Let's go around the horn, chat out on assignment today, but sitting in the co-host chair is the lady of the house, and one of two people wearing a wrestling theme shirt in the room. Hello everyone, we actually were almost twins for those of us wearing wrestling shirts, I just changed it the last minute. Fair enough. Going around is the official fact checker of this show, and a man who's about to have a major life event very soon.

You may know him as Igboonu, but his mama named him Don Ford, I'm going to call him Don Ford. Welcome sir. Oh, it's going to be a process.

It's not going to be a process, it is a process. Next to him, adding a little flavor to the room, because that's what he does. Oh, I like the hat though.

Just want to let everybody know that my first radio show called No I'm Right, debuts April 17. I thought that was going to be your book. Well that's later.

And that's going to be where? It's going to be an 8 p.m. Is that going to be on a platform, what platform is it going to be?

I got that coming soon. Also, debuting, cutting up with L.A., which is the barber show that I've been going around getting hair cut from all the top barber. And that's what your hat signifies.

We're going to picture that for the website a little bit later. And that's debuting in June. So big things popped.

And I've got another show too coming up in July called Put a Pin in that with front of the show Devon Pike. We had a dry run this past week. So there's a lot going on.

So, updates from corrections from last week. There is a Sausa tequila and a tequila suarez, but I don't think suarez tequila is actually a thing, because I tried to Google it and couldn't find anything. Every NBA team that did not make the playoffs goes into the draft lottery.

Oh, really? It's made a difference. Yes.

So it's every team. The worst team gets 11 of the 66 ping pong balls, and then it only applies to the first three picks. Right.

That's how that works. The pre-show tonight is actually two hours, but USA is only carrying the second hour. That's why we're on so early, because we're trying to get as much of tonight's show done, so that we can try to watch the pre-show as much as we can.

This is a new policy we're instituting that Doc and I had a big conversation about. We want to get the pre-show done so we can watch the pre-show, and we're not having to figure out what's going on in the other room. Oh, you selfish fans wanting us to be on here right now.

Sheesh. But now how things are going to work from money in the bank forward as logistics we're still trying to figure out because next week, why this is a bittersweet episode is this is the last time for the foreseeable future. The professional wrestling will be linked to the clubhouse podcast starting next week with the fallout of WrestleMania.

We will be back in vocal studios, but with a brand new show called the Cheap Popcast, it kicks off next Sunday. We hope you're already following this on social media. We will be live tweeting WrestleMania tonight, but we're going to be a little bit early.

We've been working really hard on getting ready for the first episode. We already have a title for the first episode regardless of what happens. And it will be a theme in how we're going to name the episodes at least for the first few.

So and that's next week, and we'll be promoting that all week long. So let's get into it. The week that was in our sport, I want to start with last Sunday night.

I got a text from Chad on Monday morning, and he asked me if I'd seen the John Oliver last week tonight with John Oliver, and I hadn't because last Sunday we were doing our show and then I got home and I got to get up to 5 in the morning now, so it's a little bit different. But he said Vince is going to go crazy, and I was like, oh dear, what did John Oliver do? So I got home.

I ended up watching it Tuesday evening, because I had no, I did, I watched it Monday night because I was actually home to watch Raw. So for those of you that don't know, John Oliver has a show on HBO, it's called Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and he always has, he has a mini segment, and then he has his main topic, and sometimes he has a tertiary segment, but not all the time. The main segment on last week's show, which of course was auspiciously timed, was about the WWE.

And so I was kind of prepared going in that I figured that's what that was, given what Chad had texted me. And I watched it, and people have been asking me my thoughts on it, and I said, well you know, I'm going to hold off until Sunday night, because we'll talk about it on the show, as anybody not seen it, that's in the studio. Everybody else has seen this, okay.

So here's my thing, to the uninitiated of the business, I could understand how this would be a, a revelation to people. But if you have a rudimentary knowledge of the business, nothing in that episode was shocking at all. And I love John Oliver, I have watched every episode of that show, I am a huge fan.

