy. >> But I thought somebody else was using that that same deal now.
I like that trophy a lot. Always have. >> I I think that's the World Series trophy now. >> And the NFC trophy I like a lot too. Uh, I don't like the new ones. >> So, Vegas has eliminated the Blackhawks. >> Good. >> In a 4-1 win. They will take on Vancouver in the second round. And, uh, we do not have the pairing of Dallas and Colorado of who's going to be the upper seed in that yet, according to the Yahoo. But that is your second round in the Western Conference. In the Eastern Conference, the Flyers take out the Canadians.
>> Man, you guys are slow today. >> Hey, I was on the >> last time we did this. >> I know. We're >> I was on the right immediately. It's just >> I know we're a little rusty. >> And plus, we're also not in the studio, which so there might be a little delay there. They will take on the Islanders in the second round. Tampa Bay and Boston will be your other matchup coming up as well as Boston and Tampa Bay eliminate Carolina and Columbus respectively four to one. So, we're chugging right along and then we're going to take a couple of weeks off and do it all over again uh in the NBA and the NHL.
Uh Alex, uh nothing real big from the NFL this week as we are still in training camps. I haven't heard anything earthshattering uh except we did have the Ron Rivera story where he had they have found uh some cancer things in his lymph nodes. So even though we are not big fans of the Washington football team on this show, we do like Ron Rivera. Uh we hope that that he that they they are able to get him through treatment and get him all cleared up soon. Yeah, the Giants had a really nice uh press release on that uh done by Joe Judge that basically says on the field we're bitter rivals.
Off the field we're part of a family, which is the NFL. Uh the only thing we have on that one which has been very fascinating and I don't know if you had it earmarked for TV talk regarding Hard Knocks. >> I have not had a chance to watch Hard Knocks either episode yet. So >> uh without spoiling anything because there ain't really nothing going on with the way the training camps are. you can kind of and I I feel a little vindicated in my hope for the NFL when you look at the extent of what they've done for the players and in the time of COVID where they've been able to limit any kind of outbreak or even positive tests.
Seeing the amount of things going into just league setups and league requirements gives me such great hope that we're going to have a season uninterrupted. >> I'm hoping I'm still not I >> I I'll tell you what I want to between this week and next week you're mark some time watch at least the first episode of Hard Knocks. It is available on HBO Max. uh just watch the first episode and I want to hear your honest response to the amount of uh precautions and prevention that they go through. >> I'll tell you what, I will do my best.
>> Okay. >> I've got other things I'm focused on right now. >> Well, you do stretch yourself thin, sir. You are all over the place. >> I do. I do. But you know what they say about idle hands. Maybe I'll just pretend to make a new training and then >> the final exam I have to watch two episodes of Hard Knocks in the conference room. >> That That's a training I need to be in on two, right? >> You're on vacation Monday, Tuesday, lady. >> I am. >> And my trainings are done Tuesday. >> For those of you that don't know, threequarters of this show now officially all work for the same company >> because that that happened since our last episode.
Mhm. >> So, I have joined the I've joined the workforce again. >> Whoop whoop. >> So, >> congratulations >> and and thank you to Jen Ro and Alex for being my champions on that front. Um, I'm really enjoying myself, but I'm learning a whole new industry. So, if I look a little groggy, it's because my brain hurts. >> Personally, I'm really glad you're there. And it's always nice to have someone you can believe in and recommend and know that you're going to look better for recommending them rather than the alternative.
>> If I can >> Well, that's why I'm there. Then there's Rob. But >> I'm just actually just independent of everything. Rob has picked up the material way better than he gives himself credit for. So I have full faith. >> Yeah. I'm looking forward to learning more and uh really hoping to be a part of some great positive change. >> You already are. >> Company. So, I'm very excited. Um, it's a great company. Everything I've seen so far, I' I've really been impressed and everybody's been really awesome uh that that I've met.
So, even though there's not a whole lot of people in the building right now, >> but I want to hear you say it in the Eric Cartman voice about the awesome. That's I don't know why >> I still see a lot of people in China. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Um, I couldn't remember if that was my if that was my Eric Cartman or my William Patrick Corgan, but that's the other show. >> Aren't they the same for you? Yes, they are because he is the Eric Carbon of rock music. Uh, we had the new professionals announced for Dancing with the Stars, but I have not heard the cast yet.
>> I was hoping we'd get that announcement by the end of the week, but they haven't said anything yet. I I really think this is going to be a hard The reason they haven't announced it yet is because they're getting they're not getting a lot of people that are like, "Yeah, I'm willing to do that." >> Yeah. They've been having that for a few years, though, haven't they? >> Talking about the state of the world. >> Yeah. Yeah, >> that a lot of you celebrities like I'm not getting all hot and sweaty in a studio with somebody else right now.
