It is 7-01 on the East Coast, it is 4-01 on the West Coast, it is the 3rd of December
in the year of our Lord 2017, and we are on the air for season 8 episode 21 chronologically
424 times. This voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse Podcasts, we're so glad you're
with us, whether you're live right here on Newstream, whether you're listening to us on
our archive, or whether you're checking us out on your favorite podcast app or just happy
you're here. My name is Rob. I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse Podcast, and we are
wrapping up half time of Tommy Boy Tour 2017. I had a great time this past week, hanging out in
Phoenix, hanging out in Topeka, hanging out just outside of Kansas City. Tomorrow morning,
I'll be leaving for Westerville, Ohio, just outside of Columbus, where things might be a little
bit in chaos right now, then I'll be in Raleigh, North Carolina, and then finishing up the tour in
Atlanta, Georgia, and then back home for about a week and a half, and then I'm on vacation.
It's going to be a fast and furious December, and I'm ready for it. But I'm not alone for this
particular episode, joining me across the desk in the co-host chair, while Chad is still on
assignment, which we are now calling the new normal, is the lady of the house, and someone who
I'm still not convinced is not on a hippie diet. She is general. Welcome, friend. Hello, everyone.
To her left is the official fact checker of the show, and a man who just learned how to spell hippie.
We're still not sure if he can or not, but we're going to try real hard. You may know him as
fond, don't go, but his mom and even don't for it. I'm going to call him don for it. Welcome back, sir.
H-I-P-P-E! Close a damn enough. And to his left, joining us again is a guy that's spent
quite a bit of time here in the green room this weekend as we were breaking down some college
and pro football and having a great time. Do it. Alex is here. Welcome, sir.
Should I say roll tide and just dig the dagger in? You're not digging the dagger into me, but we're
going to talk about it because this has been an insane day in college football, and we will get
there. Speaking of we will get there, I'm still trying to get caught up on all my podcasts. I'm
way behind. I am listening to last week's show, not like right now, but that's where I'm at.
So far so good. I haven't heard anything unless anybody else has any corrections or updates they
want to give. I didn't hear any. All right, then let's get into some NBA talk because we're in the
downtime of NASCAR. By the way, we're still having problems in the chat room. I don't know what's
going on. I need you stream to get up on this and figure out what's going on because I have the
most recent version of Firefox and I've tried it in Google Chrome with the same problem. I think
that's the new normal. It just spins. So NBA standings right now in the Eastern conference
Atlantic division. The Brooklyn Nets are 8 and 14. They're 11 back. They are three back on
the Nicarbockers. Nix back to on Philadelphia. So the tank apparently is finally curving itself
back around. Toronto's run three in a row and they're a game and a half up on Philly, but they're
four and a half back on the Boston Celtics who have one, two and a row themselves in the central
division. But once mighty Chicago Bulls are that no more. They are three and 18. They've lost eight
in a row. They're 12 games back and they're eight back on the Indiana Pacers and the Pacers are
one game above 500. The Pacers are a game back on Milawakay. Milawakay is a game and a half back
on Detroit. Detroit now a back game and a half back on Cleveland. Even though they've lost to an
a row, Cleveland's on an 11 game win streak. So and I guess maybe it's from the Detroit. I don't
know if you guys saw this earlier this week, but LeBron James ejected from a game for the first time
in his career. Did you did you see the explanation from the ref though?
Refresh the air aggressively in my direction and then he spoke about guarantees.
It was that followed by I fart in your general direction. Go back to the locker room or I shall
taunt you a second time. I think it's hilarious. In the Southeast division, the Atlanta Hawks are
five and 17. They're not doing well. But Sharwa's lost four in a row so they're only three and a half
games behind them. Charlotte is a half game behind Orlando. Orlando's two back on my beloved
heat. My beloved heat are only a game back on the Washington bullet wizards. So you got that going
for you. In the Western Conference, in the Pacific division sacramental is seven and 16. I
remember when they were somebody. They're a half game back on Fowennix spending some time in Phoenix
this week. I got to hang out with a couple of buddies of mine that I go back to middle school
with that live out there and they were talking about the Phoenix sports scene and how it's a little
rough to be a Phoenix sports fan right now. Fowennix is a game back on the Lakers. The Lakers are
a half a game back on the Clippers but Golden State with a two game win streak. They're now eight
games up even on the Clipairs. In the Southwest division, actually we're going to go back to that.
We're going to the Northwest division first. Oklahoma City's three games below 500 but they're only
three and a half back. However, Utah's on a five game win streak and they're two games up on
Oklahoma City. They're but they're also a game behind Portland. Portland is tied with Minnesota.
They're both a half game back on Denver Denver's one two in a row. In the Southwest division,
your Dallas Mavericks still can't find 500 if they gave it to him in a paper bag because they're
six and 17. But even though they're two and a they're a game and a half behind Memphis, Memphis has
lost 11 in a row. Is that all? Yeah. Memphis is a half game. Actually though, they're three and a
half four and a half back on Nora one's new duck. Go back against their three and a half back on
the spurs. The spurs now two and a half back on Houston, but Houston's one six in a row.
So we're going to keep an eye on that for you. And that's NBA talk because we got a lot of
stuff talked about this week. Let's get into some TV talk, shall we? Just a couple of quick TV
headlines this week because we are your one stop shop for all things pop culture.
A show I've been hearing a lot about one of my co-workers is real big on this show. This
a Netflix show this mine hunters that Fincher's involved in. Netflix has renewed that for season two.
I've talked to a lot of people that really really enjoy this show. Yeah, it has a really
interesting concept. I have not jumped on it yet though. So I have to check that out. What is the
concept? Basically it's FBI profiling and it's early days. Okay. And dealing with serial killers.
And nail in what serial killers actually think of and trying to find them because the idea was
you can get somebody who has crime of passion or something by connections, but serial killers were
serial. So they didn't have and loosely based on actual events and actual serial killers and
things of that nature. Interesting. I may check that one out. Given that Jeremy Piven is in the
middle of some hot water CBS has canceled his show Wisdom of the Crowd. That makes me so sad.
It's a good show. Never saw that one. This is a brand new show. I've been watching it. It's
it's a good show. What's the bit? It's okay. So long story short, he is this
job, Steve Jobs kind of guy. Okay. And he was married, daughter was murdered,
gets divorced, the wife is a politician up in DC. And he has created this system, this computer
program for out and about using your cell phone to help solve crime because he's trying to solve
his daughter's murder. In the meantime, they've hooked up with the police department and they're
solving other little crimes along the way, but there's a little piece here toward his daughter's case
or a little piece here. But it's how as a as a whole, we can work better and piece things together.
Okay. So the concept and the premise is great. It's just a shame that. Yeah. There's a lot of it
going around. And you know what at the same time, it's good to see that they are stepping up and
saying, you know, you all made a poor choice. And now you're going to pay the price for it.
At least Hollywood is getting that heart right. And it's not that we're ignoring these stories.
And I want to be clear on that. We just don't choose to delve into said things. There's plenty of
outlets that you can go to for all of these stories. We choose to be a little bit more uplifting
on this show. And we don't want to dwell on the darkness. We acknowledge that darkness exists.
And we want to send our best to everyone that's involved in these things. But we are not that kind
to show. So let's just be clear on that. You know, where you think maybe society could be moving
forward. And then you realize something happens and we take a couple of steps backwards.
Welcome to my life.
It's bad enough that we're getting the flora Bama sure.
Yeah.
Four huh? What?
Florida, Alabama combined into one word is Florida Bama.
And this is a new show on MTV.
It's like a spin off of the Jersey Shore.
Oh, it's MTV. There's the, there's the why I was like, huh?
That's bad enough. But now apparently we're getting a Jersey Shore revival with the original cast.
Because nothing do I want to see more than those people 15 years later.
I never watched it the first time.
I never watched it the first time either. And I don't need this either.
This is a whole show that's made people famous for being famous. And
and what's amazing about that show is how people from New Jersey
completely rejected it because none of those people were from New Jersey. They were all from New York.
So MTV just show videos. Seriously.
Do what you do.
The only thing you've done well with your shows other than remote control.
Greatness. Was the Miz.
The Miz was on real world. But he already had the Miz created in his head.
All right. Guilty pleasure because he came to play guilty pleasure.
We got to keep the challenge though. I need that. I need my trash TV.
That's the only I have. I like the weekend rock.
That was always good. But that was part of music videos.
Yeah. And then also the Friday night fights in the top 20 countdown.
But MTV no longer even says music television anymore.
It's just MTV. It's called. Yeah.
They even took out the music television thing at the bottom.
We're talking about these unscripted scripted shows.
You know, these real life scripted shows TV on DVD and Blu-ray this week.
Fargo season three.
So if you need to get the prouder out of the driveway.
Season three of the Twin Peaks revival. So we're calling that.
If you're a fan of Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon Crystal season three set one available for you this week.
Season 18 of the Simpsons available for you this week.
And the complete series. And I know Jen's going to be very excited about this
because we've she's mentioned it on this show multiple times.
See the complete series of one day at a time.
Nice.
Available for you this week. I love that show back in the day.
Oh, it's awesome. I watched it.
You know, the clubhouse podcasts were live every Sunday night,
seven Eastern four Pacific.
Want to make a quick announcement.
Because we hold the empire very dear.
Each and every person that listens to the show, we consider you part of our family.
And when a member of our family reaches out,
we want to make sure that we do everything we can to take care of said members of this family.
This is a young man that's been on this show many, many times.
Not always sober and he admits that.
But friend of the show Devin Pike is going through his second
tussle with throat cancer and much like myself,
his voice is a huge part of who he is and what he does.
Devin and I have known each other for the better part of a decade.
We've worked together on multiple occasions.
And this is a guy that he takes, he knows how to take a negative and turn it into a positive.
And so what he is doing, he's he had this idea the other day.
And what he has announced is I want you to everybody to mark on your calendars.
It's December the 29th and December the 30th.
From 8 a.m. on December 29th until 8 p.m. on December the 30th.
He is hosting on a website that he has dealings with.
It is called.
Why just lost the name of it.
It's on my Facebook page.
Who needs sleep, I believe is the name of it.
It is a 36 hour online telephone.
And we're going to get you the details on this real, real quick.
Because I need to make sure I've got this right.
But it's going to involve people from all walks of life.
There might be an appearance by somebody you know that might do a little thing
with called music every once and again.
I have also offered the services of this show should he require them.
It is called Who Need Sleep, 36 hours to fight cancer.
It's going to be a charity marathon.
It's going to be launched on vocal now, V-O-K-A-L-N-O-W dot com.
There's going to be a lot of people involved in this.
It's very early stages of planning, but it's going to come together fairly quickly.
And the specific fundraiser is cancer support,
community, north Texas, and cooks, children, medical center, or Fort Worth.
So this is actually to support two different cancer organizations.
I know we've mentioned before, there was some support for Devon,
but this is him giving back and supporting these two organizations.
So mark your calendar now.
We're going to be, I mean, I'm sure that will be involved in one way, shape, or form.
Even if we're not involved, you still need to go out there and support this thing
because this is an important cause that we all need to pull together because this is
this is the time of year to give.
It's always the time of year, but especially during the holiday seasons,
I want everybody to come out and force no matter where you are, whether you're in the Dallas,
Fort Worth area or you listen anywhere around the world.
This is on the internet, so you'll be able to access it, but it'll be 8 a.m.
on the 29th central standard time.
So we're six hours behind the prime meridian, so be aware of that.
And then it will go all the way through 8 p.m. on December the 30th.
And it's from a Friday morning until a Saturday night, so you should have some time off
in there alone.
So we'll keep you advanced, noticed on anything, any involvement we're going to have,
and when that'll be, maybe there might be a Grace D appearance.
We're in preliminary talks to get that done as well.
Speaking of Grace D, make sure that you circle January the 14th on your calendar,
because we will be playing live at the profit bar in Deep Ellem.
Probably about 8 or 8.45, going to be the time frame there.
And if you've seen us perform before, this is the new lineup.
We did something at practice yesterday, and I'm not saying what it is.
But an idea was brought forth that we have executed, and I am incredibly excited about
one of the songs we're going to be playing.
So that's all I'm saying, because I want it to be a surprise.
We may play it at the telephone if we're asked to come.
I don't know. I haven't decided yet.
But come hang out with us.
You can go to www.aftonatftonshows.com slash Grace Descending.
If you want to buy tickets online, they're $12 in advance 15 at the door.
Or you can find any of us.
I'll have tickets available by next Sunday.
I got to print them basically.
I just got to get some card stock and print them up.
So we're very excited.
Our first big show with the new lineup.
And I really think everybody's going to have a good time.
It's going to be a good show.
It's going to be one people are going to be talking about.
And hopefully it's going to lead to more.
Because we're really excited.
We're fired up.
We're ready to rock and roll.
All right, so let's get into person of interest.
POIs of a segment.
We do on this show each and every week where we take a person or an entity
and we debate their greatness or lack thereof.
This one for this week is one we've talked about before.
But I don't know that we've ever done it in this manner.
We just finally survived the Thanksgiving holidays.
And with that, of course, comes Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Cyber Monday has been a thing for a few years now.
Also small business Saturday, things of that nature.
So what I wanted to do tonight is I kind of wanted to go around the horn here.
And I want to compare and contrast them a little bit.
I was a guy.
I mean, I want to say probably all of us in this room have worked retail at some point
in some way, shape or form.
Alex is shaking his head.
Don, you never worked retail before?
No, just restaurants.
That's crazy.
I never worked.
And well, you were hospitality though, because you worked at the hotel.
Yeah, yeah.
But I worked retail for many, many years in college and beyond.
Black Friday hurts my soul.
Because it's got, number one, it's gotten out of hand.
Oh, yeah.
It's no longer Black Friday.
It's Thursday.
Yeah, Black Thursday and half now.
Great Thursday.
