Another Week With TWO SHOWS!

So wow, this sounds worse than I thought it was going to be.

Welcome, my name is Rob by the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast and yeah, I'm
a little under the weather today, something just hit me like a freight train yesterday and
trying to shake it.
I don't know if it's the change in weather or what's going on, but yeah, it's been a tough
day.
Don, I don't understand what's going on.
So over there is my co-host and a man who's making sure I'm not by myself this
week.
Uh, he is Alex.
You got to stop texting me during the photo dude because more often than I'm not going
to give it till after the show.
To be fair, I did send that before we started.
It's just that our phones hate each other, but it's it's good to be back.
It's good to be on air, especially, you know, getting through the last few weeks and I was
going to let you know.
I'm going to go ahead and not with that part of it, but I'm just going to say you may
have noticed the particular introduction as far as wrestling goes.
We will be doing wrestling this week, but for that, you're going to have to come out Saturday
night, clubhouse at 4 p.m., ex-golf Frisco, off of Preston and Wade.
We're going to be covering wrestling.
We're going to be doing an entire Royal Rumble event.
If you're in the Dimetroplex area or you can make it there, you should come out.
45 hours from now.

So before we get too deep into NFL, I want to do something that's NFL adjacent, if

I always go out of my way for the seven layer dip on that one.
It helps that the sensational Shawnee makes a phenomenal seven layer dip.

If I'm going to do seven way that starts while you know beans and me, it is the musical fruit.
It's, it can't be store bought seven layer dip for so for you, it's the Shawnee market.

I will not hate on somebody to buy seven layer dip, but there is layers that it has to
be.

What I'm saying is, is it has to be one of the made in house.
You don't get the frozen seven layer dip or anything of that ilk.
You've got to go to somewhere like H e b and get a legit one if you're not making it yourself.
H e b is the exception to a lot of rules.
Exactly.
It's just like public.
There are exceptions to a lot of, nothing top of clubs or a lot of things at H e b.
What if I told you that Avocado's from Mexico, who used to sponsor a bull game, is rolling
out a new treat?
I could be intrigued.
I do like avocado.
I am a guacamole fan.
What if I offered you grunk a moly out?
It's going to smell like stupid in Arizona.
I am not a guacamole person.

Like when he was when somebody told him about asked him about being
out party in the night before a big game in his answer,
was just maybe because I'm a baller.

He's not pretending to be something he isn't.

I've got the pro bowl games going on.
But it is the NBA of football.
Why?

Bring back the quarterback challenge.
Which was part of it tonight.
No, no, no, the real quarterback challenge,
not this abomination that they have left.
I like what they do with that earlier.
Yeah, I like the original quarterback challenge.
There was a reason it was so awesome.
I got it to own video game.
Now, for that same concept,
you're going to look at different aspects.
And I'm going to say speed,
they're speed catching for receivers and running backs
and anybody that wants to go with it.
You just keep cranking up the jugs gun
until it's so bad it might break a finger.
Also, foot races, who's fastest?
I remember Daryl Green smoking fools,
then that was always fun.
Give me the rocky four montage for the big dudes.
Give me the lineman with the rocky four
just go in after machines and seeing how many pounds
of pressure that they can force somebody with on the sled.
Go on that, but give them cash prizes on top of it.
So we don't get like 5th and 6th string pro bowlers,
which does not count in my mind.
I'd rather see the four good people go.
And then you know what, do the bill Murray rule.
Throw somebody out of the crowd in there
so that you can compare how good the professionals are
against them, but have prizes on all of it
so that they're actually incentivized to be there.
Now, in that same scope, the highlight shouldn't be
the flag football game.
You should have a playoff game.
And you might ask, who would be in this playoff game?
Can I ask you worst record and the second worst record
is, and if the bottom two teams,
if that number two team beats the number one,
they get the first pick.
I believe you've talked about that before on this show.
I have done it for a couple of years.
I was going to go the other way with it
and have it be a consolation game.
May.
I understand where you're coming from,
but you're going to, with a consolation game,
you're going to run into the same thing
that you have with the pro bowl now.
There's no incentivizing.
Now, what you do with those bottom two teams
because as we know, there is a millions and millions
of dollars thrown at players for making it
to the Super Bowl or making the playoffs.
Or basically, there's an incentive every round they win.
Go with a conference championship check for those first two.
Let them know there's a bonus for playing,
so you actually get some legitimacy in there.
Guys, the only ones that can opt out
are the ones whose contracts are up at the end of the season
and they want to keep themselves healthy
for free agency.
That's it.
Other than that, they play.
I do, I did like the quarterback thing they did earlier
tonight where they have the big screens that are moving.
And they have to clear like their,
their, their pointed one to five,
depending on the distance and the size of the screen
and they can get those back until they clear them out.
Like, I thought that was kind of cool,
but I also liked what the NHL did a couple years ago
in Vegas with the skill shots
where you were basically playing play blackjack.
Yep.
And shash.
I'll tell you what.
Right.
The arts until you get to 21.
I thought that was kind of dope.
I have long hated skills competitions
because they're so ineffective.
Like, I'll go back to the days of the Homer and Derby
being on TV when they had the old reruns of the guys
from the 50s that were making extra money
because you had like, mantle and maze play against each other.
I'm good with stuff like that where it was streamlined.
This is too much, but when the NHL was in Vegas,
I was captivated, hitting passes across the Balaji
of Fountains.
Hell yeah, let me do stuff like that.
And if you want, I'm going to give you something
because they do this.
They did this at least one year as part of the Pro Bowl.
They had the guys hitting wedge shots
for closest to the pin.
You know what I want?
Top three from every position group.
Do a TGL tournament in Jupiter.