I did not lose any respect for him, because I didn't, I mean, I felt like some of it was a little, a little much. But again, this is a guy that I don't think is well initiated into the business, because if he had been, he'd be like, we don't even need to do this. The other thing I noticed about that one though is, because I am with you on the John Oliver bandwagon, we'll call it, none of his footage seemed to pull from anybody else involved in the company, and he's usually trying to be at least on both sides while having an angle.

Well, the newest footage he had was WrestleMania 32, and all that was, no, that was way earlier than that. No, I'm talking about the footage of Shane jumping off the cage. That was the most recent footage he had.

So you're already three years behind. But what did he say on there that was not true, not one thing, everything he said was true, everything. But what about it was shocking, to some people who don't know the business, it's shocking.

As I said, in my thing is, I guarantee you, the WWE will ban those signs. They see one John Oliver thing, they're going to take those signs. They're known for that.

I have not read any reports all week of any John Oliver signs at any of the shows. Because the other argument is you're at WrestleMania, which is the show filled with wrestling fans because you don't spend that much if you're not. So at the same time, nobody in that crowd is going to be surprised by the report.

Now the other aspect is Miz had a really good counterpoint when he went on a local news broadcast, talking about that is true in a lot of aspects that he said. But the modern medical system that they have in place with doctors that has been called into question does have a lot of regular performers covered with insurance. But a lot of them don't get it still in their independent contractors who can't go out.

But here's my thing. Here's my thing. I'll say it's got better, it has got better than from stay with me, stay with me.

Using the term independent contractor, I think is misleading. Because if I am an independent contractor, this means I work for you and I have the option to work for you and I have the option to work for you. They are not independent contractors.

They are contractors because their contract states they work for WWE. So to call them independent contractors, I think is misleading. But that's the status that they use under the codes.

But they sign it. They know what they sign. I know.

Now you've got these guys that will do work for ROH and they'll do work for these other things, but those companies have agreements with each other. If they were true independent contractors, they could work for whoever they want, but they would only charge that company for the work they do for them. But they're using that independent contractor status to hire them, but won't let them be independent contractors and that's the point he's trying to make.

They're just a dedicated, calling them independent contractors is wrong. They are contractors, they're not independent contractors. You're mixing the tax code rules with the job title.

Right, right. And that's why that part of it to me has always been misleading. If I'm an independent contractor, I can do work for whoever I want for as long as I want and I can work for multiple people at one time.

They're not independent contractors. They are contractors. Regardless of that, Vince has enough money to offer a health insurance to everybody.

But how do you get rich by not spending money? They know what they sign up for. It's not like Vince goes, oh yeah, by the way, they know what they signed up for.

They know how the business works. None of these people are coming to WWE, not knowing anything. And a lot of them are actually assisted in finding insurance if it's not provided through the company.

My brother was a pro athlete for many, many years, played professional golf. He did. And while he had to sign, he was under agreement for all these tournaments that he was in.

He still had to find his own insurance, had to do everything on his own, travel expenses. He had to front from money, which is the nature of being a contractor. Right.

But he agreed. He knew he knew the deal. He was involved with the PGA and he knew what he was getting into beforehand.

Not granted. It's not like they're getting concussions in the PGA, but still, it was all signed out and written out. And that's what was going on with that.

It's also part of the reason why these athletes get paid, what they get paid, is because of some of these expenses. In some cases, yes, because in some cases, they actually have things like travel and accommodations no negotiated into that contract. Correct.

It's something that can be negotiated. Correct. I mean, depending on the performance.

I mean, the worst they can do is say, no, we won't accept those terms if you want to work for us. These are the terms you have to follow, but everything's negotiable. But they know going in, they need to budget for those things if they have the right people in their corner, talking in their ear.

L.A. Which I feel is the main reason why you see certain superstars get that type of treatment versus others. And the only way you can keep that maintained is by keeping that independent contract.

I just, I don't want to call it irresponsible journalism. But I think they could have done a little bit more research because you're showing the footage of Austin, hitting McMahon with the, with the, with the, with the bedpan, the, the footage of rock hitting Vince with the garbage can lead. Like talk about the business now.