And this hurts me because-
Seriously, that's a no.
Yeah, they call it great Thursday.
Because people are opening new on Thursday or 6 p.m. on Thursday.
I can't support that because these people, I mean,
I understand that certain people want to work because they don't have families
or whatnot.
And I can respect that for people that have families.
This is a horrible thing.
And I realized that there's certain jobs
that you can't have stop, such as emergency services.
Hospitals.
Well, emergency services.
That's not retail.
That's what I'm saying.
Right.
But retail is a choice.
And we've lost touch with some of our family values.
Because it's all about spending-
When I worked at the bar, we were at a time.
We were the only place on the entire strip here in Mesquite
that was open on Christmas Day.
And we were the first place to say open on Thanksgiving Day.
And now everybody does it.
It's-
I feel like-
And I want to say some movie theaters?
Oh, yeah.
I worked at the movie theater.
I know.
They don't pay them any overtime on those holidays.
Nope, nope, nope.
Now what we would do-
Because that's not the law.
That's a sin.
What we would do is we would always cancel the first show of the day.
So we wouldn't open the box office until 132 o'clock.
So that way we had some time with our families,
but then we'd have to go to work.
But you couldn't move in the theater on those days.
Because we were the only place to open.
Yeah.
You know, it was us and Denny's.
Like that was the less.
Not necessarily in that order.
And now even Cyber Monday is not quite Cyber Monday anymore.
Because you're getting Cyber Monday specials that start now on Black Friday.
And that's one of the things that I-
I'm actually kind of on board with.
Because-
You can put her state there.
Well, not only that,
but you're even seeing like some retail outlets.
That are offering the same deals online that they're offering in stores.
Right.
Which I'm totally on board with as well.
Because you can place your order on Black Friday.
But maybe they didn't work out like Amazon.
I'm sure they didn't have people working fulfilling orders.
Because the orders wouldn't go out anyway.
Because there's no mail running that day.
They don't do their own deliveries now for something.
In some things.
But you could also say, you know what?
You can order it today,
but we're not shipping it until tomorrow.
Right.
Because you don't need it right now.
Like groceries that's kind of different.
But it's like it's all blurring.
The line is blurring huge now.
I want to bring this up.
Please.
This, this, really.
The-
When I was at on the board of corporate,
I went to-
Which is where you were working when we first met.
Yeah.
When I talked to the CEO of Steve Carket,
what time?
And he just talked about possibly opening on Thanksgiving.
Because Apple scums was doing that too.
And you've told that story on the show.
And I said, well, do you want to come in and work from eight to,
you know, we all have to come in the office
and work things, giving two from eight to five, you know.
But this thing was really weird,
which we went to a Walmart on Friday.
I went to Walmart on Friday.
On-
On live Friday.
It's going to a week since then.
Yeah.
Answer about noon, one,
somewhere around there.
You know, empty the store was.
Oh, I'm sure you can fire a cannon through there,
not hit a soul.
Because everybody went there on Thursday night.
They even have a new story.
We woke up a little bit early because of fantastic day four.
I got to go to early on Friday.
Toys are us at six o'clock was empty.
Oh, I'm sure.
Usually that's on Black Friday.
I worked at Toys are us in college.
But on Black Friday, usually that was packed.
But now since they're doing it on Thursday night,
everybody's going Thursday and Black Friday is kind of dying out.
And I've heard mixed reviews from some staff people.
Like we know some people from a gaming store,
a gaming specific store.
And he had made a post about how, okay, granted,
they had five hours that were just total and complete chaos.
But they didn't have to get up at three in the morning
to get the store ready to open at six.
Which is why I also don't understand the people
that are still camping out at Best Buy at, you know, Monday morning.
Yeah, we, what I mean, Gary,
and we're dropping down a Houston for Thanksgiving set
that I wouldn't stay with his family.
We drove by that one of Best Buy off 45 in the Congress area.
And this was for those people.
This was like Tuesday and people are camped out.
Yeah, this is Tuesday night.
Go what?
It's on the deal.
Yeah, but most of those deals now,
you can still get online too.
So yeah, I would rather sleep in my own bed.
Get up, you know, I, I'll get up at the butt crack a dawn
just to get to a sale because I kind of like the way Amazon does
their cyber Monday because they release specials throughout the day.
And sometimes they'll even tell you ahead of time,
like this is going to be the special,
but it's not going to be available until two o'clock,
until three o'clock or whatever.
And if you're a prime member,
they actually do that year round.
They'll tell you when stuff's coming up
as one of their daily deals.
Which I'm a prime member.
Yeah, you can tell that you want to watch for it.
And it'll ding you.
However, you have it alerting you.
It'll send you a text or whatever that,
hey, you need to get on your system and place your order.
It's just I feel like the curve.
We've reached the top of the bell curve
and we're coming down the other side now.
I think I would safely predict that within the next five years,
we will go back to nobody being open on Thanksgiving
because online shopping the last two
Christmas's I've done all my shopping online.
All of it because I can pay an extra buck
and have the people in the warehouse wrap it for me.
And then I, because I'm a terrible,
my wrapping skills are like,
Don's got great wrapping skills.
Even though I'm W-R-A-P-P-I-N-G.
You don't want me to throw any hip hop down for him.
But although he wraps everything in movie posters,
which is kind of funny.
For those, we thought this is a well-documented on the show.
For those at home, Don's reaction to wrapping
was just to do the Carlton at the microphone.
I don't think that qualifies as the Carlton.
This is the white man headbop.
As you said earlier today, Alex,
I think that qualifies as the Charleston
more than the Carlton.
But I really hope that this becomes a bigger thing
and retell our resource, you know what?
It's not going to do us any good to be open
for these door busters because everybody's going
to do it online.
And they have to pay, I mean,
I hate that people aren't making the money,
but at the same time, they have to pay the staff.
They could save themselves some money
by not paying up.
They don't have to pay the electricity for the day.
But they want people in the store.
But you also, I can't tell you how many times
in Pulse Buy bought on Amazon too.
But yeah, but also you're still going to have
the people, the die hearts that have to be there
to buy in person, like some people just,
it took me a long time to buy into e-commerce.
It really did because I need to have my hands on something,
but I've also now gotten to the point
where when I'll go to like what I bought
my latest version of my Bluetooth headphones,
I was at Best Buy and I knew how much I wanted to spend.
And I would find a pair that looks pretty decent.
And I would actually look up the reviews on Amazon
and compare what they were charging
to what Amazon was charging to see
if it was a decent buy.
So I'm kind of a hybrid of the two.
Big ticket purchases I will probably still do in person
just because like if we ever have to buy
another TV God forbid we ever do.
But if we do, I need to be in the store
because I want to see it.
Yeah.
Now reviews are great, but there's also people
that might get a check from the reviews they write
and things of that nature.
So there's some instability there.
And it depends on what it is.
Like shoes and clothes for me.
Oh no, buying those online,
unless it's a store that I shop at regularly specific,
I have to try it on.
It's just not worth the hassle.
Yeah, shoes I wouldn't do shirts I'll buy online
because for men's shirts, it's kind of like T-shirts.
But yeah, yeah.
It's kind of universal.
For men, it's a little different than me.
I have a few more fitting concerns.
Yeah, that's fair.
No, that's fair.
I want to bring a couple.
This Thursday night, I think the opposite of you
because people are going to make it a tradition now
because they'll have to dinner and all that
and they'll go shopping.
And that way, they'll have to get up at five o'clock
on Friday because they're doing it Thursday night
with the family.
It's an outing.
Let's go shopping.
I hate to tell.
No, you're right.
No, you're absolutely right.
I'm not debating you.
I just don't make it right.
And I'm not saying it is right.
I'm one of those old schools
where they should be closed on Thanksgiving.
And my mom, I've grown.
I always, she'd hit the stores on the Tony six that morning
because of the half-off and all that stuff on the Christmas stuff.
And she's always there the day after Thanksgiving on there.
But I think these real tales, you know,
it was a lot of stores were dead on Black Friday
because we're open on Thursday.
And a lot of people are going to get out and go shopping.
And who cares about football?
We're going to get some deals and get some shopping done
tonight and make it a family venture
going out to the store together.
I hate to tell.
That's what I was trying to get away from family.
Yeah, we did it.
We did it.
We, that's what, because I used our first time here.
So I ticked the Fantastic Faith Fjord and her sister, my sister-in-law,
and did that on Thursday night.
But I was surprised how empty the stores were on Friday.
It's like, whoa, this is empty.
They should be packed.
I'll be interested to see the trends over the next few years,
especially now that online shopping is becoming a bigger and bigger thing.
Because I remember no one stayed open on Thanksgiving,
no one Christmas.
And I don't know anybody that made a big deal
about Cyber Monday really this year
because they started it early.
Well, and there wasn't any, there isn't any one item that I'm hearing
that's, you know, usually there's a gaming system or something
that that's the release date.
You've got to get in.
Yeah, is there a big ticket item this year?
I mean, I know that they drop the Xbox X,
but Xbox One X or whatever they're calling it now.
I haven't heard of one from the game.
But that's why they do Cyber Monday Monday after
because they want people in the stores
getting those other items and say, oh, that's on sale too.
Might as well grab that.
They want people in the stores.
Now, I will say the one thing that's given us is some great WWE promo sales.
Because some of that stuff is hilarious.
Got to love New Day and the Good Brothers.
Yes, New Day and the Good Brothers.
All right.
I think we've gotten that one taken care.
Let's get into some NCAA football news
because Holy cow.
So Alex came over yesterday and we were watching a lot of college football.
Friday night.
USC wins the pack 12 after they beat Stanford by a field goal.
The UCF Golden Knights are still undefeated.
Squeaking butt.
In double overtime in a game where it sucks to have the under
as they beat Memphis 62 to 55.
Oklahoma wins the big 12, whatever they know.
They're still the big 12.
Okay, after they shellac TCU 41 to 17.
So here's your conference winner so far.
USC UCF Oklahoma.
In the SEC, Georgia drums Auburn by three touchdowns.
To avenge the earlier drums.
Yes.
Boycee State wins the Mac by beating Fresno State by a field goal.
And a game that was better than it had to be.
It was a really good game.
Russ says he is in the chat room.
Russ again, we're having problems with the chat room.
I don't know what's going on.
We got to get a whole IBM get that fixed.
Clemson takes Miami to the woodshed.
No, it took them to the woodshed behind the original woodshed.
Yes, they 38 to three beating.
And then in the big 10, which has 14 teams.
Ohio State beats Wisconsin 27 to 21, matchup, matchup, matchup, mushroom, mushroom.
So here's what happened today because today was bullselections Sunday.
All the bulls were set today and we're not going to go through all of them.
We're going to do an iTunes exclusive next week where we're going to have all the usual
suspects either in the studio or represented.
So that we can get through this thing because there's about 140 bulls this year.
And I said, bulls be O W L S.
I'm going to Montana bulls number one in the country to really the surprise of no one.
Clemson earned earned number two.
Oklahoma earned earned surprisingly props to the University of Oklahoma for a stellar season.
In third place, so you have the ACC winner at one, the big 10 winner at two, Georgia winning
the SEC at three also earned in fourth place and rounding out the college football playoffs.
And somebody needs to make sure that Don doesn't have anything sharp in his hands.
Don, I don't know if you've seen this in a move that I don't in a move that it's my
conference and I don't understand it.
The University of Alabama is in the college football playoffs and I don't care what anybody
says because I've heard people say, you know, Ohio State was left out because any of those
other three teams would have drummed them.
It doesn't matter.
They won their conference.
Alabama wasn't even in the SEC championship game.
You know, I've been screaming that favoritism to Alabama.
We got to have Alabama in there in the SEC.
Nick Saban whining maggot, but that's beyond the point.
I am not an Ohio State fan.
One of my closest friends in this entire world is and I don't say this to defend him.
But to have Ohio State 5 and Wisconsin 6 is a little bit weird for me.
Because again, you've got Penn State at 9.
You've got USC at 8 and they won their conference.
Pack 12, not the strongest conference in the country.
I'll fully admit that.
But you've got undefeated central Florida at 12.
If there's ever been an argument for eight teams, this is it.
And I believe I called this happening yesterday when I said, and anybody that knows me knows
that my two favorite college football teams are my Florida Atlantic owls and whoever's playing
Ohio State.
Indeed.
You've said that.
The only thing worse than Ohio State winning a national championship is them not being
in it so that we have to hear the complaining.
And I will be there tomorrow.
I will be on assignment in Ohio tomorrow.
I'm going to be interested and we can talk about this next week on the show.
I'm going to be interested to get the get the temperature up there because you guys know
I'm an Urban Meyer fan.
The man brought me two national championships and a Heisman.
This is highway robbery.
This is Alabama getting in on reputation because there's been years past where I've said
right now it's Alabama and it's everybody else.
And I've said on this show this season that it's not Alabama and everybody else.
Now granted the argument could be made that Ohio State's a two lost team.
The argument could be made.
However and I've said for years that they need to do this like basketball does their deal.
You win your conference, you get a bid.
They won their conference and they are one of the power five conferences.
The fact that they are on the outside looking in I feel is a travesty.
Now do I feel Auburn should stay at seven.
I'm kind of okay with that.
They made the championship.
Penn State's a weird ranking for me.
USC yes they won the conference but man the Pac-12 is bad.
I would still probably put them.
I would put them above Wisconsin even though Wisconsin was a strong team this year.
This is chaos.
This is absolute but on a certain level this is the chaos that we need.
It's not the chaos we deserve but it's the chaos that we need.
So we're not waiting until mid-January to decide this year thank God.
Two years day we're going to have at five p.m. Eastern on the Espin.
Everything's on the Espin by the way as far as the playoffs goes.
Oklahoma will play Georgia in the Rose Bowl.
Clemson will play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
The national championship.
Fiesta Bowl?
Nope.
The national championship will be played in the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta.