>> Not without a camera rolling. Uh Apple has renewed the the brand new series. I believe Jason Sedakas is in this. Ted Lasso. >> They've already given that a season two. >> Really? So >> did you hear the premise for this though? >> I have not. >> Okay. So, um, Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sedakus, is a successful American football coach who goes over to Europe, hired as a football manager. >> Interesting. >> And supposedly everybody I've seen that's seen it has said it's hilarious. >> I'm a huge fan of >> going to Europe and football.
Is it still >> football? Yes. >> Is it what we call football? >> So, he has changed sport. >> I I I haven't watched anything. I'm assuming the premise is that he didn't realize that that was also football because he thought it would be because it should be soccer. So, I'm very intrigued by this. And >> guys, I'll be back in just a minute. I have to hit I'll be back in just >> All right. Not a problem, sir. >> Not a problem, Don. And um Oh, we also have big news from his lady friend coming up later in the show, too.
>> Do you have the the what it was that she teased on the run? >> Yes, I already I knew that when I read the headline. >> Okay. Well, the franchise, but not the specifics. >> Like, she's said everything but the character's name, and there's about this much margin for error right now. >> Uh, Comedy Central, after renewing drunk history for season 7, has canled the series. >> Did you Did you see what they're doing with this, though? >> I have not. I've only watched a couple of episodes and I've enjoyed what I've watched.
>> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, it's it's not that it's drunk history. They're cancelling everything with live action just about. >> Really? >> Tosh.0 know even where you have person everything. They are cancelling almost every live action and going to an animated format >> and a lot of that's moving to HBO Max too. >> Yes, it is. >> So, um I put this under NBC because I think that's what network it's on. Uh one of the favorites of Friend of the Show, Mattie Maher. Uh the Kelly Clarkson Show season 2 premiere is set for September 21st.
So, she's going to be doing a best of the best of the week before and then going into new episodes after that. Uh, from Netflix, season 4 of The Crown has a release date. It will be November 15th, so right before Thanksgiving, so you'll be able to binge that over the uh Thanksgiving holiday if you're into that. Uh, let's see what else they But they have also cancelled Patriot Act with Hassan Minaj after season six, >> which I've heard really good things about that show. >> They have renewed Warrior None for season two.
>> So, this is one I actually wanted to look at because it looks kind of cool. >> I mixed on it. I watched it. >> Oh, did you? >> And I'm still There's some things I really liked about it and some things I was just kind of like, what in the world? And I I have not yet I still haven't watched The Old Guard, but I do want to see that because that looks really cool, too. >> It was good. >> And uh September 16th, Titus Burgess will be hosting a show on Netflix called Sing On. It's a karaoke competition, so get ready, kids.
It's coming. >> Aren't they all technically karaoke competitions at this point? >> I just love that they've been able to make a game show out of the floor is lava. >> Have you watched it? >> Have you watched it? I have not, but I've heard amazing things about >> it's pretty insane. >> Uh, Showtime has canceled Penny Dreadful's spin-off, City of Angels, after one season. So, if you were into that, >> Wasn't this the second season, though? >> No, they only did one season of it. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm crossing it up with something else.
That's my mistake. >> Uh, but a new show coming from them. I don't know if you've heard of this. It's called Moonbase 8. No. So, it's about a guy about three astronauts that are kind of subpar in their industry and they're living in a moonbased simulator in hopes of being chose to go to the actual moon base. >> And I'm sorry, what is this releasing on >> on Showtime? >> So, they're ripping off Space Force partially. >> I don't know. I haven't watched Space Force, but let me give you the cast. >> Okay.
>> We're going to start with Tim Hideker. >> Mhm. John C. Riley >> and Fred Armis in >> Oh, that's a strong build right there. Yes, >> I'm all in. I'm all in. >> Yeah. >> And Fred Arm is in a great drummer as well. >> Interesting. >> He is actually the band leader for Seth Myers, I think. >> Huh? >> Or maybe, no, it's not Conan. Maybe it was Conan. He was somebody's band leader for a minute. That guy is an amazing jazz drummer. >> TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week. Uh, Seal Teen season 3. My wife's kind of bailed on that show.
>> Really? >> Yeah. I don't know. >> Has it just gotten bad or is it just running up against stuff? >> I don't know. I mean, she's almost done re-watching all of Grey's Anatomy. >> Well, that's going to be it. >> And then she's also been watching Heart of Dixie. Didn't that used to be a TNT show? >> I think it was. >> I think I don't remember. Yeah, I haven't watched it yet, but I have people who keep telling me I need to try it out. >> Oh, my wife is all in. Uh, yeah. I don't know why, but I keep think when I hear that I think Sweet Home Alabama with Reese Witherspoon.