The footage of him being interviewed by Arming Catan, that was 2010. Right. And that was even before the Bob Costas thing, which was at least newer than that.

That, that is where I was, I was a bit disappointed with the way that was reported. Because there's so much things that you can talk about in the business. And WWE even said, well, come on down to WrestleMania.

We'll give you the grand tour. We have nothing to hide. Yeah, I, I feel like there should have at least been a segment where they at least admit they tried to talk to somebody, but WWE said, you know what?

If you want to come in and see how everything is, then we'll work with you. There was a time that yes, the business was sliny and things of that nature. But you can't, you can't be like, oh, all these wrestlers are dying.

Well, it's because the 80s was a completely different time in the business. And the way you treated the business was different. Ask Flair.

Copain's one hell of a drug. Yes sir. The medical industry itself, let alone, I mean, let's agree, agree.

But look at what's cured now versus didn't even, yeah. And there's a point though, his big point is, you can give health insurance to all the people that work in Stanford at the home office. Why not give it to all the people that work out?

Because they are WWE employees. I don't think you can do it, but even by law, he doesn't have to. You can, you have enough money.

But again, Don, how do you become rich? You become rich by not paying money. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, he is using the right word.

He's saying he can, they won't, they won't. Yeah, and that's the point he's trying to make, and that's why he got the clover piece, which I think he deserved. And you talk about Miss saying, hello, he had a good life and all that.

He's the one, two, five, ten percenters. You get a lot of people like you there, even today, in the use of the exciting guys who hadn't been on TV in months. But, no, no, no, no, no, no.

What I said is, it's not true that if this business is still today, you do what he's been allowed to do, but it makes you right. Everybody be cool. He's a, he's a, you were lying, he just had he didn't agree with you.

Right, and it is with citing guys that haven't been on TV, guys like, I mean, Linsei Dorado, who is bottom 1% of the company, still getting coverage. But yeah, you're right, that's, absolutely, absolutely right on the point. Absolutely he could, but if he doesn't have to buy law then we can't fault him for not doing it It's that's a moral issue versus a legal issue.

I'm not saying I agree with it But Vince is not doing anything outside the lodge in Rome yet at the same time these people that sign these contracts They know the terms absolutely they know going in this is not being offered to them It never has been it probably never will be so they have the choice to go into this industry or not go in this industry so You know if they've got a problem with it then they can take action. I just I wish they had done a little bit more digging But they probably threw this together because it was the week before WrestleMania and nobody would be watching it tonight And the next week's Game of Thrones so all bets are off. You're right.

He's done better pieces where he's much more prepared and things were done That particular sometimes weak if not that particular day. I agree and John people John Oliver I'll come to your show. I'll come talk to all day long about this call me Robert or emailing Robert the Clubhouse podcast and thanks for bringing some attention to wrestling Yeah, you know it may not be the most agreeable piece, but you brought some light to WWE.

I know But I think I need one to help promote so we all are there are conflicting rumors whether or whether or not the Undertaker will show up tonight if he doesn't there's a hat for that if he doesn't this will be the first WrestleMania he has not done since WrestleMania 2000 Wow, there are rumors of him showing up in the American bad eschemic for some reason Because supposedly that's what he's pushing For those of you doing the math triple H officially has the worst WrestleMania record of all time because he is 9 and 13 Going into today So that may affect your picks later.

We don't know So beefcake in the Hall of Fame became official, but they did no video package on raw and it was just a Twitter mention on Smackdown So something tells me that this is not something that company technically really really wanted to do sounds like a favor. Yeah Ray Mysterio may or may not have injured his ankle on raw, but he has been cleared to wrestle this evening So be aware of that Yes, yes, he evening Maybe possible Mazel Tav to Zack Ryder and Chelsea Green No, so that is not that is not true. No, no He got down on a knee said he was finally gonna give her a ring and gave her a toy wrestling and then she beat him And then she hit him.

Yeah, I like her. So The May Saudi show has now been moved to June. Yes, and may or may not include the taker At this point it is supposedly in negotiations.