So you don't really even have your BCS rotation anymore per se.
It's the new hotness stadium that isn't quite working.
Then you have the selection committee bowl games.
Not sure what the heck that's all about but your peach bowl will be Auburn UCF.
So Mausletop to UCF.
Penn State Washington will play in the Fiesta Bowl.
Wisconsin Miami are playing in the Orange Bowl and I don't agree that you play in a bowl
game within 100 miles of where you live.
I've said that for years.
Ohio State USC will play here in Arlington at the Cotton Bowl which is not in the Cotton
Bowl.
Just roll with me on this.
It's not even in the same town as the Cotton Bowl.
So I mean it's going to be a weird year.
Do you think Wisconsin should have got in there?
They lost.
They lost.
They lost their championship.
Yeah, that's the bit.
But also your beloved FAU owls playing in the Boca Raton Bowl in their own stadium.
I have a problem with that.
I was not pulling for that one.
I selfishly wanted them to play at least like the Frisco Bowl.
So if you only listen to certain shows during what we do, you're going to want to subscribe
on your favorite podcast app before next week because our Bowl pick show is one of the
most fun shows of the year because we go through all of the bowls each individually and some
of the names of these bowls are nothing short of hilarious.
So that'll be coming next week.
Oh, by the way, I will be at the Armed Forces Bowl December the 23rd and that is going
to be Army and San Diego State this year.
That should be an interesting match.
That'll be fun.
This is my third year going to that bowl.
By the way, thanks Phil for picking up this.
This is the one thing that gets me.
And I said it before and I'll say it again as I know you will.
And undefeated team not having to shot the championship is a bunch of more lucky.
But you have to consider strength of scheduled on if I if if I sit here and I beat up on
Sister Mary's College for the blind every week for 12 weeks, I can say I'm undefeated.
But if I haven't played anybody because they negotiate these schedules, if I don't play
anybody of worth, I'm going to go from beating up on DeVry and then winding up in a game
against Alabama who beats me 139 to negative 12.
That's not fair and equitable.
I know.
And I still think that each conference should have a spending on limit.
Well, we're not even going there today.
No.
No.
Because and I said this out.
It's the one thing that Duncan who that draws me off sides and we're going to end up
on this talk for three and a half hours because Dodd and I will just chase just chase
around and around and around.
It's going to say this one thing because if you got the same conferences getting a big
money every year, they're always going to stay in the money because they always get
the players to get the money and none of these other teams ever get there because they
can't get the money to recruit and have the big schedules.
Just like a salary cap and football, leave it at that.
But that's all about the pros of our college.
This sounds like so much pros and one thing and pros.
It is.
What?
I ran out of drink.
I just want to say one thing.
But then I'm going to go on.
What happened on the field is the biggest thing in the pros, the schedules, the number
one thing at the end, you make the playoffs after that point, boom.
It's all about the schedule in the record.
Are there any adult beverages in the fridge?
I might need it.
They're actually are.
Doc always leaves beer here.
Doc always brings beer knowing that he has beer here.
But something's really great.
They're talking about the drugs.
Those kids should get paid too.
Again, different discussion for an entirely different show.
All right, let's get into the NFL.
Week 13 is almost in the books.
Let me refresh my page because it has not refreshed itself.
What a day in the NFL, a day that on one side, I'm really happy and on the other side.
Really not.
Thursday night.
I was actually in Kansas City watching this game as your Dallas Cowboys opened a can on
the Washington football club 38 to 14 and I'm going to say something.
That game wasn't that close, I'm just saying, Minnesota over Atlanta today in a sloppy
game.
What a sloppy game 14 to 9.
New England shows Buffalo the door in their own house by 20 San Francisco Chicago Jimmy
Garoppolo getting the win.
But he didn't score anything because it was all field goals as Robbie Gould takes it
out on his old team.
Hey, you got to get in range for the kick 15 14.
My beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers decide they're going to choke it in overtime against
against the Packers at the Frozen Tundra of Lambo.
They lose 26 to 20 Tennessee over Houston in a comedy of errors 24 to 13.
By the way, Tennessee was giving seven in that.
So Mazel Tom to them.
How did my Tampa Bay was actually getting three and still could
cover I got that going for me, which is nice.
My Miami Dolphins, they were getting a point today, but they didn't need it because we beat
up on Denver 35 to 9 to say these in that game, by the way, I had Denver at minus one and
a half.
You didn't win that.
Not even close.
Just saying the jets over the chiefs and if you follow me on social media, you saw
my statement earlier today that I think jets and chiefs should be a Christmas weekend
game every year and I'll let you draw your own conclusion on Zomboye, but the jets
win by a touchdown.
That was a fun game to watch.
That really wasn't a joy.
It was not that fun to start and then it took off.
Except for one small problem in that game.
Just one.
Marcus Peters don't expect to see him for a couple of weeks.
A.K.A.
Marshawn's cousin.
Yes.
He was the guy that Marshawn ran off the sideline during that prime time game and got
into a fight and shoved a ref because of his cousin.
Marcus Peters, I don't know if you saw this, Don, but gets a flag thrown.
He picks up the flag and throws it into the stands.
That happened during the game.
It was not casually tossed.
Oh no.
It went up to like a seventh row and it was really funny because they kept cutting back
to the guy who caught it and him and like the nine guys around them are taking selfies
with the flag.
And at one point the announcers like, are they going to throw the flag back?
I mean, that's just about a smart as hitting the guy in the head who has a helmet on.
You're going to hurt your hand more than God's need damage.
He'll get a nice little letter from the commissioner's office on that thing with a little
bill saying, you owe us, yeah, and speaking of damage, got a quarterback problem right
now.
What?
Josh McCown.
Wasn't that?
Oh no.
Well, that's not even the worst one of the weekend.
Tyrod got a Taylor card off for the bills.
Jacksonville hands Indianapolis another loss and they doubled the numbers on that because
they were given ten.
Detroit goes just hard south as they get doubled up on by Baltimore 44 to 20.
The Los Angeles chargers and can we please tell the announcers they're still calling
them San Diego?
There should be some kind of shock therapy.
Every time you say San Diego and playing in a soccer stadium that they still can't fill,
but they did beat Cleveland Cleveland style now still working towards the perfect season.
The Oakland Raiders because the autumn wind is a raid.
They beat the Giants today at another sloppy game.
Oh, this was bad and then the first time that in his career that Eli did not start tragedy
and done very unceremoniously.
I want to say something that we're not supposed to say on there, but it's going to end with
you Ben McAdoo.
Yes.
You actually said that a couple times today as we were watching football in the game in
the green room.
Ben McAdoo gives me Tourette's.
The New Orleans Saints over the Carolina Panthers in a battle of the NFC South by ten and
the Rams still continuing their winning ways.
They were given seven and they doubled Arizona 32 to 16 tonight in a game that has huge
implications.
So the Eagles will be at Seattle tonight.
And right now that game could dictate some shift in SHIFT ING in the NFC West.
Well, stay with me, Oakland wins LA wins.
Here's the weird thing.
With those two teams winning, Kansas City losing, but Kansas City sells first in the division
because they have the tie break.
And by the way, Kansas City's lost six out of their last seven.
The funny thing is, is Kansas City holds the tie break over LA.
LA holds the tie break over Oakland.
Oakland holds the tie break over Kansas City, but Kansas City's Trump's LA based on.
But the Seahawks still holding on to that wild card.
So if Seahawks win tonight, they would be handling Philly their second loss of the season.
But they would still hold onto that wild card.
Now, if Philly wins or ties tonight, they are the first team to guarantee a playoff
birth.
As a wild carder, the division.
No, they've got the division.
Okay.
They clinch and appearance.
Regardless, they will get into the playoffs.
Okay.
A lot of people are asking about the Cowboys.
Dallas has to win out.
If Dallas doesn't win out, if they lose one game in these next four weeks, they're out.
Yeah.
Because of that division.
Tomorrow night, your Steelers will be at the Bengals.
And that's a rivalry game if I'm not mistaken.
Right now in that game, Pittsburgh, giving four four, there's 75% tonight's game Philly
giving three for Dallas to get in winning out is the best case, but they also need help
from Seattle Atlanta Detroit and Green Bay.
I hate this time of year when you try to do all the playoff math car math coming in.
It's actually worse than NASCAR math because it's like, if this team wins, but this team
loses or ties, it just.
But to update in earlier, just got a report, Matthew Stafford, X-rays came back negative
on his hand.
Oh, good.
So there's no break, but he does have a deep bonbers, but that was their painful, but a great
day for NFL football.
They're showing some of the highlights from the from the chief's jets right now.
I'm going to see if they show the, if they show the flag getting thrown.
The chefs and the GD jets.
Yes.
TTS.
Choke, choke, choke.
Yeah.
This is the play.
This is the play because this is the two point conversion.
Yeah.
So he throws it away.
There's a flag.
Okay.
The flag gets thrown.
He just is yelling at the rest.
He's throwing at the rest.
Here.
And he throws it.
I heard it.
That flag ended up with the jets getting the, yeah, the jets getting to redo the two point
conversion and scoring on it converting it.
All right.
So let's talk about next week.
If you can believe we're approaching week 14.
Yes, sir.
Report on Tyra Taylor.
They believe he avoided a serious injury to his knee, but he wasn't tears.
And I didn't realize we were calling him T-Mobile until today.
Oh, by the way, we were talking about NCAA football earlier when they announced that Ohio State
was out.
Her curb street got up and walked off the set on ESPN without a word.
Didn't say a word.
All right.
So Thursday night, New Orleans, Atlanta, that'll be an interesting one because we got everybody's
playing in division right now.
Bobby or Thursday night game, New Orleans, given four on the road.
I just don't know if that's a smart move to give to Atlanta because Atlanta's kind of
smoking mirrors right now, my personal opinion.
Well they just scored nine at home.
And then Sunday afternoon, next week, Indianapolis will be at Buffalo, bring a pillow.
Chicago will be at Cincinnati.
The Green Bay Packers will be at the Cleveland Browns.
Can somebody say 1113 Oakland will be at Kansas City.
That'll be interesting to see Dallas will be at the Giants Detroit at Tampa Bay.
Hopefully we can get closer to 500 see Minnesota will be at Carolina San Francisco at Houston.
And in the late games, New York will be the Jets will be at Denver Tennessee at Arizona.
Washington will be at the Chargers.
Philly will be at the Rams.
I think that might be the game of the week to watch.
That might be a precursor to a playoff.
Yes, sir.
Seattle will be at Jacksonville.
Baltimore will be at your Steelers at a game.
Don will be at next week.
So I expect a clubhouse podcast sign in the crowd.
Oh, yeah.
Now, even if it just says wrestling logic, I'm okay with that.
Here's the thing.
And then hold on.
They finished it out next Monday night.
I want to apologize to America in advance next Monday night, New England at Miami.
America.
God.
Now, everybody, you know, I announcement, you probably heard this already, but I will not
be here next week.
You will not be.
That's correct.
So I, you know, I know the Empire is going to be heartbroken, but so Starbucks on me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's the one time he could bring me a Frappuccino now.
No, I can't.
I can bring a Frappuccino to the location, but not to you.
Yeah.
That's what I say.
Well, next I was looking at the weather.
That's when that article front comes in.
It comes in.
It's an article front.
It's an article front.
Yeah.
It's an article front.
That's what I said.
Close enough.
Here's the dropboard.
I just wait.
It's in on Saturday.
It's going to snow there.
So that's when the fantastic day for might see snow.
Oh, yeah.
That's a fair point.
I didn't think about.
She is going with you.
Yeah.
I wasn't sure that she was going with my sister in law, too.
Oh, awesome.
Yeah.
But Sunday, the days high on Sunday, and keep in mind, this is a night game, it's 29.
So please, if you're in the in the Northeast, please make sure you leave your faucets dripping
on Saturday night.
So let your pipes don't freeze.
Well, they don't have that problem.
Because you build underground.
Oh, yeah.
We just have that problem.
We do that free feed under, but, but no, it looks like that's going to be a cold bug
or me and my dad.
And then you're flying back Tuesday, correct?
Yeah.
Yeah.
We'll be Wednesday.
We'll get in about 2.30.
Right.
When we get off the plane and all that.
Get everything.
Guess what we're going.
A place that doesn't have garlic knots.
We'll see.
Because I need or need or need or.
You'll buy from anywhere.
And I'll be sending pictures.
Then Saturday night, we're going to the islanders game with the pencils can be my wife's
first hockey game.
Always good times.
And they got a from any brothers in there.
So I'm going to have from any brothers there.
And then as I expect you to do, sir, stealers game.
I'm going to have.
They've got one of the stadiums, too, don't they?
I expect you to eat there as well.
Yes, I will.
Okay.
And Primani's at least three times.
That's good to hear.
Make sure you drink some I.C. for me.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I see why that's a big one.
So, yeah, it's it's it's going to be a cold one up there.
So you're going to be out there playing down there at the stadium.
Now, face not going to the game.
The ball.
It's just me and dad.
But, okay.
You didn't want to go.
Yes.
They were not last.
They've ever seen snow before.
And being out in that below freezing weather for four hours.
They're you and decided a freeway for making them sit up there and that.
All right.
And we'll expect the full report back from you next week as well.
I might call in.
I don't know from the game.
You'd have to tell me ahead of time because I have there's wires.
I would have to buy to make that happen.
I might just do it.
We'll figure it out.
Yeah, you won't figure that out.
All right.
Let's do some music talk because we are your one stop shop for all things pop culture.
Grammy nominations are out.
Jay-Z leads the field with eight of them.
Gio.
Gio.
That's much.
It's not a very good Jay-Z.
That's my.
I do like Jay-Z a lot of big fan.
Eminem has announced that his new album will release next week.
It's called Revivalist.
First album in four years, December the 15th.
His performance on SNL.
Me.
We talked last week about a show called The Four.
We do.
We found out this week.
