It is 7-0-1 on the East Coast.
It is 4-0-1 on the West Coast.
It is the 12th of November in the year of our Lord 2017.
It is season 8, episode 18, chronologically 421 times this voice has welcomed you to the
Clubhouse podcast.
No matter how you're listening, whether you're live with us on Ustream, whether you're
checking us out on the archive, or whether you subscribe on your favorite podcast app,
we're just happy you're here.
Welcome.
My name is Rob.
I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse podcast, and it's going to be a crazy week.
I felt anxiety that I haven't felt in a long time.
I don't know if ever.
When you have four dreams in one night and all of them involve the same thing, even though
they're all completely unrelated, that's all I'm saying.
Is my hour up?
I'm sorry.
I'm not alone here in the studio this evening.
Joining me in the co-host chair is the lady of the house, and the woman who showed up
with food, but not enough to share with the class.
She is general.
Welcome, friend.
I'm poor.
What can I say?
I can't afford to hate you a lot.
So say we all.
As we continue clockwise around the room, is the official fact checker of this show?
And a man who apparently cannot say the word GMATI.
You can add that to the list.
You may know I'm his fondongo, but his mom and even Don Ford, I'm going to call him
Don Ford.
I'll call him Paul Spacoli, because I have the same.
And I almost wore my van tennis shoes tonight.
And rounding out the dayus, the latest addition to the madness, and a man that brought me hot
chocolate, because that's America.
Alex is back.
Welcome back, sir.
Actually, you know what?
Try the other one.
I'm only getting one channel out of that.
Yeah, that's the stupid one.
Try to see if there's a switch on it, because it's not working.
Try it now.
Talk now.
Talk now.
It's not doing anything.
No.
This ought to be fun.
Let's try something else.
Hold on.
Because Rob and Don are actually trying to act this one.
Okay.
So it's not that.
Okay.
Hold on.
So we're going to do one more thing.
Go to the other one.
Round two.
Now.
Check.
Round two.
Now.
Try now.
Check.
Well, I don't know what's going on.
Everything's going.
Hey.
You guys can just share.
There we go.
Now they're both working, right?
Okay.
There we go.
Wait.
Yeah.
Now I'm getting both channels.
You're welcome.
Lord only knows.
Everybody's here.
This is what happens when we don't do pre-show.
Okay.
And you had a week of off.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
We were off last week.
Want to thank everybody for hanging out with us.
How do great time last weekend?
We'll talk a little bit about the wedding as the show goes on.
Brent and Emily had a great wedding.
Gordon Ramsey showed up in the hotel bar the first night I was in New York.
And you didn't call me?
It was late.
Okay.
We got off the plane in La Guardia, which means I had to get off the plane, get my bag, get
to a bus, to get to a shuttle, to get to the rental car place, to get to the hotel.
That entire operation was three hours.
And it was 40 miles from the rental car place to the hotel.
Hold on.
On three.
Can you move volume on three?
Is your phone's up a little bit?
You have that over there.
It's already full and he can.
I can't.
Okay.
You have complete control of it.
There's a small thing on the lapel of that.
On the headphones.
Of the headphones.
Of the headphones.
There's a little thing.
I love the technology.
And I'm learning so much.
Is that better?
I think we're.
Nope.
Okay.
Now I'm here.
Okay.
Yeah.
We're going to have to get some.
Tell me why.
Do we have a connector?
Okay.
Actually, that's not going to reach far enough over there.
We're going to get an extension for those new headphones.
No, we're good.
Okay.
All right.
Let's just talk real quick about this before we get into it.
All right.
A beautiful ceremony.
At a very little two-floor restaurant in Nyak, New York.
Which is in relation to New York City.
Close.
Okay.
I did a lot of driving.
Lots of tolls.
Myself and the groomsmen all walk down to the Danny Elfman 89 Batman theme.
For those of you that don't know Brent is a comic artist.
He is currently working on new Superman.
That is his work you're seeing currently.
Emily also an artist, both very, very talented.
He walked into the Christopher Reeves Superman theme.
John Williams.
She walked into the new Wonder Woman theme.
Oh.
So they got to, she got, she and her dad got to the front row.
And I told them this was happening.
So this wasn't a surprise.
But I opened up my iPad and I said,
wow, tour, wow.
Got everybody in the right mood and then had, you know,
who gives this woman a way to be this man.
She comes up and she gets to the front.
And she looks at me and she says, hold on.
And I'm like, okay.
Gives her bouquet to the maid of honor.
Reaches into the back of the dress and pulls out the God killer.
Oh.
Oh.
Nobody knew.
Nobody knew.
Except her and the girl that helped her put it in the dress.
Oh, you didn't even know.
No, I didn't even know.
Oh, that is so awesome.
So they did their own vows.
Beautiful ceremony.
Beautiful hotel that we stayed at called the time.
And as my Instagram post said, I did not see Jerome or Morris Day.
I was a little upset about that.
Oh.
Or Jay or Simon Bob.
Well, that but said the time was before them though.
Well, no, I know, but because they do.
That's the guy back.
But, but, you know, post script to that speaking of them.
Friday night, I got a Facebook message from Emily.
They were at a hockey game in Kansas City for a minor league team
with mues and comic book men.
So.
Yeah.
And I've seen.
They know.
They know people.
I've seen photos from both events.
So.
Went through the ceremony.
They were going to pay.
They were doing some.
Because the reception was in the same room as this ceremony.
So we all had to go downstairs to the open bar.
Yeah.
Had some wonderful hors d'oeuvres.
I never knew how much I needed to have a lobster, a lobster, a BLT in my life.
And I need to explain.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was.
There were little sliders.
Layer of lobster.
Good.
Underneath BLT.
Okay.
Then I had a sampled, a grilled cheese with organic truffles.
Oh.
Oh, Maraca.
There were some other barbecue pork sliders involved.
There was tuna tartar.
Which I'm not a big guacamole fan, but there was a thin layer of guacamole.
I found very, very good.
Wonderful food.
And that this is.
We haven't even talked to dinner yet.
We had to go back upstairs for dinner.
On top of a very beautiful meat and cheese table that was huge with all like prosciutto
and beautiful cuts of meat and cheeses and things.
And then we had a nice balsamic salad to start the meal.
We had what they called mini muffins.
Those were cornbread.
Let's be real.
Yes.
There was grilled octopus.
I've had a bed of potatoes, very, very enjoyable.
Then there was crab cakes involved.
Your main course, you got the choice of chicken, fish or steak.
Being an American, I chose the latter.
With some green beans and truffle fries.
And then there were desserts that I could not partake in.
But two different kinds of cake.
There was creme brulee.
There was banana pudding.
Open bar.
Each one of them had their own drink that they designed for the wedding.
Him being Superman theme, her being Wonder Woman theme.
And then as we left,
they were, they have a bunch of artist friends who all got together and did commissions for them.
They put into a small comic book type thing that they gave to everybody as they left the reception.
Mine's actually in the green room right now.
If you want to grab it, Alex, it's on the table out there.
You'll know what it is as soon as you see it.
It should be on the couch side.
It's really, really cool.
And it was so much fun.
And then we all went back to the hotel after and hung out for a while.
It was funny because Brent wanted to get out of his suit.
Because he wanted to put in, I'll put on a, you want to keep his suit,
but put his on Superman shirts.
Okay, get that.
We got to the bar.
He was not wearing his Superman shirt.
I said, dude, you're not wearing your Superman shirt.
He goes, I know I had to wear the shirt that my in-laws got for me.
His shirt, that his in-laws bought for him literally said,
wedded or married AF.
I said, well played, sir.
But yeah.
But had to get up a little early on Sunday because it was the New York City Marathon.
So I had to work that into my commute back to the airport.
But how did great time.
And we're going to talk more about one.
Let me make sure I got this on right on the, do I?
Yeah, we're going to talk about one other aspect of the trip as part of
P.O.I. tonight.
Well, and on the New York Marathon, I have my friend in New York who,
her stage name is Grace Gotham.
So her husband gets referred to as Mr. Gotham.
He was actually running in the New York Marathon.
And first time in 40 years, a, an American woman one.
Yes, that's it, right there.
This, just a backtrack a little bit, is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
It's kind of a comic book, but it's kind of, it's just more of a sketchbook.
But feel free to flip through it as we go along.
There's some great stuff in there by some great artists.
Oh, this is phenomenal.
It's beautiful.
I can no longer get married because of this.
People who can't see it.
You didn't know we were talking.
Yeah, I'm, I'm talking to Brent Emily to see if they'll let me put pictures of it
up on social media.
I just, I just don't want to infringe on any, any copyrights to anybody.
Yeah, so, but everybody got one and they gave me a nice little bag of stuff,
you know, for being, for officiating.
It was beautiful, beautiful wedding, beautiful weekend.
But there, I could not be happier for the two of them.
I actually said, you know, during the ceremony that as, as on a personal note,
one of the things that I gauge the success of a relationship on is,
are they the same people apart that they are together?
And they're both exactly as goofy apart as they are together.
And seeing them write their own vows and read their own vows.
And I'm just seeing page upon page.
We're going to be here for all.
But it was great.
And I was such a fan of both of those kids.
It was funny because when I asked for the rings, Brent looked at me and he goes,
Emily's is the smaller one.
I go, thank you Captain Obvious.
So, I love those kids so much.
You know, I told Emily that she can now be ant Emily to the cats
because she is now officially in the family because Brent is my little brother.
It was really cool.
And I got to meet some of his friends in the comic industry who are all high quality humans.
We had some great conversation.
Her family is, I've never met her family before, a great group of people.
It was funny because his mom, I've met his mom for the first time.
And his mom actually said, I've heard your name for years.
Like, well, I've known the kid almost two decades.
So, congratulations kids.
I'm so proud of you and I love you both so much.
I'm so honored that you asked me to be a part of your day.
And the tux actually fit me still after I got it altered.
So, I feel pretty good about that.
Fantastic.
It fit in all the right places in the right ways.
I didn't have to change out the pants.
So, we were good.
So, you're saying it accentuated the positives?
I would say accentuated.
It just didn't not fit.
We can just put it that way.
So, let's go ahead and get into some updates and corrections.
We've already done an update from last week.
Roman J. Israel Esquire is not based on a true story.
I did verify that this week, so that's on me.
All right, so let's get into NASCAR.
It's just about time to crown a champion.
The next to the last race happened two days.
At Phoenix.
Just Phoenix Raceway.
Are we not saying what the name of this race was?
Let me just see if I can get the name of the race.
We are so prepared tonight.
It is so under contingent.
This was the Cannam 500.
I got nothing.
So, here's your top 10 finishers,
because the race ended just a little while before the show started.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. comes in 10, starting in 14th,
and the number 88 Chevrolet, Eric Almarola,
and the number 43 Ford in 9 starts in 20 seconds,
starting in 27th and finishing 8th,
and the 17 Ford Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
I feel like that's a brand of like salad dressings.
I should say that's Ken Stake has never mind.
Kyle Busch.
Three of your, all actually four of your playoff racers
finish in the top 10 today.
And the number 18 Toyota, he finishes 7th, starts in 8th,
starting in 13th, and winding up in 6th.
There were quite a few wrecks today, by the way.
And the number 7 Chevrolet, Jamie McMurray.
Starting in 6th, and winding up in 5th,
and the number 4 Ford Kevin Harvick, Eric Jones.
And the number 77 Toyota starts in 11th, ends up in 4th.
Martin Truex Jr.
And the 78 Toyota starts in 5th, winds up in the bronze medal.
Chase Elliott.
Attorney-in-law.
24 Chevrolet starts in 4th, ends in the silver.
Winning the race, not in the playoffs,
but winning the race, because you can still do that in NASCAR.
Starting in 7th, and winning in the number 20 Toyota, Matt Kenseth.
So your final four is set for next week.
I don't have the official listings yet.
Let me see if I can get them.
Because going into today, you had Blaney, Kenseth, Hamlin, Elliott,
Keselowski, Truex, Bush, and Harvick.
That's going into today.
Let me see if I can get the official word of your,
because next week will be your final four.
So, stupid banner ads.
Oh, stop it.
No, of course, light.
I don't care that you know where they're going.
Now it's born or not.
All right, here we go.
A full championship for picture.
Okay, here's your final four.
Keselowski, Truex, Jr., Kyle Bush, and Kevin Harvick.
So here's how this works.
We're going to homestead next week for the final race of the season.
And a lot of people say, what sport has the shortest off season?
It's NASCAR.
I don't care what anybody else says.
People say hockey's a close second.
Because the thing with NASCAR is everybody goes all the way through.
So the day, the day, the total of 500 is like,
that one times a weekend.
So these guys get like six weeks where they're not racing pretty much.
So next week, the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead in Miami.
Everybody races.
But really, the thing you're watching for is for these four gentlemen.
Whichever of these four finishes the race highest,
they don't necessarily have to win.
They just have, it's like the whole thing.
I don't have to outrun the bear.
I just have to outrun you.
Same basic principle.
Whoever finishes the highest in this race will win the championship.
Next Sunday at 230 Eastern on NBC proper.
As we go into Thanksgiving week.
So that's what's going on there.
And then we won't have to talk about NASCAR for a little while.
And then hopefully barbed wire can educate me a little bit better.
Because I'm still trying to figure it all out.
Can I get in on that training classes?
We don't have training classes.
He just kind of tells me as it goes.
If you try reading a point system, which he did once.
I mean, yeah, if your fifth grade teacher had a last name,
are you get two points?
And if it wasn't for you?
I've said it before and I will say it again.
I can fix the NASCAR point problem.
Here's how you do it.
I just need a NASCAR.
I am the smartest man alive.
Here's how you do it.
Every race winner gets one point.
Second, two, three, four, all the way down.
Golf rules, end of the season, lowest score wins.
There you go.
Done.
That would, yeah.
Well, when happens if you have a year where that's decided a month to go.
Or if you wanted to combine the two, get down to your final eight weeks.
And then your top 16.
Because the way they do it now, you get your top 16 drivers.
They reset the points.
Yep.
And then you do it again as you will down.
I'm okay with that.
But the way you do it now, you have like three stages.
Then you stop between the stages.
And there's a halftime.
I don't even know what's going on at this point.
I don't think any.
Golf's scoring system makes more sense than NASCAR.
Yes, it does.
February 18th is Daytona.
Yeah.
I mean, they're basically to get Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day.
And here we go.
Yep.
But I mean, they're getting to have the holidays with their family, which is great is not all sports.
And the only sport that starts with the Super Bowl.
The Daytona is the first race of the year.
And that's two weeks after the Super Bowl, the actual Super Bowl.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's talk about some TV headlines to get into it because we want our all things pop culture.
Westworld season two set to debut in the spring at this point.
There has been a halt in production due to some injuries to some of the stunt people.
