Oh yeah!
For posterity sake it is 6-11 on the east coast.
It is 3-11 on the west coast.
It is the 19th of August in the year of our Lord 2018.
It is, I've lost my track, season 9, episode 6, 453 times.
This voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse Podcast.
Live to tape every Sunday nights.
Welcome.
My name is Rob by the Executive Producer of the Clubhouse Podcast and only one month
to Summer Left and it is still hotter than Blue Blazes.
My co-host Chad is not with us tonight, he is under the Weather Chad, get back together
and get it all healthy and come back soon.
Hopefully we will see you on next week's show.
It is Summer Slams Sunday, we're on a little bit earlier than normal because the pay-per-view
starts earlier than normal, I guess that's the abnormal now.
So let's go around the room clock wise sitting to actually standing to my left and it's
throwing me off because he's not where he normally is, L.A. is here and the microphones
over there sir.
Here I am people, your boy is back.
Next to him is the official fact checker of this show and a man who is wearing a shirt
with a beaver on it.
You may know him as Fondango but his mama named him Don Ford, I'm going to call him Don Ford.
I have a new worker that just came from Arizona and she first called it Boussees.
She thought it was Boussees.
That's the first time I've heard that.
B-U-C-E-E-S Boussees.
Boussees.
Hey real fast, we got to think anime fast from yesterday.
We had a great time to show you how it doused him and fast him down.
So much fun looking forward to doing it again next year.
What an experience that was.
It was awesome.
Yeah, they were really nice just a great time out there.
Oh, did you enjoy getting some Boussees?
Yeah.
And Bucky's wants to be a sponsor of this show.
We're totally okay with it.
Don't get me wrong.
Boussees, as we move around the room, I can't see him because he's on the other side
of my monitor.
But Greg is here.
How are you, sir?
Doing good.
Next to him is the other half of the two guys with the wrestling shirts in the room because
he is walking with Elias.
Even though he just now stood up, Russ is here.
What's going on, brother?
Hey, hey, we're walking and talking.
One more around the room and with the truest shirt he may have ever worn in my presence.
It's 22 years of friendship.
Doc is here.
Oh, I'm just going to have my action.
He just got it all right there.
And right now, the day is the newest member of the cast and a man who just has decided
the wheels will never be on Alex is here.
What's going on, brother?
I didn't even know there were wheels at that point.
We've always said we drive on axle.
Greg Bucky board, babe.
In general, I'm not with us tonight.
She's had some other things going on.
Charlotte's not with us tonight either.
And Steven also not with us tonight.
Although there's a lot of people here, we're still running on a skeleton crew, which is
really weird.
Hey, guys, tonight, tonight, apparently.
We did all the corrections and updates yesterday.
So let's just get into the point standings.
Is this after or before the prelim?
This is going into today.
I'm not counting because we've only seen one match so far today, so it's not going to
matter, which, by the way, I got more points than all of you on that match.
Thank you very much.
Congratulations.
Doc at minus 44.
9999.
But you were five.
No, I didn't realize I was in the splash zone.
You were 500 extreme rules.
You had six and six.
Gen Rome is next at minus 21.
She is.
She also had six and six extreme rules.
I am two points ahead of her at minus 19.
I went eight and four at extreme rules, but I lost some points because I called shenanigans
on the Rusev match.
Don, don't talk on that so hard because it will come out of there.
LA is six points ahead of me at minus 13, when 9 and 3 at extreme rules, nicely done, sir.
Alex is five points ahead of him at minus eight, and Alex went seven and five at extreme
rules.
Now let's get above board, Don currently in fourth at eight points.
It's a point zero, three, zero, wouldn't percentage.
He was seven and five at extreme rules.
Chad and Andrew are tied at 12.
That's a zero, four, five, win percentage.
Chad went eight and four.
Andrew did the best.
He went 10 and two at extreme rules.
I'm waiting on the rest of this list.
I don't care what anybody says.
Andrew is actually out of town, and he is laid up with some knee pain, so we hope he gets
better soon.
Let me just text him real quick before we get to the picks and remind him I need the rest
because he gave me his pre-shows picks because I need them.
I haven't heard the rest yet, so let me text him real quick.
Got that take.
I guess drum roll, and when they four point lead is Steven, he went six and six at extreme
rules.
He's at 16 points.
So it's still anybody's game, at least half the people in any of these games.
True.
Cedric Alexander retains.
Okay, so I will handle that here in a minute, and I believe I had, did I have that
by pinfall as well?
Nope.
I went the other way with it.
So now I'm back at even.
Tell me your plus one, I guess.
Alright, so grades from extreme rules, I gave it a D plus.
I can't really give it any improvement.
That was not a good pay-per-view.
Chad said a C. Don, you gave it a C plus.
What thoughts now?
C minus.
Alright, LA, you said C minus.
I'm going to stick with it.
Alright, and Alex, you said B minus.
I'm dropping that to a D plus.
It was a bad, it was a bad one.
It was bad.
I had high hopes, and they were all ruined.
Alright, so let's change up the music a little bit as we start the week that was.
Jim the Anvil Knight Heart passed away since we last got together.
Sad.
Yeah, I mean-
I remember watching him as a kid, but it was 53.
Stampede wrestling as a kid watching him.
I think it was 63.
Is he 63?
Yeah, 63.
63, okay.
Okay, more important about that, the guy was a cowboy.
He was the Dallas Cowboy.
Yeah.
Was he?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He had a stint with the Dallas Cowboys back in the late 70s.