Fergie will be the host.
So she will not be the performer slash judge.
Well, no, the four are the contestants.
Well, but there's four judges.
There's four judges.
When you've heard you the four, it's the four contestants.
Mariah Carey has postponed her Christmas tour.
She has an upper respiratory infection and she has underdoctor's orders.
I was supposed to take place this week.
Are we sure she just didn't forget the words?
When I went and saw, was she open for Lionel Richie?
She had them on a screen in front of her.
So she's okay.
I do the same thing.
I'm not going to lie to you.
Let's see.
Actually, I'm going to come back to this story because it's so insane.
But congratulations to the Rihanna.
She has a street name after her in her native country of Barbados this week.
And I'm actually going to wait because I want Don to be here for this.
A lot of figure that was the case.
Only one music new release I recognize this coming Friday.
And it's Luke Bryan has a brand new album called What Makes You Country.
Oh, I was going to say, do we wait and play the guessing game as to whether it's trucks?
Oh, no.
No, no.
I just really want Don to be here for this story because I don't know if you heard this story or not.
But I need Don to be here.
And if we were allowed to play things that were copyrighted, I would play this because I've heard it.
Is it a three-letter gentleman?
Yes, it is.
I almost want Don to cue this up on his phone.
Wait a minute.
Because that way we're not technically playing it and he can hear it.
I'm going to mute Don's mic just in case because I don't know if it's all clean or not.
That's what I was worried about.
We've all heard of DMX.
The rapper, correct?
Yeah.
He has recorded a version of Rudolf the Red Nose reindeer.
That is fantastic.
Don, I'm actually going to...
Do you have...
I don't have any headphones in here that Don can pull.
Actually, you can unplug your headphones Don and plug them into your phone because I don't know if it's clean or not.
This doesn't have...
This has the little...
Oh, you've got one of the newer ones.
Yeah, I don't have that jack.
We'll have to put a pin in this one.
Yeah, we're going to listen to this after the show.
We'll tell you Don's reaction next week.
But I've heard pieces of this.
It is nothing short of...
an experience.
Let's just root off with God knows all about Europe.
Oh God, it's so...
It's so terrible, it's glorious.
Like, there's the only way I can say this.
Oh, geez.
And have you...
Had you heard about Pink's new video for her beautiful trauma?
Caning Tatum joined her for the filming of it.
Oh, really?
It's almost like a little mini movie.
Amazing job by both of them.
I'll say that.
It's a fun little video if you can catch it because, you know, I found it on my phone
because that's where I watch my music television.
And you're a big fan of her as well.
I am.
I'm a fan of Pink.
All right.
And then I found out that...
I'm sorry.
No.
You're a fan of...
P-exclamation point.
Okay, yeah.
I'm a fan of Pink.
No, that's not her name.
It's P-exclamation point.
It's just like...
K-dollar sign.
Huh.
Even though she's not there.
Okay, but I'm going to go...
Because she could kick my backside.
I'm going to say it how she says it in just as Pink.
I see it.
Like I see it.
All right.
Let's get into In Memorium real quick.
One big one this week.
And I think that's the only celebrity definitely had this week.
At the age of 87.
Don, did you see this one this week?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, I'm...
I'm mute you.
I'm mute you.
I'm sorry.
That's my fault.
He's the only major.
Yes.
The great gym neighbors passed away this week.
He was born in Alabama.
But moved to Southern California because of his asthma.
That's a true story, according to Wikipedia.
He was discovered by Andy Griffith when he was working at a Santa Monica nightclub.
And he would join the Andy Griffith as show as Gomer Pyle and then give it his own spin-off.
Gomer Pyle, USMC.
Oh, he was mentioned Wayne Cochran as well this week.
Two others.
Okay, well let's just get through this one first.
I always think of...
Remember, he was also known for singing back home again in Indiana prior to the Indy 500.
He did that for years.
From 1972 until 2014.
Not straight through.
There's a couple years he missed due to some health issues.
His father was a police officer.
He sang for his local high school in church.
He had two sisters attended the University of Alabama where he started acting.
He was a member of the Delta-Tow Delta fraternity.
After graduating, he moved to New York City where he worked as a typist for the United Nations.
How about that?
He also worked as a film cutter for NBC.
I mean, you know him as Gomer Pyle, I always think of him.
Please release me, let me grow.
He was always on those K-Tel records compilations and they'd have been singing that.
Great actor and really enjoyed his work very, very much.
Oh, he also, Russ says he also played on the lost saucer with Ruth Busy, the great Ruth Busy.
Also, this week, Russ did text me and tell me about Wayne Cochran who passed away.
He was 78. He was referred to as the white knight of soul.
He performed the song last kiss with CC writers.
He was born in Thomas in Georgia.
Let's see.
Very known for his work in R&B music.
Also known for a song called Going Back to Miami featuring the Blues Brothers as well.
So we got that, Jen, what you got?
Perry Wallace was the first Black Riversity Basketball player in the southeastern conference.
Oh, the SEC, what's up?
He passed away Friday, December 1st at 69, battle with cancer.
And then another unknown, but once you hear the song, you'll realize why.
Mitch Margot passed away at the age of 70.
He was a member of the group behind the hit song Lion Sleeps Tonight.
The tokens.
So he was part of that.
I know that song very, very well.
And if you've seen the second Ace Ventura film, you'll never hear it the same.
Not anything from your side of it?
No.
Alright, let's get into some NHL talk real quick with some NHL standings.
In the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the Buffalo Sobres with 16 points.
They're way out of it.
They've lost four in a row.
There's seven points behind the Florida Panthers.
My Panthers are a point behind Odorwa.
Odorwa was a point back on day 12, who is three points back on Baston.
Boston's a point back on Montreal.
Montreal, the Canadians.
Thank you, sir.
There's six back on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And the Maple Leafs are three back on my beloved Tampa Bay Lightning.
The way Montreal is one five in a row.
Boston, two in a row.
Detroit's lost seven in a row.
In the Notre-Pont Division.
The Philadelphia Flyers.
They're going to have a field day with them, Don, because they're on like 23 points.
They've lost ten in a row.
Okay.
So you'll be dealing with that here in a few days.
They are four points behind the Carolina Hurricanes.
Hurricanes three back on the Rangers.
The Rangers are one back on the Washington Capitals.
I don't give you the right.
They're a point behind the Islanders.
The Islanders are a point back on your beloved Pittsburgh Penguins.
By the way, your penguins are on a four game win streak, sir.
Yeah, they were kind of hitting together.
Now they're turning around.
Well, we're also playing Buffalo.
What's going on?
I'm coming out, so they're getting ready.
Hey, win the win. I don't care who you get again.
Yeah.
Especially in the NHL.
Your point behind New Jersey.
New Jersey is a point behind Columbus.
Can we play a America's favorite game show with Columbus anywhere?
We'll be playing that after the first of the year.
Okay.
So be ready for that.
In the Western Conference.
In the Central Division that has no Eastern or Western Division.
The Colorado Avalanche.
They have 26 points.
They're only 10 points out of first place.
This is a very competitive division.
They're three back on Minnesota.
Minnesota's tied with Chicago.
Both of them are two points behind Dallas.
Dallas is on a four game win streak, by the way.
Dallas stars are four back on Nashville.
Nashville's a point back on St. Louis.
And the Blues are tied with the Winter Peg Jets.
By the way, St. Louis has lost three in a row.
In the Pacific Division, the Arizona coyotes.
I will never get used to that.
They have 18 points, and they're almost halfway to first place.
They are six points back on Edmonton.
The Oilers are three back on Anaheim.
Anaheim, two back on Calgary.
Calgary's a point behind Van Coover.
They're tied with San Jose.
They're a point behind Vegas.
Vegas has lost three in a row.
But they are now four points behind the LA Kings.
LA is one four in a row.
So we'll keep an eye on that for you.
And again, after the first of the year,
we will be playing America's favorite game show.
All right, let's combine our loves for both pop culture and sports.
And let's talk some wrestling kids.
So Don, I don't know if you saw what happened this morning.
No.
Remember where WrestleMania three was?
Hold on.
The Pontiac Silver Dome.
The Pontiac Silver Dome was supposed to be imploded this morning at 8.30.
Okay.
Notice I said the word supposed to be.
They hit the button, and the Silver Dome didn't implode.
They did the math wrong, and it didn't destroy the Silver Dome.
Wasn't it a few years ago they tried to sell the building for a million bucks?
Yeah, and nobody was buying.
So.
Because what would be the point?
The land value?
I guess.
Because they couldn't get rid of the Silver Dome to sell the land.
The biggest he got to pay the insurance on the thing and pay the taxes on.
Well, let's just think about them pitching it.
Hey, we have this arena for you.
All right, I'm in.
It has tons of land around it.
That's great.
You could do anything you want with it because you own it.
All right.
Where is it?
It's in Detroit.
So you got that going for the next try to do it.
They're not sure when that's going to happen.
Goldberg, who just wrapped up another little run on the Goldbergs.
He's now going to be on the Flash.
Oh.
Another acting gig.
They haven't said who he's playing yet.
And I still haven't started anything.
CW really?
That's not Riverdale.
I only want to put so behind a Riverdale.
So.
He's come a long way since Universal Soldier III.
The return.
Thank you very much.
Lesnar now not defending the title of the rumble?
Alex and I were talking about this yesterday.
Apparently now they're going to do a rematch with AJ.
Because that's what America.
What?
Is America named Vince?
After 30.
I think.
Yeah.
Don, did you hear the big release this week?
Oh.
A 30 year veteran with the company.
This is a shame.
Was released.
Who?
Does the name Jim Johnson mean anything to you?
Yeah.
Wait.
I got a good one for this.
All right.
Don.
I want you to think back in your years of watching wrestling.
Narrow it down to WWE.
Okay.
And WF.
Who?
If I say name a great entrance music off the top of your head.
Go.
Stone Cold Steve.
Oh.
That's one.
That's Jim Johnson.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He wrote almost all the themes that you hear.
Oh.
Yeah.
But that's the thing is I could easily go through that whole exercise
release from the company, not his choice.
The rumor is Justin Bieber's coming in.
No.
The rumor is this CFOs with a dollar sign.
Yeah.
This new guy that's running the division wants them to run,
to write the themes now for everybody.
They have done some good work though.
It does some good work.
But Jim Johnson's like the man.
Yeah.
CFO dollars are the ones that have been handling the NXT themes
that have been coming up.
Well, they also wrote Steph's theme.
I didn't know they did that one.
Well, they wrote it.
It was performed by, I think, by Eve, but they wrote it.
Yeah.
It was that great.
So.
All right.
Let's talk raw.
Because DogGuarded, I sat through it.
I want to start with the opening segment from raw.
What did you think of that, Don?
What was that one?
Seth kind of pulling the curtain back a little bit.
Saying why Dean wasn't there.
Because Dean was off on his honeymoon.
Well, they did say, and he mentioned,
and he mentioned Renee by name.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was on top.
So yeah.
Oh, no, no.
The best part about that was they had announced it really quick
as if we're going to say it and move along.
And then Seth makes the joke about, oh God.
Is the room under her credit card?
I just want to know who's cool with being called part of the zoo train.
Depends on the page.
Oh, train.
That's apparently all these guys that are teamed up with Enzo Amori on 205 Live.
They're now referred to as the zoo train.
Somewhere the Godfather is going, that's not a compliment.
No, I just want to say it.
He still has me of a muppet on hair.
And then we find out that Paige's group is going to be called
Absolution to which I say.
That should go in for you.
I did, I actually did see this.
So it was, I had no idea who she was and all of a sudden there's the screaming.
And I'm like, okay.
Yeah, that's the page.
I don't like her makeup job.
And I texted Steven and Steven texted me right back.
He says it's Cheryl Blossom 2.0.
I'll play it, sir.
But I will take it over Bailey's.
Oh, you've always had a problem with Bailey.
That's not saying much for you.
So then we had the broken Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt.
You have my attention with this.
Well, is it still going to be broken though?
Because I kept saying break down.
I don't know if they're trying to be clever.
We're going to lose it.
Well, impact is laid off the lawsuit.
Right, but what I'm saying is just in case they change their mind.
Are they trying to steer around with the broken?
And I never thought I'd say this in the history of ever.
And this is going to be a shocking moment for Don.
You throw brother Nero into this thing and you have my attention.
Because you know how much I hated that character and impact.
Brother Nero.
That was Jeff Hardy's daughter's side.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You throw him into this mix.
Now you've got a Wyatt family.
You put broken Matt Hardy, brother Nero, and Bray Wyatt.
And you put them together.
Man, you've got something.
I did not think of that with Bray.
Not as a feud.
No, no, no, no.
I want them together.
That's some history there.
I'm just saying.
And if it happens, somebody's listening to this show.
I'm just saying it.
Well, we already know they are.
Um, Elias actually got through a whole song.
So congratulations to him.
Elias Savage.
Big up.
And I don't know if you noticed it, Don, during this segment.
And Jen, I don't know if you noticed this either.
Yeah.
The Miz-Taraj.
We're completely millivinellying that harmonica stuff.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, no, no.
It's not even the fact that they were doing the millivinelly on it.
It's the fact that they were so blatantly not playing.
And I have a name, a new name for them.
Because they can't be the Miz-Taraj right now.
Uh-oh.
You know this.
I said this yesterday.
You ready for this?
It's called a setup.
And if it happens, somebody's listening to the show.
They should be called the Samsonites.
And I want that to happen.
If for no other reason is I want to hear another tag team look at them
and go, Samsonites, I was way off.
That is worth its weight in gold people.
The Samsonites, come on.
That's what I'm saying.
I was way off.
Oh, I love that film, though.
It's a great film.
But they should call them the Samsonites.
And uh, that Oscar Dana match.
Wow, that was a thing.
And I'll tell you what.
Beautifully executed for the five seconds that that match lasted.
Four.
Okay, four seconds.
