tonight. Find that very ironic because he's the guy from Montana. Well, actually we got some
snow but hasn't really stick. There was only a little bit on the graph. You're words and
pretty showered. We did not get snow. Well, he also just used the word stick instead of stuck.

NCAA football going on right now, Notre Dame and striking distance of scoring about
halfway through the first quarter. All four of us have the same picks tonight and tomorrow.
So let's see how we've all got Notre Dame and Ohio State. Currently, Alex and I are tied for
the lead with 24 wins. Alex Don and Ziggy are just right behind us at 22 and 23 respectively.
And the over under is one game above. Yep, 22 and 21 right now, but that's still a win.
Still a win. In the NFL, our final pick-up results. I did okay.
Caught my way back into it. Also, as Alex just said, we have
breaking news on the NFL front. The wild card game to be played at SoFi between the Vikings
and the Rams has been moved to Monday night. We want to say no matter where you are,
there's all kinds of extreme weather all over the country. Let me let me finish Alex.
We want to spend our best out to you to whether it's extreme cold or extreme heat.

I had a house fire and that was not fun. That was, you know, it didn't destroy everything like we
have. I was homeless for a week, but it was not fun. It was tough. I know what they're going through
and some people had it 10 times worse than I did. Not that I had a bad sense. In
infinitely in some cases. Yeah. Yeah. People might have watched their houses go away on television
when they were nowhere near it. I mean, that just being. Yeah. And of course, on the other
extreme of that, the people that are dealing with the extreme cold,
yeah, that brings with us. So know that you're in our thoughts. And if you are able to go out
and support any way you can, we want to make sure we say that as well. Let's get into super wild
card weekend. I just love that name. I love that name. It's super. It feels fishy.
That's because there's a billion teams like the NBA. Saturday, 330 Central, the chargers go to
NRG Stadium and they're giving Houston three. Houston has been so terrible, but that's I still
don't have faith. I'm the routine charger defender on this show. And I still feel like I need to take
Houston. I'm not going to because they've been terrible, but do you use them once the three done?

Don, your Pittsburgh Steelers go to M&C Bank Stadium to play the Baltimore Ravens.
We find out officially today. And his name just escaped my brain, but one of their leading
receivers will not play in that game. Day flowers. Day flowers. Thank you, sir. We'll not
be playing in that game due to an injury. Baltimore is giving them 10. Oh, dear God.
Well, they figured out if you double George Pickens, there goes Russell's moonball.
So, you know, this is my, this is my team and all that stuff. So I do want to get in this just
just a little little bit. I would say between the division games, you can have a team that's a
terror and you could have a team that's 12 and 12 and 12, I mean, 12 and two and the other one
that's three and 11. And it's still going to be a three, four point game. And I still think
that's going to happen. But the Steelers have lost what three, four in a row now is a four or three.
I can't even think of four. They're at four. Yeah. They're like 30 division weeks ago and they
just been on this falter. No, Tom. Yeah, he's going to have the winning record. But again,
just like every other year, except one, which he went off the, the very Switzerlander year,
he's going to go home the dance alone after the dance starts. He got invited to the dance,
he had a winning record, but, you know, he ain't going to go be on this week. I love my Steelers,
but this is it. Yeah. I wish Steven was here. Baltimore gave me Pittsburgh plus 10.
Don, you just contributed to win. Don, you just contradicted yourself when you're like,
it's still going to be so many points, but they're getting usually. I know, but this one,
because I don't usually get to be a blow up. This is how, this is how much I think that you're
going to kill them. Usually it's that three, four point game. Usually, but on this one,
Pittsburgh ain't going to show up. They're going to get clobbered. I'm taking this. It's a rare one.
You're taking Baltimore, do you mean? Yeah. You're the only one taking Baltimore at 10.
I will. I mean, Denver goes to High Mark Stadium Sunday at 12 cent noon central. Buffalo's
giving them nine. I don't think it's enough. Buffalo right now was a team on a mission,
at least for one more week. Give me Buffalo minus nine. I agree. I don't give me Denver. They
have actually looked like they had a pulse, not just in the game that they were playing the third
string chiefs, but at that same time, Denver's defense has looked solid all year.
And one of the things we're going to see in these is even if Buffalo gets up by double digits,
they're going to take it easy in the fourth quarter. They're going to try and keep people healthy
because they have ran into so much bad luck under during Josh Allen's career in the playoffs.
I feel like even if they are up enough to cover, Denver will backdoor it if not outright cover.
In the midday game on Sunday, 3 30 p.m. Central time, the Green Bay Packers go to the link to play Philly.
Jalen Hertz is practicing, but they're not saying whether or not he will play on Sunday.
They're otherwise they're down to their third string. Philly's giving them five.
I would be shocked to see Philly lose this because Green Bay, although they're starting to play
well, I don't know that they're playing up to their potential, honestly. I would take Green Bay
plus the five just because I think this is going to be close. I don't. I think this is Philly all
the way. The fact that Jalen Hertz is already practicing means he's going to play. Plus,
you look at Green Bay dealing with major injuries on both sides of the ball between Jaya Alexander
and Christian Watson, as well as Jordan Love having gotten knocked out of that last game,
at least for a brief period. He may be still dealing with some post bell ringing buzz.
I think Philly wins this by a touchdown. Don. I think it's a Philly on this one. I think they're
tough right now. Sunday night at Raymond James Stadium, Washington football team plays my
beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tampa Bay giving three, which makes this a pick on which makes sense.
Mike Evans getting that bonus and a great discussion on that around,
around or inside the NFL last night. And as much as like, I don't want to say I agree with Ryan
Clark on this. I agree with Ryan. You know, I mean, like, which was basically what he said was,
if you're the Satan, the saints, don't give that up. I'm defending you. You ain't paying my
and I'm like, you know, but I see it from both sides. It was a really good discussion. Go back
and check out the clip in a world where we have to deal with the fact that Jerry Jones has screwed
over one of his most loyal people from an incentive. I'm happy to see Mike Evans who more than
deserves this because if you want to get on top of everything, he missed three and a half games.
Yeah. And so as we have always said, you want to be upset about a blowout, do something to stop it.
Yep. I'm taking the Tampa. I'm just one Tampa minus three Alex. Yeah.
I want to take Tampa as do I, but I'm going to roll with Jane Daniels who I have been saying is
the next big thing since before this season and before the draft. I feel like Washington's either
going to keep it closer outright win. And I'm not 100% sure which I feel more.
I'm going to go ahead and stay with my team. But this is going to be a fun game to watch.
Yeah, it is. And as we talked about Monday night football in Glendale, the Rams hosting the Vikings,
sucks to be 14 and three and have to go on the road. Okay, for the record, this is all karma
on Minnesota right now because you had the wills buying hundreds and thousands or I want to say,
what was it? A thousand tickets in the lower bowl using a clickbait army on ticket master before
actual fans could buy it and then reselling it. Okay, then on top of it, even Detroit was saying,
it doesn't matter if it's us or them, I feel like the receding needs to happen because it's not
fair for a fork and Minnesota and all of their fans. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Mike, like
convincing over how, oh, they're just talking about this because they think they're going to have to
go on the road after we win. Yeah, that didn't happen. Now, did it. Minnesota giving to
you. Now, I want to acknowledge this is now a neutral site game. Right. Although more geographically
desirable. We need a neutral site because they're playing in Glendale. They're not playing in so
fine. The thing we just said during the breaking news, they're not breaking the Rams. Yeah,
there is no home team, even though this Rams will be making the thing now that, yeah, okay.
I'm taking Minnesota on this one though. Alex, I'm also taking Minnesota. You know what,
I'm going to go the other way just so we don't want to agree on everything. I hope you're right,
Rob. I really hope you're right. Just because of Mike's dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead,

In the Eastern Conference Atlantic division, the Toronto Raptors still waiting for that
10th win. They've lost three in the row. They're eight and 29 right now. They're 19 back. They're
five back of Brooklyn, Brooklyn. The nets are three back on Philly Philly. Now eight and a half
back on the nicks. The nicks are now two and a half back on Boston. In the central division,
the Chicago Bulls at 17 and 20 to tell you about this division at 17 and 20 three games below 500.
They're 15 and a half back in the division, which puts them two back of Detroit, former
champs of basketball. The pistons are a half game back on Indiana. Indiana's a half game back on
Millowaw K by the way, Cleveland's on an 11 game heater. And that's why they're 12 and a half up in
the division. In the Southeast division, the Washington Wizards. They're waiting on their seventh
win. They're 14 and a half back, but they're only two games back of Charlotte who's waiting on
their ninth win. That team having some problems with their professional sports teams. I'm just
saying, and that's Charlotte in general. That's what I'm saying. Charlotte that having problems with
their sports teams. Oh, no, we're talking about all around. They're having issues with other
things too. I got family there. They are 10 games back on Atlanta and Atlanta and Miami both
tied, but they're two and a half games back on the magic. By the way, Washington's point differential
is a minus 13.1 in the NBA and average of 13.1. Yeah. Oh, in the Western conference Pacific
division because that's where that is. Phoenix is three games below 500 and three and a half
back in the division. Sacramento has one five in a row, but they're only a game ahead of the
sons. They're a half game back on Golden State Wizard's a game and a half back on the Clippers
and the Clippers a half game back on the Lakers. We may we're probably not going to get to
wrestling talk tonight, but I just want to say one thing about this past week in our sport.
That into it dome is something else. That's impressive. That is impressive.
In the Southwest division, Fly, Pelican, so waiting on their eighth win. They're 18 back in the
division. They're 12 and a half back on the Spurs. The Spurs now three back on Dallas. Dallas
now three back on Memphis. Memphis is only a half game back on Houston Houston Houston. By the
way, New Orleans point differential is a 10.2. In the Northwest division, the Utah Jazz still waiting
on double digits in the winds themselves. They're already 20 and a half games back and it's January.
They're three and a half back on Portland, Portland. Now six back on Minnesota, Minnesota,
two back on Denver, Denver. Now nine back on Oklahoma City. That before that loss was on a 12-game
eater. Oklahoma City's been playing out of their mind. They seem to be playing in cycles.
Because on this very show about a decade ago, I said, but you probably a little bit more than
that. Probably season two or three. I was saying, this team's going to dominate the league for the
next five years. And then they did and then they really didn't. Well, that's what hard and
terrible. Let's get in and everybody else left. Yeah. Let's get into the NHL standings. By the way,
next season, gonna get an outdoor game in Miami. Get ready for that. And Tampa.
Yeah. No, I I need to see the tech in the Atlantic division of the country playing with snorkels.
That's what I want to know. Hold on one second. Five, seven, eight, nine, ten.
Of the teams in this division, all but two of them are on wind streaks. That combined wind
streaks is almost 15 games. Oh, now one team in the division is on a five game skid.
But let's go through it. The Sobreys, they have 41 points. I'm sorry, they have 35 points.
They played 41 games. They are, you know, 21 points back at first place. They are five points behind
Detroit. Detroit is behind Montreal. Canadians. You almost got the cricket, dude. Gotta be
quick. I'm having joy on your thing. I did immediately. I'm going to hurt Montreal. I'm probably
up to three. They're tied with Odorwa at 18 points. They are, I'm sorry, at 41 points. They're
three back on Tampa Bay. Tampa's one back on Boston. Boston's seven back on my beloved Panthers
who are now four back on Toronto, who's won five in a row. So they're on a five game heater as
Detroit in the metropolitan division. The New York Islanders, they're 21 points out of first
place. They are one point back on the Rangers. The Rangers are a point back on Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is currently three back on your beloved penguins Don. You're tied with Columbus
and you're both eight back on Carolina. Hurricanes three back on Jersey, Jersey, five back on
Washington in the Western Conference. We go to the Chicago Black Hawks. They're bad.
They're 28 points out of first place. They're three back on Nashville. Predators are now eight
back on Utah Hockey Club. I hate it. Hockey clubs appoint back on the Blues. The Blues now
nine back on Colorado. Colorado and Dallas are tied. They're both five back on Minnesota and
Winnipeg leads that division at 58 points in the Pacific division. The sun
are still in last place. They are, we'll get to them in a minute. They're a point back on the
Rangers. The Rangers are now, let's see. I didn't go back to the Western Conference. I'm sorry.