Yeah, he did.
Yeah.
We'll do it later.
Hold on to it.
We'll do it later.
We have a very special announcement for you later.
Special announcement for these guys.
But he was one of those guys, probably even though a great heal, I would say, as a heal
underrated, because he was a tag team guy.
He did some solo work, but he was always better as part of the Heart Foundation.
He just was.
But from all accounts, an amazing family man, our heart goes out to Nadi, you know, from
a strong family, loved everything about the business, loved his family, and first
out Hall of Famer, my personal friend.
You can't say nothing bad about that.
You can't always be in a solid human being.
Why wasn't the Heart Foundation put in a Hall of Famer by now?
There's a lot of issues with that.
But the Heart Family in general was painful to deal with, and I think it was what he's
trying to say.
Part of it's part of the whole Owen thing, yeah.
But our...
I mean, Bret Hart being in it, I mean, forget the Heart Foundation.
I think that was the first step in a bigger process, getting bred in.
But our best to the Night Heart Family, the Heart Family, all of the family and friends
for everybody.
Let's just take a minute and just give our best to them, because we're going to talk
about that when it comes to raw.
He also happened to spend some time with the Raiders.
Alright, let's get into the week that was in our sport.
So Miss and Misses, now renewed for season two, if you missed that amount, cement on
smackdown.
The most must see superstar, WWE history pastures.
What are the reasons?
What are the ratings?
I have no idea.
I'm not paying enough attention to care.
Higher than anything else, the show.
But in interesting news that we talked about in pre-show, LA, before you got here, there's
a series on Netflix that's called The Toys That Made Us, and every episode is a documentary
about an individual toy.
They are doing an episode just on WWE Action Figures, so I'm very much looking forward
to that.
It's going to be pretty neat.
Matt Hardy is going to be taking some time off to heal some injuries, but he may not
be back.
He said he's going to evaluate where he's at, but the company has already said if he does
not return to the ring, they want him to learn how to be a producer and go on the road.
I did see his recent Instagram post where he is showing, wearing a suit and doing some
backstage at home.
I think he'd be great at it.
I really do.
He gets this business.
He always has.
First show of Miz and Mrs. was a .58 on the 18 to 49 with 1.47 million viewers, Toro
Bellas, .33, so he almost doubled them and triple impact.
But you know, let's talk real, a raw real quick.
I don't understand why we didn't have a cold open for Anvil.
Yeah, I didn't get that.
I didn't like it.
I like what they did do later on in the show, but I didn't like that we didn't.
Not only do we not get a cold open for the Anvil, my other problem was why did we have
to use it, taking Natty and then turn it into a promo for Summerslam.
I felt that wasn't bad taste.
I had a bigger issue that Natty wasn't involved at all because, but I understand she's
probably grieving at that point.
But having Rhonda come out and doing the spot, that was weird.
It was uncomfortable.
And for Natty, I'm going to win the tie.
Like no, like just, if you want to come out and do the bit and talk about fathers and
their daughters, I'm cool.
But to turn that into a promo for the pay-per-view, I thought was in bad taste.
Now, are do you think this possible that they're moving away from the cold opening all together?
Because if you notice some of the lesser tear, yeah, but here's the thing.
How does he not get a 10-bell salute?
How does Jim the Anvil not get a 10-bell salute?
I thought it was done in poor taste.
I almost wonder if there's something with Nightheart that he took Oh Inside.
But that's the debate.
But they still did the very best.
Oh, I understand.
There's some people who've been in the business 40 years and are they going to do a 10-bell
for all those people who, when you get the old timer who is like, they're in the 70s
and 80s.
Like, okay, if all the Anderson was to die this week, that's a whole different issue.
I keep you a whole list of old timers and they passed away and all it gets a little thing
at the beginning.
Yeah, but it's hard to compare that because Nightheart, the Anvil, number one, his daughter's
in the company.
Yeah, I'm sure.
Number two, there's a lot of people in that arena who knew who he was.
Yeah.
So, yes, you do the 10-bell salute for him because he has relevance.
And I believe that because he has a daughter that makes her a second generation, any type
of generational, the only thing I can think of is if Nadi said, I don't want it.
That's the only thing I can say.
If Nadi said she didn't want it to happen, then I would, I'd have to respect that.
Yeah, I also wonder if they're cutting it off as if you're a Hall of Famer 10-bell salute.
If you're not, we'll acknowledge you with a video package where we're not going to go
the full nine.
Just for a clean line to say, look, we want to do that for everybody.
But we have so much show to work with.
We got a factor.
I mean, to make sure that that is possible with theory.
Maybe.
I don't know.
Rousey is getting better, but man, that journey's still got a long way to go.
You mean a female version of Randy Orton?
Yeah.
Get Randy a little, actually.
Randy has an edge on the outside of the arena.
Yeah.
I really did, I thought Renee did good work.
It's kind of polarizing.
A lot of people didn't.
I thought she was fine.
I did like her jacket, but she has more than earned this shot and I could not be happier
that she got the shot the announce table.
I don't want to say yes yet.
I want to see more.
She's a great interviewer.
I'm the first to say that, even with the list, but she didn't know about it.
I told you about it.
Yeah, but I know it's it.
But the announcing, it's a different ball game and she needs a lot of work and I understand
why they want to do this.
It's a step in a journey.
I know.
It's a step in a journey and I really believe that she will take to it quickly.
And I think there may be other females out there that could do a better job at announcing
than her.
Actually, I think if you look at it, it's pretty clear or at least understandable.