You tied it.
That's right.
Beautifully executed.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then you brought up something.
I'm going to let you take this.
Because this was your discovery.
Because I completely missed it.
I just started laughing and I had to rewind and go back to it.
Because the match only takes four seconds.
But it's into a rolling arm bar by Oscar Spoiler.
If you haven't watched it by now, you're kind of on your own.
But Michael Cole screams, it's the Oscar lock.
And you could hear Corey Graves go, what are you talking
and his mic cuts off.
And Michael Cole scream at him saying,
the Oscar lock.
Yeah, that's the arm bar.
Yeah.
So like literally Graves is trying to call Michael Cole out.
Like just ridiculous this.
It gets his mic cut.
And then Michael Cole yells out him louder.
Yeah.
It's going to be interesting to see.
Because I know Stephen was talking about,
or we were talking about Stephen on the last pay-per-view.
About what can we do to have Oscar?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay now what can we do to have Oscar take a loss?
And now we've got this page thing and they bow down.
Actually.
I let her walk out.
This is a red herring.
Yes, I mean he does.
I'm saying this is a red herring.
Yeah.
No way out the war.
This is to put down in your mind.
She's not going to join them.
No, no, no, I don't think she could join them.
This is to put down in your mind that she might.
This is a red herring.
I'm telling you.
No, I don't think it's that she'd join them.
But I think it's whoever she does join take some on.
on. And it can be a loss for Oscar. But Oscar is going to be solo. Yeah. She
she doesn't work in and she's not it. That would cheapen her streak if she
loses via shenanigans to one of those three. Right. There's going to be
something straight up. Now I would be okay. And by the way, didn't I say last
week that we'd have to bring somebody new in to break that
streak? Yes you did. Smartest man alive. Um I we I would be okay with it being
page. I still think that it's going to be two page in
something like some form of it's going to be a gimmick match. It's going to be
a cage match probably. That's just my I have nothing to base that on. Just
gut feeling. All right. Yes. Yes. Please do sir. Let's say you're a
jobber. This is I've been called worse. But you know I'm talking
which level of jobber. You're we have interest. A JTTS, a jobber to the stars,
a Barry Horowitz, if you will. I mean, you're juke the dumpster,
Drosi. Do we start? Somebody is their first time on W and they're
going to go in there and get their butt kicked, right? Uh-huh. And it's their
only match. There's no chance they're ever going to be on WWE as a superstar
and get out of that contract. That's what they said about L'sworth and look
what happened. Well, but you get the point. Yeah. You're that person and you
get that shot to go in there and get your butt kicked. Uh-huh. Would you say
screw it and go around and break Oscar's streak if you're that lady?
Because number one, number one, it wouldn't happen unless you are
somebody like a Nia Jax or a Tamina Snuka. She might actually hurt you. Yeah.
Number two, she is legit. She is a legit fighter. Like you would have to,
like I said, it would have to be like a Nia Jax or a
Tamina Snuka, someone who has that stature that she could just
immobilize her. She is a legit fighter. Number two,
you wouldn't make it alive out of the arena because
no because they would send people for you. You wouldn't make it out of life.
Because of the level of professionalism that those people have,
there's no way in hell because you would have to go into hiding because even if you
did get out of the arena, you would have to deal with the people that
trained you too. Yeah. Because now you're be smirching
their image and they might not ever get somebody to use from their
division. Yeah. You would, yeah. You would never work.
If you would make Steve Bartman look like a public figure.
That's how deep into hiding you would have to go.
Because I think that's a full snowed in level. You'd go beyond Bartman.
Yeah. You'd have to like find a different content to live on.
And even then they'd find out. Yeah. But it's an excellent question.
There because it happened once when I was like a little kid and one guy just
said screw it and beat the guy on TV. He beat what the
Brad Armstrong. And you got pinned in like Brad just
looks up like what the hell? And the guy just, you know, I mean you get the
point, you know, remember the old days of, you know,
right. But you're talking about the WCW Saturday night.
Yeah. That was story. That was actually a job or who actually
no, it happens that like the Milky Brothers beat one of the
talk tag teams once and they were supposed to, you know, they said
screw it. I'm gonna make I'm gonna put my weight down.
This guy can kick it out and it got the tree and like Armstrong looks like
what the hell just happened. But that's but that's also on the ref too.
Yeah. Because if the ref knows who's supposed to win,
the ref can actually like, he can slow count it or he can like all of a sudden
he's like something got into his eye or something to try to get out of it.
I just played the role. Did the three and all everybody just like say
because the member of the ref controls the match. The ref knows.
But I am so if you put somebody into a real arm bar and they start tapping out
saying you tap out. I don't care. Well, that's that's why the only time that
that's ever come close in in WWE or even in modern era was Daniel
pewter answering angle and pewter had a background of MMA UFC.
And he legit went after putting angle in something that would make him tap out
and angle just rolled him over, pinned him and then like literally was about
to beat the hell out of it again. And it's I mean it's happened that way
where you people have gone off script and have gotten legit stiff beaten down.
Well, and with the refs knowing there's the whole thing with was Lana's shoulder down
or was it up with the whole she got another match when she went and going to.
Right. And it's, you know, if he get them to tap somehow because he put them in a real arm.
Well, that's what happened recently in CMLL with sexy star.
Yeah. And where she puts somebody. Yeah, put rosemary in a legit arm bar and almost broke her arm.
And people from all over the industry went after her on social media.
Like people that don't even know are like people from WWE.
It's the only thing they went after. You know, speaking of things outside of WWE.
If you've been seeing this Chris Jericho Kenny Omega thing starting to heat up a little bit.
Yes, it's been great. It's been great. It's been great entertainment.
Chris Jericho has released an Alpha Club shirt.
It is really good because he is Omega. He is in the bullet club.
It's an Alpha Club where he's pointing. It's a great looking shirt.
And I would be tempted to buy it if for no other reason.
Jericho has announced that the proceeds from the sales of this shirt
are going to benefit research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Okay, I can support that.
Also, they'll be wrestling on WrestleKingdom12.
If you have access TV used to be called HDNet.
They're going to be showing the event two days later.
So January the 6th at 8pm, it's going to be a three hour event.
WrestleKingdom12 will be shown and that will be the Chris Jericho Kenny Omega match.
So set your DVRs now if you can do it that far in advance.
It's a great looking shirt too.
Impact not doing Genesis for January.
Their January pay-per-view is no more for now.
Are they going to have down for glory next year?
They might. I mean, they have signed Matt Sideow
who's super excited to be here.
I can't stand it.
They're going to go smoke another joint.
Tell us how you really feel.
Who's smoking another joint sideow?
Punishment Martinez did win survival of the fittest.
If that was the part of the tournament that we saw at Gilles.
That was the opening round.
So Punishment Martinez did win that by the end of the weekend.
So congratulations to him.
I believe that gets him a future television title.
Well, no, he's already part of the television title.
But there's something about survival fittest.
He gets some kind of a title shot.
I think it's a future heavyweight.
Okay. World title shot, okay.
Also thought out this week.
And this has been going on for most of this year.
I had no idea who's working with NXT.
Yo, Chad Lail is done.
No, it's Gunner.
Oh, really?
In fact, he's been working with NXT for months.
He had no idea.
I heard, yeah, I read something on that.
I like that guy.
Guys got talent.
Now I want to ask you.
Not a lot of personalities.
You've got a baratial fast.
Did you see that thing not yesterday but eight days ago
where with war machine and addiction
and they had that brawl
after the ring and that fan got?
To my knowledge, that story.
Because that girl was bleeding from the mouth.
Oh, so a fan jumping the deal?
Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, they got spiked in the face
with a legend.
Yeah, they were standing up by a ring side
behind the barrier.
Okay.
And it was on the last week.
Not, yeah, I know.
I know, I must have missed this.
Yeah, it was two weeks ago, I think.
Yeah, it was not last week's the week before.
And I watched it.
I must have missed this part of it.
And what happened was the war machine
that had one of the, was it Kaz or Daniels?
Yeah, Daniels up and Kaz up
and goes to throw him against Daniels
and like Daniels moved on everything.
Okay, they hit the fan.
Oh, dear.
They're real fan right in the hit.
Boo, that's the part I was talking about
when we put on our OH yesterday
where I was like, I need to see if you think
this is part of the story.
Oh, I was referring to.
Because everybody just saw her.
She, I mean, her face was red.
She probably just broke her nose.
Yeah, I know, no, I hadn't heard about that.
I must have missed that when I showed it.
Yeah, but it was definitely one of those where it's like,
you could see where it might have been in story
but at the same time.
No, because they would have had to
yeah, but did they show it?
Oh, yeah.
If they showed it, it might have been part of story
because if that, if it was legit,
they probably, they would have edited that.
Here's the other part is,
everybody around her was cleared out by at least a few feet.
Oh, there was another guy, no, there was another guy
right next to her too.
That was the security.
No, I mean, it's a guy with her.
Okay, I haven't heard otherwise.
So I'm going to say it was probably
somebody local and it was just a blown spot.
So yeah, because nothing else, I mean,
I haven't, but I could be wrong.
I mean, the reaction, I mean,
Kaz just kind of, even though he is supposed to act
with your old crap.
It was a very convincing acting job
because even War Machine just stopped
and was like, what the hell?
What did we do?
Well, think about the acting job we saw when we went.
Oh, that was fantastic.
When Vinnie Marsalia sold the injury
and they stretched that out for 10 minutes.
I think it was a bit of a success.
Even you were starting, I mean,
originally you were telling me he was acting
and then you're like, wait a minute, maybe.
Yeah, even I was convinced.
I mean, that was good.
By the way, speaking of from the department
of somebody who listens to this show,
next week is WWE Takeover Week on USA Network.
So that's usually when they would do a Smackdown live
when it used to be taped.
They would do it live that week.
We're also going to have tribute to the troops next week.
Guess what else is showing on USA next week
on Wednesday night?
Party scroll.
Adjusting beep or Christmas?
Nope.
Oh, USA Network December 13th.
Little something I like to call NXT?
Match of the year.
Just saying.
Now, this is right now it's a one-time shot
because this WWE Takeover Week.
Yeah, but that's how Test Run start.
But yeah, I'm just saying this will benefit you.
It will do ratings.
What is it that Rob says at this time?
Give me the book of the checkbook for a year.
Checkbooking.
The other thing is I agree that they should show NXT
because that'll be on Wednesday night.
Yes.
Show 205 Live too.
Absolutely.
Get it out there.
Do you think H has been pressing
Vince to get this on or?
I think this is something that they've both said,
you know what?
We'll try this once and see what it does.
I don't think there's any proof
because H knows it's his world.
Well, also, it's his world.
Can't you hear your question, Don?
I think you are right in that regard.
I think that there is somebody whether it be H
or somebody else involved that says,
hey, let's find a way to get this expanded
to people who may not have the network.
Maybe we use it as a hook.
If you were H, would you want it on weekly?
You know what?
I don't know.
I don't know.
If you were Vince, would you put it on weekly?
Absolutely.
But I would play it.
I would still want the traffic to the network.
Yeah.
And that's why I've been saying for months now,
what they need to do is show,
because if you have Universal HD,
you watch Raw and Smackdown back-to-back on Saturday nights.
So why wouldn't you do something on USA
late morning on a Saturday and show NXT
in 205 Live Back-to-Back, because they're one hour shows?
You would have already aired them on the network.
So you'd still give the people that want to watch it
in its normal time slot on the network,
but you'd give people that don't have the network
a time to watch it.
And if you watch it on the network,
maybe you give those people a promo code
that don't have the network yet and say, hey,
we'll give you three months for $10 if you use promo code USA205 Live
or USA NXT, because then you could gauge
the traffic you're getting from it.
I'm just saying.
Yeah, let me, and if you do it,
I'm not even going to charge you for it, Deb.
I mean, if you could have that Sunday night heat on
and all those other Sunday night heat,
God, with Stevie Richards,
this is Sunday's self-appointed GM of Stevie Night Heat.
What was it that?
I was Saturday morning.
Shot, no, there was Shotgun Saturday night.
No, what's up?
You're talking about superstars.
But you had superstars and wrestling challenge
in the USA had all American wrestling.
Yeah, that was wrestling challenge in superstars.
And then Sunday, you had all American wrestling
at noon Eastern on USA, which I would watch after church.
Yes, that happened.
Yeah, that g-rated show for the kids on Saturday morning.
Yeah, that was superstars.
And you also had wrestling challenge.
Yeah, they'd film like, they'd film a month of those in one day.
All right, so let's see what else is going on.
Congratulations to 205 Live, turned one year old.
So, Mazel top to them.
Naomi, they're saying suffered multiple injuries
on SmackDown Live, maybe angle-related,
a shoulder separation, facial lacerations,
and I'm not kidding you.
This is what I read, a cervical sprain.
It can happen.
So, yeah, that was a little uncomfortable, but we report the news.
And by the way, congratulations to Kurt Hawkins,
his losing streak has hit 140.
So, I love that shirt they have for him on shop.
It's brilliant.
It's just like the notches for all of his losses on a t-shirt.
And we did find out who your next WWE 365 is going to be.
The Kevin Ellens One debuted after a survivor series.
Your next WWE 365, which is a year of the life up, will be AJ-style.
Nice. Did you ever see the video of the How AJ Travels or the,
or the, uh, pick up?
Somebody caught him and he would take the train.
I don't know if he didn't like the fly or whatever,
but the gamer case that's the built-in LCD with a console.
Uh-huh.
He had one of those stolen from him.
Yeah, that's how, yeah, he carries one of those absolutely.
But it was him just like locked in, like I don't care,
I'm playing video games, I'm not getting thrown around.
He had one of those stolen from him out of a bag
at a house show a year and a half ago or so.
Okay, if somebody is listening, I have one of those gamers case,
AJ, come see me.
It's yours.
Is that it?
Put it out there.