So So Don you'll you have to push your boycott back a month perhaps I know I'm I'm not rolling my eyes at you I want you to know that I respect the decision you've made I'm just telling you that the time frame may have changed and for those of you that don't know when they did this Saudi show in November Don actually boycotted the rest of the year in 2018 of WWE because of that This is not a bit that we're working Don actually did this and we have said on the show a thousand times We respect his decisions in his opinions So But back at the time it was because of the The journalist that had been I would I wouldn't mind if they gone to Dubai and done it go to Dubai, but yeah, all right some raw notes If you had one minute and two seconds in for the first April full show go ahead and collect your winnings at customer service And They weren't booing already the Stephanie thing was just odd as most are very strange Lesnar took the beat down at the go-home show He took the that's all That's all I'm saying he took the beat down at the go-home show stop telling them A raw tag team title at the go-home show was a was kind of a ballsy move But it had a real kind of a Saturday. It's made a vent kind of an ending to it But it made sense it made sense for the story. It's very So let's go to the arrest segment if we're gonna use like I understand that we don't use real cops But can we may at least make the uniforms look like they've been worn more than never?

I'm just can we try also get ones that actually look like uniforms and not something they picked up at The problem with that is if they use real cop off then that's where they get in illegal trouble They're not if they notify ahead of time, but a lot of these police departments are like no There's no I understand that but New York has New York has prior history. Yeah, yeah It's so does Philip notice but how many TV shows do we have where police departments are impersonated? Why not use one of those uniforms very true?

Why are you guys not resetting for our fans after listening to like what's going on? It was bad Later and remember remember kids That Braun Strowman squash match came after the women's match and Corbin Mysterio was your main event on Raw Yeah, so Friday night was NXT take over New York solid opening match for the tag team titles Yes, and then it kind of faded from there for my in my opinion a little bit Velveteen dreams entrance very tame by his standards in my personal opinion great reveal not so much on the entrance Yeah, and did you see it LA he came out as the statue of Liberty? Yes Let's see great for the fatal for away for the women's title with a terrible ending terrible terrible in there I mean that that match one of the greatest fatal for ways I've ever watched until the way they ended it and it was just such a There's so much better they could have done with the ending than that But the one thing I take out of that is the same thing I've been saying for months that you finally got to see the sky pirates are the future yes and a great main event there Speaking of sky pirates they are from Japan Kushita has signed with WWE So that's a big huge signing for them and if you're watching NXT this week this will be episode 500 for NXT this week So congratulations to them So last night was the Hall of Fame and the G1 supercard It was a lot holy mackerel. We had a lot going on Hall of Fame was a little bit different this year.

There was no podium on the stage the podium was in the ring They removed the side of the ropes that the camera faces gold gold ropes with a black Matt that's where the the podium was the podium the podium was it like a Double the width is normally was yes, it was a clear almost like Plexiglass, but beautiful podium and it had a staircase in front of it But the podium actually projected the teleprompter. Oh, oh that what it was that's what it was Okay, that's pretty fancy That was that was their initial the ones on the sides were the backup shout out to Tori Wilson for an excellent Excellent speech talking about overcoming fear and not letting it control you and Playing emotionally yes, because she found out earlier that day that her father had passed away She was still there they actually because if you remember they actually had her father in an angle Mm-hmm, and they showed some of the stills from that on the tron She did that don't worry. Yeah, she thanked.

I mean Don Marie and Candace and I was at canes, Michelle and who was sitting right next to her that she thanked Victoria no, Michelle McCool wasn't next to that was okay I know she thanked Michelle McCool. I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of this because Everybody on the floor was WWE personnel.

No Real no, there was a section of fans on the floor behind Now now opposite camera side that directly in line was all WWE Okay, however to the sides towards the ramp and towards the exit They actually had fans seating on the on the floor. So a fan was able to get to the ring tackled Brett On the live telecast once the guy hit the ring Cameras went black and for about a solid minute and a half they kept changing camera angles to try to get one that didn't have anything that was going on in the ring Because what better way to try to attack a superstar than a vent or the entire roster surrounds the ring Apparently first person to get a hold of the guy was Travis Brown Ronda Rousey's husband and if he is and he is a large man He is a trained and this guy will apparently I'm not even gonna use his name because he doesn't deserve it He is a she's training in MMA right now, but he had Travis Brown Yeah, Travis Brown took him to the wood shed. They pulled him off Harry Smith who was the son of Davey boy got a hold of him Worked him over a little bit.