When she's talking for herself to fill time, she was really good.
When you could hear her getting fed aligned, it wasn't very good.
Yeah, it's trying to be too much of a Michael Cole.
I think it was.
Oh no, no, no, it's what they were feeding her to say and she was like, okay, I'll do
it.
I believe it.
Michael Cole, baby.
I think she made herself a lot more nervous than she had to be.
I think some reason something in her head was like.
She's got something going up on the show.
Right.
Well, she's not getting you.
She's probably not used to getting fed while she's talking.
And I think that's part of the deal because they don't wear those headphones for no reason.
They're getting cues from the back and there's a learning curve to that.
And I think there might be other women out there even retired or current who might do
a better job than her and maybe put them on.
Think about it.
But she's currently under contract.
And she heard her.
But she earned her.
And I think she's more than earned the shot and I think that one week does not a career
make.
And I'll put a bow on this for you because you're a fan of the Beth Fenix, correct?
Yeah.
Because she's great.
Wait, wait, which is why your Mae Young announced team is Renee Young and Beth Fenix.
Your announced team for evolution may be Renee Young and Beth Fenix.
So you might as let's start it now.
So by the time we get to the end of October, we're in a better place.
I'm with.
I have to say they may have brushed that too fast and maybe there's other females out
there.
I understand what you're saying.
And I respect your opinion there.
But my point is, I don't think it's rushed.
If that's the end game, you start now.
Because now you've got 10 weeks to kind of get her into that groove so that by the time
evolution gets here, you don't have what you had Monday night.
That's what I'm saying.
Here's the last note on that.
Here's my only issue with that.
If we're still phasing out cold, please, and we got her coming on.
You lost the strong, the strong horse, which was Cory, and you let him go to Samad.
Why is he on Samad?
He's doing both shows.
He's doing both shows.
No.
No.
Well, Graves is doing both shows.
I'm sorry.
They took out coach.
What are they doing with coach?
Coach was out on assignment.
Coach has been doing a lot of work for EA.
Yeah.
But I mean, coach is going to be, you know, coach Renee and then that doesn't sound like
a.
Another Hall of Famer that you could have to do both.
Oh my God.
Next thing.
See, you can't open that door.
I'm not expecting me to kick it in.
I'm leaving.
I'm leaving.
Oh my God.
Uh, Emmy voters.
OK.
Consider Paul Heyman.
I am not.
I'd normally fast forward replays.
But the replay of his interview with Renee Young, I could not fast forward because it was
that good.
That dude is, it could be the greatest talent on either roster right now.
Then we're going to talk about that here in a minute as well.
And when we had the tag match, I had an idea because I was kind of half listening because
I was at the hotel when I was on the road this week.
And when Cole said, Mahal and Owens, I heard Hall and Oats and I really think they need
to do something with that.
We already know that Jinder Mahal can play lead bass in one of the greatest bands of
all time.
All right.
Put Elias with the two of them.
Let's get this done.
Let's stop it.
I mean, I mean, and let's make a new tag.
Why not?
Let's call it a draw.
And just speaking of Elias, when you're pimping your merch, you should probably know how the
merch reads, he'd be screwed up reading the bracelet.
And what is on everything else and they put it on them.
That's not fair.
And LA Ears Written.
You missed it earlier when we were watching the Summerslam pre-show.
They had footage of everything that's been going on for Summerslam Week in New York.
And Elias was in Central Park with his guitar.
And he rolled up on these two young ladies and he's like, would you like to hear a song?
And they're like, yeah, and he goes, buy a ticket to the concert.
And by the way, that concert was scheduled for five in the afternoon.
I mean, I understand you didn't want to mess with NXT, but couldn't you have done it
afterwards?
Oh, and then they canceled it on Friday.
But he says they're going to give him time tonight, get four hours to fill.
And for Lashley, is it really an impressive spinebuster call by Lashley if the other guy
barely weighs a Bucco V?
Like Lashley, that's a warm-up for him at the gym.
You mean the guy?
Okay, am I the only guy that thought that that was Pete Dunn at first?
That was just a horrible bit all the way around.
Well, anything with Lashley involved is pretty much horrible.
And is Matt Hardy's grey street getting wider?
I think he read those in his hair color every week, and respect to the revival for using
the heart attack in their match.
Yeah, Bully Ringo, Pound Sand.
And that six-man, was that just a segment killer?
There was no intros, here we went, and we were done.
We couldn't just do an interview or something.
Speaking of that, one thing that's bugging me is how they'll have a match, and they'll go
to commercial, but the commercial's just a promo for a match.
And nothing else.
I'll get used to it because it was happening on NXT last night, too.
What's the point that we know the matches are going to happen during the pre-show match?
Hey, I'm already on the network, you don't have to tell me on it.
And love the new look on Ambrose.
Yeah.
That works.
That works.
And that new shirt released to the public, it finally looks like a lunatic.
Unfortunately, by the time I watched it, I had it spoiled for me.
But the way Rollins cut that promo, the way he built the anticipation to it, I thought
was brilliant, brilliant work.
I think he's finally starting to come around where they're going to trust him to start
pushing him up higher and higher.
And I want to say, it's a couple of smartest men alive, moments to myself and Alex, H now
saying he is not opposed to NXT on FS1.
We have been talking about that for months, that one of the things the company needs to
do is move NXT to a broadcast network.
With the deal from Fox being what it is over a billion dollars, they need, they want more
programming.
And so H says he's not opposed to showing NXT on FS1.