six back on Vegas. Who have won the top three teams in this division have are on a 10 gain heater
themselves. Let's get to North America's favorite game show. What is the point differential
for the San Jose shot? Of course it's San Jose.

at the game a couple days ago and put a pseudo Vegas fan or a faux Vegas fan through a table.
I'm going to go with 38 minus 38. San Jose played 43 games. I'm going to run right through this

was minus 41. So Alex is closest without going over. It's 41. It's so jarring to go from
baseball where we have massive numbers to then go to hockey where the parity exists even on bad
teams. Yeah. All right. Let's get into TV and stuff. We'll watch this week. Television edition.
I finally finished heels. Okay.
It has been you. And Alex and I talked about this after I watched it and I don't know if it was
just overhyped and I was expecting more. It's a good season finale. I love this show. I want 75,000
seasons of it. But it didn't jar me like I was expecting it to. Does that make sense?
I think you're on to something about the fact and I don't know that it was overhyped
as much as how much came to us over and over again about it. And I still have the firm theory
that with the many times that we were told led to us doing our own fantasy booking of what it
could be and zero percent of me saw how it was going to end. So I still emotionally got hit with
it. But it was good. I'm going to stop there because I almost spoiled more. Yeah.
It was good. I think everybody should watch it. We've been on board since day one.
Now I did catch up on Squid Game and I to give the definitive response on my question from last
week. No, this is not going into season three. They can call it season three. This is the old
school Netflix split. It is a halfway point that lead will lead into the finale. I don't care
what they call it. They can brand it. Whatever they want. It's their show. But this is a definitive
halfway. You will need to watch to get caught up. But it is still very good. Like Don was
alluding to last week. I believe the first season was better. But I think that also had to do
with the matrix effect of the shock and surprise of the initial wave because season two is also
very, very good. But it's missing that unexpected unexpected expectation. Yeah. And I would say that
last week, I wanted to say when you see the end of the season, your question will be answered.
That's all I wanted to say, which it does. At that same time, I didn't want, I didn't want any
information, but I appreciate it. Yeah. What about you? Did you see anything this week? Yeah. Two
things. I did see last Thursday night, the premiere of that going Dutch with Dennis Larry,
who plays the general on with Danny Putin. Yeah. That was, that was pretty funny. I think
I could get into watching that. I recorded it. It comes on. I'll record it. I'm DBR.
The other ones, the day of the jacket on NBC, which is going to peacock. They did the one day
premiere. I think it's going to be on NBC for a while, but we will go into that. So
and we finished the 1923 Yellowstone with Harrison Ford on that. So we're looking forward to that.
But with the Hulu now, we got some stuff we could get into and everything. And as a first
quarter in the ballgame, it's still 0 0 Penn State has the ball third and goal.
Yeah. Did we want to talk about the TGL here or somewhere else by chance? I want to hold off
the TGL till next week because I want to make sure I go into this a little deeper. We're not
going to have a ton of time. What's the TGL? We'll go into it. Talk about it. It's or turn next week.
Don, I want to know what your thoughts are. I don't know if you've seen the trailer yet for the
pit because I feel like this is something you're going to be interested in. Possibly. It's
the medical show that I think it's going to go while he was being built as ER meets 24 because it does
it goes in real time. Okay. I want to hear 24 possibly. And that will be on what network hold
that. It's on Max. Max exclusive. Okay. So I think I'm watching one or two of them. All right.
Okay. Disney Plus has ordered the 90s film from the book Holes to series and they are gender
swapping the lead. Okay. So I mean, I like the film. I heard the book is very popular with the
kids back then. It might still be. I don't know. But if it's going to series, I got something to it.
I every bit of this has missed me. The only reason I know it exists is because it's a common
reference for Shia LeBuff's start. HBO Max has canceled the franchise after one season. This
was a series about a studio that's very MCUE. So there's not a season three of and just like
that, which is the sex in the city update. Patti Lupone will join that cast. So we have a Patti
Lupone reference in this week's episode. And they have officially announced that CES this past weekend
that the last of us will return in April. But they have not given a specific date that I have seen.
I saw rumors of somewhere between 5th and 25th as a leaked date. But I don't know if either of
those is Sunday. And that has always been a Sunday show. Hulu has said that season four of Shorzy
will hit on February 26th. There will be six episodes and has already been renewed for season five.
So we're good there. And their live TV service is merging with Fubo, which now ends the lawsuit
against them for some of their sports coverage. Now it's normal lawsuit. To clarify, Fubo had a great
product. It was just it always felt illegal to use. But we used it for a whole season of red zone
one year. I used it for multiple seasons of red zone. A problem video has said that Harlem will
end with season three. And speaking of season three, season three of a creature will start February 20th.
Yes, it will. I may have to put that on my list. I'm making a list for this year.
Oh, and I may or may not have something regarding that show that I am not allowed to talk about for a while.
Fair enough. Nothing new on TV for DVD and Blu-ray this week. And now let's get into stuff we watch this week.
Movies. And I got a list. So I will wait. I also have a list on playing catch up. But the big one was
actually last night watching a real pain. My policy for this part of it is I'm not going to talk
about any movie that may or may not be in one of my lists. I don't know if mine was updated. I did
not see a confirmation. Okay, then I will save it. You ask me what? But you never said done.
So I will hold off. Basically, for me, it will be the, uh, uh, uh, go to www dot pass podcast.com
or website or website. Don that's a new release and we haven't gotten there yet. I understand that.
That's why, but it's that time. That's the one I'm going to give these to you in alphabetical order
just like I did last week. By the way, my total hit 94. Nice. I did not get the 100. But I don't
know I ever want to again last weekend. I mean, I've, I've, you know, it hasn't been the
slog that I thought it would be, but I really wanted to at least beat last year's number. And I did.
And I'm going to go for 100 this year. Uh, I watched boy kills world over the weekend.
Alex was not wrong on any level. I want H. Con Benjamin to do every narration of anime going forward.
Their point for my wife came out of the bedroom is like, what are you watching? I like this is glorious.
That food. A tray of steak. And as much as I like scars guard, I'm kind of glad they let
somebody else do the narration because it fits better. Yeah, they were like,
but really, really terrible movie, but it is so fun. I think it was terrible. It actually was in
at least my top 20 if not my top 15 this year. Uh, the instigators. I very much enjoyed this film
with Matt Gaming and Casey Affleck. I really enjoyed this film. It's fun. It's exact. It knows
what it needs to be and it is that. Uh, I also watched jackpot exclamation point with John Cena and
Aquafina. I'm sorry. Did anybody else just realized that that rhymed just now? Uh, I laughed until I
stopped. This movie is great. Yeah, I need to watch this. Basically, it takes place in kind of
an alternate feature where Aquafina is a former child star who has to leave LA to take care of her mom
and then comes back to begin actress again. And in Cal if in in LA, they have this lottery. And if
you win it because you have this little card and you scan your win quote unquote, if you win,
you now become a target. And if anybody kills you before the sun goes down, they get the jackpot.
And it's a one time kill as they explain from the open. John Cena. I didn't want to yell it.
Plays a guy that his job is to protect the winner if hired for a percentage of the jackpot
to get them to sundown because you can if you leave the city, you're okay, but you forfeit.
And Aquafina, who mistakenly enters as she's adding audition in $3.2 billion.
And this is a pulp joint. So take that for what you're paying for it. Uh, jury number two.