Put it out there to the universe.
All right, a couple of quick smackdown notes.
Um, that opening segment,
when Daniel Bryan was making the case of why he kept,
he wouldn't let him fire because then they'd go to raw
and Shane's reaction of great.
They'd be my sister's problem.
And the look on his face was, hey, I'm good with it.
Was priceless for him.
And then fishing for the yes chance.
Yes.
And yeah, just looking around like, huh, huh?
We're gonna do this.
We're gonna do this.
And the pancake thing awkward on every level.
Yeah.
Although I thought the Uso's reaction.
Yes.
Was it like, did that come out?
No, no, why is syrup warm?
The pump, the pump, the pancakes on the fan,
on the kid fan.
That was cute because that was the box.
That wasn't from somewhere else.
I understand.
And as much as Biggie had the two plates one on top of each other,
it's still kind of gross.
I'm just saying.
I don't even then you hear the comment of, don't eat that.
Yeah, I thought the Uso's were brilliant.
Oh, they were great.
So all right, let's get into movie talk
because that's we're actually a little bit behind
but we're gonna be okay.
From our friends at boxofficemojo.com,
here are your numbers.
Dropping out of the top 10 this week.
Let's see here.
Roman J, Israel Esquire drops from 9 to 11,
just under $2 million, three weeks,
nine and a half million dollars
on a $22 million budget.
Again, I say to you, a Denzel Washington film
has not made half of its budget.
This may be his biggest bomb since of virtuosity
and that's right.
I said it.
Him and Russell Crowe.
I like virtuosity.
It's so good or it's so terrible, it's good.
Let's see.
What else this way?
I think that's the only film I dropped out of the top 10
this week.
Dropping from 8 to 10 this week,
a bad mom's Christmas, $3.5 million,
$5 weeks, $64.8 million, $28 million budget.
That's gonna be okay.
The star animated feature about the first Christmas
drops from 7 to 9 this week, $4 million,
$3 weeks, $27.3 million on a $20 million budget.
So they're gonna be all right.
That's a Sony production too.
Three billboards outside, Ebbing, Missouri,
jumps from 10 to 8 this week.
We like to call that iTunes exclusive 331.
I saw that last night being a fantastic film.
What did you think?
Did I tell you it's dark?
Yeah, and it had the comedy.
The ending was, yeah, it's a dark comedy.
It's the very definition of a dark comedy.
But it was good.
It really kept me in there.
It wasn't what I thought I'd be, but in a way,
but I really, yeah, then I listened to the episode
after on the way home.
And I really understood a lot what you were saying.
I'm glad you did because I liked it.
That's one of my goals.
Did I get my message across well last night?
He was seeing wonder.
So I wasn't going to book out the same time.
It's like a video here.
I go for the show Marcus Blake,
who had his big party this coming this coming this coming week.
I'll be out there.
Lady Bird jumps from 11 to 7.
Probably they're saying the best, the quickest top rated film
in the history of Rotten Tomatoes.
And I'm hearing good things about it.
I'm hearing good things.
We're supposed to be getting a screener of it.
So if we do, we'll all get together and watch it.
It jumps from 11 to 7.
Another $4.5 million, five weeks,
17 million, I don't have a budget on it.
Murder on the Orient Express.
Hold steady at sixth place this week.
iTunes exclusive, $3.28, $6.7 million,
$4.84 million, $8 million on a $55 million budget.
They're going to be OK.
Daddy's home, too, also hold everything all the way up.
Stays exactly where they are this week.
Daddy's home to another $7.5 million, $4 weeks,
$82.8 million, $69 million budget,
but they've got to make the promotional stuff back.
Thor Ragnarok stays in fourth with another $9.7 million,
$5 weeks, $291.4 million on a $180 million budget.
Wonder stays in the bronze medal, $12.5 million,
$3 weeks, $88 million.
Justice League stays at $16.6 million, $3 weeks,
just under $200 million, but the problem is that budget.
Let me look at the worldwide numbers.
Worldwide, it's made $567 million, which is good
because that budget hit $500 million.
The budget for Lady Bird was 10.
OK.
So, and Coco wins the week again, two weeks, $108.6 million
after another $26.1 million.
That's also iTunes exclusive $332.
So, I'm going to keep an eye on those Justice League numbers.
We're not even going to bury the lead this week
in news that could not make me happier.
There is a film that we saw at the Dallas International Film
Festival.
Right now, I, again, not bearing the lead.
Still my favorite film of the year.
No.
Are we?
Bombs City is getting released in February.
Gravitas Ventures has bought the rights.
Oh, I'm so happy.
So, I'm very excited for major and everybody up there.
Guys, I told you we were going to champion you.
We champion you.
I'm not saying that we paid it off, but I hope we play a role.
It's going to be released in February.
There's going to be a trailer that drops next Tuesday.
I love this movie so much.
It is right now still my favorite film of the year.
This is the true story of murder in the punk rock scene
in Amarillo in the 90s.
This movie is amazing.
A friend of the show, Major Dodge in it.
I just Glenn Moore-Shower, who you might know from 24,
also was on the agents of SHIELD.
He's actually a local guy who's in under siege
and made Chad have one of the biggest mark-out moments
I've ever seen Chad Womack have as long
of the 20 years that I've known him.
This movie, it was filmed here locally.
This movie is amazing.
Well, part of Amarillo, but the...
A chunk of it was filmed here in Dallas.
Yeah, the end scene where the event...
Yeah, in the big, the big climax.
You don't know the story when I want to ruin it.
Just the event.
It was filmed that was about to not be Valley View anymore.
This is an event I filmed.
The story from the Dallas Observer when it had happened.
Yes, and if you don't know anything about it,
don't know anything about it.
This movie is amazing.
Going to see the film and not...
I want to see the trailer on that.
Yeah, trailer drops next Tuesday.
Gravitas Ventures has gotten a hold of it.
That's key to your trust me because, you know, we...
I hope the trailer doesn't give anything away.
Knowing these guys, because we know the filmmakers have done the show.
If you go back and you listen to both of our episodes
from the Dallas International Film Festival this year,
we had representation on both of those shows.
I could not be happier for these guys.
Oh, yeah.
What was really kind of neat is I saw that
and Patty Kakes back-to-back to close the festival.
Both of those films have gotten wide release.
But the composer who we had on the show, Cody,
he actually sought me out in line as I was waiting for Patty Kakes.
He's like, man, what did you think?
I'm like, dude, you nailed it.
Like, I got to talk to Major Dodge.
He sat there with me for 10 minutes.
I was waiting to go into Patty Kakes.
We could not be happier.
And plus Major Dodge also has an appearance
in Friend of the Show Jason Bees film Donovan.
So I got to spend some time with him at the Donovan screening.
High quality human beings.
Also in this film, Laura Linclater,
who you might remember as Richard Linclater's daughter
who was in boyhood, this movie is amazing.
And I could not be more excited
that this thing is going to get a full blown release.
Go do everything-
How big of a release do you think you'll get?
Just like that in Chelsea?
I don't know yet.
It's Gravitasa.
It's not a major studio,
but it's major enough that it could get a decent run.
Speaking of which, it's the holiday season.
Go to DonovanTheMovie.com.
Get your Donovan DVDs.
Because if you haven't seen the back of the DVD,
you need to.
I'll show it to you off-air.
Kind of cool.
But yeah, and B is, they've got the DVDs for you.
Go get them.
You can also get a digital download of Donovan as well.
And the soundtrack.
I'm very excited that B got this done.
It's been such a great year.
We're going to talk about it in our year-end wrap-up as well.
In other news, we have our Mulan for the live action.
Mulan is a Chinese actress by the name of,
I'm going to screw this up so bad.
Yefee Liu.
Y-I-F-I-E-I-L-I-U.
Beautiful young lady.
We'll be playing Mulan in the live action version.
I just want to hear whoever plays Mushu.
Shame on you.
Decide on your whole family.
That's my favorite line of hope.
The Hellboy reboot has a release date.
Part of me is concerned, but it leads me to a question.
The Hellboy reboot with the dude from Stranger Things.
David Harbor.
David Harbor.
Big fan.
Actually, I got compared to him recently
by a dear friend of mine.
Heather Fogelman loved you.
She said that I reminded her of the David Harbor.
And I will take that.
Was this during November with the full beard?
Or since you've trimmed it?
You know what?
It was right around that time.
Remember Stranger Things Season 2 dropped Halloween weekend
and the beard started the next week.
Right, no, but I mean.
So which, by the way, is now gone.
We're back to abnormal.
You're back to abnormal.
And it's, you know, I like both looks.
You know, I was really actually considering
keeping the beard, keeping it tempred,
not going full.
Andrew Beckham with it.
But I don't know that it fits with the Grace D look.
That was my only hesitation.
And it does kind of age me.
No, but I get that.
And it does kind of age me a little bit.
So.
I mean, we are of a certain age.
But it does, it does still reinforces my theory
that the longer you keep facial hair,
the more gray it gets.
Because when I grow the beard, the beard is nice and dark,
except where you can see where the go-t normally is.
It's almost completely gray now.
So trimming your facial hair keeps it darker longer.
It's all I'm saying.
I would not understand that.
That's a scientific theory.
Not going.
Not going to.
So in, so it does lead me to a question.
Because as we know, Don and I have been
movie critics, you could say.
It's kind of weird to say that for almost four and a half years now.
And if you know anything about the way the movie industry works,
January, February,
tend to be the dumping ground
for theaters, for movie companies,
and the march to an extent.
But now in recent years, when you're,
especially from a family films,
like Rock Dog was a January release,
I very much enjoyed that film.
Paddington was a January release,
and I loved that movie,
and I still don't know how they found talking bears,
but they did.
But now Hellboy's getting a January release.
You're looking at the post getting a Q1 release wide.
And I have seen it,
and I can't talk about it yet,
but I will be talking about it very soon.
I just got a screener in it.
We can talk about it yet.
Yeah, I know, I just say,
I just got a screener.
I haven't seen it yet, but it's a Q1 release.
Wide,
you're getting Black Panther in March.
BVS was a March release.
I'm starting to wonder if we're getting away
from January being a dumping ground
and being a more
getting everybody ready for award season.
Well, I got a really weird question for you, though,
because it was still a dumping ground
up until a few years ago,
and then there were more than just Deadpool,
but multiple surprise hits in February.
So are they starting to think,
maybe that's just a fun time ground?
Let's bring that in, because like,
let's just grab it and it's already here.
Let's clarify something that some of the Oscar bait movies
get every technical release in late,
they have to show it in LA, New York,
and you know, before the new year,
but they release it in January.
You know, like some of the best picture nominations,
best actors, they have to officially release it
in before the year ends in LA,
New York, but then they release it in January.
So we're not talking those films.
But the stuff that comes out,
like, look regular February,
that's not Oscar bait.
Right.
You know, people, when the award season comes out
and the Academy, they release the nominees,
they also talk about the Oscars and the show.
People go see movies.
Right.
So why not?
No, I agree with you.
I'm seeing a very interesting shift happening
where we're getting really solid releases now
in Q1 that we weren't getting before.
And it's going to be really, really interesting
to see as nominations come out
because I heard a really interesting discussion
on a podcast I listened to.
I want to say it was in Fat Man on Batman
where they were talking about Logan
and how Logan was a March release.
But like, I got a screener of Logan in the mail
for my, for my contentions.
And we're going to go over our best and worst of the year
as Don said on January the 7th.
I'm totally okay with that.
I'm totally on board.
But I'm going to be interested to see
because it's been so long
and I was looking at my list of films this past week.
Where Logan currently sits?
This has been an amazing year for film
because I don't tout Logan the way a lot of people do.
I thought it was a good film.
I thought it was a service of the bull film.
I didn't think it was the end all be all.
Would I be surprised to see Patrick Stewart
to get a best supporting actor nomination?
Not at all, especially since this is the last time
he's playing the role.
He's out too.
Yeah, because this is the end of the line for that.
But this is really the end of the world.
I mean, that takes place in 2029
who says they can't take,
have a movie that takes place in the year 20.
You have to give it to this new cast of characters
to McAvoy and Fast Bender.
If it wasn't for McAvoy,
he'd do a great job with it.
I mean, there's always a way they could bring him back.
But in the world of Patrick Stewart's the one that said he's done.
He did, and I'm okay with that.
Now, here's the other thing.
Did Jackman say he's done too?
Yes.
Yeah, because Jackman,
I mean, you gotta understand it took him six months
just to get back in the right shape to play the role.
You know, father time is undefeated, brother.
You know what I mean?
So I'm going to be interested to see how this works out
because again, with movies coming so quickly,
you know, maybe you do do a re-re-
I mean, I would've been completely okay
if Fox did a re-release of Logan in the fall
to get it more fresh in people's minds.
Just even for a week, you know,
and maybe they still do.
We don't know, there are still three weeks left in the year
and stranger things have happened.
No pun intended.
This has been an amazing year for entertainment
in general.
I said it before.
I said everybody in the television industry
better be happy that Game of Thrones didn't happen
until after the deadline for Emmy contention
because they're going to clean up next year.
Whether the next the last season, heirs are not.
Next season, Game of Thrones owns the Emmys.
Say it now because that was some of the best television
I've ever watched on multiple levels.
Netflix is getting, Hulu is getting, Amazon is getting.
So I think we're going to see
more of a cycle of these things
because now especially with Netflix getting into
and Amazon Studios getting into film,
I'm gonna be really interested to see how this works
because of the film cycle.
Now, I don't know that we don't see a film
from an Amazon Studios or a Netflix in Oscar contention
because the Emmys are already recognizing
the problem that you have is the way that the film industry
and the television industry tend to thumb their nose
at each other.
Right, but there's also that one thing
it's I think that's why they're releasing
the Will Smith bright.
Like they don't expect that to win anything
but they really want to show what they put behind
the car engine that make up.
They'll Smith and the great Tom Hardy.