I I don't know why my my my brain goes there >> because I think she had a movie that was very similarly titled. >> No, it was called Sweet Home Alabama. >> No, no, no, no. I mean, Heart of Dixie. She >> was >> I think there was a movie that she did like that. >> Well, our our fact checkers away from his death, so let me look. >> Got it. >> Well, I could Okay, but I believe it was Hart. H A R T. Uh, no, that's the actual show, >> right? I believe the movie Heart of Dixie from 1989 had Alli Shidy and Virginia Madson.
>> Then I'm thinking of something else. >> Their three young sorority women try to find love with potential men while worrying about their about changes in their way of life when integration begins at their college in 1957 Alabama. There's a lot going on there. Phoebe Kates is in this. Treat Williams, Kyle Seor, it's a name I haven't heard a long time. Peter Berg when he was still acting, Kurtwood Smith. >> So in inevitably Kurtwood Smith, villain Dean probably. >> Probably. Yeah. Uh Chicago Med season five available this week.
Season six of The Flash and seasons 1 through seven of Strike Back, the cinematic series, the action series that they did there for a minute. I know people who have really liked that show, but it was not, how do I say this, nicely? It wasn't people I would expect much depth from in their viewing. It was more shooting, blow them up, done. >> That's what the trailers look like for me, and I'm kind of okay with that. >> Well, it's uh somebody described it as the A team with a little bit less fun and a little bit more violence to me, and I was like, that's kind of a good sell.
Uh, no major new music headlines this week, but ma music new releases. Uh, Katy Perry's new album, Smile, comes out this Friday. Get ready for it. >> The video the video of it is available. >> Yes. >> And I didn't realize she was expecting. >> Mhm. >> And so she's in this very tight costume at one pump point and there's the baby bump bouncing and I'm like, "Good for you." >> Her and the Orlando Bloom. >> Yeah. I and see I didn't even realize who she is. >> If I needed a reason to hate Orlando Bloom more, >> but it's a cute video.
>> Uh, my Morning Jacket with the CD release of The Waterfall 2. Don't go chasing those. Uh, Tony Braxton with a brand new album. We talked about it a few weeks ago called Spell My Name. I didn't know there was ever a problem with that. >> And although apparently >> although one of my favorite memes this week was, have you seen Steph Curry lately? >> No. So Steph Curry now has cornrow braids, >> okay, in his hair. And somebody said he looks like the love interest in a 1990s Tony Braxton video. >> That is very true.
>> I lost my Just look up the picture. I lost my mind. It was one of those I had to walk away from my computer because I was laughing so hard cuz And once it's there, you can't get rid of it. >> I mean, or is he just trying to find a way to be a 10? I see. >> I need you to explain that one for me. I'm sorry. >> The Bod Derek film where she did the cornrows was called 10 or perfect 10. >> No, it was just called 10. It was her and Dudley Moore. >> Yeah, >> it was really the thing that most people was the first time they'd ever heard the name Boderek.
>> Oh, >> you just muted yourself. >> I think you. >> Yeah, cuz I thought I was going to say that second word. Okay, >> I just pulled up the picture of Steph Curry and >> is Yeah, it there's you can't escape it now. It is now emlazed in your brain. But when I saw that meme, I sw I was crying. I was laughing so hard. >> You know, somewhere Tyson Beckford is just really insulted by that comparison. >> Oh, we didn't mention the feel-good story this week in football. Um the one that I reposted. >> Oh.
Oh, the the Jaylen Herz news. So, there was a kid whose mom posted a picture on Twitter that he on his backpack he had emlazed uh or embroidered um I just lost his name again. >> Alexander. >> No, the the >> Jayen Herz. >> Jaylen Herz. Okay. My brain I thought you were talking about the kid. >> So, the kid's backpack said Jaylen Herz and his number is one. So, a bunch of his friends think that's what his name is. Well, Jaylen Herz found out about it and he had an exact duplicate of that backpack made with the kid's name on it that he carries around.
>> Okay, I have goosebumps now from that. >> That is winning. I that Jaylen Herz, God bless you. And when when athletes do cool stuff like that, we have to recognize it on the show because we take enough pot shots at them. We have to be able to balance that. >> So, uh was the tweet. >> Yeah, there it is. Uh, so that's >> number two, not number one. I apologize. >> Correct. Uh, when everyone thinks your kid is there, let me go ahead and jump. >> So, you see, you saw that, right, General? >> Yes. Yes, I'm seeing it.
>> Oops. Stop. Stop. Stop. >> So, he had the same way. Done with the kids name. >> The same exact backpack. >> Yeah. And I And I still reiterate my statement of no, I'm supposed to hate the Eagles. And I'm not crying. You're crying. We can hate the eagles. We just can't hate him. >> I will accept that. >> That's being a human. That's what we need more of in this world. >> No, that that's not all heroes wear capes. That's that's what that is right there. >> You know, I was thinking about it today.