This is a slot, which I want to say is available on peacock max max. Okay. It's a slog.
What do you mean by that? It's disappointing. It's it's slow. It's an eastwood movie over the last
10 years. It's 12 angry people. Uh, 12 angry, well, are you updating the title on purpose?
Yes. Okay. Just checking because there's people from all different walks of
life. I just wanted to confirm rather than correct. Uh, Jim Henson, I DM man, this is on Disney plus.
Very much enjoyed it. I wouldn't say I learned a lot, but seeing some of the interviews and
Jennifer Carly, how you doing? She's in it. Absolutely. Um, let the canary sing, which is the
documentary about on Paramount Plus about Cindy Lauper. That's right. Very good. Very much
enjoyed that. Learned a lot about her family that I didn't know. And she she does talk about how
the whole rock and wrestling connection thing happened. And the fact that it was really not
supposed to be anything and turned out to be a thing. Um, uh, my spy, the eternal city.
I did. I enjoyed it. It's fun. Okay. It's Batista doing Batista things. And you know,
he's one of our favorites. So, uh, Anna Ferris is in it. Oh, Craig Robinson's in it.
Ken John back. Kristen Shaw was there. It's good cast. And it's it's fun. It's set the Barlow
and have a good time. Uh, I just finished about an hour before we went on air a documentary on YouTube
called Phil Collins drummer first. You were talking about this one before. It's it's it's a two-hour
documentary where he is interview like you see the the director's off camera for most of it.
But the interviewer is his son Nick, who cooored with Genesis and that last tour.
And what's kind of cool is they find his his kit from the from when he was right before he became
the lead singer Genesis when he was drumming full time. They haven't brought in and they set it up
for him to sit behind. And that's kind of neat. And instead of playing the songs,
Nick actually plays the drum tracks just by themselves. Interesting. It's pretty neat. And if you go to
YouTube and you look it up, you can click a link in the description. And it's got a free PDF
of a companion book that goes with it that has behind the scenes photos. And they interview
drummers from everywhere. Like like the guy from pop a roach, two of the guys from Dream Theater
in this mastodons represented sticks. A lot of different drummers talking about him.
Did they get Danny Kerry in there? From tool. No. Okay. Because I want to say years ago, I remember
an interview where Danny Kerry talked him at length about Phil Collins and people were like,
but you're in tool. And he's like, yeah, a guy who can drum and drum. Yeah. And I did not know that
he and Chester Thompson ended on not a good another better now. But apparently I thought Chester
was still with them. And he's not. And apparently that didn't end well on the go. So it's Chester.
Chester Thompson, the guy that played drums for him for years and years and years when he was singing.
Oh, okay. Let's see. We have Rebel Ridge. It's okay. I just, the main thing, the reason I wanted to
watch it was because number one, it's got Roy from the office in it. And number two, this is your
John Stewart. So I really kind of wanted to see how that goes. And, and Don has spoken highly
about this, whether or not it's going to be on his list, we don't know, but Don did mention Rebel Ridge
at multiple instances. I thought it was okay. It was okay. The other John Cena movie I watched
this past week. I did watch Ricky Stenickey. Yes. I don't know what to think of this movie.
I feel about Ricky Stenickey, what I'm going to say about a certain Os based movie when we get to it.
It's fun. Again, set the Barlow. Have a good time with it.
Of the John Cena on stage footage is worth it for the whole film. And do not watch this with the kids.
Do not on any level. Oh, unless you're a big fan of therapy. I did watch Super Slash Man,
the Christopher Reeve story. I liked it. Most of the story is told after the accident.
I did not know how close he and Robin Williams were.
They were roommates in college. I did not know that. And I learned that from the documentary.
So it's very well done. I thought. Oh, so when I said the only reason I give Christopher Reeve any
bearing is because of his college roommate. You did not know what I was referring to.
It's not known at the time. I'm glad I didn't because it was okay. New information to me.
I did not realize that was new for you. That's why I watched Tuesday with Julia Louis-
ORIFIS? No. This is not good. This movie is not good. I really wanted to see this.
It's not good. Oh, that's unfortunate. Like I really, it had potential.
It just never reached it. And it just kind of ends. It's weird. I did watch Wicked Part One.
I will save that particular discussion, but I will say it's not on either of my lists.
And I watched Yacht Rock, a Doc DOCK, you mentoring, the HBO one.
I liked it. I was going to say, do you feel offended or representing?
No, it's a menu piece to the one that used to be on Paramount Plus called sometimes.
It's not there anymore. I think you can rent it from prime.
But learned that Donald Fagan? Not a fan.
Apparently, the director called him and talked to him on the phone.
Because it's amazing what you'll realize is that the number of people that Steely Dan worked with
that are Yacht Rock icons. And there was a wrong one. There was a
your self. And the phone was hung up.
So it's pretty good. It's about an hour and a half. It's done by Bill Simmons' company.
And I like him. Okay. He was at raw Monday night. He was looking rough.
Well, by the way, Penn State's on the board three, nothing. Yes.
Couple of quick headlines. The John Grisham book, the imitation game,
is not going to be called that in the film version because we already have one of those.
It's going to be called the partner and Tom Holland will be starring.
Hey, Tom Holland. That's a good one. And he's doing okay right now.
And quite well. Yeah. As the kids like to say, put a ring on it.
The short king and his tall queen. And we have new casting news for the running man remake.
That Gwen Powell will be in. The Richard about this. Well, the Richard Dawson role has been cast.
That's a tough one. And we're all going to talk about this man here in just a minute.
Coleman Domingo. Oh, I like that. I was like, hold on. You may, you may now have me.
Well, because Richard Dawson is such perfect casting as that role. Basically playing a
some might argue real version of himself, some would argue a scumbag, futuristic version of himself.
But he was, there are very few people that are perfect in their roles.
Richard Dawson in the running man is 1000% perfect cast. Agreed. And execution.
I don't care. Remakes. You know how I hate them. You don't hate all of them. But you don't hate
all of them. Let's be honest. There's a few of my life. You let me eye Don as legal representation. Don
likes to grade on a curve when it comes to remakes, reboots and sequels. This is true.
So for him to like one takes, I wouldn't say an epic amount, but it takes more than a straightforward
movie. What? Speaking of speaking of sequel next Saturday's matinee heroes, I will be
guessing as we talk with the weapon too. Great. That was a great. I'll be talking about matinee heroes
next Saturday. So make sure you check out their podcast. Craig does a great job. And Elizabeth,
the new co-host who I'm a big fan of. She does an amazing job as well. Moving your releases that
come out tomorrow, one that I'm going to be checking out. I haven't decided if I'm going to go see
this at a theater or if I'm going to wait because we didn't get to screen it. Den of thieves to
Pantera. I'm a little mad. We didn't get to screen this by the way. It's two and a half hours long,
dude. I don't care. I don't care. I'm going. Like let's let's let's put it in this context.
The original Den of thieves was our first group outing for with everybody that's on the show
for reviews. Does it really? Yes, it was. It was the first one I was invited to directly.
And remained near the top of my list for that year from January 7th until always.
We also have a documentary about Diane Warren. She is somebody who is,
she's written a lot of songs that you know. Trust me. We also have the last showgirl with
Pamela Anderson. A lot of buzz around that. Her criterion closet videos. Very good.
She is a student of film. And I am here for it.

Alright, let me get the other thing up on the screen here so I know what I'm doing.
And I'm going to have to move you guys to a different screen so I might know where he's
maybe flying all over to place. Well, the question is, do we just need the technical difficulties
and just look at the Katie? Let's see here. Okay, so let me go back to where you boys are,
which is here. Movie boys over here so that I can share my screen.
Because it is time for our annual. Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.
Best and worst of 2024. Now, we only do films because anything is going to just take you
away. So the way this is work, we're doing it a little bit different this year.
Uh, this year, I have actually normally we don't share our list with each other and we just
dive right in. This year, I wanted to make this a little bit more aesthetically pleasing.
So I've put together a slide show because in order to do that, the boys had to send
me their top and bottom tens. So I am the only one that knows everybody's. And I'm going to be
honest, this is going to be a good list to go through. Because we've got, we've got a little more
crossover than we've had in years, but in a really, really good way. Okay. So the way we'll do it,
we're going to go, the first thing we're going to do is we're going to go through the bottom 10.
And for both lists, it will go go from the bottom of your screen up. So it will be done,
then Alex, then me, everybody with me. Yes. All right. Are we ready to dive in?
So ready. The bottom 10, we start with Don's 10 worst film of the year.
I am already going to say put a pin in it. Yeah. Because Don's 10 worst film of the year is
Madam. Well, I will say pen in it. Oh, believe me, we're putting a pen in it. Remember my rant
from a couple months ago. That's all I think Alex's 10 worst film of the year is one that I have not
seen. And then see this on Alex's list. I was very disappointed. Because now I don't want to see
it. It is the Billy Bobby Brown vehicle known as damsel. This is the only Alex is the only one that
has this on either list. It's I had such high hopes because I love Billy Bobby Brown. Netflix has
done some really cool things. This ain't it. It is. Oh, in fact, I had mentioned about 2024 being a
very down year for movies. One of the common threads I have seen through a lot of them is a number
of studios just saying, and we don't have to pay for anything. Just shoot everything in front of a
green screen. It's dreadful. I just disappoints me greatly because I saw the trailer. I was like,
oh, I'm kind of into whoever shot the trailer should have made the whole movie. I was excited
at the trailer. And then you realize, okay, it's interesting for 90 seconds, but for two plus
hours, not so much. I'm going to pull the QR code down here for a minute. I can't. That makes sense.