Let's not, let's not discount that.
Tom Hardy.
The Tom Hardy or Joel Edgerton?
Joel Edgerton.
Joel, either way.
Because you see, they were in that one of my,
were we together, which was my favorite film of that year.
So I try to get them confused.
But what I'm saying is that they're talking about
releasing that this year to try and get into the makeup.
I'll be interested to see because the Emmys
have already broken that wall.
House of cards was the thing that broke through.
I'm hoping that the Academy recognizes as well
because the Netflix and Amazon and Hulu
and things of their ilk are doing amazing things.
Right.
Narcos, anybody?
I've never watched an episode
but I am very intrigued by this show.
Same.
I mean, they're doing quality work.
You know, some of the, oh, I see it.
I realized I missed one.
Some of the stuff that I'm seeing out there right now
it's just they're doing amazing work.
Some of it's a little artsy for me.
Like I didn't dig Amazon studios
in the fast-spender version of McBeth
but I saw the risks they took
and I respect it for what it is.
I'm gonna be really interested to see now
if we've now, or we're going to get away from
as Don and I like to talk about awards season
because that's not just us,
that's everybody in the industry.
But as time goes on,
and you think about the way even the media is going,
we're just two slubs with a podcast
and we are getting,
we're getting recognition from major studios.
I put this up on Instagram this week,
friend of the show Matt Mungle got this too
and I know Don probably got this in the mail.
It is a beautiful coffee table book
for Get Out, which is a universal release.
Not only do we get the screen report,
they send us that beautiful coffee table book
of all the original art that was done
by Jordan Peel and people of his ilk for that film.
And I think that the online community
is playing a role in this,
that it's not just people who are in print media
or video media.
Let's talk about it because,
like even the studios are changing
because look at Disney with Star Wars.
I hate to tell you a lot of studios at first
are pissed, got mad at them.
Oh and it's getting bigger
because I want to put a pin in that.
I need to put a pin in that and I'll tell you why off air.
Okay, don't talk about it.
No, we'll talk about it off air.
But all of a sudden now the talks
of Disney and 21st century Fox are firing up again.
Because if you heard a couple of weeks ago,
Disney was putting their toe in the water
to buy Fox's film division.
So they now would get all of the stuff back they need
for Marvel.
Because from what I'm hearing
and take this for what you're paying for it,
what I'm hearing is that Fox only wants to hold on
to their news and sports divisions.
They would be perfectly okay with selling off everything else.
If Disney, now there's a lot of people
that are also saying if Disney gets a hold of this,
that the government may step in.
Yeah, because it's gonna be almost like a monopoly.
But it's not, see that's my whole thing.
It's not, if they just buy Fox's film division,
it's like saying Vince has a monopoly.
He doesn't, he just has a lot of the big hitters
because he's never gonna buy Warner Brothers.
That's never gonna happen.
Cause there are already some problems
with that AT&T thing, which I don't get,
cause I'm okay with it.
Then you've got, you know, with the time Warner thing,
that's gonna encompass new line and things of its ilk.
Fox has been trying to dump Fox search light
for two years now.
I am totally okay with this.
Even if Disney just says, look,
just give us the Marvel properties.
That's all we want.
So we can fix it.
I just agree, cause you know, you say Vince
doesn't have a monopoly, he basically does.
He's the big dog who can compete.
And that's the thing.
It's like the airlines.
If there's how many major airlines now,
United, American and Delta, that's it.
Southwest.
That's, I give her that.
I give her so far.
How many used to be 30?
Do you think they're gonna allow United and Delta to emerge?
No, they never would.
You'd never say never in the world of business.
Yeah, but the reason the difference is,
Vince doesn't own our age.
Yeah, Vince doesn't own impact yet.
But now if the day comes where everything filters through him,
you might have a problem.
That's the same thing with time Warner in a way.
If they disney by and all that, you know,
they basically are gonna be such a huge giant.
Is it basically is a monopoly?
Cause they can set the stand.
I just don't think there will ever come a time
where Disney owns Warner Brothers.
I just don't see it happening.
And you still have Universal.
Right.
And you got exactly, you got Universal too.
So I'm totally okay with this.
I'm gonna be interested to see where this goes.
That being said, we're already running away behind.
So let's get into some movie news this week.
Get ready kids because this week is the disaster artist.
You will have our reviews to read and listen to
by the end of this week.
So I'm very excited to get that done.
Also, darkest hour.
This is a movie that I am incredibly interested in.
And I'm bummed that we missed the screening for it.
But it was one of those, it was in the middle of the day.
And we didn't get to see it.
This is Gary Oldman playing Winston Churchill.
And from all reports, fantastic.
Yes.
It's the early days of World War II,
the fate of the Western,
Western Europe hangs on the newly appointed
Winston Churchill.
So you're again, you're talking Gary Oldman,
Lily James, Ben Mendelssohn,
Kristen Scott Thomas, Stephen Delane, Hannah Steele.
Yeah, totally on board with this.
Also this week, a movie, and I put this in here
because it just looks interesting.
It's called November criminals.
This is one of those kids with the clothes and the hair.
Chloe Grace Moretz is in this.
And the Ansel Elgort, who you might know as baby driver.
That's too good, hitters, right?
A teenager takes his own investigation
of a murder in Washington, D.C.
Catherine Keener is in this David Strathand,
who I am a huge fan of.
And one of the most underrated actors of our generation,
Terry Kenny, Danny Flarity, Victor Williams,
Allie Marshall.
This looks really good.
We got limited release a couple weeks ago,
but it's going wide this week.
Also a film called Just Getting Started.
This is not a biopic of Al Pacino.
I promise you, let me pull this up for you.
This is Glen Hedley and Morgan Freeman are in this.
I believe Tommy Lee Jones is in this as well.
Yeah.
Renee Russo is in this.
Joey Pants, who I'm a big fan of,
is in this Elizabeth Ashley Shirley Ralph.
Here's what you need to know.
It's a two, it's being called a two-hander action comedy
in the vein of Midnight Run.
About an XFBI agent played by Tommy Lee Jones
and an X-Mob lawyer in the witness protection program
played by Morgan Freeman.
Having to put aside their petty rivalry
on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.
I mean, I have an action.
I am in on this.
I have actually seen the trailer.
So there's another layer of it is because you notice
the actors and actresses of a certain age.
So this is all taking place on the fact that
it's a retired FBI agent and somebody in hiding
in an adult community and then everything happens
within this community.
I'm in on this.
That sounds like a roller coaster, a fun.
There's also a movie called Collitis Scope this week,
a psychological thriller about a destructive relationship
between a middle-aged man and his mother.
Toby Jones is in this.
So I'm a big fan of him as well.
And because you gotta have movies that just have weird names.
Oh, no, that's not till later.
It's listed as December 8th.
That's because it's in limited release
so it can be an Oscar contention.
We can't talk about that one yet.
A movie called Bullethead because why not?
Adrian Brody and Antonio Bendes.
This is three career criminals find themselves trapped
in a warehouse with the law closing in
and even worse, the even worse threat waiting inside.
Let's see, Malcovitch is in this.
Rory Culkin, let's see, anybody else that I recognize,
it doesn't look like a fresher.
I still think I might like the better
when it was called Free Fire, but we'll have to see.
By the way, if you haven't seen that, do yourself a solid.
DVD and Blu-Wry New releases in places
you get DVD and Blu-Wry New releases this week
to spickable me three.
I love this movie.
American Assassin, which is one I'm kind of bummed
I missed in theaters that I really want to see
with the Michael Keaton.
Yeah, and it looks pretty good.
And the kid, I can't remember his name for the life of me.
He's been doing great work with The Maze Runner.
Oh, yeah, Don's a big fan of that series.
The first one I love, the second one was like,
what the heck?
The third one's got a trailer.
And the 20th anniversary Men in Black Trilogy.
So that's that, ladies and gentlemen.
And the 20th anniversary edition of Jumanji,
as we prepare for the new one.
And the Conor McGregor documentary called Notorious,
which I've heard is really, really good.
Oh, I'm excited for that.
Anything for Ted Conor,
because I don't have anything this week.
Can't hurt anything.
All right, then let's get to the list.
All right, kids, take a deep breath.
Because I might be going Lewis Black here a little bit.
Oh, no.
Does that mean we need a mute button?
No, I'll be fine.
I might need a mute button for what's on the TV right now.
Jennifer Hudson, I don't like her.
We've done this list before, but I've updated it.
So if you go back in the archives,
I don't know where it is, because I don't have time
to go look for it.
Back in the day, I gave you 10 travel tips.
I've been doing a lot of traveling as of late.
I'm a traveler.
I've traveled a lot over my lifetime.
And I want to make the world a better place.
To get a sip of my T.C. beverage, probably get into this.
Uh-oh.
I've been doing a lot of traveling recently.
And I've been noticing things.
So I want to give you 10 more travel tips.
Some of these, maybe you haven't thought of.
Most of them, you probably should have.
And I want to start with some logistics.
Let's say, I don't know, you're going to take a plane ride.
Let's say that plane ride involves multiple members
of your family.
And let's say that plane ride with multiple members
of your family involves small children.
And let's say, no, I'm OK with it.
I get it.
Let's say two members of your family
are in a row with a dude that might be carrying 27280.
Maybe we're going to run about six foot.
And he is sitting on the aisle because he likes to sit
on the aisle because he has a certain modicum of claustrophobia.
Respect.
And plus, if maybe that guy wants to get up and go to the bathroom,
he doesn't want to have to climb over you
twice as a member of courtesy.
He doesn't mind getting up and standing in the aisle.
If you have to go, he just doesn't want to climb over you.
That sounds like a really nice guy.
If it's you and the small child, do yourself a solid,
put the small child in the middle seat.
Because what this does for you is it
lets the dude sitting on the aisle not feel like he's
having to sit out in the aisle to make room for you.
And you can sit on the window and you
can stretch out a little bit, too.
Because I'm a genius.
I can also see the other side of it
though of stranger next to my child.
That is a valid point.
Then put your child in your lap because you can do that.
Or just put them in a kennel.
Well, I'm not going to get there.
And do that, Alex.
But even dusly, even dusly, this stranger's going
to be next to your child regardless.
You're in the same row.
I'm just saying.
Number nine, when you're in the gate,
and you're in group seven, cop a squat, horse.
Don't stand in the middle of the gate
when people are trying to get through.
We're all going to get on the plane.
Even if you're flying southwest
and you've got to do ninja boarding,
which I'm going to have to do on three different flights
this week.
I have a tip just for Southwest.
We'll get there.
Give me a minute.
If you have reserved seats, cop a squat.
You've already checked in.
Your seat's not going to go anywhere.
Wait, your turn.
You're going to sit there and wait on everybody
to get in.
And the people that are supposed to be boarding,
because they're in groups ahead of you,
they're having to navigate around you.
cop a squat.
Go.
So for Southwest, it's ticketing.
When you try to get the advance, the select,
or different things when you're ordering your tickets,
they charge you an extra 150, 200, 300, depending
on destination.
Yep.
Always get the one to get away, which
is their cheapest option.
Yep.
Then go to the gate.
When you get there, it will be $40.
Every time, no matter the flight,
to get bumped up to A1 through 15.
And then you were the first one on to get your pick of seats
after elderly, small children and veterans.
Which, as it should be.
I agree.
But what I'm saying is, is instead of paying the 200,
so you're not stuck sitting next to the toilet,
which means you're either a bathroom
officianado, or really wanting to meet people who are.
You get on the plane, sit in the first few rows.
See, that doesn't bother me, because I really
need to sit on the aisle.
So I'll sit in the back row of the plane
by the bathroom.
If it means it's the only aisle seat I can get,
I'm totally on board with that.
Right, but you're automatically bumped back
unless there's like the auto check-in
that a lot of people have.
But if you pay the extra $40, and I have done this
every time I flown southwest, it is worth it.
Ugh.
The reason why people want to get out,
because they want to put their bag on the top,
because they're just getting there.
I'm getting there.
Trust me, because that's on the list, too.
Number eight.
Eight.
When you're going through TSA, have your ID
ready at both baggage check-in and at TSA.
Have it in your hand.
When I go to the airport, and I'm checking in my luggage,
because on trips like I'm going on last week
and this week, I have to pack a full bag
because I've gone for a full week.
And I'm not ever going to unpack it
because I'm in multiple cities.
Again, I love the travel.
I am having a blast on this Tommy Boy Tour,
and it's going really, really well,
so I couldn't be happier.
When I check it in, and I pay for my bags,
it's a little kiosk.
I'm already pulling out my ID,
because I know I'm going to have to give it
to the lady when I check it in,
and I'm holding on to my ID,
because what I'm going to do,
when I'm in the line for TSA,
I'm going to take everything out of my pockets
and put it in my laptop bag.
Because that way, I don't have to,
the only thing I'm going to have to do
is take off my belt, take off my shoes.
Sometimes I have to take off my ring, sometimes I don't.
I've actually had TSA agents go,
no, no, no, keep the wedding ring on,
because we're not going to be responsible.
We can't deal with it if it disappears.
Sometimes I have to take them off.
And I'm fine with it either way,
because these people are doing their job.
But have your ID ready with your boarding pass?
They make like a hanging wallet,
which I realize isn't fashionable,
but they make them where they are.
Yes.
Hold your passport,
because if you're doing international.
Indeed.
Your ticket, your ID.
Absolutely.
And a couple bucks cash.
So that way, well, maybe more than a couple,
because we are talking airport prices.
But you can have that handy,
and especially if you're dealing with children
in multiple bags, that's right there.
I had a lady in front of me in line,
who had small twins, boy and girl.
Now their naming convention a little weird,
we can talk about fair.
But she had down to science, man.
Kids got restless.
We got to the point where the counter,
she would tell the kids, hands on the counter.
Oh yeah.
And they had their hands on the counter
while she was amazing.
I was thoroughly impressed.