It was perfectly timed in memory of Bob Euchar.

But as this past weekend,
Philly giving six to the commanders
and it wasn't necessary
because they beat him by three touchdowns
and hung a 50 burger on him.
And then, uh, and he came to you.
Yeah.
And then the other game, Kansas City.
I just, the Kansas City refs.
I have tired head.
I'll say it.
I don't care.
Like,
don't leave it up to the refs.
That, that is 100% right.
And the way I saw somebody say it was,
you got to beat the chiefs by 10
because otherwise things are going to happen.
You never, just like in boxing, right, MMA.

Somebody who says they're not watching is just completely lying.
I watched this show about something else, but I know we don't say those words.

As I just, I love the Super Bowl.
I love the matchup.
Just the, I love pageantry.
I love everything about it.
I love the excuse to get together and smoke 30 pounds of chicken wings that Alex and
nice to put between us.
I'm sorry.
I wish I'd get more because those sauces were amazing as well.

But have I ever told you my favorite thing that comes with the Super Bowl?
And I don't get to do it very often, but when I can make it out to Vegas for the
big game, the prop bits, oh, that is my specialty.

Because we do that every year.
Here's the thing.
I'm actually going to reach out to some context.
I'm going to get legit because the Westgate, a home away from home for me in Las Vegas,
does a Super Bowl props contest every year where you have to get.
And I want to say at one point it was 40 questions, but it was like winter takes all for
100 bucks, but you'd wind up with like 15,000 people involved because it's Vegas around
the Super Bowl, but they would have ones obviously you start with like the coin toss heads
or tails.
I don't think I've ever bet heads, but in that same scope, you have, you know, over under
the National Anthem, what color will the Gatorade be, all of the ridiculousness.
And for some reason, I remember the first time I did it.
It was the Saints Super Bowl and one of the prop bits was Wood Reggie Bush proposed to
Kim Kardashian because that was the couple at the time.
And I laughed all the way to saying, no.
We also have a couple of announcements as far as some of those prop bits go.
America, the beautiful will be done by Trombone Shorty and Warren Dagle.
It's a pretty good combination.
Okay.
And John Baptiste will be doing the National Anthem.
I am unfamiliar, but I will also tell you, if you're going to bet on anything like that,
look at their music catalog, if they tend to like to extend certain notes, bet the
over.