We'll be doing uh tomorrow. Tomorrow at 3:30 Eastern, we'll be doing the podcast. The shirt I want to wear, I can't wear. >> Why? >> Because I was going to wear my Adam Cole >> Baby >> t-shirt and I can't do that. Well, you can. It's after the fact. >> No, but I would still be turning my back on my leader. >> I have to wait. I'm not scripted, though. >> I know, but I got to hashtag for the brand. >> Shush. Don't tell me that's scripted. Shush. >> Uh, also, uh, let's see. Oh, and Tootses and the MLS are back this week with a brand new album called Got to Be Tough.
I like them. They've been around forever. >> I I apologize. I've actually never heard of them. Oh, they're they're I think you would call them world music. >> Okay. >> They're very they're very not mainstream. >> Okay. >> But they're awesome. It's got kind of >> I'll have to look that up. >> Yeah, it's got kind of a a Caribbean vibe to it. A lot of their stuff. >> Oh, and you know that's my wheelhouse. So, >> they've actually been on Sesame Street before. >> That's a bonus. >> Man, I don't want to do this next story.
Uh >> oh. because we're getting into movie talk now. >> Oh, I figured we were getting into movie talk. I got that one locked down, but I don't know where you're going with what you don't want to talk about. >> There are certain properties in this world, especially certain properties that have ties to this show. >> Please define what use of properties you're using. >> I'm getting there. >> Okay. >> I want to make sure I'm doing this correctly, though. Yes. Oh, no. I'm sorry. That I mean, let me go back.
That's not connections to this show. I had the last name wrong. But still, the person that's connected to this film, God rest his soul, is one of those you just don't touch the material. In 1987, John Hughes wrote and directed a movie that is a classic. And if you if you don't at least enjoy this film, much less love this film, I will have to check your your uh level of communism because when you take two comedy greats and you put them together with a great script and everything just works, you watch that film and you go, you know what?
We're good. We're not touching that. No. No. That's not even a rule anymore. And I don't know if you saw the story this week, General. So, I'm going to pitch it to you. I want you to think about Will Smith. Just had a show during Shark Week. Uh I saw the clip on the soup where he and his family were going to go swim with the sharks and they wound up with a shark guide who didn't speak English. And then I want you to think of Kevin Hart. Not a bad guy. Enjoy his work. He's The Rock's Little Buddy, so I will never hate on him.
>> I liked him in his The Upside. >> A great movie. Him and Cranston were amazing in that. Now, I want you to put them together in a remake of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. >> No. I'm I'm I'm gonna pull a rob here. No, no, no, no, no, >> no, no, no. >> Thank you. >> This is happening. >> No. >> Leave that movie alone. >> Leave John Candy alone. Leave John Hughes alone. And leave Steve Martin alone. Unless it's Steve Martin doing it. >> Thank you. We, you know, we saw what happened when two women tried to pull a Steve Martin movie and that bombed.
>> Oh, I don't think that was their fault. I think >> I'm trying to delete that movie out of my mind for multiple reasons. >> Well, I just want to make >> I I want to make the point of it bombed then. If you're not using Steve Martin to be Steve Martin, it's not going to work. >> I think I'm going to be the positive person here. Oh god. >> Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a fantastic movie. >> However, we have only been told it's a remake. We haven't been given any information. It may only be a spiritual remake and they do something that would be very different because with Will Smith and Kevin Hart involved, I'm intrigued.
Do you remember the last time Kevin Hart did a spiritual remake? Not off the top of my head. >> When they did about last night and that failed miserably. >> I don't know this movie. It >> was a Rob Low movie in the 80s. >> Again, it was in the 80s. >> That's an absolute classic. >> Don't know it. And I don't know what you're referring to as the remake. >> It's It was called About Last Night. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I don't even know about that movie. >> Came out like two years ago. >> Nothing. Um, >> exactly.
Nothing on the remake. >> But I'm willing to give it a shot. I am willing to give it a shot. I It's I get the idea that you cannot redo that movie and improve it in any way, shape, or form. However, what you can do is make something that has a similar baseline if you just call it something else. Allow me to give you one of my HSOs from within the last I want to say four or five years. The Total Recall rem remake. You call that movie anything else. And it's a fun movie. >> I agree. Cuz it's not >> calling it Total Recall was a death nail.
>> Yep. >> So, at the same time, this could be something like that. Just don't call it Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. >> But what did we call the remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? But then you tried to make the same garbage. >> You made a garbage movie. I'm not saying that that's going to solve it. What I'm saying is trying to say that it is something else is an immediate fail. >> Well, because >> now Dirty Rotten Scrolls remake didn't work because it was crap all the way through. >> Then they shouldn't have said this is a thing.
>> Sorry. They they should not have let this press release say that this is a thing. They should have said these two are teaming up in a road film and then let's see how it goes and then you could say oh this is loosely based on planes trains and automobiles >> or or even if they'd said it's a road film in the spirit of planes, trains and automobiles >> which might have been what they were going for and failing with. >> Oh this yeah this press release has failed. >> But that's what I'm saying is is the press release has failed but saying it it's an immediate no I I would think it is short shortsighted.