What?
Do you do that on Thursday?
I think you do it on Saturday morning.
No, do a Thursday night to take out impact.
It's, you don't get against football.
No, not in football.
So you can keep going when, show it on Wednesday night on the network.
Then Saturday morning before college football, show it on FS1.
I have an unpopular opinion on that one though, I want to see them bump into two hours.
I know they feel, they feel an hour of fantastic.
And that's he knows how to manage their time so well.
I know, but it's, it's one of those I want more of good.
You know, let's talk about takeover Brooklyn four last night, what an amazing show, what
a phenomenal show.
This thing from beginning to end, we were up really late watching it because we watched
it on delay.
I didn't care.
I don't know.
And when we looked up and we had three matches that average 25 minutes of peace, and
I didn't feel like it was dragging, like that's how good this show was.
I'm going on record.
Uh-huh.
And those two cans to close out the show have the best Gargano and Champa have the best
rivalry.
I think that's the top match was, that match was well hyped, well executed and well booked
because the way that match ended, I thought was brilliant.
Okay.
Outside of the Gargano.
Did you see the reply that that may not be how it was supposed to end?
Yes, I did.
I think this is getting to the point where NXT is getting better than it, big event
itself.
What do you mean getting to?
We're there, brother.
It's been there for months.
I mean, how many times have we said in the last year alone that takeover was better
than the major it followed?
Every time.
I mean, age is booking this thing brilliantly, uh, Velveteen Dream versus EC3 should be in
contention for match of the year.
Absolutely.
Especially Velveteen Dream basically, she's good at God this guy.
What?
Notorious D.R.
E.A.
They have a lot of them.
They probably made a mid card built for the North American title.
So that's going to stay on there, right?
Yeah.
Well, it changed chance last night.
Yeah, no.
By the way, spoiler alert.
Hold on.
Let me do my spoiler alert thing.
Hold on.
Yeah, that's what you did.
But that match is great.
Oh my god.
Uh, where is it?
There she is.
No, we'll have a countdown.
Two.
One.
That belt changed hands as Ricochet is your new North American champion.
Also the women's title changing hands last night, although Shayna Baisler said, uh,
Kyrie Zane didn't win, she lost, whatever, uh, but that was a real, that was actually a
really good match.
I think it's better than it had to be.
I think I figured out the four horse woman thing without including Rousey, because they're
going to be healed.
Mm-hmm.
Basler.
Or, I mean, Basler with Sonya Deville getting filled in for the fourth.
Yeah.
This, I mean, that card was insanely good.
How was the NXT women roster?
They didn't compete with the, you know, the interesting thing is, is if you look at it,
if you expand it to the May Young Classic, because they're technically with NXT, it's
pretty deep.
As far as what they're pushing right now, it's not that great.
Uh, I, you try to get Tessa Blanchard, but you know what?
She signed an impact.
She signed an impact.
I mean, once she's up, they had her.
They had her.
They had her.
Oh, really?
She was in the May Young Classic last year.
Yeah.
I, I think they should have her, but obviously there's something there because they don't
have her.
The big talent coming down the pipe is Tony Storm.
Onto your point about the NXT women's division.
Get to the microphone.
Sorry.
They were already milk toasted those girls when they got up to the major.
Yeah, but the thing is, the way, the way they're doing it done, and I want to address
your actual question to its core, they have this habit, uh, because every year after
Mania, we're like, they've drained the well, but somehow H knows how to restock it so
that by WrestleMania next year, they've got a deep enough roster to do it again.
Hey, and I don't know, man, please believe that the truck is right back there.
I don't know how he's cracked the code.
He just has actually, I, I think the real credit on that one should go to regal.
He's the one that's been going out and doing the scouting on a lot of those questions on
that question.
The question at that point is, do you think a lot of the mid carters on the main roster
are getting scared in Mania time thinking that they're going to get cut because they're
going to move the NXT people up?
It depends on the talent.
I mean, if you make the, if you make the Mania roster, I don't think you're worried.
But I'm not talking about the people who are just mid-card extras who might be, uh, lumber
jack or something.
He, he's talking about people that are on the roster, but they're kind of on the roster
just because it's a bigger show.
I think, I don't, you think they get nervous because they're going to get asked if you,
if you put the work in, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Yeah.
But it's the people that try to rest on their laurels.
I think are the ones that have to worry because that's the whole McIntyre angle.
Yeah.
And I think with, with McIntyre realizing by going away for a while and coming back and
he'd cut that promo where he said, I realized I'd gotten lazy.
That's a future world champ.
I'm calling.
Yeah, you look at, you look at fish and all those from R.O.H.
Cole.
Mm-hm.
Do you?
I'm sorry, who?
Again.
You got to say his name.
Adam Cole.
Hey, back.
Thank you.
Okay.
This is Alex Nubit.
Okay, I'll start.
Do you think they should always put these other people who are seasoned in XT and keep
them for two years before moving them up or should they just move people up?
I think I like the way NXT's model is set up because, and you look at somebody like
Daniel Bryan and he talks about this in interviews.
I'd been around the world.
He said it's on SmackDown.
I'd wrestled around the world.
I'd been a multi-time champion.
For 10 years.
But I needed to learn the WWE way of doing business because the way the company does
business is different from the indie circuit, even from R.O.H. or Impact Wrestling.
The way WWE operates is different, which is why they've survived as long as they've
have.
So there's a structure that has to be learned, and that's what NXT really does.