So we don't know if that's actually going to happen or not.
But right now, that is the rumor.
I am ready for Westworld season two.
Westworld was one of those shows that I really like the movie as a kid.
But I was kind of like, is this going to work as a TV show?
And then I watched the first episode and went.
Season pass.
Because again, Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright.
Kind of good.
Yeah.
But question.
Yes, sir.
Do you think it might turn into a true detective?
You need to know what I mean by that.
I hope not.
Let's see.
They're not changing the whole bit.
But you're getting season three or true detective anyway.
But first season was incredible season two.
Because of the failure of vinyl.
And you're like, what?
You know, on season two?
No, I'm with you.
I'm with you.
Two weeks or the last episode of SNL, which week before last, was terrible.
Larry David and Miley Cyrus.
Last night, my wife said it was better.
She actually enjoyed last night.
But this coming week, your host is chance the rapper.
Okay.
So you would say to yourself, well, obviously, if you have a musician as the host and the musician will be the musical guest.
No.
Not so fast, my friend.
M&M will be your musical guest.
Okay.
I might have to tune in for that.
I'm interested.
I'm intrigued.
Normally, I fast forward for the music.
This is what I turn on to.
Well, the Miley Cyrus thing was weird because her second performance was so late in the show.
I didn't think she was going to get a second performance because that's happened before.
Yeah.
Where a performer only did one song.
And both of her songs.
I mean, she looked great.
Absolutely beautiful.
But just their performances did nothing for me.
Yeah.
Not a dog auntie.
Fox has renewed the Orville for season two.
Good.
So congratulations to Seth.
Apparently, Ralph Garmin has a character that will be starting either this past week or this coming week.
Because he's part of the cast of Family Guy.
So he's got that going for him.
FX has renewed better things for season three.
This is the Pamela Alden show.
I'll be interested to see how it works because there's a certain person that's an executive producer on that show that's not in the best of lights.
And who also she gets along really well with and hit a show with.
So we'll see.
Showtime has renewed Ray Donovan for season six.
And shameless.
And shameless for season nine.
Because on five, how five ended?
You didn't know.
And there's rumors that maybe Ray Donovan was going to end.
No, but they said this week.
Yeah.
Well, they sort of get to that point where they're just like, OK, we got to end this somewhat different case.
Right.
But that's how a bunch of these shows take it.
That's how they did it.
They get to their fifth, sixth season.
And every season could end it just in case.
So in news that kind of makes me sad.
Not because I watch the show, but because I'm a fan of at least one of the people involved in it.
Me, myself and I with the Bobby Moynihan and the John Lara cat.
Yeah.
CBS has postponed the remaining episodes.
Yeah.
They haven't said why they just have.
And they have canceled zoo.
Never watched it.
I tried.
One of the other shows.
Summer shows.
I tried one or two.
USA is not renewing their final half hour show called Playing House.
Never watched an episode.
But what could be the strangest news of the week in television?
Netflix is doing a show called The Good Cop coming very soon.
Let me give you your two leads.
Josh Groban.
Big fan.
Big, big fan.
Tony Danza.
Oh, be close to Tony Danza.
Oh, that's a funny dancer.
Did you watch Friends?
I'm sorry, Donna.
Are you correcting somebody?
Hey, I'm the fact checker.
And hey.
I'll be right back.
I'll be right back.
I'll be right back.
I'll be right back.
I'll be right back.
I'll be right back.
Oh, you went after TV talk.
Why did you just break?
No, they're not.
Why did you just break out in high spots?
Oh my god.
Oh, the VHS.
This is the VHS of sweating to the oldies three.
Three.
And are you bringing gift for me?
Oh, my god.
There's VHS tape.
There's one over there.
I forgot.
Oh, god.
I have to read this.
I have to read that the description on the back, you ready?
I have just one question to ask you.
Do you want to dance, want to sweat, want to turn your body and do a fat burning machine?
I'm not making this up, this is actually the words. Well then, sweat and three is your cup of tea.
Here's your ticket to an in-quotations sweat and land. I don't think I would want to visit there.
My low cow amusement park where I'm taking your heart on a roller coaster ride and your hips through
the tunnel of love. I am very uncomfortable right now.
Come join my friends in me for this one hour low-impact class that'll make you tweet like rock and
robin. The sweat and band will be on hand to play that hot music while you jam. Are you ready to
quote, give me some loving and quote, were you quote, born to be wild and quote, well quote,
let me build you up buttercup and quote, have a good time. Love Richard Simmons.
Yeah, look at the front. Look at the front. This is real. There's a song list right there at the bottom.
Do you want to dance? Give me some love in the name game out of limits. Louis Louis,
build me up buttercup, California Dreaming, born to be wild, rock and robin and I get around.
Copyright 1991. Second wheel gone. Oh, and it does come with a ticket. Oh, no. Is that a ticket to ride?
That's awkward. Very. With your top 10 guidelines. Number one, pace yourself.
Number two, get checked out with your physician. Number three, look the part where good athletic shoes
and comfortable clothing. Number four, don't stuff and run and never exercise on a full stomach.
And then in front of these, why are you eating a big meal? Number four. Oh, God, I can't even, I just
want to point. I'm done. I can't read anymore. This is going to get really weird. Don has not taken
his hand out of the bag that appeared from nowhere like there is more. Oh, there is more. Oh,
God, there's one thing I forgot about. Easy. Easy. Okay. This came with it. Oh, no.
Stretching to the classics. First of all, the VHS tapes in their upside down. Oh, there's a poem on
the back. Roses are red. Violets are blue. Here is a stretch tape I made just for you. Oh,
there's classical music. You have loved and heard. And to your surprise, I don't utter a word.
From the tips of your fingers to those 10 little toes, I'll get rid of your arches, your pain,
and your woes. Signed Richard Simmons. And the front cover looks like it belongs on a
harlequin romance with only one character. Stretching to the classics. I need to show her.
And the classics, by the way, are Pier Gint Suite No. 1 Opus 46 Morning by Edvard Greene,
Waltz and A Flat No. 15 Opus 39 by Johann Brahms, Canon and D Major by Will Helm,
Heronymous Packebel, Carmen Suite Habanera,
by George Bizet, and Shizurad Selection by Nikolai Grimsky Korosov.
Why do you still have these? Because it's comedic. That's why you know he didn't plan that.
Oh. Wow. That just happened. Just lost a wheel. All right. Here's your TVD on DVD and Blu-ray.
Perfect timing because that's what we're this segment came from too. We've got.
Anybody that says this show is predictable lives in the future. Preacher season two on DVD and Blu-ray
this week, Doctor Who series 10, Dragon Ball Z, seasons one through nine, seven to heaven,
the complete series, CSI, the Miami, the complete series, DC Follies, the complete series.
If you want to go that far back, the dukes of hazard, the complete series, Kung Fu, the
complete series, and a documentary I'm very interested in, NXT, from Secret to Sensation.
Oh, I'm interested in that. All right, so let's do some POI. POI is, since we're person of interest,
it is a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity and we debate their greatness
or lack their up. Is it Richard Simmons this week? It is not Richard Simmons this week.
Oh boy. This is my life. People hear that sound like, is that vodka? I will neither confirm nor deny.
So I want to go back to the wedding last weekend as we get into POI because I want to talk about
a little thing called Alaska Airlines. This was the airline that I flew to and from LaGuardia.
I do not, I do not fault them for LaGuardia because LaGuardia is a hot mess.
LaGuardia is LaGuardia. It's like nothing's been updated since 1978 and they decided to do it all at
one time. For the last 10 years, it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I will say the flight experience itself
absolutely impressive. It was non-stop from Dallas Love Field, which by the way, Dallas Love Field
beautiful. They'd done a great job. There's a waterburger in there now. There's a Chick-fil-A in there
now. I learned this while I was in, they were showing a little bit on entrepreneurship. In the
airport, I realized that the guy that invented Paul Mitchell hair products also founded Patrone,
did not know that. But I will say the flight experience itself very impressive. It is the first time
in a long time that I have sat in an airline seat and neither one of my hips hit an armrest
in standard class, not first class in standard class, very impressive. Only about 50 people per flight.
It's about 20 rows in the plane, two on each side, and then two in one in first class.
So not really a crowded flight. Good beverage service. They had Coke Zero, which I can now drink
because they've changed the formula and it's wonderful. I will say the smaller cups than I would have
gotten on American Airlines, but I'll fight through it. And why is every airline given out these
Biscotti cookies now? But give me pretzels. I like pretzels. I shouldn't have had many cookies
this past weekend, being free diabetic. I may have to. But again, the flight experience
impressive. I'm a little disappointed with go-go in flight because they're not letting you just
have Wi-Fi for your flight now. You actually have to pay for it even for just one flight,
which I find annoying. But that's not their fault. Downside, they didn't have, at least I couldn't
find a way to plug my phone into charge it. But I mean, that's not that big of a deal. My battery
made it long enough. But again, in flight experience, absolutely amazing, very impressive. I also don't
fault them for the fact that my gate changed before I flew back from LaGuardia and it was in a
different part of the terminal. So I had to leave security and then come back through security.
I don't fault them. That's Frontier Airlines's fault because the flight that was in my gate
before mine was delayed. But that's also something that airports need to work on because some of the
and apparently LaGuardia was built in the late 30s. So maybe remodel was then, but the airport
itself was built back then. So security wasn't something they considered. Here's the downside.
And I know again, I'm not complaining. Let's be real for a minute. Wonderful weekend. Nothing
was going to ruin this weekend. When I got to look, because I had to leave a lot earlier on
Sunday morning because the New York City Marathon was a thing. And there were times where I could
look in my rear view and see them putting the barricades up. Like I left a hotel at 5.30 in the
morning. My flight was at 11.25. I was not getting caught up in this traffic. That dog won't hunt.
So I get to LaGuardia. I got to LaGuardia about seven.
American Airlines. Hoppin. Delta Airlines. Hoppin. What day of the week is this Sunday morning?
Sunday morning. Okay. Last this past Sunday. The counter at Alaska was not open.
But not a problem. I can check in in the kiosk. Got my my bag tag printed up. Eight o'clock
rolls around. Still nobody. What time was your flight? 11.25. 815 rolls around. Nobody at the counter.
So I call Alaska Airlines. I'm like, Hey, because by this time there's a handful of people there.
And I'm like, Hey, there's nobody here. And all the signs above the terminals are just like
position closed. The lady says, Well, the counter usually opens at 10. That counter opens at 10
o'clock on Sunday. I'm like, ma'am, that's kind of tight because my flight's at 11.25.
And she was very polite. But she says, Let me get out of the supervise. Let me find out. She comes
back on the line and says, Well, okay, that counter is going to open at nine. I'm like, Okay, not a
problem. I can sit through it to their credit. Just a few minutes later, somebody came out. I guess
they called down and said, Look, you've got people waiting in the lobby because the oldie flights
that were going out from Alaska that day were love field. They had four flights that day. All of
them to love field. So once we got up and running, everything was fine. I mean, and if that's the
worst thing I dealt with, yeah, great experience overall. They were all wonderful people. I cannot say
enough good things about Alaska Airlines. They do have these premium seats that were like the three
rows in front of me, but I wasn't going to pay an extra 40 bucks to sit right behind first class.
Yeah. Not enough flight that's only got 20 rows. I mean, we boarded and de-boarded quickly,
because there's only 50 people on the flight because I've always said we put a man on the moon.
I have a more powerful computer in my phone than the one NASA used to put a man on the moon.
And we can't figure out how to board and de-board a plane. Well, and why we can't have board and
de-board from like the middle, you go to the front or you go to the back. Exactly. Have two jetways,
boom, boom, boom done. Or more planes less seats. And not charge me nine grand around trip. But
very, very on board with Alaska Airlines. They're actually partnered up with Sky West, I believe.
They're actually partnered with one of the big airlines. Let me look it up on Wikipedia real quick.
But I was really impressed with that experience because they're one of those
like they don't, they're not a huge company, but they're big enough that I knew who they were.
Let's see. Oh, they're partnered with Virgin America.
Is the bigger line that they're partnered with. But again, that was that I had that one little problem.
But if that, I mean, if that's the worst I'm dealing with, I'm okay. And their first class,
very affordable upgrade if I'd had the money to do it. Yeah.
Brent and Emily actually did. And they said it was a great experience.
Flight attendants were great. Pilots were great. No problems. So I wanted to take some time on
the show and shout out to them for really helping a brother out. And you know, I literally was
home for about 19 hours. I was in Westerville for four days came home Thursday night.
Friday morning, Leanne from the church came and picked me up and took me to love field. And
then two days later, Jen was picking me right back up from love field. So I was a little tired,
took Monday off, decompressed a little bit. But shout out to Alaska Airlines for a great
experience. And shout out to the time hotel in NIAC. They were amazing, beautiful hotel.
Only weird thing there was, I was like, oh, I'm on the second floor. I'll just take the stairs.
And I'm like, no, because then the stairs you have to go outside and then come back in.
That was a little weird. Well, because they're set up for the fire escape system.
And if you saw my post on Instagram, lighting under the bed and behind the headboard,
little strange. My wife would not have liked it. My wife does not like contemporary design at all.
This was very contemporary designed. I think the only carpet in the whole place was either in the
hallway or on the first floor. So kind of like the aloft or the nylon concrete walls, which was not
enjoyable when the guy next door to me went to a sneezing fit at one o'clock in the morning. But
again, not their fault. How to again, I had such a great time last weekend and
wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm looking forward to the day where I can have a visit to
New York City last. So I can take some time and see some stuff. Oh, yeah. I've been up there
three times and all three of them have been whirlwind trips. I don't know that I could live up there.
I don't know that I want to go in winter. So let's like wait till the snow melts. But
it depends. Last year they had a real mild winter like we did. But I want to get back up there.
I want to I want to get some now. If you talk about the boarding and de boarding. Oh, I
take so dang long is because everybody carries on their luggage now because there's now
charge in 50 bucks a bag. Yeah, but here's the problem with that.
We need to they need to enforce better the size of the carry-ons. And that you have to take it to
your seat. Like we have these people that bring on these carry-ons that like accordion out and
then it takes them an hour and a half to get into the overhead bin. When I carry on,
if it doesn't fit under the seat, I'm checking it. And now other airlines are talking about
charging for the carry-on that you put up top. It depends on the size of it. See, I just if I
I want to put it plus the fact I want to put it underneath the seat in front of me because it's
going to take me less time when I'm done when I'm but you know, I'm ready to go. Let's go. That's
why the the flight attendants have had that big beef is because they have such a problem with
boarding and unloading because they're now charging 50 bucks a bag to check in, you know,
unlike Southwest Airlines with 25 but still 50 bucks for our trip. Let's say it's funny though
because if it's over 50 pounds and they're going to charge you another 75 bucks and all that.