I'm glad that you brought up the concept of reimagining things because that's going to bring us to our next story. I don't know how I feel about it, but I think what this reimagining is is obscure enough that a lot of people could go into this pretty fresh. Uh Rachel Vice, who we are big fans of, uh Mrs. Daniel Craig. She is doing a reimagining of a film from the '9s that Jeremy Irons did called Dead Ringers. This is a very dark film uh where he played twins that were doctors and not uh model humans.
So, I'm interested to see how this goes. Uh this I remember when this movie came out and I was just like, "Woo, this is a thing. It's Rachel Vice. She gets a pass. >> Well, no. I mean, like I said, I I like that they're doing a reimagining. And again, it's not a It was from 1988. I apologize. Not from the '9s. >> Uh they were twin gynecologists and the fact that no one can tell them apart. They take advantage of that until their relationship begins to deteriorate. This was a David David Croninberg film.
>> Well, there there's the that keyword. As soon as you hear Croninberg, you know it's going somewhere. Uh, the only names you might recognize in this besides him would be uh, Genevie Vuol and Shirley Douglas in the original. Uh, 7.3 meta score. It's definitely I mean it's it is dark and it is graphic because it's Croninberg. >> So, >> um, we may not have Samaro Weaving now in screen five. There's some schedule conflicts that may keep her out of that film. >> Still holding on for the We may not have Scream 5 news.
>> Also, not going to debate that. >> Sasha Baron Cohen has been seen filming. >> Uh-huh. >> Filming what? >> My wife. He has been seen out and about in character as Borat. >> Yo, really? Everything we need to know is the fact that Don was excited about that. >> Borat. >> Yeah, Don makes no bones about that. He enjoys the Borat. Borat is >> I love I like Sasha Bear. I love the Al G Ali G show in the three characters. >> No, no. I'm good with Ali G show. The the Borat thing at times was way too much for me.
>> Oh, but that movie in the hotel scene. Oh my god, I was laughing so hard on that thing. >> Borat is not allowed in my house. I had a friend who used to do the Borat and I'm like, "No, you can leave. There's the door. We don't do boring. >> But but Don is allowed to like what he likes. >> Oh yes. Yes. I have I have no problem with that. >> Yeah. >> Just not inside my house. >> What what our audience with the empire needs to understand is if all four of us agree on something, >> something's wrong.
>> No, it means that either something is really really good or it's really really bad. So >> outside of the fact that we all agree, we all are entitled to our opinion and respect it. Did you ever hear the story about him Sasha Baron Cohen getting sued over the Borat character? >> Yes. >> Oh, multiple times he was sued on the same >> No, no. I mean the specific person character in >> Oh, really? And I hear about that one, but yeah. >> Rob, you want to take this one? No, because I'm just not a Pasha Baron person and I don't like recognizing his.
>> And the last thing he did, there was a uh a rally in Washington, a political rally, and he was on stage acting like one of the people dressed in costume singing the COVID 19 song. Yes, you can imagine how that went. >> That's his bit. >> Yeah, that's his bit. >> I don't mind people like Ricky Jervase whose bit is making himself uncomfortable. I don't really dig people whose bits are purposely making other people unaware uncomfortable. >> It it it borders right on the line of we don't like pranks.
>> That is also >> and that's the thing I like about him though. It's like he goes to it like a not this is not political, but he goes he goes to an anti-abortion rally and he goes, "Have you ever had an abortion?" And the guy goes, "No." Well, how can you be against it if you never had one? I mean, and and it just puts that whole kind of thing on there of, you know, putting people he can make people say stuff, you know, like instead of WMDs, he started making Pat uh Buchanan say BLTs instead of WMDs and he kept not even knowing that.
I mean, that's what I liked about the bit. It's original. I mean, but again, some people hate them and that's fine. That's fine, you know. So, I'll leave it at that. We also forgot the Major League Baseball story about the horrible injury the other day. >> Excuse me. >> Did you not see this? >> Well, technically we didn't talk about Trevor Bower's cleats either, but >> Well, cuz that was stupid. >> I thought it was funny. >> This was in um I can't remember. I can't see who the game was, but guy took a 105 mph uh line drive straight to the to the Yabos.
>> Oh, I did not see this. >> 105 miles an hour. It was one of those it happened and it didn't hit him right away. So, he finished the play and tossed the ball back to the pitcher and then collapsed. >> Yeah, the adrenaline hits and then Yeah. No, I have not seen this. >> So, today is DC Fandome. >> A lot going on today. DC doing their own virtual uh fan convention. But we did find out in advance of that as we are getting closer someday uh to the Flash movie, Affleck will return as Batman. >> Bat Fleck lives.