Whether you're somebody that's green off the street, or you're somebody coming in from
a different company.
Most of these guys that have been moved to the main roster, AJ was, he was an exception
because, really there was nothing AJ could learn in NXT, because AJ had been involved
in both sides of the business for so long.
But somebody like Joe, somebody like Adam Cole, baby, be a little quicker on that, Bobby
Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, these are guys that pardon the pun were big fish in a very small pond.
So now they're learning how to be in that big leagues, and in some cases, like Joe was
in NXT for so long by choice, Joe said, I don't want to go to the main roster yet, because
I think for Joe, Joe was recharging his batteries a little bit in NXT, because he'd been burnt
out for working so much when Impact was trying to fire on all cylinders.
Joe was one of the people caring that company, but I think now Joe got to a point where he's
like, okay, I feel like I'm ready to go now, and then they moved him, because Joe was
one of those guys that H has said publicly, Joe will move when Joe wants to move, because
Joe is who he is.
He's also the one that they didn't put through all of the rigors in the classes, because
he even Joe went to Triple H when he signed, he's like, all right, so do you need me to
drop weight, do you need me to be in the gym, and H told him, look, we signed you to be
Joe.
You're not getting a name change, you're not being anybody else, we signed you to be
you, so you do what you need.
The big news, I don't know how you can bring this up, NASA Square Garden, so are you
going to bring that up?
Which part of it?
The cell out.
I don't know, we already talked about that last time, but I'm R.O.H.
selling that out.
Yeah.
Do you think Vince is now getting, I got some competition coming in.
He has been.
That's why he's trying to steal all their talent, that's why he's telling these guys that
are going to be part of all in, if you want to sign for it, you have to not go to all
in, because Vince is scared, now I don't know that Vince is on a level with WCW yet,
but R.O.
R.O.H. is doing it right, they're doing the little things that you need to do to build
that momentum, and they've been doing this now for about seven or eight years where they
had the access TV contract, and then that went away, and then they went to Sinclair, and
now they've cracked a code, because they've listened to the show, that let's take these
house shows and make them into an event and stream them on Honor Club, and now when
you've got our guys that want to do their own show, which we're cool with, we're going
to go ahead and carry that show on our Honor Club as well, they're giving guys ownership
and things, and that's where the difference becomes between R.O.H. and WWE.
No, but just a second, I don't even think Vince is scared of Ring of Honor, or New Japan,
or Impact, or Lucha Underground, what he's afraid of is the fact that all of those people
are working together really well, except for Impact.
No, Impact's getting on board now, they need to know, well speaking of on board.
Okay, looks like we have our third match, B-Team Retains, and I get my three points
back, because I called my pin fell.
But speaking of on board, Impact is on the crews working with R.O.H.
Oh, that's right, you did tell me that, you're right.
So I think that Alex makes a very good point, that these guys are realizing that alone
we can't compete, but if we start to work together, we can get, at least get to the
point, because there's going to be a ton of people on that cruise, A-Ton.
And I think that Jericho is getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger.
Did you see the report on what he pitched to Vince?
I did not.
Okay, so Jericho, back when he first won the IWGP Intercontinental Title, said, let me just
show up on the show before, two shows before, and attack Dolph Rollins, whoever has it, and
then you wind up with Intercontinental Title versus Intercontinental Title.
He actually got the okay to talk about it from New Japan.
And Vince said, hey, that's a great idea.
Let me think about that and get back to you.
Jericho says he ghosted him.
Wow.
It's been months, and they used to be real close.
Unbelievable.
He is working on Kevin Smith's new film, Chowroy was here, and so now Kevin Smith, now
going to be on the cruise to moving on, if you missed the announce of this week, October
16th, Mark the Date, that will be the 1,000th episode of Smackdown Live, two days before
my birthday.
And tickets are on sale now.
You can get those now.
Yours is the 18th.
Why is it 13th?
And Chad's is the 7th.
Let's, Sin Cara has undergone knee surgery, but there's no timetable for his return.
I mean, if they don't miss the surgery.
I like him doing this in Cara a bit.
That's our bringing Ryan, because they need a Latino.
And only one note from Smackdown Live, because Smackdown Live was not very good.
I liked the Miss Brian Vignettes.
They were very, very good.
All right.
Miss Brian Vignettes?
No.
Oh, sorry.
Now what's our go-home show?
So, here is another note from Smackdown.
Do we really have to have tag team champions, these big monsters we've built up, squash local
talent?
That's what they've been doing with AOP, too.
But AOP's not the champions.
I mean, it's stupid.
Here's your trivia for this pay-per-view.
This is the first Cena less summer slam since 2004.
Mm-hmm.
Wow.
It's scheduled to be.
No, they're saying he's not on the show.
You never know.
He does.
God, that's what he wants.
All right.
So, we've already gotten the pre-show match just taking care of.
So, let's get to the main card, because we're running a little bit behind.
I do have picks from Chad, Genroam, Andrew, and Steven.
So I did get that.
Let me get Andrew's picks pulled up, because he did text me.
And this is, again, this is not in the, what I feel, this is the importance on the card,
I'm not gonna say how the card's gonna go.
So let's start with the Miz versus Daniel Bryan.
Andrew says the Miz, so does Chad, and Genroam, Steven says Daniel Bryan.
LA.
We all know this is a setup for D.B.
Come on.
So you're saying Daniel Bryan?
Yeah, I don't like it.
All right.
Don.
I'll tap out, by the way.
Okay.
So, LA is saying.
He's not gonna pin Miz.