We have an interesting note that came down today as we talk NBA, garbage, won't you?
David Silver now saying he wants to make the games for 10-minute quarters so they can
finish the game in under two hours.
Right now, your current average time front in the game sits about two, six, and interesting
point made today by Tony Cornheiser was, take all your in-game records and throw them out.
Because if you're, if you're cutting eight minutes out of the game, you'll know you're
no one's ever going to break Wilts 100 point game, things of that nature.
I just don't know why, like some of the stuff that Major League Baseball has done, I get
it because that can be a long night.
Baseball was four plus hours, now as much as I hate the modern NBA, timing was never
part of the problem.
But I really think it is, is the fact that people are getting dumber and they're trying
to keep it simple and they're like, there's four quarters to a hole, it's only 10 minutes
because people can't do numbers that aren't whole.
I still think that college men's needs to go to four quarters because college women's does.
That still blows my mind.
That still baffles me and I actually don't have much of an issue, but I also don't really,
I don't care about the difference in that because the reason is where that really matters
is during March Madness, where their four quarters are almost baked in by TV timeouts.
So I don't take issue with it.
But that's on the table, apparently, right now.

Let's go to NBA sooner money, Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the Brooklyn
Methods are terrible, but their tide was a long, no, but there's a half game between them.
Toronto now, four and a half back on Philly, Philly's now 12 games back on the next,
but with a mix of one, five and a row, every team in the Atlantic Division has at least
got one game under them and the win column, okay.
They are combined, heaters, six, 10.
They are a combined, 16 game heater right now, oh wow, Boston up by a game in the central
division, the Chicago Bulls are still pretty bad.
Their 18 and a half back, they're three and a half back on Detroit, former champs of basketball
are three and a half back on Indiana, Pacers are a half game back on Miller, okay.
And by the way, Cleveland's one, two and a row, and they are now 11 games up in that
particular division in the southeast division.
The Washington Wizards, they got six wins right now, bro.
I think it's six more wins than we do.
17 games back, they're seven back on Charlotte Hornets now, eight and a half back on Atlanta.
Atlanta's a game in a half back on Orlando and Miami, who are tied with Orlando's
got the, got the tie break.
By the way, your point differential for Washington, 14.8 miles in the western.
It sounds so small when you realize it's like just losing over and over against.

And that's double the, almost double the team closest to them, which is fly pelican.

Well, I find it interesting because I have no concept on what's going on with San Jose,
but I know Chicago is on the rise because of a young core of talent.
Pittsburgh, well, when your best player is Sid the kid who's closer to an AARP card
than he is to being a kid anymore, kind of tends to go down.
If they were to somehow, miracle becomes the best goal differential in the league.
Because of today, that would be a 116 goal turnaround because the jets have the current
best in the league at plus 59.
I like the parody of the NHL because even when we do the baseball one, it's like your highest
run scoring is like 150.
The Chicago White Talks minus 300, whereas hockey tends to stay balanced.
All right, I was going to some TV with stuff we watched this week television edition.
I have to take it down a lot.

I was going to say, this was going to be a very SNL heavy week and both segments.
Okay, because the SNL 50 documentary that I consider that a series because there were four
parts to it, okay, over there, I heard something need to check on something.

Timothy Shalame, both hosted and musical guest at this past week because of the Bob Dylan

he's just fantastic.
He did a great job on the show.
He's very, very funny.
Very much enjoyed his work on SNL.

I didn't see when they were coming back because the only thing they advertised was the
actual 50th anniversary special, which I needed to look that up because I couldn't remember
the exact date on that.
I think I just had it on there.

So that's going to be a three-hour show.
It's going to be a huge deal.