I don't think you'll let me. I don't know. It will. Good. Yeah. My number 10 worst film of the year,
I think will surprise you. Not because it's on this list, but because it's at number 10.
My 10 is to tell you the direction this is going to go that I have nine worst films than this.
Is Joker foiled you? This was my 11th. It just barely missed it. So I'm not surprised to see it
here for you. This turned into the litmus test. This turned into my of this year's version of
the Art of War with Wesley tonight to confirm we're not putting a pin in this one, right?
We can. No, no, I didn't know if they're up here or anywhere else. That's why I was.
I don't have the full list in front. Yeah. But yeah, this was my Art of War for 2024.
Would I watch this again before I watch that?
Because I actually, we may have abandoned that by the time Alex. Yeah, this is the first I'm
hearing it. So for years, my litmus test by which all things suck was Wesley snipes the Art
of War. Wow. For years, it was the worst film I'd ever seen. That that's surprising. Yeah.
Don's number nine number nine number nine is a saw as a film that I have not seen.
It is not on either one of our lists. Oh, yeah, quite a bit of that this year, by the way,
boys, I like that. Don's number nine is a film called Pool Man. I wanted to see this. Don,
tell me why it sucks. Put it this way. I looked up broad tomatoes is roughly 20% in air talking
major as he's with it. I like Chris Pine. I love Chris Pine. I like the idea of the movie,
but it just fell flat. It did not work. It's just like a release. It's some good acting that
just went kapoot. I put this way. We did not watch any theater or watch done TV.
In the end, we just mean Facebook to each other and go, let's just finish. No, no, this ain't working.
Goodbye. We didn't finish it. That's how bad it is. How far did you make it, though?
Well, by now, we're into it. Our 50. Wow. Yeah. And when Facebook said her and goes, no,
you know, no, you know what I'm saying? It's not good. It's a misfire.
No. All right, Alex is number nine. So sad. So very, very sad.
Is the next movie on my list of movies to watch? But I stopped short because I had already done
my list and I had a feeling it was going to wind up making me redo everything again.
It is currently available on the stars app. It's not even on peacock anymore.
And it is Borderlands. See, this one, I'm actually going to pin in this. Oh, do I?
I believe we are. Yeah. Okay. Then I will wait.
My number nine worst film of the year. And we're definitely going to put a pin in this because
I know somebody else in on this screen. And I'm not going to mention any names, but his initials
are Alex Barnhill. By the way, happy birthday, dad. Yep. This is, I know it's on his list.
And I'll wait until we get to his, his number to talk about it because I've got,
I have a morbid curiosity when it comes to this. That doesn't make me feel better.
It is Rebel Moon part two, the Scargiver. I can't say certain words on this show, let alone yet,
because we're putting a pin in it. For those of you that didn't understand what I meant,
when I saw this, the first one was the sci-fi mega mix.
The very first shot. Look at it. It's the Yamato. It's the Star Blazer. Okay. We'll talk about it in a
minute. Let's go to number eight. Don's number eight worst film of the year. I have not seen this.
I know Don didn't like it when he saw it. I don't remember if Alex saw this.
It is not indicative of one of my leaders.
It is sting.
On the list to see did not actually get to it.
All right, Don.
I'm April. And to give you how bad it is, it actually got the uncovited maze-runner promise in
April. You had a lot of that, especially in the fourth quarter. You definitely said,
I feel like you did that more than 10 times, Don. No, I did. I went through the whole thing,
made sure, you know, to do a double check. But I'm all the maze runs on here,
but this this was so early in the year. It tried to be a horror film. The first hour was just
nothing about these spiders that come from outer space. It tried to be a horror film. And I love
sorry. What? Hold on a second. It just jumped to pass. They're aliens. Yeah, this needs come from
outer space. Yeah. Okay. They tried to mix the horror with the big surprise. I've been sure to say
that it's not the worst. It's not the worst spider movie of 2024. I'm just I'm going to put
that out there. Yeah, but no, no, this this was just like, right? Don't have two spider movies in
this. Yeah, you get what I mean. No, no, it's I love horror films, but this was bad. They tried,
it was a flop. Don't even do it. All right, Alex's number eight.
And a movie that I have a screener for, but it's not my jam. And I read the Wikipedia page,
by the way, touchdown Penn State is now 10 nothing. Just two minutes before the half.
It is the third of the X trilogy. It is Maxine. Do I have to put a pen in this done?
No, it is not okay. So one of the things that I have raved about what the original movie in the
trilogy X is incredibly well done. Pearl, incredibly stylistic, but not nearly as good as X.
Maxine is terrible on every front. It is so so incredibly bad that it loses any charm of the
prior two. And you can what makes it hurt more is you could tell that there was genuine
want to be good. But then there's also a number of actors who maybe saw the first two and we're like,
I like to be able to make a return or an improvement on my career or something by getting into
this. No, no, you just hammered the nail in the coffin. This is terrible.
And this is the end of that trilogy to my knowledge or not.
Thank God. My number eight worst film of the year is one I just watched the other day.
This is one of last year's Oscar winners as a director and best actress. I know what's coming.
It is kinds of kindness from Yorgos Lathamos.
It's like he wanted to direct three episodes of the Twilight Zone and wanted to go as dark as
humanly possible. It's the same handful of actors in all three stories.
There is a tenuous connection with one of them.
Because I was trying to find a thread. I thought he was trying to go for like a pulp fiction kind
of a thing. Yeah. There is one character that you could run through two if not all three.
But this is not good. So was your face like Jesse Plemons while watching this?
Jesse Plemons who really wants to be Matt Damon in this film.
Jesse Plemons wants to be Matt Damon in everything.
I mean, I enjoy his work. He's a phenomenal actor.
But yeah, this is not good.
Don's number seven worst film of the year.
Now let's talk about Borderlands.
Yes.
Okay. Don, allow me to ask a question real or say a statement real quick before you.
I am going to be very interested for Rob to watch this movie as somebody who did not play the
games to see if there is maybe less disappointment and vitriol the way I had.
But the fact that Don has it here and I would venture to say he's never played Borderlands.
Nope.
Does not give me hope.
No, no, I want to put a hope in it.
I mean, this is roughly about a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes in the 10% are like,
yeah, I know it was thing, but still was a little fun is the that's the best
review you're going to get. You have some great cast. Don't get me wrong.
I mean, Lee Curtis, Oscar winner, all that.
But the plot just fell flat. I didn't get the point of it.
That's what that watch with the fantastic paid board.
We're just like, can this thing get over?
Go ahead. It is so incredibly bad.
And the funny part is it's like there is really good people involved.
But you know, there's a movie you get excited about.
When I heard Borderlands was being made, I was like, this is awesome.
The games are already cinematically brilliant.
And then they said in our first casting is Kevin Hart.
And I was like, okay, is he playing clap trap?
They're the same height.
He's playing Roland.
Okay, you need to get the F out.
And somehow it got worse.
Every single step of the way, it just caught more and more terrible,
except for Ariana Green Black. She was great.
She was great as Tiny Tina, Florian Montenoe.
If you played the games, you'd understand how accurate it really was on.
Florian Montenoe as Krieg fits.
But it might as well be just a speaking prop at that point.
But the story sucks.
The cinematics of it looks like they were like,
oh, we have a box truck full of green screen.
But we're going to shoot it and drive around at the same time.
And none of it's going to work.
It's just terrible.
I agree.
All right, Alex is number seven.
And you want to talk about hurt in my heart.
It is the 2024 version of the Crow.
It's I never saw it.
Did you, or did you rub?
No, but this is another one I have a more be curiosity for.
No pun intended.
Yeah, here's one of my big problem with this is.
I am a massive, a massive fan of the original Crow movie.
And to the point of even forgiving ones up to city of angels and salvation,
even though they're not good,
this is boring.
It's boring.
It's terrible.
And I like, look at these kids.
Bill Scarsgard, it might be one of the most dynamic actors on the planet and possibly ever.
And he's completely wasted in this movie.
I mean, he plays Eric Draven, but it's like,
oh my god, why?
Oh my god, we're only an hour in and it's like, honestly, I can't.
It's so dull and just uninteresting.
There are large sections of this movie.
I couldn't explain to you if they weren't, you know,
some semblance of action.
And guess what?
Every single second of action is in the trailer.
You're done there.
Wow.
It's so disappointing.
My seventh worst film of the year, and as I'm looking at my list,
this probably should have fallen even further.
We just, in worse or worse, not it's low.
Okay, worst.
I would, I might even put the next two above this.
But I got to stick with it.
It is the aforementioned memoir of a snail.
You have been very, very clear about your hatred of this.
Just because it's stop-motion animation does not mean it's for the kids.
Hear me.
This goes to some very dark and unnecessary places.
I am so, because I was a little upset
that I, because we, there was like two or three screens in this and I didn't get to go.
And then I was like, all right, I've got to, I've got to link for it, let me watch it.
This is terrible.
I'm so glad I didn't have to sit through this in a theater.
For what you said about it, I'm interesting seeing, because I'm the guy who says,
don't touch the hot stove and I'll touch it, because I'm an idiot for glutton for punishment
once in a while. I will watch this sometime, but with that intent of like, this is going to be bad.
Don, if poor man made you stop, you sit through all of that again before you sit through five
minutes of this. Okay. I'm telling you, it deals with some subject matter that is gratuitous,
and unnecessary. And when I say gratuitous, I mean gratuitous. Okay.
If I walked into your house and you were about to fire this up, I would slap the remote out of
your hand. Okay. Were your own good? That's in a lot when it's in my house. Yeah. Okay.
Don's number six worst film of the year.
And I am looking forward to this discussion, because originally, oh, actually, we may have to put a
pin in this. It is twisters. Wow. Should we put a pin in this? Or should we talk about it now?