He's gonna make Miz tap.
All right.
V is submission.
Don.
Miz by pinfall.
All right.
Bryan.
It's okay.
He's good.
We gotta keep him moving.
Let's keep him moving.
Greg.
Daniel Bryan.
All right.
Doc.
I'm going with the Miz.
All right.
Alex.
I talked to myself out of my original pick.
I'm gonna do the Miz by pinfall.
All right.
All right.
So, for me, I just don't see Daniel Bryan winning this yet.
I'm gonna say the Miz via pinfall because of all of the Miz and Mrs. Stuff.
Wait.
Rob agreed with me.
Can I change my pick?
Nope.
Nope.
We go gone.
Too late.
You go Pound Sand.
Next up, Finn Balor versus Constable Baron Corbin.
Let's see.
Everybody, Chad, Andrew, and Genroam all say Finn Balor.
And then Steven says, Ben Corbin.
Don.
Let's say Finn Balor beats Bayern Corbin by pin.
All right.
Finn.
All right.
Finn Balor.
Doc.
Finn and there will be a demon sighting.
We told Doc that there's no points on the line for that.
I was betting 50 points.
He was going to bet 50 points.
It wasn't letting me because it's for your own good.
The worst part is if he gets that right, he's still in love with it.
It wasn't because he comes out in the manhatter.
He was in trouble.
Okay.
Alex.
So this feels like a weird one where Corbin's going to be exercising power.
Like he's going to lose to Finn.
Then he's going to say no.
It's a no-dee queue and then proceed to beat on him until we have Finn come back.
I'm not asking for your opinion, bottom guy.
So Finn Balor by pin.
All right.
Sorry.
Yeah.
Fowler with the pin.
No.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
I'm keeping up with the show today.
Sir.
I told you, bottom guy.
Is it power bottom?
That's so much power.
Hey.
Hey.
Now it's the time to show.
Here's my thing.
So, didn't Balor win this last pay-per-view?
No.
He's won all of their match-ups even if it's pay-per-view or TV.
That's why I'm saying Baron Corbin this time.
I like it so much better when he disagrees with me.
And I'm saying also via pinfall because Baron Corbin doesn't have a submission.
All right.
So, next up, this is the match for the Money in the Bank briefcase.
So, this is Kevin Owens versus Braun Strowman.
Greg, I believe we're starting with you.
Are we not?
Yeah.
Mr. Jump up and get it.
Stop it.
Stop it.
Braun Strowman.
Braun Strowman?
Doc?
See, my instincts won't, Kevin, which I know are wrong at this point.
So, I'm going with Braun.
Look at him all the time.
Let me get caught up here.
Now, German, not going on his instincts.
So, you're saying Strowman?
Yeah.
Oh, Jack, don't do that.
Yeah, don't do it.
No, it's a stupid thing.
It's a stupid thing.
It's a stupid thing.
It's a stupid thing.
Alex.
It's a stupid thing.
This is going to wind up leading to me having a question later because I want to overplay
my hand, but I will take Kevin Owens.
I knew you would.
Just be...
Oh, Ellie, you're up.
Well, when you go in one-on-one with Kevin Owens, Kevin Owens wins.
Even if it's by falling off the cage.
Don't call for its fair.
That's an interesting point.
Doc?
I'm going to go with Strowman on this.
Now, can I bet a cash intonate?
Hold that thought.
Hold it.
Let's get to that match.
Let's get that finish.
We're out there yet.
I was about to say that.
I am also going to say Kevin Owens.
In an auditory medium, his face is very pained.
He's turning his head into a pain.
Is he doing it?
Is he doing it?
Are you going to steal it?
Oh!
Kevin Owens via shenanigans.
I am declaring shenanigans in this match.
Should I talk you into it yesterday?
No.
Okay, checking.
Is your fantasy booking from two months ago?
What's doing this?
This will be shenanigans.
I don't remember my fantasy booking for months ago.
What were about to talk about with your fantasy booking?
That's the thing I said before.
WWE is looking at our text messages now.
Oh, that's right.
All right.
Intercontinental title on the line.
Ziggler Rollins.
Chad says Rollins.
Andrew says Ziggler.
Steven says Rollins, but no title change.
He's calling a Ambrose heel turn on this.
No points on the line for that.
And GenRome also says Ziggler.
Ross.
Ross, we're up to you.
All right.
The Ziggler.
All right.
Doc.
Ziggler.
Alex.
I don't think we get the heel turn tonight.
I think Rollins gets the title and the heel turns later.
All right.
All right.
I think Ziggler is going to retain.
All right.
Doc.
Ziggler.
Greg.
Ziggler.
That's my confusion.
Don, you said Ziggler, right?
Yeah.
There's an instrument before.
I know.
I got that.
That one, I got it.
Ziggler actually technically retains even if Rollins wins, right?
Yeah.
It depends if it's my DQ or can out.
Yeah.
That's what.
I won't muddy the waters.
That's what Steven was saying.
Rollins wins, but it's.
Yeah.
That's what I'm thinking.
There we go.
I don't know that we're ready for an Ambrose heel turn yet.
But I think this is the thing that gets.
Start.
No, this is the thing that gets Rollins out of the intercontinental picture.
I think Ziggler retains and we move on.
Yeah.
Because we've got to get him back in the universal title picture, especially given what I think
is going to happen tonight.
U.S. title on the line.
Shinsuke Nakamura, Jeff Hardy.
All four.
Chad.
Andrew Steven.