It looks like one of the cats knocked down some of the construction stuff.
So we were just talking about SNL and then the 50th anniversary, three-hour spectacular,
we'll be February 16th, which is the same night as something else we're going to have
to talk about here in just a moment.
But the documentary series is in four parts.
Originally, I wasn't going to talk about this till tonight because I wanted to get Alex's
genuine reaction, but I couldn't hold it back.
The first episode, now IMDB has the second and third episode's flipped.
I'm going by the way, peak-option it.
Okay.
The first episode is called Five Minutes.
And basically it goes through, when you audition for Saturday night live, you're brought
in and you got five minutes to do whatever you think it will take to get the gig.
And a lot of the cast members actually had to watch their auditions.
One of the funniest was Amy Poer because she was like, you got 60 seconds.
There's no way I'm watching it all five minutes of this.
And you get to the 60 seconds, this isn't enough.
Go ahead and turn it off.
I'm good.
Well, you remember what the bridge is with Amy Poer.
Go ahead.
Her and Paul sheer auditioned back to back.
So anybody who has watched us for a while knows we've talked about how to get made.
Well, sheer also partially attributes say to the fact that Amy Poer absolutely crushed it
as she did it all times.
So he was following her and he was like, yeah, it didn't matter how good I was.
It wasn't happening.
And last week's, I haven't listened last week's, HDTGM yet, but they did make a lot of
us.
So, we got to make that on listen.
Oh, I'm going to skip episode two and come back to it.
Episode three was called Written by a week in Fretti S&L writer's room.
This was a really interesting one because all, all, all, all, one, three and four ran
about an hour, six and a half or seven.
But this goes through from Monday morning until live how the writing process works.
And it's kind of, and they used last year's episode with with aio in a berry as the framework.
So it was really interesting how that works.
Episode four is called Caesar.
Well, it's also interesting because I want to say she has written some segments for the
gel.
Hasn't she?
You may have.
I don't know.
There it goes.
Season, Episode four was called Caesar 11, the weird year.
Okay.
Well, but she is a known writer as well.
This was the year that Lauren came back after he left for five years and this is one
year they had the cast with Robert Downey Jr.
and Michael Anthony Hall and how wheels off that got and some very interesting opinions
that came out of that.
It was also the year Tom Hanks hosted for the first time.
So, but I like that a lot because it was the one that had the big marquee and they had
the host in the musical guest on like a movie theater.
Okay, I really like that set a lot, but episode two, if you're going to watch one of
these four, you have to watch episode two.

you didn't notice before and it's it's wonderful.

March 9th.

That's an L 50th season.
They announced today that there's going to be an SNL 50 concert on Valentine's Day
streamed on peacock.
So far they have announced the Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, David Byrne and the
Eddie Veter.
And that's it.
They said there's going to be even more.
And that's I think that's going to be a three hour deal.
Okay.
So the righteous gemstone news for anybody paying attention, it would hit me more than it would
hit other people because it was Megan Malali and Sean Williams got joining nice up.
He's on that.
He's on that Tim Allen show now.
Yes, he is I did not recognize him.
I was having dinner with some friends and it was on and I was like, oh, that's Sean Williams
got.
But to his credit, he's looked very comparable for 30, 40 years now.
And he's also got a very funny cameo right in the beginning of the movie Jackpot with
the John Cena.
Of course he would.
He kind of sets up the whole storyline.
Gotcha.
TV on DVD and blue ray this week, seasons two and season two and the complete series
for the Quantum Leap reboot, a 60th anniversary special edition complete series and with
on blue ray for B Witched, not the movie.
Although the movie produced one of my favorite family guy bits of all time.
I was just going to let that go.
They are repackaging the complete series for boardwalk empire.
It's one of those ones that's on my list.
I've never seen a moment of it.
I can't wait till you do as well as gossip girls getting a repackage complete series.
And again, sorry, in my life, 50, they're doing a 50th anniversary collection right now
we're releasing seasons one through five in one set.
Also the complete series for the regular show for the Williams brothers.
And they're doing a very interesting twin peeks box set that's going to have all of
the original episodes, the limited series that was on show time.
Bearwalk within the end over 20 hours of bonus features.
It's going to be called twin peeks from Z to A.
Oh, okay.
So I'm very much, I would be interested in this.
I don't even know none to know what the price point is.
That's going to be all I want money.
We do want to say one quick music note this week, announced this morning the passing of
Marion Faithful at the age of 78.
She was one of those people that kind of kept pop music.
So she'll irrelevant, especially in the 60s and 70s.
Most people would know her as the the woman's voice in the original unforgiven.
Metallica.
Oh, wow, yeah.
And it was actually a headfield's post that where I found out that she passed.
I was like, oh my goodness.
So she had severe laryngeitis and along with drug abuse in the 70s,
a bloodler voice permanently raspy cracked and lower in pitch.
And so she would just do that kind of moody stuff.
Am I frozen to you?

That was only momentary.
So I figured it'll catch.