Still our website. This one, I didn't get my uncovered, it's maize runner, but it's one I said,
I will not see again. I like the original. I like to point how they try to do it. But there was
so much suspension disbelief. It was not even funny. And it's kind of superhero emotional. They
try to get so much emotion in this thing. And how we got to warn the people about a tornado. So
we're going to leave and go across town and let everybody know a tornado is coming. They would know.
Give me a break. The suspension was bad. The cheap emotion was horrible.
They tried to put some comedy with it and everything else. It was sometimes I'm scared to
seek walls. This was one of the reasons why I did it. Don't see it. Alex, I will say I would like
to give you one quick response before you say anything, Alex. My dyslexia kicked in from your text.
This one stayed. Oh, well, it should be at number 11 on my list. So you can get there. I will give
it the quick response. It's better than the original. Wow. That's an HSO right there, brother.
I thought it was okay. I mean, it's not great. It's a bad. I will clarify. The only reason this is
anywhere near my top 10 is because 2024 might be the worst year for movies I've seen in a very long
time. But I did not take issue that the issues that Don did. I thought it was actually incredibly
well done as far as updates without going overly cheap. Yes, there is a lot of suspension of
disbelief because we know that's going to have to happen in a movie like this. But I thought it
was better than the original. For me, it was 60 out of 94. Yeah. So top two thirds. Now, I will
also clarify I'm willing to bet I saw less movies than everybody else on this panel. But I still,
I was at 53 for the year. Yeah, this, if you take the first 10 minutes out of this film,
it goes a lot higher on my list. That's a valid point. Yeah, the first 10 minutes is a waste of time.
Yeah. Alex is number six. Oh, this is going to be pretty good. It's another one that I haven't seen
and I didn't know what the thing because I know nothing. Really? I hate you so very much right now.
Yeah. It is the beast within boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring in an over saturated
market of werewolf movies in the last six months and continuing on into next year, boring.
All right, like I don't even want to go any further. It's like don't waste the time.
Kit Harrington is still wonderful. He's boring. My number six. And I would swap this with
memoirises of a snail, but the only reason I didn't is because it bored me to tears.
Is the Netflix documentary The Greatest Night in Pop? This is the story of we are the world.
And you were so stoked for this to come out. It's, it's just not great. Do you think it would be
as low on your list if you weren't so hyped up for it?
I expect more out of music documentaries than this gave me. There was interesting parts to it.
But there's also a couple of people in this that don't speak real highly of it that I was like
if it wasn't for this other person that was involved in this, you wouldn't have even been there.
So, it's not great. That was on Netflix, right? Yeah, you said.
Don's number five.
I'm working up with a pin in it that he's laughing is making me uncomfortable.
We're gonna put it in it. Please. I didn't know where I was so should this be two or three or
whatever, right? I had trouble putting two, three and five in order. We'll put a pin in it.
I will say that on my list, this is number 19. Oh, it is Wicked Part One.
I watched it Sunday night in lieu of Sunday Night Football because I needed to watch it and I
knew how long it was and I was in my living room, which was going to be the best presentation of it
in my house. I don't know if we should put a pin in this one yet. Okay?
So, Don, I want you to go ahead and have your time. Okay.
On this one here, this is part one. They can put part half of this film could have been cut out,
half of it. This thing, it bored me so much with a bunch of mindless scenes.
This thing could have been put down to an hour.
Yeah. They they need to put it in intermission into this one. It was a rip off of Wonka,
in my opinion, with the look, the feel, the colors, everything. Yeah, nothing to do with the book.
And people love this. I just hated it. I go, this is part one. I am not going to see part two.
Two hours and 40 minutes. Let me say two hours and 40 minutes. 44.
Yeah. No, it's it's long. It is. But I felt that it was better paced than I thought it would be.
Very much so. Rob, I feel like your and my opinion is what we can put the pin in for a minute.
Okay. Because you had it near the top or above your top, and we know where we're going with this later on.
Okay. We will put a pin in that side of it.
Alex's fifth worst film of the year. Oh, I wanted this to be better.
This was on Netflix, correct? Yes, it was. Code eight, part two with the Amel brothers.
They are not brothers. I thought they were. I believe they are cousins.
With the Amel family, that's better. I was shocked when I saw the first code eight a couple
years ago at how good they made a movie at a lower budget, even though as respectfully as I can
say this, Stevens, the star, Robbie is the support. But code eight flips that. And Robbie does a
really good job. If you ever saw him in upload, he is amazing in upload. He was good in code eight.
Code eight, part two, just is like, oh, people actually like this. We have to make another one. And
it just, it loses all of the charm of the original, has more funding and they definitely
throw it up on the screen. So I will give them that. They didn't cheat anybody there.
But the story, the execution, just not good. I wanted it to be so much better. And it's,
it's just a high school project, but not as good as some of the high school projects we've seen.
My number five.
I'm trying to decide how spoilerific I want to be on this. I'd say be spoilerific if you're trying
to say people. Yeah, please. Love lies bleeding. Oh,
I just did not experience period piece takes place in 89, I believe.
Kristen Stewart works at a gym. The other young lady in this film comes in from out of town.
She wants to be a bodybuilder. Katie O'Brien starts working at the gym.
They get involved with each other. The best part of this movie is Ed Harris and that horrible
hair piece. That's more to this set as a joke. And the director went, oh, no, we're keeping this.
Oh, my God, that's great. I want that on footage.
When you think it can't get more out there, the end of this film says, hold my beer.
I really wanted to see this. The last 10 minutes of this.
I don't know if they just didn't know how to end it.
But when you have the climax of because Ed Harris is Kristen Stewart's father,
who's being also investigated by the government for staff.
And before anybody says anything, that is in the trailer.
Yep. I'm going to spoil this. Oh, no, I'm clarifying that we haven't gotten there yet
in case anybody's trying to thread the needle, right? Because the next piece of the next
the day after I watch this, what culture actually talked about it in a video. Literally the next
day after I watch this. He is bearing down on Kristen Stewart's character to try to kill her before
she kills him. So he's daughter. Correct. Yeah, because she's about to expose all of his misdoings.
We established early in the film that Katie O'Brien's character enjoys the steroids.
Oh, okay. And as she is going to protect Kristen Stewart's character, she injects the steroids,
which then puts her into some kind of royd rage and is now 50 feet tall.
Oh, what? You heard me. So she hulks out, but becomes the 50 foot tall woman then pins down
at Harris's character. Then goes back to normal as they're getting out of town. And another girl
that's killed, they forget is in a body bag in the back of the truck, but may or may not be dead.
So Kristen Stewart pulls her out of the back of the truck in the desert as Katie is asleep.
And puts the bag in the desert and makes sure that the girl is dead and then smokes a cigarette out
of her purse. That's how that really sounds like are we done yet? I was just like what in the name of
God. It's ridiculous. All right. Don's number four.
I almost watched this movie almost. But then I realized it probably violates one of my rules.
And then I saw that it was on Don's list. Real quick, before we get into number four, we are at half
time with Penn State at 10 Notre Dame at three. Yep. It is. I saw the TV glow. Oh, this was on
my list for a long time to watch too, because the great people at A24 are awesome. Yep. But Don,
this is actually shown at the diff. It wasn't not done. I think it was at a midnight showing.
It was. Yeah. This thing here, when you watch the trailer, this is one of those baits and switches,
where I thought it would be something like poltergeist and stuff like that. Basically, it's about
two kids that start up a friendship and from a certain TV show, things start to happen and all
that stuff. But basically, it's a farthest thing from what the trailer show is this horror film
kind of thing like poltergeist. It's a basically coming of age story. That's it. The friendship.
That's it. No more spell this far because you felt it was miss marketed. Yeah. And that
was way too long. And during the scene, so many times during this film, I go, what's the point
of the scene? Again, what's the point of this scene? They just had it was. I put it in my review
that I put something like is this pot as bad as under the skin or not? It cups of what's the
point of this or what's the point of that? It's basically not a cup. So what's the point of this
thing or what's he talking about? It wasn't that bad, but it was close. And this definitely got the
maze runner promise, the uncovited. Go ahead, Alex. I also want to clarify if anybody is joining us
for the first time with our opinion on movies. The only thing Don might hate more than remakes and
reboots is wrong runtimes. There is I don't know that I've ever heard a movie that you enjoyed.
That you didn't even add at them. They could have made it shorter. I don't know that I've ever
heard you watch a movie where you didn't say the words. It could have been shorter. Oh,
put a pin in it. Yeah. Oh, put a pin in it, because I know what's coming. Yeah. Okay.
This this was bad. What's the point of this? What's the point of the scene? What's the point of
this scene? Rob, I would bet. I know you don't bet money, but I would bet a hundred dollars
that if you're watching this in the theater on your watch gauge, it would be under 15 minutes.
Oh, there it is. Not 10. That bad. All right. That's how much I would bet a hundred dollars
you watch gauge honestly would be under 15 minutes. All right. Alex is number four.
Oh, do you want to take a lead on this or me? This is where we're going to talk about Rebel Moon
part two, the Scargiver. Nothing about as bad as the first one was. At least there was some kind
of story. There was no reason for this except we filmed this big battle scene so we have to show it.
It sucked all the way around. And here's the funny part. I actually made an edit
to not count something because the director's cut of Rebel Moon part one was on the first draft
of this list even lower because they made it longer and less clear. And there are director's cuts
for both of them. And I would have to tell Max Snyder to go F himself. And he combined runtime
of over five and a half hours. I should be allowed to waterboard him for that amount of time.
That is where my morbid curiosity comes into play because if anybody tells you to watch this movie,
cut them off immediately. I feel like I need to watch these director's cuts just
to see what did they tell him not to do because his justice lead was awesome for five and a half
hours. I agree. And this was supposed to be his Star Wars film, which obviously I want to see how
hard the decision-makers at Disney laughed when he presented this.
My number four. I'm sorry, Alex, go ahead. It's just so bad. It makes me angry because they sunk
millions and millions of dollars and wasted incredibly talented people's times with these two
absolute steaming piles of poop. I caught myself. I caught myself. I didn't think I was going.
My number four. The original screening of this got snowed out.
And I still went and there was a streamed Q&A with the director. Oh,
afterwards. I still left early because it was running too long. It is problem-y stuff.
And boy, did they try to pump this one up? This is terrible.
It ends with a time jump that is fully unnecessary.
The script is a mess.
Till the Swinton who I very much enjoy is the only good thing about this film. And I don't care
what she tells you, even she struggled with this. I don't know what they movie they were trying
to make, but it wasn't the one that made it onto the screen. I just want to know what they
told the riser to do this. Well, he's not in it for very long, but still third billing.
Name recognition brother. It's time to get to the medal stand.
Don's bronze turkey of the year. It is. Unpin it.
And we may have to pin it. Oh, still pin it. Are we pinning it still? Are we still pinning
it, Alex? No. No, no. Now's the time. Now's the time to get it.
So you're just starting to forge. Yeah, if I can, the first Joker film that I could see
Joaquin Phoenix winning the Oscar, I didn't say it was a travesty of justice on his performance.
But I know we had a different agreement level on the film between me and Rob. And I thought
Rob would be very interested in being the big Batman fan like I am an alien fan.
But when this one came out and I watched it and I saw the trailer, I thought it's going to be like
you watch the Suicide Squad where you have Harley Quinn and the Joker as this team out there doing
chaos. And I watched the trailer and I saw the things them on the stairs and everything like that.
I thought this is the build the friendship and they cause havoc. And that's what the trailer
showed in my opinion is the harvesting from it. That is a, that is might be the most accurate
statement I've ever heard you make about a movie. I have no notes on that Don except for to say,
I very much loved the first one, but I remember distinctly seeing the first one and immediately
telling Rob, I love this. You will hate it. Yeah. And I was right about that one. But the reason
that I am the only one that does not have this on my bottom 10 is because it's my bottom
11. I gave it some credence because there's like three maybe four absolutely brilliant things done
in this excessively long garbage truck backing up of a movie. It's they build a friendship. That's
it. It's not even that. That's the thing. They don't, they don't crap. There's three great scenes.
And they're the ones that don't make sense to what they were trying to do. It was apparently
make it terror. Well, Rob do is stabbing now. Rob go ahead start stabbing. Get, cut. Slick this
road. It is no secret that the first Joker film I almost walked out of.
It's the first time in a very, very long time I've almost walked out of a movie.
This is worse. Yeah.
And then I read the other day that the Lady Gaga passed on wicked for this.
Wait, who is she supposed to be in wicked?
They weren't going to make her Glinda. Yeah, they were. Yeah. Oh my god.
Now granted, Ariana Grande was the right pick. But
the happy Ariana being the only good thing about this film was the one Easter egg
that brought me joy. That's it. Say it. If you missed it and I must say and go back and watch
the movie. But if you missed it, when they show the long shot of Arkham from outside the gates,
the outline of the driveway and up to the buildings of Arkham is the Bat symbol.
I didn't know that. I caught it. I had to catch that either. I caught it right away
in the scene where they're trying to escape. The fact that it basically ends with Todd Phillips giving
the camera the finger. Yes. On top of everything. It just. Yeah. Yeah.
That's my golden church. I mean, my bronze church. Alex brings to the table a movie that for me
barely missed my top or by bottom 10. This is at number 77 for me. How far off of the, does that
put you? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Okay. So it was 17 from the bottom for you. Yep. Okay. It is back
to Blackbeard by one Amy Winehouse. I hate this movie. I hate it so very much. It's so bad. It's like
the entire thing is, oh, we're going to make a movie about Amy Winehouse because people liked her
music. And the entire thing might have just had a stamp of made by the ex-husband who convinced her
to kill herself because we're trying to make this guy look good and her dad. And her dad.
And her dad. And her dad. I'm glad I didn't watch the documentary until after I watched this
because I watched the documentary and I was like, this is all wrong. Yeah. Yeah. It's terrible.
There are chunks of that story that are purposely left out or outright done differently to make
other less, I don't know, culpable. Yeah. Terrible. It is so bad. And I'm very good at what makes
me angry. She is very good at it. She is very good at it. She is very good in this. She,
she does well. I wouldn't say she's great. I think it's caught up in the fact that she looks
very much like her, but it's not good. And it's terrible. I will give it the scene where she
wins the Grammy. That's dead on. They did a great job with that where she did the side-by-side
of splitting in the footage too. Fantastic work on that. But yeah, this was in my bottom 10 for a
long time. Yeah. My number three. You're actually going to see this one back to back.
Oh, this is my number three and Don's number two. It is the underdogs. So I'm just going to go
ahead and go to the next slide because it's not number two because they're back to back slides.
It's not that this is a, I feel bad for calling this the second worst film of the year
because it really is a modern day telling of the bad news bears. It really is.
I just, I love it. And it's Mike Epps.
It's just not good. I just love how on the poster, Snoop Dogg's literally holding the warning
for why it's R. And there's so many people that complained about those exact things like they
knew what was coming. It's, it breaks my heart that it's on my list because I love this movie,
dog dog. I'm a big fan. The guy lives his best life. But yeah, no. I think if I had to re-evaluate,
I might move this up a little bit. But it's just kind of where it wound up. But we're at Don