The Gen Rome have all said that it will be Shinsuke Nakamura.
Doc, I believe we're to you.
My instincts say Hardy, therefore, I have to go with Shinsuke Nakamura because that's how it's
spelled.
It's actually Shinsuke.
Shinsuke Nakamura.
Shinsuke Nakamura.
I'm going to say Shinsuke.
All right.
Alex.
Orton's going to get involved.
What I say Nakamura by pinfall.
All right.
Is Orton?
No.
I'm not convinced you can't call that here.
You tell me because he's been part of the bit with Hardy.
But he's not part of the bit with Nakamura.
Then I will call it.
I'll let you call it.
I was willing to say no.
Because by definition, it has to be someone normally involved with that person, not necessarily
not involved in the angle.
So, like, Randy doesn't come to the ring with Shinsuke.
Okay.
Therefore, in this case, it qualifies.
Then give me the world's most obvious shenanigans.
Okay.
Agreed.
Don.
I'm going to pick Shinsuke to win.
Shenanigans.
So, that's three Shinsuke by pinfall.
Shenanigans.
Shinsuke by pinfall.
You know what?
I'm giving him that.
That is.
I'm giving him that.
Three Shinsuke by pinfall.
Well, you know, he says enough crap.
It eventually gets there.
I can't call it twice, but I will agree.
It will be Shinsuke via pinfall.
Orton will get involved.
And then Orton will turn on Shinsuke after the match.
Did you get Greg and Russ?
Oh, I'm sorry, gentlemen.
Shinsuke.
All right.
Jeff Hardy.
Oh!
The lone dissenter has arrived.
I just, I think that there will be shenanigans.
I can't call it on the second match, but I think that Randy helps him win then turns on him.
That's a fair assessment.
Because, um, for what I've been seeing, I think Orton and Hardy are scheduled for home in the sale.
I thought we heard Jeff might be taking time off to do so.
Because his back is hurting him too.
Smackdown live tag team titles on the line.
Bludgeon Brothers.
New day.
Chad Andrew Steven.
And, General, have all picked the Bludgeon Brothers.
Alex, I believe we're to you.
I want to believe that my boy in the shadows did not steer me wrong.
I'm going to say new day for a five time, five time, five time, five time, five time.
Rain.
L.A.
I'm going to say the Bludgeon Brothers retain.
That's anti-pancake.
How dare you?
I hate to do it.
That's not very positive, sir.
I hate to do it.
I hate to do it.
Don.
As much as I love blueberry pancakes, I'm going to bludgeon by the pin.
Greg.
Bludgeon.
Russ.
Bludgeon Brothers.
Doc.
I'm going against Rico's Oreos and I want to say the new day.
I'm going to be an island buy.
I'm going to agree with Doc because of one word.
Mr. Butterworth?
No, that's too much.
Mr. Booty for it.
It's a Mr. Booty for it.
Yeah.
Sanity.
I think we are leading up to Sanity as your SmackDown Live tag champs probably at night of
champions in December.
But I don't think that the titles move on a team versus team.
It's going to move on a three-way dance.
Not yet.
Not when you take the Bludgeon Brothers completely out of it.
Because you change.
Well, they're going to be out of it anyway.
So Raw Women's title on the line, Alexa Bliss, Ronda Rousey.
Here's what you got.
Chad, Ronda Rousey, Andrew, Alexa Bliss.
Steven, Ronda Rousey, Genroam, Alexa Bliss.
L-L-A-B.
Wow.
We are back to you.
This one is the controversial.
Right down the middle.
Ah.
God, on the same page of you would freaking block listener.
They're going to give this girl a strap.
Say you're on it.
Yeah.
Bye.
Submission.
Oh.
I don't know.
They have named her finishing move now.
Oh, that thing that she does.
Oh, okay.
Hold up, hold up.
No, no, no, no.
She's still on me.
It's still on me.
I haven't said your name yet.
It has not moved forward.
Okay.
We'll just go with the pin.
How about that?
Okay, buy pinfall.
All right.
I will make the change.
Don.
Rousey, buy submission.
All right.
You know, she does not ready.
You're going to be a champion.
Let alone.
Or at least stop.
Go to if you stop it.
No.
No.
No.
Stop it.
I will turn this car around and we will go home.
Great.
Ronda by submission.
Okay.
Great.
Russ.
Ronda by submission.
Doc.
I'm saying Ronda, but there will be shenanigans.
That'll be by disqualification and Alexa will still receive her.
Hold on.
Whoa.
Whoa.
That was huge.
Wow.
So Doc is calling shenanigans here.
That's scary.
That's a bold man.
Alex.
He's calling the Nia return, isn't he?
Wow.
Alex.
Ronda by submission.
All right.
So.
I think Doc wants to get into leading the America's favorite game show.
It'd be negative 100.
It's over 200 now, sir.
Hey, don't make fun of that man because he has goals.
I am also going to say Ronda by submission.
Also, solidifying this pick comes from a conversation we had in pre-show about evolution.
If you want to make this pay-per-view what it needs to be with a mainstream appeal, you need to have a mainstream name attached to it as your champion.
Plus, we now know that Alexa Bliss at Evolution will face Trish Stratus.
And that you cannot have the belt on the line at this pay-per-view given what it is.
But given what it is, you've got to have both belts on the line.
And you're going to have the May Young Classic finals.
And you're going to have, from what I hear, the crowning of the first women's tag team champion.
And.
But I just say, what about Trish going for the title again?
You want to have Trish with the title because she's going to go back into obscurity the next day.