That's because you're trying to save the health of the people that work there. I understand that's
hard for me is carrying your stupid bag. But still there's that point of, you know, airlines now
just gouge on everything they literally can. And if I try to change the fight, they're going to
charge me $7,550 beyond standby. But when I book for the trips I have coming up, all of a sudden
one of the fights changes from seven to 11 in the morning. Do I get a $50 or $150 discount because
of that? You know what I'm saying? Nobody is as bad as I just totally lost their name.
Oh, spirit. Spirit's the worst. There is there is a tagline for spirits for when you forget
why you hate flooding. Yeah, the thing about spirit is yes, this is $49 fee or $49 fair. Oh,
but as you book fees go on top of fees and top of fees, you know, I once heard of Kami,
it was Craig Shoemaker that was just like, I just chippin' for gas and you'll be fine. Like,
I flew spirit one time. I will never fight them again. Exactly. It's a horror book experience.
I flew it once on purpose and once was booked for me. And all I could say is I can not even consider
getting near their plane let alone on it. And I know part of the reason they did the suitcase
separate or the luggage check separate was they couldn't raise the prices anymore because people
weren't flying. At the same time, I'd rather know I need to pay ABCD. This is what I need to budget
for my trip and when I can afford it, I can take it. Alaska was really good about that because when
I checked into my flight, I could actually pay my baggage fees on the website when I checked in.
It was like the first bag was 25 and then for two bags, it was 60. So you paid a little bit more.
Three bags, 210. Yeah. But then again, you don't need to be bringing that on a plane like that.
Why are you bringing that many bags? Because they do fly to Alaska and some of your winter stuff is
going to be big and bulky and... Shippin. Well, that's what they're trying to encourage because
it's lightweight, but that's what they're trying to encourage. Let's say they do the same kind of
thing with Baham, they try to do the same thing with Bahamas air with people heading over there because
there's so many taxes. And then it got to the point where people were just, no, my eight-year-old has
three bags. I have three bags. You have three bags. Once you hit that fourth, then it's like,
oh, here's my second mortgage. Yeah. Well, and you just get these people that don't quite get how
to do the experience. Like if you're in row two, don't put your bag over row 17.
Well, so I was saying they need to enforce, take your bag to where your seat is because I can't
tell you how many times I've been toward the end to board and then there's no room. Let's see,
that's also why I bring one bag that fits under the seat in front of me. I don't even have to
worry about it. And they're going to tell you. I mean, it's especially like if it's not something
that's mission critical to me, and you're going to do the whole, you don't have to pay for it,
you can check it at the gate and I'll give it right back to you. If it's not mission critical,
here you go because I'm not going to be able to use during the flight anyway. There's nothing
in there that I need during the flight. Yeah. And they do make bags now that are specifically
designed to fit under airline seats. My laptop bag doesn't perfectly because that's all I really
bring with me. Yeah. And when I went to New York, I just took a garment bag because all I needed was
my suit and a couple of changes of clothes. That was it. I wasn't going to pack a full bag
for that. And plus, I didn't want to have to iron a ton when I got there. Yeah. And of course,
for me, it's a little different by the time I had my 15 pair of shoes for one weekend. But you know,
all right. Shout out to Alaska. I want to just move on and do a little football talk because I need
football in my life. College football. What a crazy college football weekend. If you are a gambler
poet, you had a problem this weekend. Let's go through some scores for you.
Northern, if it's not ranked, I'm just going to give you the really good ones.
Northern Illinois beats up on ball state 63 to 17. Let's see. What else? We got Appalachian
State with a big win over Georgia Southern. If you bet on that game, I'm sorry. North Carolina
State number 23 beats Boston College by a field goal. I want to pick up on that. Stanford
upsets number nine Washington 30 to 22. Oklahoma State over Iowa State by a touchdown in a game
it sucks to have the under Minnesota. The golden golfers beat up on Nebraska 54 to 21. My
beloved Florida Gators fall to South Carolina by eight. Number 14 Penn State 35 to six over Rutgers.
Ohio State drive through dropping to 13 beat Michigan State number 12 48 to three. Where was
that team the last two or three weeks? Number 24 LSU beats Arkansas by 23. Let's see. Texas
Tech over Baylor 3824 Virginia Tech upset by Georgia Tech by six UCF beats Yukon 49 to 24. Army
beats Duke by five. Number four Clemson over Florida State big 31 to 14. Always up for a Florida
State loss. Number eight Wisconsin badger badger badger badger badger they beat up on Iowa
number 20 38 to 14. Michigan beats Maryland by a little over three scores. Your beloved Florida
Atlantic Owls taking a lot tech to the wood shed 48 to 23 Alex first place in conference USA baby
and sucks to be number one this weekend as Georgia gets upset by number 10 Auburn and not just
upset destroyed 40 to 17. Yeah that was even worse going into the last quarter.
God USC beats up on Colorado their number 11 38 to 24 Navy beats SMU by a field goal.
Nevada over San Jose State by a lot as just like Kentucky does to Vanderbilt so does everybody else.
North Texas over UTEP by five scores you're right over there done. Okay fair enough.
Let's see number 19 Washington State 3325 over Utah. Texas back on the winning path if they're
beating up on Kansas 42 to 27. Number two Alabama this one got hairy Mississippi State number 16
almost upsets them but Alabama scores in the last two minutes and they win 31 to 24. Northwestern
beats Purdue by 20 their number 25 and then in what could be I actually let's get back to that
Oklahoma wins again by beating number five beats number six TCU 38 to 20
and then there's Notre Dame. I hate to you I hate to you so much because I
and they're almost at the point where I would call them to you again. Yeah they're on the
41 to 8. Number seven over number three.
That's a rough deal. Do you see the college game day sign about comparing the rock to rooting?
Yes I saw that today and rock had a bet with somebody golden tape golden tape. So the
rock's got to wear his jersey now. No no golden guy wore the rockster test to wear at number 94.
So going into this week Georgia Alabama Notre Dame Clemson Oklahoma TCU going to be
interested to see what comes Tuesday night. If it were me Alabama Clemson Oklahoma Miami will be
your top four. I don't know I think because TCU loses Miami wins Wisconsin wins that to me that's
going to bump TCU to at least nine if not 11 because with Auburn beating Georgia but I'm thinking
quality of win with Oklahoma might bump them up even a little bit ahead since Clemson was playing
the ghost of Florida State. Yeah but Clemson's got skins too and it's what have you done for me lately.
So I want to see what happens there on Tuesday night. Let's move to the NFL. Kids it's week 10.
10 already. Yes sir it is. Yeah it looks like I need to refresh my page because it didn't refresh
itself. All right so tonight New England Denver. New England giving seven. My personal opinion.
It's not enough. It's going to run all over them. Even even blimping New England's going to be
better than than a blimping Denver. Tomorrow night I want to apologize to America for the Monday night
football matchup. My beloved dolphins at Carolina. Carol and Carolina's giving 10. Well you've seen
the stat cutler only plays well on the road and Monday night. But my name is getting 10. That's the
only thing I understand. Earlier today Seattle beats Arizona 22 to 16 New Orleans all over Buffalo.
Good God 47 to 10 Detroit winning late over Cleveland and Detroit was getting was giving 10 and
still covered. Green Bay beats Chicago and Green Bay was actually giving four and a half in that.
Yeah Tennessee great game of out there and in Memphis today as they beat Cincinnati.
Mario and Demarco Murray gets the winning score there. Don's Pittsburgh Steelers. What the crap dude.
How do you squeak one out against the cold. I know. But still that's the thing about my Steelers.
One week they're they're tears the next week they're by the way. Yeah did not cover because you
were given them 10 points. Minnesota and a big win over the Washington football club Tampa Bay beating
the Jets by five Jacksonville another great game that Jacksonville Chargers game was a great game.
Jacksonville wins that by 30. How about the ultimate revenge for that one the winning kicker for Jacksonville
is the guy that cut by the charger. And they said that about 150 times. LA beats up on Houston 33 to
seven Atlanta all over the Cowboys 27 to seven. And San Francisco beats the Giants by 10.
The tank is on. So let's look at next week because next week we're going to be handling survivor
series. So we will not be handling anything non-resting related next week. We're going to talk
about that here in a little while. So Thursday night. Don you're back on Tennessee at Pittsburgh
Thursday night. Yep. You're given seven. Okay. You're going to win by more than that.
Well here's the thing. You know, giving seven. I got a day one right now. Okay. Yahu says odds
Pittsburgh minus seven. Here's the thing. The you're going from ESPN. Yeah. Okay. The Barnburner coming
up. Okay. December 10th. I'm going because it's the Baltimore right. Okay. Give me a hind spiel for
that. The week after that. And this is the thing. They have that that's a Sunday night game. Okay.
Don't pick up the pace. The week after that is New England after that for the afternoon game.
That might be because yeah, they're both the only have two losses. And their last four games,
Steelers have only given up less than 15 points a game. I know. And so that that you know after Baltimore,
they got the they got the Thursday night. Then they got the Thursday Monday. Then they got the
Sunday night. Then they got New England after that. So I mean, it's going to be that New England
Pittsburgh game will probably decide the number one seed possibly possible. Also the next Sunday,
Detroit at Chicago. Jacksonville will be at Cleveland. Well, that'll be fun. What's that like Jacksonville
by about 90 Baltimore at the Frozen Tundra of Lambo Hill. Tampa Bay Miami and the makeup game from
week one because of Hurricane Irma. They're going to play that game next week. Hopefully, my dolphins
can get above 500 because Tampa Bay ain't going to get close at this point. LA Rams at Minnesota.
The Washington Football Club will be at the Saints. Chiefs at Giants boy. What's the line on
that? Chiefs by about 40. Arizona will be at Houston. Buffalo will be at the charges.
Cincinnati will be at Denver. That'll be a stinkfest. New England at Oakland. That's going to
depend on which Oakland team shows up. No, that's that's shootout material. You know, Philly will be
at Dallas as a Zekiel Elliott serves week two of the suspension. And then Atlanta at Seattle is
Monday night. Cowboys on Sunday night next week because then the week then they'll be playing on
Thanksgiving. I believe that's the chiefs, isn't it? Do you have any of the chefs on Thanksgiving?
All right. Let's talk about that six game. Do you think it's right? Here's my thing on the
Zekiel Elliott suspension. If they would just come out and say, they're playing the charge
or something, it's giving. Okay, cool. If they would just come out and say this is based on a
series of events and not just one event, then everybody's on the same page. But it's because
they're they're citing the domestic violence incident, which is the investigation of that's
been real wishy washing. That's been the problem. So because of that, he can appeal after the four
games. My problems going to be if they overturn it and then updated again, it's like, dude, serve
the six games because the two, you know, one of the last two games is going to be the second
game against Philly. That's week 17. Philly is the team you're chasing right now.
Best record in a league right now. Be a team player, not an individual, but it's not just him.
It's the NFL PA. It's Jerry. By the way, Jerry, good luck with that lawsuit. He's a lawsuit. He
wants to sue the league to try to block Adele's contract extension because apparently Jerry
already has his hand picked guy that he wants to be commissioner. Who's that? They're not saying who
it is, but the the salary commission or whatever they're calling them has told him to go pound
sand. So now he's threatening to sue them. Yeah, because he said let me say some. Well, but let me
say some, Jerry. Jerry. My boy. JJ road dog. Be careful with who you hire. Because I don't
know if you know the lawyer he's hired. This is the same guy defending Weinstein.
Careful son. I mean, you're a great businessman. You made the Cowboys into one of the world's biggest
franchises. But be careful. Your attorney's not going to have time for you. Yeah. So I got that
going for you. Well, the one of the attorneys that he has hired in the past has already come out
and said, I think this was misrepresented. I'm not involved. So moving on, I want to say next week,
survivor series. We're going to be on an hour earlier because it is a major, which means this
means it's going to be four hours long, but I'm on vacation next week. So I can stay up late and
it's okay. So we'll be on an hour earlier at six Eastern three Pacific. We'll be doing our picks
and speaking of wrestling. Major announcement coming up a little bit later. So stick around for
that. Let's talk some music talk, shall we? Interesting week for the Peepuff Diddy daddy.
What now? He goes on Instagram on Monday night and says he's been praying about it.
And he will now only be known as and he will only be he will only respond to love or brother love.
No. He's giving himself yet another nickname. Is that what you're saying?
Bruce Pritchard has a dairy farm. I love you. First of all, yeah. Why would you even go there?
I blame Kofi. Well, then three days later, he says, you know what? I'm not doing the brother love
thing. I would simply be ditty or p ditty. So he is now brother Peepuff Diddy daddy love.
At least it's something you can say versus something you have to draw. I'm just
How dare you? Your mama name you Sean Combs. I'ma call you Sean Combs.
Just be Sean Combs. You're a bajillionaire. God asks you for loans. It's okay. Well, that's why. It's
like, you know what? I don't need money for anything. I don't know what I'm doing. You don't change me.
The man has a full master bedroom suite in his office downtown New York. You're doing okay.
You do very well. It's easy to get bored when you're rich, I guess.
Meek Mill will be serving two to four years for a probation violation for the kids with the
clothes in the hair. That going for you. Who's that? He's a rapper for the kids with the clothes in the
hair. Okay. I don't think his mama name is that. But, you know, I think he's neither Meek nor
Millie just saying vanilla maybe. I don't know. Billy Millie. That'd be Millie Millie Millie.
That's me.
Captain vocabulary sitting across the desk for me. I can pull out the tape again. So Fox, the Fox
network. We've already read the tape down where we can't. And there's no VCR in the studio. So
we can't. No, it wouldn't plug into that TV anyway. So Fox is working on a new singing competition
called the four. It's based on a pirate as of out of Israel. The number four. So it's the
four FOUR. No, I'm trying to figure out pirate out of Israel. No pilot pilot. But I say pirate.
I heard pirate as well. Hey, he's been around me too long. That's true. Thank you, Jack.
Thank you. So it's it's focused on hip-hop artists. I've been coming hip-hop artists. And the way
it works is there's four artists on the show every week. And then they bring in new people
to try to not one of them off so they can become one of the four.
You with me so far. So it's like Iron Chef for rap. Kind of sort of remind me not that there's going
and there's also keeping in the theme. There will be four judges. Right now it's one that you're
going to have the categories are a producer, an artist, a record exec, and a kind of a
brain is on. It's man, I guess. Which one's C. Low? None of them actually. You have brother
P. Puff, did he daddy love? He's going to be one. Comes.
A republic records president Charlie Walk will be your exec. Your feature artist, a man who I
really don't feel gives him in the self enough recognition. Just a baby on his records. DJ
Khaled. Who? DJ Khaled. If you've ever heard anything he's ever done, he says his own name about
450 times in one song. Okay. Another one. And you're down. There's rumors on who the artist is
going to be right now. The three people currently being listed are the Fergie, the Megan trainer.