Silver Turkey. So I want to hear this. Yeah. If I can, when I did my review, I put on here that
this film, I know it's January, but it gets my uncovered major under promise. I did that in
January on this film. Yep. This was a January release. You are correct, sir. Yes, it was.
It was a, tried to do a remake of the Mighty Ducks that Disney would never touch. It got,
it's R rating within about 10 seconds due to the profanity. And it's just a curse fest.
And it's, I know he's done so much for the Pee Wee and all that stuff. But what I've given real
life, congratulations. But the swearing and the total lack respect where the kids start swearing,
sailors and stuff like that. That's not what kids football should be about. Or it's the
upward every 20 seconds. It got, yeah, it seemed funny up front for the first two minutes if
that. But then after that, it just got stupid. What's the point of the up bomb? You know, I hated
it. I walked out saying that this thing is not what kids should be even watching and all that
stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's great at our Don. Yeah. I mean, if you're showing this to kids,
just like Alex said, it's right there on front street. I know. Not even at the bottom of the
one sheet. It's right here in the middle of a picture. But oh, we could say F bomb 20. It's
worse than that South Park evidence episode where they did the S word and they counted it
the how many times they said the S word. Yeah, imagine how the F thing, you know, I'm saying
that's what the point is, you know, all right. Alex is number two worst film of the year.
And I'm not shocked because he and I talked about this at length.
The fact that it is the how the very vehicle never let go. It sucks. It sucks in every
every way. Anybody that says that there's anything redeeming about this should have every bit
of their opinions revoked. It's this was literally number one. And I thought it was cemented.
I thought it was cemented. And then I saw something two days ago.
I saw something two days ago. But this, this is the worst movie of 2024 that I made it to the end
of. And I want to punch everyone involved. And it's a good thing. I'm a midget because then I can
punch the children in the face too for being in this because every bit of it sucks. And everybody
who's involved should lose their jobs. I read the Wikipedia page for this and was like,
what in the name of all things good and holiest going on here? I honestly feel like they also
multiple times lost the script and had to be us their way through parts of it. And then they
just decided to stick with the BS for the end of the movie. It's so bad. I hate everyone who made
this. I genuinely do. You know, you say my car should be revoked? Yes, 100% right now. I feel
like everybody who has anything positive to say about this goes right before right below Jennifer
Lopez on people who I despise. I would say this that the acting by the two kids of Jenkins and
no one was really good for their age. And I respectfully disagree. Okay. Oh, very large margin.
I have seen death kids put on a better performance in middle school than those two little turds did.
That's the honest. I am. Oh, no, I am answering myself. Yeah, I number two worst film of the year.
I think was done better by my number 18 film of the year.
You've had it. It is the two years to row. It is the beekeeper.
I like this movie. I like this movie. When this movie ended, I said, if this movie is made in 1987,
it makes a billion dollars. And I feel like that's when the script was originally written,
and they just found it, and they updated it.
Phelma does a better job than this film does with this storyline. I'm not going to lie.
I think you're 100% right about the script. And I loved it. I genuinely enjoyed the beekeeper.
I just, I was like, I spent my whole time just shaking my head. And I love Statham.
I'm okay with suspension of disbelief, but there is no way in hell. You can, you can make me
suspend my disbelief enough to believe that that's what those call centers were like.
That's all I'm saying.
The bird act to this. Kind of fun. A couple of unnecessary swerves.
But it's just too much. I have a question, but I'll hold it if done. You want to jump in on
anything. I have to say that. I'd love the action. And I love the fact that they went to the thing
and did the, uh, and destroyed the, uh, office of the scammers, but, you know, it's what I expected
with them. But it wouldn't be that bad for me. But, you know, I, I can see your points.
So Rob, we have multiple times referred to a show known as How did this get made?
Yep. On this. One of my favorites. Did you watch the movie before, after or both?
Oh, well, this had a screening and they did that episode happen like two months ago.
Okay. I did not know if you had gone back to it afterwards because I will tell you,
I did not watch it until after that episode. And it made things that probably would have
bothered me infinitely more fun. Things like, I wonder if that's the gist. Things like
things like, why is there a link in the middle of the ceiling that we're not referring to?
Why is there balloons? Why is there a bucket? How did that guy screw five after he did that?
All right, boys, before we get to your number one worst films of the year and we are running long
tonight, kids get used to it. Yeah. Uh, any honorable, dishonorable mentions you want to put out
there? Not for me, not really, no. No, like I said, it was a bad year for movies. So just about
anything could be argued for the bottom. Anything I want to give extra credence to, I want to do
on the positive side. Okay. For me, I'm going to give you a couple trigger warning with Jessica
Alba on Netflix. That's atrocious. Uh, Janet planet. As much as I love Juliet Nicholson,
terrible film. It reminded me a lot of that Miss America film that Greta Gerwig did.
The acting is flat. There's no point. And of, I think that's all I'm going to use because
let's just get to the number ones because two of the three are the same. And the one that isn't
is Don's because we already covered it. Don's worst film of the year. And I want to go back to
some of you said a little while ago, Alex. I don't care. So one thing Don don't like. It's long
movies. Oh, I feel like I can guess what it is now. And Francis Ford Coppola says, oh my beer.
It is Megalopolis. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait. Don,
may I tell the story of your night at the screening before you begin? Yeah. Go ahead. So Don and I
were screening two different movies. Interestingly enough, the movie I was screening is in my top five,
which means we're going to talk about it later. I left the screening and ran into Don outside
of the theater who was looking like he wanted to punch a baby on the way to the bathroom.
And I said, how much longer do you have? And he said, I don't know. We started with like a 45-minute
video from Coppola. So we're barely into the movie. Go ahead. I'm going to let Don talk because
I know the story, but I want to make one observation. I need to step away in a minute. Okay. All right. So,
in fact, I'm going to mute myself. Okay. On this film here, it's a mix of like Julius Caesar meets
the Hunger Games meets Moulin Rouge, where it's really weird society and stuff like that futuristic.
And I love Coppola. But this was trying to make a political statement. It was pure, what I call
pure Oscar bait to say the least, where they're trying to get the people in there and all that.
Coppola and all that. But it was trying to, in the end, basically just make a political statement
in the end. It was two hours and 15 minutes. It was really weird. It was in the weirdness of like,
I'm getting it, not of cups. In this, it was what's the point of this film? Don't like your
think what I said about this film was that was cameos. It was so weird. What's the point of this?
And our could have been easily cut out of the thing. Oh my god.
Put this weight. When I made this film, when I made my review, I said that
this one right now is you're running from my golden turkey of the year and it hasn't lost it
and it won it. It was charged in 15 minutes enough, just a plaque, political struggle.
And what's the point of this? What's the point of that?
I the level of anger and fury in your eyes when I saw you during the screening.
I it was genuinely like I felt bad. I will neither confirm nor did I. I laughed in the car
the entire way home. Grateful that it wasn't me because I said you'll have to movie could have been
cut out and I'd still get the same thing. And my observation to clarify, is that Lawrence
Fishburn in the middle of the poster? I can't remember. I think it might be.
My I know he's holding a backpack, but I think on purpose they did that. So it makes it look like
he's holding a lightsaber. Just saying. All right. This is another one where if I'm not mistaken
and I am not, I'm just going to go straight to mine because Alex is in minor. The same
it is Madame Webb. What an absolutely cinematic turd this film is to everybody who
got this going. I hope you sit on a two by four the long way. I hope it actually destroys your
insides. I within 15 minutes started screaming F you F this F that I hate everyone. I started
fighting with Sean. I was so mad at Madame Webb. I oh, oh, I could not hate enough things
that Madame Webb existed. I watched this on a plane on my phone and the screen was still too big.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Can somebody write that down? That's the t-shirt. That is the t-shirt of the episode.
Like putting them in the suits in the trailer and that's about all you get of them in the suits
because it never technically happens because it's a flash forward. Oh, but it happens at 15
minutes and then you realize it's a big F you. Oh, and even Dakota Johnson's like I don't even know
like we were just acted in front of a green screen all the time. I don't know what came out of it.
And did you notice the error at the very beginning or not the very beginning but when we are
first introduced to Dakota Jones. I am really blocking this film out. Oh, yeah. So it cuts inside
the ambulance, outside the ambulance, inside the ambulance and Adam Scott is never in the same
place nor is he doing the same thing. And then they said his name and I threw a remote so hard
against the wall. I have to fix it. Oh, I knew that going in for fortunately for me. I'm
not going in. I knew about it, but I was hoping it was just somebody messing with me. I genuinely
was hoping it was somebody messing with me because I did not pay attention to how to just get made
on this one. What a turd. Oh, my God. I mean, we're all three of us have it on the same list.
Although it's in place, it's on the same list. Comparably. I mean,
that's when it's all that's the only film that we all have at the list this year. Yep.
Just about. Yeah. And I will clarify. Don winds up seeing way more movies than we do.
Time availability, whatever you want to call it. So if you look at it by percentage wise,
we all had it about at the same level. Yeah. All right, let's get into our top 10 starting with
Don's number 10. I can't I'm right now. I'm just going to watch Alex
because I need to see his reaction. So do I do I do I have you myself? You might want a
mutual mic for just a moment. Don's 10th favorite film of the year is Craven the Hunter.
You got to quit because we are in time. Basically, it was just the new different form of a superhero film
where it wasn't much of a mindless action. And it had good relationships. It was realistic.
It was a breathless fresh air. I go, this is one of the newest good storytelling, not a mindless bunch
of junk superhero film. Realistic. I enjoyed it. I haven't seen my number 10. I I like hearing that Don.
I actually like hearing that. I want to see this. I've been excited for Craven. Yeah, I have not seen
it yet. I'm setting the bar low. That's all. Oh no, this is one of those I don't I'm not looking
at it from an aesthetic standpoint entertain me. Alex's number 10
was on Don's other list. It is twisters. Now actually this is 11. This should have been 11.
And I maintain my prior statement. I loved it. What my 10 should be. Is it an animated movie
that wound up getting bumped to 11 on what you have, Rob? Yeah. And that's that's on me. And
it is. Is it on your top 10? It is not. It's for me. That girl is at 23. Okay. I want to clarify.
Transformers one is gorgeous. It is amazing. It checks all the right boxes. It has the power.
It has the touch. And I mad that we're not getting more of them. But you should see it on Paramount
Plus. It is delightful. Touchdown Notre Dame. My number 10 is we're going to put opinion
it because I know it's on Alex's list. Okay. One of the most underrated films of the year in my
opinion, it is the ministry of ungentlemanly warfare. We'll talk about it in the minute because
it's also on Alex's list. Let's get into number nine. Don's number nine. Number nine,
which for me is number 16 for me. A movie that I think got a real bum rap by a lot of people
and they can all go pound sand because I enjoyed our guy. Yeah. This was for me. Yeah. Yeah. It was
when I watched it. It was at the top of the year for me when I watched it when I made my review
which was hold on in February. Yeah, I was going to say that was early on. That was the Q1. Yeah.
Yeah. And that's a good chance of making it the top 10 years. It's a lot of fun on it.
Basically, two hours and 29 longs of my dip seemed like it. It ran through fast.
You kept me interested. Accency components were done well. Edding was good.
The comedic moments were a good mix with the series, especially with bonds, doing something
different. If you like to hit men's bodyguard, I think you'd like it. Great summary.
Selma Hayek is my spirit animal. I really did. And the cat was great. Yeah, the cat.
Alex is number nine. We're going to put a pin in it because it's on my list, too. It is
monkey. I figured that was the case. My number nine is not on either of y'all's lists.
And I am unabashedly a fan of this film. And anybody that wants to run their mouth don't
at me because I don't care. I love the fall guy. I don't have the fall guy very low. It's
13 on my list. I did not have the huge jump that many people I heard did. But Rob, go for it.
I love this movie. It's not meant to be a movie version of the TV show. There's enough homage
to it that it works. Sit through the credits. But Ryan Gosling gets it. His last two big roles
being Ken and this. He's at the point in his life where he's okay with self-deprecation.
Jason Momoa. I'm talking to you as well. This movie is fun. And it's meant to be fun. It's not
meant to be socially conscious. It's not meant to be an Oscar darling. It's just a fun way to
spend a couple of hours. And it took a lot of hate that I thought was unnecessary. I didn't love it.
I didn't love it. But I didn't hate it. But I like the ingenuity behind it. And I can see
where there's some good fun with it. You know, I feel like the only reason it missed me was because
there were references that I'm not old enough for. You're not wrong. But the Taylor Swift stuff
alone. And they what they do with the truck. Don's number eight.
Put a pin in it. It is. It is civil war. Put a pin in it.
Put a pin in it.
Number eight was on Don's list. It is wicked part one.
Okay. So here's where I have to clarify. Making these lists at the end of the year
is some craft, some magic, and some just absolute. I don't know if my baseline of sobriety
is either too sober for wicked or not high enough or vice versa.
But it's a really well made movie. There's a lot of scenes like Don said that elongate it.
But I understand the purpose for those. And part of the reason why it is on my top 10, even though
I'm going to stay full disclosure. I don't like the Wizard of Oz. I'm not even a huge fan of
the wicked story, but their execution, the performances by Arrivo and Grande are just
masterful. But what really caught me was looking at those longer musical numbers,
or just numbers that wound up extending the movie, the choreography is staggeringly amazing.
And I'm interested to see part two, even though this is an incredibly long movie.
And I felt like it stuck and moved in a lot of places where it could have gotten bogged down more.
So while I'm not saying it's a masterpiece or the greatest thing that's ever happened
at some app, it's a very good movie. And if this is your niche, they nailed it.
And by the way, the sequel is now being called wicked colon for good.
Because John Chiu doesn't want a part two.
I have changed my criteria over the years. Visually gorgeous.
Performance is the fact that they performed the music live on set, outstanding.
From an enjoyment factor, this is number 19 for me, but I'm also not a Wizard of Oz guy.
I've seen the musical. It's going to be what it's going to be.
I don't know what that can one because I thought the performances were good.
Again, great visual effects, but it's not going to be high on my list.
And we figured it out before we got to wicked though.
Wizard of Oz for me is what it's a wonderful life is for you, Rob.
I did like what they did with the universal logo in the beginning.
That was really cool.
And there was with the opening credit.
Yeah.
And there's some good some in that opening sequence that I really dug.
But you know, it wasn't terrible.
It's not earth chattering, but it's okay, it's good.
All right, let's get into my number eight because my number eight is the same as Don's.
It is civil war.
I was not expecting this film to be as good as it was.
I was worried going in, but it is a good movie.
I purposely avoided it in the theater because I didn't want to deal with what I thought
was going to come with it.
You and me, Bo.
Kirsten Dunst is a force of nature.
It was that day that I found out she was married to Jesse Plyments.
I like how Garland crafts the story.
So that you, he never quite says these people are good and these people are evil.
He leaves it up to the viewer to determine who the good people and this is one I don't want to spoil
because I really feel like this is a film people need to see and make their own judgments for.
Yeah.
That is an excellent way to put it.
And there's some, I know we're not a political show and I'm not going to get political on this,
but there's some events of, you know, current time, which really reflecting this film very well,
I'd say.
Well, I had to release this in an election year.
It was very true.
Yeah.
84 knows what they're doing.