Well, they might be coming back from the title.
You're talking wrestling logic here.
I disagree.
Rock did it.
Smackdown lives women's title match on the line.
Triple threat match.
Carmella versus Charlotte versus Becky Lynch.
Chad says Becky Lynch.
Andrew and Steven both say Carmella retains.
Jen Rome is taking Charlotte Flair.
So we have all three covered in this particular category.
Don, we're up to you.
Carmella by pin.
Because Becky and Charlotte and she'll get that cheap pin at the end.
So all right?
All right.
Greg.
Becky.
Russ.
Becky.
Doc.
Becky.
Both her new shoes.
Did you see that?
Becky got custom Nike.
No, I did see that.
Those are dope.
Alex.
Charlotte working heel to turn on Becky and she wins.
So Charlotte wins?
Yes.
And takes the time.
LA.
Going the other way on your brother?
I say that Charlotte wins Becky is turning heel.
I agree.
To be fair, that's the other side of the coin.
I was thinking.
I agree with LA.
Becky has been saying for years she wants to work heel.
I hear that a lot.
No.
I like to hear the paper a lot.
This is what you know.
Mostly WWE title on the line.
AJ Styles, Samoa Joe.
All four.
Chad, Andrew Steven, and Jen Rome.
All say AJ Styles.
Greg, are we to you or are we to Russ?
Yes.
It's Greg.
AJ.
AJ.
Doc.
AJ.
Alex.
Mr. Styles by pin.
LA.
Doing pretty bad based off the pre show.
So it might be one to take gamble.
But I'm not.
Taken with me.
Taken with me.
But I'm not.
Okay.
What's going on?
Styles.
Okay.
Don.
Styles by pin.
Oh, clean sweep here.
Nope.
It's not.
All y'all can go pound sand.
Samoa Joe by submission.
I want my heart.
My heart speaks to you, sir.
I promise it does.
I will be happy to take the L if that's what happens.
It's time.
Honest to God, it's past time.
A.
AJ's had the belt too long.
B.
This is the feud we have waited for in this company.
But who goes after Samoa Joe next then?
AJ has, they're having a return match.
And I would say in the sell, absolutely.
What is, what if that's why Layfield's there tonight?
You broke my record.
I'm going to end it.
Yeah.
For those of you that don't know, JBL was on the pre show.
Did not see that coming.
And then, and also, AJ did break his record this way.
Yep.
Universal title on the line for the 747th time.
Brock Lesnar Roman Reigns 19.
Doc, we are to you.
No, I'm sorry.
Greg.
No, Ross.
Ross, where do you?
I'm sorry.
I'm going with, by the way.
Chad says Roman.
Andrew says Lesnar.
Steven says Lesnar.
But there's a cash in tonight.
Jen Rome says Reigns.
I'm going to go with Roman Reigns.
All right.
Doc.
Lesnar with a cash in afterwards.
Okay.
I will say Roman with a cash in.
L.A.
Let me give you guys some specifics here.
Okay.
Okay.
Wait.
Roman by pinfall.
And then cash in.
Am I too late?
No.
You're bearing the leaf, buddy.
Let me help you out here.
Go for it.
Reigns pin.
Jacked up by Lesnar.
Down walks Owen.
Owen's cash is in.
With the pinfall over Reigns.
Mike.
Drop.
Hey, Rob.
How many days ago did I say that exact same thing?
69.
Woo!
Done.
Unfortunately, Roman Reigns wins by pinfall.
Mm-hmm.
What's it starting asking for no cash in?
Run out of time, Tom.
Run out of cash in.
All right.
There we go.
I'm saying that too.
I'm saying Roman Reigns with the cash in just because it makes the most sense.
Huh?
Great.
I'm sorry, I apologize.
It is, all right.
Roman Reigns with the cash in.
Thank you.
Thank you, sir.
All right.
So, as the card stand, L.A.
What happens to the famous words?
I agree with L.A.
What happened?
That will happen with Alex.
I'm not agree with you.
I'm not agree with him.
All right.
So, L.A.
As the card stands, grade the card.
You know what?
I'm actually a little impressed that we've talked about.
It's all given to be.
Done.
Generally, I'm giving it a C for summer slams.
A C for summer slams.
Greg, B for summer slams usually.
Right.
I'm going to say a B plus.
Doc.
C because there's no tables.
There's no chairs.
There's no cages.
Okay, Alex.
I'm going to say, as it stands right now for a B minus, but if my fantasy book is from D or B, B.
B as in Bravo.
Bravo minus.
But if my fantasy booking from two months ago comes in, I'll bump it to an A.
Nobody cares about that.
I'm going to say, I'm going to say just a solid B at this point.
I like where the card's going.
You're going to say it.
I do agree with you, Alex.
It's booked solid.
I'm still worried about the execution of it.
But again, on paper, this looks like it's going to be a good card.
You would have put it in an A minus as Don's logic works.
It would be an A minus if it wasn't a major.
Because we hold the majors to a higher standard because of what they are.
Which is why I bumped it down to the B minus.
Or are you just saying if John Cena would show up?
No, no.
One chain of shows up in a hood.
You know what?
If I see Byron Saxon on TV, I'm knocking it down C minus.
Well, we can go back to the Saxon based on the fact that the Cowboys lost on a final play.
And the last person to score points was Saxon.
So?
That just means the Cowboys gave up to attach onto a Hall of Famer.
All right.
There is my drop, son.
All right.
Let's do the plugs and get out of here.