How you doing? And a babe Reha Rexha. Kids at the close in the hair. I am. But it debuts in January
on the Fox Network. Remind me not to watch it. Speaking of Fox and things that Fox used to own,
ABC has said their American idol will debut in March. They are already doing auditions. And there
was an NFL player that was actually had made it to Hollywood week. They were showing a saw a commercial
for NFL countdown. I don't remember who it was. Hey, I had the point. I had the 45 from the Dallas
cowboy cheerleaders of We Love the Cowboys. Ladies. How you doing? I mean, you know, so NFL can be
represented well. So speaking of which, I went to the one to the stars game on Friday night. Do we
have any show headlines to do? Was that player Marvin Jones? Marvin Jones? I don't know. Actually,
we'll talk about that in each I'll talk. I didn't have audio in the commercial. So I couldn't tell you
who it was. And Jay Z is going to receive the salute to industry icons award at the Grammys this
year. And the Grammys taking place early at the Grammys are like mid February this year and not
late February. So I'm not sure what's going on there. That's like competing with the Oscars.
Oscars, I think of the last Saturday or last Sunday. I know, but usually it's after the
and that means we're approaching the when you're you all calling me in and look what you got stuck
with. Hey, it's all right. Music new releases this week. The Catherine McFee. How you doing?
Has a brand new album called I Fall in Love Too Easily. She was just here in town last weekend
for the Dallas Summer Musicals Gala. How you doing? She didn't lift the restraining order so I couldn't
be there. You had other important things to do like a wedding. Yeah, Mavis Staples releases if
all I was was black. It was the name of her new album. Interesting statement she makes there.
Big fan of the Mavis Staples. Morrissey. You know, if you've ever been a good mood, you want to
just kill it. That's the guy. Everything is terrible except my head. The anthem of my high school.
That is dead on. My Morrissey is rock solid. Sharon Jones and the Dap King released their
posthumous album Soul of a Woman. Seah with an album that if I told you Seah was doing an album
called Every Day is Christmas. I'll probably see you later. I don't know.
That hurt. This song is brought to you by the awkwardness of Don Ford.
You can't blame me for this one. That doesn't even deserve a rim shot. It's so bad.
My brain hurts right now. That's kind of like if I had a son I'd call him first name by
middle name A by a Ford. We're something we're getting worse. Okay, I need to make a new rule on
the show. I need. I need to know. I need a new new rule on the show. Alex, you are not
allowed to bring him Frappuccino anymore ever in the history of ever because this is what
happens. You can't blame me for this. This is what happens. This is too far removed. This is not my fault.
Last or last show I will fully take credit. This one. This is all him.
Don't look me in with this. And there's no pop-up daddy involved in this. Yeah. This is all
Frappuccino. No. She has made some pop-up tonight too. But before I came here I'll have you
some next week. Is that the last wheel going? Are we are we on? So are we still talking music?
Do we need to deviate to another part of music? Also being released this Friday in music
things so you buy music and CDs and downloads and I can see the life force ebbing out of
Rob as we sit here. And we're halfway done. Okay. Okay.
T-Pain with a brand new album this week which actually the title of which is apparently my new
address, Oblivion. But nothing? You'll laugh or see you later and I can't. Okay.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill with a brand new album this week called The Rest of Our Life
and The Tove Low with something called Blue Lips but I held one off because we have a brand
new album this week. From a band who has somebody that I would like to say is a friend of the show?
Little bit. Little friend of the show bit. Donna wants you to go back about what's this?
November and do a little math about eight months. Okay. Bear naked ladies with a brand new album
this week and Rob is a friend of the show. Good man. I love the name of this new album.
It's called Fake Nudes. Oh, I like that. I love them so much and I hope I hope we can get
it back on next year. He was such an amazing guest. So gracious. Hey, I'm looking forward to the
pinball again this year because hopefully hopefully there'll be space for me to come and help.
That's a that's a long yeah that was a long day though because we got there first thing in the
morning played pinball the day did the show. Packed up the gear played pinball for like another
I'm sorry if we just hit first world problems we did first world problems but it was so much fun
but if you have me there helping that's somebody extra to help carry it all we'll have to see we can do
I make no guarantees. I know there's no guarantees. I'm just putting my vote for myself in.
So let's get on to some NBA standings because there's nothing in the league worth talking about
outside of more ball family failure on music. Can I take a quick vote of Yeh or Nay?
Not a discussion just a Yeh or Nay. Please Christmas music before thank you. No, no, no, no, like Friday
early. Thank you. I actually walked out of a business because they were playing Christmas music. Yeah,
but I don't want to say the name of that business but you shouldn't have walked out of that
business because the mick rib is back and you get one and you get another one for like a dollar.
Okay. They actually have to give me all now. Okay, but now we're going on to NBA standings. No,
I there's a station I love yes, do you perhaps K love them? Yeah, see that's on you.
You've started this whole I love that thing but now because it's the music I love the 80s,
I turn on the thing and it's Christmas today. It's like, but don't you wrong faith was like
Like, serious XM started November 1st, six stations.
But that you can choose to turn on or off of those stations.
This is a station like I get ready in the morning
to the one he's talking about.
And by see you next year, I put it all over Facebook.
I won't turn back to it till January.
Do you like Rebecca's college of Hollywood knowledge?
It's at 725 every morning.
I love that.
But now it's like, and I love that station.
Jody Dean, I'm known for a long time, great.
But this Christmas music right now, too early.
I feel like right in the middle of the show,
somebody changed stations.
We're intercepting another show from another place.
I don't know what deal is going on right now.
Yes, no, but now we're going to go on the next one.
A separate dawn has just walked in.
Now, if you follow me on social media,
I did post a video last week from the new Forking
and Country Christmas album, because they're
a version of the little drummer boy,
absolutely melted my brain.
But that's it.
But now I will say this, come Black Friday,
from Black Friday until Christmas day,
I am Christmas music intensive.
Outside of my podcast that I listen to,
if I'm listening to music, it's all holiday music all the time.
Because it's the only time you're
I can listen to it, so I'm going to get it out there.
I'll put my serious XM on Holly, and here we go.
Let's go.
And go for it.
For me, it's like the week before Christmas.
And at businesses is fine.
But I can't listen to it constantly 24, 7.
I just, I can't do it.
Not 365, but from what this year will be November 24th
until Christmas day, absolutely.
You have fun right now.
Totally.
You have fun with that.
Because it's the only time you're I can listen to it.
And I support you doing it.
I say go for it.
I've been living with two weeks of it with this.
Well speaking of that, this Christmas.
And you know what?
You'll appreciate it as well.
I blame you.
Welcome to the 2000 Teen Bad Punch.
But it just doesn't wrinkle jingle my bell.
That's it.
OK, thank you.
But faith this year for the first time
is going to see snow.
That should come to take her to Montana.
Yeah, and guess what?
She's going to watch for the first time ever.
What's on Christmas, to even Christmas day?
Oh, Christmas story.
Yep.
And you know, Fox is doing the musical live the Sunday
before.
Also, I have to ask you, because I've never
asked this question about your lovely wife.
A fantastic faith for her.
She's an amazing woman.
And we're all big fans.
Is she a vegetarian?
No.
OK, so you're going to be able to take her up there
and then get her a real big sky T-bone steak
for her to try.
Good, good, good.
Because I've never asked that question.
One way going out for in December for the Baltimore
game in Pittsburgh.
Oh, yeah, it's on.
It's on.
I need it.
I need it.
But you know, she can't have the garlic knots,
because you don't get them there.
Well, I'll find out.
Maybe they got them, because I made a complaint last year.
I need to get her some of those camping travel hand
warmers before their trip from this one, a good store.
Tell you this garlic knots are made for me.
I told her I got her a swimsuit to wear up there.
There is no one in the history of this show in 421 episodes
that can lock my brain up quicker than the man that
sits directly across from me at the desk right now.
So running junk we have with each other.
Play, play, play.
NBA standings.
No, you got to have faith, so I do.
All right, so NBA standings.
Is that where we are?
NBA is where you're ready to start.
I threw the wheel up on that one.
Did I miss something?
Hold on, I'm going to do about standings.
Oh, OK, I just, I had a segment that I
thought we had here, but it's later.
All right, so NBA standings, Eastern Conference,
the Brooklyn Nets.
You are three games below 500, and you
are six and a half back in the division.
They're a back, a game and a half back on Philadelphia.
So apparently the tank is not on.
I was listening to, I missed, I missed church last week,
but our church puts their sermons on podcast.
And I was listening to last week's sermon today.
And our home church is in Philly.
And apparently there was a meme that was somebody's bedroom
that was all decked out in 76ers gear.
And it says, went to bed last night,
woke up this morning with a torn ACL.
But you know, but there's the only five games back.
They're a game behind Toronto.
Toronto's tied with the Nix.
The Nix are four back on.
By the way, did you mention Boston's on a 12 game win streak?
The Celtics.
Kyrie Irving.
In the Central Division, the Bulls are two and nine.
They've lost four in a row.
There are three games behind Cleveland.
Cleveland's tied with Indiana.
They're both a half game back on Milawakay.
Detroit's three and a half up in that division.
And the pistons, they were allowed to come back.
It's November.
Ballad.
They're 10 and three, but you know,
in a month, they'll be 13 and 20.
In the Southeast Division, with the Eastern Conference,
does that like South Southeast?
The South West.
Watch West.
The Hawks are two and 11.
But there are only six teams back in the division.
That's early.
There are three and a half back on Charlotte.
Charlotte is a half game back on my beloved heat
who lost today.
The heat are a game and a half back on the Blizzard's.
And they're a half game back on Orlando.
Again, it's way early in the season.
In the Western Conference in the Pacific Division,
Sacramento, they're three and nine,
and they're six and a half back.
They're a game back in Phoenix.
Phoenix is a half back on the Lakers.
I don't even want to call, they're like,
they're not law.
They're Lowell.
Lowell is a half game back on Lack.
And Lack is four and a half back on Golden State.
In the Southwest Division,
your Dallas Mavericks, two and 11 right now.
This team is bad.
But Cuban's gonna run for president.
So it's all okay.
He's busy with...
By the way, the Mavericks are one and six at home.
Let that sink in.
Half of your wins are in the hole.
There are five games back on New Orleans.
New Orleans is a half game back on Memphis.
Memphis is a half game back on San Antonio,
but Houston's two up in the division.
And in the Northwest Division,
Oklahoma City at five and seven is two and a half back.
By the way, Houston's won five in a row.
Okay, see, is a half game back on Utah.
Utah's a half game back on Portland.
Portland's a game back on Minnesota.
And the Timberwolves are half game back on Denver.
Might have been too early for us to start an NBA stuff.
Maybe not just saying.
All right, let's combine our loves for pop culture sports
and entertainment talk, a little pro wrestling.
The coach has left the SPN.
Yes, he has, but I don't know if this was a preemptive strike
because I am hearing rumors that ESPN
is going to be doing another round of layoffs.
And they say it's in the hundreds.
Might be just over a hundred,
but still three digits is three digits.
Yeah, are they hurting that bad?
It's the way it's moving.
It's the internet.
The internet's Fox was a bigger factor than they thought they'd be.
I'm just saying.
I met him that one night after a show
and he talked to me for like 15 minutes.
Before he came to heel, he was really, really nice.
I don't want to make any suggestions,
but it's just me.
I don't, I don't want to say anything.
Keep max color meant because I like max color meant.
Roman Reigns is clear to return for a survivor series.
Now, let me say that as we get into raw talk,
I made a prediction before anybody set a word.
I made a prediction as I watched raw
and it has come to fruition.
That's all I'm saying, as we get into raw talk.
I'd like to start with the Miz,
a baseball reference in the UK.
I mean, at least when impact is over there,
sting brought out a cricket bat, you know.
Which I thought was one of the greatest things I've ever seen.
Hockey, because you've got it in both countries.
I'm sure they have baseball too, but.
How many of them do you care?
Nine just in one thing or soccer ball.
But is that not the heel pull of like,
oh, we've already made things better.
Your cricket is not baseball.
God.
That's a point.
And I'm officially saying the Bayley heel turn
is officially coming.
Oh, yeah.
It's going to be Bayley, not Sasha.
It's coming.
Bayley's officially not on the team yet, but I'm just saying she's going
to be the one that turns heel and you know what?
I got a prediction and if I get this, I want a point.
I'll make that decision.
I'm saying I'm asking is I may take you to that point away from you for
see a later.
You don't.
But I love the I'm saying I'm asking.
That's kind of all right.
You know who's returns supposed to be coming tomorrow night.
Rumored if that happens that person will be the fifth member.
And then guess who's going to be mad that she's not like she's from London.
Yeah.
OK.
And guess who's going to be mad that she's not on the team.
Because you saw that look where she, you know, only Sasha got on the team.
Not her.
Did you hear the other interesting bit about that person the other day?
What's that?
I don't want to say her name, but it rhymes with flage.
Yeah.
She put up an Instagram of she was at a bar.
And there were people behind her that were mugging down like mugging down.
What do you mean mugging down?
They were doing laundry.
Yeah.
There was a lot of tassel hockey going on.
OK, and she said the words.
This is why I'm single.
Is that really news though?
I hadn't heard that until today.
Yeah, do you think that's probably the best thing?
Did they didn't they get married?
No, they were going to it.
OK, I thought they did some kind of a weirdo-looping thing.
No, no, no, no, I wish people the best, especially relationships.
But I don't see that if they got married, that'd be in a 50-year marriage.
And I want to talk about something that was going to be POI tonight,
but I wanted to save it for wrestling talk.
WWE.
Listening.
Because we know somebody listens to this show.
We know they do.
And we appreciate what you do if you do it well.
When I go to your app, and I turn off the little option that says, send me results notifications.
Oh, I know this.
That means don't send me results notifications.
So when I'm at work on Monday, and I know that RAW is in the UK, don't send me a notification
that says title change at RAW spoilers.
Because God forbid, it's one of the few weeks that I'll actually get to watch RAW the
night it airs, and you only had one title match on the card, come on.
Or if it takes a while, put a notice with how long it takes to take effect for that option.
But I hit that notification thing that better part of a year ago.
And then you did it again the next night for Smackdown.
Now granted, the only thing I'll give Smackdown is there were multiple title matches on that
card.
But still, and the worst thing about Smackdown, I had a buddy of mine that put up the
updated Survivor Series graphic at 2.30 in the afternoon on his Facebook page.
But even a click here, if you want to see it, it's just there it is in my feed.
There were a lot of cuss words, we've known each other a long time, and his excuse was
will Facebook was going to ruin it anyway, I'm like, let Facebook do it, don't do it
yourself.