But yeah, she passed away this week at the age of 78.
Getting into stuff we watched this week.
Movie edition.
Keeping in our theme.
I saved this for movies because I watched it today.
It's called Ladies and Gentlemen.
50 years of SNL music.
This runs about two hours and six minutes co-directed by the question mark love.
I dug this documentary.
Oh, you've been watching.
So you know it's going to be good.
Yeah.
But they do address this genital Connor thing.
Go.
Well, I would, I don't know.
You may want to leave it for people to watch.
Watch it.
I mean, it's by today's standards that would not have been as big of a deal as it was in 1992.
It wouldn't have been any.

Did you ever hear the blues travel story?
Because they don't tell this on there.
I believe I have a please go for it.
So blues traveler wanted to do a bit.
And SNL wouldn't let them.
Then at the end of their second song that they held up a picture of like a sponge fish.
And y'all fight the real anatomy and then ripped it up.
That's yes.
They wouldn't let them do it.
Oh, they talk.
They come back because you could tell where the commercial breaks were.
They're because they're because you know,
case you had the ad supported.
They come back from a break and the music producer goes
Kanye is that all we could we're not saying to think else for the rest of this interview is
Kanye and they go through that entire episode and how insane it got.
Yeah.
I want to say that was the last episode I actually watched all the way through.
And a very interesting perspective from Ego Nodim that was her first episode.
And her being on stage.
Yeah, very interesting.
But it's a really, really well done documentary.
I posted the opening to it.
Oh, so that that I told you, if there was a way to just give that opening awards,
I would fight for that to happen.
I want the MP3 of just that opening.
Yeah.
But they also talk a lot about them doing in personations of music.
Of course, Timberlake is very heavily influenced in this, of course.
Yes, they talk about the video and how that changed everything.
They talk about Delonely Island and it's a really, really good.
It's a well done documentary.
They talk about, there's a little segment in there.
They talk a little bit about Nirvana and Dave Earl talks about one thing I learned about Dave
is he, when he gets nervous behind the drums, he just plays them louder.
He goes in that the first time we played SNL and when we played team spirit, I almost broke my
snare drum head.
That doesn't surprise me.
I want to say he mentioned that in the in the documentary that he did a few years ago with his
mom and they also, yeah, they also talk about the sketch he did.
With Fred Armisen at the wedding where his, the ride's dad gets his band back together.
And it's just like knowing, not knowing now what I didn't know then.
Oh, yeah, really into that sketch.
But yeah, it's on peacock, check it out.
I very much enjoyed it.

comes to things of its ill and Disney's like, no, no, we like money.

It was announced that we are getting terrified or four.
And part of that is very unique the origin story of art the clown.

Tuesday.
Netflix lied before, but I believe him.
Netflix saying this week that on my birthday, July 2nd, they will debut the old guard