Bat. >> I am on board. My one of my favorite tweets ever was when they announced it and he just went to Twitter and said, "I'm Batman. Suck it, nerds." Is that just >> But that's like almost what how he would do it as his character from uh Ball Rats. >> Yeah. Uh yes, Shannon was his name, I believe. >> Yeah. It just it fits >> um >> like a Batman. I am I am a staunch defender and unapologetic about him as Batman because I know what they were going for and I felt like he did that really well. So >> I was a big defender of him as Bruce Wayne.
I wasn't sold on the Batman. But you're you brought me around on that with what they were doing. So I I give you kudos on that one. >> He was doing what he was asked to do. Well, but a lot of people, especially mainstream people, didn't understand and and DC really Warner Brothers really did try to help people understand it by releasing The Dark Knight Returns as a an animated film, but it wasn't theatrical. So, a lot of people didn't see it. So, by the time you get to BVS, a lot of mainstream fans that aren't wellversed in the history of Batman don't understand the whole bit with uh with The Dark Knight Returns and that was the the version of Batman they were going for.
>> Yeah, >> I still I'm a staunch defender of that film and I believe that the extended version makes it a better film even though it's a half an hour longer. So, I liked all of the DC Universe films. I really did. I mean, Justice League was what it was. I'm really looking forward to the SN cut next year on HBO Max, assuming two of my TVs will ever have it, but I enjoyed that very much. Um, and we talked about Jason Sudakus earlier in the film. So, let's talk about his lady friend. General, do you remember who his lady friend is?
>> No. >> The great Olivia Wild. >> Oh, yes. It was announced this week she will be directing a female ccentric Marvel film. >> Yes. >> And the only thing she has said on her Instagram is she put up a picture of a spider. >> So there are one of two possibilities here. We are either going to get a SpiderGwen movie, which I don't think is going to happen because they're going to keep her in the Spider-Verse animated films. But I do believe we are getting a Spiderwoman movie, which I actually at one point, I don't know if I still do because of, you know, the garage sale and stuff.
At one point I had Spiderwoman number one. They're going to have to update the costume >> in some form. Yeah. But that that's pretty universal. Um, but yeah, she has dropped some other things that are more direct to the Spiderwoman character. So your gap from before is even narrower now. >> Right. That's >> You want to pull up a picture of Spiderwoman number one so everybody can see it >> on it? >> I can't I I'm excited. I'm really excited to see some of these other characters coming to life. >> Well, Olivia Wild's already got cred now because of the movie she did last year.
Well, I mean, it's it's going to keep gaining cred with her behind the project, but I'm glad to see that we've got some women in Hollywood that want to bring these stories to light that it's not just the Julia Roberts takes on the lawyers. It's let's bring some of these comics to life that so many of us grew up on. And it's not just Superman, Batman, Spider-Man. Let's bring some of the female role models in, too. Well, Patty Jenkins has said she's only going to do one more Wonder Woman movie. Her her story was going to be a trilogy.
I did see a Funko Pop of the Cheetah character. I don't know how I feel about it. Um, I need to see it in on screen to see if if just the Funko Pop didn't translate properly. So, Alex, you got you got it. Uh, interestingly enough, I was having a little bit of trouble locating it because it kept bringing me back to, uh, Spiderwoman version one from their 2020 series. Uh, bear with me momentarily. >> I believe this is the one you are looking for >> where she's sitting up against she's up against the wall >> here.
>> Yes, that is Spiderwoman number one. >> That is the costume. I think they're going to have to do some things with it >> to update it a little bit. I've always liked this costume. Uh, but I don't know if it's going to translate well. But this is this is what we're 98% sure Olivia Wild will be directing. >> It'll probably just be shortening the hourglass on the front, the yellow hourglass on the front. Otherwise, >> because the hourglass is so synonymous with Black Widow at this point. >> Oh, true.
>> They're going to have to do something to differentiate the character because if you know something, it's the spider property. So, it's going to have to go through Sony. >> Yeah. Or we could have something close enough where they work together again to get to a crossover and then just have Scarlett Johansson or whoever is carrying the mantle at that point just taking a dig at it. >> I hope. But I just those two studios are so far apart on that issue right now. Uh movies on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
The um why did I just lose his name now? uh details. >> My my brain is so fried today. Um hold on. I got it. >> It's also weird when we do home shows because I'm using the same computer for both. Pete Davidson, the movie he did earlier this year called The King of Staten Island that gets a release this week on DVD. I've been intrigued but not enough to go see it like >> right, >> you know, if it's on Netflix, I'll check it out. Uh the latest in a series of movies I know Don and I enjoyed. Maybe Jen Ro, I can't remember.