Don't make me mad at you.
And now I want to read to you my last note from RAW.
This is word for word as it aired during the tag title match.
Again, before this was announced, I called this.
With Reigns returning next week, do we now have Shield New Day for Survivor Series?
Of course.
And it's happening.
Now people are saying it's been a leaked match, but they're touring with RAW right now.
So Bram has also now left Impact Wrestling, as has Jesse Gotters, and it is official James
Storm has done with the company.
So is he out of control?
Triple H.
Get him on.
Get him out.
Get him out.
One week on NXT, he showed up, got up on the turn, turned buckle, and then he signed
the deal with Impact.
And you don't even Bobby Ruiz like, dude, really?
H. Get him under contract.
I need beer money.
I need beer money bad.
So I mean, there's TNA, he's done, does he have a no compete or anything like that?
I don't know.
Think about Impact.
Do you really think they have no compete clots as enforceable ones?
Yeah.
Also, the referee Stiffler has gone with the company.
Wagner's kid has gone from the company.
All the refs left for Brown for Glory, they had to get local refs to do down for Glory.
And why are the refs leaving now?
Apparently, Scotty Demore is now booking.
Yeah.
Spuds gone.
Rockstar Spuds time with WWE from what I'm hearing.
Your boy.
I hate him.
Okay, jerk.
What you do to Chad with Horde Swaggle.
I'm allowed to do to you with Rockstar Spud.
Well, those of you that don't know, Don actually bought Chad for Christmas one year and autographed
WWE trading card of Horde Swaggle.
Then I got him Honey Boo Boo autographed the next year.
He actually did that.
Then I got him Will Ferrell the next year.
Okay, I'm starting to be scared of Chris.
Wasn't a Will Ferrell autographed.
You got him like a Will Ferrell box set of DVDs.
No, that was one year too.
But no, the last one was from Gary, the great Gary Murray's collection.
Oh, really?
Remember that?
I don't remember.
I don't remember.
Was that skating movie?
The Shades of Glory?
Lades of Glory.
I love that movie.
I remember it had that little thing and so Will Ferrell left.
Yeah.
I'm scared of Christmas now.
He'll probably know what he's getting.
I think we all know what he's getting.
Well, no, no.
For the gay gift.
Who me?
Yeah.
For the gag gift, yeah.
Are you going to make sure that there's no steel chairs in here that night?
Yes, exactly.
Because we're going to have to talk about that too because we're going to have to do our
year end show December 24 on 7 is the 17th because Christmas Eve is a Sunday, New Year's
Eve is a Sunday.
Okay.
So are you not going to be in Montana?
We're only like three weeks away from our year end wrap.
And I'm in Montana.
So, so be ready for that.
But shall we back the 17th?
Why don't you?
Oh, let me check.
So, quick aside.
Does that mean that Don's reckoning should come sooner?
Yeah, I should be back the 17th.
Okay.
Yeah.
So let's let's talk about something a little bit more uplifting.
Make sure these guys are here.
Let's talk about the fact that war games this Saturday, NXT Dustin Rhodes will be ringside
because it was his dad's brainchild.
Now, was you know that little comment that Cody made?
Which one?
Towards Dalton on that promo last week.
Oh, he said he'd get him.
He'd make some calls.
He'd get in the belt man.
Oh, dude, he's so good right now.
He's just great.
Well, I'm glad you mentioned ROH, Don.
My hero next weekend is survival of the fittest weekend.
Next Sunday night in Oklahoma City because survival of the fittest is the three day event.
Madison Rain will be working for the company next Sunday night.
Yes, in Oklahoma City.
The night before that is coming Saturday, November 18th.
All of the fittest will be here in Dallas, Texas at Gilles.
Let me give you the car.
I have the car in front of me.
Bring it.
Bring it because there's a name I've been waiting for.
Wait, Rob before you get into that.
You asked me a question weeks ago that you said you don't get a certain person.
When we get to that, I want to throw it to Jen.
Okay, fair enough.
Sign to compete but we don't know what in what capacity.
Cody?
Okay.
Christopher Daniels.
Okay.
Also who end more is, but apparently they've been signed to compete that night.
Survival of the fittest first round matches, Inc.
Sanity Vinnie Marsalia from the kingdom will be wrestling the octopus Jonathan Gresham.
When did he become the octopus?
I don't know.
Also T.K. O'Ryan, isn't he the other guy in the kingdom?
He'll be taking on Flip Gordon.
Don't get his bit.
So Matt Taven of the kingdom will be taking on another person that I don't like because
he disrespected my boy here, Cheeseburger.
He gave my boy to Heisman.
I can't like to do.
Yeah.
My family takes care of family.
Cheeseburger, you can go pound San as far as I'm concerned.
He has a cool shirt.
That's all I'll give him.
Also your boy will be in action done.
Salt and Castle and Jay Lethal versus the Young Bucks.
Great coat.
I don't know if you watch ROH yesterday, but that promo between Lethal and Marty Skrull was
awesome.
Do you like the Skrull?
I like the Skrull.
For the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Championship, Motor City Machine Guns versus Team CLL, Svinge
and Ray Cometa.
And for the ROH World Television Championship, they're from Alabama, that group.
Kenny King versus Frankie Kazarian, this Saturday night at Gilles, I don't like the heavy
metal rebel thing.
Isn't that kind of redundant?
Well, that's just, but he's happy.
But isn't heavy metal rebel redundant?
But this will be this Saturday night at Gilles, card starts at 7 o'clock.
If you want to get there at 5.30, there's going to be an autograph signing session, a $20
for one personal item, or an 8x10 supplied by ROH and a post photo for a tag team wrestlers
at 30.
But that will be Cody, the Machine Guns, Svinge, Ray Cometa, Dalton Castle, Jonathan
Gresham, Karen Q, and bully Ray will be there as well.
He's going to be doing the intermission work.
Now, already a great lineup.
Even better.
Your boys are going to be there.
And we got to thank Gary Jester and Mark Kruskel.
Thank you guys for getting us in.
We're going to have press access.
We're going to have a full report next Sunday on the show.
I don't know how much we're going to be able to talk about if there's TV taping involved
because I don't want to give spoilers, but I'm telling you, I could not be more excited
right now.
And some of us have also bought that you guys are going to be there as well because
there's money going in because we do want to support our sport.
And this is going to be the first wrestling freeing for the great Fantastic Faith forward.
This is our first live event.
That's going to be awesome.
I cannot wait.
It's my first live wrestling event too.
It's going to be awesome.
I can't wait for this.
This is going to be so much fun.
Oh, wow.
It's a totally different experience that I got into wrestling because of this podcast.
So when I'm making my picks, it's totally new to me to even be doing that.
So I have some very good coaches, all three of which are in this room right now.
And well, two of us and dumb.
Yeah, looking at his standings, I don't know that I would say that.
Yeah, excuse me.
It's going to be a great time.
We're going to be there.
We're going to be covering it in one form or another.
I'm sure I'll be Instagramming like a madman.
So I can't, this is going to be so much fun.
I can't wait.
I'm excited.
And if I can get another Dalton fam like I got last time because the boys actually gave
me a Dalton fam.
They did.
They actually did.
So did you say scroll is on the card or?
He is not on the card.
It currently doesn't mean he's not going to be.
James Ellsworth may be done with WWE.
What?
That is the rumor.
And he's been doing nothing but get punked at how shows for like the last stunner party.
Owen and Harper did a house show dropping the entire bludgeon brother's gimmick and
only coming out to the old music.
So hopefully maybe we're going to put a bullet in this thing because it just doesn't work.
1993 it works not now.
I don't even think it worked in 93.
That's an 80s gimmick.
That's true.
All right.
Smackdown.
The only Smackdown note I have is, when did Ellsworth become a showmanist?
That was weird for me.
It felt like money in the bank if they were really going to go for it.
That would have been when.
We'll say this, hell of a superkick by Carmella.
Absolutely.
That was an impressive superkick, even though you missed it by a foot.
It was still technically it looked good.
Better safe than sorry.
It was Ellsworth.
It went in hard.
There's not much going on.
It got into the full sweet chin music with the duck.
So.
All right.
So we're going to have a full report for you next Sunday.
Remember we're going to be on an hour earlier next Sunday for Survivor Series.
For those of you that are wondering.
Since we're going to be at ROH, we're not going to be able to watch Wargames as it airs.
But we're going to get together before the show so we can still watch Wargames because
I want to watch this pay review.
So I won't have much.
I won't be watching much football next Sunday because we're going to have to get together.
I'm going to have to come home right at your church so we can fire up Wargames and get
that thing ready to go.
So we'll be on it six Eastern three Pacific next week as we get ready for the final major
of the year.
Survivor Series.
And who I get to go see live wrestling.
It's going to be awesome.
I can't wait.
It's so much fun.
And that will mean that I've seen all of the major promotions because I saw WCW back
in the day.
I've been to I went to impacts first.
How show here at House of Blues where I got to see black machismo and all of its greatness.
And I got to see how big her Nanda's really is because LAX was on that card.
That's a tank.
He's a monster.
And oh, you haven't heard the story of my visit with impact.
I've heard bits and pieces, but not the full story.
You haven't heard the video story.
I have not.
Okay, we'll talk about it off air.
Yes, sir.
One of my more crowning achievement moments that yeah, that never, according to, according
to history, never happened if you weren't there, but that's not what I'm finishing.
All right.
So let's talk about, let's get into memoriam because we had a couple of big ones this
week.
Oh, yeah.
Um, first and foremost, one that took everybody completely off guard, uh, Roy Halliday.
A guy that's, uh, I can't pull, it's not my computer's not working.
It's 20th perfect game in major league baseball history.
A guy that's what two years away from Hall of Fame eligibility pitched for Toronto and
the Phillies eight time all star, two time Saiyung Warder winner, two time major league
baseball wins leader, uh, his perfect game was on May 29, 2010, uh, also pitched a postseason
no hitter that same year from Denver, Colorado, uh, was flying a small plane over the Gulf
of Mexico off the coast of Florida on Tuesday and crashed and passed away.
I mean, this guy was an absolute beast, amazing pitcher, the doc, the doc holiday, so they
called him.
Uh, let me see if I can get you some more stats.
I mean, this, I can't stand the Phillies, but I remember watching his post game or his
postseason, uh, perfect game and it was, well, I'm a, I'm a naily against the Phillies
because I'm a Braves and Marlins fan, right, but it just the, the work that he did during
that game was just Maddox level professional.
Yeah, he, he becomes eligible for the Hall of Fame year after next, because his last
appearance was September 23rd, 2013, so you wait five years.
He's eligible.
Um, oh, look who's doing the national anthem at the game tonight, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith
and that kid from the voice, they're touring together.
They're touring together, by the way, doing a holiday, the delivery was Amy Grant.
I can't remember the, it's Jordan, something kids, the kids mad talented, mad talented.
He was on, no, he was on America, it's got talent.
Jordan spark.
No, she was on American Idol, that's a she.
But yeah, it's kind of cool, they're going to be here second week in December.
But Roy Halliday, that one was one of those, I mean, the kid was 40.
Yeah, I was going to say he's close to our edge.
And one that's more of, um, people that of, what we call men of a certain age or ladies
of a certain age, um, John Hillerman.
And it's funny because we were just talking about this a couple of weeks ago on the show
that, uh, CBS is trying to reboot Magnum PI, um, John Hillerman was Higgins on Magnum
PI.
Uh, he's from Denison, yeah.
Which you look at a guy like John Hillerman, you're like, first of all, he's an American.
Yeah, everybody thought he was British, but no, he was from Texas.
Born in Denison, Texas, which is just a little bit north of us.
He was 84.
He actually went to, uh, University of Texas at Austin.
Oh, well.
He was an actor from 1957 to 1999.
John Benedict Hillerman, like that screams Britain.
You know, five golden globes winning in 1981, four Emmy nominations winning in 1987.
He actually retired from acting.
Uh, his father was a gas station owner and his mother, uh, was a, was a, was a housewife.
He was a middle child to sisters.
His father was the grandson of immigrants from Germany and France.
So there you go, uh, at a very young age, he developed an interested opera, and he would
come to Dallas for metropolitan opera productions and went to St Xavier's Academy and then went
to University of Texas majoring in journalism, spent four years in the Air Force, did maintenance
on B-36s and he became a sergeant, uh, said he became
an actor interested in acting after working with a theatrical group in Fort Worth while
he was in the service.
He was actually part of the Betty White Show in 1977.
Uh-huh.
Dude's worked with everybody.
Was in, uh, his first film was, they call me Mr. Tibs.
Uh-huh.
He was a, he was an uncredited reporter.
He was in the last picture show, What's Up Doc, uh, the thief who came to dinner, high
planes drifter, paper moon blazing saddles.
Remember he was Howard Johnson, right, so great.
Uh, Chinatown, Day of the Locust, History of the World Part One during the French Revolution
section.
He was in a very British sequel, I forgot about that.
Um, television roles, Manics, Mod, Kojak, um, the Bob Crane Show, Ellery Queen, Hawaii
5.0, Serpico.
He was Conrad Stieglier in Wonder Woman versus Gargantua.
I have that on disc somewhere at home.
Uh, one day at a time, he did six episodes, The Betty White Show, Hawaii 5.0, Little House
on the Prairie, The Love Boat, because who wasn't soap, heart to heart, Lou Grant, uh,
of course Magnum P.I. that ran for eight seasons.
Remember Tales of the Gold Monkey?
Oh, wow.
He did two episodes of that, Simon and Simon, because they crossed over my, my mom actually
watched the filming of that crossover episode.
She just happened to be in Hawaii for business.
And she, there's pictures my mom has of Sarah watching it from her hotel room.
She could look down and see them filming it.
And I, that's how I find new shows after time was the crossovers, but they stopped doing.
I mean, they did a research, but 13 episodes of the Hogan family forgot.
He was in that.
Oh, yeah.
And his final TV role was in murder.
She wrote, so which I would have seen that episode, because I've seen them all as they
say on Hollywood Babylon, huge bucket of wind guy had a heck of a run and, but he will
be missed.
All right, let's get into some movie talk, shall we?
Or, and we're actually running almost on time, which is even weirder box office numbers
from our friends at boxofficemojo.com dropping out of the top 10 this week.
Let there be light drops from 10 to 11, by the way, did you see the post I had up the other
day?
It was the Bible for millennials, and it was Genesis, and God said let there be light, and
it was lit.
Yes, that's all that.
That's like, well played, sir, madam.
So let there be light drops from 10 to 11, making $1.2 million, $3.6 million, I'm sinking.
Indy fell?
Only the braid drops from 9 to 12 this week, another $950,000, $17 million on a $38 million
dollar budget.
I have for really good things about this.