That's a hero.
I was thoroughly impressed,
because they were flying from Phoenix to Baltimore.
God love you.
God love you.
Who wants to play who can swallow the most Tylenol?
And she was amazing.
She had it down to a science.
They were moving.
They move forward,
hand out a different piece of the counter.
I mean, she was on fire.
But just have it ready,
because there are people behind you.
And it is actually surprisingly easy
to get TSA pre-check now.
80 bucks for five years.
I am on my mind.
What I find 80 bucks that,
and plus the cool thing about TSA pre-checking,
when I got 80 bucks to spare, it's happening.
Because you can use it at concert venues too.
Yes, you can.
I went to that lady at a Bellum concert.
I was like, wait a minute.
I can do TSA pre-check.
This is amazing.
Yeah.
And it's one quick interview where they basically,
if you have the energy to go to a separate location
for one of these companies that does verify
the TSA pre-check,
it took me 15 minutes.
Yeah, once I can find 80 bucks,
unless I can get the company to pay for it.
80 bucks for five years.
I thought it was a lot more expensive than that.
Shout out to the sensational Shawnee for making me do that.
And I greatly appreciate it.
Number seven, Don mentioned bin space.
If you're going to you,
if you end up having to use overhead bin space,
that's behind your row.
Totally understand.
It happens.
You gotta wait till everybody else debords
before you go out to your bag.
Absolutely.
Because you're holding me up.
Pause.
I'm trying to get off this plane and get to where I'm going.
You know what I mean?
And Don's absolutely right in that category.
Because see, my thing is,
I only take what can fit underneath my seat in front of me.
I'm not going to be the guy that takes up bin space.
I'll check my bag.
Because all I'm going to bring with me on that plane
is my laptop and anything that I need,
like my ID, like my wallet and any cords that I need.
That's the ball game.
I'm good with that.
And I'll tell you guys a story off the air
and I want you to think about the following statement.
The second amendment kept me from having to buy a new wardrobe.
And I'll tell you that story off there.
And if you want to hear that story,
I can tell you that.
Because I don't want to tell the story.
Because we're already running behind.
Number six, don't get snooty
if somebody doesn't want to trade seats with you.
Like you knew where you were sitting
when you booked the flight homes.
Yeah, and I always booked the aisle.
I'm the same way.
I'm sorry that you couldn't book your entire family together.
I feel for you.
That's time and that's on you.
I am what's called a man of size.
You don't want me in a middle seat.
Actually, you may not care.
But people on either side of you
don't want me in a middle seat.
So sorry if you've got a deal with your family
that's sitting behind you.
I feel bad for you.
Now if it's an extreme case,
I don't mind giving up my seat if need be.
But if it's just because you feel bad
because you didn't check in until a half an hour
before flight time or you're flying standby, sorry.
If I would move from an aisle to an aisle,
I don't care to keep putting a family together.
But I'm not going to go to a middle seat.
Absolutely not.
Because I'm trying to be courteous
to the people around me too.
Because I don't mind leaning out into the aisle.
It doesn't bother me.
If I'm in a middle seat, I got nothing.
And I feel bad for it because it gets into my head.
Yeah, and I have other issues with being in the middle
and having men of a size next to me.
I mean, I was on a flight where I was on a window
and there was to do bigger than me in the middle.
That was a rough deal.
It turned out to be a really nice guy.
I had a great conversation with him,
but I felt bad for him.
Number five, go ahead.
For the people of a certain size,
the other one is the exit rows on American flights.
Yes, you get the extra leg room you pay for,
but they have solid walls in the armrest
that you cannot move.
If you are of a certain size,
it will not be comfortable.
Yep, yep, yep, yep, you're right.
Number five, check in 24 hours ahead of time.
You have a better chance of getting the seat that you want.
It's also easier than ever.
Yeah, it's really easy because I have that American app
and it gives me an alert.
Hey, check into your flight, Haas.
Actually, I already booked my seats already.
Yeah, a lot of times you can, but sometimes they don't let you.
It depends on the flight.
Yeah, we did, but you also need to double check too
because sometimes it tells you you can
and you end up losing those seats.
Oh, actually, I just checked today.
We still have our seats, but still double check 24 hours ahead.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Always double check.
And I forgot it now.
It's like one of the hotel I'm staying in tomorrow.
Shout out residents in, shout out to the Marriott app.
I'm checked into the hotel already.
So when I walk in the door, they're like drop and go
and Avis, shout out to Avis.
I'm a frequent, I have their app.
I have a frequent driver.
So when I get there, I just don't even go to the counter.
I, they got my name on the big board.
And also shout out to Avis because there were four of us on this trip.
All adults, all with bags.
We got to Phoenix, and I got an email that said,
your GT convertible Mustang will be waiting for you.
As much as I like this, this is not going to work.
And all they did was like, Mr. Urban, we totally get it.
Here's a row, pick a car off that row.
So we got into a dodge of some form.
A journey.
It had this a third seat.
It had a foldable, I think I'm out of a journey.
It's a journey or a gerango likely.
It was not a gerango, it was a journey.
Respect.
Big fan of that vehicle.
Very much enjoyed driving that vehicle.
So again, check in 24 hours ahead of time.
And make sure, and sometimes when you check in,
you get to the airport, you can get better seats too.
That's, I've had that happen to me.
Number four, we talked about the rental car.
Have your paperwork ready.
It's easier than ever to get your rental car taken care of.
Just have your paperwork ready.
Have your car in your hand.
Have your ID in your hand, because you can get it done quickly.
And if you can be a member of an app, get it done.
Even if you travel once every year or once every two years,
those memberships last forever.
Oh yeah.
And get on as many of them as you can think of.
Because a lot of them will cross over,
and you'll get the rewards quicker too.
Marriott's one of the best.
I'm a big fan of Marriott.
I will say in any of their hotels,
I don't matter where I go.
Because they're apps amazing.
And American Airlines, same way, Avis, same way.
Let's see.
Number three, understand that there are people behind you
in line.
Let's keep it moving.
Let's keep it moving.
My headphones can only keep so much of my sanity.
Don't ask 20,000 questions.
Let's keep it moving.
Number two, respect the people below you at a hotel.
Or next year.
Either way, I'm good.
I don't need to hear some on my ceiling.
You know, when I go to a hotel, I say,
I could give me as high of a floor as you can give me.
Because I know it, and I can be respectful,
but I will walk softly to go to the bathroom,
especially if it's in the middle of the night.
Oh yeah, or there's the other middle of the night activities
that was at Michael J. Fox directed.
Yes, let's see.
Let's just leave that where it is.
The family show, this respect that walls can be thin.
Because I've had that happen too.
And number one, it's very important.
Keep your children in line.
That's individual is your friend.
Benadrill is your friend.
I don't know what's going on.
And like I get like kids in the air pressure.
Like if the kid's gonna cry, I'm gonna,
I can roll with you.
I get it because not everybody can do the ear popping thing
properly.
But when your kids kick in my chair,
you should be allowed to kick in.
I'm telling you, this flight all I did was just turn my head.
Because the mom was sitting across the aisle.
So you were right next to your kid.
All I did was turn my head and she caught me.
She was like, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
10 minutes later, turn around,
like just tell you kid, don't kick the chair.
Don't kick the chair.
Because I'm gonna tell you something.
My mother had the fear of God in me.
I'm gonna tell you one time.
And then after that, I will beat you down
in front of God and everybody.
And I'm scared to do it.
So I just teach you kid manners.
It's all it is.
Teach them manners.
Teach them what manners are.
And how bad a back end hurts.
Yeah, I mean, I don't mind.
Like the little baby that was in front of me
and I could see him through the,
I have my making faces out of them.
Make the baby make the baby smile.
It's gonna help you act.
Kind of problem with it.
I love kids.
I think kids are amazing.
They're little humans.
But teach them some respect for other people.
Here's a thing.
You try it just when you're kid.
They're gonna, some idiots gonna make a videotape
on their cell phone and put on YouTube.
But if you take the time and teach them respect
at home, you don't have to worry about that
when you are in public.
Like a lady with the twins.
I didn't have your control.
She, I'm telling you, she had it down to a science.
And she was, the whole time she's like,
I am so sorry.
I'm like, no, you do you.
I'm totally okay with it.
It's kind of like, and let's do it one quick,
ancillary one.
I know we're in a little bit behind.
But if you get the four little S's on your boarding pass,
it says you're gonna go through additional searching.
Deal with it.
Get it every time.
Deal with it.
Because one time, I was finding a witch at all.
And I saw it, I was like, oh man.
And I knew it was because they had booked my travel
like that day.
It was an overnight stay.
That's our microwave red flag.
But I got into the line.
This is how we learned the lesson.
I got into the line.
And the two people in front of me, in same boat,
getting searched.
We're a guy with a prosthetic limb and a priest.
I'm good.
You will take your time.
I get it.
Totally get it.
And also remember that these TSA agents,
they're just doing their job.
Just cooperate.
Sir, it's inconvenient, but it's inconvenient for all of us.
Give these people the respect they deserve
because they're humans.
And I try to dress accordingly.
So it's easy for them to do the search.
Because I'm usually the one on search.
Oh, absolutely.
I'm telling you, because I'm wearing comfortable clothes.
My shoes are often in the bin.
I already know that I've got my laptop and my iPad.
So I've got to have two separate bins, one for each one of those.
And I've got, again, I've got everything stuffed into my laptop bag.
My, except for my ID, because I got to have that out
when I do the deal.
So that way, I'll take five minutes
as soon as I walk through the deal and do the JZ thing.
Scan me, let me go.
And sometimes you're like, sir, we have to have fun.
You know, you're doing your job.
I get it.
I'm gonna go sit on a bench and put my shoes back on.
It doesn't bother me.
Because I'm gonna get to the airport a couple hours ahead of time.
Oh, yeah.
So I'm not rushing to the gate.
Just some things that the holidays are coming up.
Don's getting ready to travel this week, you know?
He already looks traumatized.
Well, we had the other night,
when we went to see a Christmas Carol,
we went to that eye-op on Spring Valley in 75.
Yes, you did.
They're, with the kids thing, I'm sorry.
Some of these parents, they expect the people
that were doing a day babysitter kids,
and I couldn't deal with that.
The mom was there.
She was trying to work with the one kid
and the second kid started in.
But the one kid was extra special.
Okay, fair enough.
Okay, I get her stand up.
I mean, I wasn't there, I can't say.
No, no, no, no, you guys were there.
Yeah, no, but it was, it was, it was bad.
She'd get one and she actually was picking up the child
and it said, I'm taking you to the bathroom
and the child calmed down.
It took that threat, but she made it.
But I felt for the mom, but it was bad.
We were talking like a 15, 20 minute meltdown.
But it also was after six o'clock
that she was getting her kids fed
and she was feeding them pancakes with whipped topping
and other sugar.
She was firing up at the sugar.
No, and that's just like, you ever see,
you're not playing and all of a sudden
you see that person walk in with that baby
in their hands and they sit next to, wherever they sit down.
I always, it's always kind of funny
because if that does happen, I look and see
and watch the people around them
when that person sits down and they realize
they're gonna have that kid sit next to him
the whole time.
It's, oh Lord, not please.
Bro, that's why I got headphones.
Please don't sit next to it.
Please not here.
Oh Lord, no.
That's why I got headphones.
Trust.
My first class people are so mad at hell there,
they bring a child in the first class
and all that stuff.
You know what?
I've only flown first class once
and it was a flight from Dallas to Memphis.
So it's literally like, boom, the captain has turned
off the fast and seat belt sign.
Boom, the captain has turned the fast and seat belt sign on.
Like that's how quick that flight was.
Yeah, you get one drink.
I would just, I would,
that's why you have to be able to fly first class.
I've never flown it.
I've always wanted to.
I want to do it, but I want to do it for a flight.
Like, when I go out to San Francisco.
That's what I'm saying.
I wanted to get a decent size flight.
It's a length, yeah.
Or Hawaii.
I wouldn't mind going back to Hawaii in first class.
I wouldn't like, like, you know, going.
Just saying, but let's, let's point out that.
But you know what, given credit,
he actually knew this song because I was reminded
the other day, I remember, I was reminded
the other day of a moment Don had on this show
where we were talking about Norman Greenbaum spirit
in the sky.
And Don's response was spirit in the sky.
Keep on turning.
Wrong side.
That was journey.
And that's wheel in the sky.
But at least he got that one right, given credit.
And going back the time I went to Hawaii was 1983.
Oh, wow.
So that was between third and fourth grade
for real age myself.
But that's fair.
I wasn't born yet.
Oh, that's your boy.
That's my free.
That's your boy putting that on you like that.
That's OK.
He can do that.
I will say, though, any chance you get to do first class,
it is totally worth it.
Oh, no, I mean, I'm sure it is.
Every time between DFW and Palm Beach, it's like eight.
That's like three and a half hours.
Absolute.
Oh, and sometimes I don't care.
First class who cares, I pay money.
And sometimes you're not better than everybody else.
Like, what I'm talking about is I am.
No.
Right.
Let me say this one thing.
There was a thing where, and I saw the Facebook posting,
there was a family who was traveling because.
So do we need to put an asterisk because it's Facebook first?
Just go.
Just go.
We're already over time.
Hurry.
I'm hungry.
They were traveling because their family member
was killed in war.
And they're making a fight to take a fight.
And they made an announcement.
Please let the family up first, you know,
because of the fallen.
Yep.
Yep.
The guy, one guy in first class has held, though.
Got up and stood in front of the family to get off the plane.
Well, that guy's going to have to answer for his own actions.
Yeah.
That's on his eternal soul.
Yeah.
So that being said.
Yeah.
Want to thank you for joining us this evening.
Don, finishing the show strong tonight.
So if that happens, stain your seat and let the family off first.
It's all about human respect.
Let's do the plugs and get out of here because that was just really awkward.
Go to our website, please.