Yeah, gives me a excuse to watch the first one. And in November,
oh, I saw this one. Guillermo del Toro will be directing his version of Frankenstein
with Oscar Isaac playing the doctor.
Did you see anything on this? I just saw the headline, I'm sorry, I need to know.
Let's just do you want to know anything. Feel free.
So the cast is phenomenally stacked. The meat of the movie actually takes 40 years or takes
place 40 years after the perceived death of the monster.
Oh, wow. So Oscar Isaac, they haven't said whether it's going to be an awful lot of flashback
driven or if there's going to be like the first half is in the time of Victor Frankenstein
and then the rest of it. But allow me to tell you this. At least part of the movie,
based 40 years after, is focusing on a man who is hunting the monster that everyone thinks is dead.
Oh, wow. If I told you that this was a character named Dr. Pretoria's
and his name was the one that really got me signed on with this. Okay.
Who would you think that might be? I don't think right now. That's fair.
If I told you he has two Oscars, one for playing a Nazi and one for playing a dentist.
Kristoff vault. Kristoff vault is playing Dr. Pretoria's who is hunting the monster.
I love him. I do, too. But you have me a goth. You have Jacob awardee playing the monster.
Spoiler alert. But there is, if you go to IMDB, this cast is as stacked as I have ever seen
for a Netflix movie. Movie new releases in places you get movie new releases tomorrow. A movie
called Companion. This has Sophie Satcher, Harvey, Ian, and Jack Quade. A billionaire's death
sets off a chain of events for Iris and for her friends during a weekend trip to his
late side of the state. This is another robots are taking over thing. We have a family film this week
called Dog Man. I don't know how I feel about this, but I know it's very popular. He's half
Dog half a man. He's sworn to protect and serve as he doggyly, so did their pursues the
feelign supervillain PD the cat. It's got that, it's got that kind of wall of some
grommet feel to it a little bit, but we don't have a correlation. We also have love me with
Kristin Stewart and Stephen. Is it when? Why you Ian? You. Okay. A post-apocalyptic romance in which
a buoy and a satellite meet online and fall in love after the end of human civilization. What?
It. This looks to be a mix of CGI and practical. I would think so based on that summary.
It kind of looks like they're in like he's the satellite and she's the buoy, but in a past life
maybe they were together. I, you know what? This is just insane enough that we're going to have to
see more. Yeah, they're definitely practical, but maybe it looks all practical. I don't know.
We'll find out more as we get closer. Did you see the ad for the next Apple TV plus movie release?
I can now they're confirmed or did I? The gorge? Oh yeah, I've heard about this. I saw the trailer
for the first time today. I think it just released. I'm on board. It's, it looks like nothing and
everything all at once. Not to be confused with everything everywhere all at once. But with Miles Teller
and Onyetailer Joy and basically that's kind of it for the movie. I'm really intrigued by this
no small bias to the fact that it is Scott Derrickson that wrote and directed. So let's go.
Your basic plot point is two highly trained operatives become close after being sent to protect
opposite sides of a mysterious gorge. Would an evil emerges they miss work together to survive
what lies within? Yeah, it's exactly what you see on that one. But there's a really fun
interplay with that set up and where it goes in the trailer. I am excited for this on Valentine's Day.
We also have around the decay. A young woman returns to the site of her broken engagement,
Newport's Valley, a sleepy tourist town with an all-consuming secret. There's something like
trying to eat them by looks things. And the the tagline is only monsters can kill monsters.
We also have valiant one. This is Chase Stokes is in this.
With tensions between North and South Korea, a US helicopter crashes on the North Korean side.
Now those survivors must work together to protect these civilian tech specialists and find their
way out without the help of the military support. Kind of reminds me a little bit, the story wise.
Black Hawk down and I found out today that there's a new Black Hawk down documentary hitting Netflix
in February. That feels awkwardly timed. So yeah, I'm not sure what that means.
Off air. Okay, fair enough. And we also have Lake gorge that comes out this week.
Based on true events four years after a heist has gone wrong at release convict and a well to
do father to be must come up with a hundred thousand dollars and one night or else a family member
will be executed in prison. Very strange.
All right, movies on DVD and blue ray this week. On Tuesday, we have wicked part one.
There's also going to be a limited edition gift set with with gold tone metal bookends.
Okay. Yeah, that sounds right. We also have the Frank Grillo Wear Wolves movie that came out
late last year. I was intrigued by this one. It looked pretty good. A real pain, which is also
going to be on Netflix this month. Well, it's already on Hulu. So go go watch it. Please. Wonderful film.

Cause forever called VHS beyond. Um, because blue house. Hey, they got the right business model.

escaped imprisonment recaptured. Um, she has due to be sacrificed to an ancient evil in the
wilderness, but that but fights for her own survival. Some are a weaving is in this. Oh, nice.
Oh, a young woman fighting for her survival. She's never done that before. Don't start. Um,
hey, I like ready or not. Uh, terrifying. That could save time. It's some are a weaving. If you
need it, you need it. Yeah. Uh, terrifying. Three, the limited edition collectors box set.
Got that going for you. Uh, Joan, a, a Joan jet documentary called Bad Reputation.
That I am very interested in. She's touring with Billy Idol. This. Oh, wow. That'd be a good show.

And the criterion collection does a film this week that I thought was incredibly
overrated in punch and clove. That, the, yeah, I get you on that one. I just, I love Adam Sandler.
I thought it's performance was great. It's just not a good film. It's, it's trying too hard.
To borrow the family guy theme that we've been using. It insists upon itself.
Wasn't that, was that PTA? Excuse me? I directed that. It was Paul Thomas Anderson. Yes. Yeah,
Emily Watson, Philipsy, more Hoffman. Uh, well, the question I was expecting was was it,

like, it's got a great cast. It's just a Marilyn Rice Club who's, uh, they're on my show.
It's just not a good film. PTA's real hit or miss with me anyway.