Yeah, I saw it.
That one I would give, possibly a card, really, yeah, yeah, thank you for your service
drops from 8 to 13 this week, you can find my review of that on our website, which happens
to be www.theclubhousepodcast.com, which is our website, that was kind of meta, okay.
Three weeks, $9.1 million on a $20 million budget, I think that movie is going to make
a lot of its money back on DVD and Blu-ray.
Starting from 26 to 10 this week, Lady Bird, two weeks, $1.7 million, this is the latest
from, we talked about this on the last episode, this is the latest from Greta Gerwig, and
we all know how I feel about that.
Dropping from 6 to 9, movies that Don very much enjoyed, Ike's Tunes exclusive, $3.22,
called Happy Death Day, $1.3 million, $5 million, $55 million on a $5 million budget.
That's impressive.
Groundhog Day with knives.
That's efficient.
Groundhog Day with knives.
But still, that's a break even, because you have to add the rule of 50, because if you
go, they spend 50 million, you know, budgeting, marketing a film.
So it's not going to make money.
That's just domestic.
This is count international.
And that's, I mean, and they figure it's going to have a one or two week in run, and
this is how many?
Yeah, this is, you know, about five.
Blade Runner 2049, dropped from 7 to 8 this week, $1.4 million, $6 weeks, $88 million,
$150 million budget.
First of all, I'm one of the nine people that didn't enjoy the original, secondly, I'm
not going to commit three hours to a movie theater on a film I have a passing interest
in.
Geostorm.
I'm looking at you.
You, Alex.
I didn't see it again.
It drops from five to seven this week, $1.6 million.
How would you wait it?
I didn't.
Were you not here, too?
No, I know what you say.
But would you see this film again?
No.
I mean, I was there.
No.
Okay.
You're seeing Geostorm again, or giving birth to a porcupine on fire, which one do you
go with?
It's close.
There you go.
But Geostorm.
But I'm thinking Geostorm when it comes out, just on home, like just on your server.
If you want to, it's going to get riff tracked.
Make no mistake.
The porcupine on fire, its offspring will be popcorn.
That doesn't even make sense.
I know what he's trying for it.
It's still bad.
I mean, maybe if you had some marshmallows on the spikes, it could be good, but no.
That's a porcupine joke.
Yeah.
Okay.
Can I tell you, welcome to the 2017 Battle Show?
Sometimes I could be a stick-corp.
I'm going to hedgehog my bad all the time.
Oh, geez.
Now I know how chicken McGee feels.
But anyway, Geostorm, $31.6 million, $120 million, budget.
I'm certain no wonder is it, it might wind up with an ironic following.
Oh, my God.
Like Water World.
Dropping from 4 to 6 this week, because it can't seem to get out of the top 10 Tyler Perry's
Boo-2 and Medea Halloween, which apparently, when that first became a concept, it was
not until Chris Rock said it in that movie Top 5 that he did.
He said that he just jokingly made a reference to what's next on Medea Halloween, and like
the next day Tyler Perry was like, oh, that's happening.
Yeah.
So thank you, Chris Rock.
But that's made another $2 million, $4 million, $46 million, it's almost doubled its
budget.
Big saw drops from 3 to 5 this week, $3.4 million, $3 weeks, $34 million on a $10 million
budget.
Bad mom's Christmas drops, what, why are we releasing that, but I did like, I did like
jeez saw.
I'm a big saw fan, and I did like the thing, which movie was that, jeez saw.
Out.
Okay.
But that drops from the silver medal to fourth place, $11.5 million, $2 weeks, $39.9 million,
$28 million, budget.
So they're doing okay.
Under on the Orient Express, iTunes Exclusive 328, it's debused in the bronze medal position,
$28.2 million, Don.
And what is the budget on that though?
55.
Yeah.
Loved it.
Yeah.
Big fan.
Yeah.
You can listen to iTunes Exclusive 328, which will be available by the time you hear this.
We recorded it today.
Yeah.
Awesome, because I want to go with my mom.
And that's why that's why I didn't take you to my plus one, because I knew you were going
to take your mom.
Yeah.
And we have a written reviews at WWW, the clubhousepodcast.com.
I'll read those after I see them, maybe because I'm the spoiler.
Let me translate what Don just said.
It's www.theclubhousepodcast.com, which is our website.
Six years.
What?
Six years you've been on this show.
Thought maybe you'd get it right by now.
I'm just saying.
He's still trying to find a pun for that.
Just stop it.
Don't bling you.
Maybe you're in the silver medal position this week.
Daddy's home to $30 million, almost halfway to its budget.
That has one chainer.
I mean, it does have the one chainer.
And Thor Ragnarok's still number one, another $56.6 million, two weeks, $211.6 million, $180
million budget.
I am interested.
What's that doing worldwide?
I cannot tell you enough how much I loved this film.
Let's see.
Four-in.
It's done almost half a billion.
It's four-in.
It's printing money in countries that don't have their own money yet.
And we have our written reviews at www.theclubhousepodcast.com, which is our website.
But you know, the biggest total right now is in the UK, 27 million.
Internationally?
Yeah.
Okay.
But it's so much fun.
It is so much.
Phil sent me a picture today, and I don't want to say what the picture was, because it's
kind of a spoiler within the film.
God, so much fun.
All right.
Thor Ragnarok, yes, has topped half a billion worldwide.
So you heard the Justice League numbers?
Not yet.
Budget right now has hit 300 million.
Yeah.
You heard me right.
You said budget right now, right now, the budget on, after the reshoots and everything,
for Justice League hit 300 million dollars.
Okay.
I'm telling you, I'm worried about this film.
I am physically worried about, and no score on Rotten Tomatoes yet, although I'm hearing
early buzz that people are enjoying it.
I'm still going to go.
Don't get me wrong.
But I am cautiously optimistic, because no offense.
I love Rob DeDeath, but our thing on, why would I be offended by that Batman versus
Superman?
You made us, what, three in four last year in a minute by top 10 worst of the year, because
you're a communist.
I was one of the, like, huge majority who thought the movie was, you know, but that's
what I'm saying.
That's what I'm kind of worried about.
You know what I'm saying?
I enjoyed it.
Many apparently trying to buy pieces of 20th century Fox.
Please don't worry.
They could take the Fantastic Four and the X-Men don't ruin my Deadpool.
I don't think they will.
I think, I think Disney has enough sense in it that they'll, they'll do some kind of
like a Marvel night's line with it, and they'll probably, because remember back in the
day, you had Disney, you had Touchstone, you had Hollywood pictures.
So depending on the content of the film, it would depend on what studio went to.
And Touchstone still around.
Shout out to Disney.
Take the Fantastic Four.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Take everything away from Fox.
It has the word Marvel in it.
Take it all.
No, how about just take everything from Fox?
I mean, they already took Star Wars.
Hell.
Speaking of Star Wars, Ryan Johnson has, we'll be creating the next trilogy.
Got the director of Looper and his directing currently about to come out the last Jedi.
So my question, what would this be?
I know that they talked about nine, and then, you know, the filler next year, the
episode nine.
What would the console or movie in the episode, not yet?
Yeah.
What would the trilogy be about on the next one?
They're saying it's not about the Skywalker family, which makes no sense to me, because
that's the whole point of Star Wars.
I think that they're just saying that because they haven't revealed everything yet, because
I've said for years that it's good that Ray is, Ray is Luke's daughter, and it's episode
nine to just be called cousin versus cousin death match, because that's what it's going
to be.
Well, the early talk on the Ryan Johnson trilogy that I've heard is either going to be way
in the past or way in the future.
I have heard talk of the night to the old Republic, which I'm playing with.
I'll give that to you.
I'd be excited.
But to me, those aren't canon.
Those should just be anthologies.
Exactly.
Exactly.
As long as I don't get the young Boba Fett story, because I've seen it, it was called
episode two.
How about I just tap because Star Wars is going to continue.
And what could be the strangest story of the week, I know I said that earlier, but this
is even stranger.
This is something that I referenced in pre-show that obviously you guys hadn't heard.
We are not, our heads are not buried in the sand.
Let me preface this story with that.
We know everything that's been going on in Hollywood.
We know what's been going on, we've been following the stories.
But if you know anything about this show, you know that we do not, we don't get into
the politics, we don't get into things of that nature because we like this show to be
uplifting.
And it's a show that your grandma can listen to.
And an Alex's case does.
Um, so that being said, we do have to reference something because it really works itself
into something else.
We all know the Kevin Spacey story.
Kevin Spacey is in an upcoming film called All the Money in the World that has been pulled
from the AFI Fest and has been replaced with, uh, it was supposed to be the closing night
film.
It's been replaced with Molly's game.
The Jessica Chastain directed the first time that Aaron Sorkin's ever directed, that
will be closing the face.
Okay.
I saw posters for it up.
They've been pulled.
Whatever.
Here's the weird thing.
They're pulling Spacey out of the movie.
Yeah.
I heard about this.
Yeah.
And replacing him with Christopher Plummer.
This movie comes out in a month.
Oh, yeah.
And from what I heard, the rest of the cast was for this.
And I'm okay with it.
I'm just going to go, and I told you guys in pre-show and I we, I didn't tell you what
the story was.
Like they pull this off and it works, it will change the game in Hollywood.
Oh, yeah.
Of course.
Absolutely.
Because there's already talk that if this works are going to be do it with other films
he's had in production already.
Well, and not just him.
Yeah.
Going forward, people might need to behave and act, oh, sorry, I'm going to get off my
soapbox.
Again.
The people that are in this room don't need this lecture, um, but maybe it will encourage
people to start remembering to be respectful of one another.
So I'm going to be interested to see how this works out because I mean, granted with
modern technology, it will work.
But I'm just interested to see how this goes.
And I'm not sure that I would have gone with the actor they did, but I'm glad they found
someone.
Oh, okay.
Christopher Plummer.
Oh, I can.
Oh.
And the only has two upcoming projects on IMDB.
That's just an IMDB.
Yeah, I know.
But once called Gore, which is about Gore Vidal and the other one, oh, billionaire's
boys club.
Oh, come on.
Yeah.
Let's get into movie releases this week.
We just talked about Justice League releasing this weekend.
A movie Don's going to be screening on Tuesday night because we're going to be doing double
duty.
Yeah.
Called Wonder based on the New York Times best seller is the incredibly, incredibly inspiring
and heartworm story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth
grade attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.
Julia Roberts, Jacob Tremblay, Owen Wilson, Mandy Patanken, Duffy Diggs is in this.
Sonia Bragg is in this, Steve Bacchix in this.
So you got that going for you.
I'll be seeing another film that night.
I don't know when the release date is and I can't talk about it because I don't know yet.
Also an animated film called The Star, which has a huge cast in it.
It's a retelling of the first Christmas.
And again, it's November, it's, it's the animal's point of view.
Correct.
Stephen Yen, Christian Chenoweth voice in this, Zach Levi, Gina Rodriguez, Tyler Perry,
Christopher Plummer, Keegan Michael Key, Patricia Heaton, Chris Christopherson, Ving Rames,
Anthony Anderson, Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, Gabriel Glacias, Eddie Bryant from SNL, Tracy
Morgan, Delilah is in this Kelly Clarkson as well, Joe Olstein, yes, they should have
just waited a week.
But then again, then Thanksgiving weekend is usually huge blockbusters.
Well, that's going to be Disney.
So that may be why they're doing the Christmas one and since a week earlier than they normally
would.
Next week, since we're wrestling only next week, we're going to be seeing Coco, which is
going to be the week after.
So, you know, we got the, we'll be getting every day.
We look forward.
Yeah, look forward to our special edition for that.
Also a movie that's going to Netflix called Mudbound, two men return home from World
War II to work on a farm in rural Mississippi where they struggle to deal with racism and
adjusting to life after war, Carrie Mulligan, Garrett Headland, Jason Clark, Jason Jonathan
Banks, Jason Mitchell, Mary J. Blige, we're sorry about that.
Rob Morgan, Lucy Faust, very good things about this.
Also, well, probably not this other movie because I don't want to talk about it because it
deals with the other things.
But if you know something else that happened this week, somebody else has a movie that's
coming out this week that was also supposed to be part of AFFS and now it's been pulled
a certain comedian that's come under fire, especially when you look at the name of that
film, it's even more awkward.
DVD and Blu-Wright New Releases this week brings be bare a movie that, unless you know about
the better off you're going to be, it's a wonderful film with Kyle Mooney and Greg Keneer.
Go check that out.
Also, Atomic Blonde, I've been wanting to see this.
I'll check that out maybe next weekend.
Wind River, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch together in a murder mystery.
It's really good.
I loved it.
It's so good.
That will make my top 10 really, really good.
Amityville, the Awakening, straight to DVD, another film that Don reviewed recently.
iTunes Exclusive 312, The Not Job 2, Nuddy by Nature.
Again, is that a bad punch, huh?
Pearl Jam, let's play two.
This was a documentary they did about two concerts they did at Wrigley Field.
That was actually just in theaters recently because we were doing a screening at the
Magnolium.
They were showing it.
So also, who streets a documentary that Don checked out at the Dallas International Film Festival
this year about Black Lives Matter and everything that's surrounded that in the last few
years?
Two Criterion Collection Films this week, Less than I, I don't know why they did it that
way, but that's an end of it, and Desert Heart.
All right, Tech Corner stuff, real quick.
Call of Duty World War II has now made a half a billion worldwide.
It looks phenomenal.
It looks great.
And your cover athlete for EA's UFC 3 will be one Conor McGregor.
They are doing a Conor McGregor Championship Edition, too.
Did you see what happened with him at Bellator?
No.
He showed up as a fan to support one of his teammates at Bellator.
The teammate wins.
He jumps into the cage to celebrate and gets into it with the ref.
Lord.
On a promotion, he is not signed.
The guy is a marketing genius, let's just call it what it is.
I've heard that documentary is amazing.
Notorious.
Notorious?
Not even before anybody knew who he was.
He had such a fascinating story.
And he's like great Mike work.
He's the guy who faked it till he made it and then became the great.
Okay, I didn't see it.
How was that 30 for 30?
It's on my DVR.
I haven't watched it yet.
I've heard really, really good things.
I've heard a lot of people have spoken really highly of it.
We are talking about Nature Boy, correct?
Yes.
It is.
It's just Twitter painting.
Amazing.
Like, I had high hopes because I've always been a fan of them.
Especially as long as we've been waiting for this thing.
God, yeah.
It's been rescheduled like six times.
We'll put it this way.
As high as my hopes and expectations were, it blew them out of the wall.
So not oversold.
Not oversold.
Good, good, good.
I'll be interested to see how much of it I don't know.
Because I've really looked into Rick's life a lot in the last 30 years.
There is some details that people that work with him have even said I had no idea.