Number seven for Don.
Not shocked.
No, not going to see it, but not shocked.
Don's seventh favorite film of the year is The Substance.
I was expecting something else.
Don, go for it.
Yeah, play a simple Debbie Morton deserves the Oscar.
She got the Golden Globe.
She deserves her Oscar with this role.
I can say right now she deserves the Oscar.
It's, it's a, the movie is kind of weird.
And again, there's some graphic in this and a lot of nudity, stuff like that.
So be warned.
It's not the feel good for the movie of the year, but the plot was good,
but her acting is incredible.
She deserves the Oscar.
That's why it's getting number seven.
I like how dogs giving us like the PG.
And I'm just looking at the poster.
Yeah.

Where are your PG show here?

But what I'm saying is, look at the tag line.

I thought we're going to say Jim or Randall Park,

Honestly, I really liked it.
It didn't make my top 10, but I could see why it is.

Anything on that point, you know, there's just a couple of,
especially in the third act, there's a couple of really great moments
that just man right in the fields, bro.

But opposites, they're going to put a pin in it
because it is furiosa, a mad Maxaka.

I was shocked that it didn't get the golden glow,
but I am intrigued by the film that did.
It is the wild robot.
It's no wonderful.
It is one of, if not the best animated movie I have seen in,
we're not putting a pin in it.

So the funny thing is, part of the reason I was so happy
was this was the screening I was in,
well done with it make a lot more like so.
It is so delightfully brilliant.
It is kid friendly while dancing just close enough
to real true world stuff to be more.
I don't want to say mature because that gives the wrong impression.
But more dealing with things that happen in life
that children don't understand or different concepts with it.
If you have any heart whatsoever,
you absolutely need to see wild robot.
It is, it is a special movie.
It is impressive.
It is excellent and I cannot wait for more of them.
All right.
My number six film of the year put a pin in it.
Better man because I'm pretty sure it's on somebody else's list.
So I haven't seen it.
So no, no, it's not you can talk about it.
This isn't on your list.
I thought it was me.
Yeah, I thought this was on your list too.

I had a list before.
Oh, that's right.
This film, it is, it is the story of Robbie Williams.
It is, believe the hype.
I really want to see this.
This guy has a story.
And now after a friend of the show, Tracey Mangum,
alerted me to the documentary series on it.
I will be watching that.
Hopefully before it goes away.
People in America, most people in America wouldn't know,
they may not love his solo stuff because Millennium was a big song for him.
He was in a boy band called Take That.
That was huge everywhere else.
You can definitely tell right off the bat he has no love for Gary Barlow.
But it's a very well done film.
The fact that Robbie Williams attended every premiere
with the director, no matter where it was in the world.
Wow.
And it got a nine minute standing ovation at one of the festivals.
Very cool.
See this film.
It's really, really good.
We're into the top half now.
Don's number five.

We'll talk about it based on certain things I've said.
I feel like that might be a middle stand discussion.
Alex is number five.
Oddly enough, is my number five.
That is three movies that at least two of us have matched on in this show.
I'm going to make a statement that clarifies my other aspect to this.
This was not as feel good as some of the other ones.
It is a delicate balance between a quality picture,
different aspects that really elevate a film along with enjoyment.
And I will clarify that I started sobbing about 14 minutes into this film
and did not stop for a solid hour afterwards.
I literally had to stop it and
at one point I had to stop it and walk into the other room.
It was that.
Much, but it is a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful movie.
I saw this in a theater out of screening.
Somebody put Jesse Eisenberg on a bazillion dollar deal with a studio
because all this kid does is right and direct absolute greatness.
There is an intensity to this film
that happens because of a milestone that this film is the first to do.
And somebody asked me if I felt weird watching somebody who is exactly like me on screen.
It is.
This film is fantastic.
And one person that people aren't talking about enough in this,
Jennifer Gray is very, very good in this too.
He's awesome.
And here at the funny part of this, I realized who it was about 30 to 40 minutes in.
I looked at Sean, whose favorite movie of all time happened to be another Jennifer Gray picture.
And I said, when I tell you who this is, it's going to break your brain.
So, so wonderful.
I always think she did a sitcom in the 90s where she played herself.
And in one of the first episodes, people are like, I recognize you,
something's different and she was trying to dance around it.
And then she just goes, no, it's job.
Okay, no, it's job.
But yeah, a real pain is.
So like there's just no other way to say it is so good on every level.
And Karen Culkin absolutely deserves that award.
Yep, absolutely.
He is both of them are great.
Eisenberg wrote and directed as well.
This film is fantastic.
Don's number four.
I have at
where did I put it?
27 on my list.
It is Superman, the Christopher Reeve, sorry, apologies, I spelled that wrong.
Christopher Reeve story.
I was typing very fast.
I missed the press screening, but I got to see it on some of my HBO.
I remember I watched it on Max.
Okay.
And there was a lot of hype about it.
And then when I saw it, I'm like, I could see why.
And I saw why.
And you learned so much about that guy and what he went through.
He's more than just the Superman hero now that I know from the movies from the 80s and stuff.
He was a real Superman in real life.
And it doesn't touch you inside.
And you know, you want to have emotions in my opinion.
There we go.
The only thing I will say, Alex, is you mentioned something to me about the opening of creature
commandos.
I had my head turned when this started.
And I'm wondering if it's that same intro that they're using for this.
Because this is a DC Studios film.
Oh, the original Superman chest break.
Yeah, I haven't I had my head turned.
So I don't know what it was, but they could have used it for this because it was really
slate in the year.
Alex's number four film of the year.
Is my number 10?
It is the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
Man, this is a good flick.
Rob, go right ahead.
It's a lot of people.
And rightfully so,
want to compare this to inglorious bastards, but it's not that.
It to me, it's more magnificent seven than it is anything else.
But everybody involved in this film is great.
The actions great.
The twists and turns are a lot of fun.
Just the whole operation of them trying to get a hold of this ship.
That's the key to the war.
And the way it unfolds is wonderful.
This is a great popcorn flick that you can sit down with on a cold winter's night
and just have a blast with.
I love this movie.
So it is so much fun on its own.
But the biggest thing to it, yes, there is a bias in there based on acquaintances.
But at that same time, what I had said, even when this movie first came out,
was I am so impressed with how Guy Ritchie made a spaghetti western out of a World War II naval
picture. Yep.
And nailed the landing on all fronts.
It's so good on so many levels and getting Tilshfeiger to play a bad guy as the evil German is just
head and shoulders above everything.
Nobody misses the mark in this entire picture.
There's a reason I bought it before it was available.
And I have watched it six times already.
I love it.
I can see why people doing glorious bastards thing.
But me and it's still something different in my opinion because I love
and glorious bastards.
It is different and stuff like that.
And it did make my top 10 know.
But does it get an honorable for me?
Yeah, it does.
Absolutely.
My number four.
Put a pin in it.
Because we're going to talk about it here.
Oh, is it even higher?
Um, yeah, because Don's number three.
There it is.
It's not that.
Oh, never mind.
Is this heritage?
Yep.
That's an excellent choice.
Yeah, that that actually wound up at 23 for me.
Yeah, I woke a pdf page on this and was very confused.
I could imagine.
It's not something that's easy to explain.
Don, it's your.
Basically, this guy, there's some missionaries that, um, you know,
from the Latter-day Saints who not kind of who are there to have
appointment to talk to him.
And he seems to, but as soon as they get in the house,
things seem a little weird.
Hugh Grant has done some great comedy.
He's done the whole spectrum, but him plan is he the level of psycho
of of he's later in Joker.
I mean, in the dark night.
No, is he handle, you know,
have a lecture by Anthony Hopkins.
No, but when I think, when I watched him,
I'm like, you thought of those people and their performances
want to watch him on this.
Does he deserve the best actor?
Yes, he does in my opinion.
He deserves the best actor in this.
He played the perfect psychopath who gives this seem
cool, common, collected, like the great serial killer.
But as thing goes on, watch out.
Go ahead.
I do want to take one quick issue with what you're saying done.
Because I don't consider him a psychopath in this.
I don't, I think the whole baseline behind this is
who is the real heretic and is it a matter of perspective?
And I thought I'd get an amazing job with that kind of angle with it.
Yeah, because you are, we're definitively set up with the good versus
evil at the start.
And then there's the whole concept of everything building to questions.
Like what really matters?
What is the truth?
What isn't the truth?
What is just for show?
What's the naughty show?
And the way they do it is this infinite tangled web.
And it's a really good movie.
Yeah.
And Hugh Grant in the last two years is having a career renaissance.
That is fantastic.
Do you think if let me ask you this off, does he deserve an Oscar nomination?
At least, Alex, I would have a hard time not nominating it.
I can, I can roll with you on that.
But I would say that if there's five nominees, he's closer to four or five for me.
But I don't, I would really have to think about it because I did
for our North Texas film critics.
I do believe I did put him up for best actor,
but I don't believe I voted for him because I don't know if he made it through it.
Alex's bronze medal for the year is my number 11.
Okay.
It is Deadpool Wolverine.
It's just so fun.
It's so brilliantly done.
And the part that gets me with it the most is it's a Deadpool movie.
Unquestionably.
And nobody told Hugh Jackman really because that dude is going for it.
It is, if you took him doing the gravitas of Logan
in a Deadpool movie and then made it just so much fun throughout,
I feel like I'm going to be quoting this movie and watching this movie longer than anything
else in the last few years.
And I just, I love it.
This is one of those ones.
Like, yeah, you can get on me because it's like, oh, well, it's not something that the
academy would go for or it's not anything like, well, I had fun.
You have fun with your stuff.
My bronze medal for the year.
Let's talk about Monkey Man.
Oh, I did not realize you had it this high.
You were very, very early.
It's, it's just enough John Wick to be, you get the comparison,
but it's just enough not John Wick to not be John Wick.
This plays out like a graphic novel.
And a lot of times it looks it too.
Yeah.
Dev Patel does an amazing job with this film.
And we lost Alex.
Get him back.
But I absolutely love this movie on every level.
I don't want them to do a sequel.
I think it ends fine.
There's Alex.
We lost him for a second.
We're back.
All right.
I got so excited.
I hit a button.
There's been talk of them doing another one.
I don't want another one.
Leave this where it is.
Leave this sitting where it lies.
I can understand the idea of a sequel.
But I feel like this story is done.
So if there is a parallel or a comparable story,
I could see rolling with that.
And use the unexpected friend talking about his scooter,
Nicki Minaj, as your connective tissue.
That's right.
And I think that if you did do another one of its
look within its universe,
do like you're doing with ballerina.
Do it with her exit.
Oh, that's a great idea.
And I'm so ready for ballerina.
I want to go to the right now.
But yeah, Don's Nicki Minaj is awesome.
Don's silver medal of the year.
Talk about it.
Let's talk about it.
It is conclusive.
This film.
I have not talked to a single person that I have recommended this film to.
That has not been Rob.
I'm never not trusting one of your recommendations again.
This, this movie does not disappoint.
And I said this on Matt and the heroes.
I don't know if it's going to make the show or not.
But Isabella Rossalini should get an Academy Award
nomination with one of the most limited roles in that category ever.
She, in less than 10 minutes of screen time,
almost steals this film.
Yep.
There are parts where it's shot like a documentary.
There are parts where it's shot like I'm watching a stage production.
You think it's one thing and then it turns into another thing
and then it turns into another thing.
And then you get to the end and you go, okay, all bets are off now.
Yeah.
And there is the interesting thing with this one is also it is so well acted,
so well structured that it doesn't need much or really any action to happen
to have you in the palm of its hand.
The action in the dialogue, that's the beauty of it.
It is and I, when I was watching it with Sean,
I believe I said the words.
This movie might as well just be described as verbal fencing
because it is absolute masters going back and forth.
It's so incredibly well done.
And the problem I had for only a moment is because
you know, when you hear somebody for the first time in a particular role
and your brain goes there initially, that's me with Isabella Rossellini.
I always hear death becomes her in my head and it takes a few minutes.
So I almost miss like a third of her appearance.
But then in the other seven minutes, she jumps in and is absolutely my pick
for best supporting actress and the tooch.
I think the tooch can do no wrong.
He's got the tooch and the power.
No.
I have the buttons.
I know you do.
Not anything you want to add in this discussion.
Yeah, put it in.
I saw I was impressed with the acting everything.
I can see this is Oscar bait, but this is deserved Oscar bait.
And I said in my review that it's the kind of film that is Oscar bait,
but doesn't feel like Oscar bait.
It just feels like it's just naturally, it gets best
patrol.
Not surprised me.
Not at all.
None of us know.
So that would be and that would be mad.
That would be mad.
Alex is silver medal.
For me.
Probably pretty low.
Number 40.
So right in the middle.
Not as low as I thought you were going to put it.
So the thing with Dune part two, we just talked about concave
with all of the verbal sparring and not really needing to do much on the page.
Dune part two is pretty much the polar opposite in that.
In it is Denny Villeneuve doing as Rob would put it,
Denny Villeneuve things and doing these grandiose appearance,
building this world continuing on adding the level with Florence Pugh and the royalty
further.
And it's just really well done.
It is long.
There is a lot to it.
And I do dig what they had done with the narrative as far as kind of shifting it on you.
But man, is it a good, good picture?
I really, really enjoy it.
But it is one of the most stunning, visually appealing films I've ever seen.
And we are getting Dune Messiah.
Absolutely.
I have not heard Dune prophecy in case anybody's wondering after that.
I haven't either.
Chalamet is a force of nature in this,
but not like Austin Butler is.
Oh God, this might be my favorite Austin Butler movie.
When I read that he studied Scarsgard and nobody knew he was going to do even with the cadence
until he showed up on set the first day,
like this was really well done.
And I'm looking forward to Dune Messiah.
Yeah, I'm not afraid to say it.
My number two, let's talk about it.
Number two.
Singsing.
There it is.
Give Coleman Domingo all of the things.
I don't want to go too deep into the film because
when I saw it, the cinematographer and one of the producers was there
with James Faust and they did an interview.
Go into this film only knowing that it is the true story of a group of guys
in Singsing prison that form a theater group.
That's it.
Because by the time you get to the end of this film,
it does something that made me almost stand up and cheer.
Hmm.
This film is so good and so well done.
And just fantastic.
Criminally underrated, it should have gotten a wider release to get to a wider audience.
Because
it's just
it blew that well.
Yeah, very emotional into it.
I want to clarify the fact that both of you have this on your highest.
I have not seen this yet.
But it is going closer to that.
I was able to see it through that screener DVD we got.
So I wanted to use the studio for that on that.
That's I was able to watch it because I wasn't able to see the thing that originally.
So we got that in Rob saying you need to see it.
Now watch it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So.
In a way out.
Have you seen it?
I literally just said that it's on both of yours.
It goes higher on my list that I have not seen.