Uh, the trip to movies with Steve, the trip to Italy and stuff like that. >> Yeah, the newest one, the trip to Greece this week. This is >> And I I actually I actually went to that preview. >> Yeah. But I just couldn't remember if you enjoyed it as much as we did or not. >> I I really enjoyed the end the end credits. >> Okay. Because I love both of these guys. And in the in the trip to Italy when they were doing the dueling, Michael Kanes, I I was almost in tears. So, their latest one, the trip to Greece, is released this week.
Uh the Gordon Lightfoot uh documentary called If You Could Read My Mind releases this week, and then the Criterion Collection, a movie called Tony, T O N I. And I'm very excited with the Criterion purchase I was able to make this week. And I think Alex can co-sign that. >> I apologize. I was looking at some breaking news, but uh what was that you just said? >> Co-signing on how excited I was about my Criterion purchase this week. >> Oh, more than 100%. If possible, >> I was able to because I'm telling you, this thing is I don't think Amazon even has it in stock right now.
I was able to get my hands on the Criterion Collection box set of all five Bruce Lee movies, >> which I want if we ever find another copy of >> um they had one. Where was I yesterday? Um um movie trading company by the Job on Central. >> Okay. Had one >> in front of the old Colin Creek Mall where that's gone now. >> Yes, ma'am. Right next to the Planet of Fitness. I don't I don't really dig that store. It was a little too too cluttered for me, but they do have it. >> Okay. >> Uh 15th and Circle back to the southbound side of the service road to hit it.
>> That's the one. Uh I'm sorry. Go ahead. I I do apolog breaking news. Hold on. >> We have breaking news from Alex. >> And in continuing with the fact that The Rock can do no wrong, he has decided to undercut Fandom to debut the Black Atom. >> Do we have an image? >> I don't know. Maybe somebody is prepared for this. Dear God, >> is that and that's that's >> Oh, is this what he unveiled? >> How sweet. That is insane cuz I know at one point somebody had sent him. >> Now you're real distorted. I don't know what just happened.
>> Sorry. uh worth the breaking in with the news that wasn't supposed to be premiered until later today. >> I saw I saw a headline earlier today, but I didn't click on it. Uh some >> right that was supposed to be premiered during the normal fandom and he was like, "No, you've waited long enough." And he threw it up on Instagram. >> You're doing that thing where your voice is getting deeper again. I think you're having some problems with your connection, so be aware of that. >> Uh we go to Jen Roome to to lead tech talk with a a story that she sent me early this morning.
Jen Ro, we go live to you. Okay, so a lot of you know that I'm an avid reader and so because it hit my Kindle and it's a book therefore it becomes tech talk. Uh Christopher Rice's third book in his Burning Girl series came out this week >> and he is >> Christopher Rice is actually the son of Anne Rice. >> Okay, good. I want to make sure we get that out there. >> Yeah, on his own he has become I really enjoy his work. I really enjoy what he does. Um, I've started to follow him on Facebook. He has these bathroom bookstore chats that he has where he has the different books that he has up in his bathroom and he talks about them.
This week, of course, it was all of his uh, Burning Girl series. There's three books in the series. Um, I came across it as an Amazon first in 2018 where a new author coming out with a new series. You can get it for free. Check it out and if you like it. So Bone Music was the first and it's the origin story of the character Charlie and she was her first seven years she was raised by a couple who said they were her parents and they were trying to train her to be serial killers like they were and then she got rescued.
>> Family goals, >> huh? >> Hash family goals. >> Yeah, she wasn't actually their child. >> Oh, okay. Fair enough. She was the infant of one of their victims that happened. >> That just took a weird turn. >> Yeah. And they took they mom died. She was kept and raised. So she got rescued. Well, then her bio dad turned her into this freak show of he wrote books that got turned into movies and he took her on tour to speaking engagements. Anyway, the origin story starts with all of that and then when she gains her freedom, she finds the ability to fight back from all of these nightmares and horrors that have happened to her and fight back to keep them from happening to others.
The second book in the series, Blood Echo, is don't mess with her boyfriend. And this third one, the new one, which is Blood Victory, uh, has to deal with a ring of truck drivers. But what caught me was when I first started reading it, you're in North Park attending a movie. And how many times have we on this show and those of us in the Dallas Metroplex gone to North Park to attend a movie? At one point she talks about the metalman statues where they're it looks like the oil rig and they're breaking up rocks.
So some of those details of course sparked extra emotions within me because of my familiarity with it. But I do want to give it a shout out. I would like if you like the the supernatural psychological thriller horror kind of things um I'd kind of call it criminal minds meets supernatural with a female heroine in it. >> Um not not quite a comic book superhero but more of a come to life superhero. Um >> really enjoyed it. Really excited about it. I'm hoping I can get some buzz for him on it. Um, another cool thing for me is, of course, Ann Rice went to Richardson High School >> here in the Metroplex, my my neck of the woods, >> and that's where she met Stan.