And I will say this, what I didn't expect, brutal honesty about not making him a hero
in ways.
Good.
Good, good, good.
All right.
Let's get to the list.
Tonight's list, because I'm the only one in the room that knows it, is going to be
interactive.
Look how?
You guys don't even know what the topic is, but you're going to be part of the list tonight.
Next week, of course, we'll be wrestling intensive, so there will not be a list.
We very rarely do a list on paper abuse on this.
We've done them before, but it's very, very few and far between.
So next week is Thanksgiving.
One of my favorite times of year, because the colors are changing, and it's fall, and
we're actually having a decent fall.
It's a little warm right now, but it could be a lot worse, so it could be last year.
So I thought we would take this time to talk about the things we're thankful for.
And I have listed 10 things myself.
Don't start writing right now, because you're not going to have time.
So what I'll do is I'll name one thing, and then you guys can elaborate on it if you
choose to, or use it as a springboard for something you want to add to it.
These are in no specific order, just 10 things that I wrote down.
It is Veterans Day weekend, so I wanted to start with our first responders and our service
men and women around the world.
I did not serve.
I have many, many, very, very close friends and family members who did.
My grandfather was in the First World War, I believe, he was one of the two world wars.
I've one of my best friends is a Marine.
I think I have friends in every, I have a cousin right now that's in the Coast Guard.
Here's an old saying, you can hate the war, but don't hate the warrior.
And I think that's very, very apropos right now, in a time where we're very divided as
a country.
We need to pull together and support the people that are out there protecting our freedoms.
You may disagree with the politics involved, but these people volunteer.
It's not like other countries where you have to do it by law.
These people sign up on their own accord, and there are some of the bravest people in
the world.
And you talk about our first responders, also in a very vulnerable time in this country's
recent history that are out there every day putting themselves on the line, and we can't
thank them enough, guys, anything you want to add to that.
Let's add that Chad did serve, so yes, he did, he was in the Navy, saw that photo, and
I'm Chad.
It's a very good photo.
I have a lot of friends that served, yes.
I have friends and family that have served, and I'm thankful because there's a lot of
things I've gotten to do because my freedoms and my rights are more important.
This is one of them, you know, sorry, but it's definitely like it's touched all of us in
every way possible.
There's so many people that I can't begin the name, but two that immediately come to mind
would be my brothers from next door, Matt and Andy Kaufman, who both served and are serving
in the Navy, I believe, and he's just about wrapping up if I remember correctly, but there
are two of the closest things I've had to brothers that weren't actually family.
Our class president actually spent the full years and retired a Marine.
One of my closest friends that grew up next door to me in middle school and high school,
he retired from the Army recently.
Bill from the Alabama.
Bill D.
Dickatana.
Dickatana.
He recognized me.
He's also a priest.
He served.
Don, anything you want to add?
Well, you know, if you go to my, you know, the, I have family lineage in the military.
My dad, he served my uncle, his brother passed away in Vietnam.
As you talked about in your review, like I said, your review of Last Life Flying.
Yeah.
So that's where I got my name, you know, so my dad was about to be shipped off to Vietnam,
but then his brother died so the next that real fast, you know, next up, I'm thankful
for what I call a charmed existence.
I have said for years that I have lived a very forced gump like existence in the fact that
I've gotten to be a witness to or a party to or involved in a lot of things in this life
that I have no business being a part of.
You know, being lucky enough to be in a super bowl half time show, at one point in my
life, to, to getting to be seen in some circles as a critic, to being able to see productions
that I wouldn't have been able to see otherwise, to have, you know, been able to travel to another
country, which a lot of people that have never done and I've only done it twice.
But I've just thankful for the cool stuff that I've gotten to do and I don't, I don't
think we take enough time to, to think about that because everybody's, it's so cool to
complain, but I don't think we take enough time to go, you know what, I've got to do some
really cool stuff in this life and I have no reason to be able to do any of it.
But I got to, well, it's, I definitely piggyback on the having family to help me see foreign
countries, learn other cultures, be able to, you know, not to kiss up too much, but
even just getting to do this and you're honored to have you, sir.
The, and the event that we got to do last week, which was I spent the first five minutes
thinking, Rob, what have you gotten me into and then had the time of my life.
Getting to see the, getting to see the room and all of its splendor, and we'll be talking
about that in a couple of weeks after the disaster, it comes out, God, everywhere, you know,
anything else you guys want to add to that?
I mean, well, back in the time, let's go.
I mean, like this, the being able to see all those productions at Dallas summer, you know,
I've been to two super bulls.
I've been to England and Ireland.
I've been, you seem buffed at what, 32 times now?
33.
Oh, but who's counting?
Yeah, it's counting.
But that's a different story now, as it's especially last year and a half, but the
you know, and that stuff, like you're saying, one, rest so many press conference.
We're going to get to that here.
Yeah, that's also on the list.
Next up, I'm thankful that I have, I'm sorry, go ahead, Jen.
I was going to say it's, your statement kind of is that saying of when one door closes,
another one opens, or one window closes, another opens, I've had several experiences in my life
where one chapter ends, and sometimes it's quiet, and sometimes it's slam so hard, you're amazed,
there's glass still there.
But then something new comes along, and this show has been my new thing this year.
And I'm thankful I have it, because it's been, it's been a roller coaster for a year,
and one of my bright spots is knowing on Sundays, I get to be around people that like me.
It's fair.
On a very odd note, I just saw a commercial on TV.
Is it weird that the older David Beckham is getting the more he's looking like Triple H?
Just let that one sink in.
Next up on the list, I'm thankful that I have a lack of in-law issues.
My in-laws are amazing people, and I'm one of those guys that always feels like it's
not enough, but the fact that I have in-laws that remind me that it is, you know, being
married to their daughter is something that they're okay with, you know.
I know a lot of people that don't have that, and I can honestly say I'm not one of those
people.
I'm still kind of always on my best behavior with them, because I want to make sure that
they understand that I'm in this for the long haul, you know.
And because of that, they've always made me feel welcome, you know, there's never been
a time, and there are times when Jen goes on her own, which is fine, you know.
But they've never made me feel like, no, we just want her, not you.
That's an amazing thing.
I've never married, I can't comment.
But you've had relationships where you've dealt with families.
Yeah.
That's fair.
Don is a newlywed this year.
Well, it's kind of weird, because, you know, the Fantastic Faith Ford is from Nigeria.
I've never even met my mother.
You're going to sometime the next 365 days.
But, you know, she has three brothers, three sisters in.
And I met one from one of the brothers at the wedding, or y'all met one of the brothers
and sisters.
And two of the sisters, right?
One of the sisters.
And it was a cousin.
Oh, it was a cousin.
So there were three family members.
Yeah.
All high quality humans.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And like, huge, wide range.
Really cool.
She calls me bro.
I call her cis.
But the family that even though they never met me, they really liked me, because how their
family that knows me and met me, and what from faith says, how I treat faith and how I
treat them, the parents think I'm a great guy, even though I'm very to their daughter and
I never met them.
Which you will.
Again, you will, the next year.
Yeah.
It's going to be a good time.
I can't wait.
Yeah.
I can honestly say that with the Fizika clan, as I refer to them, Sean's family sometimes
treats me to the point where I wonder if they love me more than my own family.
But I know it's different, but equal.
And no matter how much crap her father gives me, I know it's good natured ribbing.
And now it's streamed out to the world.
So Joe, you can't deny it.
But her mother, her sister, her brother, just inviting me to their Christmas where they
used to get together at her great aunts and had all of the family making me part of that
group was just heartwarming, if that's not least too much, but it's just why I never have
to cringe when I hear, hey, family's coming to visit and it's like, okay, I might have
to see your brother naked because he got his towel, but that's about it.
And I have seen Alex react when he hears that the in-laws are coming and he gets excited
and knowing the sensational Sean and her sister, they're lovely, they're just, they're
very tolerant of my nature.
Oh yes.
Next up, I call out the family because I don't have friends, I have family.
And as a guy who there will never be a time where all of my family will be in the same
room again, I maybe see my mom once a year.
Because she lives in Boise, you know, none of the grandkids, because our parents don't
get along, my mother and her brother just don't get along.
And so those two cousins, I'll be lucky if I see again and I love them all dearly.
So I have these other people in my life that kind of helped fill that void, which is
why I say I don't have friends, I have family.
So if we have spent any form of time together, I'm very thankful for that because, I guess
it helps me fill that void.
And whether we go to church together, whether we work together, whether we hang out together,
you know, whether we've survived the convention together, whether, you know, whatever it is,
whether we went to school together, whether, I know this is so weird for me to say, but
whether I've, I've been your youth director and now you have kids.
There's just something to that that you can't describe and you can't, you can't replace.
You survived a hurricane together that we did.
And I'm thankful for that, you know, I'm thankful for that or Hurricane Irma week because,
when we talked about this and we talked about the Irma incident, that if we had gone
to Disney that weekend, we wouldn't have spent nearly the amount of time together that
we did and to spend three days in incredibly close quarters that's smaller than the room
we're in right now.
I had, even though it was a weird situation, I had the best time because I got to spend
time with people that I don't get to spend time with otherwise.
And it just means the world to me to have people in my life that want to spend time with
me and I'm thankful for that.
Family is first.
I'm very blessed that my parents and I are as close as we are, that I have my extended
family through my red hat group, my altruistic group, and now my bar three group.
I hit the 100 class mark, which is, you did, muzzle top, which is 100 hours and walking
into the room that day.
I couldn't think of anything I did for 100 hours last six months.
Well, yeah, six months and walking into the room that day and they were so excited and
so positive.
I think it's the only time I've giggled during an almost entire workout because, you
know, you do lose some oxygen.
You can't.
But when I could actually breathe, I giggled the whole time and I've had so much support
on Instagram and Facebook, you know, from our empire, from friends, from friends I haven't
even seen since elementary school because they moved.
I wouldn't have done it without my family.
We're going to go with the word family here without their support because I would have
given up on me.
I need to remember that I'm important and that's what my family does for me.
What else, guys?
Well, it's in the more traditional sense.
I can distinctly remember my dad putting himself through basically professional hell to make
sure that me and my sister had it and my sister for always having my back even when being
caddy at times and then you extend it into, I'm very lucky to work with people that I very
much care about and, you know, whether it be Jen coming up and working on something or
Chelsea and her husband, Josh, bringing Brody over or Kailana or Oscar and Thaline coming
over for Halloween.
Or us filling your cube with balloons.
There is that.
That was the...
I totally knew that was going to happen, by the way.
So did I.
Yeah.
Never go on vacation unless you're willing to take the repercussions.
Yeah.
I just put a slight electrical current through everything and it usually solves all that.
Do I?
Do you have anything on this?
Yeah, but the friends, you know, like Gary's family still calls me family, you know.
And I'm looking for like this.
I miss him every day.
Yeah.
You are.
Yeah.
Um, next up, I'm thankful for a job that I love.
You know, I get to do things that cater to my strengths.
Although I'm very, very nervous this week, I'm teaching something I've never dealt with
before.
I'm teaching material of concepts that I'm still learning.
But I know that there's people that are helping me with it that know these concepts and
they're going to help me learn these concepts because I'm going to have to teach them on
the road in a couple of weeks.
But I still love my job.
The commute can suck.
But if that's the worst part of my job, I'm still doing okay because there's a lot of
people out there that have jobs they don't like.
And to have a support system that allows me to do outlandish things because they know
how I'll own it if it doesn't work.
But I've proven, I feel like I've proven myself enough in the last six years that I can make
something work.
And if it doesn't work, I can help find ways to make it work.
And it's just, it's really nice to be at that point in my life that I have a job that
affords me these luxuries working for a company that I absolutely love and absolutely believe
in.
I'm just, I'm, I just enjoy my job.
And I like my job.
I've got some great co-workers like Alex liar, but why other than working in a family
business, this is the only the second, I guess other than that, that I've had the feeling
that they have my back.
I report to a VP and he believes in me and he has my back.
Prior to that, I had an amazing manager supervisor that she has got me believing in myself again.
And she knows what I can do and she will push me.
And I just, I'm really glad to be in that environment and I don't have a bad commute which
is why I work for the company I work for.
Indeed, indeed, about what a quarter of a mile.
Just under a mile.
One, one street light.
Done.
For me playing simple.
I have a job.
Indeed.
That's indeed.
You have a job where you can see the difference that you make, which is just awesome.
Yeah, but regardless, I mean, yeah, I work for the state and yeah, the pay is not the
best in the world.
Trust me on that.
But like the benefits alone.
Your pay doesn't just hit your pocket.
Yeah.
But, but you know, I'm saying that the, you know, benefits come along with working with
the state and everything.
I mean, to be able to add, like, faith to the insurance and stuff like that.
So.
Well, no, just I meant your interaction with the people Houston is so rewarding.
Yeah.
Well, it was so physically and mentally tough.
It was one of the toughest things physically and mentally I did, but the, that 28 year old
lady who hugged me, not said, yeah, you know, and I'm just, I'd like to just co-sign
on the beginning of that one where it's I'm just grateful that I have a job.
Indeed.
And everybody feels like they should make more.
I feel like I should make more because I value me.
But I can say that I'm very well compensated for what job I have that shouldn't exist
except for attorneys are involved.
Next up, I'm thankful for Gracie.
This thing has been a huge chunk of my life now for almost seven years and it's gone
through a lot of change a lot.
The heart and soul of it has always been what it is and to know that even the people
that were originally part of this deal still support this deal and are kind of helping
me through some of it and the guys that are in the band right now are amazing and they've
all got amazing hearts and they're amazing musicians and we're having fun and I can't
wait to see what the future brings for this ministry and we're ready to start going
back and playing in the prisons again which is such an amazing part of my life and the
most humbling thing I've ever done and I just I can't wait to get this thing moving again.
We had a great practice yesterday where we just started tinkering around with some stuff
and we took songs that we've been playing for years and we've made them even more fun
to play and I'm just thankful that it's still there.
And for those of you that have stuck with us through the thin times and through the
thick times, thank you and we cannot wait to show you what's next.
And if you're just now getting on board, strap in because it's about to get awesome,
even more awesome than it already is.
Next up, I'm thankful for the block church.
Which is a very strange thing for me because where I grew up, church is very different
than it is here.
And I don't want to tell stories of us to why because there are certain people in those
stories that may want me to name them and even if I don't name them, you will know who
they are.
But the people that I'm involved with now with the block church, Leanne and Gary Shull
who are two of the most high quality humans I have met in a very, very, very long time.
We're a small group, we're growing, but to be involved with people that truly have
fire for the word and want to be the beacon and don't care about the spotlight and are
more worried about getting the word out than having it be coming from them.
That's the heart of ministry.
That's what we do.
And I get to spend my Sunday mornings in a chunk of my Sunday afternoons with people
that I just like being around and I would like to hope and joy having me around.