They got Harry off and then Dawson came in and broke his nose dash And then security came and hauled him away and there was he was still scuffling and fighting the one that came over and this is what I saw in the video That was really cool. Remember how I said brawn was flexing walking away. Yeah, brawn parted the roster with his hands Grabbed the guy and said you're gonna need to calm down right now or I'm gonna let them have you And that's when they all exited and apparently this guy has spreads a lot of hate to the company on Twitter He tags Triple H and Vince and a lot of things and I'm glad nobody was hurt the new day actually came in and was basically keeping they were playing defense basically They had Maddie and and Brett protected Because they were right behind the ring.

Yes, like the the new day couldn't have been closer if you try to make them closer I'm glad everybody's okay. I hope this guy gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law I hope he never sees the light of day again, and it also shows don't mess with family We can fight amongst ourselves, but you don't mess with us. So I'm gonna get I'm glad everybody that's supposed to be okay is okay Also last night the G1 super card.

We had some chaos there too in a four-way tag title for the ROH tag team championships Enzo and cast decided they were gonna get involved hop the hop the fence and Started beating down the briskos and then cult cabana and bullie Ray came down from the back and beat the hell out of them ROH is not recognizing that this is a work I hope if it's not what I point out they tried to go to town on the briskos There's great video of mark brisco tossing Enzo like a rag doll before bully ray gets to him So that thing was not an angle of them and doing nothing that we're aware of no the only thing they said on the broadcast was well Some people decided to start something, but they're not employed anywhere. So that's not what we're gonna talk about. We're moving right along Those idiots and allegedly That's been handled we I don't have my my dropboard yet So we're just gonna say spoilers and three two.

Don't say the one the beautiful people showed up last night in the women's match and Mandy Leone acted like she was going to be defending Kelly Klein turned on her and now the beautiful ground Yes, and now the beautiful people in Mandy Leone are being known as the allure And they're using the anarchy a as their symbol. So there's that But don't approve they have an umla. Yes, they do have an umla Brand new ROH champion and a triple threat ladder match, which was a match that was much better than it had to be Matt Taven is you is now a Grand slam champion in ROH my sister just arrived my beautiful sister who I love so much.

So he's a legit champion now Great. I'm telling you go back and watch this match. This was a great match to watch Dalton Castle now has gone feel and turned on the boys Much to Don chagrin and overall a good show a lot of fun the match was him was what I mean it longer so not even that it was three moves Yeah, so Let's see JR has signed with AEW for three years as a senior advisor and when Cody was asked why Why why bring JR in he said and this is the censored version because he's Jim Ethan Ross Which I thought was great He says it JR says a two-hour show for AEW is coming in October on Quote a major cable network So and the announced team for double or nothing is Jim Ross Alex Marvez and ex-Caliber much to Alex's chagrin I'm willing to give him another shot, but he was terrible at all in he was bad at all in RVD for doc Signs a full-time contract with impact.

So if you have the something channel that nobody has you can now watch RVD on Thursday night I believe it's freeform. Is that no that's fine. That's free form is what AMC family used to be I think it's like pioneers Yeah, it's like the pioneer network or something Whatever it's executive.

It's been a long time since I was this excited for a WrestleMania This card as a whole If they if they book this right from an order standpoint You have a lot of potential for Great match breather match great match breather match so you can keep the emotions of the crowd and check I am very excited about this here's the problem, okay The problem is that the synanican factor is a better grade than the booking factor of the match I don't know that I agree with that because when you're looking at like A fatal four-way for the women's tag titles, which we never know we never thought we'd see women's tag titles much less now If I were to book it, I would still have a team from NXT involved But I'll take what I've got You've got the main event which that alone even though ronda rousey's got a lot to learn The fact that this exists gives me happiness. It also has power when you do that.