Well, in the book, they have the character Charlie living at a house in Richardson. >> Oh, nice. >> They don't give any details about Richardson, but it was nice. I'm like sitting there reading it and I'm like, "Wait, Richardson?" I'm like, "Oh, yeah, that's he he knows this city. That's why he did that." >> It's like the opening to Zombie Land where he's like, "This isn't a vast wasteland. It's Garland, Texas." and they were all like, he's not wrong. >> Yeah, it's, you know, but it was it was a nice it was a nice to see.
I'm really enjoying it. Um, as soon as we finish our show today, I'll get to finish the book. I have about an hour left in it. Um, you know, so I'll have it done in about 30 45 minutes. Um, I'm a speed reader, but really excited and just wanted to make sure and get some knowledge out there for him in his new book. >> All right, Alex, you said you had something you want to say for tech talk. Is that true? >> Absolutely. How's my uh voice coming through right now? Still bad. >> Still bad. Should I try and drop first and let you go to someone else?
>> Yeah, we can go back to me and we can just kill some time to see see if you can log off, log back on, and we'll see if that helps. Uh, this that hasn't happened to him in a while, so it could just be the taxing in his neighborhood on his bandwidth. Uh, Don, is there anything that you wanted to bring up that we haven't been able to talk about so far? >> Not really. Uh, I mean, we brought up the tap talk and stuff like that, movies. I mean, um, the big question I've been hearing is, you know, with Cinear do, I mean, AMC doing the 15 cents that one day, you know, is it too early to open up theaters and how do people feel about doing it?
>> Is opening this week and so is the the Alamo opened on Thursday? >> Yeah. >> Um, I I'm still not there. I'm sure I will get there eventually. I know this Wednesday is drive-in night >> because this this Wednesday is the final installment in the series uh that Michael B. Jordan has been doing. So, I will be down at the Galaxy Wednesday night for Coming to America. So, I'm very excited about that. Alex is back. >> All right. How are we sounding right now? >> It's about the same. I think it's your bandwidth at the house.
>> That's a distinct possibility. >> It's not It's not what it was when we started. >> Well, hopefully I can get through this little segment uh for tech talk. We have had some leaks regarding the new Xbox Series X and the lesser expected Xbox Series S releasing at the same time. Uh, a lot of leaks based on what's going into stores and warranties popping up on the site shows that your drop date will be November 5th. >> Okay. >> Uh, on top of that, it looks like the Series X is going to have a pretty high price tag of 599 going up against the expected $4.99 of the PlayStation 5, but they haven't said whether or not that is a special first run or if that is what the price point of the Series X is going to be.
The Series S, however, is going to be going for about half that and >> that is probably my price point will be because I want that 4K player. >> I'm sorry. >> I said that's probably about where my price point's going to be because I want that 4K player. >> The the 600. >> No, the the lower of the two. >> It doesn't have a 4K player on the lower price point. That's the point of the Series S is there's actually no drive. >> Oh, so that's the non digital uh if you or the non it's all digital. >> Correct.
And if I go ahead, if you want your comparison based on what the two differences are going to be besides the price point, here is your breakdown side by side. So, it's not as powerful. Has some still good computing power. Um, and would still be able >> Teraflops, >> excuse me. >> I'm just looking at I've never seen teraflop applied to a game system before. >> Well, because it is essentially a computer system at this point. So, >> right. No, absolutely. >> Yeah. Um, but I I can honestly say that I will be probably sucking up for the Series X because I'm not shelling out that kind of cash unless two weeks from now goes really well.
>> Fair enough. >> In which case, there will be just $600 set aside for that. U, but it does have a lot of comparables. One of the big things they've been talking about is being able to play every Xbox game going through while also having the upscale of the new systems. So, uh, the Series S is going to be the big, uh, undercut, while the A series X far exceeds the PS5's power. >> Why don't we have storage on the Series S? >> I believe they're going to be selling just external on that. >> Cuz I thought story we did a few weeks a few months ago, was that you couldn't use it because of the processing speed.
They didn't want you using an external. >> That was the PlayStation, >> was it? Okay. >> Yeah. No, that was the PlayStation where we were trying to figure out the storage problems. >> 2.4 gigs a second uncompressed. >> Mhm. How cool is that? >> We live in >> Yeah. And and yet they keep wanting to talk about the PlayStation 5 that doesn't even compare to this. >> Dear God, man, I love technology. >> I just don't know. I I I've got to The whole reason I wanted it was for the 4K drive so I could use it in the bedroom.
I see a puppy. There's one right behind you. >> A >> Yeah, I'm I'm sitting in front of the chair. So, >> ah I can't see which one that was, though. >> It feels like Bella. She's too skinny. >> Okay. Well, there's a reason we call Gracie Chungle. >> Yeah, >> that's the That's a word. That was That was a different thing. I'm sorry. There was a word there was a there was some word play earlier on our our who needs sleep conference call this morning. I'll have to tell you later. >> Anything else that we're missing this week, kids?