But we went from five people in the living room and now we're 50 strong in a rec center
in a year and a half.
So it's going to come time or we're going to keep growing.
And I'm just thankful for the people in Philly that have supported us.
Jamie's going to be here this week.
He's going to be preaching with us next Sunday.
And just the support they've given us and the vision that they've helped us acquire.
And the fact that they just, they believe in us and they let us do what we do.
I'm just thankful for that.
I'm thankful for the crew.
421 episodes of this madness.
300 and almost 330 iTunes exclusives of which we've done three on our own.
Like you think about the fact that over 300 times some entity thought enough of us to
say we want you to be a part of this event and we think that you talking about it is valuable.
You know, it started because we all went together to see man of steel and went to dinner
afterwards and said, hey, let's just go back to the house afterwards and talk about this.
And it's turned into, I mean, we recorded three of them today, which is insanity.
And we've got two more this week, one more the following week.
The fact that people send us their films and the mail to be considered in our lists at
the end of it here, like that, that's just mind blowing to me.
And the fact that we've been able to meet so many amazing people this year alone has
been huge for this show.
And we can't do it without you guys.
Like if it was just me sitting in a studio, which has happened one time and it will never
happen again, they would get really old, really quick.
So whether you're clubhouse proper now, whether you've been clubhouse proper in the past,
whether you've been a periodic guest, whether you've done the show one time, whether you
sat across from me at a table, at a film festival, or a pinball festival, or at North Texas
giving day, or any of the absolute madness things, whether it fox and hound, no matter
what it was, this show is not what it is without the people in this room, the people on the
other side of this microphone, the people that download the show every week, both of you.
I'm thankful that we have this outlet.
I'm thankful that Chad put the idea in my head almost eight years ago.
I'm thankful that Cody decided to give this a whirl for the first year and a half.
And I'm thankful that everybody that's come through this, you know, I don't know Don
without this show.
I don't know Devon without this show.
So I don't know if I don't know Devon, I don't know Jen, I don't know Jen, I don't know
Alex.
You know, um, there's a lot of people.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Yeah.
And brother, we're thinking of you and we love you, um, you know, without Kelly Kitchens,
we don't have all this stuff.
You know, Gary Murray, who we will always give credit to, as the guy that looked at Don
one day and said, why don't you guys get on press lists and we're like, dude, we don't
even know what that is.
Yeah.
And he gave us the names and he gave us the names.
And the fact that we really do try to pay it forward, um, we're thankful that the movie
brothers are doing so well.
Oh, yeah.
Kevin and I love those boys like they were my own brothers, you know, and the fact that
we get to see them periodically, not as much as I'd like to, but the movie brothers
are some of our favorite people, favorite people in the world.
The fact that we have this outlet is such an amazing thing and I will do it until the
wheels fall off.
And then I might try again just to be safe and that doesn't mean just during an episode.
No.
This is, this is a chunk of my life.
I'm going to drive right by that block.
We've had enough bad puns tonight.
But I mean, everybody brings what they bring to the table and the show isn't what it
is without everything that people bring to the table.
And I like that we have this cavalcade of people that come through because it makes every
episode different and it makes every episode fun in its own way.
And I love it when I run into people and they're just like, love the show, love you guys,
what you guys are doing.
It still amazes me that there's people in this world that I've known for years are like,
you have a show?
I have for eight years.
So thank you guys because otherwise, even you guys motivate me to do this even when I
don't want to.
Well, I know.
Because there's times when I'm just like, you know what?
I could really just sit on the couch tonight and just watch TV and be okay with it.
But.
And I'd still show up at your door.
And you're a bother.
Welcome to.
But the one thing is you, I'm just the host, I know, but without you running the stuff
and everything else, I appreciate that.
No one else would hear us talking if you weren't here running the board.
I do smartest man.
The smartest man alive.
Question mark.
Because he pushes buttons.
Hey, only question mark comes from Brittany Palmer and that's the only person that's
acceptable from.
No, no, unless it's the apple.
No, no, no, she actually one of my, one of my, one of my calendars actually says to
Rob smartest man alive with a question mark.
This year's is the whole ERPI anything and next year is the last one, which then leads
me to my next one, my next to the last one, and it's the empire.
Oh, yeah.
The fact that we have a group of people that are involved with the show, whether it's,
you know, when Russ is in the chat room or whenever I'm getting texts from people that
are just like, I'm listening back to the show, what the hell just happened here?
I, it's just knowing that we're bringing joy to people.
That makes all the difference to me.
Whether Don's bringing in VHS takes from 1991 with horrible poems, you know, it's, that's
what I mean, I always listen, I listen back to every show ever, there's only one show
in the history of the show I didn't listen back to and I have my own reasons for that.
But I listen to every show we do for two reasons, one, how can we make it better, two corrections.
But I also listen to it because sometimes I listen back or I'll catch something that
I didn't hear the first time, Andrew's really good at that.
I remember the first time it ever happened.
He was when Lincoln was out and just in the background and I didn't hear it live.
I heard it back when I listened back to hear Andrew go, Lincoln's surprisingly doing well
in theaters.
Like, I called him and I said, what in the hell did you do during my show?
Because I said, oh, he noticed that.
I'm like, how did I miss it live?
You know, um, buttons and things.
Yes.
We have an amazing audience and they're the best people in the world.
They really are because they support us and we've gotten amazing ideas from people.
From all over the world and that's what I love about this show is that it can be a global
community and that people do, they interact and to hear people say, hey, man, check out
the show this week.
Have this bit or, hey, this led me to a question.
Can you answer it?
We've made some amazing friends just out of people that we've run into at shows or it's
really awesome when you have somebody like Glen Morshauer sitting right across from you
and you finished interviewing him and he wants his picture with you.
Yeah.
Like, that blew my mind.
So much of the point that I forgot to take off my stupid headphones, but that's a whole
different issue or you look down and you look up and there's Leah Thompson who couldn't
have been more gracious and funny and engaging amazing, you know, or you run into somebody
like Major Dodge who's in bomb city and then you find out he's in a film that you're
one of your close friends made and he sees you and he's like, dude, and we have a 30 minute
conversation about both that film and we're bomb cities going or, or Ming Chen, Ming
Chen, you're on a podcast.
Yes.
You wanted to know more about it.
I love him and I hope next time they're in town, we can get him on the show or you're
sitting there and you're talking to Lord and Miller and you look down and you look up and
John Landis is standing right in front of you.
I will never not be amazed by moments like that, but we only get that because the Empire
feeds it.
Oh, yeah.
You know, and why the Empire feeding it, these things happen with Don working as hard
as he does at these festivals and we get to interview people that at the time, you may
not know who they are, but over time, they've become these juggernaut actors and directors
and producers and to think we had them on our show.
Someone is listening.
Oscar winner.
Yes.
By the guy who did the case of eight who won the Oscar.
Yeah.
The Empire.
We always say someone is listening.
That is our Empire.
And we love you guys.
You all have power.
And of course, the most important one are the other three beings that inhabit this home.
The fur balls as much as they're a pain in my butt.
They're my pain in my butt.
I have BB eight and toothless that live in this home and when daddy works, when I want
daddy works at home, I have the best coat, some of the best co-workers in the world.
Because sometimes it's just, you know, Hunter just sits up on the desk and he just sits there
and he lets me pat him and he just looks at me like you can keep doing that at school.
Or Jasper jumps up in the bed and he runs right up the front of me and just, you know, I'm
in head butt city for like 10 minutes.
You know, it's, it's those little things and then their mommy who we've actually been
able to get on the show very limitedly and one of these days, she's going to sit down
and do the show.
I'm faithful to that.
The fact that our marriage is now old enough to get a job, it's crazy to know that you've
been with somebody when you include, you know, total time served as I like to say, is
we'll be 18 years, no, it'll be 19 years next year.
And it feels like it's been two.
You know, I've always said that she accepts me for the man that I am, but she encourages
me to be the man that I want to be.
And the fact that there's times where she just goes, just let him go, he'll tuck her
himself out eventually, you know, she gets me, she understands me and she kind of lets
me be me.
She inspires you.
She does.
You know, sometimes it's something as simple as honey, just understand that if you're
going to do this, this, this and this is probably going to happen or honey, I think that's
an amazing idea and you should do it.
Or okay, what are you doing today, you know, I'm just thankful that I have that because
not a lot of people do.
I mean a lot of people who's, you know, don't understand that marriage is a partnership,
but it's neither one of us run things in here.
We work together towards a common goal and it's not that she lets me think it.
No.
And it's not that I let her think it.
Like we truly discuss things together and although we don't get to see each other as
much as we would like to because our schedules are so wonky, we've been together long enough
and we trust another and each other enough that that's not a problem.
It is a partnership.
And I'm thankful for that.
Yeah, and I'm thankful that because not a lot of people have that.
So you know, sure she doesn't listen, but that's okay.
You know, sometimes she listens.
Usually she's listening because she hears it live in the other room.
But I'm just thankful that we have that.
That somebody that I can talk to and be a part of and say, yes, I'm having these struggles
or this is a problem just as much as I can say this really cool thing happened today.
And not and have the same level of comfort either way.
You know, Dawn, again, you're a newlywed.
So what I think, you know, what's cool about you and faith is people can see how much
you genuinely adore each other.
Like yeah, it gets a little syrupy sometimes.
What do you mean?
Just just so sweet with each other, it kicks my prediabetes out.
Please, you're standing behind her wrapping her to protect her when we're in a crowd.
I mean, but it's, it's a beautiful thing.
And number one, getting to be a part of your day was amazing.
Just like it was for Britain Emily last weekend.
There was, there was no doubt on who is going to be doing it, you know, and I got one.
I really got to think my lovely wife, the fantastic face, she's an amazing woman.
But, you know, her allowing you, because I said, I, you know, she didn't have to.
You're absolutely right.
You're absolutely right.
But, um, she's smart.
Yeah, she actually has an MBA.
Well, no, I mean, she, I'm not even talking paper, I'm talking, she, and another one of
the best meals I've had in years.
She is a smart cookie, but in all honesty, you would have told me when I was a kid that
I'd be married to a lady from Nigeria, you had been like, what?
Where's that?
Actually, that was you last year, wasn't it?
Let's not even go into the whole, let's not even go into the whole, Tom's going to be
married when, let's just go where?
Let alone that a year ago, you told me I'd be married, let alone to, you know, somebody
from Nigeria.
And let's talk about it.
Um, you're the king of match.com, man.
Yeah.
But, you know, I want to, I want to really, you know, how accepting my family is and
her family is, you know, to the, because I was worried about, what would my family think
about this?
And they, once they met her, they fell in love.
That's their daughter.
But, you know, to my family, there's a very high quality humans as well.
Yeah.
Don't just count that family.
And they always talk about my mama.
But, you know, um, and there was a story, I'll tell you off, which happened this week,
but, um, how she allows me to do the show right now.
She's so cool with it.
And, you know, there's sometimes she just doesn't want to do press, but we talked before
we got married.
I don't want to take that away from you, because this show is so important.
And a lot of times, you know, no offense to everybody.
She's always my plus phone.
She gets the first dibs.
No offense.
Hey, she's sung on the show.
Okay.
We have singing.
But she talks, she's been on the show's bows as much as your wife, literally.
I mean, I think you're asking more than my personal, like, no, she only did with a Zee
Neat.
That's it.
So, with your wife.
Well, no, we got her on that.
She's on that one.
Has she done that with an integrated marketing?
No.
I mean, at the pinball festival, but, you know, because she does, and that's fine.
That's her choice, but how she allows me to do this.
And, you know, I have not regretted one day, one moment of being married with her.
I met her on our first date with February 19th.
And from that day on, it just grew.
And, you know, yeah, we, you know, have to deal with some issues, but they're being dealt
with Mary.
And, you know, things are only getting better for us.
Absolutely.
You know, and how you guys have accepted her means the world to me, and, you know, and
what you guys think about her and, but she's, I just love her to death.
She's my wife for a reason.
I have her go one day and how she allows me to do this and all this other stuff.
And, it's only you get better.
So, I literally, I have to think my wife, I love her dearly, beyond belief.
And I got to start the challenge on the match.com with a very short, funny story, because
I know we're running pretty long.
I was probably at my worst, about 11 years ago in Florida, and my mother got tired of
the decisions I was making and made a match.com.
Really?
Wow!
This gets better.
To the point where that's how I met the sensational Shawnee.
Nice.
So, it wound up going through and the questions about how long have you been on?
It's like, I don't know.
Is her name actually Shawnee?
Shawnee.
It's Shawnee.
Okay, because I know what Shawnee that I went to high school with.
Oh, no.
I was like, I've never met another one.
But to think that it started with something like that, and she came in and saw me at one
of my absolute worst where, you know, there's a lot of people who would have saw me at that
time and went, okay, putting somebody down is probably a good idea in this circumstance
and made me a better person every day for almost 10 years.
To the point where I can't imagine anything without her, and I am so lucky to have her
to be able to...
Well, it's the joke.
She's my co-op partner for life.
I mean, whether it be Borderlands or anything in life, and I'm so lucky she's smarter than
me in a lot of ways.
And I can say that because by this point, she would have turned the pot off.
But with her and the cats and the dogs and the family that is forlegged in the plans
for next February, on the 10 year, or different things that I may need to talk to Rob about.
So Rob, welcome to do.
Hey, if you ever get married to her, I'll be your flower.
I'll be the flower girl we're pink two two through flowers.
I don't need puns.
That's a bit mental image that will be with each one of you for the rest of the evening
here.
Welcome.
And Jen's got her dukes up.
She's selling dawn.
No, on that one.
No.
But I just...
Because I will make her, at least listen to this part, Shawn, you're the greatest 45 things
if not more that ever happened to me, and I love you.
I'm witnessing.
He said that without anything being held to his head.
Yes.
With no irony.
And one other thing I want to add real fast is how when, you know, we're newlyweds, but
her being so understanding and saying go to Houston.
I was gone three and a half weeks.
There you are.
You know.
That was...
You know.
And maybe next year I'll be able to add to this.
Never know?
You never know.
And I want to say to those of you, there's something that I talk that I say every once
and again, and I don't say that things that I say are profound very much, but this
is one of the very few things that I've found that I've said that I've found to be profound.
If you don't think that you make an impact on people or you don't think that you're loved
or what I want you to do is I want you to take a minute.
And I want you to imagine that you're receiving an award and you have to make a speech.
And think of all of the people that you would think in that speech for whatever that reason
is.
And then rethink the plan that you're not loved or that you're not valued.
Because you'll realize that you are no matter who you are, no matter where you come from.
There are people that love you.
There are people that are thankful for you and there are people that want to lift you
up.
So let them.
That being said, let's do the plugs.