In a world where this and con claver released in the same year.
Brother.
Two of the best films I've seen in the last five years.
I mean, and it's just this.
I couldn't get this film out of my head for days afterwards.
It's just and not from a in a bad way.
It's like it's just so good that I just couldn't stop just.

This is fantastic.
Any honorable mentions before we get to the winners?
I had a homework assignment.
I went back and watched Gladiator 2 again.
I did not have nearly as many issues as not writing a review for it as I did the next time.
So it actually came up higher, which is why it just missed my top 10.
Touchdown Notre Dame.
They now have the lead.
Honorable mentions for me that we haven't already talked about Lisa Frankenstein.

And one of the best uses of Enter Sandman ever.
Oh Jim Hall, but I'm scared to see because you know I'm a cherry makes.
But Don, it's not really not a remake.
It's a spiritual reimagining.

This is the story of ABC News that was trying to cover both the Munich Olympics
and the hostage situation at the same time live.
This looks fantastic.
I wish I could have been to a screening.
This is on my list of films to see.

This is one where you know what?
If I had one fault with it, this is a point from Alex earlier where Rob said put a pin in it.
If there's one fault with this film, it's too short.
It's too short.

That's a fault.
I don't think I'm smart.
I know things.
I know it, it you sit down.
You go.
It's 90 minutes.
Boom, boom, boom.
Next you know the movie's over.
And it's seed of your pants.
The thing I love about it was how they showed actual footage,
but the cinematography made you look like you were
watching it all at the same time.
The real footage or the
the documentary that was filmed at that.
Yeah, you can tell the difference a lot of times.
Is that real or is that the actual footage in the way they filmed it, the way they acted?
And it showed how they had to, this was a spur of the moment thing.
No one expected the hot time to happen.
And they're in the middle of the night going, okay,
Olympics done.
Good night, America, blah, blah, blah.
Next you know, boom, and it's a news story.
And how do they get this out live?
This was the first basic
live coverage of a
terrorist event ever on national TV in America.
And the decisions they had to make.
Do we show this or don't we show this?
The false information that came out saying that they killed all the hostages and the
I mean, the hostages are alive and they survived and all that, but they
danced and all that.
And there's a lot of behind the scenes of what news
companies had to go through at the time.
You know, make these decisions versus a totally different world today with
social media and everybody having your camera that can go live and stream on Facebook,
live stream.
It's just when boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
done gone.
What?
Wow.
And yes, they'll might have only followed us.
It was too short.
Loved it.
And in case you were wondering if it's the end of days, there it is.
Yeah, there it is.
Alex's favorite film of the year.

One that I was very mad.
Furiosa, a mad Max.
Oh, there we go.
I have never seen number one and awesome movie that makes other movies that I already thought were awesome.
Better, but Furiosa sticks the landing is gorgeous, is fun.
Tells you all the things you wanted to know after Fury Road while also enhancing Fury Road.
It's incredible.
I know Rob doesn't like it, but I like it.
It's just man.
For me, it's not like it to me.
It made my list of number six.
If I can, you know how I feel about remakes and stuff like that.
And when I look at like, for instance, the alien love the alien.
Aliens is my favorite.
Everything else is crap.
Where did Alien Romulus fall for you, Don?
It's maybe number four, you know, on the other things.
Oh, no, I meant on your list.
Oh, ballpark.
I'd say about 20.
Okay.
Yeah, I had it at 27.
Okay, so the thing with this one is my, it's kind of like aliens where I love Mad Max,
but the road warrior was my favorite of it.
And everything's been compared to the road warrior.
This now went to above Mad Max, but below road warrior when it comes to all the films in the Mad Max saga.
It's right below the road warrior.
The scene chases, chases, everything like that.
It builds the story, even builds the story to the Mad Max saga and everything else.
I, it was a breath of fresh air.
Where you know, let's not, I sage it out.
But they did the opposite where they made it better.
They actually see everything look.
Yeah, and with the way they did it that made Chris Hemsworth disappear for me,
was arrested.
That was my favorite part of it was watching Chris Hemsworth choose scenery,
like he's got a golden corral.
And the guy seemed like the, like, again, the psychopath of
he great, played a great psychopath in that film.
That, that one, I will take issue with only on technicality.
That is definitively a sociopath difference between right and wrong.
He just doesn't care.
All right.
All right, my number one and this would be the first time this has ever happened.
Bell to Bell number one favorite film of the year.
Wow.
It was the first film I screened in 2024 and it never gave up the title.
It is the book of Clarence.
That's right.
This is the same guy that directed the harder they fall.
Which was my favorite film of that year.
This takes the biblical epic to a different level.
Don't let, and don't let the one sheet fool you.
This is not Clarence.
This is not Jesus.
By the way, touchdown Penn State were tied up again.
We might actually hit the over.
I've read one game I said under.
But it's, it's his love for biblical epics.
It's filmed that way.
It's the effects look that way.
Clarence is just the guy that's down on his luck and decides he wants to be a Messiah.
It's, and it's a really well told story.
Likith Stanfield.
I mean, seriously.
I mean, everybody in this.
One of my favorite scenes because he decides that he needs to figure out how to quote,
and this is a direct quote, learn Jesus's tricks.
So he literally goes to Mary and Joseph and asks and Mary just looks him dead in the eye and
goes, oh, baby, you don't understand how this works.
And, and, and Joseph's in the background like just look at him like don't, don't just,
just bail, bail, bail.
And how, I mean, it's just fantastic.
And then you're looking at, I mean, look, all the people that are in this movie.
Likith Stanfield, Omar Seid, David O'Yellowow, Alfre Woodard,
Mary Ann Johnbeth Teest is in this, like James McAvoy.
And there's a really funny sequence that happens later on.
It's just really well done.
I highly recommend this film, probably also one of the most underrated films of the year,
probably because it was a January release.
And it kind of got lost in the shuffle, but check, let me see where you can, you can currently,
it's available on Netflix or you can rent it from Prime Video, currently.
